Ergonomics Case Study
Ergonomics and Repetitive Strain Injury
Ergonomics is concerned about the ideal fit between people or employees, and the things they do,
the machines and, or objects they use and the environment they work in. According to Helander,
(2006) the International Ergonomics Association (IEA, 2000) defines the concept of ergonomicsas
follow:
Ergonomics is the scientific discipline concerned with the understanding of interactions among
humans and other elements of a system, and the profession that applies theory, principles, data and
methods to design in order to optimize human well being and overall system performance (p. 6).
Safety is essential to ergonomics, According to Bellis (2007), the goal of ergonomics in the
workplace is to prevent injuries, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

postures. They are also at risk for occupational overuse injury.
EFeet should be supported and flat on the ground. However if this is not practical, the feet should
be supported by a foot rest.If both your feet are not touching the ground, it means the problem is
with your chair. In relation to that problem the company will need to buy a footrest to support your
feet.
FErgonomic stretches are important and should be compulsory. Foot rotations, finger stretches,
wrist stretches are just a few number of exercises that should be done at the workstation.Workers

effectiveness of work practice are at greater risk of harm and injury. Without the correct awareness,

French nuclear testing in the South Pacific. The Rainbow Warrior was hit trying to neutralise
the ship ahead of its planned protest, French agents had worn diving gear and they had placed
two packets of plastic wrapped explosives to it, one by the propeller, one to the outer wall of the
engine room. The two explosions sunk the Rainbow Warrior and shock the harbour. That night
on the Rainbow Warrior, there had been a birthday celebration, people on board the vessel for
this celebration was several crew members and some locals. At around 11.30 at night, members
had been asleep in their cabins, while the others had either left the ship or were up talking over

Morality Of Homelessness
Homelessness not only affects politics, the economy, and social environments, it also heavily
influences morality. Should homelessness continue in its current state, the moral compass of
humanity as a whole will be thrown off. Caring for those around us who have experienced troubles
should be something that is actively sought to fix, not ignored. By ignoring the issue, we create an
aura of indifference to, not just human suffering, but suffering that we experience close to our
homes. The continuing existence of homelessness can be seen as a contradiction to the Building
Blocks of Catholic Social Teaching, especially The Principle of Solidarity, The Principle of the
Common Good, and The Principle of Preferential Protection for the Poor

The Enduring Chill Short Story
List of Items Fruitful in Exploring in the Story The Enduring Chill of Flannery O Connor
Negro
Flannery O Connor at the mid of the XX century (before the signing of the Civil Right act) wrote
the story of The enduring chill, which through the word Negro reflects the racisms of that time.
Currently, the word negro is a contemptuous terminology used to refer to people of African
American ascendency popularized in the mid 16th century (Oxford dictionary). Since the slavery
started until 1964, neither the church nor the USA government recognized the African American
people as humans, taking away all their rights. However, this transitions of establishing rights for

Ask Him to send the Holy Ghost. ( OВґConnor 376) In this part, the text do not seems to be based
on the verse of acts 3:28, Repent and be baptized,[a] every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ
for the forgiveness of your sins; and you will receive the gift of the holy Spirit. (Bible gateway)
Showing that the final act it is like a baptism for Asbury. Also, even when Asbury is a sinner,
God forgives and allows him to receive the holy Ghost given her nature. Which seems to be
based on Corinthians 12:13, For in one Spirit we were all baptized into one body, whether Jews or
Greeks, slaves or free persons, and we were all given to drink of one Spirit. (Bible gateway)
Showing that the story ends changing the whole course of the life of Asbury, because accepting
the Holy Ghost, he receives His gifts and become free despite he was a sinner.

Affirmative Action Analysis
Affirmative Action: Overview A reflection on the society depicts the fact that it is composed of
individuals with varying differences aligned with gender, race, socio economic status, and
education levels. While it is true that all people should be equal irrespective of these factors, there
is a need to note that there exist a persistent discriminationof various people. Affirmative actionhas
often been poised as the most comprehensive means through which equality can be attained. While
much has been hypothesized regarding affirmative action, it is of the essence to note that it mainly
connotes to actions and policies that are intended to ensure equality for all people regardless of the
differences they exhibit (Bridges 73). Affirmative action is established with the sole intent of
assuring equal opportunities for all. From this analysis, it can be deduced that the scope of
affirmative action is to assure equality between minority and majority groups. There are various
strategies that are often utilized to enhance the affirmative action.... Show more content on

Based on a personal thought, affirmative action would be more beneficial if it based on class and
not race. Class based affirmative action offers a comprehensive platform that assures an
enhancement in the representation of the minorities. Class based affirmative action favors
individuals from low income backgrounds, which ends up favoring the minority groups (Berry
Bonilla Silva 237). An analysis of racial minority groups points to the fact that they have lower
economic statuses. Therefore, class based affirmative action caters for low income groups who
mainly comprise of the racial minority groups. Overall, class based affirmative action is
recommendable because it caters for both racial and class based

Romeo And Juliet Rising Action Essay
In the tragedy Romeo and Juliet by William Shakespeare, the points of plot structure are used to
lay out the story of two young lovers. The rising action leads up to the climax in order to mark the
onset of a great calamity. In the climax, a character is killed, causing a conflict for the two main
characters, Romeo and Juliet. As the falling action goes on, the play takes a turn to a fatal
denouement.
The characters and setting of the play are introduced in the exposition. Crying to his best friend
Mercutio, Romeo is heartbroken by a girl named Rosaline who will not return his love. Meanwhile,
the Capulets and Montagues, who are ancient sworn enemies, are fighting in the streets of Verona.

The Origins of Voodoo Essay
The Origins of Voodoo Voodoo is a religion rich in heritage and founded in faith and community.
The religion has been villainized by western culture and has been wrongly portrayed as
malignant and dangerous. The religion is not founded in any of the (known) black magics or fear
popularized by Hollywood films, but rather it is based on balance and tradition. The religion is
not something that should be encountered with inhibition or fear induced from childhood horror
stories, but embraced for its strength and history. Voodoo originated as an amalgam of African
religions during the slave trade. As slaves were shipped from Africa to the Caribbean, groups of
slaves sharing a similar heritage were broken apart to prevent any sense of... Show more content on

In the three centuries of religious oppression, voodoo became a symbol of pride and
independence for the slaves. Any pride in a slave is, of course, regarded as a threat to the slave
owner. Rumors of human sacrifice and devil worship became prevalent in the social circles of
plantation owners and slave traders. These statements had no validity, but traveled quickly
throughout the Caribbean and America. The practitioners of voodoo embraced this fear as
means to frighten their former masters and gain some respect in a world where they were
deprived of everything. Former slave owners quickly found themselves duped into the beliefs of
voodoo dolls and hexes. Of course, many slave owners simply killed their slaves rather than be
frightened by the voodoo. The practice itself is not actually frightening or powerful in any way,
but that doesn?t matter to superstitious folks like those in Salem. No historical evidence of
human sacrifice or affiliation with Satan has been discovered (Voodoo), or likely ever will be.
Primary religions involved in the African aspect of voodoo are Macumba and Candomble of the
Yoruba people of Nigeria, and several now extinct tribes from the Congos and Cameroon. These
religions lay the groundwork for the course of religious ceremonies and contain the origins for the
deities worshipped in modern voodoo. Voodoo?s principle deity, Olorun is the voodoo equivalent to
God. Though the name can be traced to the Yoruba tribe, it is unknown if

An Analysis Of Porter s Five Forces In The Porter
The five forces used to analyze the level of competition formulated by Porter are the threat of
new entrants, the bargaining power of suppliers, the bargaining power of buyers, the threat of
substitute products or services and rivalry among existing competitors (M. E. Porter, 2008). Two
additional forces, proposed by Boehlje Olson (2010), provide an external dynamic to Porter s
original five forces, namely technology and other drivers of change. In order to use the Porter five
forces as an adequate backbone for describing the competition in our desired sector, we need
thorough knowledge of the factors comprising these forces. We begin by providing an overview of
general important factors used in recent literature. Threat of new entrants... Show more content on

Buyers will try to lower the price and increase the quality of products through bargaining and
negotiating. According to Porter (2008) negotiating leverage will increase if there are relatively
few buyers or purchases have a large volume compared to single supplier output, if suppliers have
undifferentiated products, the switching costs are low and if backwards integration is feasible.
The agribusiness chain has unique features such as perishability, seasonality, rapidly changing
supply and demand, use of contracts and sometimes limited price information, which will shape
the supplier buyer interactions (Cook, 2011; Olson Boehlje, 2010). Similar to the bargaining
power of suppliers, producers are placed in the middle of the chain. Therefore they will act as
buyers to the input sector while being sellers to the retail sector. This results in a unique and often
vulnerable position in the value chain. This relationship will also be thoroughly discussed in
following paragraphs when we analyze the price transmission and

Finance At The University Of Florida
Page 1: Personal Reflection 1. I am studying Finance at the University of Florida because not
only do I have a creative side but an intellectual side of me too. Crazily, mathematics comes
naturally to me and is also a huge concept in finance, but finance isn t just numbers, it
incorporates various aspects such as communication, problem solving, and creativity. Finance
unites my limitless passion for math and joins it with some of my personality traits, which is
the best of both worlds. More specifically, in my upbringing, money was tight and my parents
always stressed when facing financial issues. My background catalyzed my admiration to the
effect the power of money holds when used properly. Finding the best financial effects and
awareness of all options to make well informed financial decisions to assist an individual or a
company in the most beneficial way seems rewarding and intriguing to me. So, all of these
elements have directed me into my interest in Finance. 2. Ideally, successful, inspired, independent,
and skilled are just a few ideas that describe my picture perfect image of what I imagine of my life
5 years ahead of today. After I receive my bachelor s degree in Finance I plan to pursue higher
education in a Master s program for Finance. I would love to do my Master s at a high profile
school ranging from University of Florida to New York University. A vision I ve always had of
myself is that I would accomplish to be a business woman that works for a huge

Mating Among Seahorse Research Paper
Mating among Seahorses
by
Tina Huang
February 12, 2015 Organisms have participated in mating in order to pass their offspring into
another generation. Mating refers to when animals court and breed each other, an act of
reproduction. Male pregnancy is the norm for seahorses, becoming a part of behavioral evolution.
Male parental care has led to the broad diversity of seahorses or sympatric speciation. Seahorses
use assortative mating, also known as choosing mates based on their body size. The dependency of
this type of mating was a consequence of the monogamous mating system and lifestyle of
seahorses. Monogamous pairing is when marriage is to one entity at a time, compared to bigamy or
polygamy. The demonstrated adaptative differences such as size in the same habitat proves the
occurrence of sympatric divergence. Is that the only factor that influences the rise of new seahorse
species? In this paper, I will examine five studies, from vast areas relating to the mating of seahorses
and their patterns of mating behavior, illustrating its role in sympatric speciation. Altogether these
studies demonstrate the uniqueness of seahorses and provide a new outlook on the diversity that ...

Ronald Knox s Commandments In Detective Fiction
Ronald Knox s commandments for detective fiction ultimately function as a guide for what he
believes constitutes a fair and satisfying instance of the genre, each charge serving to avoid a non
fulfilling resolution for the reader. Knox s rules in combination work to this end and the ambitions
of this essay are to explore works from Poe and Christie in relation to these commandments. Poe,
considered the instigator of the detective fictiongenre through the Dupin tales penned and published
works that would assist in defining its conventions, providing a prototype for future authors.
Christie was a beneficiary of these earlier works and attempted to modernize the pre established

Dupin succeeds in making the impossible, possible, however the revelation of a previously
unmentioned animal killer still brings about a feeling of less than complete satisfaction.
Contributing to this feeling is Dupin s concealment of clues from the reader, with the presence of
tawny hair not made present in the story until after the indictment of the Ourang Outang to which it
belonged. Both of these factors hold some blame in producing a conclusion that could be
considered less than fulfilling.
Conversely in Christie s Murder on the Orient Express the authors use of a locked room scenario
ensures the reader has some chance of identifying the killer whilst a web of false identities and
alibis create difficulty for any reader attempting to solve the puzzle. Christie also provides any
and all evidences used in the final conclusion to be available to the reader as immediately as they
are to the detective. Murder on the Orient Express is set up for a shocking and satisfying
conclusion from its first pages, with all the elements of the solution found woven into the text
before the grand reveal.

How Is Media Inherently Bias
Media is not inherently bias, however different viewpoints, goals and opinions cause media
sources to be biased. Even though the press is supposed to be impartial and provide truthful
information to the people, emotions, and opinions cause journalists to manipulate the content the
press produces. This leads to a multitude of alternate biases. For example, some media sources
are biased in the favor of Republicans and others in the favor of Democrats. Many are also
independent and have a set of views and beliefs all their own. Media biases also vary in intensity.
Some sources may attempt to seem neutral, but possess an underlying biasto a certain side. Others,
on the other hand, may thrive on criticizing and denouncing an opposing side.

It was created to be free of external influence and free to cover all stories possible. Even though
some news is impartial, people have different biases and many media organizations attempt to
appeal to that bias through gatekeeping and agenda setting. This allows people to congregate
with others with the same views and create an atmosphere that ignores people who do not have
the same biases. Consequently, people become polarized and oblivious to the people on the
opposite side of the ideological spectrum. However, simply diversifying the sources of one s
media intake may break through the atmosphere of polarization. If one understands the opposing
side s point of view, then he or she will discover other types of bias and the reasons behind that
bias. In other words, if a person were to watch solely Democratic sources of media, then he or
she will never comprehend the Republican point of view. However, if the person chooses to
watch a variety of news sources, then he or she will learn to appreciate both sides of the political
spectrum. The observer will then understand that the media is geared towards a specific audience
and all have different biases and bias

Experiment: Atomic Structure
In this experiment, you will have a chance to test the hypothesis that Ernest Rutherford used when
determining the size of the nucleus. In his gold foil experiment, Rutherford shot alpha particles at
gold atoms. Once he realized that the alpha particles were hitting a concentrated positive mass, he
developed the nuclear model of the atom. Next, he set out to determine the relative size of the
nucleus compared to the rest of the atom. He reasoned that the smaller the nucleus, the less likely
it was to be hit by an alpha particle. This led to a simple comparative ratio:

The Wasteland by T.S. Eliot
T.S. Eliot s most famous poem The Wasteland, a grim picture of post war London is analyzed as
being the most important poetic work of the twentieth century. The first glance at this poem leads
one to the conclusion that the content of this piece is bleak and depressing. The assumption can be
made that Eliot has diagnosed his society with a terminal disease, which he chooses to describe
through his poem. After further analyzing The Wasteland it can be seen that out of the dust of this
barren place there shines a light of hope. In this decayed hole among the mountains/In the faint
moonlight, the grass is singing (361 62). The decaying world being serenaded by the grass under
the moonlight reinforces the idea that out of desolation, something wonderful can be found or
created. Eliot scatters The Wasteland with motifs in the setting that directly contrast to the fertile
periods of society in previous years. Eliot intentionally manipulates an obscure water motif in order
to illustrate nature and life. Just like water is constantly altered in structure through its path, Eliot s
poem continually changes due to his literary structure of writing: stream of consciousness. It is
strange to think of a description of a barren land being writhe with water. Eliot discusses a drought
in a desolate dessert, yet also talks about the abundance of it in the drowning of the Phoenician
Sailor. He seemingly contradicts himself in his discussion. Water is a symbol of fertility, how can

What Make An American Essay
Throughout history, many countries have had tyrannical, corrupt, control of its citizens, either
through religion or a long line of greedy ambitious rulers. America, the new world, has changed
that. By fighting for liberty and becoming independent from European powers, America showed its
instinct originality from the rest of the world. Together, each American citizen has their own right
to individuality, right to pursue anything they seem fit, and roots tying them into who they are.
These are what make an American. Freedom of speech, religion, possessions are all in the very
first amendment of the American Constitution stating Congress shall make no law respecting an
establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of
speech[.] Giving the people the power to freely express who they are individually. Whether that
be religion, education, travel, and the ability to uphold who they will grow up to be in the future.
Loyalty, devotion, ambition, expectation, willingness to go further, to pursue whatever seems fit
and motivated to learn and to grow, to go for what they believe in, to accomplish whatever task

Analysis Of Verses Upon The Burning Of Our House
Anne Bradstreet was and is a highly regarded Puritan poet of seventeenth century American
literature. She defied cultural expectations of women at the time and became the first
accomplished woman poet of the New World. As evident in her poetry, she was strictly loyal to
God and her Puritan beliefs, but she was not exempt from grief and doubt in the face of tragedy.
Some, however, would argue that her grief and doubt in response to those tragedies showed a stray
from her strict Puritanbelief system. One controversial tragic event, in particular, that she wrote
about exemplified her struggle between earthly desires and heavenly truths: the blaze that overtook
her family s home. Anne Bradstreet, in her poem Verses upon the Burning of Our House,
demonstrates the common internal conflict of Christians as she battles between her Puritan
theology and her innate human emotions in response to her devastating house fire.
Anne was born in the early seventeenth century in England. She was privileged with an excellent
education because her father, Thomas Dudley, was a steward to a prominent figure. She married
Simon Bradstreet at just sixteen years of age while still residing in England. When Anne was still
a teenager, the Puritans of the Massachusetts Bay Company made the decision to leave and settle
together in the New World, the Dudleys and Bradstreets journeyed with them. In contrast to the
way she was raised, the life of settlers proved to be difficult in the colony because of

Huckleberry Finn Moral Lessons Essay
Learning Moral Lessons The book, The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, is based of social
comments and moral lessons presented by an amazing writer Mark Twain. Mark Twain as an
author has incorporated these lessons in secret but obvious ways throughout his writing. He
mentions some that include, don t treat people different just because of their race. Secondly, he
mentions the importance of friendship. Finally, he shows how Huck Finn learns that his vision of
the right thing to do is different from the vision of society s. These moral lessons are portrayed in
many examples throughout the book. The first lesson Mark Twainaddresses in the story is about

Huck died earlier before he ran away. That is where Huck and Jim s journey of friendship had

Another main key detail he does to secure his point is when Jim gets put into the cellar, Huck

Piaget s Theory Of Child Development
Theories of Child Development
Child development is the study of how a child s behavior and thought processes affect their
ability to develop at the proper rate. There are many factors to be considered when referring to the
development of a child as children are so easily moldable. A child starts out with a blank slate and
from then on their experiences, their social groups, parents, environment and so much more will
take part in how they will develop.
Two very influential people in psychology, Sigmund Freudand Jean Piaget, had an interesting take
on what a child goes through as they develop through each stage. Freud and Piaget both came up
with their own theories as to how a child grows cognitively throughout their life. These two
psychologists set the standard for modern day practices with Freud s realization of infants needs,
Piaget s theory of cognitive development, and how Piaget shaped child development in modern
schooling.
Sigmund Freud was one of the very first psychologists to delve into the topic of child
development; he had a very unique outlook. Initially, people agreed with his theory called the
Psychosexual Theory, which contains four stages. The first being the oral stage, this happens when
a child is an infant. The child will experience and discover new things with their mouths. ...The
infant may swallow that which is experienced as pleasant and spit out anything experienced as
unpleasant. (Garcia, 1995, p. 499) The next stage is referred to as the anal

Wartburg College is nestled in the small Iowa city of Waverly population 10,106. The small
campus of 1,482 is arranged so it is very close together and most buildings are connected by
skywalks. Since the private college is so small, the average class size is eighteen, and the student
to faculty ratio is an impressive 11:1. Of the 1,482 students at Warburg Collegearound 450 are
involved in music in some way. This shows a strong emphasis on and belief in music. There are
currently fifteen choral and instrumental ensembles at Wartburg and there is always potential to be
more. They allow people to form music ensembles and have them supported by the school if a
faculty member will sponsor it. They even have a community symphony that some selected students
can play in. With this, the students can interact more with the Waverlycommunity and form some
important business connections that they can call on in the future. All the ensembles are open to
music and non music majors and they are all open to incoming freshman. Students do not have to
be an upperclassmen to make it into one of the three internationally touring ensembles. Wartburg

With that ball pitchers were allowed to scuff, cut, and spit on it, affectively being able to make the
ball dance and harder to hit. People put the end of the dead ball era on the 1919 season when Babe
Ruth hit an unheard of 29 homeruns. People began to pack the stands to see the long ball, so
owners decreased the dimensions of the fields thus increasing the odds of someone hitting a
homerun. They also added rules to the pitchers against scuffing and cutting, and the balls were
switched out more frequently too. The MLB didn t start until 1876 with the National league and
then they brought in the American league in 1901. The first World Series was held in 1903 with

Safety of Amalgam Fillings
What are amalgam fillings? Most people recognize dental amalgams as silver fillings. Dental
amalgam is a mixture of mercury, silver, tin and copper. Mercury, which makes up about 50
percent of the compound, is used to bind the metals together and to provide a strong, hard, durable
filling. After years of research, mercury has been found to be the only element that will bind these
metals together in such a way that can be easily manipulated into a tooth cavity. Is mercury in
dental amalgam safe? The amount of mercury released in the mouth under the pressure of chewing
and grinding is extremely small and no cause for alarm. In fact, it is less than what patients are
exposed ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They can withstand the forces of chewing.
They are less costly than the alternatives.
Amalgam fillings can be completed in one dental visit.
They are less sensitive to moisture during the filling process than composite resin.
Disadvantages
Amalgam doesn t match the color of your teeth.
Amalgam fillings can corrode or tarnish over time. This can cause discoloration where the filling
meets the tooth.
A traditional (non bonded) amalgam filling does not bond (hold together) with your tooth.
The cavity preparation (the pocket in your tooth) developed by your dentist requires undercuts or
ledges to keep the filling in place. Your dentist may have to remove more of the tooth to create a
secure pocket.
Some people may be allergic to mercury or be concerned about its effects. Research shows that the
amount of mercury exposure from fillings is similar to what people get from other sources in the
environment.

Give one reason why PPP uses byte stuffing instead of bit stuffing? Tanenbaum(2011) states that
the primary reason behind this is that PPP is byte oriented. While HDLC is still in use to a
limited extent, it was created before the Internet as part of the OSI model. The internet itself is byte
oriented, so it follows that PPP (as a protocol designed for the internet) would use byte stuffing
instead of bit stuffing.

The Personality Of A Personality Disorder
During many years and even today, society has wonder about some of the personality disorders.
Every time they hear about those disorders people tend to think that there is murder and abuse
involve and that those people are dangerous to society. Since people lack knowledge about the
different types of personality disorders, they tend to lack the ability to deal with those type of
people. There has always been questions about the symptoms, causes, treatment and involvement in
society that involve the Antisocial, Anxietyand Narcissist disorders. We hear about these disorders
everywhere, in media and in everyday life. However, we do not completely understand these
disorders to the extent to know what kind of people live around us.
First of all, the antisocial personality disorder is one of the most common disorder that many
people have the least knowledge. Another name to the antisocial personality disorder is
Sociopath. Since this disorder is antisocial, the symptoms that involve this disorder reflect some
lack of involvement in society. Disregard of right and wrong is one of the symptoms that involve
the lack of involvement in society. Since an antisocial does not acknowledges between right and
wrong, the involvement in criminal activity is common. These people can also be persistent lying

As implied in the title he is conducting an experiment, however it is not as simple as it seems.
Firstly one may wonder what exactly is his experiment. You see it isn t just about how this

behaviour of those once they do become young, do they become even more obnoxious than they

G-String Social Norms
What does an author hope to achieve by violating social norms in their stories? While some may
solely do it for the thrill of being edgy and outlandish, many use it as a path to normalize
something the author believes should no longer be ostracized in their society. This may come in
the form of a woman becoming independent from an oppressive man, a man escaping a loveless
marriagethat he feels trapped in, or any other person escaping the societal chains which hold them
back from their true potential as an individual. No matter the case, progress towards a more joyful
world cannot be made through idleness. Change happens because people force change to happen,
and the first step to that is to create a catalyst for deliberation. The easily consumable nature of
short stories makes them an excellent tool for opening a dialogue about a social norm that an
author finds off putting or harmful. In the short storyG String by Nicola Barker, the protagonist,
Gillian, is portrayed as a woman in a marriage in which her husband has spent years conditioning
her to think very little of herself through his derogatory comments and blatant disregard for her
feelings. After putting up with insult after insult, she finally stands up for herself and fixes a
problem with her husband s car that he could not solve by using her undergarment, a g string. The
story is not truly about the g string, instead playing a symbolistic role by signifying all that holds
her back. The story is actually about

focused on how his organization could help change the unjust and discriminatory justice system. In
Bryan Stevenson s book Just Mercy, poverty affects the lives of those sentenced for criminal
activity due to a lack of adequate and available legal, social, and medical resources.
Stevenson described many impoverished families who could not afford lawyers that had the
background and knowledge needed to try their cases successfully. Without the effectiveness of a
strong attorney, prisoners were forced to plead guilty due to an inadequate defense and
information provided by their lawyers. In addition to lack of information given, lawyers were not
spending adequate time on the poverty related cases. With a quick trial time and all the
information not being exposed, condemned prisoners were forced to go for a guilty plea. Bryan
Stevenson got a firsthand look at unjust resources the impoverished prisoners

Essay on The Introduction of Prohibition
The Introduction of Prohibition
Prohibition was introduced in 1920 as part of an amendment to the Constitution of the USA. It was
introduced for a variety of different reasons including a wartime concern for preserving grain for
food rather than for brewing and distilling. There were also feelings against the German Americans,
who were responsible for brewing and distilling, at a time when America was at war against
Germany which also let the Anti Saloon league influence the general public before the main
objectors, the men, returned home. Even though there are many reasons for the introduction of
prohibition there was only one main consequence. It created the greatest criminal boom in American

people in the belief that prohibition would succeed was the cost of alcohol so people may have
used the law as an opportunity to give up alcohol without seeming odd to others. Moreover, this
problem would not prevent wealthy Americans from trying to purchase alcohol because they had
the money to do it without sending their family into the downwards spiral of poverty. Also, to
begin with the level of enforcement for the law was so high that even if people did not support the
law, the prohibition commissioners could have worked hard to dispose of alcohol whilst gathering
support. However, this hard work soon ended when the commissioners, along with the police,
politicians, magistrates, party officials and clerks, began to accept bribes from gangsters and the
owners of speakeasies to ignore the activities that were taking place around them. Even though there

Evaluation Of Hedonic Price Model
4. Methodology
4.1. Analytical Framework (Generalized Spatial Two Stage Least Square: GS2SLS)
Hedonic price model has been developed and widely used to identify the factors explaining housing
prices (Malpezzi, 2003). In this study, we deal with additional two statistical issues such as
endogeneity between land use and housing price and spatial autocorrelation between housing prices.
First, endogeneity should be carefully accounted for when measuring the effect of land use on
housing prices because a simultaneous relationship between land use and housing prices exists.
For example, better accessibility or high levels of mixed land use increase housing prices because
such land use features bring about more activities firms are encouraged ... Show more content on
Helpwriting.net ...
However, this approach cannot deal with spatial autocorrelation between housing prices. Previous
studies have demonstrated that housing prices can be spatially affected by neighboring housing
prices or unobserved neighboring factors. If we do not control for the spatial autocorrelation, the
estimated values can be biased and inefficient (Anselin, 1988). In order to account for the issue, we
use generalized spatial two stage least square (GS2SLS) model that accounts for the endogeneity
and spatial autocorrelation together, which is expressed as the following equations;
P=О»WP+О±L М‚+ОІX+u (5) u=ПЃWu+Пµ Because the hedonic price model generally uses a
log form of housing prices, our final empirical model used in this study is expressed as the
following equations;
lnвЃЎ(P)=О»W[ln(P)]+О±L М‚+ОІX+u(6) u=ПЃWu+Пµ 4.2. Spatial Weight Matrix
A spatial weight matrix presents the pairwise spatial relationship between two any spatial units. It
has two different types such as contiguity based weight matrix and distance based weight matrix.
Although it can be chosen by researcher s judgement, distance based weight matrix is more
appropriate when the size of spatial units is irregular (e.g., in the case of census tracts). Hence, the
spatial weight matrix used in this analysis is expressed as the follows;
W_ij={■(1 if d_ij≤C @0 if d_ij C or i=j)┤(7)
where C denotes a distance cutoff

My First Goal As A Man Of Value
My whole life I have always wanted to be a man of success and a man of value. I had many goals
when I was young, and two of those goals are very dear to me. My first goal was to become a
successful entrepreneur like my father. And second goal was to come to America and get an
education from any university here, which I am currently working on. From my parents, I learned
that I needed educationin order for me to succeed throughout life. Since I was a very young man I
have always valued and tried to get the best education there is. I come from a very strong business
family, I have always focused my interest for my career in marketing and advertising. My father
owns his own company, and he is constantly traveling and I am a person who love traveling, which
inspires me to follow that path.
Since I was young, I have been learning new things. These lessons were formal as found in
academic studies, and I had jobs, through those jobs I had additional training, personal learning,
and in the pursuit of my own interest and hobbies. Despite on where or how I got knowledge, how
we approach learning is very different to each individual based on learning styles. As very different
individuals we all learn differently. Some people learn by actually touching the subject, some by
hearing, and some seeing. Through this paper I will talk about my personal reflection of my

Bob Dylan Research Paper
One can be one of the most important aspect in someone s life. Without it, life would be empty.
Bob Dylan is one of the most influential singer songwriters of the 20th century whose career
began in the early 1960s after getting a rave review with songs that chronicled social issues like war
and civil rights in the New York Times. On October 13, 2016, Bob Dylan
made history by being the
first musician to win the Nobel Prize for Literature. Dylan wrote the song They Times They Are A
Changin when he was 21. It was during the time of the civil rights movement, the generation gap,
and the Vietnam War. For today s anti war and global justice movements, Dylan s songs of the
sixties offer both a bracing protest against enduring enemies and a salutary... Show more content on

The poem style of the song is already very engaging, because he welcomes everyone who is
willing to help with the movement. Like in literary work, Dylan uses imagery to express what
he feels, and for readers to be able to identify what is going on, using strong and vivid language.
For example in line 14, Don t speak too soon for the wheel s still in spin (Dylan 14), and line 26,
It ll soon shake your windows and rattle your walls (Dylan 26). Dylan uses these phrases to
create a feeling of hope and suspense for all that is to come. Also, Dylan shows real life
connections in his lyrics by the use of metaphors. For instance, Admit that the waters around you
have grown, and accept it it that soon you ll be drenched to the bone (Dylan 3). He starts off one
of his hits by using the waters as a metaphor to all the social changes that happened during the
1960s such as, the civil rights movement. In addition, it is evident the use of repetition at the end
of every verse when he says, for the times they are a changin (Dylan), to transmit his message and
to make it clear. By using literary elements like imagery, metaphors and repetition in his lyrics,
Dylan transforms an ordinary song lyrics into poetry, making it worthy of the Nobel Prize for

Sectional Tensions

AP US History

Although now one nation as United States of America, in the past, the nation was divided into
sections: the North and the South. The nation had to go through tragic Civil War to be united and
become successful and grow as one unity. Behind the Civil War there was a gradual increase of
sectional tensions between the North and the South mainly due tothe western expansion.Utilization
of slavery became the main conflict between the North and the South. This essay will focus briefly
on the background of western expansion and how it had contributed to the growing sectionalism. In
1803, President Thomas Jefferson purchased the territory of Louisiana from the French government
also known as the Louisiana Purchase. The Louisiana Purchase stretched from the Mississippi
River to the Rocky Mountains and from Canada to New Orleans, and it doubled the size of the
United States. Jefferson thought westward expansion was the key to the nation s health. In order to
provide enough land to the yeoman (farmers), the United States had to continue to expand.
Jefferson believed that western expansion would fill up the empty lands with immigrants and
provide enough lands for the farmers, so he decided to support the western expansion. ... Show more

Northern cities, the center of industry in the United States, became major melting pot and a core
due to an increase of immigration. Since they had available cheap labor force, the North did not
require a slave system. Although some Northerners found the institution of slavery morally
reprehensible, most did not believe it was a moral thing. The slavery issues became even more
devastating when it threatened to expand westward because non slave holding white settlers did not

Cancer Cell Comparison
The cell cycle of a normal cell and a cancer cell have many similarities and differences. The main
similarity is that both sets of cells undergo the four phases of the cell cycle: G1, S, G2, M. There
are three checkpoints within the cell cycle that tell the cell to move to the next phase or die, but
cancercancer cells do not obey the checkpoints. During the first phase, G1 phase, normal cells
double in size and the number of organelles double as well. The G1 checkpoint ensures that
proper doubling has occurred and allows cells to move forward to S phase. However, cancer cells
that are too small or have too few organelles will not die. During the second phase, S phase, DNA
replication (an identical copy of all the cell s DNA is made)... Show more content on

Cancers that are associated with environmental risk factors have to do with where they spend
most of their time (usually where they live). Some examples of cancers that can be passed on
genetically are breast and ovarian cancer. The mutated genes of a parent can be inherited by
their children causing them to get the same cancer. BRCA1 and BRCA2 are tumor suppressor
genes that can be mutated to cause breast and ovarian cancers. Some examples of cancers caused
by environmental factors are lung and skin cancer. People who smoke tend to get lung cancer
because when they inhale cigarette smoke and there are chemicals in it that cause cancer.
Radiation, specifically from the sun, can cause skin cancer because it damages the DNA in the
cells, which causes mutations of the cells. According to a surgeon named Sanjiv Haribhakti, only
5 10% of all cancer cases can be attributed to genetic defects, whereas the remaining 90 95% have
their roots in the environment and lifestyle. In other words people are more likely to get cancer due
to environmental factors and not by inheriting

A Theory Of Ontology And A Position On The Problem Of...
To understanding how we use language to describe the world, we need theories to describe and
explain our reality. The title quote is taken from Willard Van Orman Quine s, On What There Is , in
which he presents a theory of ontology and a position on the problem of universals. The problem of
universals questions the existence of universals. Universals are properties and relations which are
held in common by shared qualities. In comparison, particulars are concrete entities. The debate is
centred around two opposing viewpoints nominalist and realists. Realists believe in universals,
nominalists do not. While realists endorse both universals and particulars, nominalists reject the
notion of universals and only accept the existence of particulars. Consequently, there is
disagreement among philosophers whether universals exist. Discussion of the titled quote follows
an examination of the One Over Many argument which leads to the problem of universals. In this
essay, I show that I agree with the title statement and will argue in favour of a nominalist account of
universals. I will focus primarily on Quine s argument for nominalist semantics. This argument will
be presented by questioning the universalredness and the role of meanings. In examining arguments
made by Armstrong and subsequently presenting a response to these critiques via the analysis of
Devitt, I will also discuss the infinite regress problem and the validity of the One Over Many
argument. My conclusion will be

New Age Dating Sociology
Historically dating, navigating relationships and ending relationships had been quite the difficult
task. The introduction of the internet, texting, and social networking has changed the way
individuals communicate amongst each other. For this reason, many researchers are interested in
how gender plays a role in an individual s concepts of new age dating, flirting, hook up culture,
breaking up and relationships in relations to new media. This paper will argue that new age media
has enhanced communicationand mitigates the miscommunication hypothesis to an extent.

Throughout both articles a theme of persistence on the side of men and reservation for women are
found. The existence of these cultural norms continue onto the youth and impact their sexuality and
behaviour. That being said however there is a distinction to the modern day with new age media.
Acquaintances can now be better established through digital profiles, knowledge can be readily
shared, thoughts and feelings are better formulated, and distance between the parties allows for
better managing of the situation. This is especially true in regards to breaking up within
relationships. The distance aspect allows the individual to disassociate from the other person with
minimal knowledge to the outcome. Ambiguity and social habits remain the same with new age
media but given the explicit, slow response and distant nature of new media in comparison to in
person discussion allows for a potentially safer, manageable and controlled environment. While this
conclusion outright ignores falsifying personalities and information completely, such as in
predatory behaviours, the argument that communication between two parties with romantic interest
is enhanced with the use of new age media has significant

Analyse the extent to which the social, cultural and family environment may contribute to the
development of eating disorders.
Eating disorders have been found through centuries of doctors records. Some as far back as the
seventeenth century through Morton (1694) descriptions of the symptoms of eating disorders
during this period in time. Despite this eating disorders were only formally known as a disorder
until 1980 when it was published in the DSM and more recent editions have shown that there are
two different forms of eating disorders which are anorexia nervosa and bulimia nervosa. This

Stirling and Hellewell discovered that bulimia is more common than anorexia which affects up
to three percent of the population and tends to develop later than anorexia starting mostly in
early adulthood. Many studies have been made to observe how social environments can
contribute to the development of eating disorders, BemIs (1978) believed that eating disorders
arise from attempts by young women to conform to a stereotyped and unrealistic body shape
that is shown in magazines, television, films and adverts aimed at young women. Bemys found
that anorexia and bulimia are much more common in western societies where thinness is
regarded as desirable. Ogden (1992) looked at how the ideal shape for women had become
slimmer, the methods they used for the study was to see what the physical features of female
fashion recruitments were in an agency in London between 1967 1987 and analyzed them. The
researchers examined the models height, bust, waist and hip measurements in order to see which
was commonly preferred in the fashion industry. After a twenty year period the results of the
study showed that over time the models became taller, with a decrease in hip and bust
measurements relative to waist size supporting the idea that society has changed to desire the
thinner and taller female figure as the ideal body shape. Garner et al (1980) believed that social
pressures do contribute to the onset of eating disorders especially to individuals such as dancers and

Summary Of The Of Khoja s Camel
Belakane stomped through the twisting dirt paths that ran between the houses of Arjana, a
mixture of fury and hunger making her dizzy and causing her vision to waver. She swayed a

she didn t care. How she hated these people, the hypocrites! They had looked at her with nothing
but pity from the moment she arrived on the back of Khoja s camel. She was an undesirable,
someone that they, in all their good grace, would be willing to bestow their charity upon. In

fields and livestock, bring back meat, protect the village, and carry on the family line. But
instead she was cursed with the bad luck to have been born a woman, a burden. Her parents
disposed of her at the first opportunity presented to them, when that evil merchant passed
through their village. When he departed, he had her tied by her wrists to one of his camels. She
cried out to her community members to help her, but they turned their gazes away from her
plight. When his caravan was out of sight of the villages, she was beaten and verbally assaulted
with each and every error she made, no matter how small; speaking without permission, serving
dishes in the wrong order, slouching, crying, being sloppy or slow in her duties. Then, nearly a
moon into their journey, her very life reached a dark and sinister climax. One night, when he had
impaired his senses with fermented drink and sacred herbs, he stumbled into her small tent with
impure motives. Her master began to rip her robes off one after the other. She struggled against
him, but he always kept her bound at night so that she couldn t run away, it was useless. She
forgot her pride and begged him to stop, sending pleas to the gods to protect her, but he only
laughed. He groped her and violated her with his fingers, and

Apr. 2016. Barriers to Nurse Practitioner Practice that Impact Healthcare Redesign is the article
written by two physicians, Debra Hain and Laureen M. Fleck. The two physicians explain the
barriers and setbacks that the scope of practice prevents APNs from practicing from. This article
also gives suggestions of what steps they think should be taken in order to completely make the
scope of practice fair for everyone who has been trained to practice specific skills. This will be
extremely beneficial to my proposalbecause Hain and Fleck describe the same steps to completely
even the scope of practice that I am proposing. I will be using this article mainly in my first and
second body paragraph so the readers know quickly what I am proposing and that there is
support from physicians on my side as well. This will hook the readers quickly and they will
instantly want to know more about how the scope of practice should be made completely even.
The article also gives examples about how the future of APNs education will look after the scope is
made completely equal. While talking about the future of education, the article mentions The
Robert Wood Foundation. This foundation was previously talked about in my call to action essay,
when I first discussed the scope of practice in nursing. With

Analysis Of I Descended By William Shakespeare
Throughout the history of literature, classic tales have been adapted and rewritten by various
authors. As a result, retellings are only a natural occurrence in literature and can oftentimes
convey the basic story in new and exciting ways. On the other hand, retellings can also miss the
mark, failing to produce a story that can triumphantly stand on its own as a work of art. An
example of this is Robin Talley s As I Descended, a modern telling of William Shakespeare s
Macbeth adapted to fall within the genre of young adult literature. Without a doubt, Robin Talley
s As I Descended follows the basic plot of Macbeth the rise and fall of an ambitious individual who
resorts to evil deeds in order to obtain prestige that is predestined to... Show more content on

First, Maria describes a weird mirror on her grandparent s back porch that she would stare at as a
child. But, as stated by the narrator, She never saw anything except her own reflection (Talley 14).
While Maria believes that the mirror had some sort of paranormal quality, there is no real
experience to back up this claim it was only a feeling that Maria had. On the other hand, further on
in the novel, it is described that Maria once saw a little boy, who said her name, sitting at the foot
of her bed. Considering the fact that these two mediocre examples are supposed to prove Maria s
seasoned past with spirits, it is only logical for readers to feel deceived. Talley went out of her way
to declare that Maria had a history with the supernatural in the first chapter of the novel, and even
repeated this fact several times throughout the story. However, she failed to effectively elaborate
upon this, instead providing two examples that were nothing short of unfulfilling. As a result,
readers start the novel wanting to know more about Maria s past, but are only met with an
incomplete backstory, leaving a feeling of frustration after the novel is finished. In connection to
Maria s incomplete backstory, Talley s second false step was the introduction of a supernatural
being known as La Llorona. Specifically, readers are introduced to two very differing accounts of
this spirit. According to Maria s nanny,

Rumors of human sacrifice and devil worship became prevalent in the social circles of plantation owners and slave traders. The practitioners of voodoo embraced this fear as means to frighten their former masters and gain some respect in a world where they were deprived of everything. Former slave owners quickly found themselves duped into the beliefs of voodoo dolls and hexes. Of course, many slave owners simply killed their slaves rather than be frightened by the voodoo. The practice itself is not actually frightening or powerful in any way, but that doesn?t matter to superstitious folks like those in Salem. No historical evidence of human sacrifice or affiliation with Satan has been discovered (Voodoo), or likely ever will be. Primary religions involved in the African aspect of voodoo are Macumba and Candomble of the Yoruba people of Nigeria, and several now extinct tribes from the Congos and Cameroon. These religions lay the groundwork for the course of religious ceremonies and contain the origins for the deities worshipped in modern voodoo. • 10. An Analysis Of Porter s Five Forces In The Porter The five forces used to analyze the level of competition formulated by Porter are the threat of new entrants, the bargaining power of suppliers, the bargaining power of buyers, the threat of substitute products or services and rivalry among existing competitors (M. E. Porter, 2008). Two additional forces, proposed by Boehlje Olson (2010), provide an external dynamic to Porter s original five forces, namely technology and other drivers of change. In order to use the Porter five forces as an adequate backbone for describing the competition in our desired sector, we need thorough knowledge of the factors comprising these forces. We begin by providing an overview of general important factors used in recent literature. Threat of new entrants... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Buyers will try to lower the price and increase the quality of products through bargaining and negotiating. According to Porter (2008) negotiating leverage will increase if there are relatively few buyers or purchases have a large volume compared to single supplier output, if suppliers have undifferentiated products, the switching costs are low and if backwards integration is feasible. The agribusiness chain has unique features such as perishability, seasonality, rapidly changing supply and demand, use of contracts and sometimes limited price information, which will shape the supplier buyer interactions (Cook, 2011; Olson Boehlje, 2010). Similar to the bargaining power of suppliers, producers are placed in the middle of the chain. Therefore they will act as buyers to the input sector while being sellers to the retail sector. This results in a unique and often vulnerable position in the value chain. This relationship will also be thoroughly discussed in following paragraphs when we analyze the price transmission and ... Finance unites my limitless passion for math and joins it with some of my personality traits, which is the best of both worlds. More specifically, in my upbringing, money was tight and my parents always stressed when facing financial issues. My background catalyzed my admiration to the effect the power of money holds when used properly. Finding the best financial effects and awareness of all options to make well informed financial decisions to assist an individual or a company in the most beneficial way seems rewarding and intriguing to me. So, all of these elements have directed me into my interest in Finance. 2. • 13. Mating Among Seahorse Research Paper Mating among Seahorses by Tina Huang February 12, 2015 Organisms have participated in mating in order to pass their offspring into another generation. Mating refers to when animals court and breed each other, an act of reproduction. Male pregnancy is the norm for seahorses, becoming a part of behavioral evolution. Male parental care has led to the broad diversity of seahorses or sympatric speciation. Seahorses use assortative mating, also known as choosing mates based on their body size. The dependency of this type of mating was a consequence of the monogamous mating system and lifestyle of seahorses. Monogamous pairing is when marriage is to one entity at a time, compared to bigamy or polygamy. The demonstrated adaptative differences such as size in the same habitat proves the occurrence of sympatric divergence. Is that the only factor that influences the rise of new seahorse species? In this paper, I will examine five studies, from vast areas relating to the mating of seahorses and their patterns of mating behavior, illustrating its role in sympatric speciation. • 19. The Wasteland by T.S. Eliot T.S. Eliot s most famous poem The Wasteland, a grim picture of post war London is analyzed as being the most important poetic work of the twentieth century. The first glance at this poem leads one to the conclusion that the content of this piece is bleak and depressing. The assumption can be made that Eliot has diagnosed his society with a terminal disease, which he chooses to describe through his poem. After further analyzing The Wasteland it can be seen that out of the dust of this barren place there shines a light of hope. In this decayed hole among the mountains/In the faint moonlight, the grass is singing (361 62). The decaying world being serenaded by the grass under the moonlight reinforces the idea that out of desolation, something wonderful can be found or created. Eliot scatters The Wasteland with motifs in the setting that directly contrast to the fertile periods of society in previous years. Eliot intentionally manipulates an obscure water motif in order to illustrate nature and life. Just like water is constantly altered in structure through its path, Eliot s poem continually changes due to his literary structure of writing: stream of consciousness. It is strange to think of a description of a barren land being writhe with water. There are many factors to be considered when referring to the development of a child as children are so easily moldable. A child starts out with a blank slate and from then on their experiences, their social groups, parents, environment and so much more will take part in how they will develop. Two very influential people in psychology, Sigmund Freudand Jean Piaget, had an interesting take on what a child goes through as they develop through each stage. Freud and Piaget both came up with their own theories as to how a child grows cognitively throughout their life. The 22 MSB s of the binary are 10000111.00101110.00111100.00000000. Back to decimal , this is 135.46.60.0, which matches Interface 1, so it is routed there. 135.46.57.14 in binary is 10000111.00101110.00111001.00001110. Again the prefix points us to one of the Interfaces, so we take the 22 MSB s, or 10000111.00101110.00111000.00000000. Back to decimal, this is 135.46.56.0, which points to Interface 0, so that s where it is routed. 135.46.52.2. In binary this is 10000111.00101110.00110100.00000010. Every time they hear about those disorders people tend to think that there is murder and abuse involve and that those people are dangerous to society. Since people lack knowledge about the different types of personality disorders, they tend to lack the ability to deal with those type of people. There has always been questions about the symptoms, causes, treatment and involvement in society that involve the Antisocial, Anxietyand Narcissist disorders. We hear about these disorders everywhere, in media and in everyday life. However, we do not completely understand these disorders to the extent to know what kind of people live around us. First of all, the antisocial personality disorder is one of the most common disorder that many people have the least knowledge. Another name to the antisocial personality disorder is Sociopath. Since this disorder is antisocial, the symptoms that involve this disorder reflect some lack of involvement in society. Disregard of right and wrong is one of the symptoms that involve the lack of involvement in society. Since an antisocial does not acknowledges between right and wrong, the involvement in criminal activity is common. • 33. G-String Social Norms What does an author hope to achieve by violating social norms in their stories? While some may solely do it for the thrill of being edgy and outlandish, many use it as a path to normalize something the author believes should no longer be ostracized in their society. This may come in the form of a woman becoming independent from an oppressive man, a man escaping a loveless marriagethat he feels trapped in, or any other person escaping the societal chains which hold them back from their true potential as an individual. No matter the case, progress towards a more joyful world cannot be made through idleness. Change happens because people force change to happen, and the first step to that is to create a catalyst for deliberation. The easily consumable nature of short stories makes them an excellent tool for opening a dialogue about a social norm that an author finds off putting or harmful. In the short storyG String by Nicola Barker, the protagonist, Gillian, is portrayed as a woman in a marriage in which her husband has spent years conditioning her to think very little of herself through his derogatory comments and blatant disregard for her feelings. After putting up with insult after insult, she finally stands up for herself and fixes a problem with her husband s car that he could not solve by using her undergarment, a g string. Co founder of the Equal Justice Initiative, Stevenson focused on how his organization could help change the unjust and discriminatory justice system. In Bryan Stevenson s book Just Mercy, poverty affects the lives of those sentenced for criminal activity due to a lack of adequate and available legal, social, and medical resources. Stevenson described many impoverished families who could not afford lawyers that had the background and knowledge needed to try their cases successfully. Without the effectiveness of a strong attorney, prisoners were forced to plead guilty due to an inadequate defense and information provided by their lawyers. In addition to lack of information given, lawyers were not spending adequate time on the poverty related cases. It was introduced for a variety of different reasons including a wartime concern for preserving grain for food rather than for brewing and distilling. There were also feelings against the German Americans, who were responsible for brewing and distilling, at a time when America was at war against Germany which also let the Anti Saloon league influence the general public before the main objectors, the men, returned home. Nevertheless, this would not stop the large population of German Americans buying the alcohol along with many other Americans who had come to America from other countries. An additional consideration that led people in the belief that prohibition would succeed was the cost of alcohol so people may have used the law as an opportunity to give up alcohol without seeming odd to others. Moreover, this problem would not prevent wealthy Americans from trying to purchase alcohol because they had the money to do it without sending their family into the downwards spiral of poverty. Also, to begin with the level of enforcement for the law was so high that even if people did not support the law, the prohibition commissioners could have worked hard to dispose of alcohol whilst gathering support. However, this hard work soon ended when the commissioners, along with the police, politicians, magistrates, party officials and clerks, began to accept bribes from gangsters and the owners of speakeasies to ignore the activities that were taking place around them. Analytical Framework (Generalized Spatial Two Stage Least Square: GS2SLS) Hedonic price model has been developed and widely used to identify the factors explaining housing prices (Malpezzi, 2003). In this study, we deal with additional two statistical issues such as endogeneity between land use and housing price and spatial autocorrelation between housing prices. First, endogeneity should be carefully accounted for when measuring the effect of land use on housing prices because a simultaneous relationship between land use and housing prices exists. For example, better accessibility or high levels of mixed land use increase housing prices because such land use features bring about more activities firms are encouraged ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... However, this approach cannot deal with spatial autocorrelation between housing prices. Previous studies have demonstrated that housing prices can be spatially affected by neighboring housing prices or unobserved neighboring factors. If we do not control for the spatial autocorrelation, the estimated values can be biased and inefficient (Anselin, 1988). In order to account for the issue, we use generalized spatial two stage least square (GS2SLS) model that accounts for the endogeneity and spatial autocorrelation together, which is expressed as the following equations; P=О»WP+О±L М‚+ОІX+u (5) u=ПЃWu+Пµ Because the hedonic price model generally uses a log form of housing prices, our final empirical model used in this study is expressed as the following equations; lnвЃЎ(P)=О»W[ln(P)]+О±L М‚+ОІX+u(6) u=ПЃWu+Пµ 4.2. He starts off one of his hits by using the waters as a metaphor to all the social changes that happened during the 1960s such as, the civil rights movement. In addition, it is evident the use of repetition at the end of every verse when he says, for the times they are a changin (Dylan), to transmit his message and to make it clear. In 1803, President Thomas Jefferson purchased the territory of Louisiana from the French government also known as the Louisiana Purchase. The Louisiana Purchase stretched from the Mississippi River to the Rocky Mountains and from Canada to New Orleans, and it doubled the size of the United States. Jefferson thought westward expansion was the key to the nation s health. In order to provide enough land to the yeoman (farmers), the United States had to continue to expand. The title quote is taken from Willard Van Orman Quine s, On What There Is , in which he presents a theory of ontology and a position on the problem of universals. The problem of universals questions the existence of universals. Universals are properties and relations which are held in common by shared qualities. In comparison, particulars are concrete entities. The debate is centred around two opposing viewpoints nominalist and realists. Realists believe in universals, nominalists do not. While realists endorse both universals and particulars, nominalists reject the notion of universals and only accept the existence of particulars. Consequently, there is disagreement among philosophers whether universals exist. Discussion of the titled quote follows an examination of the One Over Many argument which leads to the problem of universals. In this essay, I show that I agree with the title statement and will argue in favour of a nominalist account of universals. I will focus primarily on Quine s argument for nominalist semantics. This argument will be presented by questioning the universalredness and the role of meanings. In examining arguments made by Armstrong and subsequently presenting a response to these critiques via the analysis of Devitt, I will also discuss the infinite regress problem and the validity of the One Over Many argument. As a result, retellings are only a natural occurrence in literature and can oftentimes convey the basic story in new and exciting ways. As a result, readers start the novel wanting to know more about Maria s past, but are only met with an incomplete backstory, leaving a feeling of frustration after the novel is finished. In connection to Maria s incomplete backstory, Talley s second false step was the introduction of a supernatural being known as La Llorona. Specifically, readers are introduced to two very differing accounts of this spirit. According to Maria s nanny, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
