My Monitoring Experience During These Classes
Today was a very fun day for me, but there was not a lot of teacher observation to do. This is
because, today Mrs. DeLorenzo was assessing each student individually and asked me to teach,
while she was outside of the classroom assessing one student at a time. During CAMPEL, I also
had to step up and help out the technology teacher as there was a technical problem with all the
computers and she was trying to fix them up, so class could run. Therefore, for the purpose of
this journal, I will list my monitoring experience during these classes. Mrs. DeLorenzo gave me
her Community Booklet and told me that each child had one. She asked me to do two or three
pages with them while she was outside of the classroom. First, I called the attention of the students
and asked them to take out their booklets. Each page had 2 activities, so I gave them instructions in
what to do in the first activity. They started working on it and I walked around the classroom
observing their work and helping when needed. However, all of the sudden I had students walking
around the classroom, students trying to talk to me about their field trip, students telling other
students what to do, some students were talking loudly about things that were not related to the work
, and others were playing around with their material.
I first told them that they had to stay seated. Then that they had to concentrate on their work and
that if they did so, I would give them time to talk to me about other stuff in the

Second Prohibition Research Paper
The Second Prohibition With recent years, excessive controversy has been brought up around
marijuana. The birth of this comes from more states pushing for legalization. Marijuana, as a part of
American history, is now being compared to another huge substance that has associated itself with
American history: alcohol. These comparisons are coming from anti legalization supporters and
should not be happening at all. Alcohol is not as regulated and educated than marijuana, even
though pot has additional benefits, identical side effects, and a similar history to alcohol.

alcoholics, Alcohol in moderation can help decrease the chances of cardiovascular ... Show more

Pot related crime has stayed the same. Yet they do not dig into these half baked laws. It is illegal
to grow and transport marijuana while legal to sell in coffee shops. So while busting people for
selling the drug has significantly decreased more farms are being hunted down and related crime
has essentially not changed. Similar to Prohibition, marijuana would be used and abused
considerably less in america with legalization. Related crime would no longer be significant and
police can focus more time, energy, and money on robberies, murders, and other drugs that actually
kill. The definition of a scedule one drug, the worse kind after two, three, and four respectively, in
the United States is any substance with a high potential for abuse, no currently accepted medical
treatment, and lack of accepted safety under medical supervision. Marijuana is still one of

Their relationship was based on an informal arrangement of mutual trust and commitment. In
addition, Riyaz could not take any action against his technical manager who had helped Ali,
because he could not find any concrete evidence to prove the manager s involvement.
Sri Lankan Agent
Sri Lankan Agent Dhillon, a trader from Sri Lanka, met Riyaz at Pack Tech s stand at a packaging
exhibition in Dubai in 2001. Dhillon showed interest in promoting Pack Tech s products in the Sri
Lankan market. Since the Sri Lankan market was new to Riyaz, he agreed to cooperate with
Dhillon and offered the best price and direct service to his customers without any credit facility.
Until 2003, Dhillon bought an average of US$20,000 worth of material every month through letters
of credit (L/C) and sold it in the Sri Lankan market.
In 2008, the business grew further, reaching an average of US$100,000 per month, and there were
few incidents of payment delays on Dhillon s part. As a result, the total outstanding was
US$250,000, apart from orders executed against L/C. Upon realizing this, Riyaz interfered in the

The general right of a child is the UN convention on the rights of the child 1989. The articles of
convention can be broken down into four broad areas them being survival rights which covers a
child s right to life and basic needs such as nutrition, shelter, access to medical services and an
adequate living standard . Developmental rights include the right to education, play, leisure, access
to information, freedom of thought, conscience and religion. Childcare practitioners have a duty
and responsibility to ensure developmentally appropriate routines and activities for each and every
child which does not discriminate against the child on any grounds. Protection rights require that
children be safeguarded against all forms of abuse, neglect and exploitation. Issues covered are
care and rehabilitataion for children who have been abused and/or exploited including special care
for refugee children, safeguards for children in the criminal justice system and protection for
children in employment. Participation rights emphasises child s freedom to say and express
opinions in matters affecting their lives. Adults have a responsibility to allow children to control
choices in their lives and acknowledge and act on the feelings and opinions expressed. This
information about the UN convention on the rights of the child 1989 was cited from Donohoe amp;
Gaynor (2007). Effective communication with children is important to get a child to trust you and
want to communicate with you.

The Social Significance And The Effect Of Malls
When hearing the word mall the most common examples that will come to people s mind are
York dale, Scarborough Town Center or Vaughan Mills. They picture these huge supercenters
mini well known stores such as Garage, Le Chateau, H M, Best Buy even Wal Mart, etc. These
places will be filled with large amounts of people shopping. Food courts with a huge line up and
a mini kiosks asking people if you want to try a free sample. The way people view malls are
different depending on their point of view. I hope by the end of this report to show the social
significance and the effect the malls has on us. Describing the Object: Malls can vary from
small regional malls (they contain a cluster of retail stores) and to megamalls offering a
combination of shopping and carnival like diversions to the festival malls specializing in
recreational shopping to the intensely fortified ghetto malls observed by Mike Davis and even
too neighborhood malls (the purpose to is to serve consumers within a radius of two miles)
(source 2). According to BLANK 2 all malls would love to think that they are distinct and can
offer something new to consumers yet they all tend to share common features in terms of
aesthetics, architecture, and design. BLANK 2 states the reason for this is that a high percentage
of malls are planned and built by a few transnational architectural and design firms (source 2). HE
/SHE 2 refers to this as the appropriation of local symbols within the space of the mall since

Genghis Khan s Impact On Modern Civilizations
Many of the great ancient rulers of the world are remembered for being strong warriors and military
leaders. They had a profound influence in their era and on the evolution of modern times. With their
many accomplishments and dedication towards their empires, the great rulers flourished with new
ideas and fought with no mercy to expand their empires. From the strong military forces to the
wealth made from trade, the great rulers of the past changed the lives of the people in their empire.
Although the leaders were often tough and ruthless, they made important contributions in the
ancient world and helped shape modern civilizations. One of the greatest rulers, Genghis Khan, had
a dramatic impact on history due to his brutal leadership and military tactics. He was a vicious
ruler who successfully conquered and expanded his empire. Genghis Khan was a warrior and ruler
of genius who, starting from obscure and insignificant beginnings, brought all the nomadic tribes of
Mongoliaunder the rule of himself and his family in a rigidly disciplined military state (Bawden,
2017). Genghis Khan s military armies swept through most of Asia s powerful civilizations leading
to the spread of Mongolian teachings. He brutally conquered areas by killing any opposing
civilizations. However, he forced no religion on the conquered, which allowed the spread of new
religions across the continent. With these new religions, new ways of thinking, learning, and
teaching developed. Once Genghis Khan

Statement of Purpose to Attend University of Northern...
The University of Northern Colorado (UNC) and Mesa State University (MSU) are both some of
the biggest and best colleges in Colorado. They both give students that attend many opportunities to
succeed. They also have in state tuition which makes them cheaper than most colleges. These
colleges stood out to me because of how well they fit my needs of having a short distance college
with exceptional. UNC and MSU are both close to home. They possess the educational programs
I desire along with respectable baseball programs. When it comes to differences, living
accommodations would be quite different between UNC and MSU. Following those lines, the
graduation rates are also significantly different between the two. Even though MSU is a credible
college, the graduation rate and distance from home could cause problems during daily life. For
those reasons, UNC would make a better fit for me.
When choosing which college to attend, living accommodations are a big thing to consider. If I
were to go to MSU, I would have to live in a dorm. This could be a potential problem if I am
paired up with a roommate that I end up not liking or one that doesn t like me. It would cause
tension to build between us and ultimately one of us having a miserable life in college. There
could be also be a problem with one of us bringing other people into the dorm at bad times. One of
us could be trying to do homework and study but then the other might want to hang out with
someone and party. That doesn t mesh

How Does Temperature Affect The Rate Of Maggot Movement
The Effect Of Temperature On The Rate Of Maggot Movement. Environmental Systems and
Societies Planning Lab Gaurav Iyer
Research Question
To what extent does temperature affect the movement of Maggots?
Introduction
This Experiment aims to analyze the behaviour of the maggots in a particular temperature.
Behaviour of the maggots is defined as the way they respond to their surrounding and environment.
Maggots are organisms which react by quickly and a series of varied reflex reactions are shown and
adapted. These kinds of actions are very important for keeping itself in a particular environment to
live. Therefore, it would be expected that all maggots react in the same way to show a particular
behavioural trend. Temperature is an environmental factor that will affect the maggot s behaviour.
The temperature in the environment helps the maggots determine their rate of metabolism and its
internal temperature. These organisms move according to the environmental temperature. A trend
can be found to show the effect of temperature on the rate of movement of maggots.
Hypothesis ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
At higher temperatures, chemical reactions such as metabolism happen more faster because of the
increase in kinetic energy of the particles. As metabolism supplies the organism with energy, there
will be more energy produced at high temperatures. Thus, at higher temperatures the maggots will
move more quickly as their pacy rate of metabolism gives them energy to do so. Also, if the
temperature is too high for the maggots, there will be a decrease in the metabolic speed because of
killing of enzymes which will cause the maggots to move

Sallie House In The Exorcist And The Amityville Horror
Due to the level of unexplained defiances, the majority of the neighbors on 2nd Street in
Atchison, Kansas have concluded that the possible reasons for the quick evacuations in one
otherwise quaint home is that the plumbing is bad, the electric bills are really high or that it is so
haunted that nobody can get a moment of peace so that they can figure out what is really going
on so they just give up and leave. The events in the home are a justifiable mystery and professional
ghost hunters along with psychic investigators claim that the events that took place in the Exorcist

Public Health Authorities Need to Conduct Public Health...
Module 1 Assignment
Please answer below two questions, using an essay format.
Question 1 Using HIV/AIDS as an example to discuss why public health authorities need to
conduct public health surveillance and to describe how surveillance system is managed in
Australia (9 marks) (Up to 800 words)
Public health surveillance is defined as the ongoing systematic collection, collation, analysis and
interpretation of outcome specific data for public health purposes, closely integrated with the timely
dissemination of public health information for assessment and public health response for
preventing and controlling disease as necessary (Thacker Stroup; Thacker et al.1994; World Health
Assembly, 2005). The surveillance method used for Acquired Immunodeficiency Syndrome (AIDS)
and human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) infections in Australia is similar to these methods used
for other diseases, aiming at reducing high risk behaviors, lowering the incidence of transmission
and infection.
Firstly, the surveillance system for HIV/AIDS draws a unique epidemiological picture of magnitude
and trends in the prevalence of infection, resource allocation, targeted groups and risk behavior over
time. It describes the pattern of transmission of HIV/AIDS, viral hepatitis, and other specific
sexually transmissible infections. Secondly, It monitors an information cycle for collection and
exchange between different public health institutions between clinical and laboratory facilities,

The Legal Relationship Between Company And Its Members Essay
Corporation origin from the Latin word Corpus which means body. It is formed by a group of
people and has separate rights and liability from those individual. In any means, corporation exists
independently from its owner and this principle is called the doctrine of separate personality.
Doctrine of separate personality is the basic and fundamental principle in a Company Law. This
principle outline the legal relationship between company and its members. Company s assets
belong to the company not the shareholders as assets are the equity for creditors. Company must
use up all its assets to pay off the creditors if it became insolvent. The same applies to the
corporations debts. For limited liabilities company, the shareholder liability is limited which
means that the shareholder is restricted to the number of shares they paid and not personally
liable for the corporation s debts. If the company does not have enough equity to pay off debts,
the creditors cannot come after the shareholders. However, limited liability company can be very
powerful when in hands who do fraud and on defeating creditors claims. Courts then can ignore
the doctrine for exception cases and lifting the corporate veil. Lifting the corporate veil is a
situation where courts put aside limited liability and hold a corporation s shareholders or directors
personally liable for the corporation s debts.
The leading case for this doctrine is between Salomon v A Salomon Co in 1897. Salomon was a sole

Parents Involvement In Music Education Essay
Parental involvement is a key factor in music education. An analysis showed that Students whose
parents were involved in music and supportive of their children s musical participation developed
better self concepts in music and felt more comfortable academically and socially(Sichivista).
Without the parents involvement, an ensemble would not be able to live to the full potential that it
can. The parents are also what helps the students become greater musicians with their help and
motivation. Unfortunately dealing with parents does not always go as easy as we want them to.
Some parents are willing to step in but they do not know where to start. They are completely lost,
they do not know here to start. Parents willing to support their child s musical learning often do not
know how to help the child learning often do not know how to help the child overcome difficulties
and obstacles during the early stages of the learning(Margiotta). Also, stepping in too much can be a

will help them grow as a musician. It is not an easy job to get the parents involved but there are
ways to get their attention. Mrs. Joubert my Conservaroty Orchestra conductor and private

Market Segments Based On Region For Cowsmoo Milk Bar Essay
There are three possible market segments based on region for Cowsmoo Milk Bar. The first
segment consists of those residing in rural areas. This market segment would not be ideal for
our organization. Rural regions have a low population, and the majority of people who live in
rural areas are more likely to be indifferent about the benefits that our company offers. This
indifference may be caused from their isolated, secluded location, and their lack of a pressing
need to keep up with a modern lifestyle. Therefore we feel that rural locations wouldn t result in
as much business for our establishment as other possible locations. Another regional market
segment to consider is suburban areas. On one hand, suburban locations would be feasible for our
business because customers in these locations are mostly families. Young families will benefit
from our product because it presents them with a healthier alternative to taking their kids out for
traditional ice cream. On the other hand, suburban locations wouldn t benefit Cowsmoo Milk Bar
as much as our next option because our goal is to get people in and out quickly so we can sell a
large volume of products. That suburban locations are not heavily populated will make this
company goal more difficult to reach. Lastly, there are urban locations. Urban locations are the best
market segment for our organization because they contain many people who keep up with trends
and are health conscious. Choosing our location came down to two

Essay about Health Benefits of the South Beach Diet
Health Benefits of the South Beach Diet
By promoting only healthy foods and in limited amounts, the South Beach diet proves to be an
effective and safe path to weight loss. South Beach permits foods which are high in fiber and low
in saturated fat such as whole grain rice, salmon and nuts. The diet does not exclude any particular
class of food, fats or carbohydrates for example, but insists that foods high in cholesterol, such as
bacon, be avoided. Yet, this is not the only restriction of the diet. South Beach also limits the
amount of food consumed each day to 1,500 calories. Based on an average daily intake of 2,000
calories, South Beach ensures weight loss by simply decreasing the overall amount of food ( 2,000
Calories a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These limitations support health, not specifically the shedding of pounds. Dr. Agatston, the diet s
founder, states the purpose of the diet is to lower his patients risk of heart attack and stroke not to
help them look better in their bikinis ( South Beach Diet ). The foundation of this diet is clearly
health. South Beach recommended foods can therefore keep a body healthy, but not necessarily thin.
Nonetheless, a body low in fat is an essential part of health, especially that of the heart. People
who are overweight often find themselves facing problems of heart attacks and heart disease.
When excessive body fat is stored, arteries get clogged and a strain is put on the heart. In having
a slimmer body, arteries are freer to allow blood flow and heart problems are less likely to occur.
Even though Dr. Agatston did not devise the diet in hopes of creating a system for weight loss, a
body with little excess fat can help achieve his overall goal of helping people maintain a healthier
heart.
The actual weight loss from the South Beach diet is achieved by its calorie limitations, which in
turn also assist in maintaining health. South Beach does not allow the dieter to exceed 1,500
calories a day. Nutritionists suggest that a 2,000 calorie a day diet will maintain a person s current
weight; therefore it is only logical that reducing that amount of calories will result in loss of weight.

The Adoption Of Electronic Health Records
According to a survey from SK A, after an initial migration to health IT solutions, practice
owners adoption of electronic health records (EHR) has plateaued with only about a 2.8%
increase from January 2014 to January 2015. The survey found that overall adoption by
physicians is 62.8%, and that, in general, the larger the practice, the (not surprisingly) higher the
adoption rates, with 77.2% of docs at medical groups of 25 or more members using EHRs this is
compared to only 54.5% of solo practitioners adopting the technology. Why the Drop in Adoption
Rates? Other survey findings clearly illustrate the fact that while EHRs do come with benefits,
most are not embraced by physicians because of their lack of functionality and difficulty of use.
According to this survey , overall provider satisfaction with EHRs has declined by almost 30%
over the past five years. Conducted by the American Medical Association and American EHR
Partners, the survey questioned 940 practice owners about their level of satisfaction with their
EHR. What was interesting right off the bat about these findings was that only 34% of
physicians said they were satisfied or very satisfied with their EHR systems compared to 61% of
respondents who were satisfied only five years ago. The survey also found: 42% of physicians
described their EHR s ability to improve efficiency as difficult or very difficult. 43% said they
were consistently challenged with their EHR s ability to address productivity.

The Importance Of European Imperialism In The Congo
Between the years 1884 1912, European powers were in competition to acquire African colonies.
This was the emergence of the new age of imperialism and what historians refer to as the scramble
for Africa. By the end of the 19th century, all of Africa with the exception of Liberia and Ethiopia
was divided amongst European powers. During that time, the Belgiumgovernment had no interest
in imperializing Africa except for their King, Leopold II. Due to lack of support from the Belgium
government, King Leopold independently gained private possession of the Congo. While King
Leopold embodied the ideas of imperialism, he did not effectively demonstrate the civilized
mission, but instead exploited workers in desperation to acquire imperial power. The atrocities
committed under his rule went unacknowledged for decades until the publication of reports
exposed the atrocities in the Congo. The widespread exposure King Leopold was a catalyst in his
removal. King Leopold claimed his interest in the Congo was motivated by the desire to extend
the benefits of European civilization to Africa. This ideology is referred to as the civilizing
mission the belief that it is Europeans duty and responsibility to bring forth civilization to non
European nations. Leopold hoped to achieve this by establishing trade relations for which the
people of Belgium and the Congo could benefit. The civilized mission was justification for
European imperialism, and for this reason, he received support from

AMERICA AT D DAY: A DAY OF REMEMBRANCE

The Americans were also going to drop their paratroopers behind the
German front lines on the Cherbourg Peninsula.
The American paratroopers were from the 82nd Airborne Division and from the 101st Airborne
Division. The paratroopers were to cut off any supply line to the front lines and prevent any
reinforcements from reaching the beaches of Normandy. The order was given on the night of June
5, 1944 to launch the paratroopers. The paratroopers were sent in first so that they could drop
under the cover of the night. The paratroopers were plagued with cloudy skies and some anti
aircraft fire. Some of the paratroopers were shot down while they dropped from the skies. Most of
the paratroopers that did survive the jump missed their intended drop zones. During the first hours
of the assault their was confusion among the soldiers, but then the troops started to form up into
small bands together and started to complete their missions.
The paratroopers mission was for the most part a success. They gained considerable ground and
destroyed vital supply lines for the Germans.
However, the assault on the beaches were plagued by a lot more problems. The major problem
was the choppy seas and the strong current. It made many of the allied forces land off of target.
Even though they landed off course they were still able come together. The Germans also put many
obstacles in the way of the landing crafts.

Comparison Of Chicago, New York City And Detroit
Chicago, New York City, and Detroit
Today, Detroit, New York City and Chicago have many similarities They re highly populated cities
with high crime rates, many homeless people, noisy streets and terrible traffic. In contrast, they
attract many tourists with their tall skyscrapers, and their famous attractions. As well as
similarities, there s also, many differences. Today, Chicagoand New York Cityare known for
having many job opportunities and luring people in with promising careers. Whereas in Detroit, it s
known to be quite hard to find employment. These cities have gone on a long journey to get to
where they re at today. I ll be discussing Detroit s history from around 1880 to 1910 and comparing
it to the way Chicago and New York City was in the book, Sister Carrie written by Theodore
Dreiser.
From 1880 to 1910 Detroit changed dramatically. The city was under development and was on its
way to becoming a successful, and higher populated, city. According to Detroit Historical Society,
in 1880 Detroit s population consisted of over 100,000 citizens. At this time, Detroit also had a
diverse community of many different nationalities and it was known as an immigrant city.
Detroit Historical Society also states that by 1890, Detroit s population nearly doubled reaching
over 200,000. Detroit, at this time, made its ranking in the 15th largest populated city in the nation.
Many people of different backgrounds from around the world came to settle here. By 1901,

America Before Columbus Response
I have never heard of Cahokia before reading this article. What surprised me the most was how
many people lived there. I recall being taught there were only a few Native American tribes in
America before it was settled by Europeans, but the opposite is true.
One misconception that the Europeans had about North America was that the land had never truly
been used. They believed the land had never been used for crops or homesteading, as evidenced by
Alexis de Tocqueville. North America was inhabited only by wandering tribes who had no thought
of profiting by the natural riches of the soil. In fact, it is quite the opposite. Many tribes utilized the
fertile land, employing

How Healthy Are The Youth Of Today s Population
How healthy are the youth of today s population? With the rise in childhood obesity, the lack of
prenatal care for expecting mothers, and lack of coverage for many Americans there is a need to
evaluate the health of our youth and the availability of services and education. The current youth
are the future workforce of the nation. Lessening the risk of chronic illness, obesity, and stabilizing
environmental conditions will allow the upcoming generation to help build a stronger economy. A
stronger workforce, a healthier society with less medical cost strain, and a healthier environment
are all gains to be had through improvements and healtheducation. Community outreach programs,
healthy lifestyles, and ensuring vaccine availability for all children are a few simple steps to
developing healthy generation. Per Maya Rossin Slater in her article Promoting Health in Early
Childhood, Children who are healthy early in life from conception to age five not only grow up to
be healthier adults, they are also better educated, earn more, and contribute more to the economy . It
is no secret that the current healthcare system in the United Stateslags in comparison to other
countries. America has the most expensive system and still the sickest population. We allocate
trillions of dollars to the health care services and only a fraction to population wide services. Just
as there is not an even distribution of funds in healthcare allocation, the same goes for childhood
health. There are

General Theory Of Crime And Delinquency
General Theory of Crime and Delinquency Many theories exist including biological,
psychological, and sociological theories that have been proposed by many criminologists in the
criminal justice field and have been closely studied by people (Agnew, Cullen, Wilcox, 2004).
Most theories are proposed at the micro level meaning it tries to explain the criminal behavior of
individuals and some are proposed at the macro level which tries to explain the crimerates in social
groups, meaning micro focuses on individuals and macro focuses on groups (Agnew et al., 2004).
When something gets integrated it means something is being mixed together and may form one
idea when those items get put together. Messner heavily discusses integrated theories which he
describes as being theories that are integrated or mixed to formulate relationships that list different
variables from different theories (Krohn, Liska, Messner, 1989). The integrated theory seeks to
describe the relationships between different theories and integrating them into one by gathering all
the facts and information from several theories with different strategies being used to integrate
theories. (Krohn et al., 1989).
General theory of crime and delinquency focuses on how certain risk factors have an effect on
crime, answers why criminals offend, describes how crime occurs when constraints are low and
when motivation from crime is high and how certain life domains have reciprocal effects. One of
the most leading

The Philosophy Of St. Thomas Aquinas
St. Thomas Aquinas was an influential philosopher who strongly incorporated faith into his
philosophy. In his Summa Theologiae, Aquinas uses his own arguments along with those of both
Aristotle and Plato to strengthen his claims. First and foremost, Aquinas uses his own philosophy
to back the Christian faith and the existence of God. However, Aquinas also extends his argument
past the initial claim of God and Christianity, and it is here where he uses these other influential
philosophers to help support his claims and arguments. Right away in Basic Works, Aquinas jumps
straight to the biggest issue regarding religion does God exist? Immediately in his philosophical
argumentation he focuses on his faith. Regarding this question, Aquinas first explains the notion
God being self evident. Aquinas divides propositions into two categories being propositions that
are self evident in themselves but which are not known to us because we do not know what the
terms of the proposition really mean, and propositions which are self evident in themselves and
known to us because we do. Aquinas goes on to explain that the proposition that God exists is self
evident in itself because the predicate is identical with the subject and that since we don t know
what God is, the proposition is not self evident to us but rather must be demonstrated to us though
what is more evident to us (Question 2, Article 1). Aquinas goes on to explain that there are two
types of demonstrations with one

Aaron Copland s The Four Seasons
On Saturday, February 10th, 2018, the Roanoke Symphony Orchestra performed at the Jefferson
Center in Roanoke, Virginia. The program included Aaron Copland s masterpiece, Appalachian
Spring as well as The Four Seasons, written by Antonio Vivaldi. Prior to the concert at 7:30pm,
Maestro David Stewart Wiley invited members of the community to attend an educational
discussion about the program repertoire. He explained the emotional authority Copland is able to
capture through his work, Appalachian Spring. The beautiful ballet was composed for Martha
Graham, one of the principal modern American dancers of the twentieth century. The piece was
based upon the life of a pioneer in the springtime at his new cottage in Pennsylvania. The music
expresses the journey and emotions of the pioneer and his new wife. During the first half,

Remedial Costs Are Too High For Csu At Bear
San Jose Mercury News Editorial, authors of Remedial costs are too high for CSU to bear
highlight the San Jose State University policy that took place in 2009. The policy is about
Freshmen students who are required to take remedial classes since their math or English basic
college level aren t good enough. To notice these students that need help ahead of time CSU
created the Early Assessment Program . Even though CSU created the voluntary Early
Assessment Program, which has an essay and two dozen questions that are included in
standardized tests given to juniors, many students didn t pass it. Those students who don t take
the Early Assessment Program or aren t qualified will have to take online tutorials and remedial
classes which take a year to study. Sadly, there ll be no repeat chances for those students who don

basic knowledge they should have received in high school, as the authors said. The author assume
that it s both students and their high school s responsibility for college readiness, and I strongly
agree with the authors aurgement. College readiness shouldn t be CSU. However, College
readiness is high schools obligation , and students duty as well.

The Metropolitan Museum of Art has one of the finest Asian art collections that has enlightened
and strengthened my understanding in my personal art experience. The Museum itself is an
artistic architectural structure that graces the entire block on 82nd Street in Manhattan. Entering

from each other. It is a past, where I still find their works of yesteryears vividly within my grasp, to
be remembered and shared as if their reflections of works were cast for the modern devoted learner.

As I left, I felt a sense of piety, a piety that I must visit again and again. The Hall of Buddhas gave
me a sense of peace: a thought of quietness to gather myself, a peace that I have long forgotten or
not shared.
The next corridor was an exhibit of ceramics of everyday life in the Neolithic period of the
Majlayao culture (Machong phase, CA 2300 2000BC Metropolitan Museum plaque). The
pottery of this period expresses similarities in the color and shapes to the art found amongst the
indigenous cultures elsewhere in the world. On the side was another room with two guardian
lions (6th dynasty 220 589). Lion statues were status symbols for great dwellings that were
placed outside of main entranceways to promote good and to stop evil from entering in (Feng
Shui, Lam 38). In the room at the Museum they guard lacquer images and woodcarvings of
Buddhas. Buddha images executed in dry lacquer were highly valued by the Chinese because of
the costly time consuming process required to produce them (Metropolitan Museum wall plaque).
Possibly the lions do serve a purpose here: to prevent any evil beings from entering a room filled
with prized lacquer Buddhas.
The Han dynasty (25 220 CE) exhibit outside in the corridor demonstrated remarkable uniformity.
Common pottery such as models of houses and farm structures, were created as funerary objects
for burials. The Han period has deeply shaped and cast its roots in contemporary burial rituals.

My Life Of My Mother
Literacy has always been close to my identity as a person. My mother wanted the best for her
children, and therefore would sing and read to us as soon as we were born. She encouraged out
love of words and books by taking us to the library for reading time and always seemed to find
the most amazing books for us to explore. My mother is very musically gifted, so songs were
part of our daily routine. There are still little songs that pop into my head about daily tasks that
she created to help us learn and make work and learning fun. When I grew a bit older, around the
age of four, my mother formed a group with other women in our neighborhood to form a
preschool. They used the Joy School curriculum and took turns having all of us over to their homes
so that we could learn and play together. I remember there was lots of music, readingmany books,
playing all sorts of games, and a yearly Christmas program. Around this time, I began to learn
about phonics and loved figuring out which letters made which sounds. My mother tells me that
I liked to rhyme a lot as a little child because I found it fun. She said she thinks this is when my
love of poetry started to develop. As I transitioned into early elementary school, I was well
prepared to enter Kindergarten. Because I have always been pretty independent and self driven, my
mother did not really have to push me to read. I started reading the summer before Kindergarten

Jurassic Park Research Papers
Jurassic Park is a movie based on the novel Jurassic Park by Michael Crichton. The movie of
course, like all films based off of books, is slightly different from the original novel. Yet, this title
shares a similar theme with its original piece of work. The recreation of dinosaurs. Sadly the
Jurassic Parkversion of dinosaurrecreation will only make it harder to bring these extinct animals
back to life. Our real life scientists may be able to somewhat recreate dinosaurs through Artificial
Embryo Twinning or Somatic Cell Nuclear transfer. We have successfully cloned 20+ animals or

Through this technique the scientist would have to grind up the Dinosaurs bones to extract
blood cells and proteins (Cloning and Dr. Loy). The only negative point in this form of
recreation or cloning is that it is ...used only as a backup to the cloning that produces a full
strand of DNA... . Another way would be like the InGen scientist using Somatic Cell Nuclear
Transfer. The only precaution would be to ensure that the blood or cells being extracted are
actually from dinosaurs which at this point is extremely difficult. Somatic Cell Nuclear Transfer
is when and ovum is created with a donor nucleus. First, the nucleus (containing the DNA) is
removed and the rest of the cell is thrown out while the nucleus of an egg cell is also removed.
Next, the nucleus of the somatic cell is inserted into the egg cells nucleus place. After the insertion,
the host cell reprograms the somatic cell nucleus. The egg will begin to divide. Lastly, after many
mitotic divisions the single cell can form a blastocyst with closely identical DNA to the original
organism (SCNT).
Our efforts on recreating animals have been successful to an extent. Dolly the Sheep is a perfect
example of recreation (Roslin Institute, Scotland). Also animals such as the Bucardo (Bringing
them back to life) , Carp, Cumulina the mouse etc. (20 animals...). The Bucardo was successfully

The Social World
Sexualisation of the social world has become a very prominent social issue since the early 90 s. It
has affected many influential individuals in devastating ways such as that of eating disorders, body
image issues and mental illnesses. This essay will explore sociological explanations to understand
and draw conclusions on why the sexualisation of culturehas and continues to occur today. I will
explore feminismand how it has influenced sexualisation of culture today and how pornographyhas
influenced todays pornification problems.
One sociological explanation for this is that of a multitude of factors related to that of feminism.
In the mid 1970s child abuse was brought to public eye by a group of second wave feminists also

This is the most significant of the factors that laid the ground for shift of sexualisation to become a
recognised social issue from its former clinical term (Fredrickson 1992).
However, positioning the innocence of a child to symbolise femininity began to counter benefit
the movement by setting the tone for the return of traditional family values. For example, the
innocent girl was remobilized to attack the legalization of child abortion, a goal that feminists had
achieved years earlier. This debacle however did provide the ideal social conditions for today s
sexualisation problem to be identified as in 1981 journalists were beginning to investigate the
sudden sexualisation of young females. Sexualisation being used to describe mal socialization
which in fact separates children from their natural essence causing premature entry in adult forms
of sexual subjectivity. For example, that of play makeup for girls (Schiro 1981).
Another sociological explanation that is provided for the pornification of media today is that of
the evolution of porn. Pornographic content has always been in existence with our culture with
prehistoric rock art dated before civilisation depicting sexual acts. This can also be seen in art
work during the Victorian era such as that of the painting by Г‰douard Manet titled Olympia

Olfaction Use in Avian Species Essay
Olfaction use in avian species
Odors are broadly used for individual, sexual and species recognition in vertebrates and may be
reliable signals of quality and compatibility when selecting mates. Yet, chemical signals in birds
have rarely been investigated. In fact, birds exhibit a wide array of communication mechanisms,
such as colors and songs, but rarely display obvious olfactory driven behaviors. This discrepancy
seen in the amount of information regarding olfactory use is due to the belief that birds do not
have a well developed olfactory system compared to other animals. Because they do not have a
well developed olfactory system, other perceptual cues, such as sight and audition, are seen as
better predictors of behavior. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Additionally, as they approach their nests, burrow nesters avoid making calls or songs; they do
not to bring attention to themselves so predators do not locate their nests. Having to locate their
nests in the dark, burrow nesters cannot efficiently use visual cues to locate their nests. Moreover,
because they avoid making calls and songs, they are unable to use auditory based cues to locate
their nests either. In these cases, other forms of communication is needed. Mardon and Bonadonna
(2009) assert that olfactory cues are a reliable method of locating their nests in the absence of
visual and auditory cues. Specifically, the characteristic smell of the burrow will help them locate it
when returning. To test this hypothesis, Mardon and Bonadonna (2009) used a Y maze experiment
to identify the olfactory preferences of petrels, birds known to use burrow nests. In Y maze
experiments, one specific odor is placed at each end of the top side, and the bird is placed at the
bottom side. The bird is believed to move toward the end that it prefers. In their experiment using
storm petrels, recognized and prefered their own scent compared to conspecifics. Further
investigation with petrels found that when placed in the Y maze they prefer the scent of their mate
to the odor of another conspecific (Mardon Bonadonna, 2009). Their studies show that a personal

Key Organizational Principles Of Law Enforcement
Some of the key organizational principles that are used to help guide the structure of law
enforcement organizations include chain of command, unity of command, span of control, and
grouping like functions (Cordner, 2016). The following is a brief summary of each and their
importance.
CHAIN OF COMMAND
Chain of command is simply a prescribed way for every member of a police department to
communicate within the different levels of management (Cordner, 2016). Having a chain of
command that clearly dictates the different levels of authority will ensure the organizations
communication and decisions are efficient (Cordner, 2016). The Chief of Police would be at the

Suspense In The Tell-Tale Heart And The Monkey s Paw
Two feet from the door, the dog froze, stopping mid step. With these words the reader begins to
get a feeling in his gut that something ominous is happening. This is one of the many ways that
an author can cause suspense in a story. In the stories Tell Tale Heart by Edgar Allen Poe and The
Monkey s Paw by William Wymark Jacobs, suspense is created through cause and effect
relationships where details such as repetition, unclear explanations, twisted dialogue, and dark
undertones cause the reader to feel suspense.
With The Monkey s Paw by William Wymark Jacobs, the cause and effect relationships are

The Tell Tale Hearttells the story through the words of the madman, who killed a man to rid
himself of his eyes. After completing the deed, the madman confessed to the police who came to

suspense in The Tell Tale Heart is created through repetition and twisted dialogue, where the
narrator repeats phrases to warn the reader of a decision or event before it happens, and poorly
disguises intents in a way that lets the reader distrust the sanity of the speaker. For example, Poe
repeats this phrase from page 92 It was a low, dull, quick sound much such a sound as a watch

uncontrollable rage that the reader cannot help but predict and fear. This repetition of events causes

The On The Nature Of Things
On the Nature of Things, known also by its original Latin title De Rerum Natura, is a 1st century
B.C. poem written by the Roman poet and philosopher Titus Lucretius Carus. The poem was written
with the purpose of explaining the philosophy of the ancient Greek philosopher, Epicurus, to the
common Roman audience of the time. Lucretiuswas born c. 99 B.C. and died around 55 B.C.
Lucretius was a follower of Epicureanism. This philosophy sought to refute myth and legends that
gods were responsible for the workings and nature of the world. In Lucretius s On the Nature of

The first of such is that nothing is made of nothing (Book 1, line 150). Proof that all things
require fixed origins or seeds comes from Lucretius explaining that ...if things came from
nothing, any kind of creature could then be born from anything, with no need of seeds. (Book 1,
lines 159 160). The next principle Lucretius discusses is Nature resolves all things into
component atoms, and never reduces them to nothing; (Book 1, lines 215 216). Thus, the second
principle is that nothing is resolved into nothing, otherwise, all matter would be destroyed at any
moment and the world will be unable to replenish itself in any manner (Book 1, lines 218 233).
Lucretius posits that Nature always recreates one thing from another, and nothing can be born
save by another s death (Book 1, lines 263 264). Following this, Lucretius moves on to argue the
existence of microscopic particles that cannot be seen with the naked eye (Book 1, line 267). He
calls these particles atoms and he infers their existence, based on the presence of several common
natural phenomena such as the wind, scent, heat, cold, sound, moisture, and even growth and decay

the assessment undertaken and subsequent decisions made can potentially enhance teaching and

numerous things to be assessed and various methods for assessing. One example of this is the
assessment of reading. A Running Record is one method of assessing a child s reading (Hill,

By the time James reaches the fifth line of the text he seems to have worked out he can predict the

At line 16 James makes an error reading The little bear instead of The teddy bear . Given the

meaning cues from the illustrations to work out the sentence will be about a bear coupled with

understanding and comprehension of the text is quite limited and there is no evidence he has really

The Walt Disney Company’s Corporate Culture Essay
The Walt Disney Company s Corporate Culture Kyle Thomas Corporate Analysis Section 239579
Corrie Kelly Due: 4/18/12 The Walt Disney Company has been an industry leader in the majority
of its business segments for many years now; a success which is due largely to its unique history,
heritage and corporate culture. Consumers and businesses alike around the world refer to the
Disney Standard of doing things, demonstrating the high level of regard in which they hold us and
the overall effectiveness of TWDC s business plan. Through the hundreds of positions within
TWDC, the main commonality is that each cast member has been entrusted with the preservation of
Walt s legacy. That guiding principle is... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Though some corporate belt tightening is obvious through the segments in response to the
economic recession, the company still focuses on maintaining a positive and supportive
environment for its cast. As with any company, the interests of an employee can determine
which aspects of the organization appeal to them most strongly. In other words, an employee s
experience is what they make it. This is especially true with TWDC in that there are so many
areas for cast members to take the initiative to better themselves, as well as their community and
environment. While some employees prefer to focus on their work, others can choose to take
advantage of additional training and other extracurricular activities. Compared to the other
employers that I ve worked for, TWDC definitely stands out. While it s true that TWDC has far
more to work with in the way of resources, the effort is still being made to appeal to each cast
member, while the other companies for whom I ve worked have focused exclusively on the
bottom line. Because I m a continuing education student with experience in a professional career,
participating in the College Program hasn t been as much of an eye opener for me as it has for
some of the younger students. That being said, I ve

IMPORTANCE OF MONITORING AND EVALUATION IN THE SUSTAINABILITY OF
CONSTITUENCY DEVELOMENT FUND (CDF) PROJECTS IN KENYA
Tecla Biwott1, Omar Egesah2, Javan Ngeywo1
Kisii1 Moi2 University, Kenya
ABSTRACT
The Kenya Government Constituency Development Fund (CDF) projects contribute immensely in
initiating and implementing sustainable development projects in all parts of Kenya, and it is
essential to track processes and impact of such projects. Monitoring and Evaluation helps project
managers in keeping track the implementation of the projects and its prudence in the utilization of
the resources. It provides decision makers with a strategy to plan for sustainability of the projects
and guidance for future endeavors. Sustainability is key to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

The concept of sustainable development was introduced by the publication of the Brundland report
having a basis of meeting the needs of the current situation while considering the upcoming
generations in meeting their needs too (World Commission on Environment and Development,
1987). While the concept is true, achievement of the sustainable development has no clear and
definite route (Becker, Jahn, Stiess, Wehling, 1997; Walker Kubisch, 2008).
Challenges in the society entail those in the production and those in the consumption (Beck, 1986).
It is therefore prudent to use a variety of evaluation that includes systems evaluation and
developmental evaluation (Imam, LaGoy Williams 2007; Patton, 2008). Challenges linked to
sustainable development needs knowledge development and a clear link between science and
society (Funtowicz Ravetz, 1993; Gibbons et al., 1994; Jasanoff, 2004; Nowotny, Scott, Gibbons,
2001). Management of project sustainability requires continuous improvement of ways and update
of tools of governance (Voss, Bauknecht, Kemp, 2006; Hajer, 2003; Loorbach, 2007; Rotmans,
Kemp, Asselt, 2001).
Projects are best placed when they make the most sense to purposed primary uses and when it
provides probable solution to the community challenge (Patton, 2008; Gibbons et al. 1994;
Nowotny et al. 2001; Regeer Bunders, 2009). Communities face complex and varied problems,

Rising Tuition Prices Essay
Rising Tuition Prices The skyrocketing price of college tuition is causing a tremendous concern
over whether higher education will be a viable financial concept to the average citizen over the
next decades. Some families have opted to explore different means of obtaining a higher education
for their children as these costs escalate. There is overwhelming evidence that colleges need to
restructure the way they are run because tuition pricesare increasing at a rapid rate causing changes
in the way students fund their education and in the way the government provides educational
subsidies.
Rep. Dick Zimmer predicts that at the current rate of rising college costs, by the year 2000 the
average price tag for attending a four year public ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
(Reiland, 59) Unfortunately this still is quite a high rate of increase compared to the inflation rate
throughout the economy.
Almost every college insists that they are doing everything possible to slow down the rate of
increase. For most colleges, the rising costs seem so unstoppable that just keeping them down
slightly over the rate of inflation is considered an achievement in itself. Only a few institutions have
actually been successful in reducing their tuition, most notably Ohio s Muskingum College. (Elfin,
90)
The cause of the large tuition prices is elusive. Colleges are unwilling to discuss where much of this
tax free revenue is spent. (Lemann, 45) Colleges usually place the blame of the increases on
congressional budget cutters, stingy state legislatures, government regulators and parents who
demand more costly student health and recreational services. Seldom spoken of are declining
teaching loads, nonproductive research, growing financial aid programs, bloated administrative
hierarchies, celebrity salaries for professorial stars, and inflated course offerings. (Elfin, 91)
Administrators fail to see a limit on available capital, and seem to believe the cost can just be
continually handed down to students without any consequences.
Part of the problem might be a surge of income

Wallace Stevens Disillusionment Of Ten O Clock
Wallace Stevens falls in the category with America s most respected poets. Stevens wrote many
of poems that got him to that prestigious category. Stevens was born in 1879 in Reading,
Pennsylvania and he took his last breath in August 1955 due to cancer. Harvard University is
where he was educated on literacy and was very successful at his time spent there. One particular
poem he wrote is short poem Disillusionment of Ten O Clock in 1915 and it was published in his
first book of poetryat the age of forty four known as, Harmonium . In the book Harmonium ,
Stevens published eighty five of his best poems that a century later are still contributing to modern
day poetry. While reading a poem a readercan have plenty of different thoughts or may interpret
the meaning to the poem differently than others. That being said, it all just depends on your
knowledge and the way you view things. Not every person is the same, so not everyone is going
to agree on the meanings of poems and there is nothing wrong with that. Therefore, the truth about
poems is only the writer really knows the meaning and readers can just guess and make
assumptions of what they interpret. After reading Stevens poem, Disillusionment of Ten O Clock
the beginning seems to be describing a typical dull household that is going to sleep for the night
and it puts off a haunted feel because the people are wearing white night gowns that are bland. The
second half of the poem talks about how the people in white

In my undergraduate career, I have been a declared double major in History and a Secondary
Education licensure program, in addition to a Political Science minor. I have completed my history

come to the realization that while I thoroughly love history and education, I do not want to be a
teacher. These passions have not been diminished, however; I want to take my passions and
channel them into helping a larger audience of people. I want to work in a public library. I know

licensure program, I have had the opportunity to learn skills and strategies of engagement. I have
taken courses in working with people with disabilities and non native English speakers. These
courses have enlightened me to aspects of life that I did not previously have intimate knowledge
of. The courses I have taken and the skills I have used while completing field placements in local
high schools will be instrumental working in a library. Additionally, I have had the opportunity to
challenge myself while completing two independent studies. The experience challenged me as I
worked on a nontraditional time schedule that required me to remain more focused and work
harder than traditional courses. The papers that resulted from the hard work have proven to
myself that I can accomplish my goals and manage my time in ways that are conducive to
maintaining a full schedule and create high quality of work. At MCLA, I have also been a

Sexism In The Barbie
Barbie Barbie is portraying the image on young girls to have the desire to look and be like her.
When girls at such a young age begin to play with Barbie they are seeing how perfect she looks.
Barbie s disproportional figure leads children and even teens to want her beautiful look that they
have admired for so many years. In 1965 the slumber party package was on the market showing
buyers how straight forward she is with her products and accessories. The package had all of the
normal slumber party things like a robe, comb, and hair rollers but it also had a weight scale set at
a permanent weight of 110 and a disturbing book on weight loss that read in all caps, DON T EAT.
This package is an example of how misleading Barbie and her... Show more content on

The GI Joe doll portrays the image of a man in the military. He dresses in camouflage and carries
around guns. Wagner Ott describes the GI Joe doll as a ...butch version of Barbie with the same
realism and detail, but applied to the toy soldier concept (249). Considering Barbie s beautiful
looks and countless perfect accessories, the GI Joe doll can relate to her. He has defined
muscles, a smooth tan, and all of his accessories fit him perfectly. These two dolls display sexist
attitudes in many ways. Barbie only moves in five different places, her neck, shoulders, and top
of her legs, whereas, GI Joe can move in twenty one different places. This shows that the male
doll can be more active and mobile but the female doll is restricted to a perfect posture and
cannot do much outside. Because dolls and action figures are emotionally close to children s lives,
they can become the source for discovering and analyzing how popular everyday objects help
construct students sense of identity, politics and culture (Wagner Ott, 252). Children are beginning
to see these dolls like Barbie and GI Joe and want everything they have and grow up to look
exactly like

Giuliano della Rovere, aforementioned nephew of Sixtus IV...
Giuliano della Rovere, aforementioned nephew of Sixtus IV fled to France shortly after
Alexander VI s ascension to the papal throne. From there he slowly gained support on top of the
influence and wealth he already had in Rome. In 1503, he returned to the Vatican for the conclave
that followed Alexander VI s death. For the second time, his attempt at the papal seat failed when
the cardinals chose Cardinal Francesco Todeschini Piccolomini, nephew of Pius II and a renowned
man of virtue as the new pontiff who then took the name of Pius III. The newly elected popedied
twenty six days later. In this conclave, Giuliano finally succeeded in gathering enough votes for his
claim of the papal seat .

Large areas in Romagna had fallen outside the jurisdiction of the papacy or claimed by Venice
after Alexander VI s death. In 1508, the circumstances forced Julius II to create the League of
Cambrai or more melodramatically known as the Holy League, an anti Venetian alliance between
the papacy, Louis XII, who then ruled Milan, Emperor Maximilian I, and Ferdinand II of Spain,
who was king of Naples. The league troops defeated Venice in May 1509 near Cremona, and the
Papal States were restored.
Although the League was initially successful, by 1510, King Louis XII was regarding Pope Julius II
as a greater threat than Venice. For that reason, France changed sides in the war and allied itself
with Venice. Not long after, Venice submitted to Julius II and allied itself with the papacy against
France. Following a year of fighting over the Romagna, during which the Veneto Papal alliance
was repeatedly defeated, the Pope proclaimed a Holy League against the French in October of
1511. This league rapidly grew to include England, Spain, and the Holy Roman Empire.
In 1512, Julius II successfully drove French across the Alps, but it was at the cost of the occupation
of Northern Italy by other powers, and Julius II, though he had secured the papal authority in the
states immediately around Rome, was essentially as far as ever from realizing his dream of an

Sister Carrie Character Analysis
In Sister Carrie, Dreiser uses very detailed descriptions of characters and their appearance. These
are not empty descriptions, each description of the clothes is so convincing that it plays with the
readers senses allowing them to visualize a dynamic cinematic picture (Stankovic 79). For
example, Carrie s total outfit consisted of a small trunk, a cheap imitation alligator skin satchel,
a small lunch in a paper box, and a yellow leather snap purse, containing her ticket, a scrap piece
of paper with her sister s address in Van Buren Street, and four dollars in money (Dreiser 1). Such
a description describes a person who is leaving in a rush with little money and only a scribbled
address, but someone who longs for more, as the imitation alligator skin satchel suggests. She
wants to convey a bit of wealth in her appearance and impression even though the bag is
imitation. Each of these men become the lovers of Carrie in the novel, and she was drawn to
each of them by her impressions of their appearance, but first impressions can be wrong and
appearances can be falsely portrayed. Carrie first succumbs to Drouet, becoming his mistress
acting falsely as his wife. She is later drawn to Hurstwood because of his appearance. When Carrie
meets her lover Drouet, and later Hurstwood, she compares them, measuring their financial
situation by looking at their clothes (Stanovic 81). Notice that Carrie describes Drouet s business
look as appealing, but Hurstwood s includes the

  • 2. My Monitoring Experience During These Classes Today was a very fun day for me, but there was not a lot of teacher observation to do. This is because, today Mrs. DeLorenzo was assessing each student individually and asked me to teach, while she was outside of the classroom assessing one student at a time. During CAMPEL, I also had to step up and help out the technology teacher as there was a technical problem with all the computers and she was trying to fix them up, so class could run. Therefore, for the purpose of this journal, I will list my monitoring experience during these classes. Mrs. DeLorenzo gave me her Community Booklet and told me that each child had one. She asked me to do two or three pages with them while she was outside of the classroom. First, I called the attention of the students and asked them to take out their booklets. Each page had 2 activities, so I gave them instructions in what to do in the first activity. They started working on it and I walked around the classroom observing their work and helping when needed. However, all of the sudden I had students walking around the classroom, students trying to talk to me about their field trip, students telling other students what to do, some students were talking loudly about things that were not related to the work , and others were playing around with their material. I first told them that they had to stay seated. Then that they had to concentrate on their work and that if they did so, I would give them time to talk to me about other stuff in the ... • 3. Second Prohibition Research Paper The Second Prohibition With recent years, excessive controversy has been brought up around marijuana. The birth of this comes from more states pushing for legalization. Marijuana, as a part of American history, is now being compared to another huge substance that has associated itself with American history: alcohol. These comparisons are coming from anti legalization supporters and should not be happening at all. Alcohol is not as regulated and educated than marijuana, even though pot has additional benefits, identical side effects, and a similar history to alcohol. The saying, A glass of red wine a day can extend a life may sound like a comforting phrase for alcoholics, Alcohol in moderation can help decrease the chances of cardiovascular ... Similar to Prohibition, marijuana would be used and abused considerably less in america with legalization. Related crime would no longer be significant and police can focus more time, energy, and money on robberies, murders, and other drugs that actually kill. They had a profound influence in their era and on the evolution of modern times. With their many accomplishments and dedication towards their empires, the great rulers flourished with new ideas and fought with no mercy to expand their empires. These colleges stood out to me because of how well they fit my needs of having a short distance college with exceptional. UNC and MSU are both close to home. They possess the educational programs I desire along with respectable baseball programs. When it comes to differences, living accommodations would be quite different between UNC and MSU. Following those lines, the graduation rates are also significantly different between the two. Even though MSU is a credible college, the graduation rate and distance from home could cause problems during daily life. For those reasons, UNC would make a better fit for me. When choosing which college to attend, living accommodations are a big thing to consider. If I were to go to MSU, I would have to live in a dorm. This could be a potential problem if I am paired up with a roommate that I end up not liking or one that doesn t like me. It would cause tension to build between us and ultimately one of us having a miserable life in college. • 9. How Does Temperature Affect The Rate Of Maggot Movement The Effect Of Temperature On The Rate Of Maggot Movement. Environmental Systems and Societies Planning Lab Gaurav Iyer Research Question To what extent does temperature affect the movement of Maggots? Introduction This Experiment aims to analyze the behaviour of the maggots in a particular temperature. Behaviour of the maggots is defined as the way they respond to their surrounding and environment. Maggots are organisms which react by quickly and a series of varied reflex reactions are shown and adapted. These kinds of actions are very important for keeping itself in a particular environment to live. Therefore, it would be expected that all maggots react in the same way to show a particular behavioural trend. Temperature is an environmental factor that will affect the maggot s behaviour. The temperature in the environment helps the maggots determine their rate of metabolism and its internal temperature. These organisms move according to the environmental temperature. A trend can be found to show the effect of temperature on the rate of movement of maggots. Hypothesis ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Also, if the temperature is too high for the maggots, there will be a decrease in the metabolic speed because of killing of enzymes which will cause the maggots to move ... • 12. The Legal Relationship Between Company And Its Members Essay Corporation origin from the Latin word Corpus which means body. It is formed by a group of people and has separate rights and liability from those individual. In any means, corporation exists independently from its owner and this principle is called the doctrine of separate personality. Doctrine of separate personality is the basic and fundamental principle in a Company Law. This principle outline the legal relationship between company and its members. Company s assets belong to the company not the shareholders as assets are the equity for creditors. Company must use up all its assets to pay off the creditors if it became insolvent. The same applies to the corporations debts. For limited liabilities company, the shareholder liability is limited which means that the shareholder is restricted to the number of shares they paid and not personally liable for the corporation s debts. If the company does not have enough equity to pay off debts, the creditors cannot come after the shareholders. However, limited liability company can be very powerful when in hands who do fraud and on defeating creditors claims. Courts then can ignore the doctrine for exception cases and lifting the corporate veil. Lifting the corporate veil is a situation where courts put aside limited liability and hold a corporation s shareholders or directors personally liable for the corporation s debts. • 16. Market Segments Based On Region For Cowsmoo Milk Bar Essay There are three possible market segments based on region for Cowsmoo Milk Bar. The first segment consists of those residing in rural areas. This market segment would not be ideal for our organization. Rural regions have a low population, and the majority of people who live in rural areas are more likely to be indifferent about the benefits that our company offers. This indifference may be caused from their isolated, secluded location, and their lack of a pressing need to keep up with a modern lifestyle. Therefore we feel that rural locations wouldn t result in as much business for our establishment as other possible locations. Another regional market segment to consider is suburban areas. On one hand, suburban locations would be feasible for our business because customers in these locations are mostly families. Young families will benefit from our product because it presents them with a healthier alternative to taking their kids out for traditional ice cream. On the other hand, suburban locations wouldn t benefit Cowsmoo Milk Bar as much as our next option because our goal is to get people in and out quickly so we can sell a large volume of products. That suburban locations are not heavily populated will make this company goal more difficult to reach. Lastly, there are urban locations. Essay about Health Benefits of the South Beach Diet Health Benefits of the South Beach Diet By promoting only healthy foods and in limited amounts, the South Beach diet proves to be an effective and safe path to weight loss. South Beach permits foods which are high in fiber and low in saturated fat such as whole grain rice, salmon and nuts. The diet does not exclude any particular class of food, fats or carbohydrates for example, but insists that foods high in cholesterol, such as bacon, be avoided. Yet, this is not the only restriction of the diet. South Beach also limits the amount of food consumed each day to 1,500 calories. These limitations support health, not specifically the shedding of pounds. Dr. Agatston, the diet s founder, states the purpose of the diet is to lower his patients risk of heart attack and stroke not to help them look better in their bikinis ( South Beach Diet ). The foundation of this diet is clearly health. South Beach recommended foods can therefore keep a body healthy, but not necessarily thin. Nonetheless, a body low in fat is an essential part of health, especially that of the heart. People who are overweight often find themselves facing problems of heart attacks and heart disease. When excessive body fat is stored, arteries get clogged and a strain is put on the heart. In having a slimmer body, arteries are freer to allow blood flow and heart problems are less likely to occur. Even though Dr. Agatston did not devise the diet in hopes of creating a system for weight loss, a body with little excess fat can help achieve his overall goal of helping people maintain a healthier heart. The actual weight loss from the South Beach diet is achieved by its calorie limitations, which in turn also assist in maintaining health. South Beach does not allow the dieter to exceed 1,500 calories a day. Nutritionists suggest that a 2,000 calorie a day diet will maintain a person s current weight; therefore it is only logical that reducing that amount of calories will result in loss of weight. • 18. The Adoption Of Electronic Health Records According to a survey from SK A, after an initial migration to health IT solutions, practice owners adoption of electronic health records (EHR) has plateaued with only about a 2.8% increase from January 2014 to January 2015. The survey found that overall adoption by physicians is 62.8%, and that, in general, the larger the practice, the (not surprisingly) higher the adoption rates, with 77.2% of docs at medical groups of 25 or more members using EHRs this is compared to only 54.5% of solo practitioners adopting the technology. Why the Drop in Adoption Rates? Other survey findings clearly illustrate the fact that while EHRs do come with benefits, most are not embraced by physicians because of their lack of functionality and difficulty of use. According to this survey , overall provider satisfaction with EHRs has declined by almost 30% over the past five years. Conducted by the American Medical Association and American EHR Partners, the survey questioned 940 practice owners about their level of satisfaction with their EHR. What was interesting right off the bat about these findings was that only 34% of physicians said they were satisfied or very satisfied with their EHR systems compared to 61% of respondents who were satisfied only five years ago. The survey also found: 42% of physicians described their EHR s ability to improve efficiency as difficult or very difficult. 43% said they were consistently challenged with their EHR s ability to address productivity. ... • 19. The Importance Of European Imperialism In The Congo Between the years 1884 1912, European powers were in competition to acquire African colonies. This was the emergence of the new age of imperialism and what historians refer to as the scramble for Africa. By the end of the 19th century, all of Africa with the exception of Liberia and Ethiopia was divided amongst European powers. During that time, the Belgiumgovernment had no interest in imperializing Africa except for their King, Leopold II. Due to lack of support from the Belgium government, King Leopold independently gained private possession of the Congo. While King Leopold embodied the ideas of imperialism, he did not effectively demonstrate the civilized mission, but instead exploited workers in desperation to acquire imperial power. The atrocities committed under his rule went unacknowledged for decades until the publication of reports exposed the atrocities in the Congo. The widespread exposure King Leopold was a catalyst in his removal. King Leopold claimed his interest in the Congo was motivated by the desire to extend the benefits of European civilization to Africa. This ideology is referred to as the civilizing mission the belief that it is Europeans duty and responsibility to bring forth civilization to non European nations. Leopold hoped to achieve this by establishing trade relations for which the people of Belgium and the Congo could benefit. In contrast, they attract many tourists with their tall skyscrapers, and their famous attractions. As well as similarities, there s also, many differences. Today, Chicagoand New York Cityare known for having many job opportunities and luring people in with promising careers. Whereas in Detroit, it s known to be quite hard to find employment. These cities have gone on a long journey to get to where they re at today. I ll be discussing Detroit s history from around 1880 to 1910 and comparing it to the way Chicago and New York City was in the book, Sister Carrie written by Theodore Dreiser. From 1880 to 1910 Detroit changed dramatically. The city was under development and was on its way to becoming a successful, and higher populated, city. According to Detroit Historical Society, in 1880 Detroit s population consisted of over 100,000 citizens. At this time, Detroit also had a diverse community of many different nationalities and it was known as an immigrant city. Detroit Historical Society also states that by 1890, Detroit s population nearly doubled reaching over 200,000. What surprised me the most was how many people lived there. I recall being taught there were only a few Native American tribes in America before it was settled by Europeans, but the opposite is true. One misconception that the Europeans had about North America was that the land had never truly been used. They believed the land had never been used for crops or homesteading, as evidenced by Alexis de Tocqueville. With the rise in childhood obesity, the lack of prenatal care for expecting mothers, and lack of coverage for many Americans there is a need to evaluate the health of our youth and the availability of services and education. The current youth are the future workforce of the nation. Lessening the risk of chronic illness, obesity, and stabilizing environmental conditions will allow the upcoming generation to help build a stronger economy. • 25. General Theory Of Crime And Delinquency General Theory of Crime and Delinquency Many theories exist including biological, psychological, and sociological theories that have been proposed by many criminologists in the criminal justice field and have been closely studied by people (Agnew, Cullen, Wilcox, 2004). Most theories are proposed at the micro level meaning it tries to explain the criminal behavior of individuals and some are proposed at the macro level which tries to explain the crimerates in social groups, meaning micro focuses on individuals and macro focuses on groups (Agnew et al., 2004). When something gets integrated it means something is being mixed together and may form one idea when those items get put together. Messner heavily discusses integrated theories which he describes as being theories that are integrated or mixed to formulate relationships that list different variables from different theories (Krohn, Liska, Messner, 1989). The integrated theory seeks to describe the relationships between different theories and integrating them into one by gathering all the facts and information from several theories with different strategies being used to integrate theories. (Krohn et al., 1989). General theory of crime and delinquency focuses on how certain risk factors have an effect on crime, answers why criminals offend, describes how crime occurs when constraints are low and when motivation from crime is high and how certain life domains have reciprocal effects. In his Summa Theologiae, Aquinas uses his own arguments along with those of both Aristotle and Plato to strengthen his claims. First and foremost, Aquinas uses his own philosophy to back the Christian faith and the existence of God. However, Aquinas also extends his argument past the initial claim of God and Christianity, and it is here where he uses these other influential philosophers to help support his claims and arguments. Right away in Basic Works, Aquinas jumps straight to the biggest issue regarding religion does God exist? Immediately in his philosophical argumentation he focuses on his faith. Regarding this question, Aquinas first explains the notion God being self evident. Aquinas divides propositions into two categories being propositions that are self evident in themselves but which are not known to us because we do not know what the terms of the proposition really mean, and propositions which are self evident in themselves and known to us because we do. Aquinas goes on to explain that the proposition that God exists is self evident in itself because the predicate is identical with the subject and that since we don t know what God is, the proposition is not self evident to us but rather must be demonstrated to us though what is more evident to us (Question 2, Article 1). This was normally dry but could be flooded by pipes if necessary. Behind this was a set of three walls to get through. The first, a low wall to shield a line of archers. However, if attackers managed to get through the first wall, they had to overcome the second wall which was 27 feet high. This sheltered even more troops. Finally if possible to get through all this they had to give there all for the last wall. Standing at 70 feet high, this wall housed more archers and missile throwers. The only thing that could destroy these walls was the force of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Consumers and businesses alike around the world refer to the Disney Standard of doing things, demonstrating the high level of regard in which they hold us and the overall effectiveness of TWDC s business plan. Though some corporate belt tightening is obvious through the segments in response to the economic recession, the company still focuses on maintaining a positive and supportive environment for its cast. As with any company, the interests of an employee can determine which aspects of the organization appeal to them most strongly. In other words, an employee s experience is what they make it. This is especially true with TWDC in that there are so many areas for cast members to take the initiative to better themselves, as well as their community and environment. While some employees prefer to focus on their work, others can choose to take advantage of additional training and other extracurricular activities. Compared to the other employers that I ve worked for, TWDC definitely stands out. While it s true that TWDC has far more to work with in the way of resources, the effort is still being made to appeal to each cast member, while the other companies for whom I ve worked have focused exclusively on the bottom line. Because I m a continuing education student with experience in a professional career, participating in the College Program hasn t been as much of an eye opener for me as it has for some of the younger students. The concept of sustainable development was introduced by the publication of the Brundland report having a basis of meeting the needs of the current situation while considering the upcoming generations in meeting their needs too (World Commission on Environment and Development, 1987). While the concept is true, achievement of the sustainable development has no clear and definite route (Becker, Jahn, Stiess, Wehling, 1997; Walker Kubisch, 2008). Challenges in the society entail those in the production and those in the consumption (Beck, 1986). It is therefore prudent to use a variety of evaluation that includes systems evaluation and developmental evaluation (Imam, LaGoy Williams 2007; Patton, 2008). Challenges linked to sustainable development needs knowledge development and a clear link between science and society (Funtowicz Ravetz, 1993; Gibbons et al., 1994; Jasanoff, 2004; Nowotny, Scott, Gibbons, 2001). Management of project sustainability requires continuous improvement of ways and update of tools of governance (Voss, Bauknecht, Kemp, 2006; Hajer, 2003; Loorbach, 2007; Rotmans, Kemp, Asselt, 2001). Projects are best placed when they make the most sense to purposed primary uses and when it provides probable solution to the community challenge (Patton, 2008; Gibbons et al. 1994; Nowotny et al. 2001; Regeer Bunders, 2009). Rising Tuition Prices Essay Rising Tuition Prices The skyrocketing price of college tuition is causing a tremendous concern over whether higher education will be a viable financial concept to the average citizen over the next decades. Some families have opted to explore different means of obtaining a higher education for their children as these costs escalate. There is overwhelming evidence that colleges need to restructure the way they are run because tuition pricesare increasing at a rapid rate causing changes in the way students fund their education and in the way the government provides educational subsidies. Rep. Dick Zimmer predicts that at the current rate of rising college costs, by the year 2000 the average price tag for attending a four year public ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... (Reiland, 59) Unfortunately this still is quite a high rate of increase compared to the inflation rate throughout the economy. Almost every college insists that they are doing everything possible to slow down the rate of increase. For most colleges, the rising costs seem so unstoppable that just keeping them down slightly over the rate of inflation is considered an achievement in itself. Only a few institutions have actually been successful in reducing their tuition, most notably Ohio s Muskingum College. (Elfin, 90) The cause of the large tuition prices is elusive. Colleges are unwilling to discuss where much of this tax free revenue is spent. (Lemann, 45) Colleges usually place the blame of the increases on congressional budget cutters, stingy state legislatures, government regulators and parents who demand more costly student health and recreational services. Seldom spoken of are declining teaching loads, nonproductive research, growing financial aid programs, bloated administrative hierarchies, celebrity salaries for professorial stars, and inflated course offerings. (Elfin, 91) Administrators fail to see a limit on available capital, and seem to believe the cost can just be continually handed down to students without any consequences. While reading a poem a readercan have plenty of different thoughts or may interpret the meaning to the poem differently than others. That being said, it all just depends on your knowledge and the way you view things. Not every person is the same, so not everyone is going to agree on the meanings of poems and there is nothing wrong with that. Therefore, the truth about poems is only the writer really knows the meaning and readers can just guess and make assumptions of what they interpret. After reading Stevens poem, Disillusionment of Ten O Clock the beginning seems to be describing a typical dull household that is going to sleep for the night and it puts off a haunted feel because the people are wearing white night gowns that are bland. These two dolls display sexist attitudes in many ways. Barbie only moves in five different places, her neck, shoulders, and top of her legs, whereas, GI Joe can move in twenty one different places. This shows that the male doll can be more active and mobile but the female doll is restricted to a perfect posture and cannot do much outside. From there he slowly gained support on top of the influence and wealth he already had in Rome. In 1503, he returned to the Vatican for the conclave that followed Alexander VI s death. For the second time, his attempt at the papal seat failed when the cardinals chose Cardinal Francesco Todeschini Piccolomini, nephew of Pius II and a renowned man of virtue as the new pontiff who then took the name of Pius III. In 1508, the circumstances forced Julius II to create the League of Cambrai or more melodramatically known as the Holy League, an anti Venetian alliance between the papacy, Louis XII, who then ruled Milan, Emperor Maximilian I, and Ferdinand II of Spain, who was king of Naples. The league troops defeated Venice in May 1509 near Cremona, and the Papal States were restored. Although the League was initially successful, by 1510, King Louis XII was regarding Pope Julius II as a greater threat than Venice. For that reason, France changed sides in the war and allied itself with Venice. Not long after, Venice submitted to Julius II and allied itself with the papacy against France. Following a year of fighting over the Romagna, during which the Veneto Papal alliance was repeatedly defeated, the Pope proclaimed a Holy League against the French in October of 1511. This league rapidly grew to include England, Spain, and the Holy Roman Empire. In 1512, Julius II successfully drove French across the Alps, but it was at the cost of the occupation of Northern Italy by other powers, and Julius II, though he had secured the papal authority in the states immediately around Rome, was essentially as far as ever from realizing his dream of an ... • 53. Sister Carrie Character Analysis In Sister Carrie, Dreiser uses very detailed descriptions of characters and their appearance. These are not empty descriptions, each description of the clothes is so convincing that it plays with the readers senses allowing them to visualize a dynamic cinematic picture (Stankovic 79). For example, Carrie s total outfit consisted of a small trunk, a cheap imitation alligator skin satchel, a small lunch in a paper box, and a yellow leather snap purse, containing her ticket, a scrap piece of paper with her sister s address in Van Buren Street, and four dollars in money (Dreiser 1). Such a description describes a person who is leaving in a rush with little money and only a scribbled address, but someone who longs for more, as the imitation alligator skin satchel suggests. She wants to convey a bit of wealth in her appearance and impression even though the bag is imitation. Each of these men become the lovers of Carrie in the novel, and she was drawn to each of them by her impressions of their appearance, but first impressions can be wrong and appearances can be falsely portrayed. Carrie first succumbs to Drouet, becoming his mistress acting falsely as his wife. She is later drawn to Hurstwood because of his appearance.
