Political Influence On Immigration
Politics influences our decision both direct and indirectly, it also can force us to make decisions faster
in order to take advantage of current situations. One of the most powerful and influential country
(United States of America) in the world has just nominated a new president Donald Trump. Within the
first few days after Donald Trump was sworn in he signed a few controversial executive orders, one of
them happen to deal with immigration. Immigration executive order was instated to ban citizens from
seven Muslim countries Iraq, Iran, Sudan, Libya, Somalia, Syria, and Yemen from entering the USA
for 90 days (Berke, 2017). This was put in place to evaluate USA option and enhance their security

Negative Review
We hypothesized that a negative first impression would resonate with participants more so than
negative review placed somewhere else in an evaluation, and therefore would produce a higher desire
to avoid taking a class with the professor. We also hypothesized that female professors would
generally be less desired, as well as be more intensely impacted by a negative impression than male
professors would. We found no significance in effect of gender on the likelihood someone will take a
class with a professor, both independently and paired with the position of a negative review. We did,
however, find that there was a large main effect for the position of a negative review for both genders.
It was surprising to find to the main effect of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As expected from our literature search, at least in terms of professor evaluations, like judgments of
hazardous driving, the primacy effect overpowered the recency effect. It can be hypothesized, then,
based off of our findings, that at least in terms of evaluations and character judgment, the primacy
effect is more significant than the recency effect. There are numerous ways to justify this claim,
including looking back to the research of Hennessy et al. The researchers claim that perhaps their
finding of an overpowering primacy effect can be a result of the lack of need to make a continual
judgment. The participants of both the Hennessy et al. study as well as our study were put into
circumstances where there was no pressure and low cost to make a judgment right from the start and
not evaluate it later. Hennessy et al. also suggests that in cases of judgment the primacy effect is
powerful in that participants use the first impression as a basis of understanding and then look for
support for their original impression throughout the rest of the information presented, providing a
biased view of the subject under

The Ideology Of Slavery By Drew Gilpin Faust
In The Ideology of Slavery by Drew Gilpin Faust, in Chapter 4 which is James Henry Hammond that
writes a letter to an English Abolitionist, in a section he describes how he believes that Slavery is not a
sin and is approved by Christ. It would seem that while God commanded Moses to free his people that
were slaves to the Pharaoh, man is overlooking these in the Bible and that they are creating their own
law and how their religion differs totally by what they do. I think, then, I may safely conclude, and I
firmly believe, that American Slavery is not only not a sin, but especially commanded by God through
Moses, and approved by Christ through his apostles (Faust 175). When reasoning between what is
right and wrong, Americans only found that what they were doing was not necessarily evil or wrong
just that God permitted it, and also white Americans found slavery to be very significant for their own
lives, due to the fact that their way of making money and making a living involved the owning of
humans to make themselves the most profitable.
While Slavery was against humanity and Abolitionists who believed in abolition of the practice of
slavery, the South had their own reasons why slavery was needed in America and how basically they
supported pro slavery. For instance, some arguments for slavery were, Sudden end to the slave
economy would have had a profound and killing economic impact in the South where reliance on
slave labor was the foundation of their economy. If all

Sociological Perspectives Of Sociology And Its Impact On...
Sociology is an important part of today s society as it is all around us and is in everything we do.
Sociology is the study of, the behaviour of people within society. It helps us to understand how society
works and how the impact of relationships and interactions between people influence society.
Sociology is shown through relationships, cultures, class, religion, education and upbringing.
Sociology has different sociological perspectives for example symbolic interactionism and
functionalism. Symbolic interactionism studies individuals and small groups within society and how
they behave, interact and believe about how society is what it is. Symbolic Interactionism was created
by Herbert Blumer. He based symbolic interactionism on three things which were that people act on
the meanings of things, social interactions build meanings and meanings depend and are modified by
people interacting with each other. Through communication and language, symbols are provided to
understand the world that we live in. Smoking is an example of symbolic interactionism as teenagers
believe it is cool to smoke, even though it Is bad for you and could lead to killing you but they think it
makes them look good in front of their friends.
Functionalism is the belief of everyone in society sharing the same norms and values that get passed
on through generations. Functionalists see society like a human body they believe that if one thing
stops working then everything else will slowing stop working

Correlation of Wood Type and Surface Coatings with the...
Wood is a porous material because of its cellular structure which allows for many internal voids
(Eckelman). The plant cells located within wood are made to absorb water, as it is necessary for the
functionality of the tree ( Wood and Water , 2006). When wood first absorbs water, the water is
transported and held within the cell walls. However, as these walls cannot hold a large amount of
water, additional water fills the cavities of tubular cells within fibers of the wood. Wood is also
categorized as a hygroscopic material. This allows for wood to naturally absorb and dissipate water
within its contiguous environment. Density and water diffusivity of the wood affect the rate of
absorption of water in wood (Noorolahi, Khazaei, and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Latex paint is a formulated polyvinyl material with an acrylic resin. Oil based stain is highly effective
in repelling water as oil is hydrophobic (Dasch, 2003). A previous study by Sivertsen concluded that
untreated, low density wood absorbed more water than high density wood. Their results also showed
that, with a waterborne topcoat and no primer, the higher density wood sample absorbed more water
(Sivertsen). However, this experiment was done using softwoods, and therefore the results may differ
for hardwoods.
This experiment was an observational study of the correlation of wood species and surface coatings to
the water absorption of wood. I took data on the amount of water absorbed by red oak, red maple,
aspen, and balsam poplar wood of the same volume, but with varying surface coatings. My control
group was left untreated, leaving the wood in its natural state. The four samples of wood in the other
two groups were painted with latex paint and oil based stain respectively. The twelve total samples
were then placed into buckets filled with water. At the end of seven days, the amount of water
absorbed by wood was determined by measuring the amount of water remaining in the buckets. My
hypothesis was that the species of wood and surface coatings do influence the amount of water
absorbed by the wood. I believed that the surface coatings applied to the wood would aid in
preventing a greater amount of water absorbed than in the wood s natural state, and that

Sue Matt For F Shore Accident Falls Under The Australian...
Scott s intention to sue Matt for the off shore accident falls under the Australian Law of Torts. Derived
from an old French vocabulary, the term tort refers to a wrongful act. It is paramount for Scott to
understand that tort is very different from a regular crime. Whereas an individual suffers from injury
due to an act of another person and the court can present a redress in a tort, in a crime, the wrong is
perceived to target the entire community and the courts are required to follow the prevailing criminal
law to offer requisite punishment to the person who is being accused of criminal liability. A person
who is perceived to cause harm to another individual due to negligence, is perceived to have
committed a tort of negligence. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Scott must successfully establish that the three elements that constitute a tort were inherent in the
circumstances that led to his injury. The three elements are the existence of a duty to take care of his
safety and interests by the boat owner; Matt s breach of such duty of care and the possible
quantification of damages that are due to him due to the harm or injuries caused by the breach of duty
by Mr. Matt. It is these three elements that distinguish negligence from carelessness. The duty of care
that Scott would be required to ascertain before the courts for a successful suit were first described by
Lord Atkin in Donoghue v. Stevenson 1932 AC 562. While presiding over the case and in a majority
ruling, Lord Atkin states that a duty to use ordinary care and skill arises in circumstances where the
conduct of another might put others in danger. Reasonable care must be taken in particular
circumstances to avoid omissions or acts that can be reasonably foreseen to as likely causes of harm or
injury to another person. Whenever a person is engaged in actions whose outcomes he or she can
reasonably foresee will likely to cause harm or injury to another person, a duty of care is then owed to
that other person. Two tests must therefore be met to ascertain the existence of a duty of care from
Matt determination of proximity and foreseeability of the circumstances that led to Scott s injuries.

The first skill in the prospects is effective communication and engagement.
Building upon this main skill the prospects goes on to highlight a number of helpful points for
practitioners to do their job well. They should be able to communicate effectively and be engaging,
practitioners also need to build a rapport and develop a relationship with children young people and
their families, so there is trust and respect from the practitioner, child and family. They also need to be
aware of how children, young people and families communicate and be able to adapt to all their needs
and abilities, also to understand non verbal communication such as facial expressions and body
language, this is extremely important to appreciate different people cultures. An important part of
communicating is active listening, which should be in a calm and non threating manner were the child
or family member feels comfortable to ask questions and understands what is being said to them.
The second skill highlighted in the prospects is Child and young person development. This core area

Utilization of Biodegradable Kitchen Wastes into Organic Fertilizer Using Earthworms * Abstract
One of the effective means to at least lessen the occurrence of our present garbage disposal problem is
through the use of methods that are non toxic, less expensive, less harmful, and yet equally effective.
This project aims to provide for a natural and effective way of disposing garbage.
During the experiment, kitchen wastes were collected. The materials were shredded and placed in
garbage bags with small holes. The temperature inside the bags was allowed to lower.
Three set ups were prepared and were covered with plastic. The first box contained pure carabao

Every living cell contains nitrogen and its abundance leads to green, succulent growth.
Phosphorous occurs in the protoplasm, with its great concentration in seeds thereby increasing their
production. Potassium influences the uptake of other elements and affects both respiration and
transpiration (Fitzpatrick, 1974). * Methodology
Kitchen wastes, composed mainly of vegetable and fruit peelings, were gathered, shredded, and placed
in garbage bags with small holes. Temperature build up inside the bags due to partial decomposition
was measured and allowed to lower down for one month until three consecutive declining of
temperature were achieved.
Three set ups measuring 15 x 8 inches were prepared and were covered with plastic. One box
contained pure carabao manure, the other box contained 70 percent carabao manure and 30 percent
processed kitchen wastes and the last box contained pure processed kitchen waste. About one hundred
pieces of Lumbricus terrestris were placed in each set up. The boxes were placed in a lighted area to
prevent the worms from escaping Since worms are known to be light sensitive. The set ups were
checked daily and watered to keep moisture. Upon consumption of the contents of the boxes, as
evidenced by the appearance of brown granular structures, the set ups were spread on newspapers
under the sunlight. The Lumbricus terrestris were gathered. The resultant product, called earthworm
castings, were then sun dried and passed

Parallel Support Vector Machines Is A Supervised Machine...
Parallel Support Vector Machine
Junfeng Wu Junming Chen May 6, 2016
1 INTRODUCTION
Support vector machines is a supervised machine learning alogrithom used for classification. The
problem could be written : minimize 1 |w |2 2 yi((w,xi)+b)−1≥0 where w is a linear combination of the
training data: n w = αi k(xi ) i=1 this could be further written in a dual form[5]: min 1αTQα−eTα α2
0≤αi ≤C, yTα=0,
∀i ≤n where Q is the kernel matrix.
This dual form is a quadratic programming problem with linear constraints. A solver to this problem
like SMO or IPM reuquires a time complexity of O(n3) and space complexity of O(n2), which makes
SVM hard to scale. In our final project we implemented two parallel quadratic programming solvers
for SVM and implemented a matrix factorization algorithm to improve the performance. Later we
evaluated our implementation.

Analysis Of The Movie The Bedroom With Fill The Gaps...
In 1979, Dubus creates an alternate world, where he propels readers through the emotional whirlpool
spinning in the mind of Matt Fowler, a man who is trying to cope with the tragic murder of his son; as
the tide, acting through his wife, becomes increasingly overwhelming, Matt is driven to seek revenge
through the killing of Richard Fowler (Dubus 1123 1136). Years later, in 2001, director Todd Field
produces the film adaptation In the Bedroom to fill the gaps Dubus s short story cannot; while the
story focuses more on the killings themselves, Field allows views to understand the emotional turmoil
that pushes characters to the edge, ultimately explaining the journey of how the killings come to be (In
the Bedroom). Although Dubus wrote ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Within the argument, the cinematographer films the scene as a shot reverse shot, further implying that
Matt and Ruth are in conflict. One can see the veil depression places Ruth after Frank s death,
enabling her to ask Matt for the literal unspeakable task of murder; in a short story, one cannot read
silence, but the silence permeating the film speaks louder than the Dubus s words.
While in neither the film nor short story does Ruth outwardly express her desire for the death of
Richard, within the film, one is able to glimpse into the inner workings of Matt s mind, understanding
the emotional manipulation, brought on by his wife, he endures. Matt describes how Ruth has concrete
objections which he trie[s] to overcome and in his intent to do this[,] he neglect[s] his own objects
(1127); here, Dubus is indirectly telling readers this is the foundation Ruth has previously built in her
marriage, allowing her to manipulate Matt into carrying out tasks, or specifically it (1136).
Furthermore, several times in the short story, Matt convinces himself that he [is] certain that [Ruth
knows and] she [is] waiting for him for she knows (Dubus 1125, 1134). In Field s adaptation, one can
see the change in behavior and demeanor both Matt and Ruth undergo, driving Matt to commit a
seemingly inevitable killing. Several times in the film, the camera focuses on Matt and then quickly
switches to a smash cut, implying disruption and cacophony follow Matt; however,

Enlightenment Historiography Essay
Did Enlightenment historiography neglect history?
Arthur Marwick in his Fundamentals of History suggests that when studying history it is important
that there is a distinction made between History and The Past, the former referring to the knowledge
produced by historians about the past together with the teaching of that knowledge. Marwick states
that the latter is just everything that actually happened, whether known, or written, about by historians
or not . Enlightenment historiography is particularly interesting because it shifted the way that
historians look at and study history, specifically how society started to prioritise human rationality
over faith. Previously, traditional Christian historians would account every major event or ... Show

This way of studying the enlightenment was criticised initially because it is hard to understand the
progress of enlightenment without any social or geographical context of how the path was paved for
great thinkers of the eighteenth century. Darnton suggested that perhaps new methodologies, that
would position the enlightenment into different geographical and economic perspectives as well as
consider how it was transmitted through media in eighteenth century France, needed to be developed
and practiced. This suggests that perhaps the way that historians such as Peter Gay studied the
enlightenment was far too simplistic and placed more importance on the writings of the great thinkers
than on the actual progress of the enlightenment during that time period. Although this shows that
some enlightenment historians ignored the social, geographical and economic context of the
enlightenment, it does not necessarily mean that they ignored History. This essay agrees with Marwick
in the sense that History should be defined as the bodies of knowledge produced about history and
should not be confused with the past. These enlightenment historians focused specifically on History
by looking at just the writings of philosophes such as Voltaire and Kant, and rather Neglected The Past
by not looking at social perspectives and

Evaluation Of The Psychiatric Emergency Room
Anna s stay
The average stay in my unit, the psychiatric emergency room, is typically anywhere from four hours to
twenty four hours. One patient recently broke the record with her stay being close to two weeks. This
was a major concern for our unit as placement for her was difficult to find and staff had never dealt
with a stay this long in the past. This particular patient s story was heart breaking. The patient (I will
call her Anna) was a foster child who had been bounced around from home to home. Her most recent
foster family was an elderly couple who was well to do and took care of the patient in their 1.2 million
dollar home. Unfortunately, this child had some major behavioral issues and oppositional defiant
disorder as a result of her difficult upbringing. Therefore, her foster family finally had enough and
dropped the child off to our unit. She was a very challenging patient and her patience was being tested
as a result of her long stay as well as the nursing staff s patience. A typical day working with this
patient usually included the patient ending up in restraints. Restraints were a daily occurrence for her.
She spent the majority of her stay in the secure core. The secure core is an area in the psychiatric
emergency room that includes three rooms and a small nursing station. The secure core is reserved for
patients that pose a risk for themselves or for patients that are psychotic and have lost touch with
reality. The

Orthodox Jewish Culture
Jewish culture is a specific set of customs, morals, and traditions of the Jewish people starting as far
back as four thousand years ago when Israel and Palestinian territories were still known as Canaan.
Jewish culture is able to fulfill a large majority of people s cultural ideals through their religious
beliefs, praying rituals, views on marriage and family, and their holidays celebrations, therefore
making it acceptable to say that the culture is going to attract a numerous amount of followers for
many years to come. A Jew is member of the people and cultural community whose traditional

Judaism follows the Ten Fundamental Principles which was derived from the Torah. The Torah is the
central reference of Judaism. The Jew s Torah is essentially the Christian s Bible. Although Judaism is
the main religion, it branches off into three denominations. These denominations include: orthodox,
conservative, and reform Judaism. Orthodox Judaism is then divided into modern orthodox and ultra
orthodox Judaism. Because Jews are often offended by the term ultra orthodox, they refer to
themselves as Haredi. An orthodox Jew is a person who follows the principles and practices of
traditional Judaism strictly. Modern orthodox Judaism is a orthodox practice that synthesizes Jewish
values and laws with the modern world, while an ultra orthodox, or Haredi Jew, distances themselves
from modern culture. Compared to orthodox Jews, conservative Jews adhere by the principles and
practices of traditional Judaism but allow some departure. Similar to orthodox Jews, conservative
Judaism once broke off into a branch called reconstructional Judaism. A reconstructionist Jew
followed the modern american movement that viewed Judaism as a progressively evolving civilization
rather than a religion during the late 1920s until the 1940s. This movement was based on the ideas of
Mordecai Kaplan, a rabbi, an essayist, and a Jewish educator. The final denomination is reform
Judaism. Reform Judaism is also known as liberal or progressive Judaism. Reform Judaism is the
abandonment of orthodox Jew aspects in order to adjust to modern changes in political, social, and
cultural life. Although the main goal of reform Judaism is to adjust to modern changes, the
denomination stills follows the moral lessons of the Torah. Because there are denominations that fit to
everybody s needs, it can be assumed that more people will convert to Judaism based on their desire to

Kristallnacht Informative Essay
On January 30, 1933, one of the most horrible events occurred. Everyone knows this day as the
beginning of The Holocaust. The Holocaust is one of the most horrific genocides. During The
Holocaust, six million Jewish people got murdered by Nazis. Men, women, and even children died. I
want to discuss this event in history. But there are also other events in history that are like The
Holocaust. Things like antisemitism, racism, and bullying, which are real issues as well. Today, I will
be discussing these problems, as well as discuss how you can stop it as a group, individual, and as a
nation.
On November 9, 1938, Kristallnacht occurred, it was a horrific day for European Jews. Kristallnacht
means The Night of Broken Glass.¨ On that night Jewish people got beaten and killed, their homes got
broken into, and Jewish women and children got brutalized. Synagogues got burnt down and Jewish
stores were destroyed. Windows of the stores were broken and glass was everywhere. According to
Elie Wiesel who said For dead and for the living we must bear witness. the Jewish people could not do

Father Boyle should not give the information he knows about the gang members to the police, because

him and learn to trust him. Father Boyle had to put in an extensive amount of work so that these kids

Family Guy Influence
There are many cartoons and sitcoms on television for both adults and children. They range from
Disney Channel to Fox, but most have one thing in common: the father figure is a bumbling fool.
While enjoyable, many of these shows are damaging to our society and it makes one wonder if there is
a connection between kids and teenagers who watch these shows and not respecting men or the father
figures in their life.
In Family Guy, the idiot is Peter Griffin, in The Simpsons it is Homer Simpson, and in American Dad
it is Stan Smith. Even children s shows such as Good Luck Charlie participate in the new standard. It
is a sad reality but one that most Americans face whether they realize it or not. Whether the dad on the

Rather than admitting to the accident and trying to fix it, Peter bribes his daughter Megan into taking
the blame in exchange for buying her a new car. What kind of message does this send to teens and
young adults?
These shows make life seem easy and unimportant. The father figures earn no respect and create
multiple problems for themselves and for their families on a daily basis. The message it sends is that it
is ok to be lazy. It is fine to lie and cheat. There is no problem with not having a respectable
reputation. Adultery, stealing, and violent assault is acceptable. The list goes on and on.
What if there were a show created in which the father has a respectable career, he takes care of his
family, respects his wife, and helps his children with any problem that may arise? What if the lead
character is smart and honest, kind and level headed? Would that have an impact on teens and how
they view their fathers? To take it even further, perhaps it would have an impact on dads and their self
image. Perhaps it would help them to strive to be better and to set a good example for those around

The Social Problem Of Family Violence And Abuse
The social problem I decided to discuss is the subject of family violence and abuse, which includes
spouses and children. Now, as Ember and Ember explain in the text, in order to deal with violence
within families, we must first decide on what should be classified as abuse and what is not (Ember
Ember, pg. 230). The word abuse can have various definitions across cultures, as not everyone thinks
of it in the same way. To some, hitting a child is a perfectly acceptable form of punishment and of wife
beating can be seen in a male dominating household as a necessary act to keep a spouse in check. I
personally believe that abuse can be defined as the repeatedly cruel or violent treatment of someone,
mainly intended to do harm against that person. I believe that in order to combat this problem, there is
a few main actions that can be done that can at least reduce the amount of family violence we see
throughout cultures. For one, people need to acknowledge that family violence, both domestic
violence and child abuse is real and exists throughout countless societies and communities. The
second is to realize that family violence is not a necessary behavior and can actually have long lasting
and damaging effects on the people we love the most. The third action is to educate people in
alternative ways they can deal with their family members without having to resort to violence.
The first most important step in solving any problem is to actually express that there is a problem in

Emergency Contraception For Women s Reproductive Rights
In class, we have been discussion current controversies around the use of emergency contraception for
women. Women s reproductive rights are one of the most influential human rights battles facing our
society. Women s reproductive rights activists state that women should be allowed emergency
contraception, because it declines the rates of abortions and is a staple for women s health and
independency. Opponents of emergency contraception declare it is against their religious beliefs
because it causes abortions (). The article, Crisis of Conscience, which we discussed in class dives
deep into this issue and provides a logical progression of the different areas cornering religious
freedom of expression and human rights.
In this article, the author is trying to provide the reader with a complete picture of the national debate
discussing, If a pharmacist has the right to refuse health care services based on moral grounds. Also,
the article tries takes a look at the overall controversy and the laws surrounding the pharmacist s
refusal to provide health care. It helps educate the reader and show them that a pharmacist s right to
refusal is wrong and should not be allowed. They begin discussing how an individual s views on
emergency contraception correlate with when they believe life begins. If someone believes life beings
at fertilization, then they would view emergency contraception as an abortifacent. Consequently, if an
individual believes life begins at contraception or

Patriarchy Of Ephesians
Often times, when the term Head is used in a marriage, such as, the husband is the head of the wife, it
stimulates the perception of the husbands being the dominate force in the relationship, having
authority, control, and power. However, Apostle Paul s message to the Ephesians was to institute
structure within a close and intimate union, or some form of social institution marking a commitment
between individuals to live as a family, which is recognized as a blueprint of Christ s love for the
church. That being said, there are three forms of social organization: A patriarchy, which the father is
the supreme authority. Matriarchy, is when the mother is the dominant authority. Lastly, equalitarian

Coca Cola (Consumer Product) and John Deere (Industrial)
Background
As the world becomes more connected through the internet, many companies expand their businesses
into foreign market space. According to Michalski (2015), the success of international expansion
depends on the right market entry strategy, understanding of environmental factors, enterprise
capacity, marketing activities (p. 111). In order to improve tis chance of success, a company should
carefully examine various aspects of the business (i.e. performance, human resources, financial
resources, production resources, and logistics resources), find ways to capitalize on its strengths, and
remedy its weaknesses (Michalski, 2015, p. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The pressure to differentiate itself and stay ahead of the competition is even greater with the growing
number of new entrants. For North America market, Coca Cola has shifted its sparkling beverage
strategy and core business model to focus more on transactions and revenue, while building a leading
portfolio of still beverages, which resulted in consistent growth in the past few years (Moye, 2016).
For its global growth strategy, the company has to continue to evaluate various aspects of the business
mentioned above in order to make appropriate adjustments to stimulate growth at the global scale. To
that end, Coca Cola has already taken a step to position itself in a rapidly changing consumer industry
landscape. On April 25, 2017, James Quincey, who became a new CEO of the Coca Cola Company on
May 1, announced that in order to accelerate growth, the company will have to cut down costs and
wastes through better innovation and increased productivity. The leaner corporate initiatives may
result in job reduction of approximately 1,200 jobs (The Coca Cola Company, 2017).

Wordsworth s Hope For Humans And Nature
Wordsworth s Hope for Humans and Nature
Does anyone fully understand why people go for walks through the woods to try to relax? William
Wordsworth believed that nature was a key that unlocked the soul trapped in the human body. In his
poem, I Wandered Lonely as a Cloud, he described how free his soul felt when immersed in nature.
Wordsworth loved nature and wanted the rest of the human race to become conscious of nature s
charm on the human soul. Wordsworth explained how he wanted humans to become more involved in
nature by using peaceful metaphors, exciting personification, and a repetition of happiness and hope
throughout this work.
Wordsworth was a romantic poet throughout the 1800 s. Romantic poetry was marked by heightened
emotion and sentiment; a strong sense of individualism; a respect for nature, history and mysticism;
and a return to first person lyric poems, (Mandell). As many of the poems in the romantic time period,
this is a first person lyric. The speaker of the lyrical poem is Wordsworth s soul when he is in nature.
Nature was a crucial part of his life, as he would go on long trips across the country to spend copious
amounts of time in nature. For example, before his final semester, he set out on a walking tour of
Europe, an experience that influenced both his poetry and political sensibilities. (William
Wordsworth). During majority of these escapades, he wrote many poems similar to this. Wordsworth
wrote about nature and how happy he was when

Wal Mart Organization As My Company Of Interest
Abstract
For this final research paper I chose Wal Mart organization as my company of interest. The research
conducted for this paper includes eight references supporting statements pertaining to the Wal Marts
compensation and benefits plans. In the paper I briefly discussed some financial and health benefits
offered by Wal Mart. During the discussion of the financial benefits we touched on the 401(k) plan,
the Employee Stock Option Plan, and the Military Differential pay. I pointed out how Wal Marts
Military Differential Pay is above most companies as they pay employee s full salary if they are called
to active duty as most companies only pay the difference of what the employee is making with the
military and would be making with the organization (Jathar, 2013). I also attempted to show how Wal
Marts health benefits compared to other companies by discussing their Health Insurance plan and their
Health Reimbursement Account. I pointed out how Wal Mart associates are paying on average $7000
more annually than other employees with similar Health Reimbursement Account. I think the only
way to fix this is for our government to take the same action as many of our sister countries and at a
minimum mandate a cap that employer s can have employee s pay in to these accounts. In all I feel
from the research and past personal experience that Wal Mart is a great organization to work for even
with the few needed improvements.

The Eu Reputation Of Being A Formidable Economic Block
financial crisis that is still affecting the European continues have destroyed the EU reputation of being
a formidable economic block. Over the past seven years, Greek, Portugal, Spain and Ireland have all
been on the edge of finical collapse threatening to bring down the economies of Europe. Before the
creation of the European currency countries like Greek, Spain and Portugal had to pay high interests
on the amount of money they borrowed form banks. At the same time, international Banks were not
comfortable enough to lend them too much money. For this reason, economically weak countries like
Greek, Spain and Portugal had to balance their budget and spending. After Greek and other European
counters joined the EU, they were given vast access to capital in a form of loans, and the amount of
money they borrowed increased rapidly. Smaller counters suddenly had lager access for credit like
never before so they borrowed money and built houses, roads, and health sectors. Even If the EU
member states were unable to repay their loans economically strong countries like Briton, and germen
would stepped in and cover some of the loses because they were now bound by a common currency.
With a few years, the governments of Greek, Portugal, and Spain accumulated huger debt. However,
they were able to repay this debt with more borrowed money. Credit flowed debt accumulated and the
economies of Europe became tightly intertwined. Finally, the 2008 financial crisis brought borrowing

What Is The Mood Of The Last Supper
The Analysis of The Last Supper
The Renaissance is a significant period of the West in the history. Literature, painting, architecture and
others have changed a lot during this period. As a master, The Last Supper has become the one of
Leonardo da Vinci s most famous masterpieces. This article will briefly discuss the Last Supper, about
its basic details and characteristics.
The Last Supper is a popular subject of painting in history; however, the most famous version is
painted by Leonardo da Vinci. We all know that Leonardo da Vinci is one of the key artists of the
Renaissance; his works lead the Renaissance into climax. Renaissance refers to the rebirth, meaning
that the artistic and literary to be renaissance under the influence of the classical norm. Actually, due
to the development of capitalism, people focus on real life more and more, so humanism which based
on the religion background has become so popular during that time. The Last Supper is the best proof.
In addition, as the fresco, The Last Supper is unfortunate, Leonardo da Vinci put the oil and tempera

Black Culture And Its Effects On Society
Urban areas are known for their large amounts of minority populations while rural areas are usually
associated with people of Caucasian descent. The word urban has become synonymous with the
phrase, inner city. Historically, these terms strengthen the idea of white flight which is defined as the
departure of whites from places (such as urban neighborhoods or schools) increasingly or
predominantly populated by minorities (Merriam Webster). Both of these words are often used as
adjectives to describe people who are lazy and insolent. This feeds directly into harmful stereotypes
about minority populations such as black men being unintelligent and lazy human beings who depend

How can a low income sick person pay for an expensive treatment especially when they are not

they may encounter in life, but certainly not everyone has such funds. When people are diagnosed

Becker Seminars are lectures or events that are either sponsored by the Chancellors Honors Program
or sponsored by another university program and approved by the honors program ( Honors and
Scholars ).
When students attend a Becker Seminar, a staff member from the Chancellors Honors Program stamps
the students honors passports, and when they complete community service, an event coordinator signs
the passport to verify the student s attendance. Honors Passports are small 4x6 inch paper booklets
that are issued to every student in the Chancellors Honors Program from the year 2014 and on. This
requirement was a result of the Chancellors Honors Program s restructuring in 2014. The program
elevated its standards to make it more competitive and in line with the university s overall goal to be a

Honors Passport system and its negative effects are still growing. In 2014, there were roughly 300
students participating in the passport system. This year, 2015, roughly 600 students are using passports

Quotes From The Jamestown S Klallam Tribe
How strong are you? One of my favorite quotes is You never know how strong you are until being
strong is the only choice you have is a quote that might connect to some more than others In all, this
quote represents struggle and the resilience someone has to possess to make it through whatever they
re going through. The Jamestown S Klallam tribe(The Strong People) originated in 1874 near the
eastern end of the strait of Juan De Fuca, which is Northwestern Oregon today .The tribe has always
lived in the upper Washington area where they thrived on the agriculture and wildlife . Soon after
white settlers moved in and pushed the S klallam people out and forced them to relocate. The tribe
then moved to a new community that had all naturally resources called Jamestown, named after James
balch who was a leader within the tribe hints the renowned name. The story of The Mink And The

Coppola Genre Criticism
In other words, what would enable spectator to think that Marie is just a teenage girl, not the dauphine
of France in historical biopic despite of the costumes and film setting, is Coppola s use of a
contemporary pop and her aesthetic style. In short, as Coppola s engage with multiple border crossings
or in between spaces in her film often places the characters into vulnerable positions, she do so in
between stages where their identities are under erasure (Handyside 2007, 10). Genre criticism, on the
other hand, was emerged from a backlash against auteurism with the growing dissatisfaction in the
mid 1960s and early 1970s (Gledhill 2007, 252). Whereas the romantic tendency of auteur theory
which used to categorise the directors by a canon of the good or great directors and the rest (Hayward
2013, 30), genre seemed to offer critics a far more inclusive and democratic method, one which was
attuned to the industrial and commercial imperatives of Hollywood (Watson 2012, 189). The main
purpose of genre was an association of the concerns of film industry with the desires of its audiences
in so doing, it functions as a financial security blanket for the industry; a set of precepts and
expectations for audience; and a critical frame work for reviewers (189). Moreover, repetition is a
necessary instance of process in genre because genres establish a regulation of the variety of
mainstream narrative across a series of individual texts, organising and systematising the

The Five Principles Of The Western Way Of War
21C Technology, Discipline, Unique System of War Finance, Highly Aggressive Military Tradition,
and Emphasis on Innovation are the five principles of the Western Way of War. Having a unique
system of war finance, emphasis on innovation, and discipline are the aspects of the western way of
war that describe warfare in the age of Napoleon (1789 1815).
Unique systems of finance such as nation state resources, levee en masse, and alliances provided the
means to build, strengthen, and maintain military forces for war. Innovation was used to change
organizational design and maneuver practices which allowed the command and control of large
military forces and successful engagements of the enemy. Discipline allowed forces to understand and

(Mince Didier, 2014). The perpetrator is in a position of authority over the child and coerces the child
into participating in the sexual activity. The perpetrator is four or more years older than the child

Negative Review We hypothesized that a negative first impression would resonate with participants more so than negative review placed somewhere else in an evaluation, and therefore would produce a higher desire to avoid taking a class with the professor. We also hypothesized that female professors would generally be less desired, as well as be more intensely impacted by a negative impression than male professors would. We found no significance in effect of gender on the likelihood someone will take a class with a professor, both independently and paired with the position of a negative review. We did, however, find that there was a large main effect for the position of a negative review for both genders. It was surprising to find to the main effect of ... It can be hypothesized, then, based off of our findings, that at least in terms of evaluations and character judgment, the primacy effect is more significant than the recency effect. There are numerous ways to justify this claim, including looking back to the research of Hennessy et al. The researchers claim that perhaps their finding of an overpowering primacy effect can be a result of the lack of need to make a continual judgment. The participants of both the Hennessy et al. study as well as our study were put into circumstances where there was no pressure and low cost to make a judgment right from the start and not evaluate it later. Hennessy et al. also suggests that in cases of judgment the primacy effect is powerful in that participants use the first impression as a basis of understanding and then look for support for their original impression throughout the rest of the information presented, providing a biased view of the subject under ... • 4. The Ideology Of Slavery By Drew Gilpin Faust In The Ideology of Slavery by Drew Gilpin Faust, in Chapter 4 which is James Henry Hammond that writes a letter to an English Abolitionist, in a section he describes how he believes that Slavery is not a sin and is approved by Christ. It would seem that while God commanded Moses to free his people that were slaves to the Pharaoh, man is overlooking these in the Bible and that they are creating their own law and how their religion differs totally by what they do. I think, then, I may safely conclude, and I firmly believe, that American Slavery is not only not a sin, but especially commanded by God through Moses, and approved by Christ through his apostles (Faust 175). When reasoning between what is right and wrong, Americans only found that what they were doing was not necessarily evil or wrong just that God permitted it, and also white Americans found slavery to be very significant for their own lives, due to the fact that their way of making money and making a living involved the owning of humans to make themselves the most profitable. While Slavery was against humanity and Abolitionists who believed in abolition of the practice of slavery, the South had their own reasons why slavery was needed in America and how basically they supported pro slavery. • 5. Sociological Perspectives Of Sociology And Its Impact On... Sociology is an important part of today s society as it is all around us and is in everything we do. Sociology is the study of, the behaviour of people within society. It helps us to understand how society works and how the impact of relationships and interactions between people influence society. Sociology is shown through relationships, cultures, class, religion, education and upbringing. Sociology has different sociological perspectives for example symbolic interactionism and functionalism. Symbolic interactionism studies individuals and small groups within society and how they behave, interact and believe about how society is what it is. Symbolic Interactionism was created by Herbert Blumer. He based symbolic interactionism on three things which were that people act on the meanings of things, social interactions build meanings and meanings depend and are modified by people interacting with each other. Through communication and language, symbols are provided to understand the world that we live in. Smoking is an example of symbolic interactionism as teenagers believe it is cool to smoke, even though it Is bad for you and could lead to killing you but they think it makes them look good in front of their friends. Functionalism is the belief of everyone in society sharing the same norms and values that get passed on through generations. The plant cells located within wood are made to absorb water, as it is necessary for the functionality of the tree ( Wood and Water , 2006). When wood first absorbs water, the water is transported and held within the cell walls. However, as these walls cannot hold a large amount of water, additional water fills the cavities of tubular cells within fibers of the wood. Wood is also categorized as a hygroscopic material. This allows for wood to naturally absorb and dissipate water within its contiguous environment. Their results also showed that, with a waterborne topcoat and no primer, the higher density wood sample absorbed more water (Sivertsen). However, this experiment was done using softwoods, and therefore the results may differ for hardwoods. This experiment was an observational study of the correlation of wood species and surface coatings to the water absorption of wood. I took data on the amount of water absorbed by red oak, red maple, aspen, and balsam poplar wood of the same volume, but with varying surface coatings. My control group was left untreated, leaving the wood in its natural state. The four samples of wood in the other two groups were painted with latex paint and oil based stain respectively. The twelve total samples were then placed into buckets filled with water. At the end of seven days, the amount of water absorbed by wood was determined by measuring the amount of water remaining in the buckets. My hypothesis was that the species of wood and surface coatings do influence the amount of water absorbed by the wood. I believed that the surface coatings applied to the wood would aid in preventing a greater amount of water absorbed than in the wood s natural state, and that ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Derived from an old French vocabulary, the term tort refers to a wrongful act. It is paramount for Scott to understand that tort is very different from a regular crime. Whereas an individual suffers from injury due to an act of another person and the court can present a redress in a tort, in a crime, the wrong is perceived to target the entire community and the courts are required to follow the prevailing criminal law to offer requisite punishment to the person who is being accused of criminal liability. Scott must successfully establish that the three elements that constitute a tort were inherent in the circumstances that led to his injury. The three elements are the existence of a duty to take care of his safety and interests by the boat owner; Matt s breach of such duty of care and the possible quantification of damages that are due to him due to the harm or injuries caused by the breach of duty by Mr. Matt. It is these three elements that distinguish negligence from carelessness. The duty of care that Scott would be required to ascertain before the courts for a successful suit were first described by Lord Atkin in Donoghue v. Stevenson 1932 AC 562. While presiding over the case and in a majority ruling, Lord Atkin states that a duty to use ordinary care and skill arises in circumstances where the conduct of another might put others in danger. Reasonable care must be taken in particular circumstances to avoid omissions or acts that can be reasonably foreseen to as likely causes of harm or injury to another person. Whenever a person is engaged in actions whose outcomes he or she can reasonably foresee will likely to cause harm or injury to another person, a duty of care is then owed to that other person. Two tests must therefore be met to ascertain the existence of a duty of care from Matt determination of proximity and foreseeability of the circumstances that led to Scott s injuries. Parallel Support Vector Machine Junfeng Wu Junming Chen May 6, 2016 1 INTRODUCTION Support vector machines is a supervised machine learning alogrithom used for classification. Arthur Marwick in his Fundamentals of History suggests that when studying history it is important that there is a distinction made between History and The Past, the former referring to the knowledge produced by historians about the past together with the teaching of that knowledge. Marwick states that the latter is just everything that actually happened, whether known, or written, about by historians or not . Enlightenment historiography is particularly interesting because it shifted the way that historians look at and study history, specifically how society started to prioritise human rationality over faith. This way of studying the enlightenment was criticised initially because it is hard to understand the progress of enlightenment without any social or geographical context of how the path was paved for great thinkers of the eighteenth century. Darnton suggested that perhaps new methodologies, that would position the enlightenment into different geographical and economic perspectives as well as consider how it was transmitted through media in eighteenth century France, needed to be developed and practiced. This suggests that perhaps the way that historians such as Peter Gay studied the enlightenment was far too simplistic and placed more importance on the writings of the great thinkers than on the actual progress of the enlightenment during that time period. Although this shows that some enlightenment historians ignored the social, geographical and economic context of the enlightenment, it does not necessarily mean that they ignored History. This essay agrees with Marwick in the sense that History should be defined as the bodies of knowledge produced about history and should not be confused with the past. Now, as Ember and Ember explain in the text, in order to deal with violence within families, we must first decide on what should be classified as abuse and what is not (Ember Ember, pg. 230). The word abuse can have various definitions across cultures, as not everyone thinks of it in the same way. To some, hitting a child is a perfectly acceptable form of punishment and of wife beating can be seen in a male dominating household as a necessary act to keep a spouse in check. I personally believe that abuse can be defined as the repeatedly cruel or violent treatment of someone, mainly intended to do harm against that person. I believe that in order to combat this problem, there is a few main actions that can be done that can at least reduce the amount of family violence we see throughout cultures. For one, people need to acknowledge that family violence, both domestic violence and child abuse is real and exists throughout countless societies and communities. The second is to realize that family violence is not a necessary behavior and can actually have long lasting and damaging effects on the people we love the most. William Wordsworth believed that nature was a key that unlocked the soul trapped in the human body. In his poem, I Wandered Lonely as a Cloud, he described how free his soul felt when immersed in nature. Wordsworth loved nature and wanted the rest of the human race to become conscious of nature s charm on the human soul. Wordsworth explained how he wanted humans to become more involved in nature by using peaceful metaphors, exciting personification, and a repetition of happiness and hope throughout this work. Wordsworth was a romantic poet throughout the 1800 s. Romantic poetry was marked by heightened emotion and sentiment; a strong sense of individualism; a respect for nature, history and mysticism; and a return to first person lyric poems, (Mandell). As many of the poems in the romantic time period, this is a first person lyric. The speaker of the lyrical poem is Wordsworth s soul when he is in nature. Nature was a crucial part of his life, as he would go on long trips across the country to spend copious amounts of time in nature. For example, before his final semester, he set out on a walking tour of Europe, an experience that influenced both his poetry and political sensibilities. (William Wordsworth). During majority of these escapades, he wrote many poems similar to this. Wordsworth wrote about nature and how happy he was when ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 26. Wal Mart Organization As My Company Of Interest Abstract For this final research paper I chose Wal Mart organization as my company of interest. The research conducted for this paper includes eight references supporting statements pertaining to the Wal Marts compensation and benefits plans. In the paper I briefly discussed some financial and health benefits offered by Wal Mart. During the discussion of the financial benefits we touched on the 401(k) plan, the Employee Stock Option Plan, and the Military Differential pay. I pointed out how Wal Marts Military Differential Pay is above most companies as they pay employee s full salary if they are called to active duty as most companies only pay the difference of what the employee is making with the military and would be making with the organization (Jathar, 2013). I also attempted to show how Wal Marts health benefits compared to other companies by discussing their Health Insurance plan and their Health Reimbursement Account. I pointed out how Wal Mart associates are paying on average $7000 more annually than other employees with similar Health Reimbursement Account. I think the only way to fix this is for our government to take the same action as many of our sister countries and at a minimum mandate a cap that employer s can have employee s pay in to these accounts. In all I feel from the research and past personal experience that Wal Mart is a great organization to work for even with the few needed improvements. KEYWORDS: employee compensation and benefits, ... Over the past seven years, Greek, Portugal, Spain and Ireland have all been on the edge of finical collapse threatening to bring down the economies of Europe. Before the creation of the European currency countries like Greek, Spain and Portugal had to pay high interests on the amount of money they borrowed form banks. At the same time, international Banks were not comfortable enough to lend them too much money. For this reason, economically weak countries like Greek, Spain and Portugal had to balance their budget and spending. After Greek and other European counters joined the EU, they were given vast access to capital in a form of loans, and the amount of money they borrowed increased rapidly. Smaller counters suddenly had lager access for credit like never before so they borrowed money and built houses, roads, and health sectors. Even If the EU member states were unable to repay their loans economically strong countries like Briton, and germen would stepped in and cover some of the loses because they were now bound by a common currency. Coppola Genre Criticism In other words, what would enable spectator to think that Marie is just a teenage girl, not the dauphine of France in historical biopic despite of the costumes and film setting, is Coppola s use of a contemporary pop and her aesthetic style. In short, as Coppola s engage with multiple border crossings or in between spaces in her film often places the characters into vulnerable positions, she do so in between stages where their identities are under erasure (Handyside 2007, 10). Genre criticism, on the other hand, was emerged from a backlash against auteurism with the growing dissatisfaction in the mid 1960s and early 1970s (Gledhill 2007, 252). Whereas the romantic tendency of auteur theory which used to categorise the directors by a canon of the good or great directors and the rest (Hayward 2013, 30), genre seemed to offer critics a far more inclusive and democratic method, one which was attuned to the industrial and commercial imperatives of Hollywood (Watson 2012, 189). The main purpose of genre was an association of the concerns of film industry with the desires of its audiences in so doing, it functions as a financial security blanket for the industry; a set of precepts and expectations for audience; and a critical frame work for reviewers (189). What difference in age is acceptable? Is it really the age of the person that dictates whether or not an individual is capable of making rational decisions about having intercourse? Are there special circumstances when using the term? Mitchell Rogers (2003) stated that part of the struggle with the reporting of sexual abuse is because of the confusion over the legal definitions of the acts and how to differentiate one from another. This confusion may also be contributing to the reports of sexual abuse because not all mandated reporters are clear on the definitions, but they know what is happening with the child is not right.
