How Does Prospero Present Caliban s Relationship In The...
In the Tempest, Prospero s demand for respect and power leads him to be domineering and forceful
towards Caliban and Ariel. Not only having magical powers, Prospero displays another type of power,
his power over his slaves. Prospero s way of treating his slaves differs when he orders them to do
something. Caliban having a mean and violent relationship, while Ariel has an obligated and forceful
relationship with Prospero. Prospero and Caliban s relationship is portrayed as the more dominant
character having power over and abusing the weaker with violence. On the island, Prospero comes off
as a very controlling and dominant person, due to the way he acts with Caliban by calling him his
slave. Hence Caliban s name meaning earthy , Prospero

Kosinski s Being There and the Existential Anti-Hero...
Kosinski s Being There and the Existential Anti Hero
Critics have referred to Kosinski s Being There as his worst novel. Perhaps, Kosinski s prosaic style is
deceptive in its apparent simplicity (especially when contrasted with The Painted Bird). What
Kosinski seeks to do, as Welch D. Everman relates, is to stimulate the reader s recreative and
imaginative task by offering only the essentials...Kosinski s style draws the reader into the incident by
refusing to allow him to remain passive (25). This essay will propose that Being There is a major
existential work following in the tradition of Sartre and Camus in which Chance, the main protagonist,
mirrors Camus s Mersault in A Happy Death and in which Koskinski demonstrates ... Show more

Chance has been given his name because he had been born by chance , yet as Everman shows, this is
true of everyone, and so his given name is hardly a name at all....In addition, he loses this rather
tenuous name early in the book... and therefore is without a real name (63).
Furthermore, no one in the book exists without some type of tangible record proving existence. When
Mr. Franklin, the Old Man s executor, interrogates Chance, he seeks commodified proof of Chance s
existence; he asks for, among other items, a checkbook, driver s license, insurance card, tax forms.
Chance, encountering the existential dilemma, the quest for identity, counters: you have me. I am here.
What more proof do you need (18)? Of course, mere existence proves useless and Chance is
excommunicated from his beloved garden. Why does a writer who displays such brilliant technical
skills and prosaic style resort to utilizing such a one dimensional character? Perhaps Koskinski has
simply found the next logical step in the chain of psychological evolution. Yet, rather than the natural
heir to Benji Compson, Chance is, instead, the natural descendent of Patrice Mersault.
After Nietzsche declared God dead, we spent the next half century in an angst ridden frenzy. Sartre,
Beckett, and Camus best exemplify this condition in their writings. Camus s Mersualt (perhaps the
predecessor to

The Importance Of Animal Rights
Have you ever considered the rights of animals? Do they have any rights?.According to an article
called Animal Rights it is proven that if animals had rights there wouldn t be no experiments on
animals, no breeding and killing of animals for food however, all of these examples are sadly used
today that provides evidence to prove that animals do not have rights. To emphasise that animals do
not have rights, it is also proven in the book Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban with animals
such as Crookshanks and Buckbeak that do not have animal rights due to the facts that both animals
are misjudged and automatically assumed guilty when something wrong occurs or when an accusation
is made and both are treated with no respect. Crookshanks and Buckbeak do not have rights as a result
of the two being misjudged and automatically assumed guilty when something goes wrong, unable to
defend themselves they are treated with a punishment or treated unjustly after the accusation is made.
For example in the book Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban Buckbeak is taken to a lesson with
Hagrid and Hagrid clearly states to his students that hippogriffs are easily offended. When its Malfoy
turn, he decides to say that Buckbeak is a great ugly brute and Buckbeak reacts, later Malfoy goes on
to fake an injury and tells his father. The situation becomes so serious that it is taken to the Committee
for the Disposal of Dangerous Creatures where one of the members

How Does Napoleon Use Language In Animal Farm
In Animal Farm the power of language is displayed. The pigs use language to manipulate other
animals on the farm. Snowball, Napoleon, and Squealer both have different ways of using language to
convince the other animals what they say is right. The animals could not make up their minds which
was right indeed, they always found themselves in agreement with the one who was speaking at the
moment (66). Snowball, Napoleon, and Squealer were all successful at manipulating the animals.
Snowball and Napoleon disagree about everything in the meetings. Snowball, often won over the
majority by his brilliant speeches (63). Snowball was a more influential and better speaker than
Napoleon. He convinced the animals that building a windmill would be beneficial to their farm. He
proved to the animals that he had a plan. I ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He was not as a good speaker as Napoleon, but the animals listened too him because he seemed
powerful. He used his dogs to drive out Snowball from the farm. They because his guard dogs. As a
result, all of the animals feared him. They listened to everything that he said and did not argue when
Napoleon took away their voting rights. The animals were dismayed by this announcement. Several of
them would have protested if they could have found the right arguments (69). The animals would have
protested, but they were too scared of Napoleon. Squealer also manipulates language. He explained to
the animals that Snowball was a criminal. He says that they need a leader with discipline. Surely,
comrades, you do not want Jones back? Here Squealer first says comrades to show that he is on their
side. He then makes the animals afraid by saying that Mr. Jones would come back if Napoleon was not
the leader. Without a disciplined and obedient leader, Jones might return. Squealer is making it seem
like he is defending their freedom. The animals question Napoleons decision because they did not
want Jones to come

Fraud In Psychiatric Therapy
Have you ever had a little brother or sister go through all of your belongings and find money and end
up stealing it, knowing they were doing wrong. Just because this happened to you when you were
younger does not mean that it can not happen to you when you are an adult. A Boston area
psychiatrist, for example, forfeited $1.3 million and was sentenced to several years in federal prison
following his late 1990s conviction on 136 counts of mail fraud, money laundering and witness
intimidation related to his fraudulent billing of several health insurers for psychiatric therapy sessions
that never took place using the names and insurance information of many people whom he actually
had never met, let alone treated. (He also went so far as to write fictitious longhand session notes to
ensure phony backup for his phony claims.) (Webinar) Fraud is something that can happen on any
level where a crime can be committed by a person, knowing they are doing it and still getting away
with it or by accident knowing that their actions were innocuous, either way fraud is fraud and as sad
as it is to say, it happens every day by millions of people, not just the IRS. Few attempts have been

In Today s society, they are talking about how someone could commit fraud and not even realize it
because their actions were innocuous. One legal definition of fraud reads, the intentional use of deceit,
a trick or some dishonest means to deprive another of his/her/its money, property or a legal right.
(Goldberg) A key word in that sentence is intentional. By definition, if you accidentally, and thus
unintentionally commit fraud, you should be safe from reprimand. However, the line of intent can
sometimes be blurry and there are certain ways that you could unwittingly commit fraud and still

Dictatorism In The Hunger Games
Allowing people to get their needs for food and entertainment, without too much effort on them, was
what many different dictatorial societies did to control their communities for certain periods of time,
in the past. This was also dictatorial society s method to gain control over the districts and the Capitol
s people of the country called Panem in The Hunger Games trilogy of young adult dystopian novels
written by American novelist Suzanne Collins. These games were an entertainment that provided a
place for the Capitol s riches to spend time and money in abundance, a dusty page reminiscent of
capitol s victory in the war against districts, and a coercion to show off the capitol s power.
Hunger Games were very popular in districts as well as in the Capitol. People in the Capitol loved
hunger games because it was so exciting and breathtaking. Every year tributes came from other
districts in train and Capitol people waited there for them. Cheering, shouting for the new hunger
games, a game that they enjoy others death. The people begin to point at us eagerly as they recognize
a tribute train rolling into the city. I step away from the window, sickened by their excitement,
knowing they can t wait to watch us die (Collins 59). Some tributes waved their hands to them
bewilderedly and some sat in their chairs despondently but they all knew that every tribute will be
dead except the winner of the Hunger Games. We can t help it. Both Peeta and I run to the window to

Spotless Mind
Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind Essay If you could erase any memories you wanted, would
you? The connection between our memories and our ability to feel joy is very closely related.
Recalling memories are something we do multiple times every day. Memories are a place where
emotions, feelings, experiences, and who we are as a person reside. Without our memories, we would
be very different than how we are right now. Many times we find ourselves wishing we could forget
certain things, but we do not realize that if we wouldn t have the knowledge and the growth we gained
from it happening in the first place. In the movie Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind we see how

There is not one memory that anyone can recall that they won t feel any sort of emotion for rather
good or bad. Joy and sadness are the two main emotions we feel when we recall memories. We can t
have one without the other. When we remember things they are broken up into good and bad
memories. For example, when something horrible happens to us like a break up mostly all the
memories which were once joyful will then become sad. Those now sad memories have the ability to
affect the way you feel in everyday life. This is where memories can be a bad thing, say in a year I
meet someone new I could easily run away and hide because I fear what happened to me before might
happen again because I remember the pain I felt. On the other hand, how can I experience joy if I don
t remember what pain feels like. This might seem like a funny concept, but if we lived in a world
where we could forget all the bad things that have happened and some of the good things we would
not know what real joy feels like cause we would always just be stuck in the same

Eric Foner American Freedom Summary
Response to Eric Foner on American Freedom Foner emphasizes on the diverse interpretations of
freedom, and based on people s lived experiences within American society, it can represent different
things. Since it has no fixed definition within the article, Foner views freedom as a concept and states
by its very nature is the subject of disagreement (xiv). People s worldview can help shape what
freedom means to them and it may limit what freedom means to others. Although the Declaration of
Independence promotes all humans having unalienable rights given by the creator, which are life ,
liberty and the pursuit of happiness, not all americans are able to enjoy those rights in American
society. As American societal norms constantly change (eventually), ... Show more content on

This approach is a way to miss and dismiss the point of Blacks actually discussing the critical state
their community is in. The focus is not black lives over other s lives in the world, but is it the focus of
the neglect of black lives, when taken away, they are not viewed with disgust as when their white
counterparts die/are harassed in the same manner. It s weirdly interesting that when Blacks are literally
killed for following the law and are unarmed, they are blamed for their own death, all because a cop
feared for their life. Once officers say that phrase, which I view as a cliché to say when one signs up
for such a fearful job, cases are usually wrapped up and forgotten about. However, thanks to social
media, the public is able to see the hideous lies and blatant truth about certain cases that highlight why
the people have a problem with the government and distrust the police. Oddly as all Americans are
forced to pay taxes, these taxes go to public necessities like schools, to fire stations and to the police
station, even to wars. Sadly I interpret it as the government focuses Blacks to pay police to kill their
people off, and the government seems to always instantly support the officer s word over the victim (if
still alive), and people. If people do not stand up against

Themes Of The Book Echo, Great Ambition
All books have themes that teach the reader a lesson. The theme of the book Echo is great ambition.
Another book that has a great theme is Tuck Everlasting which has the theme of hope. I have read so
many books with many great themes. But one book that I read in my summer reading assignment is
Red Queen. This book s theme was so intriguing. Usually, books have themes like friendship, love,
and kindness. But the Red Queen had a very interesting theme. The theme of this book was trust and
betrayal.
Now before I launch into a wide ranged explanation of why it has a theme of trust and betrayal let me
explain the summary of the book to you. Now in this book Mare Barrow s world is divided by blood.

To be more specific I will quote a passage from the book Red Queen. What is it? Who else joined up?
They don t answer me, exchanging glances instead. A few names run through my head, servants and
kitchen boys who would support the cause. But the person who joins us is no servant. He s not even
Red. Maven.
I don t know whether to scream or run when I see my betrothed appear from the shadows. He s a
prince, he s Silver, he s the enemy, and yet, here he is, standing with one of the leaders of the Scarlet
Guard. His companion Holland, an aging Red servant with years of service behind him, seems to swell
with pride. She steps toward us, gun in hand, but she s just as nervous as he is. Still, her voice does not
shake. I want to hear it from your lips, little prince. Tell me what you told him, she says tipping her
head toward Holland. Maven sneers at little prince, his lips curving in distaste, but he doesn t snap at
her. I want to join the Guard, he says, his voice full of conviction. She moves quickly, cocking the
pistol and taking aim in the same motion. My heart seems to stop when she presses the barrel to his
forehead, but Maven doesn t flinch. Why? she hisses.
Because the world is wrong. What my father has done, what my brother will do, is wrong. He is a
prince and, worst of all, the queen s son. I didn t want to trust him for this very reason, for the secrets
he kept hidden. Or maybe this is what he

Summary Of The New Science Of Mind By Kandel
The brain is a very complex organ that conducts several mental processes. Kandel s article The New
Science of Mind describes how scientist are now able to describe the way brain processes are linked to
mental disorders. I recall learning about the different functions of the parts of the brain in anatomy
class. The hypothalamus regulates important body s systems, the amygdala has to do with our
emotions, the hippocampus helps us remember things, and the prefrontal cortex which enables
personality expression and moderates social behavior, as Kandel portrays in his research. As a
psychology major I am interested in the way the brain plays a role in mental disorders. He states that a
dysfunction in brain processes is what causes mental illnesses.

Endangered Animals
The world is facing many serious issues in this day and time. One of the major one is endangered
species. These organisms are living on the edge of extinction. There are many things that threaten
these species like loss of habitat, lack of food, hunting and many more. The victim of this horrendous
crime against living organisms is the fastest running mammal called Cheetah, scientifically known as
Acinonyx jubatus .
Cheetahs are true carnivores which means they depend on meat for survival. They use high speed to
easily hunt their prey. Primary diet of cheetah consists of springbok, ostriches, impala, deer, gazelles,
warthogs, birds, hares, young zebras etc. These animals tend to target younglings because of the
greater rate of success. And while hunting these species like to stalk their prey for 10 50m and then
start sprinting towards it. During this time frame, their bodies are under immense strain and pressure
as a result their body temperature rises to its highest.
These mammals live in the dry grasslands of sub Saharan Africa, and in eastern and southern parks.
Some can also be found in southern Algeria, northern Niger and Iran. Today Namibia has the largest
population of cheetahs living in Africa. It is very hard to believe that these species use to roam around
nearly all of Africa and much of Asia, but now they are driven out of 91% of its historic range. These
animals are nearly extinct in Asia, only around 50 of these individual are living in isolated areas of

Salt Late City Law History Essay
Salt Late City Law History
Salt Lake City looks like a very large well organised city, there are fair house allotments and they were
quite large. The city is a good strong planned community with lots of residential areas. The way the
city is set out it is obvious that a strong leader who knew what he wanted has planned the city and
shows through the city that it is very disciplined. There may have been school their as well which
would have proven what a well organised city this is. There are a few large churches, which tells us
that this city is prosperous and religious.

Apart from law and order there were many other problems in mining towns. The majority of the
population were males and built their own cabins, this meant they were probably not very good or
safe. Also they did there own cooking, which probably wasn t the best diet and probably got food
poisoning often. There was an epidemic of typhoid in fall and early winter but there were no deaths,
which show there were healthy and strong. The houses had no drains and most houses were badly kept
so the houses were most likely dirty.
The problems of law and order in early western towns can be studied using the sources these show lots
of lawlessness in towns and murdering. One source shows a bank robbery, this is proof that the towns
did not have any policing. The source shows also that a few vigilantes on the scene, further proof that
the towns were lawless. Vigilantes were present because of the lack of law that there was in the towns.
They felt it necessary that law had to be imposed on the town other wise it could fall apart.
Another source shows a notice from vigilantes pinned to a man hung for murder. This is useful
because it shows the vigilantes taken the law into there own hands. It also states the reasons for the
vigilantes forming, it tells us that life and security is too sacred to not be protected so they will resort
to these means even if it means killing

While it is true that Romanelli told Schor not to open the account, Romanelli s actions would imply
that Schor did have authority to act on Romanelli s behalf. Romanelli gave Schor authority to conduct
business for him when he hired Schor as his accountant and financial adviser (Melvin Katz, 2015,
p.321). Schor was also given a corporate resolution that gives someone the authority to act on behalf
of the corporation (Investopedia, 2015). It is unknown what the corporate resolution was for, but since
Romanelli had given it to Schor along with other documents pertaining to the opening of a bank
account, it is safe to assume that it had to do with giving Schor authority to open the account on
Romanelli s behalf. Even though Schor was told not to open the account, he can claim that he had
been given authority at one time to open it. Although Romanelli did not win his case against Citibank,
he does have a couple of remedies against Schor. These include the ability to seek damages from
Schor for the amount that Schor had embezzled. Romanelli could also fire Schor for breach of duty.

Evaluation Of A Teacher Classroom Management Plan Evaluation
Clinical Cooperating Teacher Classroom Management Plan Evaluation Positive reinforcement plays a
major role in the classroom management plan in my cooperating teacher s classroom. In this fourth
grade class, students are grouped in groups of four or five who work as a team to earn marbles. Each
group has a marble jar on their storage shelf in their group where the teacher will add a variety of
different sized marbles. Students can earn marbles for following directions, answering questions,
paying attention, helping others, being a good listener, and many other positive behaviors and good
choices. Different size marbles represent a different amount of tickets that students can earn to use to
purchase rewards. Some rewards include a free homework pass, lunch with a friend, lunch with the
teacher; sit in the rocking chair during reading time, or choosing a prize from the prize box. As I
observed the class, I realized this system works really well for this group of students. The teacher
would give the class directions. For example, please get out your math journals and a pencil. The
teacher did not have to say anything about earning marbles. All she did was gather a handful of
marbles, begin walking around the room looking for a group who was following direction and ready to
work. Once she spotted a group doing what was asked, she placed the marbles in their jar. She
followed the steps until she was out of marbles. Students were ready to work fast. The clink

Becoming An Orthodontist
A Great Job to Pursue (Oral Health): Orthodontists
The career of an Orthodontist may seem difficult to succeed, but it is a very important job to consider.
Going to the dentist may appear to be enough, but the truth is they only clean the patient s teeth. An
Orthodontist can align crooked teeth that are out of place and need to be moved into a better position
(World Book Millennium 2000). When knowing that one wants to take on this career, they should start
planning as early as high school. The student should take extra science courses to help prepare them

Subjective Well-Being Essay
According to Freud s conclusion based on decades of experimentation and theoretical work in the field
of psychotherapy, humans cannot be happy because a satisfaction of needs creates only a momentary
phase of happiness which expires after some time. Therefore, the focus of life should not be obtaining
happiness, and people should focus on avoiding suffering instead (Bullock, n.d.). However, several
paradigms about well being exist, and individual cognitive patterns and paradigms define the
emotional responses to social influences. From an objective viewpoint, well being is a state of
consciousness that arises from a combination of internal and external factors, and money is an
unstable external influence in defining ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Perhaps from a mental health perspective, people who pursue money because of unrealistic goals can
suffer from more stress and impair their mental health more significantly than people who pursue
money for realistic goals. Furthermore, several cross sectional studies support the economic paradigm
that money is positively correlated with happiness (Gardner Oswald, 2007). Although cross sectional
studies have many weaknesses, Gardener and Oswald (2007) agree with those conclusions because
their longitudinal study found that a windfall of money has the same positive effect on happiness and
lower mental stress. In other words, if people achieve financial success, their motivation will be
fulfilled. Although happiness achieved by high income levels is unstable and completely dependent on
the income level, it is not possible to define financial security as more stable than happiness if people
lose their income. Unrealistic money making motivations appear to be unstable, but realistic
motivations are not more stable than unrealistic ones. Because income is connected with both types of
motivations, all money making goals are achieved by creating income, and all goals are lost by losing
income. It is apparently not possible to generalize conclusions based on negative correlations. If
research proves that certain motives are in a negative correlation with subjective well being, it will

As I got on the plane I was not able to handle all of my excitement. I would be having a new

The Death Penalty Debate Essay
The Death Penalty Debate
The issue of the death penalty is widely disputed. So disputed that maybe I shouldn t have picked this
topic. But nevertheless, the death penalty is an issue that needs to be addressed. Should the death
penalty be abolished from our criminal justice system? Well, that depends on whom you ask. If you
ask me... no. I personally don t see anything wrong with the death penalty because there are a lot of
criminals that are just too dangerous to society and death is the only punishment they deserve.
I know that it is in the eighth amendment that prohibits cruel and unusual punishment, and I can t
think of a greater punishment for a crime than death, but I believe that exceptions should be made.
Despite U.S. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The most recent state to enact a death penalty law was New York in 1995. As of January 1998, 38
states and the federal government have capital punishment laws in effect. Alaska, Hawaii, Iowa,
Maine, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, North Dakota, Rhode Island, Vermont, West Virginia,
and Wisconsin do not have a death penalty. (http://www.uaa.alaska.edu/just/death/)
Death penalty advocates argue that the execution of convicted murderers deter others from committing
murder for fear that they will also be executed, and also that murderers will be incapacitated: once
dead, they will have no opportunity to commit additional murders. Death penalty opponents dispute
the deterrent effect of capital punishment, arguing that few murderers rationally weigh the possibility
that they might face the death penalty before committing a murder. Finally, death penalty opponents
do not dispute that execution incapacitates executed murders, but argue that life imprisonment without
possibility of parole is equally incapacitating. (Jacob Sullum, Los Angeles)
I do not agree with this statement. I couldn t think of punishment worse than death. If I were a

The Account of Mary Rowlandson and Other Indian Captivity...
A Clash of Cultures Mary Rowlandson s The Account of Mary Rowlandson and Other Indian
Captivity Narratives shows two different sides of the Indian people. This narrative describes
Rowlandson s experience as a captive of an Indian tribe that raided the town of Lancaster in 1676.
Following her capture Rowlandson is treated no better than an animal, and has no type of freedom
what so ever. Even so, after living with the Indians for some time, they start to treat her more like a
person by trading and giving her time to see her family. Neither the whites or Indians are completely
at fault for the death of so many people, it is the clash of two completely different cultures. Although

Rowlandson was completely shocked by this kind deed and did not know what to make of it (65 66).
Shortly after this event, the Indians realize that she can be an asset to them instead of a burden.
Because of her skill in making clothing, the Indians begin to trade food and other small items for her
services. King Phillip even trades good news for a bunch of items from Rowlandson (83). As she gains
more trust with the Indians she is granted leave to go visit her family by herself. The change in the
attitude of the Indians towards the captives was dramatic nearing their release, showing that they were
not just ruthless killers but also human. The large amount of killings done by both Indians and whites
were not because either one was evil, but because there was a huge difference in culture. When two
completely different cultures like that are suddenly combined, there is going to be a lot of confusion
and in this case blood shed. The cultures initially didn t know how to react to each other so became
hostile. Because of this constant hostility, neither culture was able to learn about the other. This
learning was only accomplished by the people who were captured by the other side such as
Rowlandson. Near the end of her captivity, Rowlandson begins to warm up to the Indians a little

The Second Parasitic Infection After Malaria
Schistosomiasis is the second parasitic infection after malaria (kiros et al., 2014) and is a standout
amongst the most pervasive and disregarded illnesses of tropical and subtropical areas (rizk and aly,
2015). B. alexandrina snails are the intermediate host of Schistosoma mansoni (le Clec h et al. 2016)
with high prevalence in Egypt (el Sheikh et al., 2012). Control of B. alexandrina upsets the life cycle
of the parasite (el Sherbini et al., 2009) and contains a critical component in coordinated
methodologies for lessening the spread of schistosomiasis (rocha Filho et al., 2015). Manufactured
molluscicides is an imperative part in the incorporated schistosomiasis control programs. The high
cost of these molluscicides and their negative effect on the earth being poisonous to creatures of land
and water (salem et al., 2014; world health organization, 2014), have stimulated interest for quest for
plant molluscicides (otarigho and morenikeji, 2012; kiros et al. 2014). The medicinal plants represent
the main source of molluscicidal agents for B. alexandrina control (el Sherbini et al., 2009) as these
plants are less costly, less unsafe to the earth and having a high level of degradability (salawu and
odaibo, 2011; rocha filho et al., 2015). Moringa oleifera Lamarck (Family: Moringaceae) is an
important medicinal plant referred as a miracle tree (radovich, 2009). It is discovered broadly
dispersed in both tropical and

Mcauley explains that the behavioral regulation index and the metacognition index were very strongly
associated with the parent and teacher ratings of attention problems in youth and with behavioral or
emotional problems in everyday settings. He states that the test is specifically helpful in the instance
of children with ADHD, explaining that children with ADHD have held higher scores on the BRIEF2
when compared to their peers. The working memory scale stands out as a scale that is particularly
sensitive to ADHD children. That being said there appears to be no significant associations between
the Behavioral Regulation Index or the Metacognition Index and youth s scores on measures of
inhibition, performance monitoring, and working memory. (Mcauley,2010). Likewise other studies
have found similar results when using different performance based tasks to examine executive
function. This article praises the BRIEF2 but only in conjunction with other tools to determine the
nature of the problems that the child is having and the proper course of action in dealing with

A Critique of Today s Process of Ijtihad
A Critique of Today s Process of Ijtihad
Recent achievements in Islamic banking do not indicate an advance in the jurists interpretation of riba.
Writings on riba have been extensively concerned with the expositions of riba, but with disquisitions
about riba. Thought about riba, and any other Qur anic penetrative codes, must be a story of
movements in outlook and ever changing ideas, and developments taking place in contemporary social
sciences. Its province is destined by God, may he be exalted, in a way to be determined and re
determined in the course of time by drawing insights from different branches of human science. The
subject of riba, and other divine codes in Qur an regarding dealings and transactions is such that no
cohesive delineation of the scope can be regarded as final.
Some of needless difficulties that have arisen in a proper interpretation of riba are of linguistic origin.
The jurist s business is with words. Words are not only tools of thought, but also control it.
Accordingly, to think profitably about riba will be assisted by a sharpened awareness of possibilities
of language, not only to lead thought but also to mislead it. This paves the ground on which the
Islamic jurists adherence to their predecessors grasp of riba is questioned. This should not be deemed
a denial of the rich legacy handed down from the predecessors. A modern society cannot but build
upon the foundations laid in the past.
However, this must be carried out with due

Utilitarianism In The Movie Matrix
In the movie Matrix, people live in a virtual world composed of happiness although delusional, and
are not conscious of this fact. Their daily lives are carried on oblivious to the painful, decrepit, and
depressing conditions of reality. There exist two different sides to this predicament. In a utilitarianist s
perspective, this condition is understandable because ultimately, overall happiness is higher compared
to an otherwise situation. However, in a realist s point of view, it would seem that anything achieved
in a false world will always be false, therefore humans should achieve real things that matter. Ever
since the 17th century, utilitarianism and many more political ideals like it, started becoming popular,
and rightfully so as the world grew unbalanced economically due to expansionism. Utilitarianism is
used precisely for achieving overall happiness in a society and does so without regards to how it is
achieved. Specifically, to achieve the greatest
Kim 2 amount of happiness to the greatest amount of people. An example of act utilitarianism would
be in a situation in which a single man is permitted to die in order to save three. Upsides to
utilitarianism is, when applied to a society, it causes them to become less selfish and understand that
everyone lives in the pursuit of happiness. Anything that may cause unhappiness is commonly refused.
Therefore, many of the problems that exist right now due to selfish causes as well as economic
imbalance will be

American Family Traditions
Holidays Another way that older generations pass down elements of the Korean culture is through
holiday traditions. For the most part, the interviewees listed the typical American holidays that their
families celebrate, including Christmas and Thanksgiving. It was evident that some American holidays
were less emphasized, such as Independence Day and Halloween. Julie expressed that the lack of
observance of some American customs exemplifies her parent s transmission of Korean culture. For
example, because Halloween is not a Korean holiday, Julie and her siblings never dressed up or went
trick or treating like a majority of their friends. Instead, their parents took them to pumpkin patches,
church functions or harvest festivals. Julie formulated ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Ray, whose family also participates in this exchange each year, also described the scene as being the
most formal family tradition:
So, one of the parents announce that it is time and my cousins and I will all bow to the older aunts,
uncles and grandparents of course. We re supposed to memorize something in Korean to say to them.
After we do that, they say something back to us and give us cash or give the younger kids candy or a
small gift. I d say it s the most formal or traditional thing that we do with our whole family. It s pretty
cool. (Interview Ray November 10, 2015)
Although it is not a consistent annual tradition in his family, Daniel expressed that he is familiar with
this ritual and has done it before due to its prevalence in the Korean American community (Interview
Daniel November 14, 2015). It is no surprise that this tradition is one of the more popular among
Korean Americans because it is consistent with the Korean and Confucian values of respecting elders

Descriptive Essay On A Water Park
The wet and wild idea
The sun was bright and there was warmth in the air so it was a great day to go to a water park with my
friend Darcy. We were going to be the first ones down the huge water slide. We had been waiting all
night and day to go down this exciting ride. There needs to be four people to go down this water slide
but there are just the two of us so we will just need to try and get a lot of speed up at the start and hope
that we can get to the end of the water slide. We want to be the first ones down it but we look to our
right and there are hundreds of people waiting to go down it. We need to think of a plan to get around
the huge line of people.
There s a lifeguard blocking the only way to get up to the water slide so we will have to be careful
there so they won t catch us sneaking past the line. We will have to distract the lifeguard. Darcy you
will need to tell the lifeguard that someone is stealing his car. Then we can crab a raft and run up the
stairs to the top of the water slide. We can quickly jump onto the raft and go down the water slide.
When we get to the end of the waterslide we will run to the busiest pool and jump into the busiest pool
so that the lifeguards can t spot us. Ok that s the plan now we have to do that, Darcy muttered.
Ok the water slide jets turn on in five minutes so we have five minutes to find a hiding spot. It would
be a good idea to hide near the rafts so that we can grab one straight away and run up the stairs Darcy
said .

Why Security Personnel Should Act
Abstract For traditional computer vision methods the analysis of motion and behaviors in crowded
scenes constitutes a challenging task, as barriers like occlusions, varying crowd densities and complex
stochastic nature of their motions are difficult to overcome. As it has to be kept within reasonable
limits, the one more complicating factor is the computational cost. It is very crucial to analyze
crowded scenes in real time, or at least fast as possible, in many practical situations, considering the
fact that security personnel should act quickly if something seems to be unusual . Anomalous is a
problem which is not fitting into a familiar type, classification or pattern. HOS (Histogram of Oriented
Swarm) is used for detecting and localizing anomalous events in videos of crowded scenes. HOS
together with the HOG (Histogram of Oriented Gradient) are combined to give a descriptor that helps
to effectively characterize each scene. The occurrences of gradient orientation in localized portion of
images can be count by this technique. The HOS descriptor analyses and localizes the anomalous and
normal events separately. Key word Anomalous Event,Gradient, HOS, HOG, 1. Introduction The use
of surveillance systems in roads, stations, malls, traffic or airports has led to a huge amount of data
that needs to be analyzed for safety, retrieval or even commercial reasons. The task of automatically
detecting frames with anomalous events from long duration video sequences has concerned

Rifled Musket Research Paper
Rifled Musket Componenet Overview During the Civil War, rifled muskets were all the rage. The
Rifled Musket was adopted by the U.S. Army in 1858. These new type of muskets had grooves inside
of the barrel, meaning that if this gun was partnered with the Minié ball, it would increase both the
range and the accuracy of the bullet. The smooth bore musket (the previous generation of muskets) did
not have grooves in the barrel. This means that the bullet is not spinning as it exits and there is a
margin of error depending where the bullet exits. This severely reduces the accuracy of a smooth bore
musket. The farther the bullet goes, the more off target it travels because of the aforementioned margin
of error. The Minié ball had grooves and had

Gilligan s Theory Of Moral Development In Antigone By...
How does one ultimately make the difference between what is morally right and wrong? Lawrence
Kohlberg, a psychologist, and his student, Carol Gilligan, developed two variations of a theory that
classifies people based on their perceptions of what is right or wrong. Kohlberg s theory ranks people
based on their understanding of universal principles and ethics, while Gilligan s theory focuses more
on the differences between moralities between men and women. These theories can be applied to the
characters of Antigone, a Greek play by Sophocles that tells the story of a woman transgressing the
king s orders by burying her brother s body after he dies in battle. In Sophocles s Greek tragedy
Antigone, Creon undergoes a dynamic change in his sense of morality based on his classification on
the scales in Kohlberg s Theory of Moral Development, Gilligan s Ethics of Care Theory, and a
general scale of morality; however his low initial morals hold him responsible for the deaths of his
loved ones.
Creon s morality at the beginning of the play ranks on the lower end of Kohlberg s Theory of Moral
Development and Gilligan s Ethics of Care Theory. For example, in the introductory scene of the play,
Creon tells the Chorus, ... whoever shows by word and deed that he is on the side of the state he shall
have my respect while he is living and my reverence when he is dead (1.1.52 55). His statement
proves that the refuses to acknowledge anyone who does not serve his purposes. This implies

The Importance Of A Unified Communication Application
Communication within an organization is very important for keeping people informed, updated and
help move the organization forward. Cost of operations within a company is the top item that
companies work to reduce. A unified communication application is a means to help in the reduction of
operating costs.
A unified communications application like Skype has three main functions and a couple additional
abilities that can be used in a one to one interaction or a conference type interaction. Skype has the
ability to provide instant messenger, audio and/or video to users and provides a means for multiple
participants. The three features can be used simultaneously or in different combinations. The instant
messenger feature can be used for a quick note to another user or users and the recipient(s) do not
need to be at the computer when the message is sent (Figure 1). The time needed to send an instant
messenger message is real time which is much less than a normal email, which reduces time. Skype
instant messenger comes in handy when a user does not want to interrupt a meeting by calling or
wasting time going by Alice s office, Bob could send a quick instant messenger note to Alice to see if
they are available for a discussion.
The audio function is similar to a standard phone call with one exception. The normal operation
entails retrieving or typing in the phone number of a person s office, home, mobile or Skype number
and pressing the off hook button just like most

Text Analytics And Natural Language Processing
IV. SENTIMENT ANALYSIS A. The Sentiment analysis process i) Collection of data ii) Preparation
of the text iii) Detecting the sentiments iv) Classifying the sentiment v) Output i) Collection of data:
the first step in sentiment analysis involves collection of data from user. These data are disorganized,
expressed in different ways by using different vocabularies, slangs, context of writing etc. Manual
analysis is almost impossible. Therefore, text analytics and natural language processing are used to
extract and classify[11]. ii) Preparation of the text : This step involves cleaning of the extracted data
before analyzing it. Here non textual and irrelevant content for the analysis are identified and
discarded iii) Detecting the sentiments: All the extracted sentences of the views and opinions are
studied. From this sentences with subjective expressions which involves opinions, beliefs and view are
retained back whereas sentences with objective communication i.e facts, factual information are
discarded iv) Classifying the sentiment: Here, subjective sentences are classified as positive, negative,
or good, bad or like, dislike[1] v) Output: The main objective of sentiment analysis is to convert
unstructured text into meaningful data. When the analysis is finished, the text results are displayed on
graphs in the form of pie chart, bar chart and line graphs. Also time can be analyzed and can be
graphically displayed constructing a sentiment time line with the chosen

The, Beauty And The Beast, By Dave Barry

Brainwashed
Throughout their lives, women of all ages are constantly being bombarded with advertisements
convincing them they must meet an ideal of the perfect body image. This is all thanks to companies
that share a common goal to influence the mainstream population into believing they need to purchase
certain products in order to compare to the impossible standards set by the beauty industry. In Dave
Barry s Beauty and the Beast he displays that it is planted in young girls minds that they need to look,
dress, feel, and even act a certain way. However, men aren t as affected by these capitalistic marketing
schemes. In short, the media has affected the way women think of themselves. These influences of bad
habits are all around us. There are four major categories of mass media to control what we see
everywhere we go. Broadcast media is what we see on television, or in movies and hear on the radio.
Another major form of media is Digital media which allows mass communication all over the world
via the internet. The internet is one of the largest and most easily accessible forms of mass media
comprised through emails, social media. and various websites. Outdoor media is what we see when
we re on the road or walking through the mall. It s all around us! Outdoor media consists of billboards,

Not only having magical powers, Prospero displays another type of power, his power over his slaves. Prospero s way of treating his slaves differs when he orders them to do something. Caliban having a mean and violent relationship, while Ariel has an obligated and forceful relationship with Prospero. Prospero and Caliban s relationship is portrayed as the more dominant character having power over and abusing the weaker with violence. On the island, Prospero comes off as a very controlling and dominant person, due to the way he acts with Caliban by calling him his slave. Hence Caliban s name meaning earthy , Prospero ... • 3. Kosinski s Being There and the Existential Anti-Hero... Kosinski s Being There and the Existential Anti Hero Critics have referred to Kosinski s Being There as his worst novel. Perhaps, Kosinski s prosaic style is deceptive in its apparent simplicity (especially when contrasted with The Painted Bird). What Kosinski seeks to do, as Welch D. Everman relates, is to stimulate the reader s recreative and imaginative task by offering only the essentials...Kosinski s style draws the reader into the incident by refusing to allow him to remain passive (25). This essay will propose that Being There is a major existential work following in the tradition of Sartre and Camus in which Chance, the main protagonist, mirrors Camus s Mersault in A Happy Death and in which Koskinski demonstrates ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Chance has been given his name because he had been born by chance , yet as Everman shows, this is true of everyone, and so his given name is hardly a name at all....In addition, he loses this rather tenuous name early in the book... and therefore is without a real name (63). Furthermore, no one in the book exists without some type of tangible record proving existence. When Mr. Franklin, the Old Man s executor, interrogates Chance, he seeks commodified proof of Chance s existence; he asks for, among other items, a checkbook, driver s license, insurance card, tax forms. Chance, encountering the existential dilemma, the quest for identity, counters: you have me. I am here. What more proof do you need (18)? Of course, mere existence proves useless and Chance is excommunicated from his beloved garden. Why does a writer who displays such brilliant technical skills and prosaic style resort to utilizing such a one dimensional character? Perhaps Koskinski has simply found the next logical step in the chain of psychological evolution. Yet, rather than the natural heir to Benji Compson, Chance is, instead, the natural descendent of Patrice Mersault. After Nietzsche declared God dead, we spent the next half century in an angst ridden frenzy. Sartre, Beckett, and Camus best exemplify this condition in their writings. Camus s Mersualt (perhaps the predecessor to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. The Importance Of Animal Rights Have you ever considered the rights of animals? Do they have any rights?.According to an article called Animal Rights it is proven that if animals had rights there wouldn t be no experiments on animals, no breeding and killing of animals for food however, all of these examples are sadly used today that provides evidence to prove that animals do not have rights. To emphasise that animals do not have rights, it is also proven in the book Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban with animals such as Crookshanks and Buckbeak that do not have animal rights due to the facts that both animals are misjudged and automatically assumed guilty when something wrong occurs or when an accusation is made and both are treated with no respect. Crookshanks and Buckbeak do not have rights as a result of the two being misjudged and automatically assumed guilty when something goes wrong, unable to defend themselves they are treated with a punishment or treated unjustly after the accusation is made. For example in the book Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban Buckbeak is taken to a lesson with Hagrid and Hagrid clearly states to his students that hippogriffs are easily offended. When its Malfoy turn, he decides to say that Buckbeak is a great ugly brute and Buckbeak reacts, later Malfoy goes on to fake an injury and tells his father. The situation becomes so serious that it is taken to the Committee for the Disposal of Dangerous Creatures where one of the members ... • 5. How Does Napoleon Use Language In Animal Farm In Animal Farm the power of language is displayed. The pigs use language to manipulate other animals on the farm. Snowball, Napoleon, and Squealer both have different ways of using language to convince the other animals what they say is right. The animals could not make up their minds which was right indeed, they always found themselves in agreement with the one who was speaking at the moment (66). Snowball, Napoleon, and Squealer were all successful at manipulating the animals. Snowball and Napoleon disagree about everything in the meetings. Snowball, often won over the majority by his brilliant speeches (63). Snowball was a more influential and better speaker than Napoleon. He convinced the animals that building a windmill would be beneficial to their farm. He proved to the animals that he had a plan. I ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Several of them would have protested if they could have found the right arguments (69). The animals would have protested, but they were too scared of Napoleon. Squealer also manipulates language. He explained to the animals that Snowball was a criminal. He says that they need a leader with discipline. Surely, comrades, you do not want Jones back? Here Squealer first says comrades to show that he is on their side. He then makes the animals afraid by saying that Mr. Jones would come back if Napoleon was not the leader. Without a disciplined and obedient leader, Jones might return. Squealer is making it seem like he is defending their freedom. • 6. Fraud In Psychiatric Therapy Have you ever had a little brother or sister go through all of your belongings and find money and end up stealing it, knowing they were doing wrong. Just because this happened to you when you were younger does not mean that it can not happen to you when you are an adult. A Boston area psychiatrist, for example, forfeited $1.3 million and was sentenced to several years in federal prison following his late 1990s conviction on 136 counts of mail fraud, money laundering and witness intimidation related to his fraudulent billing of several health insurers for psychiatric therapy sessions that never took place using the names and insurance information of many people whom he actually had never met, let alone treated. (He also went so far as to write fictitious longhand session notes to ensure phony backup for his phony claims.) (Webinar) Fraud is something that can happen on any level where a crime can be committed by a person, knowing they are doing it and still getting away with it or by accident knowing that their actions were innocuous, either way fraud is fraud and as sad as it is to say, it happens every day by millions of people, not just the IRS. (Goldberg) A key word in that sentence is intentional. By definition, if you accidentally, and thus unintentionally commit fraud, you should be safe from reprimand. • 7. Dictatorism In The Hunger Games Allowing people to get their needs for food and entertainment, without too much effort on them, was what many different dictatorial societies did to control their communities for certain periods of time, in the past. This was also dictatorial society s method to gain control over the districts and the Capitol s people of the country called Panem in The Hunger Games trilogy of young adult dystopian novels written by American novelist Suzanne Collins. These games were an entertainment that provided a place for the Capitol s riches to spend time and money in abundance, a dusty page reminiscent of capitol s victory in the war against districts, and a coercion to show off the capitol s power. Hunger Games were very popular in districts as well as in the Capitol. People in the Capitol loved hunger games because it was so exciting and breathtaking. Every year tributes came from other districts in train and Capitol people waited there for them. Cheering, shouting for the new hunger games, a game that they enjoy others death. The people begin to point at us eagerly as they recognize a tribute train rolling into the city. I step away from the window, sickened by their excitement, knowing they can t wait to watch us die (Collins 59). • 8. Spotless Mind Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind Essay If you could erase any memories you wanted, would you? The connection between our memories and our ability to feel joy is very closely related. Recalling memories are something we do multiple times every day. Memories are a place where emotions, feelings, experiences, and who we are as a person reside. Without our memories, we would be very different than how we are right now. Many times we find ourselves wishing we could forget certain things, but we do not realize that if we wouldn t have the knowledge and the growth we gained from it happening in the first place. In the movie Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind we see how sometimes what we think we want is very different then what we actually ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... There is not one memory that anyone can recall that they won t feel any sort of emotion for rather good or bad. Joy and sadness are the two main emotions we feel when we recall memories. We can t have one without the other. When we remember things they are broken up into good and bad memories. For example, when something horrible happens to us like a break up mostly all the memories which were once joyful will then become sad. Those now sad memories have the ability to affect the way you feel in everyday life. This is where memories can be a bad thing, say in a year I meet someone new I could easily run away and hide because I fear what happened to me before might happen again because I remember the pain I felt. On the other hand, how can I experience joy if I don t remember what pain feels like. This might seem like a funny concept, but if we lived in a world where we could forget all the bad things that have happened and some of the good things we would not know what real joy feels like cause we would always just be stuck in the same ... Eric Foner American Freedom Summary Response to Eric Foner on American Freedom Foner emphasizes on the diverse interpretations of freedom, and based on people s lived experiences within American society, it can represent different things. Since it has no fixed definition within the article, Foner views freedom as a concept and states by its very nature is the subject of disagreement (xiv). People s worldview can help shape what freedom means to them and it may limit what freedom means to others. Although the Declaration of Independence promotes all humans having unalienable rights given by the creator, which are life , liberty and the pursuit of happiness, not all americans are able to enjoy those rights in American society. As American societal norms constantly change (eventually), ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This approach is a way to miss and dismiss the point of Blacks actually discussing the critical state their community is in. The focus is not black lives over other s lives in the world, but is it the focus of the neglect of black lives, when taken away, they are not viewed with disgust as when their white counterparts die/are harassed in the same manner. It s weirdly interesting that when Blacks are literally killed for following the law and are unarmed, they are blamed for their own death, all because a cop feared for their life. Once officers say that phrase, which I view as a cliché to say when one signs up for such a fearful job, cases are usually wrapped up and forgotten about. However, thanks to social media, the public is able to see the hideous lies and blatant truth about certain cases that highlight why the people have a problem with the government and distrust the police. Oddly as all Americans are forced to pay taxes, these taxes go to public necessities like schools, to fire stations and to the police station, even to wars. Sadly I interpret it as the government focuses Blacks to pay police to kill their people off, and the government seems to always instantly support the officer s word over the victim (if still alive), and people. But one book that I read in my summer reading assignment is Red Queen. This book s theme was so intriguing. Usually, books have themes like friendship, love, and kindness. But the Red Queen had a very interesting theme. The theme of this book was trust and betrayal. Maven. I don t know whether to scream or run when I see my betrothed appear from the shadows. He s a prince, he s Silver, he s the enemy, and yet, here he is, standing with one of the leaders of the Scarlet Guard. His companion Holland, an aging Red servant with years of service behind him, seems to swell with pride. She steps toward us, gun in hand, but she s just as nervous as he is. Still, her voice does not shake. I want to hear it from your lips, little prince. Tell me what you told him, she says tipping her head toward Holland. Maven sneers at little prince, his lips curving in distaste, but he doesn t snap at her. I want to join the Guard, he says, his voice full of conviction. She moves quickly, cocking the pistol and taking aim in the same motion. My heart seems to stop when she presses the barrel to his forehead, but Maven doesn t flinch. Why? she hisses. Because the world is wrong. What my father has done, what my brother will do, is wrong. He is a prince and, worst of all, the queen s son. Kandel s article The New Science of Mind describes how scientist are now able to describe the way brain processes are linked to mental disorders. I recall learning about the different functions of the parts of the brain in anatomy class. The hypothalamus regulates important body s systems, the amygdala has to do with our emotions, the hippocampus helps us remember things, and the prefrontal cortex which enables personality expression and moderates social behavior, as Kandel portrays in his research. • 13. Endangered Animals The world is facing many serious issues in this day and time. One of the major one is endangered species. These organisms are living on the edge of extinction. There are many things that threaten these species like loss of habitat, lack of food, hunting and many more. The victim of this horrendous crime against living organisms is the fastest running mammal called Cheetah, scientifically known as Acinonyx jubatus . Cheetahs are true carnivores which means they depend on meat for survival. They use high speed to easily hunt their prey. Primary diet of cheetah consists of springbok, ostriches, impala, deer, gazelles, warthogs, birds, hares, young zebras etc. These animals tend to target younglings because of the greater rate of success. And while hunting these species like to stalk their prey for 10 50m and then start sprinting towards it. During this time frame, their bodies are under immense strain and pressure as a result their body temperature rises to its highest. These mammals live in the dry grasslands of sub Saharan Africa, and in eastern and southern parks. Some can also be found in southern Algeria, northern Niger and Iran. Today Namibia has the largest population of cheetahs living in Africa. It is very hard to believe that these species use to roam around nearly all of Africa and much of Asia, but now they are driven out of 91% of its historic range. Apart from law and order there were many other problems in mining towns. The majority of the population were males and built their own cabins, this meant they were probably not very good or safe. Also they did there own cooking, which probably wasn t the best diet and probably got food poisoning often. There was an epidemic of typhoid in fall and early winter but there were no deaths, which show there were healthy and strong. The houses had no drains and most houses were badly kept so the houses were most likely dirty. The problems of law and order in early western towns can be studied using the sources these show lots of lawlessness in towns and murdering. One source shows a bank robbery, this is proof that the towns did not have any policing. The source shows also that a few vigilantes on the scene, further proof that the towns were lawless. Vigilantes were present because of the lack of law that there was in the towns. They felt it necessary that law had to be imposed on the town other wise it could fall apart. Another source shows a notice from vigilantes pinned to a man hung for murder. This is useful because it shows the vigilantes taken the law into there own hands. It also states the reasons for the vigilantes forming, it tells us that life and security is too sacred to not be protected so they will resort to these means even if it means killing ... While it is true that Romanelli told Schor not to open the account, Romanelli s actions would imply that Schor did have authority to act on Romanelli s behalf. Romanelli gave Schor authority to conduct business for him when he hired Schor as his accountant and financial adviser (Melvin Katz, 2015, p.321). Schor was also given a corporate resolution that gives someone the authority to act on behalf of the corporation (Investopedia, 2015). It is unknown what the corporate resolution was for, but since Romanelli had given it to Schor along with other documents pertaining to the opening of a bank account, it is safe to assume that it had to do with giving Schor authority to open the account on Romanelli s behalf. Even though Schor was told not to open the account, he can claim that he had been given authority at one time to open it. Although Romanelli did not win his case against Citibank, he does have a couple of remedies against Schor. These include the ability to seek damages from Schor for the amount that Schor had embezzled. Romanelli could also fire Schor for breach of duty. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Evaluation Of A Teacher Classroom Management Plan Evaluation Clinical Cooperating Teacher Classroom Management Plan Evaluation Positive reinforcement plays a major role in the classroom management plan in my cooperating teacher s classroom. In this fourth grade class, students are grouped in groups of four or five who work as a team to earn marbles. Each group has a marble jar on their storage shelf in their group where the teacher will add a variety of different sized marbles. Students can earn marbles for following directions, answering questions, paying attention, helping others, being a good listener, and many other positive behaviors and good choices. Different size marbles represent a different amount of tickets that students can earn to use to purchase rewards. Some rewards include a free homework pass, lunch with a friend, lunch with the teacher; sit in the rocking chair during reading time, or choosing a prize from the prize box. As I observed the class, I realized this system works really well for this group of students. The teacher would give the class directions. For example, please get out your math journals and a pencil. The teacher did not have to say anything about earning marbles. All she did was gather a handful of marbles, begin walking around the room looking for a group who was following direction and ready to work. Once she spotted a group doing what was asked, she placed the marbles in their jar. She followed the steps until she was out of marbles. Students were ready to work fast. The clink ... Subjective Well-Being Essay According to Freud s conclusion based on decades of experimentation and theoretical work in the field of psychotherapy, humans cannot be happy because a satisfaction of needs creates only a momentary phase of happiness which expires after some time. Therefore, the focus of life should not be obtaining happiness, and people should focus on avoiding suffering instead (Bullock, n.d.). Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Perhaps from a mental health perspective, people who pursue money because of unrealistic goals can suffer from more stress and impair their mental health more significantly than people who pursue money for realistic goals. Furthermore, several cross sectional studies support the economic paradigm that money is positively correlated with happiness (Gardner Oswald, 2007). Although cross sectional studies have many weaknesses, Gardener and Oswald (2007) agree with those conclusions because their longitudinal study found that a windfall of money has the same positive effect on happiness and lower mental stress. In other words, if people achieve financial success, their motivation will be fulfilled. Although happiness achieved by high income levels is unstable and completely dependent on the income level, it is not possible to define financial security as more stable than happiness if people lose their income. Unrealistic money making motivations appear to be unstable, but realistic motivations are not more stable than unrealistic ones. Because income is connected with both types of motivations, all money making goals are achieved by creating income, and all goals are lost by losing income. It is apparently not possible to generalize conclusions based on negative correlations. If research proves that certain motives are in a negative correlation with subjective well being, it will ... Writings on riba have been extensively concerned with the expositions of riba, but with disquisitions about riba. Thought about riba, and any other Qur anic penetrative codes, must be a story of movements in outlook and ever changing ideas, and developments taking place in contemporary social sciences. Its province is destined by God, may he be exalted, in a way to be determined and re determined in the course of time by drawing insights from different branches of human science. The subject of riba, and other divine codes in Qur an regarding dealings and transactions is such that no cohesive delineation of the scope can be regarded as final. Some of needless difficulties that have arisen in a proper interpretation of riba are of linguistic origin. The jurist s business is with words. Words are not only tools of thought, but also control it. Accordingly, to think profitably about riba will be assisted by a sharpened awareness of possibilities of language, not only to lead thought but also to mislead it. This paves the ground on which the Islamic jurists adherence to their predecessors grasp of riba is questioned. • 29. Why Security Personnel Should Act Abstract For traditional computer vision methods the analysis of motion and behaviors in crowded scenes constitutes a challenging task, as barriers like occlusions, varying crowd densities and complex stochastic nature of their motions are difficult to overcome. As it has to be kept within reasonable limits, the one more complicating factor is the computational cost. It is very crucial to analyze crowded scenes in real time, or at least fast as possible, in many practical situations, considering the fact that security personnel should act quickly if something seems to be unusual . Anomalous is a problem which is not fitting into a familiar type, classification or pattern. HOS (Histogram of Oriented Swarm) is used for detecting and localizing anomalous events in videos of crowded scenes. HOS together with the HOG (Histogram of Oriented Gradient) are combined to give a descriptor that helps to effectively characterize each scene. These new type of muskets had grooves inside of the barrel, meaning that if this gun was partnered with the Minié ball, it would increase both the range and the accuracy of the bullet. The smooth bore musket (the previous generation of muskets) did not have grooves in the barrel. This means that the bullet is not spinning as it exits and there is a margin of error depending where the bullet exits. This severely reduces the accuracy of a smooth bore musket. • 31. Gilligan s Theory Of Moral Development In Antigone By... How does one ultimately make the difference between what is morally right and wrong? Lawrence Kohlberg, a psychologist, and his student, Carol Gilligan, developed two variations of a theory that classifies people based on their perceptions of what is right or wrong. Kohlberg s theory ranks people based on their understanding of universal principles and ethics, while Gilligan s theory focuses more on the differences between moralities between men and women. These theories can be applied to the characters of Antigone, a Greek play by Sophocles that tells the story of a woman transgressing the king s orders by burying her brother s body after he dies in battle. In Sophocles s Greek tragedy Antigone, Creon undergoes a dynamic change in his sense of morality based on his classification on the scales in Kohlberg s Theory of Moral Development, Gilligan s Ethics of Care Theory, and a general scale of morality; however his low initial morals hold him responsible for the deaths of his loved ones. Creon s morality at the beginning of the play ranks on the lower end of Kohlberg s Theory of Moral Development and Gilligan s Ethics of Care Theory.
