Examples Of A Thesis Statement In An Essay
Writing an essay on the topic "Examples of a Thesis Statement in an Essay" can be both
challenging and rewarding. Crafting a thesis statement is a crucial aspect of essay writing, as it
serves as the central idea around which the entire essay revolves. The difficulty lies in
articulating a concise and impactful thesis statement that not only conveys the main point but
also sets the tone for the rest of the essay.
To begin with, one must possess a deep understanding of the subject matter and the specific
requirements of the essay. It requires careful analysis and critical thinking to identify a clear and
arguable stance that can be effectively supported throughout the essay. The process involves
brainstorming, researching, and evaluating different perspectives before settling on a thesis
statement that is both compelling and well-supported.
Furthermore, the challenge extends to the ability to provide relevant and convincing examples to
strengthen the thesis statement. Finding appropriate examples that align with the main argument
requires thorough research and a keen eye for detail. It's essential to choose examples that not
only support the thesis but also contribute to a cohesive and persuasive essay.
Moreover, the difficulty lies in the art of balancing specificity and generality. The thesis
statement should be specific enough to guide the essay's focus, yet broad enough to allow for a
comprehensive exploration of the topic. Achieving this balance requires careful consideration and
precision in language.
In conclusion, writing an essay on the topic of "Examples of a Thesis Statement in an Essay"
demands a combination of skills, including critical thinking, research, and effective
communication. It is a process that challenges writers to articulate a clear and compelling thesis
statement while providing well-chosen examples to support their argument. However, with
dedication and the right approach, one can successfully navigate the complexities of essay
writing on this topic.

Mobile targets the 14 to 24 year olds market. The case lays out three pricing
options. Which option would you choose and why? I would go for option number
two for several reasons. The first one is that I think offer number one is not
sufficiently different from the rest of the market. The price positioning is the same
and we only get better off peak hours, supposedly fewer hidden fees and

It feels like an inquisition for the customer, affecting in a very bad way the
purchasing experience. The buckets of minutes might have been a confusing
notion at first, however everybody understands what it is now. The industry had to
find a common standard to compare the offers and that is what buckets help doing.
I think the buckets are visual and graphically clear enough to make the offers more
attractive and easy to comprehend. The hidden fees are a true enemy to the
consumer experience! Even when you think you have understood everything, there
are extras coming out of nowhere spoiling the whole experience. That is part of the
reason why we always feel like the phone operators are cheating on us. Regarding
the on peak/off peak distinction, I think it is a powerful argument. Most people
understand what it is and the fact that we can have unlimited time on off peak hours
is a must have for every operator today. Just like with the buckets, it might add a
complexity at first, but it is something that the customer has understood and
therefore we speak the same vocabulary. The big problem that ruins the consumer
experience is the addition of these variables. Indeed, you need to compare all of
them between different carriers to find the better deal. I would also add to these
variables the price of the actual mobile phone with the

innocent creature now has been shocked with electric prods, had its throat cut, and
has bled out to death. Pigs are not the only creatures to suffer such a despicable
death. Animals like sheep, cows, chickens, and goats are slaughtered for their meat.
The animalsare all butchered in a place called a slaughterhouse. Slaughterhouses are
horrible places where humans believe they have the right to treat animals any way
they want as long as they get the meat they need. People who eat meat need to
understand what happens to an animal before it winds up on a plate.Animals can not
defend themselves against humans. Therefore, someone else must defend the
animals. Slaughterhouses must be stopped.
Slaughterhouses are the cheapest ways for humans to get meat. Rather than paying
large sums of money to put the animals down humanely, they are just murdered.
Animals are separated in slaughterhouses from their families after being with them
for weeks. Imagine one never getting to know his mother, then being ripped away

Informative Essay On Olympics
In the following paragraphs, I will explain to you what Alpine Skiing Team Event
is, and how it came to the Olympics. Alpine Skiing Team Event is a new sport in the
Olympics. This is the first year that they are going to feature this sport. Although
this is its first year in the Olympics it is not a completely unknown sport. This sport
has been in the World Championships since 2005, then in 2011, they added Parallel
Alpine Skiing Team Event to the World Championship. To summarize, although this
sport has never seen an Olympic audience, it will be one event you won t want to
miss. First of all, the team consists of four athletes, two men and, two women.
During the competition its country versus country. One woman/man at a time going
head to head with their components. Whoever completes the course is awarded one
point. There are four heats, each person on the team goes once. If your component
falls or goes off course and you sail ahead, you are the automatic winner of that heat
and given one point. Whoever gets the most points goes on in the competition. Like
most sports, the winners stay in the competition and keep competing to get to the
top. Before the competition starts, you have to do a practice run, to make sure the
course is safe and ready to go. They skier can reach up to seventy miles per hour in

Many athletes say that they spend nearly two to five hours a day of ski training.
That is a very long time to be constantly on the slopes. Competitors in this
competition usually train six out of the seven days of the week. They only have one
off day which consists of relaxing to repair muscles. Some the techniques they use
instead of actually skiing on the slopes are pretty fascinating. On days they don t hit
the slope, they do agility drills to help with speed and coordination. They also do
dryland skiing. It sounds weird but it actually helps them with their technique on the
Queen Eleanor Of Aquitaine Research Paper
It was said of Eleanor of Aquitaine She was beautiful and just, imposing and modest,
humble and elegant, who surpassed almost all the queens of the world. However,
Queen Eleanor was known to be the Grandmother of Europe, she had many children
who became kings and queens. In the 12th century women were supposed to be quiet
and unnoticeable, but Queen Eleanor never let that stop her from ruling France,
England, Aquitaine, and the Count of Politiers, and of course ruling over the most
powerful men of the time. Eleanor of Aquitainewas Williams, Duke of Aquitaine,

Although Richard was gone for five years, it was partly because he was captured
by the Duke of Austria when he was headed back to England. His mother, Queen
Eleanor had to pay for his son to come back and she escorted all the way home.
During these five years his brother, John Lackland tried to take the throne. In 1199
King Richard died while he was trying to take one of his castles back. Having no
wife or children, his rule was passed down to John. As John became king the rulers
of France were against him so Queen Eleanor sent her granddaughter to marry the
French king s son so there would be peace. In the 1200 Queen Eleanor rode
horseback at 80 years old to fetch her granddaughter, Blancher, as she crossed the
Pyrenees and got her at the court of the French castle. The son of Geoffrey, Arthur
of Brittany, tried to take over the crown, but Eleanor helped John to defend Anjou
and Aquitaine. Two years later Arthur tried another attack, Eleanor still defeated
him as she defended John. However, after all that had happened, she went to the
monastery at Fonteverault to retire as she died in 1204 at 82 years old (Bailey).

Manufacturing Of Lithium Ion Batteries Essay
Globally, 78% of mobile phone users have a smartphone (Close Up Media, Inc,
Deloitte Report: Mobile Consumers Check Phones over 80 Billion Times a Day
Globally. ). Lithium ion batteries, which were introduced by Sony in the early
1990s, are the most common battery to be used in smartphones and other mobile
devices due to their high levels of efficiency, their lightweight design, and their
ability to be recharged (Hock, Power Up ). As a result of worldwide demand for
lithiumion batteries, mobile technology producers, such as Microsoft and Apple, are
dependent on the acquisition of cobalt a key element in the manufacturing of
lithium ion batteries at the lowest price possible. In their quest for low prices, these
companies purchase cobalt from cobalt producers that mine in impoverished areas
which lack workplace regulations that ensure safety and fair treatment of laborers.
One of the preeminent cobalt suppliers in the world is a Chinese company named
Zhejiang Huayou Cobalt, and this firm receives a vast amount of cobalt from a
Congo based subsidiary called Congo DongFang International Mining. A majority of
the world s cobalt, 60%, is mined in the Congo (Frankel, This Is Where Your
Smartphone Battery Begins. ).
One need not look far to see the ethical implications of obtaining cobalt from these
Congolese mines. Many worldwide organizations, for example Amnesty International,
have criticized the practices of these mines. Viewing this issue from the Kantian lens,

Analysis Of Vega V. Sports Bar Grill
Vega Bogeda s employee was probably acting outside the scope of his employment
when he posted the video of Underwood on YouTube.
An employer is liable for the actions of his employee unless they fall outside the
scope of employment. Williams v. Community Drive In Theater, Inc., 520 P.2d
1296, [p. 1297] (Kan. 1974). To fall inside the scope, the employee s actions must
(1) arise naturally from the course of their jobs and (2) intend to further employer s
interest and not done for personal reasons. Daugherty v. Allee s Sports BarGrill, 260
S.W.3d 869, [p. 873] (Mo. Ct. App. 2008).

The employee filmed Underwood within the scope of his employment, but posting
was outside the scope. The plaintiff alleges invasion of privacy and damage to
reputation, but the harms of both claims come from the act of sharing the video with
others. Had the employee not shared the video, the plaintiff probably would have no
case for damage to her reputation as the events would have stayed between the two
parties. Instead, he posted the video. Posting, rather than filming, caused the plaintiff
harm.
It is clear the employee acted within the scope while filming. As a service worker
who often closes the store, an employee should have experience with difficult
customers late at night. As such, the situation fell within the normal course of his
duties. The worker s main goal was not a personal motive, but to close the store. He
thought filming the plaintiff would incentive her to leave.
Posting falls outside the scope of employment for a few reasons. First, he posted the
video to his personal account for the purposes of entertaining online viewers. He also
knew that Vega did not approve of him being on YouTube during work hours, but did
so anyway. Finally, Vega noted embarrassing customers did not benefit the business,
but might ease personal annoyances to the worker, meaning the video helped the
posting employee to the detriment his employer.
There are a couple of counterarguments to this interpretation. First, using Daugherty,
one might
Born Into Brothels Ethical Analysis
The ethical considerations in Born Into Brothels are chiefly based on the commonly
supported concept of humanitarianism in the western society, of which resembles
the unwanted pity to the East by the West. Born into Brothels seems to be a
representation of how the westerners prefer to view the Third World Poverty. At
several points in the film, Sonagachi is portrayed as an exotic, foreign land that is
extremely different from the civilized and disciplined western society. Although the
film received an Academy Award, it faces the voices of disapproval and an ongoing
debate on its possible violation of ethics. The fact that Zana worked on her own,

An Example Of Anxiety Disorder
Anxiety disorders
What is a anxiety disorder? Anxiety disorder is any of several disorders that are
characterized by a feeling of fear, dread, or apprehension that arises without a clear
or appropriate cause. Some examples of anxiety disorders are generalized anxiety
disorder, obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD), Post traumatic disorder (PTSD) and
many more. What causes an anxiety disorder? Anxiety disorders may develop from a
complex set of risk factors, including genetics, brain chemistry, personality, and life
events. Many people think having an anxiety disorder isn t a big deal but in actuality
anxiety is much more than the basic nerves.
Anyone could have an anxiety disorder, Anxiety disorders are the most common
mental illness in the U.S., affecting 40 million adults in the United States age 18
and older. Having anxiety can be treated but majority of the people who has anxiety
tend to not get treatment because they might have the fear of getting judged on the
way they feel or the way others may think about them. People who have an anxiety
disorder could have developed the anxiety disorder from a complex set of risk factors,
including genetics, brain chemistry, personality, and life events.
Some signs and symptoms of someone who might have an anxiety disorder can be
Restlessness or feeling wound up or on edge, Being easily fatigued, Difficulty
concentrating or having their minds go blank and many more signs and symptoms a
person could show. Examples of different anxiety disorders could be obsessive
compulsive disorder (OCD), panic disorder, social anxiety disorder and many more.
Obsessive compulsive disorder is a mental disorder in which people have unwanted
and repeated thoughts, feelings, ideas, sensations (obsessions), and behaviors that
drive them to do something over and over (compulsions). Some symptoms or signs
if a person who might have OCD can be repeated unwanted ideas, fear of
contamination, thoughts of they might harm someone and etc. Another example of
an anxiety disorder is panic disorder. Panic disorder is diagnosed in people who
experience spontaneous seemingly out of the blue panic attacks and are very
preoccupied with the fear of a recurring attack. Symptoms of a Panic disorder are
The Theory Of Robert Pickton As A Serial Killer
First, the theory chosen for the social science discipline, psychology is
psychosocial. The focus of the theory is how Robert Pickton became a serial killer
due to the environment he grew up in and relationships. Pickton s parents ran a
meat business in Port Coquitlam and Pickton alongside his brother helped them.
Pickton s mother was tough and had the children work on a strict schedule. In
addition, Pickton s father had very little influence in his life, but his mother can be
the key influence in why he murders women. Pickton was close to his mother and
she also was a major authority figure in his life. Consequently, Pickton could have
grown a hatred towards women due to his mother and is the reason he targets
women. Enough hatred to ensure his victims suffer by raping and killing them
Also, due to his mother making him work hard on the farm he had little to no
childhood. Pickton did raise a calf and was very close to it, however, the calf was
slaughtered. As a result, Pickton never forgot it and also said from CBC News, the
incident made him realize life was fleeting. Additionally, Pickton is used to seeing
things being killed and dying because he saw many animals being slaughtered when
he was young. Death in his eyes has been normalized and is not an unusual
occurrence. This is a key reason Pickton does not feel remorse for the killing of his
victims because it is normal to him. Furthermore, Pickton was quiet and socially
awkward, sometimes exhibiting unusual behaviour.
The Jewish Exodus From Ancient Egypt
I. Introduction
I am investigating the Jewish Exodus from ancient Egypt, which reportedly took
place around the 13th Century BC. I was raised in a Jewish household, and
growing up Passover has always been one of my favorite holidays. I had so much
fun searching for the Afikomen, welcoming Elijah to our Seder table, and above
all, retelling the story of how the Jews were freed from slavery and escaped the
wrath of the Pharaoh thanks to the guidance of God. It s a magical story which has
inspired hope in me for years, and that s why I was so surprised when I learned that
there is little if no physical evidence for the exodus. The archaeological record
should have physical evidence of such a major event, perhaps hidden so deeply that

Or the cities where the Jews were enslaved, forced to build a city for the Pharaoh
for around 400 years. Surely so much time and activity will leave artifacts which
can tell us what happened. Therefore my plan is to survey and excavate in these
important sites, and I will also confer with Egyptologists to decipher hieroglyphics.
Perhaps the Egyptians of the time recorded clues which can tell us what happened,
or at least help us to piece together the story. This research will have an important
religious impact as well as tell us a lot about the history of this time period. The
modern day Jewish people will appreciate the findings, even if the conclusion is
that the famous exodus never really took place. But if it did, then it will shed a lot
of light on the events that took place. For example if the Red Sea really did split,
then scientists will be forced to hypothesize and debate how this could have been
possible.
III. Background Research
The story of the Exodus as described in the Torah is as follows: In the 13th century
B.C. (archaeologists estimate that this is the correct date), the Hebrews were
enslaved in Egypt and had been for around 400 years. They were desperate for
liberation and prayed to their God for a deliverer to rescue them and bring them to
the land that God had promised their ancestors (modern day Israel). Their population
became so great that the pharaoh ordered for every newborn Hebrew boy to be fed to

When I was come to the last part of the process, finds a phone plan and sign the

Essay on An Unspoiled Place in Annie Dillard s In the Jungle
We are living in a colorful world. There are many different people live with different
cultures. But, what makes so many differences in our world? According to the story
of In the Jungle and my personal experiences, our lives are affected by living
condition, natural resources and social environment around us. In the story of In the
Jungle, Author Annie Dillardgoes to the Napo River, which is the heart of the
Ecuadorian Jungle and it is also the most unspoiled place. She describes the natural
living style of the people who live there. As she tells us is the story that The cold

And the people who live nearby river will diet themselves on fish. So those crops and
fishes become the staple for them. Besides that, human civilization s progress could
not be without natural resource. People will fight for natural resource because of that
and that is also the reason that why there are so many wars in the world. Now, oil is
the one of most important natural resource in the world. That made those people
who live in Middle East very rich and there are many wars happened in there also.
Another main effecting of people s life is from the social environment. Annie
describes the people who live in the Ecuadorian Jungle are fill with happiness. That
is showed in the text that As the children became excited by their own singing,
they left their log benches and swarmed around the nuns, hopping, smiling at us,
everyone smiling, the nuns faces bursting in their cowls, and the clear voiced
children still singing, and the palm leafed roofing stirred. Unspoiled natural
surroundings and ample natural resource make their graceful and placid society.
However, what if they are living in a dangerous and wicked society, what kinds of
people would they be? The social environment could decide what kind of people
you would be. There is an old Chinese allegory about how important the social
environment is for a person. Mencius is a very marvelous person in China. He was
very clever when he was young. But they were living close

The Dominance of Gothic Architecture in The High Middle
Ages
When one sees the Notre Dame de Paris cathedral in person or in pictures they are
likely to be awestruck. The twin towers of the western façade rise high into the
sky, seemingly in an attempt to scrape heaven. Spiky arches seem to grow out of the
sides and claw at the ground. Inside it is cavernous with colored light filtering in
through the large, intricate stained glass windows. All of these physical qualities
make Notre Dame a prime example of Gothic architecture. It does not stand alone in
that distinction. One is also likely to see several hundred examples of this style on
varying scales throughout Europe. Because, despite its humble origins, Gothic
architecture became the standard for religious buildings in the early 11th... Show

As town lords and bishops (the same man often held both positions) stamped out the
lawlessness that marked Europe in earlier centuries, members of the upper class felt
safe enough to embark on pilgrimages (59). Suger, with his unknown architect, had a
daring plan to build upward and outward and incorporate existing architectural
principles with new building theories. It is the combination of all these qualities that
is important in the stylistic evaluation of the interior of Saint Denis as the first work
of the Early Gothic style (Frankl 67).
Suger s most pressing need was space. To create that space his goal was to
eliminate walls in his monastery where possible. Starting in 1140, Suger opened
up a vast amount of room by using pointed arches and ribbed vaults. These
techniques in themselves were not new or unique. St. Denis didn t mark the debut
of either feature; the ribbed vault shows up in a few earlier European churches, and
the pointed arch is widespread in Islamic architecture (Columbia 1). However,
Suger was the first to combine all of those qualities with a new and daring element:
light. This was a direct result of his implementation of the ribbed vaults and pointed
arches which eliminated walls and opened up wide sweeps of interior space and
allowed for thinner walls that could frame massive stained glass windows (Gilgoff
59). Suger often spoke reverently of the
Pros And Methods Of The Nursing Process
The Nursing process is a scientific method used by nurses to ensure the quality of
patient care. Broken down into five separate steps; assessing; diagnosing, planning,
implementing, and evaluating all nurses must be familiar with the nursing process.
Nonetheless a student name Amy wants to improve her grades. She had learned
about using the nursing process during class a couple of days ago and if it works
for planning patient care, why can it not work for her? Though we won t go
through all the nursing process steps, we will apply some of those steps to help Amy
create a successful study plan to pass her classes.
In the first step of the nursing process; assessment, the nurse gathers information
about a patient. Amy can gather data on her study habits by figuring out what type of
learner she is to incorporate that learning style into her study habits, assessing her
current grades and keeping records, and testing her knowledge to see what she current
knows. The first most important thing that Amy can assess is how she learns. Is
she an auditory, visual or kinetics learning? Once Amy is able to establish which
learning method works better for her, she can incorporate that learning method to
study successfully. Amy assessing her grades can give her a better understand
where her GPA currently stands. Is it low enough that even if she studies, she still
won t pass? Is her GPA high enough to when she does studies she ll get an A ? All of
these have to be considered. Also keeping

world. I soon realized that I was stuck on the ground. Later on I got the chance to
go flying at the Ogden Hinckley airport. Instantly I was addicted to the feeling of
flying. I wanted to know everything about it. I wanted to know how the Wright
brothers had had this passion for something that was thought to be impossible. The
purpose of this essay is to find out who the Wright brothers were, and how they
became famous. Lets start with who they were. The older brother was Wilbur. He
was born in Milville, Indiana on April 16 1867. The younger brother was Orville.
He was born in Dayton, Ohio on August 19, 1871. Neither of them graduated from
high school. They enjoyed working as bicycle retailers and manufacturers. This
played a large role in paving their road to inventing the first successful airplane.
They owned their own bike shop in Dayton, Ohio. Thanks to the bicycle business
booming at the time they were able to have funds for learning about and building
planes. They had great mechanical skills they learned from working on bikes. (The
road to the first flight). Their work influenced their belief that an unstable vehicle
like a flying machine could be controlled and balanced with practice. They often used
the shop to build and experiment on planes. These two brothers shared a passion for
learning about planes. The Wright Brothers read everything they could on the subject.

Frederic Bastiat Essay
Frederic Bastiat (1801 1850) was a French classical economist, statesman, and
author. He did most of his writing during the years before and after the Revolution
of February 1848. This was the period when France was rapidly turning to
complete socialism. As a Deputy to the Legislative Assembly, Mr. Bastiat was
studying and explaining each socialist fallacy as it appeared. And he explained how
socialism must inevitably degenerate into communism. But most of his countrymen
chose to ignore his logic. The fight against socialism drained Bastiat s already
fading energy, and by 1850 a mere six years alter his first published article and only
two since his election to the National Assembly he was on his deathbed. But far from

Many philosophers have made important contributions to the discourse on liberty,
Bastiat among them. But Bastiat s greatest contribution is that he took the discourse
out of the ivory tower and made ideas on liberty so clear that even the unlettered can
understand them. Like others, Bastiat recognized the greatest single threat to liberty
is government.
Law, according to Bastiat, is the collective organization of the individual right to
lawful defense (pg. 2). Bastiat starts off saying that the basic gifts man has from
God, it exists only to do what individuals have a right to do: protect their persons,
their liberties and their properties. Bastiat gave the same rationale for government as
did our Founders, saying, Life, liberty and property do not exist because men have
made laws. On the contrary, it is the fact that life, liberty and property existed
beforehand that caused men to make laws in the first place. No finer statements of
natural or God given rights have been made than those found in our Declaration of
Independence and The Law. The law was created to ensure that individuals in
society were allowed to use these gifts. Justice is achieved only when injustice is
absent (pg. 12).When the law is used for more than these three goals, the law
becomes an instrument of injustice. Similar to the use of the law is abused by the
greed and false philanthropy

Essentially, the challenge for Richard is no longer gaining power, but keeping it. It is
this new struggle that, ultimately, redefines his allies and, more importantly, changes
both Richard s personality and the audience s sympathy for him.

He allies himself with Buckingham, who proves to be a valuable right hand man.
Throughout his rise to power, Richard uses his keen ability ( keep [his] friends
close, but [his] enemies closer ) to knock off Clarence and Hastings. As he comes
closer and closer to the throne, it is his mental superiority, confidence, underdog
status and his honest view of his own ugliness that earn him the sympathy of the
audience.
As Richard enters in the beginning of Act Two, Scene Four, he is boasting about
his newfound power and cheered on by trumpets. Without a minute of rest, King
Richard orders the assassination of the two young princes, but Buckingham
hesitates. As Richard himself notes, he must now stop all hopes whose growth
may damage [him]. So, when Buckingham hesitates, Richard immediately
considers him an enemy. Having attained the throne, Richard has reached the
pinnacle of success and must direct his attention to keeping his power in the face
of his enemies. Without pausing, Richard orders Catesby to spread a rumor that
Lady Anne is sick, will probably die and must be confined, implying that he will
have her killed. In fact, his personality actually shifts from poised confidence to
paranoia. Now that Richard is king, he is too vain to acknowledge any of his
supporters, such as Buckingham, who wants to be the earl of Hereford. Richard has
moved from having the audience s sympathy because he was an outsider to losing it
because he won t let anyone near him in a
The Generation Of The New Generation
The unknown future may be frightening, but knowing the Millennials are the next
generation of leaders to change the world should be comforting. Millennials make
up the population of society that was born between 1980 and 2000 and in America
there are more millennials right now than baby boomers more than 80 million
(Simmons Duffit). Just like every new generation, the Millennials have been
endlessly criticized by older generations. They have been called lazy, entitled, self
absorbed, social media crazed, technology addicts, privileged, and so much more.
This generation change has drawn more public attention than ever before, maybe
because of the access to widespread information nowadays or maybe because this
time, it s a bigger deal. Millennials aren t afraid to address this topic because they
believe that they can change the world for the better. They want the judgements in
communities and the criticisms in the workplace to stop. They want society to
realize they are not so different from generations before, they are already
transforming life as we know it, and that they will soon be the next generation of
leaders and nothing can change that. Although Millennials can be perceived in
multiple negative aspects, older generations should be open to the unique potential
that this massive generation has to offer as an opportunity to close the gap of
separation and learn to grow from each other. One of the most common criticism of
Millennials is their tendency to be lazy.

Belinda Placing Blame in Alexander Pope s The Rape of the Lock
I will be examining lines 147 160 of Canto IV in The Rape of the Lock. In this
selection, Belinda speaks in a monologue, apparently regretting past actions that
have caused her the loss of her lock. However, it becomes clear that she is
exaggerating her loss and the preventive measures she could have taken. By citing
radical changes that would have been necessary to prevent the occurrence, she
makes it clear that it is very difficult for a woman to escape men. In this manner, she
is able to lay most of the blame for the rape of the lock on the nature of men rather
than her own vain lifestyle. During her exaggerated monologue, Belinda will refer to
events earlier ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For her, the entire day was a terrible day that will live in infamy forever. In lines
149 150 she says that she would be ten times happier now if she had never even
seen Hampton Court. These first four lines introduce the mood of the passage, with
Belinda implying that she regrets having lived life the way she has. By saying
Hampton Court these Eyes had never seen! (Pope IV. 150) she implies regret at
having spent time at Hampton Court and her actions there. This lock may
symbolize her virginity, which indeed was of great pride and value to women of the
day. Had she known that this opulent lifestyle would lead to the loss of her lock, or
metaphorically, the loss of her virginity through rape, she may have lived a more
modest life.
In lines 150 151 Belinda is no longer solely blaming herself as she goes on to
suggest that she is not completely at fault for what has transpired. She makes the
observation that she is not in any way the first woman to have ever made the mistake
of trusting men. Many other young virgin women before her have also been lured by
the love of the courts, popularity, and the social life only to be betrayed in various
ways. In lines 153 154 she speaks of how she would rather have not been admired
and sought after and instead lived secluded in some distant northern land or island.
This may be implying that she should have lived like religious puritan women. These
women led chaste lives and many lived on the sparsely
The 12 Step Program Alcoholics Anonymous
The 12 step program Alcoholics Anonymous (AA )was born in 1934. Prohibition
had been repealed and a man named Bill Watson drunkenly found his way to
Manhattan Hospital. Bill was known to knock back quite a bit of whiskey every day
and couldn t seem to be able to quit. While he was at Manhattan Hospital he was
given a new and considered experimental treatment for addictionof belladonna, which
is a hallucinogen. Bill in his induced state yelled to God to help free him of
alcohol. He reported seeing a bright light and feeling such serenity that Bill quit
drinking alcohol. He went on to co found Alcoholics Anonymous and based the
principles off the evangelical Oxford Group which believed people were sinners,
but with the help of God and confessing, a person could get on the proper path. AA
was an answer to a huge void the medical world felt at the time in regard to people
who drank heavily. Once alcoholism was named a disease in 1956 by the
American Medical Association (AMA) AA grew and more hospitals sprung up
wards for alcoholics for patients to detox with no other treatment offered. What
someone in a ward for alcholhoics did receive was members showing up to support
their fellow drinker and offering support and invitations to meetings. Thus began the
road to calling alcoholism a disease and the first 12 step program AA. (14) I
disagree with the notion that addiction to alcohol, drugs, sex, eating or other
compulsive behaviors is a medical disease. Gene

My Personal Philosophy Of Nursing
Personal Philosophy of Nursing My philosophy of nursing has developed and
evolved over my career as a nurse from taking care of just the patient to a more
holistic approach that fosters hope and includes caring for the entire family unit
while placing the patient at the center of care. I believe that all people are
important no matter their culture, station, or religious background. Patient care
affects not just the individual patient. It affects everyone around the patient
including the society in which they live. Nurses should practice with compassion,
respect, and dignity while being the patient s advocate and maintaining
competency within their scope of practice. My philosophy has been influenced by
the Quality Care Model, personal values, historical nursing figures, and my
personal experiences with nurses. Even one nurse can make a difference. Personal
Experiences with Nurses At the end of a busy day, my father calls and says that
my mother is very sick. She had been in the hospital for intravenous fluids. I could
tell by his tone of voice that something was gravely wrong. I rushed to the hospital
to find my mother barely able to breathe. Her nurse was racing to control her
breathing while giving her a diuretic. My mother is a very small person and the
nurse had ascertained the fact that she was given too much fluid. She was in fluid
overload. Her nurse had just saved my mother s life. All the while, he was able to
comfort my father and reassure me. He

Essay On Stereotype Threat
The Effects of Stereotype Threat and Self Enhancement on Self Esteem
Stereotypes or widely held and oversimplified beliefs about a person or thing have
both pros and cons and we are all guilty of using them. Although they have made
life easier by helping us quickly navigate the world and have helped us understand
different cultures norms and values they can also turn sour when they undermine a
culture by portraying them in a negative light. Negative stereotypes about African
Americans are an example of this. Today s culture is filled with stereotypes about
African Americans. For instance, according to Welch (2007) In American society, a
prevalent representation of crime is that it is overwhelmingly committed by young
Black men (p. 276). Continuing on, Welch (2007) notes that the image of a young
Black male as a violent and menacing street thug is fueled and perpetuated by
typifications everywhere (p. 276). Such stereotypes can play a major role in how
one views a particular group and if one is part of that in group, how they might view
themselves. Nonetheless, my group chose to focus specifically on stereotype threat.
Stereotype threat is defined as the fear of confirming a negative stereotype about one

Much of the past exploration on stereotype threat has focused on the effects of
stereotype threat on academic performance in African Americans. For example,
research by Aronson and Inzlicht (2004) found that Black participants who were
stereotype vulnerable seemed to have less clear academic self concepts than other
participants. Specifically, they exhibited more numerous and more extreme highs and
lows in their academic self efficacy than Blacks who were not stereotype vulnerable
and than Whites more generally. Blacks with low stereotype vulnerability, in contrast,
had academic efficacy as stable as

Body Image By Jamie Santa Cruz
Society follows a norm that requires a general agreement between groups in order
to function as a whole. Human beings are social group animals (Lessing 1) and
need each other to survive with the intention to get along or fit in. These desires to
conform influence our idea about ourselves (Lessing 1) and people lose a sense of
their inner self based on these insecurities. The false concept of ideal beauty of
body image is displayed in the media and it pressures young women and men to
accept this particular notion of beauty. The role of the media comes into play
because it pressures individuals to give in, since they appeal to our need, which is to
be accepted. Although, people oppose to media pressuring individuals to conform, it

In Body Image Pressure Increasingly Affect Boys, Jamie Santa Cruz shows that the
media harms boys and girls in similar ways. Cruz discusses that boys who were
highly concerned with their weight, about half were worried about gaining more
muscles...major difference between boys and girls when it comes to weight concern:
whereas girls typically want to be thinner, boys are as likely to feel pressure to gain
weight as to lose it (1). This displays that boys feel obligated to look a certain way
like having a 6 pack or looking physically fit due to the influence of media.
Similarly, women want to lose weight because being skinny is considered to be
attractive. Cruz shows that most action figures have a significant proportion of
muscles which displays the improbable body image they set up for young boys (3
4) because of this, boys are falling prey to a distorted image of themselves and their
physical inadequacies (3 4). It is presenting men in a way that is unnatural, like
how girls and their bodies are advertised. We assume that this is how men should
appear and we judge them based on the illusions that the media has created. Cruz
displays that steroids is associated with depression, range attacks, suicidal
tendencies, and cardiomyopathies (4). He asserts that boys are pressured to look
what is considered as healthy in society. This shows how the media is harmful to
boys because they can use other alternatives, such as
Green Burial In America
Green Burial: Fixing America s Funerary Landscape
Breathtaking landscapes, beautiful moss covered headstones, and a scenic way to
spend the day around the dead this describes London s Highgate Cemetery. However,
Highgate and the other iconic Magnificent Seven graveyards arose out of Victorian
London s desperate need for more burial space to fit an overpopulated necropolis.
Now, in modern America, we re facing a similar issue, except instead of mass plague
pits, we have wasteful lawn cemeteries filled with metal lines caskets. concrete vaults,
and gallons of toxic embalming fluid.
Conventional American funeral services have led to an unsustainable funerary
landscape. With a population of over 300 million as of 2016, people dying every hour,

Aside from fueling the funeral industry s monetary greed, each component of a
conventional burial serves one main purpose: to give the illusion of immortality.
Embalming fluids slow down the process of decay, cushioned caskets almost serve
as a bed for the deceased, and concrete vaults keep decomposers and
microorganisms from reaching the corpse. However, all of these things also lead
to overcrowding. Rather than taking up only as much space as a human body does,
a burial plot is now 91.5 x 30 . Furthermore, that same plot often cannot be used
again. Reusing a plot requires digging up the casket and placing the remains
somewhere else, often in a mass storage unit or grave. Even then, many cemeteries
don t allow for one site to be reused. A natural burial alleviates these problems.
Natural burial cemeteries do away with heavy preservative measures, opting
instead to allow the body to decompose. All the materials used in a natural burial
are biodegradable, meaning they can easily and safely decompose in the soil.
Because the body eventually fully decomposes, that same plot of land can be reused
after a specified number of years. This opens up space for future generations to be

Causes Of Violent Protest During The American Revolution
1117 In a time when the first shots of the American Revolution was starting in
Lexington and Concord in 1775, and the Revolution of 1800 which ended the
Federalist Party s control of American politics. It is in this context, that the desire for
change ignited with the use of violence in the new nation. Two significant changes in
violent protest in America from 1763 to 1791 were the results that ensued from the
wealthy elite fearing the common people, and the enemy that the common people
attacked. Admittedly, one significant continuity in violent protest in America from
1763 to 1791 was that the rebellions were always led by ordinary people to change
government to benefit themselves. In the beginning of the period beginning in 1763,
the first rebellion occurred in America, The March of the Paxton Boys. The Paxton
Boy were Scots Irish frontiersmen who created a small group in 1763 to retaliate
against the the native attacks on the western frontier of Virginia and Pennsylvania
that originated from the Pontiac s Rebellion. They retaliated because the lack of the

Also Shays Rebellion was led by common people. Daniel Shays was a Revolutionary

Low Extremity Amputation
Abstract Lower extremity amputation constitute high percentage of limb amputation
which significantly reduce the motion ability and quality of life of the amputees.
Therefore the most important goal in the design of prosthesis is to restore function
of the lost limb. Most of the commercially available ankle foot prostheses are
passive and thus cause many gait pathologies for below knee amputees, such as high
metabolic demand, poor shock tolerance and asymmetric gait patterns. Even though
several powered prosthetic devices have been designed and proposed to improve
amputee walking experience by exploiting active elements, these designs yet suffer
from heavy and bulky actuators which is necessary to produce the power of
propulsion. In this paper,

There have been dozens of definitions of entrepreneurship. The first of those is the
phenomenon that some people, rather than working for somebody else under an
employment contract, strike out on their own and become self employed. These
economic entities involve some element of innovation at start up, and some degree of
innovativeness is needed to survive over time. However, innovation is not central to
this phenomenon. It is to the second social reality. This reality involves the
development and renewal of any society, economy or organization, which is based on
micro level actors who have the initiative and persistence to make change happen. In
this reality, entrepreneurship means the creation of new economic activities and
organizations as well as the transformation of existing ones . Indicators of
Contributions to Economic Outcomes 1)Employment : Firms may contribute to the
amount of employment generated or to the quality of employment. Firm growth,
measured by the number of jobs created (relative to the size of the firm), is often
used as an indicator of the quantity of employment generated. The quality of
employment is measured in terms of the remuneration offered to employees. The
primary indicators used are wage levels, benefits (e.g. health insurance), and the use
of productivity related pay (PRP). Job satisfaction levels of the employees in

Working of Wind Turbines
There are a large number of literatures available on the study conducted to improve
the working of wind turbines. Some of these researches have been implemented
practically while others are still in experimental phase. A literature was prepared by
Md. Mahfouz Sarwar, Nazia Nawshin, Muhammad Ali Imam and Mohammad
Mashudon on A new approach to improve the performance of an existing small wind
turbineby using Diffuser. They have studied the improved effect of diffuser on the
performance of a small windturbine system. They have analyzed two hollow
structures: Nozzle and Diffuser. Also by experimental setup they have proved that
the wind speed in diffuser was greatly influenced by diffuser open angle, and speed
increases near the inlet region of it.
3.1 Selection of Diffuser Shape
Khulna University of Engineering Technology (KUET) had done smoke wire
analysis on two types of hollow structure models, a nozzle and a diffuser. The
experiments revealed that a diffuser shaped structure can accelerate the wind at the
entrance of the body. They examined the inner flow of two typical hollow structures,
namely a nozzle type model that reduces the inside cross section and a diffuser type
model that expand the inside cross section downstream. The diffuser model has a
remarkable effect on the collection and acceleration of the approaching wind. It has
been found that the wind tends to avoid the nozzle type model, while the wind flows
into the diffuser type model as it is inhaled.

Some resources and efforts should be focused on each targeted segment, and mix of
tools should be different. (Lehmann, D. and Russell S. 1994)
In the case of iPad marginal efforts in targeting of each chosen segments are the key
of whole process. Apple continually target own existing and potential customers. In
the Casa iPad targeting is investment of extra efforts that are enhanced on the roofs
of enormous bran name capital. Therefore targeting is easier, but mistakes are also
more dangerous. In the case of, for example iPad failure, company brand losing non
proportional amount of brand equity. Therefore, this situation in Apple is blessing
and curse.
Most important issue in targeting is magic word HOW. In the case of iPad it is
specific mix of promotion, formal and informal in order of attracting the potential
buyers. iPad is basically toy, gadget or whatever, friend of PC/Mac rather then
device per se. In some extent, it is computer for dummies and Apple invested lot of
efforts to change picture of blond buying iPad and using it together with scarves,
purses and shoes. Therefore, action had to be directed into the creation of
atmosphere of cool product for cool people. iPad is shown as matter of life style,
useful supplement, competitor to e book reader and iPhone. The most challenging
task in targeting is estimating of efforts success, bearing in mind that development of
Blue Water Djinn Character Analysis
TГ©a Obreht s story Blue Water Djinn shows us a young boy s development in
maturity through the involvement of adult situations that occur in the story. The
story begins with the boy, Jack, waking up to the concern of a hotel guest s
disappearance. The locals call this guest, the Frenchman. Frenchman s clothes get
located near the beach however Frenchman is nowhere being found. Fawad, one of
Jack s father figures in the story; however, warns Jack about the made up mysterious
creature that lives out in the sea designed to keep Jack out of trouble. Jack s
awareness of the mysterious creature, called djinn, leads Jack to picture Frenchman s
missing is affected by the djinn. During the investigation of Frenchman s
disappearance, Jack tends to be involved in adult situations. The story guides to the
boys transition of adolescences and in the end scene of the story, Jack goes out to

Because of the peculiar connection between Jack and the Frenchman, it affects Jack
with inner conflicts. During the search of the Frenchman, Jack tends to miss his
meal and tends hurts himself. Also, the fact that he knows about the djinn, it makes
him feel guilty about the Frenchman s missing. The night, before, Jack had been
unable to sleep (538). Jack feels uncomfortable by the missing so he goes out to the
beach. Then Jack sees all of his images of the djinn told by Fawad and thinks the
djinn is talking to him. Jack s thoughts were very limited to the child level until when
he sees the Frenchman, help, the Frenchman was shouting for help, and, suddenly,
Jack realized that the Frenchman was thrashing and rolling over in the water (541).
Jack no longer considers his imagination as the reality and he witnesses the

IPG should use BAM as the strategic move to encourage brand loyalty of using

Company and Competitor Analysis
Company s objective was to become the premiere worldwide marketer of instant
adhesives for industrial use by 1985. Its strength (exh.1) includes brand (quality,
history, service, knowledge etc) and good relationship with distributors. Its weakness
includes inexperience in selling equipment and low sales commission incentive to
store equipment. BAM should promote its 10% drop shipment program and increase
equipment commission to provide incentives to distributors.

Analysis Of Cathedral By Raymond Carver
A New Perspective Everyone at one point has judged a book by its cover. In the
short story, Cathedral , Raymond Carver creates a narrator who bases off ideas
and assumptions about blind people from movies. The narrator has never
interacted with a blind person before the day where his wife invites her friend,
who is named Robert, to stay. The narrator and Robert have never met, but the
narrator has a strong dislike towards Robert before meeting. The narrator s closed
mindedness and misconceptions leads him to judge Robert, however after a few
hours of interaction, the narrator learns more about him and grows to have a new
perspective about people not being who they think they are. The narrator is pre
judgemental towards all people who are blind, whether or not he has met them. He
believes all blind people are the same as those he has watched in movies. The
narrator perception of the blindis that they moved slowly and never laughed and
when they went out they were led by seeing eye dogs (Carver 104). The movie
industry creates a false image of the blind, which leads to the narrator s
assumptions. However, the blind are not all the same, just like how everyone else in
the world are not the same. People are designed to be different in their personalities,
thoughts, looks and much more. The narrator s ideas of Robert are based off of false
conceptions and this changes his attitude towards Robert. The narrator already has
strong feelings towards Robert before meeting him
Analyzing The Movie Jurassic World
The movie I decided to write about is called Jurassic World. It tells the story of two
brothers, Zach and Gray, who go on a trip to a theme park in Costa Rica where their
aunt Claire works. This particular amusement park has the usual rides and roller
coasters, but what makes it special is its main attraction: dinosaurs. Jurassic World is
a futuristic film where scientists have brought back the creatures that have been
extinct for 65 million years. When the park s attendance rates start rapidly declining,
the scientists genetically engineer a new breed of dinosaur, a hybrid new to man. This
is done in hopes of attracting more people, but then everything goes awry and it s up
to Claire and Owen Grady to rescue the boys from the jaws of death.
This story connects to biotechnology through the creation of the dinosaurs. This is
not too far ahead in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the movie, their newest creation went rogue and turned into a killing machine,
proving hybrids to be unreliable. This is negative because it means something went
wrong biologically, which falls back on the scientists. If they were going to make
something as risky as a dinosaur, they should have at least made sure they were
doing it right. A second unfavorable impact of this is that bringing dinosaurs back to
life is a very dangerous idea as they can turn against their maker at any moment.
People s safety was negatively impacted, they shouldn t have been put in this situation
in the first place.
Overall, Jurassic World exhibits examples of both positive and negative effects of
biotechnology. Personally, I would not have thought executing this was a smart idea
and I would not have gone through with it. I feel hesitant about biotechnology being
used for this purpose because there are so many risks and it is uncharted territory as
well. Obviously, it is still a fascinating fictional fantasy, but it is best that it remains
just that, living in our imaginations instead of in real
Playing God in Mary Shelley s Frankenstein Essay
In his Poetics, Aristotle defines the tragic hero as a man of high social status who
invites the gods to punish him through overbearing pride and/or presumption hubris.
It would be simple to assign the label of hubristic tragic hero to Victor Frankenstein,
but such assignment of a label would be an oversimplification. The gods in Greek
drama punish, albeit harshly, in an outright manner. The tragic figure is aware that
the gods have forsaken him, and he resigns to live his life under the demands of
retribution. Victor Frankensteins fate is not so simple; fate is crueler to Victor and
more spiteful than he could ever be to the heavens. The question that precedes all
others, however, is who is or what acts as god in... Show more content on

Christianity made humanity s views on nature and God anthropocentric; man was the
sole subject, speaker, and rational sovereign of the natural order (Manes 21). By
removing the godly powers from nature, it becomes open to exploit and
experimentation.
Western scientists, beginning around the thirteenth century, took this one step further.
They began making discoveries and formulating experiments under the pretext of
discovering how God s creatures operate. The danger suspected by naturalists
proved true men of science began to feel that nature belonged to them and that if
God had allowed them to get so close to nature and its functions, that they were
obviously allowed to play with it as they pleased:
As technologies enabling dramatic transformations of the natural order increasingly
appeared in the modern period, and as a new and much more powerful knowledge
of what was believed to be the true order of nature began to emerge in the science of
Galileo, Newton and their successors, is it so surprising that Westerners came to
think of themselves as lords of creation with a possibility, and a mandate, to expand
human powers over nature ...? (Kaufman 9)
It is therefore not surprising that a man of Victor Frankenstein s time, education, and
passions would succumb to such a mentality. Victor himself explains his fascination
with these scientists: They penetrate into the recesses of nature, and show how she
works in her

Importance Of Ancient Egypt
Why Ancient Egypt?
Why choose Ancient Egypt when there are so many other civilisations around the
same period of time? Ancient Egypt was different to any other culture or civilisation.
They believed in many things that other didn t believe in. Ancient Egypt had many
beautiful views especially along the Nile. By going to Ancient Egypt, you will
experience the different way of life. It would be an experience of a lifetime.
Geography
Ancient Egypt occupied the same amount of area as Modern Egypt does today. It
covered the North Eastern part of the Sahara Desert and was near where Africa meets
the Mediterranean Sea. The Egyptians believed that the country was split into four

The Valley of the Kings
The valley of the Kings is located on the Nile s west back near Luxor. The
pharaohs of Egypt s Old Kingdom picked the pyramid of Giza and the Nile delta as
their tombs but the pharaohs of the New Kingdom wanted a place closer to the
source of their dynasty roots in the south. This place is the Valley of the Kings.
The valley of the kings was a burial ground for pharaohs such as Tutankhamun, Seti
I, Ramses II as well as queens, elites and elites of the 18th,19th and 20th dynasties.
It was a total of 62 tombs. Tombs would be stocked with materials the ruler would
need in the next world. They also would stock food and drinks for royal feasts in the
next world.
The Nileometer The Nileometer was an ancient instrument used to measure the
water of the Nile so farmers know to expect famine of floods. Before the Aswan
Dam was made to manage flooding in Ancient Egypt the Nileometer was used
instead. It was used up to 5000 years ago. The first design was a vertical column
submerged in the river marked with intervals showing how deep the river was. The
survival of the Egyptians depended on the Nile so the Nileometer was quite

The Best Way To Respond To Conflict Essay
Conflict
Conflict is everywhere. People have different ways of dealing with it. Some people
keep to themselves, and don t speak up, but this is not the best way to respond to
conflict. People can best respond to conflict by standing up in what they believe in,
and having a positive attitude.
What do you need to do if you want to stand up? You can disobey the law,or what
people tell you to do. As an example in the article Hitler Youth, German Motto said,
German Girls wear braids, dark haired Sophie wore her hair short. Also, you can
stand out and do what you want to do. As an example in the article Hitler Youth,
Sophie began to grow from the National Socialistic ideas about race, religion, and
duty. She was beginning to form her own political views. And finally, you could
spread your ideas to others. As it says in Hitler Youth , Sophie measured herself
against high standards and believed others should do the same.

need to be different . As it says in the article Hitler Youth, She was beginning to

website social psychology network, Evacuation orders were posted in Japanese
American communities giving instructions on how to comply with the executive
order. Many families sold their homes, their stores, and most of their assets. They
could not be certain their homes and livelihoods would still be there upon their

a fraction of their true value. The japanese citizens had to be brave when they were

Natalie Coughlin s Engagement Ring
When we think of large or impressive celebrity engagement rings, we often think of
actresses, singers, or models. While female athletes are not often known for their
flashy jewelry, many of them also have beautiful engagement rings, proving that you
can be active and still enjoy gorgeous jewelry. Here are eight great engagement rings
worn by some famous female athletes.
Natalie Coughlin
Olympic gold medalist swimmer Natalie Coughlin has been married now for more
than seven years, but that does not make her ring, given to her by her husband and
fellow swimmer Ethan Hall, old news. Coughlin s engagement ring is a 2 carat round

May of 2010, we did not have a honeymoon or a vacation. So my husband Ryan and
I came to a decision that we are going to take this opportunity and spend lavishes on
a combo vacation. This trip was once in a lifetime vacation in Jamaica, and we
were very excited, I felt like a little kid waiting for my very first candy. Ryan and I
went ahead and book our vacation at Sandals, in Montego Bay, Jamaica. There was
so much to do in just 14 days, I taught we would have lots of time for sight seeing
and enjoyed the package we choose, but in real time that was not the case. Once we

We finally made it to the top; I was so relieve of fear. Nevertheless, when I taught
this adventure was over think again, it was the most pleasant scenery, I taught I die
and gone to heaven. This scene is astonishing, just imaging standing on the highest
mountain overseeing the river with the blues sky and the water color was a bluish
to an emerald green with the sun light glistens in the river, a nice cool breeze is
blowing, it a place I would recommend, it is a remarkable place to visit. Finally, a
few days of calm and relaxing, a nice day at the beach just enjoying the sea breeze
as it calms me while watching the wave dancing and the sound is soothing to my
ears. As I was surrounded by this delightful evening as the night sets in. The scene
on the beach was invigorating. Every evening there is a party, these parties
normally last anywhere between 12 to 24 hours and you have a choice of at least 3
5 different place to party all within the same facility. The most memorably evening
party was the one right on the beach. There were different shows throughout the
night, there were live music played by a band and everyone dance and had a good
time. Then the second part of the show involved with a man doing stunts, this man
weighs about 230 pounds standing on a board with nails pointed up, that s got to hurt,
but he was not hurt, he said it was a specially technique he used. As the evening

Explain stereotyping and the reasons why it is not good to let stereotypes affect
your relationship with others. Stereotyping is holding the thought that the members
of a particular group are all of the same character or thinking. For example: that all
accountants are boring, all red heads are bad tempered, all skinny people are
anorexic, all girls play with dolls, all boys play with cars, etc. Stereotyping makes
assumptions about members of a particular group, solely because of their membership
in that group. In my opinion, it isn t good to let stereotypes affect my relationship

Looking back now, if placed in that same situation, I would not react by confronting
the person. I now realise that she probably wasn t even aware of my feelings about
growing up in South Africa and how a comment like that would affect me. She
probably just said it because it is within her family/cultural upbringing to use terms
like that in a joking way. I would now be more tolerant when faced with a situation
like that and brush it aside. Stereotyping that women are bad drivers: On a regular
occasion, when driving with males in a car, and there is somebody on the road
making an error in driving, the comment always comes up that the driver must be a
female. I know that it is said in jest, but it is a typical stereotyping comment which
is made, which seems to be accepted by society. I don t drive, so I don t take
offence to the comment, but I do stand up for other female drivers when the
comment is made though, because I wouldn t be surprised if other females, who
do drive, do take offence to such a comment. Learning what I have now though, if
a comment like that is said, then I won t react to it. I will be tolerant towards the
person saying it because they are obviously repeating something which is commonly
said within society and said in jest. Even though the comment isn t acceptable to me,
I will learn to tolerate it. 3. What can you do to overcome these effects of
stereotyping? 1. I should learn to be more tolerant and become more aware

Culture Of The Middle East
Introduction I explored the culture of the Middle East because I find it very
interesting and different from my own. I feel as if many people hold a strong
negative feeling against people from the Middle East because of terrorist attacks in
the past. Middle Eastern culture is different from American culture and some people
are not culturally aware so they do not understand Middle Eastern culture, therefore,
people judge off of what they know. After visiting and researching the Middle EastI
have came to change my views as well as well I am now culturally aware of some
Middle Eastern cultures and traditions. My views have grown more positively
since I am more aware of what Middle Eastern culture consists of and how it is
different from my own. More people need to become more cultural sensitive and
aware of different cultures besides their own so they can rid ignorance of different
people. I wanted to look at different parts of Middle Eastern family structure, social
norms, and gender differences in marriages and in society. I wanted to look at how
people outside of Middle Eastern culture view Middle Eastern Americans. I was
also interested in the victimization and passiveness Middle Eastern women and the
gender differences between males and females living in Middle East as well as
how feminism can change political views in the Middle East. I am also interested in
looking at the political views and how much of religion influences the Middle East
and how it differs from

Examples Of A Thesis Statement In An Essay

  • 1. Examples Of A Thesis Statement In An Essay Writing an essay on the topic "Examples of a Thesis Statement in an Essay" can be both challenging and rewarding. Crafting a thesis statement is a crucial aspect of essay writing, as it serves as the central idea around which the entire essay revolves. The difficulty lies in articulating a concise and impactful thesis statement that not only conveys the main point but also sets the tone for the rest of the essay. To begin with, one must possess a deep understanding of the subject matter and the specific requirements of the essay. It requires careful analysis and critical thinking to identify a clear and arguable stance that can be effectively supported throughout the essay. The process involves brainstorming, researching, and evaluating different perspectives before settling on a thesis statement that is both compelling and well-supported. Furthermore, the challenge extends to the ability to provide relevant and convincing examples to strengthen the thesis statement. Finding appropriate examples that align with the main argument requires thorough research and a keen eye for detail. It's essential to choose examples that not only support the thesis but also contribute to a cohesive and persuasive essay. Moreover, the difficulty lies in the art of balancing specificity and generality. The thesis statement should be specific enough to guide the essay's focus, yet broad enough to allow for a comprehensive exploration of the topic. Achieving this balance requires careful consideration and precision in language. In conclusion, writing an essay on the topic of "Examples of a Thesis Statement in an Essay" demands a combination of skills, including critical thinking, research, and effective communication. • 2. Virgin Mobile Harvard Case STUDENT:| Louis Claude ROUX| PROFESSOR:| Philippe RenГ© Gillet| CASE: Virgin Mobile USA Pricing for the first time | DATE: 20/02/2012CLASS: MBS Entrepreneuriat| PART I) ANSWERS BASED ON MY GUT FEELINGS Virgin Mobile targets the 14 to 24 year olds market. The case lays out three pricing options. Which option would you choose and why? I would go for option number two for several reasons. The first one is that I think offer number one is not sufficiently different from the rest of the market. The price positioning is the same and we only get better off peak hours, supposedly fewer hidden fees and applications. Virgin Xtras is a creative idea and definitely suits Virgin s image and targeted young audience, however I... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It feels like an inquisition for the customer, affecting in a very bad way the purchasing experience. The buckets of minutes might have been a confusing notion at first, however everybody understands what it is now. The industry had to find a common standard to compare the offers and that is what buckets help doing. I think the buckets are visual and graphically clear enough to make the offers more attractive and easy to comprehend. The hidden fees are a true enemy to the consumer experience! Even when you think you have understood everything, there are extras coming out of nowhere spoiling the whole experience. That is part of the reason why we always feel like the phone operators are cheating on us. Regarding the on peak/off peak distinction, I think it is a powerful argument. Most people understand what it is and the fact that we can have unlimited time on off peak hours is a must have for every operator today. Just like with the buckets, it might add a complexity at first, but it is something that the customer has understood and therefore we speak the same vocabulary. The big problem that ruins the consumer experience is the addition of these variables. Indeed, you need to compare all of them between different carriers to find the better deal. I would also add to these variables the price of the actual mobile phone with the
  • 3. Animal Rights Against Animals magine eating a delicious piece of bacon with the fat juice dripping off while biting into the bacon, it crunches. Now imagine the pig that the bacon came from. An innocent creature now has been shocked with electric prods, had its throat cut, and has bled out to death. Pigs are not the only creatures to suffer such a despicable death. Animals like sheep, cows, chickens, and goats are slaughtered for their meat. The animalsare all butchered in a place called a slaughterhouse. Slaughterhouses are horrible places where humans believe they have the right to treat animals any way they want as long as they get the meat they need. People who eat meat need to understand what happens to an animal before it winds up on a plate.Animals can not defend themselves against humans. Therefore, someone else must defend the animals. Slaughterhouses must be stopped. Slaughterhouses are the cheapest ways for humans to get meat. Rather than paying large sums of money to put the animals down humanely, they are just murdered. Animals are separated in slaughterhouses from their families after being with them for weeks. Imagine one never getting to know his mother, then being ripped away from their child, while trying to manage to survive.Animals should have rights just like humans do. Animals hearts beat just like any human s.If animals have to be raised and die, they should not suffer. Most animal s natural instincts are to protect their children, and that is ripped away from them with their
  • 4. Informative Essay On Olympics In the following paragraphs, I will explain to you what Alpine Skiing Team Event is, and how it came to the Olympics. Alpine Skiing Team Event is a new sport in the Olympics. This is the first year that they are going to feature this sport. Although this is its first year in the Olympics it is not a completely unknown sport. This sport has been in the World Championships since 2005, then in 2011, they added Parallel Alpine Skiing Team Event to the World Championship. To summarize, although this sport has never seen an Olympic audience, it will be one event you won t want to miss. First of all, the team consists of four athletes, two men and, two women. During the competition its country versus country. One woman/man at a time going head to head with their components. Whoever completes the course is awarded one point. There are four heats, each person on the team goes once. If your component falls or goes off course and you sail ahead, you are the automatic winner of that heat and given one point. Whoever gets the most points goes on in the competition. Like most sports, the winners stay in the competition and keep competing to get to the top. Before the competition starts, you have to do a practice run, to make sure the course is safe and ready to go. They skier can reach up to seventy miles per hour in one run.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Many athletes say that they spend nearly two to five hours a day of ski training. That is a very long time to be constantly on the slopes. Competitors in this competition usually train six out of the seven days of the week. They only have one off day which consists of relaxing to repair muscles. Some the techniques they use instead of actually skiing on the slopes are pretty fascinating. On days they don t hit the slope, they do agility drills to help with speed and coordination. They also do dryland skiing. It sounds weird but it actually helps them with their technique on the

In 1199 King Richard died while he was trying to take one of his castles back. Having no wife or children, his rule was passed down to John. As John became king the rulers of France were against him so Queen Eleanor sent her granddaughter to marry the French king s son so there would be peace. In the 1200 Queen Eleanor rode horseback at 80 years old to fetch her granddaughter, Blancher, as she crossed the Pyrenees and got her at the court of the French castle. The son of Geoffrey, Arthur of Brittany, tried to take over the crown, but Eleanor helped John to defend Anjou and Aquitaine. Two years later Arthur tried another attack, Eleanor still defeated him as she defended John. Manufacturing Of Lithium Ion Batteries Essay Globally, 78% of mobile phone users have a smartphone (Close Up Media, Inc, Deloitte Report: Mobile Consumers Check Phones over 80 Billion Times a Day Globally. ). Lithium ion batteries, which were introduced by Sony in the early 1990s, are the most common battery to be used in smartphones and other mobile devices due to their high levels of efficiency, their lightweight design, and their ability to be recharged (Hock, Power Up ). As a result of worldwide demand for lithiumion batteries, mobile technology producers, such as Microsoft and Apple, are dependent on the acquisition of cobalt a key element in the manufacturing of lithium ion batteries at the lowest price possible. In their quest for low prices, these companies purchase cobalt from cobalt producers that mine in impoverished areas which lack workplace regulations that ensure safety and fair treatment of laborers. One of the preeminent cobalt suppliers in the world is a Chinese company named Zhejiang Huayou Cobalt, and this firm receives a vast amount of cobalt from a Congo based subsidiary called Congo DongFang International Mining. A majority of the world s cobalt, 60%, is mined in the Congo (Frankel, This Is Where Your Smartphone Battery Begins. ). One need not look far to see the ethical implications of obtaining cobalt from these Congolese mines. Many worldwide organizations, for example Amnesty International, have criticized the practices of these mines. Viewing this issue from the Kantian lens, once can

The employee filmed Underwood within the scope of his employment, but posting was outside the scope. The plaintiff alleges invasion of privacy and damage to reputation, but the harms of both claims come from the act of sharing the video with others. Had the employee not shared the video, the plaintiff probably would have no case for damage to her reputation as the events would have stayed between the two parties. Instead, he posted the video. Posting, rather than filming, caused the plaintiff harm. It is clear the employee acted within the scope while filming. As a service worker who often closes the store, an employee should have experience with difficult customers late at night. As such, the situation fell within the normal course of his duties. The worker s main goal was not a personal motive, but to close the store. He thought filming the plaintiff would incentive her to leave. Posting falls outside the scope of employment for a few reasons. First, he posted the video to his personal account for the purposes of entertaining online viewers. He also knew that Vega did not approve of him being on YouTube during work hours, but did so anyway. Finally, Vega noted embarrassing customers did not benefit the business, but might ease personal annoyances to the worker, meaning the video helped the posting employee to the detriment his employer. There are a couple of counterarguments to this interpretation. First, using Daugherty, one might

The focus of the theory is how Robert Pickton became a serial killer due to the environment he grew up in and relationships. Pickton s parents ran a meat business in Port Coquitlam and Pickton alongside his brother helped them. Pickton s mother was tough and had the children work on a strict schedule. In addition, Pickton s father had very little influence in his life, but his mother can be the key influence in why he murders women. Pickton was close to his mother and she also was a major authority figure in his life. Consequently, Pickton could have grown a hatred towards women due to his mother and is the reason he targets women. Enough hatred to ensure his victims suffer by raping and killing them Also, due to his mother making him work hard on the farm he had little to no childhood. Pickton did raise a calf and was very close to it, however, the calf was slaughtered. As a result, Pickton never forgot it and also said from CBC News, the incident made him realize life was fleeting. Additionally, Pickton is used to seeing things being killed and dying because he saw many animals being slaughtered when he was young. Death in his eyes has been normalized and is not an unusual occurrence. This is a key reason Pickton does not feel remorse for the killing of his victims because it is normal to him. Furthermore, Pickton was quiet and socially awkward, sometimes exhibiting unusual behaviour.

I was raised in a Jewish household, and growing up Passover has always been one of my favorite holidays. I had so much fun searching for the Afikomen, welcoming Elijah to our Seder table, and above all, retelling the story of how the Jews were freed from slavery and escaped the wrath of the Pharaoh thanks to the guidance of God. It s a magical story which has inspired hope in me for years, and that s why I was so surprised when I learned that there is little if no physical evidence for the exodus. Perhaps the Egyptians of the time recorded clues which can tell us what happened, or at least help us to piece together the story. This research will have an important religious impact as well as tell us a lot about the history of this time period. The modern day Jewish people will appreciate the findings, even if the conclusion is that the famous exodus never really took place. But if it did, then it will shed a lot of light on the events that took place. For example if the Red Sea really did split, then scientists will be forced to hypothesize and debate how this could have been possible. III. As town lords and bishops (the same man often held both positions) stamped out the lawlessness that marked Europe in earlier centuries, members of the upper class felt safe enough to embark on pilgrimages (59). Suger, with his unknown architect, had a daring plan to build upward and outward and incorporate existing architectural principles with new building theories. It is the combination of all these qualities that is important in the stylistic evaluation of the interior of Saint Denis as the first work of the Early Gothic style (Frankl 67). Suger s most pressing need was space. To create that space his goal was to eliminate walls in his monastery where possible. Starting in 1140, Suger opened up a vast amount of room by using pointed arches and ribbed vaults. These techniques in themselves were not new or unique. St. Denis didn t mark the debut of either feature; the ribbed vault shows up in a few earlier European churches, and the pointed arch is widespread in Islamic architecture (Columbia 1). However, Suger was the first to combine all of those qualities with a new and daring element: light. This was a direct result of his implementation of the ribbed vaults and pointed arches which eliminated walls and opened up wide sweeps of interior space and allowed for thinner walls that could frame massive stained glass windows (Gilgoff 59). Suger often spoke reverently of the

In the first step of the nursing process; assessment, the nurse gathers information about a patient. Amy can gather data on her study habits by figuring out what type of learner she is to incorporate that learning style into her study habits, assessing her current grades and keeping records, and testing her knowledge to see what she current knows. The first most important thing that Amy can assess is how she learns. Is she an auditory, visual or kinetics learning? But Bastiat s greatest contribution is that he took the discourse out of the ivory tower and made ideas on liberty so clear that even the unlettered can understand them. Like others, Bastiat recognized the greatest single threat to liberty is government. Law, according to Bastiat, is the collective organization of the individual right to lawful defense (pg. 2). Bastiat starts off saying that the basic gifts man has from God, it exists only to do what individuals have a right to do: protect their persons, their liberties and their properties. Bastiat gave the same rationale for government as did our Founders, saying, Life, liberty and property do not exist because men have made laws. On the contrary, it is the fact that life, liberty and property existed beforehand that caused men to make laws in the first place. No finer statements of natural or God given rights have been made than those found in our Declaration of Independence and The Law. The law was created to ensure that individuals in society were allowed to use these gifts. Justice is achieved only when injustice is absent (pg. 12).When the law is used for more than these three goals, the law becomes an instrument of injustice. Similar to the use of the law is abused by the greed and false philanthropy

Millennials make up the population of society that was born between 1980 and 2000 and in America there are more millennials right now than baby boomers more than 80 million (Simmons Duffit). Just like every new generation, the Millennials have been endlessly criticized by older generations. They have been called lazy, entitled, self absorbed, social media crazed, technology addicts, privileged, and so much more. This generation change has drawn more public attention than ever before, maybe because of the access to widespread information nowadays or maybe because this time, it s a bigger deal. Millennials aren t afraid to address this topic because they believe that they can change the world for the better. They want the judgements in communities and the criticisms in the workplace to stop. They want society to realize they are not so different from generations before, they are already transforming life as we know it, and that they will soon be the next generation of leaders and nothing can change that. Although Millennials can be perceived in multiple negative aspects, older generations should be open to the unique potential that this massive generation has to offer as an opportunity to close the gap of separation and learn to grow from each other. One of the most common criticism of Millennials is their tendency to be lazy.

Once alcoholism was named a disease in 1956 by the American Medical Association (AMA) AA grew and more hospitals sprung up wards for alcoholics for patients to detox with no other treatment offered. What someone in a ward for alcholhoics did receive was members showing up to support their fellow drinker and offering support and invitations to meetings. Thus began the road to calling alcoholism a disease and the first 12 step program AA. I believe that all people are important no matter their culture, station, or religious background. Patient care affects not just the individual patient. It affects everyone around the patient including the society in which they live. Nurses should practice with compassion, respect, and dignity while being the patient s advocate and maintaining competency within their scope of practice. My philosophy has been influenced by the Quality Care Model, personal values, historical nursing figures, and my personal experiences with nurses. Even one nurse can make a difference. Personal Experiences with Nurses At the end of a busy day, my father calls and says that my mother is very sick. She had been in the hospital for intravenous fluids. I could tell by his tone of voice that something was gravely wrong. I rushed to the hospital to find my mother barely able to breathe. Her nurse was racing to control her breathing while giving her a diuretic. My mother is a very small person and the nurse had ascertained the fact that she was given too much fluid. She was in fluid overload. Her nurse had just saved my mother s life. All the while, he was able to comfort my father and reassure me. He

Eve has just come from her party. She ran upstairs into her room and found a doll on her bed. It was the spitting image of her, golden curls, big bright blue eyes, wearing a pink satin dress with ruffles and bows. She played with the doll, brushing her hair and telling her stories. She was so intrigued by the doll and occupied by playing with her that she didn t notice the storm approaching. Clouds had gathered and the fog settled with soft rain beating against the windows. • 27. Essay On Stereotype Threat The Effects of Stereotype Threat and Self Enhancement on Self Esteem Stereotypes or widely held and oversimplified beliefs about a person or thing have both pros and cons and we are all guilty of using them. Although they have made life easier by helping us quickly navigate the world and have helped us understand different cultures norms and values they can also turn sour when they undermine a culture by portraying them in a negative light. Negative stereotypes about African Americans are an example of this. Today s culture is filled with stereotypes about African Americans. For instance, according to Welch (2007) In American society, a prevalent representation of crime is that it is overwhelmingly committed by young Black men (p. 276). Continuing on, Welch (2007) notes that the image of a young Black male as a violent and menacing street thug is fueled and perpetuated by typifications everywhere (p. 276). Such stereotypes can play a major role in how one views a particular group and if one is part of that in group, how they might view themselves. Human beings are social group animals (Lessing 1) and need each other to survive with the intention to get along or fit in. These desires to conform influence our idea about ourselves (Lessing 1) and people lose a sense of their inner self based on these insecurities. The false concept of ideal beauty of body image is displayed in the media and it pressures young women and men to accept this particular notion of beauty. The role of the media comes into play because it pressures individuals to give in, since they appeal to our need, which is to be accepted. Similarly, women want to lose weight because being skinny is considered to be attractive. Green Burial In America Green Burial: Fixing America s Funerary Landscape Breathtaking landscapes, beautiful moss covered headstones, and a scenic way to spend the day around the dead this describes London s Highgate Cemetery. However, Highgate and the other iconic Magnificent Seven graveyards arose out of Victorian London s desperate need for more burial space to fit an overpopulated necropolis. Now, in modern America, we re facing a similar issue, except instead of mass plague pits, we have wasteful lawn cemeteries filled with metal lines caskets. concrete vaults, and gallons of toxic embalming fluid. Conventional American funeral services have led to an unsustainable funerary landscape. With a population of over 300 million as of 2016, people dying every hour, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Aside from fueling the funeral industry s monetary greed, each component of a conventional burial serves one main purpose: to give the illusion of immortality. Embalming fluids slow down the process of decay, cushioned caskets almost serve as a bed for the deceased, and concrete vaults keep decomposers and microorganisms from reaching the corpse. However, all of these things also lead to overcrowding. Rather than taking up only as much space as a human body does, a burial plot is now 91.5 x 30 . Furthermore, that same plot often cannot be used again. Reusing a plot requires digging up the casket and placing the remains somewhere else, often in a mass storage unit or grave. Even then, many cemeteries don t allow for one site to be reused. A natural burial alleviates these problems. Natural burial cemeteries do away with heavy preservative measures, opting instead to allow the body to decompose. All the materials used in a natural burial are biodegradable, meaning they can easily and safely decompose in the soil. Because the body eventually fully decomposes, that same plot of land can be reused after a specified number of years. This opens up space for future generations to be buried

The experiments revealed that a diffuser shaped structure can accelerate the wind at the entrance of the body. They examined the inner flow of two typical hollow structures, namely a nozzle type model that reduces the inside cross section and a diffuser type model that expand the inside cross section downstream. The diffuser model has a remarkable effect on the collection and acceleration of the approaching wind. In the short story, Cathedral , Raymond Carver creates a narrator who bases off ideas and assumptions about blind people from movies. The narrator has never interacted with a blind person before the day where his wife invites her friend, who is named Robert, to stay. The narrator and Robert have never met, but the narrator has a strong dislike towards Robert before meeting. The narrator s closed mindedness and misconceptions leads him to judge Robert, however after a few hours of interaction, the narrator learns more about him and grows to have a new perspective about people not being who they think they are. The narrator is pre judgemental towards all people who are blind, whether or not he has met them. He believes all blind people are the same as those he has watched in movies. The narrator perception of the blindis that they moved slowly and never laughed and when they went out they were led by seeing eye dogs (Carver 104). A second unfavorable impact of this is that bringing dinosaurs back to life is a very dangerous idea as they can turn against their maker at any moment. Explain stereotyping and the reasons why it is not good to let stereotypes affect your relationship with others. Stereotyping is holding the thought that the members of a particular group are all of the same character or thinking. For example: that all accountants are boring, all red heads are bad tempered, all skinny people are anorexic, all girls play with dolls, all boys play with cars, etc. Stereotyping makes assumptions about members of a particular group, solely because of their membership in that group. Looking back now, if placed in that same situation, I would not react by confronting the person. I now realise that she probably wasn t even aware of my feelings about growing up in South Africa and how a comment like that would affect me. She probably just said it because it is within her family/cultural upbringing to use terms like that in a joking way. I would now be more tolerant when faced with a situation like that and brush it aside. Stereotyping that women are bad drivers: On a regular occasion, when driving with males in a car, and there is somebody on the road making an error in driving, the comment always comes up that the driver must be a female. I know that it is said in jest, but it is a typical stereotyping comment which is made, which seems to be accepted by society. I don t drive, so I don t take offence to the comment, but I do stand up for other female drivers when the comment is made though, because I wouldn t be surprised if other females, who do drive, do take offence to such a comment. Learning what I have now though, if a comment like that is said, then I won t react to it. I will be tolerant towards the person saying it because they are obviously repeating something which is commonly said within society and said in jest. Even though the comment isn t acceptable to me, I will learn to tolerate it. 3. What can you do to overcome these effects of stereotyping? 1. I should learn to be more tolerant and become more aware
