Like Mexicans By Gary Soto
In the story, Like Mexicans by author Gary Soto explains how he was always told him to marry
a girl from his same ethnicity, but unexpectedly fell in love and married a Japanese girl. Sotos
grandmother advised him to marry a girl that fitted the stereotype of a Mexican girl. He decided
to ask his mom about the issue. His mom agreed that if he were to find a righteous Mexican
women to marry her. Soto decides to ask Scott as well, who happened to be a second generation
okie. An okie was what his grandma would call any person that was from a different ethnicity than
them. They talk about their future how one day they hope to reach the American Dream. They
share the same vision of marrying someone. It was shocking to him, that he ended up marrying a
Japanese woman because he never imagined marrying someone that wasn t Mexican. When he was
twenty years old, he fell in lovewith a girl that he knew his grandma would be concerned about.
Soto told his mom about the woman and how she was the one for him and the more he talked
about her the more his mom seemed to be worried. That s when he realized that his mother
wanted him to marry someone from his own social class. Everyone agreed that indeed he wasn t
good enough for his fiancee. One day Carolyn took Soto to her home to meet her parents. Soto
was nervous, until he sees her house and how alike their houses looked. He acknowledges how
alike their ethnicities were, mainly in the economic sense. As Soto is in the roadway he

Gaze Behavior In Hereditary Prosopagnosia
1. In the experiment, Gaze Behavior in Hereditary Prosopagnosia, the researchers concluded their
main focus on the theory of face recognition and how different individuals viewed one another
based on physical facial features alone. However researchers in the studied decided to look at
individuals who had heredity prosopagnosia, (which is known for the inability to recognize different
faces) seeing if there was a significant different between people recognizing faces with and without
this defect.

Challenges South African Americans Faced
South African ecologists currently face many challenges relating to the conservation of biodiversity
and the growing economy. Excessive hunting and land development, as well as unemployment, all
remain growing concerns for this struggling country. Jan Hendrik, a South African who made
contact with us, stated, South Africahas lots of social and economic problems because most people
are poor. To get them to middle class requires the economy to grow through mines and the
expansion of living areas (Hendrik). The growth of South Africas economy often occurs at nature s
expense. Mining, fracking, expansion of living areas and big game hunting all benefit the economy.
Unfortunately, each have detrimental effects on the land and animals.... Show more content on

In order to effectively combat these issues, leaders must implement new courses of action that
involve fundraising and awareness through the use of rhetorical sensitivity. According to Lloyd F.
Bitzer, associate professor of speech at the University of Wisconsin, a rhetorical situation arises
when a circumstance requires the attention of an audience. The audience must overcome obstacles
to achieve a certain goal set forth by the leader utilizing rhetorical discourse (Bitzer 9). Fundraising
provides one way for South African eco tourism companies to maintain their business and promote
more jobs for local people. In order for fundraising to yield the best results, leaders must be aware
that there is no reason to apologize for asking for a gift to a worthwhile cause (Rosso 6). Essentially,
leaders must have confidence in their cause, whether it includes the preservation of South Africa s
wildlife, the protection of its animals, or the promotion of employment among members of the
community. This positive attitude encourages tourists to donate more money or time to the
companies, aiding in achieving the goal s fulfillment. Rhetorically sensitive fund raisers may
present the exigence and constraints to their audience. In the case of ecotourism, the audience
consists of foreign tourists who bring new money to circulate throughout the struggling South
African communities. If leaders do not make a convincing

Herzl Anti Semites
It is essential that the sufferings of Jews became worse. This will assist in the realization of our
plans. I have an excellent idea. I shall induce anti semites to liquidate Jewish wealth. The anti
semites will assist us thereby in that they will strengthen the persecution and oppression of Jews.
The anti semites shall be our best friends Theodor Herzl diary. Theodor Herzl impacted the Arab
Israeli conflict by his organization called Zionism. Herzl was born in Hungary in May 2,1860.
He decided to move to Vienna because of his sister s death. He studied law but soon he became a
writer. In 1889 he married Julie Naschauer ,but later on it was an unhappy marriage. He had three

Herzl talked about how Jews needed a nation or a land of their own which jews could express

Congress in Basel, Switzerland where Herzl persuaded the delegates to accept his ideas. The
main reason was for The World Zionist Organization. People from other countries attended the
congress. Herzl was elected President of the organization. There are many perspectives about
Theodor Herzl and The Zionist Organization. Some Israeli are against Zionism because they
believe that it doesn t go with their beliefs and the traditional Judaism. It s being demanded by
political sovereignty. Before the Zionist Organization Jews and Arabs had a friendship and lived

Functional Training Vs Physical Therapy
Functional Training
People who practice functional training or physical therapy use similar techniques to help their
clients improve their mobility and physical quality of life. Physical and occupational therapists,
chiropractors, athletic trainers, and coaches use functional training exercises that mimic everyday
functional movements like pushing, pulling, squatting, walking, and running to improve a person s
strength, mobility, stability, and flexibility. These exercises help patients and athletes to reach their
goals safely and without causing further harm to an injury.
The Purpose of Functional Training
Functional training involves bodyweight resistance exercises, free and machine weights, medicine
balls, kettlebells, and various other equipment. Exercises are used to mimic the way the body
naturally moves thus limiting the potential for injury. Building muscles like the biceps or
quadriceps in isolation are not the purpose of functional training. Instead, the purpose is to
strengthen the muscles and build muscle endurance so that a client can better perform daily living
tasks. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

A person doesn t have to have a physical impairment, injury, disability, or a medical referral to

Abstract: A hybrid generation is a part of large power system in which number of sources usually
attached to a power electronic converter and loads are clustered can operate independent of the
main power system. The protection scheme is crucial against faults based on traditional over
current protection since there are adequate problems due to fault currents in the mode of operation.
This paper adopts a new approach for detection, discrimination of the faults for multi terminal
transmission line protection in presence of hybrid generation. Transient current based protection
scheme is developed with discrete wavelet transform. Fault indices of all phase currents at all
terminals are obtained by analyzing the detail coefficients of current signals using bior 1.5 mother
wavelet. This scheme is tested for different types of faults and is found effective for detection and
discrimination of fault with various fault inception angle and fault impedance.

Mealworm Research Paper
The mealworm is a the larval form of the mealworm beetle. The four stages of insect life start
when the mealworm egg is laid in the soil anywhere from a couple of days to a couple of
months. After it hatches it sheds its exoskeleton, causing them to be a light brown color. The
mealworms favorite meal are grains, like oatmeal and cornmeal. Once they have eaten enough,
usually a week or two later, they develop their hard outer shell. Mealworms are attracted to moist
and dark places, like household food items. Food items like oatmeal and grains are where they can
be found. When the mealworms do not live in civilization, they like to eat fungus, seeds, and plants.
They also can live their whole lives without any water, they mainly get their water... Show more

Birds enjoy eating the lighter colored mealworms. Because they are cheap and easy to
reproduce, mealworms are a perfect way to feed animals or yourself. The mealworms stay in the
egg phase of life for one to two weeks. Then they stay in the larva stage for one to three months,
which is perfect for feedings. They stay in the pupa stage for ten to twenty days. After the pupa
stage, they are adults and are ready to produce. It is simply, fast, and cheap to raise mealworms.
Mealworms are often used in science, especially in labs or experiments. Some experiments they
are involved in are light versus dark, diet tests, and life cycles. Examining the mealworms life
style shows the four stages of life in a manageable amount of time. Overall, mealworms are
valuable in every sense of the way. They can be used in science, as protein, meal replace, and also
as a pest. Another bug used in science is the roly poly bug. Roly poly bugs are interesting bugs
because of their body has its own set of amor. Whenever the bug suspects prey, it uses its armor
to roll into a ball. The armor appears like a dark and in layers, this allows the perfect ball shape
when it tries to protect itself. Roly poly bugs have a dark brown/ grayish color about them. The
darker color of their shell helps protect them from becoming

Sociological Imagination In Australian Society
Use your sociological imagination to reflect on your position in Australian society today. What
social factors have shaped who you are? (750 words) In this essay I will reflect upon how social
factors such as gender and family life have influenced my position in Australian society. At the
age of 13 my parents decided that I was old enough to catch the train into the city. When my
brother reached this age my parents were more reluctant in allowing him the same privilege,
according to them I was more mature so they trusted that I would be responsible. However, this
opinion differed to other things we did when growing up such as going to parties and going out at

group and that my male friends would also be there. Again, this differs from my brother s
experience. This change in my parent s attitude towards my brother and myself demonstrate how
gender plays such a strong role in how individuals are treated. These examples explore how two
people can be in the same situation but are treated differently purely because one is female and
one is male. The attitude my parents had towards my safety was reflected by the idea of the risks

Crooked Nose Research Paper
Crooked Nose
There are two procedures which are usually involved in the correction of a crooked nose. These
procedures include septoplasty, which is performed to improve or alleviate an airway obstruction,
and rhinoplasty, which is done to improve the external appearance of the nose. These two
procedures may be done individually, or together, depending on the needs and desires of the
patient. Then the physician can, if necessary, surgically realign the nasal septum to improve the air
flow, and, if desired by the patient also improve the cosmetic appearance of the nose.
The surgery, which may take anywhere from one to three hours, is usually performed on an
outpatient basis under local or general anesthesia. A small splint will be attached to the outside of
the nose and should be worn for approximately one week. The final appearance of the nose is not
apparent for six to twelve months because normal healing takes place gradually. Generally,
insurance will cover a procedure to improve or alleviate an airway obstruction, but not a procedure
to improve the external appearance of the nose. For a patient who has both septoplasty ... Show

examination combined with special imaging techniques can reveal the reasons for these sinus
conditions. They can be the result of three main problems: allergies and pollutants that thicken the

techniques which have been recently developed use tiny endoscopes, to relieve specific blockage
for the nasal passages. The treatment is done as an outpatient and does not require nasal packing.

The Effects Of Violence On Groups And Out Groups
This paper aimed to determine whether or not violence affected in groups and out groups.
Specifically, the paper was looking at how and if violence affected divisions between in groups and
out groups. The conductor(s) used the postwar community in Kosovo for the research and
experiments. The researcher(s) found that violence does have an affect on in groups/out group
divisions. The researcher(s) found that violence is shown to increase the division between in groups
and out groups when the distinctions are already evident. Additionally, researcher(s) found that
local communities that experience more violence were more uncertain of people outside their local
communities. I think that this manuscript should be rejected because although the researcher(s) is
missing a major true experiment component, there is not a good argument for causation over
correlation, and the paper does not address the reliability and validity. The experiment used in this
manuscript is very well put together and thoroughly explained. The researcher(s) gives a very
detailed account of the experiment, as they should incase other researchers want to recreate the
experiment. It is important that other researchers are able to recreate the experiment because it
shows reliability. However I would recommend this paper for rejection because the experiment is
lacking a control group. According to Bachman and Schutt (2013), true experiments must have at
least one experimental group and one control group,

Underlying Neurobiological Processes
It has been agreed in the literature that memories can generally be defined in terms of time
(Nader, Schafe LeDoux, 2000). Memory is sensitive to disruption soon after learning as it is in a
labile state of short term memory (STM). Conversely, memory enters a stable form and is less
sensitive to such disruptions in long term memory(LTM) at a later stage after learning (Nader et
al.). Research has argued that the process in which labile new memories transform into stable long
lasting memories is known as consolidation (Nader et al.). After memories are consolidated, they
can re enter states of transient instability, making them vulnerable to disruption immediately after
retrieval (Yue et al., 2012; Si et al., 2012). This is known as memory reconsolidation (Yue et al.; Si
et al.). Finally, the re exposure to a particular context without reinforcement can lead to memory
extinction (Merlo Romano, 2008).That is, the temporary weakening of an earlier conditioned
response can lead to extinction (Merlo Romano). However, the number of events or duration of a
single event in that exposure will determine whether memory extinction or reconsolidation is
activated (Merlo Romano).
Although learning to fear danger is essential to survival, many anxiety disorders are underpinned by
the dysregulation of the fear system (OyarzГєn et al., 2012). Accordingly, much research has been
dedicated to developing strategies for supressing fear memories in maladaptive cases (OyarzГєn et
al.;

Main Ideas and Themes of Beowulf Essay
Beowulf and Sir Gawain have many things in common. We will be discussing them later on, but
their main similarity is that they re both heroes. A hero is a person who must pass through a test
and a battle (mental, spiritual or physical) to help someone else. He must be selfless, and act for
others rather than himself. All societies have supported heroes, like the ancient Greek s Hercules
and the modern day Spiderman. These are hero stereotypes, with supernatural powers. Heroes don t
have to be stereotypes, but can be firemen, policemen or soldiers. Two famous heroes in ancient
literature are Beowulfand Sir Gawain.

Beowulf s test is to defeat the evil creature Grendel, protecting his hall and soldiers. Sir Gawain s
test is to resist temptation to steal a magic belt, and steal the master s wife! Even though both
tests are different, Beowulf s test and Gawain s test both test courage. The courage to take on a
monster and the courage to resist stealing and keeping you re word! In the end, both succeeded,
Grendel was killed, and sir Gawain received his blow, and stayed alive, but both had
consequences. Beowulf s friends got killed, and later on Grendel s mother attacks him, and sir
Gawain had been given a cut to his neck, and lost his honor.
The test the heroes have to face, is often put up by a villain, and both have their fair share of
villains. In Beowulf the enemy is a dark monster, which eats human and has super strength, enough
to bend iron. In Sir Gawain, the apparent villain is the green knight, who challenges sir Gawain to
a grueling beheading contest . After it s head falls off, he is not harmed, so he has some weird
magical qualities. Both have supernatural powers and striking appearances, but the difference is
that in sir Gawain and the green knight, the green knight is just the master of the kingdom in
disguise, testing the nobility of King Arthur s knights, and not a mortal enemy.
The main difference in the two poems is the

How Software Developers Invented New Development Processes...
In this paper I will discuss what are the similarities and differences in the case study should you
build strategy like you build software? and the book? And, advantages and disadvantages of
specific strategies mentioned in both the book and the case study.
The case study focuses on the importance of developing strategies that are newer, faster and more
effective strategy making processes. The case study compares how software developers invented
new development processes, such as rapid application development, extreme programming and agile
software development, to confront the new realities, where many strategists in various companies
uses traditional approaches that are not as effective as the strategies used by software developers.
The case study emphasizes on the importance of updating and changing strategies so companies
can run a smooth operation. The case study has only focused on one form of strategy which is
Adaptive Approach to Strategy Development, The Spiral Model as the best and most effective
strategy.
The book mentions various forms of strategies in details. Also, it emphasizes on the importance of
choosing the right strategy in order for a company to succeed as we have seen the case study, In
chapter six we can see the importance of competitive advantage, steps involved in strategy making
process, types of corporate level strategies, various types of industrial strategies and components of
firm level strategies.

Florida’s Literacy Problem Essay
Florida s Literacy Problem
Despite numerous literacy promoting programs all over the state of Florida, literacy still
remains a problem for this state. People just don t seem to want to waste their precious free time
staring at words on a piece of paper, but would rather stare at moving pictures on a screen.
Obviously this is a problem, as Florida s FCAT scoresare less then perfect when compared to the
scores of the rest of the nation. Something needs to be done to get Florida reading.
It may be unfair to attribute all of Florida s reading problems to television. Not everyone in
Florida has cable or even owns a TV. Many poor children have no permanent home and therefore

Third grade is the last year of education that students are taught to read. In 2002, forty two
percent to third graders in Polk County failed the reading portion of the FCAT. This very clearly
shows that most of Florida s, or at least Polk County s reading problems begin in elementary
school. The blame for this can go to schools that have sub par reading programs. It can alternatively
be attributed to parents who don t take the time to read with their children or hire tutors to help
them when they need it. Most likely both are at blame, but only the schools seem to be putting
forth an effort for changes. Florida s parents need to understand that they are very capable of
teaching their children to read.
Summer reading programs can help students struggling with literacy tremendously. When students
read over the summer they keep their reading skills sharp instead of having to relearn them as soon
as school starts again in the fall, which can be a big hindrance on their studies. The summer is
also prime time for parents to hire tutors when their services are needed. Some teenagers will even
tutor for free in the interest of obtaining service hours for scholarships. Parents should also make
time over the summer to help their children themselves if they are having problems with reading.
Having the support of parents can make all the difference in a child s motivation to learn.

The Wicker Man Essay
Filled with mystery and thriller, The Wicker Man is one of the strangest yet interesting films out

Cage s character, Edward Malus, is looking for his daughter who had vanished. It is filled with
twists and turns throughout the film, making it interesting and entertaining. I felt as if the film was
well made and had a different storyboard compared to traditional thriller mysteries.
Edward Malus, a police man in Washington, has been experiencing strange dreams and
hallucinations since a car crash occurred after he had pulled a woman and her daughter over. He

The Comparison of Themes between Lord of the Flies and Animal Farm
The author of Animal Farm, Orwell, tells a story of a farmyard tragedy and the deadly lives of a
group of animals. Due to the disappearance of humans, Napoleon abuses his power and gradually
transforms into a human. Orwell also used animals to clarify that humans are corrupted due to
power. The author of Lord of the Flies, Golding, shows a similar story where it is about life and
death situation for a group of lost boys on a island that is trying to establish a democracy while on
the island. Both authors of novels, Lord of the Flies and Animal Farm demonstrate the comparison

The characters of the novel are fit to the theme of man s intuitive evilness, as the boys are under
the age of 14. When they continue to enjoy torturing others, they reveal their enjoyment of being
savages. They do not desire any order or law of directing force in their state of savagery.
In Animal Farm, George Orwell uses satirical allegory throughout his novel to present the
pessimistic view of human nature. The animal fable is used to demonstrate the issues of unfair
treatment, exploitation and inequality in society. It is evident that this irony is particularly evident
in the ending of both novels (Gulbin 88). The satirist irony is directed on the events of the Russian
Revolution and on the totalitarian regime. Orwell uses political reason with creative reason to
show his negative belief that people only change the dictators though revolutions but the systems
stay the same. It is only a dream that people can gain a classless society through revolutions.
Orwell believes that everyone wants equality, yet it is in one s nature as human beings to obtain
power.
Napoleon, who is represented as an evil power hungry pig, becomes the villain that destroys the
farm through his manipulative acts such as abusing the animals, cutting rations, increasing labor,
and in the end making an imbalance of equality. The revolution that promised freedom delivered

Catcher In The Rye Phoniness Analysis
Phoniness in The Catcher in the Rye
While phoniness and loss of innocence are unavoidable parts of life, Holden Caulfield, in The
Catcher in the Rye, cannot seem to accept it which leads him to depression and mental instability.
Holden is easily aggravated by any impression of phoniness and he realizes that all adults exhibit
pretentious qualities. As a result, he tries to protect all children, the only innocent beings in his life,
from being exposed to phoniness. However, growing up and losing innocence are not preventable,
thus causing him to exhaust himself through his useless efforts. Holden s dislike towards phoniness
and hypocrisy in the adult world leads him to try and protect the innocence in younger generations
and ultimately leaves him disappointed in his inevitable failure to do so. Holden often addresses
his hostility toward phoniness in the adult world because he does not understand why adults find
the need to misrepresent themselves or their feelings. At his old school, Elkton Hills, he observed
that the headmaster went around shaking hands with everybody s parents [...] except if some boy
had little old funny looking parents (17). He could not tolerate seeing people act this way and left
the school. However, he is faced with phoniness at his new school, Pencey, as well. The school s
advertisement presents some hot shot guy on a horse jumping over a fence even though there is no
polo team (4). He also notices the phoniness in his classmates including

A Study of Warfare in Europe Between 1300 and 1500
Since the introduction of gunpowder into Europe, it has gone on to dominate warfare into the
twentieth century. With the development of the first European guns in the fourteenth century,
armies were given use of a weapon which was to radically alter most of the ways of making war
which had been established during the Middle Ages, and changes began to be seen within only
a few years. It is, however, questionable whether the nature of these early changes constituted a
revolution in the methods of war, and even more so whether guns had by 1500 made a great deal
of impact on the character of war as it had existed in 1300. In assessing whether a revolution had
taken place (or at least whether one was in the process of happening) by 1500, it is... Show more

The use of the counterweight trГ©buchet, which had been in existence in Roman times, failed to
decline until the 1380s and was still listed as an active weapon in some French arms inventories
until the 1460s. This shows the gradual nature of the introduction of gunpowder artillery (perhaps
caused by shortages of materials for the cannons or unwillingness to invest in them when a prince
already owned trГ©buchets), but there was little doubt that guns were becoming by far the better
siege weapons. Their importance gave rise to a kind of arms race in France in particular, with
cities in the contested areas of the Hundred Years War assigning the acquisition of guns a high
priority. Charles the Bold s army included a substantial artillery element in his war with the
Swiss (although he was perhaps not a good enough general to make effective use of it), while in
1494, Charles VIII invaded Italy with ...an army of 18,000 men and a horse drawn siege train of
at least forty guns. Even contemporaries realised that this marked a new departure in warfare: in
1498 the Venetian Senate declared that the wars of the present time are influenced more by the
force of bombards and artillery than by men at arms .
Despite their undoubted worth, however, artillery did have a number of disadvantages at this time.
Perhaps the main one of these is the chronic difficulty of moving

Dunshy V. Court Case Summary
A contract is considered a legally binding agreement. A valid contract is an agreement that is
binding and enforceable. A contract is not enforced if one of the parties involved has a lack of
capacity. When lack of capacity is determiend a contract is voidable. A contract signed by a
minor can be avoided because anyone under the age of 18 is a minor and minors are not legally
capable of signing contracts. Since Alex signed the contract at the age of 16, it is not a binding
contract.
Quasi contracts are required by the court to prevent unjust enhancements when there is a dispute
over payment. Technically the courts could hold the Dunphy s responsible for payment. Quasi
contractual liability would not be imposed if the Dunphy s were on vacation in Hawaii and were
unaware that the work was completed. The Dunphy s would not be responsible for the completed
work or payment in this situation. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The court could rule that the Dunphy s pay for the services provided, but because Alex is a
minor, this might not apply. Since the roof has been fixed and the job completed, Alex is unable
to give back or return the received product. Alex can disaffirm the contract. A minors right to
disaffirm a contract is not affected even if what has been received has been spent, used, damaged,
or destroyed. Common law rule states, minors can thus refuse to pay for items received under a
contract. (Twomey et al. , 2017). Since the service was completed under a contract signed by a
minor, Alex can refuse to pay for that

The Memories Of The Tape Recorder s Message
Static announced the beginning of the tape recorder s message. Papers shuffled, old couch springs
squeaked, disembodied voices cleared themselves as they prepared to speak.
Do you have a happy place? A woman s voice inquired. Curt, professional, emotionless. It
summoned up the picture perfect image of your typical therapist, complete with dyed blonde hair
and square black glasses.
Hesitation. It lasted so long, one might begin to ponder if there was even anyone there to do the
hesitating, or if the question fell on an empty room, until a second voice eventually piped up from
the concealment of silence. I guess, if memories count. Deeper, huskier tones betrayed this speaker
as a man. While he sounded younger than her, perhaps in his ... Show more content on

and artistic like that. The longer he spoke of the yacht s color and beauty, the more colorful and
beautiful his own voice became. It picked itself up from it s empty crawl and gained speed, fueled
by new emotion and wonder. This speaker, whoever he was, engaged himself fully in the story he
told, enticing listeners to lean forward and wrap themselves into his words.
Inside the yacht, everything was just as beautiful. Red carpets, expensive furniture, the rich scent
of the sea. Our conversations were still awkward and uncertain, we d barely known each other a
week at this point, but he still referred to me with his cute little Italian terms of endearment. At

Compare And Contrast Monty Python And The Holy Grail
Chivalry and courtly love are two Arthurian sentiments displayed in Monty Python and the Holy
Grail, Le Morte d Arthur, and Sir Gawain and the Green Knight. Monty Python and the Holy
Grail differs from Le Morte d Arthur and Sir Gawain and the Green Knight because the film
satirizes chivalry and courtly love while the other works are upholding it as orthodox. Courtly love
from the Middle Ages consisted of knights chasing a fair maiden while always being respectful and
courteous to her. Chivalry is a code of conduct that King Arthurs conventional knights uphold,
which includes remaining honorable and ready to help the weak. Monty Python and the Holy Grail
is a lampoon that utilizes satire to ridicule chivalry and courtly love to not only amuse... Show more

This chivalrous act is derided in Monty Python and the Holy Grail when King Arthur confronts the
Black Knight blocking the path to the bridge. King Arthur insists on crossing the bridge instead
of going around, forcing a confrontation between the Arthur and the Black Knight. Arthur
shows no mercy in the battle and cuts the Black Knight s limbs off, one by one. This
demonstrates satire because as the Black Knights limbs are being cut off, King Arthur continues
to slice at him, displaying an exaggeration of showing no mercy. The Black Knight persists
against Arthur, also mocking how one must never recoil before the enemy, even if one s limbs
are removed. In Le Morte d Arthur, King Arthur is merciless against Modred, his bastard son
whom attempts to take over King Arthur s kingdom, and pierces Modred with a spear. This
instance is an example of chivalry because King Arthur does not hesitate to kill his own son nor
does he display clemency. Modred as a response does not recoil, which is also is in the code of
conduct of chivalry. When a knight faces the enemy, he should never flinch or shy away because
of fear. This aspect of chivalry is parodied in Monty Python and the Holy Grail when King Arthur
and his knights brawled with the Killer Rabbit of Caerbannog. The Killer Rabbit is an unearthly
creature because it leaps incredible lengths and wrenches a knight s head off with one bite. This
scene is executed to make the confrontation appear ridiculous to the audience by the otherworldly
rabbit decapitating one of King Arthur s praised knights, proving them to be inept in battle. In Sir
Gawain and the Green Knight, the Green Knight, a mystic man with a green complexion and a
body made of nature, challenges a knight to a beheading game. When Sir Gawain accepts this
challenge, he decapitates the Green Knight, whom proceeds to ride away although

Mortgage Fraud And The Big Short By Starring Christian...
Mortgage fraud is one of the costliest, yet seldom prosecuted crimes in the criminal world.
CoreLogic estimates approximately $13 billion in fraud losses occurred in 2012, according to
the latest available data in the 2012 Mortgage Fraud Trends Report (Gerding, 2013). While these
numbers may seem high, the approximate $13 billion in losses is only a fraction of what it would
be if every case were to be prosecuted. Mortgagefraudwas also a major contributing factor towards
a national, and nearly global economic collapse in 2008 when the United States economy saw the
worst recession it has seen since the great depression. Anyone that has seen the films 99 homes
starring Andrew Garfield and Michael Shannon or The Big Short starring Christian Bale and Ryan
Gosling has seen a largely realistic glimpse of mortgage fraud and how devastating it can be.
White collar crime: Mortgage fraud Traditionally, there are three types of mortgage fraud that
are the most common and well known. These three types are fraud for profit , fraud for housing
and a third type that deals with overestimating a property s value or submitting a false appraisal
(Schmalleger, 2016). A relatively new fourth type of mortgage fraud that quickly escalated
following the economic crash of 2008 involves a series of scams claiming to save property owners
from foreclosure.
A criminal that commits fraud for profit essentially inquires about a home or property, makes an
offer desirable to the seller and places

Water Margin
The narrative Water Margin establishes Wu Sung as a complicated, multifaceted character who
encompasses a combination of heroism and violence. Due to his complex personality and the
corruptive environment he lives in, Wu Sung cannot remain as a member of the civilized society;
instead, he enters Jiang Hu, a realm that is governed by people s own judgments instead of standard
laws. Beginning with Wu Sung s first appearance, the author constantly provides hints that depict
Wu Sung as an individual who is different from the rest of society due to his violent character. As

As the text continues, Wu Sung s interaction with the innkeeper confirms the abusive thoughts
Wu Sung carries within him. When the innkeeper convinces Wu Sung to stop drinking, Wu
Sung responds, Do not provoke me to anger or I shall smash the whole room into atoms, and turn
your inn upside down (305). If any other characters make such statement, the reader might take it
as an empty threat. However, after learning about Wu Sung s background and extraordinary
strength, the reader understands that Wu Sung would carry out such actions if his desires are
not satisfied. This interaction is also thought provoking because it happens one day after Wu
Sung left Sung Chiang. Thus, the author seems to convey the message that Wu Sung would
always be a wild man because the positive impacts others have on him would always gradually
leave him. Therefore, despite how Wu Sung later courageously kills the tiger and generously
gives his rewards to others, there is a part of him that resembles the tiger he kills, the brutality
that makes him different from everyone else. The author also depicted Wu Sung as an outsider
who stays in a society but is not a member of the society. When Wu Sung kills his sister in law,
Mrs. Wu, despite the murderous acts Mrs. Wu committed, her gruesome death is still a striking
scene. The author spends great details on this particular scene, The [Wu Sung] stooped down, and
ripped open her blouse

Narrative Family Therapy Paper
According to Winek (2010) narrative family therapy has several interventions that are used.
Listening to the family and showing interested in getting to know the members of the family as
people and in making sure that the problem does not trick us into mistaking them for it (Metcalf,

questions can lead to separating person from problem , identifying preferred directions, and creating
alternative stories to support these directions. Externalization is a process of separating the person
from identifying with the problem. The person is not the problem; the problem is the problem.

The order of 1986 purported to apply to the State Article 249, which empowers Parliament to
legislate even on a matter in the State List if a Rajya Sabha resolution so authorises it by a two

Union List or in the Concurrent List.
The Union thus acquired the power to legislate not only on all matters in the State List, but others

States, an amendment to the Constitution would require a two thirds vote by both Houses of

Importance Of Clubbing And Nightlife
Clubbing is seen and experienced in different parts of the world and music is always a part of this
activity. Music is seen and experienced in various spaces based on interactions at a certain time
between agents and the place. As a result of ethnographic encounters in six dance clubs in Baguio

this paper argues that there is a communicative value attached to musicking and experiencing music
in clubs, entangled with the social value attached to clubbing and music production and

the quotidian understanding of music production and consumption. Musicking in nightclubs also

Furthermore, Ellis discovered his clients seemed to progress more rapidly than when he used

Emotional Intelligence Research Paper
Many people have a complete misconception of what, exactly, makes someone an entrepreneur.
Pop culture has bombarded us with the image of the money hungry businessman out to make a
profit at whatever cost to his personal life and relationships, not all too far from Jesse Eisenberg s
portrayal of Facebook founder Mark Zuckerburg in 2010 s Social Network. However, having spent
the last semester in my first entrepreneurial studies, it is clear that the real entrepreneurs of our
society have qualities that go much deeper than a lust for money or fame. Entrepreneurship is
defined by Bruce Barringer, of Oklahoma State University, as the process by which individuals
pursue opportunities without regard to resources they currently control, and in order to fulfill this
role an entrepreneurmust possess the qualities of a leader as have been discussed in our time in
Project LEAD thus far. Specifically, they must possess a mix of traits that has come to be known as
emotional intelligence. The need for emotional intelligence can be clearly seen when analyzing its
key components and how entrepreneurs use them. The first and one of the most important
components of emotional intelligence is self awareness. According to Daniel Goleman in his
Harvard Business Review article on emotional intelligence, self awareness means having a deep
understanding of one s emotions, strengths, weaknesses, needs, and drives, or to put it simply,
having an understanding of why you do what you do.

Have supplements and fine tuned dieting given some athletes an edge over others? After merely
decades of research and clinical trials, studies have shown the enormous benefits supplements and
consistent dieting has on an athlete. Supplements like whey protein, creatine, caffeine, and

When ingested, complex carbohydrates are broken down within the stomach and absorbed by
muscles. The amount of glycogen stored by a muscle is directly correlated to the amount of work

the glycogen stores within the muscle are depleted, fatigue sets in and hinders the athlete s ability
to perform. Therefore, supplements have been made to provide athletes with carbohydrates that can
replenish the glycogen stores, which allows them to perform past their usual capacity and avoid the
effects of fatigue. Fats play an important role in maintaining the health of joints and major organs,
which is why fats are part of a balanced diet and cannot be neglected. Omega 3 fatty acids protect a

Applying And Choosing A Place Of Higher Education Essay
As childhood comfort slowly slips away when children transition from elementary, middle, to high
school, the idea that seemed so fantastical in toddlers daydreams becomes concrete and
frightening: the future. High school students are presented with a short four year period to decide
what they want to pursue, and the junior year of high school is where most students are hit hardest.
As a junior, the daunting task of preparing for one s future is suddenly presented, and everything
one has accomplished in life, in combination with many standardized tests, will be assembled to do
one task: applying and choosing a place of higher education. Three important criteria in college
searching are admission standards, location, and athletic programs, and two post high school

these aspects. As a primary benchmark, the admission standards for a university will need to be

The Soviet Union
Gain of Prestige The Soviet Union was already setting up a unique standard of gender roles and
gender equality, so the reinforced emphasis on fertility created an interesting return to traditional
gender stereotypes. Despite the resurgence of the traditional ideal, the 1936 Decree was able to
emphasize motherhood and nurturing without limiting women to the more feminine role. Instead,
what occurred was the super heroine role, where the women s maternity and industrial capital
were both valued. Women were given both higher recognition for their role as a mother and also
allowed to remain independent through her industrial power. The emphasis on the mother figure
was seen throughout the whole 1936 decree, but most blatantly through the Mother Heroine
awards. The Mother Heroine awards were an official government run propaganda scheme set up
by the Stalinist regime, in the form of medals given out to mothers based on the amount of
children they had. A mother with five to six children received a Motherhood Medal. A mother
with seven to nine children received a Mother Glory award, and a mother with ten or more
children gained the highest achievement, the Mother Heroine award. Those who received the
Mother Heroine award were also given a special certificate of the Praesidium of the Supreme

and prison reform. One policy that correlates to crime and drug use that has brought attention across
the nation is the legalization of marijuana. Marijuana has been consumed in the United States for
numerous years and has grown in popularity culminating in multiple states legalizing the drug.
There is large debate concerning whether nationwide legalizationis worth the cost. Of course, with
any controversial decision, there are always going to be pros and cons. Those who oppose
legalization make claims that marijuana is a gateway drug, impairs judgment, and is addictive.
Although those points are true to an extent there are also many benefits. Of the many benefits, the
most noteworthy ones are that marijuana can bring a lot of money to the government and economy,
it helps treat sickness and diseases, and it can be a safer alternative than opioid based medications.
The legalization of marijuana would also highly impact the criminal justice system by making law
enforcement more accessible to other areas where they are needed which can save the government
a lot of money. In this instance, legalizing marijuana would bring many benefits to society such as
stimulating the economy, treating sicknesses, providing government relief, and lowering opioid
use. The economy is vital to this country and the popularity of marijuana implies that growing this
crop would be a strong contributor

Essay On Dorm
Introduction
Of the eighteen freshman dorms I have chosen Canaday as my primary place of study. Canaday
is centrally located in Harvard`s Oak Yard in which it shares with Thayer. It is the newest dorm
built by Harvard and its students enjoy its central location next to Annenberg and the Science
Center. Canaday is divided into seven vertical entryways which have a variety of different suites
available. Canaday is actually three separate buildings which create a courtyard in the center. My
particular room of study was located on the fourth floor of C hall. The room dimension is eight
feet by ten feet. The reason for excavating this dorm room was to find out more about the life of a

Still to the right of the rug was a pink textured round trash can which was about one and one half
feet tall by one feet wide. The contents of the trash can included an empty kettle corn bag of
popcorn, several pieces of gum, a diabetes sensor, soft textured face pads, a few scrap pieces of
paper and a mango bar wrapper. Immediately to the right of the trash can was the laundry bag.
Inside of the laundry bag there was several dirty shirts, unisuits, and pants. On the right of the
laundry bag there was a large brown wooden desk. Around the perimeter of the desk there were
white string origami lights which were shut off. At the base there was an eight hole power strip
which had the lights, a personal laptop computer plugged into it, two notebooks, a pencil case
(with pencils), six novel sized books, a half eaten chocolate bar and a lamp.
Live in Dorm Student
The dorm student whose room I had the pleasure of excavating is eighteen years of age, female
gendered, caucasian descent, and seemingly in the middle class. I have arrived at the conclusion of
middle class based on the decorations present in the room. These include nice light strings, tapestry,
desk lamp light, mini tree by the window, and bedspread. The other identifications of race, gender,
and age I came to the conclusion of through a conversation with the subject.

In conclusion I have gained several insights from this excavation not only on my live in dorm

Gender and Sex Norms in Sports Essay
Gender and Sex Norms in Sports
In our society there are costs both socially and culturally for individuals who choose to violate their
own gender and/or sex norms. We live in a time when, though great advancements have been made,
gender roles are still differentiated out from each other with specific behavior and lifestyle
expectations built into our value system and ascribed to individuals. The past decade has seen a
growing move away from such distinct male/female expectations, however in areas such as sport
the differences and problems that still exist in our gender ideology are much more visible. Though
we are aware of these differences and can discuss them in a class environment (such as we did the
past four Wednesdays) it is... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Things changed though, with technology. More and more it was necessary for women to work and
become involved in the public sphere. Out of circumstances they were becoming fiercer, and more
competitive. This challenged the traditional roles women were required to fill and gradually,
women fought back. They began to reclaim themselves and their rights not just in the domestic or
private sphere, but in a public realm as well. They demanded equal rights both in terms of politics
and opportunity. This meant they wanted equal opportunity in everything education, the job
market, and sports.
Title 9 guaranteed these rights. In paper, it guaranteed these rights. In reality, it was still a battle for
women to identify themselves as serious athletes and be taken seriously. It was getting easier
though. Title 9 brought about many policy changes allowing women to enter into the world of
sport. The advancements made opened many opportunity and also many peoples minds. There are
still many problems though, as to where sports and athletics can be allowed to merge with
femininity, masculinity, and traditional gender roles.
The world of sports highlights the problems that still exist for women as well as problems with
modern sex stereotyping and generalizing. The expectations we hold for men and women are less
clear in the realm of sport and the issue has been recently where to draw the line. Is there a line
that can be drawn? By

Legal Professional Personal Values And Ethics
Ethics
Introduction
What is ethics, and what does it have to do with personal and professional points of view? This
paper will address how one s personal and/or professional point of view influence ethical
decisions in the work place and the leadership traits that are necessary to make those decision.
Also provided in this paper will be several examples of cases where individual personal point of
view caused them to make professional decisions that had an adverse reaction on those they serve.
Ethics Defined
Black law dictionary defines ethics as; 1. A system of moral tenets or principles; the collective
doctrines relating to the ideals of human conduct and character. 2. The study of behavior as judged
by moral right and wrong, including ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The second condition for ethical dilemma is that there must be different courses of action to choose
from. Tyler has to decide whether to refuse to work on the case, because it goes against his values,
but prevents him from fulfilling his professional responsibilitiy or working on the case ,and
compromising his personal values for his professional responsibility. Third, in an ethical dilemma,
no matter what course of action is taken, some ethical principle is compromised. In other words,
there is no perfect solution. Either decision bares consequences for the individual making them,
consequences that they alone must endure.
Brown et al, propose that leaders become attractive, credible, and legitimate as ethical role models
in part by engaging in ongoing behaviors that are evaluated by followers as normatively appropriate,
and that suggest altruistic (rather than selfish) motivation (2005, p. 120).
The following court cases offers a view of individuals in positions of leadership who stood by their
convictions, and chose to live with the consequence of those decisions.

The Walt Disney Corporation
The Walt Disney Corporation was founded in 1923 under the name Disney Brothers Cartoon
Studio by brothers Walt and Roy Disney. The company brandished its current name in 1986 after
the death of Walt Disney (1). This company like other large conglomerates has a vice grip on the
flow of information that reaches consumers like you and me. Some people believe that having
these corporations constricting our access to information leads to a generation of uninformed
people, but in the day and age when anybody can get onto to google and search with specific
enough criteria to find articles proving any stand point... they were going to be uninformed any
way. For example, there are people out there who believe vaccines cause autism, there are plenty...

For example, The Walt DisneyCorporation owns more channels than just the ones that share its
namesake. These companies include: ABC broadcast network, Disney Channel, Freeform
publishing, The History Channel, Lifetime Movie Network, Marvel Studios, Pixar Studios, AND a
32% holding of Hulu, an 80% holding of ESPN Inc., and 50% holding of A E. If you didn t know
the name by now, then it should be painfully obvious at this point. The scarier thing is that each
of the networks listed has even more subsidiaries that add to the reach of Disney. One example is
ESPN Inc., it owns ESPN, ESPN2, ESPN3, ESPN on ABC, ESPNews, ESPN Deportes, ESPN
Films, ESPNU, ESPN Classic, ESPN Now, SEC Network, and ESPN The Magazine... just to name
a few (6).
Disney is known for that Iconic shape of one specific cartoon mouse, the symbol it s self has
changed as the years go on but Mickey Mouse s head/ silhouette is always an easily recognizable
logo for a company that everyone knows. The logo was originally adopted in 1991, 63 years
after the original Steamboat Willie was produced (1). This was one of the many firsts for Disney
allowing them to maintain their status of a multimedia powerhouse of the US. The very first
completely animated feature length film was produced by Disney in 1937, you may have heard of
it, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. No one has ever even attempted anything like this

The Critique Of The Film Casablanca
The three time Academy Award winning film Casablanca is a 1942 American romantic drama
film directed by Michael Curtiz a well known director for his wonderful production. The film

the film being made up of uncertainty and drama, it was completed on August 3rd 1942 and
released in the United States on January 23rd 1943. Before naming the film Casablancait was
named Everybody comes to Ricks which was an unproduced film by Murray Burnett and Joan

They enjoyed the view of the nightclub that they went too that night and had to idea to make it
into a film as it was a great setting. Because they renamed the film, parts of the script had to be re
written. The first writers on the script were twin brothers who left the film for another opportunity
in 1942 and the other credited writer, Howard Koch was hired. He wrote around thirty to forty
pages for the script but as soon as the twin brothers returned, his work went to garbage and had the
brothers re write the script. Both writers, still worked writing for the film even though some work
was not to be used. At the end of the production, the brothers earned $30, 416 and Koch earned
$4, 200. After shooting at been completed, Wallis called Bogard into set for the final line he had
written as he thought the ending was not done properly. The line Wallis had written Louis, I think
this is the beginning of a beautiful friendship, made the ending of the film have a lot more sense.
In spite of having many writers, one writer describes the script as a wonderfully unified and
consistent script. The film ran into some trouble with Joseph Breen of the Production Code
Administration due to having sexual scenes and vulgar language in the film. When they came
across any sexual scenes or vulgar words, they would remove it as quick as possible or change

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Composites In Oil Industry
COMPOSITES IN OIL AND GAS INDUSTRY
Composite materials are multiphase materials obtained through the artificial combination of
different materials in order to attain properties that the individual components by themselves cannot
attain. They are not multiphase materials in which the different phases are formed naturally by
reactions, phase transformations, or other phenomena. An example is carbon fiber reinforced
polymer. Composite materials should be distinguished from alloys, which can comprise two more
components but are formed naturally through processes such as casting. Composite materials can
be tailored for various properties by appropriately choosing their components, their proportions, their
distributions, their morphologies, their degrees of crystallinity, their crystallographic textures, as
well as the structure and composition of the interface between components. Due to this strong tailor
ability, composite materials can be designed to satisfy the needs of ... Show more content on

Due to the use of them, mass of construction is reduced up to 80%. Composites are already greatly
used for the production of pipe systems for fluid transport, pressure vessels, drill pipes and their

platforms for the protection against fire etc. Basic advantages of the use of composite materials
when compared to conventional material which is steel, are reduction of mass of primary and
secondary constructions, introduction of new technologies (for example installation of conducting
infrastructures into drill pipes), better physical and chemical characteristics (corrosion resistance,
buckling strength), longer life time of the construction (for example within 25 years carbon fibers
lose 2 10% of initial strength), easy installation of the construction, higher safety at work, and

Kenya is also the preferred entry point for companies wishing to expand further in the region.
Moreover, East Africa s largest economy is one of the most innovative on the African continent,

Tanzania s notable economic expansion in recent years has been facilitated by open market policies
related to global commerce. The financial sector and the investment framework are relatively well
developed for the region. However, these strengths are offset by weak socioeconomic indicators,
structurally large current account and budgetdeficits, and rising debt levels.
Growth in the agricultural sector has been driven by increased production of major food crops such
as maize, sorghum and cassava, but the sector s performance remains below potential. In turn, the
services and industrial sectors have shown strong growth. The nascent banking sector and
expanding telecommunications sector are key drivers behind services growth, while construction,
electricity generation, manufacturing and mining are salient sub sectors in industrial activity.
Looking ahead, the banking and telecommunication sectors will continue to support services
growth, while increased electricity generation capacity will benefit the expansion of the

  • 2. Like Mexicans By Gary Soto In the story, Like Mexicans by author Gary Soto explains how he was always told him to marry a girl from his same ethnicity, but unexpectedly fell in love and married a Japanese girl. Sotos grandmother advised him to marry a girl that fitted the stereotype of a Mexican girl. He decided to ask his mom about the issue. His mom agreed that if he were to find a righteous Mexican women to marry her. Soto decides to ask Scott as well, who happened to be a second generation okie. An okie was what his grandma would call any person that was from a different ethnicity than them. They talk about their future how one day they hope to reach the American Dream. They share the same vision of marrying someone. It was shocking to him, that he ended up marrying a Japanese woman because he never imagined marrying someone that wasn t Mexican. When he was twenty years old, he fell in lovewith a girl that he knew his grandma would be concerned about. Soto told his mom about the woman and how she was the one for him and the more he talked about her the more his mom seemed to be worried. That s when he realized that his mother wanted him to marry someone from his own social class. Everyone agreed that indeed he wasn t good enough for his fiancee. One day Carolyn took Soto to her home to meet her parents. Soto was nervous, until he sees her house and how alike their houses looked. He acknowledges how alike their ethnicities were, mainly in the economic sense. As Soto is in the roadway he ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 4. Challenges South African Americans Faced South African ecologists currently face many challenges relating to the conservation of biodiversity and the growing economy. Excessive hunting and land development, as well as unemployment, all remain growing concerns for this struggling country. Jan Hendrik, a South African who made contact with us, stated, South Africahas lots of social and economic problems because most people are poor. To get them to middle class requires the economy to grow through mines and the expansion of living areas (Hendrik). The growth of South Africas economy often occurs at nature s expense. Mining, fracking, expansion of living areas and big game hunting all benefit the economy. Unfortunately, each have detrimental effects on the land and animals.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In order to effectively combat these issues, leaders must implement new courses of action that involve fundraising and awareness through the use of rhetorical sensitivity. According to Lloyd F. Bitzer, associate professor of speech at the University of Wisconsin, a rhetorical situation arises when a circumstance requires the attention of an audience. The audience must overcome obstacles to achieve a certain goal set forth by the leader utilizing rhetorical discourse (Bitzer 9). Fundraising provides one way for South African eco tourism companies to maintain their business and promote more jobs for local people. In order for fundraising to yield the best results, leaders must be aware that there is no reason to apologize for asking for a gift to a worthwhile cause (Rosso 6). Essentially, leaders must have confidence in their cause, whether it includes the preservation of South Africa s wildlife, the protection of its animals, or the promotion of employment among members of the community. This positive attitude encourages tourists to donate more money or time to the companies, aiding in achieving the goal s fulfillment. Rhetorically sensitive fund raisers may present the exigence and constraints to their audience. In the case of ecotourism, the audience consists of foreign tourists who bring new money to circulate throughout the struggling South African communities. If leaders do not make a convincing ... The anti semites shall be our best friends Theodor Herzl diary. Theodor Herzl impacted the Arab Israeli conflict by his organization called Zionism. Herzl was born in Hungary in May 2,1860. Herzl talked about how Jews needed a nation or a land of their own which jews could express their culture and practice their religion without interruption. • 6. Functional Training Vs Physical Therapy Functional Training People who practice functional training or physical therapy use similar techniques to help their clients improve their mobility and physical quality of life. Physical and occupational therapists, chiropractors, athletic trainers, and coaches use functional training exercises that mimic everyday functional movements like pushing, pulling, squatting, walking, and running to improve a person s strength, mobility, stability, and flexibility. These exercises help patients and athletes to reach their goals safely and without causing further harm to an injury. The Purpose of Functional Training Functional training involves bodyweight resistance exercises, free and machine weights, medicine balls, kettlebells, and various other equipment. Exercises are used to mimic the way the body naturally moves thus limiting the potential for injury. WAVELET BASED PROTECTION SCHEME FOR MULTI TERMINAL TRANSMISSION SYSTEM WITH PV AND WIND GENERATION Y Manju Sree1 Ravi kumar Goli2 V.Ramaiah3 Assistant ProfessorProfessor Professor Manju547sree@gmail.com goli.ravikumar@yahoo.com ramaiahvkits@gmail.com 1,2,3 Kakatiya Institute of Technology Science, Warangal Abstract: A hybrid generation is a part of large power system in which number of sources usually attached to a power electronic converter and loads are clustered can operate independent of the main power system. The protection scheme is crucial against faults based on traditional over current protection since there are adequate problems due to fault currents in the mode of operation. This paper adopts a new approach for detection, discrimination of the faults for multi terminal transmission line protection in presence of hybrid generation. Transient current based protection scheme is developed with discrete wavelet transform. Fault indices of all phase currents at all terminals are obtained by analyzing the detail coefficients of current signals using bior 1.5 mother wavelet. This scheme is tested for different types of faults and is found effective for detection and discrimination of fault with various fault inception angle and fault impedance. The four stages of insect life start when the mealworm egg is laid in the soil anywhere from a couple of days to a couple of months. After it hatches it sheds its exoskeleton, causing them to be a light brown color. The mealworms favorite meal are grains, like oatmeal and cornmeal. Once they have eaten enough, usually a week or two later, they develop their hard outer shell. Mealworms are attracted to moist and dark places, like household food items. Because they are cheap and easy to reproduce, mealworms are a perfect way to feed animals or yourself. The mealworms stay in the egg phase of life for one to two weeks. Then they stay in the larva stage for one to three months, which is perfect for feedings. They stay in the pupa stage for ten to twenty days. After the pupa stage, they are adults and are ready to produce. It is simply, fast, and cheap to raise mealworms. Mealworms are often used in science, especially in labs or experiments. Some experiments they are involved in are light versus dark, diet tests, and life cycles. Examining the mealworms life style shows the four stages of life in a manageable amount of time. Overall, mealworms are valuable in every sense of the way. They can be used in science, as protein, meal replace, and also as a pest. Another bug used in science is the roly poly bug. Roly poly bugs are interesting bugs because of their body has its own set of amor. Whenever the bug suspects prey, it uses its armor to roll into a ball. The armor appears like a dark and in layers, this allows the perfect ball shape when it tries to protect itself. Roly poly bugs have a dark brown/ grayish color about them. (750 words) In this essay I will reflect upon how social factors such as gender and family life have influenced my position in Australian society. At the age of 13 my parents decided that I was old enough to catch the train into the city. When my brother reached this age my parents were more reluctant in allowing him the same privilege, according to them I was more mature so they trusted that I would be responsible. However, this opinion differed to other things we did when growing up such as going to parties and going out at nigh. My parents were hesitant and were always reluctant to let me go especially when I first started asking. At parties I was sent off with... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... When I started going out with friends at night my parents were never comfortable unless they knew I was with a big group and that my male friends would also be there. Again, this differs from my brother s experience. This change in my parent s attitude towards my brother and myself demonstrate how gender plays such a strong role in how individuals are treated. These examples explore how two people can be in the same situation but are treated differently purely because one is female and one is male. • 11. Crooked Nose Research Paper Crooked Nose There are two procedures which are usually involved in the correction of a crooked nose. These procedures include septoplasty, which is performed to improve or alleviate an airway obstruction, and rhinoplasty, which is done to improve the external appearance of the nose. These two procedures may be done individually, or together, depending on the needs and desires of the patient. Then the physician can, if necessary, surgically realign the nasal septum to improve the air flow, and, if desired by the patient also improve the cosmetic appearance of the nose. The surgery, which may take anywhere from one to three hours, is usually performed on an outpatient basis under local or general anesthesia. A small splint will be attached to the outside of the nose and should be worn for approximately one week. The final appearance of the nose is not apparent for six to twelve months because normal healing takes place gradually. The researcher(s) found that violence does have an affect on in groups/out group divisions. The researcher(s) found that violence is shown to increase the division between in groups and out groups when the distinctions are already evident. Additionally, researcher(s) found that local communities that experience more violence were more uncertain of people outside their local communities. I think that this manuscript should be rejected because although the researcher(s) is missing a major true experiment component, there is not a good argument for causation over correlation, and the paper does not address the reliability and validity. The experiment used in this manuscript is very well put together and thoroughly explained. The researcher(s) gives a very detailed account of the experiment, as they should incase other researchers want to recreate the experiment. It is important that other researchers are able to recreate the experiment because it shows reliability. However I would recommend this paper for rejection because the experiment is lacking a control group. • 14. Underlying Neurobiological Processes It has been agreed in the literature that memories can generally be defined in terms of time (Nader, Schafe LeDoux, 2000). Memory is sensitive to disruption soon after learning as it is in a labile state of short term memory (STM). Conversely, memory enters a stable form and is less sensitive to such disruptions in long term memory(LTM) at a later stage after learning (Nader et al.). Research has argued that the process in which labile new memories transform into stable long lasting memories is known as consolidation (Nader et al.). After memories are consolidated, they can re enter states of transient instability, making them vulnerable to disruption immediately after retrieval (Yue et al., 2012; Si et al., 2012). This is known as memory reconsolidation (Yue et al.; Si et al.). Finally, the re exposure to a particular context without reinforcement can lead to memory extinction (Merlo Romano, 2008).That is, the temporary weakening of an earlier conditioned response can lead to extinction (Merlo Romano). However, the number of events or duration of a single event in that exposure will determine whether memory extinction or reconsolidation is activated (Merlo Romano). Although learning to fear danger is essential to survival, many anxiety disorders are underpinned by the dysregulation of the fear system (OyarzГєn et al., 2012). Accordingly, much research has been dedicated to developing strategies for supressing fear memories in maladaptive cases (OyarzГєn et al.; ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 15. Main Ideas and Themes of Beowulf Essay Beowulf and Sir Gawain have many things in common. We will be discussing them later on, but their main similarity is that they re both heroes. A hero is a person who must pass through a test and a battle (mental, spiritual or physical) to help someone else. He must be selfless, and act for others rather than himself. All societies have supported heroes, like the ancient Greek s Hercules and the modern day Spiderman. These are hero stereotypes, with supernatural powers. Heroes don t have to be stereotypes, but can be firemen, policemen or soldiers. Two famous heroes in ancient literature are Beowulfand Sir Gawain. Beowulf s test is to defeat the evil creature Grendel, protecting his hall and soldiers. Sir Gawain s test is to resist temptation to steal a magic belt, and steal the master s wife! In the end, both succeeded, Grendel was killed, and sir Gawain received his blow, and stayed alive, but both had consequences. Beowulf s friends got killed, and later on Grendel s mother attacks him, and sir Gawain had been given a cut to his neck, and lost his honor. The test the heroes have to face, is often put up by a villain, and both have their fair share of villains. In Beowulf the enemy is a dark monster, which eats human and has super strength, enough to bend iron. In Sir Gawain, the apparent villain is the green knight, who challenges sir Gawain to a grueling beheading contest . After it s head falls off, he is not harmed, so he has some weird magical qualities. Both have supernatural powers and striking appearances, but the difference is that in sir Gawain and the green knight, the green knight is just the master of the kingdom in disguise, testing the nobility of King Arthur s knights, and not a mortal enemy. In this paper I will discuss what are the similarities and differences in the case study should you build strategy like you build software? and the book? And, advantages and disadvantages of specific strategies mentioned in both the book and the case study. The case study focuses on the importance of developing strategies that are newer, faster and more effective strategy making processes. The case study compares how software developers invented new development processes, such as rapid application development, extreme programming and agile software development, to confront the new realities, where many strategists in various companies uses traditional approaches that are not as effective as the strategies used by software developers. The case study emphasizes on the importance of updating and changing strategies so companies can run a smooth operation. The case study has only focused on one form of strategy which is Adaptive Approach to Strategy Development, The Spiral Model as the best and most effective strategy. The book mentions various forms of strategies in details. Also, it emphasizes on the importance of choosing the right strategy in order for a company to succeed as we have seen the case study, In chapter six we can see the importance of competitive advantage, steps involved in strategy making process, types of corporate level strategies, various types of industrial strategies and components of firm level strategies. People just don t seem to want to waste their precious free time staring at words on a piece of paper, but would rather stare at moving pictures on a screen. Obviously this is a problem, as Florida s FCAT scoresare less then perfect when compared to the scores of the rest of the nation. Something needs to be done to get Florida reading. Third grade is the last year of education that students are taught to read. In 2002, forty two percent to third graders in Polk County failed the reading portion of the FCAT. This very clearly shows that most of Florida s, or at least Polk County s reading problems begin in elementary school. The blame for this can go to schools that have sub par reading programs. It can alternatively be attributed to parents who don t take the time to read with their children or hire tutors to help them when they need it. Most likely both are at blame, but only the schools seem to be putting forth an effort for changes. Florida s parents need to understand that they are very capable of teaching their children to read. Summer reading programs can help students struggling with literacy tremendously. When students read over the summer they keep their reading skills sharp instead of having to relearn them as soon as school starts again in the fall, which can be a big hindrance on their studies. The summer is also prime time for parents to hire tutors when their services are needed. Some teenagers will even tutor for free in the interest of obtaining service hours for scholarships. Parents should also make time over the summer to help their children themselves if they are having problems with reading. In the film, the story takes place on a small private island off of Washington where Nicholas Cage s character, Edward Malus, is looking for his daughter who had vanished. It is filled with twists and turns throughout the film, making it interesting and entertaining. I felt as if the film was well made and had a different storyboard compared to traditional thriller mysteries. Edward Malus, a police man in Washington, has been experiencing strange dreams and hallucinations since a car crash occurred after he had pulled a woman and her daughter over. He later receives a letter from his ex fiancГ©, Willow, telling him that her daughter, Rowan, (later finding she was his child) has gone missing and asks him for his help to find her. The Comparison of Themes between Lord of the Flies and Animal Farm The author of Animal Farm, Orwell, tells a story of a farmyard tragedy and the deadly lives of a group of animals. Due to the disappearance of humans, Napoleon abuses his power and gradually transforms into a human. Orwell also used animals to clarify that humans are corrupted due to power. The author of Lord of the Flies, Golding, shows a similar story where it is about life and death situation for a group of lost boys on a island that is trying to establish a democracy while on the island. When they continue to enjoy torturing others, they reveal their enjoyment of being savages. They do not desire any order or law of directing force in their state of savagery. In Animal Farm, George Orwell uses satirical allegory throughout his novel to present the pessimistic view of human nature. The animal fable is used to demonstrate the issues of unfair treatment, exploitation and inequality in society. It is evident that this irony is particularly evident in the ending of both novels (Gulbin 88). The satirist irony is directed on the events of the Russian Revolution and on the totalitarian regime. Orwell uses political reason with creative reason to show his negative belief that people only change the dictators though revolutions but the systems stay the same. It is only a dream that people can gain a classless society through revolutions. Orwell believes that everyone wants equality, yet it is in one s nature as human beings to obtain power. Napoleon, who is represented as an evil power hungry pig, becomes the villain that destroys the farm through his manipulative acts such as abusing the animals, cutting rations, increasing labor, and in the end making an imbalance of equality. Catcher In The Rye Phoniness Analysis Phoniness in The Catcher in the Rye While phoniness and loss of innocence are unavoidable parts of life, Holden Caulfield, in The Catcher in the Rye, cannot seem to accept it which leads him to depression and mental instability. Holden is easily aggravated by any impression of phoniness and he realizes that all adults exhibit pretentious qualities. As a result, he tries to protect all children, the only innocent beings in his life, from being exposed to phoniness. However, growing up and losing innocence are not preventable, thus causing him to exhaust himself through his useless efforts. Holden s dislike towards phoniness and hypocrisy in the adult world leads him to try and protect the innocence in younger generations and ultimately leaves him disappointed in his inevitable failure to do so. Holden often addresses his hostility toward phoniness in the adult world because he does not understand why adults find the need to misrepresent themselves or their feelings. At his old school, Elkton Hills, he observed that the headmaster went around shaking hands with everybody s parents [...] except if some boy had little old funny looking parents (17). He could not tolerate seeing people act this way and left the school. However, he is faced with phoniness at his new school, Pencey, as well. With the development of the first European guns in the fourteenth century, armies were given use of a weapon which was to radically alter most of the ways of making war which had been established during the Middle Ages, and changes began to be seen within only a few years. It is, however, questionable whether the nature of these early changes constituted a revolution in the methods of war, and even more so whether guns had by 1500 made a great deal of impact on the character of war as it had existed in 1300. The use of the counterweight trГ©buchet, which had been in existence in Roman times, failed to decline until the 1380s and was still listed as an active weapon in some French arms inventories until the 1460s. This shows the gradual nature of the introduction of gunpowder artillery (perhaps caused by shortages of materials for the cannons or unwillingness to invest in them when a prince already owned trГ©buchets), but there was little doubt that guns were becoming by far the better siege weapons. Their importance gave rise to a kind of arms race in France in particular, with cities in the contested areas of the Hundred Years War assigning the acquisition of guns a high priority. This chivalrous act is derided in Monty Python and the Holy Grail when King Arthur confronts the Black Knight blocking the path to the bridge. King Arthur insists on crossing the bridge instead of going around, forcing a confrontation between the Arthur and the Black Knight. Arthur shows no mercy in the battle and cuts the Black Knight s limbs off, one by one. This demonstrates satire because as the Black Knights limbs are being cut off, King Arthur continues to slice at him, displaying an exaggeration of showing no mercy. The Black Knight persists against Arthur, also mocking how one must never recoil before the enemy, even if one s limbs are removed. In Le Morte d Arthur, King Arthur is merciless against Modred, his bastard son whom attempts to take over King Arthur s kingdom, and pierces Modred with a spear. This instance is an example of chivalry because King Arthur does not hesitate to kill his own son nor does he display clemency. Modred as a response does not recoil, which is also is in the code of conduct of chivalry. When a knight faces the enemy, he should never flinch or shy away because of fear. This aspect of chivalry is parodied in Monty Python and the Holy Grail when King Arthur and his knights brawled with the Killer Rabbit of Caerbannog. The Killer Rabbit is an unearthly creature because it leaps incredible lengths and wrenches a knight s head off with one bite. This scene is executed to make the confrontation appear ridiculous to the audience by the otherworldly rabbit decapitating one of King Arthur s praised knights, proving them to be inept in battle. CoreLogic estimates approximately $13 billion in fraud losses occurred in 2012, according to the latest available data in the 2012 Mortgage Fraud Trends Report (Gerding, 2013). While these numbers may seem high, the approximate $13 billion in losses is only a fraction of what it would be if every case were to be prosecuted. Mortgagefraudwas also a major contributing factor towards a national, and nearly global economic collapse in 2008 when the United States economy saw the worst recession it has seen since the great depression. If any other characters make such statement, the reader might take it as an empty threat. Pop culture has bombarded us with the image of the money hungry businessman out to make a profit at whatever cost to his personal life and relationships, not all too far from Jesse Eisenberg s portrayal of Facebook founder Mark Zuckerburg in 2010 s Social Network. However, having spent the last semester in my first entrepreneurial studies, it is clear that the real entrepreneurs of our society have qualities that go much deeper than a lust for money or fame. Entrepreneurship is defined by Bruce Barringer, of Oklahoma State University, as the process by which individuals pursue opportunities without regard to resources they currently control, and in order to fulfill this role an entrepreneurmust possess the qualities of a leader as have been discussed in our time in Project LEAD thus far. Specifically, they must possess a mix of traits that has come to be known as emotional intelligence. The need for emotional intelligence can be clearly seen when analyzing its key components and how entrepreneurs use them. The first and one of the most important components of emotional intelligence is self awareness. According to Daniel Goleman in his Harvard Business Review article on emotional intelligence, self awareness means having a deep understanding of one s emotions, strengths, weaknesses, needs, and drives, or to put it simply, having an understanding of why you do what you do. ... Instead, what occurred was the super heroine role, where the women s maternity and industrial capital were both valued. He wrote around thirty to forty pages for the script but as soon as the twin brothers returned, his work went to garbage and had the brothers re write the script. Both writers, still worked writing for the film even though some work was not to be used. At the end of the production, the brothers earned $30, 416 and Koch earned $4, 200. After shooting at been completed, Wallis called Bogard into set for the final line he had written as he thought the ending was not done properly. The line Wallis had written Louis, I think this is the beginning of a beautiful friendship, made the ending of the film have a lot more sense. In spite of having many writers, one writer describes the script as a wonderfully unified and consistent script. The film ran into some trouble with Joseph Breen of the Production Code Administration due to having sexual scenes and vulgar language in the film. When they came across any sexual scenes or vulgar words, they would remove it as quick as possible or change some parts ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Composites In Oil Industry COMPOSITES IN OIL AND GAS INDUSTRY Composite materials are multiphase materials obtained through the artificial combination of different materials in order to attain properties that the individual components by themselves cannot attain. They are not multiphase materials in which the different phases are formed naturally by reactions, phase transformations, or other phenomena. An example is carbon fiber reinforced polymer. Composite materials should be distinguished from alloys, which can comprise two more components but are formed naturally through processes such as casting. Composite materials can be tailored for various properties by appropriately choosing their components, their proportions, their distributions, their morphologies, their degrees of crystallinity, their crystallographic textures, as well as the structure and composition of the interface between components. Due to this strong tailor ability, composite materials can be designed to satisfy the needs of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Due to the use of them, mass of construction is reduced up to 80%. Composites are already greatly used for the production of pipe systems for fluid transport, pressure vessels, drill pipes and their couplings, tanks for fluid storage, risers, pipes for coiled drilling installations, partitions on platforms for the protection against fire etc. Basic advantages of the use of composite materials when compared to conventional material which is steel, are reduction of mass of primary and secondary constructions, introduction of new technologies (for example installation of conducting infrastructures into drill pipes), better physical and chemical characteristics (corrosion resistance, buckling strength), longer life time of the construction (for example within 25 years carbon fibers lose 2 10% of initial strength), easy installation of the construction, higher safety at work, and minimum ... • 54. The Economic Development Of Kenya Kenya is the regional leader in East Africa and this position is expected to be a constant over time. The economy is fairly diversified with a strong and well developed services sector. The financial services industry in particular is well developed and established, moreso the country is considered East and Central Africas hub for financial services. Kenya is also the preferred entry point for companies wishing to expand further in the region. Moreover, East Africa s largest economy is one of the most innovative on the African continent, which bodes well for future economic development. The country is a key investor within the East African commmunity, while the largest chunk of intraregional trade is due to Kenya. However, economic ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The country has been able to take advantage of the region s positive prospects and should continue to do so in coming years. The country has good prospects for economic growth and foreign direct investment (FDI), import cover levels are comfortable, and political risk is relatively low. Tanzania s notable economic expansion in recent years has been facilitated by open market policies related to global commerce. The financial sector and the investment framework are relatively well developed for the region. However, these strengths are offset by weak socioeconomic indicators, structurally large current account and budgetdeficits, and rising debt levels. Growth in the agricultural sector has been driven by increased production of major food crops such as maize, sorghum and cassava, but the sector s performance remains below potential. In turn, the services and industrial sectors have shown strong growth. The nascent banking sector and expanding telecommunications sector are key drivers behind services growth, while construction, electricity generation, manufacturing and mining are salient sub sectors in industrial activity. Looking ahead, the banking and telecommunication sectors will continue to support services growth, while increased electricity generation capacity will benefit the expansion of the manufacturing ... Welter Weight of Plant Growing Welter Weight of plant growing: Water VS other liquids Purpose of Project The purpose of this project is to see if there is a difference in how plants grow based on what they are watered with. By watering five different plants with five different liquids and measuring them daily we will prove or disprove the hypothesis. Problem of the Project Different liquids contain different additives and nutrients that could potentially affect the growth of a plant. This project will reveal how different liquids affect the growth of plants. Various research has been done that will support the problem of what liquid can stimulate the growth of a plant more successfully. By measuring each plant after watering them with the six liquids, the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The water container had the most growth and produced two plants one on day 7 and one on day 8 which indicated both seeds had germinated. Each plant produced one leaf (both on day 10). The leaves were light green in color and had a firm texture. The milk container was the only other container that had any growth at all. On day 11, one sprout appeared and curled up from the soil; however, the stem never emerged and by day 13, it had died. No other pot produced a plant. Processed Data: Data Analysis: Given the information, the only liquid good for the bean seeds was the water. Plant growth day 11 The major result of this experiment was that water was the only liquid that would produce a bean plant. Milk did germinate a seed, but was unable to support the growth of the plant. No other liquids used in the experiment produced a bean sprout. Research Conclusion: In the hypothesis, the purpose of the experiment was to discover a liquid that provided the best plant growth. When the experiment started, it was hypothesized there would ...
