Difference Between Tyll And CALL
Students require a methodology different from the traditional lecture method in which the teacher is at
the center and dominates the session. Now learner centered and active participation is preferred to
traditional lecture method. The trend of learning language through computers allows this to the
students. This is what we call CALL (Computer Assisted Language Learning). This paper addresses
CALL and Text book Assisted Language Learning. I have taken this as TALL. In these two major
terms CALL and TALL, I ve taken the two major areas for comparison. They are i. Role of Teachers
ii. Developing LSRW skills
1. Role of Teachers: Though CALL is learner centered, we can t eliminate teachers. The role of
teacher in CALL is essential as much as in TALL. More over teacher of CALL should be well enough
with the resources to be used to anticipate technical problems and limitations.

There has been some success in using CALL, in particular computer mediated communication, to help
speaking skills closely linked to communicative competence (ability to engage in meaningful
conversation in the target language) and provide controlled interactive speaking practice outside the
classroom. Using chat has been shown to help students routinize certain often used expressions to
promote the development of automatic structure that helps to develop speaking skills. This is true even
if the chat is purely textual. The use of videoconferencing gives not only immediacy when
communicating with a real person but also visual cues, such as facial expressions, making such
communication more authentic. Call is a diversion to the students. They have to learn themselves,
without the help of their teacher. But their power of concentration

Children Are Playing With A Child
While children are playing, who will a child prefer to play with, will a child interact more with a child
who is the same gender, but a different age or with a child who is the same age, but different gender. I
will also see how much a child will interact with another child who is the opposite gender and a
different age. That is, the research question I am trying to solve. This is important to know because the
more comfortable the child is with the other child they are playing with, the happier the child will be
and the children will socialize longer. My hypothesis is that the opposite sex children that are around
the same age will interact more than the same sex, but different age or the opposite sex opposite aged
children. This is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This theory was also made by Jean Piaget. During the interaction time, some elements from the
concrete operational stage were presented as well. The older children had an organized and rational
way of thinking, something the younger children did not present. This being another theory from
Piaget. Living in Rockville, Indiana, there is only one park available called Beechwood Park. It s a
large park with a pool, baseball/softball fields, a picnic area, a basketball court, and of course a
playground. The playground consists of many monkey bars, swing sets, slides, and other things to
climb on, such as a dinosaur, a play house, and a fire truck. The dinosaur and play house are basic
monkey bar type structures, but the fire truck offers many things like a balance beam, steering wheels,
and extra benches to take a team of firemen. However, finding a day that had the amount of children
my research consisted of was difficult. Finding a day with a birthday party or celebration was my only
hope. On one sunny Saturday afternoon, I drove by and noticed a birthday party being set up, so I
decided to stop and explain to the parents why I was sitting on a bench watching their children. The
weather couldn t have been better and with the sound of country music playing in the background the
observation was pretty peaceful.

While sitting in the park, I sat on a bench, in the middle of the playground and the grass area. There

Descriptive Essay About My First Buck
My First Buck
It was a bitter cold November morning. November 15 to be exact. This is a very special day to my
family and I. We woke up early that morning to get ready for the exciting day ahead of us. We bundled
up in many layers of clothes and made some cofee for my Dad.
We then set off to the blind before the trophies come out. As I was walking to the blind I could see my
breath. As the sun set over the leafless trees, we began to start hearing some life throughout the woods.
Although the movement we have heard has not been the trophy we have been looking for it just keeps
my heart pumping. We have probably been in the blind for about 5 hours so we decided to go grab
something to eat from the truck when suddenly we heard heavy footsteps right behind our blind which
is where the door is. I creeked the door open and what I saw made my heart go a million miles a
second. 3 doe stood behind us creeping around. They seemed very sketchy so immediatly we closed
the door and waited for them to come around to the front of the blind. The day got so much better
knowing that there are deer in this area. Even though they were doe we still had the thought in our
mind that a trophy buck might just pass through here looking for a mate. We watched the deer walk
about 30 yards in front of us for about 20 miniutes but by that time i was ready for a buck to come
through here. It was hard to sit still in the blind because there is old about 5 feet of room in there and I
slighty moved my feet

Sebastian Bach During The Baroque Period
On November 13, 2015 Dr. David Earll of the University of Wisconsin Platteville faculty performed a
Tuba and Euphonium Recital. The program for the recital included various 20th century works and
their composers along with pieces from Antonio Capuzzi from the classical era and Sebastian Bach
during the Baroque Era, whom was discussed in class. Works that were played include: T. Rex for
Tuba and Piano by Mark Schultz, My Mountain Top for Tuba and Tape by Andy Scott, Double Bass
Concerto (adapted for Euphonium) by Antonio Capuzzi, Alarum by Edward Gregson, Silhouette for
Tuba and Piano by John Harmon, and Flute Sonata in Eb Major by Johann Sebastian Bach. My

John Lennon Essay examples
John Lennon
John Lennon was a great song writer and musician. He played the rhythm guitar, the piano, and sang.
He was in the most popular group in the history of rock music. In 1959, John founded this group,
called The Beatles.
The original Beatles were John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison, and Pete Best.
Brian Epstein became the manager of the Beatles in 1961. Epstein made many changes in the group.
John rebelled and did not want to quot;package quot; and
quot;clean up quot; the group in order to please fans. These changes were made anyway despite John s
protests.

Four weeks later, The Beatles held the top five music singles in America at the same time.
John was influenced by many things in 1965 1966 such as psychedelia, marijuana, and Bob Dylan.
Many felt that these years were the best song writing years of John Lennon s life.
1966 The Beatles had been touring for over four years, and they, especially John were tired of it. John
wanted to spend more time with his wife,
Cynthia, and his song, Julian. At one time, they had to do 32 concerts in 19 days. On their next album,
Beatles For Sale, the material reflected how unhappy
John and Paul were with life on the road. Songs like quot;I m a Loser quot; and quot;No
Reply quot; spoke of depression and the frenzy of life in the spotlight. John once said, quot;It s like we
re four freaks being wheeled out to be seen, shake our hair about, and get back into our cage
afterwards. quot;
The Beatles felt that they needed to work only in the studio now. So, on August 29, 1966, The Beatles
performed their last live performance ever at
Candlestick Park in San Francisco, California.
Almost a year later, Brian Epstein, the Beatles Manager was found dead in his apartment of a suicidal
overdose. This caused many problems for the group. John later admitted that quot; The Beatles were

Physician Assisted Suicide Is An Overly Powerful Thing
Physician assisted suicide is requesting a method of death from a doctor when one is terminally ill.
Being told that you have a small amount of time left to live is devastating, but technology eases pain
and allows people with terminal illnesses to live longer. Why wouldn t you want to spend more time
with your loved ones? It makes sense to want to spend those hard times with loved ones. It is more
than likely that they wish to have the unlucky terminally ill family member around and that they do
not mind being their caretakers. Furthermore, ending one s life is an extreme power that no human
should possess, even if the terminal illness means definite death. The act of requesting physician
assisted suicide requires a lot of thinking and regards a controversial subject. Being able to decide
when to die through physician assisted suicide is an overly powerful thing, faulty, and ultimately
unnecessary. The most common reason people support physician assisted suicide is empathy. Since
terminal illnesses are usually painful, people feel that they should have the right to stop the pain
immediately. In reality, current technology allows the pain to be eased and correctly trained physicians
should be able to make the pain as bearable as it can be. Better palliative care is what patients should
be asking for and receiving instead of an immediate ticket out of life. Supporters also believe that
physician assisted suicide allows for the patient to experience a well planned and

Their Eyes Were Watching God Women
In the past, women have been sentenced to a life of silence and obedience, but resilient in their efforts
to find equality. Once they saw how unequal they were to their male counterparts, they were so
unwavering in their attempts that everyone had no choice but to acknowledge women s mistreatment.
Janie Crawford, from Zora Hurston s Their Eyes were Watching God, is a prime example of how
women actively began to start seeing themselves as independent and changing the way society sees
them. Janie is brought up to view women and herself to be lesser than men but when she grows older
and is able to decide things for herself, she sees how unfair and wrong that is. It may take her a while
before she able able to fully free herself, but she knows ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As a whole, most of the female characters are shown to be cruel and obsessed with gossip. This
particular example is demonstrated early in the novel when Janie is first coming back to Eatonville
and the women chewed up the back parts of their minds and swallowed with relish. They made
burning statements with questions, and killing tools out of laughs (Hurston 2). This scene exposes the
bitter truth that women are quick to turn against each other every opportunity they get. It clearly
establishes the jealously and spite that fuel women to treat each other so awfully. There is an
unmistakable disconnection between the novel s protagonists and the other women for not only the
hatred they feel towards janie, but also their lack of independence and simplicity. The women in this
novel, including Janie, are not valued in society but Janie appears to the one of the few to try and
overcome barrier. Mary Helen Washington, in her contribution to Zora Neale Hurston s Their Eyes
were Watching God, supports the notion that these female characters are denied the right to participate
in society. On multiple occasions the women are confined and silence not only by their husbands, but
also by the world they are subjected to. She writes about how the women in the novel were never able
to talk, or at least be listened too. Janie was included in these women, but is soon able to find her
voice. While most of the female characters depicted in the novel are judgmental and one sided, they
also act as components to add to Janie s struggle for

Populist Vs Omaha
And Then There Were Sixteen The Omaha Platform of 1892 didn t immediately bring the results that
the Populists were looking for. However, it did eventually lead to some precisely notable changes in
the governmental practices America knows today. Take, for example, the Graduated Income Tax
demand made in the Omaha Platform. The Populists asked for a change in the way workers were
paying taxes, considering at that time, taxes were paid by the population of each state, not by how
much that population earned. Furthermore, the taxes were not managed by the federal government,
they were collected by the individual states. There was an obvious problem with this type of taxation
and the Populists demanded that the issue be solved. Unfortunately,

The Importance Of Being A Class President
Good afternoon class ladies and gentlemen, thank you for allowing me to have the privilege of
speaking in front of you today. About this time I m supposed to get up here and tell you a little short
story about myself, and start off like ever since I can remember, I have always wanted..... But instead I
m be different and start it off a little something like this. I have not always wanted to be your class
presentant, but what I have always wanted to do is say something that we all do not have the guts to
say. The reason I believe I am the right candidate for this class president because I too don t believe
that teachers and other staffs doesn t care about what we have to say or what we believe would be
right for us, see if when we are going over the syllabus and we all are asking questions we get the
response that we didn t want or hope for, If you vote for me I will have the desire to help make a
change, I will help with extracurricular activities, money, and fights will be the issues I plan on mainly

The Role In Inflating The Housing Bubble
Role in Inflating the Housing Bubble
The 2008 financial crisis was the most serve crisis seen since the Great Depression (Duca). There
were a number of factors that contributed to inflating the housing bubble, in which it collapsed under
its own weight (Duca).
The source that lead to inflation began in 2000, with the funding of subprime mortgages or mortgages
for individuals who had too low of credit and no down payment, with private label mortgage backed
securities (Duca). This was done because subprime mortgages are more risky, so these securities
would absorb that risk (Duca). The result of this process was that more individuals bought homes
(Duca). In competitive markets when more individuals qualified for a loan, the demand for housing

So, here s what you re looking for. A whole new breed of teaching, (or coaching) is hitting internet

So, what does it mean? It means that for the first time ever, you can now take a course on just about
any subject you can imagine. A course with a beginning and an end.
So what? Well, of the thousands of courses out there, most are membership sites which by their very
nature, don t have an end. They go on forever .
And since there is no beginning or end, you can t measure success or failure. (Except for the

Introduction This paper is a summary of research on scholarly articles by Michael Hammer, Ph.D. The
three articles are Reengineering at Net Speed , The New Business Agenda and Putting Six Sigma in
Perspective . Dr. Hammer earned his bachelors, masters and Ph.D. in computer science from
Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He was professor in the computer science department at MIT

Reengineering at Net Speed . The article focuses on the possibilities the internet will have on business
processes and how process reengineering is necessary in net age. Dr. Hammer argues that
reengineering is necessary with the internet because automating a mess yields an automated mess . He
argues that a poorly designed process in a traditional business environment will be a poor designed
process on the internet as well. He further states that processes will be need to implemented and
designed to support the internet model of business. The internet model of business has high customer

The Pursuit Of Happiness Movie Analysis

Life is a struggle for the single father Chris Gardner known as Will Smith. He and his young son
known as Jaden Christopher Syre Smith got evicted from their apartment with no place to go. The
Pursuit Of Happiness directed by Gabrielle Muccino. The Pursuit Of Happiness was released in 2006
and it is 117 minutes long. The genre of the movie is Biography and drama. The important theme in
this movie is about the American Dream. It is a very common dream that we all share. The dream is to
being successful and happy. To fulfill that dream in America you need to have courage and the
abilities to achieve your dream.
The Pursuit Of Happiness is based on a true story about a man called Chris Gardner. Chris Gardner is
a great example for somebody that wants to Pursuit his American Dream. The Pursuit Of Happiness is
about how Chris Gardner is willing to make sure he achieves his happiness. For living, Chris Gardner
is a salesman who sells bone density scanners. Eventually he figured out that nobody wanted to buy it
because it is a luxury device in the medical business. Sometime in the beginning of the movie, there is
a scene where we see Chris Gardner approaching and trying to talk to Mr.Twistle. We see a long shot
of them both which shows us that they both are dressed in suits, which means that they both might be
office workers. The long shot then drifts and became a mid shot. The director could have purposely
done that to show that Mr.Twistle is in a hurry and has no time to speak with Chris. Chris Gardner and
Mr.Twistle got in the same cab. While they are in the same taxi together, we see that Chris is talking to
Mr.Twistle but the close up of Mr.Twistle s face shows that he s not interested in what Chris is saying.
This is because Twistle is just playing with a Rubik s cube. We then see an over the shoulder shot
which shows that it could mean that Chris is desperately wanting to talk to Mr.Twistle. Mr.Twistle
then says to Chris I m sorry, this thing is impossible. The extreme close up of Chris s face shows that
he is determined to do whatever it takes to talk to Mr.Twistle . Again, in the taxi part of the scene we
are only really shown mid shots and close

LEGISLATIVE PROCESS Jill Golinski Ohio Univeristy Professional Nursing Practice 4510 Kristen
Morgan September 03, 2015 LEGISLATIVE PROCESS The United States government federal, state,
and local plays a significant role in developing and delivering health care policies. Today s issues
associated with health policy stem from individual health, the overall health of the country, and
economic problems associated with health care (Rosenbaum, 2011). Being a nurse it is important to
understand the legislative process, and how political health issues affect how we care for patients. The
purpose of this paper is to discuss the legislative process, and current political issues affecting health
care today. Part 1 Legislative Process The legislative process starts first with an idea. This idea might
be from the public, or from government officials. This idea is then turned into a bill, and introduced by
a representative to a committee for review. The bill is given a number and is referred to the
appropriate committee. If the committee decides the bill should go on further in the process then it
continues to a hearing to be voted on, debated or amended. At any point the bill can be killed, and is
no longer up for review. If the bill should pass it is then brought to the House or Senate for further
review. The bill must be voted by the simple majority (218 of 435) , and if this occurs it is moved onto
the Senate. In the Senate, the bill is assigned to another committee and,

The Application Of Genre Analysis And Phraseology
The application of genre analysis and phraseology has great potential to inform this kind of research
and practice, enabling us to receive a more thorough understanding of how language is used in a
particular context and/or in a particular genre. In this study, the textual analysis included inter rater
reliability analysis performed by two university instructors to code a portion of the texts. The analysis
reached a satisfactory level of agreement in the four internal sections in the main study. In addition,
the selection of multiword combinations to be included in the pedagogically useful list, apart from a
corpus based approach relying on frequency of occurrence of the lexical units, with instructors
insights come into play, and therefore the task is much facilitated. These procedures demonstrate a
thorough perspective on conducting textual analysis to receive in depth and specific information,
verify the outcomes, and ensure that the results of this study are accurate and reliable.
10.3.2 Pedagogical implications
As for novice writers and graduate students, knowledge concerning rhetorical organisation of texts as
well as their communicative purposes identified and phraseological patterns obtained from this study
can effectively improve novice writers and graduate students understanding on academic reading and
writing RAs in general. The insights into how RAs in applied linguistics, particularly those published

School Spirit in Schools
Who is to Blame? The lack of school spirit in schools is an increasing problem. The first group of
people I blame is the school itself and the second is the people at school. There s a ton of other things
that I could blame for the fact that there s no school spirit but these are just the ones that first came to
mind. The school is the problem for the lack of school spirit. For starters, Having to go to school 35
hours of the week is not fun. Plus, for those of us who have to get a job when we are able to thats not
fun either. So you figure 35 hours at school plus a part time job and you sleep. That hardly leaves any
time for us to relax. That s not even considering the fact that most of our teachers give homework. The
first couple of weeks, we re happy to be in school and we have school spirit then it slowly diminishes
until the end of the year because we re getting burnt out. Speaking of which, How do teachers expect
us to recharge if they give homework over break?Personally, I hate school. It s really stressful and I
don t exactly have the best time while I m at home. I have a very stressful life and school only makes
it worse. So the fact that we re don t get time to recharge and we get stressed out because of the
amount of stuff we have to do, makes it hard to have school spirit. The other thing I blame for the lack
of school spirit is the people at school, that includes teachers. Sometimes, you hate teachers or other
students and they just mess up your whole day,

The Dilemma of Successes and Failures Within Child Protective Services In May of 2013, eight year
old Gabriel Fernandez was failed by the Los Angeles County Department of Children and Family
Services. After multiple reports were filed and subsequently ignored, the eight year old was repeatedly
abused by his mother and her boyfriend, up until the day of his death (Karlamangla). Child Protective
Services is a government run agency that deals with reports of child abuse in the United States. A
majority of the time, CPS can be successful in taking a child out of a dangerous home. In some
instances, however, Child Protective Services can fail and leave the child in a dangerous home.
Likewise, CPS occasionally mistakenly removes children who are not in any danger in their safe
homes. In recent times, the role of CPS and their accomplishments has been challenged, because of an
increase in the amount of minors killed by the hands of their own guardians. If new laws were instilled
and the program became more strict, the general public may begin to have a positive opinion towards
it. Improvements in how CPS handles their cases could create an all around safer environment for
families and children. In the United States, each state has different laws concerning child welfare. The
California Department of Social Services also known as CDSS is responsible for overseeing the child

Economic and Political Strategies of China versus Japan...
China and Japan
From 1500 to 1800, China and Japan tried to politically and economically established their countries
in very different ways. Japan fought war after war for a century before they changed their ways. China
on the other hand slowly established a government and used education as a tool to be politically and
economically strong. Japan would later do the same.
China was one of the most politically and economically strong countries during 1500 1800. The state
was identified as family. It brought unity and integration. The political system was an expanded role of
Confucianism. From 1500 1800, China was the most highly commercialized non industrial society in

The Ming Ch ing was known as the perfected late imperial system. They had a stronger emperor,
better government finances and used Confucianism as an ideology. They had more academies to
prepare people for the civil service exams, more bookstores, publishing flourished, and literacy
outpaced population. Some of Chinas major markets were grain, salt, timber, iron, and cotton. Silk
was a major market that was spread all over the world.
China used education and political growth to establish themselves. They grew slowly and were on of
the strongest countries of their time. They were the strongest countries in international trade. They
would stop growing in the late 19th century due to lack of technology at that time.
Japan had two different eras s from 1500 to 1800. The Warring State s era was an all out war inside

Influences in Our Lives
Influences You can be influenced by anything, the television, your friends and your family. If you are
influenced by these factors negatively, the influences may push you to lead dangerous, life threatening
decisions. How far can the media, family, and friends push you? Media has had an increasingly
negative impact (Mokeyane 2); media affects the lives of us all negatively at some point. People are
being driven to eating disorders and others by copying the behaviors of the lifestyles being projected.
Teenagers are surrounded by all types of media; radios, television, magazines, and the internet. All this
media will produce images in our teenagers brains that they need to be perfect to be accepted in
society from ads with skinny supermodels. How did this unrealistic idea of the perfection of the ideal
body get framed... open a newspaper or magazine, switch on the television or radio. (Gupta 1). The
models and dieting ads from media drive some teens to eating disorders or the thought that perfection
is real. The apparent reason for our teenagers to this conclusion is media poisoning. Sizes of
supermodels and actresses often influence teenage girls (Mokeyane 2). It s known that the media
contributes to most of teenagers views and how they think of themselves. Marya Hornbacher was
influenced by the media at the age of five years old and developed a eating disorder that the age of

Unpredictable and Predictable Life Events
Health and Social Care
Unit 4 P3
Explain the influences of two predictable and two unpredictable major life events on the development
of an individual.
The two unpredictable life events I am going to focus on in Michael Jackson s life are his abuse and
divorce.
Abuse Bullying
As a young child Michael suffered abuse and enforcement to succeed by his father. Michael has said
that this has affected his physical development as there had been times when his father would come to
see him and he would be sick. This was just from the fear he had of his father hurting him if he did not
do well. Michael s dad used to sit in a chair with a belt, watching him and his brother s rehearsing.
This was to deter them from not doing it right and if ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It would have possibly damaged his self esteem as he may have questioned why he was unable to have
a loving relationship for a long period of time with anyone so far in his life. This would have led to
him feeling again even lower about himself. Michael would have been left with possible resentment
and been grieving and depressed for a while as he learnt to adapt to life without Lisa. Although they
divorced it may have had its positive sides to Michael s developments as he may have learnt to not
rush into such a serious relationship and also to be completely sure that the person he decides to marry
is really the person he wants to spend the rest of his life with.
Two predictable events that would have taken place in Michael s life are his successful music career
and him leaving home.
Music Career
Michael was predicted to be a success in the Music Industry from a very young age. His music career
practically took off at the age of five as he became the lead singer of The Jackson Five . As him and
his brothers were also under strict rehearsals and practice by their father Joe Jackson, it was seen
predictable that this band would go far and especially Michael. As he was so young, it was not hard to
guess that as Michael grew so his talent would also. This major life event which progressed as
Michael did shaped his whole life. As music was possibly the most important thing for Michael
throughout his whole life, he would have learnt a lot about

Examples Of Archetypes In Avatar
Avatar Archetypes Archetypes, what are they? Archetypes are recurrent symbols or motifs in
literature, art, or mythology. In the 2009 movie, Avatar, directed by James Cameron, several different
archetypes can be found that help move the plot along. Avatar begins with a man named Jake Sully,
who takes over his deceased brother s science mission on a faraway planet known as Pandora. On
Pandora, Jake is told to gain the natives , or the Na vi, trust in order to attempt to relocate the tribe.
This is necessary because the military wanted to collect a rare, valuable, mineral that lay beneath the
Na vi territory. The specific tribe the movie focuses on is the Omaticaya tribe, which includes the
characters seen in the movie. In order to gain their confidence, Jake was put into an avatar body which

journey, Jake meets a Na vi named Neytiri, whom is both his mentor and lover. She shows him the Na

from fulfilling the wishes of the military, because Jake wanted to defend and protect the Na vi along
with their land. In the end, Jake, along with the whole tribe, protected the land and the people in it
from the destructive humans. In the end, Jake was able to receive his wish, and was transferred into
his avatar body forever. Within the journey that the director of the movie created are several
archetypes that create depth to the plot. Archetypes create meanings on different levels and create

Suffering is centrepiece in Tim Winton s modern Australian classic, Cloudstreet. The novel depicts
characters who struggle to overcome their woes, with various approaches employed by characters so
that they can endure their pain. Winton glorifies the characters able to surpass their struggles through
reconciliation and love, describing them as whole and human beings who acknowledge that life is the
one thing constant in our existence; something to be grateful for. Those unable to completely conquer
their misery do not truly live although they may endure. These characters either are so focussed on

Winton s characters who possess tenacity are able to survive their periods of devastation. Haunted
with survivor s guilt and stripped of her faith and son, Oriel battles against the distress she has to

Oriel thinks about everything that s been taken from her over the years , she describes it as the longest

Fish s state after many years of looking for the answers . The Aussie Battler within Oriel prohibits her
from giving in to her woeful circumstances, ensuring that she lives through to happier times. Will and
determination is one of the methods through which Winton s characters can continue living in defiance
of their torment. Grief is most strongly thwarted by the power of reconciliation. Rather than fighting
against and antagonising flawed relationships that induce suffering, it is more desirable to forgive and
harbour no grudges; effectively bringing an end to the trauma. Fish s spiritual affliction is appeased
this way. Prior to Fish s transcendence, he was traumatised by the abundance of anguish within

techniques and philosophies. In broad terms, qualitative research is an approach that allows you to

Learning A Second Language Is Important Today
Learning a second language is important in America today. Just going to the grocery store there is
chatter of different languages being spoken. In any occupation it is beneficial to know a foreign
language to be better efficient on workforce tasks. Students go to school with peers who make up a
global classroom. Children have a natural curiosity and excitement to speak a foreign language and to
learn about new cultures. It challenges and helps develop the growing brain to be able to problem
solve more adequately. Elementary school students should learn a second language because it helps
them understand other cultures and become good critical thinkers, learn language skills, and gain
confidence with communication. Development of a child s brain is at its prime, and neuron growth
explodes in Elementary school into Middle school age. The abundance of the neurons will not last and
a child s brain has not seen this much growth since toddler years. With this brain growth, skills
become more automatic and specialized for the student. In early Elementary years as the brain matures
with fibers it is helping them form memories, and the connection of new learning to previous learning
is easier. Teaching a second language at this time is a great opportunity for the advantage of the brain,
which is ready to learn and structure the environment so the child can learn.
Children live in a global society, which helps them have a natural curiosity about the world, and how
it works. Learning

Analyze The Role Of Naturalization In America
World War I military draft cards are another resource that could assist you in determining time of
Naturalization and location. As can be seen in the example provided it is clearly noted that Myer was a
Naturalized citizen.
By 1825, the number of Jews was roughly 4500 in America, but the number of German Jews
immigrating was on a steady increase. Cincinnati, Ohio experienced a large growth of these people
and became a center for Reform Judaism in America. These Jews created communities in small towns
of the Midwest, West, and South. Though land was plentiful in the Ohio Valley, the Jews were
unaccustomed to the ways of farming and chose to settle in populated areas.
Jewish population growth in America exploded in 1880 through 1924 with close to two million Jews
coming from Russia, Poland, Austria Hungary, and Romania. After their arrival at Castle Garden (and
later Ellis Island), the immigrants often settled in some of the poorer neighborhoods of major cities ...

However, by 1817 New Brunswick began issuing naturalization certificates. In Upper Canada there
were no naturalization laws until roughly 1828. It was not until Canada gained its independence in
1867 that naturalization became a federal process. The provinces had jurisdiction over immigrants, but
the certificates were granted by the Secretary of State for Canada. Petitions for citizenship were
forwarded on to the Secretary of State from the local judicial courts. Unfortunately the Department of
the Secretary of State destroyed the records for the years 1854 to 1917. All that remains for those
years is the index which holds the name, residence and court where the certificate was sent.
Fortunately the records for the years after 1917 are much more detailed and helpful. A resident or
citizen of Canada can submit an Access to Information Request Form which is available at Canadian

Causes Of Soil In Africa
There are many reasons that the soil in Africa has seen decreased nutrients quality, ranging from
Africa s seasonal effect on soil, climate change and poor farming practices are all factors that
contribute to this phenomenon. Firstly, I will cover the natural reasons that Africa s soil tends to be
degraded as this is commonly debated to be the main reason for the soils degradation. Africa is unique
in that it has one of the strongest seasonal rain systems (very dry when rain isn t occurring but when it
does it rains heavily) in the world. This in and of itself can cause huge amounts of soil erosion so it
makes a lot of sense that much of Africa has poor soils. Furthermore, there was a study done by M E
Meadows that found According to the united nations, areas subject to desertification are so called
susceptible dry lands meaning they have an aridly index of .05 .65 she also discovered that around
91% of Africa could potentially classify as an affected dry land. Dry lands combined with highly
seasonal rains are major causes of erosion, which in turn causes soil to lose nutrients fast i.e.
desertification. These are not the only natural causes. Over the course of thousands of years the
continuous leeching of the nutrients in the soils has caused the soil to lose its quality. All of these
compounds because Africa s soils are relatively poor to start with the land forms and location of Africa
make it harder to regenerate its natural nutrition. It is getting to the point where some areas have
become so degraded that there is no easy fix for this problem. Later, I will cover what steps we can
take to alleviate some of these effects and hopefully reverse this problem, but for now Africa s soil is
continuing to steadily decline. It should be noted that there are some areas of Africa that are still
incredibly fertile. The problem lies in the fact that much of Africa is losing its arable land which will
present problems in the very near future.
Poor farming practices are also one of the leading causes of the desertification of sub Saharan Africa.
Much of Africa is still using practices which are quite harmful to the overall soil quality in Africa.
Most notably slash and burn techniques, this has especially

Two Different Types Of Driver Coasting On The Road
When you trying to get from one place to next you may only think about getting from point A to point
B. Unfortunately, not all drivers get there the same way. Also, not all drivers drive the same. You have
to be caution when driving because there are some harmful and dangerous drivers coasting on the
roads. You also have good driver coasting on the road as well. You may get to your next destination
depending on which category you fall into. These types are reckless, distracted and slow drivers. The
first type of drivers is reckless drivers they tend to be the most dangerous drivers. For instance, you
can be driving down the highway doing the speed limit and two cars race past you. We consider racing
as reckless driving. These drivers are ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Mainly it s the elderly people that drive very slow. Some might call it slow others might even call it
driving the speed limit. People are so use to driving over the speed limit that when you drive the speed
limit they think it s too slow. These people are the ones that follow the rules and think about the
outcome of things. People tend to ride closely trying to push the car as if they re in the wrong when in
all actuality, they re doing what s right.
In conclusion, you ve heard about these three totally different type of drivers. Firstly, we have the
reckless drivers, the ones who don t care about anyone but themselves. Then we have distracted
drivers, the ones that that let distraction take their eyes off the road. Finally, the slow drivers also
known as the normal drivers. These people do the right thing and drive the speed limit that is given.
With that being said, which category would you fall under: the reckless, distracted, or slow

Causes And Consequences Of Data Leakage
Data leakage involves loss of data which invariable leads to loss of knowledge. Knowledge is an
important asset for existence as it involves the seamless combination of experiences, specialist insight,
standards and plans (Ahmad, Bosua and Scheepers 2014). Thus data is indispensable for development,
preserve competitive edge and when it is lost can lead to several consequences. Consequences of data
leakage are considerably high since once data is lost it is difficult to regain it back and consequences
can last for a lifetime. Consequences of data leakage can be classified as direct or indirect loss
(Gordon 2007). Direct loss is easy to quantify and measure such as fines (Phua 2009). However
indirect loss is almost impossible to measure and have wider implications like negative publicity
(Shabtai, Yuval and Rokach 2012). This will probably lead to loss of revenue and business edge.
Indirect loss is one of the reasons for unreported data leakage incidents (Symantec 2014). In 2012,
72% of organisations that experience major data leakage incident closed within 24 months, 93% file
for bankruptcy within one year while 50% closed immediately (Gunnarsson 2014). Thus the
consequences of data leakage have serious implications as discussed in sub section 1.6. 1.6
IMPLICATION OF DATA LOSS Implication of data leakage is varied as data have different meaning
to different entities. The use of computer systems to store clients sensitive data has raised concern due

Brain Stimulation Research Summary
Article One
Okun (2012) utilized a systematic review of four samples to explore deep brain stimulation effects on
advanced Parkinson s patients quality of life, severity of motor symptoms, and the number of hours
per day spent in the on state without dyskinesia (Appendix D). Pertinent findings from the critical
appraisal of this article included: validity of the reviews utilized in the study, sample size,
measurement of variables, findings, and strengths and weaknesses.
The review employed four randomized, controlled clinical trials of deep brain stimulation that
occurred in Germany, Austria, United Kingdom, and the United States (Okun, 2012). It did not discuss
a detailed description of the search strategy that was used to find all the relevant studies in the review.
Participants were randomly assisted to one of two groups undergo bilateral deep brain stimulation or
to only receive medical therapy, which stood as the control group (Okun, 2012). In both the treatment
and control group, follow up appointments of the subjects occurred at three months, six months, and
one year (Okun, 2012). The Okun (2012) article ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Using four trials sanctioned for a pooled estimate on the effect of deep brain stimulation, which
assisted in the reduction of false negative results. It sanctioned for a more objective appraisal of the
evidence, by discerning the results of multiple studies. A factor that may have influenced the result
stands that three of the studies made comparisons with medical therapy, and one compared deep brain
stimulation with a no stimulation group (Okun, 2012). A weakness of this review stands that the
selection of the studies and data could have been biased. The researcher selected studies to construct a
review from, but did not state how the reviews were validated or why they were selected for this

Euthyphro s Definition Of Piety
According to Dr. Youngs lecture, piety is a term that refers to what it means to be good or holy in the
eyes of the gods. Within Plato s Euthyphro dialogue, Socrates is looking for a definition of piety in
order to better develop his knowledge as a philosopher. Euthyphro tries to give Socrates several
definitions of piety. Euthyphro gives five different definitions of piety, all of which I feel were all
subpar definitions. I will argue that Euthyphro does not give Socrates a satisfactory definition of piety.
I will argue this by pointing out several instances in the text in which Socrates disputes Euthyphro s
definitions and why I think he disputes them.
The first definition of piety Euthyphro gave Socrates was not even a true definition, ... Show more

Socrates said, ...where there is piety there is also justice, but where there is justice there is not always
piety, for the pious is a part of justice. Shall we say that, or do you think otherwise? (Socrates, 15).
Euthyphro agrees and then suggests that piety is simply taking care of the gods: I think, Socrates, that
the godly and pious is the part of the just that is concerned with the care of the gods, while that
concerned with the care of men is the remaining part of justice (Euthyphro, 16). Socrates quickly
rejects this on the basis that taking care of the Gods would be concerned with making the Gods better .
Socrates uses the example of caring for animals to illustrate his point. He said, So dogs are benefitted
by dog breeding, cattle by cattle raising, and so with all the others. Or do you think that care aims to
harm the object of its care? (Socrates, 17). Euthyphro objects and says that these acts aim to benefit
these animals. So Socrates says, Is piety then, which is the care of the gods, also to benefit the gods
and make them better? Would you agree that when you do something pious you make some of the
gods better? (Socrates, 17). Euthyphro claims that caring for the gods involves the kind of care that
slaves take of their masters (Euthyphro, 17). When questioned by Socrates as to exactly what is the
definition of piety using this logic, Euthyphro can only return back to his earlier claim: piety is what is
loved by all the gods. I say that is a man knows how to say and do what is pleasing to the gods at
prayer and sacrifice, those are pious actions such as preserve both private houses and public affairs of
state. The opposite of these pleasing actions are impious and overturn and destroy everything

  • 2. Difference Between Tyll And CALL Students require a methodology different from the traditional lecture method in which the teacher is at the center and dominates the session. Now learner centered and active participation is preferred to traditional lecture method. The trend of learning language through computers allows this to the students. This is what we call CALL (Computer Assisted Language Learning). This paper addresses CALL and Text book Assisted Language Learning. I have taken this as TALL. In these two major terms CALL and TALL, I ve taken the two major areas for comparison. They are i. Role of Teachers ii. Developing LSRW skills 1. Role of Teachers: Though CALL is learner centered, we can t eliminate teachers. The role of teacher in CALL is essential as much as in TALL. More over teacher of CALL should be well enough with the resources to be used to anticipate technical problems and limitations. S.No TALL CALL 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6. 7. Focus is on the teacher ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... There has been some success in using CALL, in particular computer mediated communication, to help speaking skills closely linked to communicative competence (ability to engage in meaningful conversation in the target language) and provide controlled interactive speaking practice outside the classroom. Using chat has been shown to help students routinize certain often used expressions to promote the development of automatic structure that helps to develop speaking skills. This is true even if the chat is purely textual. The use of videoconferencing gives not only immediacy when communicating with a real person but also visual cues, such as facial expressions, making such communication more authentic. Call is a diversion to the students. They have to learn themselves, without the help of their teacher. But their power of concentration ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Children Are Playing With A Child While children are playing, who will a child prefer to play with, will a child interact more with a child who is the same gender, but a different age or with a child who is the same age, but different gender. I will also see how much a child will interact with another child who is the opposite gender and a different age. That is, the research question I am trying to solve. This is important to know because the more comfortable the child is with the other child they are playing with, the happier the child will be and the children will socialize longer. My hypothesis is that the opposite sex children that are around the same age will interact more than the same sex, but different age or the opposite sex opposite aged children. This is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This theory was also made by Jean Piaget. During the interaction time, some elements from the concrete operational stage were presented as well. The older children had an organized and rational way of thinking, something the younger children did not present. This being another theory from Piaget. Living in Rockville, Indiana, there is only one park available called Beechwood Park. It s a large park with a pool, baseball/softball fields, a picnic area, a basketball court, and of course a playground. The playground consists of many monkey bars, swing sets, slides, and other things to climb on, such as a dinosaur, a play house, and a fire truck. The dinosaur and play house are basic monkey bar type structures, but the fire truck offers many things like a balance beam, steering wheels, and extra benches to take a team of firemen. However, finding a day that had the amount of children my research consisted of was difficult. Finding a day with a birthday party or celebration was my only hope. On one sunny Saturday afternoon, I drove by and noticed a birthday party being set up, so I decided to stop and explain to the parents why I was sitting on a bench watching their children. The weather couldn t have been better and with the sound of country music playing in the background the observation was pretty peaceful. Method While sitting in the park, I sat on a bench, in the middle of the playground and the grass area. There was just enough room ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Descriptive Essay About My First Buck My First Buck It was a bitter cold November morning. November 15 to be exact. This is a very special day to my family and I. We woke up early that morning to get ready for the exciting day ahead of us. We bundled up in many layers of clothes and made some cofee for my Dad. We then set off to the blind before the trophies come out. As I was walking to the blind I could see my breath. As the sun set over the leafless trees, we began to start hearing some life throughout the woods. Although the movement we have heard has not been the trophy we have been looking for it just keeps my heart pumping. We have probably been in the blind for about 5 hours so we decided to go grab something to eat from the truck when suddenly we heard heavy footsteps right behind our blind which is where the door is. I creeked the door open and what I saw made my heart go a million miles a second. 3 doe stood behind us creeping around. They seemed very sketchy so immediatly we closed the door and waited for them to come around to the front of the blind. The day got so much better knowing that there are deer in this area. Even though they were doe we still had the thought in our mind that a trophy buck might just pass through here looking for a mate. We watched the deer walk about 30 yards in front of us for about 20 miniutes but by that time i was ready for a buck to come through here. It was hard to sit still in the blind because there is old about 5 feet of room in there and I slighty moved my feet ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

He was in the most popular group in the history of rock music. In 1959, John founded this group, called The Beatles. The original Beatles were John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison, and Pete Best. Brian Epstein became the manager of the Beatles in 1961. Epstein made many changes in the group. John was influenced by many things in 1965 1966 such as psychedelia, marijuana, and Bob Dylan. Many felt that these years were the best song writing years of John Lennon s life. 1966 The Beatles had been touring for over four years, and they, especially John were tired of it. John wanted to spend more time with his wife, Cynthia, and his song, Julian. At one time, they had to do 32 concerts in 19 days. On their next album, Beatles For Sale, the material reflected how unhappy John and Paul were with life on the road. Songs like quot;I m a Loser quot; and quot;No Reply quot; spoke of depression and the frenzy of life in the spotlight. John once said, quot;It s like we re four freaks being wheeled out to be seen, shake our hair about, and get back into our cage afterwards. quot; The Beatles felt that they needed to work only in the studio now. So, on August 29, 1966, The Beatles performed their last live performance ever at Candlestick Park in San Francisco, California. Almost a year later, Brian Epstein, the Beatles Manager was found dead in his apartment of a suicidal overdose. This caused many problems for the group. • 7. Physician Assisted Suicide Is An Overly Powerful Thing Physician assisted suicide is requesting a method of death from a doctor when one is terminally ill. Being told that you have a small amount of time left to live is devastating, but technology eases pain and allows people with terminal illnesses to live longer. Why wouldn t you want to spend more time with your loved ones? It makes sense to want to spend those hard times with loved ones. It is more than likely that they wish to have the unlucky terminally ill family member around and that they do not mind being their caretakers. Furthermore, ending one s life is an extreme power that no human should possess, even if the terminal illness means definite death. The act of requesting physician assisted suicide requires a lot of thinking and regards a controversial subject. Being able to decide when to die through physician assisted suicide is an overly powerful thing, faulty, and ultimately unnecessary. The most common reason people support physician assisted suicide is empathy. Since terminal illnesses are usually painful, people feel that they should have the right to stop the pain immediately. In reality, current technology allows the pain to be eased and correctly trained physicians should be able to make the pain as bearable as it can be. Better palliative care is what patients should be asking for and receiving instead of an immediate ticket out of life. Supporters also believe that physician assisted suicide allows for the patient to experience a well planned and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. Their Eyes Were Watching God Women In the past, women have been sentenced to a life of silence and obedience, but resilient in their efforts to find equality. Once they saw how unequal they were to their male counterparts, they were so unwavering in their attempts that everyone had no choice but to acknowledge women s mistreatment. Janie Crawford, from Zora Hurston s Their Eyes were Watching God, is a prime example of how women actively began to start seeing themselves as independent and changing the way society sees them. Janie is brought up to view women and herself to be lesser than men but when she grows older and is able to decide things for herself, she sees how unfair and wrong that is. It may take her a while before she able able to fully free herself, but she knows ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As a whole, most of the female characters are shown to be cruel and obsessed with gossip. This particular example is demonstrated early in the novel when Janie is first coming back to Eatonville and the women chewed up the back parts of their minds and swallowed with relish. They made burning statements with questions, and killing tools out of laughs (Hurston 2). This scene exposes the bitter truth that women are quick to turn against each other every opportunity they get. It clearly establishes the jealously and spite that fuel women to treat each other so awfully. There is an unmistakable disconnection between the novel s protagonists and the other women for not only the hatred they feel towards janie, but also their lack of independence and simplicity. The women in this novel, including Janie, are not valued in society but Janie appears to the one of the few to try and overcome barrier. Mary Helen Washington, in her contribution to Zora Neale Hurston s Their Eyes were Watching God, supports the notion that these female characters are denied the right to participate in society. On multiple occasions the women are confined and silence not only by their husbands, but also by the world they are subjected to. She writes about how the women in the novel were never able to talk, or at least be listened too. Janie was included in these women, but is soon able to find her voice. While most of the female characters depicted in the novel are judgmental and one sided, they also act as components to add to Janie s struggle for ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

However, it did eventually lead to some precisely notable changes in the governmental practices America knows today. Take, for example, the Graduated Income Tax demand made in the Omaha Platform. The Populists asked for a change in the way workers were paying taxes, considering at that time, taxes were paid by the population of each state, not by how much that population earned. Furthermore, the taxes were not managed by the federal government, they were collected by the individual states. There were a number of factors that contributed to inflating the housing bubble, in which it collapsed under its own weight (Duca). The source that lead to inflation began in 2000, with the funding of subprime mortgages or mortgages for individuals who had too low of credit and no down payment, with private label mortgage backed securities (Duca). This was done because subprime mortgages are more risky, so these securities would absorb that risk (Duca). The result of this process was that more individuals bought homes (Duca). He and his young son known as Jaden Christopher Syre Smith got evicted from their apartment with no place to go. The Pursuit Of Happiness directed by Gabrielle Muccino. The Pursuit Of Happiness was released in 2006 and it is 117 minutes long. The genre of the movie is Biography and drama. The important theme in this movie is about the American Dream. It is a very common dream that we all share. The dream is to being successful and happy. To fulfill that dream in America you need to have courage and the abilities to achieve your dream. Eventually he figured out that nobody wanted to buy it because it is a luxury device in the medical business. Sometime in the beginning of the movie, there is a scene where we see Chris Gardner approaching and trying to talk to Mr.Twistle. We see a long shot of them both which shows us that they both are dressed in suits, which means that they both might be office workers. The long shot then drifts and became a mid shot. The director could have purposely done that to show that Mr.Twistle is in a hurry and has no time to speak with Chris. Chris Gardner and Mr.Twistle got in the same cab. While they are in the same taxi together, we see that Chris is talking to Mr.Twistle but the close up of Mr.Twistle s face shows that he s not interested in what Chris is saying. This is because Twistle is just playing with a Rubik s cube. We then see an over the shoulder shot which shows that it could mean that Chris is desperately wanting to talk to Mr.Twistle. LEGISLATIVE PROCESS Jill Golinski Ohio Univeristy Professional Nursing Practice 4510 Kristen Morgan September 03, 2015 LEGISLATIVE PROCESS The United States government federal, state, and local plays a significant role in developing and delivering health care policies. Today s issues associated with health policy stem from individual health, the overall health of the country, and economic problems associated with health care (Rosenbaum, 2011). Being a nurse it is important to understand the legislative process, and how political health issues affect how we care for patients. The purpose of this paper is to discuss the legislative process, and current political issues affecting health care today. Part 1 Legislative Process The legislative process starts first with an idea. This idea might be from the public, or from government officials. This idea is then turned into a bill, and introduced by a representative to a committee for review. The bill is given a number and is referred to the appropriate committee. If the committee decides the bill should go on further in the process then it continues to a hearing to be voted on, debated or amended. At any point the bill can be killed, and is no longer up for review. If the bill should pass it is then brought to the House or Senate for further review. The bill must be voted by the simple majority (218 of 435) , and if this occurs it is moved onto the Senate. In the Senate, the bill is assigned to another committee and, ... The Application Of Genre Analysis And Phraseology The application of genre analysis and phraseology has great potential to inform this kind of research and practice, enabling us to receive a more thorough understanding of how language is used in a particular context and/or in a particular genre. In this study, the textual analysis included inter rater reliability analysis performed by two university instructors to code a portion of the texts. The analysis reached a satisfactory level of agreement in the four internal sections in the main study. In addition, the selection of multiword combinations to be included in the pedagogically useful list, apart from a corpus based approach relying on frequency of occurrence of the lexical units, with instructors insights come into play, and therefore the task is much facilitated. These procedures demonstrate a thorough perspective on conducting textual analysis to receive in depth and specific information, verify the outcomes, and ensure that the results of this study are accurate and reliable. 10.3.2 Pedagogical implications As for novice writers and graduate students, knowledge concerning rhetorical organisation of texts as well as their communicative purposes identified and phraseological patterns obtained from this study can effectively improve novice writers and graduate students understanding on academic reading and writing RAs in general. • 18. School Spirit in Schools Who is to Blame? The lack of school spirit in schools is an increasing problem. The first group of people I blame is the school itself and the second is the people at school. There s a ton of other things that I could blame for the fact that there s no school spirit but these are just the ones that first came to mind. The school is the problem for the lack of school spirit. For starters, Having to go to school 35 hours of the week is not fun. Plus, for those of us who have to get a job when we are able to thats not fun either. So you figure 35 hours at school plus a part time job and you sleep. That hardly leaves any time for us to relax. That s not even considering the fact that most of our teachers give homework. The first couple of weeks, we re happy to be in school and we have school spirit then it slowly diminishes until the end of the year because we re getting burnt out. Speaking of which, How do teachers expect us to recharge if they give homework over break?Personally, I hate school. It s really stressful and I don t exactly have the best time while I m at home. I have a very stressful life and school only makes it worse. So the fact that we re don t get time to recharge and we get stressed out because of the amount of stuff we have to do, makes it hard to have school spirit. The other thing I blame for the lack of school spirit is the people at school, that includes teachers. Sometimes, you hate teachers or other students and they just mess up your whole day, ... February 11, 2015 The Dilemma of Successes and Failures Within Child Protective Services In May of 2013, eight year old Gabriel Fernandez was failed by the Los Angeles County Department of Children and Family Services. After multiple reports were filed and subsequently ignored, the eight year old was repeatedly abused by his mother and her boyfriend, up until the day of his death (Karlamangla). Child Protective Services is a government run agency that deals with reports of child abuse in the United States. A majority of the time, CPS can be successful in taking a child out of a dangerous home. In some instances, however, Child Protective Services can fail and leave the child in a dangerous home. Likewise, CPS occasionally mistakenly removes children who are not in any danger in their safe homes. In recent times, the role of CPS and their accomplishments has been challenged, because of an increase in the amount of minors killed by the hands of their own guardians. If new laws were instilled and the program became more strict, the general public may begin to have a positive opinion towards it. Improvements in how CPS handles their cases could create an all around safer environment for families and children. In the United States, each state has different laws concerning child welfare. • 30. Causes Of Soil In Africa There are many reasons that the soil in Africa has seen decreased nutrients quality, ranging from Africa s seasonal effect on soil, climate change and poor farming practices are all factors that contribute to this phenomenon. Firstly, I will cover the natural reasons that Africa s soil tends to be degraded as this is commonly debated to be the main reason for the soils degradation. Africa is unique in that it has one of the strongest seasonal rain systems (very dry when rain isn t occurring but when it does it rains heavily) in the world. This in and of itself can cause huge amounts of soil erosion so it makes a lot of sense that much of Africa has poor soils. Furthermore, there was a study done by M E Meadows that found According to the united nations, areas subject to desertification are so called susceptible dry lands meaning they have an aridly index of .05 .65 she also discovered that around 91% of Africa could potentially classify as an affected dry land. Dry lands combined with highly seasonal rains are major causes of erosion, which in turn causes soil to lose nutrients fast i.e. desertification. These are not the only natural causes. Over the course of thousands of years the continuous leeching of the nutrients in the soils has caused the soil to lose its quality. All of these compounds because Africa s soils are relatively poor to start with the land forms and location of Africa make it harder to regenerate its natural nutrition. It is getting to the point where some areas have become so degraded that there is no easy fix for this problem. Later, I will cover what steps we can take to alleviate some of these effects and hopefully reverse this problem, but for now Africa s soil is continuing to steadily decline. It should be noted that there are some areas of Africa that are still incredibly fertile. The problem lies in the fact that much of Africa is losing its arable land which will present problems in the very near future. Poor farming practices are also one of the leading causes of the desertification of sub Saharan Africa. Much of Africa is still using practices which are quite harmful to the overall soil quality in Africa. Most notably slash and burn techniques, this has especially ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 32. Causes And Consequences Of Data Leakage Data leakage involves loss of data which invariable leads to loss of knowledge. Knowledge is an important asset for existence as it involves the seamless combination of experiences, specialist insight, standards and plans (Ahmad, Bosua and Scheepers 2014). Thus data is indispensable for development, preserve competitive edge and when it is lost can lead to several consequences. Consequences of data leakage are considerably high since once data is lost it is difficult to regain it back and consequences can last for a lifetime. Consequences of data leakage can be classified as direct or indirect loss (Gordon 2007). Direct loss is easy to quantify and measure such as fines (Phua 2009). However indirect loss is almost impossible to measure and have wider implications like negative publicity (Shabtai, Yuval and Rokach 2012). This will probably lead to loss of revenue and business edge. Indirect loss is one of the reasons for unreported data leakage incidents (Symantec 2014). In 2012, 72% of organisations that experience major data leakage incident closed within 24 months, 93% file for bankruptcy within one year while 50% closed immediately (Gunnarsson 2014). • 34. Euthyphro s Definition Of Piety According to Dr. Youngs lecture, piety is a term that refers to what it means to be good or holy in the eyes of the gods. Within Plato s Euthyphro dialogue, Socrates is looking for a definition of piety in order to better develop his knowledge as a philosopher. Euthyphro tries to give Socrates several definitions of piety. Euthyphro gives five different definitions of piety, all of which I feel were all subpar definitions. I will argue that Euthyphro does not give Socrates a satisfactory definition of piety. I will argue this by pointing out several instances in the text in which Socrates disputes Euthyphro s definitions and why I think he disputes them. Socrates said, ...where there is piety there is also justice, but where there is justice there is not always piety, for the pious is a part of justice. Shall we say that, or do you think otherwise? (Socrates, 15). Euthyphro agrees and then suggests that piety is simply taking care of the gods: I think, Socrates, that the godly and pious is the part of the just that is concerned with the care of the gods, while that concerned with the care of men is the remaining part of justice (Euthyphro, 16). Socrates quickly rejects this on the basis that taking care of the Gods would be concerned with making the Gods better . Socrates uses the example of caring for animals to illustrate his point. He said, So dogs are benefitted by dog breeding, cattle by cattle raising, and so with all the others. Or do you think that care aims to harm the object of its care? (Socrates, 17). Euthyphro objects and says that these acts aim to benefit these animals. So Socrates says, Is piety then, which is the care of the gods, also to benefit the gods and make them better? Would you agree that when you do something pious you make some of the gods better? (Socrates, 17). Euthyphro claims that caring for the gods involves the kind of care that slaves take of their masters (Euthyphro, 17). When questioned by Socrates as to exactly what is the definition of piety using this logic, Euthyphro can only return back to his earlier claim: piety is what is loved by all the gods. I say that is a man knows how to say and do what is pleasing to the gods at prayer and sacrifice, those are pious actions such as preserve both private houses and public affairs of state.
