The Most Common Problems in Project Management as...
Chapter 1
Introduction
Project Management is not something new in today s world as it has been practiced since the early
civilization by early architects and engineers such as Vitruvius, a Roman writer, architect and
engineer, Christopher Wren, Thomas Telford and Isambard Kingdom Brunel. Though it has been
used before, organizations started to apply systematically the project management tools and
techniques to complex project in the 1950s.
No matter what the size of the organization is, there is always a need to have project management
that is involved in new endeavors such as the development of a new product or service;
establishment of a new production line; a public relations promotional campaign or even a major
building program. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
All these fields deal with various problems that vary in severity according to different managers and
according the situations that they are dealing with.
In the book of Lawson (2009) he gave a detailed information about the steps to take for a
successful project management. He has four major steps in his book such as: 1. Evaluation of
options for change 2. Putting together an effective project team 3. Planning a logical course of
work 4. Keeping projects on time and to budget
According to Clear (2011) in his article entitled 7 Common Project Management Problems (and
How to Solve them) undesirable outcome in a project management can be avoided by designers
and developers by getting familiar with these 7 project management problems. 1. Vague and ever
changing client requirements. The client s requirement can be a big problem and therefore, it is
very important to provide a clear path laid out from start to finish so client can have specificity in
his/her requirements and keeping the project on track as well. 2. Slow client s communication.
Slow communication has been another big reason why projects are being delayed. With this
situation, project managers should have the initiative to do a little bit of work ahead of time.
Instead of waiting for the response of the client, start doing the work which is according to the
direction that you think is

Worlds Collide in A Midsummer Night’s Dream
A Midsummer Night s Dream: Worlds Collide
Four worlds collide in a magical woods one night in midsummer in William Shakespeare s
mystical comedy A Midsummer Night s Dream. The mythological duke of Athens, on the eve of
his wedding to the newly defeated Queen of the Amazons, is called upon by the mortal Egeus to
settle a quarrel. Hermia, Egeus s vociferous daughter, refuses to marry the man her father has
betrothed to her, the enamored Demetrius. Theseus sides with authoritarian Egeus and forces
Hermia to marry Demetrius or face death. Defiantly, Hermia and her love, Lysander, resolve to
elope and abscond into the woods, confessing their plan only to Hermia s covetous ... Show more

Shakespeare s unique talent for creating poetry is effective in both establishing character and
demonstrating the theme. The characters of the play all speak in poetic form with the exception
of the English rustics who speak in prose. This helps to place the fairies and lovers on a higher,
more transcendental plane than the artisans. Therefore, the artisans become more comical and
lighten up the confusing comedy of love. The poetry of Shakespeare s genius also clarifies the
play s theme of the extreme confusion and blinding powers of love. The rhythmic words help to
create a magical setting of love while the rhymes portray the confusion each character feels while
under the stupefying powers of love.
Some optimists have compared love to a blissful dream, but Shakespeare s clever intrigue shows
what a confusing nightmare love can be. As the audience ponders the revelry they have just seen as
the play comes to a close, Puck steps forth to conclude the confusion:
If we shadows have offended
Think but this, and all is mended
That you have but slumb red here
While these visions did appear
And this weak and idle theme
No more yielding than a dream.
The audience is left in as much ambiguity as felt throughout the performance, appropriately ending
the play in a puzzling state of confusion.
The theme of night activities dreams and sleep runs throughout the play. The majority of the plot
takes place at night, even the rehearsal for the farcical play. All the

Significance Of The Universe In Jerry s Healer, By John...
The poster that was placed in Jerry s locker states Do I dare disturb the universe? The word
universe could have many definitions, but first what it could mean to Jerry, can be different
than what it means to The Vigils, Brother Leon, and Jerry s father. After Jerry s mother passes
away his father s and his own universe just changes. While Jerry doesn t notice it himself, he
stops doing what is expected of him. And by that he starts disturbing The Vigils, and schools
universe. During the first few chapters of the book Jerry has a good behavior. He gets accepted
in the football team and was doing well in his classes trying to be a good student. But what Jerry
was dealing with was his mother s death. Even his relationship with his father was not going so
well. He would try to talk to his father; try to open up to his father. But it was like both of them
had closed up and were not expressing how they really feel about things. The Vigils assign Jerry
to not sell chocolate for 10 days. The reason why Jerry continues to not sell Chocolate even after
his assignment is done is... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
If the balance of both the Vigils and the school rules is kept, then things in Trinity continue on as
normal. The universe of Trinity is upset by Jerry s actions of not selling the chocolates. Because
of his actions the power of The Vigils and Brother Leon is troubled. They cannot get him to do
what is expected of him, no matter how he is punished and threatened. Because of Jerry s actions
the Vigils power is lessened which causes them to do things that they would not usually do such as
following Brother Leon s orders, and also planning a fight against Jerry with permission of Brother
Leon. They are basically controlled and disturbed by Jerry. This disturbance does not only upset the
Vigils but could upset his own

Violence And The Problem Of Sexual And Domestic Violence
Domestic Violence is an issue that keeps increasing. The abusers usually have issues such as,
drinking, major aggression problems, and some may even have a mental illness. In domestic
violence there are many different types of abuse that a person can go through. Domestic Violence is
the most common but there is also Sexual and Mental Violence. There are many problems that lead
up to domestic violencebut also thereВґs many solutions.
A major problem of domestic violence is the abuser is gaining control over someone and their
life. ВЁDomestic violence and abuse are used for one purpose and one purpose only: to gain and
maintain total control over you. An abuser doesn t play fair. (domestic violence)ВЁ. The abuser
(man or woman) uses fear, shame, guilt, and will use the people you love against someone. The
abuser also threatens them and hurts them and people around them that they could run to for
help. The abuser uses their fear of them, makes them feel like they re worthless, makes all the
money and isolates them from family and friends unless they are there to keep them from telling
family or friends about what s going on or leaving them.
Many abusers have a drinking problem, and this is also another big leading cause to abuse.
Research shows that drinking and alcohol abuse lead to physical aggression. People who tend to
already have a problem with anger and drink get so much worse and get out of control. ВЁAlcohol
use has been reported in between 25 percent and 85 percent

Mental Health Couseling Programs
Mental health counseling programs are designed to prepare individuals/students to help clients
with conflicts, personal problems, or emotional predicaments. Mental Health counseling has
become a wide area of study that is highly recommended to those who are unbalanced and in need
of support. Effective clinical mental health counselors acknowledge the differences amongst
people and seek to improve their ability to work with diverse people (Gladding el at., 2010). This
is very important, especially for counselors to be culturally diverse and to develop multicultural
counseling competencies to be effective. The License Professional Counselor role is to provide an
environment of self examination by assisting clients with therapy and therapeutic alliance to
support the process of healing. They analyze problems from different angles to provide solutions,
by using method to set the stage for change. They must provide a non judgmental environment so
that the client feel respected, and of value to openly discuss life events, behaviors, feeling, and
thoughts. The Professional Counselor s role is to create this climate for the clients to examine their
emotions to arrive at solutions that is best for the clients. The professional s assignment is to assist
the individuals in finding solutions that are most corresponding with their own values, not to
persuade the clients by imposing their values on the client. According to Gladding and Newsome

The Real Independent Voter
The Real Independent Voter A notion exists that the independent voter is also an independent
thinker, researcher, and analyst a voter not swayed by media and partisan politics; however, I
propose that while voters may be successfully categorized, neither independent nor partisan voters
are better informed than the other, this must be attributed individually and not categorically.
Independent is defined by the Oxford Dictionary as not subject to authority or control; not
depending on another...for one s opinion; not belonging to or supported by a party (Independent,
2002, p. 417). The problem with labelling a voter (or group of voters) with this term is that the
label is most often a self designation that sometimes has little to do with that word actually implies.
Political analyst, Nate Silver, defines Independent voters in this manner:
1)People who are mainline Democrats or Republicans for all intents and purposes, but who reject
the formality of being labeled as such;
2)People who have a mix of conservative and liberal views that don t fit neatly onto the one
dimensional political spectrum, such as libertarians;
3)People to the extreme left or the extreme right of the political spectrum, who consider the
Democratic and Republican parties to be equally contemptible;
4)People who are extremely disengaged from politics and who may not have fully formed political
views;
5)True blue moderates;
6)Members of organized third parties.
These voters have almost

Treaty Of Versailles Unfair
World War 1 ended when Germany officially surrendered on November 11, 1918. All nations
agreed to stop fighting but the war was not formally over. The peace treaties of 1919 1923
focused mostly on officially ending World War 1. In this essay, we will focus on the treaty of
Versailles.
The peace treaties of 1919 1923 were unfair, especially the treaty of Versailles. This happened
because it angered the Germans. The following reasons why it angered the Germans is that it felt
unfair. They hated clause 231, which blamed them for full responsibility of the war, even though
the allies also caused the war. Austria Hungary declared war on Serbia, and Serbia was allies with
France and Russia. Germany lost one tenth of their land, which was important

Bruno Bettelheim s `` Punishment Versus Discipline ``
Bruno Bettelheim is one of the most influential child psychologists who lived in the 20th century.
Bettelheim s writings and theories cement his reputation as one of the most influential
psychologists by teaching parents the proper way of raising their child. His ideas and writings also
establish his prestige by revolutionizing the way in which psychologists treat children with mental
health issues. He changes the way in which mentally ill children are treated by promoting milieu
therapy as an alternative method of healing these children. His ideas are relevant today because
they assist school and educational institution in dealing with the problem of bullying. His works
allow psychologists and educators to understand the bully s actions and the victim s responses, thus
assisting them in solving the problem of bullying. This essay summarizes and provides a deep
analysis of Bettelheim s works and ideas with the aim to explore how his ideas help schools to deal
with the problem of bullying. Bettelheim s article Punishment Versus Discipline analyzes the toll
that punishment has on children. Bettelheim explains to the parents that through violence they
inspire their children to use their power to intimidate others by imitating the behaviors that were
inflicted on them previously. He also tells the parents that using physical punishment does not deter
their children from committing the action and that it can encourage them to become devious or
untrustworthy (NP). This

GPSIntroduction : GPS on bike has a market in India
The worldwide market for global positioning system (GPS) navigation and locationbased services
has been growing exponentially and is expected to rise to 13.4 billion Rupees in 2014, with a high
compound annual growth rate. Although still at a nascent stage in India, the GPS navigation market
holds tremendous potential for growth, driven by its increasing acceptance among the younger
generation as well as the exponential growth in popularity in car as well as in bike.
However, unlike developed countries where navigation was established by portable navigation
devices (PNDs), followed by vehicles and then smartphones , India is witnessing a reverse trend,
says Rajat Tandon, director... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The fourth stage of market evolution, decline, is still some distance away from the Indian market.
In this phase vendors should expect that the product itselfwill become invisible, market reach will
be critical, all will need to look at new markets within existing segments. From a consumer
perspective it will become a commodity product, people with new toy syndrome would change
devices periodically and price would be the only factor when taking decisions. The net result would
be similar to what the mobile phone market is undergoing and volumes would be huge.
Companies Like bajaj, Tvs, Yamaha. need to watch for the above phases and evolve their
business plans such that they emerge as leaders. The challenges are many; the customs duties on
import of GPS devices are very high. There is enough market for all players and it is important
to encourage competition as an engine of growth. Overall, I can safely sum up that while the
past has been exciting and we have lived in interesting times , the future is going to be all the
more interesting and exciting than anyone has ever imagined. Several new markets will be
created and leaders will be made of existing companies or born out of new ones in this space. Let us
look forward to a huge growth in the coming years so that we can sit back and smile when it
actually does come our way.

Essay On How A Bill Becomes A Law
How a Bill Becomes a Law Creating laws is the U.S. House of Representatives most important
job. All laws in the United States begin as bills. Before a bill can become a law, it must be
approved by the U.S. House of Representatives, the U.S. Senate, and the President. The road a
bill takes to becoming a law is a long and tedious process. First, the proposed bill goes through
the House of Representatives. Laws begin as ideas. These ideas may come from a Representative,
or from a citizen. Citizens who have ideas for laws can contact their Representatives to discuss
their ideas. If the Representatives agree, they research the ideas and write them into bills. When a

For instance, my cousin joined the sheriff s department after his service in the army. He has told

No doubt, due to the issues back then caused us to call them racist and threatening them because of

the officers will do their best not to shoot them because it is not their attention to do so. They do

Importance Of Personal Goals In Life
Since I was young, I knew exactly what I wanted to do in life, to be successful and happy. My
whole life, I have been surrounded by prosperous family members and family friends. Growing
up around these people, I came to acknowledge that they had a sense of stability and happiness
about them because they got to get up every morning and go to a job they love. However, what I
admired most is their success did not come easy, they worked hard to become the respected
people they are today. This assisted me in adapting three strong core values: personal growth,
entrepreneurship, and respect. Although I grew up with a successful family, I learned that
success does not come easy. Nowadays, people are led to believe they do not have to exert any
effort to become successful, and they could just lean on their family s prosperity. My family was
raised in the middle to upper class, but they were all parented to know they had to earn it
themselves and that they had to work for what they want; they couldn t turn to their family for
assistance. Therefore, I was also raised with this view. This developed my value of personal growth.
One of my goals in life is to earn my Doctor of Veterinary Medicineand my Master of Business
Administration. I strive to achieve these, knowing that the process will be challenging. After
graduating veterinary school with my Doctor of Veterinary Medicine, I plan to become a vet. After
approximately 10 years, I plan to go to Business school and earn my Master

Continuous Improvement Program
Continuous Improvement program Organizational Culture A 1 Introduction The continuous
improvement program or continuous improvement process is an effort to facilitate coordination of
district planning and to streamline communication between state and local education agencies. This
process provides an avenue for districts to engage in an inclusive and comprehensive planning as
opposed to multiple disconnected processes. Continuous improvement is the prime competitive
strategy for industries that reached the market and technological maturity. Low rates of market
expansion or only replacement demand encourages these firms to restrict innovation to incremental

Greek God Hades Research Paper
Olympic god Hades was born son of Titans Cronus Rhea. Unlike his brother, Zeus who was
saved by his mother Rhea, He was swallowed by his father along with his Olympic brothers

ended up killing his father and freeing his brothers sisters. Three of them decided to split up the
world into sections; Zeusgot the Heavens, Poseidon had the seas, and Hadesgot the underworld.
Hades is the ruler of the underworld and his job is to allow souls to enter the world he made and

Compare and contrast the American musical theatre in the 1920s with that of the 1930s. How
did each reflect and absorb its era? What forms styles were dominant, what was the same, what
was different and why? Do we see elements from these decades in shows today? Use examples
from specific musicals. In the 1920 s, musical theater was roaring just like the economic
situation in the United States. Florenz Ziegfeld was at his peak, buying shows and catapulting
them to the forefront of pop culture. The most popular songs on the radio were songs that were
written and performed in broadway shows. The subway station had just opened in times square
and people came rushing to the theaters. Rag time was the popular genre at the time and Jazz
musicians were working on their own genre just blocks away. Prohibition caused the rise of the
speakeasy and as a result, people of different social classes were interacting. People were looking
for entertainment that matched the change in people s sensibilities. During this period, musicals
(which were labeled musical comedies at the time) were in the form of acceptable of guilty
pleasures the appeal of women and their sexuality, silly characters that made fools of themselves,
or the goofy country girl dancing through the chores of the day. Ziegfeld s Follies, Marx brother
shows, and Al Jolson playing his character in blackface are great examples of these shows that

Societies Destructive Behavior around †Normal’
Society places value on a person based either on who they are, what they believe, or how much
money they make. What happens when society places value on how normal a person is? Using
the texts of Merchant of Venice and Taming of the Shrew I will argue that in dealing with
difference, society often unintentionally annihilates it; but what remains in its wake is often far
more disturbing. Religion is one of the most dividing forces in a society. At the time of Merchant
of Venice Jews were seen as everything that was an external threat to England s national welfare.
They were known as the enemy within the English culture. The feudalist Christians viewed them
as dirty, obsessed with money, and willing to do anything, legal or illegal, to gain monetarily.
Christians projected an image of themselves as holding value in people, rather than profit. One of
the first places we see a divide between the two religions is in a conversation between Bassanio and
Shylockin which the differences in the values that Christians versus Jews hold are brought to light:
Oh, no, no, no, no: my meaning in saying he is a good man is to have you understand me that he is
sufficient. Yet his means are in supposition: he hath an argosy bound to Tripolis, another to the

other ventures he hath, squandered abroad. But ships are but boards, sailors but men: there be land

For example interest rates, the cost of raw materials including fuel, the number of sales or orders
that we make and in turn all of these rely on other factors. The best therefore that can be done
when developing a budget is to look at all the factors that are likely to affect the budget and
decide how to take account of each one. If there is a previous budget (last year or last month)
then it is sensible to look at how this has been achieved or not as the case may be, and what
factors affected the outcome. If we are looking at monthly budgets it might be a better comparison
to look at the same month twelve months ago as well as the previous months. The more factors
we take into consideration when estimating a budget, the more accurate our budget will be. If the
estimations in a budgeting process are poor, the organisation and the customers may suffer. 3.
Explain two methods that can be used in order to identify realistic estimations when developing a

The Natures Of The Language And The Nature Of Language
Cambridge Dictionary states that language is a system of communication consisting of sounds,
words, and grammar, or the system of communication used by people in a particular country or type
of work . With particular definition, we can clearly observe that the system of language is made up
from the existence of words that brings something meaningful regardless the context, and the
construction of the sentences based on the collected words following the systematic grammatical
rules which eventually will be conveyed through the pronunciation of each words by the system of
sounds. Thus, firstly, we can conclude that the nature of language is, it has a specific system. If we

Intrinsic Value And Extrinsic Value Essay
In philosophy, things, properties, and acts contain values. They would fall into three categories of
value: intrinsic value, extrinsic value, and both intrinsic and extrinsic value. Things containing
intrinsic value means people value those things with intrinsic value for its own reason
(Zimmerman). In contrast, things containing extrinsic valuemeans the valueof these things are
depending on other things but not by itself. This is the basic difference between intrinsic valueand
extrinsic value. In addition, knowledge is extrinsic valuable in general, but some kinds of
knowledge can also be intrinsic valuable. Also, Knowledge is more extrinsic valuable than a true
belief because it provides a higher possibility for an agent to succeed in pursuing his/her goals
(Pritchard 13).
Intrinsic Value (Non Instrumental Value)
Intrinsic value has also been named as non instrumental value. The general understanding of non
instrumental value is that a thing is valuable for its own sake and its value is not related to other
things. Zimmerman explains the intrinsic value by using the example of the conversation with
someone. He says that suppose person A asks person B that whether helping people is good or
not; B will answer that helping others is good. Then, A keeps asking that why it is good; B might
response that it is just good by fulfilling others needs. After that, A can still ask B that why
fulfilling others needs is good. If B keep answering these questions by adding other

Effects Of Overfishing
Introduction
The main causes of overfishing are poor fishery management with a lack of regulation, unrestricted
access to the ocean and illegal fishing. During the last few decades the demand for edible seafood
globally has skyrocketed and the high demand is causing us to overfish to keep up with the demand.
Unfortunately, fisherman are catching more fish than can be naturally reproduced. There are only
limited regulations in place, which means that fishing companies are basically fishing when and
where they want to with out any oversite. Overfishing causes such serious effects such as the ocean
life getting knocked out of balance. Coastal communities rely on the benefits of the fishing for
social and economic health. When we overfish it ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Oceaneos Research Foundation stated that in the mid 1990 the Atlantic cod was caught to near
extinction. Newfoundland s fishing industry collapsed due to overfishing and 40,000 jobs were
lost and the ecosystem destroyed. Fifteen years after the loss of the cod industry they are still
waiting for a recovery. ( The Oceaneos Marine Research Foundation , 2017)
Another global effect of overfishing is fish farming or aquaculture. It was first started to help
preserve the ocean and hoped to help people to obtain a reliable fish source. Unfortunately, what
many came to realize is the downside of fish farming. One example is water contamination,
where consequently waste products such as foods eaten, feces and other dead fish, are all
dumped into our main water supply which contributes to water pollution. Moreover, chemicals
that are used to treat the fish farms like antibiotics and algaecides are all released into the ocean;
which is a real cause for concern for our oceans. Fish that come from the fish farms are pumped
full of drugs, to prevent sickness in the fish but this is not healthy for us to eat. There is also a great
environmental impact which includes the fact that to sustain fish farms, portions of

In short, the Presidential Campaign is long and tough an often in the beginning you may have up

How Career Is A Successful Internship
How to Accomplish a Successful Internship
For a college student, internship experience not only broadens one s horizons, but it also enriches
one s resume. For me, an internship is a good way to apply what I ve learned at school to
professional experience. While we students are seeking internship opportunities to qualify ourselves
for good job positions, figuring out what we have obtained from internship experience and
preparing for future internships or jobs is even more important.
The book They Don t Teach Corporate in College gives me instructions of how to follow a
successful career path. While combining my personal internship experience with what I learned
from the book, I have a better understanding of how to prepare, pursue and finally accomplish a
successful internship. To begin with, you need to know about yourself. Figuring out your strengths
and weaknesses can help you find suitable fields and relevant jobs quickly and accurately. I once
worked as an assistant for a financial accountant in the Trade and Finance Department at Bank of
China. One of the reasons I got the internship was because the department desired interns who had
good English writing skills. While I am an international student studying in America, the manager
thought I had the skills. Therefore, knowing about your skills and making the best use of them on
your resumes can lead to internship opportunities.

Realism In Phantom Of The Opera
Theatrical realism and psycological realism emerged as a reaction against the popular
entertainment of Melodrama, Music Halls and vaudeville. Melodrama The techniques of
melodrama, meaning music drama , began to develop at the start of the 18th century where
spoken dialogue was combined with short musical accompaniment, resulting in a happy ending
for the hero and heroine. These plays were thematically inspired by Manichaeism, a
philosophical idea taken from 3rd century prophet Mani, depicting a simplified moral universe
(Trumbull, 2004, para. 2) where the forces of good and evil were embodied by the characters. In
Melodrama, antagonists were irredeemably evil while protagonists were faultlessly good, there
was no nuance. Actors played two dimensional caricatures, with specific gestures and ways of
moving to indicate exactly how the character was feeling. For example, Special effects such as
explosions, fires and earthquakes were also common. Early horror films encapsulate the style
perfectly, and they were so popular that there is an abundance of evidence surviving to this day.
The Phantom of the Opera (1925) was directed Rupert Julian and took inspiration from the same
novel as Andrew Lloyd Webber s hit musical of the same name. Fifty minutes into the film,
Christine reveals the Phantom s true face in a sequence of wide open eyes/mouth, stumbling

Advantages Of Sacrificial Anode
Engineering Chemistry (CHY1001)
Digital Assignment 1
Ans1. a) Sacrificial anodic protection:
Sacrificial anodes are exceptionally active metals used to prevent less active metal surfaces from
eroding. They are constructed from a metal alloy having a higher negative electrode potential
than the metal surface it will be used to safeguard. The sacrificial anode will get depleted in place
of the metal it is protecting. This is why it is referred to as sacrificial anode.
The materials used for making a sacrificial anode are either comparatively pure active metals such
as Zinc and Magnesium, or alloys of Magnesium or Aluminium precisely developed to be used as a
sacrificial anode.
They are used to protect water heaters, pipelines, underground tanks, hulls of ships, etc. (Sacrificial

Due Sunday Day 7 XECO/212
Instructor Robert Peart
Student Emily Hopple
I have had the personal experience of purchasing my college education. Picking a college was very
challenging and I had huge amounts of pros and cons to weigh throughout my decision process. I
knew that going to college and receiving a college education would be a wise investment and would
better benefit me in the future financially. The supply and demand for a college education has
changed over the years, thirty years ago a person might not have gone to college or paid for a
college education and degree but that person still had a good chance of finding a steady job and
becoming successful. An example of this would be my ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The financial status that a person carries can often determine the supply and demand of
receiving a college education due to the fact that if a person obtains a college education they
would be able to make and earn more money. Making more money is a plus but another factor to
think about is school loans which will put a person in debt until the loans are paid off, so it is
important for people to weigh their pros and cons when it comes to going to college. Now with
the growing technology and job demands receiving a college education has increased in
demand. People want to be successful in their careers and want a bigger income so a college
education is the wisest way to become successful. The supply for college is always elevated and
increases each year because more and more people realize that receiving a college education is
valuable and beneficial. Two substitutes for a college education would be self educating which
is where a person can get books, do research, and learn along with teaching themselves on a
particular topic, business field, certain materials and information. Self educating is what some
people might prefer if they do not have the drive or determination, along with finances to be able
to go to college and earn a college degree. Another substitute would be if a person would ask their
job to sponsor or pay for classes, training, or even college courses to be able to have the
opportunity to move up in the business and become more successful.

How Did King George III Influence His Government
King George III A lot of people know about King George III. Some people haven t even heard his
name before; however he made a big impact and he should be well known. King George III s
father was strong headed man when it came to the government. His father grew up thinking he
need to restore the constitutional power of the monarchy. When George III had a say in the
government, his father was against him. They hated each other and never had a close
relationship. Being the eldest of his family George III was different than his father by far. We
know a little about his background and where he stood in government growing up, but we don t
know anything about what King George III did when he was in his reign as King. Let s take a
deeper look.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
That is what most people know him for (Pavao). During the Revolutionary War the king placed a
stamp act on any shipments of tea, ink, and more. The colonists were furious, they were
planning an attack. The King was expecting this to happen, he sent guards over to the colonies to
watch for any plot making or attacks getting ready to happen. The colonists dressed up as
Indians and attacked a shipment of tea that was under the stamp act. They dumped all the tea
into the harbor. It was called the Boston Tea Party. It made King George furious. Not only was
there fighting between guards and the colonists. The colonists split into two groups, the loyalists
who were loyal to the king. The patriots were against the king, and wanted to be individual. The
American Revolution presented George III with a crisis that seemed to destroy all he had
worked to achieve (Reitan). King George was so stressed with so much happening at one time. It
made him go mad with illness. George III s long struggle to maintain the independent role of the
monarch was frustrated by the growth of cabinet government and the increasing power of
Parliament. George III could not stop the evolution of the British constitution (Reitan). He went
crazy and was sick. In 1809 the king became blind. As early as 1765 he had suffered an apparent
dementia (Funk Wagnall s New World Encyclopedia). He lost

The Wife Of Bath Prologue And John Webster s The Duchess...
Stephanie Polkowski
Dr. Finnlayson
ENGL 311
11/24/14
Entertainment and education through the oppression of women finds a common place in Geoffrey
Chaucer s The Wife of Bath Prologue and John Webster s The Duchess of Malfi. In both stories the
audience is introduced to the idea of female independence and strength through a confident and
skilled female character who envelops the knowledge required to subvert the standards of
patriarchal and misogynistic society. While both women in the The Wifeof Bath Prologue and The
Duchess of Malfi are varied characters who (think they) exude authority and seem to be able to live
outside the limitations of a patriarchal society, at a closer look it is obvious this is not the case.
Chaucer and Webster have both developed a story that parallel the stereotypes of the misogynist
political and social structure of the time. Furthermore, they have blended comedy and entertainment
to create stories that are didactic in nature they reaffirm the stereotype of unruly widows and
ultimately show that no good will come to women who attempt to live outside the structural
confines of the patriarchal and misogynist structures of society.
Geoffrey Chaucer s The Wife of Bath Prologue is a text which employs the female voice through
an exaggerated female narrator who believes her life experience provides her the authority
necessary to weigh in on the conflict that is marriage and a woman s role within that marriage. Upon
further analysis one may argue that

The Pathos Of Failure By Thomas Elsaesser
The Pathos of Failure, is Thomas Elsaesser s diagnosis of an ideological trend that occurred in
mainstream Hollywood in the 1960s 1970s. During this time, the American film industry saw an
unprecedented, revolutionary detour in stylistic experimentation, and thematically, a focus on the
somewhat sentimental gestures of defeat, (Eleasser 234). This shift represented a departure from
Classical Hollywood s idealized vision of America, the films of which reproduced aspects of
dominant American ideology subject to increasing contempt among audiences. Interesting
parallels can be drawn between The Graduate (1967) and The Parallax View (1974) in relation to
Elseasser s analysis. The Pathos of Failure is felt acutely in both films, not only thematically, but
also in the craft of the films themselves: non linear, episodic, unresolved narratives and complex,
counter cultural, marginal male protagonists, whose goals are ill defined and ultimately unattained
(Hehr 85). Perhaps the allure of these films was that they required a degree of critical engagement
from the audience, reflected by wider society s growing cynicism towards American institutions
and their basic pillars, (Hehr 31). There is a certain comfort, I will argue, in honestly
acknowledging both internal conflicts and greater societal defects through the medium of cinema.
Where the Classical Hollywood film would typically offer a solution to the problems established,
the Hollywood Renaissance film, via irresolution

Christian Mission Book Review Essay
Christian Mission Book Review Part two begins with David Livingstone, a Scottish missionary,
and a professional doctor. He was very interested in exploration and his main goal was to stop
Portuguese and Arab slave trade, he believed in human self worth. He got his men and his
supplies and started his voyage to Africa to map Africa, he was successful at mapping most of
Zambezi. Livingstone was accused of not being a real missionaryand he was too political but he
always made sure he was working with God in mind. Livingstone died at the age of 60 in 1873
defending the African s freedom. His people cut out his heart and buried it, the rest of his body
was mummified and taken to Westminster Abbey to be buried, as he wished. A statue was built in
his honor with the base reading, Missionary, Explorer, Liberator . Livingstone is one example of
how much political and economic power a Christian missionary can have. He also encouraged the
work of the Jesuits in China. The western power and missionaries have created bad names for the
social/cultural changes or for being connected with colonialism, imperialism, westernity, and
modernity mostly by the missionaries. Some say that Christianityhas challenged or strengthened
the local power. Scientific racism first came up in the 1850s Joseph Arthur de Gobineu s book
called Essi sur l inegalite des races humanines. He believed that the African and Asian people could
be a part of the Christian religionor culture because

Another Common Environmental Factor That Engineers Are
Another common environmental factor that engineers are concerned with when they consider the
conditions of bridges is wind loads. These are especially a hazard to cable supported bridges
because the system relies on a delicate balance of pressure that holds up the bridge, which can be
easily disturbed under high winds. One example of this is the Tacoma bridgefailure in Washington
state in 1940. While examining the evidence, engineers found that when the wind hits the body of
the bridge, it creates forces that oscillated the bridge, which caused instability (Gianni and Gazzola).
Additionally, when these bridges were built, the environment they were in was drastically different
than it is today. Although engineers took population increase... Show more content on

Although this was the specific reason for the collapse, the broader problem was inadequacies in
state inspections and the federal government failing to audit the state`s work adequately.
Another reason why designs of bridges fail is because there is not cohesiveness in the theory behind
construction and actual construction. Sometimes construction is either too dependent on theory or
ignorant of it, either way the assumptions made during design and construction are dangerous. This
is shown in the case of the Williamsburg Bridge where:
The rationale justifying the use of non galvanized high strength cable wires on the Williamsburg
Bridge was summarized as follows: If the wires are maintained dry, they do not need zinc coating.
If not, it will not save them in the long term. This reasoning may appear sound, yet it lacks both
the practical knowledge of life cycle cable performance and a theoretical model of wire
deterioration. (Yanev 119)
This gap between theory and practice in directly related to a gap between engineers and
management. Currently, engineers are in control of the design and construction, but the process of
this operation is given to management whose primary concern is cutting production cost.
Consequently, necessary redundancies are lost during construction. Although this eliminates initial
cost, it increases future cost because

Conflict In The Looking Glass Wars
E.E. Cummings explained It takes courage to grow up and turn out to be who you really are.
Alyss when she was young loved her home in Wonderland but had to grow up in a whole other
world. She would always think her imagination would get the best of her but that fantasy never
left as she grew and became who she really was. In The Looking Glass Wars, Frank Beddor uses
conflict to transform Alyss from a mischievous, endearing, and naive girl to a fond of, praised, and
comfortable young woman so that she can defeat Redd and take back the Heart Queendom.
In the beginning of the novel, Princess Alyss is characterized as mischievous, endearing, and
naive. Alyss loves to play pranks such as dropping jollyjellies from an open window and
watching them splat on the guards below (Beddor 11). Instead of behaving like a proper
princess, she prefers getting into trouble with her best friend, Dodge. However, her pranks are
never mean spirited; Alyss just enjoys having fun. Although Alyss is mischievous, her father
finds Alyss to be a delightful creature (Beddor 19). Besides her parents, other adults who even
sometimes find themselves as Alyss s targets, such as Bibwit Harte, also, find Alyss to be
endearing. They appreciate her playfulness and are charmed by her. Since Alyss is so
accustomed to people loving her, she barely questions, Where did you come from? when a kitten
randomly appears as a birthday present for her (Beddor 41). Alyss is naГЇve and never suspects

One Day International Cricket Essay
When it comes to contemporary One Day International (ODI) cricket, Bangladesh and England are
undoubtedly the two most improved units in past couple of years. Since the 2015 World Cup, in
terms of win loss ratio, England have been the second best (1.615) after South Africa (2.090). In
the list Bangladesh too are sitting pretty with a ratio of 1.111, which is better than big boys like
India, Sri Lanka and Pakistan. Both England and Bangladesh have completely transformed their
games in this format. On the field, they have been aggressive, innovative and entertaining an ultra
modern flavour, which has helped them to attract a lot of eyeballs. Both teams have settled line ups
which include plenty of match winners in white ball cricket.... Show more content on

Unpredictable English conditions to dictate terms? For the past three four days, London is
experiencing some indifferent weather. Mostly the mornings have been cloudy and it had its
effect in recent matches. On Sunday, in a warm up fixture a strong New Zealand batting were
restricted to 189 by the Indian bowlers, with Mohammed Shami being the destroyer in chief.
Next day at Lords, we have seen England tottering at 20 for 6 their worst start in ODI history
against the South Africa new ball duo of Kagiso Rabada and Wayne Parnell. On the same day,
on the other side of Thames, at the Oval, Bangladesh were bowled out for just 84 against India,
with pacers taking nine out of their 10 wickets. The early morning cloud cover aids swing in this
part of the world and with similar weather is being predicted on Thursday, it can be an important
factor in the game. Especially the Bangladesh cricketers, who are not familiar with such conditions,
may have to be extra cautious. No complacency in English camp England may be playing their best

skipper Eoin Morgan warned the team to guard against any sort complacency before taking on an

addressed his unprofessional comment and stated she still depends on the health care staff to tend
to her personal hygiene needs.
Social Communication

In 1988, an Italian brand Buitoni became part of NestlГ© s portfolio. In the same year, there was a
boycott of a group of organization in United Kingdom against NestlГ©. Later, as a result of our

The United States Economy As The Global Economy
From 2010 until the end of 2014 oil prices remained relatively constant. With very little
fluctuation over these four years, the average price per barrel of oil was around 110 dollars.
That price has been more than cut in half within the past year. The price for United States crude
oil is now just 48 dollars a barrel, the lowest it has been since 2009 (BBC News). So what is the
cause for this sudden change and to what effect will this have on the United Stateseconomy as well
as the global economy? There are three core contributors that account for this sudden dip in oil
prices. These contributors are a low demand for oil in many countries, specifically Europe, that is
caused by a lack of economic growth, the increase in The United States oil production, and The
Organization of the PetroleumExporting Countries (OPEC) increase in oil production. With many
of Europe s economically struggling countries the increase in production of oil which in return
yields lower prices has benefitted them. Europe s weak economy is able to contribute to this
drop in oil prices in that Europe s currently low inflation rate and weak economy has greatly
lessened the demand for oil. The lack of demand for oil in one of the most prominent import
continents in the world has forced oil manufactures to lower their prices in order to retain Europe
as a top oil export. Large oil exporters do not want to lose Europe as an export because that would
also mean losing billions of dollars per year.

Investigating Flat Planes
Turns out there is a fairly straight forward way to prove conclusively that we do not live on a flat
plane. Simply pick a line of longitude (along which everyone will experience high noon at the
same time, doesn t have to be one perfect line of latitude but each person should measure at high
noon on the same day) and measure the length of the suns shadow at several points of latitude from
directly under the sun to as far North as you can (must have at least one measurement that is above
75В°).
Requirements For Experiment
All the sticks should, of course, be very close to exactly the same length (recommend 2 to 5
meters). I used 5 meters in my example, taller is better.
The sticks should be placed absolutely plumb (straight up and down). They cannot lean in any
direction.
The terrain upon which the shadow ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
You can try it out using the PlanetCalc Shadow Length calculator
And now all you have to do is personally verify that this calculator gives you fairly accurate results
for the shadow lengths (I have) and you can be certain that the plane of the Earth simply cannot be
flat.
ON A FLAT PLANE
Now let s compare the expected values above with those on a flat plane, which turns out to be
trivial mathematically we don t even need a calculator. We just need to calculate the following:
slope = (distance to sun / distance to stick) length of shadow = (height of stick / slope)
To get this formula we just have to think about two right triangles, using the slope of the first one to
figure out the length of the adjacent side of the second one (height/slope).
Our first right triangle is the one from a point directly under the sun at the top of our stick, over
to our next stick, say at 10В° latitude, which is 1109472m for every 10В°s latitude and then up to
the sun, finally back down to where we started. Let s assume the sun is ~4000 miles away or

Although there are no major changes to the operations of Indigo, it is evident that as a result of
having a negative net income indicates problems with the company operations. It becomes more
worrying as Indigo s revenue is declining as a result being unable to increase the amount of profit.
They are still unable to cut expenses down enough to maintain a positive net income.
Ratios The 8 ratios that are best used to evaluate indigo are current ratio, debt ratio, rate of return on
owner s equity, price earnings, inventory turnover, interest coverage ratio, dividend payout ratio,
and accounts receivables collection period.
Current Ratio Current ratio indicates a company s ability to pay off short term liabilities.
Starting at 2012, the current ratio of Indigo was 1.98, very close to the desired ratio of 2.
However since 2015, the current ratio has declined by 0.09 to 1.89. This shows the company is
not in as stable of a financial standpoint as 2012, due to a lower ability to pay off short term
liabilities. However, when compared to the industrial and sector averages, 1.78 and 1.77
respectively, Indigo actually comes out as above average. This suggests that despite, a lowered
ability to return short term liabilities, Indigo is still very capable at returning short term liabilities
as a result of the nature of the industry and

The Effects Of Mass Media On Society
Where do we get our information in society? How do we know what is true information from
false information? Mass media, including T.V, Radio stations, newspaper has taken over the
minds of people in society. According to Glen Smith and Kathleen Searles, Most assumption are
being based off of what they see and hear on the television, social networks and on the radio
because its mainly one side stories or one bashing of individuals. People do not take the time to go
in depth about the situation being inaccurately displayed at times. Sociologist is beginning to
realize the effect of mass mediahas on society especially the younger generation.
REVIEW OF LITERATURE
Patrick Daley explained from a sociology point of view that Ferrarotti s believe society has lost
the essence to communicate with each other face to face; our expressive world is no longer
there. Ferrarotti s argued, We are losing our ability to produce meaning, to the massive out
pouring of images from television. Television also annihilates history; Frerrarotti maintains, by
giving us an unremitting stream of disconnected and episodic event. This goes to show that media
definitely has control of our minds. They showcase what they want the people to see and have
judgment on. Even fashion or the way they portray women and men, has become a money making
business because of the way media has made it into a need and not a want. People now believe that
they have to be slim to be beautiful or have the latest designer

Hermia, Egeus s vociferous daughter, refuses to marry the man her father has betrothed to her, the enamored Demetrius. Shakespeare s unique talent for creating poetry is effective in both establishing character and demonstrating the theme. The characters of the play all speak in poetic form with the exception of the English rustics who speak in prose. This helps to place the fairies and lovers on a higher, more transcendental plane than the artisans. Therefore, the artisans become more comical and lighten up the confusing comedy of love. The poetry of Shakespeare s genius also clarifies the play s theme of the extreme confusion and blinding powers of love. The rhythmic words help to create a magical setting of love while the rhymes portray the confusion each character feels while under the stupefying powers of love. Some optimists have compared love to a blissful dream, but Shakespeare s clever intrigue shows what a confusing nightmare love can be. As the audience ponders the revelry they have just seen as the play comes to a close, Puck steps forth to conclude the confusion: If we shadows have offended Think but this, and all is mended That you have but slumb red here While these visions did appear And this weak and idle theme No more yielding than a dream. The audience is left in as much ambiguity as felt throughout the performance, appropriately ending the play in a puzzling state of confusion. The theme of night activities dreams and sleep runs throughout the play. The majority of the plot takes place at night, even the rehearsal for the farcical play. All the ... The Real Independent Voter The Real Independent Voter A notion exists that the independent voter is also an independent thinker, researcher, and analyst a voter not swayed by media and partisan politics; however, I propose that while voters may be successfully categorized, neither independent nor partisan voters are better informed than the other, this must be attributed individually and not categorically. Independent is defined by the Oxford Dictionary as not subject to authority or control; not depending on another...for one s opinion; not belonging to or supported by a party (Independent, 2002, p. 417). The problem with labelling a voter (or group of voters) with this term is that the label is most often a self designation that sometimes has little to do with that word actually implies. Political analyst, Nate Silver, defines Independent voters in this manner: 1)People who are mainline Democrats or Republicans for all intents and purposes, but who reject the formality of being labeled as such; 2)People who have a mix of conservative and liberal views that don t fit neatly onto the one dimensional political spectrum, such as libertarians; 3)People to the extreme left or the extreme right of the political spectrum, who consider the Democratic and Republican parties to be equally contemptible; 4)People who are extremely disengaged from politics and who may not have fully formed political views; 5)True blue moderates; 6)Members of organized third parties. Although still at a nascent stage in India, the GPS navigation market holds tremendous potential for growth, driven by its increasing acceptance among the younger generation as well as the exponential growth in popularity in car as well as in bike. The net result would be similar to what the mobile phone market is undergoing and volumes would be huge. Companies Like bajaj, Tvs, Yamaha. need to watch for the above phases and evolve their business plans such that they emerge as leaders. What happens when society places value on how normal a person is? Using the texts of Merchant of Venice and Taming of the Shrew I will argue that in dealing with difference, society often unintentionally annihilates it; but what remains in its wake is often far more disturbing. Religion is one of the most dividing forces in a society. At the time of Merchant of Venice Jews were seen as everything that was an external threat to England s national welfare. They were known as the enemy within the English culture. The feudalist Christians viewed them as dirty, obsessed with money, and willing to do anything, legal or illegal, to gain monetarily. Christians projected an image of themselves as holding value in people, rather than profit. One of the first places we see a divide between the two religions is in a conversation between Bassanio and Shylockin which the differences in the values that Christians versus Jews hold are brought to light: Oh, no, no, no, no: my meaning in saying he is a good man is to have you understand me that he is sufficient. Yet his means are in supposition: he hath an argosy bound to Tripolis, another to the Indies; I understand moreover, upon the Rialto, he hath a third at Mexico, a fourth for England, and other ventures he hath, squandered abroad. They would fall into three categories of value: intrinsic value, extrinsic value, and both intrinsic and extrinsic value. Things containing intrinsic value means people value those things with intrinsic value for its own reason (Zimmerman). In contrast, things containing extrinsic valuemeans the valueof these things are depending on other things but not by itself. This is the basic difference between intrinsic valueand extrinsic value. Presidential Campaign Ethics Case Study In short, the Presidential Campaign is long and tough an often in the beginning you may have up to seven opponents all trying to win their party nomination to run against the other party winner on a national level. Therefore, each of the candidates will hire a team to manage his or her campaign and each team goal is to convince the public that their candidate is the best choice and it s their job to help get their candidate message on the primary elections and then on to the national elections. In general, the political team will use different forms of mass communication such as; radio, television, and satellite TV are the most logical choice because it can reach millions of people and it can affect how they view their candidate opponents. How Career Is A Successful Internship How to Accomplish a Successful Internship For a college student, internship experience not only broadens one s horizons, but it also enriches one s resume. For me, an internship is a good way to apply what I ve learned at school to professional experience. While we students are seeking internship opportunities to qualify ourselves for good job positions, figuring out what we have obtained from internship experience and preparing for future internships or jobs is even more important. The book They Don t Teach Corporate in College gives me instructions of how to follow a successful career path. While combining my personal internship experience with what I learned from the book, I have a better understanding of how to prepare, pursue and finally accomplish a successful internship. To begin with, you need to know about yourself. Figuring out your strengths and weaknesses can help you find suitable fields and relevant jobs quickly and accurately. I once worked as an assistant for a financial accountant in the Trade and Finance Department at Bank of China. One of the reasons I got the internship was because the department desired interns who had good English writing skills. • 38. Realism In Phantom Of The Opera Theatrical realism and psycological realism emerged as a reaction against the popular entertainment of Melodrama, Music Halls and vaudeville. Melodrama The techniques of melodrama, meaning music drama , began to develop at the start of the 18th century where spoken dialogue was combined with short musical accompaniment, resulting in a happy ending for the hero and heroine. These plays were thematically inspired by Manichaeism, a philosophical idea taken from 3rd century prophet Mani, depicting a simplified moral universe (Trumbull, 2004, para. 2) where the forces of good and evil were embodied by the characters. In Melodrama, antagonists were irredeemably evil while protagonists were faultlessly good, there was no nuance. Actors played two dimensional caricatures, with specific gestures and ways of moving to indicate exactly how the character was feeling. For example, Special effects such as explosions, fires and earthquakes were also common. Early horror films encapsulate the style perfectly, and they were so popular that there is an abundance of evidence surviving to this day. The Phantom of the Opera (1925) was directed Rupert Julian and took inspiration from the same novel as Andrew Lloyd Webber s hit musical of the same name. Fifty minutes into the film, Christine reveals the Phantom s true face in a sequence of wide open eyes/mouth, stumbling backwards, clutching her chest and collapsing to the floor to signify her utter horror at the sight followed by pleading ... Advantages Of Sacrificial Anode Engineering Chemistry (CHY1001) Digital Assignment 1 Ans1. a) Sacrificial anodic protection: Sacrificial anodes are exceptionally active metals used to prevent less active metal surfaces from eroding. They are constructed from a metal alloy having a higher negative electrode potential than the metal surface it will be used to safeguard. The sacrificial anode will get depleted in place of the metal it is protecting. This is why it is referred to as sacrificial anode. The materials used for making a sacrificial anode are either comparatively pure active metals such as Zinc and Magnesium, or alloys of Magnesium or Aluminium precisely developed to be used as a sacrificial anode. They are used to protect water heaters, pipelines, underground tanks, hulls of ships, etc. (Sacrificial anode used for cathodic protection.) b) Corrosion inhibitors: A corrosion inhibitor is a chemical compound which when added to a gas or liquid, reduces the rate of corrosion of a material (which is mostly a metal or an ... At this location I expected to see a lot of trash and dirt that needed to be attended too and cleaned up which was our job. At this trail, about 10 students and myself walked the trail in the very cold weather picking up trash and cleaning up all the items that people left behind. Making more money is a plus but another factor to think about is school loans which will put a person in debt until the loans are paid off, so it is important for people to weigh their pros and cons when it comes to going to college. Now with the growing technology and job demands receiving a college education has increased in demand. • 44. The Wife Of Bath Prologue And John Webster s The Duchess... Stephanie Polkowski Dr. Finnlayson ENGL 311 11/24/14 Entertainment and education through the oppression of women finds a common place in Geoffrey Chaucer s The Wife of Bath Prologue and John Webster s The Duchess of Malfi. In both stories the audience is introduced to the idea of female independence and strength through a confident and skilled female character who envelops the knowledge required to subvert the standards of patriarchal and misogynistic society. While both women in the The Wifeof Bath Prologue and The Duchess of Malfi are varied characters who (think they) exude authority and seem to be able to live outside the limitations of a patriarchal society, at a closer look it is obvious this is not the case. Chaucer and Webster have both developed a story that parallel the stereotypes of the misogynist political and social structure of the time. Furthermore, they have blended comedy and entertainment to create stories that are didactic in nature they reaffirm the stereotype of unruly widows and ultimately show that no good will come to women who attempt to live outside the structural confines of the patriarchal and misogynist structures of society. Geoffrey Chaucer s The Wife of Bath Prologue is a text which employs the female voice through an exaggerated female narrator who believes her life experience provides her the authority necessary to weigh in on the conflict that is marriage and a woman s role within that marriage. • 45. The Pathos Of Failure By Thomas Elsaesser The Pathos of Failure, is Thomas Elsaesser s diagnosis of an ideological trend that occurred in mainstream Hollywood in the 1960s 1970s. During this time, the American film industry saw an unprecedented, revolutionary detour in stylistic experimentation, and thematically, a focus on the somewhat sentimental gestures of defeat, (Eleasser 234). This shift represented a departure from Classical Hollywood s idealized vision of America, the films of which reproduced aspects of dominant American ideology subject to increasing contempt among audiences. Interesting parallels can be drawn between The Graduate (1967) and The Parallax View (1974) in relation to Elseasser s analysis. The Pathos of Failure is felt acutely in both films, not only thematically, but also in the craft of the films themselves: non linear, episodic, unresolved narratives and complex, counter cultural, marginal male protagonists, whose goals are ill defined and ultimately unattained (Hehr 85). Perhaps the allure of these films was that they required a degree of critical engagement from the audience, reflected by wider society s growing cynicism towards American institutions and their basic pillars, (Hehr 31). There is a certain comfort, I will argue, in honestly acknowledging both internal conflicts and greater societal defects through the medium of cinema. • 47. Another Common Environmental Factor That Engineers Are Another common environmental factor that engineers are concerned with when they consider the conditions of bridges is wind loads. These are especially a hazard to cable supported bridges because the system relies on a delicate balance of pressure that holds up the bridge, which can be easily disturbed under high winds. One example of this is the Tacoma bridgefailure in Washington state in 1940. While examining the evidence, engineers found that when the wind hits the body of the bridge, it creates forces that oscillated the bridge, which caused instability (Gianni and Gazzola). Additionally, when these bridges were built, the environment they were in was drastically different than it is today. Although engineers took population increase... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Although this was the specific reason for the collapse, the broader problem was inadequacies in state inspections and the federal government failing to audit the state`s work adequately. Another reason why designs of bridges fail is because there is not cohesiveness in the theory behind construction and actual construction. Sometimes construction is either too dependent on theory or ignorant of it, either way the assumptions made during design and construction are dangerous. This is shown in the case of the Williamsburg Bridge where: The rationale justifying the use of non galvanized high strength cable wires on the Williamsburg Bridge was summarized as follows: If the wires are maintained dry, they do not need zinc coating. If not, it will not save them in the long term. This reasoning may appear sound, yet it lacks both the practical knowledge of life cycle cable performance and a theoretical model of wire deterioration. (Yanev 119) This gap between theory and practice in directly related to a gap between engineers and management. Currently, engineers are in control of the design and construction, but the process of this operation is given to management whose primary concern is cutting production cost. Consequently, necessary redundancies are lost during construction. Although this eliminates initial cost, it increases future cost because ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 52. The United States Economy As The Global Economy From 2010 until the end of 2014 oil prices remained relatively constant. With very little fluctuation over these four years, the average price per barrel of oil was around 110 dollars. That price has been more than cut in half within the past year. The price for United States crude oil is now just 48 dollars a barrel, the lowest it has been since 2009 (BBC News). So what is the cause for this sudden change and to what effect will this have on the United Stateseconomy as well as the global economy? There are three core contributors that account for this sudden dip in oil prices. These contributors are a low demand for oil in many countries, specifically Europe, that is caused by a lack of economic growth, the increase in The United States oil production, and The Organization of the PetroleumExporting Countries (OPEC) increase in oil production. With many of Europe s economically struggling countries the increase in production of oil which in return yields lower prices has benefitted them. Europe s weak economy is able to contribute to this drop in oil prices in that Europe s currently low inflation rate and weak economy has greatly lessened the demand for oil. The lack of demand for oil in one of the most prominent import continents in the world has forced oil manufactures to lower their prices in order to retain Europe as a top oil export. Large oil exporters do not want to lose Europe as an export because that would also mean losing billions of dollars per year. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
