Triangular Number Of Triangular Numbers
Triangular Numbers
Eli Nazarian
Ms. Ramson
H Algebra 2A
October 21, 2014
A triangular number is a number that counts the amount of objects that form when they are put
together to form an equilateral triangle (a triangle with all equal sides). The most common object
used to form a triangle are dots. When the dots create an equilateral triangle, the number of dots
seen in the triangle represent the triangular number. Overall, the sequence is generated from a
pattern of dots which form a triangle.
The first row contains a single dot and each subsequent row contains more dots than the previous
one. The sequence of triangular numbers are: 1, 3, 6,10, 15, 21... and so on.
When working with multiple triangles, each triangle is assigned a triangle number. For example,
triangle one (T1) has a triangular number of one. Triangle three has a triangular number of six. The
letter T, followed but a number represents a certain triangle.
The formula to calculate the amount of object using a stated length is:
Tn(th)= n(n+1) 2
T represents triangle number. N represents the length of the three sides of the equilateral triangle. If
a number (and only whole numbers) were plugged in for N. The final answer of the problem would
equal the number objects (dots) in the equilateral triangle.
Example: n= length of 6Formula: Tnth= n(n+1) 2
Plug in 6 for n. T6th=6(6+1) 2
Solve.T6th= 6(7)T6th=42T6th=21. 22

Prophets
To many Christians the Prophets are seen as being predictors of the Messiah, but it can be argued
that one can take any tidbit of information from a source (not just the bible) and use it, whether
within context or out of context, to support one s argument. In my opinion, as far as the prophets
are concerned, just because the prophets seem to predict the coming of the Messiah because of the
parallels that have been drawn between the books of the prophets and the New Testament does not
necessarily mean that they were able to predict the future it means that the New Testament authors
such as Matthew had either heard or could refer back to the writings of the Old Testamentprophets
such as Isaiah, Micah, and Hosea. The problem is not that the... Show more content on

For example, Hosea names two of his children Lo ruhmah and Lo ammi. As Borg points out,
these are Hebrew phrases that mean not pitied and not my people . Borg also points out that the
names represent a threat because the days are coming when Israel will be not pitied and not my
(God s) people . Chapter two of Hosea describes a divorce which seems to represent the end of
the covenant between God and the Northern Kingdom a symbolic act where by the divorce of
Hosea from Gamer for infidelity represents God s rejection of the Northern Kingdom. In typical
fashion, though, Hosea ends this prophecy with the declaration that God will one day renew the
covenant and will take back Israel. Another example of the allegory in Hosea is in chapter three
when Hosea seeks out Gomer again. Either she sold herself into slavery because of debt or she
is with someone who demands money in order to give her up because Hosea has to buy her
back. Even after he takes her name though he refrains from having sex with her for a while to
symbolize the fact that Israel will be without a King for many years but that God will take Israel
back even at a cost to him. Now back to the theme of social justice and the book of Amos...as
Borg points our in his chapter on Reading the prophets again , and so it can be found in the bible,
Amos speaks out against the wealthy for their exploitation of the poor. As Borg puts it, he paints
vivid and compelling pictures of

Establishment Republicans Are Not Sniggering
Establishment Republicans are not sniggering at Donald Trump s antics anymore, especially as
he threatens to go solo in November if party insiders scheme to deny him the nomination. Echoes
of similarly irate conservative Teddy Roosevelt and his Bull Moose party sinking the
Republican (GOP) national campaign in 1912 get louder every time Trump wins a primary
state. After the real estate mogul announced his candidacy in June last year, party leaders
contentedly sat back in the peanut gallery ridiculing his naked attempts at demagoguery. Later,
they dismissed Trump s surging poll numbers as an electoral blip sparked by fringe sections of
the party base that loathed the GOP s handling of Congress. Moreover, they believed Trump s
novelty act as the outsider would soon wear out and make GOP voters collectively come to their
senses and coalesce behind either Marco Rubio or Jeb Bush, the party s blue eyed boys. This
cocksure feeling has now given way to one of dread as Trump keeps notching victories in the
primary season. A new Rasmussen poll puts Trump 15 points clear of closest rival Ted Cruz.
More worryingly, 24% of Trump s base will very likely vote for him if he runs as an independent,
effectively torching GOP hopes of preventing a Democratic three peat in the White House.
Republican rivals have tried ganging up on Trump in debates, running attack ads to discredit him
but nothing really stuck so the establishment is changing tack. Influential leaders of the conservative

Clifford Geertz Religion As A Cultural System Summary
Clifford Geertz, in his essay Religion as a Cultural System , presents what he considers to be the
definition of religion. According to him, religion is about symbols and people use these symbols
as a guide for their view of the world and how they should behave in that world. Religion, states
Geertz is a system of symbols which acts to establish powerful, pervasive, and long lasting moods
and motivations in men by formulating conceptions of a general order of existence and clothing
these conceptions with such an aura of factuality that the moods and motivations seem uniquely
realistic (Geertz, The Interpretation of Cultures, page 90). What he is trying to do in this essay is

He distinguishes between intrinsic and extrinsic sources of information. The intrinsic are those
which are genetically programmed and are highly generalized . For this reason the extrinsic
sources of information are very important. They have a very important function which is to
provide a model for how we should live. He believes that the symbols of a religious nature, found
extrinsic to us, help us know how to see the world and how we should be within the world
(Churnus). Model of reality and a model for acting well
Secondly, these symbols establish powerful and long lasting moods and motivations. This means
that the symbols, such as the sweat lodge ceremony practiced by many Plains Indians or the
marriage ceremony of Christianity and many other religions, are what motivate people and are
also that which helps to establish peoples states of being. The symbols express the world s
climate and shape it (Geertz, page ). Symbols are powerful because they encourage people, those
who worship the symbol, into certain moods (Geertz). This means that, given certain situations
where a symbol might be present or act as a motivator, the person might feel a certain way or be
motivated to act in a certain manner. These, states Geertz are the two different dispositions which
might be induced (page ). Motivations, from a

The Simple Art Of Masquerade
The Simple Art of Masquerade Centuries ago, long before the thoughts of man were transcribed
into words, drawings were used to convey the thoughts and ideas, each telling a story like no
other, with an even greater discord between the accurate meanings of the story and meaning
which the reader garnered from the tale. Fast forward a few centuries to a time where stories
were ultimately being shared by word of mouth, altering a bit from the original thoughts and ideas
of the author who formerly spoke the tale. Traveling yet a few more centuries now to a time where
stories are now written and transcribed, not only by hand but also, finally, by printing press. This
illustrious invention paved the way for those who wished to share their... Show more content on

However, it is not only the authors portrayal of the characters that is important, but the interactions
amongst the characters themselves. It is within Raymond Chandler s The Big Sleep that he presents
each character through the eyes of Philip Marlowe, and is able to present who they are trying to be,
who they are, and the moral issues which arise in each. Chandler manipulates costumes and
setting to show who Carmen Sternwood s character is trying to be, who she really is and the
moral issues associated with each of these as seen through the eyes of Philip Marlowe. Since
countless of the characters throughout The Big Sleep do not show their true colors until the
end of the book or characters life, which the latter seems to be sooner than the former, the literary
clues given by Chandler to determine who they are trying to be as well as who they truly are is
uniquely important. She tries to portray herself as an innocent little girl, in order to woo
Marlowe, but to no avail. For example, in the first encounter with Philip Marlowe, she wore pale
blue slacks, with the pale blue color associated closely with that of a newborn baby, showing that
her character is one that is trying to give off a sense of childishness (5). Not only is she seen
constantly giggling but she also uses elementary words such as cute, furthering her agenda of trying
to act like a little girl.

The Princess And The Frog Comparison
The Princess and the Frog and Frozen are both major Disney successes. They teach golden
morals and important life lessons. But they did not originate as such. These stories began as a
Brother Grimm s fairy tale and a Hans Christian Andersen fairy tale, dark and harsh were the
only feelings they portrayed. While there are a few parallels between the two versions, much of
them is different because of the period it was written. The morals of The Grimm Brothers time
and that of 2000 s Disney is quite different. The Frog King by the Grimm Brothers was originally
published in German in 1812. It was the story of a young, beautiful princess that adored playing
with a golden ball. One day as she is tossing the ball around, it falls into a nearby well. The
princess is distraught, and her weeping draws the attention of a frog. The frog promises the
princess he can retrieve the golden ball, but only for something in exchange. The princess offers her

The Development And Development Of The Greek And Greek Empire
The Roman Republic and Empire was one of the largest civilisations in the world. A significant
question posed is how and why did the Roman Republic and Empire develop in the ways they
did and interact with the Persian and Greek/Hellenic Empires? At the height of the Roman
Empire it spanned across western Europe, and encompassed the entire Mediterranean. Lasting
and developing through thousands of years, the Romans encountered and interacted with the
Persian and Greek/Hellenic Empires. This included trading, co existing, and going to war with
one another. Although, originally the Roman Republic and Empire was first founded by the
Etruscan people. Established in 753 BCE by a Etruscan colony on the River Tiber in Italy, the
city was controlled by Etruscan Kings until 509 BCE. Whence the people rose up against the
monarchy to establish the Roman Republic, and fought for control of central Italy for the next
30 years. (Dr David Lundberg, 2017, pp.6 7) Thus the Roman Republic became a contending
force in Western Europe, and across the Mediterranean for the next 450 years. (J.M.Roberts Odd
Arne Westad, 2013, p.218) Instead of a king, two consuls and an assembly of elected magistrates
were installed to rule the Roman Republic. Before a new set of consuls, and new magistrates were
elected by the citizens each year. Additionally, legislative and consultative bodies were elected as
Tribunes of the people, who managed the affairs of the government and managed conflicts that arose

Acute Treatment Of Acute Kidney Injury
Acute kidney injury (AKI, previously referred to as acute renal failure) is a common and serious
condition particularly among hospitalized patients with acute illness and those undergoing major
surgery. It can be life threatening but it can also be reversible. Clinically AKI is characterized by
abrupt loss of kidneyfunction resulting in a rapid decline in the glomerular filtration rate
(GFR),water and electrolytes imbalance, and accumulation of nitrogenous wastes such as blood
urea nitrogen and creatinine.
Epidemiology of AKI
The mortality rate of AKI is very high (up to 80% mortality in critically ill children and
adults). The incidence rate of AKI has increased in hospitalized patients gradually from 4.9% in
1983 [1] to 20% in 2012 [2].There are more than 35 definitions of AKI [3] which makes the
incidence rate varies greatly due to the lack of a standard and Definition. The Acute Dialysis
Quality Initiative (ADQI) published (RIFLE) criteria (Risk, Injury, Failure, Loss, End Stag) in
2004 (table1).
Pathophysiology:
In order to study a biomarker of AKI, It is very important to understand the early response
mechanism of the kidney to acute injury. AKI results from multiple causative factors which are
classified as pre renal (ischemia, hypovalemia), renal(toxins, drugs, infection and inflammation of
the kidney e.g glomerulonephritis and acute tubular necrosis) and post renal (obstruction e.g Acute
obstructive uropathy, benign prostatic hyperplasia and kidney stone). This

one of the most common approaches to organizing a family enterprise is a circle of relatives

FLP is represented with the aid of FLP gadgets, which can be equal to shares in an enterprise in

the fact the devices may be discounted because of regulations on their disposition and due to the

Spina Bifida is a neural tube defect that is present at birth. It is thought to be caused by a folic acid
deficiency in the first month of pregnancy. This disease can be either symptomatic or
asymptomatic. There are three types of Spina Bifida including: Spina Bifida Occulta, Spina Bifida
Meningocele, and Spina Bifida Myelomeningocele. The main treatment for Spina Bifida is surgery
that occurs right after birth to close the spinal opening and could include several more surgeries
throughout the child s life.
Spina Bifida Occulta is usually asymptomatic. It could be undetected for years, and only found
via diagnostic procedures for another diagnosis completely. It may also present as a sacral
dimple or a small patch of hair on the infants back at birth. People diagnosed with Spina Bifida
Occulta can lead a normal life without interference of the disease. There is usually no treatment
needed for this form of Spina Bifida. (Mayo Clinic Staff, 2014)

Research Question and Research Hypothesis Our question for this study is Are molded cleats faster
than detachable cleats on grass surface? We hypothesize that molded cleats will produce a better 40
yard dash time that detachable cleats due the weight difference between molded and detachable
cleats.
Operational Definitions For our research study, the term molded cleats means, a shoe with a cleat
attached to the bottom that can t be removed. The cleats are molded to the bottom of the shoe.
When the cleats wear out, it can no longer be worn. Another term for our study is detachable cleat.
A detachable cleat is a shoe with cleats on the bottom that can be taken out at any time at replaced.
These cleats are normally more durable and a bit heavier.

Social Media Communication And The Power Of Online...
In the world of technology communication has become easier than ever. The world has now
shrunk from a vast populated land to a network of communicating individuals living in a global
village. People from all over the globe have come closer together and distances have decreased to
the extent that an individual is merely a click away.
In this ever growing network of people a new theory has emerged, the idea of 6 degrees of
separation. The idea behind this is that between you and any another person in the world is only a
chain no longer than six people. This emphasizes the significance of online communication and the
way it has made the world a whole lot smaller.
This is the power of social media and the developments in online communication. A happening in
one part of the world reaches to the second part in a matter of seconds. Imagine if that news or
happening was about you. The significance of this technology is the ease it provides. Using this
tool to your advantage can give you a large number of benefits.
Social Media Marketing brings global fame to your name.
This is your ticket to international level fame. Your company or your name could be known

the stricter expectations of female behaviour. The Lady s Magazine, in which the exposГ© of
Thornton appeared, was the first to survive any length of time. It was issued monthly and

By the early nineteenth century, newspapers were an integral part of daily life for both men and
women. Both sexes would have read about Thornton s story in the newspaper. While it is clear
that women read newspapers, the size of the female readership remains extremely unclear . It
was this female readership that the articulators of separate spheres ideology were concerned
with reaching. The basic premise of the separate spheres was that the public sphere of political
life and employment was naturally the space of men and the domestic sphere of the home was
the realm of women. The conscious articulation of this idea in the media of the nineteenth century
was the product of fears of societal instability, of which the breakdown of familial and sexual
order became a striking metaphor . Domestic magazines and newspapers worked to create and
proliferate a baseline of acceptable behaviour for women and offered definitions of what would be

or drawing, it is the projection one s creativity and ideas to the public. Art is emotions cast by
individuals. Art isn t one idea. Art is everlasting, and will be constantly changing from period to
period. There isn t one time or place that did not encounter art throughout history. Art isn t right or
wrong, it is completely up to the individual. Art is different intensities, some may have bold a
hue, while others have a dulled one. These are some of the qualities that art does or does not
posses. What I attribute to a good piece of art is different

The Importance Of Memory And Short Term Memory
Memory to be process by which we encode, store and retrieve information. Each of the three parts
of this definition, encoding, storage, and retrieval represents a different process. You can think od
these processes as being analogous to a computer s emotion (encoding), hard drive (storage), and
software that accesses the information for display on the screen.
A momentary flash of lightning the sound of the twig snapping and the sting of a pinprick all
represent stimulation of exceedingly brief duration but the may nonetheless provide important
information that can require a response. Such stimuli are initially and fleetingly stored I sensory
memory the first repository of the information the world present to us. Sensory memory can store
information for only a very short time if information does not pass into short term memory it is lost
for good.
The information that is stored briefly in sensory memory consists of representations of raw sensory
stimuli it is not meaningful to us. If we are too make sense of it and possibly retain it the
information must be transferred to the stage of memory. Short term memory is the memory store in
which information first has meaning although the maximum length of retention there is relatively
short... (Hamilton Martin, 2007; prime jolicoeur 2010).

information that can be held in short term memory has been identified as seven items or chunks of

Abuse And Evil In Michael Jackson s Thriller Music Videos
Music videos are often seen as the parts of the song s story that an artist has trouble putting into
words. Sometimes these details are unnoticeable at first glance, while some are essential to giving
us vital information on what the song is actually about. Michael Jackson s famous Thriller music
video is often viewed as a Halloween binge watching classic, but judging by both the visual and
audio components, it may be more than just a crowd of dancing zombies. There are quite a few
moments throughout the video that can easily be seen as symbolisms of abuse, stalking, and rape/
sex. By viewing the Thriller music videowith this thought in mind, I hope to help you see the true
evil lurking in the dark. Abuse and stalking are actually pretty common amongst couples that are
considered normal by society. When I say normal, I mean in a sense that both partners in the
relationship do not have any serious mental health issues that often trigger both abusive or
stalking habits on people they know or care about. Professor Mary E. Odem, author of
Confronting Rape and Sexual Assault, states, Indeed, other research has found that fewer than 5
percent of men were psychotic when they raped (110). Odem explains that the assumptions of rape
being a mental disease is false, and that the only main thing that made some rapists stand out was
the fact they were considered highly sexually aggressive. For the most part, a rapist could pretty
much be anyone. The video starts off with a

Villers-Bretonneux Battle Analysis
2. Introduction
This was a vital, ferocious, do or die attack, and as long as the night advance lasted, no quarter
was shown (Australian government, 2015). The second battle of Villers Bretonneux was a battle
situated in the town of Villers Bretonneux in the Picardy region of Northern France. It took place
on the 24th and 25th of April 1918 exactly 3 years after the Gallipoli landings.
3. The purpose of the battle
The purpose of the battle was to take back the town of Villers Bretonneux after the Germans broke
British lines to take the town in the morning of the 24th of April. The town was seen as a strategic
position for attacking the major town of Amiens.

Examples Of Morality In Anthem
Morality in Anthem Society is lost and no one is individual. Since birth, it is no longer I but we

empowering first line, one that strikes the reader immediately and sparks their curiosity to
possibly read on. This first line It is a sin to write this, (Rand 17) is a unique opening line that
sets the plot for this entire story and ends with a full circle once the reader has reached the very

I understood the blessed thing which I had called my curse. (Rand 98). Furthermore, Equality

by the elders or the scholars. I understood why the best in me had been my sins not my

Henry Wadsworth Longfellow Poem
Into each life some rain must fall ( The Rainy Day ). Henry Wadsworth Longfellow was a writer
and a poet who wrote about death often. In his life, he was given an honorary doctorate of Laws
from Harvard. The famous poet died at the age of 75 from severe stomach pains on Friday,
March 24. 1882. He left behind a trail of legacies. He was one of the most popular figures in
America and Europe. He was buried next to his two wives in Mount Auburn Cemetery. Henry
Wadsworth Longfellow, an American writer, used his life and philosophical ideas to write poetry
about nature, death, and emotions.
Henry Longfellow grew up in a life where he was expected to follow in his father s footsteps but
broke away to poetry instead. At the age of fifteen, in 1822, Longfellow attended Bowdoin College
in Brunswick, Maine, along the side of his brother, Stephen H. His grandfather being the founder

Henry had a way of tying things going on in society, his personal life, and emotions in his poetry.
He wrote the poem, Paul Revere s Ride, which describes the night of April 18, 1775. The poem is
not indeed spot on with the actual event because the actual event of Paul Revere s Ride was over
a hundred years older than Longfellow. The poem starts off in Boston, Massachusetts, where Paul
and a friend are speaking with one another about the British Army. The two men think that the
soldiers are going to leave boston later that night but they are having trouble knowing whether or
not they will go by sea or by land. Paul Revere has a plan to warn the people, but he needs to

the direction. Longfellow wrote this poem, not to inform another person about the ride but to help

Schizoid Personality Disorder Research Paper
Schizoid Personality Disorder Psychiatrists recognize a variety of personality disorders based on
different patterns of behavior and cognition. While all such conditions are distinguished by
general negative influence on a person s life, each of them is characterized by a specific set of
symptoms. The purpose of this paper is to describe schizoid personality disorder. In the
beginning, it is necessary to define the condition in question. According to the Diagnostic and
Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, schizoid personality disorder falls under Cluster A of
personality disorders with the primary distinctive feature being odd or eccentric behavior, and the
formal definition goes as follows: a pattern of detachment from social relationships and a
restricted range of emotional expression (American Psychiatric Association, 2013, p. 645). To
satisfy the diagnostic criteria for this disorder, a person should demonstrate at least four of the
following patterns: 1) no desire or enjoyment of close relationships; 2) strong preference for
solitary activities; 3) little or no interest in sexual experiences with another person; 4) taking

Sass and Schwarte indicate several possible factors that contribute to the development of the
schizoid personality disorder: genetic, neurobiological, and sociocultural (2006, p. 131). For
example, psychodynamic approach names inadequacies in earliest relationships with parental
figures as the source of further maladaptive behavior (Sass Schwarte, 2006, p. 131). At the same
time, the study conducted by Esterberg et al. provides findings that suggest the presence of a
biological vulnerability and show a link between exposure to stressful life events and the progress
of the condition (2010, p. 521). In all, there seems to be no single cause leading to the emergence
of schizoid personality disorder, but rather a combination of a number of different

Swimming Moment Essay
Finally! I did it! I did something I never thought I would be able to do. I m now able to do a flip
turn for swimming. When I was younger, about third or fourth grade, I was in competitive
swimming. At the beginning of each season, we would review basics, strokes, kicks, turns, and
many other fundamentals. I was never able to do a flip turn against the wall. It wasn t until I had
gone off to the side with an instructor for a few days and worked at it until I got it. I was in
swimmingfor three years with, of course, multiple years of swimming lessons. I loved
swimming. The only part I hated was the flip turns off the wall. I struggled for so long before I
was capable of doing it. It took me at least a week working off to the side with an instructor. The
instructor would guide me through each motion. We started off by counting how many strokes it
took me to get to the wall from a certain point in the pool. We did it a few times just to make sure
our numbers were accurate. Then, she had me take about two strokes and just focus on getting

anyway. I worked harder and harder every day until I had finally succeeded. After putting in all

thankful for those instructors taking their time to step aside to help me perfect my turn. After
struggling for the longest time, I was finally capable of doing a flip turn. I pushed myself so I
could accomplish a task that I would have considered challenging at the time. All it takes is some
time and faith. A person could do a lot more than what they think they can if they push themselves,
have the mindset that they can do it, and just put some time and effort into it. As Heather Stillufsen

Foucault, Femininity And The Modernization Of Patriarchal...
In Foucault, Femininity, and the Modernization of Patriarchal Power, Sandra Bartky utilizes
Michel Foucault s concepts about power to help explain femininity. Throughout the article, she
details how society forces women to fit within the confines of this construct and how it affects them.
Sandra Bartky begins her piece by explaining Michel Foucault s ideas about modern power
dynamics. Unlike in the past, power in modern society focuses not only on controlling the products
of the body but, rather, on governing all its activities. In order for this power to continue, people
are disciplined into becoming docile bodies which are subjected and practiced (Bartky, 63). This
discipline is imposed through constant surveillance in a manner similar to the Panopticon. Inmates
in said prison are always visible to a guard in the central tower, so they mentally coerced into
monitoring their own behavior. In the same way, individuals become their own jailers and subject
themselves to the society s whim due to being in a state of conscious and permanent visibility to
its all seeing eye (65). Bartky, however, breaks from Foucault s theory by claiming that there is a
clear difference in the disciplines imposed on men and women that are ignored in the latter s
writings.
Bartky posits that neither women nor men are born feminine or masculine; they are disciplined into
those molds. She delineates three categories of disciplinary practices that produce feminine women.
The first she

Effects Of Extracurricular Activities Essay
Extracurricular activities refer to activities that provide opportunities for students to develop
specific skills or knowledge, and take place outside of school hours. Extracurricular activities offer
experiences of teamwork and support the development of many social, cognitive, and physical skills
of the students. By joining extracurricular activities, the students learn to manage their time, relieve
stress and learn to strive for excellence in more than one thing.
Extracurricular activities are found in all levels of our schools in many different forms. They can be

The positive effects that extracurricular activities have on students are behavior, better grades,
school completion, positive aspects to become successful adults, and a social aspect (Massoni,
2011). Students that actively participate in extracurricular activities have reduced behavior
problems. The students who participate in extracurricular will show good self discipline. They also
have responsibility to perform the task correctly. When students perform these things correctly, they
are rewarded for their good behavior and they take pride in their accomplishments. Because of the
pride they achieve, they gain better self respect, self esteem, and self confidence.
The other effect of extracurricular activities for students is the social aspect. Students that are
involved in extracurricular activities meet many new people. By joining extracurricular activities,
the students will meet people that they share interests with. In extracurricular activities, students
also learn about group work, and sometimes they end up having less conformity to gender

bottom line of any negotiation is to reach a settlement that will mutually benefit both parties. It s a

It was interesting, frustrating, and a unique experience. The project required keeping an open mind
and approaching the simulation with an integrative approach. However, all parties involved in the
negotiation process must take into consideration this same approach. Additionally, trust between
management and labor union is beneficial. Trust can be a slippery thing when it comes to

In fact, they could increase their debt to a 50 per cent debt to total assets ratio and still manage
their interest payments (interest coverage = 3.017) as long as they do not suffer sustained

above the benchmark between 0.5% and 2% (Koller et al, 2005). However, according to trade

distress will offset the tax shield. It is therefore important to evaluate which level of debt to total
assets ratio is optimal. Torstar could face problems in paying their short term obligations as well

that it could mitigate both agency, overconfidence and optimism problems since it reduces the
cash available to management. Thus, paying higher dividends will constrain Torstar s managers
from the questionable acquisitions in the CSEP segment. By using dividends, shareholders will
gain cash which they can invest in other public pure plays , hence the shareholders can diversify
their own risk. It is also a way for Torstar to signal stabile cash flows, increased past earnings and
expected sustainable future earnings. The market could however interpret an increase in dividends

Classifying Sentences In The Hate U Give By Angie Thomas
Objective: At the end of this lesson, students will be able to classify sentences according to their
type of sentence structure.

Today, we are going to learn how to analyze sentences and classify them according to their sentence
structure using the book The Hate U Give by Angie Thomas. First, we will be looking at the
different type of sentences that the writer uses in her writing. Then, we will use some of these
sentences to learn how to classify a sentence as simple, compound, complex, or compound complex.

Throughout the book An Inquiry into the Nature and Causes of the Wealth of Nations, Adam
Smith uses the term commercial society rather than more accustomed words like capitalism.
Smith explains what he means by this term, is when the division of labour has been once
thoroughly established, it is but a small part of a man s want which the produce of his own
labour can supply. He supplies the far greater part of them by exchanging that surplus part of the
produce of his own labour, which is over and above his own consumption, for such parts of the
produce of other s men s labour as he has occasion for. Every man thus lives by exchanging, or
becomes in some measure a merchant, and the society itself grows to be what is properly a
commercial society (Smith, 2003, p. 37).
He was trying to say is that commercial society is a civilization where everyone is a merchant: a
dealer, trader, and seller. Throughout the book, Smith starts having an agreement and disagreement
on commercial society, which is a commercial society deforms human nature. However, continuing
reading his book, there are more benefits of a commercial society than the drawbacks. A
commercial society does not damage human nature, instead improves human nature by acting on
one s self interest to bring positive benefits to society, connects and aids members of society
together through trade and

In pg 76, the philosophy of Romanticism can be inferred from her reaction after reading the
letter and getting as drunk as a monkey the night before her wedding, leaving her in a state of
confusion and anguish. This leaves her deciding in what to do, which then she marries Tom.
Eventually, she regrets taking this decision after having the choice of having either one. Another
example of Romanticism represented by her, is when she cries after Gatsby shows his variety of
shirts in pg. 92. Again, Daisy falls into Gatsby s trap of him trying to impress her with his
wealth. After 5 years lost, she begins to regret marrying Tom, and wishing she had spent that
time with Gatsby, which was impossible to do, caused by Gatsby s time in war and studies in
Oxford. This reunion in Gatsby s mansion, makes both of them fantasize that they are together
and makes them believe that there is still hope to live together happily as a couple. From here,
they begin to have affairs and this makes the romance and belief stronger, which then leads to
Gatsby accepting to face the problem: Tom. He believes that things must be done the respectful
way by talking to him like adults, but Daisy opposes that idea. Here, Daisy shows Romanticism
again, while Gatsby is being realistic. Unfortunately, the confrontation between the love triangle
leads to Gatsby s assassination after Myrtle, Tom s mistress and George Wilson s wife, is hit by

Thoughts on Being Humble
What is the purpose of being humble, when should we be humble, and is being humble overrated?
Do people only dislike other people for being cocky because they doubt themselves?
Personally, I do not mind it much when people brag about what they have achieved or have done.
More often than not, I know they never intentionally mean any harm by doing so. Why should I
mind? They re only excited about their life, right?
It is always easy to remain humble when everything is good and dandy, but the moment someone
criticizes them, they tend to withdraw, especially if the person criticizing does so in a tone which
may not be soothing enough.
I know people who swear on their lives they are humble, yet, they are not. They are so deep in ...

We must strive to remember how to behave during tough situations.
In contrast, I can understand why it isn t a good idea to be humble also. In other countries,
people tend to be less direct, or more humble during business or discussions. America tends to be
more direct, and if people who tend to be more direct are less understanding and less able to
recognize one who is less direct during a conversation, we must remember that there is a potential
that the humble person may be perceived as a weak individual, whether it be physically, mentally,
or via business.
I propose we be humble, confident, and persistent. We can prove ourselves to ourselves by
consistently making things happen by REMEMBERING to take positive action. Let us advance in
life by remembering to remain humble during proper moments because it is those moments which
shape our destiny.
Being humble is the same as having a student mentality, and it is much more difficult to learn when
we lack a student mentality. We simply become less receptive to knowledge.
Also, you may want to keep in mind that cockiness and talking about what you want to do may
cause people to resent you, and people often do not like to see cocky or arrogant individuals rise
above levels which they themselves have yet to achieve. It is easier to rise above when we remain
humble because people will like us better.
Another good reason to be humble is because we never know when the tables

Pros And Cons Of Stopping Child Labour
Child Labour as defined by the International Labour Organisation, work that deprives children of
their childhood, their potential and their dignity, and that is harmful to physical and mental
development. This includes interference with their schooling. Child Labour in extreme forms
also involves children being separated from their families, exposed to serious hazards and despises
or left to fend for themselves on the streets of large cities at an early age. (ILO, n.d.). In Cote d
Ivoire, a major child labour form is agriculture where children as young as five work in Cocoa

Examples of actions that could be taken include funding for schools, monitoring of cocoa
plantations, spreading awareness of the cruelty of child labour to households.
However, there are many pros and cons to consider of the implications if child labour were to be
stopped, from the different perspectives of the different stakeholders involved.
The pros will be first discussed. Stopping child labour in Cote d Ivoire would definitely help the
children to be free from physical and mental scars. Child labour, according to various research,
will leave physical and especially psychological scars on the children involved. These scars are
caused by abusive actions by plantation owners, especially those who require the children to
complete an exaggerated amount of work before they get to rest or eat their meals. (Hawksley,
2011).Even if they eventually get out of this cycle and be free from child labour when they grow
up, the scars take a long time, or may never heal. This deprives them of their whole life s success.
Thus, putting an end to child labour will save many lives by allowing these children to experience

Characteristics Of Batman
Batman a true American hero There are numerous things that can construct an American hero in
today s society, maybe they are really strong, intelligent or they are just a tremendous role model
plenty of people believe that heroes require superpowers in order to be a true superhero, but not
necessarily heroes could occasionally just be an ordinary everyday person like a firefighter,
policeman, EMT or someone like a veteran or maybe even for some people their herojust might be
their mother, father, aunt, uncle or grandparents. Batmansymbolizes American heroism because he
is courageous, intelligente and he has both physical and mental strength. The first reason Batman
shows that he is an American hero is because he shows that he is courageous. For example
Batman shows he is courageous when he allows the Joker to handcuff him and put him into a

One can only assume that Chipotle uses concentration strategies for their corporate level strategies,
because they only concentrate on the restaurant industry. Market penetration and market
development is their main focus, as they are attracting new customers as they increase brand
awareness through their business strategies and their Food With Integrity campaign, Farmed and
Dangerous live action story telling comedy series, and Cultivate Foundation, which is a non profit
organization supporting sustainable agriculture, family farming and food education, and they are
expanding into new markets with international expansion, so Chipotle can continue to change the
way people think about and eat fast food (Chipotle, 2015). Chipotle also, uses product development
, but not as aggressively as market penetration. The most recent product development is a meat
alternative made from tofu, called Sofritas . Chipotle is highly invested in Pizzeria Locale,
suggesting the possibility of horizontal integration in the near future, and is using an adjacent
strategy with its sister restaurant ShopHouse Southeast Asian

Normal Heart Rate Chart
Normal Heart Rate Chart
The heart is an organ located just behind and slightly to the left of the breastbone, and pumps blood
through a network of veins and arteries known as the circulatory system. The right atrium is sent
blood from the veins, and delivers it to the right ventricle. It is then pumped to the lungs where it is
oxygenated. The left atrium collects the oxygen enriched blood from the lungs and delivers it to the
left ventricle, where it is pumped throughout the body, and the ventricle contractions create blood
pressure.
A pulse is the beating of the heart as it is felt through the walls of an artery, such as the radial artery
at the wrist. Pulse rates can also be felt and measured at the carotid artery located on the side of ...

Heart Rate During Exercise
Your maximum heart rate is the highest heart rate that is achieved during strenuous exercise. One
method to calculate your approximate maximum heart rate is the formula: 220 (your age) =
approximate maximum heart rate. For example, a 30 year old s approximate maximum heart rate
is 220 30 = 190 beats/min.
You can maximize the benefits and reduce the risks when you are exercising within your target
heart rate zone. Your target heart rate when exercising is normally 60 to 80 percent of your
maximum heart rate. This may be increased or decreased depending on your health factors, and
your health care provider may want you to limit the target heart rate zone to 50 percent. However,
it is not recommended to exceed 85 percent of your maximum heart rate. Anything above 85 percent
increase risks to the orthopedic and cardiovascular system, with minimal added benefits from the
exercise.
Normal Maximum and Target Heart Rate Chart
The following table shows the approximate target heart rates for various age groups. Find the age
group closest to your age and find your target heart rate. The guidelines for moderately intense
activities is about 50 69% of your maximum heart rate, and hard physical activity is about 70% to
less than 90% of the maximum heart

History of the Development of Computers Essay
DEVELOPMENT OF COMPUTERS
As we are stepping towards the era of 2020, man have consistently been innovative and creative in
developing and improving technology for various sectors to make the world a better place for us to
live in. If we look closely today, the development of IT and Computer sector and its application have
greatly influenced various other sectors like telecommunication, transport, agriculture, labour,
finance, etc to be more efficient and effective at their work.
Computers have created a drastic impact in our lives. In fact we are so dependent on computers that

It was designed to be used to perform basic arithmetic operations. Every computer supports some
form of input, processing as well as output. In a modern computer, these processing is done
electronically hence enabling a vastly greater number of calculation to be performed in lesser time.
Binary codes which are representations of numerical numbers were used to process images, sounds,
text and graphic. In digital computers, there are ones and zeros that represents the electrical on and
off states and endless combinations of those to process any input.
Moving on, the development of computer can be assessed from two perspectives. One
perspective would be the invention of hardware components over time like vacuum tubes,
transistors, integrated circuits and microprocessors that can be referred to as a generation of
change. In the other hand, another perspective would be how user friendly were the computers
over a period of time. In the 1950s the computers were almost impossible to use except by very
patient geniuses. Next in the 1960s and 1970s, it could only be programmable by highly trained
people. Lastly, from the 1980s till present time the computers are now smaller cheaper and useable
by just about anyone.
From the hardware development perspective, the first generation of computer was the Electronic
Numerical Integrator And Computer (ENIAC). These first electronic computers used vacuum tubes.

Essay
Earlier in the semester, the class was introduced to topics such as politics within Children s
Literature and learning how to be cultural critics. Both topics generated discussion that was
centered around the contributions that were made within Children s Literature and how they could
deepen young reader s understanding of the content presented to them in children books. I believe
the book The Sneetches and Other Stories by Dr. Seuss would ve been a great addition to the class
reading list. In this book, Dr. Seuss discussed topics such as discrimination, prejudice, acceptance,
and tolerance which are all topics people wouldn t think are suitable for a children s book. The
themes were used as underlying messages throughout the story and the illustration presented a
visual to readers, so that they could have a clear understanding of what Dr. Seuss was writing.
The importance of the message was to bring awareness to the issues that are present within
society. Other stories include The Zax , Too Many Daves , and What Was I Scared Of? . These
stories all contribute to reaching out to help young readers analyze and further understand others
who may not always be the same as them. In Dr. Suess s The Zax , one Zax was going North and
one South but because of pride neither one moved to accommodate the other out of respect. Too
Many Daves highlights the lack of originality. It teaches children to stand out, make a difference.

Character Analysis Of Raymond Carver s Cathedral
Character Analysis in Raymond Carver s Cathedral : The Narrator Literature has the potential to act
as a mirror by presenting people s lived experiences, expectations, and perceptions through
characters. Such is what can be deciphered through the analysis of different characters in Raymond
Carver s story Cathedral. This paper focuses on the narrator of the story portrayed by the author as
blind, which is used metaphorically not to imply physical blindness, but the inability to have
reasoned judgment others referred to as lack of emotional intelligence. The presentation of the
narrator, as a fallible individual, contributes to the development of the theme and plot of the story

I don t have any blind friends, I said.
You don t have any friends, she said. (Carver 3)
The conversation portrays that the narrator lives a secluded and solitary life, and has resorted to
seeking to conform through drinking a lot of scotch and smoking marijuana.
This point of view is corroborated in Kirk Nesset s article called Insularity and Self Enlargement in
Raymond Carver s Cathedral, who observes that Raymond Carver s fiction is characterized by
characters that tend toward insularity and isolation. (16) The narrator s solitary life can be
attributed to their behavior of profiling and stereotype other people. For instance, he thinks that
Beulah, the blind man s late wife, was a woman of color by her name
I didn t answer. She d told me a little about the blind man s wife. Her name was Beulah. Beulah!
That s a name for a colored woman.
Was his wife a Negro? I asked.

hit the floor, then roll under the stove. What s wrong with you? she said. Are you

on that by taking it one step further and making a frequency table using pretzel sticks. They are
going to use their desk to create a frequency table using their dry erase markers and pretzel sticks.
Walk them through how to draw it using the illustration below for clarity. They will need to fill
in the types of pies before being given the data; you can use the types of pies that are listed in the
book on page 12, or you can have the class fill it in with 4 different types of pies. After they have
drawn their table, they will need to fill it in. Give them the following data: First row (whatever
type of pie you decided) 8, second row 4, third row 11, fourth row 5. As you give them each
number, they need to fill in the tally section with that number of pretzel sticks; the fifth pretzel
stick should sit diagonally across the other pretzel sticks just like regular tally marks. Once they
have all their tally marks, have them write the numerical total for each row in the last column.
b.For Dot Plot (found on page 13): The students are going to use their desk again to create a dot

Lake Placid Narrative
It was going to be an exciting and thrilling weekend in the Miracle Village. The Miracle village
also known as Lake Placid is where the 1980 Winter Olympics were held. Eight times in history
the United States have hosted the Olympics. Lake Placid had a deep history in American Sports.
My family and I were in Lake Placid to watch Madeline, my sister, play for the girls U18 National
Hockey team. They were going to play 3 games against Canada. Every hockey player in America
knows that the 1980 Winter Olympics are not just any ordinary Olympics. The men s USA
hockey team won the gold medal. Just like Rudy in the movie Rudy, they were the underdogs. It
was the experience of a life time being in the same ice arena where the underdogs won their gold

We passed a waterfall that was crashing down against the clear blue lake. The lake was a puddle
that casted a reflection of the bright sun. It took a long drive to get there, but once we got there
it was sunny and bright. We brought up our loads of clothing and then went down to the beach
on Mirror lake. There was boundaries on the beach of where you could go. The boundaries were
marked with a rope and buoys. We had not known about those boundaries, so we crossed them.
Each time we crossed them we would get yelled and whistled at. We saw a rock that was
underwater. We really wanted to go explore it, so we ended up being complete rebels. We would
hold our breath underwater and go explore the rock, and once we ran out of breathe would swim
as quickly as we could up to the rope and pull ourselves inbounds. It was fun swimming, but we
got tired very quickly. We headed back to the hotel, and took a

Paper Chromatography Lab
This experiment demonstrated the separation of pigments based on relative polarity and proved to
be a substantial way to separate compounds. The results were much like that of an experiment
performed, which separated carbohydrates in a very similar method with the use of paper
chromatography (Inome, Y., Yamamoto, A.). Proper pipetting technique, which is described by
John Husler, was also demonstrated in this experiment. The technique was followed as to prevent
contamination and deliver the right amount of solution each time (John Husler: 1983).
The use of paper chromatography to separate plant pigments from spinach leaves worked very well.
The pigments were separated into five distinguishable groups and were then placed in solution. As

that s why Android should Be the platform that everyone uses in the world and Never get fooled
by Apples great marketing. My first reason, Nexus has some of the best priced phone. For a Nexus

opinion since the Buzz feed people on both sides of the debate of Apple vs. Windows computer

Invasive Types Of Invasive Species
Kho, Park What is an invasive species? Invasive species are plants, animal, fungi and bacteria
that are non native to the ecosystem around it. There are three different category of invasive
species. The three are category are invasive animal species, invasive fungus species, and last
invasive plant species. You can classify invasive plant by seeing if it is from the region or
area.Well, an invasive plant has the ability to thrive and spread aggressively outside its natural
range. This means that they are able to adapt to it surrounding very easily. A naturally aggressive
plant may be especially invasive when it is introduced to a new habitat. Some invasive plants are
worse than others. For example, like the witchweed, or even tall grass. When invasive plants like
ivy or clematis dominate the groundcover, there is very little root structure to bind the soils. That
s why large areas dominated by invasive plants are more likely to erode during flood events than
areas with a diverse understory of trees and shrubs, which provide more root structure diversity.
Invasive Plants can cause declines in native plants and animal numbers (www.portlandoregon.gov).
For example, if a strong animal came in, such as a lion and ate most of the weakest living things
there are, then it can have a huge affect on the other kinds of living animals around it this has the
same effect with plants. For example, the kudzu plant

  • 2. Triangular Number Of Triangular Numbers Triangular Numbers Eli Nazarian Ms. Ramson H Algebra 2A October 21, 2014 A triangular number is a number that counts the amount of objects that form when they are put together to form an equilateral triangle (a triangle with all equal sides). The most common object used to form a triangle are dots. When the dots create an equilateral triangle, the number of dots seen in the triangle represent the triangular number. Overall, the sequence is generated from a pattern of dots which form a triangle. The first row contains a single dot and each subsequent row contains more dots than the previous one. The sequence of triangular numbers are: 1, 3, 6,10, 15, 21... and so on. When working with multiple triangles, each triangle is assigned a triangle number. For example, triangle one (T1) has a triangular number of one. Triangle three has a triangular number of six. The letter T, followed but a number represents a certain triangle. The formula to calculate the amount of object using a stated length is: Tn(th)= n(n+1) 2 T represents triangle number. N represents the length of the three sides of the equilateral triangle. If a number (and only whole numbers) were plugged in for N. The final answer of the problem would equal the number objects (dots) in the equilateral triangle. Example: n= length of 6Formula: Tnth= n(n+1) 2 Plug in 6 for n. T6th=6(6+1) 2 Solve.T6th= 6(7)T6th=42T6th=21. 22 The ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Prophets To many Christians the Prophets are seen as being predictors of the Messiah, but it can be argued that one can take any tidbit of information from a source (not just the bible) and use it, whether within context or out of context, to support one s argument. In my opinion, as far as the prophets are concerned, just because the prophets seem to predict the coming of the Messiah because of the parallels that have been drawn between the books of the prophets and the New Testament does not necessarily mean that they were able to predict the future it means that the New Testament authors such as Matthew had either heard or could refer back to the writings of the Old Testamentprophets such as Isaiah, Micah, and Hosea. The problem is not that the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... For example, Hosea names two of his children Lo ruhmah and Lo ammi. As Borg points out, these are Hebrew phrases that mean not pitied and not my people . Borg also points out that the names represent a threat because the days are coming when Israel will be not pitied and not my (God s) people . Chapter two of Hosea describes a divorce which seems to represent the end of the covenant between God and the Northern Kingdom a symbolic act where by the divorce of Hosea from Gamer for infidelity represents God s rejection of the Northern Kingdom. In typical fashion, though, Hosea ends this prophecy with the declaration that God will one day renew the covenant and will take back Israel. Another example of the allegory in Hosea is in chapter three when Hosea seeks out Gomer again. Either she sold herself into slavery because of debt or she is with someone who demands money in order to give her up because Hosea has to buy her back. Even after he takes her name though he refrains from having sex with her for a while to symbolize the fact that Israel will be without a King for many years but that God will take Israel back even at a cost to him. Now back to the theme of social justice and the book of Amos...as Borg points our in his chapter on Reading the prophets again , and so it can be found in the bible, Amos speaks out against the wealthy for their exploitation of the poor. As Borg puts it, he paints vivid and compelling pictures of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Establishment Republicans Are Not Sniggering Establishment Republicans are not sniggering at Donald Trump s antics anymore, especially as he threatens to go solo in November if party insiders scheme to deny him the nomination. Echoes of similarly irate conservative Teddy Roosevelt and his Bull Moose party sinking the Republican (GOP) national campaign in 1912 get louder every time Trump wins a primary state. After the real estate mogul announced his candidacy in June last year, party leaders contentedly sat back in the peanut gallery ridiculing his naked attempts at demagoguery. Later, they dismissed Trump s surging poll numbers as an electoral blip sparked by fringe sections of the party base that loathed the GOP s handling of Congress. Moreover, they believed Trump s novelty act as the outsider would soon wear out and make GOP voters collectively come to their senses and coalesce behind either Marco Rubio or Jeb Bush, the party s blue eyed boys. This cocksure feeling has now given way to one of dread as Trump keeps notching victories in the primary season. A new Rasmussen poll puts Trump 15 points clear of closest rival Ted Cruz. More worryingly, 24% of Trump s base will very likely vote for him if he runs as an independent, effectively torching GOP hopes of preventing a Democratic three peat in the White House. Republican rivals have tried ganging up on Trump in debates, running attack ads to discredit him but nothing really stuck so the establishment is changing tack. Influential leaders of the conservative ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Clifford Geertz Religion As A Cultural System Summary Clifford Geertz, in his essay Religion as a Cultural System , presents what he considers to be the definition of religion. According to him, religion is about symbols and people use these symbols as a guide for their view of the world and how they should behave in that world. Religion, states Geertz is a system of symbols which acts to establish powerful, pervasive, and long lasting moods and motivations in men by formulating conceptions of a general order of existence and clothing these conceptions with such an aura of factuality that the moods and motivations seem uniquely realistic (Geertz, The Interpretation of Cultures, page 90). What he is trying to do in this essay is provide the reader with a way of understanding religionby... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He distinguishes between intrinsic and extrinsic sources of information. The intrinsic are those which are genetically programmed and are highly generalized . For this reason the extrinsic sources of information are very important. They have a very important function which is to provide a model for how we should live. He believes that the symbols of a religious nature, found extrinsic to us, help us know how to see the world and how we should be within the world (Churnus). Model of reality and a model for acting well Secondly, these symbols establish powerful and long lasting moods and motivations. This means that the symbols, such as the sweat lodge ceremony practiced by many Plains Indians or the marriage ceremony of Christianity and many other religions, are what motivate people and are also that which helps to establish peoples states of being. The symbols express the world s climate and shape it (Geertz, page ). Symbols are powerful because they encourage people, those who worship the symbol, into certain moods (Geertz). This means that, given certain situations where a symbol might be present or act as a motivator, the person might feel a certain way or be motivated to act in a certain manner. These, states Geertz are the two different dispositions which might be induced (page ). Motivations, from a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. The Simple Art Of Masquerade The Simple Art of Masquerade Centuries ago, long before the thoughts of man were transcribed into words, drawings were used to convey the thoughts and ideas, each telling a story like no other, with an even greater discord between the accurate meanings of the story and meaning which the reader garnered from the tale. Fast forward a few centuries to a time where stories were ultimately being shared by word of mouth, altering a bit from the original thoughts and ideas of the author who formerly spoke the tale. Traveling yet a few more centuries now to a time where stories are now written and transcribed, not only by hand but also, finally, by printing press. This illustrious invention paved the way for those who wished to share their... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... However, it is not only the authors portrayal of the characters that is important, but the interactions amongst the characters themselves. It is within Raymond Chandler s The Big Sleep that he presents each character through the eyes of Philip Marlowe, and is able to present who they are trying to be, who they are, and the moral issues which arise in each. Chandler manipulates costumes and setting to show who Carmen Sternwood s character is trying to be, who she really is and the moral issues associated with each of these as seen through the eyes of Philip Marlowe. Since countless of the characters throughout The Big Sleep do not show their true colors until the end of the book or characters life, which the latter seems to be sooner than the former, the literary clues given by Chandler to determine who they are trying to be as well as who they truly are is uniquely important. She tries to portray herself as an innocent little girl, in order to woo Marlowe, but to no avail. For example, in the first encounter with Philip Marlowe, she wore pale blue slacks, with the pale blue color associated closely with that of a newborn baby, showing that her character is one that is trying to give off a sense of childishness (5). Not only is she seen constantly giggling but she also uses elementary words such as cute, furthering her agenda of trying to act like a little girl. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. The Princess And The Frog Comparison The Princess and the Frog and Frozen are both major Disney successes. They teach golden morals and important life lessons. But they did not originate as such. These stories began as a Brother Grimm s fairy tale and a Hans Christian Andersen fairy tale, dark and harsh were the only feelings they portrayed. While there are a few parallels between the two versions, much of them is different because of the period it was written. The morals of The Grimm Brothers time and that of 2000 s Disney is quite different. The Frog King by the Grimm Brothers was originally published in German in 1812. It was the story of a young, beautiful princess that adored playing with a golden ball. One day as she is tossing the ball around, it falls into a nearby well. The princess is distraught, and her weeping draws the attention of a frog. The frog promises the princess he can retrieve the golden ball, but only for something in exchange. • 8. The Development And Development Of The Greek And Greek Empire The Roman Republic and Empire was one of the largest civilisations in the world. A significant question posed is how and why did the Roman Republic and Empire develop in the ways they did and interact with the Persian and Greek/Hellenic Empires? At the height of the Roman Empire it spanned across western Europe, and encompassed the entire Mediterranean. Lasting and developing through thousands of years, the Romans encountered and interacted with the Persian and Greek/Hellenic Empires. This included trading, co existing, and going to war with one another. Although, originally the Roman Republic and Empire was first founded by the Etruscan people. Established in 753 BCE by a Etruscan colony on the River Tiber in Italy, the city was controlled by Etruscan Kings until 509 BCE. Whence the people rose up against the monarchy to establish the Roman Republic, and fought for control of central Italy for the next 30 years. (Dr David Lundberg, 2017, pp.6 7) Thus the Roman Republic became a contending force in Western Europe, and across the Mediterranean for the next 450 years. (J.M.Roberts Odd Arne Westad, 2013, p.218) Instead of a king, two consuls and an assembly of elected magistrates were installed to rule the Roman Republic. Before a new set of consuls, and new magistrates were elected by the citizens each year. Additionally, legislative and consultative bodies were elected as Tribunes of the people, who managed the affairs of the government and managed conflicts that arose ... • 9. Acute Treatment Of Acute Kidney Injury Acute kidney injury (AKI, previously referred to as acute renal failure) is a common and serious condition particularly among hospitalized patients with acute illness and those undergoing major surgery. It can be life threatening but it can also be reversible. Clinically AKI is characterized by abrupt loss of kidneyfunction resulting in a rapid decline in the glomerular filtration rate (GFR),water and electrolytes imbalance, and accumulation of nitrogenous wastes such as blood urea nitrogen and creatinine. Epidemiology of AKI The mortality rate of AKI is very high (up to 80% mortality in critically ill children and adults). The incidence rate of AKI has increased in hospitalized patients gradually from 4.9% in 1983 [1] to 20% in 2012 [2].There are more than 35 definitions of AKI [3] which makes the incidence rate varies greatly due to the lack of a standard and Definition. The Acute Dialysis Quality Initiative (ADQI) published (RIFLE) criteria (Risk, Injury, Failure, Loss, End Stag) in 2004 (table1). Pathophysiology: In order to study a biomarker of AKI, It is very important to understand the early response mechanism of the kidney to acute injury. AKI results from multiple causative factors which are classified as pre renal (ischemia, hypovalemia), renal(toxins, drugs, infection and inflammation of the kidney e.g glomerulonephritis and acute tubular necrosis) and post renal (obstruction e.g Acute obstructive uropathy, benign prostatic hyperplasia and kidney stone). This ... The basic premise of the separate spheres was that the public sphere of political life and employment was naturally the space of men and the domestic sphere of the home was the realm of women. The conscious articulation of this idea in the media of the nineteenth century was the product of fears of societal instability, of which the breakdown of familial and sexual order became a striking metaphor . • 28. Foucault, Femininity And The Modernization Of Patriarchal... In Foucault, Femininity, and the Modernization of Patriarchal Power, Sandra Bartky utilizes Michel Foucault s concepts about power to help explain femininity. Throughout the article, she details how society forces women to fit within the confines of this construct and how it affects them. Sandra Bartky begins her piece by explaining Michel Foucault s ideas about modern power dynamics. Unlike in the past, power in modern society focuses not only on controlling the products of the body but, rather, on governing all its activities. In order for this power to continue, people are disciplined into becoming docile bodies which are subjected and practiced (Bartky, 63). This discipline is imposed through constant surveillance in a manner similar to the Panopticon. Inmates in said prison are always visible to a guard in the central tower, so they mentally coerced into monitoring their own behavior. In the same way, individuals become their own jailers and subject themselves to the society s whim due to being in a state of conscious and permanent visibility to its all seeing eye (65). Bartky, however, breaks from Foucault s theory by claiming that there is a clear difference in the disciplines imposed on men and women that are ignored in the latter s writings. Bartky posits that neither women nor men are born feminine or masculine; they are disciplined into those molds. She delineates three categories of disciplinary practices that produce feminine women. The first she ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

It s a challenging situation by which compromise or agreement is reached while attempting to avoid arguments and disputes. The Zinnia Labor Agreement Project was an insightful learning simulation. It was interesting, frustrating, and a unique experience. The project required keeping an open mind and approaching the simulation with an integrative approach. However, all parties involved in the negotiation process must take into consideration this same approach. Additionally, trust between management and labor union is beneficial. Trust can be a slippery thing when it comes to negotiating. Considering the reason management enters into negotiation with the other side of the table (labor union) is because there s the hope of reaching a deal, ultimately trust is one of the things that s going to allow both sides to... As the Torstar board meeting in April of 1998 was approaching, a memorandum on Torstar s dividend policy, their repurchases and their strategy with regards to strategic acquisitions within their three business areas was composed. The memorandum included pros and cons as well as recommendations with regards to the issues to be discussed when the board gathered for their meeting. The dividendpolicy and the share repurchasestrategy are the main issues since the institutional shareholders preferred Torstar s historical share repurchases and historical dividend pay outs. In fact, they could increase their debt to a 50 per cent debt to total assets ratio and still manage their interest payments (interest coverage = 3.017) as long as they do not suffer sustained decreases in EBIT. Furthermore, Torstar s cash to sales ratio is sound at 3.6% which is well above the benchmark between 0.5% and 2% (Koller et al, 2005). However, according to trade off theory, as a firm increases their debt tototal assets ratio the expected costs of financial distress will offset the tax shield. It is therefore important to evaluate which level of debt to total assets ratio is optimal. Torstar could face problems in paying their short term obligations as well as their long term obligations. Dividends: A major advantage of Torstar raising the dividends is that it could mitigate both agency, overconfidence and optimism problems since it reduces the cash available to management. Thus, paying higher dividends will constrain Torstar s managers from the questionable acquisitions in the CSEP segment. By using dividends, shareholders will gain cash which they can invest in other public pure plays , hence the shareholders can diversify their own risk. It is also a way for Torstar to signal stabile cash flows, increased past earnings and expected sustainable future earnings. The market could however interpret an increase in dividends as if there are fewer investment opportunities. The market already has the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

SOCB42 Classical Sociological Theory Professor Daniel Silver TUT0001 TA Katie Stuart Joyce (Fong) Liu 1001717458 Throughout the book An Inquiry into the Nature and Causes of the Wealth of Nations, Adam Smith uses the term commercial society rather than more accustomed words like capitalism. Smith explains what he means by this term, is when the division of labour has been once thoroughly established, it is but a small part of a man s want which the produce of his own labour can supply. He supplies the far greater part of them by exchanging that surplus part of the produce of his own labour, which is over and above his own consumption, for such parts of the produce of other s men s labour as he has occasion for. Every man thus lives by exchanging, or becomes in some measure a merchant, and the society itself grows to be what is properly a commercial society (Smith, 2003, p. 37). He was trying to say is that commercial society is a civilization where everyone is a merchant: a dealer, trader, and seller. Throughout the book, Smith starts having an agreement and disagreement on commercial society, which is a commercial society deforms human nature. However, continuing reading his book, there are more benefits of a commercial society than the drawbacks. A commercial society does not damage human nature, instead improves human nature by acting on one s self interest to bring positive benefits to society, connects and aids members of society together through trade and ... Another example of Romanticism represented by her, is when she cries after Gatsby shows his variety of shirts in pg. 92. Again, Daisy falls into Gatsby s trap of him trying to impress her with his wealth. After 5 years lost, she begins to regret marrying Tom, and wishing she had spent that time with Gatsby, which was impossible to do, caused by Gatsby s time in war and studies in Oxford. This reunion in Gatsby s mansion, makes both of them fantasize that they are together and makes them believe that there is still hope to live together happily as a couple. From here, they begin to have affairs and this makes the romance and belief stronger, which then leads to Gatsby accepting to face the problem: Tom. He believes that things must be done the respectful way by talking to him like adults, but Daisy opposes that idea. Here, Daisy shows Romanticism again, while Gatsby is being realistic. Do people only dislike other people for being cocky because they doubt themselves? Personally, I do not mind it much when people brag about what they have achieved or have done. More often than not, I know they never intentionally mean any harm by doing so. Why should I mind? They re only excited about their life, right? It is always easy to remain humble when everything is good and dandy, but the moment someone criticizes them, they tend to withdraw, especially if the person criticizing does so in a tone which may not be soothing enough. In other countries, people tend to be less direct, or more humble during business or discussions. America tends to be more direct, and if people who tend to be more direct are less understanding and less able to recognize one who is less direct during a conversation, we must remember that there is a potential that the humble person may be perceived as a weak individual, whether it be physically, mentally, or via business. I propose we be humble, confident, and persistent. We can prove ourselves to ourselves by consistently making things happen by REMEMBERING to take positive action. Let us advance in life by remembering to remain humble during proper moments because it is those moments which shape our destiny. Being humble is the same as having a student mentality, and it is much more difficult to learn when we lack a student mentality. We simply become less receptive to knowledge. Also, you may want to keep in mind that cockiness and talking about what you want to do may cause people to resent you, and people often do not like to see cocky or arrogant individuals rise above levels which they themselves have yet to achieve. All of the pigments followed the expected absorbances from Figure 7.13 in the laboratory manual except pigment one which is the anthocyanidins. The absorbance values and graphs can be matched to the same pigments in a similar experiment performed when separating carbohydrate groups through chromatography (Inome, Y., Yamamoto, A.). Since pigment one is supposed to reflect a blue or violet color, it would have been expected to transmit the ranges that it absorbed, and reflect those that were transmitted. Chlorophyll a, chlorophyll b, carotenoids, and xanthophylls all followed their hypothesized ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

You can classify invasive plant by seeing if it is from the region or area.Well, an invasive plant has the ability to thrive and spread aggressively outside its natural range. This means that they are able to adapt to it surrounding very easily. A naturally aggressive plant may be especially invasive when it is introduced to a new habitat. Some invasive plants are worse than others. For example, like the witchweed, or even tall grass. When invasive plants like ivy or clematis dominate the groundcover, there is very little root structure to bind the soils. That s why large areas dominated by invasive plants are more likely to erode during flood events than areas with a diverse understory of trees and shrubs, which provide more root structure diversity.
