Living Yangtze. Together with WWF, Project Living Yangtze (Living Yangtze 2012), located in
China helped 120,000 fish farmers to increase their income by approximately 30% as well as
rejuvenate the lush water foliage ( HSBC Climate Partnership 2011) during Phase 1. Phase 2 saw
the completion of the connection of 50 lakes to the Yangtze River that has since benefitted about 20
Million inhabitants near the lake. In another CSR effort, Project Climate Champions saw 2,233
employees from HSBC at one of five regional climate centers where these employees had to work
together with Earthwatch scientists to understand how climate change affects natural resources (
HSBC Climate Partnership 2011).
Although HSBC s Climate Partnership efforts have seen significant initial success, with the project
already at a close, the sustainability of this partnership is unknown. With HSBC pulling out after
their 5 year project has wrapped up, there could be issues with enforcement and compliance to the
processes put in place during the partnership. In

Unique: The hypothesis and practice of HRM has been commanded by its conceivably key part
and commitment to business achievement. There is a developing assemblage of proof for the
achievement of superior work frameworks (HPWS) in light of collaboration and representative
contribution. In any case, a great part of the exact exploration has been overwhelmed by huge
scale overviews of assembling commercial enterprises. This contextual analysis of New Zealand

Hot Tin Roof
Cat on a Hot Tin Roof starts like it ends, with drama. It is set on a plantation in Mississippi and
there is never a dull moment on the plantation. Every single character has their own distinct
personality that makes the reading of this play an exciting time. Although the personalities are fun
to read about, the difference in personalities creates drama in the house. The story is centered
around the Pollitt familyas members of the family try to convince Big Daddy to leave them the
plantation when he passes. Caton a Hot Tin Roof by Tennessee Williams is an exciting play that is
focused around the drama of a Mississippi family.
The plot of Cat on a Hot Tin Roof is a very interesting one. It all starts in the main setting of the
story, Brick ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The first Character that needs to be mentioned, Brick, is the quietest and most reserved character
in the play. Brick is a former football player and a famous announcer. (Williams 149). Brick is in
a constant battle with himself throughout the whole story. This being because he has started
drinking at all times so that he can hear a click in his head and become peaceful. The reason that
he drinks is because he feels he is responsible for his friends Skipper s death. Brick s drinking is
important to the play because it shows his disinterest in almost everything that occurs during the
book. For example, while the will of Big Daddy s is being discussed, Brick is outside on the
balcony having a drink. Gooper says to Maggie during this scene Why don t you go out there
and drink with Brick? (Williams 149). This also is important because it shows that they
characters in the play realize that Brick has no interest in anything besides his drink. Brick is an
interesting character because he is the only one who does not thrive for Big Daddy s love, yet
he is the only one who receives it. Brick can also be described as a character who is disgusted.
He is disgusted with many events in this play. Cat on a Hot Tin Roof was heralded by some as
the play in which homosexuality was at last to be presented without evasion (Bentley). This
quote by critic Eric Bentley stands true because the idea of homesexuality in the play is another
reason Brick is disgusted. He is disgusted with the world for the most part because nobody
understand that his and Skipper s relationship was not a homosexual one.He states Why can t
exceptional friendship, real, real, deep, deep friendship! between two men be respected as
something clean and decent (Williams 117). This could be a reason that he is also sort of
disgusted with women. Critic Jere Huzzard says Clearly both father and son had enjoyed a physical

Ruby Moon By Matt Cameron
Ruby Moon by Matt Cameron
The Artslink Queensland production of Ruby Moon by Matt Cameron can be described as an
example of the Australian Gothic dramatic style. Ruby Moon, set in picture perfect Flaming Tree
Grove, is about the tragic dilemma of a couple, Ray and Sylvie, trying to cope with the earlier
disappearance of their young daughter, Ruby, while on the way to visit her grandmother at the end
of the cul de sac (Queensland Education, 2014).
Matt Cameron s, Ruby Moon, is an award winning contemporary Australian playwright and
screenwriter based in Melbourne which depicts a uniquely Australian landscape; employing the
conventions of the Australian Gothic Theatrical style (Queensland TheatreCompany, 2009). In the
production of Ruby Moon, the stage setting creates dramatic meaning and purpose. Ruby Moon
is set in an Australian suburban town in picture perfect Flaming Tree Grove where Ray and
Sylvie s daughter, Ruby, disappears on her way to visit her grandma at the end of the cul de sac
(HCS, 2014). The intimacy and secrecy of the Flaming Tree Grove community and its lack of
safety adds to the supernatural and paranormal intrusions of Australian Gothic Theatre. The Ruby
Moon production was fuelled and inspired by fairy tales such as Little Red Riding Hood, Snow
White, Hansel and Gretel, and Alice in Wonderland, and also newspaper headings and stories about
families and their missing children scattered around the world. Matt Cameron s purpose of the

My Local History Project On Dowagiac
Dowagiac Michigan History
I choose to do my local history project on Dowagiac, Michigan which is a part of Cass County. I
visited Dowagiac History Museum that has three floors to venture in and 6,000 square feet of
exhibits of Dowagiac, Cass County, and Sister Lakes. The price was free admission, and I got lost
in history for well over an hour. I learned a great deal about the geography, the original settlers,
economic factors, religion, ethnicity, and other interesting facts. I did conduct additional
information online research along with the information I received from Dowagiac History Museum.
GEOGRAPHY
Like most rural areas in Michigan, agriculture industry had a major impact on Cass County and the
Sister Lakes region. Cass County ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Leopold Pokagon, an Ojibwe/Odawa saw many of his villagers convert to Christianity and did
not wish to leave the area. Pokagan signed a treaty of Chicago 1833 that he and his villagers

to land, they were except from removal. Pokagon would lead his village to death in 1841.His
legacy remains in Pokagon band in Cass County today because of Pokagon s efforts. (Dowagiac
History Museum,2017)
Sister Lakes
Sister Lakes is in southwestern Michigan and boarders with Dowagiac. It is big tourist
attraction during the summer month with people vacationing from their busy city life in
Chicago and coming back to enjoy their vacation homes on the lake. Sister lakes has 10 lakes all
within 5 6 mile radius. The lakes include Magician Lake, Dewey Lake, Big Crooked Lake, Little

Lakes Brewing Company, and soon to open this summer Sister Lakes The Stand a microbrewery.
ECONOMICS FACTORS
Small villages, such as Cassopolis, had begun developing in Cass County in the 1830 s and early
1840 s but the area needed the railroad for true growth to occur. The railroad enabled raw materials
for manufacturing to be shipped in, products and farm goods to be shipped in and out. Also,

Theme Of Belonging In The China Coin
Belonging is defined as acceptance and interconnection within social, cultural, historical and
personal contexts of the wider community. Experience, identity and connecting can enrich an
individual s sense of belonging. However language, memories and experience can act as a barrier
to a sense of belonging. This is explored in the text, The China Coin by Allan Baillie, through Leah
s fluctuating sense of belonging towards her Chinese identity and her mother. Similarly, in the
article A sacrificed shoulder, a loyalty pledged beyond words by Alice Pung, the persona s parents
lack of knowledge of Australian language, culture and history strengthens their Chinese identity.
Furthermore, this idea is also demonstrated in the poems Feliks... Show more content on

This is explored in the poem Postcard where persona changes his attitude from I never Knew you
to intrinsic desire We will meet before we die . Through the persona s altering the use of
personal pronoun from I to We portrays eventually persona was attracted to Warsaw and decides
to visit sooner or later to experience his connection with his motherland, thus he accepted his
polish identity to experience his sense of belonging to his polish community. Moreover, A
sacrifices shoulder loyalty pledged beyond words exemplifies this idea through the use of
assonance, I was lucky enough...to be born here depicts the persona was born and brought up in
the Australian community. The Australian cultural and religion, education gradually helped her to
accept her Australian identity, hence, creating a sense of belonging to the Australian community.
Similarly, in The China Coin in the beginning Leah reflects, before the coin, the Chinese were
them but as a result of her self conscious attitude and desire to fit in she thinks She looks like me,
The same size as me, the same smile as me. I could be her . The use of self reflection and sibilance
creates emphasis that Leah independently concluded that she has an inextricable bond to China and
the two halves of her heritage. These texts depict through the acceptance of one s identity an

The Role Of International Monetary Fund And The World Bank...
Introduction
Considering the international organizations all could be a complex function in terms of the World
problems. This essay discusses the role of the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank
positions in the World life. The essay will reflects the two organizations purposes, also provide an
inside to the operation system, decision making, structure and shows some example for the failure
or success of the institutions.
Finding
International Monetary Fund (IMF) aims to maintain and defeat and sometimes to restrain the
financial crises. (BBC, 2012) Basically it was created to avoid another Great Depression with an
economical cooperation. It was founded more than 60 years ago at the end of the II World War.

world. Nowadays there are few purposes of the IMF such as monetary stability, exchange rate
stability, facilitate trade, help their members with balance the payment difficulties and also to help
with the poverty reduction. (International Monetary Fund, 2015)

Hand Hygiene In Health Care
Hand hygiene is the simplest way, but the most important way to control infection (Di Muzio,
Cammilletti, Petrelli, Di Simone, 2015). This simple activity can protect patients and healthcare
workers (HCW) from infection. Healthcare workers including nursing staffs in the hospital keep
washing their hands with soap and water or with sanitizer when they are in and out of patient s
room. Even though all healthcare workers acknowledge the importance of hand hygiene in patient
care, the hospital acquired infections are still growing and cause multi drug resistant pathogen
infection as well (World HealthOrganization, 2009). Guideline of hand hygiene in health care,
provided by the World Health Organization (WHO) addressed a healthcare associated infection
(HACI) is the global problem especially in developing countries (World Health Organization,
2009). In addition, the guideline revealed health care workers mostly spread the gems such as

setting (World Health... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As stated above, many studies applied Orem s theory to various nursing disciplines and many books
were published to test and explain the theory. This theory also has high congruency with nursing
intervention. Again several empirical studies presented the successful application of the theory to
the various nursing intervention, and as reviewed, it will be applied to the basic nursing
intervention, hand hygiene.
As discussed above, self awareness of proper hand hygiene by the health care workers and
patients/caregivers and promoting good hand hygiene for discharge patient/ caregiver can be a
good example of Orem s self care theory. As a healthcare professional, a nurse should promote
patients proper hand hygiene and need good compliance of hand hygiene themselves. It can reduce
further HACI; preventable diseases; and help to promote patient s quality of

Asbestos And Its Effects On Society
Asbestos is a small set of minerals that occur naturally in the environment. These minerals are
silicate compounds, which means they contain silicon and oxygen; they form as groups of fibers
that can easily be separated. These fibers are very durable, as they show a strong resistance to many
common chemicals, heat and electricity. This made asbestosappear be a useful chemical for products
used in a wide range of industries, so much that the United States military mandated its use in its
branches. Since the industrial revolution, asbestos has been used to insulate factories, schools,
homes, ships, to make automobile brake and clutch parts, roofing shingles, ceiling and floor tiles,
cement, textiles, and hundreds of other products.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Approximately 90 percent of the asbestos used commercially in the world is chrysotile.
Amphibole asbestos includes the minerals actinolite, tremolite, anthophyllite, crocidolite, and
amosite. These minerals have weaker, straight, needle like fibers that make them more limited
in their ability to be fabricated. Amosite asbestos is primarily sourced in South Africa, it is
considered to be more toxic than chrysotile, and was most commonly used in construction
products. It was at one time the second most commonly used form of asbestos. Crocidolite,
which is known as blue asbestos, once made up about four percent of all asbestos used in the
United States. This blue asbestos is extremely thin, and harder and more brittle than other types,
which causes it to break easily and release dangerous needle like fibers that can be easily inhaled.
This made it to be the most harmful form of asbestos by far, and it was often used as a
reinforcement material for plastics and for making ropes. Actinolite asbestos was often used to
make insulation and construction materials such as drywall and paint, although it is very rare, and
usually found in metamorphic rocks. Chrysotile asbestos was the most widely used form in the
world. It is estimated that about 90 95 percent of all asbestos that remains in buildings in the U.S.
and Canada is of this variety. Chrysotile was used heavily in fireproofing and in insulation products.

Essay on Analaysis of the American Way
No matter how liberty and freedom are defined, America and its people have always prided itself
on being founded on their principles. Looking back at the founding of America , slavery, Civil War,
emancipation, reconstruction, and the times following all the way through today I would say
everyone should ask, is liberty truly the American Way?
Since I have not yet taken American History 1, I had to look outside this week s readings to review
the Monroe Doctrine and Manifest Destiny that lead to some of the attitudes and events covered. In
1823 in the Monroe Doctrine, America essentially told Europe and other powers in the eastern
hemisphere hands off the western hemisphere. Lands in the western hemisphere would either

These problems with people and the suppression of freedom were not confined to the frontier but
the south and north as well.
In the south, African Americans were technically free but the 1896 case of Plessey vs. Ferguson
established legal segregation. Worse than segregation were the lynchings. In 1898, Ida B. Wells
Barnett wrote, Mr. President , the colored citizens of this country in general, and Chicago in
particular, desire to respectfully urge that some action be taken by you the chief magistrate of this
great nation........For nearly twenty years lynching crimes, which stand side by side with Armenian
and Cuban outrages, have been committed and permitted by this Christian nation. (Wells Barnett)
The north was plagued with discrimination against Slavic and Italian immigrants. While American
born citizens moved into management and skilled labor jobs new immigrants were given less
skilled work many times based on discrimination rather than qualifications.
Both the racism already prevalent in American and nationalism led America to not only seeking to
expand in the west but overseas. As with Manifest Destiny Americans felt the obligation to right the
wrongs of not just on this continent but in world and the western hemisphere in particular.
Governor Teddy Roosevelt in an excerpt from The Strenuous Life said, I wish to preach not the
doctrine of ignoble ease but the doctrine of the

Dotus Variation Lab Report
Introduction
For the past few weeks in Biology 107, the class has been touching on the subject of evolution and
how it is brought about through various processes. Evolution is a concept that has been researched
extensively for over a century now and continues to bring interesting findings day after day.
According to the Hardy Weinberg law (a principle that contributes to the understanding of evolution
) first introduced by Godfrey Hardy and Wilhelm Weinberg states that there are five possible agents
of evolutionary change, including: natural selection, genetic drift, mutations, gene flow, and
nonrandom mating. Nonetheless, the mechanism of interest for this particular lab is natural
selection. According to Mader, Natural Selection is the mechanism, ... Show more content on

Although this is only one case the results all seem to give a reasonable explanation to how this
simulation can be applied in natural environments. It is logical to assume that the phenotypes
(colors) that stand out in the environment (map) will most likely be the ones selected (eaten) by
predators. For example, in this experiment the phenotypes subjected to positive selection
pressure for the most part were dark colored dots or dots that were better blended into the
environment, more specifically the green and clear colors who most likely blended with the
grasses or trees. The phenotypes that were subjected to negative selection pressure were much of
the bright colored dots that stood out in the environment, more specifically the hot pink, orange,
and yellow colors. Furthermore, there are many similar documented cases and scenarios that go
to show that these types of results are likely in the wild. One example is that of the tadpole fish
who alter their body symmetry (the way they look) in response to predators. According to Herzog,
Rabus, Ribeiro and Laforsch (coauthors of Inducible Defenses with a Twist : Daphnia barbata
Abandons Bilateral Symmytry in Response to an Ancient Predator, ) the body torsion likely
contributes to the increased survival rate of Triops induced D.barbata. These two examples,
although not even a fraction of experiments performed, show strong evidence of the effects

Exoplanets Research Paper

Exoplanets
An exoplanet can be defined as a planet that orbits a star outside the solar system. One of the
many exoplanets that could possibly be habitable in the near future are far away. For example,
Kepler 186 is around 500 light years aways to put that in perspective that is around
5,878,625,373,183.607731 Miles away. That is why we know so little about these planets that
could support life on them.
Starting off, what is some of the criteria that is needed to live on a planet. The University of Utah
put it best when they described what is needed. One of the most basic needs to live on a different
planet is they need to be a comfortable distance away from their star that is ... Show more content
on Helpwriting.net ...
First off, the most common way to find new planets is Radial Velocity. The Radial Velocity
method relies on the fact that a star does not remain completely stationary when it is orbited by a
planet. It moves, ever so slightly, in a small circle or ellipse, responding to the gravitational tug of
its smaller companion. When viewed from a distance, these slight movements affect the star s
normal light spectrum, or color signature. If the star is moving towards the observer, then its
spectrum would appear slightly shifted towards the blue; if it is moving away, it will be shifted
towards the red. Secondly, Transit Photometry is the second most common method. This method
detects distant planets by measuring the minute dimming of a star as an orbiting planet passes
between it and the Earth. The passage of a planet between a star and the Earth is called a transit. If
such a dimming is detected at regular intervals and lasts a fixed length of time, then it is very
probable that a planet is orbiting the star and passing in front of it once every orbital period.
Lastly, the method of Microlensing is Microlensing is the only known method capable of
discovering planets at truly great distances from the Earth. Whereas radial velocity searches look
for planets in our immediate galactic neighborhood, up to 100 light years from Earth, and transit
photometry can potentially detect planets at a distance of hundreds of light years, microlensing can
find planets orbiting stars near the center of the galaxy, thousands of light years away ( How to
Search for Exoplanet.). These methods are detrimental to the discovery of new planets from far

Browning Primary Sources
Historians believe they need to find the truth. They make arguments, write papers, and give lecture
on what they are saying is the truth. Historians want to learn what happened. This is important,
because history teaches many lessons. Students of history agree or disagree with historian s
arguments and what they say happened or what is the cause of some event. The best historians are
the ones who write the strongest arguments. To make strong arguments, it s very important to use
strong sources. Sources are either primary or secondary. The primary sources are the original ones,
which date back to the events of that time period. Secondary sources are the arguments of other
historians or anything that talks about primary sources. Choosing the best sources means
understanding what the source is saying and using accurate information to make your own
argument. When historians feel that the existing work fails to mention or inaccurately claims
something that s important. to the historian, they write their own argument. The historian wants to

simple questions; for example what are the challenges from buying healthy food? or What is
stopping you from buying or eating healthy food and products? etc. While we conducting the

When we start interviewing people with long questions, lots of people tented to hesitate on
answering, some even walk away after the first question. After we change our strategy and

Gambling In The Gambler
Gambling and the unpredictability of the roulette wheel stand at the center of Fyodor Dostoevsky
s The Gambler. Despite the fact that it is not a very rational activity, gambling captures the
enthusiasms of many in The Gambler, enthralling those characters that are intoxicated by the
feelings of victory. Experienced gamblers often work out strategies to ensure success, or at least a
greater chance of success. Unfortunately, these types of patterns and strategies simply do not apply
in games of chance like roulette. As Jeff Love describes, there is not a fixed constant or indubitable
ground permitting a deductive determination of the results of each turn of the wheel in the game of
roulette (Love 373). Put more simply, roulette is a game of... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Alexei argues that in roulette, there is not a strict order, [but] at least a certain pattern (40). As
this passage shows, Alexei craves control, but simply cannot have it in a game like roulette. The
simple reality is that the outcomes of roulette are completely random. There is no pattern or
order, but simply an erratic variety of different numbers. Alexei s desire to challenge Fate is
highly indicative of how badly he wants to control the truly uncontrollable (40). Just like in his
relationships, Alexei cannot steer the path of the game of roulette in the direction of his choice.
Alexei s inability to control the game of roulette is what ultimately drives him to become
addicted and admit that he is a gambler (102). Alexei s desire to discover some sort of pattern or
strategy is indicative of his desperation to prove his abilities as a gambler. Alexei cannot fathom
that there is no pattern or order that will help him understand the game better. He simply has to
leave the game up to chance, which propels him to a fairly destructive obsession with the game.
Unfortunately for Alexei, the outcome of roulette is out of his direct control, which further proves
that like the roulette wheel, most parts of Alexei s life are completely

Department Of Nutrition Essay
Our democracy is built off a system of separation of powers, however sometimes those powers get
more tied together than they are supposed to be. President Pisapia s new Department of Nutrition
has brought these branches together, involving party partisanship. Pisapia and the National Party
are supporters of this Department, competing against the American Party. This Department led to a
close battle in the Court, but it is eventually declared legal. However, now that the American Party
has come into power in the House, the path for the Department of Nutrition is unclear. This
situation is mainly driven by the parties divide over the matter. The Department of Nutrition sounds

This also reflects on the congressmen of the National Party. They were in favor of a more
radical Department that would increase the role of the government in people s lives. As David
Mayhew, in Congress: The Electoral Connection, says, probably the best position taking strategy
for most congressmen at most times is to be conservative to cling to their own positions of the
past where possible and to reach for new ones with great caution where necessary (Congress: The
Electoral Connection). Because these congressmen took such stark stances on the matter, it made
them stand out and they became easily desired to be replaced. This led to a take over the House
by the American Party, reflecting the change in the will of the people. Not only is this issue a
polarizing subject within the House, but also within the Court. The creation of the Department was
ruled legal by the Court, however it can also be seen as unconstitutional. The Court ruled in favor
of the creation of this department with a 5 4 vote, calling that it was stated under the First Article.
A 5 4 vote is a close vote, and it is not surprising the judges aligned with their party. The judges that
were nominated by National Party were the ones that held up the law, and the American Party voted
against it. The ruling on this department depends on how

In the book, the concept of constraint is clearly explained by an example. Alex takes a group of
boy scouts on an overnight hike. The slowest boy in the group, Herbie, exemplifies all the
characteristics of a constraint. Because he is very slow, it becomes very difficult for Alex to
keep the boys in line. Boys in front of Herbie hike faster than the other boys. Herbie being a
constraint causes large gaps between the boys in the line. This hiking trip helps Alex discover
some simple processes. He uses his findings to turn his plant in the right direction. This example
also explains the concepts of dependable events and statistical fluctuations. Statistical fluctuations
imply that most of the factors critical to running a plant successfully cannot be determined
precisely ahead of time. In a system with dependable events, like an assembly line in a plant, if a
process lags behind all the process slows down. This explains the high level of inventories piled up
in front of the NCX 10 machine and the heat treat in his plant. Although a non bottleneck process
can produce at full capacity, throughput of the whole system will depend on the capacity of the
bottleneck processes of the system. If bottleneck processes lag behind the non bottleneck processes
then higher work in process and excess inventories will pile up. He finds that the throughput of the

A Brief Analysis Of My Organization s Sharepoint Team

will bring together different information that has been composed within my MGMT 581 Team
Building class. The purpose of this analysis is to determine my organizations readiness to support
team work. Also, a SharePoint team improvement plan will be included.
Team Analysis
In an earlier assignment I created a Team Analysis. The team analysis was composed around my
current SharePoint team within Salt River Project (SRP). The SharePoint Team is a self managing
team. My Team consists of two SharePoint developers, two SharePoint administrators, two
SharePoint supporters, and a college intern. I am a SharePoint ... Show more content on

Knowledge, Skills, Attitude
The SharePoint team is well rounded in knowledge and skills. We have entry level positions
covered with our intern, all the way to extremely technical positions such as our developers.
Motivation and Effort
SRP has an implemented bonus system which is called EPIC. The manager sets the team EPIC
around high level goals for the year. These goals are usually created around the successful
completion of known projects needing completion. If my goals are attained by the dates
specified, I am awarded an EPIC bonus. My EPIC bonus is usually awarded at 1 percent of my
salary for each goal attained. Team members are very motivated to obtain their EPIC, and I have
noticed this to be consistent with others as well.
Coordination Strategies
The separated skill sets create an environment that does not need much in the coordination strategy
area. My team knows exactly who is responsible for each task as soon as a requirement is stated.
However, the problem we have currently is a couple of individuals are consistently handled a larger
percentage of the work. The largest complaint around our current planning and task structure is that
it is unequal between team members. I am an administrator and have noticed the unequal load.
Team members with knowledge tend to become the go to personnel to assist others their tasks.
Team Performance
The SharePoint Team is responsible for the SharePoint software and

Architecture During The Renaissance
The fifteenth and sixteenth century is a period of transition between the Medieval Ages and the
Modern Times. This period, called the Renaissance, had manifested itself in Italy. This movement,
which would have its repercussion in France, Spain, England, Germany, Switzerland, is
characterized by a series of political, economic, social and intellectual changes.
The Renaissance was a very important era for architecture because during the Renaissance,
architecture became so much more than just buildings. It was created because the Medieval Ages
was such a dark, depressing time. The people who lived in that area needed change. Architecture
played a vital role in Renaissance and the changes that happened. Without the changes of
architecture that happened during the Renaissance, it wouldn t be anything like what it is today.
What led to the Renaissance was, the Byzantine Empire had long since decayed. The beginnings of
the crisis go back to the capture of Constantinople by the crusaders in 1204. The Latin barons
ruined the city which never got up completely from this looting. In addition, the gap between the
rich and the poor was widening as state resources dwindled dangerously. Unable to defend his own
frontiers, the emperor had to buy peace from other sovereigns. He had to resolve to entrust the army
to mercenaries. Soon the Turks threatened the city. Besieged from 1394 to 1402, Constantinople
was miraculously saved by the Mongol invasion of Tamerlane. The respite was to fall short. The
advent of an energetic Sultan, Mehmet II, at the head of the Turkish army, precipitated the
denouement. In 1453, a powerful Ottoman army moved under the walls of the city. Constantinople
finally falls under the pressure of janissaries. The fall of Constantinople, apparently, did not upset
the West: the Christian sovereigns left the old Eastern Empire. However, this event had important
consequences for the countries of Europe. Many Byzantine prelates, artists and men of science fled
to the West, including Italy. They brought their knowledge, their ideas and their libraries of ancient
manuscripts. Italian scientists and artists took advantage of the knowledge accumulated in the East.
They exerted a real pressure on the architects

Virtually every working person I ve ever come across believes in teamwork. At least they say they

end up creating environments where political infighting and departmental serenity are the norm.
And yet they continue to flaunt their belief in teamwork, as if that alone will somehow make it
magically appear. I think that only a small minority of companies truly understand and embrace
teamwork, even though, more than one in three of the Fortune 500 publicly declares it to be a core
value.
I would like to start by asking a question What is a TEAM?

ABSTRACT
Watermarking is the process of embedding new data into image, audio or video. Digital
Watermarking technique is used to hide a secret or personal message to protect a products copyright
or to demonstrate data integrity. To provide double protection, after the watermarking process, the
watermarked image tends to go through an encryption process using CHAKRA symmetry key
encryption algorithm which encrypts the data with the concepts of Cartesian coordinate geometry
and circle generation. In this paper, we perform watermarking on different types of images like
BMP, JPEGetc.., and the input image is pre processed and converted into JPEG LS format which
contains enhanced quality.

The Pros And Cons Of Mncs In Vietnam
Since the 1986 economic reforms, the growth of Vietnam has been characterized by a tremendously
increase in international trade and an inflow of foreign direct investment. The improvement of
various multinational corporations has assumed a significant part in Vietnam economy throughout
the previous thirty years. These group of companies use cross border parent subsidiary

My Life Has Changed My Outlook On Life
It happened a year ago this past October, and I can still remember every little detail of it. My life
literally got turned upside down; I was in a car accident. As traumatic as the accident was it
changed my outlook on life in a positive way, however, I wish it did not have to come down to
that in order for me to figure things out. It made me realizehow things could change in an instant
and that all those things you never thought could happen to you actually can. But I also realized
how much I love life. Life and all the good and bad things in it are a gift that we should not take
for granted.
It was a typical Saturday night in October, Halloween was just around the corner. Three friends
and I were headed to a corn maze. It was supposed to be a fun night, until we turned onto a dirt
road and in an instant everything changed. The driver hit a washboard patch on the road and lost
control of the car. I felt the car jerk left and right and looked up from the backseat at the driver.
Her hands were tight on the steering wheel turning it left and right trying to regain control of the
car. We were sliding and I felt the car drop off the road. I closed my eyes tight afraid to witness
what was about to happen next.
It is amazing all the things you can see with your eyes closed. We rolled three times and all
though it all happened so fast it seemed like it was never going to end. I felt like a doll being
thrown around with no control over my body. I could only try to process what

a family as a whole. Together these findings show that perhaps these beauty pageants should not
be something that a child should participate in, or be forced into participating in. Keywords:

was the Little Miss America Pageant which took place in the 1960 s in New Jersey. Originally
participation in these pageants was intended to be for young girls between the ages of 13 and 17.
Since then these pageants had a steady following. Pageants aren t the dress up play we knew as
little girls, they are a multi billion dollar industry. (Cartwright, 2011) However, over the past few

as Toddlers and Tiaras. Shows like this have the purpose and goal of glamorizing

Marvel s Influence On Morals
Aaron Jeu Instructor Acevedo English 100 23 July 2015 Superheroes Influence on Morals Often
times, one may observe that any young child s piece of clothing or backpack is plastered with the
face of some known or unknown superhero portrayed in popular culture, on television and in the
movies. These superheroes are found throughout American society. Because superheroes are
growing more popular amongst mass marketing for motion pictures and their merchandise is
constantly targeting children and young adults, these iconic figures have been assimilated into
American culture. Through the years, the infiltration of superheroes have become one with the
everyday lives of young individuals as they are used to have a positive influence on society s...

On the surface level, children are able to learn and determine these behaviors in a black and
white manner. As a child matures, it is necessary for an adult, an educator, or a parent to come
into play to properly foster and edify the child s moral understanding. These depictions of
superheroes fighting crime in itself are not detrimental to society on its own. It is the
interpretation of what goes on through the form of entertainment and its long term effects that it
has on an individual if misconceived. Others may beg to differ and advocate that such examples
of violent or aggressive behaviors through video games (Call of Duty, Grand Theft Auto,
Destiny, etc.) are destructive and immoral influences on individuals. While it is case by case for
every individual, Gerard Jones, writer for Marvel Comics and many other comic book publishers,
asserts that exposure to violent media does have its positive impacts on an individual s morals and
well being. In his essay, Violent Media Is Good for Kids, Jones recounts his experience as a child
being walled between the crudest elements of American pop culture because his parents taught him
that rage was something to be overcome and cooperation and cooperation

My First Lesson On The Battle Of Lexington And Concord
This week I only attended three days for block teaching. Monday was Columbus Day so the
school was closed and everyone had the day off. Friday I did not attend because it was fall break
for WIU so I decided to go home for the weekend. On Tuesday the students worked on Cornell
notes for several headings in their textbook. Then on Wednesday I taught my first lessonon the
battles of Lexington and Concord. The students analyzed two primary source documents then as
a class we discussed their similarities and differences. The lesson went well despite the fact that
two thirds of the class was missing due to state testing. The fact that majority of the class made
me worried for the lesson I prepared for the following day because the two lessons were designed
to match up. However, I was pleasantly surprised that Thursday s lesson went as smoothly as it
did. The students stayed on task and were focused so I did not have really any issues with
classroom management. Since this week was short and I taught two out of the three days I was
present my teacher didn t have much involvement with his class. On Thursday when one student
was getting a big rowdy before class due to an argument my mentor pulled him into the hallway to
address the situation. I believe my best classroom management skills were displayed during my
Wednesday lesson. Due to majority of the class being missing I got the vibe that the students who
were present thought of it as a free day. I had one student who decided

Religious And Political Conflicts In Dante s Inferno
The 14th century is marked by various religious and political conflicts. Specifically, Italy
experienced major civil discord as emperors, popes, and elite families sought governmental control.
It is within these tense times that Dante lived and wrote his poetic masterpiece, Commedia.
Although little is known for certain about Dante, scholars believe he was born in 1265 and lived in
Florencefor the majority of his adult life. While Dante was by no means poor, his family was not
wealthy enough to achieve elite status, so he became involved with politics. In 1302, Dante was
exiled from Florence for numerous reasons, including political complicity and opposition to the
pope, resulting in him traveling throughout various Italian towns until... Show more content on

Passing through the Hellgate and the surrounding area, which was an ante inferno to torment
people who were neither good nor evil, Dante and Virgil come upon the Acheron River where
the boatman Charon ferries souls into Hell. Dante uses the Greek figure Charon to represent the
14th century religious belief that St. Peter held the keys to Heaven. When Charon questions
Dante and Virgil s mission into Hell, Virgil tells him that God has willed it, and Charon steps
aside and allows Dante and Virgil to enter the boat. Just as Charon acted as chauffer between one
world and the next, Christians at this time believed St. Peter held the keys to Heaven and
moderated who entered. Dante draws on both of these perspectives when describing the people
who were not accepted by either Heaven or Hell because they were neither good nor evil. Just as
Charon can refuse neutral souls from entering Hell, St. Peter can prevent lukewarm Christians from
entering Heaven. By creating an ante inferno area where in between souls experience constant
agony and torture, such as being attacked by insects and eaten by worms, Dante encourages people
to choose either salvation or sin, but not live heretical lives. The linking of Charon and St. Peter,
especially regarding neutral believers, demonstrates that although there may be some gray areas,
like the ante inferno,

Napoleon And Illya s Fighting Analysis
For this media fight analysis, I will be studying Napoleon Solo and Illya Kuryakin from the 1960
s television series, The Man from U.N.C.L.E. In addition to fighting with guns and a myriad of
other weapons, Napoleon and Illya primarily use hand to hand combat against their opponents
stemming from traditional boxing and Judo. The primary goal for their methods of fighting is to
subdue their opponents instead of causing great injury or death. When death does occur, it is
usually in the form of self defense, necessity, or the opponent is killed by an error in their own
weapons, like poison or killer bees.
Napoleon s and Illya s fighting style is a blend between traditional boxing and Judo. Known for
mostly using punches and evasive footwork instead of an emphasis on kicking, boxing has
evolved dramatically over history. Historians have found evidence that the earliest form of boxing
was created in 4000 BCE in North Africa, spreading to Greece and Rome as a spectator sport. In
1681, boxing was first documented in Britain, and it was in 1743 when there were actual rules to
prevent deaths in the sport. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Napoleon and Illya are clearly trained to fight, disarm, and possibly kill their opponents if
necessary. They do not go for the kill right away because it is their goal to apprehend the enemy
and bring them to justice. Their fighting style shows that they are able to defend and attack, but it
also shows that they are not perfect in their execution. In some cases, Napoleon and Illya make
mistakes in their fighting which end with them being captured or having an opponent escape to
make an appearance later in the series. Sometimes the two spies are paired up with bigger and
stronger opponents, forcing them to adjust their moves to achieve their goals and evoke sympathy
from the audience, who root for the charming, underdog

The Satellite Television Provider, Directv
In the world today, commercials are one of the basic essentials for a product s success. The satellite
television provider, DirecTV uses commercials as means to succeed. DirecTV commercials are
known to target a male audience. In this particular commercial they specifically targets manly men.
The commercial starts off introducing Peyton Manningand Really High Voice Manning. Peyton
Manning owns DirecTV, has a deep voice, and wears a dark sharp suit. Whereas Really High
Voice Manning does not own DirecTV, has a high voice, and wears wrinkled khakis with a white
and yellow striped polo. The commercial further shows each of their lifestyles with and without
DirecTV. Peyton Manning is seen watching the footballgames through his mobile phone. He
watches in a locker room before a game and on his team bus. On the contrary Really High Voice
Manning is part of a singing barbershop quartet and watches the football games from the gym
locker. The commercial ends with Peyton Manning saying not to be like Really High Voice
Manning and to get DirecTV. Overall, DirecTV approaches an appeal to ethos by using Peyton
Manning s sense of credibility, manliness, and lifestyle to attract their male audience. One of the
appeals towards ethos is Peyton Manning s sense of credibility. Peyton Manning is part of the
NFL, National Football League. He holds a celebrity status among the sports world. Using a

Why Did Gondwana Occur In Australia
As it is the oldest of the continents, Australia is often referred to as an ancient land. However, it
didn t always have its current shape, as it was once a part of a super continent called Pangaea.
This was until it separated and drifted across the Earth s surface, causing a variety of climate
changes and other geological events.
Around 300 million years ago, Pangea existed during the late Paleozoic and early Mesozoic eras
and approximately 120 million years ago, Pangea split into two smaller sections called Gondwana
and Laurasia. Gondwana formed prior to Pangea , and later on became part of it. However, after
the break up of Pangaea, Gondwana possessed most of the regions in today s Southern Hemisphere,
including Australia, Africa, Antarctica and South America. Similarly, around 180 million years ago,
Gondwana also began to split up. Africa and South America beginning to drift away, leaving just
India, Madagascar, Antarctica and Australia and about 40 million years later, India and Madagascar
broke off. Leaving just Antarctica and Australia. Correspondingly, approximately 85 million years
ago Australia separated from Antarctica, finally becoming its own continent. ... Show more content

Essay on Analysis of Halloween Film Trailer
Analysis of Halloween Film Trailer
I have decided to look at a trailer that was filmed in 1978 called Halloween directed by John
Carpenter. The purpose of the trailer is to tease the audience into wanting to see the film but also to
identify genre through conventions and create opinions in the audiences mind. The genre of my
trailer is cross generic horror; appealing to a wide target audience. The horror genre is represented
through the scenes involving blood and violence.
Conventions of the trailer include the length, use of settings, characters, music, sound effects, and
colours. The settings of an isolated house, in the dark on Halloween night are conventional of the
horror genre as they ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The trailer is introduced by zooming in on a house; this creates tension and shows the significance
of the house. Furthermore the white coloured house is a representation of innocence, the black
background behind it, draws attention to the house and reiterates its significance, the narrator
quotes, He s come home , also representing its significance.
Later on in the trailer we are seeing what s happening through the eyes of the villain, this is a very
long, in time, shot of the same view through a mask, which is not typical of a horror trailer but
works, as it is consistently scary.
The straight cut to a doctor talking is to represent a professional opinion, adding to character
development as a stereotypical doctor represents a trustworthy character for the audience. The
character introduced as the main victim is a young, attractive girl, who is a babysitter this is a
representation of innocence also following the conventional children in jeopardy scenario creating
tension and fear for the audience.
The trailer shows realism through the settings, characters and music. The settings is in a
stereotypically little, small populated village. The sound effects of screaming represent realism as
they show real fear and emotion.
Iconography is use throughout the trailer to identify certain things. The use of the pumpkin seen
next to the title represents

Greek Influence On Modern Day Heroes
Ancient heroes are important to our understanding of modern heroes because they helped shape
our heroes today. This can be seen because Cesar Chavez also completed hero tasks that were
done in ancient times. This can also be seen because our modern day heroes reflect back to the
ancient ones for a example. The ancient heroes help show what modern days herowould be like. If
our ancient heroes helped shape our modern day heroes than it is possible that our modern day
heroes will affect the heroes that have yet to come. Heroes stand up for what they believe in.

Wendell Ford Informational Piece
Wendell Ford Informational Piece Wendell Ford was born on September 8, 1924 in Daviess
County, Kentucky, and, after graduating from Daviess County High School in 1942, attended the
University of Kentucky. Two years later, Ford enlisted in the army and served for two years
before his honorable discharge in the summer of 1946 and continued to serve in the National
Guard until 1962 (Quisenberry). He married Jean Neel on September 18, 1943; he has two children
and five grandchildren (Kentucky). In 1965 Ford ran for the state senate edging out a win by only
305 votes. In this, his only state senate term, he introduced twenty two pieces of legislation that
were ratified and became laws. Two years later Ford became Lt. Governor and in 1971 went on to
serve as Kentucky s 49th governor (Cross). As governor, Wendell Ford created a budget surplus by
passing a severance tax on coal, a two cent per gallon tax on gasoline, and an increase in the
corporate tax rate. He used this surplus to remove the state sales tax on food, implement several
construction projects, sharply increase funding for higher education, and local public schools. With
the large budget surplus, Ford proposed several construction projects and sharply increased funding
for higher education, the public schools, and human resources (Regional Training Center). By
reorganizing and combining several executive departments, he created super cabinets, Ford saving
the state more money and making the state government more

Analysis Of The Movie The Englishman s Boy
The film The Englishman s boy is a screen adaptation of Guy Vanderhaeghe s book of the same
name. Vanderhaeghe also wrote the screenplay for the film. The book was based on the true story
of the Cypress Hills massacre in 1873. I will provide a summary of the film s most important plot
points, characters and background information. The movie covers the horrors that were witnessed
in Cypress Hills and shows the inhumane way Native Americans have been treated since
colonization, in 1873 and through to the 1920s. The movie explains how white men were
hearkened as heroes for committing these atrocities which were largely excused because society at
that time viewed natives as inhuman and therefore undeserving of human rights. The filmwas set
with a background in both 1873 pioneer plains and 1920s Hollywood. This method was used to
show a dualism within the two eras and that negative attitudes towards Native Americans had not
been corrected as they should have been but only muffled. I will compare the film and its accuracy
to the actual Cypress Hills massacre and determine what dramatics were used to make a point
within the direction of the movie. This film and the subsequent essay is relevant to this class
because I believe that even though the crimes committed against native Americans are less
obviously racist, violent and vulgar today, there is still a derogatory indifference towards them and
their cries for equality.
The film opens in 1873, with a young man working as a

  • 4. Hot Tin Roof Cat on a Hot Tin Roof starts like it ends, with drama. It is set on a plantation in Mississippi and there is never a dull moment on the plantation. Every single character has their own distinct personality that makes the reading of this play an exciting time. Although the personalities are fun to read about, the difference in personalities creates drama in the house. The story is centered around the Pollitt familyas members of the family try to convince Big Daddy to leave them the plantation when he passes. The first Character that needs to be mentioned, Brick, is the quietest and most reserved character in the play. Brick is a former football player and a famous announcer. (Williams 149). Brick is in a constant battle with himself throughout the whole story. This being because he has started drinking at all times so that he can hear a click in his head and become peaceful. The reason that he drinks is because he feels he is responsible for his friends Skipper s death. Brick s drinking is important to the play because it shows his disinterest in almost everything that occurs during the book. For example, while the will of Big Daddy s is being discussed, Brick is outside on the balcony having a drink. Gooper says to Maggie during this scene Why don t you go out there and drink with Brick? (Williams 149). This also is important because it shows that they characters in the play realize that Brick has no interest in anything besides his drink. Brick is an interesting character because he is the only one who does not thrive for Big Daddy s love, yet he is the only one who receives it. Brick can also be described as a character who is disgusted. He is disgusted with many events in this play. Cat on a Hot Tin Roof was heralded by some as the play in which homosexuality was at last to be presented without evasion (Bentley). This quote by critic Eric Bentley stands true because the idea of homesexuality in the play is another reason Brick is disgusted. He is disgusted with the world for the most part because nobody understand that his and Skipper s relationship was not a homosexual one.He states Why can t exceptional friendship, real, real, deep, deep friendship! between two men be respected as something clean and decent (Williams 117). This could be a reason that he is also sort of disgusted with women. Critic Jere Huzzard says Clearly both father and son had enjoyed a physical competency ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Ruby Moon By Matt Cameron Ruby Moon by Matt Cameron The Artslink Queensland production of Ruby Moon by Matt Cameron can be described as an example of the Australian Gothic dramatic style. Ruby Moon, set in picture perfect Flaming Tree Grove, is about the tragic dilemma of a couple, Ray and Sylvie, trying to cope with the earlier disappearance of their young daughter, Ruby, while on the way to visit her grandmother at the end of the cul de sac (Queensland Education, 2014). Matt Cameron s, Ruby Moon, is an award winning contemporary Australian playwright and screenwriter based in Melbourne which depicts a uniquely Australian landscape; employing the conventions of the Australian Gothic Theatrical style (Queensland TheatreCompany, 2009). In the production of Ruby Moon, the stage setting creates dramatic meaning and purpose. Ruby Moon is set in an Australian suburban town in picture perfect Flaming Tree Grove where Ray and Sylvie s daughter, Ruby, disappears on her way to visit her grandma at the end of the cul de sac (HCS, 2014). The intimacy and secrecy of the Flaming Tree Grove community and its lack of safety adds to the supernatural and paranormal intrusions of Australian Gothic Theatre. The Ruby Moon production was fuelled and inspired by fairy tales such as Little Red Riding Hood, Snow White, Hansel and Gretel, and Alice in Wonderland, and also newspaper headings and stories about families and their missing children scattered around the world. This simple activity can protect patients and healthcare workers (HCW) from infection. Healthcare workers including nursing staffs in the hospital keep washing their hands with soap and water or with sanitizer when they are in and out of patient s room. Even though all healthcare workers acknowledge the importance of hand hygiene in patient care, the hospital acquired infections are still growing and cause multi drug resistant pathogen infection as well (World HealthOrganization, 2009). Guideline of hand hygiene in health care, provided by the World Health Organization (WHO) addressed a healthcare associated infection (HACI) is the global problem especially in developing countries (World Health Organization, 2009). • 11. Asbestos And Its Effects On Society Asbestos is a small set of minerals that occur naturally in the environment. These minerals are silicate compounds, which means they contain silicon and oxygen; they form as groups of fibers that can easily be separated. These fibers are very durable, as they show a strong resistance to many common chemicals, heat and electricity. This made asbestosappear be a useful chemical for products used in a wide range of industries, so much that the United States military mandated its use in its branches. Since the industrial revolution, asbestos has been used to insulate factories, schools, homes, ships, to make automobile brake and clutch parts, roofing shingles, ceiling and floor tiles, cement, textiles, and hundreds of other products.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Approximately 90 percent of the asbestos used commercially in the world is chrysotile. Amphibole asbestos includes the minerals actinolite, tremolite, anthophyllite, crocidolite, and amosite. These minerals have weaker, straight, needle like fibers that make them more limited in their ability to be fabricated. Amosite asbestos is primarily sourced in South Africa, it is considered to be more toxic than chrysotile, and was most commonly used in construction products. It was at one time the second most commonly used form of asbestos. Crocidolite, which is known as blue asbestos, once made up about four percent of all asbestos used in the United States. This blue asbestos is extremely thin, and harder and more brittle than other types, which causes it to break easily and release dangerous needle like fibers that can be easily inhaled. This made it to be the most harmful form of asbestos by far, and it was often used as a reinforcement material for plastics and for making ropes. Actinolite asbestos was often used to make insulation and construction materials such as drywall and paint, although it is very rare, and usually found in metamorphic rocks. Chrysotile asbestos was the most widely used form in the world. It is estimated that about 90 95 percent of all asbestos that remains in buildings in the U.S. and Canada is of this variety. Chrysotile was used heavily in fireproofing and in insulation products. It was ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 12. Essay on Analaysis of the American Way No matter how liberty and freedom are defined, America and its people have always prided itself on being founded on their principles. Looking back at the founding of America , slavery, Civil War, emancipation, reconstruction, and the times following all the way through today I would say everyone should ask, is liberty truly the American Way? Since I have not yet taken American History 1, I had to look outside this week s readings to review the Monroe Doctrine and Manifest Destiny that lead to some of the attitudes and events covered. In 1823 in the Monroe Doctrine, America essentially told Europe and other powers in the eastern hemisphere hands off the western hemisphere. These problems with people and the suppression of freedom were not confined to the frontier but the south and north as well. In the south, African Americans were technically free but the 1896 case of Plessey vs. Ferguson established legal segregation. Worse than segregation were the lynchings. In 1898, Ida B. Wells Barnett wrote, Mr. President , the colored citizens of this country in general, and Chicago in particular, desire to respectfully urge that some action be taken by you the chief magistrate of this great nation........For nearly twenty years lynching crimes, which stand side by side with Armenian and Cuban outrages, have been committed and permitted by this Christian nation. (Wells Barnett) The north was plagued with discrimination against Slavic and Italian immigrants. While American born citizens moved into management and skilled labor jobs new immigrants were given less skilled work many times based on discrimination rather than qualifications. Both the racism already prevalent in American and nationalism led America to not only seeking to expand in the west but overseas. As with Manifest Destiny Americans felt the obligation to right the wrongs of not just on this continent but in world and the western hemisphere in particular. Evolution is a concept that has been researched extensively for over a century now and continues to bring interesting findings day after day. According to the Hardy Weinberg law (a principle that contributes to the understanding of evolution ) first introduced by Godfrey Hardy and Wilhelm Weinberg states that there are five possible agents of evolutionary change, including: natural selection, genetic drift, mutations, gene flow, and nonrandom mating. Nonetheless, the mechanism of interest for this particular lab is natural selection. According to Mader, Natural Selection is the mechanism, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Although this is only one case the results all seem to give a reasonable explanation to how this simulation can be applied in natural environments. It is logical to assume that the phenotypes (colors) that stand out in the environment (map) will most likely be the ones selected (eaten) by predators. For example, in this experiment the phenotypes subjected to positive selection pressure for the most part were dark colored dots or dots that were better blended into the environment, more specifically the green and clear colors who most likely blended with the grasses or trees. The phenotypes that were subjected to negative selection pressure were much of the bright colored dots that stood out in the environment, more specifically the hot pink, orange, and yellow colors. Furthermore, there are many similar documented cases and scenarios that go to show that these types of results are likely in the wild. One example is that of the tadpole fish who alter their body symmetry (the way they look) in response to predators. • 14. Exoplanets Research Paper Gabe Bambarakos Mrs.Rowse Borelli English 10 F 12 April 2017 Exoplanets An exoplanet can be defined as a planet that orbits a star outside the solar system. One of the many exoplanets that could possibly be habitable in the near future are far away. For example, Kepler 186 is around 500 light years aways to put that in perspective that is around 5,878,625,373,183.607731 Miles away. That is why we know so little about these planets that could support life on them. Starting off, what is some of the criteria that is needed to live on a planet. The University of Utah put it best when they described what is needed. One of the most basic needs to live on a different planet is they need to be a comfortable distance away from their star that is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... First off, the most common way to find new planets is Radial Velocity. The Radial Velocity method relies on the fact that a star does not remain completely stationary when it is orbited by a planet. It moves, ever so slightly, in a small circle or ellipse, responding to the gravitational tug of its smaller companion. When viewed from a distance, these slight movements affect the star s normal light spectrum, or color signature. If the star is moving towards the observer, then its spectrum would appear slightly shifted towards the blue; if it is moving away, it will be shifted towards the red. Secondly, Transit Photometry is the second most common method. This method detects distant planets by measuring the minute dimming of a star as an orbiting planet passes between it and the Earth. The passage of a planet between a star and the Earth is called a transit. If such a dimming is detected at regular intervals and lasts a fixed length of time, then it is very probable that a planet is orbiting the star and passing in front of it once every orbital period. Lastly, the method of Microlensing is Microlensing is the only known method capable of discovering planets at truly great distances from the Earth. Whereas radial velocity searches look for planets in our immediate galactic neighborhood, up to 100 light years from Earth, and transit photometry can potentially detect planets at a distance of hundreds of light years, microlensing can find planets orbiting stars near the center of the galaxy, thousands of light years away ( How to Search for Exoplanet.). • 28. Architecture During The Renaissance The fifteenth and sixteenth century is a period of transition between the Medieval Ages and the Modern Times. This period, called the Renaissance, had manifested itself in Italy. This movement, which would have its repercussion in France, Spain, England, Germany, Switzerland, is characterized by a series of political, economic, social and intellectual changes. The Renaissance was a very important era for architecture because during the Renaissance, architecture became so much more than just buildings. It was created because the Medieval Ages was such a dark, depressing time. The people who lived in that area needed change. Architecture played a vital role in Renaissance and the changes that happened. Without the changes of architecture that happened during the Renaissance, it wouldn t be anything like what it is today. What led to the Renaissance was, the Byzantine Empire had long since decayed. The beginnings of the crisis go back to the capture of Constantinople by the crusaders in 1204. The Latin barons ruined the city which never got up completely from this looting. In addition, the gap between the rich and the poor was widening as state resources dwindled dangerously. Unable to defend his own frontiers, the emperor had to buy peace from other sovereigns. He had to resolve to entrust the army to mercenaries. Soon the Turks threatened the city. Besieged from 1394 to 1402, Constantinople was miraculously saved by the Mongol invasion of Tamerlane. The respite was to fall short. The advent of an energetic Sultan, Mehmet II, at the head of the Turkish army, precipitated the denouement. In 1453, a powerful Ottoman army moved under the walls of the city. Constantinople finally falls under the pressure of janissaries. The fall of Constantinople, apparently, did not upset the West: the Christian sovereigns left the old Eastern Empire. However, this event had important consequences for the countries of Europe. Many Byzantine prelates, artists and men of science fled to the West, including Italy. Digital Watermarking technique is used to hide a secret or personal message to protect a products copyright or to demonstrate data integrity. To provide double protection, after the watermarking process, the watermarked image tends to go through an encryption process using CHAKRA symmetry key encryption algorithm which encrypts the data with the concepts of Cartesian coordinate geometry and circle generation. In this paper, we perform watermarking on different types of images like BMP, JPEGetc.., and the input image is pre processed and converted into JPEG LS format which contains enhanced quality. These group of companies use cross border parent subsidiary relationships to accomplish greater efficiency, gain economies of scale, and exploit differences in national taxation rates. My life literally got turned upside down; I was in a car accident. As traumatic as the accident was it changed my outlook on life in a positive way, however, I wish it did not have to come down to that in order for me to figure things out. It made me realizehow things could change in an instant and that all those things you never thought could happen to you actually can. But I also realized how much I love life. Life and all the good and bad things in it are a gift that we should not take for granted. It was a typical Saturday night in October, Halloween was just around the corner. Three friends and I were headed to a corn maze. It was supposed to be a fun night, until we turned onto a dirt road and in an instant everything changed. The driver hit a washboard patch on the road and lost control of the car. I felt the car jerk left and right and looked up from the backseat at the driver. Her hands were tight on the steering wheel turning it left and right trying to regain control of the car. We were sliding and I felt the car drop off the road. I closed my eyes tight afraid to witness what was about to happen next. It is amazing all the things you can see with your eyes closed. We rolled three times and all though it all happened so fast it seemed like it was never going to end. I felt like a doll being thrown around with no control over my body. While many people think that these pageants are an overall good experience for any child this paper contains and explores research paper that will outline the negative effects these pageants have on the children in them, some of them being long term effects. Some of these effects include mental anguish that is formed from children being in these contests and the effects the pageants have on a family as a whole. The fact that majority of the class made me worried for the lesson I prepared for the following day because the two lessons were designed to match up. Specifically, Italy experienced major civil discord as emperors, popes, and elite families sought governmental control. It is within these tense times that Dante lived and wrote his poetic masterpiece, Commedia. Although little is known for certain about Dante, scholars believe he was born in 1265 and lived in Florencefor the majority of his adult life. While Dante was by no means poor, his family was not wealthy enough to achieve elite status, so he became involved with politics. In 1302, Dante was exiled from Florence for numerous reasons, including political complicity and opposition to the pope, resulting in him traveling throughout various Italian towns until... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Passing through the Hellgate and the surrounding area, which was an ante inferno to torment people who were neither good nor evil, Dante and Virgil come upon the Acheron River where the boatman Charon ferries souls into Hell. Dante uses the Greek figure Charon to represent the 14th century religious belief that St. Peter held the keys to Heaven. When Charon questions Dante and Virgil s mission into Hell, Virgil tells him that God has willed it, and Charon steps aside and allows Dante and Virgil to enter the boat. Just as Charon acted as chauffer between one world and the next, Christians at this time believed St. Peter held the keys to Heaven and moderated who entered. Dante draws on both of these perspectives when describing the people who were not accepted by either Heaven or Hell because they were neither good nor evil. Just as Charon can refuse neutral souls from entering Hell, St. Peter can prevent lukewarm Christians from entering Heaven. By creating an ante inferno area where in between souls experience constant agony and torture, such as being attacked by insects and eaten by worms, Dante encourages people to choose either salvation or sin, but not live heretical lives. The linking of Charon and St. Peter, especially regarding neutral believers, demonstrates that although there may be some gray areas, like the ante inferno, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 42. Napoleon And Illya s Fighting Analysis For this media fight analysis, I will be studying Napoleon Solo and Illya Kuryakin from the 1960 s television series, The Man from U.N.C.L.E. In addition to fighting with guns and a myriad of other weapons, Napoleon and Illya primarily use hand to hand combat against their opponents stemming from traditional boxing and Judo. The primary goal for their methods of fighting is to subdue their opponents instead of causing great injury or death. When death does occur, it is usually in the form of self defense, necessity, or the opponent is killed by an error in their own weapons, like poison or killer bees. Napoleon s and Illya s fighting style is a blend between traditional boxing and Judo. Known for mostly using punches and evasive footwork instead of an emphasis on kicking, boxing has evolved dramatically over history. Historians have found evidence that the earliest form of boxing was created in 4000 BCE in North Africa, spreading to Greece and Rome as a spectator sport. In 1681, boxing was first documented in Britain, and it was in 1743 when there were actual rules to prevent deaths in the sport. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Later on in the trailer we are seeing what s happening through the eyes of the villain, this is a very long, in time, shot of the same view through a mask, which is not typical of a horror trailer but works, as it is consistently scary. Vanderhaeghe also wrote the screenplay for the film. The book was based on the true story of the Cypress Hills massacre in 1873. I will provide a summary of the film s most important plot points, characters and background information. The movie covers the horrors that were witnessed in Cypress Hills and shows the inhumane way Native Americans have been treated since colonization, in 1873 and through to the 1920s. The movie explains how white men were hearkened as heroes for committing these atrocities which were largely excused because society at that time viewed natives as inhuman and therefore undeserving of human rights. The filmwas set with a background in both 1873 pioneer plains and 1920s Hollywood. This method was used to show a dualism within the two eras and that negative attitudes towards Native Americans had not been corrected as they should have been but only muffled. I will compare the film and its accuracy to the actual Cypress Hills massacre and determine what dramatics were used to make a point within the direction of the movie. This film and the subsequent essay is relevant to this class because I believe that even though the crimes committed against native Americans are less obviously racist, violent and vulgar today, there is still a derogatory indifference towards them and their cries for equality.
