Chronology of Employee Performance Management in the...
Overview
Performance management is the systematic process by which an agency involves its employees, as
individuals and members of a group, in improving organizational effectiveness in the accomplishment
of agency mission and goals. | Employee performance management includes: * planning work and
setting expectations, * continually monitoring performance, * developing the capacity to perform, *
periodically rating performance in asummary fashion, and * rewarding good performance. |
The revisions made in 1995 to the Governmentwide performance appraisal and awards regulations
support sound management principles. Great care was taken to ensure that the requirements those
regulations establish would complement and not conflict ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Organizations need to know who their best performers are.Within the context of formal performance
appraisal requirements, rating means evaluating employee or group performance against the elements
and standards in an employee s performance plan and assigning a summary rating of record. The
rating of record is assigned according to procedures included in the organization s appraisal program.
It is based on work performed during an entire appraisal period. The rating of record has a bearing on
various other personnel actions, such as granting within grade pay increases and determining
additional retention service credit in a reduction in force.Note: Although group performance may have
an impact on an employee s summary rating, a rating of record is assigned only to an individual, not to
a group. | | | | In an effective organization, rewards are used well. Rewarding means recognizing
employees, individually and as members of groups, for their performance and acknowledging their
contributions to the agency s mission. A basic principle of effective management is that all behavior is
controlled by its consequences. Those consequences can and should be both formal and informal and
both positive and negative.Good performance is recognized without waiting for nominations for
formal awards to be solicited. Recognition is an ongoing, natural part of day to day experience. A lot

Analyzing Erikson s Eight Stages Of Psychosocial Development
Erik Erikson talks about theories regarding the design and schema of a structure of a person s
personality. Erik Erikson was a psychologist who studied a person s ego. He talked about within the
ego, there are conflicts that could occur with the role of the culture and in society. According to Erik
Erikson, there are eight stages of psychosocial development that a person will go through. Erikson
believes that the ego will flourish as it achieves with success to be determined to handle a critical
situation that are clearly in a sociable setting. This will help for a person to build or form a sense of
trust or mistrust in a person. This also will help for a person to establish himself in society. Each of the
eight stages forms and beginning

Arctic Tern Research Papers
The Arctic Tern The Arctic tern is a seabird that belongs to the tern family, Sternidae. The species
spends the northern summers in the colder regions of Eurasia and North America. It migrates to the
southern hemisphere during the northern winter. The Arctic tern breeds between May and July in the
Arctic and subarctic regions of Asia, North America and Europe, as far south as Massachusetts. The
Arctic tern has the K reproductive strategy because it only lays two eggs a year, each with a high
probability of survival into adulthood. The population size generally stays the same and equal
throughout the age demographics, a common characteristic of K reproductive strategists. The
community of the Arctic tern contains a wide range of species, as ... Show more content on

It s all about survival. When the Arctic tern enters the southern hemisphere, summer starts over and
temperatures stay mild and within the tern s range of tolerance. Most Arctic terns spend the first
month of their migration in the north Atlantic ocean eating and collecting energy for the long trip
ahead. Some migrations have been over 44,000 miles long round trip, with the birds rarely stopping
for rest and food. The specific reason these animals migrate so far is widely unknown, although it is
assumed for survival or breeding purposes. Some scientists suggest that it s because of the rich [polar]
feeding grounds that they travel so far. If the migrations performed by this organism were to stop, the
population would decrease rapidly because the temperatures in either one of their habitats will drop so
low that they will be outside the Arctic tern s limits of tolerance and the birds would freeze to death.
Arctic terns also provide a great source of pest control when they eat insects and worms during their
migrations. This would then be lost if the Arctic tern stopped migrating. The Arctic tern has an annual
mortality rate of 18%, according to a study in the Farne Islands. Over 50% of the species will live past
their 30th birthday, with an average lifespan of 20 years, an anomaly for birds, who normally live

Mike Memoly Is A Private Accountant
Mike Memoly is a private accountant that I chose to interview. I was able to get his contact
information from my dad since his daughter and my sister play on the same soccer team. Over the
Martin Luther Jr. Holiday where we got a three day weekend I went home and got the chance to
interview him in his office at LBA realty in Irvine, California. Memoly was not always in private
accounting. After graduating from Binghamton University in New York, he received an offer to work
at Ernst and Young. Where he continued to work for 9 years.
Memoly initially did not have any intention of joining a big four firm and becoming a public
accountant. Rather, he heard the best way to get into the FBI is with an accounting degree. In order to
achieve his ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Property accountants typically go straight from school into private accounting. He explained that this
type of accountant engages the most in the topics we learn in intermediate accounting courses.
Property accountants have the most flexible hours since they know when their deadlines are so they
can plan accordingly.
The second type of employee is an investor/fund level accountant. These employees are usually
acquired to the company from public accounting firms. They are responsible for much more advanced
accounting and work closely with the firm s financial statements. Investor level accountants are more
likely to have their CPA. They also deal with much more complex deadlines, which accounts for their
more complex hours.
The third and final type of employee that work under Memoly are employees who go directly into tax
and work with complex tax returns. According to Memoly, have a different personality type than the
other employees at the firm. He credited with having a much more complex mindset. This is
something I have heard a few times throughout my recruiting process when exploring accounting with
a specialty in tax.
Memoly had explained during the interview that in his opinion it is much easier to get a job in private
than in public accounting. He also explained the choice between private and public accounting is
ultimately dependent on what

The Pros And Cons Of Black Ghettos
With the abundance of government programs available to the ghettos are often misused and of course
are abused by those trying to avoid working or by others who really do not need such services. With
those problems plentiful the government should enforce a checks and balances program to make sure
such programs are not abused and if so penalize the abusers by reducing benefits, force persuade them
to return to work, or cut them off from benefits immediately which would seem very harsh for their
families as well as the abuser. So basically it is a Catch 22 when it comes down to government
assisted programs. These are just a few issues that can influence an outsider s view of ghettos but then
when one hears the word ghettos they have their own preconceived notion what ghettos are and what
they should look like along with how the people would behave as well. Of course the influence varies
according to the observers perception and beliefs especially if the explanations about black ghettos
have been liberal bias. For example Duneier said From a conservative s perspective, such explanations
are unsatisfying because they leave little room for the black community to take responsibility for
problems and pathologies and instead lay almost all blame on whites. (Duneier, 2017, p. 230). For this
reason that many blacks believe that their problems are the fault of the whites and vice versa. When in
fact it is the individual themselves that bring on their own problems whether

Bodybuilding Controversy
Bodybuilding and Steroids: An Ongoing Controversy
Throughout many generations as well as the present day, bodybuilding has been a much favored sport
in the fitness industry. The question first begins with what a sport is determined to be. The definition
seems to be: a human activity capable of achieving a result requiring physical exertion and skill,
which by nature, is competitive (Kennedy 121). Conceivably, bodybuilding fits the definition;
However, the primary problem that bodybuilders, the industry, and just the name, bodybuilding, in
general face are the numerous controversial issues about the usage of anabolic drugs commonly
referred to as steroids. The FDA has banned any and all steroids, causing them to be illegal; Yet, in ...

Tren Xtreme, Mass Xtreme, and Estro Xtreme are among the supplements cited by the FDA as
containing steroid like substances. Under the law, dietary supplements are defined as, products that
contain minerals and herbs, and do not claim to prevent, mitigate, or cure specific illnesses (Shmidt
par.15). Thus, the FDA recommends and lists regular, legal foods, which are effective in gaining
muscle mass and weight loss. These foods are listed: cottage cheese, lean ground beef, soy, eggs,
chicken, fish, and vegetables. Lastly, Andrew Shao, the vice president for the Science and Regulation
Council of Responsible Nutrition, working with the FDA, states that it is very difficult to ban all
substances proven illegal in an industry that strives off of them, making 2.8 billion dollars in sales
every year (Shmidt par.17). They cannot apprehend everyone who takes dietary supplements and
anabolic steroids, but are doing their best to make a difference by promoting healthier ways to
maintain a well and safe structured body. Controversial to the FDA, Tina Chandler, who is a master
trainer and a nationally known woman bodybuilder, stated that although the FDA is correct about the
adverse effects of dietary supplements, they are erroneous when stating that they are ineffective. In a
face to face interview, Mrs. Tina Chandler stated, I believe the FDA wants people to think

Mainstreeter Law Case Paper
When starting a new law firm, there are a variety of expenses. Some are a one time start up fees, and
others will be reoccurring. By far the biggest expense will be purchasing an office building. The office
space Mainstreeter Law hopes to purchase is a two story house in which the entire first floor has been
converted into a traditional 3 office layout. The second floor is a 2 bedroom apartment that is totally
separated from the first floor offices and includes its own entrance in the back. The location and size
of this office are ideal. It is in downtown Sauk Centre, and the 3 offices allow Mainstreeter Law room
to grow. At $159,000, it is a substantial investment, however, because Mainstreeter Law is buying
instead of renting, they will be able to build equity with each payment. The monthly mortgage
payment on a 15 year fixed loan with a rate of 4.18% would be $1,196 per month. While this sounds
like a lot, Mainstreeter Law would be able to rent out the upstairs apartment to partner Nicholas
Adams for $600 per month. This cuts Mainstreeter Law s month mortgage payment to only $600. ...

not include salaries for any support staff. At this time, Mainstreeter Law does not intend to hire any
support staff, such as paralegals. As the firm grows, however, this will become another expense. The
average yearly salary for a paralegal in Central Minnesota is roughly $36,000. As for partner
compensation, the partners will not pay themselves a set yearly salary. Their compensation will come
from whatever surplus profit there is. End of the year bonuses will be distributed based off of the

Anxiety Essay
Anxiety is one of the most common mental illnesses effecting nearly 15 million people. Symptoms of
anxiety can vary from minor to major effects depending on the victim. Teenager Georgiann Steely has
had anxiety since a child (Landro 1). There are many types of anxiety ranging from social to phobic
anxiety. Anxiety affects many people in today s society. To understand and treat it, one must look at its
causes, the effect on the victims, and how it is currently treated.
Throughout the years, the amount of people diagnosed with anxiety has increased. Because of this,
many are trying to figure out its causes. Many people do not fully understand anxiety as a whole,
thinking that it is a sporadic or one time occurrence. Anxiety is a disorder where ... Show more content

Throughout the past years medical research has advanced concerning mental illnesses. Treatments for
anxiety has been created based on research found on how to tackle anxiety. A common treatment is
medication. Two common medications for anxiety is serotonin reuptake inhibitor, and serotonin
norepinephrine reuptake inhibitor. Although other drugs are used, these are the most common (
Treatment ). This suggests that since medications are the most common, more severe symptoms may
need extra treatment. Anxiety has multiple treatments including psychotherapy. Psychotherapy has
multiple branches, one being cognitive behavioral therapy, which focuses on management of
symptoms and skills to help relaxation. Another would be cognitive restructuring, which enforces
positive thinking, along with coping plans for certain situations (Landro 2). This passage suggests that
psychotherapy takes a personalized approach for treating anxiety. Although the treatments main focus
is to better the patient, it leaves a lot for the victim s family and future. Treatments make take a while
to help, which leaves victims feeling worse ( Depression 2). This can lead one to conclude that
because episodes are likely to occur, families must be extra careful to watch and support the victim in
the future. Anxiety treatments range from medication to therapy. Victims may experience relapses in
the future and it s important to continuously check up on

Evolution Of The Modern Era Of Skateboarding
Prior to the days of Dogtown, skateboarding was dead. However, as soon as the Dogtown culture
came alive, so did the modern era of skateboarding. As a result of surfing, the California drought of
the 1970s, and the film work and photography of Craig Stecyk, this once dead sport has risen from the
dead for good. It all began in the early 1970s when Dogtown, located in Venice Beach, California was
home to a secret surfing cove. This area was constantly populated by pyromaniacs, drug addicts,
artists, and of course surfers , but most importantly the Zephyr surf team. This team was known as The
mafia of the waves (Peralta, 2002). While surfing on the coast, this team relentlessly practiced new
and unique moves on the beachfront. Little did they ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Each one helped to expand growth for the extreme sport already growing in popularity.
First off, the accident of architecture was inevitable. As years went on, the minds and creativity of
skaters was bound to evolve. The boys from Dogtown did just that. With reference to my second
point, these skaters took advantage of Mother Nature. When the California drought of the 1970s
occurred, they made use of the architecture that was not being used. Seaside pools became more than
just an empty unusable piece of land built underground, but a bowl for skaters to develop their
innovation for the future of the sport (Hayes, 2005).
The availability of television time also had an impact on the rise of skate. While the status of
skateboarding was taking off, so was television and sport. The 1980s marked the introduction of
innumerable network options (Cable s Story, 2015). Not long after in the mid 1990s, the X Games
kicked off and included skateboarding as one of its activities. From that point on the skateboarding
market continued to flourish as more and more television shows came out about skating, along with
the creation of video game such as Tony Hawk s Pro

Genome Editing Essay
Genome editing of germ line cells using CRISPR/Cas9 system
Recent studies suggest that genome editing of germ line cells is an effective strategy for mutated gene
correction in sperms and oocytes for the inhibition of onset of inherited disorder. The first time, germ
line genome editing in human by CRISPR/Cas9 system , was carried out to correct mutation of HBB
(Beta globin) gene in zygote of β thalassemia patients by homologous DNA recombination (HDR)
[80, 81]. Embryonic genome editing utilized in the treatment of such monogenic diseases prior to birth

Because PGD usually is carried out by gametes prepared from parents. But parents who is confirmed
by PGD to have a high risk of transmition of inherited genetic mutation to their children and want to

children.Nowdays germ line genome editing by programmable nuclease such as Crisper/cas9 is the
most useful tool to treat genetic diseases with high risk of inheritance mutation transmition.
Unresolved ethical problems still exist and are the main reason for delay onset of clinical trials in this
field. Large animal models can be utilized for a variety of monogenic diseases, particularly monogenic

gRNA composed of chimeric RNA. Chimeric RNA is composed of crRNA and tracrRNA. They are

Autodidactic And Active Learner-Active Learning
Autodidactic, Active Learner Active learning is a learning style whereby the student is tasked to
inquire, gather, analyze and perform higher order reasoning. The active learning strategy attempts to
engage the student on a spectrum of communication types. Active learning stimulates different regions
of the brain and the simultaneity ties them together. For instance reading activates the visual cortex,
listening the temporal lobe, writing the cerebellum, analyzing the prefrontal lobes. This is also know
as whole brain learning. This is aptly described in the adage Cells that fire together, wire together. The
student that is able to learn independently of a formal class is called a self directed learner or

Types of Channels in Marketing
Channel levels Most businesses use third parties or intermediaries to bring their products to market.
They try to forge a distribution channel which can be defined as all the organisations through which a

of selling its products to intermediaries? After all, using intermediaries means giving up some control
over how products are sold and who they are sold to. The answer lies in efficiency of distribution

we packed our things fairly quickly and made the decision to drive to a friends house. Later that day,
we showed up to their house with the idea that it was not going to flood the area. The next morning, I

inside the house and I knew that we would not be back in our home for a very long time. Next,
everyone in the house was told that we needed to sandbag the house because the flood might reach the

Theories Of Criminal Behavior
Understanding why crime occurs requires a special desire to put together the puzzle of the human
mind. Behavior can not be determined by one factor, but influenced by a party of many factors.
Scholars have argued that not all individual differences are completely represented in criminal
populations. For example, individuals who are impulsive, daring, and aggressive are found to be more
indulging in criminal populations than individuals who delay gratification, are cautious, and are
sensitive to the needs and wants of others. Criminology refuses to acknowledge the relationship
between personality and crime are connected. This omission lies

The lack of this cognitive development can be linked to low morality within friends, family, and
others in the community. Kohlberg concluded that we learn morality from those individuals we
interact with on a regular basis. These individuals consist of our friends, family, and others in the
community. He claimed that a subgroup of our population has criminal thinking tendencies. As a
result, there is a thin line between low morality in this cognitive development. Another perspective of
personality and traits were argued by a number of well known criminologists. They argued that the
root causes of crime are not linked to high unemployment or bad schools but deeply rooted in the
human personality and its early experiences. Low intelligence, an impulsive personality, and a lack of
empathy for other people are among the leading characteristics of people at risk of becoming
criminals. Hans Eysenck completed numerous studies on the impact of personality characteristics on
criminality. He theorizes that criminal behavior may be a function of both personality differences and
conditioning. He also theorized that some individuals are simply more difficult to condition than
others. Since we develop a conscience through conditioning, it is not surprising that antisocial
behavior is more likely when this process breaks down for some reason. Eysenck argued that there are
two factors that play a part poor condition. They consist of physiological factors and personality

College Football Benefits
There is a serious inequality in the world today. Groups that put blood, sweat, and tears into their
cause, day after day, have once again been excluded from what they want most. That is, of course, the
college football playoff. The playoffs, which have only been in effect for two years, has already led to
controversial decisions on which four teams to include in the games. There needs to be an expansion
in the college football playoff to give the lower ranked teams a chance to show their worth, promote
equality between conferences, and prepare athletes for professional football. This expansion will also
help lead to a more equal and intriguing post season experience for teams and fans. First, some
background information on the college football ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A main reason they think this is that by doing so, teams that are not deserving of the college football
playoffs would be allowed in. They have a point in that some years, there truly are only four or five
teams that have a sufficient resume to battle for the trophy. But there are more often years where there
are anywhere from seven to twelve teams that are close in ability. Although it would be most fair to
change the amount of teams allowed to play from year to year, this would never happen with the
preparation the NCAA has to make. The benefit of the doubt must then go to the larger amount of
teams, as it is the most fair in all cases. It would be most beneficial to allow the bigger group of teams
in the years there are enough, and have to fill the years there is not. This will also make for more
entertaining games to watch at the close of the season. As this shows, the benefits to this system
outnumber the negatives. Expansion of the college football playoff is necessary because it gives the
lower ranked teams a chance to show their worth, promotes equality between conferences, and
prepares athletes for game play in professional football. It will also allow more entertainment for fans,
and a more exciting post season experience. Let s now come together and end this terrible inequality
happening in our own country, and bring peace to college football fans

My Take

promoting skin colour discrimination in any way. The cream contains a lot of ... Show more content

As I have oily skin, most of the moisturizers feel very heavy and uncomfortable on my skin, but the
Debelle Fairness Cream is very light weight so whenever I use it, It feels as if I have applied nothing
at all! The cream also has a mild fragrance which is very pleasing to the nose. On the packaging it s
mentioned that you should use the cream twice a day to get the best results out of it, but I generally
use it only once in a day (out of my laziness, I forget to apply it for the second time! ) and it still
keeps my skin moisturized for almost whole day! Dry skinned beauties may feel the need of applying
it more than once or twice though. The best thing is that the cream is suitable for all types of skin, but
if you have sensitive skin then please check the ingredients list before using this

Rhetorical Analysis Of Antony s Speech
Antony gave the most effective funeral speech to thoroughly convince the Roman people to side with
him and rebel against the conspirators. In order to accomplish this, Antony uses the persuasive
techniques logos, ethos, and pathos.
To start his speech, Antony opens with some kind words about Caesar. Antony uses ethos by speaking
kindly of Caesar and saying, He was my friend, he was faithful and just to me (line 81). Antony
appears to be a honest and humble man mourning for his friend. By saying Brutus is an honorable man
(line 83), Antony places himself on the crowd s side because up to this point the crowd is in favor of
Brutus. Antony has made himself seem more trustworthy which also utilizes ethos. He then continues
to speak of Caesar s great deeds that do not support Brutus s claim of Caesar s ambition. For example,
Antony tells of Caesar saying, He brought many captives home to Rome whose ransoms brought
wealth to the city (line 83). This is all Brutus wants Antony to say but Antony continues and asks the
crowd, Is this the work of an ambitious man (line 89)? Antony is using logos to influence the Roman
people because he provides a counterexample to the claims of Caesar s ambition. Furthermore, Antony
places doubt in Brutus by saying, Yet Brutus says he was ambitious, and Brutus is an honorable man
(lines 91 92). This use of logos allows Antony to prove Brutus wrong, even if he does not say it out
loud.
Antony utilizes pathos by drawing sympathy from the

One On One Observation
After reading chapter thirteen and fourteen, I have chosen to do my observation on a show called One

Breanna, who was the daughter, Arnez, who was Breanna best friend, Spirit, who was Breanna and
Arnez s best friend, and Breanna s dad, whose name was Flex. Breanna has an outfit that looks way
back from the 90 s. She is kind of the laid back member of the group. Her favorite part of the outfit is
her earring hoops because she wears the in almost every episode. Breanna s gestures look very fun.
She loves to get very hype and dance a lot. As the volume was on mute, I observed that in this
episode, she was very happy and laughed a lot. Breanna s facial expressions was that throughput the

expression seemed to be a little serious. Spirit s dress outfit says that she loves to make her own style.
Spirit is a fashion designer in the show. She loves creating her own outfit. In this episode, her outfit

Global Warming Position Paper
Although some believe that Global Warming has been created due to manmade pollutants, I believe
that Global Warming is a natural process that has been accelerated due to the excess emissions of
pollutants from nature and manmade devices into the atmosphere. The world has been said to be on a
cycle of global warming and cooling, this process can neither be stopped nor prevented, but it can be
accelerated with the addition of non natural emissions from automobiles and factories; because this is
a natural process, even if constraints were to be put on the amount of pollutants released into the air

Slowing the process of global warming would allow us, as a worldwide power, to take preventative
measures that could cut back the amount of damage that global warming can cause though it would be
hard, if we could cut back on work hours of large factories and put together more public transportation
for the working class then we could slow global warming within the next few years. This idea, if
enacted, has the potential to harm the economy of many nations, because the working hours would be
cut in factories that employ thousands of employees, but it also can allow for scientists and engineers
to come up with a plan that could prevent/lower the amount of risk we have environmentally from
being impacted by global warming and its effects. It has the potential to harm the economy of other
nations, because shortening the amount of hours that their factories are allowed to run can raise
production time and cost this would lead to the increase in price of items, because it would take more
money and time to produce these goods rather than if they were able to work for a longer amount of
time and produce more goods in this time period. The reward outweighs the risk, though; this is
because if global warming is not slowed down, then the sea level can rise sooner than we are able

The Importance Of Ethics In To Kill A Mockingbird By...
Aristotle once said, We do not act rightly because we have virtue or excellence but we rather have
those because we have acted rightly. The meaning behind Aristotle s quote is that being ethical is
important because it is what a person does, that defines a person. Morality and ethics play a huge role
in life, especially doing what is right over what will be accepted, and is shown throughout To Kill a
Mockingbird by Harper Lee. Lee uses the novel s moral compass, Atticus Finch, and his foil, the
hypocritical Maycomb townspeople, to show the moral obligations society has to do what is right
rather than what is accepted. Through Lee s use of unmoral choices she shows that society needs to do
the morally right thing. One instance of doing what will be accepted over what is right, is when the
jury rules Tom Robinson guilty, during the trial, when he clearly wasn t. The evidence of why Tom

Tenant Education
Tenant Education: a Treatment, not a Cure In Evicted: Poverty and Profit in the American City, by
Matthew Desmond, it is stated that landlords in the city of Milwaukee evict roughly 16,000 adults and
children each year, amounting to approximately 16 families evicted daily through the court system,
and many more removed by other, even less pleasant means (4). Many communities across America
have started to offer tenant education programs to teach renters how to manage their money and their
relationships with landlords in order to avoid eviction. Tenant education is certainly not a bad thing,
but is not a complete solution to the problems it attempts to address, because it does not address the
landlord s roles in housing disputes and because ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Desmond describes in Evicted Milwaukee s remarkable decline in employment, starting with almost
no unemployment in the postwar years to having an unemployment rate in the double digits, partially
due to an exodus of manufacturing jobs. The remaining jobs paid less, since they were in the service
sector rather than unemployment (24). With the decline in well paying jobs in many parts of America,
many tenants will not have the money to pay the rent no matter what and how much knowledge they
are given about how to manage it. An effective program would have to somehow help the tenants find
safe housing, initial funding, and a job to ensure their knowledge can then be applied to stay housed in
the long term. In Evicted, Arleen is not depicted doing anything that would seem substantial to get her
evicted, unless it is to be considered her fault that a man kicked down her door when her sons threw
snowballs at his car (Desmond 2). However, it is revealed that Arleen and her children have been
without a home many times (Desmond 3). Arleen and tenants like her will not benefit substantially
from participation in tenant education programs, because their problems do not come from ignorance,
but from the

The Characters Of Talents In The Chosen By Chaim Potok
American singer and actress Ethel Waters once said, We are all gifted. That is our inheritance.
Whenever people think of someone as gifted they tend to think of superpower type qualities. During
the book The Chosen, written by Chaim Potok, it depicts several different characters pertaining
different talents. Characters such as Reuven, Danny, or even Mr. Malter all possess abilities that help
them in life. The types of gifts displayed in the book are not what people usually think of as special
gifts, but a special talent can seem as little as forgiving easily and genuinely care for others well being
or as big as recalling information at a moments notice. In The Chosen, characters such as Reuven,
Danny, and Mr. Malter all demonstrate certain gifts that they maintain. To begin with, Reuven Malter
demonstrates many of his different types of gifts throughout the story. Two of the key traits Reuven
reveals are the gifts of compassion and the mind for logic. In the beginning of the book Danny tries to
kill Reuven by hitting him with a baseball, however he later comes and apologizes to him and Reuven
forgives him (Potok, 70). Not everyone, when provided with a chance, will forgive someone who
wronged them. Instead of harboring onto his frustrations Reuven graciously forgives Danny, an act
that takes great compassion to fulfill. Another example of Reuven s gifts in the book is his ability to
solve logic problems, Well, they try to deduce all of mathematics from

Themes In Letter From Birmingham Jail
Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. s Letter from Birmingham Jail was a powerful and eloquent letter that
effectively argued the point that segregation is fundamentally unjust and should be fought with
nonviolent protest. This letter, through describing the injustice taking place during the civil rights
movement also provided some insight about Dr. King s view of the government in the 1960s. Three
mains themes present in Dr. King s letter were religion, injustice, and racism. Dr. King repeatedly used
the first theme, religion, to support his arguments throughout the letter. For instance, he used a
religious comparison to explain his presence in Birmingham, saying just as the Apostle Paul left his
little village of Tarsus and carried the gospel ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In general, the idea of justice was key in Dr. King s letter, as he explained that his actions were
essentially driven by his desire for justice, in this case in the form of racial equality and desegregation.
Finally, racism was a major theme, and it was even the cause of the letter s writing. For example, Dr.
King said that though it is unfortunate that so called demonstrations are taking place in Birmingham at
this time, but . . . it is even more unfortunate that the white power structure of this city left the Negro
community with no other alternative (78), describing how it was racism that forced his actions which
led him to be jailed. Dr. King further described the immense racism present at the time by noting that
There have been more unsolved bombings of Negro homes and churches in Birmingham than in any
other city in this nation (78). In his, letter, Dr. King seemed rather dissatisfied with the local
government, particularly the one of Birmingham, Alabama. He openly expressed his desire to see Mr.
Conner [a local official] defeated [in an election] (79), and even though after the election, Connor was
replaced by a man named Boutwell, Dr. King said While Mr. Boutwell is much more articulate and
gentle than Mr. Connor, they are both segregationists, dedicated to the task of maintaining the status
quo (79), describing his continued dissatisfaction with the local government. Though Dr. King

Gesture Is An Important Part Of Language
Gesture is an important part of language the world over. Apart from sign languages, gestures, or
talking with one s hands, largely go unnoticed by a majority of speakers. That being said, there are
some gestures that are so integral to a language that ignoring them is impossible. Such gestures can
widely vary across languages and the world, and making a mistake with them can be disastrous. To
alleviate some of this confusion, incorporating gestures into dictionaries of a specific language or
country may be helpful, as well as indexing and recording such gestures. This process, though, may
prove to be a complicated endeavor. Gestures, due to their ubiquitous use and arbitrary meanings,
should be indexed conclusively into dictionaries of their corresponding languages and possibly even
resources of their own. Gesture is an incredibly effective way to convey an idea and are an essential
part of many languages. In most languages, gesture serves as a way to emphasize speech or to say a
short phrase without speaking. They have been conventionalized in society, and while they do not
have all the same linguistic properties as words do, their meaning within their culture is undeniable.
As Rousseau says, one speaks more effectively to the eye than to the ear. (8) It can be hard to mistake
something as simple as a head nod or a wave in greeting. Gestures such as the ones above and others
such as thumbs up, now ingrained in social media sites such as Facebook, are everywhere in

The Viscosity of Liquids
39. The Viscosity of Liquids

Define viscosity and viscosity coefficient
Outline the method to measure viscosity using Ostwald viscometer
Determine the average molecular weight of a polymer
Determine the surface concentration of 1 butanol in aqueous solution
Measure the distribution coefficient of a solute betweenn two solvents
39.1 Introduction
Viscosity, one of the transport properties, arises because of intermolecular attractive and relatively
long range forces. Viscosity coefficient ([pic]), a specific constant characteristic of a liquid could be
expressed by the following equation of Poiseuille.
[pic] ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The constant a is sensitive to the shape and varies from zero for hard sphere or 0.5 for random coils to
2.0 for rigid rods.
Variation of specific viscosity of a solution [pic] (specific viscosity or reduced viscosity) is defined as
[pic], where [pic] is the viscosity of solution i and [pic] the viscosity of pure solvent) with the
concentration of solute is given by the equation:
[pic] (39.7)
where, c is concentration of the polymer in g/mL and K is a constant.
The determination of average molecular weight of polyvinyl acetate in acetone and methanol uses the
following Procedure:
Prepare solution of polyvinyl acetate in acetone containing approximately 1 mg/ mL. From this
prepare four more solutions of 0.2, 0.4, 0.6, 0.8 mg/ mL by dilution. Measure the specific viscosity of
all the four solutions as described above.
Repeat the above experiment with solution of polyvinyl acetate in methanol.
Plot [pic] versus c and calculate [pic] and K from equation (2). Also, using the empirical formula (1)
and constant of K and a from the table given below, determine the molecular weight of polyvinyl
acetate in these two solvents.
|Solvent |K |a |
|Acetone |21.4 x 105 |0.68 |
|Methanol |38 x 10 5 |0.59 |

could open up an opportunity to learn new technologies and thereby an advancement in personal and
professional development. In order to move forward and keep ahead, I believe an organization need
change leaders who have capabilities to have their workforce go from change avoidance to change
acceptance. One of the most significant strengths of an effective leader is the ability to create a
positive work climate where people are energized to do their best work, free of unnecessary
distractions (Cronkite, n.d.). During this part of the change process I feel the change leader would
have better success if he would be tactful and harness the skills of others by working in a collaborative
rather than hierarchical way. Leadership in an organization involves instilling motivation and
enthusiasm in the employees. An effective leader knows how to manage and tackle difficult situations
and people. Many reasons can cause a force of change in organizations but I feel it s up to change
leaders to manage these planned and unexpected changes. (Word count: 548) Hard Systems Models of

In term of globalisation, it is more likely to be the world wide factory in manufacturing industrial era.
The Alibaba s success is not just about Alibaba itself but the trend of globalisation which brought
Alibaba on political and economic fronts. Also, it would not be successful without China government
s support. Most importantly, in order to succeed internationally, Alibaba first needed to count on large
domestic scale to develop itself strong enough. They have learnt this lesson from the impact of culture
difference especially when Alibaba almost went bankrupt in 2000 because they were too eager with

War Against Terror and Human Rights Essay
War Against Terror and Human Rights
The Human Rights Act 1998 took full legal effect across the English and Welsh legal systems on
October 2nd 1998. The Act, allows people to claim a number of the rights and freedoms that are set
out in the European Convention on Human Rights. The Government had high hopes that when the act
was passed it would create a Culture of Human Rights within the United Kingdom.
The principal aim of the Human Rights Act 1998 was to give statutory and formal protection in UK
law to a set of clearly distinguishable rights. It was also to allow people to claim their rights before
their own courts without having to take long drawn out and costly cases to the European ... Show more

A victim includes anyone directly affected by the actions or non actions of one of the above public
authorities. Whilst this directly affected principle is absolute, a victim can also include someone not
necessarily directly affected by the actions of a public body, but indirectly affected. For instance, a
person who is likely to be put under surveillance by the police will be able to call upon the Human
Rights Act, even though they have not yet had their privacy interfered with.
Where it is established that a Convention Right has been violated, the victim may be able to gain an
injunction to stop the violation, force the public authority to take action, take judicial review
proceedings or obtain damages and compensation.
The Human Rights Act affects the different types of legislation in a number of ways. Primary
legislation, which is Parliamentary Statute, the most sacred type of English law, has to be bought into
accordance with the Convention Rights. If primary legislation does not comply with the Convention
Rights then a Declaration of Incompatibility is issued. This can only be given by the higher courts and
allows the offending legislation to be changed and put inline with the Convention Rights easily and
quickly. If a statement is not issued, then the case proceeds to the European Court of Human Rights.

An Example Of Foreshadowing In The Leap
1. An example of foreshadowing in The Leap occurs when the narrator recalls her mother telling her
that she would be amazed at how many things a person can do within the act of falling . This
foreshadows their leap from the fire. Erdrich builds suspense throughout the story through multiple
references to falling and being saved leading to the expectation that something bad will happen to the
narrator. Erdrich also creates suspense through her use of words, such as describing the storm which
caused the death of Anna s husband as a deadly gale . 2. An example of contrast in the story is that
between the first time Anna makes a leap in order to protect the life of her unborn child, and the final
leap in which Anna saves the narrator from the fire. During the first leap, Anna makes a decision in the
attempt to allow her baby a full life; however, the child ends up dying only a few months later. In the
final leap, Anna once again must rescue her child, and this time succeeds in allowing her child a long
life. Erdrich is using contrast here to illustrate the importance in not letting past failures prevent her
from taking a risk. If she had let fear of failure prevent her from taking that chance again, her child
would have died. If she had let fear of failure ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

A Report On Early Spring Planting
Early spring planting is a great way to enjoy an abundance of early produce that normally wouldn t be
available until the late spring or early summer. Many smaller gardens can be started indoors with
setups as simple as a few herb seeds in a windowsill planter or as complex as a multi light hydroponic
system. One of the most common mistakes that happen with starting your spring garden indoors is
stating too early. Conditions must be timed exactly right so that as the indoor plant becomes ready for
transplanting to a full bed, the conditions outside will at least allow transplanting the now grown
seedlings to cold frames. Once the weather turns and the last frost has gone, the cold frames are
removed and the plants will be well on there way to a quick spring start. This can give you the chance
in some areas to allow for two or even three growing seasons throughout the year. Simple systems and
complex indoor growing operations all have one thing in common; they need light. Without sunlight
through a windowsill or high powered light bulbs, plants just won t grow. In fact very few organisms
can survive without sunlight, and those that do live in the sea or caves. A good source of light is
crucial to the success of starting your spring garden indoors. When starting from seeds, you ll need to
germinate them first. Most seeds can be started in simple containers like paper cups, but some prefer
peat cups or biodegradable cups. The choice doesn t matter so long as they are

England became the most developed capitalist country in the end of the XVIII century. Cotton,
machinery and iron industries made England the leader of the world. Development of the slave trade,
the exploitation of natural resources of the colonies and the accumulation of monetary wealth brings
tremendous benefits to the bourgeoisie.
There were incredible changes in society, progress in technology and making reforms during the
nineteenth century. In the early ninetieth government sought to suppress free political expression
through fining editors and giving them prison sentences, sensitive material had to pass official censors

Summary Of Modern Technology In The Movie I Robot
I Robot, directed by Alex Proyas, is a film that shows how modern technology will advance within the
years; making people question their everyday lifestyle. In I Robot, the main character Detective Del
Spooner, had us follow his journey on questioning societal expectations. This all began from the
creation that Dr. Alfred Lanning, who created the robots as well as V.I.K.I. The main NS5 robot in the
movie is named Sonny, who questioned his purpose of life as a robot. This Film was designed to have
us question, understand the rules and order in situations and evolve with society. In this film, we can
recognize that Det Del Spooner isn t too keen on having robots around to help with their tasks. He
believes that by having the NS5 robots do our tasks makes us as humans less dependable on ourselves.
We don t evolve and become stagnated in our own society waiting for the robots to do the chore. Det
Del Spooner witnesses how everyone around him fully rely on their robots for their tasks. One scene
where Det Del Spooner observes a robot running with a purse. Of course, he assumed that the robot
just stole the bag. Afterwards, it is uncovered that this robot was not stealing but running to give his
owner her purse. Consequently, the robot was just doing his job and helping his owner. This displays
how Det Del Spooner is very cautious and doesn t believe that the robots will maintain the laws set up
for them when created. The laws were set up to protect the humans, to obey the

Essay On Scapegoat
Have you ever heard of a scapegoat? Most of us have used one or one s to get out of something, that
meaning good or bad. People in the past have also used someone or something as a scapegoat(The
salem witch trials the townspeople blamed witches and the devil for their bad crops, The people to the
New World blamed the indians for them dieing off by not knowing how to live off the land, even
people today blame their siblings to get out of their punishments/chores, etc.)
My scapegoat on the other hand is my white, fuzz ball of a cat or other animals, and nature. Me being
the eldest child, I kept to myself and I am very shy. I hide in my room a lot and the only person I can
talk to is my fluffy cat or I can go outside and watch and play with ... Show more content on

I had to grow up faster than what my siblings are required to, due to I am expected to have more
responsibilities, be more responsible, be the good influence, and something they look up to. Having
those scapegoats is another thing that make me the person I am today, I can look at things deeper than
others. I can look at something different then what someone else sees, when they see a disaster, I see
potential. By my parents keeping me home all the time allows me to see that they are just trying to
help and show me what I need to expect in the future. They are giving me a heads up and just trying to
help even if it sucks some of the time. There is plenty of negatives for being the eldest but there is just
as many positives. I can sit back and watch other people s mistakes and learn off of those. I can have a
mud wrestling match in the front yard with my brother. I can get to know my siblings better and
become more close with them even if they don t like me sometimes because I have to be the bigger
person and tell them no when something isn t right.
Like I said before, yes my cat is my scapegoat and yes I do talk to him. I am the eldest child and yes it
does suck at some points but it does have it s advantages. Those things are what makes me the person
I am today. That is a part of my personal

Buy When It Comes To My Strength
is a slowly becoming a strength of mine. When to comes to having a good relationship with my boss I
need to feel confident in what I am doing. For me this comes with experience. Before applying for a
degree in Higher Education, I am planning to seek out any Universities I can work at that only need an
undergraduate degree. I know that Temple does have this opportunity and depending on the campus
branch, Penn State does as well.
After graduation in Graduate School, I am likely to have a boss (due to having an assistantship, which
will give me hands on experience.) I foresee this to be a different kind of relationship because I will
not be paid for this opportunity instead it will be reimbursement taking classes. As the book states,

When I am a new employee, I am slightly hesitant to try new things. Before even trying, I expect to
fail at whatever I am trying for the first time. Then I worry about the consequences of my imaginary
actions. Yet once I have tried something new and fail, I realized that I am more likely to remember
what I learned. I use this as one of my strengths. When learning to drive a car, I was hesitant to take
the hands on approach right away. Once I realized that this is how I learn, once I spend time out of my
head and contracting one what could go wrong, I am a hands on learner. To this day, I am still learning
that mistakes come in all different shapes and sizes. For example, if I print out something for work
and I used the wrong size paper I am not likely to be terminated. In the future, I am likely to be very
aware to make that mistake same again. Mistakes are a natural part of life, making them helps me
know better for the next time. Before going to an interview, I try to prepare myself the best I can by
looking at the company s website. Sometimes I will even take a tour to get a feel of the company s
climate and feel confident that I will not get lost driving there or get lost within the building. Ever
since I started working, I did these things automatically without realizing it was a strength. From my
interview with both Catie and Christina, they mentioned

  • 2. Chronology of Employee Performance Management in the... Overview Performance management is the systematic process by which an agency involves its employees, as individuals and members of a group, in improving organizational effectiveness in the accomplishment of agency mission and goals. | Employee performance management includes: * planning work and setting expectations, * continually monitoring performance, * developing the capacity to perform, * periodically rating performance in asummary fashion, and * rewarding good performance. | The revisions made in 1995 to the Governmentwide performance appraisal and awards regulations support sound management principles. Organizations need to know who their best performers are.Within the context of formal performance appraisal requirements, rating means evaluating employee or group performance against the elements and standards in an employee s performance plan and assigning a summary rating of record. The rating of record is assigned according to procedures included in the organization s appraisal program. It is based on work performed during an entire appraisal period. The rating of record has a bearing on various other personnel actions, such as granting within grade pay increases and determining additional retention service credit in a reduction in force.Note: Although group performance may have an impact on an employee s summary rating, a rating of record is assigned only to an individual, not to a group. | | | | In an effective organization, rewards are used well. Rewarding means recognizing employees, individually and as members of groups, for their performance and acknowledging their contributions to the agency s mission. A basic principle of effective management is that all behavior is controlled by its consequences. Those consequences can and should be both formal and informal and both positive and negative.Good performance is recognized without waiting for nominations for formal awards to be solicited. • 4. Arctic Tern Research Papers The Arctic Tern The Arctic tern is a seabird that belongs to the tern family, Sternidae. The species spends the northern summers in the colder regions of Eurasia and North America. It migrates to the southern hemisphere during the northern winter. The Arctic tern breeds between May and July in the Arctic and subarctic regions of Asia, North America and Europe, as far south as Massachusetts. The Arctic tern has the K reproductive strategy because it only lays two eggs a year, each with a high probability of survival into adulthood. The population size generally stays the same and equal throughout the age demographics, a common characteristic of K reproductive strategists. The community of the Arctic tern contains a wide range of species, as ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It s all about survival. When the Arctic tern enters the southern hemisphere, summer starts over and temperatures stay mild and within the tern s range of tolerance. Most Arctic terns spend the first month of their migration in the north Atlantic ocean eating and collecting energy for the long trip ahead. Some migrations have been over 44,000 miles long round trip, with the birds rarely stopping for rest and food. The specific reason these animals migrate so far is widely unknown, although it is assumed for survival or breeding purposes. Some scientists suggest that it s because of the rich [polar] feeding grounds that they travel so far. If the migrations performed by this organism were to stop, the population would decrease rapidly because the temperatures in either one of their habitats will drop so low that they will be outside the Arctic tern s limits of tolerance and the birds would freeze to death. Arctic terns also provide a great source of pest control when they eat insects and worms during their migrations. This would then be lost if the Arctic tern stopped migrating. The Arctic tern has an annual mortality rate of 18%, according to a study in the Farne Islands. Over 50% of the species will live past their 30th birthday, with an average lifespan of 20 years, an anomaly for birds, who normally live between 2 and 5 ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 6. The Pros And Cons Of Black Ghettos With the abundance of government programs available to the ghettos are often misused and of course are abused by those trying to avoid working or by others who really do not need such services. With those problems plentiful the government should enforce a checks and balances program to make sure such programs are not abused and if so penalize the abusers by reducing benefits, force persuade them to return to work, or cut them off from benefits immediately which would seem very harsh for their families as well as the abuser. So basically it is a Catch 22 when it comes down to government assisted programs. These are just a few issues that can influence an outsider s view of ghettos but then when one hears the word ghettos they have their own preconceived notion what ghettos are and what they should look like along with how the people would behave as well. Of course the influence varies according to the observers perception and beliefs especially if the explanations about black ghettos have been liberal bias. For example Duneier said From a conservative s perspective, such explanations are unsatisfying because they leave little room for the black community to take responsibility for problems and pathologies and instead lay almost all blame on whites. Bodybuilding Controversy Bodybuilding and Steroids: An Ongoing Controversy Throughout many generations as well as the present day, bodybuilding has been a much favored sport in the fitness industry. The question first begins with what a sport is determined to be. The definition seems to be: a human activity capable of achieving a result requiring physical exertion and skill, which by nature, is competitive (Kennedy 121). Conceivably, bodybuilding fits the definition; However, the primary problem that bodybuilders, the industry, and just the name, bodybuilding, in general face are the numerous controversial issues about the usage of anabolic drugs commonly referred to as steroids. Under the law, dietary supplements are defined as, products that contain minerals and herbs, and do not claim to prevent, mitigate, or cure specific illnesses (Shmidt par.15). Thus, the FDA recommends and lists regular, legal foods, which are effective in gaining muscle mass and weight loss. These foods are listed: cottage cheese, lean ground beef, soy, eggs, chicken, fish, and vegetables. Lastly, Andrew Shao, the vice president for the Science and Regulation Council of Responsible Nutrition, working with the FDA, states that it is very difficult to ban all substances proven illegal in an industry that strives off of them, making 2.8 billion dollars in sales every year (Shmidt par.17). They cannot apprehend everyone who takes dietary supplements and anabolic steroids, but are doing their best to make a difference by promoting healthier ways to maintain a well and safe structured body. Controversial to the FDA, Tina Chandler, who is a master trainer and a nationally known woman bodybuilder, stated that although the FDA is correct about the adverse effects of dietary supplements, they are erroneous when stating that they are ineffective. By far the biggest expense will be purchasing an office building. The office space Mainstreeter Law hopes to purchase is a two story house in which the entire first floor has been converted into a traditional 3 office layout. Two common medications for anxiety is serotonin reuptake inhibitor, and serotonin norepinephrine reuptake inhibitor. Although other drugs are used, these are the most common ( Treatment ). This suggests that since medications are the most common, more severe symptoms may need extra treatment. Anxiety has multiple treatments including psychotherapy. Psychotherapy has multiple branches, one being cognitive behavioral therapy, which focuses on management of symptoms and skills to help relaxation. Another would be cognitive restructuring, which enforces positive thinking, along with coping plans for certain situations (Landro 2). This passage suggests that psychotherapy takes a personalized approach for treating anxiety. Although the treatments main focus is to better the patient, it leaves a lot for the victim s family and future. • 10. Evolution Of The Modern Era Of Skateboarding Prior to the days of Dogtown, skateboarding was dead. However, as soon as the Dogtown culture came alive, so did the modern era of skateboarding. As a result of surfing, the California drought of the 1970s, and the film work and photography of Craig Stecyk, this once dead sport has risen from the dead for good. It all began in the early 1970s when Dogtown, located in Venice Beach, California was home to a secret surfing cove. This area was constantly populated by pyromaniacs, drug addicts, artists, and of course surfers , but most importantly the Zephyr surf team. When the California drought of the 1970s occurred, they made use of the architecture that was not being used. Seaside pools became more than just an empty unusable piece of land built underground, but a bowl for skaters to develop their innovation for the future of the sport (Hayes, 2005). The availability of television time also had an impact on the rise of skate. While the status of skateboarding was taking off, so was television and sport. The 1980s marked the introduction of innumerable network options (Cable s Story, 2015). Not long after in the mid 1990s, the X Games kicked off and included skateboarding as one of its activities. August 10, 2016 was a life changing day. This day started an event that made me appreciate life more, and taught me that even the smallest thing could be a big difference in any outcome. August 10, 2016 was a life changing day. This day was when I found out that my family needed to pack our cars with things such as; clothes, personal items, and other accessories to move to a more safe area. Around nine O clock a.m. was when we got the news that we needed to evacuate the area. We knew that this flood was gonna be nothing to joke about, so we packed our things fairly quickly and made the decision to drive to a friends house. Later that day, we showed up to their house with the idea that it was not going to flood the area. The next morning, I woke up to my parents telling me that our house has just been flooded and had gotten around two feet inside the house and I knew that we would not be back in our home for a very long time. Next, everyone in the house was told that we needed to sandbag the house because the flood might reach the inside and of course we would help, considering that they took us in. After all, their neighbors and family members started grabbing bags and filling them with sand to stack in front of the house. Throughout all of the hard work and sweat, we soon came to find out that it was all for nothing. Not ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Behavior can not be determined by one factor, but influenced by a party of many factors. Scholars have argued that not all individual differences are completely represented in criminal populations. For example, individuals who are impulsive, daring, and aggressive are found to be more indulging in criminal populations than individuals who delay gratification, are cautious, and are sensitive to the needs and wants of others. Criminology refuses to acknowledge the relationship between personality and crime are connected. The lack of this cognitive development can be linked to low morality within friends, family, and others in the community. Kohlberg concluded that we learn morality from those individuals we interact with on a regular basis. These individuals consist of our friends, family, and others in the community. He claimed that a subgroup of our population has criminal thinking tendencies. As a result, there is a thin line between low morality in this cognitive development. Another perspective of personality and traits were argued by a number of well known criminologists. They argued that the root causes of crime are not linked to high unemployment or bad schools but deeply rooted in the human personality and its early experiences. Low intelligence, an impulsive personality, and a lack of empathy for other people are among the leading characteristics of people at risk of becoming criminals. Hans Eysenck completed numerous studies on the impact of personality characteristics on criminality. He theorizes that criminal behavior may be a function of both personality differences and conditioning. He also theorized that some individuals are simply more difficult to condition than others. Since we develop a conscience through conditioning, it is not surprising that antisocial behavior is more likely when this process breaks down for some reason. Eysenck argued that there are two factors that play a part poor condition. They consist of physiological factors and personality ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

There needs to be an expansion in the college football playoff to give the lower ranked teams a chance to show their worth, promote equality between conferences, and prepare athletes for professional football. They have a point in that some years, there truly are only four or five teams that have a sufficient resume to battle for the trophy. But there are more often years where there are anywhere from seven to twelve teams that are close in ability. Although it would be most fair to change the amount of teams allowed to play from year to year, this would never happen with the preparation the NCAA has to make. The benefit of the doubt must then go to the larger amount of teams, as it is the most fair in all cases. It would be most beneficial to allow the bigger group of teams in the years there are enough, and have to fill the years there is not. This will also make for more entertaining games to watch at the close of the season. As this shows, the benefits to this system outnumber the negatives. • 24. Rhetorical Analysis Of Antony s Speech Antony gave the most effective funeral speech to thoroughly convince the Roman people to side with him and rebel against the conspirators. In order to accomplish this, Antony uses the persuasive techniques logos, ethos, and pathos. To start his speech, Antony opens with some kind words about Caesar. Antony uses ethos by speaking kindly of Caesar and saying, He was my friend, he was faithful and just to me (line 81). Antony appears to be a honest and humble man mourning for his friend. By saying Brutus is an honorable man (line 83), Antony places himself on the crowd s side because up to this point the crowd is in favor of Brutus. Antony has made himself seem more trustworthy which also utilizes ethos. He then continues to speak of Caesar s great deeds that do not support Brutus s claim of Caesar s ambition. For example, Antony tells of Caesar saying, He brought many captives home to Rome whose ransoms brought wealth to the city (line 83). This is all Brutus wants Antony to say but Antony continues and asks the crowd, Is this the work of an ambitious man (line 89)? Antony is using logos to influence the Roman people because he provides a counterexample to the claims of Caesar s ambition. Furthermore, Antony places doubt in Brutus by saying, Yet Brutus says he was ambitious, and Brutus is an honorable man (lines 91 92). This use of logos allows Antony to prove Brutus wrong, even if he does not say it out loud. Antony utilizes pathos by drawing sympathy from the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Slowing the process of global warming would allow us, as a worldwide power, to take preventative measures that could cut back the amount of damage that global warming can cause though it would be hard, if we could cut back on work hours of large factories and put together more public transportation for the working class then we could slow global warming within the next few years. This idea, if enacted, has the potential to harm the economy of many nations, because the working hours would be cut in factories that employ thousands of employees, but it also can allow for scientists and engineers to come up with a plan that could prevent/lower the amount of risk we have environmentally from being impacted by global warming and its effects. It has the potential to harm the economy of other nations, because shortening the amount of hours that their factories are allowed to run can raise production time and cost this would lead to the increase in price of items, because it would take more money and time to produce these goods rather than if they were able to work for a longer amount of time and produce more goods in this time period. The meaning behind Aristotle s quote is that being ethical is important because it is what a person does, that defines a person. Morality and ethics play a huge role in life, especially doing what is right over what will be accepted, and is shown throughout To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee. Lee uses the novel s moral compass, Atticus Finch, and his foil, the hypocritical Maycomb townspeople, to show the moral obligations society has to do what is right rather than what is accepted. Through Lee s use of unmoral choices she shows that society needs to do the morally right thing. Tenant Education Tenant Education: a Treatment, not a Cure In Evicted: Poverty and Profit in the American City, by Matthew Desmond, it is stated that landlords in the city of Milwaukee evict roughly 16,000 adults and children each year, amounting to approximately 16 families evicted daily through the court system, and many more removed by other, even less pleasant means (4). Many communities across America have started to offer tenant education programs to teach renters how to manage their money and their relationships with landlords in order to avoid eviction. Tenant education is certainly not a bad thing, but is not a complete solution to the problems it attempts to address, because it does not address the landlord s roles in housing disputes and because ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Desmond describes in Evicted Milwaukee s remarkable decline in employment, starting with almost no unemployment in the postwar years to having an unemployment rate in the double digits, partially due to an exodus of manufacturing jobs. The remaining jobs paid less, since they were in the service sector rather than unemployment (24). With the decline in well paying jobs in many parts of America, many tenants will not have the money to pay the rent no matter what and how much knowledge they are given about how to manage it. An effective program would have to somehow help the tenants find safe housing, initial funding, and a job to ensure their knowledge can then be applied to stay housed in the long term. In Evicted, Arleen is not depicted doing anything that would seem substantial to get her evicted, unless it is to be considered her fault that a man kicked down her door when her sons threw snowballs at his car (Desmond 2). During the book The Chosen, written by Chaim Potok, it depicts several different characters pertaining different talents. Characters such as Reuven, Danny, or even Mr. Malter all possess abilities that help them in life. The types of gifts displayed in the book are not what people usually think of as special gifts, but a special talent can seem as little as forgiving easily and genuinely care for others well being or as big as recalling information at a moments notice. In The Chosen, characters such as Reuven, Danny, and Mr. Malter all demonstrate certain gifts that they maintain. To begin with, Reuven Malter demonstrates many of his different types of gifts throughout the story. Two of the key traits Reuven reveals are the gifts of compassion and the mind for logic. In the beginning of the book Danny tries to kill Reuven by hitting him with a baseball, however he later comes and apologizes to him and Reuven forgives him (Potok, 70). Not everyone, when provided with a chance, will forgive someone who wronged them. This letter, through describing the injustice taking place during the civil rights movement also provided some insight about Dr. King s view of the government in the 1960s. Three mains themes present in Dr. King s letter were religion, injustice, and racism. Dr. King repeatedly used the first theme, religion, to support his arguments throughout the letter. For instance, he used a religious comparison to explain his presence in Birmingham, saying just as the Apostle Paul left his little village of Tarsus and carried the gospel ... In general, the idea of justice was key in Dr. King s letter, as he explained that his actions were essentially driven by his desire for justice, in this case in the form of racial equality and desegregation. Finally, racism was a major theme, and it was even the cause of the letter s writing. For example, Dr. King said that though it is unfortunate that so called demonstrations are taking place in Birmingham at this time, but . . . it is even more unfortunate that the white power structure of this city left the Negro community with no other alternative (78), describing how it was racism that forced his actions which led him to be jailed. Dr. King further described the immense racism present at the time by noting that There have been more unsolved bombings of Negro homes and churches in Birmingham than in any other city in this nation (78). In his, letter, Dr. King seemed rather dissatisfied with the local government, particularly the one of Birmingham, Alabama. He openly expressed his desire to see Mr. Conner [a local official] defeated [in an election] (79), and even though after the election, Connor was replaced by a man named Boutwell, Dr. King said While Mr. Boutwell is much more articulate and gentle than Mr. Connor, they are both segregationists, dedicated to the task of maintaining the status quo (79), describing his continued dissatisfaction with the local government. • 40. Gesture Is An Important Part Of Language Gesture is an important part of language the world over. Apart from sign languages, gestures, or talking with one s hands, largely go unnoticed by a majority of speakers. That being said, there are some gestures that are so integral to a language that ignoring them is impossible. Such gestures can widely vary across languages and the world, and making a mistake with them can be disastrous. To alleviate some of this confusion, incorporating gestures into dictionaries of a specific language or country may be helpful, as well as indexing and recording such gestures. This process, though, may prove to be a complicated endeavor. Gestures, due to their ubiquitous use and arbitrary meanings, should be indexed conclusively into dictionaries of their corresponding languages and possibly even resources of their own. Gesture is an incredibly effective way to convey an idea and are an essential part of many languages. In most languages, gesture serves as a way to emphasize speech or to say a short phrase without speaking. They have been conventionalized in society, and while they do not have all the same linguistic properties as words do, their meaning within their culture is undeniable. As Rousseau says, one speaks more effectively to the eye than to the ear. (8) It can be hard to mistake something as simple as a head nod or a wave in greeting. Gestures such as the ones above and others such as thumbs up, now ingrained in social media sites such as Facebook, are everywhere in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Viscosity coefficient ([pic]), a specific constant characteristic of a liquid could be expressed by the following equation of Poiseuille. [pic] ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The constant a is sensitive to the shape and varies from zero for hard sphere or 0.5 for random coils to 2.0 for rigid rods. Variation of specific viscosity of a solution [pic] (specific viscosity or reduced viscosity) is defined as [pic], where [pic] is the viscosity of solution i and [pic] the viscosity of pure solvent) with the concentration of solute is given by the equation: [pic] (39.7) where, c is concentration of the polymer in g/mL and K is a constant. The determination of average molecular weight of polyvinyl acetate in acetone and methanol uses the following Procedure: Prepare solution of polyvinyl acetate in acetone containing approximately 1 mg/ mL. From this prepare four more solutions of 0.2, 0.4, 0.6, 0.8 mg/ mL by dilution. Measure the specific viscosity of all the four solutions as described above. Repeat the above experiment with solution of polyvinyl acetate in methanol.

But then on reflection, changes could have a positive effect, perhaps a change could open up an opportunity to learn new technologies and thereby an advancement in personal and professional development. In order to move forward and keep ahead, I believe an organization need change leaders who have capabilities to have their workforce go from change avoidance to change acceptance. One of the most significant strengths of an effective leader is the ability to create a positive work climate where people are energized to do their best work, free of unnecessary distractions (Cronkite, n.d.). During this part of the change process I feel the change leader would have better success if he would be tactful and harness the skills of others by working in a collaborative rather than hierarchical way. Leadership in an organization involves instilling motivation and enthusiasm in the employees. An effective leader knows how to manage and tackle difficult situations and people. Many reasons can cause a force of change in organizations but I feel it s up to change leaders to manage these planned and unexpected changes. The Government had high hopes that when the act was passed it would create a Culture of Human Rights within the United Kingdom. Whilst this directly affected principle is absolute, a victim can also include someone not necessarily directly affected by the actions of a public body, but indirectly affected. Where it is established that a Convention Right has been violated, the victim may be able to gain an injunction to stop the violation, force the public authority to take action, take judicial review proceedings or obtain damages and compensation. Primary legislation, which is Parliamentary Statute, the most sacred type of English law, has to be bought into accordance with the Convention Rights. If primary legislation does not comply with the Convention Rights then a Declaration of Incompatibility is issued. • 46. An Example Of Foreshadowing In The Leap 1. An example of foreshadowing in The Leap occurs when the narrator recalls her mother telling her that she would be amazed at how many things a person can do within the act of falling . This foreshadows their leap from the fire. Erdrich builds suspense throughout the story through multiple references to falling and being saved leading to the expectation that something bad will happen to the narrator. Erdrich also creates suspense through her use of words, such as describing the storm which caused the death of Anna s husband as a deadly gale . 2. An example of contrast in the story is that between the first time Anna makes a leap in order to protect the life of her unborn child, and the final leap in which Anna saves the narrator from the fire. During the first leap, Anna makes a decision in the attempt to allow her baby a full life; however, the child ends up dying only a few months later. In the final leap, Anna once again must rescue her child, and this time succeeds in allowing her child a long life. Erdrich is using contrast here to illustrate the importance in not letting past failures prevent her from taking a risk. • 47. A Report On Early Spring Planting Early spring planting is a great way to enjoy an abundance of early produce that normally wouldn t be available until the late spring or early summer. Many smaller gardens can be started indoors with setups as simple as a few herb seeds in a windowsill planter or as complex as a multi light hydroponic system. One of the most common mistakes that happen with starting your spring garden indoors is stating too early. Conditions must be timed exactly right so that as the indoor plant becomes ready for transplanting to a full bed, the conditions outside will at least allow transplanting the now grown seedlings to cold frames. Once the weather turns and the last frost has gone, the cold frames are removed and the plants will be well on there way to a quick spring start. This can give you the chance in some areas to allow for two or even three growing seasons throughout the year. Simple systems and complex indoor growing operations all have one thing in common; they need light. Without sunlight through a windowsill or high powered light bulbs, plants just won t grow. In fact very few organisms can survive without sunlight, and those that do live in the sea or caves. A good source of light is crucial to the success of starting your spring garden indoors. When starting from seeds, you ll need to germinate them first. Most seeds can be started in simple containers like paper cups, but some prefer peat cups or biodegradable cups. Summary Of Modern Technology In The Movie I Robot I Robot, directed by Alex Proyas, is a film that shows how modern technology will advance within the years; making people question their everyday lifestyle. In I Robot, the main character Detective Del Spooner, had us follow his journey on questioning societal expectations. This all began from the creation that Dr. Alfred Lanning, who created the robots as well as V.I.K.I. The main NS5 robot in the movie is named Sonny, who questioned his purpose of life as a robot. This Film was designed to have us question, understand the rules and order in situations and evolve with society. In this film, we can recognize that Det Del Spooner isn t too keen on having robots around to help with their tasks. He believes that by having the NS5 robots do our tasks makes us as humans less dependable on ourselves. We don t evolve and become stagnated in our own society waiting for the robots to do the chore. Det Del Spooner witnesses how everyone around him fully rely on their robots for their tasks. One scene where Det Del Spooner observes a robot running with a purse. Of course, he assumed that the robot just stole the bag. Afterwards, it is uncovered that this robot was not stealing but running to give his owner her purse. Consequently, the robot was just doing his job and helping his owner. This displays how Det Del Spooner is very cautious and doesn t believe that the robots will maintain the laws set up for them when created. The laws were set up to protect the humans, to obey the ...
