Vitamins And Minerals Of Vitamins
Vitamins and minerals
The vitamins and minerals are substances found in our daily diet foods that promote healthy and
balanced development of our body and are also called micronutrients because they are needed in small
amounts thereof to achieve that function. Most essential vitamins can not be synthesized (produced)
by the body, so it can obtain through the balanced intake of vitamins contained in natural foods.
Vitamin deficiency is called hypovitaminosis while excessive vitamin level is called hypervitaminosis.
Vitamins can be classified according to their solubility: if they are water soluble or are lipid soluble. In
humans there are 13 vitamins are classified into two groups: (9) water soluble (8 B complex and
vitamin C) and (4) soluble (A, D, E and K).
Water soluble vitamins
It is coenzymes or precursors of coenzymes, needed for many chemical reactions of metabolism, in
this group of vitamins, vitamins B1 (thiamine), B2 (riboflavin), B3 (niacin or nicotinic acid), B5
(pantothenic acid), B6 (pyridoxine), B7 / B8 (biotin), B9 (folic acid), B12 (cobalamin) and vitamin C
(ascorbic acid).
Lipid soluble vitamins
The lipid solubles vitamins A, D, E and K, are consumed with foods that contain fat and stored in the
liver and fatty tissues. Because it can be stored in body fat is not necessary to take them every day so
it is possible, after a sufficient consumption, survive a period without their input.

Vitamin deficiency can cause more or less serious disorders,

Sexism In Afghanistan
Over a decade of Western intervention in Afghanistan has opened the door for modernity but, cultural
change is rarely linear. The history of Afghanistan through a feminist perspective truly indicates this
non linear progress. Kevin Seiff wrote, Afghan women caught between modernity, tradition for The
Washington Post. This article recounts the narrative of Farima; a young fiancée who sought to escape
her arranged marriage. Seiff begins the article with Farima s attempt to escape her marital fate, Just
before she leapt from her roof into the streets of Kabul, Farima thought of the wedding that would
never happen and the man she would never marry {Seiff}. Farima saw suicide as the only way to
escape tradition. The article discusses the fact ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Separation of religion from state, banning burqas, and raising the minimum age of marriage were part
of the reforms that the PDPA implemented. Images from the 1970s depict young women walking to or
from school sporting mini skirts and loose hair. These vintage pictures dramatically contrast pictures
from modern Afghanistan, depicting women completely covered, head to toe in plain, blue textiles.
The burqa was uncommon until the Taliban took over the country as a result of the Soviet Union
toppling the nation s government, leading to civil conflict. The Taliban s re establishment of more
Sharia Law resulted in the devolution of the culturally progressive legislature that was part of both
President Daoud and the PDPA s respective agendas. It is common to analyze the cultural struggle
between modernity and tradition through a western feminist lens that greatly relies on the
juxtaposition of women before and after the establishment of the Taliban in Afghanistan. Gender is
one way to look at the difference in culture, but another perspective is sexuality. Homosexuality in
Muslim majority countries has, throughout history, been a volatile

Analysis Of Tim Harford s The Undercover Economist
Human beings have always sought after one goal: improving their lives. This naturally has to be done
through learning more and making better decisions. Perhaps the most important field humanity has
ever been a part of, economics provides us with the solutions and skills to increase the welfare and
standard of living for all of us. From being able to determine whether a low income child gets an
education to explaining why the washing machine was imperative to global development in the 20th
century, economics has an unparalleled impact on the way every person runs their lives; it being such
a powerful element of humanity makes it such an inviting prospect to study in the summer and later
read at university.
Having always questioned simple features and tendencies of everyday life that I suspected were
largely deducible by economic theory I decided to read Tim Harford s The Undercover Economist . I
particularly enjoyed at how he was able to address and analyse human properties of systems and use
that to demonstrate why some fail and some work. I agreed with Harford s characterisation of scarcity
power in which it is able to manipulate humanity s desire for special products and their lackadaisical
attitude to finding better prices as well as his reasoning for the failure of Nepal s irrigation systems
being due to lack of incentive for workers to collaborate thus heavily reducing effectiveness. This is
one of the several manifestations of the ability of economics to provide us

English as a Second Language
English as a second language is becoming more popular all across the globe. It is not surprising,
because English is the main language of business and commerce, trade, advertising, sport, of science,
medicine, education, of popular music, entertainment, computers, video games and the Internet. Most
of the scientific, technological and academic information in the world is available primarily in
English. English unites and connects people from many different countries and cultures more so than
other languages. People around the globe learn English for different reasons. They study English
because they want to have access to the information presented only in this language, some of them
want to be able to communicate with more people wherever they go, others do it in order to obtain a
good and well paid job or to study abroad. Nowadays knowledge of the English in Kazakhstan is no
longer just a fad of intellectuals, but a vital necessity. Majority of students here starts attending
English classes 3 or 4 times a week since the second grade, however most of them do not speak
English at all, they do not even understand it. Their English is very poor. Students who learn English
attending courses know many grammar rules excellently, but they find it difficult to apply it in
practice, they cannot express their thoughts. I think it is because of the typical learning style here
teacher oriented method, book centered method. Teacher usually speaks Russian in the classroom,

Political Satire In Rob Sitch s Fat Chance
Analyse the way in which satire can provoke and engage its audiences. Through skillful manipulation
of language, irony and wit, satirical texts seek to highlight humanity s various vices and shortcomings,
and in so doing comment on prevailing social norms and attitudes. , Political satire, in particular, seeks
to elicit social awareness of the vices and foibles of political institutions, and through commentary that
ranges from mockery to condemnation, provides insight into the internal machinations and moral and
ideological ambiguity of politics. Rob Sitch s 2008 mockumentary The Hollowmenexposes the
clandestine nature of Australian politics where decisions are made based on nepotism and personal
gain rather than for the greater good, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The premise of the episode is a snap policy decision made on talkback radio to fight obesity by the
nameless, faceless prime minister. Making a wry comment on Australian politics, Sitch represents the
PM s uninspiring private secretary Tony and the other political advisors as the hollow men of
Australian politics. This is unequivocally conveyed through the verisimilitude of the time date
[quote/example], and panning images of Canberra. In naming the PM s advisors the central policy unit
or CPU , Sitch mocks the bureaucratic jargon which seems to define the policy making process. This
is further developed through constant use of political jargon, where the prime minister announces new
policy with a series of meaningless phrases such as raft of measures , speaking to all stakeholders ,
and provisional policy . , The superficial, short sighted and self serving nature of political decisions
humourously conveyed through the advisor Mel s concern, should we announce it at a hospital or at

We Need The Microwave Can Be Good, But Dangerous With Sparky
Microwave can be good, but dangerous with sparky You should not put sparky in the microwave
because you might damage your expensive microwaves. Nowadays, microwaves are commonly used
due to their rapidity in getting our food or drinks warm. However, most people are ignorant of the fact
that not all objects can get into our microwaves, it does not matter how expensive or cheap the
microwave is. Without withstanding as Sophocles said the only crime is pride is important for us not
to ignore some important cause of sparks in our microwaves; a piece of metal forgotten in a
microwave is enough to cause a spark, this is also the same with the use of foil covering as many who
have tried using it will agree with me they experienced a spark of fire burnt. Again sometimes the
spark in the microwave could be as a result of high voltage, it can also be as a result of damage rack
support, which can cause the microwaves to peel and as such causing the heat coming from the
microwave to have direct contact with the peeled surfaced, thereby causing an explosion. Moreover,
as Linder Fisher Thornton said, Face the complexity involved in making ethical choices. Though some
people will be aware of the danger in putting sparky objects in the microwaves, others will still make a
choice to try, as but this can lead to some consequences like damaging our microwaves, this is true as

How Does Billy Pilgrim Use Satire In Catch 22
How does one know they are right? Does one viewpoint inherently have more value than another?
Unconventional viewpoints towards war are often portrayed in classic literature from the perspective
of its soldiers. Kurt Vonnegut, in his novel Slaughterhouse Five, writes the story of Billy Pilgrim, a
WWII veteran with PTSD who lives his life stuck in time . Throughout the non chronological course
of the novel, Pilgrim questions his faith and purpose and eventually becomes trapped in his own
fantastical reality as an attempt to escape his horrific memories of the war. Yossarian, in Joseph Heller
s Catch 22, also relies on escapism to make it through his own experience in WWII. After a series of
traumatic events leads to many of his comrades dying, he runs from the war and escapes to Sweden.
His lack of faith in religion, his superiors, and purpose of the war leads to Yossarian s escape to
Sweden, a country free of American influence. Pilgrim and Yossarian s integrity and sanity is
consistently questionable, as well as their sanity during and after the war. Vonnegut and Heller both
use satirical means to question the effects of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Catch 22 closes with Yossarian s escape from the deranged, knife wielding lover of Yossarian s fellow
soldier, Nately. After Nately s death, Yossarian breaks the news of the death to Nately s lover, and she
blames it all on him. As he runs from her, Nately s whore was hiding just outside the door. She swings
the knife, missing him by inches, and he took off (Heller 453). By narrowly escaping, Yossarian
survives destruction, unlike the rest of his friends. His predilection towards flight over fight saves him,
showing Heller s belief that escapism is a mark of sanity. When Yossarian experiences a failed escape,
it leads to the downfall of not only his short lived faith, but also that of a man he

What Is The Strength Of Macy s
One strength of Bon Ton is that it is known for low price products, and therefore Bon Ton appeals to a
specific audience. People see Bon Ton as a set of stores in which they can get quality products for a
good value. In addition, Bon Ton owns several stores, including the Boston Store, Carson s, Herberger
s, Younkers and more. One weakness of Bon Ton is that it only operates 280 different department
stores in 23 states. Therefore, if you live outside of one of these 23 states, you can only shop at the
Bon Ton stores online. This is a disadvantage because other department stores have stores spread
throughout the country. Many customers will not want to buy products online, and will therefore
choose not to shop at Bon Ton. Another weakness ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

St. Vincent Narrative
Growing up in suburbia, I struggled to find my place as a first generation American. I did not
appreciate being called African American because it is an inaccurate way of describing my heritage,
but I felt pushy and pretentious if I told people to call me Caribbean American. My dad s family still
lives in Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, and we visit them every few years, so I had to confront
these issues during my family s last trip to St. Vincent. I liked the idea of living in St. Vincent because
of the entertaining stories that my cousins and aunts told me about the island. It had been so long since
my previous trip to St. Vincent, so I had idealized and unrealistic expectations of what St. Vincent was
like. My aunt had told me that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
To begin with, I am afraid of falling off the side of a mountain. Even if the edge is over 100 feet away,
I can still picture myself tripping and accidentally going over the edge. Because of this fear, I
absolutely did not want to go on the hike. I pouted, whined, and did everything I could to resist the
adventure. The hike aside, the car ride to the base of the volcano is terrifying enough because of the
twisty, mountainous roads in addition to left hand side driving. And why was no else concerned that
the volcano might erupt while we were on it? Unfortunately for me (at the time), my family and I
made it to the starting point of the trail. I trudged up the volcano, trailing behind the rest of my family,
and after two terrifying and exhausting hours, we made it to the summit. It was breathtaking. We were
literally in the clouds, we could see Saint Lucia in the distance, and seeing the steam rolling off the
bottom of the crater was unexpectedly exhilarating. I could never have imagined what a volcano
would look like, and I am so grateful that my family forced me to go I will never miss an opportunity
like that just because I do not feel like

Peplau s Theory Of Interpersonal And Inductive Reasoning
Deductive Reasoning
Peplau utilized both deductive and inductive reasoning in her theory development work (Reed
Shearer, 2011). The deductive reasoning methods used were that Peplau integrated ideas from a
number of theories into her theory of interpersonal relations. Influenced by works of Sigmund Freud,
particularly his interest in unconscious motivation as well as Harry S. Sullivan s theory of
interpersonal relations all contributed to her development of the theory of interpersonal processes in
nursing, For example she refers to Sullivan s concepts of anxiety, self system and modes of
experiencing. (Peterson Bredow, 2017). She also incorporated into her theory some elements from
developmental psychology and learning theory (Armstrong Kelly, 1995) and some ideas of the
humanistic psychologists, Abraham Maslow, Rollo May and Carl Rogers. (Peterson Bredow, 2017).
For example, Peplau s systematic approach to establishment of nurse patient relationship and
therapeutic intervention are ideas that resonated with Martha Rogers theoretical assumptions about
human pattern and organization. (Armstrong Kelly, 1995).
Inductive Reasoning
Peplau defined her inductive approach in both general and specific terms. The inductive approach for
concept naming are described in several steps (a) observing behaviors for which no explanatory
concepts are available, (b) seeking to repeat those observations in others under similar conditions, (c)
noting regularities concerning the

Examples Of Intellectual Oppression In Inherit The Wind
Challenging Intellectual Oppression
Throughout the history of the United States, there have been many issues that have impacted the
future of American life. In 1925, in the small town of Dayton, Tennessee, a local school teacher went
on trial for teaching evolution in the local school. Twenty five years later, Senator Joseph McCarthy,
began the movement known as the red scare in which he began to pick out Communists in the
community. Both of these instances initiated much questioning of civil rights, and civil liberties.
Through the play Inherit the Wind, the two playwrights Jerome Lawrence and Robert E. Lee, show the
dangers of intellectual oppression with the Story of Bert Cates, and the well known monkey trial . In
the small town of Hillsboro, a well known school teacher is put on trial for teaching evolution in the
local school. Matthew Harrison Brady, a three time presidential candidate, comes to prosecute Bert
Cates. While Henry drummond, his direct opposite, comes to defend Mr. Cates and the freedom to
think. E.K. Hornbeck, a big city skeptic, travels to Hillsboro to document the trial, and write about it
in the Newspaper. Bert Cates companion, Rachel, models the type of progressiveness that the two
playwrights hope Americans can learn from. In this allegorical play Lawrence and Lee s use of
symbolic characters challenges the status quo and inspires American intellectual growth.

Coffee Is The Best Caffeinated Beverage Of The World Essay
Before the sunrise, when the world is still asleep, my father awakens me by the rich roasted strong
smell of espresso. Watching how it awakens him with joy from every sip brought happiness to
moments I had with him. That scent from a child is now a comfort of home. These moments are just
one of the many beauties of coffee. Coffee s diversity can accommodate any individual s life style and
taste. This naturally memorable caffeinated drink is well known for many cultures and is highly
effective. Coffee is the best caffeinated beverage in the world.
This diverse beverage is made from roasted ground seeds of a tropical shrub. The most common
species of bean is from Ethiopia which is located in western and central Africa. It is well known
because many of these coffee beans are planted in over seventy countries, making it one of the most
popular beverages in the world. The dried and roasted coffee seeds are ground and moistened by hot
water passed through to become a liquid brew. The beverage is now drinkable and stimulating to
people because of its natural high impact of caffeine that is why we become so energetic after
consuming a drink. Coffee is known everywhere compared to any other drink; it is something that
different cultures have in common. That is why coffee benefits a way of living by bringing completely
different cultures together.

Christian Faith Research Paper
My Christian faith has been a cornerstone throughout my life, calming and supporting me within the

they are a gift from God. This is something I have often struggled with, pride controlling and limiting
the growth within my life. However, through the refinement of my faith, as well as having great
mentors and examples, I now understand that these gifts I have are given, are gifts, not a result of
anything I have done or could do. Within the classroom, my faith aids me as it reminds me that I am

is willing to conform to an authority figure who commands him to execute acts that conflict with his
moral beliefs. Milgram discovers that the majority of participants do obey to authority. In this

they are told. This experiment was appropriate despite this. Throughout the process, subjects are

Before Milgram s findings, the fact that people were inclined to obey to authority figures was already
realized. He just confirmed this belief. Milgram followed effective steps by using precise procedures.
He made sure that the experiment reflected features of an actual situation in which a person would
obey to an authority figure: offering compensation (monetary reward in this experiment), being under
pressure (Prods 1 to 4 in this case), and mentioning that the person who obeys can withdraw. These
features can also be seen in a situation where a soldier is commanded to fire, for instance. A soldier
will get a monetary compensation, is under pressure to obey because he chose to be part of the
military, and he knows that he can resign at any time. Milgram created an experiment so precise and
detailed that more than enough evidence was demonstrated. In this experiment, subjects are explained
that this is a learning experiment to ... study the effects of punishment on memory (4). Yet, the real
intention here is to measure the participants compliance towards the experimenter. This controversy is
unethical as subjects are volunteering for a cause that does not exist. They are misled since they are
not exposed to the real purpose of this study. Nevertheless, this experiment was appropriate.
Throughout the process, participants are exposed to various indications about the intensity of the
experiment. If the question about

As we engineer the shoreline, this is a phase that may compare to the changing or altering the nature
of the shoreline in order to keep it stabilized. The stabilization methods of shoreline range from
planting dune grass, to large seawalls using bulldozers or cranes. These methods are short term.
Erosion of beaches caused by human may be greater than nature causing. Replenishing of beaches
may consist of pumping sand back out onto the beach, or building back up sand dunes. This would
result in not enough money to replenish the beach. Only the upper part of the beach would be covered
with new sand. This would create a steep beach. Creating the steep beach would increase the rate of
erosion. With sand being pumped from the lagoon, or shelf, this

My Reflection Of Skype
Skype Reflection I will start by saying that our conversations with everyone over Skype has been my
favorite thing I have had the pleasure to do since I have been in college. It was different, informative,
intriguing, and easily the most interesting exchange I have ever had. I not only appreciate having been
given the opportunity to be a part of this conversation, but feel fortunate to have taken part in learning
about others and their way of life. After speaking with Chris Saunders and Panos and Stefania, I re
read Hofstede s dimensions and felt I learned more and understood it better after speaking with them. I
feel that I can read something repeatedly, but having a good example and seeing it first hand is the
best learning experience I can have. To have a good take away from the book with an even better
example was the best way to learn this subject. When speaking to Chris Saunders from Wales and
England, I first noticed that he seemed as nervous as we did. He was able to answer our questions with
great content and was really funny. I felt that he had a great amount of individuality and held true to
his own beliefs. I also feel that Chris showed that he fits into the masculinity dimension as he is
successful as a writer and driven as a teacher. Since he has moved around so much, he shows that he
personally has a low uncertainty avoidance, as he can take risks and is less resistant to change. An
example of this is he was able to move to China, not knowing much about the culture or the language
and take the changes as they came at him. When it came to talking to Chris, I think what surprised me
the most was that there is a gap between 16 and 18 from what we would call high school to college. In
the United States kids wouldn t know what to do with themselves and I can t imagine what kind of
trouble they would get into. It also surprised me that he has lived in so many places. He has had the
opportunity to learn so about so many cultures and meet so many people and that is incredible. My
impressions of Chris were that he is very intelligent and funny. He has a great sense of what he wants
in life and is able to accomplish those goals. Because of his individuality he is able to make his own
choices and do

The Effects of Exercise on Mental Health Essay
Some hypothesize that moderate levels of exercise will decrease the symptoms of mental health

Beaker Bell Pottery
The appearance of Beaker Bell pottery in Europe is one ceramic innovation which is still not fully
understood today (Waddell 2010, 121) as their distribution is irregular stretching from Hungary to
Ireland. Several Beaker Bell pottery types have been identified in Britain and Ireland; those of
different sizes, ware type (ibid). Many of the pottery that has survived in Ireland are those which have
been used for burial, although also used for drinking, storage and cooking (Gibson 2002, In: Waddell
2010, 121). Residue analysis showed the pottery was used for holding alcohol and drugs, but as the
pots themselves would not hold liquids for long it was like a prehistoric drinking challenge (Guerra
Doce 2006, 248). Pottery sherds have been uncovered from a number of settlements in Ireland;
Dublin, Limerick, Meath and Tyrone to name a few locations. It was only when wedge tombs were
excavated in the 1930s that there was actual proof of Beaker Bell existence in Ireland and from that it
was assumed the people were an important component of the Irish population at that time (Waddell
2010, 129) and they were also recognised as the people that introduced the understanding of metal
working to Ireland. The Beaker Folk are all connected by their similar techniques and artefacts but
their geographical location seems to be an influence in their day to day practices, for example the stark
difference in Irish and British Beaker Bell funerary rituals (Waddell 2010, 130). It seems the one

Jackie Robinson Uprightness
In the closing paragraph of the piece, Jackie Robinson pronounces how he believes in humanity, man s
rectitude, and the morality of a liberated country. These qualities constitute the essence of
righteousness. Uprightness is the property of being morally right or justifiable. Within this
characteristic, society relies on fairness, independence, and justice. To correlate to the composition,
Jackie Robinson struggled for equality and for freedom of his race. African Americans were never
allowed to engage in the majors before Robinson came to the plate. Therefore, he was able to open up
a door of possibility for the lower class and brought a sense of optimism and determination. He strived

Mama s Fear In Like Water For Chocolate
Perhaps everything that frightens us is, in its deepest essence, something helpless that needs our love.
In Like Water for Chocolate Tita had a fear towards her mother. Many characters in the book found
Mama frightening or intimidating. The family was forced into a fearful obedience such as when the La
Garza family is making their Christmas rolls they are not allowed to stop until Mama Elena stated
That s it for today. once that statement is said no one dares question her or says anything else they all
begin cleaning up. (ch 1;10) Mama Elena unconsciously instilled fear into Pedro because when he
gave roses to Tita in a way to sooth her over the death of Nacha. But Rosaura, Tita s older sister and
wife of Pedro, say this she burst into tears causing Mama Elena to give him a look that sent Tita and
Pedro walking away.(ch 3;48) Mama Elena hold over people around her was based of the instinct of
fear.
Mama Elena stirred fear even in strangers. Rebel soldiers came by her house asking for her to
volunteer her services to them. Mama allowed them to go in the corn crib and the stable taking

Hip Hop Research Paper
In the past thirty years, hip hop culture has grown from its respectful beginnings in the South Bronx
section of New York City into an important and influential cultural movement. Created in the mid
1970s by poor Bronx residents with few resources, hip hop has become a billion dollar industry whose
reach now stretches around the world. Hip hop has influenced the way people make music, the way
they dance, and the way they wear their clothes. It has also shaped people s political views and turned
many people into entrepreneurs. Hip hop culture includes four main components: rapping, DJing,
graffiti art, and break dancing. At its start, hip hop was inspired by a change of other art forms, many
of which still influence and inspire hip hop artists today. One of hip hop s key characteristics is its
ability to take an idea, a practice, or a way of doing something and make it into something new. Hip

Consumer Behavior Process
INTRODUCTION Consumer behavior is considered as the mental and emotional process and the
observing behavior of consumers during searching, purchasing and post consumption of a product or
service. Consumer behavior involves study of what they buy, why they buy, how they buy, and when
they buy (Gupta Shallu, 2013). From various sources, the past experience and state of mind, the
consumer may determine the impact that advertising has on him/her. In an effort to improve
messaging and to gain the audience s attention, advertisers create some special moments to resonate
the mind of the target customer and motivate the audience to purchase the advertised product or
service (Chakrabortty, Hossain, Azad, Jakirul, 2013). The value of studying the consumer behavior is
that it gives vital information to an organization for designing an effective marketing strategy. The
way a consumer thinks, perceives, decides and is influenced is important in designing of promotional
campaigns for any product. This report will cover the extensive advertisements done by Cadbury
when their most popular product dairy milk was suffering declining sales and a tarnished image. The
objective of this report is to analyze and evaluate the marketing strategies and promotions done by
Cadbury and how they affected consumer behavior. Also, the report will provide limitations and

Accounting for Leases 4
Introduction
Accounting for leases is regulated by the Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB) in United
States .Standards for accounting leases have been effective since 1977 (Accounting Standard Board,
2004). The primary standard for lease accounting is Statement of Financial Accounting Standards No.
13 (FAS 13).
According to FASB (1976), a lease is an agreement conveying the right to use property, plant, and
equipment (PPE) usually for a stated period of time. Examples of assets that can be leased include
land, buildings, and plant amp; equipment. FASB classified lease as an operating lease or a capital
lease (finance lease). An operating lease is regularly for a shorter period of time and is a rental of the
asset. Under an ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Furthermore, FASB wish to produce a common standard on lease accounting to have higher level of
transparency and comparability to financial statements and to improve on the understanding of
financial reporting (Altamuro, 2005).
The proposed new accounting standards treat all leases as capital leases. This will get rid of the
difference between capital leases and operating leases (Nobes, 2004).FASB and IASB consider that
when issuing a lease contract, a lessee has attained an asset through its right to use the asset and
recognized a liability through its duty to pay rentals. Using the new standard, a lessee is required to
record an asset on behalf of its right to use the leased item on an agreed term and a liability for its
obligation to make pay rental fees.
As for primary measurement, it was cautiously decided that the lessee would record the asset at cost,
which would equal the present value of the lease payments discounted at the lessee s incremental
borrowing rate. The obligation to make rent payments would be recorded at the present value of the
lease payments, discounted at the lessee s incremental borrowing rate (Ochoa, 2011).
After several meetings, the Boards decided to implement the performance obligation approach to
lessor accounting where a lessor would identify an asset representing its right to receive rental
payments and distinguish a liability representing its performance obligation under the lease (Elena
et.al., 2009). Revenue will not be

Middle Passage Stage
The first stage of the Transatlantic Slave Trade was known as the Outward Passage . This is where
ships carried goods from Europe to trade in Africa for captured slaves. The Middle Passage was the
second stage of the Transatlantic Slave Trade. The last stage of the Transatlantic Slave Trade was the
Return Passage which is where ships returned back to Europe from the New World, usually carrying
cargo that consisted of sugar and tobacco they got in exchange for the slaves. The Middle Passage was
infamously known as the most cruel and inhumane way to ship slaves from Africa to the West Indies.
The enslaved people were packed onto ships, forced to lay next to each other shoulder to shoulder.

However, the measurements varied depending on the ship. Women and children were usually not
chained and remained unshackled. Men stayed in separate holding areas that were on opposite sides of
the ship. Although there was only such little space provided to the enslaved people, the captain and
crew boarded more than 600 slaves onto a ship at a time. Between the 16th and 20th century, 10 to 15
million enslaved Africans were forcibly shipped across the Atlantic.
The conditions were incredibly harsh on the Middle Passage . When the ships docked at port for rest,
there was always a chance that they could be attacked from enemies or pirates. They were even
sometimes attacked by native tribes if they did not like their arrival. If the ships were faced with bad
weather conditions, it would make the journey longer. Due to this the daily food rations the slaves had
twice a day would be reduced greatly which resulted in many of them getting sick or nearly starving to
death. These weather conditions affected both the crew and captain as well as the enslaved Africans,
but the conditions were much worse for the enslaved Africans as they also dealt with mental, physical,
and sexual abuse/assault from the captain and crew. These punishments were mainly due to rebellion
of the enslaved Africans. Due to the slaves outnumbering the crew, they thought the rebellion would
be successful. In spite of the punishments, the slaves often rebelled or

This Research Paper Seeks To Understand The Current Economic
This research paper seeks to understand the current economic relationship between individual/family
assets within larger economic forces and theorize at possible responses though real estate
development. Research will include how liquid asset poverty, liquid asset wealth, changing class
structures, and increased student debt obligations affect the real estate market. Trends within the
housing market will then be analyzed as well as initial market responses. Finally, a networked
response between these considerations will be used as a proponent for a subsidized model for housing,

These are individuals who if a situation is dire enough, can t even get a short term loan and are
unfortunate targets for predatory lending schemes.
In contrast to individuals struggling within Liquid asset poverty, the liquid asset rich individuals place
other considerations onto the real estate markets. Since the measure of liquid asset poverty is a
consideration of the amount of capital necessary over time, once the three months marker is met the
metric lacks any definition as to what liquid asset wealth is measured by. For purposes of this
research, I will define liquid asset wealth as a ceiling value of six months of living costs saved within
easily liquidated assets. While it may be helpful to understand the effects of high liquid wealth within
a context of real estate development, the author understands that an increase in wealth will not
necessitate an increase in liquid assets due to the lower return on investment compared to illiquid
assets. An investor who has more than six months of assets stored in a liquid manner is likely to not be
using their assets in a responsible manner, assuming a reasonable investing market, it would be
unlikely to see liquid assets rise with wealth instead of simply plateauing. The effects of these
wealthier individuals has been documented within the work of Rodrigo Fernandez, annelore Hofman
and Manuel B Aalbers in their article, London and New York as a safe deposit box for the
transnational wealth elite.

The Iron Giant was a movie that I believe had many different theological theme. But for me the one
theme that stuck out the most was of Christ and his sacrifice for us. Just like Christ sacrificed his life
for us The Iron Giant sacrificed himself for the people of Rockwell. In this paper we are going to look
at how The Iron Giant and the journey Jesus Christ and his sacrifice for us are similar, we will also
look at how we are supposed to live life like a child.
In order for us to look at this movie theologically we have to know what happened. In this movie a 50
foot tall robot crash lands on earth. He is later found by Hogarth Hough and they become friends and
they do a lot of stuff together. Eventually the army gets called and they try and destroy this monster
but this just made the giant mad and he began defending himself. At the end of the movie and bomb is
launched at the giant that will kill everyone. The Iron Giant decides to sacrifice himself for his friend
and the people of Rockwell.
The first thing I want to point out was this line from Kent Mansley who said.
No, Marv. Big things happen in big places, and the sooner I file my report, the sooner I can get back to
them. (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0129167/quotes)

American Farms Great Again Is The Motto For Burlington...
Research Paper
Make American farms great again is the motto for Burlington Robotics. Autonomous means:
controlled by a computer without a need for human intervention. United States farmers compete
globally for market share and Burlington Robotics wants to provide the machines needed to reach the
greatest potential. The next revolution in farming will be autonomous farming. Bet the Farm, Best
Robotics game for 2016 is a great example of the changes that are occurring in agriculture. Farmers
concerns with the autonomous tractor revolution include: safety, command and control, laborers,
efficiency and cost.
Safety
Autonomous farming could reduce farm accidents. According to the United States Department of
Labor approximately 300 fatalities occur each year due to vehicular incidents on the farm.
Autonomous farm machinery could decrease these numbers. Make an automated farm a safer place
with Vantage (copyright) obstacle detection and avoidance. Equip robotic farm vehicles with the
ability to see and safely react to unexpected hazards.
The first step in environmental awareness, this specialized LiDAR sensor produces a 3D area readout
that identifies potential obstacles and integrates seamlessly with Vantage.

skills and techniques I will explain about Dr. House is transparency, delegation, listening, and

I believe Dr. House expresses the skill of delegation the best out of a skills, but he needs to be always
available to his subordinates in case of issues.
Availability as a supervisor helps boost morality, production, and understanding throughout the work
area. Most employees would choose to work for a supervisor or manager that is moving around and
checking up on their employees, rather than a person hiding behind a desk the whole day delegating
work through a phone, calling employees to the office for instruction, or intercom. In the show, Dr.
House is rarely sitting in his office during the day. He is in and out of hospital rooms checking up on
doctors, nurses, and patients. As I explained before, he has some bizarre and questionable techniques,
but he has a better understanding of the situation in each room to make these decisions. A manager
sitting in an office and not leaving cannot and should not make these decisions because they do not
know the situation. Having that experienced individual around also helps boost the employee s
confidence because if there is a mess up, Dr. House will be watching over to ensure the procedures are
correct. Last, he understands each situation, and if a problem arises suddenly, he does not need a long
brief of what is going on. He can get right to work with the solution. An example from the episode I
watched is when he asked what time the class session is until it is over, and one of his doctors told him

Karl Marx And Max Weber
Karl Marx and Max Weber were influential sociologists that paved the way for modern sociological
school of thought. Both, Karl Marx and Max Weber contributed a lot to the study and foundation of
sociology. Without their contributions sociology would not be as prominent as it is today. From the
contribution of how sociology should be studied, to how they applied their theories to everyday life
has influenced many sociologists. Predominantly, both of these theorists discussed the effects of
capitalism, how it has developed, shaped and changed society into what it is today. Specifically, Karl
Marx s contribution of the bourgeoisie vs. the proletariat class and Max Weber s social stratification
has helped individuals to understand how modern day society has transformed into what it is today.

these two influential sociologists. Finally this essay will criticize both of these sociologists theories

deadline, make an identical phone to the Alpha model, and the price will be fourteen dollars for each
unit. This alternative will generate a profit $100,000.00, since cell phones would be sold at fifteen
dollars as shown in Table 1 3. The earning are not going to be substantial but at the end we are not
going to lose the customer; promote our company, attract potential customers, which will bring even
bigger profits to the company without cost control. Also we can expand the company and at the end is
going to generate new employments and the possibility of take the company to a major chain level. In
conclusion San Juan Cell Phones is a company that has the opportunity to grow and already have
products that gave them a good profit, but there is always some space to improve their products. At
this moment if when we use all the different strategies for the incorporation of new products starting
with the cost comparison, identify alternatives that increment the cost, analyze the different risk,
establish recommendation and elaborate a work plan that benefit the company. It is important to
always involve the personnel because they are the heavy bones

Dann (1981) and Masulis (1980) in their investigations of delicate offers have proposed and tried
individual duty theory to illustrate the increment in firm esteem going to stock repurchases. Their
study uncovered that the company s moguls who were in a high duty section, favored repurchases as a
method for circulation since the cohorted capital additions are liable to lower charges (especially if
deferred).the publication return reflected an increment in the after assessment worth of the firm
connected with the inferred change in appropriation approach.
Vermaelen (1981) inspected 131 purchase back delicate offers and credited the positive offer market
response to data indicating impact whereby the administration embraces purchase once more to
persuade the shareholders that the shares of the organization are undervalued. Grullon and Ikenberry
et al (1995 and 2000) have underpinned this contention. Wang Johnson (2005) likewise embraced the
thought that impart buyback is an administration device to pass on data to the business around a
guaranteeing organization future.

Loss Of Childhood In Marigolds By Eugenia Collier
In Marigolds by Eugenia Collier, Lizabeth is a 14 year old girl during the Great Depression. She
spends her days playing with the other children and occasionally annoying Ms. Lottie, a grumpy, old
lady that is very protective of her marigolds. One day the children throw rocks at Ms. Lottie s garden
and taunt her. That night she hears her father sobbing, this combined with the guilt of mocking Ms.
Lottie is too much for Lizabeth, and in a state of emotional unrest she runs to Ms. Lottie s garden and
destroys it. Lizabeth reminisces on this moment and recognizes it as her last act of childhood. In the
short story Marigolds , Eugenia W. Collier uses theme, characterization, and conflict to show the
challenges Lizabeth faced as she loses her innocence and matures. ... Show more content on

For example, after Lizabeth tears up the marigolds she sees Ms. Lottie and notes that, Whatever verve
there was left in her, whatever was of love and beauty and joy that had not been squeezed out by life,
had been there in the marigolds she had so tenderly cared for. (6) This quote shows the compassion
that Ms. Lottie had for her flowers. The hope the marigolds symbolized angered Lizabeth, because, in
her innocence, she envied the happiness the flowers gave Ms. Lottie. When Lizabeth saw Ms. Lottie s
face she lost her innocence and understood why Ms. Lottie planted the

To What Extent Is Hamlet A Tragic Hero
A tragic hero is a literary character who makes a judgement error that leads to his/her own destruction.
Also they come from high status and things that are good for them and a literary character who makes
an error of judgment or has a fatal flaw that, combined with fate and external forces, brings on a
tragedy Hamlet best trait is his downfall, his actions and tragic flaw is not his fault which makes him
even more of a tragic hero. He does not survive to see the full outcome of his actions because his
tragic flaw. His flaw is his indecision and hesitation which causes his downfall and downfall of others.
In the Shakespearean play Hamlet, Hamlet is a tragic hero as his flaw of indecision leads to
destruction.
Hamlet represents a tragic hero because he is in a high status position and his nobility which he has a
higher social status, character class, and virtue than a average person. ... Show more content on

One flaw that we connect with Hamlet is his indecision. Hamlet refused to kill claudius when he was
praying because he was scared that he would be sent to heaven and that it will not avenge his father
the right away. This shows his inability to make a decision quickly because he was too intellectual and
religious. Another one is not committing suicide because of our radical belief of religion. Hamlet was
thinking this, O, that this too too sullied flesh would melt, Thaw, and resolve itself into a dea, or that
the Everlasting had not fixed his canon gainst self slaughter! (Shakespeare 1.2.129). He is suicidal but
self slaughter is a sin in his eyes, which he can not commit. Another flaw that connects with Hamlet is
not knowing whether people are good or bad. Hamlet judges the ghost, Be thou a spirit of health or
goblin damned (Shakespeare 1.4.44). He doesn t know if the ghost is a good spirit or a cursed demon.
Hamlet indecision flaw makes him a tragic hero which the audience connects and relate

The American Prairie A Known Wonder
By: Avani Pammidimukkala #20 and
Tanvi Prem #24
Due Date: May 26th, 2016
Introduction When people think of the American Prairie, they think of a dull, and grassy full biome.
But, the American Prairie is an extremely fascinating biome. At first glance, this grassy biome may
look really dull and boring, but if you look deeper into it and feel nature playing its daily roles in this
prairie around you, then you will see how unique this biome is.
Location
The American Prairie is usually located at mid latitudes, such as the middle of North America.
Covered with grasses and numerous wild flowers, this area of land is huge. On the American prairie,
trees grow that well, due to the lack of not too much rain. But, there are still some trees, and if they are
there, they are regularly scattered very far apart. The American Prairie is located from the Great Plains
to southern Texas and Mexico that forms an area that looks like a triangle. This ... Show more content

Currently, this biome is experiencing a lot of human impact that affects the environment greatly. The
increased agricultural use of soil has created erosion, and its quality is going down. This is causing the
Bison and Pronghorn that live on the prairie to become almost extinct. The American Prairie grassland
is disappearing due to dividing up the land for farming and urban development. Dividing up the land
for farming is bad because the animals of the grasslands don t have any way to move around. Prairie
animals are also being endangered. When the prairie grassland is converted into cropland, it reduces
the food source for many wild animals. This can lead to migration or possibly the starvation of the
animals. Hundreds of animals have been hunted for valuable body parts. Also, bison have been hunted
for their meat. This caused animals to near extinction. Humans have also done much more damage to
this biome,

  • 2. Vitamins And Minerals Of Vitamins Vitamins and minerals The vitamins and minerals are substances found in our daily diet foods that promote healthy and balanced development of our body and are also called micronutrients because they are needed in small amounts thereof to achieve that function. Most essential vitamins can not be synthesized (produced) by the body, so it can obtain through the balanced intake of vitamins contained in natural foods. Vitamin deficiency is called hypovitaminosis while excessive vitamin level is called hypervitaminosis. Vitamins can be classified according to their solubility: if they are water soluble or are lipid soluble. In humans there are 13 vitamins are classified into two groups: (9) water soluble (8 B complex and vitamin C) and (4) soluble (A, D, E and K). Water soluble vitamins It is coenzymes or precursors of coenzymes, needed for many chemical reactions of metabolism, in this group of vitamins, vitamins B1 (thiamine), B2 (riboflavin), B3 (niacin or nicotinic acid), B5 (pantothenic acid), B6 (pyridoxine), B7 / B8 (biotin), B9 (folic acid), B12 (cobalamin) and vitamin C (ascorbic acid). • 3. Sexism In Afghanistan Over a decade of Western intervention in Afghanistan has opened the door for modernity but, cultural change is rarely linear. The history of Afghanistan through a feminist perspective truly indicates this non linear progress. Kevin Seiff wrote, Afghan women caught between modernity, tradition for The Washington Post. This article recounts the narrative of Farima; a young fiancée who sought to escape her arranged marriage. Seiff begins the article with Farima s attempt to escape her marital fate, Just before she leapt from her roof into the streets of Kabul, Farima thought of the wedding that would never happen and the man she would never marry {Seiff}. Farima saw suicide as the only way to escape tradition. The article discusses the fact ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Separation of religion from state, banning burqas, and raising the minimum age of marriage were part of the reforms that the PDPA implemented. Images from the 1970s depict young women walking to or from school sporting mini skirts and loose hair. These vintage pictures dramatically contrast pictures from modern Afghanistan, depicting women completely covered, head to toe in plain, blue textiles. The burqa was uncommon until the Taliban took over the country as a result of the Soviet Union toppling the nation s government, leading to civil conflict. The Taliban s re establishment of more Sharia Law resulted in the devolution of the culturally progressive legislature that was part of both President Daoud and the PDPA s respective agendas. It is common to analyze the cultural struggle between modernity and tradition through a western feminist lens that greatly relies on the juxtaposition of women before and after the establishment of the Taliban in Afghanistan. • 4. Analysis Of Tim Harford s The Undercover Economist Human beings have always sought after one goal: improving their lives. This naturally has to be done through learning more and making better decisions. Perhaps the most important field humanity has ever been a part of, economics provides us with the solutions and skills to increase the welfare and standard of living for all of us. From being able to determine whether a low income child gets an education to explaining why the washing machine was imperative to global development in the 20th century, economics has an unparalleled impact on the way every person runs their lives; it being such a powerful element of humanity makes it such an inviting prospect to study in the summer and later read at university. Having always questioned simple features and tendencies of everyday life that I suspected were largely deducible by economic theory I decided to read Tim Harford s The Undercover Economist . I particularly enjoyed at how he was able to address and analyse human properties of systems and use that to demonstrate why some fail and some work. I agreed with Harford s characterisation of scarcity power in which it is able to manipulate humanity s desire for special products and their lackadaisical attitude to finding better prices as well as his reasoning for the failure of Nepal s irrigation systems being due to lack of incentive for workers to collaborate thus heavily reducing effectiveness. This is one of the several manifestations of the ability of economics to provide us ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. English as a Second Language English as a second language is becoming more popular all across the globe. It is not surprising, because English is the main language of business and commerce, trade, advertising, sport, of science, medicine, education, of popular music, entertainment, computers, video games and the Internet. Most of the scientific, technological and academic information in the world is available primarily in English. English unites and connects people from many different countries and cultures more so than other languages. People around the globe learn English for different reasons. They study English because they want to have access to the information presented only in this language, some of them want to be able to communicate with more people wherever they go, others do it in order to obtain a good and well paid job or to study abroad. Nowadays knowledge of the English in Kazakhstan is no longer just a fad of intellectuals, but a vital necessity. Majority of students here starts attending English classes 3 or 4 times a week since the second grade, however most of them do not speak English at all, they do not even understand it. Their English is very poor. Students who learn English attending courses know many grammar rules excellently, but they find it difficult to apply it in practice, they cannot express their thoughts. I think it is because of the typical learning style here teacher oriented method, book centered method. Teacher usually speaks Russian in the classroom, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Making a wry comment on Australian politics, Sitch represents the PM s uninspiring private secretary Tony and the other political advisors as the hollow men of Australian politics. This is unequivocally conveyed through the verisimilitude of the time date [quote/example], and panning images of Canberra. In naming the PM s advisors the central policy unit or CPU , Sitch mocks the bureaucratic jargon which seems to define the policy making process. This is further developed through constant use of political jargon, where the prime minister announces new policy with a series of meaningless phrases such as raft of measures , speaking to all stakeholders , and provisional policy . , The superficial, short sighted and self serving nature of political decisions humourously conveyed through the advisor Mel s concern, should we announce it at a hospital or at parliament ? , before the policy is even named, satirising the reactionary and appearance obsessed values of ... • 7. We Need The Microwave Can Be Good, But Dangerous With Sparky Microwave can be good, but dangerous with sparky You should not put sparky in the microwave because you might damage your expensive microwaves. Nowadays, microwaves are commonly used due to their rapidity in getting our food or drinks warm. However, most people are ignorant of the fact that not all objects can get into our microwaves, it does not matter how expensive or cheap the microwave is. Without withstanding as Sophocles said the only crime is pride is important for us not to ignore some important cause of sparks in our microwaves; a piece of metal forgotten in a microwave is enough to cause a spark, this is also the same with the use of foil covering as many who have tried using it will agree with me they experienced a spark of fire burnt. Again sometimes the spark in the microwave could be as a result of high voltage, it can also be as a result of damage rack support, which can cause the microwaves to peel and as such causing the heat coming from the microwave to have direct contact with the peeled surfaced, thereby causing an explosion. Moreover, as Linder Fisher Thornton said, Face the complexity involved in making ethical choices. Though some people will be aware of the danger in putting sparky objects in the microwaves, others will still make a choice to try, as but this can lead to some consequences like damaging our microwaves, this is true as Caroline A Ross a Toyota professor of material and science engineering says that a metal ... Unconventional viewpoints towards war are often portrayed in classic literature from the perspective of its soldiers. Kurt Vonnegut, in his novel Slaughterhouse Five, writes the story of Billy Pilgrim, a WWII veteran with PTSD who lives his life stuck in time . Throughout the non chronological course of the novel, Pilgrim questions his faith and purpose and eventually becomes trapped in his own fantastical reality as an attempt to escape his horrific memories of the war. Yossarian, in Joseph Heller s Catch 22, also relies on escapism to make it through his own experience in WWII. After a series of traumatic events leads to many of his comrades dying, he runs from the war and escapes to Sweden. His lack of faith in religion, his superiors, and purpose of the war leads to Yossarian s escape to Sweden, a country free of American influence. Pilgrim and Yossarian s integrity and sanity is consistently questionable, as well as their sanity during and after the war. • 11. Peplau s Theory Of Interpersonal And Inductive Reasoning Deductive Reasoning Peplau utilized both deductive and inductive reasoning in her theory development work (Reed Shearer, 2011). The deductive reasoning methods used were that Peplau integrated ideas from a number of theories into her theory of interpersonal relations. Influenced by works of Sigmund Freud, particularly his interest in unconscious motivation as well as Harry S. Sullivan s theory of interpersonal relations all contributed to her development of the theory of interpersonal processes in nursing, For example she refers to Sullivan s concepts of anxiety, self system and modes of experiencing. (Peterson Bredow, 2017). She also incorporated into her theory some elements from developmental psychology and learning theory (Armstrong Kelly, 1995) and some ideas of the humanistic psychologists, Abraham Maslow, Rollo May and Carl Rogers. (Peterson Bredow, 2017). For example, Peplau s systematic approach to establishment of nurse patient relationship and therapeutic intervention are ideas that resonated with Martha Rogers theoretical assumptions about human pattern and organization. (Armstrong Kelly, 1995). Inductive Reasoning Peplau defined her inductive approach in both general and specific terms. The inductive approach for concept naming are described in several steps (a) observing behaviors for which no explanatory concepts are available, (b) seeking to repeat those observations in others under similar conditions, (c) noting regularities concerning the ... • 13. Examples Of Intellectual Oppression In Inherit The Wind Challenging Intellectual Oppression Throughout the history of the United States, there have been many issues that have impacted the future of American life. In 1925, in the small town of Dayton, Tennessee, a local school teacher went on trial for teaching evolution in the local school. Twenty five years later, Senator Joseph McCarthy, began the movement known as the red scare in which he began to pick out Communists in the community. Both of these instances initiated much questioning of civil rights, and civil liberties. Through the play Inherit the Wind, the two playwrights Jerome Lawrence and Robert E. Lee, show the dangers of intellectual oppression with the Story of Bert Cates, and the well known monkey trial . In the small town of Hillsboro, a well known school teacher is put on trial for teaching evolution in the local school. Matthew Harrison Brady, a three time presidential candidate, comes to prosecute Bert Cates. While Henry drummond, his direct opposite, comes to defend Mr. Cates and the freedom to think. E.K. Hornbeck, a big city skeptic, travels to Hillsboro to document the trial, and write about it in the Newspaper. Bert Cates companion, Rachel, models the type of progressiveness that the two playwrights hope Americans can learn from. Before Milgram s findings, the fact that people were inclined to obey to authority figures was already realized. He just confirmed this belief. Milgram followed effective steps by using precise procedures. He made sure that the experiment reflected features of an actual situation in which a person would obey to an authority figure: offering compensation (monetary reward in this experiment), being under pressure (Prods 1 to 4 in this case), and mentioning that the person who obeys can withdraw. These features can also be seen in a situation where a soldier is commanded to fire, for instance. A soldier will get a monetary compensation, is under pressure to obey because he chose to be part of the military, and he knows that he can resign at any time. Milgram created an experiment so precise and detailed that more than enough evidence was demonstrated. My Reflection Of Skype Skype Reflection I will start by saying that our conversations with everyone over Skype has been my favorite thing I have had the pleasure to do since I have been in college. It was different, informative, intriguing, and easily the most interesting exchange I have ever had. I not only appreciate having been given the opportunity to be a part of this conversation, but feel fortunate to have taken part in learning about others and their way of life. After speaking with Chris Saunders and Panos and Stefania, I re read Hofstede s dimensions and felt I learned more and understood it better after speaking with them. I feel that I can read something repeatedly, but having a good example and seeing it first hand is the best learning experience I can have. To have a good take away from the book with an even better example was the best way to learn this subject. When speaking to Chris Saunders from Wales and England, I first noticed that he seemed as nervous as we did. He was able to answer our questions with great content and was really funny. I felt that he had a great amount of individuality and held true to his own beliefs. I also feel that Chris showed that he fits into the masculinity dimension as he is successful as a writer and driven as a teacher. Since he has moved around so much, he shows that he personally has a low uncertainty avoidance, as he can take risks and is less resistant to change. An example of this is he was able to move to China, not knowing much about the culture or the language and take the changes as they came at him. When it came to talking to Chris, I think what surprised me the most was that there is a gap between 16 and 18 from what we would call high school to college. In the United States kids wouldn t know what to do with themselves and I can t imagine what kind of trouble they would get into. It also surprised me that he has lived in so many places. He has had the opportunity to learn so about so many cultures and meet so many people and that is incredible. My impressions of Chris were that he is very intelligent and funny. • 22. Beaker Bell Pottery The appearance of Beaker Bell pottery in Europe is one ceramic innovation which is still not fully understood today (Waddell 2010, 121) as their distribution is irregular stretching from Hungary to Ireland. Several Beaker Bell pottery types have been identified in Britain and Ireland; those of different sizes, ware type (ibid). Many of the pottery that has survived in Ireland are those which have been used for burial, although also used for drinking, storage and cooking (Gibson 2002, In: Waddell 2010, 121). Residue analysis showed the pottery was used for holding alcohol and drugs, but as the pots themselves would not hold liquids for long it was like a prehistoric drinking challenge (Guerra Doce 2006, 248). Pottery sherds have been uncovered from a number of settlements in Ireland; Dublin, Limerick, Meath and Tyrone to name a few locations. It was only when wedge tombs were excavated in the 1930s that there was actual proof of Beaker Bell existence in Ireland and from that it was assumed the people were an important component of the Irish population at that time (Waddell 2010, 129) and they were also recognised as the people that introduced the understanding of metal working to Ireland. The Beaker Folk are all connected by their similar techniques and artefacts but their geographical location seems to be an influence in their day to day practices, for example the stark difference in Irish and British Beaker Bell funerary rituals (Waddell 2010, 130). From various sources, the past experience and state of mind, the consumer may determine the impact that advertising has on him/her. In an effort to improve messaging and to gain the audience s attention, advertisers create some special moments to resonate the mind of the target customer and motivate the audience to purchase the advertised product or service (Chakrabortty, Hossain, Azad, Jakirul, 2013). Accounting for Leases 4 Introduction Accounting for leases is regulated by the Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB) in United States .Standards for accounting leases have been effective since 1977 (Accounting Standard Board, 2004). The primary standard for lease accounting is Statement of Financial Accounting Standards No. 13 (FAS 13). According to FASB (1976), a lease is an agreement conveying the right to use property, plant, and equipment (PPE) usually for a stated period of time. Examples of assets that can be leased include land, buildings, and plant amp; equipment. FASB classified lease as an operating lease or a capital lease (finance lease). Furthermore, FASB wish to produce a common standard on lease accounting to have higher level of transparency and comparability to financial statements and to improve on the understanding of financial reporting (Altamuro, 2005). The proposed new accounting standards treat all leases as capital leases. This will get rid of the difference between capital leases and operating leases (Nobes, 2004).FASB and IASB consider that when issuing a lease contract, a lessee has attained an asset through its right to use the asset and recognized a liability through its duty to pay rentals. Using the new standard, a lessee is required to record an asset on behalf of its right to use the leased item on an agreed term and a liability for its obligation to make pay rental fees. As for primary measurement, it was cautiously decided that the lessee would record the asset at cost, which would equal the present value of the lease payments discounted at the lessee s incremental borrowing rate. The obligation to make rent payments would be recorded at the present value of the lease payments, discounted at the lessee s incremental borrowing rate (Ochoa, 2011). After several meetings, the Boards decided to implement the performance obligation approach to lessor accounting where a lessor would identify an asset representing its right to receive rental payments and distinguish a liability representing its performance obligation under the lease (Elena et.al., 2009). Between the 16th and 20th century, 10 to 15 million enslaved Africans were forcibly shipped across the Atlantic. The conditions were incredibly harsh on the Middle Passage . When the ships docked at port for rest, there was always a chance that they could be attacked from enemies or pirates. They were even sometimes attacked by native tribes if they did not like their arrival. If the ships were faced with bad weather conditions, it would make the journey longer. Due to this the daily food rations the slaves had twice a day would be reduced greatly which resulted in many of them getting sick or nearly starving to death. These weather conditions affected both the crew and captain as well as the enslaved Africans, but the conditions were much worse for the enslaved Africans as they also dealt with mental, physical, and sexual abuse/assault from the captain and crew. These punishments were mainly due to rebellion of the enslaved Africans. Due to the slaves outnumbering the crew, they thought the rebellion would be successful. In contrast to individuals struggling within Liquid asset poverty, the liquid asset rich individuals place other considerations onto the real estate markets. Since the measure of liquid asset poverty is a consideration of the amount of capital necessary over time, once the three months marker is met the metric lacks any definition as to what liquid asset wealth is measured by. For purposes of this research, I will define liquid asset wealth as a ceiling value of six months of living costs saved within easily liquidated assets. While it may be helpful to understand the effects of high liquid wealth within a context of real estate development, the author understands that an increase in wealth will not necessitate an increase in liquid assets due to the lower return on investment compared to illiquid assets. An investor who has more than six months of assets stored in a liquid manner is likely to not be using their assets in a responsible manner, assuming a reasonable investing market, it would be unlikely to see liquid assets rise with wealth instead of simply plateauing. The effects of these wealthier individuals has been documented within the work of Rodrigo Fernandez, annelore Hofman and Manuel B Aalbers in their article, London and New York as a safe deposit box for the transnational wealth elite.
