Difference Between Market Economy And Mixed Economy
In order for a country to run, it needs to sustain a stable economy. A country can choose one of the
three economies; Market economy, Planned economy, and Mixed economy. Market economy is
primarily based on supply and demand and is described as a shift right on the economic spectrum.
As well, resources are privately owned by businesses rather than the government. Market economy
is primarily controlled by the consumers who drive the economic decision making with little
government involvement. Words such as Individualism and Capitalism can be used to describe
Market Economy. However, no country can ever be a 100% market economy even though countries
such as The United States of America are extremely far right on the economic spectrum. Planned
Economyis primarily controlled and managed by the government with little intervention from the
consumers and is described as a shift left on the economic spectrum. Also, in a planned economy,
the government makes decisions regarding scarcity and also finds solutions on how to terminate it
by varying the production, distribution, and consumption of products. Collectivism can also be
used to describe Planned Economies. However, similarly to market economies, no country can ever
be 100% Planned Economy even though countries such as North Korea fall extremely far left on
the economic spectrum. A mixture of both these economies would be described as a mixed
economy and it would be placed centrally on the economic spectrum. Resources are

Japanese Internment Camps In Canada
The Internment of Japanese and Italian Canadians Canada is presently known for welcoming many
racial groups into the country. However, the Canadian government is not always giving out warm
welcomes to different ethnicities. During World War Two, the country rejects many Japanese and
Italians who are already Canadian. The treatment of the Japanese and Italians in the Second World
War is very unjust. The two groups face being put into internmentcamps against their own will, the
government separates families and force men to work on farms with little pay. The government of
Canada also mistreat the Japanese and Italian Canadians because they are full of fear and
superstition.

They work in farms to fill labor shortages, are packed into small trains and sent to internment
camps. Most Italians work in the trades sector but are forced to work in farms. In 1942, V.G.
McGulgan, president of the Kent County Federation of Agriculture suggested that, Italian war
prisoners and Canadian Japanese be employed in farm labor camps as means of filling the acute
labor shortage. This shows that the Japanese and Italians were sent to internment camps to work in
farms to fill in labor shortages. Sending them to work in camps to satisfy employment deficiency is
unjust considering that the Japanese and Italian Canadian have to work all day with a small amount
of pay.
Subsequently, to get to the camps, families were packed into small trains where they had to ride
on for hours to get to their destination. Men and women were separated once they reached their
camps. Most men stayed at Camp Petawawa and Camp Ripples, whereas, women stayed at the
Kingston Penitentiary. The men and women were separated from their loved ones as a punishment
and for the different types of labor each gender may have had. Being divided from their own
families may have been a traumatizing experience as they would not know the next time they will

The Five Methods Of Capital Punishment
The death penalty was fundamentally thought of for the benefit of society. The objective of
Capital Punishment or Death penalty is to stop people from committing violent and offensive
acts. The death penalty or capital punishment has however flopped in any case , to avoid or
discourage crime. At present there are five methods of execution. The most commonly used form
of execution is by lethal injection. In this method the convict is first injected with sodium
thiopental, which puts the person to sleep, then he/she is injected with Pavulon, which finally
kills him. [1] The next most common method of execution used is electrocution in which the
person is tied with leather straps to a chair and electric current of two thousand or more volts is
passed through the body. The initial shock of the electricity causes the person s body to surge
forward. The shock burns the internal organs of the person, which leaves them dead. During this
process urination, vomiting of blood, change in skin color, and even swelling or burning of the
skin may occur. This method of execution is currently used by only eleven states. The third
method is gas chamber execution in which hydrochloric acid and potassium is used to kill the
convict. One of oldest methods of executions is hanging and last method is by shooting. All the
five methods are inhumane and cruel. The convict dies within a few seconds. He never gets the
time to realize his mistake, repent over it or to correct it. Killing that person

Happy County Community College
Happy County Community College was established in 1968. According to The American
Community College book (2014), Cohen, Brawer, and Kisker proposed that community colleges
were established to train individuals to operate the nation s expanding industries. However, most
community colleges have evolved with the time and new demands from industries (Cohen, Brawer,
Kisker, 2014). HCCC seemed to be stuck in time the twentieth century. At HCCC, facilities were
dilapidated, equipment was old, and programs were ineffective (Staat, n.d.). Additionally, Happy
County was a thriving and prosperous county, people worked in textilemills. There were ten textile
mills in the surrounding areas of Happy County. The textile mill owners built baseball diamonds, a
football field, golf courses, and a civic center. Individuals who worked for the textiles mills were
considered middle class families and parents encouraged their children to become employed at the
textile mills once they graduated from high school.

A Community College Case Study Happy County once was a thriving county, because of their
many textile mills. However, in 2009, Happy County became economically destitute. For instance,
all but one mill closed down and many people lost their jobs. Some employees took bonuses
packages, but the job was gone (Staat, n.d.). Prior to the mills closing down, parents often time

Water Is The Greatest Basic Natural Resources
Water is the greatest basic natural resource. For plants and animals alike, water is vital for life,
making up as much as 65% of the human body (90% of an infant s body). It also provide habitat
for fish and animals, refuge, food, navigation, electricity and mechanical power, as well as coolant,
a waste stream, and prospects for recreation. No body of water, however, can support all of these
different usages without suffering some degree of disturbance: under poor management,
disturbance may result from even one primary use. (Perry Vanderklein, 1996). In Canberra, the

Eutrophication is defined as the natural ageing process of natural body of water, generally
understood to refer to enrichment of water systems by nutrients, notably phosphorus and nitrogen,
and to the improved production of algal and higher plant biomass that the added nutrient loads
stimulate (Reynolds, 1992). Customarily, the eutrophication is a natural phenomenon, but during
the past decades, the word eutrophication has been frequently used to signify the artificial and
unwanted addition of plant nutrients to waterbodies (Ryding Rast, 1989). Eutrophication is a
process whereby water bodies, such as lakes, estuaries, or slow moving streams receive extra
nutrients that stimulate unnecessary plant growth (periphyton attached algae, algae, and nuisance
plants weeds). This boosted plant growth, regularly called an algal bloom, reduces dissolved
oxygen in the water when dead plant material decays and can frequently cause other water biota
(fish in particular) to perish. Nutrients can come from many sources, such as: fertilizers applied to
agricultural fields, suburban lawns, and deposition of nitrogen from the atmosphere, erosion of soil
containing nutrients and sewage treatment plant discharges. In the simplest definition,
Eutrophication is the decreasing of the water quality within a body of water (Henry, 1993).
Accelerated eutrophication of water ecosystems, as a direct

The Pledge Should Be Allowed In The United States
The argument of being made to stand and say the pledge has become a hot topic. People believe
that the portion of Under God is unconstitutional and should be taken out. However there are also
people who believe that everyone should say the pledge to their country. There is deep and rich
history on the pledge itself. The pledge should still be said in public schools to keep a sense of
patriotism in the country. First off the history of the pledge started about 120 years ago. The
pledge was invented for the 400 year anniversary of Columbus discovering America. According to
Freedom of Religion Foundation, Seeking ideas to commemorate the 400th anniversary of the
discovery of America on Columbus Day, 1892, President Benjamin Harrison had initiated a call for
the development of a special patriotic school program to highlight the event. Bellamy and Upham
were able to line up the National Education Association to support Youth s Companion as a sponsor
of the observance, and arranged for President Harrison and Congress to announce a national
proclamation which centered around an American flag ceremony and (then... Show more content on

The pledge is still said today to instill a sense of nation pride. People who believe the pledge
should still be said and there should not be any controversy at all claim that if an American citizen
is in America they should take pride in their country and say the pledge. According to Teach nology
the main reason that the pledge of allegiance is said in schools is to instill a sense of patriotism
amongst students. Some believe that it shouldn t be controversial at all because it the process is
just what it is described as: a pledge. It is certainly far from being an oath which can bind a

Parallel Prefix Adder ( Ppa )
Abstract:
Parallel Prefix Adder (PPA) is one of the fastest types of adder that had been created and developed.
Some of the common types of parallel prefix adders are Brent Kung, Kogge Stone, Han Carlson
and Ladner Fischer adders. This paper involves an investigation of the performances of these adders
in terms of computational delay, interconnect usage and power. The investigation and comparison
for all these adders was conducted for 8 bit size. By using the XILINX 14.5 design software, the
designs for above mentioned adders were developed. The simulation result produced the vector
waveform which then shows the computational delay; interconnect usage and power for the adders.
Hence, this project is significant in showing which of these adders being tested perform better in
terms of computational delay, interconnect usage and power.

I.INTRODUCTION
The fundamental operations involved in any Digital systems are addition and multiplication.
Addition is an indispensible operation in any Digital, Analog, or Control system. Fast and
accurate operation of digital system depends on the performance of adders[1]. The main function
of adder is to speed up the addition of partial products generated during multiplication operation.
Hence improving the speed by reduction in area is the main area of research in VLSI system
design. Over the last decade many types of adder

Pros And Cons Of International Versus Capital Leasing In...
Throughout all industry, the topic of whether to buy or lease continues to be a relevant question
with proponents for both sides. There are all sorts of financing options in today s vast and
technological society, many of which I had never even heard of. When the topic of leasing was
presented, I like so many others, immediately thought of car leasing. Leasing takes many forms
aside from the automobile industry. Healthcare, like most all other business industries, is not
exempt from deciding how, when and what to lease. For this particular paper, we will look at the
advantages and disadvantages of operational versus capital leasing and how they relate to a
healthcare organization. In order to gain a full perspective on this issue, it is important to first
define the concept of a lease. A lease is an agreement conveying the right to use property, plant,
and equipment (PP E) usually for a stated period of time (Diffen, 2015). The two parties involved
are the lessee (party paying for use of the asset) and the lessor (party that owns the asset but is
leasing to another). Leasing has become incredibly popular, especially for organizations that may be

From the Federal mandate that requires the meaningful use of Electronic Health Records (EHR), to

organizations turn to leasing. Deciding on what type of lease best fits your needs and that of your

camp is Dachau. During the World War II, Jews were separated into two groups the healthy and the

Another form of punishment was the rope. During the rope the prisoner was hung so their heels
would not touch the ground. This made the prisoner stand on their toes to stay alive. This lasted
usually around 2 hours per incident. The rope was used to punish people who were caught
collecting evidence, which was on a no tolerance level. Whipping happened almost on a daily
basis. Prisoners were whipped for anything from mouthing back to not doing there work right, to
even looking at a guard the wrong way. Being whipped was looked at by prisoners as the easy
way out. Most considered the gassing of prisoners to be the worst punishment of all. Gassing
occurred in groups, prisoners were gassed for various reasons, but mostly for refusing to do
work. To be gassed prisoners were sent to Linz, Austria. There were many precautions in place to
prevent prisoners from escaping. The camp had barbed wire charged with electricity to prevent
climbing. If prisoners made it through the barbed wire they had to swim across a canal that was
extremely hard to cross. It was almost impossible to escape. If a prisoner escaped the ones that
remained behind suffered the punishment. The rule was that if one escapes, ten must die, and that
was carried out frequently. On the camp there was a crematorium, which was there for easier
disposal of the dead bodies. The crematorium was originally built in a wooden barracks on the

A regular intake of KFC products can have harmful effects on long term health since trans fat is
a harder fat that clogs the arteries more than other fats. Michael Jacobsen, the executive director
of the Center for Science in the Public Interest, claims KFC knows that other, healthier cooking
products are available to produce the same taste: KFC knows this, yet it recklessly puts its
customers at risk of a Kentucky Fried Coronary ( KFC Blasted ). As long as fast food chains such
as McDonald s, Burger King, and Kentucky Fried Chicken refuse to provide healthier meals,
consumers will continue to have unbalanced diets.
According to the National Institutes of Health, the unbalanced diet resulting from the consumption
of fast food increases the chances of fatal health conditions, such as hypertension, coronary heart

more than twice a week have a two fold increase in insulin resistance. For people with high

Rest Metabolic Rate Lab Report
Introduction Resting metabolic rate (RMR) is a metabolic process in the body that involves
energy which includes anabolic processes and catabolic processes. The rate at which these
methods follow is measured in calories per unit in time, and is frequently measured in calories per
day. Unlike Basal metabolic rate (BMR), resting metabolic rate does not include twelve hours of
fasting. It is accountable for the amount of the energythe body uses in a resting state. In order to get
an individual resting metabolic rate, the individual has to be in a well rested and fasted state,
while having a normal body temperature, being refrain from eating for up to 12 to 14 hours prior
to measurement, or even going without from a vigorous exercise for at least 48 hours prior to

Resting metabolic rate varies between individuals due to being fasted and rested, since digesting a
meal or recovering from a session of exercise can affect a person s RMR. RMR can be affected by
factors which may include: males having a higher RMR than females, RMR increases a person s
body weight, eating a small meal portion increases an individual s RMR or being a tall person will
have a higher resting rate than a short person; also gaining more muscles will increase a person s
RMR.
Resting metabolic rate is the energy requirement to sustain dynamic tasks while lying silently in a
supine position. The resting metabolic rate could be measured by using an indirect calorimetry
because it measures the energy expenditure from oxygen consumption and carbon dioxide
production. The ideal purpose of the lab is to predict a person s resting metabolic rate by measuring
oxygen uptake with the determination of RMR via estimation

Compare And Contrast Ring Tail Lemurs And Humans
Ring Tailed Lemurs vs. Humans Ring Tailed Lemurs and humans are not a likely pair to come to
mind when thinking about animals that are similar. However,Ring Tailed lemurs and humans have
a lot more in common than one might think. However, Ring Tailed Lemurs and humans also have
copious differences in aforementioned aspects of genetics, classification, anatomy, and
physiology, as well as in other areas such as behaviors, diet, and habitat. How are Humans and
Ring Tailed Lemurs similar? First, humans and ring tailed lemurs are both considered primates.
Primates are the highest order of mammals and include humans, lemurs, apes, New and Old world
monkeys, etc. Primates are characterized by nails on the hands and feet, a short snout, a large
brain, 5 digits on each limb, forward facing eye sockets, and adaptations for climbing trees.... Show

Mohammad Reza Shah Pahlavi Research Paper
On October 26, 1919, in Tehran, Iran, a man was born who would change the course of history
forever. This man fostered some of the best nationalization policies in his country, in addition to
new development programs designed to better the lives of Iranians. His name: Mohammad Reza
Shah Pahlavi (Encyclopaedia Britannica). In 1979, Pahlavi was exiled from his country because
of a political revolution, but it was perhaps his exile more than anything else he did in his life that
was the real turning point, mostly due to the rise of Radical Islam that followed shortly after. Reza
Pahlavi may not seem like an important figure in history, but his banishment changed the course of
history forever.
Born October 26, 1919, Mohammad Reza was the eldest son of an army officer who became ruler
of Iran in 1925. Then, after his father s exile on September 16, 1941, Mohammad Reza replaced his

When Pahlavi made it to the United States in October 1979, Islamic militants in Tehran responded
on November 4 by initiating the Iranian hostage crisis (Chun and History.com).
But what did Reza Pahlavi s exile actually do? Some might propose an argument that it did nothing
but allow a gate to open that Khomeini was able to slip through. However, the facts would prove
otherwise. Although the shah had downfalls that led to revolts, his contributions to Iranian society
cannot be missed. During his address to the World Affairs Council, Reza Pahlavi stated,
I invite my fellow Iranians to accept and defend our differences in the spirit of pluralism and
tolerance, and champion the cause of human rights, secularism and democracy as a common
denominating goal, above and beyond our personal, ethnic, religious and ideological variations.
There can only be one real solution: change from within, and at the hand of the Iranian people, is
the only legitimate, and the least costly

For The Statement Of Purpose For Mechanical Engineering
Statement of Purpose
What is common between a simple linear actuator and a modern F 16 fighter jet? Many might
instantly quote the most conspicuous features. But one aspect of great influence in building
systems ranging from an actuator to a jet is the hidden technology (as stated by Prof. Richard
Murray) being controls. The future of mechanical engineering, when I envision it, is a world of
smart, efficient mechanical systems: self driving cars, autonomous robots, intelligent
manufacturing lines and smart energy grids. The ability of Control theory to manage and regulate
behavior of systems in multiple domains of Mechanical Engineering is appealing to me. It
supplements my tendency to be versatile. With a desire to learn advanced concepts in control
theory and to apply them to a real world problem, I want to pursue a MS degree in Mechanical
Engineering with an emphasis in Controls. An exploration into IC engines in my sophomore year,
helped me secure an internship at Ashok Leyland R D center. This gave me an industrial insight
into engine assembly techniques, sensor systems and had a hands on opportunity to install an EGR
and Turbocharger module. I was awed by the interplay of various minute components in an IC
engine coming together to work in unison. Watching how mechanical... Show more content on

undergraduate degree, I realized that Control Theory is a common factor that brings these domains
together and aligned with my propensity for being multi disciplinary in the mechanical engineering

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Managing Our Kids Media Use
Managing Our Kids Media Use
Ciara(age 12): Ciara believes that she must stay late to talk to someone who she considers a friend
What is Media Use, anyway?
Interacting with anything that has a screen is termed as the use of media. There are several
advantages and disadvantages of its usage. Parents usually define media consumption as useless.
However, it totally depends on the user how he/she uses it effectively. Electronic media plays a
significant role in children s academics as well. Parents fail to get the fact that digital learning is
equally important for a child s educational experience.
A More Useful Definition
We have classified media interaction into three separate categories which can be referred as the
three C s.
Media Consumption: To consume media passively without contributing.
Media Creation: To produce and distribute in a way that needs active participation and problem
solving skills.
Media Communication: To use media to communicate with people.
In a case study, a mom from Connecticut was interviewed about her child s media use. She

The Union Into Civil War
Slavery, in itself, was the most predominant reason for the breakup of the Union. It fundamentally
divided the Free northern states and the Slave southern states, causing immediate tension. However,
it was the various conflicts resultant of the central issue of slavery that truly plunged the Union
into Civil War. The foremost of these tensions dealt with new territories, particularly those gained
in the Mexican cession. The Mexican War was the direct result of Manifest Destiny, or the belief
that the United States was ordained by God to control North America from coast to coast, which
was introduced by the article used in Document 1. This article by John L. O Sullivan was written to

Ralph Waldo Emerson said, in Document C, that the United States will conquer Mexico, but it will
be as the man swallows the arsenic. This statement points out a key similarity between this war and
the Civil War both were tainted by slavery. The Mexican War would result in new slave states,
making abolitionists angry, resulting in the conflicts that started the Civil War. Document D,
written by David Wilmot of the Wilmot Proviso, reveals the tensions created by the Mexican
cession, saying, I ask not that slavery be abolished, I demand that this government preserve the
integrity of free territory against the aggressions of slavery against its wrongful usurpations. Up
until that point, there were an equal number of slave and free states. How would the balance be
maintained? Wilmot suggested that slavery remain only in the current slave states and not spread
to any new territories. However, his plan was rejected, showing that neither side would compromise,
but, instead, that the Union would break apart. Therefore, the Compromise of 1850 was passed as a
way to appease the north and the south. Document E shows the distinct separation of slave and
free states resultant of this compromise. This reveals a major breakup of the Union over slavery.
Document F points out the Kansas Nebraska Act of 1854, created by Stephen Douglas, which
divided the newly gained Nebraska Territory into two

Host Stereotypes
It is well known that is normal for a host society to create stereotypes in regards to new non
native groups. To be more accurate, stereotypes occur because diverse groups possess their own
primary characteristics that are different from the host group s features. Karel D.Bicha presented
two types of possible stereotypes such as negative and positive. It all depends how the diverse
group acts when introduced to the host society. If diverse group adapts to the mores and ethics of
the host society within fast time, stereotypes wouldn t exist. Respectively, if diverse group starts
pushing its own characteristics without accepting the host s way of doing things, then there might
be created a negative stereotype. From one side stereotypes provide... Show more content on

to the introduction of alcohol. Jews used wine for their religious practices; however, Italians

that shows the difference in diverse cultural groups. Slavic group was known to have very low
criminal rate. Mostly drunk bar fights and minor theft. Jews were the group with almost no
criminal record; thus, if something ever happened police knew it wasn t anything serious.
However, Italians had talent in creating criminals. They held the highest criminal rate in American
society. Boarding was another factor that distinguished several diverse groups. Slavs were labeled
as cheap men (hunky labor); thus, they were boarding with non family members as well. They
were trying to economize. This further showed a negative result on Slavic groups by lowering the
tone of family life. Some Slavic male tenants (except Czechs) contacted owners to provide them full

Animals Should Not Be Treated
Animals forced to live in farm factories being used to produce food are mistreated on the daily

which cause them to have sours under there bodies from not moving. These animals keeps under

most people don t see the harm that is done to these animals and also the harm that is done to the

to treat another living thing this way all living things should be treated with respect regardless of
what it maybe, I know that all living things can be treated like humans but we should at least insure
that all living things pain and stress should be kept to a minimum and should be eased when it can

Cultural competence is significant especially for group leaders since groups have so much
diversity. To provide competent supervision, supervisors must assist trainees in conceptualizing
diversity issues, becoming aware of personalizations related to diversity, and generating diversity
competent interventions at all levels of group work interaction (Okech Rubel, 2007, para. 4).
Okech and Rubel (2007) researched the integration of cultural competency into the supervision of

The Theory On Rainbow Formation And The Mechanics Of Them...
Rainbows and the mechanics of them have been studied since ancient times. Greek philosophers
had some understanding of the role of refraction, scientists in the 13th century produced theories on
rainbow formation, and in the 17th century, Rene Descartes sketched out the conditions required to
observe a rainbow(Douma).
There are two key aspects that affect a rainbow, and these include the altitude of the sun and the
size of the raindrops. The colors of the rainbow are because of two basic facts:
Sunlight is made up of the whole range of colors that the eye can detect. The range of sunlight
colors, when combined, looks white to the eye. This property of sunlight was first demonstrated by
Sir Isaac Newton in 1666.
Light of different colors is refracted by different amounts when it passes from one medium (air, for
example) into another (water or glass, for example) (University Corporation for Atmospheric
Research).
Determining whether or not the wavelengths will go through the raindrops or reflect depends on
the angle that the light falls on the backside of the raindrop. Each rain droplet has a function in the
formation of the rainbow. Sunlight enters the rain droplet at a specific angle and the rain droplet
separates the white light into many different colors. This angle is a fixed measurement between
your eye and the sun. What color that is refracted is dependent on the critical angle, the angle the
sunlight strikes the back of the rain droplet (Mahlen). Red

History Of Football Team Expansion
Origins Expansion of the National Football League to twenty eight teams was an agreed part of
the AFL/NFL merger of 1970 and confirmed at the end of that season,[1] but attempts to carry it
out did not materialise until after the 1973 season, when it was announced that Tampa would be
the first city to get an expansion franchise,[2] at a cost of US$ 16,000,000 (which even then was
considered a paltry sum.[3] Part of the reason for the delay was due to uncertainties in a few of the
newly integrated teams stadiums; both the Buffalo Bills and Boston Patriots had stadiums
inadequate for the NFL, and Tampa interests unsuccessfully courted both teams to move to the
Tampa Bay area.[4][5] Once Rich and Schaefer Stadiums were built for the Bills and Patriots
respectively, the league was stable enough to begin expanding.... Show more content on

This worksheet demonstrates another way I asked my students to construct knowledge; by
examining a document (in this case a difficult, non narrative poem) for its details, to try to sum
those details to meaning (comprehension) and to try to figure out how the student knew how to
sum those details (metacognition). While the practical, classroom end of this worksheet was a
brainstorm regarding the details of the poem and an increasingly specific investigation of the
diversity of potential meanings in the poem, by allowing my students to write before speaking to
gather their thoughts and ideas before even a spoken brainstorm I allowed each of my students to

ultimately allowed my students to make the leap to charting a small section of ideas that were,

to construct knowledge with each other the teacher must engage students in activities to foster

The Human Body Of The Thyroid Gland
The thyroid gland is very important in proper functioning of the human body. The hormones it
releases are vital in regulating growth and metabolic reaction. The thyroid gland is relatively
small (about 20g) and is located at the base of the neck, connected to the windpipe and voicebox.
Its structure may be described as butterfly shaped as it is composed of two connected lobes. See
image: The two main hormones secreted by the thyroidgland are tetraiodothyronine (thyroxine or
T4) and triiodothyronine(T3). Both hormones have a peptide structure containing iodine (three
atoms in T3 and four in T4).These two hormones regulate growth and development as well as
metabolism. They both speed up the rate of the body s metabolic reactions, which... Show more

Likewise, when a greater rate of growth and metabolism is needed, secretion of TRH can be
increased. Thus, homeostasis is maintained in the body. See diagram of this process below. In a
healthy individual, this mechanism means that thyroid activity proceeds at a normal rate, resulting
in normal growth and metabolism. However, in some cases the thyroid gland may not produce
enough hormones or may be overactive and produce excessive amounts. The focus in this case
will be on overactive thyroid glands and on the specific case of Graves disease.
Hyperthyroidism is a term used to describe an overactive thyroid gland. This is usually prevented
by the process mentioned above, however there are some factors that can cause hyperthyroidism.
One of these factors is Graves disease.
In Graves disease, a response in the body s immune system (the system which defends against
disease) causes the antibody thyroid stimulating immunoglobulin (TSI) to be produced. The precise
cause of this immune response is currently unknown. TSI binds to the cells of the thyroid gland and
causes them to secrete excessive amounts of thyroid hormones. Some of the symptoms caused are:
A feeling of being nervous or restless
Insomnia (poor sleep)
Increased appetite but weight loss
Hand tremors
Diarrhoea
Irregular menstruation in women
Swelling of thyroid gland or goitre

Who Is To Blame For The Death Of Romeo And Juliet Essay
Do you believe that true love will be together forever? Sometimes that is true, but other times it
is not a good thing. In the book Romeo and Juliet by William Shakespeare, Romeo and Juliet fall
in love but it would never work out because their families are mortal enemies. Both Romeo and
Juliet end up killing themselves for each other, and Romeo, Juliet, and Friar Lawrence are to
blame for the deaths of the young lovers and why each one holds a big responsibility to the
deaths. Romeo is the biggest reason for the death of the young lovers because he came on to
Juliet at the party. At the party for the Capulets, Romeo went over to Juliet and was trying to
seduce her by saying, If I profane with my unworthiest hand/This holy shrine, the gentle sin this
/My lips, two blushing pilgrims, ready stand/To smooth that rough touch with a tender kiss
(1.5.92 95). If Romeo did not try to come on to Juliet then she would of gone with Paris like her
father wanted her to and Juliet would not of had to go behind everyone s back and marry Romeo.
Clearly, If Romeo did not come on to Juliet then none of this would of happened, so that is why

What Role Does Religion Play In Greek Society
Linear B a script found on clay tablets, uses pictorial signs to represent syllables, is recognized
as an early form of Greek, kept track of people, animals and objects in extreme detail, government
kept track and organized the production of grain and wool, tablets say nothing of individual
people not even kings, very little about political and legal systems, social structures, gender
relations and religious beliefs, (73) Significance The information on the tablets is important,
however the information not found on the tablets is what is really informative. No mention of
religion or government/legal system is found. This suggest that even though there was a central
government the authority likely played a different role in people s lives compared to that of their
comparable Middle Eastern neighbors. The lack of religion on the tablets could mean that
authority of rulers and religion were two separate entities or that religion did not play a very large
role in their lives. The information that is found on the tablets expose the society s strong

Essay 3 Second Draft
A Review of Searching for Sugar Man The film Searching for Sugar Man focuses on a legend folk
music star, Sixto Rudriguez, who is more popular than Elvis in South Africa but fails to gain fame
in the United States. He knows nothing about his fame in South Africa and has no idea how he is
deified there. The whole story is told in a linear way to present a dramatic journey of finding
Rudriguez. It is not followed an old fashioned rough start road to success dream come true style
(Ning). It is a display of two parallel worlds of a legend music hermit. An artist who regards art
as his ultimate faith in life remains unmoved either by gain or loss. In describing music journey of
Rudriguez, the director shoots several full length shots of Rudriguez s wandering. The first
wandering shot appears at the sixth minute, where a lonely figure wanders passing by slums, CD
shops, the sewer club and Detroit steel factory. He was just a wandering spirit around the city (
Searching for Sugar Man ). This shot indicates several elements of that time, including working
class, minority nation, and large company. The solitude night of Detroit and the decaying
atmosphere of this city are perfectly matched, which coordinates with Rudriguez s music as
background melody. A modest man of modest means, he quietly reflects on the success he now
enjoys a continent away from his Detroit home and the hard times in

Comment System Analysis
Best commenting systems used by the bloggers for Blogs.
Blogs and websites always attract comments. Unfortunately, not all submissions are active and
relevant as spam will always make their way to your site. But while you have no total control over
spam that is posted on your blog or website, you can use the best tool that will help you manage
them onwards.
The solution here is to choose the right and most useful comment system. An traditional system
may be perfect, but it can also lower the number of feedback your site will get. Have in mind to
select one that is compatible with your blogging platform and should be cool to use not only for
you but also for your readers.

Actually, according to their site, they allow you to add next gen community management and social
web integration to any site on any platform. This means that it allows more social interaction via

your website.
Why use Disqus Plugin?
Many bloggers use plugins such as Akismet to block spam. CommentLuv to give love to comments.
Subscribe to Comments to keep updated. Even though all these plugins allow for better
communication with your readers, the additional plugins you use, the greater the chance of blog
problems. With Disqus, users can like a comment, subscribe to comments, find out more
information about a commenter, and subscribe to that person s comments.
This third party system requires people to create an account using their email or social media
profiles (Facebook, Twitter or Google+) on the Disqus site. When people comment Disqus, they
are notified via email when their comment gets a reply, when the blog post receives a new
feedback or when someone likes the opinion they shared.
Disqus gives room for advanced functionalities such as holding comments for moderation or
permitting only those with verified emails to be published. It does allow additional moderators to
log in and moderate comments. Analytics are also delivered for all feedback with information about

Marcez Mejias
Lament for Ignacio Sanchez Mejias by poet Lorca is an elegy for the dead bullfighter told
through the eyes of the poet himself. Lorca s poem demonstrates how the narrator of the poem
guides what the reader knows and does not know through the use of a first person point of view.
The images and emotions experienced through narrator allows one to compare Lorca to a movie
director or an editor. Lorca uses a first person point of view in order to demonstrate the lament for
the dead as they deprived of the achievements that could have been theirs. Lorca uses a first person
point of view throughout the poem to reveal the narrator s initial feelings of depression towards the
untimely deathof his close friend Ignacio Sanchez Mejias. In the first... Show more content on

However, as the poem continues, Lorca shows how he will gradually learn to accept death as it
is an inevitable process of life. However, the narrator fails to explain why these two are such close
friends. This forces the reader to create his or her observations on why they are close. One
assumption is that Lorca is exploring his homosexuality under the conservative Spanish society.
Lorca s powerful emotions and images throughout his poem enabling his readers to also experience
what he experienced throughout the use of first person. One can make a strong argument that
Lorca can be compared to a movie director or editor. Just like how a movie director chooses what
scenes to shoot and how they are shot, Lorca chooses how he wants to portray the images and
emotions throughout the poem.
Throughout the third section of the poem Lorca laments on how Mejias losses out further
achievements because of his early death. Lorca writes, All is finished. What is happening? Lorca
asks what happens after death, a common theme throughout his early poems. Here Lorca laments
for humanity as death shuts humans out of fulfillment that could have been theirs if they were still

Civil War Dbq
The civil war was an ugly fight between the North, which was called the Union, they were against
slavery, and the South who were called the Confederacy, they were for slavery. During the civil war
both the south and north needed African American to serve in many things such as, helping build
fortifications, to put artillery in place and meet other military needs. This connects to my learning
by saying that the military needed help building forts and putting things together. The Northern and
Southern armies had very different views of African Americans military service in the Civil War.
One way that we know this is by looking at two recruitment posters. A confederate recruitment
poster from 1862 shows that the south viewed blacks as laborors.

Analysis Of Chopin s Chopin
This news comes from her husband s friend, who says that Brently Mallard has died in a railroad
accident. Mrs. Mallard s sister, Josephine, mindful of Mrs. Mallard s heart condition, breaks the
news to her in broken sentences and veiled hints (193). But when Mrs. Mallard hears the shocking
news, she undergoes a profound transformation that empowers her with a clear and exalted
perception (194). As Chopin demonstrates, this heightened consciousness comes to the protagonist
because of her awakened emotions. Revealing her own dynamic and avant garde understanding,
Chopin rejects the tradition of attributing supremacy to the faculty of reason in the act of
perception, and she attributes it instead to the faculty of emotions.
When she hears the news of her husband s death, Mrs. Mallard s obliviousness to the beauty of life
breaks down under the powerful impact of emotion. Until this moment, Mrs. Mallard hardly thinks
it worthwhile to continue her existence; as the narrator of the story says, It was only yesterday
[Mrs. Mallard] had thought with a shudder that life might be long (194). Her life until this point
seems devoid of emotion, as the lines in her face besp[ea]k repression (193). Upon hearing the
news, her sorrow gushes out in a torrent: She wept at once with sudden, wild abandonment (193).
The narrator points out, however, that Mrs. Mallard is not struck, as many women have been, by a
paralyzed inability to accept the painful sense of loss (193). On

Vacant Lot Restoration Case Study
Vacant Lot Restoration Program is a comprehensive plan to specifically address vacant lots by
engaging residents and organizations in their sustainable revitalization by helping underserved,
inner city residents green their communities and restore vacant lots by creating neighborhood
gardens and green spaces, planting street trees, and establishing tree nurseries (Parks People
Foundation, 2002). These efforts were initially undertaken in collaboration with the City
Department of Recreation and Parks and funded by Baltimore City Department of Housing and
CommunityDevelopment (DHCD). The program was officially established through an agreement
between the Parks People Foundation (PPF) and DHCD to assist communities neighborhood
Service in managing vacant open space through adopting the lot Program. All the agenesis will

have accomplished several stages in the restoration process over as many as five semi annual
planting seasons (Parks People Foundation, 2002). It empowers over 350 people in 24, and later 30

  • 2. Difference Between Market Economy And Mixed Economy In order for a country to run, it needs to sustain a stable economy. A country can choose one of the three economies; Market economy, Planned economy, and Mixed economy. Market economy is primarily based on supply and demand and is described as a shift right on the economic spectrum. As well, resources are privately owned by businesses rather than the government. Market economy is primarily controlled by the consumers who drive the economic decision making with little government involvement. Words such as Individualism and Capitalism can be used to describe Market Economy. However, no country can ever be a 100% market economy even though countries such as The United States of America are extremely far right on the economic spectrum. Planned Economyis primarily controlled and managed by the government with little intervention from the consumers and is described as a shift left on the economic spectrum. Also, in a planned economy, the government makes decisions regarding scarcity and also finds solutions on how to terminate it by varying the production, distribution, and consumption of products. Collectivism can also be used to describe Planned Economies. However, similarly to market economies, no country can ever be 100% Planned Economy even though countries such as North Korea fall extremely far left on the economic spectrum. A mixture of both these economies would be described as a mixed economy and it would be placed centrally on the economic spectrum. Resources are ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

However, the Canadian government is not always giving out warm welcomes to different ethnicities. During World War Two, the country rejects many Japanese and Italians who are already Canadian. The treatment of the Japanese and Italians in the Second World War is very unjust. The two groups face being put into internmentcamps against their own will, the government separates families and force men to work on farms with little pay. • 4. The Five Methods Of Capital Punishment The death penalty was fundamentally thought of for the benefit of society. The objective of Capital Punishment or Death penalty is to stop people from committing violent and offensive acts. The death penalty or capital punishment has however flopped in any case , to avoid or discourage crime. At present there are five methods of execution. The most commonly used form of execution is by lethal injection. In this method the convict is first injected with sodium thiopental, which puts the person to sleep, then he/she is injected with Pavulon, which finally kills him. [1] The next most common method of execution used is electrocution in which the person is tied with leather straps to a chair and electric current of two thousand or more volts is passed through the body. The initial shock of the electricity causes the person s body to surge forward. The shock burns the internal organs of the person, which leaves them dead. During this process urination, vomiting of blood, change in skin color, and even swelling or burning of the skin may occur. This method of execution is currently used by only eleven states. The third method is gas chamber execution in which hydrochloric acid and potassium is used to kill the convict. One of oldest methods of executions is hanging and last method is by shooting. All the five methods are inhumane and cruel. The convict dies within a few seconds. He never gets the time to realize his mistake, repent over it or to correct it. Killing that person ... No body of water, however, can support all of these different usages without suffering some degree of disturbance: under poor management, disturbance may result from even one primary use. Eutrophication is defined as the natural ageing process of natural body of water, generally understood to refer to enrichment of water systems by nutrients, notably phosphorus and nitrogen, and to the improved production of algal and higher plant biomass that the added nutrient loads stimulate (Reynolds, 1992). Customarily, the eutrophication is a natural phenomenon, but during the past decades, the word eutrophication has been frequently used to signify the artificial and unwanted addition of plant nutrients to waterbodies (Ryding Rast, 1989). Eutrophication is a process whereby water bodies, such as lakes, estuaries, or slow moving streams receive extra nutrients that stimulate unnecessary plant growth (periphyton attached algae, algae, and nuisance plants weeds). This boosted plant growth, regularly called an algal bloom, reduces dissolved oxygen in the water when dead plant material decays and can frequently cause other water biota (fish in particular) to perish. Nutrients can come from many sources, such as: fertilizers applied to agricultural fields, suburban lawns, and deposition of nitrogen from the atmosphere, erosion of soil containing nutrients and sewage treatment plant discharges. In the simplest definition, Eutrophication is the decreasing of the water quality within a body of water (Henry, 1993). Accelerated eutrophication of water ecosystems, as a direct ... Some of the common types of parallel prefix adders are Brent Kung, Kogge Stone, Han Carlson and Ladner Fischer adders. This paper involves an investigation of the performances of these adders in terms of computational delay, interconnect usage and power. The investigation and comparison for all these adders was conducted for 8 bit size. By using the XILINX 14.5 design software, the designs for above mentioned adders were developed. The simulation result produced the vector waveform which then shows the computational delay; interconnect usage and power for the adders. Hence, this project is significant in showing which of these adders being tested perform better in terms of computational delay, interconnect usage and power. When the topic of leasing was presented, I like so many others, immediately thought of car leasing. Leasing takes many forms aside from the automobile industry. Healthcare, like most all other business industries, is not exempt from deciding how, when and what to lease. For this particular paper, we will look at the advantages and disadvantages of operational versus capital leasing and how they relate to a healthcare organization. In order to gain a full perspective on this issue, it is important to first define the concept of a lease. A lease is an agreement conveying the right to use property, plant, and equipment (PP E) usually for a stated period of time (Diffen, 2015). The two parties involved are the lessee (party paying for use of the asset) and the lessor (party that owns the asset but is leasing to another). The rate at which these methods follow is measured in calories per unit in time, and is frequently measured in calories per day. Unlike Basal metabolic rate (BMR), resting metabolic rate does not include twelve hours of fasting. It is accountable for the amount of the energythe body uses in a resting state. In order to get an individual resting metabolic rate, the individual has to be in a well rested and fasted state, while having a normal body temperature, being refrain from eating for up to 12 to 14 hours prior to measurement, or even going without from a vigorous exercise for at least 48 hours prior to measurement.... • 24. Mohammad Reza Shah Pahlavi Research Paper On October 26, 1919, in Tehran, Iran, a man was born who would change the course of history forever. This man fostered some of the best nationalization policies in his country, in addition to new development programs designed to better the lives of Iranians. His name: Mohammad Reza Shah Pahlavi (Encyclopaedia Britannica). In 1979, Pahlavi was exiled from his country because of a political revolution, but it was perhaps his exile more than anything else he did in his life that was the real turning point, mostly due to the rise of Radical Islam that followed shortly after. Reza Pahlavi may not seem like an important figure in history, but his banishment changed the course of history forever. However, the facts would prove otherwise. Although the shah had downfalls that led to revolts, his contributions to Iranian society cannot be missed. During his address to the World Affairs Council, Reza Pahlavi stated, I invite my fellow Iranians to accept and defend our differences in the spirit of pluralism and tolerance, and champion the cause of human rights, secularism and democracy as a common denominating goal, above and beyond our personal, ethnic, religious and ideological variations. • 27. For The Statement Of Purpose For Mechanical Engineering Statement of Purpose What is common between a simple linear actuator and a modern F 16 fighter jet? Many might instantly quote the most conspicuous features. But one aspect of great influence in building systems ranging from an actuator to a jet is the hidden technology (as stated by Prof. Richard Murray) being controls. The future of mechanical engineering, when I envision it, is a world of smart, efficient mechanical systems: self driving cars, autonomous robots, intelligent manufacturing lines and smart energy grids. The ability of Control theory to manage and regulate behavior of systems in multiple domains of Mechanical Engineering is appealing to me. It supplements my tendency to be versatile. With a desire to learn advanced concepts in control theory and to apply them to a real world problem, I want to pursue a MS degree in Mechanical Engineering with an emphasis in Controls. An exploration into IC engines in my sophomore year, helped me secure an internship at Ashok Leyland R D center. This gave me an industrial insight into engine assembly techniques, sensor systems and had a hands on opportunity to install an EGR and Turbocharger module. It fundamentally divided the Free northern states and the Slave southern states, causing immediate tension. However, it was the various conflicts resultant of the central issue of slavery that truly plunged the Union into Civil War. The foremost of these tensions dealt with new territories, particularly those gained in the Mexican cession. Document D, written by David Wilmot of the Wilmot Proviso, reveals the tensions created by the Mexican cession, saying, I ask not that slavery be abolished, I demand that this government preserve the integrity of free territory against the aggressions of slavery against its wrongful usurpations. Up until that point, there were an equal number of slave and free states. How would the balance be maintained? Wilmot suggested that slavery remain only in the current slave states and not spread to any new territories. However, his plan was rejected, showing that neither side would compromise, but, instead, that the Union would break apart. Therefore, the Compromise of 1850 was passed as a way to appease the north and the south. Document E shows the distinct separation of slave and free states resultant of this compromise. This reveals a major breakup of the Union over slavery. • 37. The Theory On Rainbow Formation And The Mechanics Of Them... Rainbows and the mechanics of them have been studied since ancient times. Greek philosophers had some understanding of the role of refraction, scientists in the 13th century produced theories on rainbow formation, and in the 17th century, Rene Descartes sketched out the conditions required to observe a rainbow(Douma). There are two key aspects that affect a rainbow, and these include the altitude of the sun and the size of the raindrops. The colors of the rainbow are because of two basic facts: Sunlight is made up of the whole range of colors that the eye can detect. The range of sunlight colors, when combined, looks white to the eye. This property of sunlight was first demonstrated by Sir Isaac Newton in 1666. Light of different colors is refracted by different amounts when it passes from one medium (air, for example) into another (water or glass, for example) (University Corporation for Atmospheric Research). Determining whether or not the wavelengths will go through the raindrops or reflect depends on the angle that the light falls on the backside of the raindrop. Each rain droplet has a function in the formation of the rainbow. Sunlight enters the rain droplet at a specific angle and the rain droplet separates the white light into many different colors. This angle is a fixed measurement between your eye and the sun. What color that is refracted is dependent on the critical angle, the angle the sunlight strikes the back of the rain droplet (Mahlen). Its structure may be described as butterfly shaped as it is composed of two connected lobes. See image: The two main hormones secreted by the thyroidgland are tetraiodothyronine (thyroxine or T4) and triiodothyronine(T3). However, in some cases the thyroid gland may not produce enough hormones or may be overactive and produce excessive amounts. In the book Romeo and Juliet by William Shakespeare, Romeo and Juliet fall in love but it would never work out because their families are mortal enemies. Both Romeo and Juliet end up killing themselves for each other, and Romeo, Juliet, and Friar Lawrence are to blame for the deaths of the young lovers and why each one holds a big responsibility to the deaths. Romeo is the biggest reason for the death of the young lovers because he came on to Juliet at the party. At the party for the Capulets, Romeo went over to Juliet and was trying to seduce her by saying, If I profane with my unworthiest hand/This holy shrine, the gentle sin this /My lips, two blushing pilgrims, ready stand/To smooth that rough touch with a tender kiss (1.5.92 95). If Romeo did not try to come on to Juliet then she would of gone with Paris like her father wanted her to and Juliet would not of had to go behind everyone s back and marry Romeo. • 45. Marcez Mejias Lament for Ignacio Sanchez Mejias by poet Lorca is an elegy for the dead bullfighter told through the eyes of the poet himself. Lorca s poem demonstrates how the narrator of the poem guides what the reader knows and does not know through the use of a first person point of view. The images and emotions experienced through narrator allows one to compare Lorca to a movie director or an editor. Lorca uses a first person point of view in order to demonstrate the lament for the dead as they deprived of the achievements that could have been theirs. Lorca uses a first person point of view throughout the poem to reveal the narrator s initial feelings of depression towards the untimely deathof his close friend Ignacio Sanchez Mejias. However, the narrator fails to explain why these two are such close friends. This forces the reader to create his or her observations on why they are close. One assumption is that Lorca is exploring his homosexuality under the conservative Spanish society. Lorca s powerful emotions and images throughout his poem enabling his readers to also experience what he experienced throughout the use of first person. One can make a strong argument that Lorca can be compared to a movie director or editor. Just like how a movie director chooses what scenes to shoot and how they are shot, Lorca chooses how he wants to portray the images and emotions throughout the poem. Throughout the third section of the poem Lorca laments on how Mejias losses out further achievements because of his early death. Lorca writes, All is finished. What is happening? • 46. Civil War Dbq The civil war was an ugly fight between the North, which was called the Union, they were against slavery, and the South who were called the Confederacy, they were for slavery. During the civil war both the south and north needed African American to serve in many things such as, helping build fortifications, to put artillery in place and meet other military needs. This connects to my learning by saying that the military needed help building forts and putting things together. The Northern and Southern armies had very different views of African Americans military service in the Civil War. One way that we know this is by looking at two recruitment posters. A confederate recruitment poster from 1862 shows that the south viewed blacks as laborors. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 47. Analysis Of Chopin s Chopin This news comes from her husband s friend, who says that Brently Mallard has died in a railroad accident. Mrs. Mallard s sister, Josephine, mindful of Mrs. Mallard s heart condition, breaks the news to her in broken sentences and veiled hints (193). But when Mrs. Mallard hears the shocking news, she undergoes a profound transformation that empowers her with a clear and exalted perception (194). As Chopin demonstrates, this heightened consciousness comes to the protagonist because of her awakened emotions. Revealing her own dynamic and avant garde understanding, Chopin rejects the tradition of attributing supremacy to the faculty of reason in the act of perception, and she attributes it instead to the faculty of emotions. When she hears the news of her husband s death, Mrs. Mallard s obliviousness to the beauty of life breaks down under the powerful impact of emotion. Until this moment, Mrs. Mallard hardly thinks it worthwhile to continue her existence; as the narrator of the story says, It was only yesterday [Mrs. Mallard] had thought with a shudder that life might be long (194). Her life until this point seems devoid of emotion, as the lines in her face besp[ea]k repression (193). Upon hearing the news, her sorrow gushes out in a torrent: She wept at once with sudden, wild abandonment (193). The narrator points out, however, that Mrs. Mallard is not struck, as many women have been, by a paralyzed inability to accept the painful sense of loss (193). On ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
