Descriptive Essay About Mother
Writing a descriptive essay about one's mother may seem like a straightforward task, but the
challenge lies in capturing the essence of a person who holds such a significant and unique place
in one's life. The difficulty arises not from a lack of material or personal experiences but rather
from the overwhelming abundance of emotions and memories that flood the writer's mind.
Attempting to encapsulate the multifaceted nature of a mother's personality, the warmth of her
love, the nuances of her character, and the countless sacrifices she makes can be a daunting task.
How does one distill the depth of a mother-child relationship into a few pages? Moreover, the
struggle lies in striking a balance between providing concrete details that paint a vivid picture
and avoiding clichГ©s that risk oversimplifying the complexity of the maternal bond.
The emotional connection to the subject matter can be both a driving force and an obstacle. On
one hand, it fuels the desire to convey the depth of appreciation and love. On the other, it may
lead to a struggle with finding the right words to do justice to the unique qualities that make
one's mother special. The challenge is not only to portray the external attributes but also to delve
into the intangible aspects of the relationship — the unwavering support, the unspoken
understanding, and the profound impact on one's life.
As the writer grapples with selecting the most significant memories and characteristics to
highlight, there's the risk of becoming overwhelmed by sentimentality. Striking a balance
between expressing genuine emotions and maintaining a sense of objectivity becomes a tightrope
walk. A successful essay on this topic requires not only eloquence but also introspection and a
keen observational eye.
In conclusion, crafting a descriptive essay about one's mother demands a delicate interplay of
emotions, memories, and linguistic prowess. It involves navigating the intricate tapestry of a
relationship that is deeply personal and universally relatable. However, with careful consideration
and a thoughtful approach, the writer can succeed in capturing the essence of a mother's love
and influence.

Populations
Objective: To determine the prevalence and types of cancer among urban rural
populations and their relation to socioeconomic status.
Methodology: A cross sectional study carried out in three hospitals in Punjab named
Mayo Hospital, Lahore, Nishtar hospital and civil hospital in Multan, Pakistan. All
the new cases of cancers (all known types of cancer) were recorded during the months
of August 2013 through February 2014. Details of age, sex, socioeconomic status,
address whether rural or urban, stage, type of cancer and hemoglobin levels at the
time of presentation were recorded after taking the verbal consent from the patients
and the attendees. For data analysis, Statistical Package of Social Sciences (SPSS v.

and 14 (35%) were rich, 21 (52.5%) were rural patients and 19 (47.5%) urban.
Squamous cell carcinoma with 29 cases (9.5%): 23 (79.3%) were poor and 6 (20.7%)
were rich, 22 (75.86%) were rural patients and 7 (24.16%) urban. Carcinoma of
cervix with 22 cases (7.2%); 16 (72.72%) were poor and 6 (27.3%) were rich, 13
(59.1%) patients were from rural areas 9 (40.9%) were from urban areas. Several
other rare carcinomas resembling Wilms tumor, with as few cases as 1 case in the
time period of 6 months are also discussed.
Conclusion: The study shows that in general, cancer is extra prevalent in poor
socioeconomic status, population and those patients that live in rural areas. Further
study should be carried out to observe the effects of other variables reminiscent of
screening, knowledge to pursue medical attention, the time to search for medical
attention, implementation of preventive methods, environmental factors should be
taken into account and the geographical area should be increased so that the study
can be carried on a larger scale.

There are two types of recording information, these are manual and electronic.
There are security issues with both, security of electronic data/info has to be kept
up to date and passwords changed regularly to help to stop unauthorised access,
this also needs to be kept up to date regularly. There should also be a back up disk
which should also have the same kind of security that paperwork has. Manually
recording/storage should be kept in a secure place with access only to those that need
it, this may be in a locked cupboard that the manager has the key for and you have

The Roman And Mongolian Empires
The Roman and Mongolian empires were among the largest contiguous nations in the
history of humanity. The provinces of their empires stretched across vast swaths of
the globe, and their dominion included a diverse variety of cultures and people. These
nations were able to accomplish this because of certain advantages given to them by
their cultures and value systems. The Roman and Mongolian armies used superior
technology, combined with militaryand political stratagems, to conquer and rule
extremely large, organized, and wealthy empires despite their incredibly
heterogeneous cultures and systems of conduct. Both of these superior military
forces exemplified similarities in strength, organization, and higher military strategies,
but their differences concerning weapons, uniforms, and cultural values presented a
stark contrast from each other and how they performed conquering and governing
their empires. The structures of the Roman and Mongolian armies were clearly
defined and created the standard of militaristic organization for modern day
militaries. The commanders of armies are what eventually determine if victory is
achieved. The well organized machine requires a brain to control it, and likewise the
structured armies of Mongoliaand Rome needed generals of talent to direct their
destructive force towards a beneficial objective. Roman and Mongolian officers were
given specific objectives, but were allowed to achieve those objectives however they
determined. This freedom
Blues Music In Toni Morrison s The Song Of Solomon
Toni Morrison bases the novel off of blues music. The song of Solomon is based
on an old blues song about Sugarman. Morrison uses blues music to name her
characters, such as Milkman s best friend Guitar , which is a principal instrument
in blues music. The way Guitar criticizes black women counteracts the stereotypical
criticisms which Morrison, the female blues singer is suggesting. As a novelist
Morrison takes on the role as a blues singer to write how folklore can make for a
better future for her people, she also writes about the traditional male and female
roles of African American people in the blues era. A common model that Morrison
uses in the novelto show the lifestyle of her people are men who fly away and leave

Not only does she save him from his father s aggression while his mother, Ruth, was
pregnant with him, but it is her African smells, tastes, and spiritualism which

family history rests on him figuring out the folksong Pilate sings at his birth. When
Pilate sings about Sugarman flying away, she is telling and African folklore story
about how men leave their women behind to sing the blues. Morrison s attention to
storytelling traditions reflects specific aspects of women s role in African culture;
Song of Solomon uses other African artistic traditions as
Satire In Mark Twain
1.What is the issue Twain is satirizing?
Mark Twain is satirizing the advice young people are given by authoritative figures
on different issues in life. The words of wisdom used to guide youth usually promote
the same ideals and are repeated so often that in some sense they lose their strength.
That does not mean though that the issues they touch upon are not important. Twain
uses humor to actually make young people go beyond the banality and conformity
and ask questions of importance.
2.What techniques does Twain use to create his satire?
Mark Twain uses hyperbole by saying that he is giving his advice beseechingly and
urgingly. He is also being ironic in the beginning by saying that he is supposed to say
something suitable for young ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It can cause shock in the beginning but that makes it even stronger. He manages to
instill the idea that we are all special, everybody in their own way and the person
sitting next to us deserves as much respect and appreciation as we do. He also
demonstrates that we need to live life for the better of ourselves and others equally
because that will bring us true satisfaction.
7.How are the messages communicated by Twain and McCullough similar?
These speeches manage to deliver an important message for young people through
humor. Both Mark Twain and McCullough satirize one extreme to reinforce the truth
behind their concepts.
8.Which message could you relate to more? Explain why in a minimum of three
sentences.
I relate more with Mark Twain s message because there is a certain point in a young
people s lives when we start to see our parents and teachers more as humans and
not as authority figures. This contradiction between words and actions is something
that can lead to confusion. I believe that young people should more often be
challenged to explore things, and ask questions. Rules and norms are there for a
reason, but so are contradictions. But there is much more than just saying what is
wrong and right. Thinking on your own is a step that is necessary for a person in
order for him or her to be adequate in all stages of

colored girls by Ntozake Shange, the movie express the struggles and obstacles that
African American women face throughout their life. The movie reveals seven women
who are brought together through their own troubles. The movies deals with love,
abandonment, rape, and abortions; at the end of the film all seven women come
together evoking the power of women hood amongst black African Americanfemales.

Akeelah Research Paper
Akeelah works hard to achieve her personal legend and her whole world conspires
to help make that happen. Akeelah Anderson, is a eleven year old African
American student from the Crenshaw neighborhood of South Los Angeles,
struggles to overcome the limitations of her environment. In the early stages of the
movie Akeelah has a passion for spelling. Spelling is a secret talent Akeelah holds
and excels at, but does not wish to share, as she would be perceived as a brainiac .
Akeelah s enjoyment of spelling is showcased, when she adds a new word she
learns or hears to her diary. This habit was a good omen because it created more
pathways for her which would eventually lead her to what she truly enjoys and not be

that brings Akeelah closer to her personal legend, because her aptitude for words

Akeelah s English teacher, Mrs. Cross, acknowledges Akeelah s ability, and

she is capable of succeeding if she applies herself. Supposing that Akeelah may
have an interest in spelling based on her keen ability, Mrs. Cross encourages
Akeelah to enter the school spelling bee. She refuses to participate in the school
spelling bee until the principal suggests that she should because she is the only hope
that can bring the school some attention. When Akeelah gets a taste of victory by
winning the school bee, she is smothered by spellings that Dr. Larabee throws at her
to spell as she spells each word without a

To clone complementary DNA (cDNA), it is necessary to obtain a library including
the sequence of interest. Then the clones that are of interest are isolated and tested to
ensure they are the right clones. cDNA is then synthesized through reverse
transcription by the reverse transcriptase enzyme which yields a complementary DNA
from the RNA. The cDNA is incorporated into a vector to allow for manipulation.
Screening is then done using cultures such as E.coli bacterial lawns. The cDNA is
then tested to ascertain that it achieves the required objective. (A cDNA library
comprises of sequences complementary to the mRNA.)
Question 2
Genomics is a discipline of genetics that deals with sequencing and analysis of an
organism s genome. Genomics is achieved by applying recombinant DNA, gene
sequencing methods and bioinformatics to analyze the structure and functions of a
genome (the complete set of DNA within a single cell of an organism). Gene
sequencing is the determining of the exact order of bases in a strand of DNA. It is
done in genome projects so that scientists can assemble the sequence to replicate the
original chromosome which they can then study and analyze. This enables the
scientist to study the expression of the genes on the chromosomes under lab
conditions.

Essay on Prerequistes of Deliberative Democracy
Deliberative Democracy strives to bring people together, and discuss their problems
in order to create a better form of governmental policy. However, some are skeptical
of deliberative democracies ability to get individuals to communicate with one
another in modern pluralistic societies like the US. When discussing important
political matters, people have the tendency to not pay attention to the arguments of
others, as they are only fixated on their own arguments. It is basic human nature for
people to act in this way, which is the reason deliberative democrats have outlined
certain prerequisites that must be followed, in order for deliberation to take place.
Without these certain rules and regulations in the deliberation, it will simply... Show

Democratic deliberation is not about which people are right and wrong, but rather
getting people to gather together and discuss the issues that matter the most. It is
during this active discussion amongst people that they start to learn about each
other. Most of the time, it is a lack of knowledge that separate people from one
another. Once, they start to understand each other, they can actively engage in
creating policies that will benefit their society. In this deliberation, everyone has a
voice and all opinions are held as equal, which give the policies created legitimacy,
as everyone plays an active role. Without these ideals, respect would be lost and these
deliberations would be diminished to shouting matches, which would benefit nobody.
Skeptical of deliberative democracy, Rosenberg believes people do not think the way
deliberative democrats assume. As explained, in an active deliberation people must
practice reciprocity, publicity, and accountability, but Rosenberg believes actual
deliberations are likely to stray from these standards. Although it is ambitious for
deliberative democracy to ask for impartiality of one s own opinion, this simply is not
true from a psychological standpoint. Rosenberg explains people judge each other,
favor their own judgment, and devalue views that contradict their own. Using

Americans as naГЇve, superficial, emotional, and immature (Tanner 37). But in order

Many people had imperceptible answers to the questions like, what did it all mean
in the end and what were the accomplishments? Stokely Carmichael wrote a book
called Black Power and in it he wrote about how black people in that time did not
accept segregation. Martin Luther King also made important points in his speeches
about segregation and how during this time black people decided to make a change.
The movement in the Alabama Black Belt lasted the longest and many people do not
acknowledge that fact. Even after all the protests started to fade away from the
headlines, black people in Alabama continued to protest for freedom. Many black
citizens in Alabama began to realize that there were other white people in Alabama
who also wanted to end segregation. In Lowndes County, Alabama, there was a rich
man who owned thousands of acres of land, named Harrell Hammonds.
Hammonds was a probate judge who raised cattle and grew cotton on his farm.
Hammonds was also an aristocratic politician. Many people noticed Hammonds as
being against segregation. Hammonds argued in a court of law that everyone
should be treated equally no matter the color of their skin. Later in his life,
Hammonds also gave his support for black people to be able to get an equal
education as white people.
There was an unhappy ending to Hammonds support to end segregation. Many people

Most Memorable Year of High School Baseball
Some things in life you will never forget. That s how I feel about my freshman
year at Boswell High School. The memories are engraved in my mind as though it
were yesterday. When I was in eighth grade and my brother was a junior, he had led
his team, the Scorpions, to the state tournament for the first time in school history.
They didn t get past the quarterfinals, but I was proud of him. As I watched my
brother walking off the field at Edmond Memorial High School with his head
hanging, I made up my mind right then and there that he would be back the next
year, and I would help him do that. It would be the only year of high school that my
brother and I would get to play together. I would be going into ninth grade, and he
would be a senior. We were both determined to make this year of playing together
one we would never forget. Before we knew it school was starting, and I finally got
to play on the high school team with my brother. It just seemed excitement was in
the air from the first day. The games started and we were playing good, stacking up
the wins. Our first game of the season was at Achille, and I hit a homer while my
brother was on base. It was a great feeling to watch him score on my hit! Before
long, people were saying, you better not sleep on that combo! We had always lived
and breathed baseball. I quickly became the second best pitcher on the team running a
close race behind my brother. If he was pitching, I
Gender Gap Essay
What is a gender gap? And what does it mean to different people? Typically, a gender
gap is the difference between men and women pertaining to opportunities, status, and
attitudes. According to David Barash, Ph. D., and Judith Lipton, M. D., to different
people this could mean that, men and women tend to differ in their political
preferences (with men being somewhat more likely to vote Republican these days,
and women, Democratic). For others it indicates any male female differences...

Though once this was broken, another woman was not elected again. These
governments simply elected a woman to hold office just to prove that they are not
prejudice towards women. During the 2016 United States Presidential Election, the
first female presidential candidate was nominated for the Democratic Party. Though
this candidate did not win the election, this does agree with Barash and Lipton s
previous statement about women generally being a part of the Democratic Party.
Do we need more women in power? A simple question that would create lots of
controversy. If a feminist is asked this question, his or her obvious answer would be
yes. These people will argue that typically women of power will show more
compassion and empathy. Having a female leader would change the norm in what is
needed to run a country. This would break the gendergap and prove that a woman is
just as capable to run a country as a man is. According to the CNN article, Why We
Need More Women Leaders, women are starting to break through in politics and
rise. Though the President of the United States has never been a female, there are
currently a dozen women who hold the office of head of state or government.
Feminists want to increase this number. These people want women to have just as
much power as a man would. If a woman has the ability to do a certain thing, she
should be allowed to do so.
Not all people who do not want a woman to hold power are

Cinderella In Therapy Essay
Cinderella in Therapy
In the movie Cinderella, Cinderella is a maid to an evil stepmother and two very
heartless and obnoxious stepsisters. The only reason that Cinderella still puts up
with their orders is an example of the Behavioral perspective. The Behavioral
Perspective puts emphasis on learning by experience with rewards and punishments.
She knows that if she does not do the chores, she will be punished or thrown out of
the household. She does not have anywhere to go because her mother and father have
passed away. Because Cinderella is a genuinely kind human being who wishes to

She is very kind to all creatures, whether it be animals or humans. Cinderella takes it
upon herself to robe, feed, and befriend the animals of the house. She takes care of
her evil stepmother and stepsisters because she is good at heart, and she will put up
with their torture to help them. She could choose not to help them, or just to leave,
but she knows that she won t have anything left, and they need her. It is because of
this pure, perfect attitude that the prince falls in love with her instantly, and not with
the other girls that just want to be with the prince for superficial reasons. Her
effervescent kind heartedness that prevails through her hardships is an example of
the humanistic perspective. The humanistic perspective views behavior as controlled
by the decisions that people make about their lives based on their perceptions of the
world. It s a view in which personality is seen as developing through an actualizing
tendency which unfolds in accordance with each person s unique perceptions of the
world.
There are some small parts in the movie that infer what Cinderella wants through her
dreams. This would be an example of psychoanalysis which is a method that seeks to
help gain insight into one s mind by recognizing and understanding unconscious
thoughts and emotions. She mentions that she dreams at night of finding someone
who will take her away from the house she is spending her days in now.
Confucianism Dbq Analysis
According to Confucianism a ruler should set a good example for his subjects
because people follow the leader. If the leader is corrupt and acts as if he is above the
law then people will copy him and act as he does. If the ruler follows the rules then
so will the people. Legalists believe that people are inherently evil and a good

Without a strong military they would be defenseless against attacks either from
neighbors or from revolts inside their own nation. The Persians were aware of the
need for a strong military and used to teach their kids from when they were five
years old to when they were twenty years old, how to ride a horse and how to
shoot a bow. (Doc 1) They trained their children from when they were young how
to fight because they knew it is of utmost importance to have a strong military. In
Sparta as well, the children were in school learning how to fight from when they
were very young and because of this Sparta was able to defend itself from Persia
when they attacked. They did however need to turn to Athens for help, because
they also had military training that was superior to its adversaries. A ruler whose
own nation revolts needs a good military in order to end the revolt and make sure
everything goes back to normal because without that he would be vulnerable, and

Coral Reefs In Florida
Coral Reefs
In the United States, Florida is the only state that has coral reefs that form near the
coast. It runs along the east coast from Stuart, located in Martin County, to the Dry
Tortugas which are located in the Gulf of Mexico. Along the chain of the Florida
Keys is where most of the living coral reefs are also located in the Everglades. Coral
reef development occurs only in areas with specific environmental characteristics: a
solid structure for attachment, relatively warm water temperatures, clear waters low
in phosphate and moderate wave action to disperse wastes and bring oxygen and

The Eighteenth Brumaire of Louis Bonaparte is a text written by Karl Marx about
the French coup of 1851. During this revolution, Napoleon Bonaparte took over the
state and assumed power. The following quote from the preface best describes Marx
s perspective on the text.
I, on the contrary, demonstrate how the class struggle in France created
circumstances and relationships that made it possible for a grotesque mediocrity to
play a hero s part.
The purpose of this text is to analyse the social and political circumstance of the time

demand for the simplest bourgeois financial reform, for the most ordinary liberalism,

punished as an assault upon society and is branded as Socialism. o Socialism was used
as an object to blame as the revolution brought about some real changes. Financial

the struggle between the Base and the Superstructure, and also within the
superstructure State Power vs Culture or the Norm.

Teen Curfew
Teen curfews have been in debate in most major cities for a while now. Parents and
city council members have been trying to push laws to have young adults home safe
and sound where they should be at a more reasonable time. Teen curfews are a good
idea and should be enforced. Not only would it show more responsibility on the
young adult s part, but it would support teen safety. Another advantage to a curfewis
that it would will help teens to be less sleep deprived.
Responsibility is something that takes time to learn. We all had to go through those
trial and error moments where we have to find our on way, or learn new things. Teen
curfews would help enable that sense of responsibility and trust. Teens would have

what you have done for them. We all must do our part in helping them to grow and

specialized computer package DEAP 2.1 was used to handle the data. The BCC
model (named afer those who proposed it; Bank, Charnes and Cooper) is employed
to evaluate the overall efficiency, the pure technical efficiency, and the scale
efficiency (Overall efficiency = Technical efficiency à Scale efficiency;
Banker, Charnes and Cooper 1984). Table 1 groups the DEA results by hotel
operational styles. Of the 25 properties, 14 have an overall efficiency score of 1.0,
which is relatively efficient. Of the franchised hotels (Table 1.A), two are DEA
efficient, while one is relatively inefficient. The overall efficiency score of
Hotel 16 is 0.878, which means it has only attained about 88% efficiency. This is a
result of the lower pure technical efficiency score. Of the five internationally
managed hotels (Table 1.B), numbers 12 and 15 are inefficient, with an overall
efficiency score of 0.978 and 0.73, respectively. The overall inefficiency is
mostly due to technical inefficiency. Among the 17 independent hotels (Table 1.C),
1, 9, 10, 13, 19, and 23 are members of several domestic chains holding multiple
properties, with resources shared among properties. However, hotels 1 and 9 are not

George Orwell Socioeconomic Class
As Orwell explores the concept of true tyranny, he also focuses heavily on
socioeconomic class in society. As outlined in the novel Winston reads in chapter
9 of book 2, Goldstein s purported manifesto, Orwell states that there are three
socioeconomic classes the High, the Middle, and the Low that have been present
in society forever. The Party s main philosophy is also outlined in The Theory and
Practice of Oligarchical Collectivism. Ingsoc, or English Socialism, is a political
theory that involves power. Unlike the previous governments of the time, Ingsoc
and the Party s main goals are power. We know that no one ever seizes power with
the intention of relinquishing it. Power is not a means, it is an end. One does not
establish a dictatorship in order to safeguard a revolution; one makes the revolution
in order to establish the dictatorship. The object of persecution is persecution. The
object of torture is torture. The object of power is power. (Orwell 332)... Show more

The Low cannot change their status in life as they are only treated as pawns for the
current Middle to use to aid them in uprooting the current High. After grasping
power, Ingsoc made a point of dismantling the class system in order to stop the
Middle and the Low from revolting once again. Despite the Party s emphasis on
collectivism, these three socioeconomic classes are very distinct in Oceania s society,
represented by the Inner Party, the Outer Party, and the Proletarians. The Inner Party
accounts for only two percent of the entire population and acts as the ruling class.
The Outer Party is the middle class of educated workers. Lastly, the Proletarian

World Myhtology The Golden Guide Analysis
To me, this passage just emphasizes the point that we all have distinctive outlooks
on things. There is a Spanish proverb that my mom used to say to me that reminds
me of that Cada Cabeza es un mundo ( each mind is a world unto itself). Therefore,
just because we see something in a particular way, does not mean that everyone
else see it in the same way. To illustrate, recently I went to the Metropolitan Art

Similarities Between Clytemnestra And Antigone
The female characters portrayed in Aeschylus and Sophocles works have
considerably different personalities and roles, yet those females all have the common
weaknesses of being short sighted and stubborn. They intensify the conflicts within
their families while being inconsiderate of the impacts that they may bring to their
nations and societies, which leads to consequences that they are incapable of taking
responsibilities for. Clytemnestra and Antigone, two major characters in their
respective author s works, possess different motivations for their deeds in the stories.
While Clytemnestra is driven by the desire of revenge to murder her husband
Agamemnon, Antigone acts against Creons will and strives to properly bury her

Grey is the color that s everywhere among the valley implies the unfaithful
condition of those people who lives there. Under the circumstance of that time,
people cannot override these obstacles to be successful; therefore the American
Dream is not achievable for them since the poor have no opportunities to progress
their will. In addition when Tom told Wilson, Gatsby killed his wife in the valley
of ashes. Wilson s glazed eyes turned out to the ashheaps, where small grey clouds
took on fantastic shape and scurried here and there in the faint dawn wind

people have to go through. Meanwhile Tom in this case represents the corrupted

shows the hopeless of the poor and spreading the corruption among people.

Conscience In The Canterbury Tales
The Prioress s portrait is the first portrait of the General Prologue in which Chaucer
displays satire. Her portrait shows that although she is a prioress, she is not well
suited for life in the church and that she needs to work on a major part of her job:
her conscience. Chaucer mentions her conscience twice within her portrait, but
the word is never used in context of her clerical responsibilities, which Chaucer
never mentions even though they should be one of her main priorities. The word
is instead used to praise her on her courtly appearance. Chaucer s use of the word
conscience as praise in The Prioress Portrait allows him to expose her shortcoming
as a prioress without explicitly criticizing her. According to the Medieval English
Dictionary, the word conscience in the Medieval period had a few different
definitions. It could refer to one s moral sense of right and wrong with reference to
Christian ethics or it can be one s attitude of mind or feelings ... Show more content

This might refer to God s love, but in line with her desire to appear as a lady of the
court, it is more likely a tribute to courtly love instead. Although Chaucer
sardonically compliments the prioress on her appearance, he shows that one of her
greatest concerns is her appearance, and her conscience is never at the forefront of her

The Story of an Hour
The story The Story of an Hour by Kate Chopin, written in 1894, is about a woman
gaining independence and experiencing a new freedom, due to the death of her
husband. The topic of the story was rather scandalous at the end of the 19th century.
Women had no control over their property and weren t allowed to request a divorce.
Luise Mallard is a young wife (p.78, 3rd paragraph). She immediately feels grief and
starts to cry when Richards gives her the news about the death of her husband. But
directly after her outburst, the reader can already make out signs about how her
feelings will change. In the story are several symbols, showing the approaching of a

dead at his funeral. But this grief won t hold her back to enjoy the new life that lies
ahead of her. She looks forward to the coming years (p. 78, 6th paragraph, end), she
even hopes that she will have a long life, so that she can fully enjoy her freedom (p.
79, 3rd paragraph, end).
But Mrs. Mallard will never lead such al life because her husband is not dead. When
he comes through the door, directly after she realized what a life without her husband
means to her, she is shocked. She dies because of her heart trouble, already mentioned
at the beginning of the story (p.77, first sentence) and therefore foreshadowing what
could happen in the end.
The question is, what reason made her heart fail? The doctor says it was joy that
kills (p. 79, last sentence) and because of this last statement irony is created. The
reader knows more than the characters do because of the change of perspective
when Mrs. Mallard goes up to her room. The narrator changes from an authorial
narrator to a personal narrator and the reader gets a detailed description of her
feelings. This mind style enables us to suspect what the sudden appearance of Mr.
Mallard could mean for Luise. It was certainly not joy that Brently Mallard is still
alive that killed her. It was rather
Glass Ceiling And Discrimination Of Women In The
Workplace
It is no secret or surprise that women have always, and continue to be paid less than
men in the workplace. Not only that, but women are also put in low status jobs, no
matter their qualifications; a lot of women are put in a box when it comes to their
jobs or careers. It is mind blowing that women are still facing inequality when it
comes to work, considering we are living in very liberal times. Women in work
tend to go unnoticed, it might be because our nation and our world are so used to
women usually getting the shorter end of the stick, but it needs to be talked about
more if we want equality. When speaking about women in work, it is important to
talk about the typical jobs women take on that are sometimes low in status. First off,
women are more likely to be employed in unpaid care work and housework. They
take these jobs because of the time availability, relative resource perspectives, and the
symbolic representation of their gender. When women take on paid jobs, it ends up
being balanced with unpaid work because of maternity leaves. All these normality s
for women are often criticized because there is a double shift which means women...

thinks that women can only do nurturing, caring, and sensitive jobs instead of jobs

Maximum Absorbance Of Fast Green And Chlorophyls
The overall purpose of this experiment is to find the maximum absorbance of Fast
Green and chlorophylls a and b. The concentration curve of Fast Green was used to
determine the unknown concentration of unknown #17. Different techniques,
graphical or experimental, were used in this experiment such as absorbance spectrum
graphs and the use of blanks to recalibrate the spectrophotometer. Lightis a part of the
electromagnetic spectrum that varies in wave from radio waves to gamma rays. The
human eye can only detect the visible light portion of the spectrum; a range of
wavelengths (nm) from 400 nm to 700 nm. Electromagnetic radiationcan be described
as a stream of massless particles called photons that move in a wavelike motion at the
speed of light. A spectrophotometer is an instrument used to measure the amount of
amount of photons (absorbance of light) that passes through a sample solution over a
given wavelength. It does this by using a white light source that travels through a
prism, the prism separates the white light into narrow portions of the radiant energy.

eventually comes to pass by King Arthur. King Arthur s idea for the Knights of the

his idea that his optimism shielded him from the reality of what was truly going on

people have been killed in Pamplona during this event and over 300 people are
injured each year during the run. Looking back at the previous event there were a
number of people who were badly hurt and had to be taken to the hospital. In 2005
over 63 people were injured at the running of the bull s event. 2007 and 2008 has
the highest injured rate as there was over 200 people in both year. There was over
200 in 2007 and more than 300 in 2008. In 2009, 16 runners were injured during
the sixth day of the run. 2013 Running of the Bulls was very interesting to me
because a woman was included in the 50 that was badly hurt and taken to the
hospital. From my reading and understanding it stated that woman where not allow
to participate in the running of the bulls event. According to a news article, A 23
year old woman was gored in the back and suffered multiple rib fractures and damage
to her right lung during the final Bull Run in 2013. (Global news, 2013) Finally in
2014 a total of 42 people were injured and were also taken to the
LGBT Stereotypes In The USA
LGBT CULTURE https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HYUf4XmCBOo Society has
created many stereotypes during the years, stating that marriage can only be accepted
if it is between women and men, however, there is a community that was created to
fight against these prejudices; this culture is called LGBT (lesbian, gay, bisexual, and
transgender). This culture was found during 1990 s here in the USA, to defend same
sex love and sexuality of ancient civilizations. A) Participants: Most of the people
that participate in this culture are lesbians, gay, bisexual or transgender, it could also
be joined by either female or male anyone, regardless their sexual orientationor gender
identity is able to participate in this culture, also, there s no necessarily

the menu. If you know where you will be eating beforehand, visit their website to get

It can be harder to get fruits during winter. Don t forget that high quality fruit and
vegetable juices and drinks, frozen, canned or dried fruits also count. Be careful
though when you buy fruit in sweetened syrup, as they usually have high sugar

peppers will fill you up and you will not feel hungry for the rest of the day. Eat red
pepper early in the day.

Analyzing BeyoncГ© s Song Say My Name
For BeyoncГ© s 34th B day, we, at Sound of Awesome, decided to offer you
nothing less than the official and final list of the ten best songs made by the
Queen. The ranking was a hot debate, although both halves of SoA agreed on the
number one spot pretty easily. Meanwhile, the list of honorable mentions could go
on and on .But ten songs? Only? Yes, we did it and here they are. 10. Love on Top
Album: 4 (2011) BeyoncГ© s fourth solo album did not benefit from the same
promotional roll out as most of her other LPs, in part due to Bey giving bert to her
little daughter Blue Ivy. Which is a shame, because 4 was one hell of a record. On

Many years later, it still remains her best one to date. Fierce, catchy, powerful and
sexy, the tune has set the tone of what was to expect of BeyoncГ© s solo career
from the get go and set the bar high for anyone wishing to reach her. With the help of
a 1970′s Chi Lites sample, this song is nothing short of a R B classic. How can
you not want to get up and shake that whole body when the opening horns kick in?
Jay s lighter might be what made the car burn in the video, but it is the whole song
that set fire to the music world. And 12 years later, it s still raging as high as
The Passionate Subject of Religious Liberty Essay
The concept of religious liberty is at the core of global attention in recent times in
the light of religious extremities in different aspects of national existence. The
subject of religious liberty is a particularly touchy and sensitive issue as it evokes
passion, devotion and unbridled allegiance amongst adherents of various religious
beliefs. Although an aspect of the broad concept of human liberties and equality, it is
a subject which commands special attention as religious tenets play a vital role in
defining certain liberties and equalities in various societies.
Gender inequality for instance is an integral part of certain religious beliefs which
subjugate females to less commanding roles subservient to men. Furthermore, sexual

For instance, the trend towards criminalization of homosexuality in most African
countries is predicated on the prohibition of such sexual orientation and practice by
Christianity and Islamic religions.
Regardless of which ideology a state adopts, a common issue which arises is the
protection of religious liberty of the people of the state. Religious liberty simply
means the freedom of citizens to practice their chosen religion without fear,
harassment, or suppression either by virtue of state policy or as a result of
religious intolerance by fellow citizens or groups. Religious intolerance is a
constant problem in most countries of the world today as adherents of various
religious beliefs attempt to suppress adherents of other religious under the
misguided belief of the superiority of their religious belief over others. Such
religious Nazism based on misguided claims to superiority of particular religions
have wreaked havoc in places such as the Balkans where genocide was committed
on religious basis and even the Hindu Islamic strife in India and Myanmar have deep
rooted religious colorations arising from religious intolerance by adherents of
different religious beliefs.
In non secular states, religious liberties of citizens are restricted and curtailed in
favour of the state religion adopted. In such states, the struggle for religious liberty is
a constant battle
Animal Slaughtering Is The Killing Of Animals
Animal slaughtering is the killing of animals; most of them domestic, and mainly for
the purpose of human consumption. Many different types of animal slaughtering
methods have been created such as; carbon dioxide, inert gas hypoxia, captive bolt
pistol, gunshot, exsanguination, and many other that are not regulated. Such varying
methods have evolved since the beginning of times, but with the increasing rates of
the human population a faster way of slaughtering needed to be created in order to
keep up. The question here is, have we, in our attempt to provide for the many,
forgotten about ethical ways to kill those that are gifting us with their life?
The problem we need to understand here is that many of these regulated methods are
not ethical and cause suffering to the dying animal. Whether it causes them pain and
distress even at low concentrations due to the carbon dioxide, broken bones due to
shackling, massive damage to the skull and a shockwave which stuns the brain due to
captive bolt pistol, or a slow and painful death if their sticking wound is inaccurately
placed this methods need to be either reevaluated or vanished. It is not fair for
animals to suffer and undergo horrible deaths just to satiate our hunger. When did
we start forgetting how to take care of that that give us life? When did we start
killing without mercy for the sake of our people? When did we forget to care for the
minority in order to benefit the majority?

Descriptive Essay About Mother

  • 1. Descriptive Essay About Mother Writing a descriptive essay about one's mother may seem like a straightforward task, but the challenge lies in capturing the essence of a person who holds such a significant and unique place in one's life. The difficulty arises not from a lack of material or personal experiences but rather from the overwhelming abundance of emotions and memories that flood the writer's mind. Attempting to encapsulate the multifaceted nature of a mother's personality, the warmth of her love, the nuances of her character, and the countless sacrifices she makes can be a daunting task. How does one distill the depth of a mother-child relationship into a few pages? Moreover, the struggle lies in striking a balance between providing concrete details that paint a vivid picture and avoiding clichГ©s that risk oversimplifying the complexity of the maternal bond. The emotional connection to the subject matter can be both a driving force and an obstacle. On one hand, it fuels the desire to convey the depth of appreciation and love. On the other, it may lead to a struggle with finding the right words to do justice to the unique qualities that make one's mother special. The challenge is not only to portray the external attributes but also to delve into the intangible aspects of the relationship — the unwavering support, the unspoken understanding, and the profound impact on one's life. As the writer grapples with selecting the most significant memories and characteristics to highlight, there's the risk of becoming overwhelmed by sentimentality. Striking a balance between expressing genuine emotions and maintaining a sense of objectivity becomes a tightrope walk. A successful essay on this topic requires not only eloquence but also introspection and a keen observational eye. In conclusion, crafting a descriptive essay about one's mother demands a delicate interplay of emotions, memories, and linguistic prowess. It involves navigating the intricate tapestry of a relationship that is deeply personal and universally relatable. However, with careful consideration and a thoughtful approach, the writer can succeed in capturing the essence of a mother's love and influence. The provinces of their empires stretched across vast swaths of the globe, and their dominion included a diverse variety of cultures and people. These nations were able to accomplish this because of certain advantages given to them by their cultures and value systems. The Roman and Mongolian armies used superior technology, combined with militaryand political stratagems, to conquer and rule extremely large, organized, and wealthy empires despite their incredibly heterogeneous cultures and systems of conduct. Both of these superior military forces exemplified similarities in strength, organization, and higher military strategies, but their differences concerning weapons, uniforms, and cultural values presented a stark contrast from each other and how they performed conquering and governing their empires. Then the clones that are of interest are isolated and tested to ensure they are the right clones. cDNA is then synthesized through reverse transcription by the reverse transcriptase enzyme which yields a complementary DNA from the RNA. The cDNA is incorporated into a vector to allow for manipulation. Screening is then done using cultures such as E.coli bacterial lawns. The cDNA is then tested to ascertain that it achieves the required objective. (A cDNA library comprises of sequences complementary to the mRNA.) When discussing important political matters, people have the tendency to not pay attention to the arguments of others, as they are only fixated on their own arguments. Democratic deliberation is not about which people are right and wrong, but rather getting people to gather together and discuss the issues that matter the most. It is during this active discussion amongst people that they start to learn about each other. Most of the time, it is a lack of knowledge that separate people from one another. Once, they start to understand each other, they can actively engage in creating policies that will benefit their society. In this deliberation, everyone has a voice and all opinions are held as equal, which give the policies created legitimacy, as everyone plays an active role. Without these ideals, respect would be lost and these deliberations would be diminished to shouting matches, which would benefit nobody. Skeptical of deliberative democracy, Rosenberg believes people do not think the way deliberative democrats assume. As explained, in an active deliberation people must practice reciprocity, publicity, and accountability, but Rosenberg believes actual deliberations are likely to stray from these standards. Although it is ambitious for deliberative democracy to ask for impartiality of one s own opinion, this simply is not true from a psychological standpoint. Rosenberg explains people judge each other, favor their own judgment, and devalue views that contradict their own. Using developmental

Of the franchised hotels (Table 1.A), two are DEA efficient, while one is relatively inefficient. The overall efficiency score of Hotel 16 is 0.878, which means it has only attained about 88% efficiency. This is a result of the lower pure technical efficiency score. Of the five internationally managed hotels (Table 1.B), numbers 12 and 15 are inefficient, with an overall efficiency score of 0.978 and 0.73, respectively. The overall inefficiency is mostly due to technical inefficiency. Among the 17 independent hotels (Table 1.C), 1, 9, 10, 13, 19, and 23 are members of several domestic chains holding multiple properties, with resources shared among properties. As outlined in the novel Winston reads in chapter 9 of book 2, Goldstein s purported manifesto, Orwell states that there are three socioeconomic classes the High, the Middle, and the Low that have been present in society forever. The Party s main philosophy is also outlined in The Theory and Practice of Oligarchical Collectivism. Ingsoc, or English Socialism, is a political theory that involves power. Unlike the previous governments of the time, Ingsoc and the Party s main goals are power. We know that no one ever seizes power with the intention of relinquishing it. Power is not a means, it is an end. One does not establish a dictatorship in order to safeguard a revolution; one makes the revolution in order to establish the dictatorship. Chaucer mentions her conscience twice within her portrait, but the word is never used in context of her clerical responsibilities, which Chaucer never mentions even though they should be one of her main priorities. The word is instead used to praise her on her courtly appearance. Chaucer s use of the word conscience as praise in The Prioress Portrait allows him to expose her shortcoming as a prioress without explicitly criticizing her. Religious intolerance is a constant problem in most countries of the world today as adherents of various religious beliefs attempt to suppress adherents of other religious under the misguided belief of the superiority of their religious belief over others. Such religious Nazism based on misguided claims to superiority of particular religions have wreaked havoc in places such as the Balkans where genocide was committed on religious basis and even the Hindu Islamic strife in India and Myanmar have deep rooted religious colorations arising from religious intolerance by adherents of different religious beliefs. In non secular states, religious liberties of citizens are restricted and curtailed in favour of the state religion adopted. In such states, the struggle for religious liberty is a constant battle

Whether it causes them pain and distress even at low concentrations due to the carbon dioxide, broken bones due to shackling, massive damage to the skull and a shockwave which stuns the brain due to captive bolt pistol, or a slow and painful death if their sticking wound is inaccurately placed this methods need to be either reevaluated or vanished. It is not fair for animals to suffer and undergo horrible deaths just to satiate our hunger. When did we start forgetting how to take care of that that give us life? When did we start killing without mercy for the sake of our people? When did we forget to care for the minority in order to benefit the majority? According to historian
