History Of Ancient Egypt
The continent of Africa is where Ancient Egypt was located. Ancient Egypt was a civilization that
thrived by having the Nile River run through both the Lower and Upper Egypt. Lower Egypt was
located in the north and had the Nile River that dumped into the Mediterranean Sea. In the south is
where Upper Egypt was located which also had the Nile River running through it. The Nile River
provided a way to transport back and forth between the Upper and Lower Egypt. The Nile River also
made it possible for Ancient Egyptians to store up on plenty of water during flood times which
happened at certain times of the year.
Ancient Egypt had three timeframes. The first one was considered the Old Kingdom which was from
2575 B.C. to 2130 B.C. During this period,

The Power Of Language In Cyrano De Bergerac
You can t hide everything Complete mastery of a language is challenging for most people, but if one
does master it, it can be useful in life. However, it is not in the case for Cyrano, the protagonist in the
famous comedy, Cyrano de Bergerac, by Edmond Rostand. Cyrano is a French soldier who can create
figurative language with a blink of an eye and De Guiche, Cyrano s colonel, is also a witty person, but
is not respected. In this play, Rostand argues that a person with the power of wit cannot conceal their
own insecurities. Occasionally, Cyrano unintentionally uses his wit to expose his own insecurities
when he feels offended. At the beginning of the play, Cyrano confronted the Meddler when he was
staring at his nose, the Meddler said Cyrano s nose was small, very small, infinitesimal . Then, Cyrano
uses hit wit to reply, For a great nose indicates a great man,/ Genial, courteous, intellectual,/ Virile,
courageous as I am and such/ As you poor wretch will never dare to be / Even in imagination. For that
face / That blank, inglourious concavity / Which my right hand finds (Rostand I, 34). First, the
meddler is an irrelevant person who stares at Cyrano s nose because it is an abnormally large one. Due
to Cyrano s sensitive personality, he believes that the meddler is condescending him. Therefore,
Cyrano pressures the Meddler and forces him to say his opinion on Cyrano s nose. The meddler,
knowing that Cyrano is ashamed of his large nose, says he has a small nose. Cyrano strangely took
that as an insult and started saying fine values of himself. Here, the language of Cyrano depicts
insecurity because insecure people are the ones who constantly search to boost self esteem. Telling
this to Roxane or other important people is understandable, but to make these remarks to the Meddler
proves that his insecurities are at another level. Then, Cyrano describes the Meddler s face as a blank,
inglorious concavity , which means a plain, pointless face with a huge chin(I, 34). Here, Cyrano
desperately tries to hide his insecurity by using his wit to degrade the Meddler. This makes the
Meddler feel insecure because Cyrano called him ugly. According to Psychology Today, The insecure
person makes you feel

From Spaniard And Indian Summary
By the late eighteenth century, the New World, which was still remote, had formed its own
complicated individual and national identities. Moreover, the disparate communities within Latin
America had established a unique culture characterized by its hybridity. A close reading of Ignacio de
Castro s From Spaniard and Indian, a Mestizo is born and Agostino Brunias s Planter and His Wife
with a Servant reveals the racial hierarchy that formed amid Latin America s hybridity. Additionally,
both objects specifically express Latin American hybridity for a white, European class, likely as a
means to demystify and boost the standing of the New World. Deceivingly similar in terms of style
and subject, as both contain three figures of varying cultural ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

hybridity is evident because of her head wrapping. Interestingly, though she and her husband are pale,

Larkin vs Abse on Relationships Essay
Larkin and abse discussing relationships
Philip Larkin and Dannie Abse have very different and contrating attitudes to relationships. On the
whole, Larkin presents the concepts of love and marriage as very superficial and meaningless,
whereas Abse appears to be less such nihilistic and more open and positive about such topics. The
essay will discuss this contrast by examing Larkin s Whitsun Weddings , Wild Oats and Arundel Tomb
, and Dannie Abse s Imitations and Sons . The poem entitled `The Whitsun Weddings` is an
observational piece by Larkin when he was travelling from Hull to London by train. The poem has
seven stanzas and is is typical of Larkin. The words are simple, the emotions are blunted and the ...

The heavy use of enjambment also carries this theory. Compare this to Dannie Abse s Imitations . The
poem centres on Abse s thoughts about his son and how he has become an adolescent. Although the
poem is rather negative, describing his son as a chameleon therefore suggesting his son is changing.
However unlike in Whitsun Weddings is less pessimistic, saying that although he will die like his son
his family name will be passed down the generations and expresses some affection for his offspring,
whereas Larkin has no such optimism, he focuses on the fact that he has no son and probably never
will, much like in Larkin s Dockery and Son where he contemplates his lack of contribution to his
species existence of how his life when he dies will cease to have meaning. The poem An Arundel
Tomb written by Phillip Larkin illustrates the relationship between two forms found on a tomb. This
poem shows the lies love can tell, and the falseness of how their relationship is portrayed. The fact
that their hands are clasped in one another s grip is seen to be symbolic of their undying and
everlasting love for each other. Larkin uses humour, along with sarcasm and irony to demonstrate that
this is in fact symbolic of nothing and merely by a sculptor s sweet commissioned grace . How can we
believe this evident lie, for it is

For the last few decades there has been a war going on, not a war of bullets or missiles but a war of
ideas and control. A group of individuals wishes nothing more than to control the world s population

the United States Government to study the psychological states of a human in different situations and
environments and whether or not a human could be programmed or controlled it has come much
farther than a few studies and experiments however, and is used today to control world politics,

Ethnography Of Women In Islam
The essay I wrote about was based on the experiences of Women in Islam which is consist of a group
of Muslim female students at city college of New York. The essay was mainly focused on their
Muslim identities and the negative effects that comes with being a Muslim in America. The main
reason why I decided to study this group of students and use them as my ethnography topic was
because I am part of the group and I can relate with what they are going through for the mere fact of
being a Muslim. This subculture is something I am very passionate about, because it gives me a sense
of belonging and inclusion whenever I feel like the world is against my identity as a Muslim woman.

many complex but yet fascinating situations in their lives. Reading this screenplay the reader will

The Translator s Dilemma Of A Translator Essay
Ages ago, Cicero summed up the translator s dilemma in the following words:
If I render word for word, the result will sound uncouth and if compelled by necessity I alter anything
in the order or wording, I shall seem to have departed from the function of a translator (qtd. in
Bassnett 43). Translation in the first place, is transference of meaning from the Source Language (SL)
to the Target Language (TL). But what matters is not a translation of words from SL to TL, for exact
equivalence of words of the former is hard to get in the latter. Translation is both linguistic and
cultural activity and it is concerned with communication of meaning. It is not merely lexical
equivalent of words of one language to that of another, but much more. Since each word is charged
with memory, associations and literary echoes, it is difficult to find full equivalence of a SL word in
another word in TL. That is why, total or full translation is a myth.
The translator has to make a balance between maintaining close fidelity to the original and utter
freedom it. Sri Aurobindo is in favour of taking liberty with the original. He states that a translator is
not necessarily bound to the original he chooses; he can make his own poem out of it, if he likes, and
that is what is generally done (2). Translation is neither transliteration nor transcreation and it has to
and it has to guard against the danger of word for word literal translation as well as taking too much
liberty. In the name

The paper is concluded with a brief summary, potential contribution and limitations of the same.
REVIEW OF LITERATURE Forecasting literature is replete with a number of studies ranging from
simple time series forecasting models to econometric models as also the forecasting models
employing artificial intelligence techniques etc. Researchers have employed the forecasting models
with a view to finding out the forecasted demand of traffic for a particular period. However, the study
findings reveal that there does not exist a single model which consistently outperforms other models in
all situations. Quantitative forecasting methods can be categorized under three broad heads: (1) time
series modeling, (2) econometric models and (3) other quantitative models (Song and Li, 2008). Under
time series models, several techniques are available, e.g. Moving Average, Exponential Smoothing,
Holt s Model, Winter s Model, ARIMA etc. (Makridakis et al, 2003). In time series model, particular
attention is paid to exploring the historic trends and patterns of the time series involved and to predict
the future of this series based on trends and patterns identified in the model. Since time series models
require only historical observations of a variable, it is less costly in data collection and model
estimation. However, these models cannot account for the changes in demand that might occur in
different periods. The major advantages of econometric models over

The Causes Of Family Dynamics
Family Dynamics

Family Dynamics
Harmony among family members creates a sense of belonging and a feeling of security that is
incomparable to other kinds of associations. However, the emergence of tension and conflict may
threaten the prevailing coherence. Conflict is common to all families and siblings can occasionally
disagree; still, continuing clashes can damage relationships and create unnecessary strains among
relatives. Eventually, if such pressures are not resolved, they would affect family celebrations and
make them edgy occasions. Family tensions can be effectively solved through attending family events,
although they may cause siblings to boycott such occasions.
Siblings who have spent most of their early lives together have common values and perceptions.
Consequently, they are expected to live harmoniously together, as they hold common values, ethics,
and beliefs. However, a common upbringing and shared values does not always imply coherent
relationships. According to de Pontent, Aronoff, Mendoza, and Ward (2012) the order of birth, exposes
children to different circumstances depending on their parent s prevailing economic conditions.
Firstborns may arrive when the parents are not financial established. Consequently, they may adopt
different viewpoints from their siblings born when the parents are more affluent. Moreover, birth order
creates sibling rivalry; a cause of tension that may continue into adulthood.

Comparison Between Hamlet And Ophelia

Hamlet Essay
The two characters I m analyzing and comparing are Hamlet and Ophelia. I m choosing these two
because they are very different, from two different families that don t like each other. But their in love
at the same time. So I feel like Hamlet and Ophelia are the best options for this essay. Hamlet should
have tried to express his love a little less so Ophelia s father wouldn t have found out about how
madly in love with her Hamlet was.
Hamlet and Ophelia were spending a lot of time together and Hamlet had told Ophelia the affection he
had for her. Ophelia didn t know how to feel about Hamlet s affection for her because she knew how
her father would feel about it. Somehow her father, Polonius, found out about the time they were
spending together and the affection Hamlet had for Ophelia. He ordered Ophelia to spend no more
time with hamlet and to not even speak to him. She said she would obey her father s orders to stay
away from Lord Hamlet .
Ophelia not talking to Hamlet really hurt Hamlet. He was very much in love with Ophelia. He knew
they there two families didn t get along but he still had a whole lot of love for her. He wanted to marry
her but deep down inside he should have known her father wasn t going to allow them to be married.
There was just something about her that he couldn t resist, he just knew that she was the love of his
life. Sometimes that s how things work out though you can t always get what you want.in life. But you
can sure try your hardest to get what you want even though in this situation Hamlet Probably isn t
getting what he wants which is Ophelia.
Ophelia is drowned (pg. 77) . Many believe that she committed suicide and drowned herself and many
also believe she actually accidentally drowned. There was a debate on whether she should get a
christian burial because of the belief that she committed suicide. The helper said I heard she is to be
giving a christian burial (pg 79) so i guess that she will be giving a christian burial but a lot of people
don t agree because of the belief that she committed suicide. Hamlet didn t like the fact that the

Essay On Pathos And Juxtaposition In Julius Caesar
In Julius Caesar by William Shakespeare, the dictator of Rome is assassinated by his senators. Among
which was one of his closest advisors, Brutus. Another friend of Caesar, named Marc Antony, hears of
this assassination and is grief stricken. Together the two men speak to the citizens of Rome about their
views of what is right. Firstly Brutus speaks, soon after Antony recites his side of the story. Although
the crowd is swayed by both men, Antony is able to maintain the support of the people with his ideas
and values. Antony was the better speech for a varying amount of rhetoric he used, among which are
pathos and juxtaposition. Brutus uses these as well, but not as adequately. Throughout the two men s
speeches, both try to invoke emotions in the people of Rome. Brutus attempts this first and is
ultimately less effective than the pathos Antony uses throughout his speech. Brutus states, If there s
anyone in this assembly, any dear friend of Caesar s, I say to him that my love for Caesar was no less
than his. If, then, that friend demands to know why I rose up against Caesar, this is my answer: it s not
that I loved Caesar less, but that I loved Rome more. In this statement, Brutus is directing the emotion
towards himself instead of the people. He isn t allowing the people to feel for themselves; this is not
an compelling way of using pathos. Antony uses a different method that creates a bigger rise out of the
crowd. He does this by saying, Have patience, gentle

The Strain of Mother Daughter Relationships in Annie John
Jamaica Kincaid accurately portrays how adolescence can strain mother daughter
relationships. The mother daughter relationships are universal but it is not clear why
we avoid the topic (Gerd). The father daughter relationships and the mother sons
relationships are the issues mostly talked about. In Jamaica Kincaid s novel, Annie John,
she explains and gives insight into mother daughter relationships. In Annie John, there are events that
make people think about their relationship with their own mother.
Kincaid expresses this relationship through her main character Annie who tries to

In the novel, Annie did many things with her mother and look into the world through her mother.
With all this, Annie wouldn t know what the world would be like with out her mother. Frances A.
Nadeau, who wrote an article on the mother daughter relationship, said
Understanding [this] relationship is critical to young adult girls because daughters
bond with their mothers in a complex, interdependent association that often inhibits a daughter from
establishing her own identity. Different people might describe this relationship in different ways but
one common theme they have is that the daughter cannot do any thing without the mother and she also
has her mothers image. In the novel, Annie and her mother were almost the same. They wore dresses
cut from the same cloth; they went shopping together; and they even took bath together. She did many
things with her mother and even wears the same cloth. Annie was like a little mirror of her mother. As
the relationship gets to different stage in life it changes. For instance, the relationship you have with
your mother when you are a child is different from the one you have during adolescence and it s also
different when you are a mother yourself. But the most difficult stage is during adolescence.
Adolescence is a difficult stage for both the mothers and daughters. Recent studies

Plato s Teachings Of Philosophy
Plato was a well known philosopher who lived during the time of the distinguished Greek
philosophers. He was born into a wealthy and very noble family in the Athens. In the midst of
preparation for his life long career as a politician, the young Plato witnessed the trial and eventual
execution of Socrates. Little did he or anyone know this would ultimately lead him to completely
abandon his political career and become one of the world s most distinguished philosophers. Although
Plato s teachings are not universally agreed upon, virtually anyone can agree that that he was a
brilliant thinker and spurred many thoughts and beliefs that are carried into today s teachings of
philosophy. While the precise relationship of Plato and Socrates remains a heated disagreement among
scholars, Plato states that he was, in fact, a devoted follower of Socrates. Plato was highly influenced
by Socrates teachings and highly disturbed by his execution, eventually leading him to establish an
extremely powerful body of intellectual work. Plato is known to be a great writer as well as teacher.
Some of Plato s most famous teachings and writings had to do with his powerful argument that was in
favor of the objectivity of values. He taught that objective values are those that exist outside the
individual and are otherwise dependent upon their individual perception or personal belief. This can
include truth, beauty, as well as good. Some other distinguished philosophers have come up with

Government campaigns stressed the message that women needed to sustain their feminity so they
provided beautiful posters of feminine women who were nicely groomed as nurses, volunteers, or

the boundary between masculinity and femininity. In the United States and Europe many women
stepped in opened occupations, media affected women greatly, and even though women were raised in
a feminine way they still entered the workforce and volunteered for military service.
Second, the women s work in the home is so beneficial, because it helped the national defense effort
and gave support for the war. Many women showed their sacrifice and patriotism on the home front by
facing several challenges, such as raising children and singly taking care of the home by themselves.
These heroes of the home front sustained the highest quality of living they could possibly do for
themselves and for their families. For example, in the article American Women s Wartime Dress:
Sociocultural Ambiguity Regarding Women s Roles During World War II says that women in America
became heroes on the home front. Also, it was stated that Britain women is seen as the home front as a
legitimate duty. There was no doubt that women in America and in Europe took the home front
responsibilities very seriously with all the challenges that brought.

Essay about Digital Home Convergence
Digital Home Convergence
Overview
As technology and entertainment converge inside the home, major players in various industries are
taking different strategies in planning for the future. The concept of the digital home will likely take
one of two forms: a closed wired entertainment network (PVRs, OnDemand) or an open wireless data
network (web, email, VOIP, IPTV). The closed model is already being offered in many homes across
the country, but as technology advances, the open model will become the standard. It is important to
understand how both technology and entertainment are companies are strategizing to control the
digital home .

Microsoft
Microsoft is taking several approaches to its digital home strategy. The first thing it did was to release
the Media PC Center in 2002. HP was the first to build a PC set top box to run this software. Other
hardware companies have been working to make the box look more like a television companion than a
PC. Microsoft s goal is to train consumers to consider buying a PC set top box when they are
upgrading their entertainment system. The current problem with this strategy is that the boxes are
priced too high ($1900). In addition, Microsoft is going to incur significant pioneering costs in
creating a market for these new entertainment PCs .
In the event that this set top PC does not become the standard, Microsoft is also creating strategic
alliances with other hardware and broadband companies. They are developing software for Comcast
PVRs and LG DVD recorders. They will receive $400M from SBC for the use of Microsoft TV
Internet Protocol Television Edition. Basically, they are placing bets hoping that one system will
standardize. In the words of a marketing manager at Microsoft, There is no one size fits all choice .
Apple
Apple is currently repositioning itself as a media software and consumer electronics company due to
the success of iTunes and the iPod. They were the first company to develop a successful synergy
between consumer electronics and media delivery software. It is not unrealistic to expect some form
of this strategy to

Theme Of Good And Evil In All The Light We Cannot See
Inside each of us, there is the seed of both good and evil. It s a constant struggle as to which one will
win. And one cannot exist without the other. Eric Burdon. The theme of good versus evil can be
applied to almost every novel but in different aspects. In the novel, All the Light We Cannot See by
Anthony Doerr, plays a good and evil side at the same time. This book is in the time period of WWII
in Paris, France following a blind girl and an intellectual boy. The girl, Marie Laure, is our good side
of the story, for instance, always wanting to help her father with what she can, listening and knowing
what the right thing to do is, and taking action when needed, adding to her blindness to not let that
stop her. The German boy we follow, Werner, he is wanting to help others as well, but not for the right
reasons, he lets the evil, in this case, the Nazis, take control of him and use him for his brain.
Werner likes to please people, but not the right people. Werner builds radios for the Nazis, and they
praise him for it, for instance, Werner sets up the first transceiver, uses measuring tape to pace off two
hundred meters, and sets up a second. He uncoils the grounding wires, raises the aerials, and switches
them on. Already his fingers are numb... Werner puts on the headset and fills his ears with static.... I

Why We Should Be A Fee On Plastic Bags
There should be a fee on plastic bags
Why should we have to continue to litter or use plastic so that we can just toss them out when we don
t need them any more? That is why I think there should be a fee. When we litter, as shown in the video
those small things are winding up in the lakes and oceans and killing wildlife. Also I believe that befor
you get a chance to litter and hurt wildlife you should pay the price not them. We should stop because
plastic is not biodegradable so it will be around for a while if it ends up in a body of water. If there
they stay and float in the water than it is a better chance of it to pose a threat for other water animals.
There should be a fee on plastic bags because plastic is not biodegradable, every square mile of the
ocean has 46,000 pieces of plastic, and they have external cost.
One important reason that there should be a fee on plastic bags are that they are biodegradable and
that means that they are not going away anytime soon. According to creeklife.com 46,000 pieces of
plastic are floating in any body of water. So that means that 23,000 animals are in danger. What i m
saying here is that if all of these people want to stop animal brutality then there is another way and it is
that we should pay a price to contribute. And the money can go to an animal fundraiser. Now, some ...

Reintroduction Of Wolves In Yellowstone National Park
How has the reintroduction of wolves affected Yellowstone National Park? It is commonly
acknowledged that, in a biological ecosystem all species are closely affected each other through a food
chain. However, what people don t really recognize is how hugely one species can affect the entire
ecosystem. The reintroduction of wolves in Yellowstone National Park depicts a vivid example how
one predator can contribute to the recovery of biodiversity and its astonishing impact on physical
geography. Reintroduction of wolves brought about recovery of plants and animals in Yellowstone

Population Overpopulation
The Earth is currently 4.54 billion years old, holding about 332,500,000 cubic miles of water, an
estimate of 8.7 billion mammals, and close to 7 billion humans. The modern humans, evolved from
archaic humans, have been roaming the Earth for about 17,000 years. Over the last fifty years, human
population grew faster than it has ever before. In the 1960s, the world population was at about 3
billion people, increasing to an estimate of 6 billion people by 1999. The expected growth of world
population from 6 billion people in 1999 is about 9 billion people by 2044, causing the world to
become overpopulated. The word population causes many different reactions and thoughts. For
example, it stimulates anger because of irresponsible procreation, insufficient funding for birth control
methods, and religion for being against contraception and abortion. The reason that anger is one of the
main reactions is that many are aware of how population growth can damage the Earth and affect the
future. To reduce the population growth rates, there should be a worldwide, two child policy for every
couple during the process of establishing basic education because research has shown the positive
effects of China s one child policy, how Earth s resources are decreasing, and how overpopulation has
negatively affected the environment. By establishing a two child policy for every couple, there could
be many positive results, such as the results that came from China s one child policy. According

Reckless Driving Essay
As Americans we love our cars, trucks, SUVs, and motorbikes for many different reasons. One major
reason is that they are an easy and convenient mobility; a personal mode of transportation. It is rather
hard to imagine what this county would be like without all the roads and vehicles on them. This is
abundantly evident in Arizona, where the majority of us drive to most all of our activities from going
to work or taking the kids for an ice cream. We jump into our vehicle and go. However, a curious
thing often happens when we get in our car, truck and SUVs. We sometimes change turning into
someone different when behind the wheel of our vehicle. We can become inconsiderate and aggressive
to other drivers; at times even becoming rude, crude, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They are failure to yield the right of way, reckless, carless, erratic driving, failure to obey traffic signs,
and other traffic control devices, and making improper turns (AAA Foundation (2009). Arizona law
makers took notice of the dangers that are created by aggressive drivers. The lawmakers amended the
Reckless Driving Section and amended the name of the statute 28 695 to Reckless and Aggressive
Driving. Arizona statute defines aggressive driving as a situation in which a person commits a
violation of speeding and at least two other traffic violations (i.e., failure to obey traffic control
devices, improper passing, driving off the pavement or traveled portion of the highway, following too
close, failure to yield right of way, or driving in a way that is an immediate hazard to another person
or vehicle). (ARIZONA DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC SAFETY , para. 2). This was an important step
allow law enforcement a tool to make the roads safer. The serious problem is we should be trying to
be safer on our own. The question that should be asked is why are so many people are compelled to be
dangerous drivers? It could be that there is a sense of invincibility when they are in control of a big
powerful machine. This is often the case with younger male drivers, who enjoy the thrill of dangerous
driving. In other instances normally calm, law abiding drivers snap in a fit of rage. This road rage can
turn a driver from calm to instantly a monster behind the wheel,

The Necklace is a morality tale written by Guy de Maupassant where he portrays the life of a beautiful

s family and marrying a clerk too. Mathilde s discontentment in life instigates her to pretend someone

But later in the story her discontentment caused her to terrible problem and sealed her fate. The
necklace of Madame Forestier has been lost. It is her discontent that caused her to borrow the necklace
which she lost. But it is an irony of fate that Mathilde and her husband faced 10 years of hardship for
nothing but a fake necklace which cost at most only five hundred francs. (6) For this necklace they
repaid a debt of thirty six thousand francs. (5) If Mathilde and her husband had admitted to Madame
Forestier about the truth of losing the necklace then the consequences would have been different and
they would have avoided the hardship. This relates with another morality of the story which is to tell
the truth. Thereafter, by learning a lesson from her doings there was a great transformation in Mathilde
s character from beginning to end of the story. After giving the diamond necklace to Forrestier she
knew they have to live a horrible (5) life of the needy. (5) . Thus with sudden heroism (5) she decided
to repay the debt taken for that necklace and dismissed their servant, changed their lodgings and
rented a garret under the roof. (5) The woman who valued her youth and beauty the most lost it and
became the woman of impoverished household strong and hard and rough. (5) But sometimes she

Research Paper On House Crickets
There are 900 species of crickets; one of the most common species, used a lot of times for bait, is the
house cricket or Acheta Domesticus. Most species of crickets are nocturnal meaning they are more
active at night. House crickets tend to be found in the Eastern part of the United States. House
Crickets have shorter lifespans than most other species of crickets living only about three months
while other cricket species such as the mole cricket can live for about a year. Males are the ones who
chirp as a mating call, typically at night because the crickets are nocturnal and are therefore more
active at night. The crickets chirp by rubbing their wings together. Crickets have exogenous
entrainment behaviors specifically their chirping at night. Exogenous entrainment is the process of

For instance, it is important that the dependent variable (the crickets) will react to the independent
variable (the changing colors of light). This is supported by the third paragraph where it was stated
that crickets do react to light frequency. It is important that crickets do see different colors because if
they didn t they would never react to the change of light color in the experiment making the testing
obsolete. It is also important to know that crickets respire as well as knowing how they do so. This is
important to know because if crickets did not respire a good amount in a fair amount of time, it
wouldn t be possible to test the dependent variable. It is also extremely important to know when
crickets are active so that it can be tested to see if they will respire more in situations where they are

Both poets use strong imagery to express their views on racial oppression in their poems. McKay
depicts a gruesome scene, whereas Hughes produces a hopeless feeling. From the title of McKay s
poem, If We Must Die , people would seem destined to death. They have no alternative so they are in a
desperate situation. McKay describes people are being like hogs : trapped inside the fence, and unable
to escape from the predators who get into the pen. The hogs are powerless because they cannot defend
themselves. However, the speaker does not want his allies to die like hogs even though they are

feeling that the enemies are immoral: what they do is against humanity. On the other hand, in Hughes
s poem, he uses common, food related scenes, to express his feeling. In line 3, he describes that a
dream deferred is like a raisin dry up in the sun . Once a grape has become the raisin, it has no juice
remaining. Hughes compares juice to hope which means there is no hope at all, it will fester like a sore

healed. The next line, Does it stink like rotten meat? (6) shows dreams do not go away easily, they will
linger, and spoil reminding people of their unfortunate fate. Also, people must take actions to dispose
of rotten meat. Hughes repeatedly depicts sickening images to convince readers that dreams cannot be

Analysis Of The Movie Spirited Away And Ponyo
Director Miyazaki illustrated in Spirited Away and Ponyo how love, identity, perseverance, and
adversity can conquer anything. At the beginning of the movies, we see how food and water set
Chihiro, Sosuke, and Ponyo s entire adventures, and the conflict they endure and how they were
perceived in the spirit and human worlds. The spirit world was less tolerant of anything different
whereas the human world was more welcoming; however, they both illustrated the same message
about how people should be more open minded and to be more accepting. An example in Spirited
Away showed how the Spirit world viewed Chihiro as nothing more than just a human being who
came to their world to cause trouble, according to Yubaba; whereas in the human world, Ponyo was
welcomed by Sosuke, even though at the start of the movie, Ponyo was appeared to be a goldfish,
nevertheless she was still welcomed by a human. The narrator showed his audience how difficult it
was for Chihiro in the spirit world, in Spirited Away , but, Ponyo was the opposite in the human world
but she still had adversity. By the contrast of both worlds, Miyazaki is showing his audience how
humans are more accepting of things that are different vs the spirit world which rejects differences.
The storyteller showed a scene in Spirited Away where Yubaba tried to trick Chihiro into choosing her
parents from a group of sprit she had turned into pigs, but it didn t work the way Yubaba wanted it to,

Frequently Asked Questions About Orthodontics
Do you still have some questions about how orthodontic treatment works? Let s answer some common
concerns our patients usually express.
How long does it take to get my teeth straightened?
The amount of time required for treatment is directly dependent upon your specific situation and the
method of treatment used. While traditional braces may take two or three years, Invisalign can be
completed in about 12 to 18 months. Fastbraces works even faster, often offering results in about 6 to
12 months.
How much does orthodontic treatment cost?
Again, the answer to this question largely depends on your situation and what type of treatment is
required. Typically, the longer your treatment, the most costly it becomes. However, many insurance
plans cover the cost of braces. We also offer great financing options that should make it easy to make
sure you are taken care of.
Are braces painful?
All of our braces options are safe and produce only mild levels of discomfort. None of our orthodontic
options are painful. When you have your wires adjusted for traditional braces, you may feel a bit of
discomfort lasting up to about a week due to the pressure of tightened wires. With Fastbraces or
Invisalign, even that discomfort is reduced.

How Important Did Edwin Chadwick Improve Public Health In...
How important was the role played by Edwin Chadwick in improving public health services in towns
in the nineteenth century? (16 marks)
Edwin Chadwick s hard work produced a mass of evidence supporting public health reforms. In 1842
his report that was published ( Report on the Sanitary Conditions of the Labouring Population )
influenced the government and persuaded people that reform was needed. His report s
recommendations were the basis for the 1848 Public Health Act.
However, Chadwick did have a few limitations along the way. His report in 1842 did not lead to
immediate reform. The Public Health Act came 6 years later in 1848 and this act did not force councils
to reform public health. His personality antagonised people and did ... Show more content on

The core of the project was completed by 1865 but because it was such a big project, it took another
10 years to complete. He made sure the system had a much higher capacity than was needed in the
1860s.
Other than this, there were other factors that helped improve public health such as the role of the
government. In 1867, working men in towns were given the right to vote and this meant the number of
voters doubled which increased again in 1884 and this mean politics changed drastically. In the
1870s/1880s many new laws were passed which were designed to improve the lives of ordinary
people such as the Public Health Act in 1875.
Another factor which helped improve public health was chance. The timing of the 1848 Public Health
Act was the result of the latest epidemic of cholera. As cholera spread across Europe in 1847 fear grew
in Britain of many thousands of deaths to come. Therefore the government finally followed Chadwick
s recommendations and passed the Public Health Act in the hope that this would reduce the impact of
cholera. However, the 1848 Act was not compulsory. Only 103 towns set up local Boards of Health.
Many more did not, and the National Board of Health, set up to oversee reforms, was abolished after
only six years in 1854.
The Great Stink in 1858 occurred in the summer which was really hot and this resulted in the smell
from the river growing worse. This added to the evidence that more

Neighborhood Observation
I think the thing that I learned the most about Baltimore communities and schools during this
excursion was that the quality of the neighborhoods changes so rapidly from street to street. I have
never experienced such a quick and powerful juxtaposition between different socioeconomical areas in

grouped in larger clusters. In Baltimore, I have noticed that isn t true. Neighborhoods rapidly shift
from block to block The transition from Canton to Madison happened so quickly that I thought I had
missed something originally. This is so interesting to me and I would love to learn more about why
this is the way that it is. I am very ignorant of large cities in general, but in my experience I have

gentrification and increased socioeconomic development. It was clear from the number of recently

Welfare Argument Analysis
The welfare system has a been a debatable topic for many years now. People have various viewpoints
that relate to the welfare system. Most people believe that the welfare system is abused. On the other
hand, people do not mind paying more money for the less fortunate to be provided with food, shelter,
etc. This is a hard topic to consider because there are countless variables that play a major role in how
much money one could receive from welfare or other forms of government assistance. Mountain
Heights Academy presents an argumentative speech. In this argument, the unknown author addresses
that the welfare system must be reformed because the current system has only increased poverty
levels. It additionally addresses that there is a wide range ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Assumptions weaken an argument because it is often difficult to argue unless the audience shares the
same assumptions. The assumptions need to clearly be explained and not left for interpretation. The
author claims that several of the families keep having more babies to increase their handouts from the
government (Mountain Heights Academy). However, the author seems to have no background such as
being a social worker which deals with assisting lower class people with government funding such as
welfare. They additionally have no proof that people have children only to receive money from the
government. Also, the opposing side is never addressed. There are some individuals and families that
truly need the welfare system to assist them sometimes. They do not necessarily live off it or have
children only to collect money from the government. This assumption can be interpreted many ways
because there is no proof. This assumption weakens the argument tremendously. For instance, the
author mentioned that the welfare program as we know does absolutely nothing that it was set up to do
(Mountain Heights Academy). The author remarks that welfare system does nothing, but does not
provide any facts or other information to support the assumption. Information or research could have
been provided to justify why the current welfare system does nothing. This assumption is left for

Criminal Behavior Theories Paper
This week our focus is on theories of criminal behavior and why people choose the behavior they do.
According to (Adler, Mueller, Laufer, 2012), there are three main criminal behavior theories; Labeling
theory, Conflict theory and the Radical theory. Each theory outlines different perspectives on why an
individual engages in criminal activity along with the public s reaction.
The first theory is the Labeling theory which was first contemplated by Charles Horton Cooley,
William I. Thomas, and George Herbert Mead around 1918. It is one of the most important approaches
to understanding criminal behavior. It basically theorizes that no one act is inherently criminal, but it
is merely the interaction and relationship between the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One example may be that some children engage in activities such as breaking windows, stealing fruit
from other people s trees, climbing into other people s yards, or playing hooky from school. In upscale
neighborhoods, these acts may be looked at by parents, teachers, and police as innocent aspects of the
process of growing up. In poor areas, on the other hand, these same activities might be seen as
tendencies towards juvenile delinquency, which suggests that differences of class and race play an
important role in the process of assigning labels of criminal activity (Adler et al., 2012).
Next we look at the Conflict theory. Conflict theory states that tensions and conflicts arise when
resources, status, and power are unevenly distributed between groups in society and that these
conflicts become the reason for social change. In this context, power can be understood as control of
material resources and accumulated wealth, control of politics and the institutions that make up

injury was sustained. This will reduce swelling too. This will burn the gums. Rinsing the mouth with
mild salt water solutions can ease infections.
Emergency Dental Situations
Chipped or Broken Tooth: The first step in this situation is to gather any pieces that you can find and
rinse them with warm water. You should rinse out your mouth with warm water as well. If there s any
bleeding, apply pressure as you would with an injury anywhere else on the body. To combat swelling
and pain, an ice pack on the outside of the mouth may help. See an emergency dentist in Columbus as
soon as you can.
Loose or Lost Crown If you can, try and slip the crown back onto the tooth. Apply denture adhesive or
toothpaste to the inner surfaces of the crown before attempting this, to try and make the crown stay in
place. Swabbing the tooth with clove oil may help combat some of the pain. For this particular
emergency, it is critical to get in to see one of Columbus emergency dentists as soon as

Media And Crime Analysis
Media plays a crucial role in bringing the depiction to the public about the knowledge about crimes.
The public s opinion is greatly influenced by the way the media presents the crimes committed as well
as the awareness of the police. This means, therefore, if the media is accountable for the reports
presented on televisions, and social media platforms, the conclusions were drawn by the public about
crime incidences depends on the information presented by the media (Barak, 2013). Print media
industry extensively produces copies that cover crime stories to boost their industry by selling large.
Stories are crafted, sensationalized with the prospects to grab the attention of the public with stories
that are not always true. For instance, watching ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Max Weber And Karl Marx On Modern Capitalism
Max Weber and Karl Marx on Modern Capitalism
Anna Thor
Sociology 475: Classical Sociological Theory
Capitalism has continued to affect the way our society works as it is vital to our society. Two
sociologists named Karl Marx and Max Weber have explained what they saw the historical emergence
of modern capitalism. Both Karl Marx and Max Weber saw the significance of evolution of modern
capitalism in the United States. Although both of the sociologists have differing views on how they
saw the emergence of modern capitalism, there are also crossover and similarities in what they find as
well as what they think should be done differently. Either way, both Karl Marx and Max Weber make
significant explanations of capitalism which we can see that is still relevant today.
First of all, capitalism is the production of commodity for purposes of sales. It is an economic system
where the means of production, distribution and exchange of wealth is made by individuals or
corporations. The origin of capitalism starts when the producer wants to increase the sums of values
they possessed and buys the laborer s power for cheap and therefore increase the profits the producer
makes (Tucker, p 432). Capitalism also involves with hierarchy of labor, production, wage labor, and
surplus value, technology, and religion. Karl Marx and Max Weber state their critiques on this modern
capitalism in the United States.
Karl Marx views the capitalism in America as selling commodities for

Comparison Of Bobbi Brown And Eugene Schueller
The two people I chose are Bobbi Brown, by Didi, and Eugene Schueller, by Mackenzie. I chose
Eugene Schueller because he is the founder of a business that my mom loves and the story of how the
business came to be was very inspiring, I also chose Bobbi Brown because I love her makeup
products. I think that both entrepreneurs have very inspiring stories behind the creation of their brands.
What stood out to me about Eugene Schueller was that he started off as a chemist and when he
discovered the formula for hair dyes and makeup in school he began to invent many different formulas
and dyes in his kitchen and had branched off since then. He started by selling to local salons and years
later when others all over started to hear about his products

Special Education Workbook Summary
Workbook Summary
Tónya Harris
Liberty University Introduction: Special Education in the Individualized Education Program Special
education is a form of instruction that serves to help individual students with disabilities in the
classroom, or any other setting that is considered acceptable by the Individualized Education Program
(IEP) team. The process used to determine special education starts when either a teacher or a parent
makes a referral to have an individual student evaluated to determine if there is a disability. Special
education comes at no extra cost to the parents of the student. Gibb and Dyches (2016), mention how
students with disabilities ages 3 to 21 must be granted Free Appropriate Public Education (FEPA), ...

Gibb and Dyches (2016) state, Academic achievement refers to gaining requisite skills and knowledge
for success in school (p. 47), and functional performance can be defined as applying knowledge and
skills to meet daily needs (p. 47). Reading, writing, and math are academic achievement skills that are
crucial to the students learning because they all are required for other subjects. In contrary, functional
performance involves adaptive skills such as feeding and dressing oneself, and meeting appropriate
school behaviors. Gibb and Dyches (2016) mention that the PLAAFP statement derives from
reviewing the curriculum standards for academic achievement, determining the students current
academic strengths and limitations, and assessing the students current functional strengths and
limitations (p. 48).
Measurable Annual Goals
Measurable annual goals are used to identify what the individual student is expected to achieve within
one year to address what effects the disability has caused. Gibb and Dyches (2016) define the word
measurable as the behavior stated in the goal can be observed and measured to determine when it has
been achieved (p. 60). Therefore, in order to be considered a measurable academic and functional
performance goal the goal must be able to be measured, must meet the individual student needs that
are in relation to the disability and cause problems within the general education curriculum, and must
also meet any other additional

Militant Islam Is The Exact Opposite Of What My Essay...
Militant Islam is the exact opposite of what my essay title states. Many Muslims will tell you firsthand
that the radical Islamist you see in the news do not practice true Islam. They go against almost every
moral code in the Qu ran and hadiths by falsely interpreting a few passages. So, how then did this new
religious cult form and shock the entire western world on a day known as 9/11. Groups like these have
been in existence since the early 1930s and the Middle Eastern world has been forced to face these
people head on in their daily lives . This is not a new trend in the world, groups like Nazi Germany
and Communist Russia, so why do these terrorist groups come as such a big shock? Studying radical
Islam is necessary so we can truly combat it in the social and political world. When people hear the
word Jihad (and they are not Muslim) it automatically sends a chill down their spine. This term has
come to mean in the news a religious war against anyone who is not a conservative Muslim . In the Qu
ran (the holy text) it means something very different. They believe that Jihad has a dual meaning, that
the person should strengthen their relationship with Allah and teach others about him . In terrorist
groups they call for the death of all those who stand in the way of Islam and see the Western world as
oppressors of their faith. This frame of mind comes from the push of Christianity into these countries
and the formation of Israel. Many of the terrorist groups we

Atp Human Movement Process
ATP (adenosine triphosphate) is a molecule used for human movement. Even though ATP is being
constantly produced, it is not produced fast enough to keep us moving for long periods of time. Thus,
we have the three metabolic pathways; the ATP/CP (creatine phosphate) pathway, the glycolytic
pathway, and the aerobic oxidative pathway to continuously provide our bodies with ATP during any
activity. Each pathway has a storage of ATP which can only rebuild so quickly. Once ATP depletes
from one system the next system takes over. The ATP/CP pathway requires no oxygen for energy use
and is utilized during short periods of time; no more than 3 to 15 seconds of high intensity work
before ATP runs out. For activities such as a 50 meter dash or a 1 rep ... Show more content on

To prepare for a marathon I would do activities that last for long periods of time to help build my
endurance. Endurance exercises stimulate certain changes to help the body progress as more strain is
put on it. This would in turn condition my body to learn how to overcome this strain s and continue to
push through the lactic acid. If I was an experienced runner, I would aim to do activities other than
running to improve my fitness and prevent and rehabilitate any injuries I may have acquired from
running too much. A total body strength training session such as swimming or biking would help keep
my heart rate up and help build my endurance. However, if I was brand new to running, I would first
start by running a few times a week, around 20 minutes a day depending on how my cardio was and
worked up from there every week; until I felt I was ready to run the marathon. Even though the
aerobic oxidative pathway will continue to produce energy for long periods of time, if I am not
properly trained for the marathon the depletion of glucose, glycogen, and fatty acids necessary for
endurance activities will limit how far I am able to

Explain Why I Want A Career In Health Care Essay
Why I want a career in health care
My passion for healthcare cultivated because of my family. Throughout my childhood and adolescent
years, I got an opportunity to volunteer helping around the nursing home where my mother worked as
a licensed practical nurse. Looking back, on those experiences influenced my entire career in so many
diverse ways. Learning ample amounts of wisdom from various honorable people. As a child I was
always trying to help my mother, grandmother, aunts, my church take care of others in our family and
the community. Once I graduated from high school I did not know if I was prepared for college.
Likewise, I was not sure if I wanted to become a registered nurse and follow my mother s footsteps.
However, I did attend a technical training school and became a certified nursing assistant in 2005.
During my five year gap year, I conducted research on several different areas and aspects of
healthcare. Over the course of ten years I have had the opportunity to experience different segments of
healthcare. From the different settings of healthcare, exploring different business opportunities offered
in healthcare, and educational and technical skill trainings. These three topics really influenced my
decision to pursue a healthcare career.
First, I would like to share different settings that I have had an opportunity to work in. Right out of my
technical school I was able to land a job in a nursing home. I have received an abundance of trainings

In such business cases, critical factors will involve security, accuracy of information, compliance, and
regulation.  Impact of millennial generation and globalization on mobility. Members of the
expanding millennial generation (loosely defined as people born between the early 1980s and the late
1990s) will as they move up the corporate ladder increasingly drive dramatic changes in how
enterprises utilize mobility. Much of this is driven by factors such as their ease of leveraging the world
of online and what increasingly are referred to as cloud services through which they can essentially
perform any task, professionally or personally, via a basic Web connection and, now, a mobile device

A Vindication Of The Rights Of Woman By Mary Wollstonecraft
Halle Neisen
Mrs. Lippincott
English 1314.6
28 November 2015
Analysis of A Vindication of the Rights of Woman by Mary Wollstonecraft Mary Wollstonecraft, most
famously known as the first feminist , was born in London on April 27, 1759. She was raised by an
abusive father that led her desire to become a philosophical writer and an advocate for women s rights.
In her book, A Vindication of the Rights of Woman, Mary Wollstonecraft uses examples of ethos,
pathos, and logos to extend her argument that women should have individual rights, especially in
education. Wollstonecraft uses ethos to convey her position that women should have individual
liberties and the right to a good education. Wollstonecraft uses the appeal to sentiments and morals to
accentuate the importance for her audience to fight for women s egalitarianism in ... Show more

Mary stresses in her famous quote that if you strengthen the female mind by enlarging it, [then] there
will be an end to blind disobedience ; however, tyrants and sensualists bask in this blind disobedience
. They revel in keeping women in the dark because only then can they continue to use women as
slaves and playthings . This sick, cruel revelation made in her quote further vindicates why women
should be rightfully educated. Only through proper education will women be emancipated. elicits
Logos is utilized in this excerpt to compare Mary s thoughts to Rousseau s on women s status in
society in the 18th century and what rights they should attain. Rousseau is one of the many novelists
on female edification, and he has a tendency to illustrate woman as incapable and weak. He believed

Ancient Egypt was a civilization that thrived by having the Nile River run through both the Lower and Upper Egypt. Lower Egypt was located in the north and had the Nile River that dumped into the Mediterranean Sea. In the south is where Upper Egypt was located which also had the Nile River running through it. The Nile River provided a way to transport back and forth between the Upper and Lower Egypt. The Nile River also made it possible for Ancient Egyptians to store up on plenty of water during flood times which happened at certain times of the year. Ancient Egypt had three timeframes. • 3. The Power Of Language In Cyrano De Bergerac You can t hide everything Complete mastery of a language is challenging for most people, but if one does master it, it can be useful in life. However, it is not in the case for Cyrano, the protagonist in the famous comedy, Cyrano de Bergerac, by Edmond Rostand. Cyrano is a French soldier who can create figurative language with a blink of an eye and De Guiche, Cyrano s colonel, is also a witty person, but is not respected. In this play, Rostand argues that a person with the power of wit cannot conceal their own insecurities. Occasionally, Cyrano unintentionally uses his wit to expose his own insecurities when he feels offended. At the beginning of the play, Cyrano confronted the Meddler when he was staring at his nose, the Meddler said Cyrano s nose was small, very small, infinitesimal . Then, Cyrano uses hit wit to reply, For a great nose indicates a great man,/ Genial, courteous, intellectual,/ Virile, courageous as I am and such/ As you poor wretch will never dare to be / Even in imagination. For that face / That blank, inglourious concavity / Which my right hand finds (Rostand I, 34). First, the meddler is an irrelevant person who stares at Cyrano s nose because it is an abnormally large one. Due to Cyrano s sensitive personality, he believes that the meddler is condescending him. Therefore, Cyrano pressures the Meddler and forces him to say his opinion on Cyrano s nose. The meddler, knowing that Cyrano is ashamed of his large nose, says he has a small nose. Cyrano strangely took that as an insult and started saying fine values of himself. Here, the language of Cyrano depicts insecurity because insecure people are the ones who constantly search to boost self esteem. Telling this to Roxane or other important people is understandable, but to make these remarks to the Meddler proves that his insecurities are at another level. Then, Cyrano describes the Meddler s face as a blank, inglorious concavity , which means a plain, pointless face with a huge chin(I, 34). Here, Cyrano desperately tries to hide his insecurity by using his wit to degrade the Meddler. This makes the Meddler feel insecure because Cyrano called him ugly. According to Psychology Today, The insecure person makes you feel ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 5. From Spaniard And Indian Summary By the late eighteenth century, the New World, which was still remote, had formed its own complicated individual and national identities. Moreover, the disparate communities within Latin America had established a unique culture characterized by its hybridity. A close reading of Ignacio de Castro s From Spaniard and Indian, a Mestizo is born and Agostino Brunias s Planter and His Wife with a Servant reveals the racial hierarchy that formed amid Latin America s hybridity. Additionally, both objects specifically express Latin American hybridity for a white, European class, likely as a means to demystify and boost the standing of the New World. • 6. Larkin vs Abse on Relationships Essay Larkin and abse discussing relationships Philip Larkin and Dannie Abse have very different and contrating attitudes to relationships. On the whole, Larkin presents the concepts of love and marriage as very superficial and meaningless, whereas Abse appears to be less such nihilistic and more open and positive about such topics. The essay will discuss this contrast by examing Larkin s Whitsun Weddings , Wild Oats and Arundel Tomb , and Dannie Abse s Imitations and Sons . The poem entitled `The Whitsun Weddings` is an observational piece by Larkin when he was travelling from Hull to London by train. The poem has seven stanzas and is is typical of Larkin. The poem centres on Abse s thoughts about his son and how he has become an adolescent. Although the poem is rather negative, describing his son as a chameleon therefore suggesting his son is changing. However unlike in Whitsun Weddings is less pessimistic, saying that although he will die like his son his family name will be passed down the generations and expresses some affection for his offspring, whereas Larkin has no such optimism, he focuses on the fact that he has no son and probably never will, much like in Larkin s Dockery and Son where he contemplates his lack of contribution to his species existence of how his life when he dies will cease to have meaning. The poem An Arundel Tomb written by Phillip Larkin illustrates the relationship between two forms found on a tomb. This poem shows the lies love can tell, and the falseness of how their relationship is portrayed. The fact that their hands are clasped in one another s grip is seen to be symbolic of their undying and everlasting love for each other. Larkin uses humour, along with sarcasm and irony to demonstrate that this is in fact symbolic of nothing and merely by a sculptor s sweet commissioned grace . • 10. The Translator s Dilemma Of A Translator Essay Ages ago, Cicero summed up the translator s dilemma in the following words: If I render word for word, the result will sound uncouth and if compelled by necessity I alter anything in the order or wording, I shall seem to have departed from the function of a translator (qtd. in Bassnett 43). Translation in the first place, is transference of meaning from the Source Language (SL) to the Target Language (TL). But what matters is not a translation of words from SL to TL, for exact equivalence of words of the former is hard to get in the latter. Translation is both linguistic and cultural activity and it is concerned with communication of meaning. It is not merely lexical equivalent of words of one language to that of another, but much more. Since each word is charged with memory, associations and literary echoes, it is difficult to find full equivalence of a SL word in another word in TL. That is why, total or full translation is a myth. The translator has to make a balance between maintaining close fidelity to the original and utter freedom it. Sri Aurobindo is in favour of taking liberty with the original. He states that a translator is not necessarily bound to the original he chooses; he can make his own poem out of it, if he likes, and that is what is generally done (2). Translation is neither transliteration nor transcreation and it has to and it has to guard against the danger of word for word literal translation as well as taking too much liberty. In the name ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The paper is concluded with a brief summary, potential contribution and limitations of the same. REVIEW OF LITERATURE Forecasting literature is replete with a number of studies ranging from simple time series forecasting models to econometric models as also the forecasting models employing artificial intelligence techniques etc. Researchers have employed the forecasting models with a view to finding out the forecasted demand of traffic for a particular period. However, the study findings reveal that there does not exist a single model which consistently outperforms other models in all situations. Quantitative forecasting methods can be categorized under three broad heads: (1) time series modeling, (2) econometric models and (3) other quantitative models (Song and Li, 2008). Under time series models, several techniques are available, e.g. Moving Average, Exponential Smoothing, Holt s Model, Winter s Model, ARIMA etc. (Makridakis et al, 2003). In time series model, particular attention is paid to exploring the historic trends and patterns of the time series involved and to predict the future of this series based on trends and patterns identified in the model. Since time series models require only historical observations of a variable, it is less costly in data collection and model estimation. However, these models cannot account for the changes in demand that might occur in different periods. The major advantages of econometric models over ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 12. The Causes Of Family Dynamics Family Dynamics Student s Name Institution Family Dynamics Harmony among family members creates a sense of belonging and a feeling of security that is incomparable to other kinds of associations. However, the emergence of tension and conflict may threaten the prevailing coherence. Conflict is common to all families and siblings can occasionally disagree; still, continuing clashes can damage relationships and create unnecessary strains among relatives. Eventually, if such pressures are not resolved, they would affect family celebrations and make them edgy occasions. Family tensions can be effectively solved through attending family events, although they may cause siblings to boycott such occasions. Siblings who have spent most of their early lives together have common values and perceptions. Consequently, they are expected to live harmoniously together, as they hold common values, ethics, and beliefs. However, a common upbringing and shared values does not always imply coherent relationships. According to de Pontent, Aronoff, Mendoza, and Ward (2012) the order of birth, exposes children to different circumstances depending on their parent s prevailing economic conditions. Firstborns may arrive when the parents are not financial established. Consequently, they may adopt different viewpoints from their siblings born when the parents are more affluent. Moreover, birth order creates sibling rivalry; a cause of tension that may continue into adulthood. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 13. Comparison Between Hamlet And Ophelia Tyler Russell Mrs. Short English 4 20 October 2017 Hamlet Essay The two characters I m analyzing and comparing are Hamlet and Ophelia. I m choosing these two because they are very different, from two different families that don t like each other. But their in love at the same time. So I feel like Hamlet and Ophelia are the best options for this essay. Hamlet should have tried to express his love a little less so Ophelia s father wouldn t have found out about how madly in love with her Hamlet was. Hamlet and Ophelia were spending a lot of time together and Hamlet had told Ophelia the affection he had for her. Ophelia didn t know how to feel about Hamlet s affection for her because she knew how her father would feel about it. Somehow her father, Polonius, found out about the time they were spending together and the affection Hamlet had for Ophelia. He ordered Ophelia to spend no more time with hamlet and to not even speak to him. She said she would obey her father s orders to stay away from Lord Hamlet . Ophelia not talking to Hamlet really hurt Hamlet. He was very much in love with Ophelia. He knew they there two families didn t get along but he still had a whole lot of love for her. He wanted to marry her but deep down inside he should have known her father wasn t going to allow them to be married. There was just something about her that he couldn t resist, he just knew that she was the love of his life. Sometimes that s how things work out though you can t always get what you want.in life. But you can sure try your hardest to get what you want even though in this situation Hamlet Probably isn t getting what he wants which is Ophelia. Ophelia is drowned (pg. 77) . Many believe that she committed suicide and drowned herself and many also believe she actually accidentally drowned. There was a debate on whether she should get a christian burial because of the belief that she committed suicide. The helper said I heard she is to be giving a christian burial (pg 79) so i guess that she will be giving a christian burial but a lot of people don t agree because of the belief that she committed suicide. • 14. Essay On Pathos And Juxtaposition In Julius Caesar In Julius Caesar by William Shakespeare, the dictator of Rome is assassinated by his senators. Among which was one of his closest advisors, Brutus. Another friend of Caesar, named Marc Antony, hears of this assassination and is grief stricken. Together the two men speak to the citizens of Rome about their views of what is right. Firstly Brutus speaks, soon after Antony recites his side of the story. Although the crowd is swayed by both men, Antony is able to maintain the support of the people with his ideas and values. Antony was the better speech for a varying amount of rhetoric he used, among which are pathos and juxtaposition. Brutus uses these as well, but not as adequately. Throughout the two men s speeches, both try to invoke emotions in the people of Rome. Brutus attempts this first and is ultimately less effective than the pathos Antony uses throughout his speech. Brutus states, If there s anyone in this assembly, any dear friend of Caesar s, I say to him that my love for Caesar was no less than his. If, then, that friend demands to know why I rose up against Caesar, this is my answer: it s not that I loved Caesar less, but that I loved Rome more. In this statement, Brutus is directing the emotion towards himself instead of the people. He isn t allowing the people to feel for themselves; this is not an compelling way of using pathos. Antony uses a different method that creates a bigger rise out of the crowd. He does this by saying, Have patience, gentle ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In the novel, Annie did many things with her mother and look into the world through her mother. With all this, Annie wouldn t know what the world would be like with out her mother. Frances A. Nadeau, who wrote an article on the mother daughter relationship, said Understanding [this] relationship is critical to young adult girls because daughters bond with their mothers in a complex, interdependent association that often inhibits a daughter from establishing her own identity. Different people might describe this relationship in different ways but one common theme they have is that the daughter cannot do any thing without the mother and she also has her mothers image. In the novel, Annie and her mother were almost the same. They wore dresses cut from the same cloth; they went shopping together; and they even took bath together. She did many things with her mother and even wears the same cloth. Annie was like a little mirror of her mother. As the relationship gets to different stage in life it changes. For instance, the relationship you have with your mother when you are a child is different from the one you have during adolescence and it s also different when you are a mother yourself. But the most difficult stage is during adolescence. Adolescence is a difficult stage for both the mothers and daughters. • 20. Plato s Teachings Of Philosophy Plato was a well known philosopher who lived during the time of the distinguished Greek philosophers. He was born into a wealthy and very noble family in the Athens. In the midst of preparation for his life long career as a politician, the young Plato witnessed the trial and eventual execution of Socrates. Little did he or anyone know this would ultimately lead him to completely abandon his political career and become one of the world s most distinguished philosophers. Although Plato s teachings are not universally agreed upon, virtually anyone can agree that that he was a brilliant thinker and spurred many thoughts and beliefs that are carried into today s teachings of philosophy. While the precise relationship of Plato and Socrates remains a heated disagreement among scholars, Plato states that he was, in fact, a devoted follower of Socrates. Plato was highly influenced by Socrates teachings and highly disturbed by his execution, eventually leading him to establish an extremely powerful body of intellectual work. Plato is known to be a great writer as well as teacher. Some of Plato s most famous teachings and writings had to do with his powerful argument that was in favor of the objectivity of values. He taught that objective values are those that exist outside the individual and are otherwise dependent upon their individual perception or personal belief. • 25. Why We Should Be A Fee On Plastic Bags There should be a fee on plastic bags Why should we have to continue to litter or use plastic so that we can just toss them out when we don t need them any more? That is why I think there should be a fee. When we litter, as shown in the video those small things are winding up in the lakes and oceans and killing wildlife. Also I believe that befor you get a chance to litter and hurt wildlife you should pay the price not them. We should stop because plastic is not biodegradable so it will be around for a while if it ends up in a body of water. If there they stay and float in the water than it is a better chance of it to pose a threat for other water animals. There should be a fee on plastic bags because plastic is not biodegradable, every square mile of the ocean has 46,000 pieces of plastic, and they have external cost. One important reason that there should be a fee on plastic bags are that they are biodegradable and that means that they are not going away anytime soon. According to creeklife.com 46,000 pieces of plastic are floating in any body of water. So that means that 23,000 animals are in danger. The modern humans, evolved from archaic humans, have been roaming the Earth for about 17,000 years. Over the last fifty years, human population grew faster than it has ever before. In the 1960s, the world population was at about 3 billion people, increasing to an estimate of 6 billion people by 1999. The expected growth of world population from 6 billion people in 1999 is about 9 billion people by 2044, causing the world to become overpopulated. The word population causes many different reactions and thoughts. The reason that anger is one of the main reactions is that many are aware of how population growth can damage the Earth and affect the future. At the beginning of the movies, we see how food and water set Chihiro, Sosuke, and Ponyo s entire adventures, and the conflict they endure and how they were perceived in the spirit and human worlds. The spirit world was less tolerant of anything different whereas the human world was more welcoming; however, they both illustrated the same message about how people should be more open minded and to be more accepting. An example in Spirited Away showed how the Spirit world viewed Chihiro as nothing more than just a human being who came to their world to cause trouble, according to Yubaba; whereas in the human world, Ponyo was welcomed by Sosuke, even though at the start of the movie, Ponyo was appeared to be a goldfish, nevertheless she was still welcomed by a human. In 1867, working men in towns were given the right to vote and this meant the number of voters doubled which increased again in 1884 and this mean politics changed drastically. In the 1870s/1880s many new laws were passed which were designed to improve the lives of ordinary people such as the Public Health Act in 1875. Combined with the data we gathered from research that half of Madison residents do not have access to cars, we identified that Madison might be a food desert . The people in Madison have very limited options in terms of access to food, and are thus forced to spend comparatively more of their resources in order to access the food they need. • 38. Welfare Argument Analysis The welfare system has a been a debatable topic for many years now. People have various viewpoints that relate to the welfare system. Most people believe that the welfare system is abused. On the other hand, people do not mind paying more money for the less fortunate to be provided with food, shelter, etc. This is a hard topic to consider because there are countless variables that play a major role in how much money one could receive from welfare or other forms of government assistance. Mountain Heights Academy presents an argumentative speech. In this argument, the unknown author addresses that the welfare system must be reformed because the current system has only increased poverty levels. Assumptions weaken an argument because it is often difficult to argue unless the audience shares the same assumptions. The assumptions need to clearly be explained and not left for interpretation. The author claims that several of the families keep having more babies to increase their handouts from the government (Mountain Heights Academy). However, the author seems to have no background such as being a social worker which deals with assisting lower class people with government funding such as welfare. They additionally have no proof that people have children only to receive money from the government. Also, the opposing side is never addressed. There are some individuals and families that truly need the welfare system to assist them sometimes. They do not necessarily live off it or have children only to collect money from the government. This assumption can be interpreted many ways because there is no proof. This assumption weakens the argument tremendously. For instance, the author mentioned that the welfare program as we know does absolutely nothing that it was set up to do (Mountain Heights Academy). The author remarks that welfare system does nothing, but does not provide any facts or other information to support the assumption. Information or research could have been provided to justify why the current welfare system does nothing. This assumption is left for interpretation by the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 39. Criminal Behavior Theories Paper This week our focus is on theories of criminal behavior and why people choose the behavior they do. According to (Adler, Mueller, Laufer, 2012), there are three main criminal behavior theories; Labeling theory, Conflict theory and the Radical theory. Each theory outlines different perspectives on why an individual engages in criminal activity along with the public s reaction. The first theory is the Labeling theory which was first contemplated by Charles Horton Cooley, William I. Thomas, and George Herbert Mead around 1918. It is one of the most important approaches to understanding criminal behavior. It basically theorizes that no one act is inherently criminal, but it is merely the interaction and relationship between the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In upscale neighborhoods, these acts may be looked at by parents, teachers, and police as innocent aspects of the process of growing up. In poor areas, on the other hand, these same activities might be seen as tendencies towards juvenile delinquency, which suggests that differences of class and race play an important role in the process of assigning labels of criminal activity (Adler et al., 2012). Next we look at the Conflict theory. Conflict theory states that tensions and conflicts arise when resources, status, and power are unevenly distributed between groups in society and that these conflicts become the reason for social change. In this context, power can be understood as control of material resources and accumulated wealth, control of politics and the institutions that make up society, and one s social status relative to ... • 42. Max Weber And Karl Marx On Modern Capitalism Max Weber and Karl Marx on Modern Capitalism Anna Thor Sociology 475: Classical Sociological Theory Capitalism has continued to affect the way our society works as it is vital to our society. Two sociologists named Karl Marx and Max Weber have explained what they saw the historical emergence of modern capitalism. Both Karl Marx and Max Weber saw the significance of evolution of modern capitalism in the United States. Although both of the sociologists have differing views on how they saw the emergence of modern capitalism, there are also crossover and similarities in what they find as well as what they think should be done differently. Either way, both Karl Marx and Max Weber make significant explanations of capitalism which we can see that is still relevant today. First of all, capitalism is the production of commodity for purposes of sales. It is an economic system where the means of production, distribution and exchange of wealth is made by individuals or corporations. The origin of capitalism starts when the producer wants to increase the sums of values they possessed and buys the laborer s power for cheap and therefore increase the profits the producer makes (Tucker, p 432). Capitalism also involves with hierarchy of labor, production, wage labor, and surplus value, technology, and religion. The process used to determine special education starts when either a teacher or a parent makes a referral to have an individual student evaluated to determine if there is a disability. Gibb and Dyches (2016) state, Academic achievement refers to gaining requisite skills and knowledge for success in school (p. 47), and functional performance can be defined as applying knowledge and skills to meet daily needs (p. 47). Reading, writing, and math are academic achievement skills that are crucial to the students learning because they all are required for other subjects. In contrary, functional performance involves adaptive skills such as feeding and dressing oneself, and meeting appropriate school behaviors. Gibb and Dyches (2016) mention that the PLAAFP statement derives from reviewing the curriculum standards for academic achievement, determining the students current academic strengths and limitations, and assessing the students current functional strengths and limitations (p. 48). Measurable Annual Goals Measurable annual goals are used to identify what the individual student is expected to achieve within one year to address what effects the disability has caused. Gibb and Dyches (2016) define the word measurable as the behavior stated in the goal can be observed and measured to determine when it has been achieved (p. 60). Therefore, in order to be considered a measurable academic and functional performance goal the goal must be able to be measured, must meet the individual student needs that are in relation to the disability and cause problems within the general education curriculum, and must also meet any other additional ... • 45. Militant Islam Is The Exact Opposite Of What My Essay... Militant Islam is the exact opposite of what my essay title states. Many Muslims will tell you firsthand that the radical Islamist you see in the news do not practice true Islam. They go against almost every moral code in the Qu ran and hadiths by falsely interpreting a few passages. So, how then did this new religious cult form and shock the entire western world on a day known as 9/11. Groups like these have been in existence since the early 1930s and the Middle Eastern world has been forced to face these people head on in their daily lives . This is not a new trend in the world, groups like Nazi Germany and Communist Russia, so why do these terrorist groups come as such a big shock? Studying radical Islam is necessary so we can truly combat it in the social and political world. When people hear the word Jihad (and they are not Muslim) it automatically sends a chill down their spine. This term has come to mean in the news a religious war against anyone who is not a conservative Muslim . In the Qu ran (the holy text) it means something very different. They believe that Jihad has a dual meaning, that the person should strengthen their relationship with Allah and teach others about him . In terrorist groups they call for the death of all those who stand in the way of Islam and see the Western world as oppressors of their faith. This frame of mind comes from the push of Christianity into these countries and the formation of Israel. Many of the terrorist groups we ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 46. Atp Human Movement Process ATP (adenosine triphosphate) is a molecule used for human movement. Even though ATP is being constantly produced, it is not produced fast enough to keep us moving for long periods of time. Thus, we have the three metabolic pathways; the ATP/CP (creatine phosphate) pathway, the glycolytic pathway, and the aerobic oxidative pathway to continuously provide our bodies with ATP during any activity. Each pathway has a storage of ATP which can only rebuild so quickly. Once ATP depletes from one system the next system takes over. The ATP/CP pathway requires no oxygen for energy use and is utilized during short periods of time; no more than 3 to 15 seconds of high intensity work before ATP runs out. If I was an experienced runner, I would aim to do activities other than running to improve my fitness and prevent and rehabilitate any injuries I may have acquired from running too much. A total body strength training session such as swimming or biking would help keep my heart rate up and help build my endurance. However, if I was brand new to running, I would first start by running a few times a week, around 20 minutes a day depending on how my cardio was and worked up from there every week; until I felt I was ready to run the marathon.
