Cultural Essay
Crafting an essay on the topic of "Cultural Essay" can be both a challenging and rewarding
endeavor. The difficulty arises from the broad and multifaceted nature of culture itself. Culture
encompasses a vast array of elements, including traditions, customs, beliefs, art, language, and
social structures. Consequently, attempting to encapsulate the richness and diversity of cultures
in a single essay can be a daunting task.
One of the challenges lies in striking a balance between depth and breadth. Given the vastness of
the topic, it can be tempting to delve into every nuance of a particular culture or explore various
cultures extensively. However, this may result in an overly lengthy and unfocused essay. On the
other hand, trying to cover too much ground in a limited space may lead to oversimplification
and superficial analysis.
Additionally, navigating cultural sensitivity is crucial. Addressing diverse cultural perspectives
requires a nuanced approach to avoid perpetuating stereotypes or misrepresentations. Writers
must tread carefully to ensure that their portrayals are respectful, accurate, and culturally aware.
Furthermore, the dynamic nature of culture poses another challenge. Culture is not static; it
evolves over time due to various factors such as globalization, technological advancements, and
social changes. This dynamism adds a layer of complexity to the essay, requiring the writer to
acknowledge and analyze cultural shifts while maintaining a coherent narrative.
Research becomes a vital aspect of the writing process. A well-rounded cultural essay demands
in-depth exploration of relevant literature, historical contexts, and contemporary developments.
Juggling various sources and perspectives requires meticulous research skills to present a
comprehensive and well-supported argument.
In conclusion, composing a cultural essay is a demanding task that necessitates a delicate balance
between depth and breadth, cultural sensitivity, awareness of dynamism, and thorough research.
Despite its challenges, successfully navigating these aspects can lead to a rich and enlightening
exploration of the intricate tapestry of human cultures.

How the Character of Macbeth Changes Between Act I Scene iii, and Act III Scene I
Shakespeare uses many different methods to show that Macbeth changes greatly
between Act I Scene iii and Act III Scene i, these include his use of language in
speeches and directional action. Banquo s reaction in Act I Scene iii shows that
Macbeth is initially afraid of the prophecy. Macbeth s own speech indicates that he is
unsure of the truth in what he has been told, but is both intrigued and excited by the
thought of becoming king, however, he is confused by his inner thoughts of murder
and deceit. His speech in Act I Scene iii shows that he is still loyal to Banquo.
However, by Act III Scene i his irrational... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He asks Macbeth, Why do you start and seem to fear, things that do sound so fair?
The word start suggests that Macbeth has jumped in fright and bewilderment. The
phrase seem to fear, shows us that Macbeths expression betrays the fact that he is
shocked and in awe of what the witches have said.
====================================================================
In Act I, Scene iii, Macbeth is still acting friendly to Banquo, even though he is
starting to perceive him as a threat. This is shown by the two quotes, My thought,
whose murder yet is but fantastical, and, till then, come friends. The words, My
thoughts, and, yet is but fantastical, indicate that he is thinking about murder, but as
yet does not know why and that he is deciding not to act upon his thoughts yet, but
to leave them to fate. The phrase, Come friends, shows that he is still acting friendly
to the other characters, when we know that he is really dwelling on the thought of
murder.
====================================================================
However, in Act III Scene i, Macbeth s desperation to remain king has grown, and
his friendship with Banquo is coming second place to him being king. This is shown
by the quote, upon my head they placed a fruitless crown, and put a barren sceptre in
my grip. The
Why Is Serena Williams Important
A Brief History of Serena Williams
Luck has nothing to do with it, because I have spent many, many hours, countless
hours, on the court working for my one moment in time, not knowing when it would
come Serena Williams. Becoming a champion doesn t happen to just anyone, it takes
dedication, determination, and talent. Serena Williams is a champion because she
has all of these qualities. Since childhood tennis has been a part of her life, she went
from diapers to tennis skirts. Family, mainly her father, has been her main influence.
She s gone through major losses as well as some major accomplishments. Serena

She completed her first career grand slam in 2003, winning the French Open, U.S.
Open, and Wimbledon, in 2002, defeating her sister Venus in the finals of each
tournament, as well as winning the Australian Open in 2003. She is only one of
six women to complete a grand slam. She dubbed her winning of all of these major
titles as the Serena Slam . She had a series of highs as well as a series of lows. She
had knee surgery in August of the year 2003, and in September of that same year,
her half sister Yetunda Price was murdered in Los Angeles, California due to a
random act of violence. Three years later Serena Williams fell to a ranking of 139
because she was no longer motivated to stay as fit as before and to compete on the
same level. To renew her competitive spirit Serena went on a life changing journey
to West Africa, as well as writing and releasing an autobiography titled, Queen of
the Court, in 2009. In 2009 she won her place back as ranking top in the world by
winning the Australian Open singles for the fourth time as well as the Wimbledon
singles for the third time. After this high, Serena hit another low when not
everything went as smoothly as it could have been. She made headlines for calling
out a lineswoman for a foot fault that was called during her semifinal loss to Kim
Clijsters at the U.S. Open. There was profanity and according to the lineswoman an
alleged threat from Serena, against her life. Serena downplayed what happened
saying that she didn t threaten the woman, but the incident didn t bode well for her
reputation. She was fined $10,000 on the spot from the U.S. Tennis Association, and
two months later she was placed on a two year probation and ordered to pay an
additional fine of $82, 500 to the Grand Slam committee. This incident resulted in the
largest punishment that was ever given to a tennis player. By 2010, moving past this
incident she won the Australian Open singles and double

Being a Chef is one of those professions that people love to dream about, a lot of
people think that being a chef means that you only cook all day. Wrong! As a matter
of fact they cook, clean, run the kitchen, and tell the other cooks what to do. The
life of a cook is way more work than you think. Yes cooking is what they love to do

ordering ingredients, setting prices and checking stock. They work very long

heard her up, talking to him. This was pretty normal but that night my mother

suppose that big power plant is all anyone even remembers about where I lived.
Before the accident though, our town thrived. People were constantly walking on

An Overview of Republican Motherhood
Republican Motherhood is a term used to describe women s attitudes and roles
before, during, and after the American Revolution. These republican mothers,
daughters of patriots, were raised with the ideals of republicanism, and were expected
to pass on these ideals to the next generation. Republican Motherhood enforced the
concept that a domestic women s domain of life should be kept somewhat separate
from men, and that their role was extremely important in raising the next generation.
Republican Motherhood also encouraged that women should be educated, which
added a sense of importance and dignity that had been absent from previous
conceptions of women s work. John Adamsand his wife, Abigail are exemplary of
Republican Motherhood. Abigail Smith was born in 1744 in Massachusetts, into a
well known and respected family. On her mother s side were descendants of a
family of great prestige, and her father was a Congregational minister, who was the
leader in a society. Like other women of her time, Smith lacked education, but she
was a curious and intelligent person and she read enthusiastically the books that she
could get access to. Reading led her to meeting John Adams, and they got married
in 1764. John Adams career was in politics, so Abigail was kept away from her
husband for long periods of time as he served the country. Abigail Adamsdied in
1818, after 17 years of peaceful retirement with her husband in Quincy, Massachusetts.

Beethoven Op-2 Essay
In the first movement of Beethoven s Piano Sonata No. 1 in F Minor, op. 2, the
composer draws on a variety of stylistic strands that contributed to the evolution of the
mature classical style. Through an analysis of specific musical elements, which
include references to form and style, structure, harmony, thematic material, dynamics
and textural considerations, I will show how Beethoven adheres to the formal and
stylistic conventions associated with the sonata during this period, as well as how he
asserted his own voice, creating his own Beethovenian style. Beethoven makes use of
a multitude of styles throughout the exposition, moving from style galant to Sturm
und Drang and ending in empfandsamer. The primary themein mm. 1 8 exemplifies
the qualities of style galant. Beethoven uses a two measure long motive repeatedly in
the right hand and block chords in the left. The dominant right hand melody with
chordal accompaniment in the left is an indicator for style galant. In m. 9 he begins
the transition away from F minor, and arrives at A flat Major in m. 20. As he
introduces new material in mm. 15 19, Beethoven continues to use these qualities.
After the transition comes the secondary theme in m. 20. The secondary theme
displays a legato lyrical ascending pattern with chromatic points, varying drastically
from the much more detached melody in the first primary theme. The secondary
theme starts at pianolike the first theme, but varies its dynamics with forzandos on

Growing Up Research Paper
Growing up in Theresa was an experience that will live with me until the day I die.
Theresa is a town with a population of roughly 2,000 people and it is very rural.
Theresa is a blue collar community where everyone works hard and everyone plays
hard. I saw this 24/7 at home. It was a small town. Everyone knew what was going
on with everything in the town. The town of Theresa was basically one giant family. I
went to school their from Kindergarten through 4th grade. The school was three
blocks from my house and I would walk to school and back every single day. I
usually had people who would walk with me. Some of those people I am still friends
with to this very day. This was were I got my very first taste of school and first taste
of friendship. One friend that I have made in Theresa is standing up in my wedding

Ethical Systems
There are seven different major ethical systems and they are: ethical formalism,
utilitarianism, religion, natural law, ethics of virtue, ethics of care, and egoism. All
seven of these ethical systems are dealt with on a daily basis and sometimes it is
hard to determine which one you are dealing with. Ethical systems intertwine with
one another and make up how humans respond and react to situations they are
faced with every day. Each ethical system has its own way of coming across to each
individual, and it is also going to depend on how each individual person looks at the
problems and situations they are dealing with. Ethical formalism is the good that
conforms to the categorical imperative (University of Phoenix, 2005). I also... Show

Religion is also confusing in a way because so many people have different beliefs
and there are also people that do not believe at all that they were placed here by
someone or something. It is hard to determine whether this would be morally
wrong, and I cannot make a decision whether or not this is close to my beliefs.
Every religion is different and looks at situations of non believers differently.
Natural law is the good that which is natural (University of Phoenix, 2005). This
completely falls into the teleological aspect of ethical systems. The teleological
system revolves around everything that is naturally occurring and is meant to
happen sooner or later. Natural law is inherited among humans and determines how
humans react to one another and situations going on around them. Natural law
gives off validity and is set in stone; this determines easily whether or not
something is good or bad. An example of natural law would be the common sense
of certain situations and determining whether something was right or wrong.
Natural law is what makes people who they are and they are the determining factor
to what happens. I would consider this close to what I believe in because I believe
that people have a huge effect on what happens around us. Ethics of virtue is good
that which conforms to the Golden Mean (University of Phoenix, 2005). The ethics

Theme Of Tintern Abbey By William Wordsworth
Upon the very first reading of William Wordsworth s Lines Composed a Few Miles
Above Tintern Abbey, on Revisiting The Banks of The Wye During a Tour, 13th
July 1798 , one comes across the theme of memory and Wordsworth s love for nature
( themes frequently explored by Wordsworth in several of his poems). However, both
these themes work in an inter connected and intertwined manner in the said poem.
The very first line itself sets a nostalgic mood to the poem. It depicts Wordsworth s
contemplation and reflection of the past.
Five years have past; five summers, with the length of five long winters! And again I

He realizes that while the nature, the landscape surrounding Tintern Abbey has
remained the same and will remain the same, he has and will change. In the last
stanza, Wordsworth s tone changes to slight anxiousness. There is a binary created
of remembrance and forgetfulness. It could be because he desires a sense of
immortality just like the beauteous forms in the minds of his readers and Dorothy.
He wishes his readers and his sister to draw comfort and solace from him just as the
nature gives him comfort and solace. Thus, keeping his memory

affirms that the St. Anthony Bridge is a truss, but the project team proposed adding a
posttensioned concrete bottom chord to the steel truss in order to reinforce it. The
project team made this choice because one bridge in Minnesota has collapsed in
2007, and the engineers wanted to lessen the fracture critical issues to avoid a new

Raymond Bamhart Definition Of Ethics Essay
What is Ethics
Ethical behavior, an action a human may find challenging to balance in one s life.
One is encompassed with daily decisions to choose right from wrong. For example,
being late for work, one may decide to speed to get to work on time, knowing if
you re late for work again you could lose your job. So one may decide to get to
work on time, regardless of the consequences of possibly getting a ticket, causing an
accident and putting the lives of others in danger which could be one s worst
nightmare. How does one define ethics?
Raymond Baumhart, a sociologist gave insight on what Ethics means in his
viewpoint. He had mentioned that when feelings are put into the equation, it can have
drawbacks of doing what is morally correct. Also, putting Religion in an Ethical
review can undermine the one s that do not believe or have different beliefs.
Religion will give some people inner peace, and it may give the foundation to think
morally, but religion and ethics are not equivalent. Furthermore, laws are put into
place to maintain some structure of what is acceptable in the eyes of the law, ... Show

Having a foundation of supporting and morally correct role models will instill the
values to act with good intentions. Also, ethics to me is acts of kindness and
compassion. I strongly believe to treat others how you want to be treated. However,
there will always be situations where one will have to make the choice of choosing
one decision over the other to protect what you think is morally correct at the time.
For example, a doctor might think he has a medical moral obligation whereas the
family may override the Doctor s moral dilemma and deal with the consequences.
Some people may feel intimidated by one s status, but if one is taught strong values
at the beginning of life, deciding the right thing to do, may just be second nature to

formed by family s economic status, level of education, racial or ethnic

In specific, we should protect the rivers, oceans, and forests. The community
should be doing everything they can to protect the environment because polluting
the ocean and cutting down the forests will just create more problems in the near

been news and articles on how our resources are becoming scarce, such as clean
drinking water and habitats for the wildlife, which leads to my opinion of
protecting them from further damage. If we did not have this issue, the
environment and society would not have to struggle with limiting resources. My
major influences on my opinion is the surroundings I see going on everyday in my
environment, as well as how my parents raised my morals to be. Based on what my
parents have taught me, we should never be wasteful of our resources. Ever since I
was a kid, my parents always made me finish all my food and if I did not finish it; I
would be in big trouble obviously and had to sit there till I finished all of my food.
This also led to the mindset that there are other people out there that do not have as
much resources depending on the environment they live in. The area that I grew up
in has not always been so neat, therefore I would always go to the volunteering events
or any other event that would improve the environment that we are living in. During

Prejudice, Prejudice And Prejudice
These days, there is a marked prejudice against prejudice, and understandably so.
More often than not, prejudice refers to an antipathy based upon a faulty and
inflexible generalization. 1 Insofar as prejudice refers to thought or action beclouded
by hatred, it warrants condemnation, not defense. However, prejudicealso has a
broader meaning. According to the Oxford Shorter Dictionary, it is: a preconceived
opinion; bias unfavorable or favorable. 2 It refers to life circumstances and
perspective. Prejudice is any source of judgment whose validity one has not
ascertained for oneself. The aspiration to banish prejudice in this broad sense reflects
the assumption that rational judgment must be untainted by prejudgments of any
kind. This way of thinking about judgment, and the renunciation of fixed ideas it
implies, is misguided. Prejudice gives life experiences their subjective meanings. But
prejudice can also be both illuminating and consistent with freedom. The concept of
detached judgment (itself a kind of prejudice) was shaped during the Enlightenment
(1685 1815). As Hans Georg Gadamer points out, The history of ideas shows that not
until the Enlightenment does the concept of prejudice acquire the negative
connotation familiar today. 3 The word prejudice actually comes from prejudgment,
which means [having] either a positive or negative value. This meaning, he continues,
was limited during the Enlightenment to the sense of an unfounded judgment that
Essay On The Conqueror Worm
Edgar Allan Poe wrote Ligeia in 1838. This short story was possibly one of his
strangest pieces of work he has ever written. Poe originally published the short
story without the poem The Conqueror Worm , but in a later publish in 1845
included the mysterious piece. The poem plays a significant role in Ligeia, as
Ligeia herself writes the poem a few days prior to her death. The Conqueror Worm
enhances the main theme of Ligeia, which is the power of the dead over the living,
and mortality. Poe begins his story with in a blur, unable to make up many important
things about Ligeia, such as her family history, how they met, where she came from,
and even her last name. Poe did not however forget one crucial thing about lady
Ligeia: her passion. Though much of her background was lapsed and forgotten, her

She requested him to recite a poem she wrote a few days prior called The
Conqueror Worm . The poem tells the allegorical history of mankind, acting as a
frame story where the outside is angles watching and the inside as the play itself.
In the first stanza, he says, bedight in veils, and drowned in tears. With this, he
announces the figure of angels, which are correlated with goodness and with
heaven. Their sorrow gives the reader an early indication that the play is likely to
be a tragedy. The next few stanza s provide information for the rising action and the
climax occurs with the entrance of the Conqueror Worm. The last stanza goes back
to the outside frame for the falling action. After he finishes reciting the poem, she
screams at the injustice of the poem s suggestions about existence. She repeats
Joseph Glanvill s quote, And the will therein lieth. The quote essentially states that
man only dies because of his lack of will. This despair contrasts with Ligeia s
resistance and by the end of the story, we see that Ligeia has found the will to return
from the dead by taking over another woman s

The Gospel Of Wealth By Andrew Carnegie
Wealth is something that not all people have, but most typically want more of it.
There are many people on Earth that wish they had more wealth, and there are even
a select few that have too much. The Gospel of Wealth by Andrew Carnegie is all
about what should be done when there is too much wealth held by an individual.
Carnegie begins his essay by describing how the disparity of wealthhas changed over
the years. He also describes how wealth has simply grown in general over time.
Carnegie states, What were the luxuries have become the necessaries of life . He
then goes on to discuss ways that excess wealth accumulated by any one person can
be spent or distributed. There are three ways, or modes, that Carnegie touches on in
order to dispose
A Computer Based Information Systems With Diagnostic...
Abstract
A number of computer based information systems with diagnostic capabilities have
been developed for medicine. Quick Medical Reference (QMR) is a widely used
program. Here are the key features of QMR and report on their study of its
effectiveness as a diagnostic tool. After investigating how frequently the correct
diagnosis would appear among the 5 highest ranked diagnoses generated by QMR.
QMR is a computer program for internal medicine. It can generate a differential
diagnosis from clinical information entered into its program, offer information on
over 600 diseases, describe associated disorders and complications of diseases, offer
strategies to confirm or exclude disorders, and provide simulated cases for
educational purposes.
Introduction
QMR:
Developed out of INTERNIST I, Quick Medical Reference (QMR) is an in depth
information resource that helps physicians to diagnose adult diseases. It provides
electronic access to more than 750 diseases representing the vast majority of the
disorders seen by internists and physicians in daily practice.
QMR uses more than 5,000 clinical findings to describe the features of diseases in
the QMR knowledge base. Findings include medical history, symptoms, physical
signs, and laboratory test results. Laboratory test results are subdivided into three
categories based on increasing levels of cost and invasiveness. QMR findings

Pompeii Site Analysis
Tourism can be one of the most destructive forces facing archaeological sites and
their conservators. Tourists can cause damage by disregarding signs prohibiting
touching or littering. Parts of sites may need to be manipulated or even destroyed to
allow for visitor access. Striking a balance between allowing the public to interact
with a site and preserving it is very difficult. Some sites, like Bet She an in Israel,
give tourists the freedom to touch monuments and even climb onto them to give the
visitors authentic experiences, despite the damage it causes. Others, like Pompeii in
Italy, keep tourists within certain bounds to protect the sites. This paper examines the
advantages and disadvantages of replicating archaeological sites as... Show more

They have had to battle issues like tourists lack of sensitivity to conservation issues,
such as the damage caused by visitors sitting or leaning on delicate masonry and
marble, a threat to conservation. Visitors have even been caught splashing water onto
mosaics to freshen them up for pictures. Additionally, the general movement of
tourists causes the gradual wearing down of the roads and pavements. Tourists also
might take chips of stone from the site, as well as accidentally brush against the walls
and frescoes, further increasing their rate of deterioration (Wallace 2013). In studies
to understand the tourism of the site, it was discovered that many of these tourists
damaging actions were not done maliciously, but out of a desire to experience the
site. However, the open nature of Pompeii for tourists is also a leading cause in
vandalism, graffiti and theft. Some of the vandalism involves scratching one s
name into a wall and also stems from a desire to experience the site and tie it to one
s self, but that does not make it any less unacceptable. Steps have been taken to
restrict tourists to conserve parts of the site. The governing body for Pompeii has
begun issuing new tickets that allow for tourists to visit cities such as Herculaneum
and Stabiae, to reduce the pressure on Pompeii. Additionally, there are cautioning
signs, roped off areas and closed buildings, but the site continues to suffer from the
impulses of its visitors (Wallace

Grief... Grief is a surreal thing. You do not understand grief until you have felt it.
Grief clouds your mind. When you loose someone you love, there is no physical
pain that can compare to it. I believe that getting hit by a car is less painful than grief.
I believe in my mind, my heart and my soul that grief is worth than physical pain.

The Effects Of Writing On Feminist Theory
The Effects of Writing on Feminist Theory
Throughout known history, societies that have developed across the globe have
favored men. Men were permitted to be lawyers, doctors, voters, and land owners;
however, one of the most influential, yet underpaid occupations for an individual is
the writer. Men have served for centuries as the mouthpiece for truth regarding all
things, until early feminists pushed for girls to receive education including key
success skills such as reading and writing. Most men were not thrilled about this
revolutionary change. Their efforts to uphold the traditional roles of women are
expressed through the character Gaston in Disney s Beauty and the Beast: It s not

Feminist theory was developed to recognize injustices against women, and proposes
action to change the situation universally (Young 20). The 1960s and 70s brought
second wave feminism, which occurred during the same time as the Civil Rights
movement and protests against the Vietnam War (Rich 7). The second wave of
feminism was said to be a transition focused on individual rights (Freedman 3).
Feminists who belonged to other minority groups received poor recognition from
mainstream feminists (Rich 31). Many issues among feminists themselves can be
seen on a larger scale throughout society itself; however, in order for second wave
feminism to be a success, cultural issues such as homophobia and racism needed to
be ironed out from within the group before feminists could expect any forward
progress. Due to poor recognition from white feminists, Black Feminism, as well as
several other subcategories of feminism, developed during this time (Freedman 4).
Black feminism arose from the civil rights movement and mainstream feminism.
From civil rights activists, black women were treated as second class citizens , and
racism came from their fellow feminist sisters. Black women ran an uphill battle,
fighting racism, classism, and even at times homophobia (Rich 32).
Black women are inherently valuable, and that our liberation is a necessity not as an
adjunct to somebody else s but because of our need as human persons for autonomy

Walmart Minimum Wage
No firm in the world matches the economic imprint of Walmart. The retailer, based
in Arkansas and known across America for its vast supercenters and low prices, is
known as the world s largest company by revenue. Its 2.2m worldwide workforce is
about the same size as China s army. Sam Walton built his empire with a relentless
focus on costs: Control your expenses better than your competition. This is where
you can always find the competitive advantage, he said. (1.) In April 2015 Walmart
abruptly raised the wages of its lowestВpaid staff: all now earn at least $9 an hour.
On February 1st it rose to $10 an hour for trainedВup workers fully oneВthird higher
than the federal minimum wage. The change is curious, because in the past... Show

But the firm now says that higher wages come before price cuts: You clean up your
house before you invite people over, argues Mr McMillon. (4.) Wage rises are
certainly denting profits. Walmart s share price barely moved when they were first
announced in February last year, suggesting that investors thought them immaterial at
first. But in October the firm warned that it expected profits to fall by 6В12% in
2017, with higher wages responsible for threeВquarters of the shortfall. Following
that announcement, the share price fell by 10% its biggest oneВday drop since 1988.
It seems that minimum wage has the edge in that argument. A transfer from capital
to labour, though, is precisely what campaigners want to achieve. A more potent
criticism of higher wages is that they cause job losses. And on January 15th
Walmart announced that it would close 154 stores in America, with the possible
loss of 10,000 However not every firm would find it easy to copy Walmart. Wages
only cost retailers 9.5% of their revenues. In the foodВandВdrink industry a prime

Hemodynamics
Question 1: Hemodynamic changes resulting from trauma associated bleeding
Answer: Hemodynamics is an essential part of cardiovascular physiology dealing
with the forces that govern the blood flow in various segments of the cardiovascular
system (Wade, 2013). The pumping action of the heart makes pulsatile blood flow,
which flows into the arteries, through the micro circulation and finally, returns via the
venous system to the heart. In the course of each heartbeat, systemic arterial blood
force varies among a systolic and diastolic pressure. Blood flow ensures the
transportation of nutrients, hormones, metabolic wastes, O2 and CO2 all over the

Titanium appears on the periodic table under the symbol Ti. The transition metal is
known for being very strong. When a person thinks of an element that is very strong,
they also think that the item would be very heavy. Titanium is different; the element

after the strong Greek mythology Titans (History of Titanium). The element,
Titanium, is one of the most abundant elements. The metallic element is found in

The factors also make it a great candidate for surgical instruments. Since the
element is resistant to corrosion from things such as sea water and chlorine, it is
often found being used in the industrial world. One of the most common places that
Titanium is found is in desalination plants, which convert sea water into drinking
water. The element is used in heat exchangers; if the heat exchangers were made of
a different element they would need to be replaced more often due to corrosion. A
very strong alloy is produced when Titanium is combined with iron, aluminum,
vanadium, and molybdenum. This alloy is found in large items such as: jet engines,
missiles, spacecraft, military equipment, and even automobiles. The alloy is also
used in many things that we are known to love. Americans usually carry items with
them everyday that are made up of this alloy. For example, right now in my car I

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Bio-Diesel
6.5.2.Bio diesel
Chemically, bio diesel is a methyl ester of C16 C18 saturated and unsaturated fatty
acids obtained through base, acid or enzyme catalyzed transesterification of vegetable
oils with methanol. Enzyme catalyzed transesterification make the whole production
process considerably sustainable and greener. In Europe, biodiesel is made
predominantly from rape seed oil. Worldwide so many plants have been used for
the production of biodiesel such as jojoba oil, jatropha oil, karanja oil etc.

Disadvantages
Besides having several advantages plant based renewable raw materials few
limitations associated with their use are given below:
Most of the plant products that can be used as a building block for industries have
conventionally been used as food resources. Plant resources need lots a space for
their development. Biomass is essentially seasonal, which affect their continuous
supply as a feedstock. A broad range of materials that comprise biomass could be
damage if new processes need to be developed for each feedstock. The building
blocks extracted from biomass are foreign to traditional chemical producers and must
be demonstrated to function similarly to existing building blocks.
8.Conclusions
Plant based raw materials are already replacing fossil based materials. They have high
substitution potential especially for the products that have direct contact to humans
e.g. tenside in detergents, pharmaceuticals and cosmetics. In addition to that, their
cost effectiveness and high concerns for environmental consequences promote their
use in various industries. In the future, plant derived chemicals are expected to play
an increasingly significant role in the commercial development of new
The Decline Of The Protestant Reformation
Introduction:
The Protestant Reformation was a religious act in the 1500 s that split the Christian
Church in Western Europe and led to the establishment of many new churches. It
effected spiritual thought, philosophy, political work, and the economies of several
countries all around the world. The effects of the Reformation can still be felt in
modern times. Stimulated by a devout and renowned German Monk, Martin Luther,
this reformation sent shockwaves throughout Europe and played a significant role in
shaping the Catholic Church. But what was the Protestant Reformation, what caused it
and what were its impacts?
Body:
The Catholic Church in The Early 16th Century: In the 1500 s, the Church had
been viewed for a long time as an organization taken over by inner power struggles.
Popes and Cardinals lived more like royals than spiritual leaders. Popes had both
political and spiritual power. They ordered armies, made political agreements, and,
even led war. Obviously, if the Pope was spending a considerable amount of time on
these worldly matters, there wasn t much time left to care for the faithful
(Grabowski, 2013). Also, the sale of indulgences was a procedure in which, the
Church received a donation or money in return for a paper (an indulgence), that
guaranteed that your spirit would enter heaven more swiftly by reducing your time in
purgatory. Worldly matters were clearly
Benefits Of An Limited Liability Company From A Legal...
The LLC remains a limited liability company from a legal standpoint, but for tax
purposes it can be treated as an S Corp. Be sure to contact the state s income tax
agency where you plan to file your election form. Ask about the tax requirements and
if they recognize elections of other entities (such as the S Corp).
Advantages of an LLC:
Limited Liability. Members are protected from personal liability for business
decisions or actions of the LLC. This means that if the LLC incurs debt or is sued,
members personal assets are usually exempt. This is similar to the liability
protections afforded to shareholders of a corporation. Keep in mind that limited
liability means limited liability members are not necessarily shielded from wrongful
acts, including those of their employees.
Less Recordkeeping. An LLC s operational ease is one of its greatest advantages.
Compared to an S Corporation, there is less registration paperwork and there are
smaller start up costs.
Sharing of Profits. There are fewer restrictions on profit sharing within an LLC, as
members distribute profits as they see fit. Members might contribute different
proportions of capital and sweat equity. Consequently, it s up to the members
themselves to decide who has earned what percentage of the profits or losses.
Disadvantages of an LLC:
Limited Life. In many states, when a member leaves an LLC, the business is
dissolved and the members must fulfill all remaining legal and business obligations to
close
What Is Supplier Power Of Holiday Inn
Supplier power:
Porter (1980) emphasized that suppliers to an industry may be powerful if they are
more concentrated than their customers and their customers do not command a
significant share of their business because their customers do not represent a
potential long term or major relationship, for example, one off or small customers
versus regular or bulk buyers.
The uniqueness of products and services offered by Holiday inn are important hence
the supplier can drive the prices and their input too is important to success of
service , for example Holiday inn can supply local tourists by lowering customer s
price sensitivity. The supplier can gain a competitive advantage provided they have
resources and capabilities.

reviewing strategy position and direction of the company.
I think it is important to assess the environment opportunities associating them to the
strengths and weaknesses of the organisation resources.

Abandonment In Mary Shelley s Frankenstein
How to be lonely without feeling lonely
Dad, you are not an anchor to hold us back, nor a sail to take us there, but a guiding
light whose love shows us the way (Jane Lindsay). Mary Shelley s Frankenstein is a
piece of literature that explores the pent up resentment in a maternal like relationship
between a shamefaced creator, Victor Frankensteinand his neglected creation, the
monster . The central plot and main characters revolve around the taboo theme of
desertion and shame. Characteristic behaviors and emotions found in the story reflect
back to Mary s own inner dark struggles and memorable life moments, in the sense
that they are coordinated in a haunting family like dynamic. Uncoincidentally both
the author and multiple written characters ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In March 1815 Mary gave birth to a premature baby girl, who after twelve days
passed away in slumber. As expected Mary was very upset but she also felt terrible
guilt over her newborn s death. Dreamt that my little baby came to life again; that
it had only been cold, and that we rubbed it before the fire, and it lived. Awake and
find no baby. I think about the little thing all day. Not in good spirits (Mary Shelley
s Baby Comes Back to Life). The quote shows Mary in her dream putting herself in a
superhero like position in the sense of being able to revive her deceased baby, when
later as she awakens she is forced to face a cold reality of being powerless. This
serves as evidence of her feeling as though there was something she could have done
to save the life of her child. During this time and when she is completing her novel
Frankenstein she still has her young son, William by her side. Blue eyes gets
dearer and sweeter every day he jumps about like a little squirrel (Bennett 144). The
quote goes into deep details to express how much she adored and admired her young
child, thus being a major shift from her previous
The Influence Of Residential Schools For Aboriginal
People...
Residential schools for Aboriginal people in Canada funded by the government were
set up to eliminate parental involvement in the intellectual, cultural, and spiritual
development of Aboriginal children. The continuing influence of residential schools
has persisted and led to the continued existence of social problems. There were many
negative effects, they were robbed of their mothertongue, the residential schools also
prohibit the use of their traditions, teachings, and customs. Children have not seen
their families for months or even years.
There are countless abuses in schools, including physical abuse, neglect, abuse and
sexual abuse. Although abuse is targeted at specific individuals, they are part of a
larger project aimed at suppressing
The Attitude of a Hacker in Kevin Mitnick s The Art of...
Kevin Mitnick, The Condor, The Darkside Hacker, The greatest hacker alive,
whatever name he was given that pins him down as a perpetrator of the law, Kevin
Mitnick still serves as an educator to enthusiasts in the world of Information Security.
He unveils many secrets of the hacker in The Art of Deception. The Art of Intrusion
takes a different twist from its predecessor. It looks at the attitude of the hacker and
what drives them.
Personally the book lacked the full degree of intrusions one is capable of. Looking at
the resume Kevin Mitnick has, successful intruder, phenomenal social engineer, most
wanted of the law, caught and convicted criminal, security consultant and finally
company CEO, one would have expected his personal experiences and intrusions that
finally landed him as the greatest hacker ever known by the media. With this the
book lacked some sort of uniqueness because it was based on other stories of
intrusions.
Mitnick took different stories and merged lots of information through them which
in turn ended up being more of an introduction course to types of security breaches
than an in depth look at how hackers can breach security. This showed some form
of incompleteness especially to a technical audience. For the non technical it serves
as a good read but not much is learnt and gained by the technical audience so I feel
the target audience was blurred out. The stories seemed very fictional which again
raised the suspicion of whether they were really true or
Summary Of A Mockingbird By Kathryn Erskine
Mockingbird by Kathryn Erskine is a thought provoking fiction novel about a
young girl with autism who is trying to find her place in this world while also
dealing with the after effects of the death of her older brother. Mockingbird is a
revealing story that allows one to look inside the mind of a child with autism. Caitlin,
the main character, has Asperger s Syndrome, a term that was still widely in use at
the time of the book s publication. Caitlin is high functioning and extremely smart,
but lacks appropriate social skills and has difficulty reading others emotions. As a
younger child, she would flap her hands, spin around, hide, bite, and rock back and
forth in response to frustrating or overwhelming situations. Currently an... Show more

Although high functioning and bright, she was reading at an eighth grade level in
kindergarten, she is sensitive to tags and patterns on clothing and cannot bear to
touch anything squishy or flabby because it makes her feel sick. Furthermore, she
does not like when people touch her but tends to enjoy the pressure of wrapping
her arms tight around herself in upsetting situations. Caitlin also tends to suck on
her sleeve for comfort. Frustration or confusion has triggered what the book refers
to as a Tantrum Rage Meltdown or TRM (Erskine, 2010, p. 18). During these self
harming events, she is completely consumed and is unable to hear what anyone is
saying. At one point, Caitlin becomes upset with Mrs. Brook for engaging in eye
contact with her for too long and she proceeds to hide under the table where she
starts to run her fingers across the wood, as her finger starts to bleed she continues
to rub harder and harder in an effort to erase the blood (Erskine, 2010, p. 18). These
events require intervention as she is typically unable to stop the behavior on her own.
Caitlin is fully verbal and has no physical impediments or aids for communication.
Her primary barriers to communication are her social awkwardness, bluntness,
difficulty making eye contact, and misunderstanding of non literal language. In one
instance, Mrs. Brook states that a part of Devon will

  • 1. Cultural Essay Crafting an essay on the topic of "Cultural Essay" can be both a challenging and rewarding endeavor. The difficulty arises from the broad and multifaceted nature of culture itself. Culture encompasses a vast array of elements, including traditions, customs, beliefs, art, language, and social structures. Consequently, attempting to encapsulate the richness and diversity of cultures in a single essay can be a daunting task. One of the challenges lies in striking a balance between depth and breadth. Given the vastness of the topic, it can be tempting to delve into every nuance of a particular culture or explore various cultures extensively. However, this may result in an overly lengthy and unfocused essay. On the other hand, trying to cover too much ground in a limited space may lead to oversimplification and superficial analysis. Additionally, navigating cultural sensitivity is crucial. Addressing diverse cultural perspectives requires a nuanced approach to avoid perpetuating stereotypes or misrepresentations. Writers must tread carefully to ensure that their portrayals are respectful, accurate, and culturally aware. Furthermore, the dynamic nature of culture poses another challenge. Culture is not static; it evolves over time due to various factors such as globalization, technological advancements, and social changes. This dynamism adds a layer of complexity to the essay, requiring the writer to acknowledge and analyze cultural shifts while maintaining a coherent narrative. Research becomes a vital aspect of the writing process. A well-rounded cultural essay demands in-depth exploration of relevant literature, historical contexts, and contemporary developments. Juggling various sources and perspectives requires meticulous research skills to present a comprehensive and well-supported argument. In conclusion, composing a cultural essay is a demanding task that necessitates a delicate balance between depth and breadth, cultural sensitivity, awareness of dynamism, and thorough research. Despite its challenges, successfully navigating these aspects can lead to a rich and enlightening exploration of the intricate tapestry of human cultures. For those seeking assistance with similar essays or other writing tasks, various services are available. How the Character of Macbeth Changes Between Act I Scene iii, and Act III Scene I Shakespeare uses many different methods to show that Macbeth changes greatly between Act I Scene iii and Act III Scene i, these include his use of language in speeches and directional action. Banquo s reaction in Act I Scene iii shows that Macbeth is initially afraid of the prophecy. Macbeth s own speech indicates that he is unsure of the truth in what he has been told, but is both intrigued and excited by the thought of becoming king, however, he is confused by his inner thoughts of murder and deceit. The phrase seem to fear, shows us that Macbeths expression betrays the fact that he is shocked and in awe of what the witches have said. ==================================================================== In Act I, Scene iii, Macbeth is still acting friendly to Banquo, even though he is starting to perceive him as a threat. This is shown by the two quotes, My thought, whose murder yet is but fantastical, and, till then, come friends. The words, My thoughts, and, yet is but fantastical, indicate that he is thinking about murder, but as yet does not know why and that he is deciding not to act upon his thoughts yet, but to leave them to fate. The phrase, Come friends, shows that he is still acting friendly to the other characters, when we know that he is really dwelling on the thought of murder. ==================================================================== However, in Act III Scene i, Macbeth s desperation to remain king has grown, and his friendship with Banquo is coming second place to him being king. This is shown by the quote, upon my head they placed a fruitless crown, and put a barren sceptre in my grip. The

Why Is Serena Williams Important A Brief History of Serena Williams Luck has nothing to do with it, because I have spent many, many hours, countless hours, on the court working for my one moment in time, not knowing when it would come Serena Williams. Becoming a champion doesn t happen to just anyone, it takes dedication, determination, and talent. Serena Williams is a champion because she has all of these qualities. Since childhood tennis has been a part of her life, she went from diapers to tennis skirts. Family, mainly her father, has been her main influence. She s gone through major losses as well as some major accomplishments. She is only one of six women to complete a grand slam. She dubbed her winning of all of these major titles as the Serena Slam . She had a series of highs as well as a series of lows. She had knee surgery in August of the year 2003, and in September of that same year, her half sister Yetunda Price was murdered in Los Angeles, California due to a random act of violence. Three years later Serena Williams fell to a ranking of 139 because she was no longer motivated to stay as fit as before and to compete on the same level. To renew her competitive spirit Serena went on a life changing journey to West Africa, as well as writing and releasing an autobiography titled, Queen of the Court, in 2009. In 2009 she won her place back as ranking top in the world by winning the Australian Open singles for the fourth time as well as the Wimbledon singles for the third time. After this high, Serena hit another low when not everything went as smoothly as it could have been. She made headlines for calling out a lineswoman for a foot fault that was called during her semifinal loss to Kim Clijsters at the U.S. Open. There was profanity and according to the lineswoman an alleged threat from Serena, against her life. Serena downplayed what happened saying that she didn t threaten the woman, but the incident didn t bode well for her reputation. She was fined $10,000 on the spot from the U.S. Tennis Association, and two months later she was placed on a two year probation and ordered to pay an additional fine of $82, 500 to the Grand Slam committee. This incident resulted in the largest punishment that was ever given to a tennis player. By 2010, moving past this incident she won the Australian Open singles and double

  • 6. An Overview of Republican Motherhood Republican Motherhood is a term used to describe women s attitudes and roles before, during, and after the American Revolution. These republican mothers, daughters of patriots, were raised with the ideals of republicanism, and were expected to pass on these ideals to the next generation. Republican Motherhood enforced the concept that a domestic women s domain of life should be kept somewhat separate from men, and that their role was extremely important in raising the next generation. Republican Motherhood also encouraged that women should be educated, which added a sense of importance and dignity that had been absent from previous conceptions of women s work. John Adamsand his wife, Abigail are exemplary of Republican Motherhood. Abigail Smith was born in 1744 in Massachusetts, into a well known and respected family. On her mother s side were descendants of a family of great prestige, and her father was a Congregational minister, who was the leader in a society. • 7. Beethoven Op-2 Essay In the first movement of Beethoven s Piano Sonata No. 1 in F Minor, op. 2, the composer draws on a variety of stylistic strands that contributed to the evolution of the mature classical style. Through an analysis of specific musical elements, which include references to form and style, structure, harmony, thematic material, dynamics and textural considerations, I will show how Beethoven adheres to the formal and stylistic conventions associated with the sonata during this period, as well as how he asserted his own voice, creating his own Beethovenian style. Beethoven makes use of a multitude of styles throughout the exposition, moving from style galant to Sturm und Drang and ending in empfandsamer. The primary themein mm. 1 8 exemplifies the qualities of style galant. Beethoven uses a two measure long motive repeatedly in the right hand and block chords in the left. The dominant right hand melody with chordal accompaniment in the left is an indicator for style galant. In m. 9 he begins the transition away from F minor, and arrives at A flat Major in m. 20. As he introduces new material in mm. 15 19, Beethoven continues to use these qualities. After the transition comes the secondary theme in m. 20. The secondary theme displays a legato lyrical ascending pattern with chromatic points, varying drastically from the much more detached melody in the first primary theme. The secondary theme starts at pianolike the first theme, but varies its dynamics with forzandos on beat

All seven of these ethical systems are dealt with on a daily basis and sometimes it is hard to determine which one you are dealing with. Ethical systems intertwine with one another and make up how humans respond and react to situations they are faced with every day. Each ethical system has its own way of coming across to each individual, and it is also going to depend on how each individual person looks at the problems and situations they are dealing with. Every religion is different and looks at situations of non believers differently. Natural law is the good that which is natural (University of Phoenix, 2005). This completely falls into the teleological aspect of ethical systems. The teleological system revolves around everything that is naturally occurring and is meant to happen sooner or later. Natural law is inherited among humans and determines how humans react to one another and situations going on around them. Natural law gives off validity and is set in stone; this determines easily whether or not something is good or bad. An example of natural law would be the common sense of certain situations and determining whether something was right or wrong. Natural law is what makes people who they are and they are the determining factor to what happens. I would consider this close to what I believe in because I believe that people have a huge effect on what happens around us. Ethics of virtue is good that which conforms to the Golden Mean (University of Phoenix, 2005). The ethics of virtue

  • 17. Raymond Bamhart Definition Of Ethics Essay What is Ethics Ethical behavior, an action a human may find challenging to balance in one s life. One is encompassed with daily decisions to choose right from wrong. For example, being late for work, one may decide to speed to get to work on time, knowing if you re late for work again you could lose your job. So one may decide to get to work on time, regardless of the consequences of possibly getting a ticket, causing an accident and putting the lives of others in danger which could be one s worst nightmare. How does one define ethics? Raymond Baumhart, a sociologist gave insight on what Ethics means in his viewpoint. He had mentioned that when feelings are put into the equation, it can have drawbacks of doing what is morally correct. Also, putting Religion in an Ethical review can undermine the one s that do not believe or have different beliefs. There has been news and articles on how our resources are becoming scarce, such as clean drinking water and habitats for the wildlife, which leads to my opinion of protecting them from further damage. If we did not have this issue, the environment and society would not have to struggle with limiting resources. My major influences on my opinion is the surroundings I see going on everyday in my environment, as well as how my parents raised my morals to be. Based on what my parents have taught me, we should never be wasteful of our resources. • 20. Prejudice, Prejudice And Prejudice These days, there is a marked prejudice against prejudice, and understandably so. More often than not, prejudice refers to an antipathy based upon a faulty and inflexible generalization. 1 Insofar as prejudice refers to thought or action beclouded by hatred, it warrants condemnation, not defense. However, prejudicealso has a broader meaning. According to the Oxford Shorter Dictionary, it is: a preconceived opinion; bias unfavorable or favorable. 2 It refers to life circumstances and perspective. Prejudice is any source of judgment whose validity one has not ascertained for oneself. The aspiration to banish prejudice in this broad sense reflects the assumption that rational judgment must be untainted by prejudgments of any kind. This way of thinking about judgment, and the renunciation of fixed ideas it implies, is misguided. Prejudice gives life experiences their subjective meanings. But prejudice can also be both illuminating and consistent with freedom. The concept of detached judgment (itself a kind of prejudice) was shaped during the Enlightenment (1685 1815). As Hans Georg Gadamer points out, The history of ideas shows that not until the Enlightenment does the concept of prejudice acquire the negative connotation familiar today. 3 The word prejudice actually comes from prejudgment, which means [having] either a positive or negative value. This meaning, he continues, was limited during the Enlightenment to the sense of an unfounded judgment that

Poe originally published the short story without the poem The Conqueror Worm , but in a later publish in 1845 included the mysterious piece. The poem plays a significant role in Ligeia, as Ligeia herself writes the poem a few days prior to her death. The Conqueror Worm enhances the main theme of Ligeia, which is the power of the dead over the living, and mortality. Poe begins his story with in a blur, unable to make up many important things about Ligeia, such as her family history, how they met, where she came from, and even her last name. The poem tells the allegorical history of mankind, acting as a frame story where the outside is angles watching and the inside as the play itself. In the first stanza, he says, bedight in veils, and drowned in tears. With this, he announces the figure of angels, which are correlated with goodness and with heaven. Their sorrow gives the reader an early indication that the play is likely to be a tragedy. The next few stanza s provide information for the rising action and the climax occurs with the entrance of the Conqueror Worm. The last stanza goes back to the outside frame for the falling action. After he finishes reciting the poem, she screams at the injustice of the poem s suggestions about existence. She repeats Joseph Glanvill s quote, And the will therein lieth. The quote essentially states that man only dies because of his lack of will. This despair contrasts with Ligeia s resistance and by the end of the story, we see that Ligeia has found the will to return from the dead by taking over another woman s

Tourists also might take chips of stone from the site, as well as accidentally brush against the walls and frescoes, further increasing their rate of deterioration (Wallace 2013). In studies to understand the tourism of the site, it was discovered that many of these tourists damaging actions were not done maliciously, but out of a desire to experience the site. However, the open nature of Pompeii for tourists is also a leading cause in vandalism, graffiti and theft. Some of the vandalism involves scratching one s name into a wall and also stems from a desire to experience the site and tie it to one s self, but that does not make it any less unacceptable. Steps have been taken to restrict tourists to conserve parts of the site. The governing body for Pompeii has begun issuing new tickets that allow for tourists to visit cities such as Herculaneum and Stabiae, to reduce the pressure on Pompeii. The second wave of feminism was said to be a transition focused on individual rights (Freedman 3). Feminists who belonged to other minority groups received poor recognition from mainstream feminists (Rich 31). Many issues among feminists themselves can be seen on a larger scale throughout society itself; however, in order for second wave feminism to be a success, cultural issues such as homophobia and racism needed to be ironed out from within the group before feminists could expect any forward progress. Due to poor recognition from white feminists, Black Feminism, as well as several other subcategories of feminism, developed during this time (Freedman 4). Black feminism arose from the civil rights movement and mainstream feminism. From civil rights activists, black women were treated as second class citizens , and racism came from their fellow feminist sisters. Black women ran an uphill battle, fighting racism, classism, and even at times homophobia (Rich 32). Characteristic behaviors and emotions found in the story reflect back to Mary s own inner dark struggles and memorable life moments, in the sense that they are coordinated in a haunting family like dynamic. Uncoincidentally both the author and multiple written characters ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In March 1815 Mary gave birth to a premature baby girl, who after twelve days passed away in slumber. As expected Mary was very upset but she also felt terrible guilt over her newborn s death. Dreamt that my little baby came to life again; that it had only been cold, and that we rubbed it before the fire, and it lived. Awake and find no baby. I think about the little thing all day. Not in good spirits (Mary Shelley s Baby Comes Back to Life). The quote shows Mary in her dream putting herself in a superhero like position in the sense of being able to revive her deceased baby, when later as she awakens she is forced to face a cold reality of being powerless. This serves as evidence of her feeling as though there was something she could have done to save the life of her child. During this time and when she is completing her novel Frankenstein she still has her young son, William by her side. Blue eyes gets dearer and sweeter every day he jumps about like a little squirrel (Bennett 144). The quote goes into deep details to express how much she adored and admired her young child, thus being a major shift from her previous
  • 42. The Influence Of Residential Schools For Aboriginal People... Residential schools for Aboriginal people in Canada funded by the government were set up to eliminate parental involvement in the intellectual, cultural, and spiritual development of Aboriginal children. The continuing influence of residential schools has persisted and led to the continued existence of social problems. There were many negative effects, they were robbed of their mothertongue, the residential schools also prohibit the use of their traditions, teachings, and customs. Children have not seen their families for months or even years. There are countless abuses in schools, including physical abuse, neglect, abuse and sexual abuse. Although abuse is targeted at specific individuals, they are part of a larger project aimed at suppressing
  • 43. The Attitude of a Hacker in Kevin Mitnick s The Art of... Kevin Mitnick, The Condor, The Darkside Hacker, The greatest hacker alive, whatever name he was given that pins him down as a perpetrator of the law, Kevin Mitnick still serves as an educator to enthusiasts in the world of Information Security. He unveils many secrets of the hacker in The Art of Deception. The Art of Intrusion takes a different twist from its predecessor. It looks at the attitude of the hacker and what drives them. Personally the book lacked the full degree of intrusions one is capable of. Looking at the resume Kevin Mitnick has, successful intruder, phenomenal social engineer, most wanted of the law, caught and convicted criminal, security consultant and finally company CEO, one would have expected his personal experiences and intrusions that finally landed him as the greatest hacker ever known by the media. With this the book lacked some sort of uniqueness because it was based on other stories of intrusions. Mitnick took different stories and merged lots of information through them which in turn ended up being more of an introduction course to types of security breaches than an in depth look at how hackers can breach security. This showed some form of incompleteness especially to a technical audience. For the non technical it serves as a good read but not much is learnt and gained by the technical audience so I feel the target audience was blurred out. The stories seemed very fictional which again raised the suspicion of whether they were really true or

Mockingbird is a revealing story that allows one to look inside the mind of a child with autism. Caitlin, the main character, has Asperger s Syndrome, a term that was still widely in use at the time of the book s publication. Although high functioning and bright, she was reading at an eighth grade level in kindergarten, she is sensitive to tags and patterns on clothing and cannot bear to touch anything squishy or flabby because it makes her feel sick. Furthermore, she does not like when people touch her but tends to enjoy the pressure of wrapping her arms tight around herself in upsetting situations. Caitlin also tends to suck on her sleeve for comfort. Frustration or confusion has triggered what the book refers to as a Tantrum Rage Meltdown or TRM (Erskine, 2010, p. 18). During these self harming events, she is completely consumed and is unable to hear what anyone is saying. At one point, Caitlin becomes upset with Mrs. Brook for engaging in eye contact with her for too long and she proceeds to hide under the table where she starts to run her fingers across the wood, as her finger starts to bleed she continues to rub harder and harder in an effort to erase the blood (Erskine, 2010, p. 18). These events require intervention as she is typically unable to stop the behavior on her own. Caitlin is fully verbal and has no physical impediments or aids for communication. Her primary barriers to communication are her social awkwardness, bluntness, difficulty making eye contact, and misunderstanding of non literal language. In one instance, Mrs. Brook states that a part of Devon will
