Information Technology In The 21st Century
Information Technology is a developing technology that aims at obtaining the maximum information
with minimum of resources, labour or time. According to the dictionary, Information Technology is
the study or use of electronic equipment especially computers, for storing, analysing and distribution
of information of all kinds, including words, numbers and pictures.
Ever since the appearance of Man on the earth, information has been the major cause of his progress
and development. But information alone is not enough. Information has to be processed, put to use by
logic and reason before it becomes useful knowledge.
Information Technology includes and encompasses within itself the whole technological, social and
cultural phenomena that promise an excellent future for mankind. The 21st century is a century of
Information Technology. Just as steam engine emerged to be the technology of the 19th century and
computer technology enhanced the capacity of human brain in the 20th century, Information
Technology is the in thing in the 21 century.
The technological progress during the past sixty years has brought about an explosion in knowledge.
Today we have super computers imitating the human brain and even beating it in various fields like
fast data processing,
This wonder machine called computer has revolutionised life in a big way. With its excellent memory,
it has become a source of Internet Information Service. A fathomless ocean of information is available

Araby Character Analysis
The story Araby takes place in the winter, the end of North Richmond St. The main character in the
narrator, a boy who is infatuated with his friend s sister. He has created a routine that will allow him to
see her and follow her to school everyday. Everything would be amazing if he had the courage to talk
to her, but he never has. One day however, the girl takes interest in him, asking if he will attend Araby,
in the bazaar. The boy responds he will. In fact, he will purchase something for her due to the
circumstance that she will not be able to attend. As days passed the boy can t wait till the day arrives
and to attend the bazaar, which turns out a problem because the idea intervenes with his school work.
Finally the day arrives, but his uncle is late, despite the fact that the boy reminded him to be early. The
uncle is grumpy and perhaps drunk. He tells the child it is too late now to go out, but his wife
convinces him to let the boy go. When he is at the bazaar, a young woman asks him if he would like to
purchase something. He shakes his head and the lights go off hinting the narrator is time to go home.
The main character the narrator is the center of the story. What could have been a happy ending ends
up being a tragic realization and change of attitude towards the world. The narrator undergoes major
changes through out the story. At the beginning he has a fantasy in his head about Mangan s sister, his
love interest. In a way she represent a way out of his sad

Analyzing The Satirical Cartoon This Is A White Man s...
In 1868, Republican candidate Ulysses S. Grant ran against Democrat Horatio Seymour for office of
president of the United States. At the time, congress was radically Republican, yet had trouble passing
legislature due to the Democratic President in office, Andrew Johnson. The election of 1868 election
was important for Republicans, as they set out to obtain control over the executive branch of
government. Thomas Nast was one of many editorial cartoonists to expose the Democratic party s
resistance towards reconstruction during the campaign season of the election of 1868. Through
symbolism and irony in his 1868 editorial cartoon, This is a White Man s Government , Thomas Nast
argues that the Democratic party sought to prevent black people from ... Show more content on

Nast displays how the ape like, Irish drunkard, with his cigars and alcohol bottles is allowed to vote,
yet the black man who fought for the Union in an effort to unify the nation is unable to vote. Another
aspect of irony displayed in this cartoon has to do with the background, in which a Freedman s school
is burning and a black man has been lynched. These two actions, taken out by supporters of the
Democratic party are violations of the black people s rights to education, as well as safety to live in
America. The irony is that the Democrats describe the Reconstruction Acts as unconstitutional [and]
revolutionary while the actions being carried out by Democrats are just that, and Nast s cartoon serves
to point that out. The final irony, a sad one is created by the inclusion of an American flag below the
black Union soldier. This flag shows that the actions being taken by the Democrats are not only
hurting the black people and preventing them from advancing as a society, but are preventing America
from advancing as a nation. It shows the result of the Democrats actions and provides warning to the
Republicans that they need to get out and vote or else their country will ultimately pay the

Character Development in Edward Abbey s The Monkey Wrench Gang
Search and Rescue, Utah State Police, and Bishops of the Church of Latter Day Saints chase a group
of bridge destroying, billboard burning, bulldozer mutilating eco terrorists through the desert of the
Southwest. The group known as the Monkey Wrench Gang consists of four very different characters:
Seldom Seen Smith, also known as Joseph Smith, George Washington Hayduke, Doctor A. K. Sarvis,
and Bonnie Abbzug. Each character has his own opinion of why nature needs to be saved. The group
decides to make their mark on nature by taking care of the different machines, roads and bridges that

Let?s Save Some of It (14) plastered on the back bumper.
George Washington Hayduke, Vietnam veteran from Tucson, Arizona, has a distaste for the way the
Southwest is becoming industrialized. He found it, no longer what he remembered, no longer the clear
and classical desert. . . . Someone or something was changing things (15). That ultimate world . . . of
meat, blood, fire, water, rock, wood, sun, wind, sky, night, cold, dawn, warmth, life. Those short and
irreducible words which stand for almost everything he thinks he has lost (355). In Hayduke?s
opinion, This is my country. Mine and Seldom?s and Doc?s yeah, hers too (336) and anyone who
would want to mess with it is in trouble.
Seldom Seen Smith, a Mormon and husband to three women all from Utah, guides river trips down
Lee?s Ferry for a living. Smith, like Hayduke, remembers the Southwest to be something different. He
recalls, the golden river flowing to the sea. . . . He remembers the canyons. . . and the amphitheaters
(31). What he doesn?t remember is all these things lay[ing] beneath the dead water of the reservoir
(31). A true autochthonic patriot, Smith swears allegiance only to the land he knows (358). All the
members of the gang agree with Smith and feel that they want a counter industrial revolution (211).
Edward Abbey uses various types of slang to get each character?s opinions across to the reader. For
example, when Hayduke asks if Doc thinks he is a

The Pros And Cons Of Religious Vaccination
There are several religious exemptions that followers can seem to justify but some cases seem to be
outrageous and a threat to society. One of these exemptions being, religious vaccine exemption which
seems to be a controversial topic even in today s society. Although, there is not an abundance of
religious followers who are against vaccination a few do seem to rise publicly once in a while which
leads to a media frenzy. Religions such as, Christian Scientists and the Dutch Reformed Church are
some of the religions in the past having followers known of creating controversy in this topic. In
which then, stirs the public on establishing an opinion on who to side with and what is right and
wrong. For example, there are cases where children entering schools are not vaccinated due to their
parent s religious beliefs. Should this extreme violation towards safety be allowed? No, I believe that
most cases of religious vaccine exemptions are morally unjustifiable and wrong.
Any act that unnecessarily endangers other human beings and society is morally unjustifiable and
wrong. I believe that when there s an option where something can be easily preventable and is known
to be avoidable then it should be accomplished with such method. When someone decides to
purposely chose an alternative option in which danger and negative consequences may become
pertinent and thus, the outcome it is wrong. There s no reason a sane human being should decide to
purposely make a decision which can

Classroom Management Philosophy Observing teachers is a great way to see the day to day operations
of what goes into the setting of the class. Within the first few months of school, by then the students
should have a good understanding of the expectations of the class. It is important to realize that the
teacher trains the students what the rules and expectations are from day one in their classroom. These
rules and expectations come from their classroom management plan. There are many reasons a child

It takes time to teacher students the information that they need to know for the school year and prior to
the next year. Teachers only have 180 days to teach the required information to the students with the
assurance that the get it. A classroom management plan affects everyone. It can change the way
students walk into the classroom, how a teacher does their job and how visitors act when they come to
visit. I have seen this happen in an Elementary school, I have observed it. One class was quietly
walking down the hallway and another class was using outside, loud voices. It was interesting the
reaction some students had to the differences within the two classes. My philosophy on classroom
management came from my schooling and personal observations. I do not have a physical classroom
yet, but have seen many different styles each teacher uses when in the classroom. The theoretical
perspective that best describes my personal philosophy is the personal needs theory. Stanley
Coopersmith discussed that individuals need to experience a sense of significance, competence, and
power (Jones Jones, 2010, p. 33). I believe that it is important that a student trust and builds a positive
rapport or relationship with you. I believe that students, who trust and believe in their teacher, with
this the student, may tend to work harder and it gives the student the belief that they can accomplish
any task. When a level of trust and

Advantages Of A Relational Database
Advantages of a Relational Database
The relational database provides a number of advantages over previous models, such as the following.
Built in multilevel integrity: Data integrity is built into the model at the field level to ensure the
accuracy of the data; at the table level to ensure that records are not duplicated and to detect missing
primary key values; at the relationship level to ensure that the relationship between a pair of tables is
valid; and at the business level to ensure that the data is accurate in terms of the business itself.
(Integrity is discussed in detail as the design process unfolds.)
Logical and physical data independence from database applications: Neither changes a user makes to
the logical design of the database, nor changes a database software vendor makes to the physical
implementation of the database, will adversely affect the applications built upon it.
Guaranteed data consistency and accuracy: Data is consistent and accurate due to the various levels of
integrity you can impose within the database. (This will become quite clear as you work through the
design process.)
Easy data retrieval: At the user s command, data can be retrieved either from a particular table or from
any number of related tables within the database. This enables a ... Show more content on

Many RDBMS programs also provide the tools you need to create end user applications that interact
with the data stored in the database. Of course, the quality of an RDBMS is a direct function of the
extent to which it supports the relational database model. Even among true RDBMSs, support for the
relational database varies among vendors, and there is yet to be a full implementation of the relational
model s potential. Despite this, all RDBMS programs continue to evolve and become more full
featured and powerful than ever

Apartheid In South Africa
The music from the Apartheid in South Africa was extremely important in the movement for freedom.
At a time when there wasn t much money for the Anti Apartheid Movement, music became the most
important weapon. The songs sung all over South Africa in resistance to the Apartheid intimidated the
government more than weapons and violence could because of the powerful meaning behind each
song that unified and strengthened the resistance. Artists all over South Africa wrote songs speaking
out against the government and its cruel laws and although many of them were banned, the people of
South Africa heard them and sang them to protest the rules of the government. While there are many
different varieties of revolutionary music from the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The earliest variations of Nkosi Sikelel Afrika , like the upbeat Masowe Apostles and the slower
Marankes, inspired many artists to do the same. Some used the lyrics or melody to add to their own
original songs, like the aggressive rap by Prophets of da City and Dan Moyane s fusion of the song s
lyrics with the melody of Die Stem Van Suid Afrika , South Africa s national anthem during the
Apartheid. Others used the song as inspiration for songs with similar lyrics, like Nkosi Yethu by Isaian
Shembe and Mwari Komberera Africa by John Maranke. Despite being banned by the government,
Nkosi Sikelel Afrika continued to be sung throughout the Apartheid and became so important that it
was named the national anthem of South Africa at the end of the Apartheid. Although Nkosi Sikelel
Afrika was originally a religious hymn, the lyrics had a very prominent political connotation. The
song was not a revolutionary song in the traditional sense, but a prayer for freedom and equality. The
meaning of the lyrics, shown below, called for the Lord to help the people. The seven additional
verses, especially the last one, transformed the song from a religious hymn to a song calling for hope
and the power to fight back. Although the words do not directly attack the government, they are much
more powerful to the people of South Africa than any revolutionary song. Lord, bless Africa May her
horn rise high up; Hear Thou our prayers and bless

How Is Duddy Kravitz Successful

the classroom, one must use all resources available take advantage of every opportunity that arises.
Many times, there is failure before success, but that allows a person to return with ferocity to win and
succeed. There are a number of factors that drive one to push all limits in order to achieve success. In
Mordecai Richler s The Apprenticeship of Duddy Kravitz , the themes of success and failure, greed
and materialism are prominent and circumscribe the character of Duddy Kravitz. Duddy is victimized
by the compulsive greed and pressure to succeed, therefore, failure is noticeable in many ... Show

Duddy Kravitz grew up without knowledge of any better life and hustled for every penny he made.
His greed fuels his success and also causes his failures. It is important to realize that without his greed,
Duddy would not have his land. Nevertheless, he would have a stable relationship with Yvette. The
exact nature of Duddy s greed is exhibited when he works at the Hotel Lac des Sables in Ste. Agathe.
He is tricked into acting as banker for a rigged roulette game where he loses three hundred dollars.
Owing to this failure , Duddy runs away from the resort with shame, but Irwin (the one who swindles
him) is forced to return the money. After he receives the money from Irwin, he is welcomed by Mr.
Cohen, one of the guests, who along with other contributors has donated five hundred dollars to pay
Duddy back. Here it is observed that Duddy has no moral values: Duddy rushed upstairs..... and did a
few somersaults (Richler 92). He has just received eight hundred dollars in total. He goes from being a
child and escaping from his problems, to a man with money. Duddy s ambitions are based off this
childish greed. His greed drives his confidence and gives him an ego. When things do not go his way,
he does not know where to turn and reverts to being greedy again. This affects other characters too,
such as Virgil, who knows no better of Duddy and looks up to him as a guru. Unfortunately for Virgil,
from the moment they met on the train, Duddy s intent was not to provide support to Virgil, but to
cheat him and profit from his simple mindedness. From the moment, they meet, he takes any chance
he gets to swindle Virgil. This is first seen when Virgil comes to Montreal. Duddy takes this
opportunity to get free work done and Virgil believes that Duddy truly cares for him. So when Virgil is
desperate for money and help, Duddy gives him a job. At the same time, he is constantly cheating

Why Did White Southerners Support Slavery
In 1860 there was about four million African Americans living in the south and out of those four
million there was only 260,000 of freed African Americans. Slaves lived a hard and cruel life day in
and day out. Living a life where white southerners were their masters and controlled every aspect of
their lives, from what they had to do through out the day, if they can marry, they could not have
authority over their children, if they would be able to have an intact family and before they taught
about doing anything they had to think abut the consequences that would come with it and these are
just a few examples of the many horrible things they had to go through, put in simple words slaves
where not free. There were many reasons why white southerners supported slavery, why they thought

First and foremost, Yeoman farmers and white poor southerners where not part of the Plantation
Aristocracy . Slavery was a way to manage and control the labor, yeoman farmer families were about

about eighty percent of them owned their own land. Most of the farmers would raise hogs, corn, some

farmers did not have money, they were able to gain the respect of planters by their dignity and pride
and they even wished to join the gentry one day and looked up to the planters. According to the book

My High School Spring Fling
The ritual that I have chosen to write about is my old High School Spring Fling. Music, food, dancing,

spring party that happens in late April. Students and teachers have a half of day that ends at 12 pm. We
all go off to the gym for the remaining of the day to have fun. this day party is hosted by the upcoming
senior class in hopes to help raise money for the current senior class. They throw this party so that the
money that is raised helps pay for any last minute things for the current senior class. All the staff and

The goal is for individuals to feel apart and feel like one or as the school as one. The school wanted to
make sure that they have this spring fling in a safe environment. He also speaks about rituals and
values and I think it relates to the spring fling. I think it relates because we wear the school colors to
promote pride and to show that we value the school that we attend. Everyone is in attendance so that s
how we know who is valued and respected in both regards to the student and the staff. Which is what
Collins was saying in his essay the group must assemble which is what we do when the spring fling is
held every year. This event shows that we are a unity and that we are equal in our own Phoenix
community. You have grades mixing with other grade, teachers mixing with other teachers and it s the
maybe only time you see the principle or leader of the school relaxed and enjoying himself. This
spring fling is the tradition.
A spring fling is an event that all four years of my high school I really enjoyed. It was something that
most individuals and even myself really looked forward to everywhere. I looked forward to meeting
new students, teachers and just being able to feel the unity. It felt as If we were one big tight family.
Studies may show that the average kid spends most of their time at school. Which I see to be very true
because school is where I spent 8 hours of my day. In that school, I felt the solidarity that Collins

Transhumanism In The Film Her, By Spike Jonze
While watching the film Her directed by Spike Jonze a common theme that is viewed within this film
is, transhumanism. Transhumanism is the theory that the human race can evidently evolve beyond its
current physical and mental limitations, This can be easily achieved by the advancements of
technology. This is seen when the viewers looked at the relationship between the protagonist,
Theodore Towbly, and his operating system. Transhumanism is also seen when the director, Spike
Jonze, uses simulacra to identify the characters within the film. It is also seen when the protagonist
can not distinguish between the real and simulation.
Firstly within the film Her directed by Spike Jonze transhumanism is seen when Theodore develops
emotions for an operating ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is seen when humankind has evolved so much that the main character s job is to write personal
letters for other people. Which is very ironic because then this makes these letters impersonal because
the senders are not actually writing these letters themselves but the receiver is unaware of this. It s
also, ironic because the protagonist has a horrible love life, but is writing love letters for others.
Theodores job creates who he is as an individual. He even becomes successful when Samantha helps
him publish a book composed of these letters which he wrote for others. Another way of using
simulacra to express transhumanism is the development of Samantha s character. After all, the viewer
knows she is only an operating system but the ironic part is in which theodore sees Samantha as a real
human being. This is shown when Theodore questions whether Samantha is faking it during their
virtual sexual encounters. Even though Samantha s character is not real she represent an extremely
realistic human companion because she feels emotions, such a jealousy. Jealousy is seen when
Theodore goes and has lunch with Catherine to sign the divorce paper. Samantha is also receptive to
emotions. However, when Theodore asks if she is faking it theoretically she is faking it because she is
not a real human but Theodore believes she is real because of the world he lives in with all the
technological advancements. One thing that the viewer may see is that Samantha s character does not
fully represent simulacra because eventually her a Theodores relationship starts to wither and becomes

Ancient Egypt And Ancient Egyptian Culture
The Egyptian culture has long been considered quite optimistic. It should be argued that of all ancient
civilisations and cultures, the ancient Egyptian culture, is by far the most optimistic; in terms of
everyday outlook on life, religion and death. The ancient Egyptian culture when compared to its
nearby neighbours in the Levant and Mesopotamia is indeed optimistic. An examination of the
environment of ancient Egypt affected daily life as this would in turn influence the culture, and
whether or not this played a role in making ancient Egyptian life and culture more optimistic. It is also
essential that the ancient Egyptian myths and religion be explored to determine whether or not it
contained the same optimistic outlook as the culture ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Their civilisation was situated adjacent to the Nile River. Evidently, this allowed for the ancient
Egyptians to transition into an agricultural lifestyle with relative ease, as stated by Marc Van De
Mieroop wherever its waters reaches the soil can be farmed; where it does not reach the earth is
parched and it is impossible to grow anything on it. This subsequently allowed the ancient Egyptians
to begin farming with relative ease as the Nile River stretched some 6500 kilometres, which is more
than enough farming area for a civilisation with a relatively small population. The ancient Egyptians
were further blessed by the fact that the Nile River, would flood on a yearly basis bringing in rich silt
that ultimately acted as fertilisers for the crops, and thus allowing for less labour and higher yield. The
Nile River itself has no doubt contributed to the general optimism of Egyptian culture which is evident
in the Hymn to the Nile whereby it states May your countenance shine on us, Hapy, god of the moving
River, who comes forth from the earth returning to save the Black Land. His features are hidden, dark
in the daylight, yet faithful find him fit subject for song. He waters the landscape the Sun god has
formed, giving life to every small creature. The words used in the Hymn to describe and thank the god
Hapy show that ancient Egyptians are indeed grateful towards the environment as the Nile River is

Big City Sociology
As the world s population is booming, it requires for more cities to be developed and to grow in order
to meet the needs of the population. Megacities are cities in which the population have surpassed 10
million, such as Buenos Aires. During the English Industrial Revolution, Manchester was an important
city like Buenos Aires. Their population were able to grow fast because of technology and citizens
leaving their rural effect, but these changes harmed society. In Manchester, many people left their
rural homes amidst the start of the Industrial Revolution. The concept of enclosure was widespread
during that time which helped generate more money, but reduced the needs for large amount of
workers. Not only did the farms need less workers, but better wages were undoubtedly the greatest
attraction of city life (Griffin). As a result, the movement of urbanization happened when many people
left their homes for the cities. This caused the population to rise quickly which had a negative effect
because of the living conditions that existed in Manchester. Most of the people who moved to the
cities were living in slums ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

having. But like Manchester, citizens of Argentina moved to their capital in search of a job. Because
the environment they are living in is so crowded, health is another pressing problem in megacities

Don Quixote Essay
Don Quixote is a classic novel although now a days many may not be entirely familiar with it. The
story of Don Quixote is filled with legendary actions that have survived our native tough. The phrase
and labels that tell the title come from someone deeply impractical. Don Quixote at the age of fifty has
not quite had what one would call a wild life, so far. He has never been married and still lives at home.
He has however found his calling in life, the profession of knighthood: he was spurred on by the

Dulcinea del Toboso who was also known as Aldonza Lorenzo, is Don Quixote s lady love, his
admired princess, who does not know of his existence nor has she ever spoken to him. Cervantes
described her as a good looking country young woman. He felt as if he would not be a knight with his
lady.
Then comes Lady Zoraida who travels with the Captain. French pirates had stripped her of her
jewelry, but her virtue is still in one piece. Remarkably she holds herself together and claims to be the
wife of the Captain.
Dorothea is a beautiful traveler who decides to help the barber and the curate, only if they will help
her in return; a deal is being struck. She is to be the maiden in distress in search of a knight who will
help her and thus she will bring Don back to his family.

Factors Influencing The Collaboration Of The New Testament
LIBERTY UNIVERSITY FACTORS INFLUENCING THE COLLABORATION OF THE NEW
TESTAMENT By Daniel Surmi CHHI 520 05 October, 2014 INTRODUCTION This paper will
examine the internal and external factors which spurred and led to the well known theologian
Athanasius proposing the now existing New Testament books of the Holy Scriptures. The internal
factors that will be examined in this paper include: Docetism, Judaism, Gnosticism, Marcionism,
Montanism, and Apollinarianism. Secondly this paper will view how the false prophets influenced not
only the doctrine of Christ but sought to take advantage of the Church s generous heart for personal
profit and gain. The external factors this paper will evaluate are: the persecution of the church and the
influence of pagan cultures surrounding the Christian Gentiles. The events and topics covered will be
from the 1st to 3rd century AD. Lastly this paper will look at the churches response to these factors as
they will create an authoritative list of writings in which Christians can rest on and use as a foundation
for their belief in Christ. All information and data in this paper is gathered from peer reviewed,
published journals and vetted educational websites. TABLE OF CONTENTS INTERNAL

Postpartum Hemorrhage
Postpartum Hemorrhage
Introduction
Postpartum hemorrhage (PPH) is a significantly life threatening complication that can occur after both
vaginal and caesarean births (Ricci Kyle, 2009). Simpson and Creehan (2008) define PPH as the
amount of blood loss after vaginal birth, usually more than 500mL, or after a caesarean birth, normally
more than 1000mL. However, the definition is arbitrary, attributed to the fact that loss of blood during
birth is intuitive and widely inaccurate (Ricci Kyle, 2009). In line with this, studies have suggested
that health care providers consistently underestimate actual blood loss, thus, an objective definition of
PPH would be any amount of bleeding that exposes a mother in hemodynamic jeopardy (Ricci ...

The sign and symptoms of PPH include; the apparent excessive bleeding, hematocrit reduction of the
number of red blood cells, reduced blood pressure, development of symptoms of shock and anaemia,
and severe pain and swelling of tissues and muscles of the vagina, vulva, pelvic and perineum
(Simpson Creehan, 2008). Besides, Ricci Kyle (2009) avow that there are different factors that place a
mother at risk for PPH, and they comprise; prolonged first, second or third stage of labour, previous
history of PPH, foetal macrosomia, uterine infection, arrest of descent and multiple gestation. Other
risk factors may include; mediolateral episiotomy, coagulation abnormalities, maternal hypertension,
maternal exhaustion, malnutrition or anaemia, preeclampsia, precipitous birth, polyhydramnios and
previous placenta previa (Ricci Kyle, 2009).
Diagnosis and Assessment
The principal mode of diagnosis is a differential diagnosis, and it includes a plethora of facets;
bleeding from implantation site, which may be due to uterine atony, with predisposing factors such as
infections, and retained placenta or abnormal placentation (Sheiner, 2011). Coagulation disorders and
trauma are also essential facets considered during diagnosis (Sheiner, 2011). Conventionally, there are
different methods used for the estimation of blood loss during diagnosis, and they are majorly
classified as clinical and quantitative methods (Ricci Kyle, 2009). Clinical method remains the
primary means to

Student Language Assessment Essay
Guild (2001) says We... are products of external influences, especially within our immediate family,
extended community, and culture. This is important, as an educator, to keep in mind when teaching
ELL students. This is important to keep in mind when teaching children from other cultures, also. The
information I gained from reading and watching the learning resources in weeks two and three were
very valuable in observing the student I chose to observe.
The student I chose, J, is in a team member s class. He caught my attention at my school s academic

give him an excellent chance at having a better life. Having this limited about of knowledge of his
culture I think the best way to get to know any student and their culture better is to talk and listen. You
can learn a lot from listening.
Before delving into my observations on J I want to first describe what his second language acquisition
stage is. Based on what I observed from his communication in class and his writing I have concluded
that he is stage three: the speech emergence stage. He can communicate in simple sentences, but when
he communicates in longer and complex sentences he makes grammatical mistakes. Although he has
been in the country for four years I feel his language development has been hindered by being pushed
along in school, never getting enough one on one instruction, and not enough ELL support in terms of
a teacher pulling him aside to help more often. In a more intense supportive environment I think he
would already be in stage four. Reed (2003) informs readers that having an understanding of ELL
students will dramatically improve the ability to understand and teach an ELL student more.
As I stated before J takes his education very important. His teacher told me that he almost always cries
on a daily basis when he feels like he did not do a good job. Although she said that I did not observe
that while I was in there. He

The Spread of Western Imperialism
In 1853, Western imperialism was at its height. It was spreading to several countries. The British
colonized India, the Dutch colonized Indonesia, the United States colonized the Philippines, and the
French colonized Vietnam. In 1929, the crash of the stock market brought a worldwide depression,
known as the Great Depression. The depression caused instability in many countries. International
commerce declined and tax revenues, profits, and personal income decreased. The Great Depression
especially impacted countries that were in need of raw materials. Between the time of 1853 to 1941,
Japan s culture and political structure changed anticipating westernization because they wanted to be
seen as equals to the Western countries. Japan also became more militaristic so that they would not be
seen as a victim of imperialism. Although Japan experienced some changes, Japan continued the
ideology of kokutai as a method for imperial advancement.
Japan s cultural and political structure changed from being a weak isolated nation to a modern
imperialist country. Before Japan westernized, it was under the rule of the Tokugawa Shogunate. This
was an agricultural economy with a population of 13 billion. Japan did not associate with any other
country because they believed foreign influence was a destabilizing factor. This resulted in
overcrowded farms and scarce minerals. In 1853, Commodore Perry came to Japan with big black
ships. The technological advancements of the ships shocked the

Risk Takers Compare And Contrast
Despite the lack of communication, the comparison between risk takers and reckless people is a key
factor in life. Everyone will most likely experience one of these once in their life, but the real question
is which one will you be? Although they bear many minor similarities, the differences between
reckless and risk takers are obvious. Risk takers are people who represent the act of being cautious
while at the same time realizing there s a slight chance of failing. On the other hand, reckless people
show poor behavior such as being careless or acting foolish. A prime example would be NASCAR
drivers. These professionals risk their life doing what they love, while at the same time being
extremely aware of potential danger. Even though they still carry an abundance of experience, they
still make sure they have their armor equipped on their body and personal vehicles. Reckless people
basically don t follow rules. We see people on the roadways talking on their phone, ... Show more

This is something risk takers rely to complete, which is why they have been given the exceptional
identity. William Burke Miller Skeet was known for being a very complete person, mainly due to his
responsibility of taking food to Floyd Collins knowing he s risking his life down there. Everyone
knew he could easily get stuck down there with Floyd but he refused to give up and risked his life to
continuously feed him. This is a prime example of being sacrificial as well, which leads to being a risk
taker. Many believe the definition of being reckless includes the act of doing dumb things in public,
but studies prove that most of the nonsense involves being behind a wheel. When drivers took long
glances away from the road at the wrong moment, they were twice as likely to get into a crash. This
includes drinking, texting, talking, and more while in a

Brad Paisley and Country Music Essay
When country music began in America, there were no professional musicians. The typical musician
sang only to entertain himself, his family or at local events. There is evidence of square dance like
events as far back as the 1830s (with origins in European country dancing). At first, most country
music was either sung by itself or played on a lone fiddle or banjo. A good fiddler was a very popular
person and was often asked to perform at events ranging from weddings to cattle drives. There was no
concerted effort to preserve the songs played, but the songs that people loved lasted as they were
passed from town to town or generation to generation. Songs traveled with wandering minstrels and
soldiers as well as those who moved across the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In other types of country music you might hear the accordion, the harmonica, the piano, washboards
or drums which didn t become popular till the 1960‘s but are used a lot in today‘s bands. Country
music began in music styles brought over by the European settlers. In medieval times, storytelling was
a tradition that allowed history to be recorded when few were able to read and write. When the first
British settlers came to America, they brought this tradition with them, along with songs they had
learned in Europe. The people who settled in the Appalachian Mountains and the West did not have an
easy life and their music was their only outlet. While country music began with ballads (a narrative
that is sung) and songs of the British Isles, it changed in content and personality as it grew in America.
The British songs were objective, often resembling gruesome stories. They had many themes of the
supernatural, avenging spirits, loves found and lost, and violent happenings. In America, the songs
became very subjective and personal, downplayed the supernatural, and, in songs of crimes,
emphasized the evil acts while minimizing the gore. When the songs had to do with love gone bad, the
American s ballad removed the violence and gruesomeness. The change may have been due to the
philosophy of the Southern lifestyle. Another characteristic of the American ballad is the addition of
moral ending to songs.

Is it what appears in front of us or is it something else beyond what our mind can process directly.
Plato talks about the this in his Allegory of the Cave. In the allegory, Plato uses the metaphor of
prisoners who have never been outside of a cave being shown shadows that look like animals and
other forms of life. If the prisoners are given the same choice that Morpheus presents to Neo, to stay in
the cave or leave it most would choose to stay in the reality they are familiar with. I like Neo would
opt for the unpopular path of leaving the matrix because once I was shown the possibility that what
was presented to me was a fallacy I would no longer be able to accept the world around me as fact.
Plato explains that anyone who makes the choice to leave the cave would then see what creates the
shadows on the cave wall, therefore, starting on a path of true knowledge. Neo leaving the cave or the
matrix by taking the red pill consequently starts him on a quest to find out what was creating his
pseudo reality. When Neo made his decision to leave the matrix he opted for a world of true
knowledge over that of appearances. Neo gains the power of being able to think about the abstraction
that is the matrix. As a result he can begin to try to rationalize what construct the matrix and his new

The American Dream is so many different things to so many different people. While other countries

Dinesh D Souza claims that it is not wealth that Americans want. He believes that it is simply a better
life. Michael Moore too acknowledges Americans ambition, especially his own, to create a better life
for themselves. These two views of the American Dream come from very opposite Americans, but it is
their differences that make their ideals so beautifully unique.

D Souza, on the other hand, is an avid supporter of his image of the American Dream and its presence
in America. Dinesh explains the popularity of the American Dream worldwide is because people wish
for, the American way of life. (D Souza, 73) As if it was coming from a foreigner, he continues to
exemplify the American Dream as an outsider looking in and seeing all of the splendor and appeal of
Americans lives. It is this enchantment that causes people from all ends of the Earth to migrate to the
United States and even leave their families and traditions. The most emphasized element and
essentially the core of the American Dream is the ability to, write the script of your own life. (D
Souza, 83) The writer gives his own real life example of the American Dream, through his emergence
as a writer and later a White House Staff member simply because he pursued his own dream. Through
the constant comparisons with the inequalities present in countries throughout the World, D Souza is
fascinated with the diversity of America and the, tolerant society , that this diversity has spawned. (D
Souza, 94)
Immediately it is obvious that these two interpretations of the current status of the American Dream
are nearly political polar opposites. Michael Moore mercilessly attacks the government s refusal to

Beginning in the year 1765 the British began taxing the colonies, as a result of war debt, yet this only

protests Britain lowered the duties substantially. Then in 1765 the Stamp Act was passed certifying

Explain Why the Hispanic Vote Is Becoming More Important...
Explain why the Hispanic vote is becoming more important in US elections (10 marks)
Hispanics are a growing group in the USA in terms of politics, this can be seen through demographics,
according to the 2000 census, they did form 12% of the population, but by the 2010 census this figure
has increased over 16% (51 million people) this was due to immigration and birth rates, therefore over
the years they have become more influential as they are now a larger proportion or the electorate.
Furthermore, because they are a young group and a significant proportion are not yet of voting age,
with one quarter of Hispanics being under 18, Their full political importance is yet to show as they
have not yet acquired the right to vote, which is one ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This could be due to George D. Bush though, as in the 2000 he made a significant effort to pitch for
the Hispanic vote, with the help of him speaking fluent Spanish. However, in 2012 these figures went
down to 27%. With 71% of the Hispanic population supporting Obama and the Democratic beliefs
such as rights for ethnic minorities, welfare and supporters of the dream act allowing for
naturalisation. There was also evidence of the alienation of this group however, by Romney in 2012,
whose reference to self deportation and anti immigration views in the campaign is thought to have
affected his chances of winning in several states and for some future Republicans in their campaigns.
But, Hispanics did help push Republicans to victory in a few 2014 races, as when Cory Gardner
ousted Colorado Senator.
When looking at political campaigns in recent years there has been increasing evidence in the parties
campaigns for the support of this racial group as they are being targeted in the campaigns in a strategic
manner, by campaigning in Spanish or supporting citizenship, or heavy focus on Hispanic candidates
from the parties for examples the Republican focus was on candidates such as Marco Rubio and Ted
Cruz.
It is true that the Hispanic population, at 53 million, is still much smaller than the non Hispanic
population, at around 260 million. But it s also a population that represents a massive opportunity for
either party. In

This is not to say that after finding the connection our analysis is done, but it actually goes beyond
that. The assumption that a text reflects what is in the society, is enriched and explored more by using

The Instability of Female Quixote
In The Female Quixote, the whimsical nature of fiction is not just a barrier to social acceptance, but an
absurdity. Following popular notions of the time, fiction is presented as a diversion and an indulgence
that cannot be reconciled with reality and threatens the reader s perception of actual experience. The
theme is common, as is evident through the basis of this novel, Cervantes s Don Quixote, and other
works such as Northanger Abbey by Jane Austen. The story is a series of examples of what not to do,
acting as both a cautionary tale and conduct guide. But there is a fundamental instability in the work

2008) Additionally, Aileen also received word that her brother Keith had passed due to throat cancer.
She was not only devastated, but also alone in the world since he was the only loyal person by her
side. As she had done in the past, she resorted back to her heavy drinking and life of prostitution.

Mandela Long Walk To Freedom Essay
Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom was a film directed by Justin
Chadwick about the life of Nelson Mandela and a revolution he led Anti Apartheid Movement. The
movie was released on November 28, 2013, a week before Mandela s death . It was based on Mandela
s autobiography Long Walk to Freedom . The film includes many factual incidents which took place in
South Africa during that time period. The movie shows most of the trivial details and the oppressed
people s suffering. Overall, Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom is a movie that accurately depicts the
events that occurred at the time.
The movie was inspired by and based on Mandela s autobiography which shows that it was accurate
since he was the one writing about his own life and his own actions. In the autobiography, Mandela
portrayed the most important ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The movie depicted an extremely impactful event in history to not just millions of South Africans, but
also many people around the world. Many people including Mandela had went through a lot of pain
and misery in order to end the Apartheid. His struggle did not go without change, Mandela describes
his journey as a Long Walk to Freedom, which shows that even though it was long, he still got to
where he wanted to be after all. He finally accomplished his purpose and goal in life. I chose this
movie because I remember how many people were affected by his death and saw him on the news a
lot for a while, but I never knew why he was such a respected man. I knew about the Apartheid, but I
did not know what role he played in it. After viewing the movie and seeing the obstacles he overcame
and the hardship he endured, I was able to understand why so many people looked up to him. Mandela
s story should be something people are educated about because he played a significant part in
changing history and making the world a better place by spreading peace and creating an equal

Winged Victory Of Samothrace Analysis
The Winged Victory of Samothrace, also referred to as the Nike of Samothrace, is a marble Hellenistic
sculpture of The Greek goddess of victory, Nike. Created in 190 BC by an unknown artist and
constructed with parian marble, it stands at 5.57 meters although the goddess herself stands only at
2.75 meters. The sculpture was discovered in 1863 on the island of Samothrace on a French
exploration led by amateur archaeologist Charles Champoiseau. In its original setting, the Nike was
mounted on the prow of a stone ship in a temple, and was assumed to be overlooking the sanctuary of
the great gods on the island of Samothrace. The sculpture has been displayed at the most distinguished
museum in the world, the Louvre, in Paris, since 1884. Even in its current condition, this sculpture
continues to inspire many across the globe with its vision of victory and triumph. ... Show more

This technique, used by Greek sculptors for the head and other parts of the statue began as early as the
Archaic Period. ( The period in Greek history lasting from the eighth century BC to 480 BC, post
Greek Dark Ages and succeeded by the Classical period.) The work has many signs of damage and
decay, among these are missing body parts such as the capital and the right wing. The surface is worn
down, although still shows clear creases and details throughout the texture of the piece. The head,
wings, and the drapery were carved separately before the work as a whole was eventually assembled.
The wings were attached with no external support and it s a marvel that one is still managing to adhere

Essay On Lower House Of Government
The United States and France are two countries with similar ways of electing the lower house of
government. Both countries are divided into districts with single member representation. However, the
United States uses a majority system, first past the post, while France uses a majority plurality, two
round system. With each system there are separate advantages and disadvantages. Nonetheless, the
first past the post system used in the United States is more efficient, cost effective, and
comprehendible to the average person. The United States of America elects the lower house of
government using simple majority. This system can also be described as a plurality, or first past the
post. The United States is divided into 435 different districts by population, with one individual
representing each constituency. Members of the House of Representatives, the lower house of
government in the United States, are elected every two years. (Parline Database, 2016) The methods
by which candidates are brought to the ballot vary by state. However, most states use a partisan
primary to bring candidates to the final ballot. For example, Washington State uses the top two method
to bring candidates to the ballot. Under this ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Under plurality, the individual who receives the most votes receives the seat in the House of
Representatives. The individual may not always receive the majority of votes because more than two
individuals may receive votes. This leads to wasted votes in that everyone who voted for the losing
candidate does not have their vote represented. In addition, more seats may be given to a political
party than votes received. If a political party receives a plurality of votes with thirty percent
nationwide, they may be the new majority party but seventy percent of the country still voted for
somebody else. (Hoard,

At the time, congress was radically Republican, yet had trouble passing legislature due to the Democratic President in office, Andrew Johnson. The election of 1868 election was important for Republicans, as they set out to obtain control over the executive branch of government. Thomas Nast was one of many editorial cartoonists to expose the Democratic party s resistance towards reconstruction during the campaign season of the election of 1868. Nast displays how the ape like, Irish drunkard, with his cigars and alcohol bottles is allowed to vote, yet the black man who fought for the Union in an effort to unify the nation is unable to vote. Another aspect of irony displayed in this cartoon has to do with the background, in which a Freedman s school is burning and a black man has been lynched. These two actions, taken out by supporters of the Democratic party are violations of the black people s rights to education, as well as safety to live in America. The irony is that the Democrats describe the Reconstruction Acts as unconstitutional [and] revolutionary while the actions being carried out by Democrats are just that, and Nast s cartoon serves to point that out. The final irony, a sad one is created by the inclusion of an American flag below the black Union soldier. This flag shows that the actions being taken by the Democrats are not only hurting the black people and preventing them from advancing as a society, but are preventing America from advancing as a nation. It shows the result of the Democrats actions and provides warning to the Republicans that they need to get out and vote or else their country will ultimately pay the ... Built in multilevel integrity: Data integrity is built into the model at the field level to ensure the accuracy of the data; at the table level to ensure that records are not duplicated and to detect missing primary key values; at the relationship level to ensure that the relationship between a pair of tables is valid; and at the business level to ensure that the data is accurate in terms of the business itself. Logical and physical data independence from database applications: Neither changes a user makes to the logical design of the database, nor changes a database software vendor makes to the physical implementation of the database, will adversely affect the applications built upon it. The song was not a revolutionary song in the traditional sense, but a prayer for freedom and equality. The meaning of the lyrics, shown below, called for the Lord to help the people. The exact nature of Duddy s greed is exhibited when he works at the Hotel Lac des Sables in Ste. Agathe. He is tricked into acting as banker for a rigged roulette game where he loses three hundred dollars. Owing to this failure , Duddy runs away from the resort with shame, but Irwin (the one who swindles him) is forced to return the money. After he receives the money from Irwin, he is welcomed by Mr. Cohen, one of the guests, who along with other contributors has donated five hundred dollars to pay Duddy back. Here it is observed that Duddy has no moral values: Duddy rushed upstairs..... and did a few somersaults (Richler 92). He has just received eight hundred dollars in total. He goes from being a child and escaping from his problems, to a man with money. Duddy s ambitions are based off this childish greed. His greed drives his confidence and gives him an ego. This affects other characters too, such as Virgil, who knows no better of Duddy and looks up to him as a guru. This subsequently allowed the ancient Egyptians to begin farming with relative ease as the Nile River stretched some 6500 kilometres, which is more than enough farming area for a civilisation with a relatively small population. The ancient Egyptians were further blessed by the fact that the Nile River, would flood on a yearly basis bringing in rich silt that ultimately acted as fertilisers for the crops, and thus allowing for less labour and higher yield. The Nile River itself has no doubt contributed to the general optimism of Egyptian culture which is evident in the Hymn to the Nile whereby it states May your countenance shine on us, Hapy, god of the moving River, who comes forth from the earth returning to save the Black Land. Postpartum Hemorrhage Postpartum Hemorrhage Introduction Postpartum hemorrhage (PPH) is a significantly life threatening complication that can occur after both vaginal and caesarean births (Ricci Kyle, 2009). Simpson and Creehan (2008) define PPH as the amount of blood loss after vaginal birth, usually more than 500mL, or after a caesarean birth, normally more than 1000mL. However, the definition is arbitrary, attributed to the fact that loss of blood during birth is intuitive and widely inaccurate (Ricci Kyle, 2009). In line with this, studies have suggested that health care providers consistently underestimate actual blood loss, thus, an objective definition of PPH would be any amount of bleeding that exposes a mother in hemodynamic jeopardy (Ricci ... The sign and symptoms of PPH include; the apparent excessive bleeding, hematocrit reduction of the number of red blood cells, reduced blood pressure, development of symptoms of shock and anaemia, and severe pain and swelling of tissues and muscles of the vagina, vulva, pelvic and perineum (Simpson Creehan, 2008). Besides, Ricci Kyle (2009) avow that there are different factors that place a mother at risk for PPH, and they comprise; prolonged first, second or third stage of labour, previous history of PPH, foetal macrosomia, uterine infection, arrest of descent and multiple gestation. Other risk factors may include; mediolateral episiotomy, coagulation abnormalities, maternal hypertension, maternal exhaustion, malnutrition or anaemia, preeclampsia, precipitous birth, polyhydramnios and previous placenta previa (Ricci Kyle, 2009). Diagnosis and Assessment The principal mode of diagnosis is a differential diagnosis, and it includes a plethora of facets; bleeding from implantation site, which may be due to uterine atony, with predisposing factors such as infections, and retained placenta or abnormal placentation (Sheiner, 2011). Coagulation disorders and trauma are also essential facets considered during diagnosis (Sheiner, 2011). Conventionally, there are different methods used for the estimation of blood loss during diagnosis, and they are majorly classified as clinical and quantitative methods (Ricci Kyle, 2009). The student I chose, J, is in a team member s class. He caught my attention at my school s academic fair. He is Mexican and was born in Mexico. Before delving into my observations on J I want to first describe what his second language acquisition stage is. Based on what I observed from his communication in class and his writing I have concluded that he is stage three: the speech emergence stage. He can communicate in simple sentences, but when he communicates in longer and complex sentences he makes grammatical mistakes. Although he has been in the country for four years I feel his language development has been hindered by being pushed along in school, never getting enough one on one instruction, and not enough ELL support in terms of a teacher pulling him aside to help more often. In a more intense supportive environment I think he would already be in stage four. Reed (2003) informs readers that having an understanding of ELL students will dramatically improve the ability to understand and teach an ELL student more. The British colonized India, the Dutch colonized Indonesia, the United States colonized the Philippines, and the French colonized Vietnam. In 1929, the crash of the stock market brought a worldwide depression, known as the Great Depression. The depression caused instability in many countries. International commerce declined and tax revenues, profits, and personal income decreased. The Great Depression especially impacted countries that were in need of raw materials. Between the time of 1853 to 1941, Japan s culture and political structure changed anticipating westernization because they wanted to be seen as equals to the Western countries. Japan also became more militaristic so that they would not be seen as a victim of imperialism. Although Japan experienced some changes, Japan continued the ideology of kokutai as a method for imperial advancement. Japan s cultural and political structure changed from being a weak isolated nation to a modern imperialist country. Before Japan westernized, it was under the rule of the Tokugawa Shogunate. This was an agricultural economy with a population of 13 billion. Japan did not associate with any other country because they believed foreign influence was a destabilizing factor. • 29. Risk Takers Compare And Contrast Despite the lack of communication, the comparison between risk takers and reckless people is a key factor in life. Everyone will most likely experience one of these once in their life, but the real question is which one will you be? Although they bear many minor similarities, the differences between reckless and risk takers are obvious. Risk takers are people who represent the act of being cautious while at the same time realizing there s a slight chance of failing. On the other hand, reckless people show poor behavior such as being careless or acting foolish. A prime example would be NASCAR drivers. These professionals risk their life doing what they love, while at the same time being extremely aware of potential danger. Even though they still carry an abundance of experience, they still make sure they have their armor equipped on their body and personal vehicles. Reckless people basically don t follow rules. The typical musician sang only to entertain himself, his family or at local events. There is evidence of square dance like events as far back as the 1830s (with origins in European country dancing). At first, most country music was either sung by itself or played on a lone fiddle or banjo. A good fiddler was a very popular person and was often asked to perform at events ranging from weddings to cattle drives. There was no concerted effort to preserve the songs played, but the songs that people loved lasted as they were passed from town to town or generation to generation. In other types of country music you might hear the accordion, the harmonica, the piano, washboards or drums which didn t become popular till the 1960‘s but are used a lot in today‘s bands. Country music began in music styles brought over by the European settlers. In medieval times, storytelling was a tradition that allowed history to be recorded when few were able to read and write. When the first British settlers came to America, they brought this tradition with them, along with songs they had learned in Europe. The people who settled in the Appalachian Mountains and the West did not have an easy life and their music was their only outlet. While country music began with ballads (a narrative that is sung) and songs of the British Isles, it changed in content and personality as it grew in America. The British songs were objective, often resembling gruesome stories. They had many themes of the supernatural, avenging spirits, loves found and lost, and violent happenings. In America, the songs became very subjective and personal, downplayed the supernatural, and, in songs of crimes, emphasized the evil acts while minimizing the gore. When the songs had to do with love gone bad, the American s ballad removed the violence and gruesomeness. The change may have been due to the philosophy of the Southern lifestyle. Another characteristic of the American ballad is the addition of moral ending to songs. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

If the prisoners are given the same choice that Morpheus presents to Neo, to stay in the cave or leave it most would choose to stay in the reality they are familiar with.
