1. Essays On Gender
Writing an essay on the topic of gender is a multifaceted endeavor that requires careful
consideration, sensitivity, and depth of understanding. Exploring the complexities of gender
identity, roles, and societal constructs demands thorough research, critical analysis, and nuanced
perspectives.
One of the primary challenges in crafting such an essay lies in navigating the diverse array of
viewpoints and experiences surrounding gender. Gender is not a monolithic concept but rather a
spectrum encompassing a myriad of identities and intersections, including but not limited to
masculinity, femininity, non-binary, transgender, and genderqueer experiences. Addressing these
diverse perspectives with respect and inclusivity is essential to fostering meaningful dialogue and
promoting understanding.
Moreover, delving into the historical, cultural, and sociopolitical dimensions of gender
necessitates grappling with complex theories and frameworks. From feminist theory to queer
theory, postcolonial perspectives to intersectional analyses, the landscape of gender studies is
vast and continuously evolving. Synthesizing these various theoretical perspectives while
maintaining coherence and clarity can pose a significant intellectual challenge.
Additionally, writing an essay on gender requires a keen awareness of the power dynamics and
inequalities that permeate gender relations. Examining issues such as patriarchy, misogyny,
sexism, and gender-based violence demands a critical lens and a commitment to social justice. It
also requires sensitivity to the lived experiences of marginalized communities, including women,
LGBTQ+ individuals, people of color, and individuals with intersecting identities.
Furthermore, engaging in discussions about gender inevitably invites personal introspection and
reflexivity. As writers, we must interrogate our own biases, privileges, and blind spots,
recognizing the limitations of our perspectives while striving for greater empathy and
understanding.
In conclusion, writing an essay on the topic of gender is a challenging yet essential endeavor that
requires intellectual rigor, empathy, and a commitment to social justice. By navigating the
complexities of gender with humility and open-mindedness, we can contribute to broader
conversations about equality, diversity, and inclusion.

2. The Red Tent Gender Roles
The role and strength of women in a male dominated society in biblical times is the
fundamental theme of The Red Tent. The red tent is a physical and spiritual place,
where the women of Jacob s tribe his wives, servants and daughters, could rest while
menstruating and childbearing, but more importantly, it became a safe shelter for
feminist unity and companionship. The red tent provides all the women a haven to
be in their power together, to learn from one another, to be part of a community, and
to celebrate their lives without any disturbance from the male chauvinism. In the red
tent , women such as Leah, Dinah and Rachel are able to play critical and decisive
roles protectors, friends and teachers.

Rachel is Jacob s favored and primary wife. (Stacy, 2002, 24) Early in the novel,
Rachel stands out initially for her beauty and magnetism. There is no denying that
Rachel is a professional and sagacious teacher for Dinah, her medical skill is so
superb and brilliant that she has cured and saved many lives of mothers and their
babies. In Dinah s mind, Rachel [knows] everything about delivering babies, she and
Inna [try] to learn what they might from women wherever they [go]. (Anita, 2007,
234) Moreover, Rachel teaches Dinah not only knowledge and technique about
delivering babies but also female values and philosophy about love, dedication and
sacrifice. She is only one in the red tent who brings Dinah out of the red tent and
encourages her to purser the true love bravely; she has given Dinah many spiritual
supports and guidance. Furthermore, Rachel is a great teacher for Dinah and other
women who live in the red tent. According to Reading the Women of the Bible, in the
biblical time, women were undermined by the society in which they live in. They
spent almost all their adult lives producing and looking after children. Under this
circumstance, education was limited and very few outdoor jobs were available to
all women, they had to stay inside the red tent for their whole lives. They were
expected to marry and look after family because men have normally held power.
However, as the midwife, Rachel seizes the opportunity to experience the world
outsider the red tent , she can learn something new and different from the outsider so
that she could teach other women about what she sees and hears. Rachel [becomes]
their link to the larger world. (Anita, 2007, 79) She provides women freedom freedom
of thought, freedom of information and freedom of communication under this male

3. Jumbo Wild Persuasive Essay
Environmentalism has always been two sided. Nature versus urban. locals versus
national. Frequently, large tracts of public and federal land are bought and developed
by industry. Pristine wilderness turned to bustling epicenters of human activity, all in
the name of progress and economic growth. This tale of preserving natural wilderness
is one that begins with John Muir, an advocate against the taming of Yosemite
national park and the Hetch Hetchy reservoir, while the head of the US Forest
Service, Gifford Pinchot, insisted on the reservoir to supply the city of San Francisco
with water. This timeless epic of conservation or preservation brings us to the Jumbo

Aiko Yamashiro is a poet, English major, and the author of Values of Hawai i 2:
Ancestral Roots, Oceanic Views which she published on May 10th, 2017. She
compiled stories relating to the values of Hawaii, including the poem I am a Farmer
by U ilani Hideko Kalawe O Kou Ola Ana Kokaua Pulama Arasato. Arasato writes I
am a farmerin the first person perspective; You should stop and listen, the aina is
trying to speak. Reinforces that Arasato is explaining a situation to everyone about
the lands of Hawaii. Arasato s purpose in I am a Farmer is to illustrate events that
influenced Hawai i land. From ancient Hawaiian times, during the time the Ali i
ruled, to modern day Hawaii, the land in which generations were promised, slowly
disappeared as hungry real estate people bought it up. Infuriating, feeling betrayed,
and being voided of their land brings darkness to the farmers and the reason why
Arasato creates this poem to explain the history of farmers suffering. I agree with
Arasato s claim that the farming land was wrongfully taken and deserves to be
given back to those who rightfully own them because Hawaii is a place of fertility
and where farmers thrive to grow food for its people. It s been a heritage for
generations and if people take care of the land, the land will surely provide back.
Therefore, the poem I am a Farmer explains the history of farming in Hawaii by
relating to the past, explaining the challenges faced, and what the future of farming
can be if the
5. William Hazlitt On The Want Of Money Purpose
The nineteenth century writer, William Hazlitt, writes of his opinion on money in
his essay, On the Want of Money. Hazlitt s purpose is to create a vivid picture of
what living without money is like. He establishes a harsh tone in order to persuade
his readers to believe that life without money is miserable. Hazlitt uses diction to
support his assertion that a life without money is worthless. When he writes,
Literally and truly, one cannot get on well in the world without money(Hazlitt, lines
1 2), he emphasizes his statement by using words that have nearly the same
definition. He uses diction in order to make the reader understand what life is like
without money. By using this rhetorical device, Hazlitt paints a picture of the
wretched life of individuals that lack money. Hazlitt similarly uses syntax in his
essay to show how bad it is to live without money and how great it is to live with it.

He continues to use the words, it is, referring to the want of money and what it

money. The anaphora used by Hazlitt develops his claim that having no money will
never do any good for people. Hazlitt uses paradox throughout the passage to show
that money is good but also evil. Hazlitt writes, To be in want of it, is to pass
through life with little credit or pleasure...(Hazlitt lines 2 3), this passage claims
that if you always want more money you will never be satisfied. But he also writes,
...one cannot get on well in the world without money(Hazlitt line 1 2), which
expresses that without money life will not be good. He uses paradox to show the
differing evils that money can create in a person s life. His use of paradox instigates
thought in the reader s mind of how money affects

New York has joined 16 other States and the district of Columbia in the abrogation of
the mandatory regulation that required nurse practitioner to deliver primary care
under the supervision of a physician. Dr. Jauhar, explained that the reason behind this
law is due to the scarcity in the expanse of primary care physicians. He argued that
Nurse Practitioners are thought to be cost effective because they are remunerated
lesser than medical doctors, however, that s not the case Mr. Jauhar elaborated that

In his closing remarks, he makes an authoritative and disparaging statement that
primary care providers should be doctors and an increment in salary will attract the
best from medical school. This suggest that money is force as to why individuals
become physician and patient care is the reason why individuals enter the field of
nursing. Overall, sentences are well structured and is easily understandable to the
audience who are not in the healthcare field.
There is no falsehood that there has a been a shortage in primary care physicians.
Petterson, Liaw, Tran, Bazemore (2015), anticipated a shortage of over 33,000
primary care physicians by 2035. The American Association of Nurse Practitioners
(2012) describes Nurse practitioners as registered nurses who have innovative
knowledge, enhanced clinical training and have completed graduate or doctoral
degree from an accredited institution. Nurse practitioners are contributing
tremendously to the field of nursing and health care by providing high quality
primary care especially to low income and minorities nationwide. In reference to
Ryan Rahman (2012), in rural communities, there s a high demand for primary care
and a shortage of primary care providers, however, nurse practitioners are willing to
fill the void and provide health care services such in communities even when
physicians are unwilling.

10. The End Of The Cold War Between The United States And...
The end of the Cold War between the United States and Soviet Unions was a start for
a new Western order. Many expected that it would be peaceful, free trade and
expanding markets and cooperation among states (Hawthorn, 1999). However, some
scholars might argue that neoliberalism preserved the dominance of wealthy states. A
variety of different arguments have been raised taking into consideration democracy
and international order. This essay will consider three different theoretical
perspectives on the topic through summarising the key points and analysing the
strengths and weaknesses of these perspectives. Firstly, American hegemonywill be
considered, secondly, civic identity of the Western political order will be discussed
and finally, economic openness liberal order will be taken into account.
One of the major realist dimensions for the Western political order is American
hegemony. With the end of the Cold War
, American hegemony appeared to be the
supreme power of the world (Deudney and Ikenberry, 1999). It can be seen, American
economic power revealed in international financial institutions such as IMF, WB and
WTO. As a dominant member in WTO, the United StatesForced the weaker states to
accept the organization s rules on international trade, otherwise, they will lose if they
choose not to follow the rules (Hawthorn, 1999). In addition, Deudney and Ikenberry
(1999) state that liberals see transnational relations as the establishment of alternative

Castles, palaces, and cathedrals are scattered across Europe. Each one possesses
unique characteristics and architecture bearing resemblance of their time. Some
castles incorporate Greek influence, roman or gothic influence in design. Other
castles and palaces are surrounded by sculptures outside in the courtyard or include
sculptures worshiped as an altarpiece. While any one of these things would serve to
make an ordinary castle more elaborate there is one palace that possesses all of
these: The Palace of Versailles in France. The Palace of Versailles has managed to
incorporate classic architecture, exquisite sculptures, and amalgamated the old design
with the newer design trends of the day.
The palace of Versailles contains architecture from the Greek, Roman, and Gothic
eras. The Greeks used Doric, Ionic, Corinthian order columns in their architecture

manual labor movement and mechanics institutes. The contributions of several
educational leaders and their importance to the teaching field and vocational
education are discussed. Other represented achievements from the Morrill Act, the
Hampton Institute, and the Kalamazoo Case are discussed and their significance in
the history of vocational education.
The Manual Labor Movement
During the early 1800 s, different schools served different functions. Mechanic s
Institutes combined practice with the study of science. Lyceums attended to cultural
as well as educational needs and aroused interest in agricultural and industrial
education. The manual labor movement attempted to meet the needs of the farmer,
mechanic, vocational education, and a way of satisfying a practical need of a
population. In addition, Manual Labor Academies included academic studies as well
as time working in a shop. The Education committee felt this combination of studies
and labor contributed to the development of a better citizen. The combination of labor
and education created a strong base for vocational education. Although the manual

In the seventh paragraph of his speech, he develops the solution to their problems,

animals have for Old Major, as he raises his trotter to silence the barn. This shows us
that the animals will do what he says, and believe what he is telling them.

and the income they receive from them. Some people argue that if physician
assisted suicides were legalized that a lot of people would be tempted and would
most like to take that option. As a sort of easy way out of their situation. This in turn
would decrease the hospitals income, their equipment and possibly diminish their
staff. Once all that has happened the quality of healthcare will lower as well. Due to
outdated equipment and medicine, not enough staff to cover everybody. Also
hospital would start to greatly rely on more government funds, fundraisers and would

people can barely afford without insurance. Physicians could suffer as well through

great amounts of guilt. Which would affect his work and family life. The patients
family as well might start giving the physician grief and trouble. Just for doing his or

20. The Glorious Revolution of 1688 Essay
The Glorious Revolution of 1688 The theme of autonomy and responsibility is
prevalent in many major wars of revolution throughout the history of the world and
especially in the events that occurred in England during the seventeenth century.
Autonomy is defined as self government and existing or functioning independently.
Responsibility is having obligations or duties to something and being able to
distinguish between right and wrong. In England, the political leaders drove King
James II out of the country in order to end his oppressive rule as an absolute
monarch. The Dutch Prince William of Orange, James son in law, invaded England

They wanted them to come to England and take over the throne. Hearing the news
of William s invasion, James and his family fled to France. The Parliament chose
to treat his flight as an abdication of the throne and William and Mary took the
throne.3 The people of England, acting through Parliament, decided that they
wanted to have more autonomy in government decisions. They disposed of the
absolute monarchy, which oppressed their voice in decision making in
government. Parliament gave the throne to William and Mary with certain
restrictions on their sovereignty that gave Parliament more responsibility in the
government. Prince William of Orange William came to England because he
wanted to head the government. He would settle for nothing less than the crown. 4
William and his army landed in England at Torbay in November of 1688. He made
promises to protect England s liberty and the Protestant religion. William made his
way to London without meeting any opposition.5 Although William wanted all of
the executive power, he allowed his wife Mary to share the title in order to stay on
the good side of the Tory party. A dual monarchy was created and the crown was
formally offered to William and Mary in Westminster Abbey in April. The two
shared the dignity of the title equally, for it was made clear that when one of them
died, the other would become sole ruler. 6 However, while William was alive,

Empathy is used to describe a wide range of experiences. It is the capacity to share
and understand other people s emotions and another s state of mind . Empathy is
being able to imagine what someone else might be thinking or feeling while
maintaining a state of vulnerability to one s previous experiences, biases, and
emotions. Empathyis a very powerful concept that is often misunderstood or
discounted for its importance, especially for health care professionals. The use of
empathy, vulnerability, and compassion are traits that can be learned, and it
determines someone s emotional intelligence. This paper will discuss the major
concepts, history, and definitions of emotional intelligence. Furthermore, it will delve
into the application in nursing practice, my own personal practice, as well as how it
has led to my personal growth. Utilizing the leadership role of emotional intelligence
allows nurses and other professionals to become vulnerable in their practice in order
to build strong connections, relationships, and most importantly, to become more
connected with themselves. This leadership role will set us up for success in order to
create an environment for optimal functioning, and to achieve the desired therapeutic
results for our patients.

that different types of intelligence were defined. It was proposed by a man named

They can last from a couple days or as long as ten months and may be followed by
flank eruptions. The lava flows from Mauna Loa are frequent and high volume.
The long lengths of these flows and the fluidity results in the high velocities of the
lava flow on steep slopes. This makes Mauna Loa much more potentially dangerous
than other volcanoes. Below is a picture of the 1984 eruption in the northeast rift

major risk to those living there. The lava from the volcano can flow rapidly down
the slope and destroy anything in its path; this includes any housing or buildings.
With that said, $2.3 billion dollars since 1984 have been invested in building new
homes on the slopes of Mauna Loa. There are about 75,000 people living near

24. What Went Wrong At Boeing
The 787 was conceived as a revolutionary design that would be a replacement for the
aging 767, cost about the same, but be 20% more fuel efficient. It would accomplish
this by utilizing a construction of 50% composite something never before attempted
in the commercial aviation arena. In summary, Boeing was endeavoring to build a
brand new clean sheet aircraft from materials never used, using methods never
attempted, and using a supply chain more far reaching than ever experienced by the
plane maker.
In retrospect, it may be easy to see why the 787 has had so many problems. The
problems are so large that Forbes was prompted to publish an article titled, What
Went Wrong at Boeing. (Denning 2013) Boeing has worked through most of its
supply chain woes and has delivered over 60 787s to date. Boeing is now designing a
next generation version of its supremely popular 777, the 777 8/9.
Boeing s desire to reduce costs and production time by relying risk taking suppliers
to design and produce major aircraft components has led to many failures and cost
overruns in the 787 program. In order for Boeing to avoid the pitfalls of the 787
program, Boeing must take the lessons of the past in concert with good technology to
ensure good management of the new 777 supply chain. Literature Review

In William Shakespeare s play, Titus Andronicus, the main character Titus
Andronicus is a perfect example of the never ending cycle of vengeance.
Throughout the play, Titus and Tamora seek resolution and closure through
revenge. Throughout the play, these characters do not realize the resolution to
their war over vengeance is making peace. When one person chooses to get back
at the other this creates a never ending loop of revenge or topping one another s
conflict. The key to success in this situation would be for one to make peace, and
in this play you will discover how these characters brought closure to their cycle of
never ending vengeance. In the play, the audience is shown how vengeance
controls one s perspective. In other words, vengeance can impact and skew ones
view on life and negatively impair one s decisions. The audience understands from
the beginning of the play how Tamora s positive and sympathetic character is very
evident; although, in Act II, her mind and actions has been dramatically skewed
and twisted. Tamora s attitude has been overcome by vengeance as she says, But

Throughout history, people have consistently tried to prove that groups with inborn
qualities can either vastly improve or degenerate different races over time. This
rhetoric has been proven multiple times throughout the course of the last century in
the United States and Nazi reigned Germany. Supposedly, this rhetoric has been
disproven throughout the United States; however, there are proven accounts that the
United States government has recently supported this theory of sterilization of
minorities by supporting the eugenicsmovement, which was not only in Nazi
Germany, but also on United States soil. The topic of improving the genetic makeup
of different races has not only just become a common theme for many modern day
countries to use to make their societies more genetically fit. However, it has adopted
the basis for current racismthat is clearly apparent in today s society. If improving
genetic fitness was not a concern to past societies, then people in general would be a
lot more open to interracial and cross cultural relationships rather than completely
disregarding the idea of dating someone that is visibly genetically different.
Historically speaking, Americans and the United States government have consistently
had many issues of not recognizing their faults towards current situations that could
potentially be avoided. From the War on Terror and the Black Lives Matter

our industry lies in how best we can integrate and communicate all our work with
various stakeholders to manage a project efficiently. This has given rise to an area
called construction informatics where a significant amount of research is being done.
The area deals with a range of subjects from integration to interoperability and from
knowledge mining to strategic management. This area came into existence from two
fields. The first was the use of computers to design and carry out time and cost

information. Currently, integration, interoperability, innovation along with strategic
management of Information and Communication Technologies are the key areas of

Edgar Degas was largely associated with the Impressionism art movement during the
late 19th century. Even though Degas himself would probably never call himself an
Impressionistic painter, he was one of the group s founders, an organizer of its
exhibitions, and one of its most important core members (Schenkel). The
Impressionismmovement had its origins from earlier movements of naturalism and
plein air, or painting in open air, methods. Impressionism also drew from the
woodblock prints in Japonism. Impressionism at its core was about capturing fleeting
moments in time and focusing on realistic depictions of light. Edgar Degas s
contribution to the movement came in the form of paintings and sculptures. It is
interesting to note that even though he is considered one of the founders of the art
movement, he often considered himself separate from his contemporaries. His own
works reflect that as he often painted indoors rather than the characteristic plein air
methods of other artists within the movement. His most famous subjects were his
paintings depicting ballet set largely indoors with artificial light. So while these
characteristics would be considered contradictory to Impressionism, it was Degas

A few scientists who lived just before Newton s life were Nicolaus Copernicus,
Galileo Galilei, Robert Hooke. Copernicus discovered the heliocentric theory. This
idea was revolutionary because before his theory, people believed that the sun
revolved around the earth (geocentric theory). However, Copernicus presented the
theory that the earth revolved around the sun (heliocentric theory). Another
scientist, Galileo Galilei, created the first telescope. Thus, with his new invention,
he was able to see the Milky Way, features of the Moon, and Jupiter s moons. While
observing Jupiter s moons, he saw that the moons orbited around Jupiter, not earth.
With this new information, he was able to disprove the geocentric theory because
Jupiter s moons did not orbit around Earth, but rather Jupiter. Galileo also found
that everything fell at the same speed. He tested this theory by dropping two balls
(one heavier and one lighter) off of the Leaning Tower of Pisa. They both hit the
ground at the same time ( Astronomy and Space for Kids ). In addition, Galileo
proposed the idea of inertia ( The Scientific Revolution ). Robert Hooke was another
notable scientist of that time. Hooke created the law of elasticity. This law states
that, the stretching of a solid body (e.g., metal, wood) is proportional to the force
applied to it (The Editors of Encyclopædia Britannica). Hooke also invented the
Gregorian reflecting telescope. Through this invention

types of batteries typically weigh at 5kg, but can range from half a kilogram to over
30 kilograms on the consumer market. Though their chemistry means a very low
energy to weight and energy to volume ratio in comparison to other modern batteries,
their ability to supply high surge currents means that the cells maintain a large power
to weight ratio. This makes them highly desirable for use in large appliances such as
motor vehicles, which require the high current provided by this type of battery. In
comparison, Button cells are much smaller than lead acid cells.... Show more content

Common anode materials are zinc or lithium, and there are a range of cathode
materials, including manganese dioxide, silver oxide, and cupric oxide. Of
notable mention is the mercuric oxide button cell, which was banned due to the
toxicity and environmental hazard of mercury. Reaction between silver oxide
(cathode) and zinc (anode): Zn + Ag2O ZnO + 2Ag These batteries are dry
batteries, and are created with the ideal of a long lifetime. As such, they rarely leak
if ever, and boast a steady electricity production over a long period of time. Both
Lead acid cells and button cells rely on chemical reactions for the production of
their energy. However, where a lead acid cell would typically use an anode and
cathode within a liquid or gel medium, button cells use solid anode and cathodes
which react with each other through a separator. This reflects their uses; where the
chemistry of a lead acid battery allows it to produce large amounts of electricity in
surges as needed to start appliances such as motor vehicles, the chemistry of Button
cells allows for a slow and steady release of small amounts of charge. Cost and
Practicality As was reflected upon under the chemistry subtitle, the batteries have
been designed, and retain their designs, to specifically fit their uses. Though the size
of the lead acid batteries does not allow for the powering of small portable devices
such as watches,
41. The Pros And Cons Of Year-Round Schooling
The final bell rings. It s the last day of school, and summer has finally come!
Students don t have to think about school for at least another 2 1/2 months. That
is the way it should always be. Schools should continue using the traditional
calendar and not a year round schedule. There are numerous downsides to year
round schooling. It has not been proven that it has positive effects on education, it
adds to costs, and it disrupts the long awaited summer vacation. Contrary to the
well accepted belief, year round schooling has no constructive impact on
education. Most year round schedules use the 45 15 method: 45 days of school
followed by 15 days off. Because of this, there are many first and last days of
school. All those transitions disrupt the learning process. Also, there is no
evidence of higher test scores. Due to that, many schools that change to year round
schedules end up switching back. For example, since 1980, 95 percent of schools
that tried the year round schedule changed back to a traditional calendar. It is
obvious that changing to year round schooling does not help students; therefore,
why is the change necessary? Like any other facility, keeping a school open
requires a great deal of money. When a school changes to a year round schedule,
the costs skyrocket. Keeping school open in the middle of summer requires air
conditioning, and that adds significantly to the school s expenses. The usual utility
bills grow because of the additional open school time. Finally, teachers must be paid
for all the weeks they are working. With all these factors, the cost of keeping
schools open becomes immensely high. For example, a high school in Arizona had
a cost increase of $157,000 when they switched to year round schooling. Some
schools may not be able to handle such increases, and other schools that can handle
these expenses could be doing better things with the money. Is year round school
really where the money should go? An important part of a child s life is summertime.
With year round schedules, students would hardly have any time to relax. During the
15 day breaks, they would be thinking about their quick return to school. It would
also be difficult to coordinate family vacations with parents work
42. Onward Matt Character Traits
Unit 3 Character Analysis Without the cranes cable holding us, we would have
been tipped out into the sea. I hauled myself to the high side and the last light flight
line. That right there is bravery. Many characters might have the trait bravery. In
the books of Airborn, Onward, and Team Moon the characters in the books have
bravery, leadership, smarts, and grit. In Airborn Matt. C has the most bravery and
grit. Matt. C is brave because he was sent onto an hot air balloon that was on fire!
He also has grit because he didn t give up. In the book Airborn it states, They
winched me up a little so it was like sitting on a swing. Up close, the davits arm
seemed a frail enough bit of metal to hang your life upon, Airborn also states,
Despite being hooked to the davit, the gondola was dragging the great balloon ever
closer to the Aurora s hull and engines. The evidence shows he had grit and bravery
because he kept doing his job even though he was close to hitting the Aurora s... Show

H had leadership, grit, and the smarts. He had those traits because he was a leader
leading people to the north pole, he had grit because it took him six time to make
it, and he had smarts because he knew were to go and what people to recruit. In the
book Onward it states, After Henson and Peary persuaded Inuit families to join the
expedition, they all sailed to Cape Sheridan in an ice busting, gut wrenching
voyage that took two weeks. That shows he had leadership because he was going
to lead many Inuit people to the north pole. In Onward it also states, He unpacked a
thin silk American flag he had been carrying with him all of his many years of
exploration and planted it on top of his igloo. That shows he had grit because it
took him many years. In Onward it also states, When the clouds parted in the sky,
he was able to take a latitude sighting with his sextant that affirmed they were at 89
57 . That shows he was smart because he knew how to read a
43. Oprah Winfrey Child Development Summary
Oprah Winfrey was born in Kosciusko, Mississippi. He parents were UN married
and separated after conception. Oprah had a difficult childhood, battling through
poverty and sexual abuse at an early age.
The life stages that I will be discussing:
Early childhood (3 8years)
Adolescence (9 18 years)
Early adulthood (19 45 years)
Early childhood (3 8 years):
In this life stage an average child will start developing writing skills, throwing and
skipping also permanent teeth will begin to grow. Also children will become stronger
and taller and baby fat will be lost. Intellectual:
Language development (communication skills)
Concentration span is much longer.
They will develop something called egocentrism where they thinks the world only
reviles around them.
Also they will learn the expectations of society.
Emotional development; a child will develop a stung emotional attachment to
carers/parents also to their toys i.e. a teddy bear. A child has basic emotions for
example happy or sad and will start developing an understanding of others. Children
will form relationships with other children and will developed skills such a sharing.
A child will see differences in types of relationships between family and those in a
formal setting.
Physical development:
Oprah would ve developed as an average child for example being able to ride a bike.
Intellectual:
Under the strong influence of her grandmother Oprah developed the skills to read
and write at the age of three; Oprah was also able to recite poems and verses to her
local church.
Emotional development:
Oprah and her mother kept moving around when she was young. After living with
her grandmother for a couple of year this would ve been emotionally harrowing to be
taken away from a strong role model.
Social development:
Moving from place to place as a child Winfrey wouldn t be able to develop strong
friendship groups. This is important as Winfrey needed to learn how to share and
cooperate with other.
Other factors:
Economic factor: as Winfrey s mother was poor they wouldn t have been able to
buy the correct food to help Oprah develop. Also not having a lot of money meant it
was a struggle to send Oprah to school.
Culture and religion: due to her
44. My Academic And Professional Statement In Electrical...
STATEMENT OF PURPOSE
This essay enlightens my academic and professional accomplishments. It also sheds
light on my career objectives and the motivation to pursue the postgraduate program
in Electrical Engineering at the Edith Cowan University, Perth.
I did my O Levels in 2008 from Shahwallayat Public School, Karachi. It is one of
the renowned schools in Pakistan. Besides its excellent education, it also believes
in providing physical education to students which is the essence of the school and
has produced a number of international players who earned a good name for the
country. I was quite an energetic student in school and I used to participate in almost
all types of healthy sports activities. I participated in many of our school
extracurricular activities and sports events like Cricket tournament, basketball,
Science Olympiad, Role play. All this helped me a lot in building up a strong
positive personality and to learn valuable social skills.
Mathematics, Physics and Computers were my favorite subjects from the beginning
and thus I was prone to get enrolled in a Pre Engineering College for my higher
secondary schooling. I completed my higher secondary schooling in 2010 from

45. Women In Combat Roles
I read your article Maintain the combat exclusion for Women in the military,
published at the New York Times online, and I have to say that I disagree with your
belief that women should continue to be excluded from combat roles in the military.
Throughout your article you made a couple good points, however, the majority of
what you had to say was based off of a ridiculous and outdated societal view
regarding women in general, not just women in combat. Over the course of centuries
the role of women in society has drastically changed and evolved, now more than
ever, women are heads of households, companies, and organizations. Why then should
a women s role in the militarybe any different? I implore you to reconsider your
stance regarding women in combat based off of the following information.... Show

Maj. Lisa Jaster, Capt. Kristen Griest and 1st Lt. Shaye Haver (Martinez, 2015) have
all graduated from the elite Army Ranger School. Thanks to these women and their
efforts, Army Secretary John McHugh announced in December of 2015 that all
soldiers, regardless of gender are now welcome to participate in Army Ranger
School. In addition to this, Defense Secretary Ashton Carter made the decision to
open all combat related jobs in the military to any woman interested in and
physically conditioned to pursue them (Donahue, 2015). The purpose of the Army
Ranger course, just as any other combat related course is to teach soldiers how to
overcome stress, fatigue, and hunger in combat (Martinez, 2015), so that they are
able to perform at their best in extreme situations. The fact that there are women who
have overcome these obstacles to prove their ability to serve in combat should lend
itself as an inspiration and a
