Advantages And Disadvantages Of Bldc Motor
Abstract: A dc Brushless Motor uses a permanent magnet external rotor, three phases of driving
coils, one or more Hall Effect devices to sense the position of the rotor, and the associated drive
electronics. The coils are activated, one phase after the other, by the drive electronics as cued by
the signals from the Hall effect sensors, they act as three phase synchronous motors containing their
own variable frequency drive electronics. A simplified current controlled modulation technique for
BLDC motors is presented. The advantages of this strategy are: 1. Very simple control scheme. 2.
Phase currents are kept balanced. 3. The current is controlled through only one DC component 1.1

In an outer rotor style, the windings are situated within the core of the motor. The rotor magnets
surround the stator coil windings as shown here. The rotor magnets act as an dielectric, thereby
reducing the speed of heat dissipation from the motor. Because of the situation of the stator coil
windings, outer rotor styles usually operate at lower duty cycles or at a lower rated current. The
first advantage of an outer rotor BLDC motor is comparatively low cogging force. In an inner
rotor style, the stator coil windings surround the rotor and are mounted to the motor s housing as
shown here. The first advantage of an inner rotor construction is its ability to dissipate heat. A
motor s ability to dissipate heat directly impacts its ability to provide force. For this reason, the
overwhelming majority of BLDC motors use an inner rotor style. Another advantage of an inner
rotor style is lower rotor inertia. Advantages: High Speed Operation A BLDC motor can operate at
speeds approximately ten thousand revolutions per minute under loaded and unloaded conditions.
Responsiveness Inner rotor Brushless DC motors have low rotor inertia, allowing them to
accelerate, decelerate, and reverse direction

Athenian Democracy Dbq Essay
During the Golden Age in Greece, many things changed. Things that changed were the diversity of
political views and the social doings of the Athenians and the organization of the Athenians
economy. With the Golden Age, many groups worked together that wouldn t normally interact. The
biggest example of that is the relationship between Athenians and their democracy.
The first example of the relationship between the Athenians and their democracy during the golden
age was the diversity of political views that the Athenians followed. Too start in document 3 written
by Isocrates an Athenian political statesman, orator, and writer and made in the year 346 BCE and
the point they are trying to get across is that back then they did not have a political system
/government which in turn made the people do whatever they wanted which was bad. Then in
document 4 written by Aeschines an Athenian political statesmen, orator, and writer, and made in
the year 330 BCE. The author s point of view from this document is that how the three forms of
government, autocracy, oligarchy, and democracy work and the principles of them are. Also in
document 5 written by Thucydides an Athenian warrior, statesmen, and historian wrote in the year
410 BCE, what the author is trying to say it all the reason why democracies are good and the
outcomes of it. Finally, in document 9 written by Aristotlein Aristotle s Politics published in the
year 326 BCE this document is about the author s hatred towards tyranny.

Comparison Of Percy Jackson Hero And Louis Braille
Title: Louis Braille and Percy Jackson Hero Essay
Louis Braille was the creator of Braille, which is a way for the blind to read and write. Louis
Braille wasn t born blind, but that doesn t mean he didn t cope with it. Being visually impaired
was a struggle he eventually had to face and accept as a part as himself. Braille is knowledge, and
knowledge is power. Said Louis Braille. This quote connects to The Hero s Journey because it
shows that he is being challenged by tasks, and his task was to put Braille to the public. Louis
Braille became blind when he was three years old. Louis was messing around with his father s
tools, when he poked himself in the eye with one of the sewing tools. The infection that it gave
off spread to the other eye, and by the time he was 5, he was completely blind. But if it weren t
for his accident, the blind would still be using night writing, which isn t efficient. Louis Braille is a
historical figure that relates to The Hero s Journey and that connects to Percy s journey because he
went through life changing experiences. He was a hero because he revolutionized literature for the
blind.
Louis Braille is a hero because he overcame being uneducated, but made a way to educate the
blind, with Braille. According to The Famous People, Braille s parents encouraged him to lead a
normal life and the child did show a willingness to learn despite his handicap. Braille was blind
and he went through a lot in his childhood. In 1819, Braille was sent to

Richard Strand s Exorcism In The Black Tapes Podcast
The Black Tapes Podcast revolves around the renowned skeptic, Richard Strand, who is
regarded with a negative connotation among paranormal investigators. The podcast follows
Alex Reagan, the host, and Richard Strand s investigations of the various paranormal activities
that Strand has not been able to solve thus far, so called the black tapes. In most of the episodes,
Strand is able to provide a sufficient explanation for the cause of each case but in this episode,
he seems incapable of explaining an exorcism. He witnessed it and was not able to identify any
present factors that would render the exorcism as a set up, thus he believes it to be true, and is
therefore unable to provide a rational explanation for it, exposing a clear bias. Reagan

Evaluation Parameters Of Gastro Retentive Drug Delivery...
ABSTRACT Oral sustained drug release and specific site drug delivery system in pharmaceutical
field to achieve improved therapeutic advantage. Drug absorption in GIT varies and increased
gastric retention time of the dosage form extends the time of drug absorption. It is one of the novel
drug delivery system to prolong gastric residence time. Thereby implementing site specific drug
release in the stomachfor local and systemic effect. It is very useful for the drugs which having
narrow absorption Rate. Various forms of gastro retentive drug delivery system , such as floating
and non floating. This article can give an account on merits, demerits and evaluation parameters of
gastro retentive system.
Key words: Gastro retentive drug delivery system, non floating system, floating system, evaluation

INTRODUCTION: Advancement in drug delivery, oral route is the most common route to the
systemic circulation due to easiest way of administration, low cost of drug, patient compliance and
flexibility in formulation. About 90% of all drugs used are administered by oral route. Though the
drugs are administered orally, solid oral dosage forms is the most common class of products.
Tablets are the most common type of solid dosage form in use which is classified based on the drug
release pattern, i.e. immediate release and modified release. The immediate release tablets have
many drawbacks including non site specific drug release. However, many drugs are absorbed from

Comparing Christian Vs. Baptism
Comparing Lutheran vs Baptism Lutherans and Baptists are both Christians who are also
Protestants. They share many beliefs and have more similarities than differences. Both happen to be
reformists within the fold of Christianity. However, there are many different branches of Baptists
with differences between them too. In Lutheran, baptism is seen as a work of God and so even
infants are baptized. On the other hand, baptism is only for believers among Baptists, and this is
the reason why infants are not baptized in Baptists. Lutherans are the first of the major
denominations that broke away from the Roman Catholic Church in a bid to reform it from some
practices and doctrines that had no or little justification. The Christian community, though centered
in salvation through Jesus Christ, has been divided into sub sects, with some differences in their
teachings, doctrine and ceremonial celebrations. Two of the most commonly misconstrued sects
would be the Lutheran and the Baptism Churches. As mentioned, both religions believe in and
worship the same God, refer to the same Bible and hold communal gatherings to celebrate their
faith. The principal dissimilarity is their doctrines and preaching/teaching methods. There are
differences in their ceremonies, too, particularly in the manner in which Holy Communion is
administered and the over all formality of the worship service. The following comparison would
affirm that Lutherans are more sacramentarian in theology and worship, while

Satire In Satire
Satire: The Art of Exposing Foolishness Position is the incentive for society to innovate and
perform. Those in high positions may think themselves above society and they are fools for that
thinking. As William Shakespeare wrote in his play As You Like It a, fool doth think he is
wise, but as wise man knows he is a fool (). One of the greatest pitfalls of society is the ignorance
of its own foolishness, it is up to the wise to recognize this and expose it for the benefit of the
public. The wise use a literary technique known as satire, to perform this service for society.
Within satire there are the why s the purpose, and the how s the method, both of which contribute
to the question: what is satire? Well, what is satire? A basic definition would be the mode which
combines humor, irony, and ridicule to bring about a recognition or change in society (). The types
of satire fall into two main categories: Juvenalian and Horatian. They derive from the... Show more

Common techniques include: exaggeration, incongruity, reversal, and parody. Splitting
exaggeration into two subcategories, defined by the International Reading Association as,
caricature and burlesque. It defines caricature as a physical exaggeration and burlesque as an
exaggeration of language or intelligence (). Incongruity includes the use of oxymora, metaphors,
and irony, it also displays events that are improper to the setting (). Parody imitates the style of
some person, place, or thing; however, it is important for the reader to know the original to know
what the author is satirizing (). The last, reversal, simply means to present things out of order. An
example that the IRA gives is, when a young child makes all the decisions for a family. An
accomplished satirist can use all these techniques to fully convey the foolishness of the

One Flew Over The Cuckoos Nest Character Analysis
Matthew Wong Novick English 12, p6 25 May, 2017 The Power Dynamic Between Opposite
Ideals In society, there are always people who exert control over others. The novel, One Flew
Over the Cuckoo s Nest, by Ken Kesey, explores the power dynamic between an authoritarian
figure and the people who she controls. Throughout the novel, there is a nurse, known as Ratched,
who rules a mental institution using fear to control the patients until Randall McMurphy, someone
without any clear or obvious disability, arrives at the institution and disrupts Nurse Ratched s
power. The following suggests that Kesey uses imagery, symbolism and metaphor to show the
power dynamic between Nurse Ratched and the patients, and shows how the Combine is a
microcosm of society. This will be demonstrated through an analysis of Nurse Ratched s peak of
control at the beginning, how her control is disrupted when McMurphy arrives, and how by the
end, she has little to no control over the patients. At the start of the novel, Nurse Ratched s power,
along with the influence of the Combine, are at their peak. Nurse Ratched s control over the Ward
is described as hum of black machinery, humming hate and death and other hospital secrets (Kesey
10). Ratched rules the ward using fear, and as a result, no patient in the institution is willing to stand
up to her and demand changes to the system. Instead, Ratched s influence over them is extreme
enough to the point where she can get the patients to turn on each

Pro Prison Recidivism
Recidivism is the act of re incarceration for inmates upon release of prison or jail and return with
a new conviction. One who partakes in recidivism is referred to as a recidivist. The
Massachusetts Department of Correction (MA DOC) defines a recidivist as any criminally
sentenced inmate released to the street from MA DOC jurisdiction who is re incarcerated in a
Massachusetts state, county or a federal facility for a new criminal sentence. (mass.gov). In FY
2014 it costs about $53,040.87 to house an inmate in Massachusetts and with an average of 10,000
inmates incarcerated or in pre release programs that s an astonishing $530,408,700 (a little over 1/2
billion dollars) of taxpayer dollars funding incarcerationin Massachusetts. Also,... Show more

These movements can be classified as a reform movement. Reform movements pursue changes that
will implement the existing value scheme more adequately. Reform because the pro prison reform
initiatives aim at allocating funding from prisons and jails to education, rehabilitation, and job
skill programs that actually save the society billions of dollars a year and educate felons so they
are most likely not to reoffend. Most of the recidivists are of African American or Hispanic
ethnic background and between the ages of 17 25 and lack education and or skills needed to
meet our labor force. With the cost of an average inmate at $53,000 in MA versus the $20,000
average cost of participating in rehab programs aimed at deterring criminally aimed lives. The
clash over resources and values is what struck this growing social change for recidivism. Resources
being monetary factor in incarceration and the value of prison. We incarcerate and place people
in the same environment we are trying to release them from and they have no institutional
programs aimed at solving this issue of recidivism. The value as pointed out by the federal
government is the notions that if the government doesn t start hiring felons or ex cons how do
they suppose that others will take on the same practice. No one left behind is the model of the
USA and is the main reason that we cant outcast our felons. President Obama issued an executive
order to combat this social problem demanding that all federal agencies are prohibited of asking
for ones criminal record before the offer of employment. Only when a job is offered, is the time
when a felon is supposed to disclose such information. This will lead us into a new era of reducing
recidivism as a society and lower crime rate in urban areas of the States. It is the role of the
government to lead such initiatives so that other local and state governments take head and
continue to

History Of The Women s Suffrage Movement
There will never be complete equality until women themselves help to make laws and elect
lawmakers. This is a quote from Susan B. Anthony acknowledging the women s suffrage
movement. After the abolition of slavery in 1865, voting rights were extended to all citizens,
however citizens in this case meant, men only. As a result of only men having voting rights, women
started advocating the women s suffrage movement. The women s suffrage movement or woman
suffrage was the struggle for women to vote and run for office. This movement began in 1848 and it
continued until 1920. There were many women involved in this movement, but the two most
important women were Susan B. Anthony and Elizabeth Cady Stanton. Susan and Elizabeth

Many men who went against women voting would argue that women should stay home and
clean. Men have said things such as, You do not need a ballot to clean out your sink spout, and
because 90% of the women either do not want it, or do not care . This things were written in a
pamphlet published in 1910 by the organization, National Association Opposed to Woman
Suffrage. Artists created political cartoons that mocked suffragists, religious leaders opposed
women who were part of the women s suffrage movement, and articles also criticized woman
who took part in this movement. On the other hand, many men supported suffragists. Men such
as; Frederick Douglas, George Francis Train, Thetus W. Sims, James Mott, Daniel Anthony,
Henry Blackwell, and Francis Minor. Frederick signed the Declaration of Sentiments at the
Seneca Falls Convention because while everyone else criticized Elizabeth Cady Stanton.
George Francis Train helped Susan B. Anthony and Elizabeth Cady Stanton by funding their
own newspaper called, The Revolution ; he would write on the newspaper. Tethus W. Sims
voted in favor of suffrage in 1918. James Mott was Lucretia Mott s husband and he supported her
in the women s rights activist. James was also one of the men who signed the Declaration of
Sentiments. Daniel Anthony was Susan B. Anthony s father who was a women s rights
advocate. Henry Blackwell served as an editor for the official women s right newspaper. Francis
Minor was married to a women s rights activist and he was a lawyer. Francis used his position of a
lawyer to help his wife in court when she was accused of voting illegally . To sum up, many men

The Importance Of College In College
College is something that every high school student looks forward to, and whether they get a
bachelor s degree or doctorates, they can expect to be more successful in the future than those
who don t go to college. However, as with every college, we must prove ourselves with more than
just grades and extracurriculars, but also with personality and how we learn from failure. This is
what I have to present to you today, my personality, feats, and faults, and how I have grown over
the past 2 decades.
Like all people, I do have a creative side, and it is the side of me that I prefer to show off. I can be
innovative, comedic, helpful, and just overall a great person to talk to. Whenever I talk, whether it
be my friends or people I know from class, I always try my best to slip a joke in based on the
situation, whether it be a pun, punch line or just be funny in general. It always brings a smile to
my face to make others smile and feel good. While this holds true, I am also able to focus and be
helpful to the group. I like to help in any way that I can, because in a way, helping people is like
telling a good joke, if done right, it can make people happy and smile. Being a leader is not what
I prefer to do, I d much rather be a helpful part of the group, but if push comes to shove, I ll take
charge of the situation and lead the group. Other things that make me creative is my fondness of
fixing and creating things. I ve always liked taking a screwdriver to an object and seeing what

The Problem Solving Process Will Begin
When confronted with a problem, the question we should first begin asking ourselves is What
should I do? We will first need to examine the problem and determine the steps needed to take in
order to ensure the problem is solved satisfactorily. This is where the problem solving process
will begin. For this assignment, I will be focusing on Scenario 1: You have worked at your
company for eleven (11) years. You have returned to college to earn a Bachelor s degree in order
to increase your chances for a promotion. You are nearly finished with your degree, when a
supervisor s position in a competing company becomes available in another state. The start date
is in two (2) weeks, during your final exam period for your courses. The position offers a
$15,000 per year salary increase, a car allowance, and relocation expenses. Your former
supervisor works for the company and is recommending you for the position based on your
outstanding job performance; if you want the job, it s yours. All of the other supervisors at this
level in the company have Master s degrees, so you know that you would be expected to earn
your Bachelor s degree and continue on to a Master s degree. Your present company offers tuition
reimbursement, but the new company does not. (cite) For this particular scenario, I have been
tasked with making a decision on whether or not I should change my job, an opportunity that will
increase my salary; or stay in a position that will allow me to further my educational

Cannabinoids Vs Synthetic Drugs
The Merriam Webster dictionary defines synthetic as made by combining different substances: not
natural. It also defines a drug as a substance recognized in an official pharmacopoeia or formulary.

equivalent to marijuana, cocaine and methamphetamine which can be purchased over the counter at

What a Writer Needs to Capture Historical Event
To achieve lasting literature, fictional or factual, a writer needs perceptive vision, absorptive
capacity, and creative strength. ~Lawrence Clark, a writer. This might be what the writers of the
Renaissance had in mind: what all people of the Renaissance had in mind. The Renaissance
happened during the 15th and 16th centuries. The Renaissancegets its name from the French word
rebirth , which is what the Renaissance is seen as by bringing back the great ancient Greek and
Roman works. From the lesser known writers such as Thomas Decker and Samuel Daniel to the
more famous such as Sir Thomas Wyatt and William Shakespeare, all the writers contributed greatly
to the literary achievements of the Renaissance.
It is important to understand what the Renaissance was. After the fall of the Roman Empire in 476
A.D., the Dark Ages descended on Europe. The Dark Ages lasted until the beginning of the 15th
century, when the Renaissance began. The thinkers of the Renaissance are associated with
antiquity, the classics, history, and moral philosophy. With the bringing back of the classics, some
writing contained an English Latin mixture. The main idea associated with the Renaissance is
humanism, which brought to view the importance of human value. The influences on work
included Christianity, classical antiquity, scholarship, and politics. Most thinkers and inventors
earned a living of their craft. The Renaissance brought an optimistic promise of moving away from
the Dark Ages and

Cross Cultural Issues In Human Resource Management
Cross cultural management is the subject field management in a cross cultural context. Cross
cultural management takes place when a manager handles someone from a different cultural
background. This challenge in management is very common as businesses expand globally, hiring
immigrants and work to increase diversity. It includes the study of the influence of societal
cultivation on top management practices. Organizing a business in a diverse cultureenvironment can
be challenging but it is not something that cannot be achieved. Nowadays, some organizations have
started special awareness programs in cross cultural management so that they can work with less
cultural issues and embrace the benefits that they gain from cross cultural management. However,
there are many still fail to understand the importance of bringing individuals from diverse
backgrounds together. Most managers think that by implementing such programs are just waste of

The Importance Of Classical Literature
Classical Literature A classic is a book that has never finished saying what it has to say. Italo
Calvino
Why should people read classical literature? Classics are relevant to today s time because they
teach us the value, they help us understand history and culture, you can read and re read them, and
they help us understand how we got our literature today. Classics are also entertaining and will
continue to be read throughout generations. We should read classical literature because classical
literature has value. The value is important to our culture because it shows how we got to our
literature today and shows how far we have come. The story Orpheus and Eurydice is a good
example of value and morality because Orpheus tries to get his wife back and fails. The Fates
tell Orpheus not to look back at her until they are back home. Orpheus looked back at Eurydice
and when he looked back at her he lost her for good. This story is a good example of value
because it teaches us value and how we should appreciate what we have and appreciate the second
chances we get in life. The history and culture behind classical literature is our history because it
helped us get to where we are now and shows how we wrote and told our stories. The history in
classical literature can be true or sometimes true. With myths, some of the stories have some truth in
them or the story really happened but if that is the case, most of the time the storyteller makes
assumptions about the event. In the

The Cleveland Elementary School Shooting
The Cleveland Elementary School Shooting, 1989 Some refer to it as The Slaughter in a School

Something as horrifying as someone shooting down innocent children playing at recesses on
school grounds was never expected here in the United States of America. Although there was
past cases of school shootings, this was the first shooting to be televised on national television
of its magnitude (Taining, P et al., 2014). A mass murderer is defined as someone who
slaughters many people at one time. This particular incident unfortunately was not the slaughter
of people, but it was children. It happened around 11:40 AM on January 17th, 1989 in Stockton,
California. A man by the name of Patrick Edward Purdy opened fire on children ages six through
nine playing at recess on school grounds of Cleveland Elementary School. This tragic case
brought questions to people everywhere in our nation as to why it was so easy for a mentally
unstable individual such as Patrick Purdy to enter a gun store and purchase a semiautomatic
weapon ( Slaughter in a, 2001). Patrick Edward Purdy was born November 10, 1964 in Fort
Lewis Washington. His parents divorced at age two. He is described as an adolescent as quiet but
unable to cope with anything. He had a troubled relationship with his mother and was made to leave

Telnet and SSH are an operating system level login, and the [Web interface] tends to be more of
an application level login. Sometimes changing a password on one changes the password on the
other, but more often the Web [interface] is completely different, and changing the password there
may not change the underlying password needed to access the device remotely via SSH and Telnet .
Additionally, cameras are extremely vulnerable if they are connected to the internet and become
exposed to malware that could affect not only the device that s attacked, but all other devices that
s in the same network. According to the article from ZDNET (175,000 IoT cameras can be
remotely hacked thanks to flaw), Chinese manufacturer Shenzen Neo Electronics had two cameras
that were discovered to have been vulnerable to cyberattacks that would find loopholes to
remotely attack the device and the 175,000 devices connected to it. This prompted researchers to
address how trivial it is to exploit IoT devices because of the low quality of the firmware.

The Orientation Of Individual And Adlerian Psychology
Alfred Adler was originally a physician who later specialized in neurology and psychiatry,
especially in treating childhood disorders (Goldenberg Goldenberg, 2013, p. 171). Adler helped
found the child guidance movement in the early 1900s (p. 171). When invited by Freud, Adler
joined the Vienna Psychoanalytic society, publishing psychoanalytically oriented articles (p. 171).
However, Adler began to emphasize the importance of social factors as opposed to Freud s drive
theory, diverging from the psychoanalytical theory (p. 171). In 1914, he formed the Society for
Individual Psychology. Individual psychology is more concerned with the whole person who has
social, purposeful, and developmental determinants (p. 171). In this paper, I will introduce the
theorical orientation of individual or Adlerian psychology. This paper will discuss how individual
psychology understands humandevelopment, the role of cultural factors, the etiology of pathological
symptoms/problem areas, and the role of treatment.
Human Development
According to Frager and Fadiman (2005), Individual psychology defines psychological growth as a
matter of moving from self centered goals to mastering environmentally and socially useful
development (p. 102). Thus, Adlerians believe that psychological development occurs when
humans shift from individual tasks to environmental and social tasks. Adlerians believe that at the
age of 7 or 8, most humans develop ideas about their lifestyle that would be fixated

Catalytic Hydration
Catalytic hydration produces a lot of direct and indirect pollution. The process requires tremendous
amount of energy to heat up the mixture of ethene and steam up to the reaction temperatures.
Ethene is obtained by a cracked fraction obtained from oil. Over the years there have been many
environmental disasters from drilling and transporting oil. On the 20th of April 2010, the
Deepwater Horizon drilling platform exploded in the Gulf of Mexico. This lead to 4.9 million
barrels of oil being spilled into the Gulf of Mexico which resulted in the worst environmental
disaster in recent times with millions of aquatic animals being affected (Kinver, 2011). Although
the process of hydration has small impact of the environment due to the energy demands, its
indirect pollution has had a... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These are due to the high temperature and operating pressure of the reaction as well as the dangers
linked to the reactants, catalyst and products. The likelihood of an event happening is minimal due
to various emergency shut down systems and safety standards built into the reactor. However, PPE
such as protective clothing, self contained breathing apparatus and eye protection must be worn due
to serious nature of an actual incident happening.
Fermentation has little to no environmental impacts. It is carbon neutral process and new emerging
technologies will completely remove the carbon dioxide by product, therefore reducing its very
minimal environmental impact even further. Hydration on the other hand, has a minor direct affect
on the environment and a major indirect affect on the environment. Hydration uses lots of energy to
supply the heat necessary for the reaction which contributes to global warming. However, the
feedstock is obtained from oil which has had numerous environmental disasters due to its mining
and transportation.
As for global ethanol production, fermentation is clearly the more preferred

Implementing A New Program That Will Benefit An Industry
Implementing a new program that will benefit an industry takes investors, time, money and a
planning committee to ensure that the proper regulations is selected for the right. It also ensures
that the best processes that are in place will benefit the business at its appropriate time. In health
care the demands for modification and adjustment comes often to benefit the overall care for the
patient. In today s society, technology has thrust its way into the forefront of medicineand its
demand has become high, causing it to be an important factor in healthcare (Palvia Thambusamy,

Implementing Best Practices
When implementing ways to eliminate medication errors are impossible, however best practices
should be applied to avoid as many concerns or issues that could present itself. Through research
there are many approaches that have been found to support the reduction of medication errors.
The first areas to review was the way that medication orders are written, too many times
medication orders are left to facilities with non licensed nurses transcribe orders or to receive a
verbal order from the physician s office, sometimes written prescription are also faxed. When
orders are received the staff member should verify the order with the physician s office or have the
office to escript the prescription directly to the pharmacy. Therefore if the order is incorrect, then
the pharmacist who is licensed can obtain the correct order for the facility, it then can be sent to

The Current Food Of Food
The current food system is highly market oriented and has many flawes that impact people in
negative ways. The system contains problems starting form the production stage (farm labor
issues) to the distribution ( food insecurities ). The current food system is primary driven by
commodity rather than what people in communities want or need. In other words, because of
globalization the food system provides customers with goods without asking the needs and want
of the people. For instance, many cities in the United States have been exposed to food
insecurities that result in food deserts. In most cases, an area can be catagorized as a food desert
because they do not have the right type of food environment.
Last year, I started my research on food deserts in Baltimore. In order to identify the root of the
problem, I studied the historical cause of food deserts as well as systematic and economical
factors that left only certain community members marginalized. As I started to find feasible
solutions for food deserts, I looked into alternative food systems as a way of fighting against the
lack of access to healthy and affordable produces. In my research, I specifically focused a local food
system such as farmers markets. There are many benefits of localizing the food system, including
sustainability, less transportation of the produces and decentralizing the current food system while
providing a better access of food to people. As we read for this class, most people view the

Symptoms And Symptoms Of Herpes Viruses
Etiology
To start off my paper, I want to make something clear. There are two types of herpes viruses. HSV
1 is the type that usually causes cold sores or fever blisters around your mouth. HSV 2 is the type
that commonly causes genital herpes. The virus spreads through sexual contact and skin to skin
contact. HSV 2 is very common and highly contagious, whether or not you have an open sore
(Aurelius, p. 3).
Genital Herpes is more commonly caused by HSV 2 but is known to be caused by HSV 1. Oral
Herpes is known to be caused by both variations of the virus but most commonly by HSV 1.

This sexually transmitted disease is more likely to go from men to women, than women to men.
Having multiple sexual partners are raise the risk factors as well. Each sexual partner that is
engaged with raises your risk for being exposed to any sexually transmitted disease.
Modes of Transmission
HSV 1 is usually passed from person to person by kissing, or having contact with and infected
persons sore. HSV 1 can also spread from the mouth to the genitals during oral sex (fellatio,
cunnilingus, analingus). If this happens, the strain can change and become a case of genital
herpes. HSV 2 is most often passed by vaginal sex and anal sex. Although, just as HSV 1 can
infect the genitals and cause genital herpes, HSV 2 can pass from one person s genitals to another
person s mouth, resulting in oral herpes (Barnabas, para 3).
HSV 2 cannot survive long on a non living surface, so there is no real risk of getting it from a
surface. Herpes is most commonly spread by direct skin to skin contact. Unlike a flu virus that
you can get through the air, herpes spreads by direct contact, that is, directly from the site of
infection to the site of contact. For example, if you have a cold sore and kiss someone, you can
transfer the virus to their mouth. Similarly, if you have active genital herpes and have vaginal or
anal intercourse, you can give your partner genital herpes. Finally, if you have

Pushing The Herd Off The Cliff Edge
Introduction
The idea of institutional herding has a striking implication for security price volatility. Estimations
from the essay Sending the Herd Off the Cliff Edge suggests that the predominance of herding
behavior may explain why the financial system in 1990s had been in crisis for 40 out of the 120
months or 33% of the time (Persaud, 2000). These concerns, along with the increasing stock market
ownership of institution investor in comparison to individual investors, is often used as a basis for
advocating for an increase in monitoring institutional trading in equity markets in hopes that it that
would lead to a reduction in the dominance of institutional investors in the financial market.
However such claims are not fully supported by empirical research in the literature. Two schools of
thoughts emerge the first being that herding enhances pricing efficiency, and second ascertains that
herding initiates short term trend reversals.
The emergence of two seemingly polar opposite beliefs is not as a result of lack of scholarly
competence but rather due to the nature of complexity within the subject leading to conflicts in
assumptions and methodology. Conflicts in assumptions and methodology often arise due to
rational definitional irregularities on institutional herding. An example of such a definitional
irregularity occurs when as Avery defined herd behavioras a trade by an informed agent which
follows the trend in past trades even though that trend is counter to his

The Modern Culture and Lifestyle of RastafariThe modern culture of Rastafarianism is extensive.
Rastafarian culture has many aspects of its being. This makes Rastafarianism a tough task for
those new to it. There are many Rastafarian rules for both men and women. For example,
Rastafarian women are called sistren and they have to abide by more rules than men. These rules
consist of language restrictions and dress codes. Women are prohibited from swearing, saying
anything sexually suggestive, and arguing. Sistren do not wear pants. Rastafarian women can only

In 2006, Sony; the second largest manufacturer of laptop batteries in the world was in the headlines
as major laptop manufacturing companies such as Apple, Dell, Compaq, and Lenovo were forced to
recall their products containing the faulty batteries manufactured by Sony, due to safety concerns.
[1], [2], [3], [4]
A.Saftey Concerns
Between December of 2005 and August of 2006 there were six fires in Dell laptop computers,
including one that burst into flames at a conference in Osaka. [1] This incident was caught on tape
and viewed worldwide, prompting Dell to recall 4.2 million laptop batters on August 14, 2016 [1],
with this number rising later in the year to almost 10 million.
Apple also recalled some 1.8 million batteries on August 24, 2006 [after] nine reports of batteries
overheating including two incidents of minor burns. [1] Companies such as Fujitsu, Lenovo and
Toshiba also reported incidents similar to the previously mentioned and undertook similar
measures. [1]

A.Lithium Ion Batteries
A Lithium ion battery is a battery where the negative electrode (anode) and positive electrode
(cathode) materials serve as a host for the lithium ion (Li+). Lithium ions move from the anode to
the cathode during discharge and are intercalated into (inserted into voids in the crystallographic
structure of) the cathode. The ions reverse direction during charging. [2]

Game Theory In Water Resource Management
1. Introduction
Water resources management is involved with various beneficiaries that may have conflicting
interests (Veeren Tol 2003; Wei et al. 2010). Game theory based models have been used in water
resources management to address water conflicts and are recognized as appropriate methods (Wei
et al. 2010). Game theory and its mathematical background were proposed and used in economics
for the first time by Neumann and Morgenstern (1953). Different forms of games have been
suggested by many researchers to address water conflicts alongside other conflict resolution
methods such as Graph Model for Conflict Resolution (GMCR) (Kilgour 1995), Adjusted Winner

Unit 8 Lab Report Sample
1.The two independent variables were luminant cue patches (light cue, dark cue and equiluminant
cue) and location of the cue and target (valid side with cue and target on same side and invalid side
with cue and target on opposite sides). The dependent variable was participants reaction time in
millisecond.
2.The experiment used the same red and green stimuli in each trial instead of other opponent
colors such as black and white or blue and yellow. The small sample size studied could have also
lead to random variation in the results.
3.The trials for each of the six conditions were presented in a random order. The experimenter
controlled for differences among participants by having them set their own equiluminant point for
the cue stimuli and eliminated luminance differences by embedding the stimuli in a random
luminance noise. The experimenter also controlled for outliers by eliminating response ... Show

The Magnocellular pathway carries information from the M ganglion cells at rapid speed along the
dorsal stream to the parietal lobe to help us understand motion, spatial relationships and contrast.
The Parvocellular pathway carries information from the P ganglion cells at slower speed along the
ventral stream to the temporal lobe to help us process fine details of such as color and form of an
object. It is thought that the Parvocellular pathway is our primary source for recognition and
identification, but there are speculations that its allocentric frame of reference can also be used in a
more egocentric approach (i.e., the Parvocellular pathway is able to elicit an autonomic response
like the Magnocellular pathway). This research expands on these theories by studying the role of
color vision in autonomic attention responses. The experiment attempts to study the relationship
between the Magnocellular pathway and Parvocellular pathway through color cues and its effects in
capturing attention and control visual behavior (e.g., moving the eyes to locate the

Paralegals have been previously known as solicitors managing clerks they had their own
organisation called The solicitors managing clerks association in the early 1960s they became
dissatisfied with the title because of the importance of the work they were doing. Another title was
chosen for them Legal executives and a new association, which was called The institute of Legal
Executives they have now evolved to give people with a non law degree the chance to gain practice
rights.
Paralegals are relied oh heavily in law firms and many have their own clients and carry out much
of what a solicitor can do with very little specific supervision. The National Association has

References to Sue s Homosexuality in Thomas Hardy s Jude...
References to Sue s Homosexuality in Thomas Hardy s Jude the Obscure
Perhaps the most interesting character in Thomas Hardy s Jude the Obscure is Susanna Florence
Mary Bridehead (Sue). Throughout the novel, she is described as everything from boyish and
sexless, all the way to Voltairean and just simply unconventional. Some claim she had read
prolifically many writers noted for their frankness and/or indecency (Hardy 118). Upon a surface
reading, one can t help but wonder about the sexual identity and desires of Sue. At first, there
seems to be none; however, upon a deeper reading of the novel, I can t help but suspect that Sue is
actually a lesbian.
Sue s failures with men contribute to my feeling; she has endured unfulfilling ... Show more content

In fact, the conception of all three of her children is conveniently skipped in the text. Take into
consideration Jude s previous behavior with Arabella he is a man with an enormous sex drive and
probably next to impossible to fight off night after night, especially living in the same house with
him. He is, indeed, powerfully sexed (Howe 514), and her relationship with Jude is one that she
accepted with distaste (Gosse 390). He is often stealing kisses and she is continually asking him to
stop. As cousins, and similar in many ways, these two isolated people completed each other and
needed each other, but their relationship shouldn t have been physical. As Ingham informs us in the
introduction, Sue says, We ought to have lived in mental communion, and no more (xx). Ingham
also states that Sue inspires the spirit side of Jude s nature, whereas Arabella supplies the flesh side
(xii).
Early in the novel, when Jude and Sue are first getting to know each other, she tells him that she
has no fear of men and that she has mixed with them almost as one of their own sex (Hardy 118).
In fact, she could be discussing the undergraduate that she lived with for a short time, who wanted
to be her lover, but she saw him as a best friend. This passage depicts a woman who has nothing
against men and enjoys their company, but who is in no way sexually interested in them.
Furthermore, in part three, Sue tells Jude that she is a virgin: I have

Character Analysis Of Okonkwo
Okonkwo: Tragic Hero
According to dictionary.com, a tragic hero is a great or virtuous character in a dramatic tragedy
who is destined for downfall, suffering, or defeat. In the book, Things Fall Apart by Chinua
Achebe, the main character Okonkwo struggles with the fear of being like his father. Okonkwo also
has a hard time dealing with the Christian missionaries and the British colonialism influencing his
clan. Okonkwo is a tragic hero because of his fatal judgment errors and outside forces building up
to his tragic downfall, even though he was well respected among the entire Igbo Tribe. Okonkwo
shows many judgmental weaknesses. The clan demanded for Ikemefuna to be killed so when it was
time, ...Okonkwo drew his machete and cut him ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
So brutally chops his head off and has no remorse for his actions. Okonkwo never stopped to think
of the repercussions of his actions, he acted in the moment, allowing whatever emotion he was
feeling at that particular moment control him and tell him what to do.
Okonkwo was influenced man many external forces. Okonkwo beats his children and his wives
because He had no patience with unsuccessful men. He had had no patience with his father (4).
Unoka, Okonkwo s father, was a very lazy man and an outside force that helped craft Okonkwo s
lifestyle. Okonkwo saw the way his father lived and hated how useless, he was in the world, so
he was influenced to not become lazy and especially not to allow his kids to become anything
like his father or they got beat. Okonkwo was a brave and powerful man But his whole life was
dominated by fear, the fear of failure and of weakness (13). Okonkwo didn t want people to see
him as weak, and because of this Okonkwo was very wealthy. In Okonkwo s clan, how many
titles the person has taken and the number of barns full of yams was the way to tell if someone
was wealth and success. In these circumstances, Okonkwo had two tiles and two barns full of
yams, so he was a extremely successful and wealthy man. In Okonkwo s clan, British colonialism
settled to try and convert the Ibo people to Christianity. Okonkwo did not like this and wanted to
kill them all but his clan said no. Okonkwo ends up killing a Christian

  • 2. Advantages And Disadvantages Of Bldc Motor Abstract: A dc Brushless Motor uses a permanent magnet external rotor, three phases of driving coils, one or more Hall Effect devices to sense the position of the rotor, and the associated drive electronics. The coils are activated, one phase after the other, by the drive electronics as cued by the signals from the Hall effect sensors, they act as three phase synchronous motors containing their own variable frequency drive electronics. A simplified current controlled modulation technique for BLDC motors is presented. The advantages of this strategy are: 1. Very simple control scheme. 2. Phase currents are kept balanced. 3. The current is controlled through only one DC component 1.1 Brush Less Dc Motor: Brushless DC electrical... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In an outer rotor style, the windings are situated within the core of the motor. The rotor magnets surround the stator coil windings as shown here. The rotor magnets act as an dielectric, thereby reducing the speed of heat dissipation from the motor. Because of the situation of the stator coil windings, outer rotor styles usually operate at lower duty cycles or at a lower rated current. The first advantage of an outer rotor BLDC motor is comparatively low cogging force. In an inner rotor style, the stator coil windings surround the rotor and are mounted to the motor s housing as shown here. The first advantage of an inner rotor construction is its ability to dissipate heat. A motor s ability to dissipate heat directly impacts its ability to provide force. For this reason, the overwhelming majority of BLDC motors use an inner rotor style. Another advantage of an inner rotor style is lower rotor inertia. Advantages: High Speed Operation A BLDC motor can operate at speeds approximately ten thousand revolutions per minute under loaded and unloaded conditions. Responsiveness Inner rotor Brushless DC motors have low rotor inertia, allowing them to accelerate, decelerate, and reverse direction ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 4. Comparison Of Percy Jackson Hero And Louis Braille Title: Louis Braille and Percy Jackson Hero Essay Louis Braille was the creator of Braille, which is a way for the blind to read and write. Louis Braille wasn t born blind, but that doesn t mean he didn t cope with it. Being visually impaired was a struggle he eventually had to face and accept as a part as himself. Braille is knowledge, and knowledge is power. Said Louis Braille. This quote connects to The Hero s Journey because it shows that he is being challenged by tasks, and his task was to put Braille to the public. Louis Braille became blind when he was three years old. Louis was messing around with his father s tools, when he poked himself in the eye with one of the sewing tools. The infection that it gave off spread to the other eye, and by the time he was 5, he was completely blind. But if it weren t for his accident, the blind would still be using night writing, which isn t efficient. Louis Braille is a historical figure that relates to The Hero s Journey and that connects to Percy s journey because he went through life changing experiences. He was a hero because he revolutionized literature for the blind. Louis Braille is a hero because he overcame being uneducated, but made a way to educate the blind, with Braille. According to The Famous People, Braille s parents encouraged him to lead a normal life and the child did show a willingness to learn despite his handicap. Braille was blind and he went through a lot in his childhood. In 1819, Braille was sent to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 7. Comparing Christian Vs. Baptism Comparing Lutheran vs Baptism Lutherans and Baptists are both Christians who are also Protestants. They share many beliefs and have more similarities than differences. Both happen to be reformists within the fold of Christianity. However, there are many different branches of Baptists with differences between them too. In Lutheran, baptism is seen as a work of God and so even infants are baptized. On the other hand, baptism is only for believers among Baptists, and this is the reason why infants are not baptized in Baptists. Lutherans are the first of the major denominations that broke away from the Roman Catholic Church in a bid to reform it from some practices and doctrines that had no or little justification. The Christian community, though centered in salvation through Jesus Christ, has been divided into sub sects, with some differences in their teachings, doctrine and ceremonial celebrations. Two of the most commonly misconstrued sects would be the Lutheran and the Baptism Churches. As mentioned, both religions believe in and worship the same God, refer to the same Bible and hold communal gatherings to celebrate their faith. The principal dissimilarity is their doctrines and preaching/teaching methods. There are differences in their ceremonies, too, particularly in the manner in which Holy Communion is administered and the over all formality of the worship service. The following comparison would affirm that Lutherans are more sacramentarian in theology and worship, while ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. Satire In Satire Satire: The Art of Exposing Foolishness Position is the incentive for society to innovate and perform. Those in high positions may think themselves above society and they are fools for that thinking. As William Shakespeare wrote in his play As You Like It a, fool doth think he is wise, but as wise man knows he is a fool (). One of the greatest pitfalls of society is the ignorance of its own foolishness, it is up to the wise to recognize this and expose it for the benefit of the public. The wise use a literary technique known as satire, to perform this service for society. Within satire there are the why s the purpose, and the how s the method, both of which contribute to the question: what is satire? Well, what is satire? • 9. One Flew Over The Cuckoos Nest Character Analysis Matthew Wong Novick English 12, p6 25 May, 2017 The Power Dynamic Between Opposite Ideals In society, there are always people who exert control over others. The novel, One Flew Over the Cuckoo s Nest, by Ken Kesey, explores the power dynamic between an authoritarian figure and the people who she controls. Throughout the novel, there is a nurse, known as Ratched, who rules a mental institution using fear to control the patients until Randall McMurphy, someone without any clear or obvious disability, arrives at the institution and disrupts Nurse Ratched s power. The following suggests that Kesey uses imagery, symbolism and metaphor to show the power dynamic between Nurse Ratched and the patients, and shows how the Combine is a microcosm of society. This will be demonstrated through an analysis of Nurse Ratched s peak of control at the beginning, how her control is disrupted when McMurphy arrives, and how by the end, she has little to no control over the patients. At the start of the novel, Nurse Ratched s power, along with the influence of the Combine, are at their peak. Nurse Ratched s control over the Ward is described as hum of black machinery, humming hate and death and other hospital secrets (Kesey 10). Ratched rules the ward using fear, and as a result, no patient in the institution is willing to stand up to her and demand changes to the system. Instead, Ratched s influence over them is extreme enough to the point where she can get the patients to turn on each ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Reform movements pursue changes that will implement the existing value scheme more adequately. Reform because the pro prison reform initiatives aim at allocating funding from prisons and jails to education, rehabilitation, and job skill programs that actually save the society billions of dollars a year and educate felons so they are most likely not to reoffend. Most of the recidivists are of African American or Hispanic ethnic background and between the ages of 17 25 and lack education and or skills needed to meet our labor force. With the cost of an average inmate at $53,000 in MA versus the $20,000 average cost of participating in rehab programs aimed at deterring criminally aimed lives. The clash over resources and values is what struck this growing social change for recidivism. Resources being monetary factor in incarceration and the value of prison. We incarcerate and place people in the same environment we are trying to release them from and they have no institutional programs aimed at solving this issue of recidivism. The value as pointed out by the federal government is the notions that if the government doesn t start hiring felons or ex cons how do they suppose that others will take on the same practice. No one left behind is the model of the USA and is the main reason that we cant outcast our felons. President Obama issued an executive order to combat this social problem demanding that all federal agencies are prohibited of asking for ones criminal record before the offer of employment. Only when a job is offered, is the time when a felon is supposed to disclose such information. The Importance Of College In College College is something that every high school student looks forward to, and whether they get a bachelor s degree or doctorates, they can expect to be more successful in the future than those who don t go to college. However, as with every college, we must prove ourselves with more than just grades and extracurriculars, but also with personality and how we learn from failure. This is what I have to present to you today, my personality, feats, and faults, and how I have grown over the past 2 decades. Like all people, I do have a creative side, and it is the side of me that I prefer to show off. I can be innovative, comedic, helpful, and just overall a great person to talk to. Whenever I talk, whether it be my friends or people I know from class, I always try my best to slip a joke in based on the situation, whether it be a pun, punch line or just be funny in general. It always brings a smile to my face to make others smile and feel good. While this holds true, I am also able to focus and be helpful to the group. I like to help in any way that I can, because in a way, helping people is like telling a good joke, if done right, it can make people happy and smile. Being a leader is not what I prefer to do, I d much rather be a helpful part of the group, but if push comes to shove, I ll take charge of the situation and lead the group. We will first need to examine the problem and determine the steps needed to take in order to ensure the problem is solved satisfactorily. This is where the problem solving process will begin. For this assignment, I will be focusing on Scenario 1: You have worked at your company for eleven (11) years. You have returned to college to earn a Bachelor s degree in order to increase your chances for a promotion. You are nearly finished with your degree, when a supervisor s position in a competing company becomes available in another state. The start date is in two (2) weeks, during your final exam period for your courses. The position offers a $15,000 per year salary increase, a car allowance, and relocation expenses. Your former supervisor works for the company and is recommending you for the position based on your outstanding job performance; if you want the job, it s yours. All of the other supervisors at this level in the company have Master s degrees, so you know that you would be expected to earn your Bachelor s degree and continue on to a Master s degree. Your present company offers tuition reimbursement, but the new company does not. What a Writer Needs to Capture Historical Event To achieve lasting literature, fictional or factual, a writer needs perceptive vision, absorptive capacity, and creative strength. ~Lawrence Clark, a writer. This might be what the writers of the Renaissance had in mind: what all people of the Renaissance had in mind. The Renaissance happened during the 15th and 16th centuries. The Renaissancegets its name from the French word rebirth , which is what the Renaissance is seen as by bringing back the great ancient Greek and Roman works. From the lesser known writers such as Thomas Decker and Samuel Daniel to the more famous such as Sir Thomas Wyatt and William Shakespeare, all the writers contributed greatly to the literary achievements of the Renaissance. It is important to understand what the Renaissance was. After the fall of the Roman Empire in 476 A.D., the Dark Ages descended on Europe. The Dark Ages lasted until the beginning of the 15th century, when the Renaissance began. The thinkers of the Renaissance are associated with antiquity, the classics, history, and moral philosophy. With the bringing back of the classics, some writing contained an English Latin mixture. The main idea associated with the Renaissance is humanism, which brought to view the importance of human value. The influences on work included Christianity, classical antiquity, scholarship, and politics. Most thinkers and inventors earned a living of their craft. • 20. The Importance Of Classical Literature Classical Literature A classic is a book that has never finished saying what it has to say. Italo Calvino Why should people read classical literature? Classics are relevant to today s time because they teach us the value, they help us understand history and culture, you can read and re read them, and they help us understand how we got our literature today. Classics are also entertaining and will continue to be read throughout generations. We should read classical literature because classical literature has value. The value is important to our culture because it shows how we got to our literature today and shows how far we have come. The story Orpheus and Eurydice is a good example of value and morality because Orpheus tries to get his wife back and fails. The Fates tell Orpheus not to look back at her until they are back home. Orpheus looked back at Eurydice and when he looked back at her he lost her for good. This story is a good example of value because it teaches us value and how we should appreciate what we have and appreciate the second chances we get in life. The history and culture behind classical literature is our history because it helped us get to where we are now and shows how we wrote and told our stories. The history in classical literature can be true or sometimes true. Something as horrifying as someone shooting down innocent children playing at recesses on school grounds was never expected here in the United States of America. Although there was past cases of school shootings, this was the first shooting to be televised on national television of its magnitude (Taining, P et al., 2014). A mass murderer is defined as someone who slaughters many people at one time. This particular incident unfortunately was not the slaughter of people, but it was children. It happened around 11:40 AM on January 17th, 1989 in Stockton, California. A man by the name of Patrick Edward Purdy opened fire on children ages six through nine playing at recess on school grounds of Cleveland Elementary School. This tragic case brought questions to people everywhere in our nation as to why it was so easy for a mentally unstable individual such as Patrick Purdy to enter a gun store and purchase a semiautomatic weapon ( Slaughter in a, 2001). The Orientation Of Individual And Adlerian Psychology Alfred Adler was originally a physician who later specialized in neurology and psychiatry, especially in treating childhood disorders (Goldenberg Goldenberg, 2013, p. 171). Adler helped found the child guidance movement in the early 1900s (p. 171). When invited by Freud, Adler joined the Vienna Psychoanalytic society, publishing psychoanalytically oriented articles (p. 171). However, Adler began to emphasize the importance of social factors as opposed to Freud s drive theory, diverging from the psychoanalytical theory (p. 171). In 1914, he formed the Society for Individual Psychology. Individual psychology is more concerned with the whole person who has social, purposeful, and developmental determinants (p. 171). In this paper, I will introduce the theorical orientation of individual or Adlerian psychology. This paper will discuss how individual psychology understands humandevelopment, the role of cultural factors, the etiology of pathological symptoms/problem areas, and the role of treatment. Human Development According to Frager and Fadiman (2005), Individual psychology defines psychological growth as a matter of moving from self centered goals to mastering environmentally and socially useful development (p. 102). Thus, Adlerians believe that psychological development occurs when humans shift from individual tasks to environmental and social tasks. The current food system is primary driven by commodity rather than what people in communities want or need. In other words, because of globalization the food system provides customers with goods without asking the needs and want of the people. For instance, many cities in the United States have been exposed to food insecurities that result in food deserts. In most cases, an area can be catagorized as a food desert because they do not have the right type of food environment. Last year, I started my research on food deserts in Baltimore. In order to identify the root of the problem, I studied the historical cause of food deserts as well as systematic and economical factors that left only certain community members marginalized. As I started to find feasible solutions for food deserts, I looked into alternative food systems as a way of fighting against the lack of access to healthy and affordable produces. In my research, I specifically focused a local food system such as farmers markets. • 36. Pushing The Herd Off The Cliff Edge Introduction The idea of institutional herding has a striking implication for security price volatility. Estimations from the essay Sending the Herd Off the Cliff Edge suggests that the predominance of herding behavior may explain why the financial system in 1990s had been in crisis for 40 out of the 120 months or 33% of the time (Persaud, 2000). These concerns, along with the increasing stock market ownership of institution investor in comparison to individual investors, is often used as a basis for advocating for an increase in monitoring institutional trading in equity markets in hopes that it that would lead to a reduction in the dominance of institutional investors in the financial market. However such claims are not fully supported by empirical research in the literature. Two schools of thoughts emerge the first being that herding enhances pricing efficiency, and second ascertains that herding initiates short term trend reversals. The emergence of two seemingly polar opposite beliefs is not as a result of lack of scholarly competence but rather due to the nature of complexity within the subject leading to conflicts in assumptions and methodology. Conflicts in assumptions and methodology often arise due to rational definitional irregularities on institutional herding. An example of such a definitional irregularity occurs when as Avery defined herd behavioras a trade by an informed agent which follows the trend in past trades even though that trend is counter to his ... Unit 8 Lab Report Sample 1.The two independent variables were luminant cue patches (light cue, dark cue and equiluminant cue) and location of the cue and target (valid side with cue and target on same side and invalid side with cue and target on opposite sides). The dependent variable was participants reaction time in millisecond. 2.The experiment used the same red and green stimuli in each trial instead of other opponent colors such as black and white or blue and yellow. The small sample size studied could have also lead to random variation in the results. 3.The trials for each of the six conditions were presented in a random order. The experimenter controlled for differences among participants by having them set their own equiluminant point for the cue stimuli and eliminated luminance differences by embedding the stimuli in a random luminance noise. The experimenter also controlled for outliers by eliminating response ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The Magnocellular pathway carries information from the M ganglion cells at rapid speed along the dorsal stream to the parietal lobe to help us understand motion, spatial relationships and contrast. The Parvocellular pathway carries information from the P ganglion cells at slower speed along the ventral stream to the temporal lobe to help us process fine details of such as color and form of an object. It is thought that the Parvocellular pathway is our primary source for recognition and identification, but there are speculations that its allocentric frame of reference can also be used in a more egocentric approach (i.e., the Parvocellular pathway is able to elicit an autonomic response like the Magnocellular pathway). This research expands on these theories by studying the role of color vision in autonomic attention responses. The experiment attempts to study the relationship between the Magnocellular pathway and Parvocellular pathway through color cues and its effects in capturing attention and control visual behavior (e.g., moving the eyes to locate the ... • 46. References to Sue s Homosexuality in Thomas Hardy s Jude... References to Sue s Homosexuality in Thomas Hardy s Jude the Obscure Perhaps the most interesting character in Thomas Hardy s Jude the Obscure is Susanna Florence Mary Bridehead (Sue). Throughout the novel, she is described as everything from boyish and sexless, all the way to Voltairean and just simply unconventional. Some claim she had read prolifically many writers noted for their frankness and/or indecency (Hardy 118). Upon a surface reading, one can t help but wonder about the sexual identity and desires of Sue. At first, there seems to be none; however, upon a deeper reading of the novel, I can t help but suspect that Sue is actually a lesbian. In fact, the conception of all three of her children is conveniently skipped in the text. Take into consideration Jude s previous behavior with Arabella he is a man with an enormous sex drive and probably next to impossible to fight off night after night, especially living in the same house with him. He is, indeed, powerfully sexed (Howe 514), and her relationship with Jude is one that she accepted with distaste (Gosse 390). He is often stealing kisses and she is continually asking him to stop. As cousins, and similar in many ways, these two isolated people completed each other and needed each other, but their relationship shouldn t have been physical. As Ingham informs us in the introduction, Sue says, We ought to have lived in mental communion, and no more (xx). Ingham also states that Sue inspires the spirit side of Jude s nature, whereas Arabella supplies the flesh side (xii). Early in the novel, when Jude and Sue are first getting to know each other, she tells him that she has no fear of men and that she has mixed with them almost as one of their own sex (Hardy 118). In fact, she could be discussing the undergraduate that she lived with for a short time, who wanted to be her lover, but she saw him as a best friend. This passage depicts a woman who has nothing against men and enjoys their company, but who is in no way sexually interested in them.
