The Kellogg s Factory Makes Pop Tarts
BEEP BEEP BEEP! My alarm sounds. I jolt a little, but I shut it off and shift out of bed. The clock
glares 6:15 a.m. It was just another weekday: get up early, go to work, come home, sleep. Or so I
thought. I ate breakfast, got dressed, and set on my bike to work.
Every day I worked at the Kellogg s factory. The Kellogg s factory makes Pop Tarts. My job is to
take the individually wrapped Pop Tarts and put them in a sealed box. Every day I worked as hard
as I could. Our biggest competition was the Kroger Brand Pop Tart, Iced Toaster Treats. Anyways, I
worked long and hard. My wrists even started to hurt from all that intense packaging.
Meanwhile, a worker from Iced Toaster Treats sneaks in unknowingly into our Control Department.

I walk into a vast, dark corridor with nothing but my flashlight to provide me vision for my path.
The hallway was very long with nothing along it but unlabeled doors. A bright red line caught
my eye. I turned and saw what I thought were lasers. As my flashlight glided along them, I saw
the rows and rows of lasers, guarding a large shiny safe, but I didn t come there for there money,
so I kept walking. Finally, I came to what seemed to be the only labeled door, the Control
Department. I busted in with my crowbar and shined my flashlight inside.
After inspecting a while, I came across a little red box marked sabotage . Inside the box were a
couple of silver packets and a couple of blue packets. The blue packets were what I assumed was
the antidote. I didn t really have time to check because workers would start to come in in about 15
minutes. I grabbed the blue packet and paced quickly out the door. Apparently I wasn t very
cautious because I tripped on a wire and face planted, and the little blue packet flew out of my
reach. The wire went around an antenna pole that fell when I tripped. The antenna pole hit a box
of metal washers off a shelf. I shielded myself on the ground with my arms and closed my eyes. The
washers went everywhere. One rolled out the door. Lying close to the door, I watched the washer
roll towards the red light of the lasers. I dreaded as it rolled closer and closer to the rows of lasers.
Sure enough, it rolled through one laser and fell on its

Analysis Of Judith Wright s Asiatic Drinker ,...
Australian Poet Judith Wright exploits her concerns for the environment and human rights within
society; these themes are present in Metho Drinker , Remittance Man and Sanctuary . The idea of
human nature is exposed through an archetype of addiction, where lack of empathy and
compassion is expressed through the microcosm of society. Metho Drinker , being an existential
work, depicts Wrights concerns of modern progress and exclusion. Wright exposes the entrapment
of both figures with themes of conformity verses individualism, the inevitability of death and man s
relationship with nature. Poetic techniques such as omniscient narrative and third person are used
to heighten tension between reality and us as the responder. As an audience Remittance Man
compels us to reflect upon the English class system of the 1900 s and the lack of human
compassion towards migrants and lower classes. This contradicts Sanctuary , which foreshadows
the eventual destruction of nature through the progression of society s modern world. Personally I
was impressed by Wright s position as an advocate for those without a voice, be it individuals or
those of the natural world.
Wright as a social activist, reveals society s denial of individuals who do not conform, casting them
into a state of oblivion:
... nowhere, suited his book, the freak who could never settle .
This metaphor in Remittance Man depicts his exclusion from society, due to his inability to
conform to the moral code of the

Cultural Differences Between Modern Day North And South
Toronto to Texas the Journey
Changes occur in every region of the world; every minute, every second. Most people generally
do not approve of changes. It causes fear, mistrust, isolation, and even pain. In my youth, I liked
changes. Changes were something to look forward to, it s fun to meet new people and an
enjoyable way to see new places. It was useful to learn new skills and live experiences. So at the
age of fifteen, my mother told me we were headed for America. No attention was given to these
words, because I was a teenager who thought that the state of Texas would be quite similar to
Toronto, but never did I imagine that this will completely change my perception of change. These
changes have led me to understand the different culture between the north and south, not to believe
in stereotypes, and made me adaptable.
I can t even begin to explain the massive cultural differences between modern day North and
South. Most people assume only climate and slang are the major difference in the two, however
they could not be more wrong. Especially between Toronto and Wichita Falls, Texas. It may
sound obvious but there is geographical difference. For one in the North we have more clear and
fast rivers, and we almost always have a bay. While in the south, the soil is agriculturally more
fertile, so in essence we see more farms and large areas of land. Also there is a huge population
difference between Wichita Falls and Toronto, which is easily amongst the biggest and most

Literary Analysis Of The Cask Of Amontillado
The story, The Cask of Amontillado by Edgar Allen Poe, is a narration of revenge and murder
crafted and committed in the most of secretive ways, that the victim, Fortunato, did not recognize
the murder plan until at the very last point of last breath. The story, narrated by Montresor, gives an
account of an oppressed individual, who had patiently and submissively subjected to oppression,
until insults began, and he could no longer take any more. The narrator had been oppressed many
times by the victim against whom he seeks revenge. In the very opening of the narration, the
narrator claims to have been hurt by the victim numerous times when stating THE thousand injuries
of Fortunato I had borne as I best could (Poe, n.p.). However, while suffering quietly from all the
injuries he had received from Fortunato, Montresor had crafted a plan for revenge, which he
ensured the target victim would not detect. Indeed, Montresor continued to mask his evil plans
against the victim through acting nicely towards him and also maintaining a smile that only him
knew was informed by the thought of revenge (Poe, n.p.). Indeed, Montresor no doubt comes out as
very crafty, and the secretively crafted plan of revenge against Fortunato he made can be lauded as
being genius. Nevertheless, this discussion holds the argument that it is Fortunato s skepticism, as
opposed to Montresor s definitive and genius plan, that materializes the revenge.
The story, The Cask of Amontillado, is a

30 Cal Brake Research Paper
No doubt, the main purpose of a .30 cal muzzle brake is to reduce the felt recoil of a gun. Just how
that is accomplished is as simple as it is amazing. In a nutshell, a 7.62 muzzle brake is designed to
divert the gasses following behind a fired bullet in order to counter recoil. The .30 caliber muzzle
brakeis overbored enough to allow the round to pass through unimpeded. As the bullet enters the
muzzle brake there is just enough room for the gasses to begin to get around its sides.
It s at this point that a standard threaded 5/8x24 muzzle break goes to work. The gas first
encounters baffles that have been machined into the interior surface of the muzzle break. Within a
mili second, that .300 blackout muzzle brake diverts the gasses horizontally.

The Master-Slave Ideology
When it comes to the notion of our importance as a people during the slave era, would it be a fact
or opinion that we head a higher significance. The master slave ideology takes many shapes. But
in the essay I will start at the auction block. At the auction block is we re conniving masters first
meet the slave. Although some slaves were sold against their own will, many of them had a
choice of the master. Slave owners would attend auctions and persuade slaves to become theirs by
filling their heads with promises of a good plantation life. This is the first of bonds formed between
the master and slave on the foundation of lies. Although we can conclude that these promises weren
t kept, we have to admit that the slave owner was quite smart... Show more content on

But because he felt a sense of loyalty to his master, he ignores the advice of the freed blacks and
continued down the river until he reached his master s brother. A slave had no rights of his own.
He was the absolute possession of his master. And he was obligated to give his master
unquestioning obedience. It was a humble position that demanded a man to think of his duties and
obligations rather than his privileges. And it demanded the slaves loyalty to his master. The slave
had no interests of his own, all he did was for His Master. (Marji Mike Kruger). On December 18th,
1865, President Abraham Lincoln declared slavery to be illegal and he made slave owners set them
free. Although this law was written down, it didn t mean that the idea and ideology of slave
master relationship vanished completely. As history progressed onward, the term slave was
replaced with a more demeaning term, nigger. During this age, the definition of a slave was a
person oppressed to a degree which a person s will can t be done. Niggers [Negroes] were
considered the second, inferior race. We finally were considered to be human beings. Although
we were so called free, we were still forced to live under limited conditions. Yes, the physical chains,

Financing company operations REVIEW QUESTIONS 1. Explain the nature of a share.
Distinguish between an ordinary share and a preference share. Basically, a share represents
ownership of a portion of the share capital of a company. Also note the discussion in Chapter 1 of
the text concerning the relationship between limited liability and the amount paid up on a share.
The differences between ordinary and preference shares are determined by the terms of issue. A

If the share issue is fully subscribed, the underwriter will collect the commission and not have to
do anything. 4.If a share issue is oversubscribed, what action can be taken in relation to excess
money received on application? Excess monies received on application for shares will be
refunded to the applicant. However where shares are issued on a partly paid basis, the excess
can be used as an offset in reducing allotment money due and in payment of any future calls,
provided the company s constitution and the terms of the prospectus allow for this treatment.
5.When can a company forfeit its shares? What happens to money already paid by the holder of
those shares? A company can forfeit its shares provided the rules for forfeiture are in the company
s constitution. The rules usually specify that shares would be forfeited for non payment of calls.
Where shares are forfeited, the company can, depending on the constitution, retain the funds
already paid on the forfeited shares in which case the Forfeited Shares account will be considered
a reserve and part of equity. Alternatively, the forfeited shares can be reissued and the amount
received, less the costs of forfeiture and reissue of shares, may then be refunded to the former
shareholders. In this case, the Forfeited Shares account is a liability. 6.How should a company
account for the legal costs of formation? Should the accounting treatment be the same as that for
underwriting and other share issue

Centralia No. 5 Mine Explosion Centralia No. 5 Mine Explosion On March 25, 1947, a blast in
Centralia Coal Mine killed 111 workers. Centralia Coal Mine No. 5 had been operational since
1907 and had never suffered a major disaster. Prior to this event only four shotfirers were killed
in 1921 (Fleege). Because of the safety record of the mine, it was considered relatively safe and
a disaster seemed remote. The United States had just ended a war and the economy was picking
up and production needs were relatively high. Mine operators were being pushed by the federal
government to produce as much coal as possible to meet the demands of the robust economy.

Mine No. 5 for two years and sustainable improvements were not made. Other logistical
alternatives he could have used are as follows: 1. Take advantage of positive relationship with
miners and educate them on steps they could take through union activities. Even though Local 52
felt a wildcat strike (Martin) would bring the federal government down on their heads, it would
have also brought attention from the right sources to the deplorable conditions at the mine. 2.
Scanlan could have closed mine due to imminent danger of an explosion. He could have required
repairs and cleanup be done to avoid a disaster. Even though he feared for his job and reputation,
his actions could have shown the mine operators the government was firm about correcting unsafe
conditions in the mines. 3. Scanlan could have been more persistent in getting his reports of
imminent danger through the bureaucratic process. He could have had more direct contact with
Medill and Weir in seeing that the mine operators were taking his reports seriously. He could have
demanded action from his superiors. 4. Scanlan could have gone directly to a sympathetic
newspaper to report these conditions and lack of action by operators and the government. This

Psychopathy And The Physiological Etiology Of Psychopathy
Psychopathy is a topic that receives more than its fair share of attention in the media. The very
concept of psychopathy simultaneously fascinates and terrifies people as they attempt to
understand the motivation of people who they deem to be very different than themselves. However,
people rarely stop to consider the physiological differences in individuals with psychopathy,
focusing instead on outward displays of sensational aggression. In order to assess the physiological
components of psychopathy, it is necessary to consider theories on the physiological etiology of
psychopathy, the ways in which the prefrontal cortexand amygdala work together to enhance
psychopathic symptomology, and the ways in which lesions on the prefrontal cortex... Show more

Much like the University of Pennsylvania study, results indicated that reduced functioning in parts
of the brain involved in moral decision making and the expression of emotion may help to explain
psychopathy (Glenn et al, 2009; Marsh et al., 2011). Another theory of the physiological etiology of
psychopathy focuses on the role of serotonergic functionality. As serotonin functions to maintain
mood balance, deficits in the functionality of serotonin have the potential to be hugely detrimental.
A study published in Motivation and Emotion analyzed the role of serotonin in high levels of
aggression, a key component of the expression of psychopathy. Researchers also proposed a
connection between high levels of testosterone and low levels serotonin working together to
increase both aggression and impulsivity (Montoya et al., 2012). These findings complement those
in a study conducted by researchers at Radboud University, which consisted of a between groups
comparison between psychopathy and sociopathy in terms of dysfunction in emotional processing,
HPA axis functioning, and serotonergic profiles, as well as polymorphisms in serotonergic genes
and behavioral endophenotypes (Yildirim Derksen, 2013). Yildirim and Derksen found that issues

In the summer time of 2015, it was shown in a CNN article that two thirds of Americans were in
favor in gay marriage soon to become a law change in most states to make it acceptable for
people of the same sex to live together as partners and live the life they wish to as a married

prior to the summer of 2015 an issue that our country faced was the issue of acceptance of others
that would classify themselves as a member of the LGBTQ community. As the campus of Southeast
Missouri State University constantly breaks new records of enrollment and students choosing to

Soviet Forces During The Soviet War
In February 1986, Secretary Mikhail Gorbachev announced that Soviet Forces would conduct a
phased withdrawal from Afghanistan. The fallout of this order would precipitate down to lower
echelons of Soviet armed forces in the form of Democratic Republic of Afghanistan (DRA) forces
taking the leading in combat operations against the Mujahideen (Grau p.110, 1998). With this in
mind, the Soviets pushed the Democratic Republic of Afghanistan Command to relieve the siege
of Khost by again attacking the Mujahideen strong point at Zhawar (Jalali Grau p.97, 2000). The
Soviet approved plan called for 5 under strength DRA maneuver brigades and one DRA artillery

The 38th Commando group had little experience in air assault missions, no collective combat
experience prior to this operation, and had not conducted an air assault to date (Grau p.87,

April. Of all the concerns listed, the latter would turn out to be the greatest risk to the operation.
Around midnight on the 2nd of April, the DRA began artillery and aviation bombardment of the
target area. This was followed by the initial commando group s insertion. The commandos
landed without opposition, however they missed their landing zone by 15 kilometers and ended
up in Pakistan rather than on top of Dawri Gar. The missed insertion led to the ground assault
force meeting heavy resistance from Mujahideen defending Dawri Gar Mountain. As a result, the
ground advance was fixed in place. Had LTG Azimi followed the SOF Truth of Quality is Better

mathematics. Many people would not consider a number to be the center of their actions or daily

examples of addressing the importance of the number four can be seen in the sacred Popol Vuh

The Pros And Cons Of Military Service
Although many people are aware of the heroic conscientious objector, World War II American
Army Medic Desmond T. Doss, very few people are familiar with the names of recent
conscientious objectors. In fact, in an all volunteer force that exists in the United States military
today, it is shocking to learn that about 100 members of the military still apply to be a
conscientious objectoreach year. While numerous military members and United States civilians
agree that it is outrageous for a volunteer in the military to decide they cannot fight in a war they
enlisted to participate in, this does not fully encapsulate the issue at hand. The military service
offers incentives such as careers, education, and life long benefits; thus, some will volunteer for
military service without deeply considering the ethics of service and their personal convictions;
moreover, the nature of war causes man to struggle with the morality after deployment, resulting in
a conviction arriving late into one s career. Therefore, when one faces an unresolved conflict of
conscience, it is necessary for a military member to examine their moral beliefs in order to make an
ethical decision regarding whether to continue military participation.
When enlisting into any branch of the United States Armed Forces, there is plenty of
documentation to accompany it. In addition to the personal history, medical investigations, and
physical readiness testing, there are specific questions to ensure each recruit is the right person for
the job. In section 25 of DD form 1966, there are three significant questions specifically asking
about limitations relating to a history of conscientious objection or current objections. These
questions provide ample opportunity to examine one s beliefs.
However, the fact remains that circumstances and experiences can change even the deep rooted,
core beliefs of a person. The reality of service, especially in violent confrontations, is enough to
make anyone think twice about the morality of war and violence. When personal beliefs begin to
conflict with the Oath and the obligation of a service member, it is necessary for them to apply the
Constitutional Paradigm.
The first principle of the Constitutional Paradigm is the

Edgar Allan Poe Writing Style
Edgar Allan Poe s life was filled with tragedy, everybody he really loved died of tuberculosis or
left him. He constantly was rejected in his life and really never found someone who truly
understood him. Poe s mother died when he was three and his father left him, So Poe had some
traumatic experiences at a young age. Poe and his sister were later adopted by the Allen family
and moved to England. Poe later joined the military and started to write. Later he married his
thirteen year old cousin who died of tuberculosis. He then went on to marry two more women, but
one left him and he died on his last wife. Poe s life was constantly filled with death and
disappointment which explains his vivid styleof writing. His traumatic life is explained through his
dark writing, and the way he explains the story. Poe s vivid writing style is constantly shown
through his unique literary techniques.
One literary device Poe uses to show his vivid style is imagery. In Poe s short story The Cask of
Amontillado , he describes the antagonist (Fortunato) as he greets him, He accosted me with
excessive warmth, for he had been drinking too much. (234) Since Poe s writing is so vivid in
the detail, the imagery in this quote can almost make the reader feel how Fortunato is greeting
him. The reader can almost feel Fortunato s warmth and smell the alcohol. Poe also uses his
imagery to make the reader imagine the area he is in. In the same short story Poe describes the
catacomb that he is in as,

The Classic Treatise Evolution By Jay Gould
The late Stephen Jay Gould, a noted paleontologist who once described himself as an agnostic
leaning towards atheism, wrote the classic treatise Evolution as Fact and Theory for Discover
magazine back in 1981. His distinguished career and scientific achievements did earn him respect
amongst his peers, but to the general public he is best known for his popular sciencewritings and, to
smaller circles, as a champion of evolution. As his treatise was written for a non academic, science
themed magazine, a basic understanding of science, and specifically evolutionary mechanics, was
assumed of his audience. The treatise itself is on the often overlapping distinction between theory
and fact ; two words, he asserts, that creationists... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
And, as colorful exchanges are far more entertaining than dry discourse, it also remains a source of
his popular appeal.
As for addressing fact versus theory, the two keywords in the titular treatise, he is slow to get to the
point. Over the next paragraph he asserts creationists, as a sweeping generalization, have presented
not a single new fact, and they have ...arguments that seemed kooky just a decade ago. This, with
the accusation that creationist s true motivations are political, along with the improper comparison
of scientific creationism to the Orwellian term newspeak, bears no relevance to the denotive
differences between fact and theory in any context. Also, his attacking an opposing stance, and
failing to point out any contradictions or fallacies therein, could be an indication that his own
position lacks substance.
Of course Professor Gould s writings were rarely without substance. He does go on to point out
two creationist s argumentative fallacies and then, finally, he addresses the issue of fact versus
theory. His distinction, summed up both imperfectly and incompletely: a theory is comprised as a
rigid, codified series of explanations of the facts; therefore, the theory of evolution, a consistent
explanation of the recurring trends found in the fossil record, is in line with said facts. It is a

The Leadership Challenge, By James M. Hinton And Berry Z....
the Introduction The Leadership Challenge, was introduced by James M. Kouzes and Berry Z.
Posner. It is widely accepted, and evidence based supported leadership model that has developed
over nearly two decades of research. While some seem to think that leadership only applies to those
persons at the head of a company or organization, that is not the case. Leadershipis everyone s
business and a process that people use daily to accomplish extraordinary things while putting forth
their best effort and enabling others to do the same. People can achieve extraordinary things when
everyone s leadership capabilities are tapped into. In leadership, honesty is an important virtue, as
in leaders serve as role models for their subordinates. Honesty goes along way and is synonymous
with other moral characteristics for a leader to include: integrity, truthfulness, and
straightforwardness. These characteristics create trust, which is critical for leaders in all positions.
Great Leaders are those who have the ability to motivate and inspire people, transform values into
action, visions into realities, obstacles into innovation, risks into rewards, challenges into
successes, all while mobilizing resources to accomplish a goal or mission. In an effort to have
employees describe what they considered extraordinary leadership experiences using examples,
Kouzes Posner created a 10 page open ended questionnaire. The survey results revealed that the

Poetic Devices In The Raven
The poem I decided to explicate was The Raven by Edgar Allen Poe. The reason I chose this poem
is because I love Edgar Allen Poe s writings. I have always loved reading his dark and twisted
poems, even when I was younger in middle school his poems always got my attention the most. I
had never read The Ravenuntil now, but I am familiar with some of his others like The Tell Tale
Heart. I did really enjoy reading The Raven , the actual raven was a little creepy, but I also like
to read poems with elements like that. In the first stanza there are two types of poetic devices
used, one of them is the use of alliteration which is found very prominent throughout the entire
poem. Some uses of alliteration that are found in the first stanza are while I pondered, weak and
weary or while I nodded, nearly napping, suddenly there came a tapping,/ as of some one gently
rapping, rapping at my chamber door. The whole first stanza is pretty much an example
alliteration because of how every word starts with the same letter or sounds closely alike. Then
the second type of poetic device used was the use of foreshadowing. Poe uses foreshadowing
when says there is a visitor tapping on his door as if something bad is going to happen. In the
second stanza Poe still uses alliteration, though not as strongly as in the first stanza. Some
examples of alliteration used in the second stanza were found in the lines, Eagerly I wished the
morrow; vainly I had sought to borrow from my books

Spinach
This experiment is concerned with identifying photosynthetic pigments found in spinach plants and
determining the spectrum of light each absorbs. The questions being posed are which pigment is
the most active in absorbing energy and which wavelengths of light it absorbs. By using paper
chromatography, different pigments of spinach leaves can be separated. Based on the results, it can
be concluded that chlorophyll is the most active pigment and photosynthetic pigments in plants
absorb lightacross the entire visible spectrum. The knowledge gained in this experiment is relevant
to understanding how the process of photosynthesisworks. A real world application for this includes

Viviparity In To Kill A Mockingbird
Introduction
Viviparity (live birth) is a highly uncommon form of reproduction in the insect world, those that
do have this type of reproduction fall into two main groups: those who have a high offspring
rates and those who have low offspring rates. Viviparity, while uncommon, does serve a distinct
purpose. In some cases the insect has very few ovarioles to begin with, in which case, it is
essential for the offspring to be given the best chances at survival they can get. Having the embryo
safely protected inside the insect while it develops gives the young insect a far better survival rate
than those who are deposited in eggs outside the mother. In other cases, such as with Aphids, it
allows for a telescoping generations effect which greatly increases the numbers of ... Show more

Ovoviviparity is a type of viviparity where the developing embryos are carried in a pouch or an
outgrowth of genital ducts and is most commonly known in the cockroach families (Huffaker,
1999, p. 149). This type of viviparity is less taxing on the female since the developing young are
not directly sustaining themselves off her body as they do in true viviparity. Aphids on the other
hand use a strange method known as telescoping generations . The term telescoping generations ,
according to Capinera (2008), refers to the fact that a mother can have in her ovarioles
developing embryos which in turn also contain embryos or future granddaughters (p. 195). This is
an advantage since as soon as they become adults they are able to reproduce immediately due to
the fact that they already had developing embryos in them (Capinera, 2008, p.1104). While
viviparity commonly has a low reproductive rate there are such insects, like cockroaches and
aphids, which are able to use this form of reproduction to their advantage to produce higher

Thesis On Code Switching
Students Language Attitude towards Classroom Code Switching in the Institute of Teacher
Education
Chapter 01
The Problem and Its Background
Language as a medium of teaching is one of the common factors in the teaching learning processes.
In terms of instructions, some learners fail to do such tasks due to misconception or
misunderstanding. Oftentimes, they were also inattentive in class interactions due to the teacher s
use or choice of words whenever he/she is explaining. In today s 21st century education, it is a fact
that seventy percent of class performance is given to the students while the remaining thirty percent
is allotted to the teacher as entitled to be the facilitator. Throughout the instruction, classroom

Jane Addams And The Hull House
Jane Addams and the Hull House
Can you imagine living in a run down neighborhood, with streets full of garbage? How about
having to watch young children play in the streets wearing dirty, ragged clothes? Jane Addams
grew up in a place like this, and she wanted to make changes in the world, so she founded the Hull
House. How did the Hull House have a positive impact on people and America? It helped create
new laws, teach immigrants important skills, improved education, and inspired others to fight for
what is right. To begin, in 1888, Jane Addamsand her good friend Ellen Gates Starr went on a trip
to visit a settlement house in London called Toynbee Hall. Toynbee Hall had many, many activities
that people were able to participate in. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

immigrants could participate in programs and learn, but it was a place where they were able to
feel safe and get the support and assistance they needed to live a normal life in the large city of
Chicago. The Hull House helped and impacted people in countless ways. One of which, was that
reformers helped teach immigrants skills that they may have needed for jobs.
Immigrationtounitedstates.org states,ВЁOf Chicago s one million residents in 1888,
approximately 78 percent were either foreign born or the children of foreign born parents.
Because of the number of potential workers, the wages were low and poverty widespread,
especially among unskilled workers. This shows us that over half of Chicago s population at the
time, was either people who weren t born in America, or children of parents that weren t born in
America. That s where the Hull House comes in. Hull House reformers specifically taught those
people things that they needed to know and things that they needed to know how to do. Reformers
also went to the Hull House and gave lectures on economics and social issues. This impacted them
because when they didn t know the things that they were taught, it was highly unlikely for them to
get a job. But when they learned these

Due to an increase in social welfare spending, local authorities took advantages and used loans to
embark on vast public housing schemes. The balance of trade was an economic indicator of the
stability.
Unfortunately for the economy of Germany the successfulness of the country was largely supported
by foreign funding. Although this gave Germany stability it was not a secure way to live, if any
communication went wrong with another country, then that country would stop funding. Also to
Germany s disadvantage, the funds could be withdrawn at short notice. As the country was
economically becoming more stable, the public spending was increasing which was not good as the
money in the country was coming from loans.
Although export production was stronger than before, they had been accompanied by a wave of
imports which caused a trade deficit; the country was importing more than it was exporting which
meant trading was unbalanced.
In the early 1920s there was unemployment however by they end of the 1920s the unemployment

Internsment And Japanese Internment Camps

Claim For years, people have argued over whether Japanese Internment camps( interment means
putting a person in prison or other kind of detention, generally in wartime. During World War II, the
American government put Japanese Americans in internment camps, fearing they might be loyal to
Japan.) are an Americanized version of concentration camps. Some say that the Japanese Internment
camps were just as brutal and inhumane as concentration camps in Nazi Germany. Others will tell
you they were completely different, and I argue the same. The concentration camps and Japanese

Reason 2 Another reason that the concentration camps and Japanese Internment camps are
completely different is because the motive behind creating the camps was incompareable. Japanese
internment camps were created because the United States was scared of connections Japanese
Americans might have to the enemy, and the feared for the safety of the country. On the
contrary, concentration camps were created out because of Hitler s pure hatred for the jews.
When Hell asked Hitler what he intended doing if he ever had full freedom of action against the
Jews, his response was: If I am ever really in power, the destruction of the Jews will be my first
and most important job. As soon as I have power, I shall have gallows after gallows erected, for
example, in Munich on the Marienplatz as many of them as traffic allows. Then the Jews will be
hanged one after another, and they will stay hanging until they stink. They will stay hanging as
long as hygienically possible. As soon as they are untied, then the next group will follow and that
will continue until the last Jew in Munich is exterminated. Exactly the same procedure will be
followed in other cities until Germany is cleansed of the last Jew! (quoted in John Toland, Adolf

The Issue Of Affirmative Action
On the contrary, supports of affirmative action feel that this law is still needed in America to
help places of higher education have more diversity which will benefit companies in the long
run and it also helps companies be more diverse and it helps them thrive. In the past few decades
the number of minorities and females in places of higher education and companies have been
rising at a slow rate. During 2012, the health care industry was suffering from lack of medical
personal in the medical field; however, 16% of the U.S. population is Latino and 14% is African
American, these groups constituted only 9% and 7%, respectively, of the total U.S. medical
school enrollment in 2012 (Graces, paragraph 2). The rate of minorities enrolled in medical
school has been slowly rising over the years. Having minorities and females in a company helps
the company be more diverse while also giving the company employees that can help the
company thrive and be successful. Supporters feel that this law benefits people who usually would
not have a chance of attending a place of higher education or be a part of a company an equal and
fair chance. Supporters of affirmative action feel that it is positive discriminationand that it benefits
places of higher education and companies not discriminate against females and minorities. A
significant, amount of court cases have been brought up to the Supreme Court dealing with
affirmative action. One important court case that deals with affirmative

Ralph Waldo Emerson And Thoreau

Next you will see how Thoreau and Emerson are clear examples of Bright Romanticism. The
inclusion of positive view of mankind that is part of Bright Romantic poets can be found in both
Emerson and Thoreau. To start off would be Ralph Waldo Emerson. A author that echoes my
statement can be found in Guidepost written by Ptolemy Tompkins titled under The Original
Positive Thinker Ralph Waldo Emerson. America s original positive thinker, Emerson was a
tireless promoter of the basic transcendentalist idea that human beings are larger infinitely larger
than they think they are. A man, he wrote, is the facade of a temple wherein all wisdom and all
good abide. What we need to do is overcome the self imposed habits of thought that prevent us
from fully realizing this potential. Or as Emerson put it, The only sin is limitation. Emerson
showed his positive view of mankind through his ideas of anything can be change. Where nothing
is impossible where you can transcend through anything and become more. Another source of
information is found in his most famous book self reliance a book the embodies the title but a
quote that can exemplify his thoughts and writers are Be yourself; no base imitator of another, but
your best self. There is something which you can do better than another. Listen to the inward voice

The Debate On Death Penalty
The debate on death penalty In her book Last Words From Death Row: The Walls Unit, Norma
Herrera writes about the tribulations she and her family went through while trying to free her
brother, Leonel, from the death row. Despite showing glaring and overwhelming evidence claiming
his innocence, Leonel was sentenced to death for a crimethat he did not commit. His last words to
the world were, I am innocent, innocent, innocent. I am an innocent man, and something very
wrong is taking place tonight. (Herrera) Those who support the death row, however, would score
Herrera for her attempt to bring light to this sensitive issue, and call her words an excessively
emphatic exultation to bring attention away from the crime itself. They would argue that a person
who took another s life should not be allowed to keep his own. The death penalty is an issue more
complicated than any debate that the country has ever seen. Despite the long debates and the
rehashed concepts that are presented to the media almost every day, there is but one truth that
defines the issue: there is no way to look at the death penalty in black and white. Where on one
hand, it ventures into immoral territory due to the obvious murder involved. On the other hand,
though, the act is justified by calling it justice or retribution. Words like revenge, good, cruel and
inhumane pop up, but they do little to cast any importance on the debate: we cannot look at the
death penalty with the expectations to reach a final

Adelaide Theatre Guide reviewer, Kylie Pedler used an inviting tone; style and vocabulary which

Fate And Free Will In Julius Caesar
The context of individuals affects their perspectives of continuing human affairs. Julius Caesar was
written by William Shakespeare in 1599 during the English Renaissance and The Prince was
composed in the 16th century by an Italian diplomat, Niccolo Machiavelli. Both composers
represent the ideas of fate and free will and ambition and the struggle for power through various
literary and dramatic techniques. Due to both composer s contexts, they are able to convey the
ideas and perspectives of ongoing human concerns to the responder.

In The Prince, the changing of roles that was taking place in Florence at the hands of the Medici
family were shown to be driven by a desire for increased power. Machiavelli metaphorically states
that the Roman Emperor, Septimius Severus, was feared and respected by all parties and he
managed to avoid being hated by the army. By stating that the Emperor was a fox and a lion ,
Machiavelli leads the responder to consider that his ambition for power was achieved by using
false teamwork: the lion can t defend itself against snares and the fox can t defend itself from

own life. They are sad stories of how they were willing to lose one of their most precious
belongings for the greater good. There s one particular story that I read a long time ago and it was
about a father who worked at a express train railroad drawbridge. He loved his son so much it was
his only son too. Then one day, he brought his son to work with him because his son loved trains
so much. During the day, there was a malfunction with the drawbridge, and it wouldn t come
back down. An express train was scheduled to cross that bridge soon, and if it didn t come down
in time it would be horrendous. So the father tells his son to go and see what s wrong with the
gears down in the bridge. The father stays where he s at, so when the bridge will come down it
will. While the son finds the problem, he fixes the problem but then falls in and he s stuck by
the top of the gears. The gears were stuck and now they could be restarted by a lever at the
maintenance booth where his father was. The boy s father sees him fall, and rushes to get him.
But, he then sees the express train coming. By then, the father has to make a decision. A, he
saves his son, but kills hundreds of people on the train and gets blamed for it. Or B, he kills his
son to save all of the passengers on the train. What do you think he picked? That man gave up
his son s life to save all the people on that train. That s dark and very depressing that it had to
come to that. I would give up a lot to stay alive, but I hope that it would never come to such a
decision as

Cultural Relativism Is Important For Many Reasons
Cultural Relativism is defined as, The principle that an individual s beliefs and activities should
be understood by others in terms of that individual s own culture . Wilson talked about this term
extensively in his class and he noticed a common trend within his classroom. The trend was that
his students warned him, Not to be judgmental or to impose your values on other people. (Soccio
2007). This is a common trend found with a lot of people in my opinion. In fact, I have the same
belief as many of Wilson s students. Cultural relativismis important for many reasons. First, having
a sense of cultural relativism provides people with a form of tolerance towards other cultures.
Second, it helps people understand acts or actions... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When these two cultures were told any other way of disposing of their dead, they were completely
shocked and almost disgusted (Rachels 2015). This helps support the fact that different cultures
have different practices and therefore different moral codes. Furthermore, if different cultures have
different moral codes and practices that are based on their own personal culture, another culture
should not be able to judge them, simply because they are unique to that culture. Tolerance is
another good quality that comes with cultural relativism. Tolerance helps us have a sort of
explanation on why other cultures act the way they do. It gives the reason of an action or act
being based on one s culture rather than because of the type of individual that they are. Take a
cultural group such as the Eskimos. The Eskimos believe in and practice infanticide throughout
their villages (Rachels 2015). This practice is considered highly wrong in American cultures, but
is considered morally acceptable in cultures like the Eskimo (Rachels 2015). What a lot of
people forget to take into account is the reason the Eskimos perform infanticide. It is not because
they are cruel people, no, it is because they are thinking about the possible future life of the child
and the future life of their village. Another baby is simply another mouth to feed, a task which can
be difficult for some Eskimo families. Therefore, in order to prevent a bad life for the baby

  • 2. The Kellogg s Factory Makes Pop Tarts BEEP BEEP BEEP! My alarm sounds. I jolt a little, but I shut it off and shift out of bed. The clock glares 6:15 a.m. It was just another weekday: get up early, go to work, come home, sleep. Or so I thought. I ate breakfast, got dressed, and set on my bike to work. Every day I worked at the Kellogg s factory. The Kellogg s factory makes Pop Tarts. My job is to take the individually wrapped Pop Tarts and put them in a sealed box. Every day I worked as hard as I could. Our biggest competition was the Kroger Brand Pop Tart, Iced Toaster Treats. Anyways, I worked long and hard. My wrists even started to hurt from all that intense packaging. Meanwhile, a worker from Iced Toaster Treats sneaks in unknowingly into our Control Department. I ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I walk into a vast, dark corridor with nothing but my flashlight to provide me vision for my path. The hallway was very long with nothing along it but unlabeled doors. A bright red line caught my eye. I turned and saw what I thought were lasers. As my flashlight glided along them, I saw the rows and rows of lasers, guarding a large shiny safe, but I didn t come there for there money, so I kept walking. Finally, I came to what seemed to be the only labeled door, the Control Department. I busted in with my crowbar and shined my flashlight inside. After inspecting a while, I came across a little red box marked sabotage . Inside the box were a couple of silver packets and a couple of blue packets. The blue packets were what I assumed was the antidote. I didn t really have time to check because workers would start to come in in about 15 minutes. I grabbed the blue packet and paced quickly out the door. Apparently I wasn t very cautious because I tripped on a wire and face planted, and the little blue packet flew out of my reach. The wire went around an antenna pole that fell when I tripped. The antenna pole hit a box of metal washers off a shelf. I shielded myself on the ground with my arms and closed my eyes. The washers went everywhere. One rolled out the door. Lying close to the door, I watched the washer roll towards the red light of the lasers. I dreaded as it rolled closer and closer to the rows of lasers. Sure enough, it rolled through one laser and fell on its ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Analysis Of Judith Wright s Asiatic Drinker ,... Australian Poet Judith Wright exploits her concerns for the environment and human rights within society; these themes are present in Metho Drinker , Remittance Man and Sanctuary . The idea of human nature is exposed through an archetype of addiction, where lack of empathy and compassion is expressed through the microcosm of society. Metho Drinker , being an existential work, depicts Wrights concerns of modern progress and exclusion. Wright exposes the entrapment of both figures with themes of conformity verses individualism, the inevitability of death and man s relationship with nature. Poetic techniques such as omniscient narrative and third person are used to heighten tension between reality and us as the responder. As an audience Remittance Man compels us to reflect upon the English class system of the 1900 s and the lack of human compassion towards migrants and lower classes. • 4. Cultural Differences Between Modern Day North And South Toronto to Texas the Journey Changes occur in every region of the world; every minute, every second. Most people generally do not approve of changes. It causes fear, mistrust, isolation, and even pain. In my youth, I liked changes. Changes were something to look forward to, it s fun to meet new people and an enjoyable way to see new places. It was useful to learn new skills and live experiences. So at the age of fifteen, my mother told me we were headed for America. No attention was given to these words, because I was a teenager who thought that the state of Texas would be quite similar to Toronto, but never did I imagine that this will completely change my perception of change. These changes have led me to understand the different culture between the north and south, not to believe in stereotypes, and made me adaptable. I can t even begin to explain the massive cultural differences between modern day North and South. Most people assume only climate and slang are the major difference in the two, however they could not be more wrong. Especially between Toronto and Wichita Falls, Texas. It may sound obvious but there is geographical difference. For one in the North we have more clear and fast rivers, and we almost always have a bay. While in the south, the soil is agriculturally more fertile, so in essence we see more farms and large areas of land. Also there is a huge population difference between Wichita Falls and Toronto, which is easily amongst the biggest and most ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Literary Analysis Of The Cask Of Amontillado The story, The Cask of Amontillado by Edgar Allen Poe, is a narration of revenge and murder crafted and committed in the most of secretive ways, that the victim, Fortunato, did not recognize the murder plan until at the very last point of last breath. The story, narrated by Montresor, gives an account of an oppressed individual, who had patiently and submissively subjected to oppression, until insults began, and he could no longer take any more. The narrator had been oppressed many times by the victim against whom he seeks revenge. In the very opening of the narration, the narrator claims to have been hurt by the victim numerous times when stating THE thousand injuries of Fortunato I had borne as I best could (Poe, n.p.). However, while suffering quietly from all the injuries he had received from Fortunato, Montresor had crafted a plan for revenge, which he ensured the target victim would not detect. Indeed, Montresor continued to mask his evil plans against the victim through acting nicely towards him and also maintaining a smile that only him knew was informed by the thought of revenge (Poe, n.p.). Indeed, Montresor no doubt comes out as very crafty, and the secretively crafted plan of revenge against Fortunato he made can be lauded as being genius. Nevertheless, this discussion holds the argument that it is Fortunato s skepticism, as opposed to Montresor s definitive and genius plan, that materializes the revenge. In a nutshell, a 7.62 muzzle brake is designed to divert the gasses following behind a fired bullet in order to counter recoil. The .30 caliber muzzle brakeis overbored enough to allow the round to pass through unimpeded. As the bullet enters the muzzle brake there is just enough room for the gasses to begin to get around its sides. It s at this point that a standard threaded 5/8x24 muzzle break goes to work. The gas first encounters baffles that have been machined into the interior surface of the muzzle break. Within a mili second, that .300 blackout muzzle brake diverts the gasses horizontally. ... Although some slaves were sold against their own will, many of them had a choice of the master. Slave owners would attend auctions and persuade slaves to become theirs by filling their heads with promises of a good plantation life. It was a humble position that demanded a man to think of his duties and obligations rather than his privileges. And it demanded the slaves loyalty to his master. The slave had no interests of his own, all he did was for His Master. (Marji Mike Kruger). However, people rarely stop to consider the physiological differences in individuals with psychopathy, focusing instead on outward displays of sensational aggression. Much like the University of Pennsylvania study, results indicated that reduced functioning in parts of the brain involved in moral decision making and the expression of emotion may help to explain psychopathy (Glenn et al, 2009; Marsh et al., 2011). Another theory of the physiological etiology of psychopathy focuses on the role of serotonergic functionality. As serotonin functions to maintain mood balance, deficits in the functionality of serotonin have the potential to be hugely detrimental. A study published in Motivation and Emotion analyzed the role of serotonin in high levels of aggression, a key component of the expression of psychopathy. Researchers also proposed a connection between high levels of testosterone and low levels serotonin working together to increase both aggression and impulsivity (Montoya et al., 2012). Doss, very few people are familiar with the names of recent conscientious objectors. In fact, in an all volunteer force that exists in the United States military today, it is shocking to learn that about 100 members of the military still apply to be a conscientious objectoreach year. While numerous military members and United States civilians agree that it is outrageous for a volunteer in the military to decide they cannot fight in a war they enlisted to participate in, this does not fully encapsulate the issue at hand. The military service offers incentives such as careers, education, and life long benefits; thus, some will volunteer for military service without deeply considering the ethics of service and their personal convictions; moreover, the nature of war causes man to struggle with the morality after deployment, resulting in a conviction arriving late into one s career. Therefore, when one faces an unresolved conflict of conscience, it is necessary for a military member to examine their moral beliefs in order to make an ethical decision regarding whether to continue military participation. When enlisting into any branch of the United States Armed Forces, there is plenty of documentation to accompany it. In addition to the personal history, medical investigations, and physical readiness testing, there are specific questions to ensure each recruit is the right person for the job. In section 25 of DD form 1966, there are three significant questions specifically asking about limitations relating to a history of conscientious objection or current objections. These questions provide ample opportunity to examine one s beliefs. However, the fact remains that circumstances and experiences can change even the deep rooted, core beliefs of a person. The reality of service, especially in violent confrontations, is enough to make anyone think twice about the morality of war and violence. When personal beliefs begin to conflict with the Oath and the obligation of a service member, it is necessary for them to apply the Constitutional Paradigm. It is widely accepted, and evidence based supported leadership model that has developed over nearly two decades of research. While some seem to think that leadership only applies to those persons at the head of a company or organization, that is not the case. Leadershipis everyone s business and a process that people use daily to accomplish extraordinary things while putting forth their best effort and enabling others to do the same. People can achieve extraordinary things when everyone s leadership capabilities are tapped into. In leadership, honesty is an important virtue, as in leaders serve as role models for their subordinates. Honesty goes along way and is synonymous with other moral characteristics for a leader to include: integrity, truthfulness, and straightforwardness. These characteristics create trust, which is critical for leaders in all positions. Great Leaders are those who have the ability to motivate and inspire people, transform values into action, visions into realities, obstacles into innovation, risks into rewards, challenges into successes, all while mobilizing resources to accomplish a goal or mission. I have always loved reading his dark and twisted poems, even when I was younger in middle school his poems always got my attention the most. I had never read The Ravenuntil now, but I am familiar with some of his others like The Tell Tale Heart. I did really enjoy reading The Raven , the actual raven was a little creepy, but I also like to read poems with elements like that. In the first stanza there are two types of poetic devices used, one of them is the use of alliteration which is found very prominent throughout the entire poem. Some uses of alliteration that are found in the first stanza are while I pondered, weak and weary or while I nodded, nearly napping, suddenly there came a tapping,/ as of some one gently rapping, rapping at my chamber door. The whole first stanza is pretty much an example alliteration because of how every word starts with the same letter or sounds closely alike. Then the second type of poetic device used was the use of foreshadowing. Poe uses foreshadowing when says there is a visitor tapping on his door as if something bad is going to happen. In the second stanza Poe still uses alliteration, though not as strongly as in the first stanza. Ovoviviparity is a type of viviparity where the developing embryos are carried in a pouch or an outgrowth of genital ducts and is most commonly known in the cockroach families (Huffaker, 1999, p. 149). This type of viviparity is less taxing on the female since the developing young are not directly sustaining themselves off her body as they do in true viviparity. Aphids on the other hand use a strange method known as telescoping generations . The term telescoping generations , according to Capinera (2008), refers to the fact that a mother can have in her ovarioles developing embryos which in turn also contain embryos or future granddaughters (p. 195). This is an advantage since as soon as they become adults they are able to reproduce immediately due to the fact that they already had developing embryos in them (Capinera, 2008, p.1104). On the contrary, concentration camps were created out because of Hitler s pure hatred for the jews. When Hell asked Hitler what he intended doing if he ever had full freedom of action against the Jews, his response was: If I am ever really in power, the destruction of the Jews will be my first and most important job. Then the Jews will be hanged one after another, and they will stay hanging until they stink. They will stay hanging as long as hygienically possible. • 33. The Debate On Death Penalty The debate on death penalty In her book Last Words From Death Row: The Walls Unit, Norma Herrera writes about the tribulations she and her family went through while trying to free her brother, Leonel, from the death row. Despite showing glaring and overwhelming evidence claiming his innocence, Leonel was sentenced to death for a crimethat he did not commit. His last words to the world were, I am innocent, innocent, innocent. I am an innocent man, and something very wrong is taking place tonight. (Herrera) Those who support the death row, however, would score Herrera for her attempt to bring light to this sensitive issue, and call her words an excessively emphatic exultation to bring attention away from the crime itself. They would argue that a person who took another s life should not be allowed to keep his own. The death penalty is an issue more complicated than any debate that the country has ever seen. Despite the long debates and the rehashed concepts that are presented to the media almost every day, there is but one truth that defines the issue: there is no way to look at the death penalty in black and white. Where on one hand, it ventures into immoral territory due to the obvious murder involved. On the other hand, though, the act is justified by calling it justice or retribution. Words like revenge, good, cruel and inhumane pop up, but they do little to cast any importance on the debate: we cannot look at the death penalty with the expectations to reach a final ... Cultural Relativism Is Important For Many Reasons Cultural Relativism is defined as, The principle that an individual s beliefs and activities should be understood by others in terms of that individual s own culture . Wilson talked about this term extensively in his class and he noticed a common trend within his classroom. The trend was that his students warned him, Not to be judgmental or to impose your values on other people. (Soccio 2007). This is a common trend found with a lot of people in my opinion. Tolerance is another good quality that comes with cultural relativism. Tolerance helps us have a sort of explanation on why other cultures act the way they do. It gives the reason of an action or act being based on one s culture rather than because of the type of individual that they are. Take a cultural group such as the Eskimos. The Eskimos believe in and practice infanticide throughout their villages (Rachels 2015). This practice is considered highly wrong in American cultures, but is considered morally acceptable in cultures like the Eskimo (Rachels 2015). What a lot of people forget to take into account is the reason the Eskimos perform infanticide. It is not because they are cruel people, no, it is because they are thinking about the possible future life of the child and the future life of their village.
