The Advantages And Disadvantages Of Pypendop And Verstegen
Pypendop and Verstegen.(2000) have reported in a laser Doppler study on intestinal and skeletal, but
not renal cortical micro vascular perfusion was reduced by intramuscular medetomidine in dogs
anesthetized with isoflurane. Medetomidine premedication via intramuscular increased the CNS
uptake of a lipophilic tracer during brain perfusion imaging in healthy dogs, leading the to postulate
that the central distribution of the tracer have been enhanced as a consequence of a lower
proportionate decrease incentral nervous system( CNS) perfusion when compared to peripheral tissues
(Waelbers et al., 2011). likewise, intravenous dexmedetomidine reduced cerebral oxygen transport

(2000) have correlated the clinical effects of medetomidine and dexmedetomidine in dogs and
reported little difference in their cardiovascular effects. Like medetomidine, dexmedetomidine has no
direct effect on the myocardium (Flackeet al., 1992). Similarly, equipotent intravenous doses of
dexmedetomidine and medetomidine have minimal effects on ventilation in dogs (Kuuselaet al.,
2000).Marked vasoconstriction and hypertension are initially seen in dogs followed almost
immediately by baroreflex mediated bradycardia(Bloor et al., 1992). Consequently, the cardiac index
and oxygen delivery decreases as systemic vascular resistance and central venous pressure are
increased (Flackeet al., 1993). In denervated dogs, different administration regimens led to typical
cardiovascular changes that were readily antagonized by atipamazole. Kuuselaet al. (2000) and
Kuuselaet al.(2001) havereported frequent first degree and occasional second degree atrioventricular
blocks accompanied by accentuated sinus arrhythmia and prolonged sinus pauses after both
medetomidine and dexmedetomidine administration. Any electrical abnormalities of ventricular origin
have been infrequently reported. All the changes in the ECGs resolve spontaneously and 24 hour aflter
monitoring performed after dexmedetomidine/ medetomidine sedation in healthy beagle dogs revealed
no sustained arrhythmias (Kuuselaet al., 2002). Although the central and peripheral effects on

What Is The Meaning Of Double Effect
The meaning of double of effect can be quite controversial. The principle of double effect teaches that
one might perform a good action even if foreseen that a bad effect might occur (Becker, n.d).
However, this is based on four principles which involves that the action has to be good itself, that the
bad result was not directly intended, that the good result is not a direct casual result from the bad
result, and that the good result is proportionate to the bad result (Becker, n.d). In this case of the
pregnant patient with uterus cancer, from a deontologist perspective, it would be the duty of the doctor
to try to save both lives but in case where it is impossible to save both lives, the doctor would save the
live that could be saved and that

Studies on China Economy
Victor Alberto Han Zou
2014059013 The Transition and Opening up and Growth of the Service Sector of China
Abstract
The objective of this paper is to show the transition of China from an economy dominated by the
manufacturing to a more stable economy dominated by services. In recent years, many people were
thinking about why the GDP (gross domestic product) of China has drop drastically from 11% to 7%.
Well, that is an intentional cooling down that the country is doing to make the transition from
industrial to service sector also known as tertiary industry . Through many years, the industrial sector
was the one that contributed more to the GDP of the country; but now, China is changing this to a
more stable and sustainable economy by opening up its service sector and the 12th Five Year Plan of
China (2011 2015) is helping to accomplish this task. In 2013, for the first time of the history the
service sector overpass the industrial sector in the contribution to the GDP.
Key words: Transition, Gross Domestic Product, Industrial Sector, Tertiary Industry, and Sustainable
Economy.
I. Introduction
Since 1978 when Deng Xiaoping took away the centrally planned economy and introduced the
capitalistic market reform, China has witnessed tremendous transitions and growth. This tremendous
growth lasted for 30 years. Between 1983 and 2013, the GDP of China has an annual grow of 10.2%.
Also, China has transformed from a sleeping rural, to a giant

A History Of The World In 6 Glasses Essay
Paulina Korzyk July 1st, 2014
A History of the World in Six Glasses: Guided Reading Q A
Introduction Vital Fluids 1.) What is the author s main thesis (argument) in setting up his book?
Why/how are these fluids vital ? The author wants to show that beverages had a great impact on
history. He wants to tell his
readers that drinks have had a greater impact on history than normally recognized. The fluids are
vital because without them, humans wouldn t have accomplished so much. Fluids allowed people to
farm, think, trade, and survive. Beer in Mesopotamia and Egypt (Chapters 1 2)

2.) In the 18th century, how did spirits change the balance of power amongst the western European
nations (particularly Britain and France) ?
In Britain, the knowledge of spirits allowed British sailors to have an advantage over French
sailors. The British sailors were given grog, a spirit mixed with lime juice. This drink contained
vitamin
C, which made the sailors resistant to scurvy. On the other hand, the French sailors were given a
different type of drink that contained no vitamin C. They were not protected from the disease.
3.) How did spirits help in the building and shaping of early America (politically and economically) ?
Spirits helped build and shape America through trade. Rum played a big role in the triangular
trade between Africa, Europe, and North America. By trading rum, money and goods were brought
into the country.
Coffee in the Age of Reason (Chapters 7 8)
1.) Why did coffee become known to Europeans as the antithesis of alcohol ?
Coffee became known as the antithesis of alcohol because unlike alcohol, it allowed people
to stay alert. It also aided people in thinking clearly.
2.) Was coffee the first true global beverage ? Why or why not ? Coffee was the first true global
beverage because it was allowed to be consumed by people of
all religions. Unlike beer and spirits, Muslims were allowed to drink coffee. In Europe,

Essay On Bartleby The Race And Araby Counterpart
Three critical essays that presented strong approaches to Joyce s stories are Counterparts, After the
Race, and Araby. The critical approach for Joyce s Counterparts named Farrington the Scrivener: A
Story of Dame Street by Morris Beja compared Farrington to that of Herman Melville s short story
Bartleby the Scrivener: A Story of Wall Street (1853). While Melville s Bartleby was ambitious, Joyce
s Farrington was quite the opposite, an anti Bartleby, with physicality, ambition, and how they handle
themselves with violence (Beja 319). Despite these representations, Beja makes a point to say that
Joyce forces readers to understand Farrington. Beja, however, wants to make the literary criticism s
reader to realize our own kinship with him, but most of us are readier to identify with his son, or even
with Bartleby (Beja 320). Then, Beja begins to find their similarities, including their defiance toward
their bosses. Beja stated that the comparison may suggest a similar forces are present in their lives
which may be hard to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This coping mechanism is ruinous and irrational, but many people make decisions that are irrational in
stressful situations in which they cannot escape. This brings the reader closer to Farrington as Beja
wanted. It is further important to understanding Farrington as the irrational, vengeance filled character
he is. Through this analysis, he becomes a more relatable character. The second approach written by
James Fairhall ( Big Power Politics and Colonial Economics: The Gordon Bennett Cup Race and After
the Race ) delved into the economic and political issues that the cup and each of the men represented
throughout the night after the race. The criticism ultimately decides that when Ireland was involved
with international powers in a competition, the Irish would not win (Fairhall

Introduction The prophecy of the Temple in Ezekiel 40 48 is said to be one of the most difficult
portion of scripture. Many commentators have proposed varying views and approaches. It has even
been reported that the Jews do not allow anyone to read it until they are 30 years of age.
[footnoteRef:1]Despite this difficulty, it is a vital portion of scripture necessary to the understanding
of the Messiah and the principle of salvation. Accordingly, this discussion will examine both the literal
and figurative interpretations of this vision to show their strengths and weaknesses in light of the New
Testament and the coming of Jesus Christ the messiah. [1: Matthew Henry, Commentary on Ezekiel

Section 1: Ezekiel?s Temple: Literal or Figurative
In an attempt to understand this portion of scripture it is necessary to ask: to whom was this vision
directed, during what period was this vision given, and for what purpose was the vision given in order
for organization and context. In Ezekiel 40: 4, Ezekiel was instructed to ??declare all that thou seest to
the house of Israel.? As such, the

Walt Disney s Influence On The Entertainment Industry
Walt Disney was a very influential man to the entertainment industry. He made animation a whole
new type of entertainment. Although Walt went through many struggles and problems, he pushed on
and eventually saw results for all his hard work. Many hardships got in Disney s way such as
unsupportive parents and even bankruptcy; Walt pushed on through, always creating, working hard,
and persevering to accomplish his dream. Walter Elias Disney was born on December 5, 1901, in
Chicago, Illinois. His father, Elias, was a carpenter when Walt was born. Eventually, Elias and his
wife, Flora, saved up enough money to start a home building company together. Walter had four
siblings: Roy, Herbert, Raymond, and Ruth (Russell 9). Because Ruth was younger than Walt, Walt
waited until the age of seven to start school so that he could start at the same time as Ruth. Before he
went to school, his mother, Flora, taught him how to read (Russell 10). Walt grew up on the Disney
family farm and worked hard on the farm. He worked at the neighbor s farm raising corn, wheat,
barley, cows, pigs, and chickens (Giltin 18). Later, Elias grew sick, and the Disney s had to sell the
farm. They moved to Kansas City (Russell 11). Throughout Walter s schooling, he loved to be on
stage directing, producing, and being on stage (Russell 11). Many things inspired Walt Disney s
creativity: moving, roaming, playing in the farmyard, fishing, doodling in class, and editing the school

When I was in preschool I liked being read nursery rhymes because I still didn t know how to read yet.
I really liked when we would sing. I would sing the songs for the rest of the day. I guess that s all I

there was a center where you could listen to the books. I really liked to go listen to the books so that

Reasons for the Gap between Social Classes in America
USA is a very big country with a lot of people and the social classes are very important. We can see
that social class plays big part of people s life. Everyday people are working, studying, trying to be
better. Even though right now it s time when everyone has many opportunities in his life, anyway
there is a gap between classes and groups of people with same features. And your background
probably will build your future. And we need to find what kind of class we have right now and look
into these classes. The main idea is that Social Classes still exist and it s most general part of U.S.A
society. There are three reasons why gap between groups still exist. The first reason is that everyone
has different economic status. People divide by groups with same ideas, religion, economic status,
political views, and cultural features. For example in U.S.A we have poor people, very rich people,
and kind of middle people and we can t say that these families are same. People from each group have
different opportunities in education, medicine, and job. If you are from rich family you have more
chance to be succeed in this world, for you it will be much easier unlike someone from poor family.
The children from rich families will get best college or university degree, will find good job, and will
learn how to be rich from their parents. Money for now is very powerful tool in your hand, with
money we can go to our dreams. The statistic shows us that most of people while whole

maintain homeostasis. The circadian rhythm can manifest in mental alertness, the sensitivity to pain,
various hormone secretions, and most obviously, the sleep wake cycle. In Latin, circadian rhythm
translates to about and day . Examples of circadian rhythms in action are sensitivity and dullness to

Job Proverbs, Ecclesiastes And
The books of Wisdom : Job, Psalms, Proverbs, Ecclesiastes and Song of Songs are hugely different
from the preceding books of history. They focus on raising questions about God, creation itself,
humanity and the essence of evil and suffering. In Job, we see one of the most famous individuals in
the Old Testament. His continual struggles and trials cause him to call out to God for answers, and he
receives one in Job 40:2 Shall the one who contends with the Almighty correct Him?He who rebukes
God, let him answer it. It s hard to read of Job s suffering and crying out to God without questioning
why God would let him suffer, but it does show us the peace that can be found in recognizing God s
sovereignty. In Psalms, we see a collection of lyrical poetry, songs and prayers. Many of these were
written by King David himself. The book covers almost the entire gamut of human emotion, from
sorrow to joy, from doubt to faith. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For example, in Proverbs 10:4 5, we see that working hard will lead us to a better life, but slacking off
will cause us shame. In Ecclesiastes: we have Solomon s (generally agreed upon to be the author)
analysis of life. It seems cynical, but overall the message of the book is hope in God. In Ecclesiastes
12:13 14 we get Solomon s basic lesson to those who are seeking a full and abundant life Let us hear
the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God and keep His commandments, For this is man s all. For
God will bring every work into judgment, Including every secret thing,Whether good or evil. In Song
of Songs, we see another lyrical, poetic book. This book is only one of two in the Bible that do not
mention God directly. It gives us an insight on how love, marriage and even sex are to be viewed and
practiced in a loving Christian home. Some people view this book as an allegorical view of Christ s
love for his

How Did The Indians Culture Affect The Lakota Culture
The Lakota Indians had the sad and unfortunate luck of becoming personally acquainted with the
westward thrust of American development when the Americans attitudes toward Indians had grown
cynical and cruel. This interaction caused the Lakota culture to change a great deal during the
nineteenth century. Horses and guns brought about a dramatic change in the Lakota s culture. They
enabled them to seize and defend their rich hunting grounds, to follow the great migrating herds of
buffalo that shaped their distinctive way of life, and by the middle of the nineteenth century to evolve
into the proud and powerful monarchs of the northern Great Plains (R6). They acquired their first
horses and guns, along with the knowledge of how to handle ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

quickly brought an end to the Indians. There was much significance surrounding Sittings Bull s death.

Military History
The military, in modern times, has many purposes. These forces are given high powered weapons and
granted the authorization to use deadly force, while being tasked with carrying out orders from their
government and protecting its interests. Armed forces are also sometimes called upon to promote
political agendas, guard economic interests, enact population control, and conduct emergency services
or construction. Any history of armed conflict is considered to be military history, however, the
profession of being a soldier is older than said recorded history. As seen throughout this history, when
the military goes unchecked by its government or citizens, some terrible and unlawful acts may occur.

Theatre in the Community Essay
Theatre in the Community
Britain in 1979 was a place of great change and division. Although the country had united in the
election of Margaret Thatcher as the first
Conservative woman Prime minister by the early 1980 s one could say that the country was spiralling
into a state of decline. This was largely due to the disarray of the previous Labour government and the
implementation of the Conservative government s robust style of economic management.
All spheres of social and cultural life were to be judged on their economic terms and values. This is
particularly true within the Arts.
In Politics of Performance Baz Kershaw describes how, Private enterprise was to replace public

Therefore, many small town theatre companies began to establish themselves as small community
groups, basing most of their performance around local issues and issues that were not necessarily
covered in mainstream.
Although established prior to 1979 many small theatre companies came into their own at this period.
Having initially established themselves as small community groups in the early 1970 s by the end of
the decade they soon found themselves becoming small community theatre groups. An example of
such small groups can be seen in 1974 where there began to emerge a small number of theatre groups
who were more political than aesthetic in their orientation. Most of these such groups were more or
less comfortable with the term agit prop to describe their work, although the only company actually to
adopt the name soon changed it to Red Ladder , which was among the first to take its shows to factory

The Balkan Peninsula, Or The Balkans, Is A Peninsula And
The Balkan Peninsula, or the Balkans, is a peninsula and a cultural area in Southeastern Europe with
various and disputed borders. It is often analyzed by its sub regions, including northern, western,
eastern and southern European areas. Many of these areas are highly developed, but some are also
currently experiencing economic, political and / or social problems. However, two particular nations
in Balkans illustrates this paradox quite effectively. These two countries are Albania and Romania, and
these are nations that have realized their potential in most ways, yet today they are facing significant
economic and socio political issues. The two nations are both members of the North Atlantic Treaty

Albanian language is a treasure of the country. It is the most ancient language in Europe and it belongs
to the group of Indo European language, but with its own branch, and with no similarities to other
languages in the whole world. Many people when they hear me speaking in Albanian, constantly think
it is either Slavic or French. While the Romanian language is also a language that belongs to the group
of Indio European, but is it in the same branch as Italian language, Spanish or Portuguese. As shown
above, in terms of the language, although these two countries have Indio European language, they
have no similarities between each other at all.
Regarding the religion, Albania is one of the countries where the people of different religions live in
harmony together and no extremism is seen in this aspect. Back in times, Albanian people believed in
Christianity . However, after the Turkish invasion, the majority of them where turned into Muslims;

Native Americans And Native American Children
Imagine sitting in your lounge on day, sipping away your coffee with the people you love the most.
Suddenly, someone smacks open your door and claim it to be his/her house and takes away your
family to teach them to live the right away . How would you feel? Similarly, Native Americans were
victimized when Europeans came to the America. But this is one point of view, and there is another
perspective to understand here as well. This issues needs to be addressed in a way that puts forth the
ideologies of both the Native Americans and the European authorities that took over. Upon the arrival
of the Europeans in the US and their attempt to overtake land from the Native Americans, various
movements took place. One of them was the establishment of boarding schools for Native American
children s. They claimed to offer modern English education for better future, as opposed to their
cultural schools. Children were forcefully taken away from their families to boarding schools where
they were forced to cut their hair, pick an English name and even forced to convert to Christianity.
Since, Native children were not familiar with English language; they had trouble understanding the
norms and what was being taught. Children often showed resistance when they were asked to give up
their local practices and lifestyle. Some practices instilled fear American Indian children as they had
deep meanings in their culture. Like cutting hair was a symbol for death and mourning. Some

Jiro Horikoshi, a young Japanese boy, he wants to become an airplane pilot but cannot become one

Comparing Bram Stoker’s Dracula and the 1972 Film...
Bram Stoker s Dracula is not only a classic story of men and monsters, but a dramatic reactionary
work to the perceived threats to Victorian society in nineteenth century England. In modern times
there have been many film adaptations of the novel, each developing a unique analysis or criticism of
the literary text within the framework of the society and time period in which it was created. The 1972
film Blacula is one of the most culturally specific variations on the story of Dracula, and highlights
many of the themes and messages found in Stoker s original text. Among the primary similarities
between the novel and the film is the portrayal of race, sexuality, nationality, and culture, and the
characterization in each work speaks to the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Dracula is of mixed racial heritage and blood in the whirlpool of European races, a concept which
would have been fearful to the novel s white, upper class English audience. This widespread
xenophobia, a fear and hatred of foreigners, was a reaction by Victorian England to the perceived
threat of outsiders to white genetic purity. Dracula s real threat is not in the physical destruction of
Western Europe, but in the assimilation, reproduction, and infestation caused by the literal and
figurative mixing of his barbarian animal blood with that of the superior English race. The concept of
eugenics, the qualitative and quantitative improvement of the human genome (Galton 99), gained
widespread popularity during Stoker s lifetime and became a prevalent theme in the works of many
authors aiming to make a social commentary or criticism on the invasion of England by foreign
peoples. Adolph Hitler would later adopt eugenic ideals in the intended creation of a master race, one
which victimized many of the same groups and relied upon almost identical anti Semitic imagery as
the earlier Victorian proponents (Hauner 15). Race is a key element in the movie Blacula, in which the
film s eponymous villain is an ancient African prince cursed by Count Dracula to walk the earth for
eternity in search of human blood. Blacula is literally and metaphorically an updated version of the

The Psychological Factors That Influence The Way People Think
Introduction:
Discrimination is a huge and delicate topic in the world today, but first, discrimination needs to be
explained. There are many psychological factors that influence the way people think. The way
individuals think causes the thoughts of discrimination; therefore, an individual s psychological
makeup will determine their view of others. Discrimination is the unjust or prejudicial treatment of
different categories of people or things, especially on the grounds of race, age, or sex (Social
Psychology Racism).
In order to truly understand discrimination, one must know where and how it starts. Discrimination
starts at a young age. Children are the future, and everything the see and learn in their upbringing
influences them forever. The ways of discrimination that they learn can transfer into many
condescending and secretive ways or can transpire into a bold topic.
Discriminating against an individual or a specific group of individuals can truly cause those
individuals to have psychological problems, which is why this issue is so wide spread and is
considered a worldwide issue. If the human race finds a way to get rid of discrimination all together
the world would be a better place. Judgments should be made based on known facts rather than on
false information. It is for this reason that has led to intriguing question of why individuals think in a
discriminatory manner, and act the way they do, and how humans as a race can fix the problem.
There are many outsides

was for the purpose of protecting athletes, not controlling the market. In summation, antitrust laws
prevent only unreasonable restraints of trade, which is based upon the circumstances of the restriction.
Goals of Antitrust Law
Antitrust laws are meant to protect competition in markets. They try to ensure that all individuals have
an equally opportunity in honest competition. Early in the nation s history, there was widespread fear
of the dangers of monopolies and other restrictions on competition. In 1890, Congress passed the
Sherman Antitrust Act to prevent limits on competition caused by private parties. Thus the main goal
of antitrust law is to preserve economic freedom and a free enterprise system. Specifically, it attempts
to preserve the freedom to compete for businesses. In a practical sense, antitrust laws are seeking to
prevent burdens on competition in the marketplace.
Damages in Antitrust Lawsuits Antitrust plaintiffs have many different remedies available to them
under Federal antitrust law. Plaintiffs can receive damages for any loss they sustained from the
antitrust activity. For example, if an antitrust activity prevented a salesperson from conducting their
normal profession then that person would likely be able to recover damages for that loss. In antitrust
law, plaintiffs receive treble damages,

In the sectioned of the pamphlet entitled Superiority of mixed races , Brazil was believed to be a
country where the people were miscegenated, to further support the idea of mixing in the United
States. However, the attitudes of race mixing in both countries were significantly different. Brazil has
always been a black and mixed blood populated society, whereas the United States had always been
white blood dominated compared to its black population. This paper will compare the differences of
race mixing in the United States and Brazil after the American Civil War.
First and foremost, it is important to differentiate the perception of black and white race mixing in
both the United States and Brazil. In the United States, the offspring produced between blacks and
whites are considered black. However, the status of a child produced by a white mother is typically
reflected by the status of the mother. Degler revealed that, From this perspective, the most feared
combination in unions between blacks and whites was the one in which the white women married a
black men . This is because during slavery, when a slave owner would impregnate his female slaves,
the children of the slave would also become a slave, but if the mother is white, it is very unlikely that
the child would become a slave. Consequently in Brazil, due to larger acceptance range of race

Actus Reus Essay
Actus Reus
Introduction
The Criminal Law of England and Wales means the portion of the law of England and Wales, which
deals with the components and consequences of criminal acts. The English criminal law is in large
part not regulated by law, but in the tradition of common law judge made law. The offense consists in
the English law of Actus Reus and mens rea together.
Actus Reus is the Latin term meaning the act of guilt (the outer or objective of a criminal offense).
This is an essential element in the determination of a crime. Thus, when no reasonable doubt exists as
a result of the demonstration of proof, the act of guilt, shown together with the intention of the
individual to commit a crime (mens rea), creates criminal ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A person can be charged with a crime for not acting, if there is a legal duty to act. For example,
parents have a duty to protect their children from harm. If they fail to take reasonable steps to protect
their children, a reckless omission to act could result in criminal charges. Parents who failed to feed
their children could be prosecuted for child neglect. The duty to act is usually defined in criminal
statutes. Thus, the deliberate failure to file a federal income tax return violates the criminal provisions
of the Internal Revenue Code. Conversely, if there is no legal duty to act, the failure to do so is not a
crime. For example, the failure to rescue a drowning stranger does not meet the Actus Reus
requirement.

Film Analysis Of The Movie Inception
The film Inception captured the imagination of many spectators as one of the best science fiction and
thriller movies to be produced that year. It was produced and directed by Christopher Nolan who also
directed The Dark Knight, Interstellar, and Dunkirk. Inception is based on the basic inspiration that a
single idea in an individual s mind can be either the most valuable asset or the most dangerous
weapon.
Inception is a science fiction thriller movie. This genre deals with situations and technology that
would be classified as scientific, but does not exist in real life. Inception connects with this because of
the technology they used to enter the dreams. Although it was never explained, the machine seems to
pump somnacin into the body. Somnacin is a drug utilized to initiate dream sharing and lucid
dreaming. The movie is also classified as a thriller because of the exciting plot. It has intense chase
scenes, gun fire, explosions, and fight scenes all within the dream state. The expectation for the movie
based on the trailer would be constant action. It seems that the main character is away from his family
and is trying to get home, but the only way he can is to do one last job. In the trailer the statement your
mind is the scene of the crime is shown, this indicates that most of the content will be in the dreams of
the subject.
Inception is about as many as four levels of dreams within dreams, and dreams that eclipse reality.
There seem to be two themes discussed in

Reassess The Food Service System Essay
The aim of this proposal is to reassess the food service process in provided within a hospital. It is
essential that the hospital s food service system requirements for all the nutrients and calories needed
to restore and maintain the health of all patients. Implementing these changes will require a health care
leader who will articulate well defined, clear objectives and measures and will incorporate a timeline
and standards for the revised food service system (Dye, 2010). Food service in hospitals is changing
by moving away from the traditional tray line system, in which trays move along an assembly line, to
room service, thus allowing in patients to choose nutritious meals. The health care industry is ever
more competitive, and hospitals are now recognizing patients as customers, and seeking ways to
influence patients satisfaction scores during a hospital stay (K. Kim, M. Kim Lee 2010). In this
proposal, the objectives of the value stream mapping in figure 1 are to strategically identify and
remove waste, cut costs, reduce labor, and increase patient satisfaction scores, while providing
nutritious meals. A Rapid Process Improvement Workshop (RPIW) will include staff from the call
center, cooks, food prepares, dietitians, food delivery personnel, nursing managers, staff from finance,
and administration, and customers who filled out a food survey to give their perspective. Each team
member can provide insight into some important processes that may or may not be

Strategic Analysis Of Under Armour Case
As consultants, we decided to do a strategic analysis on Under Armour Inc., an American
manufacturer of footwear, sports and casual apparel. We selected Under Armour because of their
renowned reputation in the U.S. and because of their recent fluctuating financials. The most noticeable
fluctuation was the $100 million drop in profits, which was initially attributed to a lack of seasonal
sales in the beginning of 2017. However, we discovered that a lack of seasonal sales was not the sole
factor that contributed to the recent poor sales but that it was the recent strategic shifts by the
company. These strategic moves were categorized into four groups: Branding, Investment, Identifying
Trends and Distribution.
We, therefore, recommend that the company investment into the new growing trend of of fashionable
athletic wear apparel, focusing primarily on their female customer base. This new female apparel line
will hopefully boost future earnings by serving one of the fastest growing markets in the United
States. In addition, it will hopefully attract more female customers, who still perceive the brand as
being male centric . Through thorough analysis, we believe that this the best course of action for the
company because of several factors that contribute, but are not limited to this new trend such as the
increase in health conscious, an increase in athletic wear apparel and the growing number of active
gym members across the country.

The Republicn and a Brief History of Philosphy
In The Republic there are six reoccurring themes education, justice, specialization, philosopher king,
soul, and truth. Plato uses justice though as the folk point and the remaining five trace back to justice.
Socrates defines justice as that one man should practice one thing only, the thing to which his nature
was best adapted (Plato 123). Socrates then goes to discuss the three parts to the soul, A man reasons,
we may call the rational principle of the soul, the other... may be termed the irrational or appetitive
and then there is the spirit (Plato 130). Kant proposes that justice says that only good people should be
happy, and happy in proportion to their goodness (Gustafson 67). Plato and Socrates saw justice as
giving what is owed, while Kant saw justice as being happy in proportion to their virtue. Yet each
strived for justice and look to eliminate the injustices in the world. These themes and ideas were not
just something that once occurred and then no one thought of again. These themes still play a role in
everyday life, some more predominate then others but apparent just the same. In the film Crimes and
Misdemeanors the view is introduced to a group of people with all different struggles. As the movie
progresses the characters dive deeper into their hardships, and some may never be able to get out of
them. This film deals with many of the ideas that Plato speaks about. The theme of justice is one that
is featured as the most important in the film. Secondary to

Most Of Society Views Food In A Singular Manner, That Is,
Most of society views food in a singular manner, that is, they see food and they think of it as no more
than just something to shove in their mouths. However, food has been around forever, and certainly,
something that is a necessary part of everyday life must play a part in our personal identities and how
we view others around the world. When I first read the prompt for this paper, I admit I had to look up
the meaning of gastronomy, so this acquainted me with the idea that food can be much more than what
it seems to be. Three texts that we have studied this semester that have gastronomy as a major theme
include Khushwant Singh s The Wog , Chinua Achebe s Things Fall Apart, and Ngitji s The Possum
Woman . I will use these works to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This means that the way we understand and we relate to food, food practices, is always related to our
identity, in the deepest manner (1). The contrasting food preferences between the two continue, and
this leads to a heightened sense that the relationship is in trouble. After the couple finishes two very
different dinners, Singh states, They sat in silence facing each other across the table; she chewing her
leaf almost like a cow chewing cud, thought Sen. He, lost in the smoke of his long Cuban cigar. It was
oppressive and the barrier between them, impassable (302). Singh s use of the smoke here acts as
metaphor for the cultural barrier between the Sens. Food plays a role in our identities, and Mr. and
Mrs. Sen could not identify with one another. This phenomenon is certainly not restricted to Mr. and
Mrs. Sen, and The Wog does a great job at displaying the fact that food and drink can have a
tremendous impact on relations between cultures around the world. Food and drink not only have an
impact across cultures but also have an impact on areas such as religion and gender roles within
cultures around the world. Achebe s Things Fall Apart is set in a society that is dominated by food,
and this agricultural focus demonstrates the large effect that food has on the areas of gender roles and
religion. The tribe of Umuofia relies entirely on harvesting crops for sustainability. All the major farm

Taking a Look in Tay-Sachs Disease
The cell is the basic unit of life in eukaryotic organisms. The inside of the cell is comprised of
multiple subunits called organelle that all function together to maintain homeostasis and function.
Each individual organelle is assigned a specific task and purpose for the cell. These tasks and purposes
can range from structural support all the way to the disposal of malfunctioning organelle.1 Similarity
to a machine, if one part stops functioning to full potential, serious if not fatal consequences can be
faced. A shining example of the effects of a malfunctioning organelle occurs in Tay Sachs disease. Tay
Sachs disease is a lysosomal disorder that is caused by a faulty lysosome.1 Recent studies and
research have been investigating the causes and pathways Tay Sachs disease with great success, which
is amazing news for the scientific community.
Lysosomes are membranous sacs of enzymes that are typically are involved in the digestion of cellular
macromolecules. They are made by both the endoplasmic reticulum and the Golgi complex.
Lysosomes have various roles, including the recycling of the cell s organic material and in the
intracellular digestion of macromolecules. The digestion of macromolecules is carried out through an
intense concentration of enzymes. To be specific, lysosomes contain close to 50 different degrading
enzymes that are capable of hydrolyzing proteins, DNA, RNA, polysaccharides, and lipids within the
cell.1 All of lysosomal enzymes are acid hydrolases,

Who Is Lucy Hominid
Lucy is the nickname given to the world s most famous human ancestor. (National Geographic News)
Lucy was found on November 24, 1974 in Hardar, Ethiopia by paleontologists Tom Gray and Donald
Johanson. While Lucy may not be the earliest human ancestor she is the first Australopithecus
afarensis skeleton found, with her remains being 3.2 million years old.
Lucy s nickname was inspired by the Beatles song Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds. While it is unsure
who exactly gave this 3.2 million year old skeleton the nickname Lucy, it stuck and the skeleton has
been referred to as Lucy ever since. Lucy has been identified as a hominid because she walked
upright, which is one of the foremost characteristics of the zoological family Hominidae. Hominidae

Medetomidine premedication via intramuscular increased the CNS uptake of a lipophilic tracer during brain perfusion imaging in healthy dogs, leading the to postulate that the central distribution of the tracer have been enhanced as a consequence of a lower proportionate decrease incentral nervous system( CNS) perfusion when compared to peripheral tissues (Waelbers et al., 2011). likewise, intravenous dexmedetomidine reduced cerebral oxygen transport underwent normoxia, but did not impair a hypoxia induced increase ... Like medetomidine, dexmedetomidine has no direct effect on the myocardium (Flackeet al., 1992). Similarly, equipotent intravenous doses of dexmedetomidine and medetomidine have minimal effects on ventilation in dogs (Kuuselaet al., 2000).Marked vasoconstriction and hypertension are initially seen in dogs followed almost immediately by baroreflex mediated bradycardia(Bloor et al., 1992). Consequently, the cardiac index and oxygen delivery decreases as systemic vascular resistance and central venous pressure are increased (Flackeet al., 1993). In denervated dogs, different administration regimens led to typical cardiovascular changes that were readily antagonized by atipamazole. Kuuselaet al. • 3. What Is The Meaning Of Double Effect The meaning of double of effect can be quite controversial. The principle of double effect teaches that one might perform a good action even if foreseen that a bad effect might occur (Becker, n.d). However, this is based on four principles which involves that the action has to be good itself, that the bad result was not directly intended, that the good result is not a direct casual result from the bad result, and that the good result is proportionate to the bad result (Becker, n.d). In this case of the pregnant patient with uterus cancer, from a deontologist perspective, it would be the duty of the doctor to try to save both lives but in case where it is impossible to save both lives, the doctor would save the live that could be saved and that ... • 4. The Transition And Opening Up And Growth Of The Service... Group A Studies on China Economy Victor Alberto Han Zou 2014059013 The Transition and Opening up and Growth of the Service Sector of China Abstract The objective of this paper is to show the transition of China from an economy dominated by the manufacturing to a more stable economy dominated by services. In recent years, many people were thinking about why the GDP (gross domestic product) of China has drop drastically from 11% to 7%. Well, that is an intentional cooling down that the country is doing to make the transition from industrial to service sector also known as tertiary industry . Through many years, the industrial sector was the one that contributed more to the GDP of the country; but now, China is changing this to a more stable and sustainable economy by opening up its service sector and the 12th Five Year Plan of China (2011 2015) is helping to accomplish this task. In 2013, for the first time of the history the service sector overpass the industrial sector in the contribution to the GDP. Key words: Transition, Gross Domestic Product, Industrial Sector, Tertiary Industry, and Sustainable Economy. I. Introduction Since 1978 when Deng Xiaoping took away the centrally planned economy and introduced the capitalistic market reform, China has witnessed tremendous transitions and growth. This tremendous growth lasted for 30 years. Between 1983 and 2013, the GDP of China has an annual grow of 10.2%. Also, China has transformed from a sleeping rural, to a giant ... What is the author s main thesis (argument) in setting up his book? Why/how are these fluids vital ? The author wants to show that beverages had a great impact on history. He wants to tell his readers that drinks have had a greater impact on history than normally recognized. The fluids are vital because without them, humans wouldn t have accomplished so much. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... 2.) In the 18th century, how did spirits change the balance of power amongst the western European nations (particularly Britain and France) ? In Britain, the knowledge of spirits allowed British sailors to have an advantage over French sailors. The British sailors were given grog, a spirit mixed with lime juice. This drink contained vitamin C, which made the sailors resistant to scurvy. On the other hand, the French sailors were given a different type of drink that contained no vitamin C. They were not protected from the disease. 3.) How did spirits help in the building and shaping of early America (politically and economically) ? Spirits helped build and shape America through trade. Rum played a big role in the triangular trade between Africa, Europe, and North America. By trading rum, money and goods were brought into the country. Coffee in the Age of Reason (Chapters 7 8) 1.) Why did coffee become known to Europeans as the antithesis of alcohol ?
  • 6. Coffee became known as the antithesis of alcohol because unlike alcohol, it allowed people to stay alert. It also aided people in thinking clearly. 2.) • 7. Essay On Bartleby The Race And Araby Counterpart Three critical essays that presented strong approaches to Joyce s stories are Counterparts, After the Race, and Araby. The critical approach for Joyce s Counterparts named Farrington the Scrivener: A Story of Dame Street by Morris Beja compared Farrington to that of Herman Melville s short story Bartleby the Scrivener: A Story of Wall Street (1853). While Melville s Bartleby was ambitious, Joyce s Farrington was quite the opposite, an anti Bartleby, with physicality, ambition, and how they handle themselves with violence (Beja 319). Despite these representations, Beja makes a point to say that Joyce forces readers to understand Farrington. Beja, however, wants to make the literary criticism s reader to realize our own kinship with him, but most of us are readier to identify with his son, or even with Bartleby (Beja 320). Then, Beja begins to find their similarities, including their defiance toward their bosses. Beja stated that the comparison may suggest a similar forces are present in their lives which may be hard to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The Prophecy Of The Temple 1 4 LIBERTY UNIVERSITY BAPTIST THEOLOGICAL SEMINARY Ezekiel and the New Temple Essay Submitted to Dr. Joel Ajayi, in partial fulfillment of the requirements for the completion of the course OBST 520 ? D06 Old Testament Orientation II by Oliver M. Brown April 10, 2016 ii Introduction The prophecy of the Temple in Ezekiel 40 48 is said to be one of the most difficult portion of scripture. Many commentators have proposed varying views and approaches. It has even been reported that the Jews do not allow anyone to read it until they are 30 years of age. [footnoteRef:1]Despite this difficulty, it is a vital portion of scripture necessary to the understanding of the Messiah and the principle of salvation. Accordingly, this discussion will examine both the literal and figurative interpretations of this vision to show their strengths and weaknesses in light of the New Testament and the coming of Jesus Christ the messiah. • 9. Walt Disney s Influence On The Entertainment Industry Walt Disney was a very influential man to the entertainment industry. He made animation a whole new type of entertainment. Although Walt went through many struggles and problems, he pushed on and eventually saw results for all his hard work. Many hardships got in Disney s way such as unsupportive parents and even bankruptcy; Walt pushed on through, always creating, working hard, and persevering to accomplish his dream. Walter Elias Disney was born on December 5, 1901, in Chicago, Illinois. His father, Elias, was a carpenter when Walt was born. Eventually, Elias and his wife, Flora, saved up enough money to start a home building company together. Walter had four siblings: Roy, Herbert, Raymond, and Ruth (Russell 9). Because Ruth was younger than Walt, Walt waited until the age of seven to start school so that he could start at the same time as Ruth. Before he went to school, his mother, Flora, taught him how to read (Russell 10). Walt grew up on the Disney family farm and worked hard on the farm. He worked at the neighbor s farm raising corn, wheat, barley, cows, pigs, and chickens (Giltin 18). Later, Elias grew sick, and the Disney s had to sell the farm. They moved to Kansas City (Russell 11). Throughout Walter s schooling, he loved to be on stage directing, producing, and being on stage (Russell 11). • 11. Reasons for the Gap between Social Classes in America USA is a very big country with a lot of people and the social classes are very important. We can see that social class plays big part of people s life. Everyday people are working, studying, trying to be better. Even though right now it s time when everyone has many opportunities in his life, anyway there is a gap between classes and groups of people with same features. And your background probably will build your future. And we need to find what kind of class we have right now and look into these classes. The main idea is that Social Classes still exist and it s most general part of U.S.A society. There are three reasons why gap between groups still exist. The first reason is that everyone has different economic status. People divide by groups with same ideas, religion, economic status, political views, and cultural features. For example in U.S.A we have poor people, very rich people, and kind of middle people and we can t say that these families are same. People from each group have different opportunities in education, medicine, and job. If you are from rich family you have more chance to be succeed in this world, for you it will be much easier unlike someone from poor family. The children from rich families will get best college or university degree, will find good job, and will learn how to be rich from their parents. • 13. Job Proverbs, Ecclesiastes And The books of Wisdom : Job, Psalms, Proverbs, Ecclesiastes and Song of Songs are hugely different from the preceding books of history. They focus on raising questions about God, creation itself, humanity and the essence of evil and suffering. In Job, we see one of the most famous individuals in the Old Testament. His continual struggles and trials cause him to call out to God for answers, and he receives one in Job 40:2 Shall the one who contends with the Almighty correct Him?He who rebukes God, let him answer it. It s hard to read of Job s suffering and crying out to God without questioning why God would let him suffer, but it does show us the peace that can be found in recognizing God s sovereignty. In Psalms, we see a collection of lyrical poetry, songs and prayers. Many of these were written by King David himself. The book covers almost the entire gamut of human emotion, from sorrow to joy, from doubt to faith. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... For example, in Proverbs 10:4 5, we see that working hard will lead us to a better life, but slacking off will cause us shame. In Ecclesiastes 12:13 14 we get Solomon s basic lesson to those who are seeking a full and abundant life Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God and keep His commandments, For this is man s all. For God will bring every work into judgment, Including every secret thing,Whether good or evil. In Song of Songs, we see another lyrical, poetic book. How Did The Indians Culture Affect The Lakota Culture The Lakota Indians had the sad and unfortunate luck of becoming personally acquainted with the westward thrust of American development when the Americans attitudes toward Indians had grown cynical and cruel. This interaction caused the Lakota culture to change a great deal during the nineteenth century. Horses and guns brought about a dramatic change in the Lakota s culture. They enabled them to seize and defend their rich hunting grounds, to follow the great migrating herds of buffalo that shaped their distinctive way of life, and by the middle of the nineteenth century to evolve into the proud and powerful monarchs of the northern Great Plains (R6). Any history of armed conflict is considered to be military history, however, the profession of being a soldier is older than said recorded history. Although the country had united in the election of Margaret Thatcher as the first Conservative woman Prime minister by the early 1980 s one could say that the country was spiralling into a state of decline. This was largely due to the disarray of the previous Labour government and the implementation of the Conservative government s robust style of economic management. Bram Stoker s Dracula is not only a classic story of men and monsters, but a dramatic reactionary work to the perceived threats to Victorian society in nineteenth century England. In modern times there have been many film adaptations of the novel, each developing a unique analysis or criticism of the literary text within the framework of the society and time period in which it was created. The 1972 film Blacula is one of the most culturally specific variations on the story of Dracula, and highlights many of the themes and messages found in Stoker s original text. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Dracula is of mixed racial heritage and blood in the whirlpool of European races, a concept which would have been fearful to the novel s white, upper class English audience. This widespread xenophobia, a fear and hatred of foreigners, was a reaction by Victorian England to the perceived threat of outsiders to white genetic purity. Dracula s real threat is not in the physical destruction of Western Europe, but in the assimilation, reproduction, and infestation caused by the literal and figurative mixing of his barbarian animal blood with that of the superior English race. The concept of eugenics, the qualitative and quantitative improvement of the human genome (Galton 99), gained widespread popularity during Stoker s lifetime and became a prevalent theme in the works of many authors aiming to make a social commentary or criticism on the invasion of England by foreign peoples. Adolph Hitler would later adopt eugenic ideals in the intended creation of a master race, one which victimized many of the same groups and relied upon almost identical anti Semitic imagery as the earlier Victorian proponents (Hauner 15). There are many psychological factors that influence the way people think. The way individuals think causes the thoughts of discrimination; therefore, an individual s psychological makeup will determine their view of others. Discrimination is the unjust or prejudicial treatment of different categories of people or things, especially on the grounds of race, age, or sex (Social Psychology Racism). In order to truly understand discrimination, one must know where and how it starts. Discrimination starts at a young age. Children are the future, and everything the see and learn in their upbringing influences them forever. The ways of discrimination that they learn can transfer into many condescending and secretive ways or can transpire into a bold topic. Discriminating against an individual or a specific group of individuals can truly cause those individuals to have psychological problems, which is why this issue is so wide spread and is considered a worldwide issue. If the human race finds a way to get rid of discrimination all together the world would be a better place. Judgments should be made based on known facts rather than on false information. It is for this reason that has led to intriguing question of why individuals think in a discriminatory manner, and act the way they do, and how humans as a race can fix the problem.
