Naipaul Does Not Deserve his Nobel Prize Essay
What makes an individual worthy of a Nobel Prize in a category as broad as literature? Is it an
immense knowledge of writing procedures that other authors have not begun to attempt to use?
Or is an appropriate representation of the author s subject that is solely objective, and lacks all
personal opinions? If that was the case, several Prizes should be taken away from some authors
and handed to other more deserving writers. V. S. Naipaul, who received a Nobel Prizein Literature
for Miguel Street, falls into the former category. Naipaul may have filled the technical requirements
for a Nobel Prize for his mastery of several difficult techniques, yet his writing neglects to explain
the merits of Trinidad while highlighting the negatives... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
What did Nobel actually mean by ideal? In fact, the history of the Literature Prize appears as a
series of attempts to interpret an imprecisely worded will.
A comparison with Porgy and Bess has been suggested. (C. Pierre) The parallel has at least the
merit of reminding us that the whole world is one. In that hospitable mood we might also
remember Mark Twain s tales of life on the Mississippi. But Miguel Street, in Trinidad, is not
really very much like Catfish Row, nor are reminders of nineteenth century Missouri prevalent.
What is true and, if you will, significant about Mr. Naipaul s book is that it presents a world of its
own excellently. Vivid characters with tenuous means of support populate the place. They sing the
latest Calypso songs and interest themselves in cricket matches and collect junk and talk about
migrating across the narrow sea to Venezuela. If their attitude toward morals is informal it is shown
openly, not covertly. Their standards of courage are high. They speculate endlessly on the
tremendous trifles and mysteries that have troubled man s thinking throughout his tenure on our
strange planet. A room with a view of a mango tree may contain a boisterously quarrelsome family
or a recluse devoted to carpentry or scholarship. The popular beverage is rum, though the gay
blades who enjoy it most turn to the ostentatious patronage of a milk bar during an interval when
joy through strength becomes fashionable. It had so many

Examples Of Intertextuality In The Da Vinci Code

Kristeva s notion of intertextuality in Dan Brown s The Da Vinci Code
Intertextuality is one of the central ideas in contemporary literary theory. Despite the over
utilization and confident use of the term by the theorists and critics, it still remains a term which is
not transparent and thus, cannot be invoked in a simple manner. Intertextuality as a term is
notably recognized to have been first used by Julia Kristeva in Word, Dialogue and Novel (1966).
She proposed that the texts were a dynamic site in which relational processes and practices are the
focus of analysis instead of static structures and products. Kristeva ... Show more content on

The critics very well shunned Brown s clumsy, ungrammatical, and over the top unnecessary
tautology. Despite its wide commercial success, we can see the novel had its obvious loopholes,
of that of historical inaccuracies and the clumsy ways. Salman Rushdie said during a lecture, Do
not start me on The Da Vinci Code . A novel so bad that it gives bad novels a bad name . Another
such enthusiast Stephen Fry has referred to Brown s writings as complete loose stool water and
arse gravy of the worst kind . Some of the lines thus condemned from the novel

Environmental Factors In Marigolds By Eugenia Collier
In one s everyday life, we are surrounded with environmental factors that could potentially shape
the aspects of our lives. These types of factors range anywhere from negative to positive on a broad
spectrum. For instance in Eugenia Collier s short story Marigolds , The main character Lizabeth, is
surrounded by an abundance of environmental factors, as she struggles with own internal conflictof
coming to terms that her reign of innocence is slowly fading away. As the story continues,
Lizabeth s environmental factors are exposed, and as a result of these factors, she commits certain
actions, in which she faces consequences for. The particular theme that is emitted from this short
narrative, is symbolic experiences that one may experience in life, have a probability of changing
aspects in our lives . This is tied in with main emphasize of exploring in the text how this particular
theme is exposed by the characters, setting, and the plot of the story.
During the course of the story, Marigolds are repetitively brought up in the dialogue, and the
thoughts of the characters. In fact, the title of the story is Marigolds , but what might be the
significance behind the title? Well for starters the main purpose of the title is a play on the
symbolism that Marigolds represent, which includes passion, creativity, cruelty, grief, and jealousy.
This type of symbolism is then incorporated in the main characters Lizabeth and Ms.Lottie s
persona throughout the text. Evidence to support this claim is in the text it states, For some
perverse reason, we children hated those Marigolds. They infuriated with the perfect ugliness of
the place; they were too beautiful; they said too much; they did not make sense(Collier, Eugenia).
As displayed in the quote the traits reflected upon Lizabeth s persona was jealousy. This is stated
because in the quote Lizabeth rambles about the negative aspects of the marigolds and does not
name one positive attribute, this is practical behavior that is associated with jealousy. The last
piece of evidence to support the significance behind the title is in the text it states The old black
witch woman worked on them all summer, every summer, down on her creaky knees, weeding

Sleep Patterns And Mood Disorders
Abstract:
The relationship between sleep patterns and mood disorders such as depression is related to each
other, depression may cause sleep problems in children and adults. in other hand sleep problems can
cause mood fluctuations. Studies have found that children who obtained insufficient sleep during
night are more suffering from memory and mood disorders and impaired well functioning during
daytime. And mood can be affected by low socioeconomic status which has also found to be
associated with short sleep duration and insomnia in children. Thus our study aimed to evaluate and
examine the relationship between sleep changing and mood. We conducted our study through

With 73% of children presenting with depression, they also suffer with either insomnia or
hypersomnia. Children with sleeping disturbance showed higher levels of depression and were
more likely to have a anxiety disorder compared to children without sleep disturbances. These
studies support strongly the correlation between sleep and affective disorders.
A community survey (Blader, Koplewicz, Abikoff, Foley, 1997) of 987 parents of elementary
school aged children reported the following problems related to children s sleep behaviors:
Bedtime resistance (27%), difficulty with morning wakening (17%), complaints of fatigue (17%),
delayed sleep onset (11%), and nighttime wakenings (7%). Rates are even higher in studies
examining clinical child populations, with restless sleep (43%) and night wakings (47%) affecting
a substantial number of children (Simonds Parraga,

Description Of A Good Friend
Dearest Good Friend,
After having taken an entire course dedicated to design, I think that I ought to pass on some of
the information I learned in the form of some oh so friendly advice. Although you, my good
friend who has been seriously considering going into design for some time, may already know a
bit about design, I thought it a good idea to let you know about what a few of the sources I have
been reading have to say about being a designer. Also, I wanted to let you know what these sources
say in regard to the place of designers and of designers work in the larger society. Unfortunately,
I will not be able to give you the full run down, but I have chosen the best just for you. Jumping
ahead a bit to my summary of findings, I found that designers have special responsibilities lot of
them. They have to think about the people with which they work, the consumers of their
designs, the manufacturers of their designs, and the nature of the material with which they
work. Also, design should not be thought of as a way in which people show mastery and control
over the world. To do this is a bad idea because it can have a negative impact on a person s morals.
Now that I have given you an overview of my findings, I will let you know more about how I came
to these conclusions.
In deciding whether designers have any special responsibilities, I found the articles A Buddhist
Perspective on Industrial Engineering and the Design of Work by Wei Tau Lee, James A.

Differences Between American English And British English
Differences between American English and British English Abstract As a language,English is
widely used in the world. Its history is only about 6 hundreds years, which means it is a young
language. With the development of America and British, the differences between American English
and British English becomes more and more obvious. In this essay, I will analyze these differences
in grammar, vocabulary, spelling and pronunciation. Key words: language, American English,
British English, differences Table of contents I.Introduction II.Background. 1.The origin of

the most important language in the world. There are two major varieties:American English and
British English. Under different circumstance, they have not developed in the same way, which
means they have changed a lot in the last centuries. II Background 1.The origin of American
English In 1606, English explorers set sail to the New World and established the first colony

Catalase Lab Report
How do different environments affect the reactivity of catalase?
If we add water to the to the hydrogen peroxide, then the reaction will not be as extreme as the
control group because the hydrogen peroxide will be diluted. If we add HCl to the hydrogen
peroxide, then the reaction will be stronger than the control group because the acids are working
together. In this experiment the independent variable was the HCl and water added into the
hydrogen peroxide (10 ml each). The dependent variable is the rate of reaction measured in
seconds, and kPa, and the constants are the amount paper/ liver on the paper (one saturated piece),
amount of hydrogen peroxide (twenty ml) and the amount of the independent variable (10ml).

If we add HCl to the hydrogen peroxide, then the reaction will be stronger than the control group
because the acids are working together. The data that was collected supported our hypothesis on
the water group , because the kPa pressure went from 0 to 108 in sixty seconds. However it did
not support our hypothesis on the hydrocloric acid group only went 0 to 102 in sixty seconds.
The water group reaction was less extreme because the hydrogen peroxide was diluted, but the
hydrochloric acid group was not more extreme because the acids did not work together like we
predicted they would. Our data could have been more accurate if pressure was applied to the test
tube the second the liver was dropped into the mixture. If the liver solution was blended
/ processed properly (how it would inside the liver organ), so that the puree stayed consistent
with livers position, along with this how the liver was preserved might also play a role in the
lab data by decreasing things such as it s properties. This could have been prevented if it was
fresh liver with no processing. Also to have more valid data, more data could be collected and
averaged. Another cause of error could be the pipettes not being cleaned when measuring different
materials. The reason that it s important to know this in life is so we know what

The Cultural Context Of The Epistle Of James
Introduction The epistle of James considered the greatest practical Christian living in the New
Testament comparable to Proverbs in the Old Testament. Throughout the epistle, there are over
twenty references to the Sermon on the Mount, making the epistle a small commentary on the
sermon given by Jesus.
The Author One of the most discussed subjects about the epistle of James is who wrote it. The
author identifies himself James as a servant of God, without giving any other clues to who he is.
Three possible people could be the author of this epistle: the first and least likely is James the son
of Alphaeus, the second is James the son of Zebedee and brother of John, and the last is James the
brother of Jesus. No evidence in history to suggest ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, just what does this mean, James explained in verse 18 that they are new creatures or
the firstfruits of his creatures through the word. Firstfruits, being the best of a crop that the
master would get for himself before giving away or selling any. These would have been the best,
most perfect of the crops. This is also something the Jewish people would understand being
mostly farmers. Now that we know that they are to understand the word so we can be those
firstfruits, what do they need to do to understand? James instructed be quick to listen, slow to
speak, slow to anger It is interesting that James placed, quick to listen first, why did he do this, to
ensure the reader understands the importance of listening to the whole word not just hearing what
they wanted to hear. James is encouraging the reader to listen to scripture whenever they get the
chance for it is a sign of being a true Christian. Slow to speak, first, they needed to listen, but they
could not listen if they were speaking. The need to hold their tongue until the end was essential to
prevent them from looking like a fool (Proverbs 17:28). Slow to anger, why is this last on the list?

In 2006 as stated by the Guardian, Chief Executive of Marks Spencer Stuart Rose wanted to stretch
the company brand, for example he considered selling food online as part of a plan to become a
multi channel retailer, this was obviously to keep up with the competitive market such as Asda.
Asda and Marks Spencer appeal to different markets in terms of social class and other
demographics; this has a major influence on the way they respond to current issues.
In response to the current cheap clothing industry supermarkets have increasingly over the last few
years caught up with fashion trends, helping them to rival the high street clothing stores with their
less expensive versions. Marks Spencer is no exception to this and they have bought their clothing
ranges up to date to keep up with the latest trends and to keep their customers interested. Consumer
purchases are influenced by cultural, social, personal and psychological characteristics. For the
most part, marketers cannot control such factors, but they must take them into account .

brands position must be continuously communicated to consumers. Major brand marketers often

Strengths Of Labeling Theory
Strengths Labeling theory has two simple elements that incorporates within the theory. One being
the negative reaction and labels that the public has of an individual and the consequences of those
labels that the affect the individual mentally and physically. It explains in simple terms why the
criminal commits illegal acts. The labeling theorycontains simple logical that any one can
understand. Labeling theory is known to being simple and into the point. According to the book
Sociology: An Interactive Approach

The societal reaction of an individual s behavior leads to that individual becoming the criminal
that everyone labels him or her as. Labeling theorists argue that labeling theory can be applied to
any type of individual and to any crime. But, with every theory comes weaknesses. The theory has
lacked the explanation on why individuals first start to act deviant and they lack considering other
factors that can influence someone to commit a crime. However, even with these lacks of
explanation labeling theorists argue that the labeling theory have been timeless and can explain any
type of situation. Labeling theorist also recommend ways to improve on the policy of the theory.
The recommendations that were mentioned explain on how not only the government, but also
society as a whole can improve on the rate of crimes. All things considered, what you as the reader
should remember is that the most vital aspect of changing criminal behavior is society (yes, that
includes the person this paper too). Take this paper into consideration when thinking about the

Signal to Noise Interference Ratio
A measure of quality of service in a wireless connection is made using SINR (Signal to noise
interference ratio). For the performance evaluation let us consider a an overall network t to be
composed of two tier 19 macrocells, with many femtocells randomly deployed over the
macrocells. Then the macro user would be interfered from neighbouring macro cell s (18) and all
of the adjacent femtocells. Due to small transmit power, only femtocells which would be located in
the 1 tier macrocellarea gives interference to macro user. The estimation of the received SINR of a

all the adjacent Femtocells [12] would be given by
where P_(M,K) and P_(M^1,K) is transmit power of serving macro cell M and neighbouring

Stephen Hawking s Death Of The Greatest Scientist
Imagine if you could only move your left hand an inch or so, and the rest of your body was
completely paralyzed. You can t talk, and you can hardly move. This disease is called
amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, Lou Gehrig s disease, or ALS and this is what Stephen Hawking has.
Despite the fact that he is handicapped, he has managed to become one of the greatest scientists
ever.
Stephen Hawking was born on January 8, 1942 (exactly 300 years after the death of Galileo
Galilei) in Oxford, England. As a kid, he was fascinated with the idea of an ever growing universe
that he lives in, and would occasionally lie on his front lawn, with his family, observing the sky and

His great abilities in physics were weakened by his poor study habits. After his final exam,
Stephen was on the line between first and second honors. To determine his degree, the professors
decided to give him an oral exam. He passed the test with excellence, and therefore, went on to
Cambridge.
At Cambridge University, he was going to study cosmetology, a branch of physics. Fortunately for
him he decided to study theoretical physics, not experimental physics where he would have had to
set up many experiments, which he could not have done after he got ALS.
By now, Stephen had been diagnosed with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis. ALS slowly destroys the
nerves in the brain and spine. ALS victims usually die within 2 5 years because it destroys the
muscles used for breathing which leads to suffocation.
When he was diagnosed with ALS, he pretty much gave up his life. After he did not die after two
years, he realized he could go on with ALS and his study of cosmetology. Although he was weak,
he could still walk. After those 2 years, he decided he could not waste any time, there were
things he wanted to do in his life. Hawking wanted to get married and get a Ph.D. So he was
engaged to Jane Wilde in 1965. Hawking said, It [getting married to her] made me determined to
live, to go on. Jane really gave me the will to live. Then he got his Ph.D. and started to work at
Cambridge. He was now officially known as Professor Dr. Stephen William Hawking. His health

The Representation Of Gender And Media
Nowadays the representation of gender in media has become very common. It is all about the
representation of phenomenally rapid change: change s in gender relation transformations in media
technologies, regulatory frameworks, content ownership and theoretical revolutions in the
approaches used to make sense of genderrepresentations. Gender and media aims to freeze the
frame, press the pause button, or hit the refresh key to construct that how media shows social
stereotypes. There are many advertisements which influences people, the one such advertisement is
of Van Heusen brand advertising for men s wear tie. These advertisement clearly reflects gender
inequality.
Since then, of course, the role of women in society and representation in advertising has come a
long way. The feminist movement in the 70s helped to break down barriers for women, leading
to improved career opportunities and more equality in the workplace and the home. We can see
in the picture how a girl is lying down near a shoe, and at the very top of it a message is written
in bold whit letters keep her where she belongs. This shows that how they have compared a
woman with a shoe and the women is without the clothes on her body which shows gender biased
advertisement. These seems that they are trying to say that women s are not equal to men. In the
second half picture, at the very top it is written that show her it is men world which is kind of
reflecting the inequality s in the gender. And in the picture we

The Dynasty Of Chinese History Essay
The Six Dynasty period in Chinese historiography is often classified with moments of conflict,
revolt, strife, famine, disunity, and not innovation. Historians and academics categorize the period
as a placeholder between the more significant Han China 206 BCE to 220 CE and the Tang
dynasty 618 to 907 CE. Understandably, Han Chinas military, infrastructure, and civil capabilities
were rivalled only by that of the Roman Empire, and even then, the Han dynasties administrative
capabilities were rivalled by none. The Tang period is widely considered to be the high point of
Chinese culture and civilization, where cosmopolitan China emerged with force vastly shaping
China for centuries to come. The significance of the Han and Tang dynasties is not in question, it is
the lack of importance that historians confer on the Six Dynastiesperiod. Admittedly the Six
Dynasty period in Chinese history can be categorized as a warring period, in which China did
not develop unilaterally, but separately along fractured lines (split both north south, and east
west). Much like the European medieval period, there are few accessible sources from early
medieval china, and because of this, China s six dynasty period is brushed over as a period of
little advancement and innovation. The Dark Ages in Europe use to receive the same scholarly
interpretation as a period of stagnation.

Blackberry-Picking Essay
In the poem Blackberry Picking by Seamus Heaney, the narrator depicts his greed for summer s
blackberries and how that greed leads to disappointment. Heaney adds meaning to his poem by
metaphorically comparing blackberries to pleasurable things in our lives and that they should be
savored in the moment rather than stored. The author s choice of blackberries in the summer has
a subtle significance. Because blackberries only ripen in the summer and because they spoil
easily, he is able to convey how precious these blackberries are and why the narrator lusts for
them. The narrator also addresses the audience during the picking of the first blackberry: you ate
that first one and its flesh was sweet. By addressing us, the poem appeals to the senses.... Show

By personifying summer and the blackberries through the words flesh and blood, his metaphor
becomes accessible to a wider audience. Heaney also uses the words hoarded and cache to
further augment the value of the berries. Usually, we hoard items we find valuable in caches,
regardless of their literal worth. Heaney utilizes this philosophy to ask us what are the
blackberries we hoard. As the poem progresses the tone changes. What starts out as eagerness
and lust spirals into a mix of anger, guilt, and disappointment. Heaney initiates this change by
including a simile that alludes a British fairytale. After picking and hoarding the blackberries in
a tub, the narrator realizes his palms are sticky as Bluebeard s. The fairy tale is about a man with

Comparing Mulatto And A Raisin In The Sun
When looking at the origins of African American Dramas specifically in Mulatto, Native Son, A
Raisin in the Sun, Funnyhouse of a Negro, Great Goodness of Life, and Dutchman, the emotions of
all these characters created the sense that everyone in this time were still searching for their
identity. Each character in the plays had to overcome difficulties relating to their skin color, thus
causing either confusion or confidence in their search for what defines them as their self. It created
internal conflicts and they often blamed society for specific expectations and stereotypes. How the
characters decided to express their feelings in emotions demonstrates a sense of realism and how
they viewed themselves. In each play, we are able to see how the characters deal with the searching
of their identity through various emotions and internal conflicts through their life choices. In the
first play Mulatto by Langston Hughes, the African American character, Robert,... Show more

Parkinson s Disease As A Medical Condition
Parkinson s disease is one of the few diseases that have been around since ancient times. In the
ancient Indian medical system of Ayurveda this disease was referred to as Kampavata. In AD
175 the physician, Galen of the western medical literature referred Parkinson s disease as
shaking palsy . It was not until 1817 that a detailed medical essay was published on the subject
by London doctor, James Parkinson. The publication was titled An Essay on the Shaking Palsy .
This officially established Parkinson s disease as a medical condition. The essay was based on six
cases he observed in his own practice and on walks around his neighborhood. The essay was to
encourage people to study deeper into the disease. Over the years the study of Parkinson s... Show

highest crude death rate (66.4%), followed by whites (64.6%), Hispanics (55.4%), and Asians
(50.8%). 69.9% of people with Pakinson s developed dementia by the end of the six year study.
Since Parkinson s disease deals with the trouble of moving, it affects the nervous system. It
happens when there is a problem with certain nerve cells in the brain. Normally, these nerve cells
make an important chemical called dopamine. Dopamine sends signals to the part of your brain that
controls movement.

first modern description was made in 1877 by Samuel Wilks, a London physician. Toward the end

Bank Financial Audit Teams Need Financial And Security...
1Purpose and Overview
Each year, OSA Financial Audit teams need financial and security files from all 58 Community
Colleges (CC). Since the data files may be used in any engagement types (e.g. financial statement
audits, federal compliance audits, information systems audits, performance audits, and
investigations), files are requested regardless of whether or not OSA will be performing a financial
statement audit for the current year.
OSA Information Systems Audit (ISA) auditors request submission of files from the Community
College Systems Office, obtain a list of the community colleges that will be audited for the current
fiscal year from the Financial Audit Team Manager, process files once received and provide the
output of ACL scipts to the Fianancial teams via Audit Exchange (AX).
2Request for Submission of Files from CC Systems Office
Three items must be sent to the Community College Systems Office in April: a letter, FTP
instructions for sending the files, and User IDs for the Community Colleges. The Community
College Systems Office distributes the request for data files and related information to all CIOs and
CFOs of the community colleges.
The year end accrual financial audit files are to be transmitted as soon as the school closes the
accrual period in August with a Community College submisstion deadline of September 30 fo the
current fiscal year. The security files are to have an effective date of May or June of the fiscal year

Al Qaeda, ISIS and Terror Attacks on the United States
Al Qaeda is the parent to ISIS. Al Qaeda translates to The Fundament . It is a multi national radical
group founded in 1988 by Osama bin Laden and other militants who fought for Afghanistan against
the Soviet Union. It has been labeled as a terrorist group by the United Nations Security Council
and the North Atlantic Treaty Organization, and quite a few other countries. The Sunni Islamic
group was based in Sudan for the early part of the 1990, they moved to Afghanistan somewhere
around 1996 and went under the name of Taliban. The group merged with Jihad s and later declared
a holy war against the United States. The United States troops all but eliminated the group and
killed its leaders while they were in Afghanistan, but with withdrawal of the troops in 2011, have

The Importance Of Vital Signs Of Essential Signs Essay
The Importance of Vital Signs: Introduction Vital signs are common exams performed by medical
professionals that assess the essential functions of the human body. These exams are imperative in a
clinical setting as they help to determine the overall health of a patient. During a routine vital sign
examination, hospital personnel such as nurses or certified nursing assistants must evaluate the
patient s body temperature, pulserate, respiratory rate, and blood pressure in order to obtain an
adequate assessment of the patient. Typically, radiographers are not often required to collect their
patients vital signs. However, it is crucial for a radiographer to know how to acquire a patient s
vital signs in case of an emergency situation.

the body s ability to produce and eliminate heat. According to the article, Vital Signs (Body

Pros And Cons Of Graffiti In Toronto
Whether or not graffiti is a form of artwork or vandalism has always been a subject for debate in
Toronto. In this article, I will tell you why graffiti is in fact a form of vandalism, and that we
should try to wipe out all form of graffiti in this city. Graffiti negatively impacts societies for
several reasons. First of all, removing graffitifrom walls and other structures are draining our tax
funds. Money that could be used to build parks, community centers, and schools, are instead being
used to clean graffiti. In the U.S.A, cities such as Chicago and Phoenix spend millions upon
millions of dollars on graffiti cleanup. Children are also negatively influenced by graffiti. For

There are many things that we, the people, can do. For example, we could form neighborhood
watch groups to catch anyone trying to vandalize one of our houses. We could also all have a
fund raiser to buy and install security cameras around the neighborhood. And if, by any chance,
our homes and structures do get vandalized, we could organize an event were all the residents of
the neighborhood all work together to clean the graffiti. Also, if a resident witnesses someone
doing graffiti, they should immediately call the authorities. Removal of graffiti within 24 48
hours is proven to decrease the amount of graffiti in an area, so we mustn t wait or procrastinate.
We should create a new bylaw, which heavily punishes those who vandalize other people s
property, because right now, under the current bylaw, a graffiti artist will only have to either pay
a small fine or clean up his graffiti. This bylaw is too lenient, and in order to cleanse this city from
graffiti we must inflict harsh punishment. For example, we should make them pay a hefty fine,
clean up their graffiti, take away their ID card, strip them of their passport for a short while, and
send them to jail for at least a month. This might seem too harsh but after the first handful of
graffiti artists go through this no

Summary Of A Court Of Thorns And Roses
In 1943, Abraham Maslow developed the psychological theory named the hierarchy of needs,
which describes motivational patterns that humans advance through. The first tier consists of
physiological needs such as food, warmth, and rest. After one accomplishes these, they move
onto the second tier full of safety needs such as security and shelter. Then the third tier makes up
belonging needs like friends and intimate relationships. The fourth tier consists of esteem needs
and feelings of accomplishment. Self actualization makes up the fifth and final tier, by
achieving one s full potential. A Court of Thorns and Roses by Sarah J. Maas displays Maslow s
Hierarchy of needs by the main character Feyre, starting in the bottom tier, slowly moving her
way up to the second and third tier, falling back into the bottom tier, and eventually ending in the
third tier. When the books first begins, Feyre, the protagonist, is the daughter of a merchant who
lost all his wealth. She lives with her father and two older sisters in a one bedroom shack, that
does nothing to keep the cold out. Feyre provides all of the food for the family by hunting in the
woods and selling the skins of animals for whatever money she can get. Feyre states that We d
finished our last loaf of bread yesterday, and the remainder of our dried meat the day before (Maas
2). This shows the severity of the situation, and she even continues further by saying, We wouldn t

Youth Violence Essay
Youth Violence
Youth violence is an escalating problem in American society today. There are many different
factors that can be blamed for this problem. During the last decade of the twentieth century people
began searching for answers to this dilemma which is haunting America. Many tragic school
shootings have taken place within the last decade that have gained the attention of the public. As
of now, no one can give the right answer to the problem or the reason that it happens because
there is no right answer yet and nobody can be sure that they know the cause. All we have to go by

This statement brings up another opinion, the opinion that children s behavior stems from their
parents or elders behaviors. A young male, who is brought up in a violent household, is more likely
to be violent outside of the home. This idea brings us back to the saying monkey see, monkey do;
what children see is what they will do. Among our many solutions to youth violence is the idea that
too many guns are not the problem, but too few guns is the problem. The Colorado Legislature is
currently debating a bill to further enhance the state s conceal carry statute. Those backing the
measure say that a teacher or administrator with a concealed gun could have stopped, or greatly
minimized, the Littleton tragedy. (Lee 255) Lee says, Blaming guns for such incidents...is
ludicrous. His solution to our rising problem of youth violence is not censoring the media, but is
bringing more guns in the mainstream. This does not mean children walking around school armed.
It means putting more guns into the right hands. At first glance this proposals sounds pretty good.
When one puts some thought into it, it somewhat changes their perspective on the issue. Does this

Introduction
According to the United Nations, the world population was estimated to have reached 7.6 billion
as of October, 2017 and it will continue to increase to 11.2 billion by the year 2100. The rapid
increase in population requires more food, more lands and other demands. Because of the higher
demands, some companies have been exploiting natural resources to serve people s needs and
create profits as well. With the current population pressure and overexploitation of natural
resources, a question has been raised: What if natural resources run out? . In 2009, Avatar, a science

The Issue Of Substance Abuse Essay
It is well known that any form of substance use can be fatal, but so can a lot of other things:
choking, accidents, health issues, and sheer bad luck. However, there is something special
about substance abuse fatalities from substance use are considered preventable. Take deaths
associated with driving under the influence of alcohol, lung cancer brought on by smoking, or
heart attacks associated with cocaine use. A person could die in a car crash, from lung cancer,
or a heart attack without ever touching alcohol, cigarettes, or cocaine respectively. However,
there is an increase in death associated with these items. The most curious part of this is the legal
versus illegal categorization of substances. According to the Center for Disease Control, tobacco
is considered the leading cause of preventable death (CDC, 2016). Yet, not only is it legal, a
person in the U.S. can purchase cigarettes as young as 18, which is three years earlier than the
legal age to drink alcohol. This knowledge leads to questions about addictionand prevalence of
substance use. Besides being readily available and highly addictive, are there other factors in the
use and abuse of legal substances and are they good indicators of illicit drug use? There is clear
evidence to support that children, adolescents, and adults learn and emulate what they see on
television. The American Academy of Pediatrics has done research and come to the conclusion that
the causes of adolescent substance use are

Obscenity Laws Texts Schools And Public Libraries
Daniel Wilson Avril Torrence ENGL 382 10 April 2015 Obscenity Laws Texts In Schools And
Public Libraries Obscenity Laws Texts in Schools and Public Libraries Introduction Morality is a
virtue that all humans ought to embrace. The different societies where we live in have set standards
that provide guidelines that all are to follow. However, with all the set conditions, a section of the
population still chose to go astray. Through their actions, verbally and in all manners known to
them, this group upholds obscene vices that are a deterrent to the community s standards of
decency (Ryder 210). Obscene practices extend to those materials that are intended to invoke
impure sexual thoughts. These materials spread in publications to schools and public libraries at
high rates. The question arises that, to what limit should a material be labeled as obscene? Certain
fiction writers do not consider the use of euphemisms in their works and at certain times cause
intentional ambiguity that attracts diverse reactions from their readers. This phenomenon comes
about from what is termed as the reception theory. The mind tends to develop in accordance with
the exposure (Cossman 50). It is evident that these scenes tend to be more attractive to the
unsuspecting persons, mostly teenagers; therefore, developing strategies to protect them is
essential. The Canadian government believes that continuing to produce these materials can corrupt
the minds of the readers and the wider population.

Hardware Design Practices For Modern Hardware
Hardware is the basis of any computing system and, as such, should be the first part of the system
to consider security. The research presented in Trustworthy Hardware from Untrusted Components
looks at the present state of hardware security, analyzes the vulnerabilities and possible solutions,
and presents an alternative approach to ensure that the end result of the hardware design process
is a secure and trustworthy piece of hardware. There are many factors that contribute to the current
susceptibility of hardware to attacks. Modern hardware design practices incorporate the use of
more third party intellectual property (IP) components, such as USB components. Modern
hardware design practices require that a piece of hardware pass through thousands of engineers in
the stages from design to manufacture. Modern hardware is much more complex than what has
been manufactured in the past. Finally, modern hardware is designed by teams with relatively few
designers for each subcomponent. In an idealistic world, hardware would be designed and
manufactured in a single secure location with trusted personnel handling the process from
inception to manufacture; however, this idea is ineffective and cost prohibitive making it unlikely
to be put into practice. Hardware design follows a very similar process as the software engineering
lifecycle and even has many of the same steps. For instance, the first step in both processes is to
gather the specifications for the requirements. The

instantly suggested by Japanese media that he should pay a visit to the the Nanjing Massacre

the context of Japan s deal over historical issues. Japan s right wing forces have for decades kept
making attempts to deny the order established after the Second World War, such as visiting the
notorious Yasukuni Shrine and distorting history books. A few months ago, Japan revised a

problem behaviors. The problem behaviors I came up with were Aggression and Non Compliance.
In order, to track these behaviors, I focused on duration and frequency. I will examine these
behaviors using a ABC data sheet.

The Theory Of Nursing Care
Nursing care through theory has continual made changes to provide the best care for patients across
the spectrum. From nursing models, to concepts, to evidence based practices that have stemmed
from theories, nursing care advances have come a long way. Theories have been the fundaments of
nursing to help nurses provide efficient care through structure , unity , assessing, planning, and
implementing interventions (White Zaccagnini, 2014).This paper will discuss how theories have
guided patient centered care in helping decrease infections in cancer who have central lines that
developed chemotherapy induced neutropenia.
There have been many advances in oncology care; unfortunately infections from healthcare settings
and the community are a major cause of hospitalizations and death in patients receiving
chemotherapy treatment via central lines. As healthcare providers, preventing infection with
patients who develop chemotherapy induced neutropenia can significantly decrease mortality and
morbidity for patients with cancer (Bush, Davis, Friese, Gillespie, Nirenberg, Rice, 2009).
Oncology nurses play a vital role in educating other healthcare providers, patients and family
members, on chemotherapy side effect with patients who are neutropenic, especially handling the
central line.
Fawcett described four core concepts common to the individual paradigms, patient environment
health nursing, that were derived from existing nursing theories (Fawcett, 1984). The concept of the

1.What are the methods of inquiry and how are they used in criminal investigation?
The method of inquiry is based on gathering observable, empirical and measureable evidence.
Basically, methods of inquiry are ways that an investigator gathers the information for the case that
they are investigating. Methods of inquiry are used in criminal investigation by collecting evidence,
statement collection, and going through electronic databases and even the internet. The methods of

In my opinion, the investigators must apply the scientific method in every one of the investigations
that they do. The investigators must take all the information into their minds and ask themselves
what happened, how did it happen, and why did this crime happen. Once the investigator comes up
with the answers then will conduct experiments to see if their idea was the ultimate conclusion of
what happened.
So for an example, the investigator can say, this is a murder, the person was stabbed, and the
motive was this person was caught having an affair. After the investigator comes up with his
hypotheses he/she will then test it, if the evidence does not support his/her theory then he would
start over on figuring out what, why and how it all occurred.
4.Discuss the three primary sources of information for criminal investigators and provide detailed
practical examples of each source listed.
The three primary sources of information are Physical Evidence and Scientific Examinations,
Documentation, and information form people. Each source is valuable to an investigation in its
own way.
Physical evidence/scientific examinations is the evidence found at the scene of the crime. This
can include clothing, blood, fingerprints, weapons and much more. An example of physical
evidence could be any listed above but also a bloody knife or a casing from a bullet.

Causes And Treatment Of Pulmonary Edema
Abstract
Pulmonary edema can be divided into two categories, cardiogenic and non cardiogenic. Both of
these can be life threatening if not treated on time. One of the main characteristics of this disease is
the increased fluid in the interstitial spaces and alveoli in the lungs. Cardiogenic pulmonary edema
as the name implies, is cause by heart failure. The most common type of heart failure seen with
cardiogenic pulmonary edema is left ventricular failure also known as congestive heart failure
(CHF). On the other hand, non cardiogenic pulmonary edema can be caused by many factors
including high altitudes, drugs, inhaled toxins, etc. When a patient has pulmonary edema, some

Pulmonary edema is characterized as a restrictive pulmonary disorder. People with pulmonary
edema cannot fully fill their lungs with air due to stiffness of the lungs.
Definition
Pulmonary edema happens as a result from excessive movement of fluid from the vascular system
to the extravascular system and air spaces of the lungs.1,3 5,7,11 It is generally divided into two
main pathogenetic types which are hydrostatic (commonly cardiogenic) and permeability edema,
also termed normal pressure noncardiogenic.1 3,5,7 8,11Cardiogenic pulmonary edema is caused
by increased pressures in the heart. This condition occurs when the left ventricle is not able get out
enough of the blood it receives from the lungs (congestive heart failure).1,3,5 7 However,
Noncardiogenic, as the name implies, is not caused by the heart. In this condition, fluid may leak
from the capillaries in your lungs air sacs because the capillaries become more penetrable or leaky,

Othering In The Stranger
According to sociologists, othering is how individual s view or treat (a person or group of people)
as intrinsically different from and alien to oneself. In other terms, the idea of otherness is mainly
used for sociologically based analyses of how majority and minority identities are constructed.
According to The Strangerby Albert Camusand The Meursault Investigation by Kamel Daoud, both
authors inscribe the idea of othering in their pieces of literature unintentionally. The protagonists of
both novels come from distinct backgrounds and therefore, we witness a cultural clash amongst the
protagonist s beliefs and the societies they live in. This is especially confirmed because the
representation of different groups within any given society... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Both protagonists gave up on finding the purpose to their lives and began living animalistically
thinking primitively instead of cognitively. The effects of social pressure and othering also force
the protagonists to live by the existential philosophy which means they lack a sense of emotion and
interaction amongst other individuals. Meursault and Harun both state that they feel little to any
remorse after killing an innocent individual. The explanation for this is because they have the
mentality that shit just happens and there does not necessarily need to be a reason for it.
The philosophy of othering has extremely negative effects on society and the people in it. It
forces the idea of one group being better than the other. The sense of nationalism tied with
othering causes others to feel as though they do not belong or causes people to have too much
pride in themselves. We see being a part of either part if the spectrum only leads to chaos and

Indian Gaming Regulatory Act
Indian gaming can either be casinos, bingo halls, as well as gambling operations. Gambling is an
element of many traditional Indian cultures. The Indian Gaming Regulatory Act categorizes Indian
gaming into three classes, which are I, II, and III. Each gives different regulations. The act has
impacted and caused much controversy among reservations.
The Indian Gaming Regulatory Act was passed in 1988 by Congress. Indian gaming was a concern
in the states. Congress established a system to enable and regulate the gaming and gambling
enterprises of American Indian tribes. Class I is defined as games that are part of tribal ceremonies
and celebrations. It s traditional Indian gaming. Class II includes bingo or anything that is related to
bingo, such ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Regis Mohawk Reservation is located in New York and is adjacent to the Akwesasne reserve in
Canada. The Mohawk think of the entire community to be a whole. St. Regis Mohawk Res. took
in gambling in the 1980 s and has caused much controversy (Zielbauer, 1999). The elected chiefs
and the Warrior Society supported gambling, which the traditional chiefs did not. The Jay Treaty
allows the Mohawk people to pass across the Canada/United States border freely. Problems such as
smuggling cigarettes, drugs and liquor has become a problem on the reservation. New York has
also threatened to collect sales tax from gasoline and cigarettes on the reservation but hasn t.
Merchants that are near the reservation protest that tax free sales is an unfair advantage for Indian
owned businesses. The St. Regis Mohawk Reservation is next to a Superfund site, which is
contaminated with toxic chemicals, therefore the tribe has an advanced environment division.
I think that the IGRA has its positives and negatives. Casinos prey on addicts and alcohol/drug
abuse, but they also bring in billions of dollars that flourishes economic development. The act is
appropriate for its historical context because gaming brings pride to the reservation, such as Native
languages, culture and Indian dance. The thing about Native Americans, is that they are not
materialistic people. Gaming is more than just a source of money, it s an opportunity to gain

Empirical Formula Lab Report
Empirical Formula and Percent Composition of Magnesium Oxide
Prediction
Magnesium oxide is an ionic compound (metal cation bonded to non metal anion); therefore, we
can determine its formula using the ionic charges of magnesium (Mg2+), and oxygen (O2 ). To
comply with the octet rule, the elements combine at a ratio of 1:1;as a result, the formula is MgO
(s) . We can theoretically predict the empirical formula, and the percent composition, through this
procedure:
1) Two moles of magnesiumcombines with two moles of oxygen.
2Mg(s) + O2 (g) 2MgO(s)
Mg= 2 moles
O = 2 moles
2) Divide both values by the smallest value and place the results in ratio form. In this case, the ratio
is simply 1:1.
3) This ratio represents the number of magnesium ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This does not support my hypothesis, but there are possibilities why the experimental result did not
match the prediction:
There might have been unevaporated water left in the crucible, which would increase the weight of
the oxygen . For example, of the 0.06 grams of oxygen measured, 0.02 grams could have been
unevaporated water.
There might have been some unreacted magnesium. This could have happened if some
magnesium strips were covered by others, eliminating their exposure to air. Due to this, the mass
of oxygen increases since it is naturally diatomic and doubles up. For example, out of the 0.06
grams of magnesium, 0.02 grams might not have reacted. This unreacted metal allows an oxygen
(which would have otherwise been bonded to it) to double up with itself and increase the mass of
total oxygen.
Always, there could be mechanical error and human error. Since the crucible was an open system,
mass could have entered or left due to air currents, or vibrations. No matter how small, any
inaccuracy caused by these errors could have resulted in the higher measurement of oxygen
recorded in this

Boston Marathon
Boston Marathon bombs: when was the moment of radicalisation for the Tsarnaev brothers?
One was a pot loving student, the other had begun exploring Islam in an effort to turn his life
around. So how did Dzhokhar and Tamerlan Tsarnaev end up at the Boston Marathon finishing line
with a willingness to kill?

The moment of the explosion at the Boston Marathon Photo

As they hunched over the twisted bomb parts and pieces of shrapnel, some still bloody from where
they cut through flesh, the FBI technicians were finding a grimly familiar pattern.

short but disfiguring length. Gunpowder, cannibalised from the kind ... Show more content on

Tamerlan Dzhokhar (Julia Malakie/Lowell Sun)
Both friends and authorities believe the darkest influence of all was his 26 year old brother,
Tamerlan, who is said to have been both a father figure for him and the driving force behind the
attack.
Unlike his quiet younger sibling, who became a US citizen on the eleventh anniversary of the 9/11
attack on the World Trade Center, Tamerlan was fiery and theatrical.
He was a flashy, eccentric fellow, said Eddie Bishop, a boxing trainer who moved in the same
amateur fighting circles as Tamerlan. Mr Bishop recalled an occasion in 2009 when he came into
the ring in cowboy hat, boots and leather trousers. I saw him as someone who had a lot of ability
but lacked the stillness and confidence of a fighter s heart, he said.
Over time, Tamerlan swapped his gaudy outfits for a growing religious fervor and once casual
references to his Muslim faith evolved into prayer mats in the gym and constant talk of Islam.
Katherine Russell (AP)
He married Katherine Russell, a 24 year old American convert to Islam, in June 2010 in a hastily
arranged ceremony at a Dorchester mosque, where a red and green Islamic flag hangs next to the
US Stars and Stripes.
It was a happy ceremony short and to the point, said Imam Taalib Mahdee on

  • 2. Naipaul Does Not Deserve his Nobel Prize Essay What makes an individual worthy of a Nobel Prize in a category as broad as literature? Is it an immense knowledge of writing procedures that other authors have not begun to attempt to use? Or is an appropriate representation of the author s subject that is solely objective, and lacks all personal opinions? If that was the case, several Prizes should be taken away from some authors and handed to other more deserving writers. V. S. Naipaul, who received a Nobel Prizein Literature for Miguel Street, falls into the former category. Naipaul may have filled the technical requirements for a Nobel Prize for his mastery of several difficult techniques, yet his writing neglects to explain the merits of Trinidad while highlighting the negatives... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... What did Nobel actually mean by ideal? In fact, the history of the Literature Prize appears as a series of attempts to interpret an imprecisely worded will. A comparison with Porgy and Bess has been suggested. (C. Pierre) The parallel has at least the merit of reminding us that the whole world is one. In that hospitable mood we might also remember Mark Twain s tales of life on the Mississippi. But Miguel Street, in Trinidad, is not really very much like Catfish Row, nor are reminders of nineteenth century Missouri prevalent. What is true and, if you will, significant about Mr. Naipaul s book is that it presents a world of its own excellently. Vivid characters with tenuous means of support populate the place. They sing the latest Calypso songs and interest themselves in cricket matches and collect junk and talk about migrating across the narrow sea to Venezuela. If their attitude toward morals is informal it is shown openly, not covertly. Their standards of courage are high. They speculate endlessly on the tremendous trifles and mysteries that have troubled man s thinking throughout his tenure on our strange planet. A room with a view of a mango tree may contain a boisterously quarrelsome family or a recluse devoted to carpentry or scholarship. • 4. Environmental Factors In Marigolds By Eugenia Collier In one s everyday life, we are surrounded with environmental factors that could potentially shape the aspects of our lives. These types of factors range anywhere from negative to positive on a broad spectrum. For instance in Eugenia Collier s short story Marigolds , The main character Lizabeth, is surrounded by an abundance of environmental factors, as she struggles with own internal conflictof coming to terms that her reign of innocence is slowly fading away. As the story continues, Lizabeth s environmental factors are exposed, and as a result of these factors, she commits certain actions, in which she faces consequences for. The particular theme that is emitted from this short narrative, is symbolic experiences that one may experience in life, have a probability of changing aspects in our lives . This is tied in with main emphasize of exploring in the text how this particular theme is exposed by the characters, setting, and the plot of the story. During the course of the story, Marigolds are repetitively brought up in the dialogue, and the thoughts of the characters. In fact, the title of the story is Marigolds , but what might be the significance behind the title? Well for starters the main purpose of the title is a play on the symbolism that Marigolds represent, which includes passion, creativity, cruelty, grief, and jealousy. This type of symbolism is then incorporated in the main characters Lizabeth and Ms.Lottie s persona throughout the text. Evidence to support this claim is in the text it states, For some perverse reason, we children hated those Marigolds. They infuriated with the perfect ugliness of the place; they were too beautiful; they said too much; they did not make sense(Collier, Eugenia). As displayed in the quote the traits reflected upon Lizabeth s persona was jealousy. This is stated because in the quote Lizabeth rambles about the negative aspects of the marigolds and does not name one positive attribute, this is practical behavior that is associated with jealousy. The last piece of evidence to support the significance behind the title is in the text it states The old black witch woman worked on them all summer, every summer, down on her creaky knees, weeding cultivating and ... Although you, my good friend who has been seriously considering going into design for some time, may already know a bit about design, I thought it a good idea to let you know about what a few of the sources I have been reading have to say about being a designer. Also, I wanted to let you know what these sources say in regard to the place of designers and of designers work in the larger society. Unfortunately, I will not be able to give you the full run down, but I have chosen the best just for you. Jumping ahead a bit to my summary of findings, I found that designers have special responsibilities lot of them. They have to think about the people with which they work, the consumers of their designs, the manufacturers of their designs, and the nature of the material with which they work. Also, design should not be thought of as a way in which people show mastery and control over the world. To do this is a bad idea because it can have a negative impact on a person s morals. Now that I have given you an overview of my findings, I will let you know more about how I came to these conclusions. In deciding whether designers have any special responsibilities, I found the articles A Buddhist Perspective on Industrial Engineering and the Design of Work by Wei Tau Lee, James A. If we add HCl to the hydrogen peroxide, then the reaction will be stronger than the control group because the acids are working together. The data that was collected supported our hypothesis on the water group , because the kPa pressure went from 0 to 108 in sixty seconds. However it did not support our hypothesis on the hydrocloric acid group only went 0 to 102 in sixty seconds. The water group reaction was less extreme because the hydrogen peroxide was diluted, but the hydrochloric acid group was not more extreme because the acids did not work together like we predicted they would. Our data could have been more accurate if pressure was applied to the test tube the second the liver was dropped into the mixture. If the liver solution was blended / processed properly (how it would inside the liver organ), so that the puree stayed consistent with livers position, along with this how the liver was preserved might also play a role in the lab data by decreasing things such as it s properties. This could have been prevented if it was fresh liver with no processing. Also to have more valid data, more data could be collected and averaged. • 20. The Dynasty Of Chinese History Essay The Six Dynasty period in Chinese historiography is often classified with moments of conflict, revolt, strife, famine, disunity, and not innovation. Historians and academics categorize the period as a placeholder between the more significant Han China 206 BCE to 220 CE and the Tang dynasty 618 to 907 CE. Understandably, Han Chinas military, infrastructure, and civil capabilities were rivalled only by that of the Roman Empire, and even then, the Han dynasties administrative capabilities were rivalled by none. The Tang period is widely considered to be the high point of Chinese culture and civilization, where cosmopolitan China emerged with force vastly shaping China for centuries to come. The significance of the Han and Tang dynasties is not in question, it is the lack of importance that historians confer on the Six Dynastiesperiod. Admittedly the Six Dynasty period in Chinese history can be categorized as a warring period, in which China did not develop unilaterally, but separately along fractured lines (split both north south, and east west). Much like the European medieval period, there are few accessible sources from early medieval china, and because of this, China s six dynasty period is brushed over as a period of little advancement and innovation. Heaney adds meaning to his poem by metaphorically comparing blackberries to pleasurable things in our lives and that they should be savored in the moment rather than stored. The author s choice of blackberries in the summer has a subtle significance. Because blackberries only ripen in the summer and because they spoil easily, he is able to convey how precious these blackberries are and why the narrator lusts for them. • 26. The Importance Of Vital Signs Of Essential Signs Essay The Importance of Vital Signs: Introduction Vital signs are common exams performed by medical professionals that assess the essential functions of the human body. These exams are imperative in a clinical setting as they help to determine the overall health of a patient. During a routine vital sign examination, hospital personnel such as nurses or certified nursing assistants must evaluate the patient s body temperature, pulserate, respiratory rate, and blood pressure in order to obtain an adequate assessment of the patient. Typically, radiographers are not often required to collect their patients vital signs. However, it is crucial for a radiographer to know how to acquire a patient s vital signs in case of an emergency situation. In this article, I will tell you why graffiti is in fact a form of vandalism, and that we should try to wipe out all form of graffiti in this city. Graffiti negatively impacts societies for several reasons. First of all, removing graffitifrom walls and other structures are draining our tax funds. Money that could be used to build parks, community centers, and schools, are instead being used to clean graffiti. In the U.S.A, cities such as Chicago and Phoenix spend millions upon millions of dollars on graffiti cleanup. Children are also negatively influenced by graffiti. For example, we could form neighborhood watch groups to catch anyone trying to vandalize one of our houses. We could also all have a fund raiser to buy and install security cameras around the neighborhood. And if, by any chance, our homes and structures do get vandalized, we could organize an event were all the residents of the neighborhood all work together to clean the graffiti. Also, if a resident witnesses someone doing graffiti, they should immediately call the authorities. Removal of graffiti within 24 48 hours is proven to decrease the amount of graffiti in an area, so we mustn t wait or procrastinate. We should create a new bylaw, which heavily punishes those who vandalize other people s property, because right now, under the current bylaw, a graffiti artist will only have to either pay a small fine or clean up his graffiti. This bylaw is too lenient, and in order to cleanse this city from graffiti we must inflict harsh punishment. For example, we should make them pay a hefty fine, clean up their graffiti, take away their ID card, strip them of their passport for a short while, and send them to jail for at least a month. This might seem too harsh but after the first handful of graffiti artists go through this no ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 29. Summary Of A Court Of Thorns And Roses In 1943, Abraham Maslow developed the psychological theory named the hierarchy of needs, which describes motivational patterns that humans advance through. The first tier consists of physiological needs such as food, warmth, and rest. After one accomplishes these, they move onto the second tier full of safety needs such as security and shelter. Then the third tier makes up belonging needs like friends and intimate relationships. The fourth tier consists of esteem needs and feelings of accomplishment. Self actualization makes up the fifth and final tier, by achieving one s full potential. A Court of Thorns and Roses by Sarah J. Maas displays Maslow s Hierarchy of needs by the main character Feyre, starting in the bottom tier, slowly moving her way up to the second and third tier, falling back into the bottom tier, and eventually ending in the third tier. When the books first begins, Feyre, the protagonist, is the daughter of a merchant who lost all his wealth. She lives with her father and two older sisters in a one bedroom shack, that does nothing to keep the cold out. Feyre provides all of the food for the family by hunting in the woods and selling the skins of animals for whatever money she can get. Feyre states that We d finished our last loaf of bread yesterday, and the remainder of our dried meat the day before (Maas 2). This shows the severity of the situation, and she even continues further by saying, We wouldn t last another week without food (Maas 3). Feyre ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

As of now, no one can give the right answer to the problem or the reason that it happens because there is no right answer yet and nobody can be sure that they know the cause. A young male, who is brought up in a violent household, is more likely to be violent outside of the home. This idea brings us back to the saying monkey see, monkey do; what children see is what they will do. Among our many solutions to youth violence is the idea that too many guns are not the problem, but too few guns is the problem. However, there is something special about substance abuse fatalities from substance use are considered preventable. Take deaths associated with driving under the influence of alcohol, lung cancer brought on by smoking, or heart attacks associated with cocaine use. A person could die in a car crash, from lung cancer, or a heart attack without ever touching alcohol, cigarettes, or cocaine respectively. However, there is an increase in death associated with these items. The most curious part of this is the legal versus illegal categorization of substances. According to the Center for Disease Control, tobacco is considered the leading cause of preventable death (CDC, 2016). Yet, not only is it legal, a person in the U.S. can purchase cigarettes as young as 18, which is three years earlier than the legal age to drink alcohol. This knowledge leads to questions about addictionand prevalence of substance use. Besides being readily available and highly addictive, are there other factors in the use and abuse of legal substances and are they good indicators of illicit drug use? Obscenity Laws Texts Schools And Public Libraries Daniel Wilson Avril Torrence ENGL 382 10 April 2015 Obscenity Laws Texts In Schools And Public Libraries Obscenity Laws Texts in Schools and Public Libraries Introduction Morality is a virtue that all humans ought to embrace. The different societies where we live in have set standards that provide guidelines that all are to follow. However, with all the set conditions, a section of the population still chose to go astray. Through their actions, verbally and in all manners known to them, this group upholds obscene vices that are a deterrent to the community s standards of decency (Ryder 210). Obscene practices extend to those materials that are intended to invoke impure sexual thoughts. These materials spread in publications to schools and public libraries at high rates. The question arises that, to what limit should a material be labeled as obscene? Certain fiction writers do not consider the use of euphemisms in their works and at certain times cause intentional ambiguity that attracts diverse reactions from their readers. This phenomenon comes about from what is termed as the reception theory. The mind tends to develop in accordance with the exposure (Cossman 50). It is evident that these scenes tend to be more attractive to the unsuspecting persons, mostly teenagers; therefore, developing strategies to protect them is essential. The Canadian government believes that continuing to produce these materials can corrupt the minds of the readers and the wider population. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The research presented in Trustworthy Hardware from Untrusted Components looks at the present state of hardware security, analyzes the vulnerabilities and possible solutions, and presents an alternative approach to ensure that the end result of the hardware design process is a secure and trustworthy piece of hardware. There are many factors that contribute to the current susceptibility of hardware to attacks. Modern hardware design practices incorporate the use of more third party intellectual property (IP) components, such as USB components. Modern hardware design practices require that a piece of hardware pass through thousands of engineers in the stages from design to manufacture. Modern hardware is much more complex than what has been manufactured in the past. Finally, modern hardware is designed by teams with relatively few designers for each subcomponent. In an idealistic world, hardware would be designed and manufactured in a single secure location with trusted personnel handling the process from inception to manufacture; however, this idea is ineffective and cost prohibitive making it unlikely to be put into practice. Hardware design follows a very similar process as the software engineering lifecycle and even has many of the same steps. For instance, the first step in both processes is to gather the specifications for the requirements. The ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

There have been many advances in oncology care; unfortunately infections from healthcare settings and the community are a major cause of hospitalizations and death in patients receiving chemotherapy treatment via central lines. As healthcare providers, preventing infection with patients who develop chemotherapy induced neutropenia can significantly decrease mortality and morbidity for patients with cancer (Bush, Davis, Friese, Gillespie, Nirenberg, Rice, 2009). Oncology nurses play a vital role in educating other healthcare providers, patients and family members, on chemotherapy side effect with patients who are neutropenic, especially handling the central line. Empirical Formula Lab Report Empirical Formula and Percent Composition of Magnesium Oxide Prediction Magnesium oxide is an ionic compound (metal cation bonded to non metal anion); therefore, we can determine its formula using the ionic charges of magnesium (Mg2+), and oxygen (O2 ). To comply with the octet rule, the elements combine at a ratio of 1:1;as a result, the formula is MgO (s) . We can theoretically predict the empirical formula, and the percent composition, through this procedure: 1) Two moles of magnesiumcombines with two moles of oxygen. 2Mg(s) + O2 (g) 2MgO(s) Mg= 2 moles O = 2 moles 2) Divide both values by the smallest value and place the results in ratio form. This unreacted metal allows an oxygen (which would have otherwise been bonded to it) to double up with itself and increase the mass of total oxygen. Always, there could be mechanical error and human error. Since the crucible was an open system, mass could have entered or left due to air currents, or vibrations. No matter how small, any inaccuracy caused by these errors could have resulted in the higher measurement of oxygen recorded in this ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 45. Boston Marathon Boston Marathon bombs: when was the moment of radicalisation for the Tsarnaev brothers? One was a pot loving student, the other had begun exploring Islam in an effort to turn his life around. So how did Dzhokhar and Tamerlan Tsarnaev end up at the Boston Marathon finishing line with a willingness to kill? Unlike his quiet younger sibling, who became a US citizen on the eleventh anniversary of the 9/11 attack on the World Trade Center, Tamerlan was fiery and theatrical. He was a flashy, eccentric fellow, said Eddie Bishop, a boxing trainer who moved in the same amateur fighting circles as Tamerlan. Mr Bishop recalled an occasion in 2009 when he came into the ring in cowboy hat, boots and leather trousers. I saw him as someone who had a lot of ability but lacked the stillness and confidence of a fighter s heart, he said. Over time, Tamerlan swapped his gaudy outfits for a growing religious fervor and once casual references to his Muslim faith evolved into prayer mats in the gym and constant talk of Islam. Katherine Russell (AP) He married Katherine Russell, a 24 year old American convert to Islam, in June 2010 in a hastily arranged ceremony at a Dorchester mosque, where a red and green Islamic flag hangs next to the US Stars and Stripes. It was a happy ceremony short and to the point, said Imam Taalib Mahdee on ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
