Cons Of Code Switching
Do you know what GTG or LOL means? Many people use text talk, but does it really affect your
schoolwork. Many people believe that code switching is helping students with their writing and
they also think that when you abbreviate for a word you learn how it is spelled. Other theories
suggest that text talk seeps into your writingand influences you to use improper grammar. Code
switching is when you distinguish between the informal and formal languageand use it to talk in
different environments. Studies show that students are easily able to code switch depending on the
audience and content. Many people believe that if teachers teach students how to code switch and
why it is important, that it could make teenagers writing more sophisticated.

Summary Of The Book A Clockwork Orange, Burgess By...
In the fiction world, writers have an idea of creating society with perfect human morals but
establishing those ideas to real life people can see that there is no such thing as perfect. Anthony
Burgess incorporates this idea into many of his works which accentuate many dark points in his
life; he lost both, his mother and sister at a young age, and his first sexual experience was when he
was seduced by an older woman (41 Facts on Anthony Burgess). The fact the Anthony had many
occupations such like a linguist, critic, poetic, etc. show the vast amount of knowledge and views
he has on the world. He also loved to mix in human nature with religion, trying to help express the
nature of both and the good and evil each represent. Anthony Burgess... Show more content on

This is Alex s character which amplifies his actions and the situations he encounters, the
audience show more positive feeling rather than negative because of the way the story is being
told, Alex is our humble narrator. It is not naturally glorified that violence is a pleasant thing but
the he audience laughs at Alex s actions, which suggest that comedy reveals the basic
contradictions of human nature and of social relations (Bloom). In one of the his poems in
Inside of Mr. Enderby, a young man becomes irritated due to the fact that he is surrounded by
joyful activities, Sick of the sycophantic singing, sick of every afternoon s compulsory games,
sick of the little cliques of county names, he let the inner time bomb start to tick (FIVE
REVOLUTIONARY SONNETS), in a sense Burgess is trying to tell his audience that violence
is essential for human nature. This poem helps highlight the fact that not everyone feels the same
about different things, because the boy is not content even though everyone else is. The sonnet
Eden shows a young boy trying to clean himself of blood in a lake in this case the blood
represent sin. The setting in this work is in the biblical reference to the Garden of Eve, the boy
knowing that having blood (sin) on his hand act on his own to cleanse himself. He, in a way shows
panic because he cannot clean it off and even so continues to do so. In each work Burgess

There is no minimum age to become an athletic trainer most start at early 20s and retire around
late 50s. There are mainly more physical demands than health. An athletic trainer needs to be
able to carry injured athletes, 10 gallon water containers, and medical kits. Completing physical
testing procedures of muscles and ligaments to all body joints, and taping procedures in a good
amount of time. Running across uneven field surfaces to care for emergency situations and
being able to perform CPR and First Aid procedures to an athlete that is injured. Athletic trainers
personalities should be decisive, confident, be able to listen and lead, observant, and be able to
remain calm in midst of a crisis. The more experience you have in these types of professions is
the better, because many employers will consider new graduates with no experience. They say it
is advised to gain experience during school, by having this experience it makes them competitive
candidates on the job market. A bachelor s degree is standard, and a master s degree is common.
You must have at least a bachelor s degree to become a athletic trainer. To become a licensed
athletic trainer you are suggested to join a degree program that has been accredited by the
Commission on accreditation of athletic training education and they must also pass a
comprehensive test administered by the board of certification. Also must have a CPR certification
license, which is needed in most states. The most easiest method of getting into this profession is
earning a simple bachelor s degree instead of continuing to get a masters degree, or simply go thru

Negative Forces In Lord Of The Flies
During extreme hardships, the trauma and conditions experienced, can bring out the worst in
people. The Lord of The Flies, written by William Golding, is a novel based off of World War II.
The british school boys in Lord of the Flies, express the extreme trauma and conditions people
faced during the war era. Golding uses changes in the school boys mentalities and actions
through their use of fire to show that severe conditions can bring out the worst in people. When
the boys first arrive on the desolate island they begin to use the fire as a reminder of home and
warmth. The first time the boys manage to safely alight (97) the fire they made it for the thought
of warmth and the starting need to be rescued. Later on after getting their bearings on the remote
island, the boys begin to create order and law in the tribe. One of the laws is that someone has to
watch the signal fire on top of the mountain at every time. Eric and Sam were lighting the fire
which caused warmth to [radiate] and beat pleasantly on them (97) showing that the fire was used
for comfort and no rescue. Also the boys, specifically Ralph and Piggy, thought that there was
something good about the fire (find) besides rescue. Both boy considered the fire as a good thing
they could use with control. Quickly the fire changes into something else. The schoolboys trapped
on the nameless island quickly come to realize they can use the fire to their advantage. They could
use it for rescue. At first the thought

Analysis Of Shakespeare s Oedipus Rex
Most people who have had a classical education or ever ingested any media in their lifetime have
likely heard the name, Shakespeare. A true mogul of the Elizabethan Theatre era, Shakespeare has
written 37 plays and over 154 sonnets that are still performed on stages today. Similarly, anyone
who has ever picked up a book has read about Sigmund Freudor some of his theories. Freud
established many of the modern practices used in psychiatry and taught in psychology classes
worldwide. Freud is a pioneer of psychology just as Shakespeare is to literature and theatre. They
are two of the greatest minds our world knows, but how are these vastly different scholars related?

Perhaps Hamlet prefers if it was him in his uncle s place. With all the evidence, it is almost as if
Shakespeare was hinting at Hamlet s oedipal maternal desires. His attitude and state of mind
throughout the story can be attributed to how he feels about his mother remarrying. For
example, Hamlet is sulking around in a black cloak as he questions why ``[Gertrude] would
hang on [Claudius]/ As if increase of appetite had grown/ By what it fed on (I.ii.347 348). He is
very clearly expressing verbally how upset he is when pondering his mother and her new lover,
but he is also expressing it physically by wearing black even though his father is But two
months dead (I.ii.342). Hamlet s grieving period is over and therefore has no need to wear black
anymore. He is wearing black and sulking now because he is grieving his mother s love. For she
has moved on and found a new man to bed, thus jealousy ensues. This is something that happens
frequently when a new alpha male enters a relationship dynamic, parental or sexual. More
evidence of his inappropriate maternal love is shown by the way he treats Ophelia. It is said by
Freud and other psychologists that the relationship you have with your lover mirrors the
relationship you have with your parental figures. It is no coincidence that the way he batters her
with his word and destroys her conscious relates more to the relationship with his mother than that
with Ophelia. The power of beauty will

Why Relationships Fail
Some people think that heartbreak is the worst feeling in the world. Many relationships have
gone wrong, leaving more questions than answers. Why does it sometimes feel like a broken
heart hurts worse than a broken bone? Do feelings really have that much of an impact on a person
s day to day life? There are a number of reasons why a relationshipfails. Jealousy, attachment,
detachment, selfishness, time, trust, communication, honesty, and acceptance are just a few reasons.
Do opposites really attract? Maybe at first. It s hard to maintain a relationship when two people
have absolutely nothing in common. It could be the simplest of things such as what type of movies

You start to think that nobody will understand what you re going through. You don t have any
goals. Or you just stop believing that there isn t anything out there for you to hold onto that has any
meaning to your life.
Life isn t about the what ifs or maybes or the destination, it s about the journey and what you can
overcome to make you a better person. It s about setting goals and doing your best to succeed.
There is nothing in life that you have to prove to anybody but yourself. Everybody is a unique
individual that nobody else can compare to. If you felt that you couldn t be yourself in a
relationship then that s something that needs to be reevaluated. You could look at a failed
relationship as an obstacle in life that you have to overcome in order to become a better, stronger
person.
Placing blame on a failed relationship and putting too much thought into the question Why?, isn t
really fair to either party involved. It is not necessarily one person s fault or because one specific
event that happened. If two people were together, for however long, then something about the
other person must have made you happy at one point during your relationship. Every relationship
needs time and space away from each other as well as together. A time when you can each find
who you are as an individual to better be a couple.
Not everybody has a successful relationship right off the bat. A successful relationship takes time
and effort to build

Assyrian Art Essay
Assyrian Art
The reliefs from the palace of King Assurnasirpal II at Nimrud play an important role in
portraying the power and importance of the Assyrian king. These reliefs are similar to other
Assyrian reliefs in terms of their purpose; however, there is a contrast in the methods used to
glorify the king. By examining such factors as style, iconography and historical significance, we
find many similarities and differences between the ceremonial reliefs and the more common reliefs
depicting war and hunting.
The reliefs belonging to the sacred or ceremonial category consist of panels depicting a sacred
tree, a human headed genius fertilizing a sacred tree, a griffin fertilizing a sacred tree, and a scene
of King Assurnasirpal (whose ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In term of stylization, both the human headed deities and Assurnasirpal have very stylized hair
falling in straight locks to the back of their necks; furthermore, they possess highly stylized beards
of intricate waves and ringlets which end evenly at the bottom.
Because these features are similar to that of Assurbanipal and the mythological bullmen at the
palace at Khorsabad, it can be construed that it is a coiffure characteristic of royalty and divinity
alike (Art History Anthology 28).
Moving on to the facial expression, we find that all the human headed figures contain large
eyebrows, large eyes that are deeply undercut, an elongated nose, conventionalized ears, and highly
conventionalized lips which appear as a simple slit. On the other hand, the beardless griffin has an
eagle s head adorned with a feather headdress and a curved beak with a long tongue. To show the
strength of the deities and Assurnasirpal, the artist depicts muscles within the arms and legs through
simple lines and curves. This style of depicting the facial and body features is common in other
Assyrian reliefs including the hunting scenes of Assurbanipal.
Although there are many similarities in body structure, there is also a distinctive element that
separates the deities and the king. Each deity possesses a set of four highly stylized wings made up
of very detailed

Essay about Nathaniel Hawthorne s Use of Symbolism
Nathaniel Hawthorne is a prominent writer who uses many different elements in his works. He
uses elements such as symbolism, figurative language, metaphor, irony and etc. to make his work
prominent. In the works by Nathaniel Hawthorne, he uses symbols for secret sin in The Scarlet
Letter, The Minister s Black Veil, and Dr. Heidegger s Experiment.
As seen in The Scarlet letter, the symbol for secret sin is the Scarlet letter A. The A represents the
sin in which Hester commits adultery with the town s minister, Dimmesdale. One example of
secret sin is when Hester first walks out of prison; for the first time she wore the letter A on her
breast to show her crime. The A very well represents her secret sin. Even Dimmesdale curves...

In addition, Nathaniel Hawthorne uses many symbols in The Scarlet Letter.
Moreover, the symbol of secret sin also appears in The Minister s Black Veil. When the people
of the town first saw Mr. Hooper wearing the black veil, they were all wondering why he would
wear such thing. To Mr. Hooper, the black veil means deceit and sins to those who can not
separate themselves from their sins. One example is when he is wearing the black veil to the
wedding, and everyone is kind of skeptic about why he is wearing it but in reality, he wore it to
remind everyone of their sins. Because of this, people call him evil, and he soon became an
outcast. The black veil can also represent his own sin that he committed in the past in which he can
never forgive himself. Symbols for secret sin are once again used in Nathanial Hawthorne s works.
Additionally, symbols for serest sin are also use in Dr. Heidegger s Experiment. In this story, Dr.
Heidegger s sin is playing with God because he basically made up a story about the whole
Fountain of Youth to his friends. But for him, this is all an experiment because he wants to see
how his friends will react to their pretend younger selves, and if they have changed their
personality. One example is when they drank the Water of Youth; Dr. Heidegger s friends became
addicted to the water asking for more. Dr. Heidegger is playing God to his friends just for his
experiment. Once again, Nathaniel Hawthorne

Ethical Issues That Arise In Jenner s Vaccination Against Smallpox
In Edward Jenner s Vaccination Against Smallpox, the way Jenner experiments on the people in his
village questions whether or not his actions were ethical. Jenner s work on the people in his
community addresses many health risks due to the smallpox disease, his work may have had both
purpose and justification, but the way Jenner carried out his experiments were very dangerous and
harmful to his community. Jenner put many people s lives in jeopardy including men, women and
even young innocent children. If the Nuremburg Code was established prior to Jenner s time,
Jenner s work might have been rejected. Jenner s work may have been rejected because in his

In the beginning of Jenner s inquiry he assumed that a disease called the grease was the source
of how the smallpox came about (Jenner, 13). In fact, it was proven later on, that the grease had
no ties or connection to the smallpox disease whatsoever. The grease only shared a connection
with the cowpox disease (Jenner, 14). Jenner concluded that the grease and the cow pox were the
same disease which was proved to be incorrect according to the footnotes of the editor (Jenner,
15). A lot of people may question whether or not it is just to inoculate humans with a deadly
disease just to satisfy curiosity about a subject. Jenner put a lot of people lives at risk. Jenner
treated everyone like nonhuman scientific subjects for his use of research and observation.
The smallpox disease carried the possibility of death. Jenner tested his theory on some humans
who were in perfect health. In case 17, Jenner mentioned that in order for him to accurately observe
the progress of the infection, he inoculated a healthy eight year old boy with the cowpox and then
the smallpox (Jenner, 24). This boy never had either diseases, but yet Jenner still chose to inoculate
him which was very unethical. By injecting both the cowpox and the smallpox put these healthy
individuals at dangerous risk. No point in Jenner s inquiry does Jenner mention him getting verbal
or written consent from the people in his village.

Symbolism In Lot Of The Lottery By Shirley Jackson
Lot of the Lottery
Brittney Hale
ENGL 1302
Ms. Mary Elle Young
10 03 17
Shirley Jackson s The Lottery , is a story that is filled with symbolism. The author uses symbolism
to help her represent the human race as cruel no matter how righteous he or she may see
themselves, or how perfect their way of life may seem to be. The story is very effective in making
the reader question the unnecessary nature humans express, especially when it comes to tradition or
violent behavior. Jackson effectively expresses her beliefs concerning mankind s true nature that is
commonly masked behind tradition. The author portrays how inhumane and cruel people can be
when it comes to their values and everyday life. Jackson presents the theme of this short story with a
major use of symbolism. Symbolism is shown throughout the setting of The Lottery, objects,
contestant s names and numbers.
The author makes it well known to the reader that the black box is the central theme of the
passage. The box symbolizes, at first, that something more ominous is to come. Jackson s choice
of the color black is a perfect example for the story, it symbolizes death and complete darkness. A
town person s fate lies in the hands of this inanimate object. The black box is an excellent
representation of the sacrifice the citizens are willing to give to keep up with traditions. The
author not only used the color of the box to symbolize what was happening in the town, but also
the condition of the box. The no longer completely black but splintered box portrays the decaying
of the original religious ideals the lottery (Jackson 230) was founded upon. Even though the
citizens felt uneasy about the box, and would even keep their distance from the stool with the
black box on it (thoughtco). They do not question the origin of the black box, but they accept it as
a way of life.
The names of the character play a significant role in developing the story. Quite a few of the
names are more obvious than others, such as Delacroix, which translates as of the cross . Others,
such as Adams, make the reader think more in depth about them. One of the main characters, Mrs.
Delacroix, appears often in the story. She is a companion of Tessie, the

Women s Role Of Women In The Victorian Era
Victorian Era was an era in which women had endless predicaments in their lives. Women had
restriction, such as: what subjects they should study, they were not allowed to vote, they were
not grand their fortune after marriage, she should not leave the domestic sphere, and who
should be submissive. The role model for this concept was Queen Victoria herself, who, together
with her husband, Albert, had nine children and embodied the perfect family. She was even
described as the mother of the nation (BBC, Web). As I strongly disagree with the women s
treatment back then, I want to celebrate in this essay woman who, even a little bit broke the
constraints and enjoyed their lives in a period of oppressions. The beginning of this new women
era, in which women asked to be heard, started with Sunday Schools, in which the majority of
volunteers were women, so they begin to go out and interact with other people. The ones that are
to be blamed for the women s situation in Victorian Period are the women themselves, as Sarah
Grand explains in her The New Aspect of the Woman Question: We have allowed him to arrange
the whole social system...Man deprived us of all proper education, and then jeered at us because
we had no knowledge. He narrowed our outlook on life so that our view of it should be all

Character Analysis Of Dorian Gray And The Picture Of...
Dorian Gray from The Picture of Dorian Gray, and the player from Doki Doki Literature Club
are both the protagonist of their stories and share a similar personality trait The Two Face. The
Two Face is a character that expresses two different sides to their personality one that they keep
hidden and the one that they show to others. Dorian s Two Face personality is the split of his
physical body, which does not age and allows Dorian to do what he wants in his society, and his
painting, which changes form to reflect Dorian s sinful acts; meanwhile the Player s Two Face
personality share the same body, that of the characterwho is written to forget the strange or
unnerving events that happens within the game, and the person playing the game, who will most
likely remember the events for a long time. Both Dorian and the player get what they want without
much refusal from the other character. For instance, in The Picture of Dorian Gray, Basil, when
wanting to paint Dorian s picture without Lord Henry staying in the room, Dorian begs Basil to
let Lord Henry stay, to which Basil agrees, adding Dorian s whims are laws to everybody, except
himself (Wilde, 19). This hints at the early whims of Basil giving in to and seeing the good side
of Dorian, but it is more of Dorian wanting Lord Henry to stay with him to influence him of his
ideology of only liking things for the beauty, not the substance, since Lord Henry gave him a bit of
advice earlier in the confrontation of the three men;

Informative Speech On The Black Sox Scandal
General Purpose: I will inform the class about an event in history.
Specific Purpose: I would like to inform people on the 1919 Black Sox Scandal in Major League
Baseball.
Introduction
Attention Getter: In 2008 the New York Giants won the Super Bowl by defeating the previously
unbeaten New England Patriots in what most sports fans call one of the greatest upsets in sports
history. What would you think if I told you the Patriots lost the game on purpose? They didn t, but
in 1919 eight members of the Chicago White Sox conspired to intentionally lose the World Series
against the Cincinnati Reds in what people now refer to as the Black Sox Scandal.
Speaker Credibility:
My uncle is a huge sports buff and he s often talked to me about this specific scandal. I remember
growing up and still hearing how upset this scandal made him. Its something that still prevalent in
todays sports.
Relate the topic to the audience:
You all probably have watched sports at some time and it should be very interesting for you guys to
know about some drama within the sports industry.
Specific purpose:
Today I want to share with you the story of the black sox scandal of 1919.
Preview of Main Points:
I will talk to you about why the Whitesoxs were the favorites, why the Whitesoxs players didn t like
their management, and how that affected how baseball changed his management.
Body
A.Transition: Heading into the World Series the White Sox were heavy favorites, and people in
both cities believed they would make quick work of the Reds.
I.Throughout the time leading up to the 1919 World Series, reporters in both Chicago and
Cincinnati spoke about how good the World Series would be, and the odds makers listed the White
Sox as heavy favorites.
A.The former MLB pitcher Cristy Mathewson, predicted the best played series in years .
1.He gave the edge on pitching to the Reds, but believed the White Sox offense and experience
gave them a better chance at victory.
2.He also pointed to the fact the Sox played in a better league and had a tougher road to the series,
making them ready for a fight
B.Gamblers also made the White Sox heavy favorites in the World Series.

The Field Of Applied Behavioral Science
The field of Applied Behavioral Science s future will be greatly affected by contemporary issues
that involve the creation of the Association of Professional Behavior Analysts (APBA), board
certification limitations, and the Behavior Analyst Certification Board (BACB).
First it is important to examine the effects that the APBA will have on ABS future. The creation of
the APBA will have many negative affects on the field of behavioral analysis as a whole. Many
behavior analysts believe that the Association for Behavior Analysis International (ABAI), which is
comprised mainly of individuals whom have a primarily scholarly interest, is not as supportive of
behavior analysts who participate dominantly in practice. This idea that the ABAI ... Show more

The author, Thomas S Critchfield (2011) believes that scientists and practioners should be held
separate, however I believe that this will further damage our unity under the same field, Applied
Behavior Analysis. Critchfields basis for this is that both are both professions, but are different
professions, science and practice, with different concerns and therefore should be kept separate in
order for each to succeed in their own way. It is to my knowledge that both must coexist to better
understand the issues that ABS typically faces.
According to Bales (2012) Chritchfield s ideas deem to be a misguided idea. Bales stated that
while the two professions may be different it is important to remember that there are individuals
who engage in both science and practice. It is impossible to say that these two parts are so
separate from each other that they need to flourish in different environments. This could cause
translational research to become nonexistent and lead use back to simple basic research and
research that is for the sole purpose of helping the people with no care taken to flourish the field.
This would lead to a field that may make discoveries but that may not be able to translate those
ideas to benefit the lives of the people. If this deems to be the case, then why call our science
Applied at all?
Next, the licensure of ABS must be addressed. ABS is

Why Do Companies Use Tax Records
Records pertaining to employment, earnings, and taxes withheld can all be questioned by the
IRS and be audited if any red flags are raised. This shouldn t be a cause for concern if you keep
good records and can prove whatever information was claimed on the forms. The general rule is
to keep tax records for 3 years, but 5 is probably a safer number when it comes to individuals. Keep
in mind that other entities may require information from taxforms including, insurance companies
and credit lenders. Having the documents on hand is smarter and more convenient than hunting
down and/or requesting copies from the IRS sometime in the future. On the other hand, a company
should store tax records indefinitely. The digital age has made this task simpler and less space
consuming.
When and if the time comes to destroy old documents, be sure that the forms are shredded with a
crosscut shredder, or digital information is stored using software that is protected ... Show more

Companies and individuals with a business should store other important documents for the duration
of the existence. These documents can include, but a re not limited to permits, agreements,
contracts, lease and rental agreements, stock information, and mortgage documents, even if the
mortgage has been paid in full. Having these documents stored safely means you can retrieve any
pertinent information needed, provide proof with documentation if necessary, and have a complete
record of the history of the company.
Managing Data
There are many arguments for and against any type of medium that can be implemented to store
and manage data and records. Each medium has its positive characteristics and its drawbacks.
The best record keepers use more than one method to store data, mainly as a backup in case of a
catastrophe. This is where the old adage, it s better to be safe than sorry takes on a greater
significance.

many kids that possible have a great future ahead of them. Did you know most teens who are

the northeastern Siberia and northwestern Alaska were connected due to low sea level, Homo

With agriculture came domestication. Domestication is defined as humans changing the
environment and the ecosystems within the environment in order to make the Earth safer for
humans and to gain more beneficial and productive goods and services (Kareiva et al., 2007).
Domestication can be categorized to two big branches: domestication of plants and domestication
of animals. Humans facilitated domestication of plants through agricultural practices. Through
artificial selection, humans chose domesticate plants with traits that are most advantageous for
humans survival, usually those that yield the most food (Young, 2016). When these traits are
selected repeatedly, domesticated crops resulted in differing both physiologically and
morphologically from its ancestor species. Domestication suggests enlargement of plant structure.
Bigger plant structure prompts an increase in abundance and likelihood of herbivores that may
feed off of these domesticated crops. Increase in seed size also negatively correlates with toughness
of seed coat. This relationship indicates that more parasites are able to prey on these weak
domesticated crops (Chen, 2015). Shang et al. (2014) also establish a specific example and write
that humans have purposefully domesticated cucumbers without the bitter taste, which protected
the species from herbivores. Without the bitter taste, the cucumber species is now defenseless
against herbivores

pregnancy. As a helper, there would be many issues involved; in addition, there would be some
extremely sensitive material the worker would have to deal with. My main purpose would be to
guide them through the process. First of all. Jennifer has been diagnosed with a progressive
disorder of the on the central nervous system, which is linked to genetics. I would recommend they
ask the specialist how the pregnancy could affect Jennifer. Would the pregnancy be detrimental
to her health? I would suggest getting a second and a third opinion. Would the fetus survive if it
was afflicted with the disease? These are questions that only a specialist in neurology would be
able to answer. I would help them look for a specialist who is familiar with the disease;
consequently, it would be beneficial to find an expert who has dealt with it before. I would help
the couple research the disease, then they can take it from there. There are two routes for this
couple; therefore, they can select to have their child and try to minimize the risks. It was their
dream to have a child, and I can empathize due I love my children. If the specialist came to the

Switzerland and the Concept of Comparative Advantage
While most in today s hyper competitive global economy look towards countries including; China,
India, Taiwan, Vietnam, and others in search of lower production costs seeking the ever illusive
comparative advantage, others have different ideas. Switzerland, a tiny land locked nation in central
Europe surrounded by Alps with a relatively small population of 7,630,605 is one such country. It

As Switzerland is unable to compete globally in the area of inexpensive goods and services
including; toys, manufactured goods, and other products used in mass by today s consumer it is
advised that the nation continue to produce products it currently specializes in along with
expanding its current services to attract foreign investment into the Swiss economy.
Industries of Specialization and Opportunity
As most already know, the Swiss are renowned for their production of high quality chocolates
including those of the Toblerone and Lindt brands. Switzerland has a comparative advantage in
the production of chocolate. By spending one hour producing two pounds of chocolate, it gives
up producing one pound of cheese, whereas, if it spends that hour producing cheese, it gives up
two pounds of chocolate. Thus, the good in which comparative advantage is held is the good
that the country produces most efficiently (chocolate). Therefore, if given a choice between
producing two goods (or services), a country will make the most efficient use of its resources by
producing the good with the lowest opportunity cost, the good in which it holds the comparative
advantage, and by trading for the other good. (Globalization101.org, 2010) While chocolates are
one of this country s specialties it s not the only one. Other areas of specialty already realized and
being readily utilized by the Swiss are the

do not accept Medicaid because the bill is paid through the state and it takes the physicians a long

The outrageous cost of medical care in the United States is one of the greatest disadvantages of our
system. Costs are rising at a faster past than most other expenses. Managed care systems were
created to reduce costs, and this meant that physicians no longer are autonomous practitioners in
their own independent offices. Health maintenance organization (HMO) and preferred provider
organization (PPO) are the most common examples. In HMO subscriber pay a set fee to be a
patient in return for an agreement that the HMO will cover all the patient s medical care at no
additional cost. The HMO has an incentive to keep the patient as healthy as possible by
providing preventative health care because they make the most profit when patients are healthy.
As a result HMO s try to cover younger, healthy subscribers who are less likely to become sick.

The two Sandvik DX 700 surface drill rigs are being used around the two cavern shafts, where they

We have also ascertained that machine availability has been slightly over 96 percent per month.

Nuclear War Research Paper
Instate violence has decreased in recent decades when it comes to nuclear war, but small arms war
is still wide spread. More wars have had the use of guns than the use of nuclear weapons. More
people have been killed in wars because of guns than because of nuclear weapons. However, more
people can be killed in an instant by nuclear weapons whereas when you use a gun, more people
can be killed in a span of a few months. It is also easier and cheaper to get a gun than it is to make
and use a nuclear weapon. Terrorists are scary with a gun or a box cutter, but imagining ISIS or Al
Qaeda with a nuclear weapon would cause the utmost terror across America.
Liberalists and their conflicts are driven by issues like scarcity and survivability. An example

Smartphone Addiction
Is Smartphone Addiction Killing Today s Teens? The arrival of the smartphones had radically
changed every aspect of teenagers lives, from the nature of their social interactions to their
mental health (Twenge 60). Smartphones are easy to carry mobile devices that almost have the
functions of a computer like internet access, video games, social networks, and of course calls
and text messages. In 2014 in the USA almost 60% of the population owned a smartphone
(Cheever, et al. 291). The percentage of people that own a smartphone has been increasing fast
since then, especially in young people who overuse their mobile devices. Excessive use of
smartphones is associated with the addiction to these devices and other psychological imbalances
that can lead to death. Smartphone addiction is changing the behavior and attitudes of today s
teenagers which can lead to serious psychological issues. Excessive use of smartphones can lead
to addiction, which can cause radical behavioral changes, sleep deprivation and serious physical
and psychological problems over time. For people who use their smartphones more on a daily
basis, it becomes harder for them to live without these mobile devices (Cheever 290). Smartphone

Revlon V. Mcandrews And Forbes
Revlon v. McAndrews Forbes: Less than a year later, the Delaware Supreme Court circumscribed
directors freedom of action by holding in this case that, once a sale is in progress, the director s
duty switches from protection or maintenance of the corporate enterprise to obtaining the highest
price for the benefit of the shareholders. In other words, once directors understand that the takeover
will be successful, their duty is simply to obtain the best price for the shareholders.
The first precedents of the Delaware Supreme Court show that the standards were reluctant to the
permissiveness in adopting defensive measures. Rather, the courts preferred the passivity of the
board. However, 4 years later the standards changed when the Court relaxed the reins that had been
tightened in Unocal and Revlon.
Paramount Inc. v. Time Inc.: The court gave more leeway to directors in deciding on defensive
measures, even after it was inevitable that the target would be sold. The court held that directors of
target could consider factors other than money values of the offers, including the amount of
information available to shareholders, the conditions attached to the offers, and the timing. These
factors might justify defensive measures. These defenses were called just say no defenses . They
refer to the ability of directors to simply reject takeovers for the purpose of protecting the
constituencies of the company.

The Life Of Fredrick Douglass, An American Slave
Ironically inhumane. Maybe not ironic at all. Forced labor of humans being considered humane
almost seems impossible. Everyone is human, they feel pain, excitement, emotion, actually maybe
not emotion. Emotions are typically innate, sadness, happiness, but what about empathy? Slavery
brought extreme empathy to some, but showed the void of empathy in others. Those lacking
empathy can either be violent or depressed. They cannot feel for others, have no reason to try to
find a connection. One major question exists, is empathy a learned emotion? Throughout the
moving, enlightening, and harsh Fredrick Douglass autobiography, Narrative of the Life of
Fredrick Douglass, an American Slave, the former slave truly reflects on what the public is being
kept from hearing about: actual slave attitudes. Written in 1845, around the time the strongest
abolitionist movements were in the beginning stages, the recently freed slave provided a semi
live feed of what reality for the slave is truly like. With his stories of an abandoned childhood and
an under privileged education, Douglass provides the reader with the feelings, sights, and smells of
living in his shoes. Taking a retrospective view of the topic, one can jump to the conclusion of
slaverybeing an obvious example of inhumane labor, and one that needed to be dismantled
immediately. Looking at it from the point of view of an average individual living among others in
the recently formed United States republic, one may be able to

Workrate Definition
How do you define workrate?
The term workrate was introduced to me during the earlier stages of my wrestling fandom when
I stumbled upon online communities who would throw the word around quite readily. Even
with the term still in common usage, I have never seen it given a widely agreed upon and
concrete definition. In my view workrate is somewhat distinct from good work , and refers to
the athletic and mechanical aspects of a match, in addition to the fluidity of its execution,
bumping, and the like. It says very little for the emotional components of a match or wrestler, for
facials, and more complex elements of selling. Whilst this does mean that many, if not most good
workrate matches are well worked, and many high workrate wrestlers are great workers, the
contrapositive does not hold those who do not have the mechanical and athletic prowess of a high
workrate performer may very well be just as good as far as quality of match output is concerned.
Is workrate important to you?

At the time super athleticism and movez were a top priority in my evaluations, and were lumped

evolution of my outlook, and what is more, aided me, specifically in the case of 90s All Japan, in
recognising just why some of those matches were as great as they were for reasons beyond workrate

Essay on America’s Children Deserve Charter Schools
America s education is failing, and serious reform is needed. The topic of education has been in
the forefront over the last few decades. Many, including politicians have attempted to tackle what
seemed to be a hopeless situation. With all the corruption and bureaucracy within the system, it is
unlikely that this problem will be resolved anytime soon. However, there is hope amidst all this,
and that is charterschools. Charter schools impact educationby having passionate teachers who truly
care for their students well being, use up to date schoolmethodology, are able to function with less
bureaucracy, and have accountability that results in less corruption, and increased cost efficiency.

According to the documentary, a bad teacher covers only fifty percent of the assigned curriculum,
compared to effective teachers who can teach up to one hundred and fifty percent of the assigned
curriculum (Guggenheim Chilcott, 2010). Sadly, more and more teachers have lost the passion to
teach. Some of them may even be in the profession simply because it pays. Well, charter schools
employ many passionate teachers who truly care for the students well being. These teachers are
equipped and trained to give the students their all, providing one on one mentoring to students that
are falling behind, making sure that students get caught up with the curriculum, giving them hope
and a promising future. Since children attending school spend most of their time inside a classroom,
teachers in charter schools take advantage of this opportunity and utilize as much time afforded to
them to instill positive values, goals, and dreams that students can aspire to. This is not to say that
there are no passionate teachers in the public sector, this is simply highlighting what charter schools
have to offer.
The antiquated educational model our schools stubbornly cling to was designed well over a century
ago to meet the demands of an emerging industrial economy (Mercogliano, 2005, p.2). In his article,

The Effect of the Stroop Effect on Accuracy, Time and Self Confidence Levels
Stroop s 1935 study was the first experiment to test the Stroop effect as we know it now. The
Stroop task measures the participants ability to ignore some parts of the stimuli, either the color of
the word or what the word actually reads and pay attention to others. This is especially the case
when the stimuli is incongruent, or when color written does not match the color of the font it is
written in. The research question that this study seeks to answer is what effect if any does the
Stroop Effect have on accuracy, time and confidence levels of participants.
In their 2012 study, Khanna and Gupta asked how lunch and sociability affected Stroop test scores.

Sheehan, Donovan and MacLeod (1988) sought to find out if hypnosis affected Stroop test
performance. Participants were sorted into two groups, those highly susceptible to hypnosis, and
those not really susceptible to hypnosis. The subjects were tested three times, waking, under
hypnosis with no strategy manipulation and hypnosis with strategy manipulation. This study found
that reaction times and accuracy were not significantly different between those highly susceptible
to hypnosis and those not susceptible, however, both groups of participants had significantly
slower reaction times when hypnotized. This study shows that hypnosis slows down reaction
time, and does not increase accuracy. The gap in research that this study is aiming to fill is the
relationship between the stroop effect and time, accuracy, and confidence self ratings. This study
will have participants read both a congruent and incongruent Stroop task for both time and
accuracy. After they are finished they will self rate their confidence levels. Based on previous
studies, I predict that there will be a main effect of list type, I think that the congruent list will be
read faster, with better accuracy and a higher confidence level. I also predict that there will be a
main effect of task type. I think that the word naming task will be read faster, with better accuracy,
and a higher confidence level. I also predict that there will be an interaction effect. The

Analysis Of The Air Commerce Act Of 1926 (ACA)
From the first powered flight at Kitty Hawk, safety was one of the primary concerns of the
public. Within 11 years, aircraft as a form passenger travel was expanding rapidly. As a result,
the skies quickly became crowded and accidents were occurring both in the air and on the
ground. Fearing that air transit would not reach its full economic potential, the Air Commerce
Act of 1926 (ACA) was enacted (Dilger, 2003). The ACA established uniform safety rules for
carriers, required pilot licensing, and standardized routes. As a result, deaths from aircraft
accidents reduced from one in every 1.4 million miles flown in 1927 to every 13 million miles
(Dilger, 2003). The ACA paved the way for the Federal Aviation Administration
in 1956.

Main Features Of Romanticism In Literature
Romanticism is a very philosophical and artistic topic in English, it was mainly created during
the 18th century and was influenced by neoclassicism which is the meaning of western visual
arts, music, literature and more. It is the unique style of art, literature and music that shows the
classical side of everything. Neoclassicism was originated in Rome around the middle of the
18th century. Neoclassicism is more based of the ability than the emotion, because the topic is
filled with imaginative thoughts. In all of poetry, there was one very famous verse style that was
used a lot and that was the heroic couplet verse, this style is commonly used in narrative and epic
styles of poetry and keeping the lines rhymed. Friedrich Schlegel was a well known German poet
writer, he was a German man who wrote poets who was born on March 10th, 1772 in Hanover,
Germany. He became famous by being the first person to use the term romantic to define literature.
A big part of romanticismis the famous quotes that inspire the people, one great quote by Friedrich
Schlegel said: literature depicting emotional matter in an imaginative form. Another famous quote
that is similar and is admired by people around the world is one by Victor Hugo, who was a French
poet, the quote said: liberalism in literature . Emotion, freedom, and imagination are probably the
main focus points of romanticism.

Underage Immigration Issues
In the United States of America, there are many issues surrounding immigration that require
immediate action from the President and Congress. From whether to construct a massive wall to
establishing legal pathways to citizenship, the President and Congress are divided on these two
issues. In the meantime, the number of underage immigrants flowing into the United States
continues to increase at a rapid pace, overwhelming the judicial system (Ramage 473 474).
The Los Angeles Times Editorial Board, Young, Alone and in Court , the Editorial Board addressed
two main points, the primary reasons surrounding the rapid increase of underage immigrants
crossing the border and the United States failure to effectively address the immigration issues

Compare And Contrast Manchuria And Russia
1904 was when the Russo Japanese War started and it ended in 1905. Japan ended up on top and
this forced Russia to stop its expansion in the far east. The war started out as a fight between
Russia and Japan over Korea and Manchuria. Russia had forced China into giving them land at the
tip of the Liaotung Peninsula, in Manchuria. Russia had also made an alliance with China against
Japan. However Japan had started expanding its army after their war with China. Now Japan had
more ground troops than Russia. Russia had agreed to withdraw its troops from Manchuria. This
was when Japan took its chance and attacked. The last naval battle had given the Japanese the
upper hand and given them full command of the sea. In the end both financially and politically
exhausted countries came together to make peace. President Theodore Roosevelt was the mediator
and Russia had to give up its place in the Manchuria Peninsula and it was restored to China; Japan
had won Korea.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is because most Russians lived on the western side of Russia. The Russians farther away
also felt separated from the battle, they received new slowly about it and did show much
patriotic enthusiasm about it when it did arrive. During this time there were also bad harvests
and food was priced very high, meaning starvation for the lower class. There economy drop also
lead to high unemployment rates, especially for industrial workers. This lead to many riots and
strikes throughout Russia. Minister of the Interior Phleve thought that the solution for this is
small victorious war against Japan (History). It was used as an attempt to distract the public from
their problems. The result of the war was even worse that Russians had expected. Food and fuel
shortages increased, prices raised and so did unemployment. The war did not have a good impact
on Russia s economy in fact it just made it

Many people believe that code switching is helping students with their writing and they also think that when you abbreviate for a word you learn how it is spelled. Other theories suggest that text talk seeps into your writingand influences you to use improper grammar. Code switching is when you distinguish between the informal and formal languageand use it to talk in different environments. Studies show that students are easily able to code switch depending on the audience and content. Many people believe that if teachers teach students how to code switch and why it is important, that it could make teenagers writing more sophisticated. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Summary Of The Book A Clockwork Orange, Burgess By... In the fiction world, writers have an idea of creating society with perfect human morals but establishing those ideas to real life people can see that there is no such thing as perfect. Anthony Burgess incorporates this idea into many of his works which accentuate many dark points in his life; he lost both, his mother and sister at a young age, and his first sexual experience was when he was seduced by an older woman (41 Facts on Anthony Burgess). The fact the Anthony had many occupations such like a linguist, critic, poetic, etc. show the vast amount of knowledge and views he has on the world. He also loved to mix in human nature with religion, trying to help express the nature of both and the good and evil each represent. Anthony Burgess... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This is Alex s character which amplifies his actions and the situations he encounters, the audience show more positive feeling rather than negative because of the way the story is being told, Alex is our humble narrator. It is not naturally glorified that violence is a pleasant thing but the he audience laughs at Alex s actions, which suggest that comedy reveals the basic contradictions of human nature and of social relations (Bloom). In one of the his poems in Inside of Mr. Enderby, a young man becomes irritated due to the fact that he is surrounded by joyful activities, Sick of the sycophantic singing, sick of every afternoon s compulsory games, sick of the little cliques of county names, he let the inner time bomb start to tick (FIVE REVOLUTIONARY SONNETS), in a sense Burgess is trying to tell his audience that violence is essential for human nature. This poem helps highlight the fact that not everyone feels the same about different things, because the boy is not content even though everyone else is. The sonnet Eden shows a young boy trying to clean himself of blood in a lake in this case the blood represent sin. The setting in this work is in the biblical reference to the Garden of Eve, the boy knowing that having blood (sin) on his hand act on his own to cleanse himself. There is no minimum age to become an athletic trainer most start at early 20s and retire around late 50s. There are mainly more physical demands than health. An athletic trainer needs to be able to carry injured athletes, 10 gallon water containers, and medical kits. Completing physical testing procedures of muscles and ligaments to all body joints, and taping procedures in a good amount of time. Running across uneven field surfaces to care for emergency situations and being able to perform CPR and First Aid procedures to an athlete that is injured. Athletic trainers personalities should be decisive, confident, be able to listen and lead, observant, and be able to remain calm in midst of a crisis. The more experience you have in these types of professions is the better, because many employers will consider new graduates with no experience. They say it is advised to gain experience during school, by having this experience it makes them competitive candidates on the job market. A bachelor s degree is standard, and a master s degree is common. You must have at least a bachelor s degree to become a athletic trainer. The Lord of The Flies, written by William Golding, is a novel based off of World War II. The british school boys in Lord of the Flies, express the extreme trauma and conditions people faced during the war era. Golding uses changes in the school boys mentalities and actions through their use of fire to show that severe conditions can bring out the worst in people. When the boys first arrive on the desolate island they begin to use the fire as a reminder of home and warmth. The first time the boys manage to safely alight (97) the fire they made it for the thought of warmth and the starting need to be rescued. Later on after getting their bearings on the remote island, the boys begin to create order and law in the tribe. One of the laws is that someone has to watch the signal fire on top of the mountain at every time. Eric and Sam were lighting the fire which caused warmth to [radiate] and beat pleasantly on them (97) showing that the fire was used for comfort and no rescue. Also the boys, specifically Ralph and Piggy, thought that there was something good about the fire (find) besides rescue. Both boy considered the fire as a good thing they could use with control. Quickly the fire changes into something else. The schoolboys trapped on the nameless island quickly come to realize they can use the fire to their advantage. They could use it for rescue. With all the evidence, it is almost as if Shakespeare was hinting at Hamlet s oedipal maternal desires. His attitude and state of mind throughout the story can be attributed to how he feels about his mother remarrying. For example, Hamlet is sulking around in a black cloak as he questions why ``[Gertrude] would hang on [Claudius]/ As if increase of appetite had grown/ By what it fed on (I.ii.347 348). He is very clearly expressing verbally how upset he is when pondering his mother and her new lover, but he is also expressing it physically by wearing black even though his father is But two months dead (I.ii.342). Hamlet s grieving period is over and therefore has no need to wear black anymore. He is wearing black and sulking now because he is grieving his mother s love. For she has moved on and found a new man to bed, thus jealousy ensues. This is something that happens frequently when a new alpha male enters a relationship dynamic, parental or sexual. More evidence of his inappropriate maternal love is shown by the way he treats Ophelia. It is said by Freud and other psychologists that the relationship you have with your lover mirrors the relationship you have with your parental figures. It is no coincidence that the way he batters her with his word and destroys her conscious relates more to the relationship with his mother than that with Ophelia. The power of beauty will ... These reliefs are similar to other Assyrian reliefs in terms of their purpose; however, there is a contrast in the methods used to glorify the king. By examining such factors as style, iconography and historical significance, we find many similarities and differences between the ceremonial reliefs and the more common reliefs depicting war and hunting. The reliefs belonging to the sacred or ceremonial category consist of panels depicting a sacred tree, a human headed genius fertilizing a sacred tree, a griffin fertilizing a sacred tree, and a scene of King Assurnasirpal (whose ... In term of stylization, both the human headed deities and Assurnasirpal have very stylized hair falling in straight locks to the back of their necks; furthermore, they possess highly stylized beards of intricate waves and ringlets which end evenly at the bottom. Because these features are similar to that of Assurbanipal and the mythological bullmen at the palace at Khorsabad, it can be construed that it is a coiffure characteristic of royalty and divinity alike (Art History Anthology 28). Moving on to the facial expression, we find that all the human headed figures contain large eyebrows, large eyes that are deeply undercut, an elongated nose, conventionalized ears, and highly conventionalized lips which appear as a simple slit. On the other hand, the beardless griffin has an eagle s head adorned with a feather headdress and a curved beak with a long tongue. To show the strength of the deities and Assurnasirpal, the artist depicts muscles within the arms and legs through simple lines and curves. This style of depicting the facial and body features is common in other Assyrian reliefs including the hunting scenes of Assurbanipal. He uses elements such as symbolism, figurative language, metaphor, irony and etc. to make his work prominent. In the works by Nathaniel Hawthorne, he uses symbols for secret sin in The Scarlet Letter, The Minister s Black Veil, and Dr. Heidegger s Experiment. As seen in The Scarlet letter, the symbol for secret sin is the Scarlet letter A. The A represents the sin in which Hester commits adultery with the town s minister, Dimmesdale. One example of secret sin is when Hester first walks out of prison; for the first time she wore the letter A on her breast to show her crime. The A very well represents her secret sin. Moreover, the symbol of secret sin also appears in The Minister s Black Veil. When the people of the town first saw Mr. Hooper wearing the black veil, they were all wondering why he would wear such thing. To Mr. Hooper, the black veil means deceit and sins to those who can not separate themselves from their sins. One example is when he is wearing the black veil to the wedding, and everyone is kind of skeptic about why he is wearing it but in reality, he wore it to remind everyone of their sins. Because of this, people call him evil, and he soon became an outcast. The black veil can also represent his own sin that he committed in the past in which he can never forgive himself. Symbols for secret sin are once again used in Nathanial Hawthorne s works. Additionally, symbols for serest sin are also use in Dr. Heidegger s Experiment. In this story, Dr. Heidegger s sin is playing with God because he basically made up a story about the whole Fountain of Youth to his friends. But for him, this is all an experiment because he wants to see how his friends will react to their pretend younger selves, and if they have changed their personality. • 12. Symbolism In Lot Of The Lottery By Shirley Jackson Lot of the Lottery Brittney Hale ENGL 1302 Ms. Mary Elle Young 10 03 17 Shirley Jackson s The Lottery , is a story that is filled with symbolism. The author uses symbolism to help her represent the human race as cruel no matter how righteous he or she may see themselves, or how perfect their way of life may seem to be. The story is very effective in making the reader question the unnecessary nature humans express, especially when it comes to tradition or violent behavior. Jackson effectively expresses her beliefs concerning mankind s true nature that is commonly masked behind tradition. The author portrays how inhumane and cruel people can be when it comes to their values and everyday life. Jackson presents the theme of this short story with a major use of symbolism. Symbolism is shown throughout the setting of The Lottery, objects, contestant s names and numbers. The author makes it well known to the reader that the black box is the central theme of the passage. The box symbolizes, at first, that something more ominous is to come. Jackson s choice of the color black is a perfect example for the story, it symbolizes death and complete darkness. A town person s fate lies in the hands of this inanimate object. The black box is an excellent representation of the sacrifice the citizens are willing to give to keep up with traditions. The author not only used the color of the box to symbolize what was happening in the town, but also the condition of the box. The no longer completely black but splintered box portrays the decaying of the original religious ideals the lottery (Jackson 230) was founded upon. Even though the citizens felt uneasy about the box, and would even keep their distance from the stool with the black box on it (thoughtco). They do not question the origin of the black box, but they accept it as a way of life. The names of the character play a significant role in developing the story. Quite a few of the names are more obvious than others, such as Delacroix, which translates as of the cross . Others, such as Adams, make the reader think more in depth about them. One of the main characters, Mrs. Delacroix, appears often in the story. She is a companion of Tessie, the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Women had restriction, such as: what subjects they should study, they were not allowed to vote, they were not grand their fortune after marriage, she should not leave the domestic sphere, and who should be submissive. The role model for this concept was Queen Victoria herself, who, together with her husband, Albert, had nine children and embodied the perfect family. She was even described as the mother of the nation (BBC, Web). As I strongly disagree with the women s treatment back then, I want to celebrate in this essay woman who, even a little bit broke the constraints and enjoyed their lives in a period of oppressions. The beginning of this new women era, in which women asked to be heard, started with Sunday Schools, in which the majority of volunteers were women, so they begin to go out and interact with other people. The Two Face is a character that expresses two different sides to their personality one that they keep hidden and the one that they show to others. Dorian s Two Face personality is the split of his physical body, which does not age and allows Dorian to do what he wants in his society, and his painting, which changes form to reflect Dorian s sinful acts; meanwhile the Player s Two Face personality share the same body, that of the characterwho is written to forget the strange or unnerving events that happens within the game, and the person playing the game, who will most likely remember the events for a long time. Both Dorian and the player get what they want without much refusal from the other character. For instance, in The Picture of Dorian Gray, Basil, when wanting to paint Dorian s picture without Lord Henry staying in the room, Dorian begs Basil to let Lord Henry stay, to which Basil agrees, adding Dorian s whims are laws to everybody, except himself (Wilde, 19). This hints at the early whims of Basil giving in to and seeing the good side of Dorian, but it is more of Dorian wanting Lord Henry to stay with him to influence him of his ideology of only liking things for the beauty, not the substance, since Lord Henry gave him a bit of advice earlier in the confrontation of the three men; ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... With agriculture came domestication. Domestication is defined as humans changing the environment and the ecosystems within the environment in order to make the Earth safer for humans and to gain more beneficial and productive goods and services (Kareiva et al., 2007). Domestication can be categorized to two big branches: domestication of plants and domestication of animals. Humans facilitated domestication of plants through agricultural practices. Through artificial selection, humans chose domesticate plants with traits that are most advantageous for humans survival, usually those that yield the most food (Young, 2016). When these traits are selected repeatedly, domesticated crops resulted in differing both physiologically and morphologically from its ancestor species. Domestication suggests enlargement of plant structure. Bigger plant structure prompts an increase in abundance and likelihood of herbivores that may feed off of these domesticated crops. Increase in seed size also negatively correlates with toughness of seed coat. This relationship indicates that more parasites are able to prey on these weak domesticated crops (Chen, 2015). Shang et al. (2014) also establish a specific example and write that humans have purposefully domesticated cucumbers without the bitter taste, which protected the species from herbivores. By spending one hour producing two pounds of chocolate, it gives up producing one pound of cheese, whereas, if it spends that hour producing cheese, it gives up two pounds of chocolate. Thus, the good in which comparative advantage is held is the good that the country produces most efficiently (chocolate). Therefore, if given a choice between producing two goods (or services), a country will make the most efficient use of its resources by producing the good with the lowest opportunity cost, the good in which it holds the comparative advantage, and by trading for the other good. Slavery brought extreme empathy to some, but showed the void of empathy in others. Those lacking empathy can either be violent or depressed. Written in 1845, around the time the strongest abolitionist movements were in the beginning stages, the recently freed slave provided a semi live feed of what reality for the slave is truly like.
