The Health Facility Tours During Austria
The health facility tours in Austria were conducted at two hospitals, Barmherzige Bruder in
Salzburg and tirol kliniken s central hospital in Innsbruck. Barmherzige Bruder is a hospital based
in a monastery. Tirol kliniken s central hospital is part of a larger hospital system serving the Tirol
region of Austria. Both hospitals resembled U.S. hospitals physically; but, both hospitals had a
cleaner feel. The hospitals were quieter than then ones I ve been in the U.S. Less people were in
the common spaces.
Like some of the U.S. s university based teaching hospitals, tirol kliniken s hospital in Innsbruck is
associated with a University. The University hospital had spacious patient rooms in the neurology
department and many rooms appeared empty. A pneumatic tube delivery system delivered mail and
other things to different department s including samples to the central lab. The emergency room
was set up with two distinct units. One unit handled injuries involving blood and did not have any
rooms. This unit triaged individuals behind curtains and moved the patient to the part of the
hospital best equipped to deal with their condition. The second unit handled all other illnesses and
had six beds. Finally, we were able to tour the heliport. Due to the rural and mountainous
conditions, helicopters are placed strategically in the Tirol region where accidents are likely to
occur and other vehicles can t gain access. The helicopters are staffed with one doctor and

The Spanish And Mexican Period
1. The story line I am going to talk about is power and oppression, throughout California s history
there has been many events of power and oppression that has shaped California s history in many
ways. I selected this storyline because I am able to relate many of these events that have happened
throughout history. I will described the Spanish and Mexican period, the Americanization period,
the early 20th century, and the late 20th century to today.
First I will begin with the Spanish and Mexican period 1776 1846, during these period we could
see that there was a lot of power and oppression that started with the Spanish conquest to expand
their colonization. The spanish brought with them christianity trying to convert Native Americans
to become that same religion, the spanish developed a series of presidios, missions, and pueblos
in the lands of Native Americans where they were forced to change their religion, customs, and
culture to become part of the Spanish. Many Native Americans were killed by the Spanish soldiers
when they would decline to change their way of living. The Spanish practice oppression trying to
convert this people into christianity this is an example of the power and oppression the spanish
used during these period of time. After Mexico became independent from the Spanish empire the
Mexican government took control of California and during these period, the Mexican government
put an end to the mission/presidio system. The Mexican government allowed

Difference Between Modernist Drama And Realist Drama
This essay aims to show and discuss the ways in which modernist drama is different to realist
drama. To do this the essay will focus on the conventions of language and subject identity to show
how modernist drama challenges the ways of realist drama. This essay will first outline what
modernism is. It will then look at the conventions of both language and subject identity separately,
providing examples where needed. Finally, the essay will look at Pirandello s play and discuss
how it relates to the modernist dramastyle before concluding.
When something is considered contemporary or in style, it is considered to be modern. From the
late 18th century to the early 19th century there was a shift in history. There was a rise in
capitalist societies and an increase in industrial productivity. This created the start of modernity.
Macey (2001) refers to modernity as the period of the modern. The changes in the world
demanded a response from art. All forms of art had to create a new way of thought for this new
world. This is how modernism or the modernist ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the play Krapp s Last Tape by Beckett (1958) language is delivered to the audience in a new
way. The use of a tape recorder changes the way time in a play works. One can say that Beckett
found a way to loophole the fact that play s cannot have flashbacks. Krapp listens to his younger
self on his tape recorder and finds that some of the language used was now meaningless to his
older self. This shows that language is contextual. The language used in the stage directions are
quite unusual such as rusty black and wearish old man. While one can visualise what these words
mean, there is no standard definition for the words. In a play by Pinter (1985) called The Birthday
Party the characters often have meaningless or vague conversations. In the first act Meg repeatedly
asked Petey, Is that you? This shows the redundancy of some

Essay on Drug Enforcement Administration
What I Know About the Drug Enforcement Administration The Drug Enforcement Administration
(DEA) works to lessen and eliminate the use, transportation, and sale of drugs in the United States.
They are the only government organized organization with the purpose of controlling drug traffic.
The Drug Enforcement Administration seems to be most known for their role in stopping drug
transportation across borders by use of DEA officers, police trained dogs, and other tools. To my
knowledge the DEA may have many other roles, possibly including the elimination of drug
manufacturing throughout the world, tracking down and stopping major drug trafficking
organizations within the United States border, US territories, and minor outlying islands. I... Show

During the late seventies and early 80 s, the Drug Enforcement Administration tightened drug
controls and expanded its programs.
The eighties saw the introduction of new technology into the DEA, such as CAT (real time vehicle
tracking system) and newly available cordless phones. Francis M. Mullen Junior was the acting
administrator from 1981 to 1985. In 1982, the Drug Enforcement Administration officially joined
forces with the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI). Many drug investigations were successful
during this time period, including one bust resulting in the seizure of over 1600lbs of cocaine.
In 1984 and amendment to the Controlled Substances Act was passed. The amendment provided
additional authority for the denial or revocation of a practitioner controlled substance registration
based on a demonstration that such registration was contrary to the public interest as described
by the Drug Enforcement Administration history on www.dea.gov. In 1986, the DEA began one
of its most successful programs, the Drug Free Workplace program. By 1988, over 2,000 drug
tests were conducted (including 1,600 random tests) as part of the drug free workplace program.
During the late 1980s and early 1990 s, Americans became more aware of drug use and trafficking,
however abuse of the drugs increased significantly. President George H.W. Bush focused national
efforts on a plan to cut both the supply and demand of illegal drugs.
Cocaine and crack were the number one

Comparing The Sixth Sense And The Shining
What if you had a unique ability? What would you do with it? How would you use it? In the
movies, The Sixth Sense and The Shining, that is just what the main characters have the ability to
achieve, a supernatural ability. The Shining revolves around five year old Danny Torrance. Danny
s father, Jack, receives a job at the overlook hotelas caretaker. After moving into the hotel and
residing there for five months Danny s supernatural ability advises Danny of a tragic event that is
soon to occur in the hotel. After Danny s father is taken over by the spirits and goes insane trying

Both The Shining and The Sixth Sense share a common theme. A theme that is found in both
movies is a supernatural theme. When an event occurs that is supernatural, it is most times
perceived as a frightening, almost terrifying event. In both movies there were many supernatural
occurrences. For instance, in The Shining, when Jack enters room 237 he sees a young woman
sitting in the tub, a ghoul. Upon seeing Jack, the ghoul slowly pushes back the curtain and
immerges from the tub walking towards Jack. Jack seeing a, sexual invitation, advances towards
the women. The women grabs his face and begins kissing him. Jack notices in the mirror that the
women is rotting and becomes frightened, and runs away while the ghoul laughs hysterically.
This is bizarre for the reason that the only humans in the Overlook hotel are Danny, his mother
Wendy, and his father Jack. Therefore it can be concluded that the ghoul is a ghost in the hotel.
There are also scenes towards, the end of the movie, that display to the viewer that the hotel is
aiding Jack in killing his wife Wendy. For example, when Wendy is escaping the Overlook Hotel
towards the end she meets up with the ghost with a bloody hand as a way of stalling her from
escaping before her son is killed. Both these instances, along with many more, prove the theme of
supernatural in the movie The

ADD and ADHD Essay
ADD and ADHD
Although American culture has changed over the years, parents today still want what is best for
their children. Why then, are parents allowing their children to be put on medications that may
have an adverse effect on their children? Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD) and Attention Deficit
Hyperactive Disorder (ADHD) have increasingly been diagnosed among young children today.
Parents should become more informed about the over diagnosing, side effects, results of the
medication and all other pertinent information before they allow their children to become treated.
In this research paper we are first going to look at why ADD and ADHD diagnosing has become so
widespread. Then we will look into the side effects of Ritalin; the ... Show more content on

Due to new federal programs and funding, (in 1991 federal education I grant were changed to
provide schools with $400 per each student diagnosed with ADD) schools are now allocated with
in school clinics and psychologists to help determine if students have learning disabilities. As a
result of these new federal programs, and funding, schools today are no longer held responsible
for a student s lack of performance. Now schools have a new efficient system to protect
themselves. It works like this: if a child has trouble in math, he is deemed to have a mental
disorder under code number 315.1 Mathematics Disorder, if a child can t write literature
composition he/she must be suffering from code 315.2 Disorder in written Expression. (DeWeese)
The list goes on and on and it is quite obvious that schools are well protected.
Teachers also play a key role in the over diagnosing of ADD and ADHD. Teachers today,
although they only receive education up to a master s degree to teach in K 12th grade, have
become psychiatric doctors. Teachers are given lists of symptoms and unacceptable behaviors and
instructed that if a student fits into the category they are to be marked and labeled, and the
paperwork should be written up to begin their drug treatment. This may seem too outlandish to
believe, but, I assure you this is how we have allowed are school system to become.
Finally, I think that we need to look at the

The Pros And Cons Of Attending A Post High School
Most young adults out there go through the decision of whether or not they should attend a post
high school institution, not knowing if that is the best decision for them. This essay explores the
pros and cons of attending/graduating from college.
Let s imagine a man named Steve. Steve is twenty three years old, working at a fast food place.
He s been working there for the past five years and hasn t moved up in rank. A manager position
just opened up, so he applies, but the supervisor gives the job to someone else because that
particular job required a college background. Steve would have had the job if only he d gone to

College isn t free. There is free money out there, but it can be tough to get. The Government does
give out Grants to low income students, but that requires the filling out of an online application
and everything has to be just right in order for someone to receive a decent amount of money. If
one manages to receive a grant, most of the time the money one receives isn t enough to pay for the
entire fees/tuition.
Yes, there are a lot of scholarships out there, but if one doesn t have the right ACT score, the best
Grade Point Average, or excellent writing skills, chances are one isn t going to be selected to
receive that scholarship money.
If all else fails, there s still loans, but they aren t a good option. Most student loans do come with
low interest rates and don t have to be payed back as long as the person stays in school, but
because of this, it is easy to be convinced that loans are acceptable. An average college graduate
leaves school with about 25,000 dollars in student loan debt that they have to start paying off a
few months after graduation. A college degree doesn t equal a good job. One may not realize that
the chosen major won t lead to a successful life. Most college students change their major seven

Multi-Generational Workforce
Today s working environment has experienced a major transformation over the last decade,
particularly in terms of population diversity in the workforce. There are currently four main
generations dominating the workforce, they are made up of Silents, Baby Boomers, Generation X
and Generation Y. It is expected that in the coming decades there will be further changes with
emergence of newer generations, and slower removal of older generations from organizations as
pension age increases. Understanding differences between the generations, and learning to adapt
their management practices is critical to building a successful multigenerational workplace. I would

A report published by Adecco on workplace revolution outlined Gen Y s work ethics and
behaviors. According to the report, they enjoy a work life balance, akin to Gen X, and prefer to
work with bright and creative people. They are participative as opposed to directive, enjoy multi
tasking and are goal oriented. They are also considered the most educated and self aware
generation in employment. According to an Ernest Young report on the rise of young managers in
the workplace, this generation were not considered to be team players and have an attitude of
entitlement. This was also noted by Jean Twenge in her book Generation me. In terms of
management, they are considered inclusive leaders and enjoy diversification and input when
making decisions. The future generation of workers, according to Amy Glass, are referred to as
generation Z. Generation Z are those born approximately after 1995 and are even more reliant on
new technology and in particular communication technologies. There is little knowledge yet of this
generation in terms of attitude and characteristics in the workplace given that the eldest of this
generation are now coming into their late teens. In the next decade however, we can expect to see
this generation joining the workforce. The Next Generation of Workers written by Lily Guthrie of
The Ken Blanchard Companies, Office of the Future, highlights the importance of awareness and

Arn Chorn Pond was a sweet little boy before it all started. He would go outside and play with

from their families. A lot of people got killed for no reason or they died from a disease or
starvation. They had to get up very early in the morning and work in the rice field until bedtime.
They would get very little food and very little sleep. So many people were killed without any
explanation. After a few years of working hard and not getting enough rest they went into war.

situation is very common throughout the whole world. So many kids and even adults suffer in
their own countries because of genocide. So many innocent people get separated from their
families or get killed without explanation. Most don t have the choice of being part of this or
not. They will get threatened that if they don t do what they ask they may get killed. This issue is
a very debated subject. Some people argue that it is not the United States responsibility to step in

Analysis Of Public Key Encryption
1 INTRODUCTION
Public key encryption is a powerful mechanism for ensuring the confidentiality of stored and
transmitted data. The traditional encryption is regarded as a method to share data to some
targeted person or device that the sender knows. This means the sender knows specifically which
user he wants to share with. However, in many systems the message sender will want to share
date with a group of people whose credentials or attributes accord to some access policy set by the
sender.[8][9]A new vision of encryption[10]was presented, where the sender can express how he
wants to share data in the encryption algorithm itself. The sender will give an attribute formula to
describe the users who can decrypt this data. Then only those whose ... Show more content on

Then, users use their attribute private key to decrypt the cipher text. In this case it is the users
attribute instead of the traditional public key that is matched with their private key.
CP ABE is extremely efficient and secure in the system in terms of the fine grained access control
of attributes. Theoretically, based on some previous researches, this paper will simply introduce the
algorithm scheme and how it working. Practically, I will compare some libraries which implement
CP ABE and try to implement a small program using these different libraries
2 BACKGROUND OF RESEARCH
In 2007, a new methodology for realizing Ciphertext Policy Attribute
Encryption (CP ABE)[3]under concrete and non interactive cryptographic assumptions in the
standard model came out and a basic framework of this model was constructed. This scheme,
referred as BSW scheme, uses threshold secret sharing to enforce the policy. The main drawback
of BSW scheme is the complexity and computing time in decryption phase, which requires may
expensive pairing and exponentiation operations. In 2009, there is a scheme of CP ABE
mentioned before was presented, which is efficient and provable secure.[5]This scheme can
express any access policy involving AND, OR and OF operator (threshold) by defining the privacy
policy through access tree instead of threshold secret sharing which

Raymund Maximilian Kolbe Thesis
What is a saint? A saint is a person of great holiness, who has performed miracles for God s
cause. What is a martyr? A martyr is someone who dies for what they believe in, just like
Maximilian Kolbe. Raymund Maximilian Kolbe was born January 8, 1894. He was born in
Zdunska Wola, in Poland. Both parents, Marianna and Juliusz, were very holy, and dedicated
much of their time and money to teach their children about the catholic faith. (Gale BIC, 2)
They were both poor weavers, who traded with Jewish merchants. From a young age,
Maximilian was very fond of his faith. He enjoyed church, and loved to pray. In 1907, Max and
his brothers decided to move to an all boys Franciscan school. Their mother was supportive of
this decision, because she wanted to shield the boys from the other sex. When he turned sixteen
in 1910, he was going to join the army, but his mother thought he was fit for the priesthood.
(Gale BIC, 4) So, Kolbe relented, and in 1912, arrived in Rome, and spend the next seven years

Apologetics Definition
Apologetics In definition, Apologetics is to argue, or better said, justify your beliefs. Typically,
it follows up with religious topics that people, for whatever reason, feel the need to scuffle over
what they believe to be right or wrong. As we all know, religion has been the main topic in most
fights for eons and has yet to even falter over time. From observations, I ve noticed that
individuals tend to get rather heated over the subject, and have even been known to cause harm to
one another if so inclined to do so. Personally, I don t believe Apologetics is necessary under most
circumstances. If one feels so powerless in their faith to have to fight about it, they probably
shouldn t bother having one at all. This comes to the main question

Crimes against Humanity Examples in the Nuremberg Trials
Perhaps some of the most popular examples of crimes against humanity are those that were
investigated during the Nuremberg trials, which took position from 1945 to 1949. The very
objective of these 13 trials was to try Nazi Party officials, and also the German doctors, and
businessmen, lawyers who were linked with them, for the crimes they had done against humanity
during WWII. The trials became historic for buildup precedent in how international courts should
deal with facts like genocide and other examples of crimes against humanity.
These crimes start shortly after Adolf Hitler rose to power in Germany in 1933. With the Nazi
government, Hitler made and carried out policies designed to persecute the Jews, and anyone else
that he suppose to be a threat to his vision of a perfect Nazi state. Hitler s policies continued to
become more and more threat until World War II at last ended in 1945. By that point, it is
estimated that the Nazis had, with the grant of their government, killed approximately six million
Jews, and between four and six million non Jews.
The trials of the Major War Criminals, heard the cases of twenty four individuals who were accused
on charges of crimes against humanity. Also, six Nazi

How Did Denis Diderot Contribute To The Enlightenment
The Enlightenment is a period in history where people began to change the way they think. This
period is also known as The Age of Reason or The Long 18th Century , which occurred during the
late 1600s to early 1800s, this period was also enabled by the Scientific Revolution around the
1500s. During this time there were revolutionary advancements in philosophy, science, literature,
art, religion, and politics. Mainly, this period possessed many great philosophers who used science
and reason to question traditional ideas and the way things were done in European and United
States society. Philosophers had the greatest voices during this time and they were successful in
using it to refine the world. This time in history had a lasting effect... Show more content on

Denis Diderot s works of literature were the most memorable thing of Diderot s career. He wrote
many books, papers, theories that had lasting impressions on so many. The people had access to
education or knowledge through his literature that wasn t found everywhere because his ideas
went against many rules in his society. Diderot wrote as if his ideas couldn t be limited even
though they were, consequences were given to him for many of his books. The most influential
book he was a part of was the EncyclopГ©die, which he was an editor and writer in. The
EncyclopГ©die is a book filled with teachings on so many subjects like science, literature, math,
religion, and government. The book was created by many teachers, priests, scientists,
mathematicians, and even Diderot had some part in it. The main purpose of creating the book was
to bring knowledge from all over the world, break it down and help people educate themselves from
it. Diderot and the other writers of the book believed that education was the way towards truth.
Diderot undertook the task with the distinguished mathematician Jean Le Rond d Alembert as co
editor and profoundly changed the nature of the publication, broadening its scope and turning it
into an important organ of radical and revolutionary opinion. The encyclopГ©distes sought to
further knowledge and, by so doing, to strike a resounding blow against reactionary forces in the
church and the state. Diderot acted upon his beliefs through his writing. There were people who
had similar minds as Diderot in the way they saw certain things. He wanted to change the fact that
during his time the French government was a monarchy that limited people and that the Catholic
Church had power which they chose to abuse.

Social Conformity And Consumerism In American Culture

Consumerism is the protection or promotion of the interests of consumers, when we spending

performances can be monitored, and excessive speed, or other aggressive driving behaviors, can

requirements may involve confining work hours to certain times of the day only. Project managers

teaching one of these basic subjects. I do not believe there should be a curriculum that excludes
one form or another of math. It is important for our students to know math and these other basic
subjects if we want to be able to compete with the rest of the world economically and
technologically. Not only must students sit in a class where these subjects are taught, but they
also need to master the material before they move on to the next grade. This is the job of the
teacher. It is up to the teacher to make sure that his students understand the material and can do it
on their own before he moves on to something else. I believe that the grade a student makes
reflects the teacher. If a student makes an F, the teacher has failed in his teaching of that student.
This does not mean that the teacher should make his class easy. I still agree with the essentialist
that academic rigor is an essential component of education. However, I do not agree that this
necessitates a great amount of homework. The level of work can be tough and stretch the minds of
the students, but if the teacher is able to teach his students well in class and they comprehend the
material and can practice it during the class period, I do not think a lot of homework

A Successful Business Leadership Style
The ultimate aim of this research is to highlight a successful business leadership style. The intention
is to research business leadership in the developing countries, and devise a new framework or
strategy that can be used by businesses and education systems within developing countries and
possibly other Asian countries. This framework would identify the qualities necessary to develop an
appropriate leadershipstyle to be an effective leader in organisations operating. This will be
achieved by investigating the social and cultural environment and look at how these forces affect
the business environment, and in particular the qualities of a good leader within the organisation.
The research aims to fill a gap in the existing body of knowledge to do with leadership and
managementin different regions of the world.
LITERATURE REVIEW
Background
Broadly speaking, leadership can be defined as a process in which an individual influences a
group of individuals to work towards the achievement of a common goal or vision (Lussier, 1996;
Northouse, 2001; Stogdill, 1974). Moreover, Bush and Coleman (2000) note that since most of
what has been written about leadership draws upon western cultural models, it should be borne in
mind that leadership might well be viewed differently in different cultures.
The difference between leadership and management is vividly encapsulated in Bass s model of
transformational and transactional leadership styles. Transformational leaders

Life Accomplishments Of A Wild Elephant
On April 13, 1796, Barnum and Bailey Circus purchased a two year old female, Asian elephant for
one thousand dollars. This is the first of many elephants that were purchased for the two largest
circuses in America, Barnum and Bailey and Ringling Bros Circus. While today there are only
around sixty nine elephants that are still involved in the circusact, there was at one time
approximately three hundred and five. The U.S. Department of Agriculture oversees the Animal
Welfare Act (AWA) and does not distinguish between zoos and circuses. This implies that the main
goals of the zoos and circuses is the same, to use animals commercially and public exhibition.

Elephants can walk up to forty miles in the wild, but hardly get enough exercise to keep them
alive in circuses and zoos. They are forced to sleep and walk on concrete floors and are often on
train cars most of their life. This can cause arthritis, foot abscesses, and other foot and joint dangers.
The average lifespan of a wild elephant is anywhere from sixty to seventy years old. Because of
chronic health problems such as tuberculosis, arthritis, and foot abscesses, captive elephants are
lucky if they live forty years. The oldest captive elephant, Peaches, died at the age of fifty five in
2005 at the Lincoln Park Zoo. Furthermore, attempting the breed captive elephants has been highly
unsuccessful. Of the five elephants born in 2003, three of them died within the first twelve months.
Aside from humans, elephants have no natural enemies. When left alone, elephants are peaceful
creatures and not aggressive. Naturally, elephants do not stand on their hind legs or on their heads
or perform tricks you see at the circus. In order to make an animal perform an act they do not
understand, you must literally beat them into submission. This practices are demeaning, unnatural
and cause fear in the elephants. They are routinely beaten, shocked, abused, and chained for days at

Different Systems in a Human Body Essay
Human Body System Interaction
.
All the systems in the human body are vital to our survival and well being. If you take away the
functions of just one of these systems our whole body will cease to work properly. The main
systems of the human body are the nervous, endocrine respiratory, circulatory, immune, digestive,
excretory, skeletal, muscular, and the reproductive systems. They all work together in harmony and
unison to keep us alive. The nervous and endocrine systems are what control most of the body. The
nervous system includes the brain, spinal, cord and nerves. The endocrine system consists of
various hormonal glands such as the pituitary. These two systems interact closely since they both

Without the respiratory system our body would just be an airless lump. The circulatory and
immune systems are two very closely related systems. The circulatory is composed out of blood
vessels, the heart, and blood. The immune system is made up of white blood cells and various
lymph nodes. Basically, most of the immune system is found inside the blood of the circulatory
system. The circulatory system provides the body with blood. It gives the kidneys of the
digestive system something to filter and picks up nutrients from the small intestines. It also picks
up air from the lungs of the respiratory system and provides the brain of the nervous system with
blood, along with the rests of the body. Protection from wounds in the integumentary system is
also provided by the circulatory system which has platelets that aid in blood clotting and forming
scabs. The immune system protects all the other systems from disease and helps them from being
attacked by viruses and bacteria. It also aids the ears of the nervous system with some very
protective earwax. The circulatory system provides us with life fluid while the immune system
protects that fluid and the rest of our body. The digestive and excretory systems help the body with
the wonderful task of food. The digestive system is composed of the stomach, mouth, liver,
pancreas, and the large and small intestine. It digests food and provides the

Summary Of Socrates Cave
At the beginning of Book Seven, in an attempt to better describe the education of the philosopher
Socrates begins to set up an analogy with an ascent and descent into the cave . In Socrates cave
analogy there was a group of people who were from childhood held in a dimly lit underground
cave. The people were kept there in bonds that were designed to allow them to only what was in
front of them by depriving them of the ability to turn their heads around. Also present in Socrates
cave was a certain wall or partition separating the prisoners from another group of people who
simply walked along a path carrying statues shaped after all that of beings and occasionally uttering
sounds as the others remained quiet. The shadows of the statues... Show more content on

The final phase Socrates says the prisoner will go through will be his studying of the heavens by
this point he believes the prisoner will be able to himself come up with conclusions regard the
sun as the source of the seasons and the years (516c) and simply the cause for all he now sees
and all he once saw. According to Socrates the prisoner will eventually recall the lifestyle and the
people he left behind and began to feel a sense of pity for them but will cherish experience he
has received on the surface. He says that if the prisoner were to ever return to the cave he would
face the pain of having to readjust to the light in the cave and the ridicule of the prisoner who will
see him as someone who has lost sight of the truth instead of the newly enlightened soul he is. It
seems to me that Socrates has set up each part of this analogy to represent a separate part of the
philosophers struggle toward truly becoming a philosopher and achieving the study of philosophy.
The cave itself seems to represent the societal norms that will be forced upon the upcoming
philosopher from birth. While the philosopher is being brought up knowing only one thing as the
truth he must find the strength to break himself free of the chains that bind him to the non
philosophical souls of society and begin to question what is known as truth .

Longing For Love
A Comparative Essay By Jack Ettlinger
In the song I Just Haven t Met You Yet (IJHMYY) written and composed by Michael Buble, themes
such as love, optimism, and loneliness are all are evident. These themes are also found in the song
Love Song For No One (LSFNO), written and composed by John Mayer, but optimism is replaced
by pessimism. Both of these songs are about a man longing for love; however, in the first, the man
is optimistic and hopeful, while in the second he is getting anxious and a little doubtful. The way
that the themes are portrayed are both similar and different in that they are about love, optimism
/pessimism and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Mayer says that he has been, searching all my days just to find you not sure who I m looking for,
and the listener feels his exhaustion, sadness and most of all, his loneliness.
In his song, Michael Buble is clearly lonely, but his loneliness in motivating him to persevere in
his life, and to find the one that will complete him. The lyric I know someday that it ll all turn
out, you ll make me work, so we can work to work it out shows this. He knows that the love of
his life is out there and that she is coming, and therefore his loneliness feels temporary. There is,
in his mind, an end in sight. He understands that he has to be patient: I might have to wait, I ll
never give up, I guess it s half timing and the other half s luck. Buble trusts that love is coming for
him. He knows he won t have to be lonely for too long.
The songs, I Just Haven t Met you Yet, and Love Song For No One both focus on the theme of
love, and at first glance, can be perceived as very similar. But by dissecting the lyrics and looking
more closely at the undertones and messages of both songs, we find that they are actually almost
opposite in their approach to the mystery of love.
As an ending note, John Mayer is still girlfriend less, while, as a true example of life imitating
art, Michael Buble is engaged to the beautiful model who played the girl of his dreams in the video
for his hit song. I guess he really did meet her after all.

Careful Manipulation in Coleridge s Kubla Khan Essay
Careful Manipulation in Coleridge s Kubla Khan
In his preface to Kubla Khan, Samuel Taylor Coleridge makes the claim that his poem is a virtual
recording of something given to him in a drug induced reverie, if that indeed can be called
composition in which all the images rose up before him as things . . . without any sensation or
consciousness of effort. As spontaneous and as much a product of the unconscious or dreaming
world as the poem might seem on first reading, however, it is also a finely structured, well wrought
device that suggests the careful manipulation by the conscious mind.
The first verse paragraph of Coleridge s Kubla Khan is the most ornately patterned part of the poem.

The whole thing is girdled round, with the walls and towers of Kubla Khan s fancy. Nature is
controlled, set apart; pattern and order have been asserted and established as supreme.
The first line of the second stanza But oh! that deep romantic chasm which slanted carries an
extra half beat; the easy rhythms and order of the first paragraph are upset as we move into A
savage place or begin to recognize the place for what it really is, beneath the surface. We become
more and more aware of contradictions being held together: the contrasting ideas of nature and
artifice of the first stanza, the holy and enchanted (the sacred and the pagan). The sacred river,
Alph, takes on its own voice in the following lines:
And from this chasm, with ceaseless turmoil seething,
As if this earth in fast thick pants were breathing,
A mighty fountain momently was forced:
Amid whose swift half intermitted burst
Huge fragments vaulted like rebounding hail.
The production of sounds has become difficult, forced, like giving birth to something: forced and
burst. The last line of this sentence begins with a spondee HUGE FRAGments, two hard stresses,
and the line breaks down in harsh, diphthong sounds: vaulted like rebounding hail.
The river s rapids create the dancing rocks, as we see in another contrast of elements moving water
and rocky earth the contrast again of art (in the dance) and nature (in the

The Female Characters Of The Film, By Pan s Labyrinth
Patriarchy is described as a general structure where men hold the position of power over women.
This could include being the head of the household, upper level in the workplace, or leader in
society. Cinema serves this patriarchal institution by constantly constructing ideological images of
women. Since the beginning, women in film are made to conform to the ideal image that the man
has of them (Smelik, 496). Essentially, Hollywood cinema is structured for the male audience,
and therefore majority of films are classified as patriarchal. A lot has to do with how female
characters are portrayed and if there is a male gazein the film. Although Pan s Labyrinth is
constructed through the classic narrative mode, the film has a female lead and focuses on women.
Del Toro demonstrates the female characters overcoming obstacles and stigmas. Ofelia and
Mercedes are the two strong female protagonists who are good natured and act to what they think
is right, different from the passive or aggressive protagonists found in traditional fairytales. So,
how do these two women subvert and problematize the patriarchal stereotype? In the paper, I will
analyze the mise en scene of the two different worlds and the inclusion of the male gaze to
establish how these women subvert and problematize the patriarchal stereotype. To start off, there
are two worlds depicted within the film; a hostile fascist government in Spain and an enchanted
fantasy world. In the real world, the form is strictly

Moving Away at a Young Age
Moving far away from family and friends can be tough on a child at a young age. It has its pros

how to deal with adjusting to new ways of life. Everything seems so different and at a young age

All I have to say about A Rose for Emily is that she was a crazy person! Faulkner is a really
worthy and famous writer that has a lot to say in his writings and I think that he accomplishes
that when he writes. On December 10, he delivered his acceptance speech to the academy in a
voice so low and rapid that few could make out what he was saying, but when his words were
published in the newspaper the following day, it was recognized for its brilliance; in later years,
Faulkner s speech would be lauded as the best speech ever given at a Nobel ceremony. (Padgett)

There were a lot of different emotions that were represented in this selection, but Faulkner didn t

better than yourself. An artist is a creature driven by demons. He doesn t know why they choose
him and he s usually too busy to wonder why. He is completely amoral in that he will rob,
borrow, beg, or steal from anybody and everybody to get the work done. (Faulkner/Stein) When he
talks he uses a lot of emotion and that shows his style of writing. William Faulkner gave a Nobel

when he writes and one of the challenges is pity and sacrifice which has been the glory of the
past. When he writes he is saying that the people who have had pity thrown upon them and the
people who have made their sacrifices are the only ones who get the glory. The human drama in
Faulkner s novels is then built on the model of the actual, historical drama extending over almost

Avon s wide and persistent gap between net income and free cash flows have been highlighted as
the main reason for the company s problems. The gap indicates that the company s investments aren

Due to the company s reliance on its direct selling business model, earning potential and
satisfaction of its representatives and maintaining its business model are essential for the company
s success in global markets Thus, I would treat every market with a separate strategy and while
keeping the direct selling model as the core strategy I would capitalize on the local market s
requirements.
For example, in India if we focus on empowering the homemakers as business women from the
comforts of their home we can really work on the people s psyche.
Example 2: Secondly, I would revitalize and streamline the company s product lineup and make
product introductions more consistent with market and consumer needs. I would ensure to
introduce new products in every season to generate excitement and attract consumer attention.
To ensure growth I would look at some inorganic growth mechanisms such as mergers and
acquisitions. I would look to acquire local profit making beauty product companies in emerging
markets that would fit in with Avon s business synergies and help the company recreate its brand
and position in the world market.

This research aims to contribute not only to academic literature, but also to business by creating
practical insights for managers to facilitate SI within their organizations. The resulting model
serves as a basis in answering how organizations can become capable of SI.
This paper starts by providing a theoretical background and describing the methodology of our
research. Subsequently we will briefly discuss a number of cases and thereafter present the
theoretical framework and the corresponding organizational capabilities, alongside initial support.
We will finish by offering directions for future research.
1
Theoretical basis
Prior to discussing the relevant theories concerning the development of the capabilities model for SI
we will discuss the changing position of sustainability in an academic and business context.
In the past 20 years, a shift has been observed in the global sustainability agenda from legislation to
sustainability as a competitive advantage. This is illustrated by the significance of an international
agreement such as the Kyoto Protocol in 1997 versus the voluntary carbon neutral commitments
that several businesses (HSBC and BT to name a few) made a mere decade later. The
aforementioned example also demonstrates how public pressure can influence corporate response.
The Kyoto protocol was conceived at a time when governments were held accountable for
sustainability issues, whereas organizations are expected to take their

confident that it is the best solution for our current dilemma. My decision was based primarily on
its proven track record of success, origin, history of use and versatility within many different

Physicians in the Oncology Department. They have communicated their objections, stating that this
new process will ultimately result in the neglect of those patients receiving cancer treatment.
Currently, their argument does not provide any specific data to support the claim. As long as the

again, starts at the root the Ruler of All Under Heaven. Our current examination system can
certainly be revamped, but it currently encourages men to delve knee deep into the analects. That
is especially important right now seeing as the people they look up to are not, in the words of
Master Confucius, True gentleman . No examination is good enough to equip men to be morally
sound if those guiding them are not in their own rite. If you remember nothing else from me,
please remember this. The Master said, Virtue never stands alone. It is bound to have neighbors.

The Immortal Life Of Henrietta Lacks
A mother s love is the kind of love that gives meaning to life, when everything seems to have
your back against the wall, somehow the reassurance of a mother s presence and support takes
away all of the pain. A bond created from early on inside your mother s womb, is the same bond
that is cherished for a lifetime. From mother s day cards every year, to special surprises for her
birthday, a mother s love can never be replaced. This kind of love is truly indescribable. But what
happens when you re only left with the memories and vivid imagination of what life would have
been like if you had more time to spend with your mother. Imagine not knowing anything about who
your mother was, or what kind of woman she turned out to be, the only thing... Show more content

It was as if I was reading about my own mother and the different trials and tribulations that my
family would have had to face after her death if we were in this predicament. I can t even fathom
having to handle life s ups and downs without my mom by my side. I started to reminisce about
some of the things my mother and I would do together like girls night out which consists of getting
our nails done and watching lifetime movies and binge eating on all of our favorite foods, or
having girl talk about everything under the sun, because I needed a mother s point of view.
Henrietta was more than just scientific research, she was a wife, a sister, a friend, a granddaughter,
and most importantly she was a mother.
The HeLa cell line was integral in the innovation of noteworthy medical advances including: the
polio vaccine which showed how certain cells were resistant to antibiotics, the cancer drug
Tamoxifen, chemotherapy, gene mapping, in vitro fertilization, and treatments for influenza,
leukemia, and Parkinson s disease (Skloot, 100). In 1965, HeLa cells were fused with mouse cells,
making the first human animal hybrid (Skloot, 141). These hybrids were able to advance the field
of genetics to study cell genomes, create monoclonal antibodies, and identify ABO blood groups,
lowering the rejection rate for transplants (Skloot,

City of Riverside, California
Located beside the Santa Ana River about 60 miles east of Los Angeles, the historic town of
Riverside hosts a populace of 303,871, according to the 2010 US Census. Currently the 12th
most populated city in California and the 59th in the country, Riverside has come a long way
since its humble beginnings. Founded in the 1870s by a Tennessee abolitionist named John W.
North who also founded Northfield, Minnesota it would quickly become renowned for its
orange trees. In 1871, the first trees were planted. However, it would be three years before the
area became famous for its oranges after a local resident, Eliza Tibbets received a gift from a
horticulturist at the United States Department of Agriculture. William Saunders sent Eliza three
Brazilian naval orange trees. Originally planted on the Tibbet s property, the two surviving trees
were transplanted to land owned by Sam McCoy after one of the saplings was trampled by a
cow. In 1903, the trees were transplanted again. One was moved to the property of the Mission
Inn and re planted by President Theodore Roosevelt; it died in 1922. The other tree was also
transplanted in 1903 to the intersection of Magnolia and Arlington avenue where it remains to this
day with a stone memorial honoring Eliza Tibbets. The trees origins were Bahia, Brazil. Although
a prized orange by many, the tree did not do well in Florida where most US oranges were grown at
that time. However, the Bahia orange tree thrived in Southern California and

Aldehydes And Ketones Lab Report
Purpose:
In this experiment, there are five known compounds given and one unknown compound. The
known compounds are: aldehydes, ketones, primary and secondary alcohol, and ester. The Dumas
method is used to determine what the unknown substance is. Both Aldehydes and Ketones are
similar in a way that they both have carbonyl groups in their Lewis structure; the only difference
between the two are that aldehydes are quickly oxidized into carboxylic acids whereas it more
difficult to achieve.1
There are three different types of alcohols; there are primary, secondary and tertiary alcohols. This
experiment only tests for primary and secondary alcohols because tertiary alcohols react at a fast
rate with the Lucas reagent. Depending on the type of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Once the unknown solution and Lucas reagent are incorporated, the beaker forms a cloudy solution
within two minutes of heating it in hot water on a hot plate. The unknown substance is not an
aldehyde because there is not formation of silver deposits at the bottom of the beaker when Tollen s
reagent is added to the beaker. The unknown solution would not be a ketone because no
crystallization forms when the reagent phenylhydrazine is added, and the unknown solution would
not be an ester because it does not have the distinctive fragrance that a ketone solution would have.
Lastly, the unknown solution would not be a primary alcohol because no reaction occurs when the
beaker in heated on a hot plate.1
After recording the atmospheric pressure, the temperature, the volume of the flask and determining
the weight of the volatized liquid, the ideal gas law is used to determine what the molar mass of the
unknown compound is. When using the ideal gas law formula, instead of using the number of
moles (n) in the equation, it is replaced with mass over molar mass. This equation is then
rearranged to calculate the molar mass of the unknown solution. The mass calculated for the
unknown solution is 61.74

The Human Of Human Cloning
1.INTRODUCTION
Human cloning is the creation of a genetically identical copy of a human. However, this term not
only refers to the entire artificial human, but also the reproduction of human cells and tissues. There
are two types of theoretical human cloning: reproductive cloning which would involve making an
entire cloned human and the other, therapeutic cloning, which would involve cloning cells from a
human for use in medicine and transplants by somatic cell nuclear transfer or pluripotent stem cell
induction. In reproductive cloning the entire genetic code is reproduced from a single body cell of
an adult individual. The most common cloning technique is somatic cell nuclear transfer (SCNT).
The procedure is as follows:
The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
iPSCs are typically derived by introducing products of specific sets of pluripotency associated
genes, or reprogramming factors , into a given cell type.
2.ISSUES
Although the human cloning seems fairly beneficial and useful for human welfare, the possibility
of human cloning has raised controversies. Concerning reproductive cloning, advocates believe that
parents who cannot otherwise procreate should have access to the technology. Some opponents
have concerns that technology is not yet developed enough to be safe while others emphasize that
reproductive cloning could be prone to abuse (leading to the generation of humans whose organs
and tissues would be harvested), and have concerns about how cloned individuals could integrate
with families and with society at large. With regards to therapeutic cloning, the problem is that
many attempts are often required to create a viable egg. The stability of the egg with the infused
somatic nucleus is poor and it can require hundreds of attempts before success is attained.
Therapeutic cloning does result in the destruction of an embryo after stem cells are extracted and
this destruction has stirred controversy over the morality of the procedure. Some argue that the pros
outweigh the cons with regards to treating disease and support development of therapeutic cloning
in order to generate tissues and whole

The Perceptible Propaganda in the film Triumph of the Will (Triumph des Willens)
JS 233: The Holocaust and Film
Prof. James Diamond
Monday, February 2nd, 2015
The film Triumph of the Will was created in 1934 after Hitler was named Fuhrer of Germany. At
the time, Hitler was eager to improve the public image of the NSDP (National Socialist German
Workers Party). After his election as chancellor in Early January 1933, Hitler gave Leni Riefenstahl
the job of filming the annual NSDAP conference in Nuremberg, Germany . Riefenstahl accepted the
offer and agreed document, direct and edit the Conference. As years pasted, the infamous
documentary began to be speculated as possible Nazi Propaganda.
Although presumptions began to arise, Riefenstahl stated that Triumph of the Will was clearly a
factual documentary and stated: Not a single scene is staged...It is history, pure history and that
she simply filmed what she saw. Susan Sontag s response in her dissertation Fascinating Fascism
concluded that the film is fascist propaganda promoting Nazi ideology but itself is not a about
fascism . Sontag was right to the title the film was fascist due to Riefenstahl s extreme forthright
about her infatuation with Hitler. In an interview with Detroit news Riefenstahl stated: To me
Hitler is the greatest man who ever lived. He is really faultless, so simple yet so filled with ,manly
power... He is really beautiful,

Gaming Tiers
Gaming Tiers are the Lowest
My brother introduced me to videogames when I was four and I have been playing ever since.
The game, Super Smash Bros., was both my first game and my favorite game, and it still is to this
day. Super Smash Bros is a unique fighting series with popular Nintendo characters as fighters. The
characters I play are Ganondorf, Roy, Rosalina Luma, Wii Fit Trainer, Jigglypuff, Mr. GameWatch,
just to name a few. You could say I m a bit of a gamer.
While practicing this game with my brother, he introduced me to tier lists. A tier list is a list that
depicts character by best or worst . Depicting how good or bad a character is from someone playing
them a certain way is my biggest pet peeve in the gaming scene. My point ... Show more content on
Helpwriting.net ...
My play style is to pick a melee character, preferably the wise old sage type character, and charge
into difficult situations that are seemingly impossible to survive. Of course, I was berated for
my play style, but my point is that it works and I am having fun doing it. The great thing about
my main character, Ganondorf, is that he is known as the worst character in the game. He was
considered so bad that he got his own tier... Ganon Tier. The only people that have beaten my
Ganondorf gameplay have been my brother and a select few thus far, but definitely not every
round. Not by a long shot. Over the years I have left multiple people in awe after they ve seen
how quickly I ve taken all four stocks (amount of lives left) away from them. Every time I hear
someone berating a character or a person for using a character I challenge him or her to a 1
versus 1. Obviously, I would play Ganondorf from the Ganon Tier and prove to them mechanical
skill is actually a part of gaming.
Tier lists are my greatest pet peeve in gaming because telling someone a set way to play a game
is not only boring, it destroys the diversity of the game. I had to try to convince others to
understand that tier lists in gaming should not be followed as if it were the law. There is more
than one way to play a game and have fun. I do not want to see others following the opinions of
others as blindly as some do with tier lists. I would definitely keep

  • 2. The Health Facility Tours During Austria The health facility tours in Austria were conducted at two hospitals, Barmherzige Bruder in Salzburg and tirol kliniken s central hospital in Innsbruck. Barmherzige Bruder is a hospital based in a monastery. Tirol kliniken s central hospital is part of a larger hospital system serving the Tirol region of Austria. Both hospitals resembled U.S. hospitals physically; but, both hospitals had a cleaner feel. The hospitals were quieter than then ones I ve been in the U.S. Less people were in the common spaces. Like some of the U.S. s university based teaching hospitals, tirol kliniken s hospital in Innsbruck is associated with a University. The University hospital had spacious patient rooms in the neurology department and many rooms appeared empty. A pneumatic tube delivery system delivered mail and other things to different department s including samples to the central lab. The emergency room was set up with two distinct units. One unit handled injuries involving blood and did not have any rooms. This unit triaged individuals behind curtains and moved the patient to the part of the hospital best equipped to deal with their condition. The second unit handled all other illnesses and had six beds. Finally, we were able to tour the heliport. Due to the rural and mountainous conditions, helicopters are placed strategically in the Tirol region where accidents are likely to occur and other vehicles can t gain access. • 3. The Spanish And Mexican Period 1. The story line I am going to talk about is power and oppression, throughout California s history there has been many events of power and oppression that has shaped California s history in many ways. I selected this storyline because I am able to relate many of these events that have happened throughout history. I will described the Spanish and Mexican period, the Americanization period, the early 20th century, and the late 20th century to today. First I will begin with the Spanish and Mexican period 1776 1846, during these period we could see that there was a lot of power and oppression that started with the Spanish conquest to expand their colonization. The spanish brought with them christianity trying to convert Native Americans to become that same religion, the spanish developed a series of presidios, missions, and pueblos in the lands of Native Americans where they were forced to change their religion, customs, and culture to become part of the Spanish. Many Native Americans were killed by the Spanish soldiers when they would decline to change their way of living. The Spanish practice oppression trying to convert this people into christianity this is an example of the power and oppression the spanish used during these period of time. After Mexico became independent from the Spanish empire the Mexican government took control of California and during these period, the Mexican government put an end to the mission/presidio system. • 4. Difference Between Modernist Drama And Realist Drama This essay aims to show and discuss the ways in which modernist drama is different to realist drama. To do this the essay will focus on the conventions of language and subject identity to show how modernist drama challenges the ways of realist drama. This essay will first outline what modernism is. It will then look at the conventions of both language and subject identity separately, providing examples where needed. Finally, the essay will look at Pirandello s play and discuss how it relates to the modernist dramastyle before concluding. When something is considered contemporary or in style, it is considered to be modern. From the late 18th century to the early 19th century there was a shift in history. There was a rise in capitalist societies and an increase in industrial productivity. This created the start of modernity. Macey (2001) refers to modernity as the period of the modern. The changes in the world demanded a response from art. All forms of art had to create a new way of thought for this new world. This is how modernism or the modernist ... The use of a tape recorder changes the way time in a play works. One can say that Beckett found a way to loophole the fact that play s cannot have flashbacks. Krapp listens to his younger self on his tape recorder and finds that some of the language used was now meaningless to his older self. This shows that language is contextual. The language used in the stage directions are quite unusual such as rusty black and wearish old man. While one can visualise what these words mean, there is no standard definition for the words. Essay on Drug Enforcement Administration What I Know About the Drug Enforcement Administration The Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) works to lessen and eliminate the use, transportation, and sale of drugs in the United States. They are the only government organized organization with the purpose of controlling drug traffic. The Drug Enforcement Administration seems to be most known for their role in stopping drug transportation across borders by use of DEA officers, police trained dogs, and other tools. To my knowledge the DEA may have many other roles, possibly including the elimination of drug manufacturing throughout the world, tracking down and stopping major drug trafficking organizations within the United States border, US territories, and minor outlying islands. The eighties saw the introduction of new technology into the DEA, such as CAT (real time vehicle tracking system) and newly available cordless phones. Francis M. Mullen Junior was the acting administrator from 1981 to 1985. In 1982, the Drug Enforcement Administration officially joined forces with the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI). Many drug investigations were successful during this time period, including one bust resulting in the seizure of over 1600lbs of cocaine. In 1984 and amendment to the Controlled Substances Act was passed. The amendment provided additional authority for the denial or revocation of a practitioner controlled substance registration based on a demonstration that such registration was contrary to the public interest as described by the Drug Enforcement Administration history on www.dea.gov. In 1986, the DEA began one of its most successful programs, the Drug Free Workplace program. By 1988, over 2,000 drug tests were conducted (including 1,600 random tests) as part of the drug free workplace program. During the late 1980s and early 1990 s, Americans became more aware of drug use and trafficking, however abuse of the drugs increased significantly. President George H.W. Both The Shining and The Sixth Sense share a common theme. A theme that is found in both movies is a supernatural theme. When an event occurs that is supernatural, it is most times perceived as a frightening, almost terrifying event. In both movies there were many supernatural occurrences. For instance, in The Shining, when Jack enters room 237 he sees a young woman sitting in the tub, a ghoul. Upon seeing Jack, the ghoul slowly pushes back the curtain and immerges from the tub walking towards Jack. Jack seeing a, sexual invitation, advances towards the women. The women grabs his face and begins kissing him. Jack notices in the mirror that the women is rotting and becomes frightened, and runs away while the ghoul laughs hysterically. This is bizarre for the reason that the only humans in the Overlook hotel are Danny, his mother Wendy, and his father Jack. Therefore it can be concluded that the ghoul is a ghost in the hotel. There are also scenes towards, the end of the movie, that display to the viewer that the hotel is aiding Jack in killing his wife Wendy. For example, when Wendy is escaping the Overlook Hotel towards the end she meets up with the ghost with a bloody hand as a way of stalling her from escaping before her son is killed. Why then, are parents allowing their children to be put on medications that may have an adverse effect on their children? Parents should become more informed about the over diagnosing, side effects, results of the medication and all other pertinent information before they allow their children to become treated. As a result of these new federal programs, and funding, schools today are no longer held responsible for a student s lack of performance. Teachers today, although they only receive education up to a master s degree to teach in K 12th grade, have become psychiatric doctors. Teachers are given lists of symptoms and unacceptable behaviors and instructed that if a student fits into the category they are to be marked and labeled, and the paperwork should be written up to begin their drug treatment. According to an Ernest Young report on the rise of young managers in the workplace, this generation were not considered to be team players and have an attitude of entitlement. This was also noted by Jean Twenge in her book Generation me. In terms of management, they are considered inclusive leaders and enjoy diversification and input when making decisions. The traditional encryption is regarded as a method to share data to some targeted person or device that the sender knows. This means the sender knows specifically which user he wants to share with. However, in many systems the message sender will want to share date with a group of people whose credentials or attributes accord to some access policy set by the sender.[8][9]A new vision of encryption[10]was presented, where the sender can express how he wants to share data in the encryption algorithm itself. Theoretically, based on some previous researches, this paper will simply introduce the algorithm scheme and how it working. Practically, I will compare some libraries which implement CP ABE and try to implement a small program using these different libraries 2 BACKGROUND OF RESEARCH In 2007, a new methodology for realizing Ciphertext Policy Attribute Encryption (CP ABE)[3]under concrete and non interactive cryptographic assumptions in the standard model came out and a basic framework of this model was constructed. This scheme, referred as BSW scheme, uses threshold secret sharing to enforce the policy. The main drawback of BSW scheme is the complexity and computing time in decryption phase, which requires may expensive pairing and exponentiation operations. In 2009, there is a scheme of CP ABE mentioned before was presented, which is efficient and provable secure.[5]This scheme can express any access policy involving AND, OR and OF operator (threshold) by defining the privacy policy through access tree instead of threshold secret sharing which ... It is important for our students to know math and these other basic subjects if we want to be able to compete with the rest of the world economically and technologically. Not only must students sit in a class where these subjects are taught, but they also need to master the material before they move on to the next grade. This is the job of the teacher. It is up to the teacher to make sure that his students understand the material and can do it on their own before he moves on to something else. I believe that the grade a student makes reflects the teacher. If a student makes an F, the teacher has failed in his teaching of that student. This does not mean that the teacher should make his class easy. I still agree with the essentialist that academic rigor is an essential component of education. However, I do not agree that this necessitates a great amount of homework. The level of work can be tough and stretch the minds of the students, but if the teacher is able to teach his students well in class and they comprehend the material and can practice it during the class period, I do not think a lot of homework ... • 21. A Successful Business Leadership Style The ultimate aim of this research is to highlight a successful business leadership style. The intention is to research business leadership in the developing countries, and devise a new framework or strategy that can be used by businesses and education systems within developing countries and possibly other Asian countries. This framework would identify the qualities necessary to develop an appropriate leadershipstyle to be an effective leader in organisations operating. This will be achieved by investigating the social and cultural environment and look at how these forces affect the business environment, and in particular the qualities of a good leader within the organisation. The research aims to fill a gap in the existing body of knowledge to do with leadership and managementin different regions of the world. LITERATURE REVIEW Background Broadly speaking, leadership can be defined as a process in which an individual influences a group of individuals to work towards the achievement of a common goal or vision (Lussier, 1996; Northouse, 2001; Stogdill, 1974). Moreover, Bush and Coleman (2000) note that since most of what has been written about leadership draws upon western cultural models, it should be borne in mind that leadership might well be viewed differently in different cultures. The difference between leadership and management is vividly encapsulated in Bass s model of transformational and transactional leadership styles. Transformational leaders ... They are forced to sleep and walk on concrete floors and are often on train cars most of their life. This can cause arthritis, foot abscesses, and other foot and joint dangers. The average lifespan of a wild elephant is anywhere from sixty to seventy years old. Because of chronic health problems such as tuberculosis, arthritis, and foot abscesses, captive elephants are lucky if they live forty years. The oldest captive elephant, Peaches, died at the age of fifty five in 2005 at the Lincoln Park Zoo. Furthermore, attempting the breed captive elephants has been highly unsuccessful. Basically, most of the immune system is found inside the blood of the circulatory system. The circulatory system provides the body with blood. It gives the kidneys of the digestive system something to filter and picks up nutrients from the small intestines. It also picks up air from the lungs of the respiratory system and provides the brain of the nervous system with blood, along with the rests of the body. Protection from wounds in the integumentary system is also provided by the circulatory system which has platelets that aid in blood clotting and forming scabs. The immune system protects all the other systems from disease and helps them from being attacked by viruses and bacteria. It also aids the ears of the nervous system with some very protective earwax. Summary Of Socrates Cave At the beginning of Book Seven, in an attempt to better describe the education of the philosopher Socrates begins to set up an analogy with an ascent and descent into the cave . In Socrates cave analogy there was a group of people who were from childhood held in a dimly lit underground cave. The people were kept there in bonds that were designed to allow them to only what was in front of them by depriving them of the ability to turn their heads around. Also present in Socrates cave was a certain wall or partition separating the prisoners from another group of people who simply walked along a path carrying statues shaped after all that of beings and occasionally uttering sounds as the others remained quiet. According to Socrates the prisoner will eventually recall the lifestyle and the people he left behind and began to feel a sense of pity for them but will cherish experience he has received on the surface. He says that if the prisoner were to ever return to the cave he would face the pain of having to readjust to the light in the cave and the ridicule of the prisoner who will see him as someone who has lost sight of the truth instead of the newly enlightened soul he is. It seems to me that Socrates has set up each part of this analogy to represent a separate part of the philosophers struggle toward truly becoming a philosopher and achieving the study of philosophy. The cave itself seems to represent the societal norms that will be forced upon the upcoming philosopher from birth. While the philosopher is being brought up knowing only one thing as the truth he must find the strength to break himself free of the chains that bind him to the non philosophical souls of society and begin to question what is known as truth . ... Longing For Love A Comparative Essay By Jack Ettlinger In the song I Just Haven t Met You Yet (IJHMYY) written and composed by Michael Buble, themes such as love, optimism, and loneliness are all are evident. These themes are also found in the song Love Song For No One (LSFNO), written and composed by John Mayer, but optimism is replaced by pessimism. Both of these songs are about a man longing for love; however, in the first, the man is optimistic and hopeful, while in the second he is getting anxious and a little doubtful. Mayer says that he has been, searching all my days just to find you not sure who I m looking for, and the listener feels his exhaustion, sadness and most of all, his loneliness. In his song, Michael Buble is clearly lonely, but his loneliness in motivating him to persevere in his life, and to find the one that will complete him. The lyric I know someday that it ll all turn out, you ll make me work, so we can work to work it out shows this. He knows that the love of his life is out there and that she is coming, and therefore his loneliness feels temporary. There is, in his mind, an end in sight. He understands that he has to be patient: I might have to wait, I ll never give up, I guess it s half timing and the other half s luck. Buble trusts that love is coming for him. He knows he won t have to be lonely for too long. The songs, I Just Haven t Met you Yet, and Love Song For No One both focus on the theme of love, and at first glance, can be perceived as very similar. But by dissecting the lyrics and looking more closely at the undertones and messages of both songs, we find that they are actually almost opposite in their approach to the mystery of love. As an ending note, John Mayer is still girlfriend less, while, as a true example of life imitating art, Michael Buble is engaged to the beautiful model who played the girl of his dreams in the video for his hit song. I guess he really did meet her after all. I Just Haven t Met You

Careful Manipulation in Coleridge s Kubla Khan Essay Careful Manipulation in Coleridge s Kubla Khan In his preface to Kubla Khan, Samuel Taylor Coleridge makes the claim that his poem is a virtual recording of something given to him in a drug induced reverie, if that indeed can be called composition in which all the images rose up before him as things . . . without any sensation or consciousness of effort. As spontaneous and as much a product of the unconscious or dreaming world as the poem might seem on first reading, however, it is also a finely structured, well wrought device that suggests the careful manipulation by the conscious mind. • 28. The Female Characters Of The Film, By Pan s Labyrinth Patriarchy is described as a general structure where men hold the position of power over women. This could include being the head of the household, upper level in the workplace, or leader in society. Cinema serves this patriarchal institution by constantly constructing ideological images of women. Since the beginning, women in film are made to conform to the ideal image that the man has of them (Smelik, 496). Essentially, Hollywood cinema is structured for the male audience, and therefore majority of films are classified as patriarchal. A lot has to do with how female characters are portrayed and if there is a male gazein the film. Although Pan s Labyrinth is constructed through the classic narrative mode, the film has a female lead and focuses on women. Del Toro demonstrates the female characters overcoming obstacles and stigmas. Ofelia and Mercedes are the two strong female protagonists who are good natured and act to what they think is right, different from the passive or aggressive protagonists found in traditional fairytales. So, how do these two women subvert and problematize the patriarchal stereotype? In the paper, I will analyze the mise en scene of the two different worlds and the inclusion of the male gaze to establish how these women subvert and problematize the patriarchal stereotype. It was as if I was reading about my own mother and the different trials and tribulations that my family would have had to face after her death if we were in this predicament. I can t even fathom having to handle life s ups and downs without my mom by my side. I started to reminisce about some of the things my mother and I would do together like girls night out which consists of getting our nails done and watching lifetime movies and binge eating on all of our favorite foods, or having girl talk about everything under the sun, because I needed a mother s point of view. Henrietta was more than just scientific research, she was a wife, a sister, a friend, a granddaughter, and most importantly she was a mother. The HeLa cell line was integral in the innovation of noteworthy medical advances including: the polio vaccine which showed how certain cells were resistant to antibiotics, the cancer drug Tamoxifen, chemotherapy, gene mapping, in vitro fertilization, and treatments for influenza, leukemia, and Parkinson s disease (Skloot, 100). In 1965, HeLa cells were fused with mouse cells, making the first human animal hybrid (Skloot, 141). These hybrids were able to advance the field of genetics to study cell genomes, create monoclonal antibodies, and identify ABO blood groups, lowering the rejection rate for transplants (Skloot, ... • 39. City of Riverside, California Located beside the Santa Ana River about 60 miles east of Los Angeles, the historic town of Riverside hosts a populace of 303,871, according to the 2010 US Census. Currently the 12th most populated city in California and the 59th in the country, Riverside has come a long way since its humble beginnings. Founded in the 1870s by a Tennessee abolitionist named John W. North who also founded Northfield, Minnesota it would quickly become renowned for its orange trees. In 1871, the first trees were planted. However, it would be three years before the area became famous for its oranges after a local resident, Eliza Tibbets received a gift from a horticulturist at the United States Department of Agriculture. William Saunders sent Eliza three Brazilian naval orange trees. Originally planted on the Tibbet s property, the two surviving trees were transplanted to land owned by Sam McCoy after one of the saplings was trampled by a cow. In 1903, the trees were transplanted again. One was moved to the property of the Mission Inn and re planted by President Theodore Roosevelt; it died in 1922. The other tree was also transplanted in 1903 to the intersection of Magnolia and Arlington avenue where it remains to this day with a stone memorial honoring Eliza Tibbets. The trees origins were Bahia, Brazil. Although a prized orange by many, the tree did not do well in Florida where most US oranges were grown at that time. However, the Bahia orange tree thrived in Southern California and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 40. Aldehydes And Ketones Lab Report Purpose: In this experiment, there are five known compounds given and one unknown compound. The known compounds are: aldehydes, ketones, primary and secondary alcohol, and ester. The Dumas method is used to determine what the unknown substance is. Both Aldehydes and Ketones are similar in a way that they both have carbonyl groups in their Lewis structure; the only difference between the two are that aldehydes are quickly oxidized into carboxylic acids whereas it more difficult to achieve.1 There are three different types of alcohols; there are primary, secondary and tertiary alcohols. This experiment only tests for primary and secondary alcohols because tertiary alcohols react at a fast rate with the Lucas reagent. Depending on the type of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Once the unknown solution and Lucas reagent are incorporated, the beaker forms a cloudy solution within two minutes of heating it in hot water on a hot plate. The unknown substance is not an aldehyde because there is not formation of silver deposits at the bottom of the beaker when Tollen s reagent is added to the beaker. The unknown solution would not be a ketone because no crystallization forms when the reagent phenylhydrazine is added, and the unknown solution would not be an ester because it does not have the distinctive fragrance that a ketone solution would have. Lastly, the unknown solution would not be a primary alcohol because no reaction occurs when the beaker in heated on a hot plate.1 After recording the atmospheric pressure, the temperature, the volume of the flask and determining the weight of the volatized liquid, the ideal gas law is used to determine what the molar mass of the unknown compound is. When using the ideal gas law formula, instead of using the number of moles (n) in the equation, it is replaced with mass over molar mass. This equation is then rearranged to calculate the molar mass of the unknown solution. The mass calculated for the unknown solution is 61.74 ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 41. The Human Of Human Cloning 1.INTRODUCTION Human cloning is the creation of a genetically identical copy of a human. However, this term not only refers to the entire artificial human, but also the reproduction of human cells and tissues. There are two types of theoretical human cloning: reproductive cloning which would involve making an entire cloned human and the other, therapeutic cloning, which would involve cloning cells from a human for use in medicine and transplants by somatic cell nuclear transfer or pluripotent stem cell induction. In reproductive cloning the entire genetic code is reproduced from a single body cell of an adult individual. The most common cloning technique is somatic cell nuclear transfer (SCNT). The procedure is as follows: The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... iPSCs are typically derived by introducing products of specific sets of pluripotency associated genes, or reprogramming factors , into a given cell type. 2.ISSUES Although the human cloning seems fairly beneficial and useful for human welfare, the possibility of human cloning has raised controversies. Concerning reproductive cloning, advocates believe that parents who cannot otherwise procreate should have access to the technology. Some opponents have concerns that technology is not yet developed enough to be safe while others emphasize that reproductive cloning could be prone to abuse (leading to the generation of humans whose organs and tissues would be harvested), and have concerns about how cloned individuals could integrate with families and with society at large. With regards to therapeutic cloning, the problem is that many attempts are often required to create a viable egg. The stability of the egg with the infused somatic nucleus is poor and it can require hundreds of attempts before success is attained. Therapeutic cloning does result in the destruction of an embryo after stem cells are extracted and this destruction has stirred controversy over the morality of the procedure. Some argue that the pros outweigh the cons with regards to treating disease and support development of therapeutic cloning in order to generate tissues and whole ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 42. Film Triumph Of The Will Taylor Singh 20519205 Assignment 1 The Perceptible Propaganda in the film Triumph of the Will (Triumph des Willens) JS 233: The Holocaust and Film Prof. James Diamond Monday, February 2nd, 2015 The film Triumph of the Will was created in 1934 after Hitler was named Fuhrer of Germany. At the time, Hitler was eager to improve the public image of the NSDP (National Socialist German Workers Party). After his election as chancellor in Early January 1933, Hitler gave Leni Riefenstahl the job of filming the annual NSDAP conference in Nuremberg, Germany . Riefenstahl accepted the offer and agreed document, direct and edit the Conference. As years pasted, the infamous documentary began to be speculated as possible Nazi Propaganda. Although presumptions began to arise, Riefenstahl stated that Triumph of the Will was clearly a factual documentary and stated: Not a single scene is staged...It is history, pure history and that she simply filmed what she saw. Susan Sontag s response in her dissertation Fascinating Fascism concluded that the film is fascist propaganda promoting Nazi ideology but itself is not a about fascism . Sontag was right to the title the film was fascist due to Riefenstahl s extreme forthright about her infatuation with Hitler. In an interview with Detroit news Riefenstahl stated: To me Hitler is the greatest man who ever lived. He is really faultless, so simple yet so filled with ,manly power... He is really beautiful, ... • 43. Gaming Tiers Gaming Tiers are the Lowest My brother introduced me to videogames when I was four and I have been playing ever since. The game, Super Smash Bros., was both my first game and my favorite game, and it still is to this day. Super Smash Bros is a unique fighting series with popular Nintendo characters as fighters. The characters I play are Ganondorf, Roy, Rosalina Luma, Wii Fit Trainer, Jigglypuff, Mr. GameWatch, just to name a few. You could say I m a bit of a gamer. While practicing this game with my brother, he introduced me to tier lists. A tier list is a list that depicts character by best or worst . Depicting how good or bad a character is from someone playing them a certain way is my biggest pet peeve in the gaming scene. My point ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... My play style is to pick a melee character, preferably the wise old sage type character, and charge into difficult situations that are seemingly impossible to survive. Of course, I was berated for my play style, but my point is that it works and I am having fun doing it. The great thing about my main character, Ganondorf, is that he is known as the worst character in the game. He was considered so bad that he got his own tier... Ganon Tier. The only people that have beaten my Ganondorf gameplay have been my brother and a select few thus far, but definitely not every round. Not by a long shot. Over the years I have left multiple people in awe after they ve seen how quickly I ve taken all four stocks (amount of lives left) away from them. Every time I hear someone berating a character or a person for using a character I challenge him or her to a 1 versus 1. Obviously, I would play Ganondorf from the Ganon Tier and prove to them mechanical skill is actually a part of gaming. Tier lists are my greatest pet peeve in gaming because telling someone a set way to play a game is not only boring, it destroys the diversity of the game. I had to try to convince others to understand that tier lists in gaming should not be followed as if it were the law. There is more than one way to play a game and have fun. I do not want to see others following the opinions of others as blindly as some do with tier lists. I would definitely keep ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
