The Importance Of Prosocial Behavior
Humans are inherently social being meaning they naturally tend to live in groups and that can
consist of both kin and nonkin. While humans do form communities there are conflicts that have
and will continue to occur because humans possess and exhibit traits both for and against prosocial
behavior. These antisocial traits continue to thrive in humans because it is working in conjunction
with other traits that are desired in humans or the trait themselves yields unexpected, but welcome

Dmitri Shostakovich is known as one of the most major composers within the 20th century. This
composer, born in 1906 in Saint Petersburg, Russia discovered his musical talent at age 9 after
beginning piano lessons with his mother. Throughout the years, he learned full piano and
composition which lead to his graduation from the Saint Petersburg Conservatory at age 19 with his
first symphony. Shostakovich often times found difficulty in balancing his artistic inspiration and
the demands of the soviet state. Shostakovich is recognized for his themes of solemn ambivalence
as well as for his ability to incorporate deep emotional range within his work. For this review, I
chose to watch Shostakovich Cello Concerto No. 2. This concert was performed by the State
Academic Symphony Orchestra of the USSR. The conductor of this concert was Yevgeny Svetlanov
and the violoncellist performing was Mstislav Rostropovich. Shostakovich Cello Concerto No. 2
was performed in the Large Hall of Moscow State Conservatory on September 25th, 1966.
This concerto is about 35 minutes long and has three movements throughout the work. In my
opinion, Shostakovich Cello Concerto No. 2 is full of unpredictability and emotional melancholy.
It seems as if the first movement conveys such a dark tone which within itself exemplifies the

Desmin is the most abundant IF protein in striated and smooth muscle cells and is one of the
earliest markers of muscle development (Clemen et al., 2012). Desmin filaments are mainly
located at the periphery of Z disk of striated muscles and at the dense bodies of smooth muscle
cells, and they have been thought to play a major role in the maintenance of structural and
mechanical integrity of the contractile apparatus in muscle tissues (Paulin Li, 2004). A
dysfunctional desmin protein cannot properly interact with Z discs, leading to abnormalities of

Although the father labors diligently all day long, and he still manages to be a caring person in his
sons life. The poem s main conflict comes from the son not realizing how good his father
actually was to him until he was much older. When the speaker was a young boy, he regarded his
father as a callous man due to his stern attitude and apparent lack of proper affection towards him.
Now that the son is older, he discovers that even though his father did not express his love in
words, he consistently did with his acts of kindness and selflessness.
Hayden utilizes diction to set a dark and solemn tone throughout the poem. Like the various
examples of imagery, there is also a strong use of underlying symbolism. In the first stanza, the
words cold (1. 2) and fires blaze (1. 5) are used, which introduces a conflict. This is emphasized
in the second stanza when the word cold (2. 1) is used again, later followed by the word warm
(2. 2). In the last stanza, the father eventually had driven out the cold (3. 2). Yet the father had not
ridden the house of the cold air until the end of the poem, which symbolizes how it took his son
several years later to recognize the behaviors in which his father conveyed his love for him.
This arising tone of regret and distance is also formed by the speaker s depiction of his father
having cracked hands that ached, (1. 3) which further signifies the father s struggle with the
severe coldness. The concept of self sacrifice is apparent in this portrayal of his father s disregard to
his own pain in order to provide warmth and light for his family s home. The stirring of banked fires
