How Successful Were The Suffragettes
Were the Suffragettes Successful?
The Suffragettes were formed by Emmeline Pankhurst in October of 1903 as the Women s Social and
Political Union (WSPU) and were essentially a new organisation based on the National Union of
Women s Suffrage Societies (NUWSS), whose members were known as Suffragists. The Suffragettes
are famous, or rather infamous, for their use of violence. Their motto was, after all, Deeds not Words .
Historians still argue today as to how successful they were in their own right, whether it was
inevitable for women to get the vote, and, if so, how much of a contribution the Suffragettes really
made. Many argue that it was womens effort in the First World War that made the most difference to
women obtaining the vote in 1918, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Full electoral equality was not in place until the Representation of the People Act 1928. Both the
Suffragettes and the Suffragists celebrated up and down the country; the Act had been achieved after
tireless years of campaigning and four years of filling jobs left by men who went to war which, to
most, undeniably helped to convince Parliament to greater effect than the extreme activities of the
Suffragettes pre WW1. Many agree that the Suffragists efforts also played a very important role,
including Joyce Marlow, women s history writer, who wrote in Votes for Women (2000);
Some would argue including me that it was the moderates of the NUWSS, led by Millicent Fawcett,
who actually won the vote. In 1912, while the militants embarked on arson and bombing, the NUWSS
made a successful working alliance with the growing Labour Party. It was this group which
successfully lobbied for the 1918 Franchise

E Books On The Market
Ever since e books arrived on the market, it has been said that it will only be a matter of time before
they replace printed books altogether. In recent years the E Book and the ability to purchase copies of
an electronic book online has risen in popularity. There are many people who would care if the printed
book was replaced by an electronic counterpart. It makes some wonder whether one will replace the
other or will they both be able to coexist. Because of the improvement in technology and the increased
availability of online books, printed books may become obsolete in the near future. E books were
initially conceptualized in 1945 by Vannevar Bush, but it took until the early 2000s for the transition
from the printed book to the electronic book to begin. It took ten or so years for the e book to become
a part of people s daily lives (Pledger 2010). An e book is nothing but a computer file/electronic copy
of printed book that needs a device such as PC or PDA or web, to access and read (Ramaiah 2012).
Storage, ease of purchase, portability, price and useful features are just some of the things that draw e
book lovers in. E books have a large storage capacity; thousands of books can be stored on one device.
Nowadays there are multiple websites to purchase e books from without any hassle. E books can also
be seen as more portable than regular printed books. When one book is finished, another can be started
right away. They are also lighter printed books. Price is also a

Meta-Analysis Sample
Synthesis of the Research
A solid school vision statement and its accompanying goals should reflect the culture of a school and
provide for improvement in the school s instructional program, and professional development to
improve student learning (ELCC 2). The meta analysis work of Marzano, Waters and McNulty (2005)
discovered the importance of each of these dimensions in relationship to school principals and the
successful school environment. Furthermore, principals skill in each of these dimensions has
demonstrated a positive correlation to student achievement (Marzano et al.).
With regard to culture, the role of the principal has been found to have a direct impact on the culture
of the school (Marzano et al., 2005). The principal is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Autonomous Vehicle Deontology
I would choose Deontology for the programming of the autonomous vehicles. Deontology refers to
moral philosophies that focus on the rights of the individuals and on the intentions associated with a
particular behavior rather than its consequences. (Ferrell, et al, 2013, p.159). Why some other life
should be taken by the actions of the autonomous vehicle. The rights of the individuals in the video in
the other lanes would take preference over the autonomous vehicles rights. Since, the autonomous
vehicle would be programmed to not break the law and speed and follow safe following procedures;
the vehicle should be able to withstand the impact. However, even if the impact is fatal, I believe the

1. Describe the ways in which swing music and popular culture were interrelated during the time
known as the swing era.
There were many ways in which swing music and popular culture were interrelated during the time
known as the swing era. Jazz became the cornerstone of popular culture during the period known as
the swing era. The swing era influenced clothing styles, retail marketing, fashion, dance, and even
language. Swing fans had their own clothing style and built a social phenomenon around it. With
many dances coming and going the swing fans kept on dancing.

up their bags and shutting down. The swing era had suddenly ended from changing economics, the
war, predictability, the changing audience, and bebop all of this had ended what was known as the
swing era.
10. Describe how the styles of Lester Young and Coleman Hawkins were different.
The styles from Lester Young and Coleman Hawkins were very different throughout the swing era.
Hawkins and Young were two of the best tenor sax players that had emerged during the swing era.
Considerably different, Hawkins played a huge dark sound, whereas Young s was light and breathy.
Some of the differences were as follows; Hawkins improvisations were based on his superior
knowledge of harmony, Young s were rooted in the blues, Hawkins played with a rhythmic approach
that was always closely tied to the beat, and Young s rhythmic conception was much looser, and often
untied to the beat. Although they had many differences, they inspired sax players for years to come.

A Review of the Effects of Steroid Hormones and Neuropeptides on Social Emotional Behavior
Bos, Peter A., Panksepp, Jaak, Bluthé, Rose Marie, van Honk, Jack (2011). Acute effects of steroid
hormones and neuropeptides on human social emotional behavior: A review of single administration
studies. Frontiers in Neuroendocrinology 33 (2012) 17 35.
1. Introduction/Background Information The discovery of hormones and their function has been
relatively recent. The term was first coined by Professor Earnest Starling in 1905. He derived the word
from the Greek meaning to arouse or excite. However, the idea of the role hormones could be traced
back as far as ancient Greece. Though Hippocrates theory on humors has been refuted, the ... Show

The neuro developmental effects of these chemicals are comparatively well known, while their impact
on human conduct has yet to be fully comprehended.
2. Goals of the study The main goal of this study was to review all of the placebo controlled single
hormone administration studies addressing human social emotional behavior, involving the peptides
oxytocin and vasopressin, and the steroids testosterone and estradiol. This research gives insight into
the underlying neural mechanisms and also demonstrates substantial hormonal control over human
behavior. After reviewing and discussing the placebo controlled studies, they proposed a theoretical
model that synthesized detailed knowledge of neuroendocrinology of social emotional behavior in
animals, as well as the recently gained data on humans. The study of emotional and behavioral
disorders have become more popular in the last twenty years. Characteristics of these irregularities
include: learning disabilities that are not explainable by either sensory, health, or intellectual factors;
persistently inappropriate feelings and conduct; and/or chronic unhappiness or depression (gadoe.org).
The authors of this study thoroughly analyzed the underlying neural mechanisms of supplemental
hormones and how they affect participants as opposed to using a placebo. Research into human
behavior as it relates to neuroendocrinology will be crucial to future generations and their
interrelations.

Impact Of Prematurity On Development Essay example
Impact of Premature Birth on Development
Years ago, premature birth almost always meant death for the baby. Today, however, we have the
technology to nurture these infants development, and many of them survive to lead normal, healthy
lives. Although, very premature infants (that is, those born before about the fifth month) are still not
likely to survive, many born at five months and older will thrive. Some preterm babies, however, do
have many obstacles to overcome. There are a variety of medical problems that affect some of them,
they may have impaired mental or physical conditions, and they may be looked upon by others in their
environment as slow, or they might be treated differently because they were ... Show more content on

This still puts them in the same IQ range as their full term peers. They are more likely to need special
education classes later in life, though, and more likely to have to repeat a grade in school. This is most
likely because some premature infants have been shown to have some cognitive impairment when
compared to full term infants of the same age. Their memories are not as good, and their information
processing speed is significantly lower.
There have been many studies performed that compare the cognitive performance of preterm infants
with full term infants. One study in particular, performed by Susan A. Rose and Judith F. Feldman,
tested the memory and the processing speed of preterm children versus full term children at the age of
eleven. They used the Colorado Specific Abilities Test, which is a comparison of eight paper and
pencil tasks the child must perform. This test showed the degree of these four abilities: memory,
perceptual speed, spatial ability, and verbal ability. They also used the Cognitive Abilities Test (CAT)
which is a detailed exam of memory and speed. This test shows us exactly what aspects of speed and
memory it is that pre and full term children differ in, and how much this difference actually affects
them. It is comprised of a set of basic cognitive tasks used to study the individual elements of

Effects Of The Holocaust
Effects of the Holocaust
The Holocaust, as you may already know, Was created by hitler as a way to raise hope in his soldiers,
even though most nazi soldiers didnt even know about the concentration camps and some thought they
were wrong. The holocaust was a span of quite some time from January 30, 1933 to May 8, 1945.
After liberation many Jewish survivors feared to return to their former homes because of the
antisemitism (hatred of Jews) that persisted in parts of Europe and the trauma they had suffered. Some
who returned home feared for their lives. In postwar Poland, for example, there were a number of
pogroms (violent anti Jewish riots). The largest of these occurred in the town of Kielce in 1946 when
Polish rioters killed at least 42 Jews and beat many others. From www.ushmm.org. For any and all

Essay On Translocation To Mitochondria
In the critical experiment for this grant proposal, we observed that DJ 1 Cys 106 SO3 (Figs. 3, 4;
Table 1) contributes to DJ 1 translocation to mitochondria (Fig. 9). Interestingly, we found that first,
NHEJ 1 is also shifted to these organelles and second, it interacts with DJ 1 in mitochondria (Fig. 7).
We hypothesize that posttranslational modifications of DJ 1 lead to its interaction with NHEJ 1 in
these organelles. This may result in the impairment of mtDNA damage repair. To further study the
mechanism of this interaction, we will use tandem mass spectrometry (QTOF, letter attached, Fig. 8)
as a suitable method for enabling site mapping and quantification of chemical modifications of
proteins. We will treat A549 cells with mt OX as ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Mitochondrial amount will be analyzed using a ratio of total mtDNA to nuclear DNA by RT PCR. We
will also analyze fission and fusion and mitophagy as described in SA#1.1.2. Additionally, we will
measure the kinetics of cytosolic mtDNA release, which is a marker of mitochondrial injury, using RT
PCR in cytosolic fractions obtained from A549 cells with DJ 1 knockout or overexpression in
comparison with control. We anticipate that DJ 1 knockout will impair mitochondrial dynamics,
exaggerate mtDNA damage and mitophagy, and increase ROS formation and cell apoptosis. DJ 1
overexpression will provide cytoprotection and will rescue of A549 cell injury induced by mt OX.
Alternative approaches: We do not expect any problems with this SA. We anticipate that dysregulated
metabolic signatures in human primary ATII cells obtained from patients with emphysema will
correlate with mitochondrial dysfunction. Our proposed approach may uncover novel mechanisms by
which DJ 1 is involved in mitochondrial function and metabolism. Based on our obtained results from
mass spectrometry analysis, we may also include in our study other DNA damage repair proteins,
which interact with DJ 1.
Specific Aim #1. Genome wide RNAi screening to identify novel targets involved in mitochondrial
DNA (mtDNA) damage induced by mt OX.
Hypothesis: We hypothesize that mt OX induces mtDNA damage. We will identify novel targets
leading to mitochondrial dysfunction.
Rationale: Mitochondria are enclosed by an

LCPL Dubuisson, Bryce A. 20160922 The History of 6TH Marine Regiment The 6TH Marine
Regiment is an infantry regiment of the United States Marine Corps based at Marine Corps Base
Camp Lejeune, North Carolina. The regiment falls under the command of the 2nd Marine Division of
the II Marine Expeditionary Force. In 1917, the 6TH Marine Regiment was ativated on 11 July at
Marine Corps Base Quantico, Virginia to fight in World War I1. In early 1918, 6TH Marine Regiment
joined the 5TH Marine Regiment and the 6TH Machine Gun Battalion to form the 4TH Brigade. In
March of 1918 near Verdun the Marine Brigade entered th trenches of the Toulon Sector, where the
regiment suffered its first combat casualties1. Being forced to wear Army uniforms the only thing
Marines had to to set themselves apart was a cover with an eagle globe and ancore. This did not sit
will ith the marines so they desiged a patch. It had a black shield white star and indian head with a full
war dress2. The black was to mourne and respect their fallen brothers, the shield stood for defense of
each other and their country, the star was to show respect for the marines commanding general Bridger
Genral John A lejeune, and the indian head was to show the fighting spirte of the marines themselves2.
The Marines would wear this patch in battle and it was a sybole that the enemy feared, a symbole that
the Germans gave the name shock troops to those who wore it1. The 4th Brigade was ordered to

Essay On To Kill A Mockingbird Coming Of Age
In the book To Kill A Mockingbird, Scout grows up in a small town where nothing normally happens.
When her dad is given a case to defend a black man, she gets thrown into a world where racism has
been the norm. She hasn t been exposed to something like this, so she is confused, but she grows more
mature in that time. She and Jem both come of age in different ways in the story and get a taste of the
real world. Scout and Jem both show maturation throughout the book. Their father s decision to
defend a black man opens them up to the harsh world of racism and prejudice, meanwhile he shows
them how to be compassionate to people and not to follow the norm. The reason To Kill A
Mockingbird is a great coming of age story is that it lifts Scout and Jem out of the racist society norms
and asks them to be more and model their father s behavior. Even though racism is a big problem of
our world today, it was a bigger problem when Jem and Scout were children.

Mary Shelley s Frankenstein
Mary Shelley s Frankenstein is a true literary masterpiece and one of the best horror novels ever
written. The book also allows for us to get a glimpse into the nineteenth century world and the society
in which this novel was written in. Like most novels, Frankenstein was deeply influenced by the
society in which it was written in. Ideas such as romanticism and post enlightenment are seen
throughout the work and have a great impact upon the book. Now the story of Frankenstein is

enlightenment along with horror to create a masterpiece of a novel. Frankenstein was released during
a time in European history that was quite peaceful. Napoleon had been exiled for the second time. The

The Concept of Peace
For Muslims peace is not a single dimensional or specific idea. Peace is to be at rest with one s own
wants and desires and to have peace with the world around them. There is a mutual relationship
between this inner peace and the peace with the wider world. Muslim s believe that you cannot be at
peace with yourself until you are also at peace with others. It will also not be possible to live at peace
with others until there is a sense of peace with yourself.
In Islam the concept of peace is two fold. Individuals must firstly be at peace with Allah and secondly,

Obedience to the Five Pillars helps to ensure that the individual adherent finds inner peace.
The Islamic concepts of Taqwa, Qadr and Sabr hold more immediate benefits. For Muslims everyday
is a struggle, or jihad, to pursue submission and to see that the Five Pillars are correctly observed. This
on going struggle helps ensure Muhammad s command to be conscious of Allah in your heart (Taqwa)
is always fulfilled. The greater the level of Taqwa in an adherent s heart, the closer they are to God
and peace. The more Taqwa an adherent has the easier it will be for them to submit to the notion of
Qadr, the concept of God s measurement of how we respond to the changes of life. Adherents are
expected to trust Allah with peace and acceptance no matter what fate that might occur to them. Sabr
is the patience and determination an individual demonstrates in the face of life s challenges. The Qur

The Importance Of Communication In The Basque Culture
The Basque community as a whole are a very close, tight knit family regardless if it means they are
related by blood or not. The Roman Catholic religion populates for about 94% of the Basque country.
Aside from religion, activities outside the home such as sporting events and traditional festivities
throughout the year are ways they define their culture. It is important for them to keep these going
from generation to generation. Every culture has the same framework model, but with differences
depending on location geographically. This paper explores the Basque culture and how their beliefs
and values on children and family affect the way they live. As mentioned in Galanti s text there are
four C s of culture. Each much be communicated properly to the patient in order to receive optimal
health care: first C) What do you call your problem? second C) What do you think caused your
problem? third C) How do you cope with your condition? fourth C) What concerns do you have
regarding the condition? (Galanti 2008).

primarily in the northern central area of Spain and is known to be Europe s oldest living languages.
The languages spoken are both Basque and Spanish and both can be very complex with several

The Importance Of JROTC Lessons In Providing A Service
What does it mean to serve someone? Serving someone means that you offered your own time to help
that person and you don t expect anything in return. The Bible tells us in Matthew 20:28 that Even as

words, Jesus came only to serve the people of the world and even died for us. I am going to describe

makes them feel good and even feel some relief. Whenever I help someone, I always feel better
afterwards. At the end of the day, I feel like I can relax. Second, I learned that people really appreciate
it when you help them. My grandmother has been grateful to me ever since I started helping her by
doing basic chores around her house. Third, I learned that people will have a lot of respect for you.
They see that you took time out of your busy schedule to help them and they will not forget it. They
will also be able to trust you. It makes me feel like a better person if people trust me. Finally, I learned
that helping someone else can get your mind off of your own problems. If you did badly on a test, had
a death in the family, or you are just having a bad day for any reason, serving others will be a good
way to keep you from thinking about it. It would be like getting a good workout at the gym. JROTC is

Examples Of Decisions ( Marketing Mix )
Examples of Decisions (Marketing Mix)
The main component of the marketing mix is the product. It consists of the services, along with the
physical product itself. The company imaging, packaging, and the brand name are all included in this
concept. An example of product decision in this particular case study is the variety of cookies that are
provided:
The Girl Scouts will also be asking certain troops to reduce their cookie lineups to six varieties. The
top six selling cookies Thin Mints, Do si dos, Trefoils, Samoas, Lemon Charlet Cremes, and
Tagalongs account for about 77 percent of cookies sales. (Lamb, Hair, and McDaniel 21).
The Girl Scouts made portion changes by decreasing cookie varieties by 1 ounce per box and they
made the decision to use plastic in the place of cardboard, which is normally used. These product
decisions are examples of packaging and serving size.
Place decisions refer to warehousing, order processing, and giving the product to the customer when
and where the customer wants it. The two Florida teens that used their mom s vehicle as an on the go
cookie store are an example of place decision making. Another example is the unknown top seller in
Atlanta that chose sales locations based off of the demographic research she had done. Many of the
Girl Scout troops are also known for setting up booths outside of grocery stores that have high
amounts of foot traffic.
Promotion decisions are all about receiving excellent customer feedback. This includes

The USA used the Eagle as their unit, and Germany introduced the new gold mark, while Canada
adopted a dual system based on both the American Gold Eagle and the British Gold Sovereign.
Australia and New Zealand adopted the British gold standard, as did the British West Indies, while
Newfoundland was the only British Empire territory to introduce its own gold coin as a standard.
Royal Mint branches were established in Sydney, New South Wales, Melbourne, Victoria, and Perth,
Western Australia for the purposes of minting gold sovereigns from Australia s rich gold deposits. The
Gold Exchange Standard Towards the end of the 19th century some of the remaining silver standard
countries began to peg their silver coin units to the gold standards of the United Kingdom or the USA.
In 1898,British India pegged the silver rupee to the pound sterling at a fixed rate of 1s 4d, while in
1906, the Straits Settlements adopted a gold exchange standard against the pound sterling with the
silver Straits dollar being fixed at 2s 4d. Meanwhile at the turn of the century, the Philippines pegged
the silver Peso/dollar to the US dollar at 50 cents. A similar pegging at 50 cents occurred at around the
same time with the silver Peso of Mexico and the silver Yen of Japan. When Siam adopted a gold
exchange standard in 1908, this left only China and Hong Kong on the silver standard. The gold
specie standard ended in the United Kingdom and the rest of the British Empire at the outbreak of

Borderline Personality Disorder And Mental Health Disorder
Borderline Personality Disorder There are many disorders in our world that affect us every day. Some
of these disorders can be manageable by simple changes in daily activates and others need extensive
treatments and yet will never be cured . Borderline personality disorder is one that affects a person so
radically that the person may consider suicide or even commit it. Extensive therapy and even
sometimes drugs are needed to lead a healthy life. BORDERLINE PERSONALITY DISORDER
(BPD) is a mental health disorder that affects how a person processes information and his or her
ability to understand and cope with different social situations. (Dolecki, 2012) People who suffer from
BPD don t really understand the ways of relationships (friends, family, intimate). They see concrete
ways and barely see the abstract of society. They are not very reliable or dependable and have
problems keeping jobs, friends and even paying bills. People with this disorder are usually impulsive
and do not always make thoughtful decisions . (Dolecki, 2012) Emotions can rage through the person
which can confuse them to think that they possibly are Bipolar. There are many symptoms that can be
expressed in a person who has borderline personality disorder. The symptoms can be general with
things such as mood and emotion swings, impulsive acting, low self esteem, and outbursts. Many of
these are common signs of teens going through puberty, but if they are the signs of a person with

The ongoing rivalry and military grievances between India and Pakistan have compelled both the
countries to invest a considerable amount of their resources into defense which could be better utilized
in initiating development projects. Decades of internal political disputes and low levels of foreign
investment have led to slow growth and underdevelopment in Pakistan. Agriculture accounts for more

In 1947, India and Pakistan had war over Kashmir. During the war, it was India which first took the
Kashmir dispute to the United Nations on 1st January 1948 and in the following year on 1stJanuary
1949, the UN enforced ceasefire between the two countries (Pakistan Mission To United
Nations).Sixty six years have passed since then and throughout the period Kashmiris have given a lot
of sacrifices. Pakistan s government and leadership today seem eager to find a solution to the issue
with India. Since 1953, more than 150 sessions of talks have been held in vain The Kashmir issue has
remained unresolved till date with people having multiple views regarding the ownership of Kashmir.
Both India and Pakistan wish to make Kashmir a part of their territory because Kashmir has so many
valuable resources such as natural gas and gypsum (Encyclopedia Britannica),so both countries want
to achieve a competitive edge over the other. In addition to this, the identified potential of Hydro

Wonder Woman And The Power Of Watching A Woman Save The
World
Wonder Woman And The Power of Watching A Woman Save The World, by Emma Gray is an article
that argues the emotional impact of having a film about powerful women saving the world. There is a
substantial lack of representation of strong, powerful women in Hollywood movies, until Wonder
Woman was released into theaters. Emma Gray discusses how Wonder Woman fills a hole that many
women never realized they had. She indicates how this film empowered many women and how it
created this emotional outcry for more representation in superhero films. Emma Gray uses personal
story, repetition, and supporting details to effectively persuade women that Wonder Woman is a
compelling example of how representation can make a large group of people feel strong, powerful,
and beautiful all at once.
Emma Gray uses personal story to create a better connection between Wonder Woman and the
audience. By using personal story, Gray is able to achieve her goal of persuading women about the
emotional impact of Wonder Woman. Before the movie started Gray snaps a picture of a woman
standing in front of cardboard cutout of Diana. The woman told Gray, I m 42 years old....I ve been
waiting for this movie for my whole life. This is such a powerful statement that Gray included in her
article because it shows the value of representation. Her personal story demonstrates how women can
now see themselves as Diana and saving the world alongside with other strong women. Diana is from

Network Connectivity Issues Can Crop Up At Any Time
Network connectivity issues can crop up at any time and the issues seen could be related to any area of
the network or Internet that a user is connected. There are several programs that could be used to help
determine where the error or issue may reside. The four programs that will be reviewed are ipconfig,
ping, tracert and nslookup. Ipconfig is a program on Windows systems that show network settings for
the network adaptors on the computer system. Microsoft describes ipconfig as Displays all current
TCP/IP network configuration values and refreshes Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP)
and Domain Name System (DNS) settings ( Ipconfig, n.d.). Running ipconfig without any options will
show the adaptor s IP address, subnet mask and default gateway settings. To gain more information
about the adaptor the /all option should be used (Figure 1). Two items that is important is DCHP
Enabled and the DHCP server. If DHCP Enabled is set to yes, then the IP address is supplied by the
DHCP server. The next program could be used to determine if the host could communicate with the
DHCP server and other hosts or network devices. Ping is used to determine if a host or network device
is reachable on the network. Ping can be thought of like ping pong. The ping command sends out a
request to an IP address and waits for a response. If a host or network device is running, setup to
respond to ping requests and the response is sent within the timeout, then a response

The Effects Of Oceans On The Climate System
Oceans are huge components of the climate system. The big cause for most climate change on Earth is
the atmosphere and the oceans are an essential factor. Even though they do not respond to the climate
changes they do have a role in the climate system. Earth is a big planet with at least 71 percent
covered with water and 96.5 percent is located in the Earth s oceans. There is an extreme interaction
between the atmosphere, ocean and ice. In the past, ocean circulation has strongly impacted the
climate sway of ice ages and oscillations of the circulations could have been the subsequent cause of
some climate variations.
Oceans absorb most of the sun s radiation compared to the atmosphere and land surface. Movement of
the heat through local and global ocean currents affect the regulation of weather and temperature
conditions. Understanding the essentials of the ocean s circulation has advanced during the past
decades and scientist are able to model and find new data on past climates. Oceans move an extensive
amount of heat across the planet in the same amount as the atmosphere. The difference is the oceans
are confined by land masses so its heat is channeled into specific regions. Ocean currents are located
at the surface and 300 meters deep below the water. Currents are powered by wind, tides, the Earth s
circulations, the sun (solar energy) and water density. These characteristics affect the shape, size,
directions and speed of ocean currents.

BP has several weaknesses. Currently they are holding a large percentage of liability. Some of that
liability is due to the Gulf oil spill and the other is tied in the uncertain and sure to fail dealings to get
a foothold in the Russian oil market. Additionally, the Gulf oil spill has marred the reputation of BP to
the United States, BP s largest customer. This has resulted in dwindling sales and halts to new drilling
within the US and its waters. BP also has had a track record for cutting costs that have resulted in two
other large accidental spills only five years ealier. In 2005, a refinery in Texas caught fire and in 2006
a section of the Alaskan pipeline burst (Bryant, 2010). These events showed neglect on the part of BP
and lead to the record sized fine imposed on them.
In regards to opportunities, we see a progressive increase in the price of oil. Although there is an
obvious fluctuation in the price of oil from day to day, the overall trend is a defined increase in the
price of oil. There are also new deposits being discovered. BP has shown through historical experience
that they are willing to take great risks to achieve results. Some may have not gone as planned, but
they have the drive to at least attempt. There current PR state is also open to opportunity. The public
relation state of BP, especially in the United States, is at some of its lowest levels in history. This was

Digital Immigrants And Digital Technology
Technology is advancing and becoming complex in our society, as it propels our daily lives. In
learning environments such as schools, most students are able to acknowledge the learning differences
between themselves and their teachers. These differences occur because a student is more likely to be
a digital native, whereas the teacher is considered to group with digital immigrants. Digital
immigrants are those who are able to understand the relevance of technology, but choose to utilize it
differently. However, digital natives are those who are born in a generation in which technology is at
easy access. Since a digital native s mind is introduced to technology in an earlier stage in life, it
functions differently than a digital immigrant ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Digital immigrants, those who are born in the era of writing letters and finding research from literal
texts find it difficult to adapt to technology (Small, 2001, p. 4) On the other hand; the digital natives
born with technology have incorporated it in their daily routines. Vicky Rideout s study of the amount
of time kids this generation spend on technology shows that children and teenagers ages 8 to 18 are
accustomed to technology that that they on average spend twice as much time with screens each year
(Richtel, 2014, p. 4). The increased amount of time using technology is able to impact the brains
learning manner because it strengthens and tests their mind s ability to perform activities. New York
Times mentions the two surveys done by the Pew Internet Project, and Common Sense Media in San
Francisco. In the Common Sense report, for instance, some teachers said that even though the
attention span of digital natives may not be as great as digital immigrants but the constant use of
technology at home and in class test their brain development and allow them to improve in in subjects
like math and science (Richtel, 2014, p. 21). Including technology in digital natives everyday routine
helps test the brain skills of students. This is also proven true as the University of Vanderbilt

The Importance Of The Roy Acuff Postage Stamps
This paper will analyze and discuss the Roy Acuff commemorative stamp published by the United
States Postal Service in 2003. The designer of the art on the stamp was Richard Sheaff from
Scottsdale, Arizona, and the copyright is 2002. The stamps were issued in Nashville, Tennessee by the
United States Postal Service in a pressure sensitive adhesive pane containing twenty stamps on
September 13, 2003. On September 14, 2003, the stamps were made available for purchase
nationwide at a cost of thirty seven cents per stamp. In total, Avery Dennison printed fifty two million
of these stamps (Smithsonian National Postal Museum, 2003). Roy Acuff, nicknamed King of
Country Music, was one of country music s first icons. He helped establish the Grand Ole Opry as the
United States leading country music venue, and through his position in the music publishing business,
he influenced Nashville, Tennessee s notoriety as the country music capital of the United States
(Smithsonian National Postal Museum, 2003). This paper will look at the prominence of both postage
stamps and Roy Acuff, and the importance of their combination in one commemorative postage
stamp. Postage stamps are an important aspect of American culture, and the Roy Acuff
commemorative postage stamp recognizes the influence he had on our music culture. The research for

Comparing Crime And Punishment By Fyodor Dostoyevsky
The novel Crime and Punishment written by Fyodor Dostoyevsky explores the idea that sin will
continually erode your soul away. The main protagonists are a murderer named Rodion Romanovich
Raskolnikov, and the girl he falls in love with, Sonia Semyonovna Marmeladov. Both Sonia and
Rodion lead very different lives; it is evident how convictions and beliefs guide the way these two
characters live their lives. Sonia believes in the New Testament, and reads it regularly, and also
believes that through faith comes death to the old self, and eternal life through Christ. Sonia s christian
convictions affect her love for people, her self sacrifice, and her firm foundation in Christ. Sonia is

Business Structure Of The United States
Throughout the history of the United States, one salient aspect of business is the corporation, as
evidenced by the formation of the first successful English colony, Jamestown, through the Virginia
Joint Stock Company. Early restricted corporations and small businesses built a society and a new
world, while later corporations crippled their employees and communities. Using Clare International
from Richard Power s Gain as a case study, this paper will establish the status quo of early internal
business structures and the significance of capital in community business relationships. Then, it will
explore how incorporation and growth correlates to a loss of community in internal firm organization
and a loss of shared capital between the company and society.
In the late 18th century, production in America came primarily in the form of small business
enterprise. Each business owner had a strong personal connection with the personnel and trade
associated with their business. Owners of the shops had strong control over their hiring process, and
employed individuals known as apprentices to work for them. These apprentices would work their
way up in the trade shop, until finally moving on. Throughout the process, the apprentices and owners
often bonded intimately, with the apprentice keeping all the master s secrets while the business owner
would often ask the apprentice to eat (and sometimes even board) in their own residence. While not as
intimate in the 19th century, the firm still

prevalence that reading will hold in our society, as well as how our society will adapt and handle the
changes. He also covers the emergence of text to speech and speech to text technological advances,
the effects on society and how the disappearance of the two of them will never fully occur. Sperber s

However, Sperber does stress that there is a strong difference between the writing and reading, and
their relationship with technology. While he states that writing may completely be taken over by
technology, the same could never be done to reading. Most particularly because the two are very
closely linked, yet writing could never exist without reading. The benefits that are present with writing
come mostly from reading, as well as with the fact that as you write, you read along with your words.
Though writing may be replaced at some point in time, reading can never be replaced despite the text
to speech technology.
In particular, he addresses the impact that technology could have, and like writing it involves both
speech and text, yet in the opposite order. This time technology would allow a person to listen to the
text be read to them rather than having to read it themselves. However, Sperber suspects that this is
much less likely than the latter, particularly because most people prefer to read and interpret on their
own. They typically also do not enjoy the voice of the computer, and it is much harder to follow,

The natural environment is, of course, not getting its revenge . Geophysical, meteorological, and
hydrologic processes are unfolding as they have for millennia, beginning long before humans
occupied the earth and continuing to the present. Given the eons long perspective of the natural
environment, it would be very difficult to identify meaningful changes in event frequency for the short
time period in which scientific records are available on geological, meteorological, and hydrological
phenomena. Event frequency, from an emergency management perspective, is not really the issue. It is
certainly true that, over the years, more people have been affected by natural disasters and losses are
becoming progressively greater. The significant feature driving these observations, however, is the
extent of human encroachment into hazard prone areas. With increasing population density and
changing land use patterns, more people are exposed to natural hazards and consequently our
accumulated human and economic losses are increasing. Much of this exposure is a matter of choice.
Sometimes people choose hazardous places, building houses on picturesque cliffs, on mountain
slopes, in floodplains, near beautiful volcanoes, or along seismic faults. Sometimes people choose
hazardous building materials that fail under extreme environmental stresses for example, unreinforced
masonry construction in seismically active areas. Some exposure results from constrained choices; the

Geochromocytoma Research Paper
A pheochromocytoma is a rare, usually benign adrenal tumor. It is approximately five to six
centimeters in diameter and fifty to two hundred grams and occurs equally in both men and women
between the ages of twenty and forty. The adrenal glands are small endocrine glands that distribute the
hormones cortisol and adrenaline. Cortisol is responsible for stress response, homeostasis restoration,
glucose restoration, and for countering insulin. Adrenaline is responsible for keeping heart rate
balance. Though the exact cause of developing a pheochromocytoma is unknown, mutations in genes
that are involved in cell growth such as VHL and NF 1 have been linked to the development.
Pheochromocytomas secrete epinephrine, norepinephrine, and dopamine.

In this passage I do not think Barry Meier, the author supports his claim made in the title. The author
gives all the opposite reasons to support his claim like rats injected with an energy drink can swim
longer than those who don t, another one is if you drink the drink at the right time it can improve your
athletic ability, and taurine, a drug found in energy drinks was given to the Japanese Navy at night to
sharpen eye vision and reduce fatigue. The author gives the wrong reasons to believe that energy
drinks don t work. He gave evidence of a scientific experiment that involves injecting rats with energy
drink and the rats swim longer that the ones who are not injected. The experiment he gave totally goes
against his claim because he saying ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The sugar found in drinks do give a quick boost of energy and totally goes against his claim. The next
example is if you drink the drink at the right time it can improve your athletic ability. Barry Meier also
states ̈Caffeine, a stimulant increases alertness, awareness, and if taken at the right time, improves
athletic performance, studies show ̈. A study shows that all these things can happen if you drink
caffeine. That statement totally throws his claim out because his claim is saying that energy drinks do
not work like they promise. The last example is that the Japanese Imperial Navy were given taurine, a
drug found in some energy drinks so it reduces fatigue and sharpen their eye vision at night. Barry
Meier states in his passage ̈ A formula that is so effective in treating unexplained fevers, neuralgia,
fatigue, whooping cough and other conditions for which there is no drug is very rare needed. ̈ The
drug is used to treat fatigue, which is when people are tired. Taurine helps people get more awake with
less fatigue so it helps people get more energy from it. In conclusion the barry Meier does not get his
claim enough evidence and the wrong evidence to believe that energy drinks don t give you energy.

Four Sandvik jumbos excavate India s first underground crude oil storage cavern
Indian contractor Hindustan Construction Company Ltd is using four Sandvik DT 820 underground
drill rigs to construct the country s first underground crude oil storage cavern, at Vizag in southern
India.
Four Sandvik DT 820 underground jumbo drill rigs are being used for the construction of India s first
underground crude oil storage cavern, located at Visakhapatnam in southern India, with two Sandvik
DX 700 surface drill rigs also being used benching work in the same site.
The cavern is being constructed under a Rs 375 crore (US$75.5 million) contract by Mumbai based
Hindustan Construction Company Ltd (HCC) for Indian Strategic Petroleum Reserves ... Show more

We inspect the hoses and linkages and the drill bits, and oil and lubricate the machines. Our own staff
do this, but Sandvik has an onsite presence and works very closely with our maintenance and
operating teams.
The jumbos were supplied to HCC by Sandvik India, whose senior engineer on site, Harish Pokharkar,
says that spare parts are supplied via the company s Pune headquarters.
The two Sandvik DX 700 surface drill rigs are being used around the two cavern shafts, where they
are undertaking vertical drilling for the benches that are being cut into the hillside.
Mr Pokharkar says that both machines are fitted with 45 mm R32 drill bits, with an R 38 shank
adapter and R 38 and R 32 drifter rods.
The DX 700s are drilling down to depths of 21 m, he says. We have a grinding facility for the drill bits
installed at the site, and we have recorded that by grinding we are achieving 30 percent extra life with
the bits.
We have also ascertained that machine availability has been slightly over 96 percent per month.
The crude oil cavern at Vizag is one of three such caverns planned by the Indian government, with a
storage capacity of five million . Two other caverns will be at Mangalore and Padur, with the crude
designed to act as a buffer in the event of emergencies or disruptions in supply. All three projects will
be operational by 2012.

Overfishing And Degradation Of Our Marine Ecosystems
Research Paper Society has had a major impact on the depletion and degradation of our marine
ecosystems. Overfishing has played a large role in the depletion aspect. If we can learn how
overfishing hurts marine ecosystems, then we can find ways to protect and prevent the depletion of
this resource. This paper will explain the history of overfishing, causes of overfishing, its affect on
marine life and our society, and some possible solutions for prevention and protection. Overfishing of
marine life began to occur in the mid 20th century when there was a need for new sources of
affordable and easily accessed protein rich foods. The solution was fish, which lead to a burst in the
commercial fishing industry with many large ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
(2) This collapse occurred in 1992, and caused one of the worlds most productive fishing grounds to
be extremely over fished. Technology and industry allowed the fishermen to increase the amount of
fish they were able to collect from this area. This increase in the amount of fish they could obtain
eventually bottomed out when they had depleted the resource to excessively without allowing time for
the fish to replace their populations. Because many of the government officials held shares in the cod
industry, they refused to see that the resource was in need of preservation and protection. The fishery
eventually had to be shut down because it was so unsustainable. The creation of large trawlers (fishing
nets created to drag along the bottom of the sea) was a major aspect in the depletion of the Canadian
Newfoundland fishery. These trawlers were brought in by big industries and were able to catch fish at
all times both day and night, collecting extreme amounts. Today studies show that 25% of U.S. fish
stocks are depleted, which has caused many important fisheries to fall apart. (3) Bottoming trawling is
one of the most harmful fishing methods out there. Most bottom trawlers are used to catch fish species
like cod, shrimp, and flounder, which live on the ocean floors. Bottom trawling can also result in other
fish and marine life being collected that were not intended. This process also leads to severe

The Prologue and First Scene of William Shakespeare s...
The Prologue and First Scene of William Shakespeare s Romeo and Juliet This essay will feature how
different directors put the original text of Romeo Juliet into films using their own interpretations. In
the prologue Shakespeare has given an insight into the play similar to a blurb on a book or a film
trailer. The prologue sets the scene, In fair Verona (where we lay our scene), making the play more
believable, as in Shakespeare s time scenery would have been minimal. In Elizabethan theatre the
prologue would have been there to catch the audience and tell them that the play was about to begin,
as well as including general information, two hours traffic of our stage, like how long the ... Show

Many directors have shown their interpretations of Shakespeare s Romeo and Juliet through both stage
and films. Two well known performances of Romeo and Juliet are by Luhrman and Zeffirelli. Baz
Luhrman is one of many directors to show their interpretations of Romeo and Juliet . Luhrman repeats
the prologue three times, in this sense he is trying to achieve the same as Shakespeare: to capture the
audience. Luhrman accomplishes this by the variety of ways in which he portrays the prologue. For
example the first showing of the prologue is a new reader on a television screen, this inclines the
audience to believe important news is coming, it also suggest tragedy. The second time the audience
view the prologue is in a selections of straight cut clips, these are out takes from newspapers, as well
as pictures of the setting and characters. It is very similar to a short film trailer and the audience can
relate to this, also as the shots are quick in concession this catches the viewers eyes. The third viewing
of the prologue is fast black and white subtitles (of the prologue) appearing on the screen, this is there
to make sure the audience got every part of the prologue and to aid understanding. In general the
prologue captures the audience,

The Importance Of Life On Earth
Earth is living and breathing planet, it takes a lot of energy to keep the Earth health, to keep all its
inhabitants functioning. Earth is a special planet because it is the only know planet that can allow life
to thrive. Earth receive a tremendous amount of energy from the Sun, solar energy is necessary for life
on Earth. A planet filled with life needs water, it is one of the essential pieces for all humans, animals,
and plants. Earth is cover primarily by water, a unique substance that keeps life going. Water is unique
in many ways, water is the only liquid found at Earth s surface in large quantities...is readily converted
from one state of matter to another (solid, liquid, gas), and water s solid phase, ice, is less dense than
liquid water (Lutgens 90, 2016). All these unique attributes of water make life on earth easy for all its
inhabitants. On a warm day, a cold drink of water with ice can be refreshing, just like a dip in a cold
late, the same can be said for a warm cup of tea in the middle of the winter. Water moves through
Earth; the process of waters movement is explained by the hydrologic cycle. The hydrologic cycle is
the continuous exchange of water among the oceans, the atmosphere, and the continents. The
hydrologic cycle has several essential parts, evaporation, transportation, and precipitation.
Evaporation is the action of water moving into the atmosphere where it condenses and forms clouds,
moisture is then transported in the atmosphere all over earth

Berkshire Vale Case Study Essay
Throughout the last couple months, spending large amounts of time with your household on Meadow
Vale, I have selected specific issues that should be addressed about your property and my
corresponding recommendations. I have carefully developed these recommendations, in order for your
property to flourish in the upcoming years and to overall improve current procedures being undertaken
at Meadow vale. 1. Managing the Property, Paddocks and Pasture In order to have a successful,
profitable farm the paddocks have to be in ideal conditions, whereas Meadow Vale paddocks are in
dire conditions. In order to maintain and support correct growth and supply abundant food for the
cattle this issue must be addressed. A large contributing factor to this problem is the current soil
quality of the paddocks. High quality pastures need essential minerals in order to obtain optimum
quality pastures and metabolisable protein intake. Meadow vale soil tests have indicated that they are
very deficient in Phosphorous and Sulfur, but this can very easily be fixed with a superphosphate
fertilizer. In order to increase the Olsen P value of 10 12ppm to the target range 18 20pmm and the
current sulfur 5 6ppm to the most favorable value of 15ppm, regular soil tests must be ... Show more

  • 2. How Successful Were The Suffragettes Were the Suffragettes Successful? The Suffragettes were formed by Emmeline Pankhurst in October of 1903 as the Women s Social and Political Union (WSPU) and were essentially a new organisation based on the National Union of Women s Suffrage Societies (NUWSS), whose members were known as Suffragists. The Suffragettes are famous, or rather infamous, for their use of violence. Their motto was, after all, Deeds not Words . Historians still argue today as to how successful they were in their own right, whether it was inevitable for women to get the vote, and, if so, how much of a contribution the Suffragettes really made. Many argue that it was womens effort in the First World War that made the most difference to women obtaining the vote in 1918, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Full electoral equality was not in place until the Representation of the People Act 1928. Both the Suffragettes and the Suffragists celebrated up and down the country; the Act had been achieved after tireless years of campaigning and four years of filling jobs left by men who went to war which, to most, undeniably helped to convince Parliament to greater effect than the extreme activities of the Suffragettes pre WW1. Many agree that the Suffragists efforts also played a very important role, including Joyce Marlow, women s history writer, who wrote in Votes for Women (2000); Some would argue including me that it was the moderates of the NUWSS, led by Millicent Fawcett, who actually won the vote. In 1912, while the militants embarked on arson and bombing, the NUWSS made a successful working alliance with the growing Labour Party. • 3. E Books On The Market Ever since e books arrived on the market, it has been said that it will only be a matter of time before they replace printed books altogether. In recent years the E Book and the ability to purchase copies of an electronic book online has risen in popularity. There are many people who would care if the printed book was replaced by an electronic counterpart. It makes some wonder whether one will replace the other or will they both be able to coexist. Because of the improvement in technology and the increased availability of online books, printed books may become obsolete in the near future. E books were initially conceptualized in 1945 by Vannevar Bush, but it took until the early 2000s for the transition from the printed book to the electronic book to begin. It took ten or so years for the e book to become a part of people s daily lives (Pledger 2010). An e book is nothing but a computer file/electronic copy of printed book that needs a device such as PC or PDA or web, to access and read (Ramaiah 2012). Storage, ease of purchase, portability, price and useful features are just some of the things that draw e book lovers in. E books have a large storage capacity; thousands of books can be stored on one device. Nowadays there are multiple websites to purchase e books from without any hassle. E books can also be seen as more portable than regular printed books. When one book is finished, another can be started right away. They are also lighter printed books. Price is also a ... The meta analysis work of Marzano, Waters and McNulty (2005) discovered the importance of each of these dimensions in relationship to school principals and the successful school environment. Furthermore, principals skill in each of these dimensions has demonstrated a positive correlation to student achievement (Marzano et al.). There were many ways in which swing music and popular culture were interrelated during the time known as the swing era. Jazz became the cornerstone of popular culture during the period known as the swing era. The swing era influenced clothing styles, retail marketing, fashion, dance, and even language. Some of the differences were as follows; Hawkins improvisations were based on his superior knowledge of harmony, Young s were rooted in the blues, Hawkins played with a rhythmic approach that was always closely tied to the beat, and Young s rhythmic conception was much looser, and often untied to the beat. Although they had many differences, they inspired sax players for years to come. 1. The neuro developmental effects of these chemicals are comparatively well known, while their impact on human conduct has yet to be fully comprehended. 2. Goals of the study The main goal of this study was to review all of the placebo controlled single hormone administration studies addressing human social emotional behavior, involving the peptides oxytocin and vasopressin, and the steroids testosterone and estradiol. This research gives insight into the underlying neural mechanisms and also demonstrates substantial hormonal control over human behavior. After reviewing and discussing the placebo controlled studies, they proposed a theoretical model that synthesized detailed knowledge of neuroendocrinology of social emotional behavior in animals, as well as the recently gained data on humans. The study of emotional and behavioral disorders have become more popular in the last twenty years. Characteristics of these irregularities include: learning disabilities that are not explainable by either sensory, health, or intellectual factors; persistently inappropriate feelings and conduct; and/or chronic unhappiness or depression (gadoe.org). The authors of this study thoroughly analyzed the underlying neural mechanisms of supplemental hormones and how they affect participants as opposed to using a placebo. Research into human behavior as it relates to neuroendocrinology will be crucial to future generations and their interrelations. 3. Methods and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

They are more likely to need special education classes later in life, though, and more likely to have to repeat a grade in school. This is most likely because some premature infants have been shown to have some cognitive impairment when compared to full term infants of the same age. Their memories are not as good, and their information processing speed is significantly lower. There have been many studies performed that compare the cognitive performance of preterm infants with full term infants. One study in particular, performed by Susan A. Rose and Judith F. Feldman, tested the memory and the processing speed of preterm children versus full term children at the age of eleven. They used the Colorado Specific Abilities Test, which is a comparison of eight paper and pencil tasks the child must perform. This test showed the degree of these four abilities: memory, perceptual speed, spatial ability, and verbal ability. They also used the Cognitive Abilities Test (CAT) which is a detailed exam of memory and speed. The holocaust was a span of quite some time from January 30, 1933 to May 8, 1945. After liberation many Jewish survivors feared to return to their former homes because of the antisemitism (hatred of Jews) that persisted in parts of Europe and the trauma they had suffered. Some who returned home feared for their lives. In postwar Poland, for example, there were a number of pogroms (violent anti Jewish riots). • 12. Essay On Translocation To Mitochondria In the critical experiment for this grant proposal, we observed that DJ 1 Cys 106 SO3 (Figs. 3, 4; Table 1) contributes to DJ 1 translocation to mitochondria (Fig. 9). Interestingly, we found that first, NHEJ 1 is also shifted to these organelles and second, it interacts with DJ 1 in mitochondria (Fig. 7). We hypothesize that posttranslational modifications of DJ 1 lead to its interaction with NHEJ 1 in these organelles. This may result in the impairment of mtDNA damage repair. To further study the mechanism of this interaction, we will use tandem mass spectrometry (QTOF, letter attached, Fig. 8) as a suitable method for enabling site mapping and quantification of chemical modifications of proteins. We will also analyze fission and fusion and mitophagy as described in SA#1.1.2. Additionally, we will measure the kinetics of cytosolic mtDNA release, which is a marker of mitochondrial injury, using RT PCR in cytosolic fractions obtained from A549 cells with DJ 1 knockout or overexpression in comparison with control. We anticipate that DJ 1 knockout will impair mitochondrial dynamics, exaggerate mtDNA damage and mitophagy, and increase ROS formation and cell apoptosis. DJ 1 overexpression will provide cytoprotection and will rescue of A549 cell injury induced by mt OX. Alternative approaches: We do not expect any problems with this SA. The regiment falls under the command of the 2nd Marine Division of the II Marine Expeditionary Force. In 1917, the 6TH Marine Regiment was ativated on 11 July at Marine Corps Base Quantico, Virginia to fight in World War I1. In early 1918, 6TH Marine Regiment joined the 5TH Marine Regiment and the 6TH Machine Gun Battalion to form the 4TH Brigade. In March of 1918 near Verdun the Marine Brigade entered th trenches of the Toulon Sector, where the regiment suffered its first combat casualties1. When her dad is given a case to defend a black man, she gets thrown into a world where racism has been the norm. She hasn t been exposed to something like this, so she is confused, but she grows more mature in that time. She and Jem both come of age in different ways in the story and get a taste of the real world. Scout and Jem both show maturation throughout the book. Their father s decision to defend a black man opens them up to the harsh world of racism and prejudice, meanwhile he shows them how to be compassionate to people and not to follow the norm. The reason To Kill A Mockingbird is a great coming of age story is that it lifts Scout and Jem out of the racist society norms and asks them to be more and model their father s behavior. The book also allows for us to get a glimpse into the nineteenth century world and the society in which this novel was written in. Like most novels, Frankenstein was deeply influenced by the society in which it was written in. Ideas such as romanticism and post enlightenment are seen throughout the work and have a great impact upon the book. Now the story of Frankenstein is legendary and everyone knows something about the book but most people probably know about the Hollywood version of the story, there is no Egor in the book he was added into the movies to add a comedic side to this horror and bleak story. Mary Shelley uses romanticism and enlightenment along with horror to create a masterpiece of a novel. Frankenstein was released during a time in European history that was quite peaceful. Napoleon had been exiled for the second time. The Congress of Vienna had restored monarchies in Europe that basically keep the peace in this time period. There are several programs that could be used to help determine where the error or issue may reside. The four programs that will be reviewed are ipconfig, ping, tracert and nslookup. Ipconfig is a program on Windows systems that show network settings for the network adaptors on the computer system. Microsoft describes ipconfig as Displays all current TCP/IP network configuration values and refreshes Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP) and Domain Name System (DNS) settings ( Ipconfig, n.d.). If DHCP Enabled is set to yes, then the IP address is supplied by the DHCP server. The next program could be used to determine if the host could communicate with the DHCP server and other hosts or network devices. Ping is used to determine if a host or network device is reachable on the network. Ping can be thought of like ping pong. The big cause for most climate change on Earth is the atmosphere and the oceans are an essential factor. Even though they do not respond to the climate changes they do have a role in the climate system. Earth is a big planet with at least 71 percent covered with water and 96.5 percent is located in the Earth s oceans. There is an extreme interaction between the atmosphere, ocean and ice. In the past, ocean circulation has strongly impacted the climate sway of ice ages and oscillations of the circulations could have been the subsequent cause of some climate variations. Oceans absorb most of the sun s radiation compared to the atmosphere and land surface. Movement of the heat through local and global ocean currents affect the regulation of weather and temperature conditions. Understanding the essentials of the ocean s circulation has advanced during the past decades and scientist are able to model and find new data on past climates. Oceans move an extensive amount of heat across the planet in the same amount as the atmosphere. The difference is the oceans are confined by land masses so its heat is channeled into specific regions. Ocean currents are located at the surface and 300 meters deep below the water. Business Structure Of The United States Throughout the history of the United States, one salient aspect of business is the corporation, as evidenced by the formation of the first successful English colony, Jamestown, through the Virginia Joint Stock Company. Early restricted corporations and small businesses built a society and a new world, while later corporations crippled their employees and communities. Using Clare International from Richard Power s Gain as a case study, this paper will establish the status quo of early internal business structures and the significance of capital in community business relationships. Then, it will explore how incorporation and growth correlates to a loss of community in internal firm organization and a loss of shared capital between the company and society. In the late 18th century, production in America came primarily in the form of small business enterprise. Each business owner had a strong personal connection with the personnel and trade associated with their business. Owners of the shops had strong control over their hiring process, and employed individuals known as apprentices to work for them. These apprentices would work their way up in the trade shop, until finally moving on. Luhrmann s version changes who starts the street fight because in Zefferelli s version the Capulets start the fight by tripping the Montagues while in Luhrmann s version the Montagues start the fight on accident and are afraid so they fight instead. Zeffirelli s version of Romeo and Juliet is the better version because it focuses more on the original play like the setting dialogue and characters, which enhances the movie because it gives a more nostalgic ... • 37. Dan Sperber s Article The Future of Writing In Dan Sperber s article The Future of Writing, he assesses the presence of writing and reading in our society, as well as where it may lie in the future . He addresses the possible downfall of writing, the prevalence that reading will hold in our society, as well as how our society will adapt and handle the changes. He also covers the emergence of text to speech and speech to text technological advances, the effects on society and how the disappearance of the two of them will never fully occur. Sperber s main claim throughout the article is that writing, with the help of technology, may eventually cease to exist, or at least be far less prominent . While writing has obtained a unique and prominent standing in most places of the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... However, Sperber does stress that there is a strong difference between the writing and reading, and their relationship with technology. While he states that writing may completely be taken over by technology, the same could never be done to reading. Most particularly because the two are very closely linked, yet writing could never exist without reading. The benefits that are present with writing come mostly from reading, as well as with the fact that as you write, you read along with your words. Though writing may be replaced at some point in time, reading can never be replaced despite the text to speech technology. In particular, he addresses the impact that technology could have, and like writing it involves both speech and text, yet in the opposite order. This time technology would allow a person to listen to the text be read to them rather than having to read it themselves. However, Sperber suspects that this is much less likely than the latter, particularly because most people prefer to read and interpret on their own. They typically also do not enjoy the voice of the computer, and it is much harder to follow, especially due to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The natural environment is, of course, not getting its revenge . Geophysical, meteorological, and hydrologic processes are unfolding as they have for millennia, beginning long before humans occupied the earth and continuing to the present. Given the eons long perspective of the natural environment, it would be very difficult to identify meaningful changes in event frequency for the short time period in which scientific records are available on geological, meteorological, and hydrological phenomena. Event frequency, from an emergency management perspective, is not really the issue. It is certainly true that, over the years, more people have been affected by natural disasters and losses are becoming progressively greater. The significant feature driving these observations, however, is the extent of human encroachment into hazard prone areas. With increasing population density and changing land use patterns, more people are exposed to natural hazards and consequently our accumulated human and economic losses are increasing. Much of this exposure is a matter of choice. Sometimes people choose hazardous places, building houses on picturesque cliffs, on mountain slopes, in floodplains, near beautiful volcanoes, or along seismic faults. Sometimes people choose hazardous building materials that fail under extreme environmental stresses for example, unreinforced masonry construction in seismically active areas. Some exposure results from constrained choices; the cheap land or ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

It is approximately five to six centimeters in diameter and fifty to two hundred grams and occurs equally in both men and women between the ages of twenty and forty. The adrenal glands are small endocrine glands that distribute the hormones cortisol and adrenaline. Cortisol is responsible for stress response, homeostasis restoration, glucose restoration, and for countering insulin. Adrenaline is responsible for keeping heart rate balance. Though the exact cause of developing a pheochromocytoma is unknown, mutations in genes that are involved in cell growth such as VHL and NF 1 have been linked to the development. The two Sandvik DX 700 surface drill rigs are being used around the two cavern shafts, where they are undertaking vertical drilling for the benches that are being cut into the hillside. Mr Pokharkar says that both machines are fitted with 45 mm R32 drill bits, with an R 38 shank adapter and R 38 and R 32 drifter rods. The DX 700s are drilling down to depths of 21 m, he says. We have a grinding facility for the drill bits installed at the site, and we have recorded that by grinding we are achieving 30 percent extra life with the bits. We have also ascertained that machine availability has been slightly over 96 percent per month. The crude oil cavern at Vizag is one of three such caverns planned by the Indian government, with a storage capacity of five million . Two other caverns will be at Mangalore and Padur, with the crude designed to act as a buffer in the event of emergencies or disruptions in supply. All three projects will be operational by 2012. Box

Overfishing has played a large role in the depletion aspect. If we can learn how overfishing hurts marine ecosystems, then we can find ways to protect and prevent the depletion of this resource. This paper will explain the history of overfishing, causes of overfishing, its affect on marine life and our society, and some possible solutions for prevention and protection. Overfishing of marine life began to occur in the mid 20th century when there was a need for new sources of affordable and easily accessed protein rich foods. The solution was fish, which lead to a burst in the commercial fishing industry with many large ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... (2) This collapse occurred in 1992, and caused one of the worlds most productive fishing grounds to be extremely over fished. Technology and industry allowed the fishermen to increase the amount of fish they were able to collect from this area. This increase in the amount of fish they could obtain eventually bottomed out when they had depleted the resource to excessively without allowing time for the fish to replace their populations. Because many of the government officials held shares in the cod industry, they refused to see that the resource was in need of preservation and protection. The fishery eventually had to be shut down because it was so unsustainable. The creation of large trawlers (fishing nets created to drag along the bottom of the sea) was a major aspect in the depletion of the Canadian Newfoundland fishery. These trawlers were brought in by big industries and were able to catch fish at all times both day and night, collecting extreme amounts. Today studies show that 25% of U.S. fish stocks are depleted, which has caused many important fisheries to fall apart. (3) Bottoming trawling is one of the most harmful fishing methods out there. Most bottom trawlers are used to catch fish species like cod, shrimp, and flounder, which live on the ocean floors. Bottom trawling can also result in other fish and marine life being collected that were not intended. This process also leads to severe ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Prologue and First Scene of William Shakespeare s Romeo and Juliet This essay will feature how different directors put the original text of Romeo Juliet into films using their own interpretations. The prologue sets the scene, In fair Verona (where we lay our scene), making the play more believable, as in Shakespeare s time scenery would have been minimal. Luhrman repeats the prologue three times, in this sense he is trying to achieve the same as Shakespeare: to capture the audience. Luhrman accomplishes this by the variety of ways in which he portrays the prologue. For example the first showing of the prologue is a new reader on a television screen, this inclines the audience to believe important news is coming, it also suggest tragedy. The second time the audience view the prologue is in a selections of straight cut clips, these are out takes from newspapers, as well as pictures of the setting and characters. Earth is a special planet because it is the only know planet that can allow life to thrive. Earth receive a tremendous amount of energy from the Sun, solar energy is necessary for life on Earth. A planet filled with life needs water, it is one of the essential pieces for all humans, animals, and plants. Earth is cover primarily by water, a unique substance that keeps life going. Water is unique in many ways, water is the only liquid found at Earth s surface in large quantities...is readily converted from one state of matter to another (solid, liquid, gas), and water s solid phase, ice, is less dense than liquid water (Lutgens 90, 2016). All these unique attributes of water make life on earth easy for all its inhabitants. On a warm day, a cold drink of water with ice can be refreshing, just like a dip in a cold late, the same can be said for a warm cup of tea in the middle of the winter. Water moves through Earth; the process of waters movement is explained by the hydrologic cycle. The hydrologic cycle is the continuous exchange of water among the oceans, the atmosphere, and the continents. The hydrologic cycle has several essential parts, evaporation, transportation, and precipitation. Evaporation is the action of water moving into the atmosphere where it condenses and forms clouds, moisture is then transported in the atmosphere all over earth ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

I have carefully developed these recommendations, in order for your property to flourish in the upcoming years and to overall improve current procedures being undertaken at Meadow vale. 1. Managing the Property, Paddocks and Pasture In order to have a successful, profitable farm the paddocks have to be in ideal conditions, whereas Meadow Vale paddocks are in dire conditions. In order to maintain and support correct growth and supply abundant food for the cattle this issue must be addressed. A large contributing factor to this problem is the current soil quality of the paddocks. High quality pastures need essential minerals in order to obtain optimum quality pastures and metabolisable protein intake. Meadow vale soil tests have indicated that they are very deficient in Phosphorous and Sulfur, but this can very easily be fixed with a superphosphate fertilizer. In order to increase the Olsen P value of 10 12ppm to the target range 18 20pmm and the current sulfur 5 6ppm to the most favorable value of 15ppm, regular soil tests must be ...
