West African American Slavery In The 1800s
Slavery has been around for thousands of years, but suddenly in the eighteen hundreds people started
to oppose it. The New York Tribune wrote Time Machine 1846, and the Washington Post published
West African Country struggles to come to terms with its slavery past ; two articles that investigate the
topic of slavery in the nineteenth century. In west Africa there is a small country along the coast called
Benin. The whole country is in controversy over the country s history and whether or not they should
support their slavery past. In 1846, a man by the name of Northrup witnessed a slave auction and the
cruelty of buying slaves. These two articles have similarities but are also quite different. The most
common attribute that both the articles

Oskar Schindler Hero
When you think of a World War II hero, you might think of a soldier who fought for his country and
our freedom. Of course, anyone who fought in World War II should be considered a hero but there are
many non military heroes from that time too. Oskar Schindler is one of those people. He was a
German industrialist, a spy, and member of the Nazi Party who is responsible for saving 1,200 Jews
lives during the Holocaust by giving them jobs in his enamelware and ammunitions factories.
Schindler was born April 28th, 1908, into a Sudeten German family in Zwittau, Moravia, Austria
Hungary. His father was Johann Hans Schindler, who owned a farm machinery business. His mother
was Franziska Fanny Schindler. He had a sister named, Elfriede, who was born in 1915. After
attending primary and secondary school, Schindler enrolled in a technical school but he was expelled
in 1924 for forging his report card. He later graduated, but did not take the Abitur exams that he would
have needed to go to college. Instead he took classes in Brno in several different trades, including
chauffeuring and machinery. He also worked for his dad for three years. Schindler loved motorcycles

Analysis Of Cat On A Hot Tin Roof
CAT ON A HOT TIN ROOF
A drunk man s words are an honest man s thoughts, as the saying goes. And in the lore of drunken
family get togethers, as the loom ever closer, usually the most damning of anecdotes and artifacts
come to surface to shock those into fits of anger, confusion and perhaps even out of love. The truth
hurts, after all. But like anyone who s suffered through a challenging Thanksgiving dinner or worse, a
death in the family, the pains of truth can be a baptism of fire. The truth is fire underneath Cat on a
Hot Tin Roof, and Tennessee Williams commands it with aplomb.
The closest we could probably get to immortality would either be a Facebook page or having children,
and since there were no Facebook pages in 1958 when COAHTR was adapted into film, the director,
Richard Brooks would most certainly pull the focus on next of kin and what we leave behind for them.
Brooks himself was a prolific screenwriter and director with repertoire that s too long for an IMDB
page, but includes such works as Fever Pitch, and In Cold Blood. He had good taste in adaptable work
but from the beginning Brooks was always a writer, and that s where stories begin too. While we get
to see a lot of visual winks at sexual tension, and Paul Newman s drunkenly breaking his leg jumping
over hurdles, Brooks doesn t deviate far from the story. Directing is writing with a camera, as the man
said, but in this case, he is practically reciting out of reverence to Tennessee Williams

Protest For The National Anthem Of The United States
Emily Petrochuk Professor Psenicka English 102 31 October 2016 Protests to the National Anthem of
the United States A famous sports figure in history once said, I cannot stand and sing the anthem. I
cannot salute the flag. I know that I am a black man in a white world (McKirdy). At first glance, this
quote seems to be something that would have been said by the San Francisco 49ers Quarterback, Colin
Kaepernick, in light of his recent protests, as well as other sports players who decided to follow suit,
to the playing of the national anthem before football games. However, this is not the case. The above
quote was written in the 1972 autobiography, I Never Had it Made, written by Jackie Robinson, an
African American Baseball player (McKirdy). Colin Kaepernick obviously felt the same as Jackie
Robinson did when he sat on the bench rather than standing during a rendition of the national anthem
before a preseason game against the Green Bay Packers on August 26. During an interview with the
media following the game, Kaepernick explained why he refused to stand for the anthem, I am not
going to stand up to show pride in a flag for a country that oppresses black people and people of color.
To me, this is bigger than football and it would be selfish on my part to look the other way. There are
bodies in the street and people getting paid leave and getting away with murder (Wyche). Kaepernick
explains that he refused to stand for the national anthem because of the

Louise Nevelson
Sky Cathedral Presence
Survey of World Art
By
Vyacheslav Borts
The sculptress Louise Nevelson was a towering figure of American modernism. Born in 1899, she
came to prominence in the late 50s, gaining renown for monochromatic structures built out of
discarded wood. Critic Arthur C. Danto wrote, There could be no better word for how Nevelson
composed her work than bricolage a French term that means making do with what is at hand. (Danto
2007) Her pieces evolved and expanded in size across the latter 20th century, moving from smaller
pieces to wall sized ones, and the plays of volume therein, between light and mass, generated
comparisons to numerous different movements. The following paper will examine these ... Show more

The poignancy of this girl s untimely death and the instant of life the Grave Stele captures are both
magnified by the weight and constancy of the marble. By contrast, Nevelson achieves something like
suppleness in Sky Cathedral by her use of multiple layers and multiple new spaces that emerge from
different vantage points. From the Attic Greek to the Augustan age brings one to the Imperial
Procession, located on the North frieze of the Ara Pacis Augustae (Fig. 4). The first two sculptures put
into conversation with Sky Cathedral were mortuary, but the Imperial Procession is celebratory. The
first two are both smaller than four feet, but the Procession is life sized, so its visual force is thus
magnified. Finally, the individuals therein are not idealized types, in contrast to earlier Greek modes
of statuary they naturalistic depictions of many actual people in the line of the Caesars. The Ara Pacis
took four years to build, due to its desired scale and quality, and that scale points to a salient evolution
from the Greeks to the Romans. Riegl claimed this vector went from what he call[ed] the haptic
objectivism of the Greeks the delineation of the clarity of the object through an appeal to and a
stimulation of the tactile associations of the viewer to the optical objectivism of Roman art, in which
the need to set the figure up in space as radically

Contemporary Quebec In The Twentieth Century
In many ways, contemporary Quebec is a drastically different society than the Quebec of the early
twentieth century. No longer can the majority of Quebecers be described as religious, rural, and
conservative; instead they are generally secular, urban, and liberal. This transformation has come
about largely because of the change in values that occurred as Quebec modernized: today s Quebec is
built around the values of secularism, gender equality, and the primacy of the French language,
principles that would have seemed outlandish a few generations ago. Change triggers the urge to ask
questions, and in this case, the question raised is whether or not Quebec society is better off as a result
of its commitment to these values. In my opinion, one ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Women attain higher education, have greater control of their bodies, make their own choices, and
work in all professions, including politics. Obviously, women have thus benefited from this value
change, and in my opinion, that alone makes modern Quebec a superior society to the older one. I
would contend, however, that men have benefited as well, for they too are now freer to choose a
lifestyle that appeals to them, rather than the one that men are expected to live. They also benefit from
the inclusion of individuals with alternate skills and viewpoints in Quebec s public sphere, and from
greater protection of their own rights against gender discrimination. Moreover, a society that cares
about gender equality is more likely to care about other types of equality as well, and in my opinion,
this is true in the case of Quebec. While there are certainly still challenges to be addressed, Quebec
society is now more inclusive, diverse, and just, and I believe that commitment to gender equality is
related to this improvement. The last central value of modern Quebec society is the primacy of the
French language, and here, too, I believe that Quebec society was less healthy before this value was
committed to. Although the vast majority of Quebecers spoke French,

The And Of Public Broadcasting
Introduction
When you watch television, you re probably watching to educate yourself on what s going on around
you in today s society, to find entertainment, and stay up to date on today s latest trends.
In todays modern society people rely on the availability of information to make better decisions.
Whether as a voter, consumer or investor, Americans believe they will be able to form their own
idealistic views based on what they see in the media. However, that belief is just a fallacy. In my
opinion, viewers that believe this false pretense are unaware that a portion of mass media in the
Unites States is privately owned. In both public television and radio, the
Corporation for Public Broadcasting (CPB) funds a portion of their revenue (the
CPB is a private, nonprofit corporation created by Congress in 1967 as apart of the government s
investment in public broad casting). On the other hand, the individuals that are aware of this
information assume and/or believe that privately owned media outlets equal access to more truth.
What s often an important ideology, but also overlooked or missed, is the relationship between the
government and the mass media, and how their relationship interjects with our views of them.
The Media Role Society
The media s role is to relay information to the public. Looking at the evidence, and the relationship
between the government and the media, you will decided if private ownership means freedom from
government ownership. The

Speech On Diet And Nutrition
Anyone who is on a quest to live a long and healthy life should understands how important diet and
nutrition are to achieving the physically healthy body. Most of us delve deep into exercise and healthy
eating but we gloss over the topic of nutrition. There is a distinction that should be made between diet
and nutrition, these two concepts are mutually exclusive. Dieting involves making sure we eat right,
cut out the fats and the carbs, count daily calorie intake in our quest to either lose weight or get back
to a healthier size. Nutrition looks at the food we eat. It has to do with what our body derives from
what we feed it in terms of nutrients.
In order to understand the role of food in your life you need to be educated about the kinds of food
you should be eating and those that you need to steer clear of. The Cardinal Rule when it comes to
food and fitness is that you need food to function, food is the fuel that will get you through your
workout, help push you to do more and be more, however not all food is good for you. Beyond ...

Organizational Behavior ( Ob )
Organizational behavior (OB) is the study of how people interact within groups and can be used to
achieve a covenant relationship within organizations similar to the relationship that God has with His
people. Personalities have a significant role in OB and personality tests create value by allowing
organizations to determine ahead of time where potential conflict may arise between employees. The
Jung Typology Test classifies people into one of the sixteen personality types determined by Isabel
Briggs Myers and one of the four temperaments defined by David Keirsey. This discussion examines
the effect of my ISTJ personality type and SJ temperament on myself and those around me on a
personal and professional level. The analysis covers the strengths, weaknesses, and sources of conflict
associated with each individual aspect of the ISTJ personality introverted, sensing, thinking, and
judging as well as assessing the personality type as a whole. Lastly, the discussion concludes with
lessons I have learned regarding the use of OB in workplace improvement efforts, as well as specific
areas where I can use OB to enhance my performance as an employee, co worker, and manager.
Keywords: organizational behavior, Myers Briggs, ISTJ, personality, workplace

Louis spent vast amounts of money and time in building this image of France being this lavish and
advance society. Although it was easily reinforced by the fact that France was at the forefront of
science discoveries, art, music, and cultural advances. One of the Louis greatest accomplishments that
immortalized him was the Palace of Versailles. The Court often shifted from place to place. Louis and
his courtiers were based in the Louvre Palace, then the Tuileries, alternating with stints at the
Châteaux of Saint Germain en Laye, Vincennes, Fontainebleau and the rapidly growing Versailles.
They were finally based in Palace of Versailles on May 6, 1682, when it was inaugurated. Louis the
XIV was a monarch who ruled with absolute power, but it was driven because of his want to be
glorified in history and his younger misfortunes when we was growing during The Fronde. This
shaped him because he wasn t going to let the nobles usurp his power and he wanted to prove people

Evaluate The Effectiveness Of The Progressive Movement
At the beginning of 1900s, reformers pushed for a number of changes. Together their efforts build the
progressive movement. The progressive movement was a reform movement made to return control of
the government to the people, to get economic opportunities, and to correct injustices in American life.
The progressive movement was useful because it improved the political, social, and economics of
America. The movement is based on four major objectives, protect social welfare, promote moral
improvements, create economic reform and foster efficiency. Reformers tried to promote social
welfare by forming protestant movements for example The Social Gospel was the most prominent in
the late 19th century and early 20th century. The movement relates Christian principles to social
problems, especially poverty, inequality, liquor, bad hygiene, and crime. They believed that that the
second coming could not happen until humankind rid itself of social evils by human effort. The
Salvation Army emphasized the Christian duty to help those who were less fortunate and fed poor

core fundamental values. For the purpose of this assignment, the core fundamental value chosen shall
be Competence. In relation to the adult field of nursing, this is one of the most important values when
caring for a patient effectively (Scott Tilley, 2008.). In order to do this, Driscoll s model of reflection
(Driscoll, 2011) shall be used to assess the use of this competency within practice. This model was

The Downfall Of My Family
There is no pain quite as severe and longlasting as the pain of divorce. Nothing will ever compare to

that cannot be comprehended. However, just as a phoenix rises from the ashes of his destruction, one

this: What does not kill me will only make me stronger in the days to come. My home was built upon
the founding family virtues of love, happiness, laughter, and compassion. However, the foundation it
was built upon was made of sand, destined from the start to be sucked in below to the depths of
failure. How can any home hope to prosper without a stable foundation? The answer is that it simply
cannot. That was strike one of the downfall of my family in the late year of 2012. The pink and red

Ruby Primer
In order to test whether the curry leaf possesses one of the 6 alleles and whether it has a Ruby gene
promoter, PCR and gel electrophoresis was used. Primers, short DNA sequences designed specifically
for each allele of the Ruby gene, were used to isolate the gene and amplify it for PCR. Multiple PCRs
were performed, each using a different primer set. Primers attach to specific regions surrounding the
gene and amplify only the region that is flanked. The forward primer is bound to a specific sequence
before the Ruby promoter, found to precede the actual gene sequence, and the reverse primer is bound
to the DNA after the gene. In order for visible bands for gel electrophoresis to be produced, a forward
primer must bind to one strand of DNA and a reverse primer must bind to the strand complementary to
the one the forward primer binds to. If both primers bind to the same strand, the PCR product formed
will not produce a result after gel electrophoresis. The size of the gel band of the DNA amplified by

to the environmental claims levelled against it (Grocer). Every time someone throws a bottle away,
they have taken up more space in a landfill for the next four hundred fifty to one thousand years.
Besides the long decomposition rate, water bottles are the cause of several more environmental issues.
Overfilling landfills, health hazards caused by refilling, and the economic stresses due to the constant
and inconvenient repurchasing are just a few of the negatives water bottles have on us. These plastic
pollutants are doing more harm to both the environment and their users than good. The water bottle
industry is one of the fastest growing industries in the United States. This being said, our landfills are
filled with more than eighty five percent of plastic bottles. Their long lifetime and thoughtless
consumers are not only filing our dumps with these plastic bottles, but hurting our oceans too. Since
water bottles do not biodegrade, they can float aimlessly on the ocean surface for years. They also
may cause a passing predator to be fooled into thinking it is a resting prey. Little did that predator
know, they were going to have a serious stomach ache trying to digest a plastic bottle. It also pollutes
the soil and waterways as well. Besides the space water bottles physically fill, their production waste
is just as dire. In America alone, we use about seventeen

Symptoms And Treatment Of Polio
In the summer of 1959 a seven year old came in from play feeling feverish and headachy. His mother
gave him aspirin (the drug of choice in that time) and put him to bed with what she imagined was the
flu. The next morning his condition had produced physical weakness in his legs. A visit to the doctor,
and a spinal tap, brought the devastating news: polio. He was rushed to the isolation ward of the
county hospital where his condition was judged to be very grave; the next morning, he could move
nothing but his head. This young boy, my great uncle Ken, spent his childhood years in and out of
hospitals, enduring surgeries, wheelchairs, leg braces, and years of physical therapy before he was
able to walk. Why, at a time when the Salk vaccine was available, did my great grandmother, a woman
totally dedicated to the welfare of her children, choose not to vaccinate him against what was then the
great terror of childhood?
LIFE BEFORE VACCINES
No disease has had such a profound impact on humanity as smallpox. The Plague of Antonine, with a
death toll of between three and a half to seven million, hastened the decline of the Roman Empire
(Panic, 23). European explorers, bringing the disease to the New World, helped bring about the fall of
the Aztec and Incan empires. In the eighteenth century, 400,000 people a year died from smallpox
(Panic, 23).

The Argentine Process Of National Reorganization
The Argentine Process Of National Reorganization, more commonly known as the Dirty War, was a
period from roughly 1974 to 1983 when the president was deposed and the entire government was
taken control of by the military. This decade of civil destruction, turmoil, and human rights violations
was part of the military s plan to rid the country of the radical left and communist subversion. The
junta spoke of a New Argentina, one full of prosperity for all its citizens, order and no longer chaos,
they preached they would bring back Argentina s glory days. For all this talk of an Argentina that
would be once again a world power, no one knew of the atrocities the military would commit in the
process. They did not think of the innocent lives ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This stance made him popular amongst conservatives as well. While he started his ten year term with
large support, the cracks slowly started to show as the years progressed. In the beginning, his wife
Evita helped grow his appeal as she became a cult figure and created woman s institutions like a
women Perónist party. But after years of a healthy looking economy and growth, problems started to
arise in 1949. Inflation began to rise and unemployment grew. Perón tried to fix this by creating new
government jobs to make it look as if there was no problem. Many of his political opponents were
tortured, detained, or exiled. This also led to the signs of huge government corruption. After being
elected for another term in 1952, Perón tries to make his wife vice president to which the military
leaders said he was not allowed. Shortly after his reelection, Evita dies of cancer. This along with the
seemingly unfixable problem which was the economy, assassination plots began to be muttered.
Military rebellions began to break out around the country and Perón had the police round up his
opponents. Seeing the country in chaos, Perón resigns in 1955 and is exiled to Paraguay and then
Spain. The military was in control again and proceeded to ban the Perónist party. With Perón setting a
precedent for mass protest in the country, the 20 years before the beginning of the dirty war were a
battle between military intervention and the

Pele In Hawaiian Mythology
According to Hawaiian mythology, Pele is the fire goddess. Connected to volcanoes, lightning, fire
and wind, she is considered the creator of the Hawaiian Islands. Due to this, Pele is one of the best
known gods of the islands. Even today, visitors to the Ainopio Trail and the summit of Mauna Loa
bring offerings to Pele. Long ago, native Hawaiians began this tradition by climbing Mauna Loa with
offerings to appease Pele and win her favor. This same gorgeous trail can be used by visitors to reach
the summit and commune with the goddess. Arriving at the Islands Long ago, Pele was born into a
family of six daughters and seven sons. According to mythology, her mother was the earth goddess,

She fell for the mortal chief of Kauai, Lohiau. Hearing the sound of a hula festival, she used astral

promised to send for him, and her sister, Hiiaka, was sent to fetch him. Hiiaka s only requirement was
to go to Kauai, retrieve Lohiau and avoid kissing him. Arriving after many days, Hiiaka was distraught
to discover that Lohiau had died. Lucky for her, she saw his spirit darting above the mountain tops.
Capturing the spirit, she managed to return it to his body. Returning to Pele, Hiiaka was so excited that
she hugged and kissed Lohiau without thinking about it. Assuming that Hiaaka was trying to mock
her, Pele destroyed Lohiau by covering him in lava. At the same time, Pele s brothers had just returned
from traveling. Seeing the body of Lohiau, they brought him back to life and Lohiau fell in love with
Hiiaka. Together, Hiiaka and Lohiau settled down in a house on Ke e Beach in Haena. Today, a stone

Stereotypes Of Latinos Essay
Latinos in U. S. A. and Hollywood s Discrimination
Hispanic or Latino, is a segment of the population in the States of the American Union that has grown
in quantity, economy and education, and everything indicates that it would continue in the same way,
as a result of the Hispanic people has inhabited here, even before this country conformed as the United
States. Latinos also have made important contributions to this country in all aspects and levels and
areas to society, of the sort of the arts, sports and politics. Cinema is considered an art, the seventh art,
as well it is a form of expression and reflection of society and its times. In consequence, filming is a
very important business, and Hollywood is the mecca of the industry. Then, we could expect that the
significance of their presence would be properly portrayed. But, to the contrary to we might assume,
we see in Hollywood s filmography that they have been assigned few roles, which are also mostly
stereotyped and unflattering. In this essay, we will review some ... Show more content on

All these stereotypes of immigrants and Latinos definitely impact the opinions and attitudes that non
Latinos can have towards Latinos and immigrants. It is true that immigrants are not all Latinos, many
also come from Europe, Asia, etc. It is also true that not all Latinos are the best persons, and some of
them have fallen entangled into the judicial system. But not all Latins are criminals, these represents a
minority and it is not fair to generalize, as well in the system exist White persons and from all other
races. And many of these cases could be blamed to the lack of opportunities. Then, these stereotypes
do not reflect the reality or values of the Hispanic community, which mostly are honest and

Digital Printing And Its Effect On Building Houses
Your next house could be made out of concrete, by a 3D printer, in 20 hours. 3D printing, also known
as Additive Manufacturing, is revolutionizing the way we build houses. This topic is extremely
important, as it could save us time and money. While it could be expensive to build the printers and
research the idea, this new idea of this construction method is worth the preliminary investment
because 3D printing saves money on building materials, labor, and building 3D printed homes releases
half the pollution of a normal construction site. Currently, the commercially available 3D printers we
have are only able to print in plastic. Some custom printers are able to print in concrete, such as the
Concrete Printer by Andrey Rudenko, or the printers owned by the company Win Sun, based in
Shanghai. But no printer is capable of printing an entire house, so far the printers are only able to print
out the pieces. Each piece is assembled into the house at the construction site.
If we had a strong enough and large enough printer that could print entire houses, many communities
that suffer from homelessness problems could set up some kind of funding to be able to provide
housing for many people, and homelessness would no longer be a problem the United States has to
bear any longer. The 3D printers you can buy on the internet are around $500 for a basic printer, to
$4500 for a professional home printer. A printer of significant magnitude and size able to print in
concrete is estimated

Stuart Mill Individuality
Introduction
John Stuart Mill (1806 1873) is recognised as one of the most prolific thinkers of the nineteenth
century, whose liberal political philosophy has influenced intellectuals and political theorists for
decades (Feinberg, 1986). At the same time, Mill s utilitarian approach to society at large reveals
sensibilities and moral considerations that enhance his liberal attitudes in the most surprising ways.
According to Losurdo (2011), it is widely believed that Mill is one of the greatest opponents of
paternalism, supporting individuals liberty and autonomy. However, Mill is also accused of overt
sentiment, ignorance of natural rights, or a diversion from original conceptions of Utilitarianism. As a
result, this essay is concerned with his conception of individuality, as discussed in his On Liberty
(1859), investigating how this notion, based on individual liberty and autonomy, opposes social
control and paternalistic policies.
On the one hand, the essay looks at the ideal of individuality, and its values outside of state ... Show

However, is this political approach immune to social desires to regulate and guard all citizens? This
work explores such tensions between freedom and liberty, and enforced state control, assessing Mill s
liberal utilitarian politics, and their impact on individual lives.
Thesis Statement
This essay argues that John Stuart Mill s On Liberty presents a strong case for individuality of
citizens, challenging the role of paternalism through autonomous social progress and utilitarian values.
On the other hand, it is shown that Mill s arguments against public regulations are very narrow, and
his own ideas frequently adhere to paternalism, thus creating a weak defence against state control
politics.

The Cult Of True Womanhood Summary
In The Cult of True Womanhood by: Barbara Walters, she explains how women of the reform era were
expected to submit totally to their husbands and societal pressures to gain a high level of respect while
women that fell short of nearly unattainable standards were publicly ostracized. During this period in
America women were finally being recognized as important members of society, and on a more
personal level men were recognizing that women had emotional qualities that also held value. Women
were seen as more naturally pure and moral in this era. On top of moral obligations the mother of a
family had many worldly responsibilities. Women were expected to serve as nurse to the family, a
sexual and moral companion to the husband, and a spiritual figure within the community. On top of
their worldly duties women were also expected to be dainty, but not high maintenance, and
submissive, but not mindless. The reading of books was encouraged for maintaining a sharp mind, but
not books that were highly educated either, so the Bible became a constant source of knowledge and
moral guidance. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
From birth until marriage women were taught to retain their virginity because a woman s physical
form was all she truly owned. After a women had given this worldly possession away they had no
leverage and was expected to care of children and maintain the household. Loss of virginity before
marriage or a lack of affection for her children were grave accusations on a woman s moral character.
A woman that enjoyed sex before marriage was seen as disgraced in the eyes of God and the
community. Sensationalized accounts of disgraced women appeared in magazines and stories to
remind future mothers of the importance of keeping their gift. Women had to personify purity and
patience, while functioning as the head of the house, all while being completely overruled by the
wishes of their

Juliet is in the middle of a prologue when she says For wilt thou lie upon the wings of the night,
whiter than the snow upon a Raven s back. Come gentle night come, loving, black brow d night give
me my Romeo . (III.iii 18 20) That quote shows personification because Romeo is being compared to
snow on a raven s back. Juliet is also giving the nighttime un realistic features like loving and gentle
personalities. Also it is asking for the sky to bring her true lover to her. It shows true love because she
is asking something, yes an object, to bring her, her true lover and if she didn t love him, she wouldn t
have asked. Therefore that shows that Juliet has a true compassion about loving Romeo. When Romeo
first met Juliet, Juliet wonders how he entered the gates community until her answered back saying:
With love s light wings did i o erperch these wall are no stop to me .(II.ii 66 70) The love isn t going
to get through stone walls, this quote shows personification because walls can and will hold you out,
unless you have some heavy machinery to get through them with. Romeo s choice of word show
personification because your Wings which no one has. Will Help you get over a stone wall. They aren
t going to do anything. Therefore it shows true love because he is trying to sound smart s Juliet will
love him. Those are great examples of personification because it shows how the personification that
Shakespeare uses is a symbol of true

Southern Women Historiography Summary
Kyriakoudes stands against the Agrarian myth of the South, finding many rural citizens moved toward
local urban centers and a found that economically and that agriculture was insufficient to support rural
families. Dropping prices created generations of rural youths looking to escape the farm and try their
hand at survival in the city (provided they were close enough to still be within the safety net of home.
Kyriakoudes noted that more women were migrating to Nashville, if you were a woman, you were not
getting land so you went to the city and sent money back home. However, in the newly minted
capitalist economy, money equates to power, socio cultural agency, and new narratives of the Southern
experience. These women possessed a sense of autonomy and diverse experiences as expressed by a
generation earlier by African American domestic workers in Atlanta and the homogenous rural,
Southern woman. Work, Family and Faith, was edited to provide readers with an accessible
introduction to the multiplicity of lives that constructed the supposedly homogenous group of rural
Southern women . Oral histories of rural southern women blend to reveal narratives about the region
and nation that were silent in the historiography. Following in the steps of Tera Hunter, Walker and
Sharpless accentuated how vital women were to the construction of Southern history and society. They
even touched upon the experiences of rural African American women, often over looked in the
historiography due

Hinduism Symbolism
II. Part A
The fascinating religion, Hinduism, is composed of multiple complex gods and goddesses and filled
with interesting traditions, all of which can be studied through ancient arts that depict various parts of
the religion. The great gods and goddesses of Hinduism serve with different purposes, roles and
depicts based of their stories. For instance, the god Shiva is known as the destroyer because of his
creative power and furiousness. One of his popular tales describes how he took on a powerful trinity
of tyrannical cities that were corrupting the city. Like most gods, Shiva is depicted with superhuman
qualities; he often has serpents on his neck and unkempt hair. Another great god, Vishnu, is quite the
opposite from Shiva because he is known as the preserver, of the universe especially. His role is to
observe the cycle of the world and make sure everything is preserved and goes well; also, his
depiction varies from the other great god, so he is represented with a flower in his (multiple) hands.
Additionally, goddesses are also valued in the Hindu religion; for example, the goddess, Durga, is
responsible for restoring moral order and often fights, but she still has compassion and love. She is
often represented on a lion for courage. The representation for each god and goddesses varies but each
accessory is symbolic to their powers. The main reason why they are depicted with various animal
parts, weapons, or other certain appearances that may be unhuman like, is to show

Hamlet And Ophelia In Shakespeare s Hamlet
In the Shakespeare play hamlet, Hamlet tries to hide a lot of emotions. In the play hamlet and ophelia
are said to be in love or that Ophelia loves hamlet. Although people believe they are in love, Hamlet
does not really act like he does love her. In the play, Hamlet has an unknown relationship with ophelia
that could be fake; But there could be some reasoning behind the relationship and why he would be
using her. Throughout the play Hamlet does not treat Ophelia well and sometimes even insults her. He
had said many times Get thee to a nunnery (III.I). He would often say this throughout this
conversation as another way to make her feel bad. That he was trying to hurt but still look as if he
loved her to others. Also later when Ophelia talks about what happened she said He took me by the
wrist and held me hard (II.I). That in the conversation between hamlet and Ophelia when Hamlet was
not verbally hurting her, he would sometimes get physical. Hamlet would often use this as a way to
show how insane he was getting. Also when Ophelia was talking to Polonius she said And thrice his
head thus waving up and down (II.I). This is another example of when Hamlet do things to make
himself seem more insane. Also he is using Ophelia again as a way to spread about himself that he
wants. So Hamlet would verbally and sometimes physically hurt her to get her to do what he wants.
Hamlet had felt that he would have a better connection to the people around him if he was with
Ophelia.

Who Is The Protagonist In Greasy Lake
In the short story Greasy Lake the narrator, our protagonist, describes himself as a 19 year old rebel,
but as the story progresses, we learn how it is all a façade to try to be like the rest of the kids his age.
What started off as a joke to who he thought was his friend Tony Lovett, turned out to be a life lesson
that would crash down his false image of a bad boy. A series of events trigger his common sense and
make him see that his way of living will bring him severe consequences or even death itself. The
narrator changes his opinion on who he wants to be by the end of the story, therefore making him a
round character. When we first meet the narrator and his two friends, we learn that [they] wore torn up
leather jackets, slouched around with toothpicks in [their] mouths, sniffed glue and ether and what
somebody claimed was cocaine (129). This is an example of the rebellious things he does in order to
keep up his bad character image. He goes to the lake because that is where all the bad people hang out
to watch a girl take her clothes off and plunge into the festering murk, drink beer, [and] smoke pot
(129). The lake itself represents how rotten today s adolescents have become, so that is why the lake is
the center of it all. His fight with the man he describes as a greasy character shows how he tries to go
along with his façade, but fails miserably when he gets kicked under the chin, until he knocks him out
with the tire iron. Just when he thinks it s all over, a

That there are long term physical and psychological consequences of torture in regards to Iraqi
detainees due to months of abuse and mistreatment. The lack of sound medical professionals also
needs to be called to attention. Upon the interviewing and debriefing the detainee victims in this case,
resulted in significant long term physical and psychological suffering. Forensic psychological
evaluations tests such as the Istanbul protocol were conducted on both former Iraqi detainees of Abu

Although Keller offered persuasive evidence to support his analysis of significant psychological

  • 2. West African American Slavery In The 1800s Slavery has been around for thousands of years, but suddenly in the eighteen hundreds people started to oppose it. The New York Tribune wrote Time Machine 1846, and the Washington Post published West African Country struggles to come to terms with its slavery past ; two articles that investigate the topic of slavery in the nineteenth century. In west Africa there is a small country along the coast called Benin. The whole country is in controversy over the country s history and whether or not they should support their slavery past. In 1846, a man by the name of Northrup witnessed a slave auction and the cruelty of buying slaves. These two articles have similarities but are also quite different. • 3. Oskar Schindler Hero When you think of a World War II hero, you might think of a soldier who fought for his country and our freedom. Of course, anyone who fought in World War II should be considered a hero but there are many non military heroes from that time too. Oskar Schindler is one of those people. He was a German industrialist, a spy, and member of the Nazi Party who is responsible for saving 1,200 Jews lives during the Holocaust by giving them jobs in his enamelware and ammunitions factories. Schindler was born April 28th, 1908, into a Sudeten German family in Zwittau, Moravia, Austria Hungary. His father was Johann Hans Schindler, who owned a farm machinery business. His mother was Franziska Fanny Schindler. He had a sister named, Elfriede, who was born in 1915. After attending primary and secondary school, Schindler enrolled in a technical school but he was expelled in 1924 for forging his report card. He later graduated, but did not take the Abitur exams that he would have needed to go to college. Instead he took classes in Brno in several different trades, including chauffeuring and machinery. He also worked for his dad for three years. Schindler loved motorcycles and bought a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Schindler was in the Czech army for 18 months, where he rose to the rank of Lance Corporal in the Tenth Infantry Regiment of the 31st Army. After that he went back to Moravian Electrotechnic. • 4. Analysis Of Cat On A Hot Tin Roof CAT ON A HOT TIN ROOF A drunk man s words are an honest man s thoughts, as the saying goes. And in the lore of drunken family get togethers, as the loom ever closer, usually the most damning of anecdotes and artifacts come to surface to shock those into fits of anger, confusion and perhaps even out of love. The truth hurts, after all. But like anyone who s suffered through a challenging Thanksgiving dinner or worse, a death in the family, the pains of truth can be a baptism of fire. The truth is fire underneath Cat on a Hot Tin Roof, and Tennessee Williams commands it with aplomb. The closest we could probably get to immortality would either be a Facebook page or having children, and since there were no Facebook pages in 1958 when COAHTR was adapted into film, the director, Richard Brooks would most certainly pull the focus on next of kin and what we leave behind for them. Brooks himself was a prolific screenwriter and director with repertoire that s too long for an IMDB page, but includes such works as Fever Pitch, and In Cold Blood. He had good taste in adaptable work but from the beginning Brooks was always a writer, and that s where stories begin too. While we get to see a lot of visual winks at sexual tension, and Paul Newman s drunkenly breaking his leg jumping over hurdles, Brooks doesn t deviate far from the story. Directing is writing with a camera, as the man said, but in this case, he is practically reciting out of reverence to Tennessee Williams ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Protest For The National Anthem Of The United States Emily Petrochuk Professor Psenicka English 102 31 October 2016 Protests to the National Anthem of the United States A famous sports figure in history once said, I cannot stand and sing the anthem. I cannot salute the flag. I know that I am a black man in a white world (McKirdy). At first glance, this quote seems to be something that would have been said by the San Francisco 49ers Quarterback, Colin Kaepernick, in light of his recent protests, as well as other sports players who decided to follow suit, to the playing of the national anthem before football games. However, this is not the case. The above quote was written in the 1972 autobiography, I Never Had it Made, written by Jackie Robinson, an African American Baseball player (McKirdy). Colin Kaepernick obviously felt the same as Jackie Robinson did when he sat on the bench rather than standing during a rendition of the national anthem before a preseason game against the Green Bay Packers on August 26. During an interview with the media following the game, Kaepernick explained why he refused to stand for the anthem, I am not going to stand up to show pride in a flag for a country that oppresses black people and people of color. To me, this is bigger than football and it would be selfish on my part to look the other way. There are bodies in the street and people getting paid leave and getting away with murder (Wyche). • 6. Louise Nevelson Louise Nevelson Sky Cathedral Presence Survey of World Art By Vyacheslav Borts The sculptress Louise Nevelson was a towering figure of American modernism. Born in 1899, she came to prominence in the late 50s, gaining renown for monochromatic structures built out of discarded wood. Critic Arthur C. Danto wrote, There could be no better word for how Nevelson composed her work than bricolage a French term that means making do with what is at hand. (Danto 2007) Her pieces evolved and expanded in size across the latter 20th century, moving from smaller pieces to wall sized ones, and the plays of volume therein, between light and mass, generated comparisons to numerous different movements. The following paper will examine these ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The poignancy of this girl s untimely death and the instant of life the Grave Stele captures are both magnified by the weight and constancy of the marble. By contrast, Nevelson achieves something like suppleness in Sky Cathedral by her use of multiple layers and multiple new spaces that emerge from different vantage points. From the Attic Greek to the Augustan age brings one to the Imperial Procession, located on the North frieze of the Ara Pacis Augustae (Fig. 4). The first two sculptures put into conversation with Sky Cathedral were mortuary, but the Imperial Procession is celebratory. The first two are both smaller than four feet, but the Procession is life sized, so its visual force is thus magnified. Finally, the individuals therein are not idealized types, in contrast to earlier Greek modes of statuary they naturalistic depictions of many actual people in the line of the Caesars. The Ara Pacis took four years to build, due to its desired scale and quality, and that scale points to a salient evolution from the Greeks to the Romans. Riegl claimed this vector went from what he call[ed] the haptic objectivism of the Greeks the delineation of the clarity of the object through an appeal to and a stimulation of the tactile associations of the viewer to the optical objectivism of Roman art, in which the need to set the figure up in space as radically ... • 7. Contemporary Quebec In The Twentieth Century In many ways, contemporary Quebec is a drastically different society than the Quebec of the early twentieth century. No longer can the majority of Quebecers be described as religious, rural, and conservative; instead they are generally secular, urban, and liberal. This transformation has come about largely because of the change in values that occurred as Quebec modernized: today s Quebec is built around the values of secularism, gender equality, and the primacy of the French language, principles that would have seemed outlandish a few generations ago. Change triggers the urge to ask questions, and in this case, the question raised is whether or not Quebec society is better off as a result of its commitment to these values. In my opinion, one ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Women attain higher education, have greater control of their bodies, make their own choices, and work in all professions, including politics. Obviously, women have thus benefited from this value change, and in my opinion, that alone makes modern Quebec a superior society to the older one. I would contend, however, that men have benefited as well, for they too are now freer to choose a lifestyle that appeals to them, rather than the one that men are expected to live. They also benefit from the inclusion of individuals with alternate skills and viewpoints in Quebec s public sphere, and from greater protection of their own rights against gender discrimination. Moreover, a society that cares about gender equality is more likely to care about other types of equality as well, and in my opinion, this is true in the case of Quebec. While there are certainly still challenges to be addressed, Quebec society is now more inclusive, diverse, and just, and I believe that commitment to gender equality is related to this improvement. The last central value of modern Quebec society is the primacy of the French language, and here, too, I believe that Quebec society was less healthy before this value was committed to. Although the vast majority of Quebecers spoke French, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. The And Of Public Broadcasting Introduction When you watch television, you re probably watching to educate yourself on what s going on around you in today s society, to find entertainment, and stay up to date on today s latest trends. In todays modern society people rely on the availability of information to make better decisions. Whether as a voter, consumer or investor, Americans believe they will be able to form their own idealistic views based on what they see in the media. However, that belief is just a fallacy. In my opinion, viewers that believe this false pretense are unaware that a portion of mass media in the Unites States is privately owned. In both public television and radio, the Corporation for Public Broadcasting (CPB) funds a portion of their revenue (the CPB is a private, nonprofit corporation created by Congress in 1967 as apart of the government s investment in public broad casting). On the other hand, the individuals that are aware of this information assume and/or believe that privately owned media outlets equal access to more truth. What s often an important ideology, but also overlooked or missed, is the relationship between the government and the mass media, and how their relationship interjects with our views of them. The Media Role Society The media s role is to relay information to the public. Looking at the evidence, and the relationship between the government and the media, you will decided if private ownership means freedom from government ownership. The For Better, or ... Most of us delve deep into exercise and healthy eating but we gloss over the topic of nutrition. There is a distinction that should be made between diet and nutrition, these two concepts are mutually exclusive. Dieting involves making sure we eat right, cut out the fats and the carbs, count daily calorie intake in our quest to either lose weight or get back to a healthier size. Nutrition looks at the food we eat. It has to do with what our body derives from what we feed it in terms of nutrients. In order to understand the role of food in your life you need to be educated about the kinds of food you should be eating and those that you need to steer clear of. • 10. Organizational Behavior ( Ob ) Organizational behavior (OB) is the study of how people interact within groups and can be used to achieve a covenant relationship within organizations similar to the relationship that God has with His people. Personalities have a significant role in OB and personality tests create value by allowing organizations to determine ahead of time where potential conflict may arise between employees. The Jung Typology Test classifies people into one of the sixteen personality types determined by Isabel Briggs Myers and one of the four temperaments defined by David Keirsey. This discussion examines the effect of my ISTJ personality type and SJ temperament on myself and those around me on a personal and professional level. The analysis covers the strengths, weaknesses, and sources of conflict associated with each individual aspect of the ISTJ personality introverted, sensing, thinking, and judging as well as assessing the personality type as a whole. Lastly, the discussion concludes with lessons I have learned regarding the use of OB in workplace improvement efforts, as well as specific areas where I can use OB to enhance my performance as an employee, co worker, and manager. Louis and his courtiers were based in the Louvre Palace, then the Tuileries, alternating with stints at the Châteaux of Saint Germain en Laye, Vincennes, Fontainebleau and the rapidly growing Versailles. They were finally based in Palace of Versailles on May 6, 1682, when it was inaugurated. Louis the XIV was a monarch who ruled with absolute power, but it was driven because of his want to be glorified in history and his younger misfortunes when we was growing during The Fronde. • 21. Ruby Primer In order to test whether the curry leaf possesses one of the 6 alleles and whether it has a Ruby gene promoter, PCR and gel electrophoresis was used. Primers, short DNA sequences designed specifically for each allele of the Ruby gene, were used to isolate the gene and amplify it for PCR. Multiple PCRs were performed, each using a different primer set. Primers attach to specific regions surrounding the gene and amplify only the region that is flanked. The forward primer is bound to a specific sequence before the Ruby promoter, found to precede the actual gene sequence, and the reverse primer is bound to the DNA after the gene. In order for visible bands for gel electrophoresis to be produced, a forward primer must bind to one strand of DNA and a reverse primer must bind to the strand complementary to the one the forward primer binds to. If both primers bind to the same strand, the PCR product formed will not produce a result after gel electrophoresis. Environmental Issues Of The Bottled Water Industry Water Bottle Waste One of the biggest challenges facing the bottled water industry is how to respond to the environmental claims levelled against it (Grocer). Every time someone throws a bottle away, they have taken up more space in a landfill for the next four hundred fifty to one thousand years. Besides the long decomposition rate, water bottles are the cause of several more environmental issues. Overfilling landfills, health hazards caused by refilling, and the economic stresses due to the constant and inconvenient repurchasing are just a few of the negatives water bottles have on us. These plastic pollutants are doing more harm to both the environment and their users than good. The water bottle industry is one of the fastest growing industries in the United States. This being said, our landfills are filled with more than eighty five percent of plastic bottles. Their long lifetime and thoughtless consumers are not only filing our dumps with these plastic bottles, but hurting our oceans too. Since water bottles do not biodegrade, they can float aimlessly on the ocean surface for years. They also may cause a passing predator to be fooled into thinking it is a resting prey. Little did that predator know, they were going to have a serious stomach ache trying to digest a plastic bottle. It also pollutes the soil and waterways as well. Besides the space water bottles physically fill, their production waste is just as dire. In America alone, we use about seventeen ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Digital Printing And Its Effect On Building Houses Your next house could be made out of concrete, by a 3D printer, in 20 hours. 3D printing, also known as Additive Manufacturing, is revolutionizing the way we build houses. This topic is extremely important, as it could save us time and money. While it could be expensive to build the printers and research the idea, this new idea of this construction method is worth the preliminary investment because 3D printing saves money on building materials, labor, and building 3D printed homes releases half the pollution of a normal construction site. Currently, the commercially available 3D printers we have are only able to print in plastic. According to Losurdo (2011), it is widely believed that Mill is one of the greatest opponents of paternalism, supporting individuals liberty and autonomy. During this period in America women were finally being recognized as important members of society, and on a more personal level men were recognizing that women had emotional qualities that also held value. Women were seen as more naturally pure and moral in this era. On top of moral obligations the mother of a family had many worldly responsibilities. Women were expected to serve as nurse to the family, a sexual and moral companion to the husband, and a spiritual figure within the community. On top of their worldly duties women were also expected to be dainty, but not high maintenance, and submissive, but not mindless. In the play, Hamlet has an unknown relationship with ophelia that could be fake; But there could be some reasoning behind the relationship and why he would be using her. Throughout the play Hamlet does not treat Ophelia well and sometimes even insults her. He had said many times Get thee to a nunnery (III.I). He would often say this throughout this conversation as another way to make her feel bad. That he was trying to hurt but still look as if he loved her to others. Also later when Ophelia talks about what happened she said He took me by the wrist and held me hard (II.I). That in the conversation between hamlet and Ophelia when Hamlet was not verbally hurting her, he would sometimes get physical. Hamlet would often use this as a way to show how insane he was getting. Also when Ophelia was talking to Polonius she said And thrice his head thus waving up and down (II.I). This is another example of when Hamlet do things to make himself seem more insane. Also he is using Ophelia again as a way to spread about himself that he wants. So Hamlet would verbally and sometimes physically hurt her to get her to do what he wants. A series of events trigger his common sense and make him see that his way of living will bring him severe consequences or even death itself. The narrator changes his opinion on who he wants to be by the end of the story, therefore making him a round character. When we first meet the narrator and his two friends, we learn that [they] wore torn up leather jackets, slouched around with toothpicks in [their] mouths, sniffed glue and ether and what somebody claimed was cocaine (129). He goes to the lake because that is where all the bad people hang out to watch a girl take her clothes off and plunge into the festering murk, drink beer, [and] smoke pot (129). The lake itself represents how rotten today s adolescents have become, so that is why the lake is the center of it all. Just when he thinks it s all over, a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
