Essay On Qualities Of A Good Friend
Writing an essay on the qualities of a good friend may initially seem like a straightforward task,
as the concept of friendship is familiar to most. However, the difficulty lies in navigating the
fine balance between personal experiences and universal traits that define a good friend. Crafting
an essay that resonates with a broad audience while infusing it with personal anecdotes requires
careful consideration.
Firstly, one must delve into the complexities of human relationships and the multifaceted nature
of friendship. The challenge is to present a nuanced perspective that goes beyond clichГ©s and
explores the depth of emotions and actions that characterize true friendship. Balancing general
observations with specific instances makes the essay relatable, yet it demands a delicate touch to
avoid becoming overly sentimental or detached.
Another difficulty arises in maintaining a coherent structure throughout the essay. The qualities
of a good friend are diverse, ranging from trustworthiness and loyalty to empathy and support.
Organizing these qualities in a logical sequence while ensuring a smooth transition between
paragraphs demands a thoughtful approach to composition.
Moreover, incorporating a personal touch without veering into self-indulgence is a tightrope
walk. While anecdotes can add authenticity and depth to the essay, they should serve the
purpose of illustrating broader points rather than overshadowing the universal qualities of a good
friend.
In conclusion, writing an essay on the qualities of a good friend is challenging due to the need to
balance personal experiences with universal truths, maintain a coherent structure, and infuse the
piece with authenticity without becoming overly sentimental. Successfully navigating these
challenges results in an essay that not only resonates with the reader but also captures the
essence of what it means to be a good friend.

A Brief History of Time Summary Essay
Theoretical Physics, a modern topic of science with an extremely deterring sound
and famous for being beyond complex, is a subject which cannot be explained with
ease. Stephen Hawking, the most famous living scientist today, wrote A Brief
History of Time in 1988, updated in 1996, in order to take upon this daunting task of
explaining basic theoretical physicsto a population who had previously barely studied
any science. Within A Brief History of Time, Hawking touches upon seven topics in
depth while easily explaining them in a simple manner: our picture of the universe,
space and time, the expanding universe, the uncertainty principle, elementary
particles and the forces of nature, black holes, and the origin and fate of the universe.

Thus, the ether was created. Albert Einstein proposed though that the ether was not
needed, for objects do not have to be at absolute rest as long as there was no
absolute time. Thus, the theory of relativity was developed. In his discussion of
light, Hawking cites that light is described by a cone. The top of the cone
represents the future path of light, the bottom half of the cone represents the past
path of the light, while the central vertex represents the actual light. In the third
chapter, Hawking takes upon the continuous and accelerated expansion of the
universe. In order to prove this, he uses the Doppler shift which is almost identical
to the Doppler Effect. In sound, the Doppler Effect creates an increasingly louder
sound as the event approaches us, and then as the event moves away the sound
begins to dull. In light the same basis applies, but with a color shift. Blue shifting
and red shifting are the opposite effects of the Doppler shift . When objects are
moving away from us, their light is shifted in the red direction on the
electromagnetic spectrum. Inversely, as objects approach us; their light is shifted in
the blue direction. Hawking uses this to prove the expansion of the universe, for
many stars found by Edwin Hubble, of whom the Hubble telescope is named after,
are observed to be red shifted. Thus, Hawking cites the
Literary Criticism Of Ethan Frome By Edith Wharton
Literary Criticism of Ethan Frome
The novel Ethan Frome written by Edith Wharton is a classic novel of the early
1900 s. Wharton created a novel that is only fully comprehended in the cold winter
months with snow swirling outside your home as you read with a cup of hot tea to
warm you. It is an icy writing, with many different thoughts to extract from it. A main
theme in this novel is society and morality are obstacles to the fulfillment of
desire(SparkNotes: Ethan Frome Themes.) I agree with this yet I argue the main
theme is that your circumstances determine your contentment. Through the stifling
force of winter, Ethan s alternating moods based mainly off of Mattie, and Zeena s
disappearing illnesses, it will be proven that their circumstances determined their
contentment. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Zeena nurses his mother as she was dying, Zeena falling ill after they got married,

DETERMINING THE EQUIVALENT MASS AND DISSOCIATION CONSTANT
OF AN UNKNOWN WEAK ACID BY TITRIMETRY
INTRODUCTION
Acids are substances that donate hydrogen ions and bases are substances that accept
hydrogen ions. Acids and bases react with each other by transferring hydrogen ions.
One way to distinguish an acid is by its equivalent mass, which is the number of
grams of the acid needed to transfer one mole of hydrogen ion to a base. For a
monoprotic acid, which only transfers one hydrogen ion, its equivalent mass equals
its molar mass. For a diprotic acid, which transfers two hydrogen ions, its equivalent
mass equals half its molar mass. The equivalent mass of a base is simply the number
of grams required to accept one mole of hydrogen ... Show more content on

The number of equivalents of acid titrated was equal to the equivalents of NaOH.
Finally, to find the equivalent mass of the acid, I divided the mass of the acid used
by the number of equivalents of acid. Using my numbers, 0.2152 g / 2.58 x 10 3
equiv. = 83.41 g/equiv.
DISCUSSION/CONCLUSIONS
Looking at the table in the lab book, the acid with the closest pKa to my calculated
pKa is trans crotonic. It has a pKa of 4.69 while my calculated pKa was 4.62. I feel
that these numbers are very close, as the percent error is only 1.49%. The percent
error for my calculated equivalent mass of the acid is also small at 3.11%. Error
could have come from reading the graph, as I had to estimate the equivalence point. I
should have taken measurements at smaller intervals when approaching the inflection
point. This would have allowed me to read the graph more accurately. Error could
have also come from the pH meter, which may not have been calibrated precisely.
Lastly, error could have resulted if I inaccurately read the buret while recording the
Black Culture And The Black Experience
Introduction
It is said that seeing is believing but that depends on the source vision . If one does
not experience first hand they see through another medium which is often film and
television. Film is one of the reasons black culture and the black experience is
misunderstood and filled with fabricated beliefs. African Americans have been
involved in Hollywood films since film earliest forms in the early 20th century. In
these early films African Americans was showed in a damaging unpleasant way.

Brief History of African American Roles in Film
African Americans have had a long history in the American motion picture industry.
Early depictions of African American men and women were limited to demeaning
stereotypical images of people of color. During the first decades of the 20th century,
many films depicted idealized vision of life in the South. These films glorified the
image of the Old South .African American characters, in keeping with the dominant
stereotypes, were portrayed as incompetent, child like, hyper sexualized, and criminal.
Even the roles for African Americans such as loyal servants, mammies, and butlers
reinforced a belief that the proper social position for Blacks was that of a servant
who was unswervingly devoted to his/her White masters and to upholding the current
social order.
The growing momentum of the Civil Rights Movement brought more changes in
Hollywood around the 1950s black were beginning to gain more screen time. The
1970s was the Blaxploitation era this films were originally made specifically for an
urban black audience, starring black actors in key

When using an Epsom salt, the two minerals (sulfate and magnesium) operate
together in order to wipe out the toxins out of our body through the skin.
Furthermore, these two minerals are absorbed into the skin to enhance the body s

Baroness Emmuska Orczy s The Scarlet Pimpernel
Charles I of England was sentenced to death by guillotine in 1649 due to his
crimes. Similarly to the once loved king, many aristocrats during the French
Revolution faced this same dreadful fate. Throughout The Scarlet Pimpernel this is
shown numerous times. In 1792 during this Revolution, France was taken over.
Many Aristocrats attempted to escape their executions but were hopelessly
blocked by barricades around the city. Baroness Emmuska Orczy uses suspense,
heroism, and conflict to show the true strength of her fictional character, the
Scarlet Pimpernel. Although this is only a disguise, it s no secret that the Scarlet
Pimpernel embodies a hero and stands up for the people of France. The Pimpernel
s true name is Sir Percy Blakeney. The novel focuses on his suspense filled
adventures in attempts to save the aristocrats as he disguises himself as peasants,
old Jews, and more. Blakeney was given his name because, upon leaving the scene
of escape, he would leave behind a note signed with a red, star shaped flower, In
England, this flower was known as the scarlet pimpernel. Although the richest man in
England and an epic hero, of course, Blakeney is known to be quite dull and... Show

The major plot of the book is built around the disguise of the Scarlet Pimpernel.
Unlike your average hero, he becomes successful through with and deception.
Without his disguise, a spot on the guillotine would have been easily arranged for
him. However, the disguise blended him in with the masses, preventing his execution.
Another major theme of the novel is nobility versus the masses. During the French
Revolution, nobility was under fire and killed haphazardly by the bloodthirsty
masses. The masses were created to be very barbaric in order to give the nobility a
sense of compassion and elegance. Keep in mind that these personas were not exactly
accurate, but they drastically enhanced her

of either the capitalist block, led by USA or the Socialist block led by the former
USSR. In that global division of Africa and Arab Countries, both Ethiopia and the
Gulf Arab Countries was strong adherent with the capitalist block. Both enjoyed
American and West European political patronage and protection. Thus imperial
Ethiopia and the Gulf Arab Countries were partners against the spread of socialist
and radical political ideas in this part of the world (Hoynes 1993).
Surprisingly, their strong and pro capitalist political alliance did not led to significant
involvement of the rich Gulf Arab Countries in Ethiopian economic development
during the rule of Emperor Haile Sillassie. We are not very sure about the rate of
involvement Gulf Arab countries in other African Countries during the same period.
But it is still very curious to know the reasons for complete absence of GCC Arab
Countries investment in the Imperial Ethiopia.
One may assume that the political crisis that erupted after formal abolition of the
federal status of Eritrea in 1962 ignited resentment and anger in the Arab World
including the Gulf Arab Countries (Bahru, 1991). The Eritrean Federal status,
prescribed by the UN General Assembly provided that Arabic would be the second
official language Muslims of Eritrea would enjoy full fleshed equality in both cultural
and political terms. Thus the abolition of the Federal status could evoke anger and
frustration in Eritrea and the neighboring Muslim Arab World.
Loss of Innocence in Truman Capote s In Cold Blood Essay
All things truly wicked start from an innocence, states Ernest Hemingway on his
view of innocence. Innocence, what every youth possesses, is more accurately
described as a state of unknowing but not ignorance which connotation suggests a
blissfully positive view of the world. Most youth are protected from the harsh
realities of the adult world. Therefore they are able to maintain their state of
innocence. While innocence normally wanes over time, sometimes innocence can be
abruptly taken away. Some of the characters in Truman Capotes In Cold Bloodlost
their innocence due to the traumatic events they experienced in childhood and
adulthood while some had none to begin with.
Innocence can be stolen but the desire to return to the ... Show more content on

Parents are supposed to shelter their children from the fraudulent outside world and
keep their purity intact. Perry Smith, murderer of the Clutter family, had an
upbringing that was marked by brutality and lack of concern on the part of both
parents. Due to his childhood he seems to have grown up without direction, and
without ever having absorbed any fixed sense of moral values. He felt no regret
for murdering the family, only that he felt sorry that they were the ones that ... had
to pay for it. While Dick considered Perry as innocent, he had never been with a
woman , he believed Perry was a natural born killer who attaches little real value to
human life . Perry s tragic upbringing had turned him into a cold blooded killer
unaware of the beauty of innocence, which he so easily stole from the Clutter family
the moment he killed them. Innocent people cannot be protected from the individual
whose innocence is not present.
If innocence is not present in an individual it cannot be protected. An individual of
this kind makes choices that effect how corrupt they can become. Dick Hickock had
a loving family, who supported and loved him as he grew up. Even though he was in
a nurturing environment that protected him from the corrupt society around him, he
still became a criminal. This shows that innocence, if not present in the first place,
cannot be salvaged. After passing hot checks he was put in jail where his jealousy of
Socialism In The United States
The logistical system through which all goods and services are distributed and
carried out is of concern to everyone within it. In the United States, through our
esteemed representative democracy, we stifle this concern by giving the citizen a
choice between two right wing, capitalist parties. As a nation our propaganda
attacks one party states, but is this only to accentuate the difference between us and
them? Is it truly better to be given the choice between two parties over just one to a
citizen whose policies do not fall anywhere between, or is it an example of a failure
of our education system to curtail the free thought of an individual to the extent
where their political ideals cannot be labeled as liberal or conservative? Socialism...

More recently it seems that most profit lies in company wide specialization, and the
avant garde of most industries lies entirely in individual companies working
towards their own goals. In fact, recently competition has been avoided amongst
very large companies, as it is more profitable to exploit the consumer by limiting
their options. When the consumer has few to no options, there is little incentive to
invest in the improvement of services. Capitalism can be both a catalyst and a
hinderance for improvements, and it would be disingenuous to assume socialism
couldn t at least match capitalism in this regard. For example in socialistic societies,
financial sustainability wouldn t be a concern for freelance or employed thinkers.
The idea that capitalism is holistically superior innovatively stems from capitalism s
omnipresence on a global scale. The ex post facto attribution of innovative
technology to capitalism is a post hoc ergo propter hoc
Thomas Paine And His Father
Philosopher Thomas Paine Thomas Paine was born in Norfolk, England on
January 29, 1737 to a middle income family. His father was a Quaker while his
mother was an Anglican, therefore, constant family arguments about religion
became part of Thomas life (Stanford Encyclopedia of Philosophy 2). He did not
have much of formal education as he quit schooling at the age of thirteen years and
began working for his father. He was baptized in the Anglican Church that his
mother attended. His father had forbidden him from learning the Latin language
while he was in school though he wanted to learn it. His father specialized in craft
staymaking and this was the skill that Thomas learned while working for his father
(Stanford Encyclopedia of Philosophy 2). Thomas had tried running away from
home twice, failing in his first escape, but was successful in the second. He
escaped to London and then went to Margate where he continued to work as a
craft staymaker. He also preached in a church called Methodist persuasion. It was
during this time that he married Mary Lambert who died during childbirth
(Stanford Encyclopedia of Philosophy 2). Several incidents had a significant
impact on the life of Thomas such as working as an officer in an excise service,
teaching in a school in London, as well as being appointed a member of the
debating society at the Headstrong Club. Thomas later married Elizabeth Ollive in
the year 1771. Thomas died on 8th June 1809 in Greenwich Village in New York

The Effects Of Special Needs On Children
Special needs kids are not sick or gross. They only want to be accepted. They want
to feel normal. They cannot help the way they were born. People who have never
dealt with special needs children do not see what they go through on a daily basis.
One out of every 10 children under the age of 14 has some type of special need.
Which includes any medical disability, chronic or life threatening illness. The
children and parents both deal with emotional battles. The parents are more tired,
emotionally and physically than a parent without a special need kid. They feel
alone, because raising a special needs kid is very challenging and takes a lot more
effort. They are scared because they do not know what the future holds.
Organizations like CEIP give kids and parents more hope. They give them
something positive to look forward to. The Cumberland Early Invention Program is
a very supportive program. It is good to know there are still non profit companies out
there that are genuinely non profit . The company has served more than 1000
children and their families. There are some moments when the company deals with

their hand in the cookie jar. The Cumberland Early Invention Program is actually for
people that need help and not for themselves. The Cumberland Early Invention

Abandonment s Effect on Orge in Sophocles Elektra, lines 1026 1048 Most of
today s society is well aware of our five stages of grief; we watch character and
close friends sift through denial, anger, bargaining, depression and ultimately,

find a similar system in Greek tragedies, perhaps with a bit more punch, and there is

What Does The Play Say About The Role Of Progress Essay
What does the play say about the role of progress in society?
Why is the spread of ideas so important to progress?
In the court, Bertram Cates challenges the law and with that causes a challenge in
the society. Making a progress for all the society is where everyone can pursue
what they believe the truth and change the way the people think. Bertram Cates is
standing up for academic freedom because not only one religion should be taught to
the students but shows his opinion on how humans were created. Freedom to think
is an important concept because it allows the idea of expressing one s opinion with
physical evidence even though it goes against society. I believe there is no right or
wrong because, without the freedom to change our beliefs, conscience, and religion,
we wouldn t be able to grow as an individual. This portraits a theme of man vs
society. As Cates and Drummond experience with society, with all the experienced
Drummond confronts Cates shows the knowledge of individuals to make a
progress for all the society when they pursue the truth of others opinions. As in the
town, Matthew Harrison Brady and Reverend Brown fail to present the idea of
themselves as an individual s. They hide behind the bible and hold themselves up
as a symbol of a society itself. This shows how both maintain the order of Hillsboro
by scaring people out of their own opinions and ideas. Many people have the
different perspective in where individual attitudes can become a negative impact. As

Forence And Leadership Of The Renaissance
How did florence gain leadership of Renaissance?
The Renaissance (Rebirth) declined throughout most of the Europe. The renaissance
is an Italian idea, androgen the Italian Renaissance generally covers the periods from
the beginning of the 14th century to the end of the 16th century. And florenceis the
birthplace of the Italian Renaissance.
The artistic and economic changes that are associated with the Renaissance, first
began in the Florence.Trade, crusades and the expansion of commerce in city states
(11th and 12th ) centuries helped florence a lot in economy. Geography also made
florence a model of Renaissance culture because it was central Italy, agriculture
thrived in tuscany and Lombardy and Florence conquered Pisa in 1406 (access to sea
, expansion of trade)

Prejudice and Racism
No Racism in Heart of Darkness
Chinua Achebe challenges Joseph Conrad s novella depicting the looting of
Africa, Heart of Darkness (1902) in his essay An Image of Africa (1975). Achebe s
is an indignant yet solidly rooted argument that brings the perspective of a
celebrated African writer who chips away at the almost universal acceptance of the
work as classic, and proclaims that Conrad had written a bloody racist book (Achebe

Aside from suffering from a uniform one dimensionality, in what appears to be a bid
for sympathy, Conrad s black characters are portrayed as constantly pitiable,
victimized beings, and discusses them as one might a horse or dog. Despite spending
enough time amongst them for him to see so, Africans have no humanity for Marlow;
in that, we can conclude that he is racist.
On the latter half of our question, is Marlow an extension of Conrad s opinion?
Achebe also tenders the following: It might be contended, of course, that the
attitude to the African in Heart of Darkness is not Conrad s but that of his fictional
narrator, Marlow, and that far from endorsing it Conrad might indeed be holding it
up to irony and criticism (318). However, he rejects this idea as quickly as it was
proffered, citing Conrad s attempt to distance himself from the story by using a
narrator who retells Marlow s narration, and mentions briefly that there are
similarities between Marlow and Conrad in terms of real life careers. Achebe
neglects to address another important indication of the ties between Marlow and
Conrad; Marlow s position as a character amongst the other characters. Our narrator
throughout Heart of Darkness seems to be in awe of Marlow. From the first page, the
reader is given a favorable impression of Marlow: We four

Hiv And Its Effects On Nigeria, Lower Respiratory...
As of 2013, the CDC listed that the top 3 causes of mortality in Nigeria are malaria,
lower respiratory infections, and HIV (CDC, 2013). HIV is the third leading cause
of deaths in Nigeria and account for 9% of all deaths (CDC, 2013). HIV is the virus
that causes AIDS, or acquired immunodeficiency syndrome. It can be contracted
through the exchange of bodily fluids with another infected individual. In Nigeria, the
spread of HIVoccurs through high prostitution rates, unsafe sexual practices, blood
transfusions, and through mother to child transmission. The second cause of
mortality in Nigeria are lower respiratory infections. Lower respiratory infections
(LRIs) are commonly caused by viral infections. The most common lower respiratory
infections are bronchitis, pneumonia, and the chronic cough. In Nigeria, the
contraction of LRIs can occur due to a poor standard of living including a lack of
basic household amenities such as proper ventilation and running water. LRIs can
also occur when the immune system is weakened such as those living with HIV/AIDS
. The number one leading cause of death in Nigeria is malaria. In 2010, malaria was
more prevalent in Nigeria than any other country in the world (CDC, 2015). Malaria
is a parasitic infection spread through bites from the Anopheles mosquito. This
mosquito is most commonly found in warm climates, such as Sub Saharan Africa,
where the parasite it carries can thrive. When this infected mosquito bites an
individual, its
Essay about Dental Office Floor Plan
The dental office floor plan detailed above clearly and cleanly divides the dental
space into 3 clear segmented areas: non clinical (patient and administration), clinical,
(dental delivery) and clinical support (supplies, storage, and laboratory). The non
clinical space has the most diverse user traffic patterns since patients and family
members, clinical, and non clinical staff may use this area. This non clinical space
should not be blended with the clinical and clinical support areas. The bottleneck
areas are the patient in take and out take or registration area of the patient reception

Additionally, the staff bathrooms should not be placed into the clinical areas but near

Practice design has direct relationship to patient flow. A common held belief in
dentistry is that there should be a separation between general dentistry and hygiene.
This concept has each dental provider working from dedicated general dentistry
spaces, chairs, and setups and dental hygiene can only perform cleanings in hygiene
chairs and rooms. This forms dental departmental walls or work areas done by
dedicated function and creates a lot of walking and patient scheduling delays. The
definition of dental inefficiency and ineffectiveness is when staff members walk
from the end of one hallway to another to tell the dentist that the patient is ready for
an exam or a procedure.
The concept of a favorite room to deliver care for those long, involved procedures
must also be eliminated. When all dental operatory or treatment rooms are designed
and equipped identically a provider can deliver the full spectrum of dental care in
each and every room. Every dental operatory then becomes a favorite room. This
allows your front desk staff to be more flexible in scheduling both urgent and
emergent patients and for dental assistants to setup patients more quickly. Dental

Mesoamerica
Not one or two, but the following three civilizations are most definitely one of the
more interesting empires to roam this Earth; The Mayans, Aztecs, and Incas. These 3
groups of great people ruled Mesoamerica in their different eras from 300 1535.
Throughout this essay, I will explain the similarities and differences these people
held in between them. For example, one large similarity between them is the fact
that they all believed in the Sun God as the main God to believe in because they
were al polytheistic. This was a very interesting part of their society because it tied
to the political system of the Incas! The incas had one large emperor who ruled the

Finally, the Incas conquered a city and proceeded to name it Cuzco. These three
cities were basically the rock of succession for the three empires and surely enough
it helped the, get to where they got. Another similarity is the fact that they all had a
very strong army and their warriors played a huge role in land conquering and in
the social classes of the people. The Mayans first of all could not have started their
successful civilization without the immense work of the warriors. This led them
to conquer so much land especially the Yucatan Peninsula. The Aztecs also used
the warriors power to conquer land such as the Valley of Mexico. Finally, the
Andes Mountains from modern day Peru to Chile would have never been captured
without the warriors help. The reason the warriors would have so much power was
because they used all the manpower they could because the warriors would receive
land back at home waiting for them and their family for their hard work. Now,
going back to the other hand, a huge difference they had was the way they ruled
which I mentioned before. The Mayans and Aztecs both had the idea of a political
system as dividing the empire into a bunch of city states and assigning a leader for
each one. Now, as for the Incas, they had an overall leader that was supposed to be
the son of the Sun God. He would control the entire empire and make decisions for
all the Incas. When this leader would die,

The subject of the piece is that there is an ultimate good and desire for someone to

addiction overcomes your life along with everyone that loves you. It is the true

but also the word that left a lasting impact. The character of Jesus Christ has always
portrayed a spirit of compassion and love for those lost in hurt and pain. Jesus Christ
instruction was divine and anointed, as believers the instructions are no different.
The common approach to any unexpected should be prayer because not all of God
s people response the same in crisis. A person losing a love one to death is not same
as a love one being in a nursing home, or house fire. Training is important, so that
people are not misconstrued in their attempt to rescue people during trying moments.
By the way of example, the story of Jesus Christ raising Mary and Martha s brother
Lazarus from the dead. The story describes how the Jews were consoling Mary
during the supposed death of Lazarus. The people surround Mary and Martha with
good intention but not realizing the barriers being built up. Martha, however,
received word Jesus was coming and broke the barrier. Martha confess the faith of
God and believed healing would arise in Lazarus. Whereas, when Mary came into
the presence of Jesus Christ anger overshadowed the response of His coming.
Oftentimes, as believers some people in crisis will respond in anger and resistance
towards their coming. It is imperative one does not take it personal because at the
moment the person is hurting. As believers, it is important to respect where a person
of a crisis state of mind is during the moment. The writer of the Book of Romans

Jfk Inaugural Speech Essay
Earth bears 195 diverse countries each embracing its own laws, regulations, and
rules to govern itself, granting various amounts of freedom not merely to restrict
but also to empower its leaders, people, and officials. Furthermore, every individual
receives different amounts of freedom or the opportunity to speak, act, and think as
one pleases. Those holding larger freedom have a greater chances to utilize their
power and those with less freedom have less of a chance to display their power.
However, where there is freedom, there is the obligation to apply the power that
comes with not only to defend and fight for the the rightsthat come with freedom, but
also to assist others to retain their privileges and alert them of their rights.
It s not easy to stand up for what is right especially if you are standing alone. Even
with a great deal of people it is still difficult. However this is what is asked of
Americans in President Kennedy s Inaugural Address. Towards the end of the speech
JFK states Now the trumpet summons us again ... against the common enemies of

threat to the American way of life and democracy all over the world. The American
people, even though they are outnumbered, must shield their freedom in order to
retain this prize and there precious democracy. However this is not just a call for the
American people but for everyone across the globe to protect their right of freedom

Introduction . The Prevalence, Affects, And Types Of Stigma

American gang members is an under researched topic in the social sciences. While
daily experiences in and social understanding of American culture illustrate that gang
membership is a stigmatized identification the research to support that notion is
sorely absent from the greater conversation on gangs, stigma, and violence in our
communities. In an attempt to understand how stigma directly affects gang affiliated

men in hopes of creating an understanding of the stigma that gang involved men feel.

The hypothesis states that belonging holds two foundational elements the first, there
is a need for frequent, affectively pleasant interactions with a few other people and
second these interactions must take place in the context of a temporally stable and
enduring framework of affective concern for each other s welfare (Baumeister
Leary, 1996). Gangs commonly fulfill these two elements. Burnett states that a
gangs, formation and maintenance are based on its members bared experience of
estrangement from traditional social systems and on the security (emotional and
physical) that membership provides (McMillan Chavis) (Burnett, 1999) . The gang
s acceptance of the man and the subsequent sense of family satisfies the need for
affectively pleasant interactions (McMillan Chavis, 1986), and the desire for
protection (Regan) and the ability of gangs to provide such protection secures a man
s sense that his welfare is a concern of those with whom he feels acceptance. As
Baumsiester and Leary s article illustrates belonging is so necessary to personal
happiness that those who experience social isolation are bared from experiencing
high levels of happiness (Baumeister Leary). While gang membership might not
provide happiness in the traditional sense they do quench the human need to belong.
This need for acceptance and belonging is only further aggregated through unstable

Gender Bias And Its Effect On Education
Leedy, LaLonde, and Runk (2003) found that their data supported and built on the
findings of other researchers concerning gender stereotypes. They found that girls
who were motivated and had mathematical talent were still subject to the effects of
gender bias and that they had decreased confidence in their mathematical abilities.
The research also indicated a continuing belief that math is a maledomain. Females
did not acknowledge the stereotype and felt the survey was biased and insulting and
left comments saying so. No such comments were left by males. The belief by men
that math is a male domain, coupled with the failure of women to acknowledge the
biases existence sets up an unrealistic relationship. The researchers postulated that
rather than denying biases exist, we must acknowledge them so that we can move on
and reform education. They felt that the reforms need to occur outside, as well as
inside, the classroom, and must include parents, especially mothers. The attitudes of
all parties involved must be changed for reform to be effective.
Riegle Crumb and Moore (2013) found that females were underrepresented in the
engineering course they studied. Although female students made up 50% of the
enrollment at the high schools, they only comprised an average of 14% of course
enrollees. Women in the classes shared similar academic backgrounds with their
male classmates, but the women were more likely to have a parent who worked in
engineering or a scientific field.
Why Composting Pick Up Isn t Available, Money Can Still...
Where composting pick up isn t available, money can still be saved. In Rhode Island,
Johnson and Wales University s culinary school invested in a high tech composting
machine in their kitchen. Although the initial investment was substantial, the
university is already saving money. Specifically, they expect for the machine to pay
for itself in 5 years because they don t send trash to Rhode Island Central Landfill

Even in big cities where composting plants are accessible, many believe there is no
demand for the final product of composting. At this time, most of the U.S.
composting plants are small. Although in some regions, the composting industry is
gaining popularity and interest from many investors across the nation. Marketing
development, higher procurement participation rate programs, and economic
incentives are all being implemented to help persuade composting. The state of
Connecticut is currently offering six million dollars in loans or grants to the
composting industry (Platt 9). Some even believe the demand for compost will
increase so much, regulatory action and mandates will be unneeded. But until then,
any food waste landfills bans and other composting requirements have to be
considered (Leubsdorf).
In the meantime, in locations where commercial composting operations are
unavailable, local composting is still viable for most of the food service industry.
Especially when food waste is at a manageable level, a composting pile can be

Evaluate Continuing Professional Development
Continuing Professional Development (CPD) describes the cycle of ongoing
development of knowledge, skills and behaviours for an individual in a professional
capacity. CPD begins with reflecting on one s current abilities, identifying any areas
that need to be enhanced or any skill gaps, and setting development objectives. This
is followed by planning which involves evaluating different learning activities to
decide the most suitable option, and then the action of undertaking educational
activities. Finally an evaluation of whether the learning objectives have been

What did it mean to be modern in early twentieth century East Asia? In the early 20th

challenges brought by the Western powers. This process of modernisation was
characterised by numerous features, ranging from military, political, economic,
industrial and technological reforms to changes in the legal, administration,

World War One gave China s businesses and industries a chance to flourish. Britain,
France, Germany and Russia were preoccupied with what was happening in
Europe and no longer had spare goods to export. Imports from the West thus
dropped dramatically, giving Chinese manufacturers a chance to sell more

dramatically, giving Chinese manufacturers a chance to sell more profitably. At
the same time, the demand for products from china increased helping china s

The First Commercial Nuclear Power Plants
The first commercial nuclear power plants were constructed in 1950. The public
was promised a non polluting and resourceful type of energy. Although there are
less than 500 nuclear power plants in the world, but many nuclear accidents have

that cause the reactor into meltdown and lead to disaster. On March 11, 2011 Japan

The Importance Of Behaviour-Based Safety
According to the Cambridge Centre for Behaviour Studies, (n.d., P1) Behavioural
safety is the application of behavioural research on human performance to the
problems of the safety in the workplace. Behaviour Based Safety (BBS) is an
approach based on research of people s behaviour (what they do and why they do
it) and applies scientific theories into practical problems. (HSA0392, 2017) It is
also described as a bottom up approach (H. L. Kaila, 2008), because frontline
workers help manager to observe co worker and make suggestions. For a more
broader term, BBS is about everyone s behaviour, not just the frontline (Agnew and
Ashworth, 2012) definition
A BBS approach is based on solid principles (HAS, 2017). Harvard psychologist B.F
Skinner (1940s) is pioneer in this area who discovers the principles of behavioural
science. These principles are applied in institutional and education fields in late
1960s. It is not until 1970s that industrial applications is in Skinnerian behavioural
science. Starting in 1984, Monsanto used Behavioural methods for accident
prevention (Thomas, John, and Stanley,1990) (Rafiq M.Choudhry, 2014) and
Behaviour Based Safety (BBS) has proven to be an effective tool for the reduction
workplace accidents and is slightly adjusted due to the change in business
climate.(Proactive Safety 2017)History
Part 2How BBS reduce injury in workplace? (From its concept)
80% 95% accidents are caused by unsafe behaviour (Thomas, John, and Stanley,
1990) People take

psychology, and it cannot be generalized for everyone.

III.Conclusion
Sigmund Freud played a very important role in field of psychology; his marvelous
contribution in the same cannot be overlooked. However, the theory of Oedipus
complex that was inspired from the Greek myth is one of his biggest failures. How
disgusting would it be if we all actually wanted to get physical with our parents?

Mood Of Hamlet
While one is reading The Tragedy of Hamlet, Prince of Denmark by William
Shakespeare, the reader can easily see two main important themes throughout the

second reading of the passage where the reader is made aware of Hamlets struggles to

This being because in the beginning the reader can easily see that Hamlet is
depressed because of recent events in his life, and decides to pretend to be mad in
order to gather information that will confirm the ghost s story. He chooses madness
for several reasons including it fits right into his melancholy. However it is a fine

Essay On Qualities Of A Good Friend. Essay on qualities of a good friend SAC Homberg

  • 1. Essay On Qualities Of A Good Friend Writing an essay on the qualities of a good friend may initially seem like a straightforward task, as the concept of friendship is familiar to most. However, the difficulty lies in navigating the fine balance between personal experiences and universal traits that define a good friend. Crafting an essay that resonates with a broad audience while infusing it with personal anecdotes requires careful consideration. Firstly, one must delve into the complexities of human relationships and the multifaceted nature of friendship. The challenge is to present a nuanced perspective that goes beyond clichГ©s and explores the depth of emotions and actions that characterize true friendship. Balancing general observations with specific instances makes the essay relatable, yet it demands a delicate touch to avoid becoming overly sentimental or detached. Another difficulty arises in maintaining a coherent structure throughout the essay. The qualities of a good friend are diverse, ranging from trustworthiness and loyalty to empathy and support. Organizing these qualities in a logical sequence while ensuring a smooth transition between paragraphs demands a thoughtful approach to composition. Moreover, incorporating a personal touch without veering into self-indulgence is a tightrope walk. While anecdotes can add authenticity and depth to the essay, they should serve the purpose of illustrating broader points rather than overshadowing the universal qualities of a good friend. In conclusion, writing an essay on the qualities of a good friend is challenging due to the need to balance personal experiences with universal truths, maintain a coherent structure, and infuse the piece with authenticity without becoming overly sentimental. Successfully navigating these challenges results in an essay that not only resonates with the reader but also captures the essence of what it means to be a good friend. • 2. A Brief History of Time Summary Essay Theoretical Physics, a modern topic of science with an extremely deterring sound and famous for being beyond complex, is a subject which cannot be explained with ease. Stephen Hawking, the most famous living scientist today, wrote A Brief History of Time in 1988, updated in 1996, in order to take upon this daunting task of explaining basic theoretical physicsto a population who had previously barely studied any science. Within A Brief History of Time, Hawking touches upon seven topics in depth while easily explaining them in a simple manner: our picture of the universe, space and time, the expanding universe, the uncertainty principle, elementary particles and the forces of nature, black holes, and the origin and fate of the universe. ... Albert Einstein proposed though that the ether was not needed, for objects do not have to be at absolute rest as long as there was no absolute time. Thus, the theory of relativity was developed. In his discussion of light, Hawking cites that light is described by a cone. The top of the cone represents the future path of light, the bottom half of the cone represents the past path of the light, while the central vertex represents the actual light. In the third chapter, Hawking takes upon the continuous and accelerated expansion of the universe. In order to prove this, he uses the Doppler shift which is almost identical to the Doppler Effect. In sound, the Doppler Effect creates an increasingly louder sound as the event approaches us, and then as the event moves away the sound begins to dull. In light the same basis applies, but with a color shift. Blue shifting and red shifting are the opposite effects of the Doppler shift . When objects are moving away from us, their light is shifted in the red direction on the electromagnetic spectrum. Inversely, as objects approach us; their light is shifted in the blue direction. Hawking uses this to prove the expansion of the universe, for many stars found by Edwin Hubble, of whom the Hubble telescope is named after, are observed to be red shifted. Thus, Hawking cites the
  • 3. Literary Criticism Of Ethan Frome By Edith Wharton Literary Criticism of Ethan Frome The novel Ethan Frome written by Edith Wharton is a classic novel of the early 1900 s. Wharton created a novel that is only fully comprehended in the cold winter months with snow swirling outside your home as you read with a cup of hot tea to warm you. It is an icy writing, with many different thoughts to extract from it. A main theme in this novel is society and morality are obstacles to the fulfillment of desire(SparkNotes: Ethan Frome Themes.) I agree with this yet I argue the main theme is that your circumstances determine your contentment. Through the stifling force of winter, Ethan s alternating moods based mainly off of Mattie, and Zeena s disappearing illnesses, it will be proven that their circumstances determined their contentment. ... All of these things occurred and yet Ethan Frome pushes on, at war with his own life. Ethan was miserable because his life was miserable. When his only source of happiness dissipates, he forever separates himself from contentment because of all of his unfortunate

DETERMINING THE EQUIVALENT MASS AND DISSOCIATION CONSTANT OF AN UNKNOWN WEAK ACID BY TITRIMETRY INTRODUCTION Acids are substances that donate hydrogen ions and bases are substances that accept hydrogen ions. Acids and bases react with each other by transferring hydrogen ions. One way to distinguish an acid is by its equivalent mass, which is the number of grams of the acid needed to transfer one mole of hydrogen ion to a base. For a monoprotic acid, which only transfers one hydrogen ion, its equivalent mass equals its molar mass. For a diprotic acid, which transfers two hydrogen ions, its equivalent mass equals half its molar mass. DISCUSSION/CONCLUSIONS Looking at the table in the lab book, the acid with the closest pKa to my calculated pKa is trans crotonic. It has a pKa of 4.69 while my calculated pKa was 4.62. I feel that these numbers are very close, as the percent error is only 1.49%. The percent error for my calculated equivalent mass of the acid is also small at 3.11%. Error could have come from reading the graph, as I had to estimate the equivalence point. I should have taken measurements at smaller intervals when approaching the inflection point. This would have allowed me to read the graph more accurately. Error could have also come from the pH meter, which may not have been calibrated precisely. Lastly, error could have resulted if I inaccurately read the buret while recording the

Similarly to the once loved king, many aristocrats during the French Revolution faced this same dreadful fate. Throughout The Scarlet Pimpernel this is shown numerous times. In 1792 during this Revolution, France was taken over. Many Aristocrats attempted to escape their executions but were hopelessly blocked by barricades around the city. Baroness Emmuska Orczy uses suspense, heroism, and conflict to show the true strength of her fictional character, the Scarlet Pimpernel. Although this is only a disguise, it s no secret that the Scarlet Pimpernel embodies a hero and stands up for the people of France. The Pimpernel s true name is Sir Percy Blakeney. The novel focuses on his suspense filled adventures in attempts to save the aristocrats as he disguises himself as peasants, old Jews, and more. Blakeney was given his name because, upon leaving the scene of escape, he would leave behind a note signed with a red, star shaped flower, In England, this flower was known as the scarlet pimpernel. In that global division of Africa and Arab Countries, both Ethiopia and the Gulf Arab Countries was strong adherent with the capitalist block. Both enjoyed American and West European political patronage and protection. Thus imperial Ethiopia and the Gulf Arab Countries were partners against the spread of socialist and radical political ideas in this part of the world (Hoynes 1993). Surprisingly, their strong and pro capitalist political alliance did not led to significant involvement of the rich Gulf Arab Countries in Ethiopian economic development during the rule of Emperor Haile Sillassie. We are not very sure about the rate of involvement Gulf Arab countries in other African Countries during the same period. But it is still very curious to know the reasons for complete absence of GCC Arab Countries investment in the Imperial Ethiopia. One may assume that the political crisis that erupted after formal abolition of the federal status of Eritrea in 1962 ignited resentment and anger in the Arab World including the Gulf Arab Countries (Bahru, 1991). The Eritrean Federal status, prescribed by the UN General Assembly provided that Arabic would be the second official language Muslims of Eritrea would enjoy full fleshed equality in both cultural and political terms. Thus the abolition of the Federal status could evoke anger and frustration in Eritrea and the neighboring Muslim Arab World.

Innocence, what every youth possesses, is more accurately described as a state of unknowing but not ignorance which connotation suggests a blissfully positive view of the world. Most youth are protected from the harsh realities of the adult world. Therefore they are able to maintain their state of innocence. While innocence normally wanes over time, sometimes innocence can be abruptly taken away. Parents are supposed to shelter their children from the fraudulent outside world and keep their purity intact. Perry Smith, murderer of the Clutter family, had an upbringing that was marked by brutality and lack of concern on the part of both parents. Due to his childhood he seems to have grown up without direction, and without ever having absorbed any fixed sense of moral values. He felt no regret for murdering the family, only that he felt sorry that they were the ones that ... had to pay for it. While Dick considered Perry as innocent, he had never been with a woman , he believed Perry was a natural born killer who attaches little real value to human life . Perry s tragic upbringing had turned him into a cold blooded killer unaware of the beauty of innocence, which he so easily stole from the Clutter family the moment he killed them. Innocent people cannot be protected from the individual whose innocence is not present. If innocence is not present in an individual it cannot be protected. An individual of this kind makes choices that effect how corrupt they can become. Dick Hickock had a loving family, who supported and loved him as he grew up. Even though he was in a nurturing environment that protected him from the corrupt society around him, he still became a criminal. This shows that innocence, if not present in the first place, cannot be salvaged. After passing hot checks he was put in jail where his jealousy of

In the United States, through our esteemed representative democracy, we stifle this concern by giving the citizen a choice between two right wing, capitalist parties. As a nation our propaganda attacks one party states, but is this only to accentuate the difference between us and them? Is it truly better to be given the choice between two parties over just one to a citizen whose policies do not fall anywhere between, or is it an example of a failure of our education system to curtail the free thought of an individual to the extent where their political ideals cannot be labeled as liberal or conservative? More recently it seems that most profit lies in company wide specialization, and the avant garde of most industries lies entirely in individual companies working towards their own goals. In fact, recently competition has been avoided amongst very large companies, as it is more profitable to exploit the consumer by limiting their options. When the consumer has few to no options, there is little incentive to invest in the improvement of services. Capitalism can be both a catalyst and a hinderance for improvements, and it would be disingenuous to assume socialism couldn t at least match capitalism in this regard. For example in socialistic societies, financial sustainability wouldn t be a concern for freelance or employed thinkers. The idea that capitalism is holistically superior innovatively stems from capitalism s omnipresence on a global scale. The ex post facto attribution of innovative technology to capitalism is a post hoc ergo propter hoc

His father was a Quaker while his mother was an Anglican, therefore, constant family arguments about religion became part of Thomas life (Stanford Encyclopedia of Philosophy 2). He did not have much of formal education as he quit schooling at the age of thirteen years and began working for his father. He was baptized in the Anglican Church that his mother attended. His father had forbidden him from learning the Latin language while he was in school though he wanted to learn it. His father specialized in craft staymaking and this was the skill that Thomas learned while working for his father (Stanford Encyclopedia of Philosophy 2). Thomas had tried running away from home twice, failing in his first escape, but was successful in the second. He escaped to London and then went to Margate where he continued to work as a craft staymaker. He also preached in a church called Methodist persuasion. It was during this time that he married Mary Lambert who died during childbirth (Stanford Encyclopedia of Philosophy 2). Several incidents had a significant impact on the life of Thomas such as working as an officer in an excise service, teaching in a school in London, as well as being appointed a member of the debating society at the Headstrong Club. Thomas later married Elizabeth Ollive in the year 1771. Thomas died on 8th June 1809 in Greenwich Village in New York City in

  • 16. What Does The Play Say About The Role Of Progress Essay What does the play say about the role of progress in society? Why is the spread of ideas so important to progress? In the court, Bertram Cates challenges the law and with that causes a challenge in the society. Making a progress for all the society is where everyone can pursue what they believe the truth and change the way the people think. Bertram Cates is standing up for academic freedom because not only one religion should be taught to the students but shows his opinion on how humans were created. Freedom to think is an important concept because it allows the idea of expressing one s opinion with physical evidence even though it goes against society. I believe there is no right or wrong because, without the freedom to change our beliefs, conscience, and religion, we wouldn t be able to grow as an individual. This portraits a theme of man vs society. As Cates and Drummond experience with society, with all the experienced Drummond confronts Cates shows the knowledge of individuals to make a progress for all the society when they pursue the truth of others opinions. As in the town, Matthew Harrison Brady and Reverend Brown fail to present the idea of themselves as an individual s. They hide behind the bible and hold themselves up as a symbol of a society itself. This shows how both maintain the order of Hillsboro by scaring people out of their own opinions and ideas. Many people have the different perspective in where individual attitudes can become a negative impact. As

On the latter half of our question, is Marlow an extension of Conrad s opinion? Achebe also tenders the following: It might be contended, of course, that the attitude to the African in Heart of Darkness is not Conrad s but that of his fictional narrator, Marlow, and that far from endorsing it Conrad might indeed be holding it up to irony and criticism (318). HIV is the third leading cause of deaths in Nigeria and account for 9% of all deaths (CDC, 2013). HIV is the virus that causes AIDS, or acquired immunodeficiency syndrome. It can be contracted through the exchange of bodily fluids with another infected individual. In Nigeria, the spread of HIVoccurs through high prostitution rates, unsafe sexual practices, blood transfusions, and through mother to child transmission. The second cause of mortality in Nigeria are lower respiratory infections. Lower respiratory infections (LRIs) are commonly caused by viral infections. The most common lower respiratory infections are bronchitis, pneumonia, and the chronic cough. In Nigeria, the contraction of LRIs can occur due to a poor standard of living including a lack of basic household amenities such as proper ventilation and running water. LRIs can also occur when the immune system is weakened such as those living with HIV/AIDS . The number one leading cause of death in Nigeria is malaria. Additionally, the staff bathrooms should not be placed into the clinical areas but near the staff break room located. Practice design has direct relationship to patient flow. A common held belief in dentistry is that there should be a separation between general dentistry and hygiene. This concept has each dental provider working from dedicated general dentistry spaces, chairs, and setups and dental hygiene can only perform cleanings in hygiene chairs and rooms. This forms dental departmental walls or work areas done by dedicated function and creates a lot of walking and patient scheduling delays. The definition of dental inefficiency and ineffectiveness is when staff members walk from the end of one hallway to another to tell the dentist that the patient is ready for an exam or a procedure. The concept of a favorite room to deliver care for those long, involved procedures must also be eliminated. When all dental operatory or treatment rooms are designed and equipped identically a provider can deliver the full spectrum of dental care in each and every room. Every dental operatory then becomes a favorite room. This allows your front desk staff to be more flexible in scheduling both urgent and emergent patients and for dental assistants to setup patients more quickly. These 3 groups of great people ruled Mesoamerica in their different eras from 300 1535. Throughout this essay, I will explain the similarities and differences these people held in between them. For example, one large similarity between them is the fact that they all believed in the Sun God as the main God to believe in because they were al polytheistic. This was a very interesting part of their society because it tied to the political system of the Incas! The incas had one large emperor who ruled the entire ... These three cities were basically the rock of succession for the three empires and surely enough it helped the, get to where they got. Another similarity is the fact that they all had a very strong army and their warriors played a huge role in land conquering and in the social classes of the people. The Mayans first of all could not have started their successful civilization without the immense work of the warriors. This led them to conquer so much land especially the Yucatan Peninsula. The Aztecs also used the warriors power to conquer land such as the Valley of Mexico. Finally, the Andes Mountains from modern day Peru to Chile would have never been captured without the warriors help. The reason the warriors would have so much power was because they used all the manpower they could because the warriors would receive land back at home waiting for them and their family for their hard work. Now, going back to the other hand, a huge difference they had was the way they ruled which I mentioned before. The Mayans and Aztecs both had the idea of a political system as dividing the empire into a bunch of city states and assigning a leader for each one. Now, as for the Incas, they had an overall leader that was supposed to be the son of the Sun God. He would control the entire empire and make decisions for all the Incas. When this leader would die,

Jesus Christ instruction was divine and anointed, as believers the instructions are no different. A person losing a love one to death is not same as a love one being in a nursing home, or house fire. Training is important, so that people are not misconstrued in their attempt to rescue people during trying moments. The hypothesis states that belonging holds two foundational elements the first, there is a need for frequent, affectively pleasant interactions with a few other people and second these interactions must take place in the context of a temporally stable and enduring framework of affective concern for each other s welfare (Baumeister Leary, 1996). Gangs commonly fulfill these two elements. Burnett states that a gangs, formation and maintenance are based on its members bared experience of estrangement from traditional social systems and on the security (emotional and physical) that membership provides (McMillan Chavis) (Burnett, 1999) . The gang s acceptance of the man and the subsequent sense of family satisfies the need for affectively pleasant interactions (McMillan Chavis, 1986), and the desire for protection (Regan) and the ability of gangs to provide such protection secures a man s sense that his welfare is a concern of those with whom he feels acceptance. As Baumsiester and Leary s article illustrates belonging is so necessary to personal happiness that those who experience social isolation are bared from experiencing high levels of happiness (Baumeister Leary). While gang membership might not provide happiness in the traditional sense they do quench the human need to belong. This need for acceptance and belonging is only further aggregated through unstable and dangerous Early Childhood

They found that girls who were motivated and had mathematical talent were still subject to the effects of gender bias and that they had decreased confidence in their mathematical abilities. The research also indicated a continuing belief that math is a maledomain. Females did not acknowledge the stereotype and felt the survey was biased and insulting and left comments saying so. No such comments were left by males. The belief by men that math is a male domain, coupled with the failure of women to acknowledge the biases existence sets up an unrealistic relationship. The researchers postulated that rather than denying biases exist, we must acknowledge them so that we can move on and reform education. They felt that the reforms need to occur outside, as well as inside, the classroom, and must include parents, especially mothers. The attitudes of all parties involved must be changed for reform to be effective. Riegle Crumb and Moore (2013) found that females were underrepresented in the engineering course they studied. Women in the classes shared similar academic backgrounds with their male classmates, but the women were more likely to have a parent who worked in engineering or a scientific field.
