The Importance Of Community Service For Your Community And...
Have you ever thought about what community service would do for your community or the
community of others? Or at least thought of the impact that it could have on not only you , but others
as well? Community Service or volunteering has a certain importance to it. Community service is
helpful when trying to build or better a community for not only those in the community but you as
well. By volunteering people gain compassion and understanding of the world around them. When
people volunteer, they usually volunteer in a project that they re really passionate about, which gives
them the opportunity to volunteer with as much time that is available. Community service is way to
bring a nation together. It is like the key point of a country, as there is a great amount of importance of
doing good for others. Community service is a handy service because it is the best way to create a
sense of responsibility to people. With so many things going wrong in the world today, normal
everyday people have the opportunity to fulfill a sense of purpose and they have the chance to make
their world a better place.
Community service is not only fun and rewarding experience, it also looks good really good on a
resume. By people stepping up to volunteer, it gives them a great sense of newfound purpose as well.
By giving back through community service this brings not only joy to those who are being helped but
a sense of pride and accomplishment for the person who is participating in community

Sauron has many assistants throughout Middle earth attempting to harm Frodo and protect the Ring.
After Frodo was stabbed by the Black Riders, they were swept away by a flood at the River. Frodo
believes they were destroyed but Gandalf explains that, You cannot destroy Ringwraiths like that...
The power of their master is in them, and they stand or fall by him. (273). The Black Riders are too
powerful to destroy because of their master, Sauron. The Fellowship has no other choice but to avoid
them. The Fellowship also encounter other aids of Sauron. They are attacked by wolves, followed by
an attack from orcs. As Frodo gets closer to destroying the Ring, Sauron has to try much harder to find
and end Frodo. Frodo is harmed many times when attacked, but manages to heal his wounds with the
help of his friends. The creatures the Fellowship encounter are all very powerful since they are
controlled by Sauron. The more powerful they are, they more damage and conflict they will cause to
Frodo s goal. Frodo and his group have to change their path many times throughout their journey in

The Water Crisis In Flint
The water crisis in Flint, Michigan shocked and outraged many Americans. It was true, a simple water
source change from one source to another in the city of Flint turned into a State of Emergency as
declared by the governor. Toxic water from the Flint River had filtered into thousands of homes in the
town near Detroit. Keeping lead out of the drinking water is something modern society view as a
fundamental and common sense action. As such, countless citizens wondered how something like this
could ever happen in the United States. Indeed, the missteps by the city of Flint, Michigan must be
examined in terms of both decision making and chemistry in order to make appropriate adjustments
for the future.

Dark Energy Essay
Dark energy what is it? Dark energy is a unknown energy said to take up 70 percent of the universe.
The energy is a repulsive gravitational effect that is causing the universe to accelerate out ward. No
one knows exactly what dark energy is or where it comes from.
Dark Energy is a new idea. Little is known about dark energy, yet it takes up a huge amount if the
universe.
Scientist were able to show the universe was expanding at an accelerated rate by measuring the red
shift of an object by comparing the spectral lines of the elements and the spectral lines of the same
elements measured in a lab. The more distant the objects that emit light the ... Show more content on

Not until to long ago, there was an inconsistency between the matter in space, the energy in the
universe, and the flatness of space. Scientist studied the cosmic microwave background and a large
scale structure, and they were able to conclude that the energy that keeps space flat is dark energy.
Scientists are still trying to learn more about this mysterious energy. They conduct red shift surveys of
the galaxy clusters; a galaxy cluster is consisted of thousands of galaxies, dark matter, and hot gases,
bound together by gravity.
When scientist conduct a red shift survey, the electrons from the hot gases scatter off the protons and
produce X rays, which weaken with a higher red shift. Once and a while the electrons give some
energy to a photon of the cosmic microwave background, which makes the black body spectrum to
shift causing distortion, called the Sunyaev Zeldovich effect. Comparing the X rays to the Sunyaev
Zeldfovich effect help scientist observe the faintest red shift in clusters.
Various types of dark energy have been thought to be found, one is a cosmic field associated with
inflation, a low energy field called quintessence, and the cosmological constant in its present living
form does not balance gravity in order to keep a static universe, it has a negative pressure that cause
the universe to accelerate.

`` The Lesson `` By Tony Cade Bambara
If all your friends jumped off a bridge, would you do it too? Throughout the ages, how many times
have parents bellowed these words? Although the question is dreadfully annoying to most children, it
is designed to make them think about their individuality and the dangers of conforming. Today, more
than ever, with the use of social media, our society is under pressure to conform. With the creation of
Facebook and Twitter, our goals are to be friended, liked, followed, and accepted. Is our nation in
danger of becoming lemmings? According to an entry in Urban Dictionary written by Aegis Kleais, a
lemming is [a] derogatory term used to reference a person who seemingly does not possess any form
of individual thought and instead mindlessly follows the behaviors and actions of the masses.
Fortunately, short stories such as Tony Cade Bambara s The Lesson (1972) and Langston Hughes
Salvation (1940) remind us of both the positive and negative effects of how an individual deals with
group conformity and social pressure. The Lesson is a story of a close knit group of children from
impoverished Harlem, New York who are taken on a field trip to learn about economic inequality. In
Salvation, Hughes recalls his experience of religion as a young child, particularly an intense religious
revival. Through the use of setting, characterization, and irony, both authors show the importance of
standing up for one s self regardless of social pressure. In each

Minuet In Modernism
A Minuet in Modernism: A Study of Modernism as a Radical Form of Literature, superimposed with
the exploration of the literary prowesses of Virginia Woolf and Katherine Mansfield in juxtaposition
In his seminal lecture on Modernism in Architecture at McGill University School of Architecture on
21 October 2000, Arthur Erickson espoused Modernism as an artistic movement that released
[society] from the constraints of everything that had gone before with a euphoric sense of freedom
(Erickson, 2000). Modernism, as an artistic movement, is defined as a genre that aimed to transcend
and subvert the limitations of traditional literary conventions of the Romantic, Realist and Victorian
literary movements, and eagerly championed for new and innovative experimentation in both form

Achilles Themes
The saying nothing can beat the classics is really tested when it comes to the book The Song of
Achilles, written cleverly by Madeline Miller since this book is based on The Iliad, written
approximately 3000 years ago by none other than the great Homer. Like many other great books
reimagined, the story has a couple of changes here and there but Miller focuses rather on a character
that does not get as recognition, is not the strongest fighter in all of Greece, does not have the brightest
mind, but is the Philatos [...] Best of men (Miller 349). In brief, what Patroclus realizes throughout the
story is that love requires the willingness to make sacrifices for their beloved ones and the power to

Impact of Foreign Aid on Poverty and Economic Development...
CHAPTER ONE INTRODUCTION
This project focuses on the poverty profile in Nigeria, the foreign aids given to the nation to help
alleviate poverty and how it affects the economic development of Nigeria. According to the World
Bank website, poverty is hunger. It is lack of shelter. Poverty is being sick and not being able to see a
doctor. It is not being able to go to school, not knowing how to read, and not being able to speak
properly. Poverty is not having a job, and is fear for the future, and living one day at a time. It is losing
a child to illness brought about by unclean water. And lastly, it is powerlessness, lack of representation
and freedom.
Poverty is the inability to achieve a certain minimum standard of living. It is ... Show more content on

By 1996, it was very obvious that urban poverty had become an increasing problem in Nigeria. For
example, the number of people in poverty increased from 27% in 1980 to 46% in 1985. it declined
slightly to 42% in 1992, and increased very sharply to 67% in 1996. In 1999, estimates showed that
over 70% of Nigerians lived in poverty. The government then declared in November 1999 that the 470
billion naira budget for the year 2000 was to relieve poverty.
By 1996, Nigeria had become the 13th poorest country in the world and occupied the 142nd rank on
the human development index (HDI) scale. (World Bank, 1996)
With the reforms, the real growth became positive but there was still a question whether the reform
alleviated poverty; how far poverty was reduced.
Foreign aid is the economic help provided to communities of countries due to the occurrence of a
humanitarian crisis or for the achievement of a socioeconomic objective. There are two types of aids:
Humanitarian aid is the immediate assistance given to individuals, organizations or government for
emergency relief caused by war or natural disasters. Development aid is help given by developed
countries to support economic or social development in developing countries so as to create long term
sustainable economic growth.
The sources of foreign aids include bilateral and multilateral aids. Bilateral aid is given by the
government of one country directly to another. Multilateral aid is aid from an international

Extraction of Metals
Extraction of metals
The History of Metals.
Metals have been used by people for many thousands of years. Gold and silver, found as native metal,
were used both as jewellery and as a status symbol nothing new there. These metals were known in
the Stone Age, but gold and silver are too soft to be used as tools.
The first really useful metal to be discovered was bronze. This began the Bronze Age. Bronze was
used extensively for tools and weapons in Asia and Africa from 4,500 B.C. (6,500 years ago) and in
Britain from 2,000 B.C. (4,000 years ago). News of the new material travelled slowly in those days
and it took the Brits 2,500 years to get the message.

The same can be said of metal extraction. Metal extraction can drastically affect the quality of air in
the surrounding areas, what with the high levels of dust and gas in the area. There s also the noise
pollution that it creates, which is affecting the natural habitat of animals. Last, metal extraction
disfigures the landscape.
Now, if companies continually extract metal, the land will forever be disfigured, causing flooding and
soil erosion in the area. It will also cause large scale natural habitat destruction, causing so many
species to be uprooted. There s also the air and water pollution to consider.
Economic Impact of Metal Extraction
It is a fact that mining, extracting, refining, and purifying metal will cost a lot of money. There are
different types of metal, and they need different methods of extraction. Now, the methods of extracting
metal do not come cheap, nor does refining and purifying metal. Not only will you need special
equipment for their extraction, but you will also need other elements as well such as copper, zinc,
mercury, among others, for the purification and refinement processes. Some of these elements are very
harmful and toxic not only to humans and animals but to nature as well, worsening the environmental
impact of metal extraction.
Aside from this, you also have to think of the transportation costs of extracted metal.

Juvenile Violent Crime And Juvenile Crime Rates
According to (Walton, 2014), as far back as the late 1800 s, children have been sentenced to the same
punishments as adults, depending on the crime they committed. Punishments even included death if
the juvenile was deemed to be past the point of help. Later on courts were geared more towards
rehabilitation than punishment. Reform movements came along and parents could send their children
off to reformatories to live and work as part of their rehabilitation. Due to poor living and working
conditions many of these places were closed down.
Soon after the Progressive Era, the first juvenile court system was opened in Illinois. The main focus
of these courts was rehabilitation for the juveniles (Fiorillo, 2013). Juvenile violent crime rates had
increased so much that law makers knew they had to do something to combat all of the violence.
Juveniles were committing murder, assault, rape and other serious crimes which sent the public into a
fear overload. These increases in juvenile violent crimes lead to some of our early get tough on
juvenile laws. Policy makers were inclined to push for harsher laws for juveniles who committed
violent crimes.
The increase in juvenile crimes led lawmakers away from implementing laws the focused on
rehabilitation and back to laws that focused on punishment. States began to develop statutes allowed
juveniles to be tried in the same court system and receive the same sentences as adults. These statutes
brought important reforms to the juvenile

I USC will return during the school year for the length of the entire implementation plan and continue
to monitor and adjust development as needed for all stakeholders including parents.
Starting this plan during the scheduled professional development days in August 2016, we will be
celebrating greater student success and a very harmonious school environment at The Academy of
Diverse Thinkers.
Future Research
Progress monitoring will occur during the course work, as well as individual surveys tracking each
leader s opinions of both the delivery method and the training itself. After the course work is
completed, anonymous surveys will be used to explore the efficacy of the development. Further
professional development will be created as the changes in our society s methods and skills in
communication evolve. It should be noted that due to the differences and variety of human learning
styles, multiple modalities must be used from this point forward in regards to any training,
communication, or dissemination of information.
Conclusion
The comprehensive communications enhancement program will cost the entirety of the budget already
set aside for professional development, however the return on investment will be multi faceted and
priceless: (1) the learning environment will improve greatly along with, (2) student success, (3) re
enrollment, and (4) teacher

The Role Of Polycystic Ovary Syndrome ( Pcos )
EPIDEMIOLOGY
Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS) is a common endocrine disorder that affects 4% to 12% of
women of childbearing age.1 The proportion of individuals in a population with PCOS depends on the
diagnostic criteria.2 According to the criteria implemented by the European Society for Human
Reproduction and Embryology/American Society for Reproductive Medicine, PCOS is as great as
15% to 20%.2 As stated in The National Institute of Health Office of Disease Prevention Report,
PCOS impacts about 5 million females of reproductive age in United States.3 The identification and

ETIOLOGY AND PATHOPHYSIOLOGY
PCOS is an oligogenic disorder that has a heritable factor of approximately 70%.3 Both genetic and
environmental factors contribute to the phenotype of the disease.4 The pathophysiology of PCOS
consists of defects in the hypothalamic pituitary axis, secretion of insulin and the function of the
ovary.3 Although, the cause of PCOS is an on going topic of research, it has been linked to insulin
resistance and elevated androgen levels that contribute to hormonal imbalance.4 It is estimated that
60% 80% of women with PCOS, show insulin resistance and this percentage increases to 95% of
women who are obese.8 Insulin resistance is a cause as well as an exacerbating factor for the
development of PCOS.3 Insulin resistance contributes to metabolic disturbances, obesity and type 2
diabetes, as well as increased androgens, cardiovascular risks and anovulation.1
Insulin aids in regulation of ovarian function and overproduction of insulin causes the ovaries to
produce high amounts of androgens.9 High levels of gonadotropin releasing hormone (GnRH)
stimulate the ovarian thecal cells to produce a greater amount of androgens such as 17
hydroprogesterone, testosterone and progesterone.9 Furthermore, thecal cells contain a higher level of

Positive And Negative Effects On Social Media
The Oxford dictionary defines privacy as the state or condition of being free from being observed or
disturbed by other people (2017). It should not come as a surprise that websites designed to share
pictures, ideas, and what is for dinner, leave individuals feeling that their privacy has been invaded. It
is also not surprising that some people are oblivious to the effects of what they post online. It is safe to
say the loss of privacy can be self imposed for societies need to collaborate and socialized is the
reason social media sites were created in the first place. Jeff Jarvis tells the need for publicness or the
need to be public is strong upon our society today (Berkman, 2012). In today s technology age, when
everything can be found in just a matter of clicks, it is easy to overshare. Yet the information that is
published or posted on social media sites is not the only information that is gathered and stored. Many
social media sites such as Facebook, collect data behind the scenes and sell it to marketing firms and
other data collection firms. Every like or when signing into other sites using Facebook credentials,
something new is learned about the user. Infringement of privacy, whether self imposed or not, can
have both positive and negative effects on an individual in a social media environment. There is
enormous talk today about privacy. During a panel discussion a question was posed, How much
should people worry about the loss of online privacy? Jeff Jarvis,

Extended Definition Of Hero
A hero is someone who rises everyone to do what s right. If you were to ask someone off the street
what a hero is, they ll more than the likely reply that a hero is a handsome man that is muscular and
can fly. If you were to search hero on Google you get two definitions, 1.) a person, typically a man,
who is admired for their courage, outstanding achievements, and or noble qualities. The second
definition is a submarine sandwich. Of course, we are looking for the first definition (maybe the
second for lunch). Everyone has a hero, their inspiration (mine is Gabe Newell) who they aspire and
wish to be. When it comes to heroes, they shine the light where there is darkness. A hero s strength is
what people think of the most, but there are ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

hit TV show called Rick and Morty . He outsmarted Zigerian Aliens who placed him in a simulation

ultimately destroyed their ship(Rick and Morty2). What makes him a hero is outsmarting alien
scammers and probably saved a lot of aliens of getting scammed. His intelligence is what makes Rick
a hero (and often a villain). If applied to a hero, they can save more lives and do some quick thinking
in split second scenarios.
When it comes to heroism, no hero is perfect and every hero has its flaws. A hero needs the strength to
help people like physical strength for busting a door down when a family is trapped inside a burning
building. Heroes need the bravery to risk getting injured a fire and possibly death. The last thing is
intelligence for the quick

The Monkey s Paw Poem Analysis
What would you do if you had the opportunity to make 3 wishes? Would you do it? The story The
Monkey s Paw by W.W Jacobs starts with Mr.White s good friend, Sergeant Major Morris coming into
their house one day and introduces the Monkey s Paw to them that he got from India that he did not
want anymore and also tried to sell. The Monkey s Paw could grant 3 wishes but some say it brings
good luck with grave consequences. This is what happened to the White family. The Monkey s Paw
brought great calamity to the whole family. In the end, I think that the father Mr.White is the most
responsible for the family s sorrow. Even though he knew there were heavy consequences if he made a
wish. For example, the sergeant says on page 683, The first ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Mrs.White was the one who convinced Mr.White to make another wish to bring their son back. For
instance, on page 684 Mrs.White says, Wish! She cried in a strong voice . One can assume that she
was demanding Mr.White to make a wish. Another example is she insisted to make another wish. On
page 684 it says, We had the first wish granted, why not the second . This means she really wants to
make another wish. Additionally, according to the text, it points out on page 684 she says, The paw!
She cried wildly. The monkey s paw! This is important because this evidence proves she was the one
who brought it up to make another wish. As a result, the wife could also be accountable for the sorrow

The Marathon Is A Character Driven Journey Of Self Discovery
THE MARATHON is a character driven journey of self discovery. The goal is clear and the stakes are
personal. The script offers complex characters with strong inner struggles and conflicts. The
protagonist, Leaf, is easy too root for and care about. The tone is dramatic. The script is driven by
solid themes about survival, healing, forgiveness, and second chances.
There s a lot to really like about this script and while it merits consideration, the script would still
benefit from further development.
First, the opening sets the tone and anticipation as it transitions back in time. The structure utilizes
several flashbacks and most of them work to help move the story forward vs. stopping the story. The
inciting event that lands Leaf in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There are far too many characters to track (mainly the teens). Because there are so many, none of them
are fully developed. Consider narrowing the cast.
Continue to develop the core teens. There are several subplots introduced, but none of them are fully
formed.
For example, a romance, triangle subplot is introduced between Leaf, Miranda, and Andrew, yet it
never feels entirely developed or resolved. Thus, explore more of the character of Miranda and her
budding relationship with Leaf. There s a lot more room for tension in this subplot. Create a stronger
relationship arc between Miranda and Leaf. This would be something that pulls them apart.
Elevate Andrew s jealousy to add more solid conflict. Push this story to the edge, even perhaps add the
all is lost moment when they send Leaf back to Juvenile Hall (for fighting with Andrew), and then
show how he s able to find his way back into the program.
The Jason subplot currently doesn t have a strong emotionally impact on the audience. The idea is
smart to show that it s challenging to survive outside the program and that some will fail, but the
audience needs to know Jason better and they need to emotionally identify with him and root for him.
As structured now, the audience doesn t feel as if they truly get to know Jason and his struggles.
Create a stronger bond between Leaf and Jason. Focus more on the relationship between the teens, as
well as Leaf s relationship

Biological Weapon Funding
Taylor Boulet
Crim. 4412 Research Paper
Proposal to ban the funding of Biological agents and make it illegal for use in warfare. Biological
weapons have been around for many years. Some of the biological weapons being used today around
the world are; Brucella, Brucellosis, Smallpox, and Anthrax, etc. These bio agents are mostly being
used in terrorism/warfare situations. The uses of these agents are extremely dangerous as they can
easily be disseminated, or transmitted from person to person. Imagine a large city like New York City
or San Francisco being infiltrated with a smallpox virus. In a matter of days, thousands of casualties
would be infected and the spread of the disease would be almost uncontrollable. With that being said,

understanding the basic biology of potential bioterrorism agents, understanding the interaction
between the human immune system and these microorganisms, developing and improving drugs and

diagnose diseases caused by these agents, and establishing resources and biosafety laboratories to
facilitate biodefense research. These scientists performing this critical research are the ones who have

Intention And Relativism
Intention, Free will, and Moral relativism
Intention is the heart of every action. It puts value and meaning in our day to day action. In the two
main theory that we covered in class, morality of obligation and morality of Happiness, Intention is
central in both views. Intention help us evaluate our morality. It also comes under the bigger topic of
free action. In the book Mattison state, All free action is intentional, but not all intentional action is
free. (p. 48) I also hold this view because as long as we know what we are doing its intentional, but if
it is an action that is under duress than the action is not done with the free participation of the
individual. Free action is action where the individual understands the meaning and the ... Show more

I found moral relativism to be very interesting. I often hear some people saying statements like they
do not have the same value as ours. Most of the time what is impeded in this statement is that their
way of life and morality is better or superior than the others. I think you will find your answer when
you travel around the globe and meet people of many culture. You will see the goodness every culture
has. The father who is raising his daughters in refugee camps or the missionary that left her luxury life
to help the poor or the child who speaks with respect to his elders are all living a moral life. They may
not be all doing for the same reason, but I think it s just one coin but different sides. We humans long
for goodness. I will like to conclude my reflection with a verse from the Quran, We will ease him
toward ease. (Quran, 92:7) In this verse Allah is good action to be ease, and he will guide his servants
towards this ease, and by nature doing evil is hard. This concept agrees with Aristotelian view that the
happy life is what we all desire and want, and when we pursue evil we are acting against our personal
interest and it s indeed hard and most of the time we have to battle personal

The Great Lakes, Lake Lakes And Lake Ontario
The Great Lakes, including Lake Superior, Lake Michigan, Lake Huron, Lake Erie and Lake Ontario,
are the largest freshwater lakes in the world, accounts for about 18% of the world s fresh water
resources. They are rich in water and other resources and the area of the Great Lakes extend more than
1200 km. The storage capacity of Great Lakes is about 23000 km3 and the surface area is around
244000 km2. Nowadays 1/10 of the Americans and a quarter of Canadians live in the lakes. Some of
the world s largest industrial center is built on here. Almost 25% of total agricultural production in
Canada and 7% in the United States will yield in this area. Although the area of the lake is large, it
could be affected by a wide range of pollutions vulnerably. Lakes pollution sources include soil
runoff, agricultural chemicals, municipal waste, industrial emissions and waste disposal exudate. It is
vulnerable to be affected by the pollutants company with rain, snow and dust in the atmosphere
because of the broad surfaces of the lakes. The outflows from the Great Lakes are less than the total
storage capacity so that the pollutants directly discharged into the lake from the coast or tributaries of
the lake would be retained in the lake in the system. Consequently, the concentration of pollutants will
be increasingly higher as time goes on. Furthermore they will stay in the system and continue to cycle
through the food chain in the ecosystem because of the re suspended sediments. Other than

A New Type Of Warfare Total War
Arguably the bloodiest war in American history, the Civil War introduced a new type of warfare total
war. In total war, all resources are poured into military power, and any beneficial facilities are used by
the military, including transportation and communication. This new type of warfare would prove to be
very effective and unforgiving in the battles to come. With the invention of new types of troop and
supply transports, as well as the invention of the telegraph, the war faced a new era of modern combat.
Prior to the Civil War, the antebellum period of America brought forth a miniature technological
revolution. Starting with canals, private American companies began investing in building new ways to
connect the country. After the construction of the Erie Canal, America experienced a boom of canal
building that lasted into the 1840s when railroads surpassed them in efficiency. Railroads proved to be
faster, more direct, and more reliable than their canal or turnpike cousins. The rail system grew so
quickly that in the 1830s there was more milage of railroad tracks than there were canals. Soon, the
eastern coast was connected to the western side of the Mississippi River, Chicago, and the Great
Lakes. Since most of the railroad milage was located in the North, this would provide the Union with
a strategical advantage when the battles began. Realizing their potential, Abraham Lincoln ordered the
Union to utilize the railroads to their full extent, moving valuable

Zombie Behavioral Patterns
Behavioral Patterns Of Zombies:
Your zombie usually does not behave normally that resembles anything that was once human. Once
mutation has occurred, it is easy to tell at first look that that risen zombie is no longer a living member
of the human society. Its movement is generally slow with very poor skills and coordination. Its walk
is clumsy and unbalanced. This is caused in part by the cellular decay of their nerves and tissue, and
also the poor functioning of the portion of the brain that controls functions. Without control of their
circulatory and other systems, the body begins to decay quite fast. This rapid decay occurs in all parts
of the body including the eyes, leaving zombies with a very poor sense of sight. This makes them even

first generation children of immigrants there is a lot of responsibility on their shoulders as well. This is
proving through Two Kinds and my two sources that explain and shows examples of what actual

Comparing Bonnie And Clyde
Everybody loves a good rebel. Throw a love story in with it and bam you ve got yourself a great
plotline. What makes it even better is if it is a true account. This story of Bonnie and Clyde has
survived through the ages and the critics by surpassing any movie that had been done on the killer duo
before it. It was the American dream that had a deadly ending. It did not end well for them much like
it hadn t for most chasing the dream of prosperity. And while Bonnie and Clyde may not have gotten
their prosperity they did gain the fame they so wished for. This blood drenched movie changed
America with it s violence, sex symbols, and the hero s journey in ways we can still see today on the
big screen.

They are also the good guys. But I think that this movie takes a look at the Hero s Journey a little bit
differently. The hero in this story would be Bonnie. In the beginning she is living in an ordinary world.
She wants a life of adventure but does not know how to go about this. Then there is that call to
Adventure. I believe that Clyde would be Bonnie s call. He is young, fit, charismatic. He falls in her
sexual range. But Bonnie wants a dangerous man. You just have to look at her husband to know she
wants a bad boy. Clyde has all of that, seeing as that he was in jail, and was still a thief. He also
carried a gun. This was alluring to Bonnie. There is not much of a refusal of the call. She is lured right
away. She does learn some about him but still ends up running away with him. Then you have meeting
the mentor. The mentor in this story would also have to be Clyde. He has experience is being a thief
and a criminal. He knows how to use a gun in which he teaches Bonnie. He also shows her how to pull
off a robbery. There then is crossing the threshold from where there is no return. Bonnie crosses this
threshold as soon as she runs away with Clyde and crosses from staying within the law and becomes
an outlaw. She commits herself to a life of crime. There are tests that Bonnie has to undergo. She has
to learn to be cool during robberies, car chases, and being shot at. She recruits C.W. who becomes part
of her gang. She also has to be contend with the enemies she gains which fall from the law
enforcement to Blanche. Then we come to the approach to the inmost cave. With this it is the
reference to their inevitable death. Which would be violent. And we see Bonnie handle this with
acceptance. After we see the ordeal. It is the fill arc of Bonnies crime. It was fun in the beginning then
it becomes deadly. When they start killing more and more people the violent becomes frequent.

Charles Mingus Influence
Charles Mingus arrived in the jazz scene during a state of flux and his impact changed the way the
jazz was performed and composed from ever since. Mingus s strict sense of jazz traditionalism and his
willingness to experiment with his music led to the creation of many subgenres in jazz music. His
outspoken political views were also very influential subsequent generations of musicians and
composers . The music Mingus made is very tightly connected to the story of his life. After examining
both his music and life in greater detail, it becomes apparent how and why Charles has gone on to
become one of the most important jazz composers since the birth of jazz in the twentieth century.

In 1941, Mingus played in several bands including the Alvino Rey Orchestra and Barney Bigard s
band (Santoro, pg.57). This would lead to Mingus taking the oppurunity to play with Louis Armstrong
in 1942 when Armstrong s broke up during the filming of Cabin in the Sky (Santoro, 2001, pg. 57).
This would lead to Mingus recording with Armstrong in 1943, which would lead to him recording
with Russell Jacquet and Howard McGhee in 1945 (Santoro, pg. 57, 2001). Later that year, he would
record his first record as a bandleader for the Excelsior label as a sextet (Santoro, pg. 57, 2001). Along
with the eleven songs he recorded with Russell Jacquet that year, he started to accumulate a reputation
in the jazz scene which would lead to him joining the Lionel Hampton band in 1947 (Santoro, 2001,
pg. 75). During his time with the Lionel Hampton band, they recorded Mingus Fingers which was one
of the first Mingus solos that brought him some recognition (Santoro, pg. 75, 2001). The solo featured
the use of melodic lines in his bass playing and deft double stops that helped the song become a hit in
the Los Angeles area (Santoro, pg. 76, 2001). He would join the Red Norvo Trio, where his star would
continue to rise (Martin and Waters, pg. 249, 2012). He left the band after he was excluded from a
televised performance due to his race (Martin and Waters, pg. 249, 2012). He moved to New York in

love and to convey the meaning that falling in love at a young age is foolish. In When I was One and
Twenty Housman uses diction to help get his point across. Diction can be defined as the word choice
and style that the poet uses.In his poem Housman chose to use formal language. As an example
Housman writes The heart out of the bosom was never given in vain; Tis said with sighs a plenty and
sold with endless rue (Housman 11 14). Basically, A.E Housman is saying that it is better to be poor
than to have to suffer from losing someone you love. The word choice of Housman helps set the tone
and makes the reader feel the emotions more intensely.

  • 4. The Water Crisis In Flint The water crisis in Flint, Michigan shocked and outraged many Americans. It was true, a simple water source change from one source to another in the city of Flint turned into a State of Emergency as declared by the governor. Toxic water from the Flint River had filtered into thousands of homes in the town near Detroit. Keeping lead out of the drinking water is something modern society view as a fundamental and common sense action. As such, countless citizens wondered how something like this could ever happen in the United States. Indeed, the missteps by the city of Flint, Michigan must be examined in terms of both decision making and chemistry in order to make appropriate adjustments for the future. The energy is a repulsive gravitational effect that is causing the universe to accelerate out ward. No one knows exactly what dark energy is or where it comes from. Dark Energy is a new idea. Little is known about dark energy, yet it takes up a huge amount if the universe. Not until to long ago, there was an inconsistency between the matter in space, the energy in the universe, and the flatness of space. Scientist studied the cosmic microwave background and a large scale structure, and they were able to conclude that the energy that keeps space flat is dark energy. Scientists are still trying to learn more about this mysterious energy. They conduct red shift surveys of the galaxy clusters; a galaxy cluster is consisted of thousands of galaxies, dark matter, and hot gases, bound together by gravity. When scientist conduct a red shift survey, the electrons from the hot gases scatter off the protons and produce X rays, which weaken with a higher red shift. Once and a while the electrons give some energy to a photon of the cosmic microwave background, which makes the black body spectrum to shift causing distortion, called the Sunyaev Zeldovich effect. Comparing the X rays to the Sunyaev Zeldfovich effect help scientist observe the faintest red shift in clusters. Various types of dark energy have been thought to be found, one is a cosmic field associated with inflation, a low energy field called quintessence, and the cosmological constant in its present living form does not balance gravity in order to keep a static universe, it has a negative pressure that cause the universe to accelerate. • 7. `` The Lesson `` By Tony Cade Bambara If all your friends jumped off a bridge, would you do it too? Throughout the ages, how many times have parents bellowed these words? Although the question is dreadfully annoying to most children, it is designed to make them think about their individuality and the dangers of conforming. Today, more than ever, with the use of social media, our society is under pressure to conform. With the creation of Facebook and Twitter, our goals are to be friended, liked, followed, and accepted. Is our nation in danger of becoming lemmings? According to an entry in Urban Dictionary written by Aegis Kleais, a lemming is [a] derogatory term used to reference a person who seemingly does not possess any form of individual thought and instead mindlessly follows the behaviors and actions of the masses. Fortunately, short stories such as Tony Cade Bambara s The Lesson (1972) and Langston Hughes Salvation (1940) remind us of both the positive and negative effects of how an individual deals with group conformity and social pressure. The Lesson is a story of a close knit group of children from impoverished Harlem, New York who are taken on a field trip to learn about economic inequality. In Salvation, Hughes recalls his experience of religion as a young child, particularly an intense religious revival. Through the use of setting, characterization, and irony, both authors show the importance of standing up for one s self regardless of social pressure. In each ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Modernism, as an artistic movement, is defined as a genre that aimed to transcend and subvert the limitations of traditional literary conventions of the Romantic, Realist and Victorian literary movements, and eagerly championed for new and innovative experimentation in both form and style (Cooper, pg. 9). Gold and silver, found as native metal, were used both as jewellery and as a status symbol nothing new there. These metals were known in the Stone Age, but gold and silver are too soft to be used as tools. The first really useful metal to be discovered was bronze. This began the Bronze Age. Bronze was used extensively for tools and weapons in Asia and Africa from 4,500 B.C. (6,500 years ago) and in Britain from 2,000 B.C. (4,000 years ago). It will also cause large scale natural habitat destruction, causing so many species to be uprooted. There s also the air and water pollution to consider. Economic Impact of Metal Extraction It is a fact that mining, extracting, refining, and purifying metal will cost a lot of money. There are different types of metal, and they need different methods of extraction. Now, the methods of extracting metal do not come cheap, nor does refining and purifying metal. Not only will you need special equipment for their extraction, but you will also need other elements as well such as copper, zinc, mercury, among others, for the purification and refinement processes. Some of these elements are very harmful and toxic not only to humans and animals but to nature as well, worsening the environmental impact of metal extraction. Aside from this, you also have to think of the transportation costs of extracted metal. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 16. Juvenile Violent Crime And Juvenile Crime Rates According to (Walton, 2014), as far back as the late 1800 s, children have been sentenced to the same punishments as adults, depending on the crime they committed. Punishments even included death if the juvenile was deemed to be past the point of help. Later on courts were geared more towards rehabilitation than punishment. Reform movements came along and parents could send their children off to reformatories to live and work as part of their rehabilitation. Due to poor living and working conditions many of these places were closed down. Soon after the Progressive Era, the first juvenile court system was opened in Illinois. The main focus of these courts was rehabilitation for the juveniles (Fiorillo, 2013). Juvenile violent crime rates had increased so much that law makers knew they had to do something to combat all of the violence. Juveniles were committing murder, assault, rape and other serious crimes which sent the public into a fear overload. These increases in juvenile violent crimes lead to some of our early get tough on juvenile laws. Policy makers were inclined to push for harsher laws for juveniles who committed violent crimes. The increase in juvenile crimes led lawmakers away from implementing laws the focused on rehabilitation and back to laws that focused on punishment. States began to develop statutes allowed juveniles to be tried in the same court system and receive the same sentences as adults. These statutes brought important reforms to the juvenile ...
