Writing Style Reflection
In my first semester of college at Saint Leo University, seeing that I had to take and academic
writing class gave me chills. After taking high school English classes where you are constantly
writing for a grade and to please the teacher s idea of what good writing is, I couldn t help being
concerned about what a college level writingclass was going to be like. Teachers in high school
were constantly trying to tell you how to write their way and perfect what they thought was good
writing. Little did I know everyone s writing styleis good in its own way. This academic writing
class proved to me that no writing style is right or wrong, but instead all writing styles have their
own uniqueness and character to them. After reading the assigned articles and analyzing the
writing process and other topics discussed in this class, I now see writing as an extraordinary
process that is different for everyone. After writing papers and getting feedback, I saw where
my writing lacked solid evidence in my rhetorical analysis paper, and I also found certain ways I
can write more efficiently in my process analysis paper. I also learned how discourse
communities functioned and how genre is something completely different than what our K 12
teachers have taught me for so long. The goal of this class was to help me; see writing as a
process, adapt my ideation, revision and products to improve my writing, and develop my critical
reading, writing, and thinking skills. I believe I have achieved

Megan s Law Case Study
Jennifer, I enjoyed reading your post, especially when you mention employers hiring sex
offenders taking opposing employment action against that employee based on the sex offender
status. Megan s Law is different from state to state. Tennessee Megan s Law says that within 48
hours upon release from prison the offender must register; can one commit a crime within that 48
hour window. (Megan s Law for Tennessee, 2016) Tennessee Megan s Law states if you move into
Tennessee from another state and are a registered offender you must register with Tennessee, who
notifies Tennessee when an offender relocates here. (Megan s Law for Tennessee, 2016) Offenders
want the chance to move back into society, but the Megan s Law needs more classification to make
offenders accountable. It seems as if the Fourth... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A sex offender cannot live or work within 1,000 feet of parks or educational institutions, and
state laws say those who committed crimes against minors cannot live with children. (TENN.
CODE ANN. В§ 40 39 203, West, 2008) For example, a sex offender in Nashville lived in a
duplex next door to his son, daughter in law, and grandchildren. He was kicked out of his house;
therefore, he filed a lawsuit regarding his right to live in the duplex and have his own children visit.
Nashville Criminal Court Judge Seth Norman ruled in 2013 that the law s ban on residing with a
minor did not include the duplex living arrangement nor overnight visits. (Barchenger, 2016)
However, the lawsuit challenges the retroactive application of the sex offender registry laws,
including those restrictions on contact with children, work, and residency. It argues those
restrictions violate the due process clause of the Fourteen Amendment and a constitutional
provision known as the ex post facto clause, which says laws cannot retroactively enact punishment
for previously legal

Managing Strategic Change at the Hmv Group
Managing Strategic Change At The HMV Group |
1. IntroductionHMV Group announced a three year strategic and operational review in March
2007. The primary purpose of this dissertation is to analyse the methods used to manage this
strategic change and to discuss alternatives. The secondary focus is to assess the decision to
change. At a time of change, much focus is placed upon developing strategy and not enough on the
implementation and management side. It is possible that a perfect strategy for a situation is wasted
by poor implementation. A specific strategy can be developed over night, however; successful
strategy implementation is a much longer process. In order to analyse HMV Group s change
management efforts, it is crucial to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
ParadoxThere are many paradoxical issues present in change management. Just one manifestation
of this would be middle managers withholding information they are given to disseminate because
they wish to retain their knowledgeable image; defeating the point of a middle manager. Michael E
Raynor (2007) in his book entitled The Strategy Paradox presents the idea that a successful strategy
requires the full commitment of the organisation, which leads to unsuccessful performance overall;
due to over commitment. Flood and Dresher s (1950) Prisoners Dilemma, applied to the world of
business, will also conclude that non competition is the most effective path in the long run. Both
imply that strong competition efforts eventually lead to failure that mediocrity is the best route to
follow as companies have a silent agreement to operate in a state of equilibrium. However, in the
case of HMV Group, its operating industry is in decline; therefore failure is the only eventuality of
a failure to compete. ContextAs identified above, much of the literature on the subject of managing
strategic change has an element of paradox attached to it. The logical reason for this is that
different methods depend on the circumstances the organisation is faced with. As there are no exact
laws of change management, this is what makes the subject complex; but more interesting. Most of
the literature aims to provide a theory for each and every eventuality;

Dehumanizing Death Penalty
The death penalty is proven to not deter criminals from committing a crime punishable by death.
There are many arguments on whether the death penalty should be legal, but the debate boils down
to personal morals. The death penalty is immoral. Criminals will act on their drive, with no thoughts
about future consequences. The death penaltynot only hurts the criminal, but it affects the criminal
s family. The family already had to experience what it felt like to see a loved one take an innocent
person s life. This causes emotional unnecessary emotional distress for the family and those close to
the person on death row. Murdering the criminal will only put the family through even more
unnecessary trauma. Furthermore, humans are not pets. The human race should not be able to put
others down in the sense of death. It is dehumanizing for the person sentenced to death and the
executioner. There should not be a job in the United States where, in the job description, it states
that you will kill someone.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
If so many people murder, why aren t there more people on death row? Who chooses who gets the
death penalty and who does not? To my knowledge, there is not a manual detailing the exceptions
of murder to avoid the death penalty. A jury should have to obtain irrefutable evidence of a murder
but that usually does not happen. Innocent people can be wrongly convicted and executed. Mental
illnesses should be taken into consideration when assigning convicted murderers to death row. A
mentally ill person that has committed a crime that has put them in jail should be in a mental psych
ward for rehabilitation to help

Lucretia
The Lucretia was painted between 1520 to 1525 by Joos Van Cleve. The painting is an oil
painting on a wooden canvas. It can attribute to the High Renaissance art in Italy because it has
similar qualities and expressions with other works of art from that time period. The subject of this
picture is Lucretia an ancient Roman woman who had a vital role in reshaping the Roman Kingdom
into the Roman Republic. In the paintingshe is standing while piercing herself with a knife. She is
wearing a red coat with brown fur trimming. It is very lose on her dropping off her shoulders
exposing her breasts. She is also wearing two necklaces, a golden ring, and a golden bracelet.
One necklace is a golden chain, and the other is a necklace with a pendent. Both of her clothes
and jewelry shows that either she was in a wealthy family or had a high social position. Lucretia
is also wearing a red bonnet with a white veil that almost looks like smoke. The knife that she is
holding between her two hands is cutting through her stomach and going up. Blood can be seen
coming out of her wound. Lucretia is clearly commenting suicide and her facial expression is
just utter pain. Lucretia s body is only about three quarters shown of her upper body. Her breasts
are exposed and how her jewelry is draped on her naked body shows an immediate impression of
beauty and luxury of the female figure. Her head is tilted slightly to one side and her hands
clenching the knife shows that she might be reflecting on

Research Paper On Venus Transit
The transit of Venus, seen from Earth as a small, dark disk crossing over the sun, is one of the
rarest astronomical events to ever witness. If you missed it back in 2012 then chances are you ll
never see it again in your lifetime. In order for the transit to happen, Venus orbit has to align just
right so that the planetis positioned exactly between the Earth and the sun. The transit has helped
astronomers learn more about Venus atmosphere, the width of the sun, the size of the solar system,
and it has helped to figure out exactly how long an astronomical unit (AU) is. Different filters on
telescopes were used to capture the different lights emitted from the sun during the Venus transit. A

Defense, Necessity Defense And Affirmative Defense
According to the United States constitution every American Citizen is entitled to a trial and an
attorney. With the right to a trial and an attorney those accused also have a right to bring up a
defense in justifying or excusing their actions. In this essay I will be looking at defenses such as
self defense, necessity defense and affirmative defense. This essay will serve as a guide to what
these defenses really mean and when it is acceptable to use them. A defense is when a defendant
and his or her attorney provide evidence on why they should not be held accountable for the
crime they have ben accused. The purpose of a defense is so a person won t be held responsible
for the crimes they have committed. There are two kinds of defenses a factual defense and a
legal defense. A factual defense is when a defended simply states that they didn t commit the
crime, such as providing an alibi. Where as a legal defense a defendant may have committed the
crime but should face no legal liability. There are two kinds of legal defense justifications and
excuses. An Affirmative defense is when a defendant provides evidence, which can influence the
legal responsibility the defendant will be held responsible for, even if the defendant committed the
crime in question. An affirmative defense may completely exonerate a defendant but it may also
just lower the charges brought against the defended. For example a person who is charged with
first degree murder can be found not guilty using

`` Pied Beauty `` By Gerard Manley Hopkins
Throughout recorded history, humans have accredited the happenings of nature to a higher
power; shown through religious beliefs past and present. The Greeks believed in a myriad of
gods and goddesses, who supposedly governed all aspects of life and nature. They believed in a
god or goddess to represent each part of nature from the sun to the sea; there was even a goddess
of rainbows. The Grecians used their religion to explain the elements of their world for which
they had no other explanation. Christians explain the natural world in a similar fashion. Instead
of a god or goddess for each individual piece of nature, they preach that nature was created and is
controlled by their God. The belief of divine control is a popular topic in literature; specifically
poetry. Pied Beauty written by Gerard Manley Hopkinsin 1877, and Design written by Robert Frost
in 1922 are just two examples of many that follow this trend. Gerard Manley Hopkins was a 19th
century, English, Victorian poet. He was brought up in a religious and artistic family, leading to
his becoming a poet and Jesuit priest (Reid). Alternatively, Robert Frost was a 20th century,
modern, American poet. Frost lived and taught in New England; through his poetry he described
much of its scenery and landscape (Gerber). Despite the differences in their lives and writing
styles, Frost and Hopkins developed poems of similar image and theme. Though Hopkins s Pied
Beauty and Frost s Design are of similar theme, their

Symbolism In A Worn Path
A Worn Path by Eudora Welty portrays an elderly, southern, African American woman s endurance
through a lengthy journey from her home to Natchez, Mississippi to obtain medicine for her ill
grandson. Throughout the journey, the protagonist, Phoenix Jackson, confronts several conflicts.
The tale describes the encounters of Phoenix Jackson during her travels using literary devices such
as symbolism, conflict, and allusion to detail Jackson s experiences as she overcomes the physical,
psychological, and social obstacles she faces that ultimately emphasize her character.
The story revolves around the main character, Phoenix Jackson. Jackson, an older woman with
numberless of branching wrinkles that form a whole little tree in the middle of her forehead,
encounters many setbacks, including poor eyesight, fatigue, multiple falls, thorn bushes, and barbed
wire. In Saralyn R. Daly s, A Worn PathRetrod , it is stated that Phoenix encounters not mere
difficulty on her path, but evil, (Paragraph 1). Although the obstacles seem as though they will get
the best of her, she perseveres through each like the ancient mythical bird, the phoenix. Ancient
Greek mythology says the long lived phoenix bird cyclically regenerated from its predecessor s
ashes after being engulfed in flames to burn to ash. After every fall, akin to a phoenix dying, she
rose again, stronger, persevering as a phoenix does through its death.
Phoenix Jackson s journey is only to get medicine for her grandson,

Abnormal Psychology Video Analysis
This video portrays a young girl playing with a young Belgian Malinois. The video starts with
the dog bringing back a large purple ball, the young girl dangles a tug in front of the puppy, and
the puppy grabs hold of the tug. The two of them play tug for about 5 seconds, the girl releases the
tug, and the puppy is preoccupied with the tug, chewing on it, looking at it, engrossed with the tug.
Next, rather quickly, the girlkicks the purple ball, which goes falling off to the right somewhere, and
immediately the doggoes after the purple ball even though it looked extremely preoccupied with the
tug. The dog runs after the purple ball catching it and immediately returns it to the girl. The girl is

Essentially, all of the comments are towards the girl and on her brilliance. There are some
comments on how cute the dog is, but there are no comments on the behavior and brilliance of the
dog. There is the one comment from the owner on the dog s natural apport, which does suggest
the owner is recognizing the dog s brilliance. Do I think this is an example of Theory of Mind?
Well, in some ways yes since the dog is watching the girl, trying to please her, and play with the
toy that the girl wants. To my mind, that takes some higher thinking skills. However, this is
could also be training; the dog could have been trained to respond like that, although since it is
young, it is probably a more natural response from the dog. Anyhow, the point is we will
probably not be able to answer whether this dog has Theory of Mind since essentially the dog
cannot talk, and communicate back to us in words. Whereas other species can talk for instance,
African Grey parrots can talk, Chimps know sign language and dolphins have a language too.
However, even with those animals we do not know if they possess a full Theory of Mind, which
would mean identical to a non autistic

Erikson s Psychodynamic Stage Analysis
By this point My father had moved out and I do not know how often I saw him. My earliest
memories still do not encompass this time period. Freud identifies this period as Phallic Stage.
My father was not there full time so I was not able to fully grasp his mannerisms and learn manly
things. Some say I can be effeminate at times, and my choice of friends causes questions as well.
During this stage Freud notes that their sexual identity is formed (McLeod). For most of my
adult life my close friends fall into categories that quite often other people do not understand. My
close emotional friends are mostly gay males, whereas my sexual partners are females, both bi
and straight. My male friends are compassionate, understanding. Since I identify as straight, they
are non threatening to my sexual partners and quite often know more straight girls than I do.

rationale of your contention. Fallacies can be either illegitimate arguments or superfluous focuses,
and are frequently recognized on the grounds that they lack evidence to support their case. In a

legalization of gay marriage. He discusses how he doesn t want his children exposed to public

Written by Walter Sosnosky, the writer shares his angry view of how he felt Officer Wilson was
found guilty merely because he was a white officer and the victim was a black man. In his letter,
he writes, America found Officer Wilson guilty of murdering Mr. Michael Brown based on one
fact, that Officer Wilson is white. All that you have done was sent a message to all America and
the world that mob justice leaves only death, destruction and more hatred. When are we as a
nation going to wake up and face the fact that through unity and respect of the judicial system
can we live in trust and peace. I believe that Mr. Sosnosky was making a hasty generalization. A
hasty generalization is a contention that assumes all are the same, however, there are
excessively few occurrences, making it impossible to backing such a case. The writer suggests
that all of America found Officer Wilson guilty. That isn t possible when a jury consists of 12
people and there are over 321 million people in the United States. He also argues that a message
was sent to all of America and the world that mob justice leaves only death, annihilation and
further hate (Sosnosky). I believe that Mr. Sosnosky has also used two logical fallacies in one
statement, a hasty generalization and a slippery slope. He made a hasty generalization when he
says that a message was sent to all of America and the whole world. This simply is not possible. I
am sure there are many people who are not even familiar with the case, not only in the United
States, but throughout the world. In this letter, you will also find he used a slippery slope fallacy,
in which Walter Sosnosky states that mob justice leaves only death, annihilation and further hate.
The Slippery Slope is a fallacy in which somebody expresses that some event should occur after
another with no contention for the inevitability of the occasion being alluded to. A great part of the

overlooking the ancient harbor. It s also rectangular in form with the same Ionic column filled

Television Is A Key Component Of Our Daily Lives
Introduction
A television is a machine with a screen that is capable of displaying images. Televisions receive
broadcast signals and turn them into pictures and sound. Although debated, the TV is often
credited as being invented by Vladimir Zworykin a Russian born American who worked for
Westinghouse, and Philo Taylor Farnsworth, a boy in Beaver City, Utah. Vladimir held the patent
for the TV, but it was Farnsworth who was the first person to first successfully transmit a TV signal
on September 7, 1927.
The television is a key component of our daily lives and is a marvel of engineering and utilisation of
technology. Smartly incorporating complex electronic theories and concepts, the televisions has

A pixel is defined in television terms as the smallest area of a television image that can be shown
within the parameters of the certain system. This process is accomplished by firstly analysing
the image by using a photoelectric device in a series of horizontal scans from the top to the
bottom of the image to create an electrical signal in which the colour and brightness values of the
individual picture elements are represented as voltage levels of the respective video waveform;
secondly, by transmitting the same respective values of the picture elements in a sequence as
voltage levels of a video signal; and finally by reproducing the image of the original scene in a
video signal display of parallel scanning lines on a viewing screen(Repairfaq.cis.upenn.edu,
2015) (wiseGEEK, 2015). The most primitive form of televisions relied on a cathode ray tube to
produce images, and operated with an analog signal(Lapin, 2015). As technology has developed
over time and broadcast signals transitioned from analog to digital, LCD (liquid crystal display)
and plasma televisions were created. These TVs are more compact, are flatter and have crisper
pictures than their cathode ray counterparts because the bulky tube is removed, and in its stead they
use a thin grid of pixels to create the images (Repairfaq.cis.upenn.edu, 2015)(Computerhope.com,
2015) (Lapin, 2015)
If the sound as you hear it from the television had

Characters Transition into an Adult
As people will say growing up sucks, you finally realize you aren t a kid anymore. In the coming
of age film, you see the main character emotionally transition into a adult. What makes the coming
of age film special is the relationship the protagonist has with his or her group of friends. The
coming of age film differs in friendships, depending on the gender of the main character. The
friendships help shape how the protagonistis going to be by the end of the film, usually in a positive
light.
When the films characters are predominantly woman the film is usually emotional and sarcastic.
The female friendships are not usually compromised and the girls are often loyal to a fault. In the

The On People s Daily Lives
Kokusaku kamishibai emphasis more on people s daily lives. They were formerly categorized
as educational kamishibai, but later emphasized more on the promotion of government policies
(Horner, 23). Typical themes of kokusaku kamishibai would be promoting thrift during wartime,
encouraging people to go to the hospital to visit the wounded soldiers, reminding people to keep
healthy so that they could contribute more to the nation, glorifying Japan and its emperor,
stressing the honorable legends of the Japanese nation, and instilling the Bushido, or the way of
the warriors (Horner, 23) For example, kamishibai Bokura no chikai ( Our Promise ) and O

parents. Children were encouraged either help with their mothers housework or talking about their
fathers who were at the war in an aspiring tone (Horner, 23). Considering the main viewership of
kamishibai consists of young children, Japanese government employed kokusaku kamishibai to
instruct the young generation how they should behave everyday and remind them of the
characters they had to play in regard of the prosperity of the Great Imperial of Japan. This kind of
kamishibai is very much similar to the moral education, but they ultimately have characteristic of
wartime propaganda because the issues related to the war exist from time to time in the storyline.

reputation for creating products that work well and are safe. This provides value to the customer
because they know that the product was heavily researched before it was marketed to the general
public.
However, this is not rare among firms in this industry as all new products must be cleared by the
Food and Drug Administration before it can be marketed which gives consumers a certain
amount of security when choosing a product regardless of who produced it. This also means that
it is somewhat easy to imitate. Once you get past the start up costs, if you produce a product that
is not already patented and is approved by the FDA, your product is just as good as the
competitors. The reason for the lack of rarity and ease of imitability of the brand name is that, like
other pharmaceutical companies, Bristol Myers Squibb does not push the brand name but rather the
name they have assigned to their product. The company s name does not appear in any of its
product s advertisements. This being the case they must diversify their product line.
Product Diversity

Satan As A Hero In Paradise Lost
The true hero of Paradise Lost is Satan because He receives a noble birth, Was a warrior, and
travels all around the earth many times. Throughout Paradise lost by John Milton, it states many
times with evidence that Satan is truly the hero in the story. The article The idea As Satan As The
Hero Of Paradise lostby John Steadman, shows evidence from paradise lost that explains how
Satan is viewed as the heroand not the villain. This Paper will show that Evil sometimes prevails
and is the hero of it all, and with the evidence given from each paper should be enough to prove
this. Although it seems unusual that the king of evil and leader of hellcould ever be a hero, but if
looked at carefully, characteristics of an epic hero can be seen. From being tossed out of Heaven,
to tricking Eve into eating the apple from the Garden, his journey was definitely epic.
Satan s noble birth was definitely unusual and not typical to other epic heroes. The point is that
Satan is not your average hero. He is furtive, untrustworthy, and just plane evil. How can
someone or something be that evil and still be a hero? It all starts out with his birth, or rebirth so
to speak. When God hurld headlong flaming from the erthereal skie (milton 45), and he layed in
hell and all he could think of is anger, hate, and evil. God had just picked up Lucifer and threw
out of heaven and into hell Because the hero in Paradise Lost was unsuccessful (Steadman 257).
This was the end of lucifer, and the beginning of Satan. This Rebirth has given Satan noble because
it came directly from the big man, and that certainly makes it very special.
Satan s war did not last long, but He was still a warrior. There is nothing about a epic hero saying
that you have to be a great warrior and win. Satan was neither of these, and payed the price for it.
Being a warrior is a trait of an epic hero and even though satan was not a very good one, he still
qualifies. He had challenged God, who then had cast him out from heav n, with all his host of
rebel angels, by whose aid aspiring to set himself in glory above his peers (Milton 38). Satan and
his army who were turned angels all failed to overthrow God and therefore got kicked out of
heaven and thrown into

Intelligent Design is a Fact, Not a Theory Essay
There are things in the universe and on the planet that point to an intelligent design and that God is
that Intelligent Designer. There are many unique items within animals, plants, and human beings.
These items are just too unique and complex to have just happened. The intelligent design of these
items points to an Intelligent Designer not just chance. Intelligent design is the study of patterns in
nature, animals, and human beings that are best explained as the result of intelligence. (Dembski.
2010) Intelligent design investigates the effect of intelligence not the Designer. Therefore,
intelligent design directly challenges Darwinism, Evolution, and other naturalistic approaches to the
origin of life. (Dembski.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The outer layer of the beak is not a solid structure. It is made up of layers of teeny, tiny hexagonal
plates that overlap like roof shingles. The interior is made of something completely different. It
is made of light, rigid foam made of little beams and membranes. The beak is also hollow is
some spots. John Eliot says that the beak of the toucan is ingeniously designed to be both strong
and light. The dictionary defines the word ingenious to mean marked by inventive skill and
imagination. Since evolution says there is no design to anything that everything just happened,
it cannot explain the unique, creative design of the toucan s beak that lies with the Designer.
(Butt. 2006) The third animal is the duck billed platypus. Evolutionists are astounded at the
myriad of varying structures found on the duck billed platypus. Its beak would imply a close
relationship to ducks; its tail might place it with beavers; its hair is similar to that of a bear; its
webbed feet imply that it would be an otter; and its claws are the likeness of a reptile s Evolution
has no explanation for the varying structures that are found on the platypus. The platypus has a
beak that is similar to a duck s. The platypus has a tail like a beaver s. The platypus s tail is furry
unlike the beavers. The platypus has five toes with on its foot with webbing like an otter s, but it
has claws like a reptile s. The platypus fur is similar

Model T Ford Research Paper
Well to start off my Model T Ford was created and invented by Henry Ford. Henry Ford was born
July 30, 1863, on his family s farm in Dearborn, Michigan. His product had influenced the lives of
Americans because it had created a new to get to places. Now people don t have to walk, use a
horse, or even use a steamboat. Many people couldn t afford the Model T because it was a lot of
money back then, the cost of a brand new Model T is $650.00. It had also created a new way of
producing of different products, the assembly line. An assembly line is when a series of workers
and machines in a factory by which a succession of identical items is progressively assembled.
The Model T created mobility and prosperity on an undreamed of scale through manufacturing
efficiencies at a price that anyone could afford. It is all because of the Model T we have a more
efficient and faster way of producing items. Now we don t see many Model T Fords around
driving, but there are a handful of in car shows.
Now in everyday life we really don t see that many Model Ts around. This is so because now they
are more in car shows instead of the road, only 15 million were built and 200,000 still exist till this
day. If you were to buy a Model T today they would go around from $10,000 to about $40,000, I ...

The Stereotypes Of Britney Spears
A sixteen year old girl poses for the camera, wearing a shirt that resembles something more akin
to a bra than to an actual shirt. She is lying prostrate upon the floor with the photographer
snapping pictures above her scantily clad form. The girl s name is Britney Spears. She has just

As Britney s veneer of a bubblegum pop princess fades, she has resorted to shedding more and
more layers of clothing in order to attract a new breed of audience. Singing songs entitled

Post Colonial Mexico Essay
The history of Post colonial Mexico included many successful and influential leaders: Porfirio
Diaz, Francisco Madero, Francisco (Pancho) Villa, and Emiliano Zapata. Disparities in
classification of the revolution arise from the numerous factions and ideological assumptions
advocated for the overthrow of Diaz s rule, hence one can argue that it was a political, social, or
economical revolution. A social revolution advocates a complete transformation of all characteristic
aspects of society, encompassing the political structure, economically distribution, and social
hierarchy. These men set forth some major objectives to revive Mexicothat led to the Mexico

The Plan of San Luis Potosi simply was for the people of Mexico to raise their arms to overthrow
the dictatorship of Diaz and reinstitute democracy. The countryside and city joined together
under the leadership of Francisco Madero to overthrow Porfirio Diaz after 1910. There were a
number of revolts and uprisings around the country in Madero s name. In February 1911,
Madero and his men attached the city of Casas Grandes in Chihuahua and defeated Diaz s
federals. Madero and his men continued attacking other cities and they were warned not to get
too close to the U.S. border because it might hurt Americans in the process of them fighting
within their own country. However, his generals, Pascal Orozco and Francisco Villa, were eager to
fight. They attacked Juarez against Madero s orders, and defeated Diaz s federal troops again. On
May 1911, a peace treaty was signed and Porfirio Diaz agreed to resign and to go into exile. On
November 1911, Francisco I. Madero became the first new President of Mexico in almost 30
years. From the beginning, he was a moderate. He wanted to challenge Diaz, but he did not want
to institute policies that went against the rich landowner class to which his family belonged. He
kept most of the power structure created by Diaz intact, much to the dismay of those who had
hoped for significant change. Very quickly, Madero alienated his former allies, Pascal Orozco and
Emiliano Zapata. Emiliano Zapata was born in

that the world is beautiful. Lawrence Ferlinghetti s life experiences as an orphan and a soldier in
World War II had shown him the flaws of society that has existed in many generations such as
hunger, death and inequality. To raise consciousness of the world, he used his literature to achieve
this goal. In the didactic poem, The World is a Beautiful Place , Lawrence Ferlinghetti reveals the
brutal truth of the world in order to break the narrow minded and ignorant outlook people have

One might argue that she is able to be happy because she is a fictional character without any

have human stresses and obstacles. So, how do these happy heroes keep up their positivity?

gravity and acceleration pulling you down the spinning hill. Once you stop spinning while going

relaxed, and the students tend to enjoy class more. His style, much like his personality, are very
unique and creative. One way he expresses his unique teaching style was by having his students rip
out the introduction to their poetry textbook. He told them to rip out the pages because he wanted
his students to think for themselves. The textbook told them what to think about poetry, which was
not what Mr. Keating wanted. By telling them to rip out the pages, he expressed his individuality
through his unique teaching style. Another way Mr. Keating embodied individuality was by
having his students stand on his desk. He has the students stand on his desk as a reminder to look

industry where companies produces PCs (desktops and notebooks), handheld devices (smart

performance differs. Dell, once the world s largest PC maker in 2001, has continually lost its
market share to HP and Acer since 2007 (Guglielmo 2009). The cause is rooted in two differences
of these companies: company diversifications and core competences. Therefore, how firms can

Public Administration And The Dichotomy
ORIGINS OF POLITICS ADMINISTRATION DICHOTOMY
The dichotomy has been one of the most important concepts in the field of public administration.
Even though for more than a century it has been the most debatable with disreputable issues in the
field. Svara and Overeem (2006), state that the dichotomy expands and contracts, rises and falls
but never goes away, that is to say that the heat may wear off once in a while but the debate is

The dichotomy was not a construct until the late 1940s which is when it became an important issue
of literature in public administration (Tahmasebi and Musavi, 2011:131). Many scholars have
traced this construct back to Woodrow Wilson who is also known as the Godfather of Public

The main success of the Bureau lies in the establishment of schools. It spent over five million
dollars for the creation of schools; by 1870, there were over 1000 schools in the south. It helped

to school, it also helped with the funding of churches. Unfortunately, by 1971, it had lost most of

Comparing Apple Vs Apple
The smartphone industry is a very up and coming place. In the US, more than 77% of adults own a
smartphone (Smith). There are many different kinds of smartphones. They can vary in shape, size,
color, and brand. Two of the largest brands of smartphone are Samsung and Apple. They make two
of the hottest phones on the market right now. Just recently Samsung made the Galaxy S8, and
Apple came out with the iPhone8. Both phones are reported to be top of the line. Both being high
end devices have many similarities, but they also have differences that set them far apart from
each other. Let s start off with one big difference between these two phones, the camera. We re
again treated to a solitary 12 megapixel f/1.8 rear snapper... The Galaxy S8 comes with a 12
megapixel Dual Pixelrear camera (Spendelow). The difference between the cameras here is that
the Galaxy has a dual camera, whereas the iPhone does not. The iPhone 8 Plus and the iPhone X
do have the dual camera if you re willing to spend the extra money. These two phones also have
different camera resolution. The Galaxy s camera resolution is 2960 x 1440 pixels, and the
iPhones is 1334 x 750 pixels (Bushnell). Between the two phones camera resolution, the Galaxy
has the iPhone beat. The Samsung s front facing camera is also a little bit better than the iPhone
s. The iPhone s camera is 7 megapixels whereas the Samsungs is 8 megapixels (Kidman).
However, the iPhone has reportedly been seen with warmer colors, helping with the contrast of
pictures. Overall, the Samsung s dual rear camera and 8 megapixels front facing camera has the
iPhone beat. Another big difference between the two phones is the hardware and internal specs.
One main difference between these two phones is the two kinds of operating systems they use.
Samsung uses Android 7.1.1, and the iPhone uses iOS 11. Two separate systems tailored to the
devices needs. They both are top of the line operating systems and are the most up to date
systems you can use (Kidman). Both operating systems are fine tuned to the use of the consumer
and are both extremely customizable. The iPhone Has a 2GB RAM and uses the A11 Bionic

cannot afford it. Students who pay for their own tuition might come from a family where saving
money for collegewas not an option. Many families lean towards taking out loans to cover tuition
cost. Taking out a loan can be very complicated with the high interest that is added when paying it
back. At the time parents or students decide to take a loan out, they do not think about how they
will repay the debt. After receiving a degree many people find themselves trapped because finding
a job to pay the loan back can take a while if at all. Another option is for the student to work as
well as being a full time student. Students quickly find that trying to manage time between work
and studying can be difficult. Many students who work and go to school find themselves always
rushing to get things done not giving complete effort. Also, working can have a negative... Show

Growing up, my family was a middle class working household not having enough to save for a
college trust fund for me. I wanted a better future for myself, so I decided to pay for my own
education. In the beginning I could not manage being a full time student and full time employee,
so I failed many of my classes. Eventually, I was forced to decrease my work hours and cut down
on my spending as much as I could. If my tuition was free, I would have more time to study and be
a better student instead of struggling to pay for

Right Stuff Research Papers
I believe the Right Stuff is a mix of courage, perseverance, ingenuity, passion for what is being
done, and resilience. It takes courage to use ingenuity to go against the tide. It takes passion to
use courage to persevere and continue through the toughest of times. And it takes resilience to be
able to take many failures and persevere to eventually succeed. I believe that one of the people we
should nominate for having the Right Stuff is Samuel Pierpont Langley. He had a passion for flight
ever he created the Astrophysical Observatory at the Smithsonian. He began by rigorously studying
birds in flight, just like the Wright Brothers did at about the same time. He had the courage to
accept $50,000 in their... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It might have succeeded in achieving its goal, it still didn t have the right stuff . The prize we
should award is a medal with a bird on it. An essential thing for a plane to fly anywhere except
windy places is a system of flaps (or High Lift Devices). They are a simple version of thrust
vectoring, which basically is how gasses are moved in a certain direction to move something in
a certain direction. As flaps, they move air down and back, providing lift and a small amount of
thrust. Another problem with the Flyer is that only the wings are covered by fabric. The
wooden posts on the outside succumb to vortex shedding. That is when air hits any cylindrical
object and forms vortexes of spinning air behind it. That causes violent, uncontrollable swaying,
which can cause a plane to spiral out of control and become unable to be recovered. The final
flaw was that it had a forward elevator. Had the elevator been positioned at the back, it would be
easier to control and would let the plane climb higher without stalling. This would be of more use
to the military, and might even have saved Selfridge, the highest ranking official with such a great
knowledge of aeronautics at the time, had it been added. That would get them the contract, and all
of their hard work would pay

Women In 1001 Arabian Nights
The Presentation of Women in 1001 Arabian Nights 1001 Arabian Nights, also commonly
referred to as The Arabian Nights, is a collection of tales from the Middle East that were told
orally over the course of many centuries before being recorded. The Arabian Nights contained
stories about many subjects, among them being love, magic, and wealth. One of the most
interesting prospects of the collection is the role that women play in them. In the today s world,
women are portrayed differently all over the globe. In the tales, the presentations of these women
vary greatly. There is a direct link to the ladies in The Arabian Nights and what a culture expects a
womanto be like. Three common characteristics of a woman character in 1001 Arabian Nights are
their deceitfulness, atrocity, and inferiority.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Upon becoming king of a prosperous land, he marries his enchantress cousin, but later finds out
that she does not love him. When he critically injures her favorite slave, she becomes furious
with him and transforms him into marble from the waist down. The Sultan finds him, and, after
listening to his story, the two of them plot revenge on the witch. The next morning, the Sultan
disposes of the slave and disguises himself as him, requesting that the enchantress cease the
abuse she inflicts on her husband. After doing so, she is killed by the Sultan. The moral of this
story is that one should be careful who they place their trust into, as not everyone is who they
say they are. Some themes and elements present in The Young King of the Black Isles are
justice, power, and disloyalty. The young man receives justice and escapes her wrath when the
Sultan helps to free him of his wife by stripping her of her life. The issue of disloyalty in the tale
suggests that Arabians view betrayal as a massive crime, going so far as to threaten death upon
those who commit

A Brief Summary Of Documentar Documentary Films
Smith was able to narrative a story of a filmmaker as he struggled with his addiction of drugs and
alcohol. He also captured how Borchardt s best friend fixed his alcohol addiction by adopting a
new addiction, gambling. His friend wanted to make money so he could help fund the short films
that were in production. The main subjects seemed as they were actors because they were so
different that it felt almost fake. Smith also showed Borchardt s obsession with creating and
finishing a short horror film. Borchardt consistently talked about how badly he needed to finish
Coven throughout the documentary. He does get the video done because he was also obsessed
with finishing his project in order to get money for his next project. He was so obsessed to get
his film done he asked his dying uncle Bill for money continuously. After his uncle passed away
he left him money in his will so Borchardt could finish Northwestern. Borchardt did everything he
could in order to finish the film. Even though it seemed as if he had a drinking problem he was
still able to complete a product he was happy about. Borchardt is still making short films today
including movies like Cabin Fever 2: Spring Fever and Hamlet: A. D. D. but none have been very
successful.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Most of the first one reel films could be considered experimental projects because recording an
event was new. Over the years the filmmaker s intention and approach changed as society and taste
changed. Rachman (1997) has done a great deal of research on obsession and stated that they are
unhealthy. He stated, obsessions are caused by catastrophic misinterpretations of the significance of
one s unwanted intrusive thoughts. By deduction, any increase in such interpretations will produce
or increase the obsessions (Rachman, 1997 p.

African Americans And The Caged Bird
A symbol that Angelou uses is a caged bird and a free bird to represent races. Even though it is
not said in the poem it is quite obvious to the reader that the free bird represents White Americans
and the caged bird represents African Americans. Throughout the poem Angelou carries out the
extended metaphor to express her view on society. The way the free bird claims to own the sky
associates with the ideas of power and choice, this indicates an air of arrogance and selfishness as
the White Americans assume that it is their place to own and dominate the world, despite others
desires and needs. The metaphor sky relates to the society, power, riches, and privileges in the
world. This contrasts with White Americans owning the world as

Exotic Pet Ownership
Humans should be allowed to do anything that they re capable of doing. Therefore, if humans can
tame/control an exotic animal to satisfy our own needs humans should be able to. It s believed that
the ownership of exotic pets should either be banned, or it should have increased license
requirements to own an exotic pet. The main things that should be considered are: what it restricts,
why not to place restrictions, why restrictions are considered. Getting a license is a precaution
placed in order to ensure that the owner is acceptable to take care of an exotic animal. Someone
looking to own an exotic pet should require a license no matter the state. States should also not ban
the ownership of these exotic petsfor that s restrictive on human aspirations. Restricting human
choice shouldn t be acceptable unless a human s choice(s) reduces another s capabilities. Humans
are at a point where nothing is above our species, therefore, if the capabilities of these exotic
animals aren t enough to keep them from us, then humans do whatever they like. Currently, the
issue isn t what it seems. The licences to own exotic pets vary widely in terms of requirements
placed on the owner and the amount of... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As stated in the passage Ban Ownership of Exotic Pets Soon owners find themselves... Unable to
satisfy the needs for space and nutrition . And although it s a very fair point, it really only applies
to the ignorant people looking to own an exotic pet without having the resources to take care of
them. If need be, put an income requirement for people looking to obtain a license to own an
exotic pet, if it s a true desire of theirs to own a pet then they need to use their capabilities to reach
the required income to obtain a license. These pets can be expensive, but they shouldn t be
restricted from us as free willed

Wound Cleaning Research Paper
When the majority of the wound is not covered by necrotic tissue (at least 75%) our treatment
should be focused on selective debridement. With this type of removal we will only be working
with the necrotic tissue. Depending on the physicians order we may use this in our treatment.
Another important aspect is woundcleansing. Every time the dressing is changed they should clean
the wound. We should avoid using hydrogen peroxide, soap, povidone iodine because they could
damage the healing process. The recommended solutions are water (drinkable tap or sterile) and
normal saline. We should also consider using syringe irrigation to apply the solution. Finally,
wound moisture is another important aspect we would need to take into consideration.

Arthur Miller s The Crucible Essay
In Arthur Miller s The Crucible, the normal criteria that a central character fits, is not met by the
apparent protagonist, John Proctor. Common traits one might expect to find in a traditional
hero are humility, patience and caring. John Proctor, while he is the principal, has many
qualities that could instead assume him the role of the antagonist and land him in the adversary
box. His background and slight character flaws cause him to take on the personalities of both a
protagonist and antagonist. Proctor, because he exhibits qualities of both types of characters, is
what is known as a tragic hero. Tragic heroes are characters within stories that due to a judgment
error, is the cause of his/her own demise. In Proctor s case, his error was made when he refuses
to give up the names of other alleged witches, and refuses to allow the court to hang his
confession in the center of town. John Proctor embodies three major signs of tragic heroism.
Proctor, even through the rest of the village perceives him as great, knows deep down inside that
because of past sins, he will never be able to live up to his reputation. As well, John Proctor is a
tragic hero because he had the power to stop his own execution, therefore his downfall was no one
s fault but his own. This reluctance to forfeit the names of other witches could be seen as a
character flaw. The final criteria that Proctor meets for a tragic hero is that the punishment received
is way too severe for the crime committed.

Thirteen By Elie Wiesel Analysis
The Summer of 62 Age thirteen is a special time for boys. Sorry girls, I don t have a clue how it
goes for you. I m not leaving you out, I just don t know and don t feel confident to comment. If
the shoe fits, wear it. The older brothers of my Jewish friends become a bar mitzvah at thirteen.
As I understand it, before thirteen, the kid s parents are responsible for his actions. After
thirteen the boy bears the responsibility for maintaining Jewish ritual law, tradition, and ethics.
He s able to participate in all areas of Jewish community life, too. I don t know for sure,. (add
comma, remove period) but that s the way they explained it to me. so I ll go with it. Having no
such elaborate endorsement, (add comma) it s up to us Gentiles to make it up on our own.
Twelve, thirteen on October first, I can feel something stirring inside I don t understand;
something pushing me out of my comfortable, familiar and safe world. There s a hot little flame
in my brain just itching to get out of my head. I ve got a great idea! In the summer of 1961 our
family leaves the familiar suburbs of Portland, Oregon for the unknown wilds of Eastern Oregon.

The middle part of the inequalities simply says that the ask rate is higher than the bid rate. The
first part of the inequality identifies the lowest bid on the pound, which essentially says, if an
investor wants to sell #8356; for FF, he will not get a better deal by first selling #8356; for at
S$bid/ #8356; and then selling $ for FF at SFF/bid$. He will end up with fewer Francs by going
the roundabout way. In the same way, the last part of the inequality identifies the highest ask rate
on the pound. It means that, if another investor wants to buy #8356; with FF, he will not get a
better deal by first buying $ with FF at SFF/ask$ and then buying #8356; with $ at S$/ask #8356;.
He will end up spending more francs for the same amount of pounds. Therefore, in a well
functioning market, the exchange rate between the franc and the pound should obey the relationship
in the first equation.

  • 2. Writing Style Reflection In my first semester of college at Saint Leo University, seeing that I had to take and academic writing class gave me chills. After taking high school English classes where you are constantly writing for a grade and to please the teacher s idea of what good writing is, I couldn t help being concerned about what a college level writingclass was going to be like. Teachers in high school were constantly trying to tell you how to write their way and perfect what they thought was good writing. Little did I know everyone s writing styleis good in its own way. This academic writing class proved to me that no writing style is right or wrong, but instead all writing styles have their own uniqueness and character to them. After reading the assigned articles and analyzing the writing process and other topics discussed in this class, I now see writing as an extraordinary process that is different for everyone. After writing papers and getting feedback, I saw where my writing lacked solid evidence in my rhetorical analysis paper, and I also found certain ways I can write more efficiently in my process analysis paper. I also learned how discourse communities functioned and how genre is something completely different than what our K 12 teachers have taught me for so long. The goal of this class was to help me; see writing as a process, adapt my ideation, revision and products to improve my writing, and develop my critical reading, writing, and thinking skills. I believe I have achieved ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Megan s Law Case Study Jennifer, I enjoyed reading your post, especially when you mention employers hiring sex offenders taking opposing employment action against that employee based on the sex offender status. Megan s Law is different from state to state. Tennessee Megan s Law says that within 48 hours upon release from prison the offender must register; can one commit a crime within that 48 hour window. (Megan s Law for Tennessee, 2016) Tennessee Megan s Law states if you move into Tennessee from another state and are a registered offender you must register with Tennessee, who notifies Tennessee when an offender relocates here. (Megan s Law for Tennessee, 2016) Offenders want the chance to move back into society, but the Megan s Law needs more classification to make offenders accountable. It seems as if the Fourth... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... A sex offender cannot live or work within 1,000 feet of parks or educational institutions, and state laws say those who committed crimes against minors cannot live with children. (TENN. CODE ANN. В§ 40 39 203, West, 2008) For example, a sex offender in Nashville lived in a duplex next door to his son, daughter in law, and grandchildren. He was kicked out of his house; therefore, he filed a lawsuit regarding his right to live in the duplex and have his own children visit. Nashville Criminal Court Judge Seth Norman ruled in 2013 that the law s ban on residing with a minor did not include the duplex living arrangement nor overnight visits. (Barchenger, 2016) However, the lawsuit challenges the retroactive application of the sex offender registry laws, including those restrictions on contact with children, work, and residency. It argues those restrictions violate the due process clause of the Fourteen Amendment and a constitutional provision known as the ex post facto clause, which says laws cannot retroactively enact punishment for previously legal ... • 4. Managing Strategic Change at the Hmv Group Managing Strategic Change At The HMV Group | 1. IntroductionHMV Group announced a three year strategic and operational review in March 2007. The primary purpose of this dissertation is to analyse the methods used to manage this strategic change and to discuss alternatives. The secondary focus is to assess the decision to change. At a time of change, much focus is placed upon developing strategy and not enough on the implementation and management side. It is possible that a perfect strategy for a situation is wasted by poor implementation. A specific strategy can be developed over night, however; successful strategy implementation is a much longer process. In order to analyse HMV Group s change management efforts, it is crucial to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... ParadoxThere are many paradoxical issues present in change management. Just one manifestation of this would be middle managers withholding information they are given to disseminate because they wish to retain their knowledgeable image; defeating the point of a middle manager. Michael E Raynor (2007) in his book entitled The Strategy Paradox presents the idea that a successful strategy requires the full commitment of the organisation, which leads to unsuccessful performance overall; due to over commitment. Flood and Dresher s (1950) Prisoners Dilemma, applied to the world of business, will also conclude that non competition is the most effective path in the long run. Both imply that strong competition efforts eventually lead to failure that mediocrity is the best route to follow as companies have a silent agreement to operate in a state of equilibrium. However, in the case of HMV Group, its operating industry is in decline; therefore failure is the only eventuality of a failure to compete. ContextAs identified above, much of the literature on the subject of managing strategic change has an element of paradox attached to it. The logical reason for this is that different methods depend on the circumstances the organisation is faced with. As there are no exact laws of change management, this is what makes the subject complex; but more interesting. Most of the literature aims to provide a theory for each and every eventuality; ... • 5. Dehumanizing Death Penalty The death penalty is proven to not deter criminals from committing a crime punishable by death. There are many arguments on whether the death penalty should be legal, but the debate boils down to personal morals. The death penalty is immoral. Criminals will act on their drive, with no thoughts about future consequences. The death penaltynot only hurts the criminal, but it affects the criminal s family. The family already had to experience what it felt like to see a loved one take an innocent person s life. This causes emotional unnecessary emotional distress for the family and those close to the person on death row. Murdering the criminal will only put the family through even more unnecessary trauma. Furthermore, humans are not pets. The human race should not be able to put others down in the sense of death. It is dehumanizing for the person sentenced to death and the executioner. There should not be a job in the United States where, in the job description, it states that you will kill someone.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... If so many people murder, why aren t there more people on death row? Who chooses who gets the death penalty and who does not? To my knowledge, there is not a manual detailing the exceptions of murder to avoid the death penalty. A jury should have to obtain irrefutable evidence of a murder but that usually does not happen. Innocent people can be wrongly convicted and executed. Mental illnesses should be taken into consideration when assigning convicted murderers to death row. A mentally ill person that has committed a crime that has put them in jail should be in a mental psych ward for rehabilitation to help ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Lucretia The Lucretia was painted between 1520 to 1525 by Joos Van Cleve. The painting is an oil painting on a wooden canvas. It can attribute to the High Renaissance art in Italy because it has similar qualities and expressions with other works of art from that time period. The subject of this picture is Lucretia an ancient Roman woman who had a vital role in reshaping the Roman Kingdom into the Roman Republic. In the paintingshe is standing while piercing herself with a knife. She is wearing a red coat with brown fur trimming. It is very lose on her dropping off her shoulders exposing her breasts. She is also wearing two necklaces, a golden ring, and a golden bracelet. One necklace is a golden chain, and the other is a necklace with a pendent. Both of her clothes and jewelry shows that either she was in a wealthy family or had a high social position. Lucretia is also wearing a red bonnet with a white veil that almost looks like smoke. The knife that she is holding between her two hands is cutting through her stomach and going up. Blood can be seen coming out of her wound. Lucretia is clearly commenting suicide and her facial expression is just utter pain. Lucretia s body is only about three quarters shown of her upper body. Her breasts are exposed and how her jewelry is draped on her naked body shows an immediate impression of beauty and luxury of the female figure. Her head is tilted slightly to one side and her hands clenching the knife shows that she might be reflecting on ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

If you missed it back in 2012 then chances are you ll never see it again in your lifetime. In order for the transit to happen, Venus orbit has to align just right so that the planetis positioned exactly between the Earth and the sun. The transit has helped astronomers learn more about Venus atmosphere, the width of the sun, the size of the solar system, and it has helped to figure out exactly how long an astronomical unit (AU) is. Different filters on telescopes were used to capture the different lights emitted from the sun during the Venus transit. A white light telescope filtered only to decrease ... • 8. Defense, Necessity Defense And Affirmative Defense According to the United States constitution every American Citizen is entitled to a trial and an attorney. With the right to a trial and an attorney those accused also have a right to bring up a defense in justifying or excusing their actions. In this essay I will be looking at defenses such as self defense, necessity defense and affirmative defense. This essay will serve as a guide to what these defenses really mean and when it is acceptable to use them. A defense is when a defendant and his or her attorney provide evidence on why they should not be held accountable for the crime they have ben accused. The purpose of a defense is so a person won t be held responsible for the crimes they have committed. There are two kinds of defenses a factual defense and a legal defense. A factual defense is when a defended simply states that they didn t commit the crime, such as providing an alibi. Where as a legal defense a defendant may have committed the crime but should face no legal liability. There are two kinds of legal defense justifications and excuses. An Affirmative defense is when a defendant provides evidence, which can influence the legal responsibility the defendant will be held responsible for, even if the defendant committed the crime in question. An affirmative defense may completely exonerate a defendant but it may also just lower the charges brought against the defended. For example a person who is charged with first degree murder can be found not guilty using ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 9. `` Pied Beauty `` By Gerard Manley Hopkins Throughout recorded history, humans have accredited the happenings of nature to a higher power; shown through religious beliefs past and present. The Greeks believed in a myriad of gods and goddesses, who supposedly governed all aspects of life and nature. They believed in a god or goddess to represent each part of nature from the sun to the sea; there was even a goddess of rainbows. The Grecians used their religion to explain the elements of their world for which they had no other explanation. Christians explain the natural world in a similar fashion. Instead of a god or goddess for each individual piece of nature, they preach that nature was created and is controlled by their God. The belief of divine control is a popular topic in literature; specifically poetry. Pied Beauty written by Gerard Manley Hopkinsin 1877, and Design written by Robert Frost in 1922 are just two examples of many that follow this trend. Gerard Manley Hopkins was a 19th century, English, Victorian poet. He was brought up in a religious and artistic family, leading to his becoming a poet and Jesuit priest (Reid). Alternatively, Robert Frost was a 20th century, modern, American poet. Frost lived and taught in New England; through his poetry he described much of its scenery and landscape (Gerber). Despite the differences in their lives and writing styles, Frost and Hopkins developed poems of similar image and theme. Though Hopkins s Pied Beauty and Frost s Design are of similar theme, their ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 10. Symbolism In A Worn Path A Worn Path by Eudora Welty portrays an elderly, southern, African American woman s endurance through a lengthy journey from her home to Natchez, Mississippi to obtain medicine for her ill grandson. Throughout the journey, the protagonist, Phoenix Jackson, confronts several conflicts. The tale describes the encounters of Phoenix Jackson during her travels using literary devices such as symbolism, conflict, and allusion to detail Jackson s experiences as she overcomes the physical, psychological, and social obstacles she faces that ultimately emphasize her character. The story revolves around the main character, Phoenix Jackson. Jackson, an older woman with numberless of branching wrinkles that form a whole little tree in the middle of her forehead, encounters many setbacks, including poor eyesight, fatigue, multiple falls, thorn bushes, and barbed wire. In Saralyn R. Daly s, A Worn PathRetrod , it is stated that Phoenix encounters not mere difficulty on her path, but evil, (Paragraph 1). Although the obstacles seem as though they will get the best of her, she perseveres through each like the ancient mythical bird, the phoenix. Ancient Greek mythology says the long lived phoenix bird cyclically regenerated from its predecessor s ashes after being engulfed in flames to burn to ash. After every fall, akin to a phoenix dying, she rose again, stronger, persevering as a phoenix does through its death. Phoenix Jackson s journey is only to get medicine for her grandson, ... • 11. Abnormal Psychology Video Analysis This video portrays a young girl playing with a young Belgian Malinois. The video starts with the dog bringing back a large purple ball, the young girl dangles a tug in front of the puppy, and the puppy grabs hold of the tug. The two of them play tug for about 5 seconds, the girl releases the tug, and the puppy is preoccupied with the tug, chewing on it, looking at it, engrossed with the tug. Next, rather quickly, the girlkicks the purple ball, which goes falling off to the right somewhere, and immediately the doggoes after the purple ball even though it looked extremely preoccupied with the tug. The dog runs after the purple ball catching it and immediately returns it to the girl. The girl is standing with the tug and tells the dog to drop... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Essentially, all of the comments are towards the girl and on her brilliance. There are some comments on how cute the dog is, but there are no comments on the behavior and brilliance of the dog. There is the one comment from the owner on the dog s natural apport, which does suggest the owner is recognizing the dog s brilliance. Do I think this is an example of Theory of Mind? Well, in some ways yes since the dog is watching the girl, trying to please her, and play with the toy that the girl wants. To my mind, that takes some higher thinking skills. However, this is could also be training; the dog could have been trained to respond like that, although since it is young, it is probably a more natural response from the dog. Anyhow, the point is we will probably not be able to answer whether this dog has Theory of Mind since essentially the dog cannot talk, and communicate back to us in words. Whereas other species can talk for instance, African Grey parrots can talk, Chimps know sign language and dolphins have a language too. However, even with those animals we do not know if they possess a full Theory of Mind, which would mean identical to a non autistic ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Freud identifies this period as Phallic Stage. My father was not there full time so I was not able to fully grasp his mannerisms and learn manly things. Some say I can be effeminate at times, and my choice of friends causes questions as well. During this stage Freud notes that their sexual identity is formed (McLeod). For most of my adult life my close friends fall into categories that quite often other people do not understand. My close emotional friends are mostly gay males, whereas my sexual partners are females, both bi and straight. My male friends are compassionate, understanding. Since I identify as straight, they are non threatening to my sexual partners and quite often know more straight girls than I do. After a couple years of school, (k 3) we moved 115 miles south to a suburb of San Diego called Poway. • 13. Fallacies According to Owl Purdue, fallacies are normal mistakes in thinking that will undermine the rationale of your contention. Fallacies can be either illegitimate arguments or superfluous focuses, and are frequently recognized on the grounds that they lack evidence to support their case. In a Letter to the Editor titled Gay Marriagein the US , the writer, Dan G, shares his views against the legalization of gay marriage. He discusses how he doesn t want his children exposed to public displays of affection by same sex couples. Oregon gave out 200 marriage licenses to gay couples. He argues that same sex marriagewasn t yet legal and questioned why the county was in such a rush to marry them (G, Dan). He used a false analogy when comparing... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Written by Walter Sosnosky, the writer shares his angry view of how he felt Officer Wilson was found guilty merely because he was a white officer and the victim was a black man. In his letter, he writes, America found Officer Wilson guilty of murdering Mr. Michael Brown based on one fact, that Officer Wilson is white. All that you have done was sent a message to all America and the world that mob justice leaves only death, destruction and more hatred. When are we as a nation going to wake up and face the fact that through unity and respect of the judicial system can we live in trust and peace. I believe that Mr. Sosnosky was making a hasty generalization. A hasty generalization is a contention that assumes all are the same, however, there are excessively few occurrences, making it impossible to backing such a case. The writer suggests that all of America found Officer Wilson guilty. That isn t possible when a jury consists of 12 people and there are over 321 million people in the United States. He also argues that a message was sent to all of America and the world that mob justice leaves only death, annihilation and further hate (Sosnosky). I believe that Mr. Sosnosky has also used two logical fallacies in one statement, a hasty generalization and a slippery slope. He made a hasty generalization when he says that a message was sent to all of America and the whole world. This simply is not possible. I am sure there are many people who are not even familiar with the case, not only in the United States, but throughout the world. In this letter, you will also find he used a slippery slope fallacy, in which Walter Sosnosky states that mob justice leaves only death, annihilation and further hate. The Slippery Slope is a fallacy in which somebody expresses that some event should occur after another with no contention for the inevitability of the occasion being alluded to. • 15. Television Is A Key Component Of Our Daily Lives Introduction A television is a machine with a screen that is capable of displaying images. Televisions receive broadcast signals and turn them into pictures and sound. Although debated, the TV is often credited as being invented by Vladimir Zworykin a Russian born American who worked for Westinghouse, and Philo Taylor Farnsworth, a boy in Beaver City, Utah. Vladimir held the patent for the TV, but it was Farnsworth who was the first person to first successfully transmit a TV signal on September 7, 1927. The television is a key component of our daily lives and is a marvel of engineering and utilisation of technology. Smartly incorporating complex electronic theories and concepts, the televisions has faced many developments and adaptations ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... A pixel is defined in television terms as the smallest area of a television image that can be shown within the parameters of the certain system. This process is accomplished by firstly analysing the image by using a photoelectric device in a series of horizontal scans from the top to the bottom of the image to create an electrical signal in which the colour and brightness values of the individual picture elements are represented as voltage levels of the respective video waveform; secondly, by transmitting the same respective values of the picture elements in a sequence as voltage levels of a video signal; and finally by reproducing the image of the original scene in a video signal display of parallel scanning lines on a viewing screen(Repairfaq.cis.upenn.edu, 2015) (wiseGEEK, 2015). The most primitive form of televisions relied on a cathode ray tube to produce images, and operated with an analog signal(Lapin, 2015). As technology has developed over time and broadcast signals transitioned from analog to digital, LCD (liquid crystal display) and plasma televisions were created. They were formerly categorized as educational kamishibai, but later emphasized more on the promotion of government policies (Horner, 23). Typical themes of kokusaku kamishibai would be promoting thrift during wartime, encouraging people to go to the hospital to visit the wounded soldiers, reminding people to keep healthy so that they could contribute more to the nation, glorifying Japan and its emperor, stressing the honorable legends of the Japanese nation, and instilling the Bushido, or the way of the warriors (Horner, 23) For example, kamishibai Bokura no chikai ( Our Promise ) and O rusuban ( Home Alone ) depict how children should behave when they are left alone by their parents. This provides value to the customer because they know that the product was heavily researched before it was marketed to the general public. However, this is not rare among firms in this industry as all new products must be cleared by the Food and Drug Administration before it can be marketed which gives consumers a certain amount of security when choosing a product regardless of who produced it. Once you get past the start up costs, if you produce a product that is not already patented and is approved by the FDA, your product is just as good as the competitors. • 22. Satan As A Hero In Paradise Lost The true hero of Paradise Lost is Satan because He receives a noble birth, Was a warrior, and travels all around the earth many times. Throughout Paradise lost by John Milton, it states many times with evidence that Satan is truly the hero in the story. The article The idea As Satan As The Hero Of Paradise lostby John Steadman, shows evidence from paradise lost that explains how Satan is viewed as the heroand not the villain. This Paper will show that Evil sometimes prevails and is the hero of it all, and with the evidence given from each paper should be enough to prove this. Although it seems unusual that the king of evil and leader of hellcould ever be a hero, but if looked at carefully, characteristics of an epic hero can be seen. From being tossed out of Heaven, to tricking Eve into eating the apple from the Garden, his journey was definitely epic. Satan s noble birth was definitely unusual and not typical to other epic heroes. The point is that Satan is not your average hero. He is furtive, untrustworthy, and just plane evil. How can someone or something be that evil and still be a hero? It all starts out with his birth, or rebirth so to speak. When God hurld headlong flaming from the erthereal skie (milton 45), and he layed in hell and all he could think of is anger, hate, and evil. God had just picked up Lucifer and threw out of heaven and into hell Because the hero in Paradise Lost was unsuccessful (Steadman 257). This was the end of lucifer, and the beginning of Satan. This Rebirth has given Satan noble because it came directly from the big man, and that certainly makes it very special. Satan s war did not last long, but He was still a warrior. There is nothing about a epic hero saying that you have to be a great warrior and win. Satan was neither of these, and payed the price for it. Being a warrior is a trait of an epic hero and even though satan was not a very good one, he still qualifies. He had challenged God, who then had cast him out from heav n, with all his host of rebel angels, by whose aid aspiring to set himself in glory above his peers (Milton 38). The American Civil War helped to save the nation by rejoining Union Confederate and as result of the Emancipation Proclamation, most African American slaves were declared freed men. However, during the American Reconstruction, the lack of political unity was still very apparent as the South saw Reconstruction as being defeated humiliatingly and thus sought vengeance through the slaves it had lose. Although many slaves did receive their freedom, Reconstruction caused an increase in the white supremacy groups such as the Ku Klux Klan and laws such black codes/ Jim Crow laws / sharecropping, which limited the rights freed slaves had. The main success of the Bureau lies in the establishment of schools. It spent over five million dollars for the creation of schools; by 1870, there were over 1000 schools in the south. It helped to found some historically black colleges and universities such as Howard University. In addition to school, it also helped with the funding of churches. Unfortunately, by 1971, it had lost most of its funding and consequently, its staff members. It failed to carry out any long term protection for freed slaves and did not produce any real measure of equality in the South. One opponent of the Bureau was President Andrew Johnson. He returned confiscated property to white Confederates, pardoned hundreds of former Confederate officers, soldiers and government officials, and tried to limit the amount of land the Bureau could sell by taking the land the Union had confiscated and gave to the Bureau and giving it to previous white landowners. When Congress first passed a bill in February, 1866, to extend the Bureau s existence and to give it new legal powers to sell land, Johnson vetoed the proposed legislation and argued that it interfered with states rights, gave preference to one group of people over another and would be financially stressful on the government because of its extended funding. They can vary in shape, size, color, and brand. Two of the largest brands of smartphone are Samsung and Apple. They make two of the hottest phones on the market right now. Just recently Samsung made the Galaxy S8, and Apple came out with the iPhone8. Both phones are reported to be top of the line. Both being high end devices have many similarities, but they also have differences that set them far apart from each other. Let s start off with one big difference between these two phones, the camera. We re again treated to a solitary 12 megapixel f/1.8 rear snapper... The Galaxy S8 comes with a 12 megapixel Dual Pixelrear camera (Spendelow). The difference between the cameras here is that the Galaxy has a dual camera, whereas the iPhone does not. Higher education may put those attending into future debt that may be difficult to pay back. Many students struggling with affording payments may experience schedule conflicts between work and school. Providing free tuition not only helps the citizens of America to have a better future, but also helps the country. The price to receive a degree can be very expensive for many people who cannot afford it. Students who pay for their own tuition might come from a family where saving money for collegewas not an option. Many families lean towards taking out loans to cover tuition cost. Taking out a loan can be very complicated with the high interest that is added when paying it back. At the time parents or students decide to take a loan out, they do not think about how they will repay the debt. After receiving a degree many people find themselves trapped because finding a job to pay the loan back can take a while if at all. Another option is for the student to work as well as being a full time student. Students quickly find that trying to manage time between work and studying can be difficult. It might have succeeded in achieving its goal, it still didn t have the right stuff . The prize we should award is a medal with a bird on it. An essential thing for a plane to fly anywhere except windy places is a system of flaps (or High Lift Devices). They are a simple version of thrust vectoring, which basically is how gasses are moved in a certain direction to move something in a certain direction. As flaps, they move air down and back, providing lift and a small amount of thrust. Another problem with the Flyer is that only the wings are covered by fabric. The wooden posts on the outside succumb to vortex shedding. That is when air hits any cylindrical object and forms vortexes of spinning air behind it. That causes violent, uncontrollable swaying, which can cause a plane to spiral out of control and become unable to be recovered. The final flaw was that it had a forward elevator. Had the elevator been positioned at the back, it would be easier to control and would let the plane climb higher without stalling. This would be of more use to the military, and might even have saved Selfridge, the highest ranking official with such a great knowledge of aeronautics at the time, had it been added. Even though it is not said in the poem it is quite obvious to the reader that the free bird represents White Americans and the caged bird represents African Americans. Throughout the poem Angelou carries out the extended metaphor to express her view on society. The way the free bird claims to own the sky associates with the ideas of power and choice, this indicates an air of arrogance and selfishness as the White Americans assume that it is their place to own and dominate the world, despite others desires and needs. Therefore, if humans can tame/control an exotic animal to satisfy our own needs humans should be able to. It s believed that the ownership of exotic pets should either be banned, or it should have increased license requirements to own an exotic pet. The main things that should be considered are: what it restricts, why not to place restrictions, why restrictions are considered. Getting a license is a precaution placed in order to ensure that the owner is acceptable to take care of an exotic animal. Someone looking to own an exotic pet should require a license no matter the state. States should also not ban the ownership of these exotic petsfor that s restrictive on human aspirations. • 45. Arthur Miller s The Crucible Essay In Arthur Miller s The Crucible, the normal criteria that a central character fits, is not met by the apparent protagonist, John Proctor. Common traits one might expect to find in a traditional hero are humility, patience and caring. John Proctor, while he is the principal, has many qualities that could instead assume him the role of the antagonist and land him in the adversary box. His background and slight character flaws cause him to take on the personalities of both a protagonist and antagonist. Proctor, because he exhibits qualities of both types of characters, is what is known as a tragic hero. Tragic heroes are characters within stories that due to a judgment error, is the cause of his/her own demise. In Proctor s case, his error was made when he refuses to give up the names of other alleged witches, and refuses to allow the court to hang his confession in the center of town. John Proctor embodies three major signs of tragic heroism. Proctor, even through the rest of the village perceives him as great, knows deep down inside that because of past sins, he will never be able to live up to his reputation. As well, John Proctor is a tragic hero because he had the power to stop his own execution, therefore his downfall was no one s fault but his own. This reluctance to forfeit the names of other witches could be seen as a character flaw. The final criteria that Proctor meets for a tragic hero is that the punishment received is way too severe for the crime committed. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
