Napping In Edgar Allan Poe s The Raven
In the poem The Raven, by Edgar Allan Poe, he talks about how this raven that enters his room
while he was nearly napping and how the narrator starts asking him questions and weirdly the
raven answers with nevermore. At the beginning, Poe was describing how weak and weary he
was, and while [he] nodded, nearly napping, suddenly there came a tapping on his door (Poe 1).
Poe is entering a dream like state, it s like he was not sure if there was someone tapping on his
door or he was in his dream hearing someone tapping on his door. Shortly, the narrator gets up to
open the door and tells the taper that he was napping, and so gently you came tapping hardly he
could hear that taps on his door (Poe 4). But there was no one on the door. So he

Us History Reagan, H.W Bush, Clinton, Reaganomics
Post 1980: The New Political Era Mike ****** AP US History 12 April, 2012 Post 1980: The
New Political Era (REAGAN, H.W BUSH, CLINTON) The election of 1980 marked a new
political era that was ushered in by President Reagan and that followed on through the presidencies
of George H. W. Bush and William Jefferson Clinton. These presidents were inaugurated at
different times and succeeded the successes and the failures of their predecessors. Having came
from different political backgrounds and having unique political and social beliefs, Bush, Reagan,
and Clinton can only be analyzed through their foreign policies, domestic policies, achievements as
well as shortcomings, and legacies. Ronald Wilson... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This, however, created chaos in other public programs for instance, Medicare and Social
Security. Reagan was fairly laissez faire and delivered on his promise to decrease government
intervention by reducing federal regulations on business and industry, a policy preferably known
as deregulation which had begun under Carter s presidency (Newman and Schmalbach 650).
Nevertheless, Reagan opposed labor unions he once fired thousands of striking air traffics who
were against their contracts and many businesses followed suit by taking strict measures against
striking. As a result, labor union membership and striking drastically decreased as the economy
grew tough during the Recession of 1982, and foreign competition for American jobs made jobs
insecure and negatively affected worker s wages (Newman and Schmalbach). In 1982,
investments and banks failed leading in a recession; the worst recession since the 1930 s during
the Great Depression. Unemployment skyrocketed to 11 percent as compared to the usual
unemployment rate which is normally 8 percent or under. Fortunately enough, a fall in oil prices
prevented the double digit inflation rate similar to that of the late 1970 s by lowering it to 4
percent. The policies of Reaganomics , mainly centered around cutting government spending and
tax cuts, are what improved and

Essay about Patrick Henry s Famous Speech
Patrick Henry s Famous Speech
Give me liberty or give me death. These famous words were uttered by Patrick Henry on March
23, 1775, as a conclusion to his speech delivered to the Virginia House of Burgesses. Within his
speech, he uses the three rhetorical appeals (ethos, logos, and pathos) to convey a feeling of
urgency toward the changes occurring in policy within the Americas implemented by the British
government. He cleverly uses these appeals to disrupt the paradigm that Great Britain is going to let
the American people have any liberty.
The Purpose of this speech is to gain support for a freedom movement from the British government.
One can see this when he states, ?Has Great Britain any enemy, in this quarter of the ... Show more

The very first sentence, ?No man thinks more highly than I do of the patriotism, as well as abilities,
of the very worthy gentlemen who have just addressed the house. But?? conveys the message of
him caring about what others have said before he spoke. It also implies that he disagrees with
some of their views, which he goes on to explain through deductive reasoning in his speech
Patrick Henry uses logos in his speech by talking about Great Britain and how its military is
infringing on the right of the people living in the Americas, and how ?a British guard shall be
stationed in every house? when there is no war. The point he establishes about the extent of British
abuse within America can also be viewed as pathos.
Within Patrick Henry s speech, he states, ?? it is natural to man to indulge in the illusions of hope.
We are apt to shut our eyes against a painful truth.? Here he is talking about the people in the House
of Burgesses not realizing that the British are infringing on their rights as citizens.
[And what have we to oppose to them? Shall we try argument? Sir, we have been trying that for
the last ten years. Have we anything new to offer upon the subject? Nothing. We have held the
subject up in every light of which it is capable; but it has been all in vain.]
Using this series of statements, Patrick Henry presents a challenge to his peers. While

Achieving Project Goals Simulation
How completing the simulation change my perspective of project management
The completion of the stimulation has a critical impact on how I view the general outlook of project
management in the society. Project management is a multifaceted activity that desires and requires
diverse knowledge and skills from the concerned people. The simulation project had many
considerations that took after manipulation of the natural skills and materials into meeting the
elephant project. The directives that were of immense importance came from the knowledge and
skills gained from the course materials and comparative approaches involved throughout the study
period (Choudhury, 1988).
After completing the project, I learnt immense skills and knowledge as regards going beyond
extremes of time and activity in order to meet the objected and non objected calls of the project.
The project on elephants had to be covered within the initial scope that was set during the creation
of the project. In order to fulfill the needs and specifications of the project, the workers had to
increase more of their attention, concentration, and determination. I perceive a project as a tedious
and cheap avenue that can be accomplished if equitable plans have been set before its initialization.
After completing the project, I developed innate skills and knowledge as regards management of
challenges that

My Hero Essay
Flames shot twenty feet into the air. Drums blared, guitars strum, and one tear escaped my eye.
This was the greatest experience of my life, I was finally getting to see my hero, Paul
McCartney. While most kids of the generation look up to the the likes of Justin Bieber, and
Ariana Grande, I differ. My hero has integrity, he stands up for what he believes in, even if it s
not a popular opinion. Even better is his ability to inspire, his lyrics and rhetoric make people
change for the better. A true hero has the ability to make people act, not by force, but because they
want to.
It is not easy to stand up for what one believes in when he is criticised by the public or media.
Being able to stand against the regular cultural norms and do what is right is a strong identifier of
integrity, and that is what Paul McCartney does. The greatest example of this was in the late 60 s,
when Paul was a Beatle. This was the stadium era, a time for concert goers that was ushered in by
The Beatles. The unfortunate piece of the however, was the fact that this era still involved
segregation. Paul and the Beatles would not stand for this tolerance, the most amazing piece to
keep in mind is that at the time they were just teenagers. They showed integrity when after hearing
that a concert of theirs would be segregated they released this statement We never play to
segregated audiences and we aren t going to start now. I d sooner lose our appearance money, it s
embarrassing to admit that these

Comparing Daoism, Confucianism, And Legalism In Classical...
Three of the major religious philosophies in Classical China were Daoism, Confucianism, and
Legalism. Daoism was a religious philosophy that the upper class favored to strengthen their
traditional Chinese beliefs, especially those relating to nature. Daoism told people to have harmony
with nature by living frugally and with humility. On the other hand, Confucianismwas centered
around ethics. Confucianism s main teachings were to treat others based on both of your positions
in society and it did not discuss magic or mysteries, but instead made sure that everyone understood
their place in society. Legalism, another system of political thought, consisted of an authoritarian
state and strict rule. Legalists believed that human nature was bad and needed to be controlled. In a
Legalist state, the army was in control while the people worked. Although these teaching were are
very different, they were all found in Classical China. The Chinese state and its political institutions
developed over time. First of all, even though the Zhou dynasty lacked a strong government, they
discouraged previous religious practices such as human sacrifice, they promoted a standard
language, and took over the Yangtze River valley which provided new territory and food. After the
Zhou dynasty declined, the Qin dynasty rose and split China into... Show more content on

Due to Patriarchal families, the husband and/or father in a family was the head of the house. This
provided him with less extreme punishments and control over his wife s life. In addition, the sons,
and most importantly the eldest son, took precedence over any daughter that was in the family. The
class structure was very specific in China. At the top, there were the landowning aristocrats and
educated bureaucrats. Next there were peasants, laboring masses, artisans, and at the very bottom,
there were people with meaningless skills (performers) and

The Second Central Theme Religion And Exile
Lastly, both movies demonstrate the second central theme religion and exile as means to control
the public. For example, Second Reza Shah wanted to remove religion and place his traditional
Persian heritage as founding rule of Iranian people. Removal of religion was mandatory for Second
Reza to keep his absolute power within Iran. For example, when Second Reza Shah s father was in
power, he had religious clergy that guided him on action what were needed to be done within the
state. When Reza Shah was exiled and his son Mohammad Reza Shah was appointed as the new
ruler of Iran by CIA. For this reason, Ayatollah Khomeini used this as his arc to get more people

Wherefore, the Shah imprisoned and then exiled Khomeini to Iraq then for the last few months

and played it in Iran. Appointed Prime Minister (Shahpur Bakhtiar) of the Shah. Bakhtiar used
military force to control the public when Khomeini demonstrated his speech in public. At this
time, the military lost control of the public and lost legitimacy. Prime Minister Bakhtiar was
unable to control the desire of the people, because these people wanted change. Shah at this time
in 1979 had already left the country and Bakhtiar also left after losing control of public by
military action. For this example, this demonstrated the legitimacy of Khoemini influence in the
nation, where he openly spoke against the government. In relation, to Persepolis, Marjane can be
viewed as a person for became exiled from her country. For example, as a young girl she spoke
her mind and questioned the political rule within her country. As she got older she did the same.
However, the new government was just like the Shah where it imprisoned individuals who spoke

How A Man Copes With Life Unrealized Essay
How a Man Copes with Life Unrealized (Death) The Metamorphosis, by Franz Kafka is a written
expression of a man s struggle with a life of unsatisfactory expectations. He is so disgusted with
his current prospects of his dreary existence, his only hope of dealing is to reach deep into his
mind and see something other than himself, he, Gregor, found himself changed in his bed into a
monstrous vermin (Damrosch, 2009). How did he get here? How did life, his useless life suck
the very humanity out of him? The family that he made this life altering sacrifice for is
changing as well, losing their humanity, things can t go on like this, we have to try to get rid of
it (Damrosch, 2009). A character analysis of Gregor noted this regarding the family but their
metamorphosis are the most profound because they demonstrate how easily one s beliefs,
values, and basic treatment of others can be compromised because of a failure to adapt
psychologically (Article Myriad, 2015). His family was, but changed mentally and lovingly, but
not physically, they could not escape as Gregor had. Gregor the responsible man must cope with
failure or perceived failure of life unrealized. Is this monstrous vermin (Damrosch, 2009) a
depiction of a man who has accepted what his life is and has given up all hope for change, is
death the realization of peace in life? Disgust Gregor was a traveling salesman who awakened to

directed them to a neighboring house from her porch and informed the officers that she had heard
glass breaking and that someone (or possibly multiple someones) was breaking into the house next
door. Hymon proceeded to circle around behind the house, while Wright radioed dispatch to inform
them they were on the scene. Officer Hymon then heard a door slam and someone running across

1983 for violations of Garner s constitutional rights. He stated that the shooting violated the Fourth,
Fifth, Sixth, Eighth, and Fourteenth Amendments. (http://caselaw.findlaw.com/us supreme court

Department, it s Director, Officer Hymon, and the Mayor of Memphis city accountable. After a
three day bench trial, the District Court dismissed the charges against The Mayor and the city of
Memphis due to a lack of sufficient evidence. Officer Hymon s charges were dismissed the charges
on the grounds that his actions were constitutional and were sanctioned by the Tennessee statute.
The main question this case posed was: Does a statute authorizing use of deadly force to prevent the
escape of any fleeing suspected felon violate the Fourth Amendment? Eventually, they decided it
wasn t, though this decision was not unanimous, representing a 6 3 split in the Supreme Court
Justices. The three justices who were not in agreement were following the statement made by
Justice Sandra Day O Connor that the majority went too far in invalidating long standing common
law and police practices contrary to the holding.

Change Progress and Prosperity
Change Progress and Prosperity The Harvest took place in a small, secluded, and self reliant
agricultural community in England, before the industrial revolution. The novel was based on
change, growth, progress and prosperity. The village, as the narrator Walter Thirsk stated was, far
from everywhere (Crace, 3) and isolated from the world. The village was also fragmented and
missing any development of identity. The commons were the people living in the unnamed village.
The commons way of life changed from harvesting and plowing to extracting wool for clothing. Jim
Craceexamined the themes of changeand fragmentation by the loss of identity and way of life
through the use of symbols, characters, and imagery. In the Harvest, symbolism was evident
throughout the novel. Symbols are commonly used to add richness and depth to the story. The
author used symbols to develop the main themes of change and fragmentation. During the course
of the novel, the most significant symbols included: fire, crops, ghost, unfinished cross, quills,
sheep, wool, and the rock. In the novel, fire was the most impactful symbol. The novel started
with two fires and ended in one. What starts with fire will end with fire (Crace, 198). The element
of fire represents a variety of meanings such as: passion, hope, anger, devastation, and betrayal. In
the beginning of the film, fire represented betrayal and devastation. Two twists of smoke at a time

tradition, he would no longer carry a seconod blade into a fight. Both hands on the hilt of his

than a few of his class mates were forced out of training for days at a time from injuries that he

using his pommel to great effect, or even just his bare hands. He seemed to not be content with a

Much larger than him, but not one of the heavy warriors. This one was clad in hides, and carried

also meant he was likely outclassed in strength as well. Their reach was close with the longer
blade Ktonos bore, so he knew he was going to have to rely on speed and skill, hoping he was the
better in these regards. When the orc swung at him, it was a wide, clumsy blow, and Ktonos
exploded forward, ducking under the strike, and bringing his blade up as he moved past the foe.
There was a blur of motion as Ktonos whipped his blade around in a swift motion that pruned the
arm off of the orc, bringing the enemy weapon out of play, and then Ktonos swung one last time,
the honed edge of the sword taking his foe across the neck, slitting his throat. The beast toppled to
the ground, Ktonos stared, his eyes picking out the hot flow of blood from the neck of the orc, and
he leaned down without thinking, running his fingers through the liquid before stripping off his

Coming Of Age In Sparta
Brayden Drury
Coming of age can mean many different things for various cultures. Coming of age is the process
of maturing or entering into adulthood. Most cultures and religions have specific events,
ceremonies, or celebrations associated with coming of age. For a boy in ancient Sparta, coming of
age includes many spiritual, physical, intellectual, and emotional elements to overcome.
Coming of age in Sparta started moments after birth. The second a Spartan child was born, they
were tested to make sure they embodied the perfect image of a Spartan soldier. They tested
children by dipping them into a bath of wine to test their strength and determination. Spartans
believed that a weak child would convulse and die. If the child passed, they were then taken to a
group of elders. If the Elders found the child deficient in any way they would be left on the sides
of Mount Taygetos to die.
Spartan boys continued to get closer to coming of age their whole life. For example, at age
eighteen, the formal education aspect of the Agoge ended. The Agoge were a set of coming of age
schools that were designed to make the children mentally perfect ... Show more content on

Introduction Within the telecommunications industry, everything ranging from television to

industries such as services. It should come to no surprise given the advances in technologies across
the globe, that an industry that is heavily technological based should also follow suit. This allows
for both old and new organizations to tap in the growth of both the human and technological capital

cheaper telecommunication services that still uphold the consumer s expectations in regards of
entertainment, such as streamlining content from the internet and offering the consumer the choice

Summary Of Girl By Jamacia Kincaid
When a text is first being dissected it is important to walk in to the situation prepared. To be
prepared you must go into the situation equipped with your own interpretation as to what
constitutes literature. The definition of literature isn t very concise. Like art the definition of
literature can vary from one individual to another and before studying these subjects the audience
should establish their own definition so that they can look for themes and symbols in the piece. In
my opinion I believe that literature should be defined as any fictitious work that implements
symbols, and other literary devices, to convey different themes and messages below the surface of
the text. With this interpretation of literature I think that its purpose is to give the audience insight
into the lives of others and make statements about our society. When readers study literature in this
manner they are able to view our society from an outside perspective and... Show more content on

before and I asked him if he would elaborate on his experiences so that I might find something
that would tug on my heart strings and give me something I would feel passionate enough about
to write a paper. I was pleasantly surprised to get more than what I had bargained for. He really
brought me into his world. Light bulbs started going off above my head and I m excited to share
these with you.
I interviewed my previous coworker who is a small time drug dealer. He has been arrested six
times, been to jail for a few months a couple times, as well as spending several random nights in
jail. His first arrest occurred at eighteen. He was out making his rounds selling marijuana and got
caught selling to a minor. He had bags of weed on him as well as the paraphernalia used to smoke
it like pipes and roach clips. This resulted in a felony charge and two misdemeanor charges on his
record. Because this was his first offense he only had to stay a month in jail. When I asked him
how it was to be in jail for the first

The Industrial Revolution Of Philadelphia
INTRODUCTION: April 8, 2012 was the Sunday that Easter was celebrated that year. This date
will also be forever remembered as the day that Lieutenant Robert Neary and Firefighter Daniel
Sweeney lost their lives at the Thomas Buck Hosiery Factory fire in Philadelphia, PA. Since
William Penn first founded the city of Philadelphia in 1682, it has been an evolving and growing
city, from a 17th century colonial city to the capital of the United States during the American
Revolution. The industrial revolution of the 19th century transformed the green fields of lower
Kensington, a section of Philadelphia, to a mixture of homes and mills by 1875.... Show more

At 03:17 am, Engine 2 arrives on location and reports that he has heavy fire showing from the
first and second floors, and requests a full first alarm assignment. One minute later he reported
that he had fire all the way to the roof in a 6 story building, 60 x one city block. He then
requested a full second alarm assignment and notified the dispatch center to prepare for the
third alarm. Around 3:30 am, before most 2nd alarm companies arrived on the fireground. the
first of many collapses occurred. A large section of wall collapsed from the upper story on the
York Street side and crashed on to the street. By 4:01 am, this fire would grow to a five alarm
response. With the arrival of Engine 2 and other arriving companies, command was established,
and the fire scene was divided into four geographic divisions (A, B, C, D) to manage this defensive
fire. Command was passed from Engine 2 to the Battalion Commander, then to the Division
commander and lastly to the Deputy Commissioner. As the fire intensified, the command structure
grew to include an operations section, logistics, safety and an exposure group lead by a Battalion
Chief. For over two hours the approximately 45 apparatus and over 150 firefighters and paramedics
fought to contain the fire to the original complex and protect the surrounding neighborhood. The
weather that night brought 17 mph winds, with gusts over 30 mph. These winds, combined with

The Malleus Witchcraft
The Malleus Maleficarum also showed a belief in women being more susceptible to witchcraft
due to their physical state. The Malleus was published in Germany in 1487 and was written by
two monks, Kramer and Sprenger. This text helped to spark witch trials in Cologne in 1487 and
1491 and Trier in 1497 and 1501 . The Malleus showed very misogynistic views and until its
publication men had been accused of witchcraftjust as much as women . This suggests that the
Malleus was a contributing factor to the number of women prosecuted as witches. However, was
the Malleus a reflection of early modern views towards witchcraft, or was the text seen as
extremist? The Malleus was divided into three separate parts describing the nature of witches, what

Levack has been criticised by Barstow because he fails to mention gender throughout his book , and
therefore Levack as a historian may have taken an inaccurate approach to witchcraft as he avoided
discussing gender as a factor. Thurston suggests that although the Malleus represented an
important strain in male attitudes towards women , it doesn t point to misogyny as a factor
behind the witch hunts . The extent of the Malleus influence is unclear due to the fact that it was
printed in 1486 1520 and then 1574 1621, however the book was not reprinted during a 50 year
span which included an increase in the number of witch trials carried out. Hence, it could be
argued that the Malleus wasn t of extreme importance, due to the fact that there was an increase in
witch trials whilst the book wasn t being printed. On the other hand, it could also be argued that the
authors identified the increase in witch trials as a reason to print the Malleus again. The Malleus
Maleficarum included the papal bull Summis Desiderantes Affectibus issued by Pope Innocent VIII
in 1484 in the preface of the book, and, as Thurston suggests, that the knowledge in the Malleus was

Ecosystem is made up of all populations living together and the physical factors with which they
interact with their environment. The ecosystem gets its energy from the only source, the sun,
which make it important. The sun plays significant roles in ecosystem functioning of

ecology is a group of organisms of the same species living in the same place at the same time.
Factors that affect the number of individuals living in a habitat are the population growth rate, size,

When Good Corporate Social Responsibility Is Good Business
Introduction
Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) can play a major role in a company s financial situation.
When a company invests in CSR, it can either bring additional costs to the company and hurt it
financially or it can help the company and greatly improve its revenue. However, when studying
this relationship between CSR and revenue, it is not a relationship that is easily analyzed. For ...

When utilized correctly, CSR is an investment with risk, but one worth taking. Calculating
Corporate Social Performance Whether CSR costs a company money or earns them money can
be a challenging topic to argue. There are many factors that are considered when assessing a
company s long term financial performance and its relationship between the company s CSR and
their revenue. These factors include a company s CSP (Corporate Social Performance, or the
measure of CSR), size, risk taken, economic scaling, and competition. However, there are several
additional variables that are commonly forgotten and must be considered when calculating the
effect a company s CSR has on their financial situation. R D for example has a major impact on a
company s long term economic performance, as it leads to improved knowledge and increased
ingenuity on the company s operations and products. Positive returns on R D investments can
lead to increased shareholder returns and increased profits. Industry advertising intensity is also a
variable that is often omitted, but must be included in this calculation. This accounts for any
industry entry barriers. These barriers are industry wide and may cause an increase in a company
s revenue. When R D and advertising intensity are left out of the equation, then the positive effect
of the company s CSR will be greatly exaggerated. In 2000, researchers Abigail Williams and
Donald Siegel entered each of these variables into an

chapter by illustrating the multiple steps it takes to grow rice paddies, emphasizing the point that
rice has been cultivated in China for thousands of years. Next, the Chinese number system is
brought up due to its logical counting system . The regularity in the system provides advantages
for Asian children, because they are able to learn faster than American children, specifically in
subjects such as mathematics. The author relates the point about having advantages back to the
roots in a group s culture. In the case of the Koreans, one kind of deeply rooted legacy stood in
the way of the very modern task of flying an airplane. Here was have another kind of legacy, one
that turns out to be perfectly suited for twenty first century tasks. Cultural legacies matter, and once
we ve seen the surprising effects of such things such as power distance and numbers (231 232). The
cultural legacy of rice farmers has taught farmers to have patience, determination, perseverance,

In todays society we have a lot of comforts that we take for granted. Our daily lives are filled with
plethora of gadgets, services, and machines that make our lives easier. Back in the mid 19th
century there where not as many comforts as we have today. However, you would still have
given up luxuries, if you decided to go live in a cabin in the woods. Henry D. Thoreau did just this
when he built a house on the shores of Walden Pond. I believe that he did this to define the limits of
his own strengths and connect with nature. This has made me come to reflect on what
consequences do modern comforts have on our understanding of ourselves, and if we are out of

interaction. In society, as it was back then and how it is now, social interaction is a great
comfort. It allows for us to satisfy our need to feel connected with other people and also share
important information. At Walden Pond Thoreau lived a mile away from his closest neighbor.
Except for a few interactions when he would go to town for needed supplies or people passing
by close to his cabin, social interactions where few. In this manner Thoreau was able to define his
strength by showing his lack of reliance in social interaction. In the absence of other people
Thoreau was able to be left alone to think about and connect with nature. If today we wanted to
find out strengths and connect with nature, just like Thoreau, are there comforts in our modern
society preventing us from doing so? In my opinion there are. As pointed out by Richard Fry in

How Are People Going To Survive The Trip?
During this announcement which dazzled dozens, Musk provided few and limited details about

Globalization, Capitalism And The Everyday Essay

Theoretically this thesis engages with capitalist and neoliberal literature followed by literature on
everyday narratives to be able to contextualize consequences of historical and recent developments
in the Kurdistan Region (KR), addressed in literature section, and the ways people have been
affected by them are connected to the aforementioned topics.
In this section, I argue that through the intervention of outside institutions and governments,
foreign advisors and experts, and returnees from diaspora, a new politico economic model begins
to emerge, albeit very slowly and takes force in the late 1990s and reaches it apex in the late
2000s. I work towards answering questions such as, how and why this model was implemented and
who were the actors, advisors, and think tanks behind it? What are the consequences on everyday
experiences for individuals and the collective? These questions will be answered by engaging with
ethnographic works and theoretical literature on neoliberalism, capitalism and the everyday. To

Champion Cheer Analysis
I am perfectly content at my cheer gym, Champion Cheer. When I am there, I can focus on my
goal of winning Worlds, feel supported by my teammates, and earn my own money to relieve the
stress of my parents.
One of my main goals in life is to win Worlds. Worlds is a competition in which cheer teams from
around the globe compete to become the best in the world. In 2009, after suffering defeat in my
first Worlds, I dedicated all my free time to returning, winning, and bringing home the
championship ring. Last year, after years of hard work, our team placed fifth in the world at this
competition. Even though we grew as a team that day, the title of first in Worlds became more of a
priority in my life. Fighting for this goal at Champion Cheer brings a sense of happiness and
contentment to me.
I feel a sense of happiness when I am working and practicing with my team in the gym. My
teammates support me and in return I try to be a leader and encourage them in a positive manner.

her three children. While my mother did not force me to work, I wanted to obtain a job to
support myself and relieve some of the stresses in her life. In addition to helping out financially,
working at my cheer gym gives me the opportunity to work with a variety of people. One
responsibility I have is working with the special needs team. The age of members on this team

My American Dream Experience In My Life
This summer my American dream was fulfilled through the simple things. This summer I was
able to be blessed with a job. And I was an assistant for a home daycare and this was like a dream
come true honestly because i love working with and being around kids. And it also gave me
something to do during the day. I woke up every morning excited to get to work i would get to
work every day on time. I was just so ready to be in he presence of the wonderful kids, we also
had a activity daily planned that kept the children busy. The activities varied from going to the
pool, seeing a movie, going to the park, or even just going out to get some ice cream. Each day
was filled with fun and laughter. Every day i came into the daycare i grew closer with the kids,
and during the weekend when the aycare was closed i would be so anxious waiting around for
Sunday evening so I could get ready for the next day. I also had another American dream
experience this summer, my family decided to have a big cookout so that we could prepare for
an family reunion next summer so everyone got together we cooked out on the grill we did relay
races, water balloons, and many more fun activities. This was an american dream experience
because being around family and their is positive energy in the room is just the best feeling in the
world especially since not all of my family live in the same state so whenever everyone comes

South Korea Research Paper
The sociocultural role of sport in the country, including any political implications
South Korea loves sport, sport is not only a popular physical activity but is a significant social
practice. Sport operates as an important cultural resource and produces and disseminates
nationalism. Indeed, in recent years, south korea has shown competence in hosting, playing, and
managing sport. South Korean athletes have created notable results at major international sport
events. For example, since 1984, the national Summer Olympic team has unfailingly been ranked in
the top 10 nations on the medal table, with the only exception being the 2000 Sydney Olympic
Games. The country has also produced a number of major world sporting events, including hosting

This has had profound implications in the development of Korean society. Soon after the
liberation from Japan in 1945, the peninsula was sectioned into two parts and 5 years later, civil
war broke out in 1950. This war ended in 1953 without a peace treaty, which means the two
countries still technically are at war. More than 50 years of division has influenced the culture and
national opinions of the Korean people. The two Koreas see each other as political and military
enemies, but they also see themselves as an ethnically homogenous nation. So there is a strong
desire on both sides of the fence to reunify so that a unified Korean nation state can be created. The
reunification of the nation is one of the largest political projects in both South and North Korea.
This ethnic nationalism allows for occasional cooperation between the two countries such as North
Korea and South Korea marching together for the 2000 Sydney Olympics, 2004 Athens Olympics
and 2006 Turin Olympics. Sport in Korea has reflected these complicated relations. International
competitions created a symbolic battlefield between the two countries, at least until the 1980s.
North and South Korean governments invested heavily in developing skilled athletes and funded
part of the development of high performance sport in order to win more medals in international
games. This arms

Difference Between Modernization Theory And Dependency...
Final Exam Ehsan Rahmanian Professor Mitu Sengupta December 8 2016 1. What are the main
differences between modernization theory and dependency theory? Does the human development
approach represent a radical departure from both? Modernization theory is a hypothesis used to
clarify the procedure of modernization that a country experiences as it moves from a simple society
to a modern one. Dependency theory is the idea that assets spill out of a fringe of poor and
immature states to a centre of rich states, enhancing the latter to the detriment of the former. These
two theories contrast in that modernization theory clarifies how created states work and develop,
whereas dependency theory outline how work and develop are restricted. Modernization theory
clarifies the advancement and improvement of innovation in more steady regions of the world
(Culp, 2014). Dependency theory looks at the impacts that modernization in one district has on
different parts of the world. Dependency theory is more comprehensive than modernization theory.
Modernization theory emphasises that instruction, innovation and broad communications are
noteworthy reasons why created districts pull ahead from others. Be that as it may, modernization
theory does not operate on a worldwide scale where the assets, work and power originate to make
this advancement conceivable. In modernization theory, the majority of the advancements that local
areas or states make originate from an aggregate interior exertion.

Portrait Of The Artist As A Young Man By James Joyce
Introduction
James Joyce (1882 1941) was an Irish novelist and poet, considered to be one of the most
influential writers in the modernist avant garde of the early 20th century. In his early twenties he
emigrated permanently to continental Europe, living in Trieste, Paris and Zurich. James Joyce is
now known as one of the greatest writers of the twentieth century. Even during his time, he was
respected as one of the best writers of his generation. Still, his works were so experimental that he
was not read by the general public and was often misunderstood even by his contemporary writers.
His writing became more and more hard on readers. A Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man often
confuses readers who are not used to experimentation in form, but Ulysses and Finnegan s Wake are
rarely read in their entirely even by people trained in such experimentation. ... Show more content

The reader will notice that the names of Joyce s schools are used in his novel. The streets of
Dublin are named as Stephen walks along them. Joyce s family s fortunes are represented in
generally the same way that Joyce experienced them in his life. It is a novel, not an
autobiography, but the line between those two genre is a thin one. It is therefore tempting to see
all that Stephen thinks about art as Joyce s own view of art. However, readers will sense Joyce,
the writer s ironic distance from Stephen, the fictional figure of the artist. A Portrait of the Artist as
a Young Man is an example of a Bildungsroman, a German term describing a story of the education
and intellectual growth of a young man. A story of an artist s development from childhood through

Developing A Hobby Essay
A hobby is an activity one develops to pursue an interest, outside of one s regular occupation and
engages in them primarily for pleasure. Hobbies range from fly fishing to leather working to star
gazing, it can be anything you want it to be and anything you want to do. Having a hobby helps
to make you a more interesting person and it can give you the opportunity to meet new people
with similar interests. A chain of events may lead you to a new hobby which you had never
considered or thought of before. For instance, take the avid reader of fantasy novels, which in itself
is a hobby. From reading these novels, the reader becomes enthralled with swordplay, armor, castles,
dungeons and ladies in distress. From this interest, he may... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

He watches as he wanders through the encampments, seeing swords and armor stacked neatly in
racks or against a nearby tree. His path takes him into merchant s row, a collection of people who
have taken a hobby such as sewing or metal working and have applied it to create merchandise
specific to the SCA. Wandering further, he finds himself at the edge of the tournament field,
where he finds a few people suited in armor and practicing against one another for the upcoming
battle. As a result of his visit to the SCA event, he has seen and discovered several hobbieshe can
pursue. Attending events in themselves, the researching the historical period and costumes, is one
hobby. He may decide to try his skills on the battlefield wearing armor and fighting or designing
and making of armor and weapons. He may already have another hobby, such as leather working
that he can adapt and apply to this new venture. In contrast though, over indulgence in a hobby
can lead to adverse consequences. Everyone should have an outlet and a special interest that they
enjoy doing for themselves. Self indulgence, to a point, is quite healthy. (Summers, 2010) On the
other hand, if the hobby is very expensive, you could wind up in debt or unable to pay your bills
from aggressively pursuing this hobby. At this point, you would need to reevaluate how much and
how often you can afford to do this activity, then scale back until it is

The Value Of Higher Education
Though Leonhardt acknowledges that college can cost an arm and a leg, as it may produce a
financial burden, respectfully argues that regardless of student debt, a person with a degree will
still, over a lifetime, benefit financially more than someone without a higher education. Leonhardt
goes on to argue that the lack of individuals pursuing a higher educationis why the pay gap has
continued to multiply. Leonhardt contends a straightforward solution for the inevitable trend of
few individuals graduating from such institutions, as he goes onto say that college is a no
brainer. Leonhardt stresses that actual financial cost of a higher education is worthwhile as the
value of a higher education is what places and defines us society as he goes on to say it s [a
higher education] the most reliable ticket to the middle class and beyond. It s not to say that a
higher education is the only set way to live a comfortable lifestyle, because there are people who
are millionaires and even trillionaires with no actual degree. A good example would be Steve
Jobs, who dropped out of college, yet still became co founder, chairman, and chief executive officer
of Apple Inc. and a majority shareholder of Pixar. What are the chances of being the next Steve
Jobs? It s possible, but not likely; which is why higher education is fundamental to a higher paying
job. Leonhardt continues by insisting that the ones that aren t stressing higher education are those

Image Of Imagery In Macbeth
When Macbeth refuses to return to the chambers, Lady Macbeth demands, Give me the daggers:

concepts, like a painted devil, they cannot cause harm. Therefore, she is insisting that a picture

frantically trying to clean them off. She refers to the spot as damned, implying that it will
condemn her to hell. By directly referencing the old man, it is clear that the blood is Duncan s. The
past action of her being involved in Duncan s murder is reflected in her vision, and is perceived as
a wrongdoing. Visions reflect characters prior actions many times throughout the play. Such as
Macbeth s encounter with the ghost of Banquo. After Macbeth had spoken with the murders
about their successful killing of Banquo, he heads over to his banquet. He sees the ghost of
Banquo sitting in his chair, and Lady Macbeth and himself speak privately about it. She asks if
he is even a man since he is showing cowardice. He responds, Ay, and a bold one, that dare look

  • 2. Napping In Edgar Allan Poe s The Raven In the poem The Raven, by Edgar Allan Poe, he talks about how this raven that enters his room while he was nearly napping and how the narrator starts asking him questions and weirdly the raven answers with nevermore. At the beginning, Poe was describing how weak and weary he was, and while [he] nodded, nearly napping, suddenly there came a tapping on his door (Poe 1). Poe is entering a dream like state, it s like he was not sure if there was someone tapping on his door or he was in his dream hearing someone tapping on his door. Shortly, the narrator gets up to open the door and tells the taper that he was napping, and so gently you came tapping hardly he could hear that taps on his door (Poe 4). W. Bush and William Jefferson Clinton. These presidents were inaugurated at different times and succeeded the successes and the failures of their predecessors. Having came from different political backgrounds and having unique political and social beliefs, Bush, Reagan, and Clinton can only be analyzed through their foreign policies, domestic policies, achievements as well as shortcomings, and legacies. Reagan was fairly laissez faire and delivered on his promise to decrease government intervention by reducing federal regulations on business and industry, a policy preferably known as deregulation which had begun under Carter s presidency (Newman and Schmalbach 650). Nevertheless, Reagan opposed labor unions he once fired thousands of striking air traffics who were against their contracts and many businesses followed suit by taking strict measures against striking. As a result, labor union membership and striking drastically decreased as the economy grew tough during the Recession of 1982, and foreign competition for American jobs made jobs insecure and negatively affected worker s wages (Newman and Schmalbach). In 1982, investments and banks failed leading in a recession; the worst recession since the 1930 s during the Great Depression. Unemployment skyrocketed to 11 percent as compared to the usual unemployment rate which is normally 8 percent or under. Fortunately enough, a fall in oil prices prevented the double digit inflation rate similar to that of the late 1970 s by lowering it to 4 percent. • 4. Essay about Patrick Henry s Famous Speech Patrick Henry s Famous Speech Give me liberty or give me death. These famous words were uttered by Patrick Henry on March 23, 1775, as a conclusion to his speech delivered to the Virginia House of Burgesses. Within his speech, he uses the three rhetorical appeals (ethos, logos, and pathos) to convey a feeling of urgency toward the changes occurring in policy within the Americas implemented by the British government. He cleverly uses these appeals to disrupt the paradigm that Great Britain is going to let the American people have any liberty. The Purpose of this speech is to gain support for a freedom movement from the British government. One can see this when he states, ?Has Great Britain any enemy, in this quarter of the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The very first sentence, ?No man thinks more highly than I do of the patriotism, as well as abilities, of the very worthy gentlemen who have just addressed the house. But?? conveys the message of him caring about what others have said before he spoke. It also implies that he disagrees with some of their views, which he goes on to explain through deductive reasoning in his speech Patrick Henry uses logos in his speech by talking about Great Britain and how its military is infringing on the right of the people living in the Americas, and how ?a British guard shall be stationed in every house? when there is no war. The point he establishes about the extent of British abuse within America can also be viewed as pathos. Within Patrick Henry s speech, he states, ?? it is natural to man to indulge in the illusions of hope. We are apt to shut our eyes against a painful truth.? Here he is talking about the people in the House of Burgesses not realizing that the British are infringing on their rights as citizens. [And what have we to oppose to them? Shall we try argument? Sir, we have been trying that for the last ten years. Have we anything new to offer upon the subject? Nothing. We have held the subject up in every light of which it is capable; but it has been all in vain.] Using this series of statements, Patrick Henry presents a challenge to his peers. While ... Achieving Project Goals Simulation Achieving Project Goals Simulation Name Institutional Affiliation: Date: Achieving Project Goals Simulation How completing the simulation change my perspective of project management The completion of the stimulation has a critical impact on how I view the general outlook of project management in the society. Project management is a multifaceted activity that desires and requires diverse knowledge and skills from the concerned people. The simulation project had many considerations that took after manipulation of the natural skills and materials into meeting the elephant project. The directives that were of immense importance came from the knowledge and skills gained from the course materials and comparative approaches involved throughout the study period (Choudhury, 1988). After completing the project, I learnt immense skills and knowledge as regards going beyond extremes of time and activity in order to meet the objected and non objected calls of the project. The project on elephants had to be covered within the initial scope that was set during the creation of the project. In order to fulfill the needs and specifications of the project, the workers had to increase more of their attention, concentration, and determination. I perceive a project as a tedious and cheap avenue that can be accomplished if equitable plans have been set before its initialization. • 6. My Hero Essay Flames shot twenty feet into the air. Drums blared, guitars strum, and one tear escaped my eye. This was the greatest experience of my life, I was finally getting to see my hero, Paul McCartney. While most kids of the generation look up to the the likes of Justin Bieber, and Ariana Grande, I differ. My hero has integrity, he stands up for what he believes in, even if it s not a popular opinion. Even better is his ability to inspire, his lyrics and rhetoric make people change for the better. A true hero has the ability to make people act, not by force, but because they want to. It is not easy to stand up for what one believes in when he is criticised by the public or media. Being able to stand against the regular cultural norms and do what is right is a strong identifier of integrity, and that is what Paul McCartney does. The greatest example of this was in the late 60 s, when Paul was a Beatle. This was the stadium era, a time for concert goers that was ushered in by The Beatles. The unfortunate piece of the however, was the fact that this era still involved segregation. Paul and the Beatles would not stand for this tolerance, the most amazing piece to keep in mind is that at the time they were just teenagers. They showed integrity when after hearing that a concert of theirs would be segregated they released this statement We never play to segregated audiences and we aren t going to start now. • 7. Comparing Daoism, Confucianism, And Legalism In Classical... Three of the major religious philosophies in Classical China were Daoism, Confucianism, and Legalism. Daoism was a religious philosophy that the upper class favored to strengthen their traditional Chinese beliefs, especially those relating to nature. Daoism told people to have harmony with nature by living frugally and with humility. On the other hand, Confucianismwas centered around ethics. Confucianism s main teachings were to treat others based on both of your positions in society and it did not discuss magic or mysteries, but instead made sure that everyone understood their place in society. Legalism, another system of political thought, consisted of an authoritarian state and strict rule. Legalists believed that human nature was bad and needed to be controlled. In a Legalist state, the army was in control while the people worked. Although these teaching were are very different, they were all found in Classical China. The Chinese state and its political institutions developed over time. First of all, even though the Zhou dynasty lacked a strong government, they discouraged previous religious practices such as human sacrifice, they promoted a standard language, and took over the Yangtze River valley which provided new territory and food. How A Man Copes With Life Unrealized Essay How a Man Copes with Life Unrealized (Death) The Metamorphosis, by Franz Kafka is a written expression of a man s struggle with a life of unsatisfactory expectations. He is so disgusted with his current prospects of his dreary existence, his only hope of dealing is to reach deep into his mind and see something other than himself, he, Gregor, found himself changed in his bed into a monstrous vermin (Damrosch, 2009). How did he get here? How did life, his useless life suck the very humanity out of him? The family that he made this life altering sacrifice for is changing as well, losing their humanity, things can t go on like this, we have to try to get rid of it (Damrosch, 2009). A character analysis of Gregor noted this regarding the family but their metamorphosis are the most profound because they demonstrate how easily one s beliefs, values, and basic treatment of others can be compromised because of a failure to adapt psychologically (Article Myriad, 2015). • 13. Change Progress and Prosperity Change Progress and Prosperity The Harvest took place in a small, secluded, and self reliant agricultural community in England, before the industrial revolution. The novel was based on change, growth, progress and prosperity. The village, as the narrator Walter Thirsk stated was, far from everywhere (Crace, 3) and isolated from the world. The village was also fragmented and missing any development of identity. The commons were the people living in the unnamed village. The commons way of life changed from harvesting and plowing to extracting wool for clothing. Jim Craceexamined the themes of changeand fragmentation by the loss of identity and way of life through the use of symbols, characters, and imagery. In the Harvest, symbolism was evident throughout the novel. Symbols are commonly used to add richness and depth to the story. The author used symbols to develop the main themes of change and fragmentation. During the course of the novel, the most significant symbols included: fire, crops, ghost, unfinished cross, quills, sheep, wool, and the rock. In the novel, fire was the most impactful symbol. The novel started with two fires and ended in one. What starts with fire will end with fire (Crace, 198). Most cultures and religions have specific events, ceremonies, or celebrations associated with coming of age. The second a Spartan child was born, they were tested to make sure they embodied the perfect image of a Spartan soldier. They tested children by dipping them into a bath of wine to test their strength and determination. Spartans believed that a weak child would convulse and die. If the child passed, they were then taken to a group of elders. If the Elders found the child deficient in any way they would be left on the sides of Mount Taygetos to die. Like art the definition of literature can vary from one individual to another and before studying these subjects the audience should establish their own definition so that they can look for themes and symbols in the piece. In my opinion I believe that literature should be defined as any fictitious work that implements symbols, and other literary devices, to convey different themes and messages below the surface of the text. With this interpretation of literature I think that its purpose is to give the audience insight into the lives of others and make statements about our society. When utilized correctly, CSR is an investment with risk, but one worth taking. Calculating Corporate Social Performance Whether CSR costs a company money or earns them money can be a challenging topic to argue. There are many factors that are considered when assessing a company s long term financial performance and its relationship between the company s CSR and their revenue. These factors include a company s CSP (Corporate Social Performance, or the measure of CSR), size, risk taken, economic scaling, and competition. However, there are several additional variables that are commonly forgotten and must be considered when calculating the effect a company s CSR has on their financial situation. R D for example has a major impact on a company s long term economic performance, as it leads to improved knowledge and increased ingenuity on the company s operations and products. Positive returns on R D investments can lead to increased shareholder returns and increased profits. Industry advertising intensity is also a variable that is often omitted, but must be included in this calculation. This accounts for any industry entry barriers. These barriers are industry wide and may cause an increase in a company s revenue. When R D and advertising intensity are left out of the equation, then the positive effect of the company s CSR will be greatly exaggerated. In 2000, researchers Abigail Williams and Donald Siegel entered each of these variables into an ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Our daily lives are filled with plethora of gadgets, services, and machines that make our lives easier. Back in the mid 19th century there where not as many comforts as we have today. However, you would still have given up luxuries, if you decided to go live in a cabin in the woods. Henry D. Thoreau did just this when he built a house on the shores of Walden Pond. I believe that he did this to define the limits of his own strengths and connect with nature. In society, as it was back then and how it is now, social interaction is a great comfort. It allows for us to satisfy our need to feel connected with other people and also share important information. At Walden Pond Thoreau lived a mile away from his closest neighbor. Except for a few interactions when he would go to town for needed supplies or people passing by close to his cabin, social interactions where few. In this manner Thoreau was able to define his strength by showing his lack of reliance in social interaction. In the absence of other people Thoreau was able to be left alone to think about and connect with nature. If today we wanted to find out strengths and connect with nature, just like Thoreau, are there comforts in our modern society preventing us from doing so? In my opinion there are. • 46. Difference Between Modernization Theory And Dependency... Final Exam Ehsan Rahmanian Professor Mitu Sengupta December 8 2016 1. What are the main differences between modernization theory and dependency theory? Does the human development approach represent a radical departure from both? Modernization theory is a hypothesis used to clarify the procedure of modernization that a country experiences as it moves from a simple society to a modern one. Dependency theory is the idea that assets spill out of a fringe of poor and immature states to a centre of rich states, enhancing the latter to the detriment of the former. These two theories contrast in that modernization theory clarifies how created states work and develop, whereas dependency theory outline how work and develop are restricted. Modernization theory clarifies the advancement and improvement of innovation in more steady regions of the world (Culp, 2014). Dependency theory looks at the impacts that modernization in one district has on different parts of the world. Dependency theory is more comprehensive than modernization theory. Modernization theory emphasises that instruction, innovation and broad communications are noteworthy reasons why created districts pull ahead from others. Be that as it may, modernization theory does not operate on a worldwide scale where the assets, work and power originate to make this advancement conceivable. In modernization theory, the majority of the advancements that local areas or states make originate from an aggregate interior exertion. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
