Summary Of The Reclaiming The American Dream Report
In the Reclaiming the American Dream report (AACC, 2012), seven recommendations were
suggested to meet the needs of the students, as well as having a strong community college system.
Hence, these recommendation address redesigning students educational experiences, reinventing
institutional roles, and resetting the system to create incentives for students and institutional
triumphs.
Recommendation One A section of recommendation one is to increase completion rates of students
earning community college credentials (certificates and associate degrees) by fifty percent by
2020. (AACC, 2012 p. 26). Although recommendation one is certainly obtainable, completing the
goal by 2020 is doubtful. As an administrator, in order to see a goal this large come to
manifestation, everyone has to get on the bus, and asking the same question who instead of what
then, and only then will a goal this large will manifest ( Collins, 2001). However, utilizing
particular strategies to accomplish the goal will help toward achieving the goal. In doing that,
students would be served more effectively and more efficiently, because staff and faculty would be
more intentional regarding the service rendered. Affective academic advising is an essential and
sure way to promote students retention (O Banion, 1997). In addition, using strategies to construct
coherent, structured pathways to complete degrees, promote transfers from community colleges to
four year institutions, and to assist students

How The Apollo Missions Changed Space Travel
Space is something that we humans are never going to be able to comprehend and understand what
it is exactly. But knowing that still is not going to stop us from trying to know as much about space
as we possibly can. The Apollo missions took that step to reaching greater heights, and landing on
our moonto know more about what it is and what is on it. These missions changed our look on
space travel and what humans can accomplish if we put our minds to it.
The Apollo Program started in 1963 and went all the way through 1972. On January 27, 1967
there was an accident during the preflight test for Apollo 1. The Astronauts on that flight were
named Virgil Grissom, Edward White, and Roger Chaffee. They all lost their lives in a fire on
Apollo 1. What started the fire was an electrical failure in the command module which ignited the
inside of the ship with the Astronauts trapped inside with no way out. (Loff, Sarah)

Short Essay On The Monster Hunts
The house was atop a small old hill. Surrounding the house was a once neatly kept metal fence,
now all rusted and covered in overgrown foliage. An old worn gravel pathway lead straight to
the door. Weather had taken its toll on the house. The bricks were worn and faded from their
original color of red. The door was barely hanging onto its hinges, and the windows were cracked
and broken. Jackie and Joe got out of their old black Ford Mustang. Jackie s long blonde hair was
tied up in a ponytail. She had on blue jeans, black combat boots, and a brown leather jacket. Jackie
immediately ran to the back of their car and opened the trunk. Joe went over to the gate and
checked out the place. Joe was wearing his blue jeans, his faded brown leather... Show more content

It smells absolutely awful. I think that is coming from the basement. Joe replied, also covering
his nose with his shirt. Let s start to make our way down there. Joe said, disgust all over his face.
Joe make sure your weapon is ready, we don t know what will we find down there. Her voice
shaking as said it. Chills started to run down her back as she and Joe neared the door to the
basement. Joe slowly reached for the door handle. His hand was shaking uncontrollably as he
did. Slowly he opened the door as to not alert anything that was down there . The aroma was
even stronger. Blood stained the wooden steps leading to basement. The walls had scratches all
up and down them. Some even contained what looked like human fingernails sticking out of
them. They made their way further down the steps. When they reached the bottom a faint light
was coming from a table in the center room. Exposed water pipes lined all the walls. Cobwebs
were everywhere. Rats and other small rodents were running around on the blood stained floor.
Disappearing and reappearing through little holes in the walls. This doesn t feel right what so
ever. Joe whispered, sweat starting to build up around his forehead. They inched closer to the
table. It was draped in a white cloth. A candle was placed in the center of the table. Complete
silence filled the room. The only thing able to be heard was Joe and Jackie s faint breathing.

Essay on A History of the 714th Tank Battalion
A History of the 714th Tank Battalion, 1942 45
The men of the 714th Tank Battalion served their country in its greatest time of need. A key
element of the 12th Armored Division, the 714th fought in harsh conditions against a desperate
German enemy for five consecutive months, driving the Nazi Armies from France and back into the
German heartland.
The 12th Armored Division was activated on 15 September 1942 at a freshly built Camp Campbell,
Kentucky, and soldiers from across the nation began arriving to fill the division s ranks on 24
October 1942. The governors of both Kentucky and Tennessee participated in the activation
ceremonies, in which Major General Carlos Brewer was named commander of the forming division.

The 12th Armored began division sized maneuvers on 27 April 1943, and Camp Campbell was
used on the 16th and 17th of July, 1943, to stage the Division s first corps level problem with the
IV Corps, Second Army. The 12th Armored had been assigned to IV Corps the previous month.
In August 1943 the 12th Armored Division executed two exercises in preparation for the
Tennessee Maneuvers, which were to start in September. The first was a crossing of the
Cumberland River, an amphibious operation lasting approximately four days. The second exercise,
involving four days of air ground tactical training, developed upon the Division s return to Camp

on 3 September 1943. The 12th participated in eight of the Tennessee Maneuvers operations, which
lasted from 6 September to the first of November, 1943.
After the Tennessee Maneuvers the Division was reassigned to Camp Barkeley, Texas, and ordered
to streamline its forces. Major General Carlos Brewer removed the regimental organizations in the

Monophobias In Midair By Frank Conroy
Phobias are irrational sensations of fear that are triggered by a traumatizing event in a person s
life. At a young age we are taught fear. Dont touch the stove, it s hot. Dont talk to strangers, they
could take you. Although they would pay me to take you back Mom would say. Dont put things
into the electical outlets. Do you want your hair to look like Don King? Dad would ask. But then
there are the fears that happen just living life like the fearof being alone, heights and losing
someone you love. In the short story Midair by Frank Conroy the main character Sean has phobias
that have been triggered by events in his childhood. At six years old Sean stares down at the
street, at the cracks in the sidewalk. With very limited motion available to his arms, he finds his
father s belt and hangs on with both hands. Sean and his father are pulled back in by the goon
squad . This event in Sean s life is the one that caused a lot of phobias unbeknownst to him.

What Is The Similarities Between The Lhamo Theatre And The...
Lhamo, claimed by many to be the oldest living theatre in the world, for its origin dates back to at
least the 8th century AD; it is also one of the least extensively studied forms of theatre. Often a
similarity is made between the Athenian theatre festivals and the Tibetan theatre. The analogy
between the two is noticeable in the focus being on the poetic and sung parts, the chorus and the
structure and the use of space. There are no proven real historical links but the overwhelming
resemblance must be acknowledged which is reflected in the relationship between the theatrical
event and the spirit of the community. The entire community comes together ( with no distinction
made in class and creed) and gathers around the theatre to watch the... Show more content on

He passed his own visions of the dance to his students. Mudras, or symbolic gestures, were used
to captivate spiritual energies which enhanced the inner spiritual values of wisdom and
compassion, each mudra is supposed to have special powers in itself. Masks made of clay and
cotton were used to portray mighty gods, and formidable spells were chanted while performing.
These grandiose performances were used to drive away local wicked heathen deities and evil
spirits for the purpose of creation of a purified realm for a monastery to be built upon the
foundations of a new religion. Moreover, it symbolised the struggle between the protectors of the
new religion and the guardians of the local Bon Po religion. Cham thus appeared in Tibet during the

Essay on U.S. Military s Nuclear Technology
U.S. Military s Nuclear Technology
Albert Einstein once said, The splitting of the atom has changed everything save our mode of
thinking and thus we drift toward unparalleled catastrophe .It is a very true statement.Since the
discovery of nuclear technology there have been many different usages of this powerful,
dangerous, and destructive energy source. The US is one of the most powerful military forces of
the world.Part of that reason is because of its nuclear technology and capabilities. Also, the amount
of nuclear weapons and equipment far out numbers those of most competing countries. On top of
that the military s ease of nuclear weapons deployment to any target in the world also makes it a
force to be reckoned with.

refueled.Another advantage to this type of source of power is that does not require big bulky
engines, which enables the submarine to move more swiftly and stealthily; as well as provide more
room and storage for supplies.[3]
Another nuclear technological advance in the US military is the nuclear aircraft carrier. The
aircraft carrier is the heart of the US Navy.By adding nuclear technology to these massive giants
of the sea, it only makes the Navy s heart beat stronger. The main power sources of a nuclear
aircraft carrier are two GE pressurized water reactors, which power four turbines.[4]Like the
nuclear powered submarine, nuclear reactors are the main source of energy for the carriers. Also,
having a nuclear reactor as a main source of energy enables the carriers to sail all over the world
for many years without having to constantly refuel.[5]Having nuclear power aircraft carriers in its
arsenal allows the US to virtually have multiple floating bases anywhere in the world at one
time. The nuclear reactor also allows the carrier to reach its destination sooner, possibly preventing
an outbreak of conflict or seeing to a rapid conclusion of a conflict.[6]
In addition to the nuclear technology applied to its naval vehicles, the military has also applied
nuclear technology to its missiles.A nuclear weapon is defined as something that explodes using the
power unleashed by splitting the

The Importance Of Religion In Public Education
Religion has always been a major societal force. Though it helped define, shape, and lead cultures
as a prominent component of a well rounded education in the past, in the modern day, we have
discarded religious teaching in public education in favor of progressive, accurate, practical, and
provable knowledge. Most people, including educators, students, and the parental figures of
students, agree that the best way to educate students is in such a manner. The issue, however
surprising, still stands, and is the source of big political discourse throughout the country. Some
states, and some of the political figures that drive the educational system, are in favor of continuing
the in depth studies of religionin the classroom. The people in this group vary, some prefer
sticking to one religion to teach as compared to many. The Knightly Herald s Olivia Godfrey
presents this controversial topic in her article, titled, Why Religion Should Not Be Taught in
Public Schools. In the article, Godfrey defends the idea that religion should be kept out of a
public education, and that rather, religion should be left entirely in the hands of a student s life at
home. Government, be it state or federal, has no place in having a say of what kind of religious
education a student receives. It is a personal and familial matter that differs from person to person,
culture to culture. Godfrey unpacks and addresses, with the help of appeals to common sense, and
familiarity, the various perspectives

Conspiracy Theory And Conspiracy Theories
Trying to find out if a conspiracy theory is true or false is the hardest situation ever. There s just
more and more theories being brought to light each and every day. Conspiracy theories are said to
be explanations for an event that is manipulated by a group of people, usually used to cover up
something that s true. As the popularity of conspiracy theoriesblew up, they seemed to become
more hostile. Today s conspiracy theories seem to be believed by anyone, rather the information
is legit or not. Some are too weird to even believe in them and some aren t even close to being
normal. Knowing that some theories are true and some are false, it would be a crime to just
ignore these conspiracies. There are a lot of questions behind conspiracies. What is the type of
people creating these theories? What is the real definition? What keeps people so attached to
something that s widely talked about from different perspectives? An interesting quote that
connects with this topic is The main thing that I learned about conspiracy theories, is that
conspiracy theorists believe in a conspiracy because that is more comforting. The truth of the
world is that it is actually chaotic. The truth is that it is not The Illuminati, or The Jewish Banking
Conspiracy, or the Gray Alien Theory. The truth is far more frightening Nobody is in control. The
world is rudderless. Truly no one knows if they re correct, no one knows anything. It s all just a
theory.

Adolf Hitler and the Loss of World War II Essay
Adolf Hitler s military tactics, poor leadership skills, and actions caused him to lose World War
II. Hitler s objective was to gain world power. He was willing to risk everything for Germany to
become the most powerful country. According to Richard Overy, a British historian, If the
German people are not prepared to engage in its own survival, so be it: then it must disappear!
(538). Hitler was also willing to sacrifice Germany to attain world control and victory during
World War II. The idea of losing WWII never came across Hitler s mind because he was confident
that Germany would become victorious during the war. Germany was not able to claim victory
during World War II due to poor military guidance. Hitler s military tactics led

Hitler never realized that Germany had a chance to win World War II by using the blitzkrieg tactic
against all of their enemies. Another failing tactic of Hitler s was to focus on the Soviet Union
instead of focusing on other countries. Hitler focused on eliminating the Soviet Union after
Germany eliminated France. When Germany defeated France, Hitler made the mistake of not
paying close attention to the United States. According to David Kaiser, an American historian, The
Second World War confirmed the lesson of the first: that no European power had the economic
resources to compete with the economic might of the United States, furnished most of the supplies
for the Allied war effort against Germany and simultaneously defeated Japan as well (389). Hitler
failed to realize that the United States had a greater advantage than France or the Soviet Union to
defeat Germany. The United States was a simply rich country in military supplies, like tanks and
airplanes that were used to put an end on Hitler s army. Hitler also wanted to eliminate the Jews and
the spread of communism. According to Overy, German forces entered the USSR with instructions
from Hitler s headquarters to use the most brutal methods to keep control and to murder Communist
commissars and Jews in the service of the Soviet Union (BBC.com). Hitler thought that by
preventing the spread of communism and murdering Jews, Germany would have a greater

Animation Stimuli For The Study Of Instructor Gestures
System for creating animation stimuli for the study of instructor gestures in education. The system
does not require artistic talent or programming expertise. The system provides an animation
character that serves as an instructor avatar .The avatar can speak ,write on a nearby white board
,and make pointing ,embodied cognition and charisma gestures .The avatar is controlled with a text
script that specify when and what the avatar says and does. Introduction : Animation plays an
important role in education. Animation such as pointing; circling; or underlining can help capture;
maintain ,and direct the student s attention during lecture . Instructor animation serve as a
complementary communication channel that helps student parse and grasp the information
presented to them verbally and visually. For example : in the context of learning mathematical
equivalence ,a balance gestures elicits the students firsthand experience with the concept of physical
equilibrium, which is used to scaffold the novel concepts of balancing the sides of equation .
Animation can help convey an instructor s appealing and engaging personality which enhances the
learning .Important as animation seems to be ,much remains to be discovered through education
research regarding what ,when and how instructor animation benefit learning. . Traditional

The Epic Deception
The Epic Deception This September will mark the 13 year anniversary of the modern day Pearl
Harbor also known as 9/11. In these thirteen years our world has changed immensely. Our
government went from being the proponents of democracy to seldom acting like tyrannical
warlords. The Patriot Act suspended due process for anyone deemed an enemy combatant .
Defense contractors were given the biggest contract in American history. As a nation, we went to
two different wars and almost destroyed the world s economy. All of this occurred to ensure our
safety as citizens of this once great nation. But are we truly safer from terrorist attacks today than
we were in 2001? There was a poll that appeared around the five year anniversary of 9/11 that...

Although the report was very lengthy and comprehensive there were still a lot of facts that were
embellished. Other facts such as the fate of W. Trade Tower 7 were completely omitted from the
report. There was no thorough investigation into why the buildings collapsed when they were
reinforced to withstand the impact of a 747. Why would the people charged with investigating
what occurred on this dreadful day not tell the whole story? To answer this question we need to
understand who stood to benefit from an attack on American soil. Was it Al Qaedaor the Taliban
whose homes were bombed and who lost control of their very lucrative poppy fields? Or was it
the defense contractors who stood to make billions if not trillions from the war that would come?
As John Farmer, senior counsel to the 9/11 Commission and now dean of Rutgers Law School, said
that at the beginning of the investigation, the commission discovered that what had occurred that

Children At Bedtime Is Not Part Of My Parents
As the child snuggles into bed, the mother opens the worn down book filled with vivid, colorful
pictures and words flow out her mouth one by one. This is the scene of many homes every night
across the country, but it never was in my home. Reading to children at bedtime is not part of my
parents culture because they lived in a country where bookshad never been easily accessible outside
of school. It is at school is where I got exposure to readingand writingand where my literacy
journey began. Since then, my reading and writing has gone through a roller coaster course of
events which has lead them to where it is now.
In Kindergarten, the first place I was surrounded by English, my teacher would place thin
picture books in my shiny, pink book bag that was to be read at home. Once home, I would just
place the book on my dresser. Because nobody in my house, including me, could read the books,
the books collected dust until it was time to take back. I did not care for reading at this time and
made no effort to change. However, the addition of reading and comprehension tests ignited my
hatred of reading. Every so often my teacher would drag a table and two chairs outside into the
endless hallway, ignoring the screeching sound it made as it traveled in to the hallway. She
would place a book on the table that one was to read out loud and in her hands was rubric filled
with countless questions that she soon would ask. My heart would beat rapidly as I waited inside,

Allelic Variation in BRCA Genes Could Be the Key to Understanding Familial Breast Cancer
Introduction
Breast cancer is an uncontrollable division of cells within the breast tissue that affects about 12%
of women in their lifetime. Cancer can be caused by sporadic mutations influenced by
environment or by genetic disposition. Several genes play a role in cell division: Oncogenes are
responsible for directing mitosis, and tumor suppression genes prevent the expression of genes
involved in cell division. Mutations that occur in either gene can lead to carcinogenic tumor growth
and immortal cell lines. BRCA1 and BRCA2 are tumor suppression genes known as caretakers that
are responsible for maintaining the cell genome during cell ... Show more content on

A quantitative allelic imbalance assay was developed to determine differences in gene expression
from individual BRCA1/2 alleles. Allele specific assays quantify gene expression specific to the

reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction (RT PCR) using RNAs extracted from blood
lymphocytes. RT PCR uses reverse transcriptase to form an RNA/cDNA heteroduplex that is
then amplified by normal polymerase chain reaction techniques to produce a large quantity of
cDNA. Ratios of the cDNA from the two alleles were mixed for use in real time PCR (qPCR).
qPCR uses fluorescent probes that anneal to the cDNA during PCR. These probes contain a
reporter and a quencher; the reporter fluoresces when separated from the quencher, allowing a
computer to measure the number of cycles needed for the fluorescence to exceed background
levels (cycle threshold or CT). Using the ratios of cDNAs and ∆CT, a linear regression was
computed to form an allelic expression standard curve that can be used to evaluate allelic
imbalance. These same methods were repeated with BRCA2 with two individuals homozygous
for the BRCA2 c.3396A/A or BRCA2 c.3396G/G allele. The allelic imbalance assay developed was
now used with specific single nucleotide polymorphisms in BRCA1

Indiana Jones Movie My Favorite Movies
The Indiana Jones series is one of the most loved and hated series ever made. The Raiders of the
Lost Ark was the first Indiana Jones movie, which came out in 1981. Temple of Doom was the
second Indiana Jones movie, which came out in 1984. The Last Crusade was the third Indiana
Jones movie, which came out in 1989. The Indiana Jonesseries are my favorite movies to watch. I
think that the Indiana Jones movies are the best movies ever made because it shows adventure and
action, which I think is really cool.
The overall plot of the Indiana Jones trilogy is when Indiana Jones finds these amazing old artifact,
someone always comes and tries to stop him from taking it. Also the nazis are the main people that
take these artifacts from Indiana Jones because they thought it would make them invincible and the
most powerful army ever. The main characters of the Indiana Jones series are Indiana Jones,
Marion RavenWood, Dr. Rene Belloq, Sallah, Dr. Marcus Brody, Short Round, Willie Scott, and
Henry Jones. In the Raiders of the Lost Ark Indiana Jones tries to find and recover the Ark of the
covenant, but he gets stopped by the Nazis and then the Nazis open the Ark and they all get
disintegrated. In the Temple of Doom Indiana Jones finds the magical and mysterious stones and
he tries to steal them from this Ruler , but he gets caught and he goes through torture and finds a
way to get the stone and get out of the temple safely. In the last Crusade Indiana Jones searches for

The Hockey Of The Nhl
Women in the NHL There is this sport that you skate around on ice and try to get points by
hitting a puck into the other team s goal with a stick. It s one of the most popular sports in the
world. The profession team is called the National Hockey League (NHL), where there are over
25 teams in the league. This sport is really rough and competitive, it s mostly a men s sport. If
women were to play in the NHL they would be a huge role model. They have women hockey
leagues, but they don t have any professional team other than the Olympics team. Women today are
achieving so many things that will go down in history. They would also be sending out a message,

As a sport industry women are just beginning, and that means we will be seeing more women
entering the sport field. Jen Welter, is now the first female coach in NFL history, she will be the
coach of the inside linebackers for the Arizona Cardinals (Nichols,2015). Women are starting to
make their appearance, but it s a real struggle. These women are helping shape the game by
being coaches, but what about them playing. Especially with hockey, since it s a fast paced
game, with a lot of roughhousing and really big guys. For women to enter the NHL they are
going to have to be ready for a challenge. It would make us have a different outlook on the way
the game is played. There have been a few females to play in professional hockey, just not in a
full season with an NHL team. Women are becoming a big part of the sport industry. We see
women being fans, coaches, executives, etc. The advancement of women often stop just below
the general management level. The closest someone has ever gotten is an assistant general
manager. Her name is Kim Ng, she worked for the Los Angeles Dodgers and reached the
postseason eight times, the LCS six times and won three World Championships. She had been
worked in that position for 12 seasons with the team. Prior to joining the Dodgers, Kim Ng served

culture though a visual way such as painting and performing. Politics refer to some decisions
made by government in order to achieve governance. (Wikipedia) For Farewell My Concubine,

The Established Rules For The Doric And Corinthian Orders...
In Book 4, Vitruvius writes on the established rules for the Doric and Corinthian orders, and
explains the differences and peculiarities.
Chapter I: The Origins of the Three Orders, and the Proportions of the Corinthian Capital
In chapter 1, Vitruvius writes of the proportions of the Ionic, Doric, and Corinthian columns and the
similarities and differences. The three architectural order by its capital are Doric, Ionic, and
Corinthian. Corinthian columns, apart from in their capitals that has the same proportions as in the
Ionic order, but the height of the capitals taller than the Ionic capitals that give it a slimmer
appearance. In Corinthian style two thirds are added capitals, that gives a slender appearance to the
length of the columns. Corinthian columns are composed either of the Doric proportions or uses
the Ionic, and the Corinthian order does not have any peculiar arrangement for its cornices or other
ornaments. The Corinthian order may be arranged with a frieze decorated with sculptures that is
accompanied with dentils and coronae. The Corinthian order may include mutules in the coronae
and guttae with the architraves as the triglyph system of the Doric style or as the Ionic style.
Doric was the first to have rules for their symmetry to tolerate large sums of weight, and also to a
satisfactory appearance of beauty. They measured a man s foot and compared this with his height,
finding that the foot was one sixth of the height, and they applied the same principle

First Artificial Heart Transplant
The First Artificial Heart Transplant Elon Musk, an inventor, once said, If something is important
enough you should try, even if the probable outcome is failure. In the medical world, doctors have
to be satisfied with their outcomes, no matter the circumstance. After they research a new topic
and establish a base for a new invention, they work hard in order to make it perfect before using it
in a human body. The doctors make many improvements to their invention and test it in every
possible situation. Following the tests, the doctors will implant their invention into a human body
for the first time. They do not know if there will be any complications during this surgery or if it
will be a success, but they have to live with the initial result and improve on it for future transplants.
For example, the first artificial hearttransplant was a surprising success, but the surgery had several
complications, which led to improvements on all artificial hearts. In 1982, the first artificial heart
called the Jarvik 7 was implanted into a human body. The recipient of this heart was a sixty one

heart became available. They would then remove the artificial heart and put in the real one. This
decreased the mortality rate. The only downfall was that for people in the same situation as Clark,
being too old for a heart transplant, would not benefit from this discovery. As a result, a new

Angel Of The Last Judgment
Wassily Kandinsky s Angel of the Last Judgment was made during the pre war times in Europe.
Kandinsky s painting was included in the Merzbacher collection, a collection focused on how
colour had been used by European Artists in the 20th century. Kandinsky along with other Artists
such as Derain, Vlaminck and Braque were considered as Fauves meaning wild beasts a comment
made by Art critics who found their use of colour unnatural and aggressive. Along with Angel of the
Last Judgment, many paintings made around this time centralized around apocalyptic themes of
chaos and death. In the paintingthe viewer is caught in the middle of destruction with the piece s
swirling arcs that propel the eye across the canvas. Through prominent black lines an angelic
silhouette is implemented in the center of the painting. A sense of motion is conveyed with
feathered strokes of the figure s angelic wings. The upper borders are filled with warm reds and
oranges with curved black arcs interrupting and swirling around the piece. In the upper right corner
of the painting immerges a trumpet that seems to be screeching yellow and illuminates the whole

Vincent Van Gogh Struggles

Mobile Cloud Technology And Technology
Abstract the great emergence of mobile cloud computing has gained lots of interest in these
recent years. Mobile cloud computing consists of mobile devices and cloud computing offering
mobile cloud environment by using a huge number of different mobile devices. Any device uses
mobility such as laptops, tablets, and smart phones is considered as a mobile device. Due to the
great improvement of wireless networks like 4G and the expansion of use of mobile device, many
researchers are interested to provide different methods to use mobile resources for distributed
processes to compute many applications in mobile cloud environment. Although the last mobile
devices have improved processing power, there are some limitations in power capacity,
unpredictable network conditions, and connections availability that must be considered in order to
use mobile devices as resource. These dynamic changes may disconnect a mobile device from the
cloud computing and then prevent applications from completion. In other words, these problems
may cause a system to fault more frequently due to these changes. Therefore, in order to increase
the stability of these devices, there should be a monitoring technique to tolerate system faults. In
this paper, we focus on Markov Chain, which precisely collects and analyzes the information of
states and proactively predicts the status of future state in order to solve the volatility and instability
of mobile devices. Also, we study two fault tolerant methods,

Persuasive Essay On Fake News
Almost 1.8 billion people use Facebook, and about half of American adults use as their main
news source. According to Cambridge Dictionary, fake news is false stories that appear to be
news, spread on the internet or using other media, usually created to influence political views or as
a joke. Currently, many people are debating over the problem of fake news. For example, in the
2016 election, two candidates were chosen, Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump. As many citizens
possessed different political views, some started to create posts and articles to try and change
other s political opinions. As a result of this, companies were criticized for not taking measures to
reduce the amount of fake news. Later, companies started to take control of their software, as it is
essential to handle fake news as most people receive their information from these outlets. Although
some argue that the spread of fake news is the fault of the people who create it, it should be
largely the company s responsibility to control its spread; they should add algorithms to determine a
post s validity.
During the 2016 presidential election, Facebook was greatly disparaged for not making an attempt
to counter fake news. Although Mark Zuckerberg mentioned that Facebook had no connection with
the outcome of the election, some thought otherwise. For example, a man named Eric Tucker took
a picture of a road filled with buses who he claimed were filled with protesters who he thought

Summary Of Twelve By Alexander Blok
Peace, land, and bread ; the battle cry for the country during the Russian Revolution. With this in
mind, in the early 1900s, a rebellion swept through one of the biggest empires in Asia. This
revolution was unparalleled event in modern history (History: The Russian Revolution).
Nonetheless, the historical background of this time period can be displayed in various forms. In
this case, Twelve by Alexander Blok, is a poem that reflects the Russian Revolution and the
struggles in that time period. Moreover, the text takes place throughout a night and ironically begins
at twelve midnight. During the Russian Revolution, a lot of political and economic struggles

Alexander Blok makes use of juxtaposition to compare the revolution in Russia to how Russia was

how contrasting these two settings are. The black night expounds the dark cloud that was the
revolution and the white snow connotes how Russia was before everything derailed. Hence, setting

What are the techniques or processes involved in mining?
The mining techniques that involved in underground mining are Bord and pillar is the and was
very common in Australian like in NSW. This method uses a grid of tunnels that involves a lot of
cutting panels into a coal seam. While leaving the pillars of coal behind to support the mine.
Longwall mining was introduced and began in the 1960s. Longwall mining uses a mechanical
shearer to cut the coal away although the hydraulic powered holds up and supports roof of the
underground mine. When the coal is removed from the work site, the supports that are on the roof
of the underground mine are moved forward and the roof collapse behind them, which actually can
result in subsidence. Longwall mining are much better than the Bord and pillar. This is because
that it does not leave the pillars of coal behind. It is because that mineral resource can be removed

The Importance Of Human Values In Human Life
Humans have a tendency to indulge in luxuries, standing in mile long lines outside retail stores
in search for bigger and better devices despite already possessing everything necessary to live.
This facet that historically defines our species is traced back in author Yuval Noah Harari s
Sapiens: A Brief History of Humankind, which details the evolution of Homo Sapiens from being
an ordinary link within the food chain to a dominating influence on the Earth s ecosystem. Harari
explores the patterns in history that have evolved our mental and physical state, asserting that this
evolutionary past follows one of history s few iron laws: luxuries tend to become necessities
and...spawn new obligations (Harari 78 79). In other words, inessential yet desirable items can
eventually become ordinary with prolonged exposure, leading to a dependency on such items and
an obligation to sustain its presence in humanlife. By understanding how these tendencies evolved
within history, we can learn to distinguish between our needs and desires in order to avoid
becoming hostage to the luxuries that entice us.
Within the book, Harari applies his law to the start of the Agricultural Revolution, where luxuries of
wheat and sugar emerged and ultimately transformed into essential commodities. When wheat was
initially introduced, it was only a marginal part of the human diet due to its limited abundance. Yet
as soon as humans realized that areas of wheat gathered many other game and food sources,

The Help Historical Accuracy
Mid Term Research Paper History in the Movies The Help should be considered very historically
inaccurate in its depiction of the setting, characters, and events of the segregated South in the
1960 s. The Help seems to look past the true violence and discrimination that black men and
women faced during the time period, and shines light on the prominent southern belles, who in
actuality, were not always as kind to their black maids as they were depicted to be in the movie,
(MacNicol 2011). The Help displays several flaws in their portrayal of 1960 s Mississippi, and
depicts the very tense subject that is discrimination as a so called feel good movie. While still
exploring and giving viewers an insight on the racial tensions in the early 1960 s, The Help does
not accurately depict the problems that were faced by black citizens in the South. The first of
many historically inaccurate details in The Help is the setting. The Help is set to take place in
Jackson, Mississippi during the 1960 s. Mississippi is still known for it s southern values, a detail
that is very evident throughout the entire movie. In... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The writers looked past the opportunity of potentially displaying accurate events that could have
taken place during this time period in the South to instead focus more on subtle racist encounters.
Instead of focusing on the horrid events that occurred in Southern society, such as lynchings,
violent racial hate groups, and many other racially charged hate crimes, The Help instead focuses
more on the bright side of things ,with only peaks into the racial problems that black citizens faced
daily. During the 1960 s in Mississippi, the Freedom Movement was also happening. The Help does
not mention any historical events that took place during the time period, and instead mainly
focuses on the lives of Southern white

Growth Of Mobile Phones Essay
Despite continued dynamic growth in the South African information and communication
technology (ICT) sector, most significantly in the mobile sector, this growth has yet to meet the
national goals of affordable access for all South Africans to the full range of information and
communication services. Access to mobile voice and data continues to grow, however broadband
access (in particular fixed line broadband) remains comparatively and noticeably lower than other
lower to middle income countries. Prices of all communication services in South Africacontinue to
remain high by both global and and most noticeably, African standards.

There are now few differences, in use of basic voice and SMS services, between mobile phone
users in urban and rural areas, or between those at the top of the pyramid (ToP) and those at the
base of the pyramid (BoP). (RIA South Africa2012 Household and Individual ICT Access and Use

The increased availability of the latest smart devices at lower costs, along with some respite in
the costs of mobile data services has also sparked the rapid increase of mobile phone usage by
both personal and business users. The establishment of a mobile termination rate (MTR) by the
seemingly ineffective sector regulator, the Independent Communications Authority of South
Africa (ICASA) has gone some way to dropping mobile phone charges, but is still some way off
from making the access truly affordable and competitive by global standards. However, due to
the MTR, Telkom Mobile and Cell C, the smallest of the four main mobile operators in South
Africa have been able to put some pressure on Vodacom and MTN, leading to more competitive
packages being offered on both voice and data across all networks. This is still insignificant when
one considers that the cheapest prepaid mobile phone product is South Africa is nearly 750%
more expensive than the cheapest similar product in Africa. Despite a drop in South African voice
charges since the onset of MTR reductions, the huge drop in voice usage and upsurge in data usage

Current Legal Status Of Assisted Suicide Essay
The current legal status of assisted suicide in England and Wales is inadequate and incoherent . If
assisted suicide were legalised, strict safeguards must be in place, to avoid new legislation echoing
the uncertain law currently in place and prevent it from going down a slippery slope of potential
abuse.
1.2 Current Law on Assisted Suicide in England and Wales
Under the current law, it is an offence under Section 2 of the Suicide Act 1961 , for a person to
carry out an act, capable of encouraging or assisting the suicide or attempted suicide of another
individual with the intention of doing so/ to do so ; the maximum penalty is 14 years
imprisonment; it is triable on indictment. All forms of euthanasia, including assisted suicide are
illegal in England and Wales at present. It appears from case law and previous unsuccessful Bills
that the legal position of assisted suicide is unlikely to change in the immediate near future; this has
not stopped prosecutors from bending the rules, creating incoherent legal ... Show more content on

Previous cases governed under common law indicate there is a consistent approach with the
current legal regulation, when prosecuting assisted suicide; the factors support the previous
decisions of R v Adams , R v Cox and R v Moor , which both involved decisions motivated by
compassion and intent. The current law is that a doctor s intention must not be to end life but to
alleviate the patient s suffering. It is strictly prohibited for a doctor or nurse to assist or encourage
suicide and the policy now suggests prosecution is more likely if the suspect was acting in the
medical profession, and the victim was in their care

Analysis Of Billy Wilder s Double Indemnity
In Billy Wilder s Double Indemnity (dir. Billy Wilder, 1944), character Walter Neff (Fred
MacMurray) becomes enchanted by the seductive Phyllis Dietrichson (Barbara Stanwyck).
However, through an act of lust, Neff gets involved in a murderous scheme with Dietrichson. The
entirety of the movie is a flashback as Neff recalls his scheme. He records his guilty testimony onto
a dictation machine, which is partially overheard by his clever boss, Barton Keyes (Edward G.
Robinson). Double Indemnityis composed of several shots, scenes, and sequences that intentionally
provoke anxiety and alienation; these instances also contain elements that have a peculiar
combination of realism and oneirism. In one of the earliest scenes, Walter Neff meets... Show more

Then, in the house, the lighting becomes noticeably dim, with only a little bit of sunshine
coming in from the outside. This lighting adds to the hazy quality of the scene and the overall
oneiric atmosphere Wilder was trying to achieve. Similar to how the hazy quality adds to the
oneiric atmosphere of the shots in the Dietrichson s household, the elements of the mise en
scГЁne contribute to the realistic characteristics of the first shot. Here, the viewer is presented
with a seemingly perfect upper class neighborhood full of California Spanish houses. The
children outside are playing baseball and an ice cream truck drives by, representing the epitome
of the American Dream. The image is sharp and clear, with the light source coming from the
right. However, the lighting is practically uniform in this shot. There are several hues and colors
present in this shot, which is consistent with the realm of reality. Each frame of the camera is
busy and cluttered, and there is a great deal of movement from both the props and the actors.
However, it can also be argued that the first shot though fairly realistic is interrupted by oneiric
qualities. The first shot is equitably realistic; however, German expressionism lingers in the design
of the set, adding oneiric qualities to the shot. One of the most pivotal of German Expressionist
cinema, The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari (dir. Robert Wiene, 1920) presents distorted environments. For
example, while one would expect sidewalks and

Neil Jacobstein s Analysis
Neil Jacobstein, an AI expert who has consulted on projects for the U.S. military, GM, and Ford,
has thought of a solution for AI becoming too powerful, or superintelligent. Deep learning is a
part of AI created to help it accomplish tasks on their own. But if AI starts to learn on its own,
there is the fear of the Terminator style robot emerging down the road. As AI becomes more
powerful, there is the question of making sure we are monitoring its objectives at it understands
them, Jacobstein said. However, he did propose a solution: A control system to shut AI down. If
something does go wrong, and in most systems it occasionally does, how quickly can we get the
system back on track? That s often by having multiple redundant pathways for establishing
control, he said (Muoio). Another way we can make sure AI does not go haywire is by
programming Isaac Asimov s laws of robotics into AI. The three laws are: a robot may not injure
a human being or, through inaction, allow a human being to come to harm; a robot must obey
orders given it by human beings except where such orders would conflict with the First Law; a
robot must protect its own existence as long as such protection does not conflict with the First or
Second Law. A lot of rules can be loopholed out of, but these laws do not... Show more content on

Gender Roles in Great Expectations Essay
Gender Roles in Great Expectations
The importance of the Victorian ideal of motherhood is glimpsed in Charles Dickens s personal
life. Dickens s main complaint against his wife when he separated from her was her terrible
parenting. Around the time that his separation from his wife was being finalized, Dickens
complains of Catherine in a letter to his friend Angela Burdett Coutts: She does not and never did
care for the children; and the children do not and they never did care for her (qtd. in Slater 146).
From evidence in other letters and the seeming abruptness with which Dickens took on this point of
view, Dickens biographer Michael Slater suggests that this was something that Dickens had to get ...

From the writing on his gravestone, Pip perceives his father as square, stout, dark man, with curly
black hair (23; ch. 1). Similarly, Pip reports Mrs. Joe as having black hair and eyes (28; ch. 1).Pip
infers his mother s appearance from her gravestone as well: from the turn of the inscription ... I
drew a childish conclusion that my mother was freckled and sickly (23; ch. 1). Joe, although not
freckled, has light skin with features far more feminine than Mrs. Joe s: Joe was a fair man,
with curls of flaxen hair on each side of his smooth face, and with eyes of such a very undecided
blue (28; ch. 1). Pip s physical description of all these parent figures reveals the ambivalent gender
identities in the Gargery home. Joe s physical appearance seems more feminine, and he is much
more nurturing than Mrs. Joe, who is described in terms similar to Pip s deceased father.
Mrs. Joe is described in some masculine ways, but her behavior is the most significant indicator
of her desire not to be trapped in the traditional feminine domestic role. Mrs. Joe s emotional
distance from her family is exemplified in the apron that she wears: she almost always wore a
coarse apron ... having a square impregnable bib in front, that was stuck full of pins and needles
(28; ch. 2). Dickens use of the word impregnable evinces many non maternal associations

which sold more than million and half copies. The growth of novel reading grew rapidly towards
the end of the year 1750.The main reason for the growth of novel readers was the rapid growth of
the source of book materials such as book seller, public library and lending library. An average
person was able to obtain their reading materials from booksellers, public libraries as well
through lending libraries which were a cheaper option since they were able to rent the books for
a small fee. Due to the vast number of readers between the year 1773 and 1798 the number of
book trading companies as well as the number of public libraries grew rapidly at faster rate than the

The Life Cycle Of The Lifecycle Of A Mobile Phone
Lifecycle of a Mobile phone A product passes through different stages during its entire lifespan.
Each phase has its own characteristics which mainly defines the performance of the product
(Stark, 2015). It is these unique characteristics that mark the end of one stage and the onset of
another. The present article focused on the lifecycle of a mobile phone. The first phase of the
lifecycle of a mobile phone is referred as the introduction stage. During this phase, the mobile
phone is just a new product. The phone is in good shape with little or no defects. Its rate of power
consumption is splendid and all the safety features are functional. At this stage, the warranty for the

The final stage through which a product passes is referred as the decline stage. At this stage, the
product is approaching the end of its lifespan. The product is characterized by major defects that
include malfunctioning of batteries, broken screens, and erratic behavior of the controls and
displays (Stark, 2015). Such issues significantly impair the functioning of the product and in
most cases such functions cannot be retrieved even with the best technical support. At this stage,
the efficiency of the phone greatly declines. Moreover, such issues are very expensive to rectify.
Due to the inefficiency of the product, it is finally disposed of either by selling it to a dealer or
by withdrawing its operations. Disposal of Compact Discs (CDs) In my neighborhood, the most
commonly used method of disposal of Compact Discs (CDs) is by shredding the discs using a
shredding machine and then disposing the shredded parts into a garbage pit or a landfill. This
method is used by most people in the neighborhood as it seems to be less toxic to the environment
(Al Salem, Lettieri Baeyens, 2009). The community in which I live does not have a mechanism
through which such wastes can be recycled. Just like me, most of the people shred their waste
Compact Discs (CDs), with the exception of a few who burn while others bury them into pits. The
community does not have any facility for recycling

They Feed Lion
In poetry, one of the most powerful literary tools is the metaphor. It allows an author to add
dimension to the topic of their writing, in comparing their focus to something creative. This idea
is true for Philip Levine in his work, They Feed They Lion. The metaphor of a lion provides
additional insight into Levine s stance on the topic of his poem. In They Feed They Lion by
Philip Levine, the use of a metaphor of a lion is used to demonstrate the potential power a group of
discriminated individuals can have, once they allow all that has wronged them to motivate them to
act. This metaphor is especially topical due to its reflection of race issues that were pertinent during
the time period when Levine completed this poem. From one s first... Show more content on

Specifically, the pattern and frequency in which a lion roars. A lion roars only a few times a
day; it is not something that happens very often. Rising up and acting upon injustice is also
something that is infrequent. However, once both of these actions happen, they are difficult to
ignore and not easily forgotten. At some point, a lion must let out and roar, just as the discontent
and mistreatment of a group of people will eventually erupt into an uprising. Additionally, the
anticipation of the roar can garner a variety of different reactions, depending on the perspective
of the person. These reactions are often border lining on both fear and excitement. Similarly,
these reactions are also common when groups of people or individuals act upon their feelings of
unrest. This is evident in the tone of the poem. The quick and separated rhythm adds an
underlying feeling of tension and anxiety as the reader waits for They Lion to do more than grow.
Also the idea that Levine refers to a lion as they lion, referring to it as plural, indicates that the lion
is representative of a group of individuals. A group of individuals which looking at this poem
through a historical context, can be identified as African Americans who participated in race riots in
detroit during the

The Silent Murder Of The Unborn
The Silent Murder of the Unborn
The legal rights and availability of women to have access to abortions was decided by the
landmark case of Roe v Wade (1) (1973). In terms of how this ruling impacted our freedoms,
while it gave the birthmother a right to choose life or death for her baby; the baby s freedom,
that of the right to life, (as stated in our Declaration of Independence (2)) is totally stripped
away. Therefore, the ruling of the case Roe v Wade (1) was effective for what it set out to do,
which was to give the birthmother the right to choose what to do with her body. However, it set up
the issue of having to determine the viability of the unborn baby, and when life actually begins.
Both issues are still being redefined today.
Roe v Wade (1973) (1) involved the plaintiff, a Texas resident, Norma L. McCorvey known as Jane
Roe . In 1970 Jane Roe was pregnant with her third child and was not capable of providing the
basic necessities for her unborn baby. So, she decided to get an abortion. However, during this time
period the state of Texas did not allow abortions, with only certain exceptions such as the mother s
pregnancy due to being raped, or incest, or her life being in danger. Jane did not fit any of these
categories and was denied the right to an abortion. Lucky for Jane, she had an encounter with Sarah
Wedinggton, the prosecuting attorney, who needed a plaintiff in her case to challenge Texas anti
abortion laws. Jane agreed to be involved with the

Summary Of The Reclaiming The American Dream Report In the Reclaiming the American Dream report (AACC, 2012), seven recommendations were suggested to meet the needs of the students, as well as having a strong community college system. Hence, these recommendation address redesigning students educational experiences, reinventing institutional roles, and resetting the system to create incentives for students and institutional triumphs. Recommendation One A section of recommendation one is to increase completion rates of students earning community college credentials (certificates and associate degrees) by fifty percent by 2020. (AACC, 2012 p. 26). Although recommendation one is certainly obtainable, completing the goal by 2020 is doubtful. As an administrator, in order to see a goal this large come to manifestation, everyone has to get on the bus, and asking the same question who instead of what then, and only then will a goal this large will manifest ( Collins, 2001). However, utilizing particular strategies to accomplish the goal will help toward achieving the goal. In doing that, students would be served more effectively and more efficiently, because staff and faculty would be more intentional regarding the service rendered. Affective academic advising is an essential and sure way to promote students retention (O Banion, 1997). In addition, using strategies to construct coherent, structured pathways to complete degrees, promote transfers from community colleges to four year institutions, and to assist students ... • 13. The Importance Of Religion In Public Education Religion has always been a major societal force. Though it helped define, shape, and lead cultures as a prominent component of a well rounded education in the past, in the modern day, we have discarded religious teaching in public education in favor of progressive, accurate, practical, and provable knowledge. Most people, including educators, students, and the parental figures of students, agree that the best way to educate students is in such a manner. The issue, however surprising, still stands, and is the source of big political discourse throughout the country. Some states, and some of the political figures that drive the educational system, are in favor of continuing the in depth studies of religionin the classroom. The people in this group vary, some prefer sticking to one religion to teach as compared to many. The Knightly Herald s Olivia Godfrey presents this controversial topic in her article, titled, Why Religion Should Not Be Taught in Public Schools. In the article, Godfrey defends the idea that religion should be kept out of a public education, and that rather, religion should be left entirely in the hands of a student s life at home. Government, be it state or federal, has no place in having a say of what kind of religious education a student receives. It is a personal and familial matter that differs from person to person, culture to culture. The truth of the world is that it is actually chaotic. The truth is that it is not The Illuminati, or The Jewish Banking Conspiracy, or the Gray Alien Theory. Hitler never realized that Germany had a chance to win World War II by using the blitzkrieg tactic against all of their enemies. Another failing tactic of Hitler s was to focus on the Soviet Union instead of focusing on other countries. Hitler focused on eliminating the Soviet Union after Germany eliminated France. When Germany defeated France, Hitler made the mistake of not paying close attention to the United States. According to David Kaiser, an American historian, The Second World War confirmed the lesson of the first: that no European power had the economic resources to compete with the economic might of the United States, furnished most of the supplies for the Allied war effort against Germany and simultaneously defeated Japan as well (389). Hitler failed to realize that the United States had a greater advantage than France or the Soviet Union to defeat Germany. The United States was a simply rich country in military supplies, like tanks and airplanes that were used to put an end on Hitler s army. Hitler also wanted to eliminate the Jews and the spread of communism. Allelic Variation in BRCA Genes Could Be the Key to Understanding Familial Breast Cancer Introduction Breast cancer is an uncontrollable division of cells within the breast tissue that affects about 12% of women in their lifetime. Cancer can be caused by sporadic mutations influenced by environment or by genetic disposition. Several genes play a role in cell division: Oncogenes are responsible for directing mitosis, and tumor suppression genes prevent the expression of genes involved in cell division. Mutations that occur in either gene can lead to carcinogenic tumor growth and immortal cell lines. A quantitative allelic imbalance assay was developed to determine differences in gene expression from individual BRCA1/2 alleles. Allele specific assays quantify gene expression specific to the allele being tested. For the BRCA1 gene, two individuals homozygous for the BRCA1 c.4308T/T or BRCA1 c.4308C/C polymorphism were tested. Complementary DNA (cDNA) was created from reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction (RT PCR) using RNAs extracted from blood lymphocytes. RT PCR uses reverse transcriptase to form an RNA/cDNA heteroduplex that is then amplified by normal polymerase chain reaction techniques to produce a large quantity of cDNA. Ratios of the cDNA from the two alleles were mixed for use in real time PCR (qPCR). qPCR uses fluorescent probes that anneal to the cDNA during PCR. These probes contain a reporter and a quencher; the reporter fluoresces when separated from the quencher, allowing a computer to measure the number of cycles needed for the fluorescence to exceed background levels (cycle threshold or CT). Using the ratios of cDNAs and ∆CT, a linear regression was computed to form an allelic expression standard curve that can be used to evaluate allelic imbalance. These same methods were repeated with BRCA2 with two individuals homozygous for the BRCA2 c.3396A/A or BRCA2 c.3396G/G allele. The allelic imbalance assay developed was now used with specific single nucleotide polymorphisms in BRCA1 ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Mobile cloud computing consists of mobile devices and cloud computing offering mobile cloud environment by using a huge number of different mobile devices. Any device uses mobility such as laptops, tablets, and smart phones is considered as a mobile device. Due to the great improvement of wireless networks like 4G and the expansion of use of mobile device, many researchers are interested to provide different methods to use mobile resources for distributed processes to compute many applications in mobile cloud environment. Although the last mobile devices have improved processing power, there are some limitations in power capacity, unpredictable network conditions, and connections availability that must be considered in order to use mobile devices as resource. These dynamic changes may disconnect a mobile device from the cloud computing and then prevent applications from completion. In other words, these problems may cause a system to fault more frequently due to these changes. Therefore, in order to increase the stability of these devices, there should be a monitoring technique to tolerate system faults. In this paper, we focus on Markov Chain, which precisely collects and analyzes the information of states and proactively predicts the status of future state in order to solve the volatility and instability of mobile devices. According to Cambridge Dictionary, fake news is false stories that appear to be news, spread on the internet or using other media, usually created to influence political views or as a joke. Currently, many people are debating over the problem of fake news. For example, in the 2016 election, two candidates were chosen, Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump. As many citizens possessed different political views, some started to create posts and articles to try and change other s political opinions. As a result of this, companies were criticized for not taking measures to reduce the amount of fake news. Later, companies started to take control of their software, as it is essential to handle fake news as most people receive their information from these outlets. Although some argue that the spread of fake news is the fault of the people who create it, it should be largely the company s responsibility to control its spread; they should add algorithms to determine a post s validity. During the 2016 presidential election, Facebook was greatly disparaged for not making an attempt to counter fake news. Although Mark Zuckerberg mentioned that Facebook had no connection with the outcome of the election, some thought otherwise. For example, a man named Eric Tucker took a picture of a road filled with buses who he claimed were filled with protesters who he thought would march against Donald ... The Importance Of Human Values In Human Life Humans have a tendency to indulge in luxuries, standing in mile long lines outside retail stores in search for bigger and better devices despite already possessing everything necessary to live. This facet that historically defines our species is traced back in author Yuval Noah Harari s Sapiens: A Brief History of Humankind, which details the evolution of Homo Sapiens from being an ordinary link within the food chain to a dominating influence on the Earth s ecosystem. Harari explores the patterns in history that have evolved our mental and physical state, asserting that this evolutionary past follows one of history s few iron laws: luxuries tend to become necessities and...spawn new obligations (Harari 78 79). In other words, inessential yet desirable items can eventually become ordinary with prolonged exposure, leading to a dependency on such items and an obligation to sustain its presence in humanlife. By understanding how these tendencies evolved within history, we can learn to distinguish between our needs and desires in order to avoid becoming hostage to the luxuries that entice us. Within the book, Harari applies his law to the start of the Agricultural Revolution, where luxuries of wheat and sugar emerged and ultimately transformed into essential commodities. When wheat was initially introduced, it was only a marginal part of the human diet due to its limited abundance. Deep learning is a part of AI created to help it accomplish tasks on their own. But if AI starts to learn on its own, there is the fear of the Terminator style robot emerging down the road. As AI becomes more powerful, there is the question of making sure we are monitoring its objectives at it understands them, Jacobstein said. However, he did propose a solution: A control system to shut AI down. If something does go wrong, and in most systems it occasionally does, how quickly can we get the system back on track? That s often by having multiple redundant pathways for establishing control, he said (Muoio). Another way we can make sure AI does not go haywire is by programming Isaac Asimov s laws of robotics into AI. The three laws are: a robot may not injure a human being or, through inaction, allow a human being to come to harm; a robot must obey orders given it by human beings except where such orders would conflict with the First Law; a robot must protect its own existence as long as such protection does not conflict with the First or Second Law. Additionally, the anticipation of the roar can garner a variety of different reactions, depending on the perspective of the person. These reactions are often border lining on both fear and excitement. Similarly, these reactions are also common when groups of people or individuals act upon their feelings of unrest. This is evident in the tone of the poem. The quick and separated rhythm adds an underlying feeling of tension and anxiety as the reader waits for They Lion to do more than grow. Also the idea that Levine refers to a lion as they lion, referring to it as plural, indicates that the lion is representative of a group of individuals. A group of individuals which looking at this poem through a historical context, can be identified as African Americans who participated in race riots in detroit during the ... Computers and Society The early computer development began in the late 60 s, at that time their common use was for complex mathematical calculations, and were mostly used by government corporations. As time went on computers became widely popular, and they were being used at a personal level. The Apple Lisa Computer was the first successful personal computerwith a GUI interface which was introduced in 1983. Nowadays computers have become extremely popular, and they are being used almost everywhere. If nothing is done to address the cause of the problem, the symptoms will continue to recur and perhaps worsen with future computer use. Pransa Kanapeckas and Stasys MaciuleviДЌius in the article electromagnetic radiation at computerized workplaces from Kaunas University of Technology argue that, increasing amount of electrical equipment in our work places and at home causes increase in the presence of electrical and magnetic fields. The degree of exposure of users working with this equipment is increasing this process causes an increase in the presence of electrical and magnetic field. The effect of the exposure of electromagnetic fields (ELF) on the human body depends mainly on the frequency and magnitude (strength) of electromagnetic fields . According to Alain Delisle and Christain Lariviere in the report Musculoskeletal disorder and computer work , Workstation layout and work organization can be sources of musculoskeletal disorders. Workstation layout can, for example, force people to adopt poor posture, and/or not provide support, and work organization can, for example, limit the variations in work and lead to the adoption of prolonged static positions. Although this type of work entails a low level of muscle activation, it has been recognized that this type of muscle contraction can lead to chronic pain when maintained over long periods of work .In fact, it appears that partial obstruction of ... The Silent Murder Of The Unborn The Silent Murder of the Unborn The legal rights and availability of women to have access to abortions was decided by the landmark case of Roe v Wade (1) (1973). In terms of how this ruling impacted our freedoms, while it gave the birthmother a right to choose life or death for her baby; the baby s freedom, that of the right to life, (as stated in our Declaration of Independence (2)) is totally stripped away. Therefore, the ruling of the case Roe v Wade (1) was effective for what it set out to do, which was to give the birthmother the right to choose what to do with her body. However, it set up the issue of having to determine the viability of the unborn baby, and when life actually begins. Both issues are still being redefined today. Roe v Wade (1973) (1) involved the plaintiff, a Texas resident, Norma L. McCorvey known as Jane Roe . In 1970 Jane Roe was pregnant with her third child and was not capable of providing the basic necessities for her unborn baby. So, she decided to get an abortion. However, during this time period the state of Texas did not allow abortions, with only certain exceptions such as the mother s pregnancy due to being raped, or incest, or her life being in danger. Jane did not fit any of these categories and was denied the right to an abortion. Lucky for Jane, she had an encounter with Sarah Wedinggton, the prosecuting attorney, who needed a plaintiff in her case to challenge Texas anti abortion laws. Jane agreed to be involved with the ...
