Transitional Objects Of A Child
In this section we will discuss transitional objects and what role they play in the development of a
child. A transitional object is a physical object that helps toddlers to transit emotionally from a
stage of dependence to a stage of independence. The toddler thinks that the object is part of it, and
this transition stage enables the toddler to realize that the mother is not me as well as separateness
of other objects. These objects become vitally important to a toddler when going to sleep and as a
defense during anxiety. A transitional object plays an important role in replacing the mother child
bond (Winnicott, 1953).
A toddler assumes rights over the transitional object and excitedly loves and cuddles it. It should
not be changed ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Good mothering enables initial emotional development. Transitional objects enable the
continuation of the emotional development by being the first instance of the initiation of a
relationship between the toddler and the world (Wincott, 1953).
Observations of the earliest experiences of a healthy toddler are expressed by its relationship with
its first possession which is always a transitional object. Transitional objects also belong to the
realm of illusion which is the basis of initiating development. This stage is made possible by the
capacity of a mother to let the toddler have the illusion that what it creates really exists (Winncott,
1953).
Between the age of six and eight years, a child goes through a lot of physical, motor, emotional
and behavioral growth where different attitudes and values are developed. This age group is
associated physical developments such as slower growth rates of about eight pounds and 2 and a
half inches per year, more muscle growth and less fat development than in earlier years, and an
increase in strength (National Childcare Accreditation Council, 2008).
A child also starts using gross and fine motor skills in sporting activities. Fine motor skills include
using the small muscles that are found in the hands, arms, and fingers to use and control tools and
materials. Gross motor skills involve controlling the head, trunk, legs, and arms. An early childhood

William Blake s London Essay example
William Blake s London Works Cited Not Included William Blake s London is a representative of
English society as a whole, and the human condition in general that outlines the socio economic
problems of the time and the major communal evils. It condemns authoritative institutions including
the military, royalty, new industries, and the Church. Blake s tone creates a feeling of informative
bitterness, and is both angry and despondent at the suffering and increasing corruption of London s
society. Blake s sophisticated use of notation like capitalization, his specific change in meter, and
the point of view all clearly develop London. The point of view in which Blake employs to London
is significant to the understanding... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Here Blake is exposing the innocence that has been corrupted due to the present evil. This line
fills the readers mind with a dreadful image of children being stripped away of their innocence.
Here Blake specifically targets children, which are looked upon as pure and guiltless to help get
his point across to the reader. Blake s genius is evident throughout the poem where his changing
meter directly correlates to the point he is making at the moment. The meter is changed in the
last line of the first stanza from iambic tetrameter to anapestic dimeter possibly to stress the
section (Damon, 1965) The third stanza is anaspectic for the first foot but then reverts to iambic
for the last two feet of the line. The speaker begins here by condemning main foundations like the
Church and the military capitalizing both words. ?The Chimney sweepers cry? is basically an
exposure to the child labor prevalent during this era. Once again he uses a child to symbolize an
innocent victim terrorized by higher authority. Also, these cries are accusations against the Church.
Blake uses the phrase ?blackening Church? to expose the Church?s function as a tyrant rather than
a source of enlightenment (Lambert Jr., 1995) This line illustrates the Church both blackened by
soot and the exploited people who are forced to clean it. At this point it is clear to the reader that
Blake?s representation of the church is ironically evil. It forces oppression on the people of the
society. He

Comparing On The Waterfront And A Man For All Seasons
Compare A Man for all Seasons with On the Waterfront using the quotes below as a basis for your

Terry: Conscience. That stuff can drive you nuts .
More: Well, I believe when statesmen forsake their own private conscience for the sake of their
public duties they lead their country by a short route to chaos. Act I, Scene II.
Our ability to discern what is morally right and wrong speaks volume about where our values lie.

Although they suffer, they are content to abide by this code as it promises day s worth of work

What Is The Influence Of The Cosby Show On American Culture
The Cosby show created a deliberately positive image of blacks thus the decision for Claire
Huxtable to be shown as a lawyer and Cliff Huxtable being portrayed as a doctor. When The
Cosby show made its debut in 1984 it was the first television show to show a successful upper
middle class black family. Until that point blacks in television were only portrayed as maids,
servants, and janitors. The Cosby Show introduced Americans to a more realistic image of black
Americans that dispelled old stereotypes that plagued America. The Cosby Show empowered
black Americans and instilled a sense of pride throughout the community. Moreover, if we could
have more shows showing affluent black families like The Cosby Show today it would create a
better image of blacks to others and to themselves.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Paradox In Romeo And Juliet
The story of Romeo and Juliet is an ironic and cruel story. The characters go through plenty of
trouble because of their love. The characters use literary devices to show the love they have for
each other. Shakespeare use juxtaposition, oxymoron, and/ or paradox as indirect
characterization to describe their complex personalities. Romeo is passionate when it comes to
his elaborate feelings; at first, Romeo just fell in love with Juliet for her beauty, but he
overcomes that and loves all of Juliet s qualities too. Romeo shows his passion for Juliet by using
an oxymoron. He describes how amazing she is compared to a worthless man like him: And,
touching hers, make blessed my rude hand (1.5.49). Romeo sees Juliet as an angel, and him as a

When Romeo falls in love with Juliet, he finds out that she is a Capulet and the society will not
allow them to get married: Is she a Capulet?/ O dear account! my life is my foe s debt (1.5.116

express his unfortunate love for Juliet even though she is his enemy. He also tells Juliet that he
will do anything for her if it means being with her: With love s light wings did I o erperch these
walls;/ For stony limits cannot hold love out,/ And what love can do, that dares love attempt,
/ Therefore thy kinsmen are no let to me (2.2.66 69). The wings represent Romeo s love for Juliet
and the stony limits are society. Juliet also tells Romeo that she is willing to do anything for her
love with Romeo: Deny thy father and refuse thy name!/ Or, if thou wilt not, be but sworn my
love,/ And I ll no longer be a Capulet (2.2.34 36). Since society will not let them be married
because she is a Capulet and Romeo is a Montague, Juliet tells Romeo she will no longer be a
Capulet so they can get married. Because his love for Juliet will allow him to fight against society,

Government does not have My College s Back
Last week, while having my morning coffee, I overheard a conversation between a college
lecturer and a well known secretary in The Ministry of Finance. I was about to return upstairs in
my office when I observed the secretary pushed forward, looking the lecturer directly in her eyes
emphatically and aggressively said, You academics just don t get it...the government aint gat no
money to take care no university. I relaxed in my seat as the conversation between the two raged on.
This same discussion is but a fragment of a national discussion that has been ongoing in this
country for many years, and the debate is whether or not The Bahamasis economically, financially
and socially developed enough to maintaina university. This situation has become a worrying
problem indeed.According to her article, We Do Not Need A University , Ms. Pam Burnside
discusses the issue of The Bahamas being a small independent nation who wants to ameliorate its
tertiary level institution with inadequate financial resources. She further explains that the Bahamas
is too greedy and is ashamed of the College that we already have in existence. In addition, she
argues that The Bahamas does not need a university and simply cannot afford it. In response to
Burnside s arguments, I most certainly agree with her. The College of The Bahamas is not well
equipped to become a university as it lacks a few vital components that need to be addressed
urgently: Financial resources,Infrastructure and Staffing.

Salmonell A Major Cause Of Foodborne Illness Worldwide
Salmonella enterica sub enterica are a major cause of foodborne illness worldwide. Contaminated
food products such as pork, meat, milk, fruits, vegetables, egg and egg products are the common
vehicles of Salmonella infections (Hur et al., 2012). It is estimated that gastric illness caused by
Salmonella spp. accounts for 93.8 million cases and 155,000 deaths worldwide each year
(Majowicz et al., 2010). This statistic clearly indicate that Salmonellainfections are public health
and financial global burden for both industrialised and non industrialised countries. In Australia,
majority of human disease outbreaks of Salmonellosis are associated with consumption of
contaminated egg and egg products (OzFoodNetWorkingGroup, 2012, 2015).
Several intervention strategies have been implemented on a worldwide scale to reduce the risk of
Salmonella contamination and has been discussed in the literature review. However, emergence of
antimicrobial resistance (AMR) strains of Salmonella, egg contamination, biofilm formation and
the decreased susceptibility of Salmonella biofilms to commonly used antimicrobials are the major
obstacles in this journey. In spite of this, it is vital that studies concerning Salmonella must ensure
the effective prevention and control of this zoonotic pathogen. This thesis has investigated different
pathogenicity aspect of Salmonella enterica spp. recovered from egg farm environments of
Australia and the key findings of in vivo and in vitro experiments are

Substance Abuse And Low Education
It is no doubt that the Appalachian region is discredited of its merits, despite the perceived
negative social problems associated with the area. What many outsiders of the area fail to
acknowledge is that many of the same problems of Appalachia plague other regions of the United
States as well. In Appalachia, there are many problems that can be associated with the area and
usually the people from the area are grouped into a poor environment a lower socioeconomic
class. Across the region there is a wide social problem on low education rates and relatively high
substance abuse statistics. What others also fail to see is that the Appalachian region has a
plethora of services to offer along with a rich heritage embedded in its people. The good people of
the community have worked together to overcome the past and current issues of substance abuse
and low education by forming different groups to offer for the public to take part in.
Substance abuse is heavily associated with the region of Appalachia. Appalachian people are
looked at negatively for being categorized with drug and alcohol addictions. The issue has
increased since coal mining and other industrial work places are declining in the area
(Sodomick, 2014). People resort to drug trade to make profit since the career field is declining in
the area. Because substance abuse has become so popular, overdose and countless deaths have
occurred more often as well. The past few years, it has been a horrific trouble with the

America in the 1920 s
America in the 1920s, also known as the Roaring 20s or New Era, was a time of great changes
and huge growth. America was being a more modern nation, and a return to normalcy was being
seen after the Progressive Movement and First World War. Politically, the American government
was seemingly conservative, but experimented with different approaches to public policy and
foreign diplomatic policy. Economically, it was a time of tremendous growth and new forms of
organization. Socially, the American popular culture reshaped itself to reflect the increasingly
industrial, urban, and consumer oriented society. The 20s were a time of a distinguishably new
culture and profound change and excitement, but it wasn t great for everybody. After 1922, there
was a long period of prosperity and economic expansion. People had more money to spend, and
prices weren t rising very much. The key to the economic boom was new technology. The
automobile industry was one of the most important industries in the nation, and led to stimulated
growth in other industries, such as steel, rubber, glass, and especially oil companies. Road
construction booms in response to automobiles, providing more jobs for workers and helping the
economy even more. The radio comes about in the early 20s and becomes a popular form of
entertainment and leads the creation the National Broadcasting Company, or NBC. As a result, the
nation becomes more connected. Commercial aviation develops and planes are used to deliver mail

My Career As An Educator
More than ten years ago, I began my career as an educator in Queen Anne s County, Maryland; a
suburban area of limited cultural or ethnical diversity. A few years later I, transitioned to Anne

urban suburban schoolwith more cultural, ethnical, and social economical diversity. Currently, I

This easy of adoption to different school climates may be attributed to my natural leadership quality

Power And Corruption In Macbeth
Power tends to corrupt and absolute power corrupts absolutely. (John Dalberg Acton) Power
always leads to corruption, especially in the story of Macbeth. The main character, Macbeth,
becomes more and more corrupt as the story continues. He gets his first taste of power when he
becomes The Thane of Cawdor, he then begins murdering to become king, and finally begins
murdering people so he can keep his power. Macbeth has very little power at the beginning of the
story. He is basically a soldier that protects the king during the war. Macbeth hated having such a
small amount of power and he began to desire more. Macbeth then encounters the three witches
that tell him all about the power that he is going to gain. First they speak of him becoming the
Thane of Cawdor, and then the king. Hearing all this makes Macbeth excited yet he does not
believe it to be possible that he will acquire so much power. Then, Ross and Angus arrive with

Pathogenesis of Cerebrovascular Accidents
There are many factors that can lead to the development of a cerebrovascular accident. Factors that
contribute to the development of a stroke are hypertension, dysrhythmias, heart disease, diabetes,
gout, postural hypotension, cardiac hypertrophy, high cholesterol levels, a sedentary lifestyle,

Iron Age Celts Research Paper
Iron Age Celts of the 1st Century
Homes:
Brythonic Celts is the name given to the Celts who occupied Britain during the Iron Age, and they
were a people fragmented and separated into several different tribes all across Britain. Each Tribe
had its own king that lead and governed them, as opposed to being one, single united body.
Tribes of Celts would often protect themselves in cases of battle against enemies in something
known as a Hill Fort, which was, of course, situated on top of a hill they were defensive settings,
as living at the top of the hill gave them the advantage in battle of seeing their enemies approach
and being able to prevent them as they climbed up the hill. However, it is suspected that these
were not permanent accommodations and may have been used as assembly points for tribes to
withstand a short siege, as they contained no sources of water. The sizes of these Hill Forts would

Strategy has been perceived as a major concept in public relations starting the beginning of the
1980s. Regardless, little evidence has been brought forth to show how the term strategy, as well as
the related terms, are defined. Further, there lacks agreement concerning what public relations
strategy is or ought to be. Public relationsis denoted as the professional maintenance of a positive
public image by a firm or popular person. Some claim that public relations is about meaning and
that interpretation and implication are the focus processes of all activities in public relations.

advantage through configuring resources in a challenging environment in a bid to meet market

accepted and given in five definitions. These include strategy as position, ploy, system, pattern, and

The goal of every organization is to survive competition and become successful in the market.
Consequently, firms have public relations departments to ensure their goals are realised. The public
relations is mostly concerned with improving interactions through improved communication. PR
achieves this by employing different perspectives such as rhetorical and system aspects. Rhetorical
theory concerns the use of human symbol, whereas the system perspective is concerned with the
relationship between the environment and organization wherein public relations helps in
coordinating the two to ensure survival. The application cannot be done without tactics to ensure
efficiency. This is where public relations and strategy come out clearly. In the case study, the
rhetoric framing theory has been applied largely. Rhetorical scholars have

The United States Illogical Practice of Democratic Peace...
The idea of a lasting, ideally global, peace has been present in the minds of people for centuries.
The most notable formulation of this is Kant s vision of perpetual peace. He saw it as a condition
that needed to be maintained by politics between states with governments which represented society
and separation of power. From this basic framework stems the idea called democratic peace theory
(pg. 82). Democratic Peace Theory (DPT) asserts that democracies do not generally fight other
democracies because they share common norms and domestic institutions that constrain
international, state actors from going to war. Sebastian Rosato states, In practical terms democratic

The normative side of the theory, while powerful, can be a double edged sword. Implementing
the normative side theory can be dangerous according to an individuals or groups subjective
interpretation. The idea of global peace and security is so seductive that normative logic can be
used to justify war. Woodrow Wilson, a firm believer in Kant s ideas, told Congress, The world
must be made safe for democracy when asking it to declare war on Germany. Furthermore, the

Institutional Logic Institutional logic states, Democratic institutions and processes make leaders
accountable to a wide range of social groups that may, in a variety of circumstances, oppose war
(Rosato, pg. 587). The accountability of political elites wanting to stay in office means they must
be ready to discredit unpopular policies and align themselves with other elites who share the same
interests. Democratic states also allow for freedom of speech and a supposedly transparent political
process, meaning the mass public can monitor and rate the government s performance holding these
leaders accountable. However, Roasto states, because they are conscious of their

One day the husband remembered he left his loincloth on a bush so he ordered horseman to get
it, when they got there there was no castle. The husband went to the girl and talked, she said she s
sorry, she wanted to impress him but really she had no parents. The husband said that its all ok.
This story shows how its not good to lie about something, also it shows the love they still have

tell to children and usually there is a lesson or story the myth teaches. Another Myth is called
Shiva and the Sacrifice. Shiva s father in law held a sacrifice for the gods, all of the gods were
inited but only Shiva was not invited. Shiva got very angry being left out from the sacrifice that
he and some servants of his world attack the ceremony. They ate all the priests and threw blood
on the priests. While doing this, a drop a sweat fell onto earth and formed disease. Brahma then
promised Shiva could take part in all future sacrifices, in return Shiva made disease into many
ailments, this would trouble the humans and animals (mythencyclopedia.com,1). This myth was
created to show how Hindus believe disease came into this world and how something you do can
negatively affect other people. The afterlife Hindus believe in is much different but unique from
other beliefs. Hindu s believe life is cyclical. This means that they do not just die once but are reborn

Hospitalization would be required as she has expressed current suicidal thoughts to kill herself.
Since Brandy has had a suicidal plan already attempted, I would recommend to her family that I
be allowed to refer her to be immediately hospitalized for a minimum of 48 hours under the
psychiatric care of her psychiatrist. I would require that she is placed on a one to one suicide watch
either by a RN or mental aide technician while at the psychiatric hospital. I would also propose
that if she is taken off the recommended treatment due to clinical improvement she must be
regularly monitor according to hospital procedures. 2.) During her hospitalization, I would also
recommend that her psychiatrist prescribe Brandy medications as she will need pharmacotherapy
to be part of her treatment plan. I would recommend to her psychiatrist that she be placed on
antidepressants in order to decrease her suicidal ideation and depression. I would not recommend
that she be medicated with tricyclic antidepressants as they have been known to be lethal if a
patient overdoses. Prozac would be a recommended medication at a dosage of 20 40 mg per day or
Zoloft (50 200 mg per day). Paxil, Luvox, Effor, and Serzone are other antidepressants that could be
considered for her depression. 3.) After hospitalization, I would suggest that she continued her

Cost Estimation And Cost Analysis
Cost estimation challenges can be well addressed through adopting the following set of strategic
approach. The key steps undertaken during the given process drives right cost estimation and those
actions are as follows:
Documenting assumptions and best estimations: the assumptions can be documented in
advance and ensuring that best estimations is done using the right technique. There are various
methods of effort estimation and cost analysis however the right one should be selected on basis
project complexity and requirement. The documentation of assumptions can also help define clear
scope for the project that need to be achieved.
Activity quantification: all process steps and their related activities need to be quantified in
advance. The quantification to be done primarily on basis of human recourse requirement, technical
requirements, and effort needed to manage project complexity and other key factors.
Detailing out cost factors: the major cost factors for the project like labour and non labour
elements need to be analysed in advance. The deliverable against each cost factors should be
determined while aligning other key costs like overheads, inflation should be done accordingly.
Setting up logic between cost and activities: the logical process between the cost factors and
related activities need to be established so that right rationalizes to do cost estimation correctly.

Essay about American Airlines Competitive Strategy
Evaluate American s 1992 announcement of a new rate structure:
a. What changes did American make?
American Airlines (American) made four fundamental changes to its rates. First, it moved to a four
tier rate structure; American offered first class rates and three tiers of coach: full fare, 21 day
advance purchase and 7 day advance purchase. Overall, it expected to reduce coach fares by 38%
and first class fares by 20% to 50%. Though full fare coach prices dropped by about 38%, advance
purchase fares dropped by 6% when compared to the advance purchase tickets already being
offered. Through this fare structure, American also eliminated deep discount tickets. Second,
American eliminated the negotiated discount contracts of many large ... Show more content on

Travel agents therefore are both positively and negatively impacted. Small business customers are
positively impacted by the fare changes. Previously, the higher full fare prices discouraged small
business travel; small businesses would either decide against travel or incur the cost of a Saturday
night stay and purchase a reduced fare ticket. By reducing the full coach fares, small businesses
will be able to purchase more convenient flights at more economical prices. Large businesses, on
the other hand, may be negatively impacted. Since many large businesses had negotiated discount
rate contracts with airlines, the new full coach fare may be higher than these negotiated fares. For
large businesses that did not have negotiated contracts, the fares will be lower than the previous full
fare rate.
Leisure travelers overall will be made better off by the new fare structure. These travelers have
more flexibility and can take advantage of the advance purchase discounts and Saturday night stay
discounts. An exception to this is leisure travelers who had found loop holes in the old fare system
by using creative ticketing and waiting for deep discounts. These leisure travelers may pay higher
rates because the deep discounts will no longer be offered.
c. Why did each of American s competitors react to the fare changes the way they did?
Continental, Northwest and United Airlines intended to adopt part of the new fare system.

Western Governors University
Horizontal Analysis (A. 1. a) A horizontal analysis can be defined as the study of percentage
changes in comparative statements (Charles T. Horngren, 2008, p. 746). It is useful in
determining a company s financial stability. This section will analyze Competition Bikes
Incorporated s (CBI) percentage changes from years 6 to 7 and then 7 to 8. The report will include
an analysis of CBI s comparative income statement and balance sheet.
Between years 6 and 7 CBI s Net Sales increased by 33.3% for a change of $1,495,000. The

This is a weakness for CBI because it could indicate that they are not collecting from their buyers
in efficient or timely manner. When a company has large amounts of funds that are uncollected
they do not have the cash on hand to purchase raw materials and pay expenses, which can
negatively impact its ability to turn a profit. This will be examined further when the average
collection period is analyzed later in this report. Between years 6 and 7 CBI s Total Assets have
increased by 2.2% for a change of $93,741. This shows strength in CBI because by increasing their
assets they also increase their value. This can help instill confidence in current as well as potential
shareholders.
Between years 6 and 7 CBI s Accounts Payable and Notes Payable increased by 192% for a
change of $128,820. This indicates a weakness as the company has more than doubled their
debts between these two years. Significantly increasing debt can impact shareholder confidence,
which could impact the market value of CBI stock. Between years 6 and 7 CBI s Long Term
Liabilities decreased by 5.6% for a change of negative ($105,000). This indicates strength for CBI
as it demonstrates that the company as allocated monies to pay down their long term debt further
reducing their liabilities. Between years 6 and 7 CBI s Retained Earnings increased by 17.4% for
a change of $170,121. This is strength for CBI because it demonstrates its ability and willingness

Comparing Fear In The Tell-Tale Heart And The Pit And The Pen
Can fear actually be beneficial to us? It may be able to alert us to harm. It is a survival instinct
after all. On the other hand, fear can cause us to get carried away until we develop more serious
afflictions, such as paranoia or obsessions, causing us to make quick decisions that aren t well
thought out. Poe illustrates this dilemma in The Tell Tale Heart, The Masque of Red Death, and
The Pit and the Pendulum. Poe uses symbolism, irony, and figurative language to show how
paranoia affects the characters train of thought, and its consequences. Poe demonstrates the
downside of fearthrough his use of symbolism. This is presented through old manВґs eye from

This can be seen by how the narrator uses a simile to describe the Old ManВґs heartbeat. While the
narrator describes killing the old man, he stated, ВЁIt was the beating of the old manВґs heart. It
increased my fury, as the beating of a drum stimulates the soldier into courage (76). The narrator
convinces himself to kill the Old Man, and is convinced he is doing a courageous thing. Fear
had warped his mind so much that he thought murdering an innocent man was righteous. He let
his obsession grow until it totally distorted his judgement. The next example is an alliteration
used by the narrator in The Pit and the Pendulum. The narrator describes, My cognizance of the
pit had become known to the inquisitorial agents the pit whose horrors had been destined for so
bold a recusant as myself the pit, typical of hell, and regarded by rumor as the Ultima Thulme of

Plastics And The Plastic Age
The current period in human history is referred to as the plastic age (CГіzar et al 2014). Plastic is
synthetic polymers derived from petroleum (Vikas Dwarakish 2015), it is lightweight, inexpensive
to produce and hailed as an industrial achievement (Detloff Istel 2016). Moreover, plastic does not
decompose, the durable material simply breaks into smaller particles, pervading the water and
marine life (Detloff Istel 2016). Our current society has established a constant consume and discard
rhythm, fuelling the plasticeconomy . Marine plastic pollution mainly occurs from land based
plastic debris, comprised of: littering, incessant plastic bag use and inappropriate disposal
(Derriak 2002). Microplastics are pieces of plastic less than five millimetres in size (Detloff Istel
2016). These particles account for 92% of the plastics in the ocean (Shim Thomposon 2015).
Microplastics have become ubiquitous in the ocean, found as far as the Arctic and Antarctic seas
(Obbard et al 2014 as cited in Shim Thomposon 2015; Law Thompson 2014 as cited in Shim
Thomposon 2015). Plastic pollution is also significantly damaging the fragile marine ecosystem, as
well as massacring innocent marine creatures (Deltoff Istell 2016; Avio, Gorbi Regoli 2017).
Overall, preventing ocean plastic pollution is difficult, due to the large volume of production and
contamination, particularly microplastics, coupled with inadequate disposal practices of plastic.
In 2014, 311 million tonnes of plastic were produced (Detloff Istel 2016), and half was disposed
of within the year (Singh Sharma 2016). The most commonly used and plentiful polymers are:
high density polyethylene, low density polyethylene, polyvinyl chloride, polystyrene,
polypropylene and polyethylene terephthalate (Andray Neal 2009 as cited in Li, Tse and Fok
2016). These polymers account for 90% of total plastic production, and as a result are the most
common plastics found in aquatic environments (Andray 2011 and Engel 2012 as cited in Li, Tse
and Fok 2016). Plastic debris often migrates to form five subtropical gyres, large garbage patches
colloquially dubbed marine soup (Eriksen et al 2013; Weinstein 2009). It is estimated five to
thirteen tonnes of

Teenage Girls
As a matter of fact, teenage girls are not the only ones who fall victim to the ideal of beauty.
Teenage boys are going through very similar situations. Media and advertisements set their
standards for men to be tall, muscular, board upper body, v line and have beards etc. Neither
males nor females live without having standards set up for them by society and media. Widely
held perceptions of beauty and perfection can have a deep and lasting cultural impact on both
women and men. Some impact is that these standards will continue to exist in our future culture
and both genders will never feel comfortable in their own skin/body. Both men and women
would continue to judge themselves and their beauty. Magazines and advertisements usually
have images of men without their shirts in order to show off their muscles and to attract
customers. This makes members of society expect to see a six pack,v line and pectorals when a
male takes off their shirt. This gives teenage boys fear to take off their shirt when going to the
beach or smaller situations like going inside a pool because they are scared to be criticized for not
being muscular. Magazines display images of these fake models for both men and women which
creates intimidation. Study of mass mediamagazines discovered that women s magazines had 10.5
times more advertisements and articles promoting weight lossthan men s magazines did (as cited in
Guillen Barr.1944). The ideal of beauty targets women more than men. In

What Role Does Jutus Play In Jewish Religion
Every December in households all over the world, people of the Jewish faith gather around to
celebrate the joyous holiday of Hanukkah. Yet few realize that the foundations of this celebration
maybe traced on a series of bloody and violent events, which occur more than two thousand years
ago. At that time, Judea was a minor providence under the iron fist of a despotic emperor. His
relentless obsession to diminish and humiliate the Jewish religion would ignite a holy war.
Antiochus persecution would have being resisted by faithful Jews, the once who keep up their
traditions. Besides the religious motives, this opposition was also based on other social reasons:
supporters of Hellenism were mostly members of the wealthy classes: priests and nobles of
Jerusalem, therefore, when Jerusalem became a polis, in other words, a Hellenistic city or a city
state in ancient Greece, citizens no longer depended on being part of the same people through
circumcision practices, or observed the Sabbath and other laws of the Torah, but a criterion of
income and social position was introduced instead. This created a discontent in the middle and
lower class of the people. In these times of religious decay, a great military leader arose to... Show

Pharmacologic Management Of SCD Pain Case Study
Pharmacologic management of SCD pain entail a clear understanding of the pharmacology,

Acetaminophen has analgesic and antipyretic effects but it does not reduce inflammation (Botting,

Tramadol
Tramadol is a centrally acting synthetic non NSAID analgesic of the aminocyclohexanol group with
opioid like effects. Although the exact mode of action is not known, tramadol shows opioid activity
by binding to mu opioid receptors and monoaminergic activity through weak inhibition of
norepinephrine and serotonin reuptake. Tramadol can be tried alone for analgesia, but its efficacy
increases in combination with another non narcotic and narcotic agent. Tramadol infusion
combined with non opioids was effective to relieve moderate to severe pain due to VOC in SCD
(Erhan et al., 2007). Comparison of efficacy of tramadol and meperidine revealed that both are safe
and effective for emergency use in pain management of SCD patients (Uzun et al., 2010). A
retrospective study revealed that the co administration of tramadol and ketorolac in SCD patients
with VOC relieved pain and improved mood and sleep (de Franceschi et al., 2004). Further, addition
of scheduled oral tramadol to concomitant intravenous morphine and ketorolac, reduced
requirements of morphine and ketorolac in paediatric SCD patients (Borgerding et al., 2013).

pain management, especially if the pain is not managed by above non opioid agents. There are

Almost all cultures world wide have highly developed traditions of music and dance. According to

carry much importance within a culture. As do other artistic forms, music and dance reflect cultural

I don t have enough to do. Maybe I have time to think too much. Why don t we shut the whole
house off for a few days and take a vacation? (Bradbury 4) which shows that the mother was
getting overwhelmed and feeling like she was completely useless. Once the mother feels this way
the parents decide to shut down the nursery which causes chaos between them and their children
when they say, They screamed and pranced and threw things. They yelled and sobbed and swore
and jumped at the furniture... (Bradbury 13) which shows that the family is actually being torn
apart because of house/veldt. Bradbury uses foreshadowing through images of bloody/ torn up
wallets and scarfs to hint the inevitable end result of the parents when they let their children go in
the veldt without any consequences towards the end of the story. In one part of the story The Veldt

Demonetization of Currency Merits and Demerits of it in society and country
First of all what is demonetisation?
Demonetization of currency means banning of the particular currency and replacing it with a new
currency. In the current context it is the banning of the 500 and 1000 denomination currency notes
as a legal tender.
What was the objective behind it?
The Objective behind the Demonetization scheme in India is discussed below:
While the normal public all over India is stressed by standing in long ATM queues blaming the
Indian Government for their troubles, the government has introduced this scheme with some of the
superior motives for the benefit of the nation as a whole. Some of the reasons why the scheme was
introduced include:
To tackle the problem of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It will have added benefits to it as well.
However, if we compare the merits verses demerits, it will be safe to conclude that the former
outweighs the latter.
Even though there is suffering and agony among the masses right at the moment but the forecast is
that its benefits will be seen in the long run.
The government is taking all the necessary steps and actions to meet the currency demand and soon
the trial and tribulations of the people will be over with the smooth flow of the new currency
So we can say that it has both merits and demerits but in future we can say that itbhas positive
effect on country and its people. All in all, the demonetization is a bold step that is working its
way through ups and downs in India right now. It feels like a step taken by a mother (Mother
India) teaching its child (the public) a lesson and instil stronger values in it to ensure its bright
future. Demonetization can hence be termed as a necessary evil as of now and a way of paving its
way towards a more stable and economically stronger road for

Comparing Two Advertisements
As time progresses, many companies change the style in which they portray their advertisement. In
the two Chanel advertisements, one being from 1937 and the other being from 2007, many
comparisons and contrasts can be distinguished. Both ads are similar in their look and target
audience, while they also have different styles to them. The vintage ad is a more dark and gloomy
ad, while the modern ad is a more light and bright advertisement. The target audience of both
advertisements is women who want a perfumeto make them feel beautiful, and the purpose of both
ads is to persuade consumers of why Chanel is the best perfume to purchase. However, the
techniques of both advertisements are very different. Even though the advertisements were made in
two different centuries, they both share many commonalities. Neither advertisement contained a
slogan. However, both ads are selling Chanel No. 5 perfume and both ads display a design of the
perfume bottle. By doing so, this allows the audience to see a visual representation of what they
will be getting if they purchase the product. Also, the ad is using beautiful women that are wearing

The use of famous celebrities in the advertisements was a source of further persuasion of the target
audience, being that some women desire to be like those celebrities. Although the perfumes were
created many decades apart, they shared the same purpose, yet used different methods to do so. The
two ads shared many differences, one being the amount of textual information. During the days of
vintage advertisements, producers believed that the text was more important, whereas in modern
ads, producers believe that consumers will be sold on the picture rather than the text. Both
advertisement producers were able to clearly illustrate the product and its design, as well as their
target audience, thus strengthening the

Rhetorical Devices In The White Heron
Rhetorical Analysis of the White Heron Sarah Orne Jewett is my most favorite American author
uses regional details to make the events and themes of a narrative come to live for readers. The
White Heron , written by Sarah Orne Jewett, is best known for depicting of a relationship, self
discovery and loyalty with a wonderful setting of a rural in Maine. It explores this meaning by
describing a little girl s compassion for a white heron. It tells in sequence an encounter between
her and a bird hunter. She had to pick a side to be her friend between the bird and the hunter. At
the end, she refused to betray the heron, so humanity was served. The lead in event in The White
Heron takes place in the woods in Maine at 8 o clock in the evening. When I think of the
particular examples evoke visualization of the place, the leading of the story becomes very poetic
and the author practically brings the story of a little maid comes alive. For example, the first prose
states indirectly about a little girl, who was driving home her cow deep into the woods in the
sunset. Second, the sentences, [The tree] must truly have been amazed that morning; the old pine
must have loved his new dependent, mean that the woods love her; in addition, the author uses
contradictory to describe Sylvia. I can conclude that Sylvia s spirit is stronger than her small body...

The story has a deeper meaning through, expressed in the involvement of much symbolic
representation. The author paints a vivid and descriptive image of the young heroine and her
surroundings in the story. In addition, the author describes the idea of self discovery how Sylvia
flourishes in the wilderness in the quote, She was just thinking how long it seemed since she first
came to the farm a year ago. Through her refusal to reveal the heron s location, we learn that some
things in life are more important than

Oppression Against Jews And Anti-Semitism
Throughout our history, public issues have always been around and discussed. There have been
issues in society which still to this day are ongoing, and others which come and go depending on
the time, environment and audience. Some public issues can be seen as positive, whereas others
have negative connotations attached, and can affect society. Anti Semitism relates to a hostility
against Jews. This can be seen through the history of the Jewish people, and the many persecutions,
trauma and racism they have fought over thousands of years. Some has been documented, and
others passed down from generation to generation. This has a damaging effect on the Jewish people
as individuals, and others in the community who are affected by this on going exploitation. A
current and recent issue was the Charlottesville riots in America, where a group of white
supremacists went after the Jews. They chanted through a university in Virginia, Jews will not
replace us , because they are scared that the Jewish people are going to take over the media, jobs,
education and manipulate the minds of everyone throughout the society, that is why they are the
only white people that are constantly targeted by the white supremacists.
This specific public issue contributes to oppression at all three levels, which includes the personal,
cultural and political dimensions. Oppression, which is a control of inferior groups within society
by an influential group (Mullaly 2010), can occur on many different

The Spread Of The Great Chicago Fire Of 1871
On the date of October 8, 1871 the Great Chicago Fire was spreading through the city of
Chicago. Rain was a big facture in the fire, there was no rain in the 2 weeks leading up to the
fire. Plus before the fire, the people made most of the city of wood so all the dry wood was all
flammable. Back then they really didn t have a real fire department and the firefighters didn t
have a transportation system so they couldn t get to a fire until late. The people didn t take well
care of the river nearby so the river was polluted. As some theory s say is that one night a women
was milking a cow. With the lantern next to the cow and the woman the cow kicked the lantern

Credit Sesame Commercial Meaning
The ad that caught my ear was a commercial on the Logo TV Channel (Channel 254 on Dish
Network) during an episode of The Nanny that was promoting the product Credit Sesame. The
commercial begins with a woman sitting on a couch saying, It seems like everybody wants to
give you a free credit score these days. Okay, I got my score. Now what? Then, she explains that
Credit Sesame is a service that gives consumers a free credit score, but also shows them what is
impacting their score and gives them a strategy to improve their credit score. The woman also
highlights the fact that Credit Sesame can also suggest credit cardsthat can help consumers save
money. Finally, she ends by joking, I mean if Credit Sesame can do all that, I wonder if they... Show

Even though the advertisement was only thirty seconds long, the advertisement stuck with me
because of the humorous line at the end of the commercial that caught my attention. Another
marketing strategy used in the ad was using fear. The ad seemed to be designed to invoke a sense
of fear into consumers that just knowing their credit score was not enough, and that Credit Sesame
would be the perfect solution to subside those fears of the unknown. Additionally, Credit Sesame
seems to be using the marketing strategy of repetition. With the commercial being only thirty
seconds long, Credit Sesame can air the advertisement more often I have seen this commercial often
on this channel and others. The advertisement was also slightly louder than the television show I
was watching, which is a famously unpopular marketing strategy; however, the volume change was
only apparent to me when I reviewed the ad a few times for this assignment. Finally, the advertisers
used bright colors and graphics to make the television commercials eye catching. I do not own the
product that the advertisement is promoting, but these marketing strategies have almost swayed me
into checking out Credit Sesame. However, after learning about restraint in making purchases in
Personal Finance, I will do some research beforehand to make sure that the product is legitimate

Interviewing Techniques And Their Use Of Body Maps
Interviewing Techniques and their Accuracies: Body Maps and their Use in Court or Clinical

Name: Claire McGregor
Lab Class Number: 131

Lab Demonstrator: Lianne Atkinson
Date: Thursday 13th August 2015
Abstract
The present experiment s aim was to test how well children and adults can use body maps to show
where another person was touched. This experiment was also used to highlight how using body
maps as an interview technique could produce some inaccuracy and may not be a reliable way of
getting information. In this experiment a video was shown to both a group of adults between
the ages of 18 23 years old and a group of children between 5 6 years old with a man who was
helping to dress a little girl named Antonia as a pirate. Both groups of participants were then asked
to record where they saw Antonia get touched in the video on a body map. The variables measured
were the groups mean number of correct touches reported and a mean accuracy score. The
hypothesis for the experiment was that adults would score higher on the number of correct touches
and have a bigger accuracy score than the children. This experiment supported the hypothesis, as the
results were conclusive showing adults had both a higher number of correct touches and accuracy
score.

American History Reflection
Before I took this class, American History, my childhood was influenced by movies and books
about Cavalry and Indians. My young mind developed a likeness to the Cavalry on horseback. It
was impressive to look at that I wanted to be one of them. Needless to say, I am pro Cavalry. To
me they represent strength, gallantry, and savior of the oppressed.
The film, Trail of Tears, and the lecture taught me a different side of the US Cavalry. My thought of
them as defender for those who cannot defend themselves became blurry. Maybe, as soldiers, who
sworn an oath to obey the President of the United State, they were following orders. For my
personal reflection, it is unbelievable that American history included death march and ethnic
cleansing. It is difficult to fathom that these events occurred America fought the British and drove
them away. I was assuming that the unification of American citizens would follow the revolutionary
war. But, when the Cherokee Indians were forced to their lands in Georgia and march towards
west of Mississippi, with soldiers and rifles aimed at them, it was a disturbing scenario to me. It
was even called the death march, perhaps because a quarter of the Cherokee Indians perished
during the march, in which many were elderly and children. The question that came into my mind
was, why did President Andrew Jackson picked the winter months to force the Cherokee Indians to
move. He could easily make it happen, but he did not.
On a personal reflection,

  • 2. Transitional Objects Of A Child In this section we will discuss transitional objects and what role they play in the development of a child. A transitional object is a physical object that helps toddlers to transit emotionally from a stage of dependence to a stage of independence. The toddler thinks that the object is part of it, and this transition stage enables the toddler to realize that the mother is not me as well as separateness of other objects. These objects become vitally important to a toddler when going to sleep and as a defense during anxiety. A transitional object plays an important role in replacing the mother child bond (Winnicott, 1953). A toddler assumes rights over the transitional object and excitedly loves and cuddles it. It should not be changed ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Good mothering enables initial emotional development. Transitional objects enable the continuation of the emotional development by being the first instance of the initiation of a relationship between the toddler and the world (Wincott, 1953). Observations of the earliest experiences of a healthy toddler are expressed by its relationship with its first possession which is always a transitional object. Transitional objects also belong to the realm of illusion which is the basis of initiating development. This stage is made possible by the capacity of a mother to let the toddler have the illusion that what it creates really exists (Winncott, 1953). Between the age of six and eight years, a child goes through a lot of physical, motor, emotional and behavioral growth where different attitudes and values are developed. This age group is associated physical developments such as slower growth rates of about eight pounds and 2 and a half inches per year, more muscle growth and less fat development than in earlier years, and an increase in strength (National Childcare Accreditation Council, 2008). A child also starts using gross and fine motor skills in sporting activities. Fine motor skills include using the small muscles that are found in the hands, arms, and fingers to use and control tools and materials. Gross motor skills involve controlling the head, trunk, legs, and arms. An early childhood professional ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. William Blake s London Essay example William Blake s London Works Cited Not Included William Blake s London is a representative of English society as a whole, and the human condition in general that outlines the socio economic problems of the time and the major communal evils. It condemns authoritative institutions including the military, royalty, new industries, and the Church. Blake s tone creates a feeling of informative bitterness, and is both angry and despondent at the suffering and increasing corruption of London s society. Blake s sophisticated use of notation like capitalization, his specific change in meter, and the point of view all clearly develop London. The point of view in which Blake employs to London is significant to the understanding... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Here Blake is exposing the innocence that has been corrupted due to the present evil. This line fills the readers mind with a dreadful image of children being stripped away of their innocence. Here Blake specifically targets children, which are looked upon as pure and guiltless to help get his point across to the reader. Blake s genius is evident throughout the poem where his changing meter directly correlates to the point he is making at the moment. The meter is changed in the last line of the first stanza from iambic tetrameter to anapestic dimeter possibly to stress the section (Damon, 1965) The third stanza is anaspectic for the first foot but then reverts to iambic for the last two feet of the line. The speaker begins here by condemning main foundations like the Church and the military capitalizing both words. ?The Chimney sweepers cry? is basically an exposure to the child labor prevalent during this era. Once again he uses a child to symbolize an innocent victim terrorized by higher authority. Also, these cries are accusations against the Church. Blake uses the phrase ?blackening Church? to expose the Church?s function as a tyrant rather than a source of enlightenment (Lambert Jr., 1995) This line illustrates the Church both blackened by soot and the exploited people who are forced to clean it. At this point it is clear to the reader that Blake?s representation of the church is ironically evil. It forces oppression on the people of the society. He ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

That stuff can drive you nuts . More: Well, I believe when statesmen forsake their own private conscience for the sake of their public duties they lead their country by a short route to chaos. Act I, Scene II. Our ability to discern what is morally right and wrong speaks volume about where our values lie. Down at the Waterfront, the Longshore men live by the code of DND...deaf and dumb.. where it is everyman for himself . Although they suffer, they are content to abide by this code as it promises day s worth of work and money to provide for their family. If I was a wiseguy, I wouldn t have been a longshore man for 30 years. I m poorer now than when I started . It is tacit among the men that any immoral act to speak against the union is highly discouraged, as it would greatly impact their accustomed lifestyles. These men stay immune to their conscience don t say nothing, keep quiet and you ll live long . Similarly to the Common Man who d rather be as a live rat than a dead lion . The jailer invokes this excuse to justify not living by his moral principals when More desperately pleads for more time with his family. What Is The Influence Of The Cosby Show On American Culture The Cosby show created a deliberately positive image of blacks thus the decision for Claire Huxtable to be shown as a lawyer and Cliff Huxtable being portrayed as a doctor. When The Cosby show made its debut in 1984 it was the first television show to show a successful upper middle class black family. The Cosby Show introduced Americans to a more realistic image of black Americans that dispelled old stereotypes that plagued America. • 6. Paradox In Romeo And Juliet The story of Romeo and Juliet is an ironic and cruel story. The characters go through plenty of trouble because of their love. The characters use literary devices to show the love they have for each other. Shakespeare use juxtaposition, oxymoron, and/ or paradox as indirect characterization to describe their complex personalities. Romeo is passionate when it comes to his elaborate feelings; at first, Romeo just fell in love with Juliet for her beauty, but he overcomes that and loves all of Juliet s qualities too. Romeo shows his passion for Juliet by using an oxymoron. He describes how amazing she is compared to a worthless man like him: And, touching hers, make blessed my rude hand (1.5.49). When Romeo falls in love with Juliet, he finds out that she is a Capulet and the society will not allow them to get married: Is she a Capulet?/ O dear account! my life is my foe s debt (1.5.116 117). Romeo uses a paradox by telling the audience that his life is in his enemy s hands to express his unfortunate love for Juliet even though she is his enemy. He also tells Juliet that he will do anything for her if it means being with her: With love s light wings did I o erperch these walls;/ For stony limits cannot hold love out,/ And what love can do, that dares love attempt, / Therefore thy kinsmen are no let to me (2.2.66 69). The wings represent Romeo s love for Juliet and the stony limits are society. Juliet also tells Romeo that she is willing to do anything for her love with Romeo: Deny thy father and refuse thy name!/ Or, if thou wilt not, be but sworn my love,/ And I ll no longer be a Capulet (2.2.34 36). Government does not have My College s Back Last week, while having my morning coffee, I overheard a conversation between a college lecturer and a well known secretary in The Ministry of Finance. I relaxed in my seat as the conversation between the two raged on. This same discussion is but a fragment of a national discussion that has been ongoing in this country for many years, and the debate is whether or not The Bahamasis economically, financially and socially developed enough to maintaina university. This situation has become a worrying problem indeed.According to her article, We Do Not Need A University , Ms. Pam Burnside discusses the issue of The Bahamas being a small independent nation who wants to ameliorate its tertiary level institution with inadequate financial resources. She further explains that the Bahamas is too greedy and is ashamed of the College that we already have in existence. In addition, she argues that The Bahamas does not need a university and simply cannot afford it. In response to Burnside s arguments, I most certainly agree with her. • 9. Salmonell A Major Cause Of Foodborne Illness Worldwide Salmonella enterica sub enterica are a major cause of foodborne illness worldwide. Contaminated food products such as pork, meat, milk, fruits, vegetables, egg and egg products are the common vehicles of Salmonella infections (Hur et al., 2012). It is estimated that gastric illness caused by Salmonella spp. accounts for 93.8 million cases and 155,000 deaths worldwide each year (Majowicz et al., 2010). This statistic clearly indicate that Salmonellainfections are public health and financial global burden for both industrialised and non industrialised countries. In Australia, majority of human disease outbreaks of Salmonellosis are associated with consumption of contaminated egg and egg products (OzFoodNetWorkingGroup, 2012, 2015). Several intervention strategies have been implemented on a worldwide scale to reduce the risk of Salmonella contamination and has been discussed in the literature review. However, emergence of antimicrobial resistance (AMR) strains of Salmonella, egg contamination, biofilm formation and the decreased susceptibility of Salmonella biofilms to commonly used antimicrobials are the major obstacles in this journey. In spite of this, it is vital that studies concerning Salmonella must ensure the effective prevention and control of this zoonotic pathogen. This thesis has investigated different pathogenicity aspect of Salmonella enterica spp. recovered from egg farm environments of Australia and the key findings of in vivo and in vitro experiments are ... • 10. Substance Abuse And Low Education It is no doubt that the Appalachian region is discredited of its merits, despite the perceived negative social problems associated with the area. What many outsiders of the area fail to acknowledge is that many of the same problems of Appalachia plague other regions of the United States as well. In Appalachia, there are many problems that can be associated with the area and usually the people from the area are grouped into a poor environment a lower socioeconomic class. Across the region there is a wide social problem on low education rates and relatively high substance abuse statistics. What others also fail to see is that the Appalachian region has a plethora of services to offer along with a rich heritage embedded in its people. The good people of the community have worked together to overcome the past and current issues of substance abuse and low education by forming different groups to offer for the public to take part in. Substance abuse is heavily associated with the region of Appalachia. Appalachian people are looked at negatively for being categorized with drug and alcohol addictions. The issue has increased since coal mining and other industrial work places are declining in the area (Sodomick, 2014). People resort to drug trade to make profit since the career field is declining in the area. Because substance abuse has become so popular, overdose and countless deaths have occurred more often as well. The past few years, it has been a horrific trouble with the ... But this speech isn t about Forrest Gump, even though he is awesome, this speech isn t about him. This speech is about me. So let s get started. I have a bag, and this specific bag has no sentimental value to it. I grabbed a random bag and made sure everything fit. This ordinary bag has three things, my pin board, a tiara from my parents wedding, and a photo of my dad and I. I ll start with my favorite, the pin board. I ve been collecting hat pins since I was little. My dad brought me back a bunch of pins from overseas when he was a Marine. Some examples are Operation Iraqi Freedom, a South Korean Flag, and a Japanese Flag. The majority of them are from the U.S. Since i ve been able to walk I ve gone on vacations with my grandparents, that stopped in 5th grade. I have pins from Florida, South Carolina, and even Niagara Falls. My latest pin is from milking a cow at the state fair. This pin board is special to me because every pin has a memory to it. • 12. America in the 1920 s America in the 1920s, also known as the Roaring 20s or New Era, was a time of great changes and huge growth. America was being a more modern nation, and a return to normalcy was being seen after the Progressive Movement and First World War. Politically, the American government was seemingly conservative, but experimented with different approaches to public policy and foreign diplomatic policy. Economically, it was a time of tremendous growth and new forms of organization. Socially, the American popular culture reshaped itself to reflect the increasingly industrial, urban, and consumer oriented society. The 20s were a time of a distinguishably new culture and profound change and excitement, but it wasn t great for everybody. After 1922, there was a long period of prosperity and economic expansion. People had more money to spend, and prices weren t rising very much. The key to the economic boom was new technology. The automobile industry was one of the most important industries in the nation, and led to stimulated growth in other industries, such as steel, rubber, glass, and especially oil companies. Road construction booms in response to automobiles, providing more jobs for workers and helping the economy even more. A few years later I, transitioned to Anne Arundel County, Maryland where I worked at a Title I school in Annapolis, this school was an urban suburban schoolwith more cultural, ethnical, and social economical diversity. Currently, I work in Prince George s County, Maryland, at an urban school located in Hyattsville, with a large amount of cultural and ethnical diversity. This easy of adoption to different school climates may be attributed to my natural leadership quality as an Adaptive Aggressive (AA); one who aggressively pursue a goal, according to the Null s Natural Life Energy Theory. As a natural adaptive aggressive, I am an asset to any organization, able to contribute characteristics such as; resourcefulness, social awareness, self assuredness, success oriented abilities, and my virtue of enthusiasm. Macbeth hated having such a small amount of power and he began to desire more. Macbeth then encounters the three witches that tell him all about the power that he is going to gain. First they speak of him becoming the Thane of Cawdor, and then the king. Hearing all this makes Macbeth excited yet he does not believe it to be possible that he will acquire so much power. Each Tribe had its own king that lead and governed them, as opposed to being one, single united body. Tribes of Celts would often protect themselves in cases of battle against enemies in something known as a Hill Fort, which was, of course, situated on top of a hill they were defensive settings, as living at the top of the hill gave them the advantage in battle of seeing their enemies approach and being able to prevent them as they climbed up the hill. However, it is suspected that these were not permanent accommodations and may have been used as assembly points for tribes to withstand a short siege, as they contained no sources of water. Consequently, firms have public relations departments to ensure their goals are realised. The public relations is mostly concerned with improving interactions through improved communication. Rhetorical theory concerns the use of human symbol, whereas the system perspective is concerned with the relationship between the environment and organization wherein public relations helps in coordinating the two to ensure survival. The most notable formulation of this is Kant s vision of perpetual peace. He saw it as a condition that needed to be maintained by politics between states with governments which represented society and separation of power. From this basic framework stems the idea called democratic peace theory (pg. 82). Democratic Peace Theory (DPT) asserts that democracies do not generally fight other democracies because they share common norms and domestic institutions that constrain international, state actors from going to war. Sebastian Rosato states, In practical terms democratic peace theory provides the intellectual justification for the belief... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The normative side of the theory, while powerful, can be a double edged sword. Implementing the normative side theory can be dangerous according to an individuals or groups subjective interpretation. The idea of global peace and security is so seductive that normative logic can be used to justify war. Woodrow Wilson, a firm believer in Kant s ideas, told Congress, The world must be made safe for democracy when asking it to declare war on Germany. Furthermore, the justification for war in Afghanistan in 2001 and Iraq in 2003, allowed George W. Bush and Tony Blair to state they are bringing democracy to Afghanistan (pg. 20).Subjective interpretation of what democracy is can be used to validate aggression. Institutional Logic Institutional logic states, Democratic institutions and processes make leaders accountable to a wide range of social groups that may, in a variety of circumstances, oppose war (Rosato, pg. 587). The accountability of political elites wanting to stay in office means they must be ready to discredit unpopular policies and align themselves with other elites who share the same interests. • 30. Plastics And The Plastic Age The current period in human history is referred to as the plastic age (CГіzar et al 2014). Plastic is synthetic polymers derived from petroleum (Vikas Dwarakish 2015), it is lightweight, inexpensive to produce and hailed as an industrial achievement (Detloff Istel 2016). Moreover, plastic does not decompose, the durable material simply breaks into smaller particles, pervading the water and marine life (Detloff Istel 2016). Our current society has established a constant consume and discard rhythm, fuelling the plasticeconomy . Marine plastic pollution mainly occurs from land based plastic debris, comprised of: littering, incessant plastic bag use and inappropriate disposal (Derriak 2002). Microplastics are pieces of plastic less than five millimetres in size (Detloff Istel 2016). These particles account for 92% of the plastics in the ocean (Shim Thomposon 2015). Microplastics have become ubiquitous in the ocean, found as far as the Arctic and Antarctic seas (Obbard et al 2014 as cited in Shim Thomposon 2015; Law Thompson 2014 as cited in Shim Thomposon 2015). Plastic pollution is also significantly damaging the fragile marine ecosystem, as well as massacring innocent marine creatures (Deltoff Istell 2016; Avio, Gorbi Regoli 2017). Overall, preventing ocean plastic pollution is difficult, due to the large volume of production and contamination, particularly microplastics, coupled with inadequate disposal practices of plastic. In 2014, 311 million tonnes of plastic were produced (Detloff Istel 2016), and half was disposed of within the year (Singh Sharma 2016). The most commonly used and plentiful polymers are: high density polyethylene, low density polyethylene, polyvinyl chloride, polystyrene, polypropylene and polyethylene terephthalate (Andray Neal 2009 as cited in Li, Tse and Fok 2016). These polymers account for 90% of total plastic production, and as a result are the most common plastics found in aquatic environments (Andray 2011 and Engel 2012 as cited in Li, Tse and Fok 2016). Media and advertisements set their standards for men to be tall, muscular, board upper body, v line and have beards etc. Neither males nor females live without having standards set up for them by society and media. Widely held perceptions of beauty and perfection can have a deep and lasting cultural impact on both women and men. Some impact is that these standards will continue to exist in our future culture and both genders will never feel comfortable in their own skin/body. Both men and women would continue to judge themselves and their beauty. Magazines and advertisements usually have images of men without their shirts in order to show off their muscles and to attract customers. This makes members of society expect to see a six pack,v line and pectorals when a male takes off their shirt. This gives teenage boys fear to take off their shirt when going to the beach or smaller situations like going inside a pool because they are scared to be criticized for not being muscular. Magazines display images of these fake models for both men and women which creates intimidation. Yet few realize that the foundations of this celebration maybe traced on a series of bloody and violent events, which occur more than two thousand years ago. At that time, Judea was a minor providence under the iron fist of a despotic emperor. His relentless obsession to diminish and humiliate the Jewish religion would ignite a holy war. Antiochus persecution would have being resisted by faithful Jews, the once who keep up their traditions. Besides the religious motives, this opposition was also based on other social reasons: supporters of Hellenism were mostly members of the wealthy classes: priests and nobles of Jerusalem, therefore, when Jerusalem became a polis, in other words, a Hellenistic city or a city state in ancient Greece, citizens no longer depended on being part of the same people through circumcision practices, or observed the Sabbath and other laws of the Torah, but a criterion of income and social position was introduced instead. In this story, Ray Bradbury creates a family that are particularly wealthy through material possessions and how they become dispersed through the possessions they own. Through the use of symbolism, irony, and foreshadowing, Ray Bradbury establishes the idea that overindulging in materialistic possessions can result in grave consequences. There have been issues in society which still to this day are ongoing, and others which come and go depending on the time, environment and audience. Some public issues can be seen as positive, whereas others have negative connotations attached, and can affect society. Anti Semitism relates to a hostility against Jews. This can be seen through the history of the Jewish people, and the many persecutions, trauma and racism they have fought over thousands of years. Some has been documented, and others passed down from generation to generation. This has a damaging effect on the Jewish people as individuals, and others in the community who are affected by this on going exploitation. A current and recent issue was the Charlottesville riots in America, where a group of white supremacists went after the Jews. This experiment was also used to highlight how using body maps as an interview technique could produce some inaccuracy and may not be a reliable way of getting information. In this experiment a video was shown to both a group of adults between the ages of 18 23 years old and a group of children between 5 6 years old with a man who was helping to dress a little girl named Antonia as a pirate. Both groups of participants were then asked to record where they saw Antonia get touched in the video on a body map.
