Let us use our imagination for a brief moment to connect with these characters to better
understand what the various authors are trying to teach. As I ve illustrated below, figures from the
short stories display exceptional examples of the following lessons. First, pretend to be in a
position of loneliness. Next, imagine decision making, and how others poor decisions can provide
a cause and effect. The three lessons I learned from reading the five stories were loneliness, an
absence of love, and the importance of decision making. The first lesson I would like to

widow in Footprints screamed. In that moment of the story, she is not only struck with sadness

sexuality. The author seems to regard sex as an evil, and harps on this theme throughout the novel.
Each sexual incident which occurs in the novel is tainted with grotesquem. Different levels of the
darker side of sexuality are exposed, from perversion to flagrant displays of nudity. It serves to give
the novel a bit of a moralistic overtone.

Rhetorical Analysis On January 28th, 1986, Ronald Reagan, president of the United States, in his
speech entitled Challenger Disaster, discusses the space shuttle tragedy. He supports this claim by
first mourning the accident, then promoting NASA, tries to make sense of the disaster, and finally

My reasoning is that many forms social deviance are acts which ultimately are extremely
subjective or relative in terms of their nature. For example, saying things that are perceived as
racist in nature is widely viewed as being deviant of the social norms since they are incredibly
offensive in nature. Thus many areas even have created laws to combat such racist speech since
it defies the social order and also is said to incite people. However such deviance of social norms
(by saying racist comments) is quite relative since there are many contexts where such supposed
racist speech could be within what some would call the social norm depending on how such

Abstract Power reduction is an major challenge in the integrated circuit design since it degrades
the chip performance the reliability. Frequent transistor switching caused due to large IR voltage
drops gives raise to timing violations and logic failures. A new clock control strategy is been
introduced in this paper such that the simultaneous switching of the combinational paths is
minimized. This is achieved by clustering the delay slacks having similar slack values. Once the
paths are identified based on the path delays and their slack values the clustering algorithm
determines the path to clusters in a load balanced manner based on the slack values and each
cluster will have a phase shift possible on its clock depending on the slack.

Throughout my reflections as previously discussed I have felt under confident and lacked
experience which I feel I have developed positively. In feedback I have received from my tutor

will try and do but it has been difficult to address as we have the students for a short about of time
and a lot of work to complete. It is something I am trying to work on and will endeavour to

Growing up, those around me might have come to the conclusion that I was spoiled by my
parents. Now I agree, they help me out when needed, take me shopping every once in a while,
and make sure I don t hit rock bottom; however, I have always felt their love to be conditional.
As long as I get good grades, follow the rules, and clean my room, then I get an I am so proud of
you speech at the end of the day. My parents are very conservative, not only did I grow up in the
church, I also attended a Christian school since pre school all the way to my senior year in high
school. During those 15 years of my life, it was continually repeated to love one another, and love

Usually in my life I will experience a few negative emotions and thoughts and then briefly affirm
that what I am believing is untrue and then switch my mind to something different. I also have
journals that I will write in every once in a while, but it isn t something I use for overcoming
negative emotions. Coming from a conservative, religious family I have always heard that
meditation is bad. While Neff practices Buddhist meditation and uses some of these ideas in her
programs to teach self compassion, after listening to one of the meditation podcasts, I can see the
benefit. The meditation practices she developed helps one relax, become more self aware, and
focused on thoughts of love and compassion not only towards oneself but also towards others.
Another aspect that I had not taken into consideration is the difference between self compassion
and self esteem. As Neff explains, self esteem is basically one s perceived value and worth;
however, it is contingent on how one is compared to another. I have never looked at self esteem
being a problematic, negative term, now I understand the aspects of it that can be detrimental to
ones well being. Always striving to have high self esteem leads us to put other people down in
the process, it also insinuates that we have to be perfect and better to be worthy, which is the
opposite of what Neff s concept of self compassion entails. Our society thrives on the idea that one
has to be better than their counterpart, what we lack is this idea of self compassion. Therefore, I
think it would be very beneficial to teach self compassion in children; this may lead to an overall
more compassionate generation that flourishes on how we can help each other and ourselves
