Computerized Physician Order Entry Systems
Computerized Physician Order Entry systems or CPOE was introduce to the healthcare field to
aid in the reduction of medical errors. The goal of an CPOE system is to reduce healthcare cost
by reducing the number of errors, increasing medication safety. With every new product there will
always be some unexpected problems that may surface. In regards to CPOE those unexpected
problems are referred to as Unintended Adverse Consequences or UAC. According to Sittig Ash,
2011 UAC s are events that are neither anticipated or unanticipated, they are simply unfortunate
mistakes that happens along the way. Altogether they are nine UAC s they range from: never
ending system demands, more/new work for clinicians, paper persistence, changes in
communication patterns and practices, new kinds of error, change in the power structure,
workflow issues, emotions, overdependence on technology (Sittig Ash, 2011). UAC s can have a
huge impact on the implementation as well as the ongoing maintenance of the system. As a result,
UAC s can have a negative outcome when it comes to the patient, cause medical cost to be higher
and even unforeseen medical errors. Out of the nine UAC s this analytical report will focus on the
workflow issues. Workflow according to (Campbell, Guappone, Sittig, DyksTra, Ash, 2008) is the
activities, tools and processes needed to produce or modify work, product or services. When it
comes to workflow most system can unintendedly add be confusing, misunderstanding, and

Contestants In Survivor Psychology
The television show Survivor focuses on a group of strangers in an isolated location, where they
compete in challenges for rewards and immunity from being eliminated, as well as having to
provide shelter, food, and fire for themselves. The winner is decided by a vote from the eliminated
contestants, also known as the jury. Contestants are voted off at tribal council, but have the chance
to be immune from the vote through immunity challenges. Contestants in Survivor are affected
physically, psychologically, and emotionally by things they can and can t control. For example,
they have no choice in who they are competing against, but they have some control over how much
food they have, depending on things like if they can fish or not. The... Show more content on

The producers use the disparities in age to create drama and keep their viewers entertained.
In Survivor, the players are constantly under a great amount of stress. The different types of
stress can have a huge impact on how they end up playing the game. For example, physical
stressors, such as food deprivation, also alter psychological factors such as motivation and
irritability, and can increase impulsive and aggressive behavior (Gerrig 75). In other words, the
toll of physical stress can lead to more aggressive and more impulsive players as well as affecting
the players moods. Throughout every episode there is some form of aggression. Wilson found four
different types of aggression and labelled them as, theft, verbal aggression, minor aggression, and
deceit (9). He defines each type of aggression, saying,
Theft was defined as taking the property of another person without the owner s consent or
knowledge (e.g., robbery, burglary, and larceny). Verbal aggression was any nonphysical act that
places another under duress with the intention to pressure, constrain, or persuade in a noxious
manner (e.g., extortion, coercion, threats, abridgment of privacy, and harassment). Verbal
aggression was any hostile remark meant to diminish another s self image or cause psychological
harm. Minor aggression was any physical aggression resulting in minor harm or no harm to another,
including acts like slapping, punching, and kicking. Deceit was purposely misleading another

A Feministic View on Jackson’s Short Stories †the
Lottery’...
Shirley Jackson is most famous for her short story The Lottery and her novel The Haunted House .
She has been applauded for her fresh approach towards American Gothic writing. There are many
works dedicated to the gothic elements her stories contain. However, most critics overlooked the
feminist elements that most of her stories have. The two short stories discussed in this essay both
have female characters who are outsiders in their society. Careful examination of the protagonists
course of action, setting, and symbolic references Shirley Jacksonput in both of the stories shows
that the female protagonist in both The Lotteryand The Tooth should be considered as a woman
with a feminist attitude towards a male dominated society.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

However, towards the end of the story Tessie transforms into a different woman once her family
is chosen. The next passage indicates Tessie s transformation when all of the sudden, Tessie
Hutchinson shouts to Mr. Summers, You didn t give him time enough to take any paper he
wanted. I saw you. It wasn t fair! (298). Her husband did not receive an honest treatment
according to Tessie, which will eventually lead to her downfall. Now that she is the victim, there
is a significant change in attitude towards the town and its tradition. She is no longer a good
natured woman who finds the lottery on great joke, instead, she stands up to this old tradition
and is more nervous and aggressive than ever before in the story. This is the complete opposite
of what we first saw of Tessie, a simple woman concerned more with her dishes than the lottery.
The character of Tessie, in the end of the story, is fully aware of the consequences of this same
lottery and she protests against the tradition which is so deeply rooted in her society. Because of
the first impression of Tessie the reader would have expected her to just shrug her shoulders,
instead Tessie does completely the opposite and stands up for her own rights. In The Tooth Clara

The Mistreatment Of The Zeitoun Family
Renowned journalist and author, Dave Eggers, in his famed novel, Zeitoun, recounts the
mistreatment of the Zeitoun family in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina based on their racial and
religious profiles in a post 9/11 America. His purpose is to reveal the unwarranted injustices faced
by Muslim American Hurricane Katrinavictims through a description of the Zeitoun family s
experiences, in order to educate his readers of the impact discrimination has on emergency
response. Eggers adopts a sympathetic tone towards the protagonists as they fall victim to the
government s unpreparedness, and maintains a critical tone to address the American government s
failure in protecting the rights of the hurricane s victims. Eggers employs logos to... Show more

. . other agencies . . . [that] were involved (307), especially paranoia regarding Islamist terrorists
from the 9/11 attack, resulted in the systematic search to incarcerate Muslims like Zeitoun. As a
result, when Zeitoun is about to enter Camp Greyhound and questions a passing soldier why he
and his friends have been arrested, the soldier replies, You guys are Al Qaeda (212), concurring
with the MSSTs purpose of apprehending potential members of major terrorist groups. Obviously,
this is not a rational reason for an arrest, as the men have done nothing illegal. Eggers uses this
appeal to authority (through the quote of a soldier actively participating in the situation) to
underline just how much more of a role race and religion play in Hurricane Katrina s law
enforcement than actual criminal behavior. Zeitoun s only crime is being Arab and believing in
Allah in a time when Islamophobia is rampant, reasons that do not justify the mistreatment he
suffers during the next couple of weeks as a supposed terrorist. Therefore, through the inclusion of
credible evidence and quotes, Eggers successfully harnesses logos to affirm the unmerited racial
and religious injustices that Zeitoun faces during and after his arrest, simply because he is a
Middle Eastern, Muslim man. Besides logical appeal, Eggers also uses stark juxtaposition in his
writing, in order to draw attention to the injustices that the Zeitoun family faces. To depict their life

The Posse Comitatus Act of 1878 Following the defeat of the Confederacy during the U.S. Civil
War, the Union Army occupied the South, known as the Reconstruction period. Tensions were high
as the North attempted to restore order and bring the southern states back into the fold. During the
presidential election of 1876, federal troops actively patrolled and monitored polling sites
throughout the South and many thought that their presence intimated Southern voters and swayed
the election (Spak et al., 2004). In response, the Posse Comitatus Act of 1878 was enacted,
prohibiting U.S. military personnel from direct participation in law enforcement activities
(Matthews, 2014). While the Posse Comitatus Act of 1878 prevents the U.S. military from
conducting law enforcement activities, it does not mention any constraints on the National Guard.
The Utilization of the National Guard for Domestic Response
The National Guard is subject to Article I, Section 8 of the Constitution, which places them under
state control and authorizes them to enforce laws upon the request of the governor (Spak et al.,
2004).

The Practices and Processes Shaping Racism in British Society
The Practices and Processes Shaping Racism in British Society
The concept of racism is a relatively modern term that made its appearance in the 18th century.
The practices and processes that have helped shape racism in British society today must be looked
at as a series of ideologies, that have been built into British institutions and organisations as a
consequence of the historical contexts of colonialism and imperialism. However, ideas of race and
differences between races are rooted even earlier than this, even as far back in history as the 16th
century. Even though racism can operate on levels of both individual racism and institutional racism,
it is the later that will be looked at in this essay together with the historical context ... Show more

These goods were exchanged for slaves who where then taken on the second leg of the triangular
journey to the West Indies and Southern America where they were used to produce goods such as
cotton, tobacco, sugarcane and coffee. These slave produced goods were shipped back to Britain
where they were manufactured or refined, and either sold domestically or re exported (Ramdin
1987).
This growth of trade during the 16th and 17th century, brought about the establishment of the
Colonial Board in 1661, its objective was to decide how best to populate and work the colonies
of the new world. The political aspect of this was the increasing concern that emigration of white
workers to the colonies would eventually leave a shortage of cheap labour at home. The Royal
Family gave its patronage to the African slave trade in 1680 by the formation of the Royal
African Company (Ramdin 1987). This move could be argued to be seen as giving legitimacy to
the belief that the Africans where more suited to labour than the white peoples, it could be argued
that it is here that we see the first signs of racism emerging in British society.
The 18th century saw a great change in moral and religious beliefs brought about by the period of
the enlightenment. From 1748, arguments arose against slavery. In 1758 the Quakers started to
campaign against slavery and were quickly joined by the Protestants. By 1783 anti slavery had
become a National political issue. This can in some part be

Malware Detection And Machine Learning
LITERATURE REVIEW
In this chapter, we do an extensive study of malware detection and machine learning. This includes
malware types, life cycle of a malware, malware analysis and detection, strategies for malware
detection as well as machine learning and its types. MALWARE
Malware has been given different names and definitions. The word Malware is used to describe any
form of malicious code also called malcode, malicious software or programs. One common
definition of malware is the definition by McGraw and Morrisett (2000), that defines a malware
as any code added, changed, or removed from a software system in order to intentionally cause
harm or subvert the intended function of the system. Vasudevan Yerraballi (2006) also describe
malware as a generic term that encompasses viruses, trojans, spywares and other intrusive code.
According to Christodorescu et al. (2005) any program that has a malevolent objective is a
malware. Malware are generally created to compromise the confidentiality, integrity, or availability
of the data/information in a computer system or network. MALWARE TYPES
One way of ensuring that the process of analysing malware is as fast as possible is by making
informed hypotheses about the malware and its function. These hypotheses can then be tested.
Since it is evident that better hypotheses can be made upon knowing what the malware does, some
of the categories in which most malware fall into as explained by Sikorski Honig (2012) are

Infant Language Development Essay
The understanding of the world can be defined as the infant s notion of other s and the surrounding.
The question is whether infants are pre programmed with an initial concept of the world. Many
experiments conducted supported the idea that a new born infant holds an understanding of the
world. Cognitive development of a human being begins during the prenatal period. Consequently,
infants do have a comprehension of the world. Infants are not mindless in fact they are born with
the ability to identify voices, faces, interact and perform metacognition. An infantis preloaded with a
system designed to socially develop completely. They are able to discern their mother tongue since
they have gotten a earful during the prenatal period, similarly with their mothers voices. An
experiment was performed to prove the validity of this. Ninety one infants from French families
were tested with English and Japanese. The infants were on pacifiers that functioned to calculate
the times sucked. The French infants sucking rate when hearing English sentences were higher than
hearing Japanese sentences. Infants can identify a familiar language by listening to the tempo the
specific language. (Nazzi et al,. 1998)

infants can make sense of pictorial depth in the surrounding

main goal of the initiative is to combat the childhood obesity epidemic. The program has put in
place multiple action plans, in the hopes of putting kids in the path to a healthy lifestyle. The
campaign has also included parents and schools to be a part of these programs. They are key
places and people that allow for child development and decision making. Although this is a
national campaign, strategies are being implemented within small communities across the nation.
Some of the interventions that can be found are: Let s Move! Active Schools, Let s Move! Cities,

Text Messaging and Persuasive Speech Outline
Persuasive Speech Outline on Texting while driving March 21st, 2013 I. Introduction A. The
main premise of my argument is that no one for whatever reason should be texting while driving.
B: Defining the issue: Distracted driving while texting 1. Texting and driving 2. Lack of
concentration, losing focus on driving 3. Looking at texts and not paying attention to the
surroundings scenery C: Standing on this issue? All drivers need to be aware of distracted driving
and take steps to minimize the risk to themselves and others. I m asking you today to listen to the
statistics and the stories and decide for yourself whether that one text message, is worth the cost of
a human life. II. Supporting Facts #1 A: While distracted... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
C: Conclusion about this detail: It is very important to first acknowledge the dangerous impact of
this distraction s alarming statistics that shows about the safety of driving while texting. Many
people don t see and think about the consequences that can occur in this situation. More and more
companies are implementing new strategies, for instance, signing a pledge not to use the phone
while on the road, and these new changes are adding more responsible drivers. But it is still not
enough to say that we have gained control over the problem. V: Conclusion: Therefore according to
the facts and statistics that were shown previously, people that are still texting while driving might
think that they can juggle these big frames of steel they drive every day, with devices like their cell
phones without paying the price, are greatly mistaken! First off, no one can say that texting while
driving is not one if not the most dangerous action one can do behind a motorized vehicle. What can
refute that problem that seems all around us whether commuting or not. Consequently due to the
nature of the cell phone use while behind the wheel drivers should not have permission under any
circumstance to text while driving. Regardless of the stance every individual takes on this matter,
people need to realize the importance of this issue and implement the good driving behaviors. As

Philosophers During The Enlightenment
The Enlightenment philosophers were some of the smartest thinkers who changed the way people
think during the 16th and 17th century. The philosophers changed the way we live and think today.
These discussions helped shape the capitalistic, democratic world in which we live in today. There
were numerous great philosophers during this time period that taught us many different methods of
teaching and understanding new observations.
John Locke was a philosopher who was born in England 1632. He lived in England during both
the English civil war and the Glorious Revolution. Locke believed that all men are naturally in a

about religion in society. John Locke and Voltaire both had two very similar ideas about how
people have the right to choose what they want to do and that people are naturally free.
Adam Smith was born June, 1723 in a place called Kirkcaldy in The United Kingdom. Smith was a
supporter in economic decision making. He believed that individual work benefits themselves more
than a whole group would. He thinks that if everyone worked as an individual than the world would

Whole grain is a great brain stimulator because it contains high percentage of folate.
Make sure you re eating a diet rich in whole grain breads, cereals, barley, popcorn, etc., because
they can boost your blood flow to the brain. Every organ in the body is dependent on blood flow...
especially the brain.
Wholegrain breads and cereals are rich in Vitamin B6, an important brain vitamin. Wheat germ

Nuts
Everything from the most common nuts such as walnuts, hazelnuts, cashews and almonds to the
more exotic seeds and nuts can clear up that brain fog and enable you to think clearer and are
positive mood enhancers.
2. Walnuts
Both literally and figuratively speaking, walnuts are brain food . Physically the walnut looks a lot
like the human brain. The thin, outer green cover that is taken out before the walnuts are sold is
similar to the scalp. The hard shell of a walnut is like a skull. The thin sheet inside, with its paper
like partitions between the two halves of the walnut, is like the membrane. The shape of the walnut
itself represents the human brain s two hemispheres. Walnuts are made up of 15 to 20 percent
protein and contain linoleic (omega 6 fatty acids) and alpha linoleic acids (omega 3 fatty acids),
vitamin E and vitamin B6, making them an excellent source of nourishment for your nervous system

James Weldon Johnson My City Essay
The sonnet poem, My City, by James Weldon Johnson is about how a man is so in love with his
city, Manhattan that he doesn t want to die and never be able to see it again. This poem shows the
emotion connection he shares with his city. The mood, tone, theme, imagery, repetition, and
personification in the poem will help you to understand it better. If it weren t for these details, you
wouldn t quite understand this piece as well, since there would be many ways to interpret it. The
speaker gives a personal statement in this piece of poetry. He asks what his greatest loss would be
once he dies, and he answers it in detail. You will see the poet s love for Manhattan, and see how
beautiful his emotional connection is with it.

The poet talks about all the things that he won t miss after death, which is nature. He uses
imagery to express it. Johnson (1923) writes, Will it be that no more I shall see the trees/ Or
smell the flowers or hear the singing birds/ Or watch the flashing streams or patient herds? (p.
677). He gets you to imagine nature and its beauty, and then writes, No, I am sure it will be none
of these. (Johnson, 1923, p. 677). Now that you know it s not nature that he will miss the most, he
continues to talk about his city, Manhattan, and that it would be the thing he would miss the most.
The poet then uses personification and repetition to explain what he loves about his city. Johnson
(1923) writes, But ah! Manhattan s sights and sounds, her smells,/ Her crowds, her throbbing
force, the thrill that comes/ From being of her a part, her subtle spells,/ Her shining towers, her
avenues, her slums (p. 677). The personification here clearly shows the emotional connection he
shares with his city. The fact that he refers to his city as a her just shows how much he loves
Manhattan. Also, as you can see, there is a repetition of the word her, which creates excitement in
the tone of the poem. It changes the mood entirely and the fact that the poet constantly refers to his
city as a her, and not an it just shows how much love he has for Manhattan. The

Argumentative Essay On Social Security
Many people have many different views about the federal government and its role in our economy.
Some people feel that the government should have very little control over the state, while some
believe the federal government is fine and acts as a security blanket. Americans love the idea of
knowing they are safe; safe physically, mentally, and financially. A man named Robert Kiyosaki
once said, When President George W. Bush attempted to reform Social Security, that proposal was
more unpopular with Americans than the Iraq War. People love their entitlements. No matter what
a person s views are about the role of the federal government, a numerous amount of people will
still be interested in collecting Social Security when they reach the age of retirement. There is much
controversy about this act, and many times people have tried to reform it but it somehow always
fell short.
Social Security (SS) is a federal program that provides a steady income for mainly elderly people
who no longer receive wages due to situations such as retirement, disability, or death. Social security

Analyzing the Film Food Inc and the Propaganda Message for...
Society tends to associate propaganda films with issues such as Nazi Germany and their film
messages for their country; however, it is also possible for small independent companies, groups
of like minded people and individuals to use the media of film to incorporate messages for our
society (The Independent, 2010). These messages are often in relation to changes that individuals
should make in order to improve the standards by which they live their lives and changes to
everyday habits that will benefit the individual, the individual s family, a group of individuals or
even a single person (Barnhisel and Turner, 2010).

Today s society is faced with a plethora of media appealing to their emotional state by advertising
the basic human need, to eat. The images that we see each and every day of our lives appear in
media such as, magazines, billboards, television, during movies, and on the internet. These
images are artfully recorded as film or photographs in such an advanced way that they tempt and
tease our senses, inviting us to purchase and eat such a wonderful product (Cyberpat.com, 2013).
Our senses are bombarded with messages constantly and are extremely sensitive to the messages
they receive. The sense of sight and sense of smell are particularly sensitive and have a special
connection with the processing of messages that affect the emotions Croy, Schirato and Webb,

consumers process information based on the concept that purchasing decision may be spur of the
moment or irrational. This model reflects the emotions of the consumer, which more than likely,
have been influenced by advertising or visual propaganda. (Clow) It is with little wonder that
advertising or mass media propaganda, are expressed utilising the senses, and in particular, the
sense of sight (Alden and Steenkamp et al., 1999).

My Own First Aid Kit
When I was young, many of the neighborhood kids and I would enjoy playing outside. Whether it
was sports, ride bikes, or roller skate, the activities we partook in always involved physical
activity and thus, a higher risk of getting hurt. When such an incident occurred, which was quite
often, we would at times not be able to do much about it since most of our parents worked. We
would rely on them for first aid but when they were gone all of us would not know how to handle
such a situation. This always bothered me so I started learning a few ways to treat minor
wounds. I began to treat any scrapes or scratches we got from falls or that resulted from any
activities we were doing at the time. I eventually purchased my own first aid kit with my savings
at the age of fourteen and would use it on my friends and even my family when needed. From a
young age, I developed an interest in providing first aid to people and became very happy when I
saw one of my friends or family members recover from minor wounds that I assisted in during the
healing process. My sense of fulfillment towards making a positive impact amongst the community
brought to light that public healthwas right for me. Public healthis a science and practice that offers

Should Soda Be Allowed
Water fountains filled with soda should not be allowed! You can be a victim of soda, don t let it

of bad tooth decay, gaining kidney stones or diabetes, or in some cases, due to overdose of sugar,
can cause you to have a heart attack and die! Soda is a very rotten thing and kids should not be

Essay On Circular Dna Throws Biologists For A Loop
Circular DNA Throws Biologists For a Loop In her article Circular DNA throws biologists for a
loop Elizabeth Pennisi of Cold Spring Harbor, New York. Examines several developments in the
case of mysterious loops known as extrachromosomal circular DNA (eccDNA). Scientists have
known about these circular DNAfor decades they were first found in the nuclei of plant cells and
later in brain cancer cells. At the time scientists speculated that these circular DNA may give brain
tumors a genetic boost by carrying extra copies of cancer related genes called oncogenes. Recently
it has become increasingly evident that these structures play a key role in the growth and
development of cancer. Thanks to an innovation in a 50 year old biophysics... Show more content on

He believes that circular DNA carries many copies of oncogenes increasing the tumors growth.
During cell division eccDNA replicates like any other cell, but unlike chromosomal DNA.
Circular DNA may not be evenly apportioned between daughter cells during cell division. As a
result, eccDNA can massively increase the number of oncogenes in some cells and if the
oncogenes give the cell a growth boost than oncogenes cells can take over the tumor cells.
Furthermore, Mischel and his colleagues have also found oncogenes outside their normal location
in circular DNA. These finding suggests that eccDNA may even transfer oncogenes back onto
linear DNA cells. Anindya Dutta, molecular biologist at the University of Virginia has suggested
that eccDNA may help cells communicate over long distances. Dutta has found that circular DNA
can be found in the circulatory system of rodents grafted with human tumor cells. Shed DNA can
then transfer gene fragments to other cells. Roel Verhaak, a cancer biologist at Jackson Laboratory
for Genomic Medicine has found evidence that supports the theory of eccDNA traveling and
contributing to cancer growth. He and his team found that 13 glioblastoma patients had eccDNA in
their tumor genes containing the cancer promoting gene MET. Therefore, the eccDNA was found
to increase tumor activity in cancer

Overfishing And Its Effects On The Environment
In today s world most people do not care about the environment. People abuse the natural resources
that we were given for their own benefit. It is estimated that 60 percent of the worlds population
lives within 60km of the coast and that each year more than 2 billion tons of carbon dioxide is
absorbed into the ocean. Almost all of the problems with the ocean are man made. Ocean heath has
deteriorated due to humans depleting fishsupplies, polluting the ocean, and a general lack of
knowledge about just how fragile the ocean is.

Over the past several decades, humans have caused the health of our ocean to decline considerably.
Along with climate change and ocean acidification, overfishing has destroyed many marine
ecosystems. In the 1990 s, one of the worlds most abundant cod populations was quickly destroyed.
The Newfoundland cod fishery had been one of the most productive cod fisheries in the world.
Fishing for cod in Newfoundland had dated back to the 16th century, when the amount of fish
seemed endless. The Canadians had traditionally fished sustainably for cod using small boats
and traditional methods such as jigging or small inshore gill nets, but in the 1950 s and 1960 s
other countries began to join in on the fishing, using larger boats and nets. England, U.S., The
Soviet Union, Spain, Portugal and Germany all joined in on the action, increasing the annual
catch from 250,000 tons to over 800,000 tons in 1968. From then on, the population slowly
began to decline. With so many being caught each year, the fish were no longer able to reproduce
as efficiently and renew their numbers to keep up with the demand. In addition to an increase in
the commercial fishing fleets, new fishing technologies were created to help catch as many fish as
possible. Larger nets that dragged along the bottom were created to catch every possible fish.
These nets were killing young fish, other marine life, and the food source for the cod, which
eventually led to the entire

Being Infected with Tuberculosis
TB is a disease that infect mostly human s lung. It can spread through air way. This can be done
through coughing or sneezing from TB patients. The bacteria travel in the air and infect healthy
people. This disease is commonly occurring in low income countries, deprived areas and big
cities in a developed country. There are some factors that contribute to TB which are
immigration, social inequalities, HIV infection and misuse of drugs or alcohol (Millet et al.,
2012). The TB incidence is increasing when the HIV infection among the population is
increasing. In Western Europe, the TB cases occur because of immigration. So, there are
different epidemiological pattern in different countries due to different factors that contribute to
it (Glaziou et al., 2013). In 2012, there roughly 13% of TB patients were HIV positive. In Africa,
estimation that there is 75% of TB cases with HIV positive (WHO, 2013). HIV will affect the
immune response, which is the cell mediated immunity that carry out by helper T cell. HIV
positive patients have lower amount of helper T cell as compared to HIV negative patients with
TB. This cell is extreme important in defending against TB. HIV infection will accelerate TB
infection and the risk of death in HIV TB co infected patients is higher (Sharma et al., 2005).
Since 1990 the mortality rate of TB is decreased by 45% and the incidence rate is also decreased in
major regions of the world. This is aid by the program Stop TB Strategy that organised by

Vacation Rentals Or Hotels
Vacation rentals or hotels, that is the question. When choosing the most suitable accommodation for
your trip, there are a few factors that come into play. For example, how much are you willing to
spend for a night? After all, the money that doesn t go into accommodation, goes into meals or
shopping.
To help you deal with this struggle, we have compiled a checklist to guide your choice in deciding
the perfect accommodation for your trip. Undecided between vacation rentals or hotels? Read on to
find out more about which to pick when you are planning your perfect holiday trip.
Costs can vary according to the size, location and length of your stay. If you are not on a tight
budget, staying at a hotel might be more enticing than spending a night at a vacation home. Unlike
a vacation rental, a hotel offers more customer oriented services such as room keeping services
and a 24 hour reception and concierge to attend to any needs you might have. Stay in a hotel and
when you are back after a long day spent exploring the city, you can be sure to return to a tidied
room and clean sheets.
If your budget is not as flexible, vacation rentals are the way to go. The biggest perk is that
instead of getting a room all to yourself, you get an entire house! This often comes complete with
a living room, a bedroom and a kitchen. It will be like you never left home, except maybe a little
bit nicer and more exciting.
More often than not, the reason why most hotels are costly is due to the fact

Resist Oppression Values
When presented with the dilemma of how should we resist oppression in the work force, there are
many relevant values discussed in the guidebook. These values include planning, level
headedness, who it effects and leadership. While these values are indeed important when
evaluating how oppression is best resisted, there is one crucial thing left to consider: the amount
of support behind the resistance. With these values in mind, we are able to resist oppression in the
work force in the most ethical manner. Initially, after recognizing the situation is in fact
oppression, planning is vital to successful resistance because if there is a plan to follow, one will
most likely have backup plans in case anything goes wrong. First, in planning my resistance,...

there is a strong following behind the resistance. Without this support, the resistance is unlikely to
succeed. When it comes down to it, resistance to oppression should be carefully thought out and
planned before acting upon any decisions because in contrast to most other ethical debates, the
ethics of resistance lies more so in the planning and the force behind it, and less in the

Analysis Of Mickey Mouse Is A Hero Of The Great Gatsby By...
Mickey Mouse is a well loved symbol of the greatness of America. He represents a long carefree
era when everything in the world has gone well for the most prosperous nation on earth. He
symbolises the prosperity of Americans throughout a period when they have dominated the world
both economically and politically.
It is significant that a creature often viewed in other countries as a pest to be eradicated can rise in
the United States of America to become a movie star and a household name. This symbolises the
American dream where everyone (including apparently rodents and quite possibly many other non
human personalities) can expect freedom of speech, freedom of actions and freedom to make an
honest living. It is important to note in this context that the rise to fame and/or riches of an
underdog has long been a popular theme in the folk lore of western countries in general but of
America in particular.
Not content to make a hero out of one rodent, the American public has also idolised Mickey s
partner Minnie. It is interesting to note that Mickey and Minnie frequently demonstrate behavior
not unlike human courtship behavior. It is also interesting to note that this happily unmarried
couple remain perpetually in this state of innocent bliss. This state seems to capture the innocence
of childhood that children do not know they have and adults reminisce about incessantly.
In addition to their role as a platonic couple Mickey and Minnie demonstrate socially acceptable

(Sahuquillo 2007). Brain injury is normally thought of in terms of primary and secondary
insults. First published in the 1970 s this remains a useful concept as it differentiates between
the unavoidable irreversible primary injury and the potentially avoidable secondary one (Adams
1977). Primary brain injury occurs immediately at the time of injury, whereas secondary injury is
a cascade of events that contributes to intracranial hypertension resulting in a reduction in
cerebral perfusion pressure and ischaemia (Marmarou 1991). The cerebral perfusion pressure
(CPP) is determined by the Monro Kellie hypothesis. In closed head injuries, the skull has a fixed
volume and the pressure within it is determined by the equilibrium between the CPP, the mean
arterial pressure (MAP) and the intracranial pressure (ICP) using the equation: CPP = MAP в€’
ICP Therefore, assuming a constant blood pressure, as ICP rises CPP must fall. Minimising the
ICP, should minimise ischaemia and brain damage resulting from localised pressure thus leading to
a global increase in perfusion and therefore oxygen delivery to the brain. There is class I evidence
that cooling to a mild hypothermic state of ≤35oC reduces intracranial hypertension by limiting
cerebral oedema. In addition it is thought that moderate hypothermia of 33oC

The Northern Renaissance And The Spirit Of The Northern...
The Northern Renaissance began in the fifthteenth century, catalyzed by the end of the Bubonic
Plague, a commercial revolution which brought economic prosperity, and the ideas brought by
Italian artists fleeing from French invaders. Northern Europeans quickly accepted Italian art, who
combined their traditions with Italian concepts to celebrate realistic portrayals in their paintings.
The surge of creativity in Flanders, the hub of the Northern Renaissance, at the time embodied the
spirit of the Renaissance, which celebrated inventiveness, as well as exploring new ideas. Jan Van
Eyck, a Flemish painter born in the late fourteenth century, lived at the beginning of the Northern
Renaissance, in which he created many famous paintings such as the Ghent Altarpiece, The
Arnolfini Portrait, and The Madonna of Chancellor Rolin. Jan Van Eyck s training in Flanders
allowed the painter to procure important court positions, in which he embodied the creative spirit of
the Renaissance by mastering the techniques of realism and intense detail within his painting The
Madonna of Chancellor Rolin, and the Eyckian technique of oil paintinginfluenced many other
painters of the time as well as modern artists.
Jan Van Eyck trained with his brother in Flanders, where he secured high courtly positions, which
allowed him the freedom to further his mastery and worldview, embodying the Renaissance spirit.

Americans during the Great Depression. White and Black Americans were segregated during that
time which resulted in hostility and hatred toward the other race. Rumours would be made about

many of different races for winning the heavyweight world championship in 1937, and
continuing to hold it until 1949. Joe Louis served as a hero for blacks in the South because he

In the South for Black Americans, Joe Louis served as a way of fighting for equality. Joe Louis
gave the Southern Blacks hope and confidence through the Great Depression as well as life. The
reason it gave many Black Americans confidence was because he let the world know that a
Black was just as good, if not better, than a white. After Joe Louis became heavyweight
champion of the world, this made some Whites angry knowing that a Black man had bested one
of their own. In I Know Why The Caged Bird Sings on page 136, Maya portrays the fear in
Southern Black Americans knowing Joe Louis had won. It would take an hour or more before
the people would leave the Store and head for home. Those who lived too far had made
arrangements to stay in town. It wouldn t do for a Black man and his family to be caught on a

the world. Maya knew the instant Joe Louis had won, that Whites were angry and wanting

Ancient Greece And Ancient Egypt Essay
Ancient Greece and Ancient Egypt were both extremely prevalent societies between the times
of 750 BCE and 450 BCE. For Greece, this includes a majority of what was considered the
Archaic Age. During this time Greece was divided into many separate cities that each had their
own distinct personality. For example, Spartans believed it was deeds, not words, that counted
and they organized their whole style of life around the demands of battle readiness. On the other
hand, you have a city like Athens that was considered the mother of democracy and consisted of
a culture focused on wisdom, freedom, and equality. During the start of this time period in Egypt,
the area falls under Kushite rule. Regardless of being under new rule, the ancient Egyptian culture
and religion persisted because the people of Kush incorporated the two cultures to strengthen the
society. In fact, rulers and elites wore Egyptian clothing, followed Egyptian burial practices, and,
most importantly, professed devotion to Egyptian gods. Both Greece and Egypt were very
impacted by their religions and are still studied to this day as mythology. Both of their religions
were based around the idea of polytheism and often their many gods would serve as an explanation
to the unknown of the world. They would often embody forces of nature and explain things like the
seasons, the rising and setting of the sun, and even naturally occurring disasters. As a result of

Advancements Of Human Development Over The Centuries
Introduction: Improving efficiency and increasing comfort has been the basis of the onward trend
of human development over the centuries. This advancement has been seen in all facets of life
including transportation, agriculture, language, technology, art etc. Since the introduction of the
word progress in the 1680 s, these advancements have all been categorized under this abstract term
(De Benoist, 2008). Many attempts have been made over the decades to make a standard
definition of progress. One area where the definition of progress becomes somewhat blurred is in
science. True scientific progress hasn t been qualitatively defined. This paper aims to show that
scientific progress can be defined as additive advancements to science through the accumulation of
true scientific beliefs that are practical and tenable.
Scientific Progress Defined: Many philosophers and researchers have attempted to define what
progress and scientific progress really is. Physicist Thomas Kuhn, in 1963, described science as an
internally driven venture which was bolstered and structured by paradigms (Kuhn Schlegel, 1963).
Douglas, addressing this definition points out that Kuhn wasn t able to describe scientific progress
across multiple paradigms. To fix this issue and to provide her own take on progress, she confronts
the distinction between pure and applied science. She explained that the key to understanding
scientific progress was understanding what science is (Douglas, 2014). Science can be

Europeans, for example, have been highly skeptical of any benefits they might gain from GM
foods. Many nations in the European Union (EU) have effectively banned imports of what they
refer to as Frankenfoods, a reference to the famous story of the fictional monster assembled by Dr.
Frankenstein from miscellaneous spare parts. The U.S claims that the EU s anti GM food policy
violates free trade laws.
Many questions remain regarding the future of GM foods. Should they continue to be sold in the
U.S., even though they may have unforeseen negative consequences? Or should the U.S. take a
cue from the EU and limit the selling of GM foods until they are unequivocally proven to be risk
free? Do the possible future health benefits of GM foods such as fruits and vegetables with extra
vitamins and vaccines built into their DNA cancel out any potential risks that the new technology

Supporters of GM foods say that since there has been no evidence of GM foods harming humans, it
is reasonable to assume that they are safe for consumption. GM food backers denounce criticism of
genetic engineering as fear mongering. Besides, they argue, no new technology is without a certain
degree of risk. GM food supporters believe that the possible health benefits of GM foods
overwhelm any possible dangers.
Supporters of biotech crops also maintain that if GM food technology is allowed to develop, it may
prove to be instrumental in eliminating world hunger.

Count Of Monte Cristo Accuracy
Historical Movie Analysis: The Count of Monte Cristo (2002)
The Count of Monte Cristo (2002) was written by Jay Wolpert and directed by Kevin Reynolds. It
was based on the novel of the same name written by Alexander Dumas and Auguste Maquet in
1844. The movie was met with moderate financial and critical success making $75.4 million
dollars off a budget of $35 million and receiving a 73% on rotten tomatoes. But statistics aside how
historically accurate and relevant is The Count of Monte Cristo? That is the question I will be
answering in this short paper but before I go over the historical accuracies and inaccuracies let
me give you a brief summery of the movie to give you a better idea of the world and time period
this movie tries to portray. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Surprisingly to me I couldn t find too many historical inaccuracies in this movie. The settings of
scenes match up well with 1800s France and all of the architecture is generally similar to French
architecture of the time period. Where I found the most inaccuracies was in the clothes that the
characters wore. Doing a little research on the fashion of the 1800s, specifically 1815 1844 when
the story takes place, I found that the style of clothes that the characters wear would be nearly half
a century old, the clothes worn in the film being more reminiscent to late 1700s fashion. Not to
mention the total negation of hats in the film which were a staple of men s fashion throughout
the 1800s. But the most glaring inaccuracy, concerning fashion of the time, are the clothes that
are worn by the Count of Monte Cristo himself, Edmond DantГЁs. In what I assume to be an
artistic design choice to make the count seem more regal or foreign, as he tries to appear as if
he s not from France, only comes off as odd and off putting for the time period. Unfortunately
since the story of The Count of Monte Cristo is a fictional story there isn t a lot more that I can
compare to real world events that took place during the time period, however I can go over some
events that the film

The Characteristics Of Military Warfare During The...
Due to the lack of better tactics, 4,435 soldiers were killed from battle wounds during the American
Revolution. The most common tactic during the American Revolution was line infantry, which was
no longer a viable tactic to use in future battles due to many deaths, and how it ultimately let the
larger army be victorious. This lead to new tactics specifically trench warfare which was first used
during the American Revolution and has now become the most used tactic in war, especially during
the world wars. There was another form of fighting called guerrilla warfarewhich was important for
the colonists to defeat the British because they knew the area much better than the British and
could get the upper hand. These military tactics used by the colonists in the American Revolution
laid down the foundation for advancement in tactical warfare. Line infantry helped at the time
due to the weapons used then, but in modern combat, the tactic has become obsolete. During the
American Revolution, weapons were not reliable or advanced enough to be used in quick
combat where targets could be moving. The first firearm to be used in the American Revolution
was the Brown Bess musket and weighed around 10.5 pounds, and was most effective within 50
yards, but could be used by a skilled musketeer up to 175 yards. It took a long amount of time for
the musketeer to reload the weapon if once it was fired. A rifleman could shoot up to 2 5 rounds per
minute, leaving them vulnerable to rush attacks.

Theme Of Fire In The Road
Light. Warmth. Danger. Destruction. Divinity. Survival. Love. Hope. In McCarthy s The Road,
fire is a symbol of many things and not only those mentioned. Throughout the novel we are told
that the father and the son are the good guys because they are carrying the fire (pp. 87, 136 ). It
is mainly the son the one who has the fire inside him, but we do not really realize what it makes
reference to. Nonetheless, in this paper I will try to give a broad compilation of the symbols that
we can attach to this element within Cormac McCarthys novel, The Road. Fire might be a double
edged sword. To begin with, it is fire which has brought the world to that situation, for everything
around the father and the son is completely burnt and they are making their way through ashes.
Here we see fire as an unpredictable and destructive force. However,... Show more content on

I agree with Rambo when she states that We re carrying the fire is a statement of mission. [...]
the father has given their journey purpose (2008:104). They have to keep on walking south
because someone is waiting for them, waiting for the fire they are carrying. At the end of the
novel, when the father is about to die, he says to his son that he cannot stay with him because he
has to carry the fire he has inside him (298) that is his mission; he is the most necessary element
in a world where necessity is all around. Therefore this makes me question whether carrying the
fire is only an illusion the father has created, an excuse to keep on walking and forgetting what
they are leaving behind. As we are going to see next, the boy is the man s last hope. The man is
only living in order to save his son s life and if the man dies, nothing will remain for the boy to
continue fighting, thus the man has to give him a purpose, a mission to keep on carrying the fire.
What would become of us if we did not provide our lives with a goal, with a reason to carry

  • 2. Computerized Physician Order Entry Systems Computerized Physician Order Entry systems or CPOE was introduce to the healthcare field to aid in the reduction of medical errors. The goal of an CPOE system is to reduce healthcare cost by reducing the number of errors, increasing medication safety. With every new product there will always be some unexpected problems that may surface. In regards to CPOE those unexpected problems are referred to as Unintended Adverse Consequences or UAC. In Survivor, the players are constantly under a great amount of stress. The different types of stress can have a huge impact on how they end up playing the game. For example, physical stressors, such as food deprivation, also alter psychological factors such as motivation and irritability, and can increase impulsive and aggressive behavior (Gerrig 75). In other words, the toll of physical stress can lead to more aggressive and more impulsive players as well as affecting the players moods. Throughout every episode there is some form of aggression. Wilson found four different types of aggression and labelled them as, theft, verbal aggression, minor aggression, and deceit (9). He defines each type of aggression, saying, Theft was defined as taking the property of another person without the owner s consent or knowledge (e.g., robbery, burglary, and larceny). Verbal aggression was any nonphysical act that places another under duress with the intention to pressure, constrain, or persuade in a noxious manner (e.g., extortion, coercion, threats, abridgment of privacy, and harassment). It wasn t fair! (298). Her husband did not receive an honest treatment according to Tessie, which will eventually lead to her downfall. Now that she is the victim, there is a significant change in attitude towards the town and its tradition. She is no longer a good natured woman who finds the lottery on great joke, instead, she stands up to this old tradition and is more nervous and aggressive than ever before in the story. This is the complete opposite of what we first saw of Tessie, a simple woman concerned more with her dishes than the lottery. The character of Tessie, in the end of the story, is fully aware of the consequences of this same lottery and she protests against the tradition which is so deeply rooted in her society. As a result, when Zeitoun is about to enter Camp Greyhound and questions a passing soldier why he and his friends have been arrested, the soldier replies, You guys are Al Qaeda (212), concurring with the MSSTs purpose of apprehending potential members of major terrorist groups. Obviously, this is not a rational reason for an arrest, as the men have done nothing illegal. Eggers uses this appeal to authority (through the quote of a soldier actively participating in the situation) to underline just how much more of a role race and religion play in Hurricane Katrina s law enforcement than actual criminal behavior. Zeitoun s only crime is being Arab and believing in Allah in a time when Islamophobia is rampant, reasons that do not justify the mistreatment he suffers during the next couple of weeks as a supposed terrorist. Therefore, through the inclusion of credible evidence and quotes, Eggers successfully harnesses logos to affirm the unmerited racial and religious injustices that Zeitoun faces during and after his arrest, simply because he is a Middle Eastern, Muslim man. Besides logical appeal, Eggers also uses stark juxtaposition in his writing, in order to draw attention to the injustices that the Zeitoun family faces. To depict their life before Hurricane ... Tensions were high as the North attempted to restore order and bring the southern states back into the fold. During the presidential election of 1876, federal troops actively patrolled and monitored polling sites throughout the South and many thought that their presence intimated Southern voters and swayed the election (Spak et al., 2004). The Practices and Processes Shaping Racism in British Society The Practices and Processes Shaping Racism in British Society The concept of racism is a relatively modern term that made its appearance in the 18th century. The practices and processes that have helped shape racism in British society today must be looked at as a series of ideologies, that have been built into British institutions and organisations as a consequence of the historical contexts of colonialism and imperialism. However, ideas of race and differences between races are rooted even earlier than this, even as far back in history as the 16th century. This growth of trade during the 16th and 17th century, brought about the establishment of the Colonial Board in 1661, its objective was to decide how best to populate and work the colonies of the new world. The political aspect of this was the increasing concern that emigration of white workers to the colonies would eventually leave a shortage of cheap labour at home. The Royal Family gave its patronage to the African slave trade in 1680 by the formation of the Royal African Company (Ramdin 1987). This move could be argued to be seen as giving legitimacy to the belief that the Africans where more suited to labour than the white peoples, it could be argued that it is here that we see the first signs of racism emerging in British society. This includes malware types, life cycle of a malware, malware analysis and detection, strategies for malware detection as well as machine learning and its types. MALWARE Malware has been given different names and definitions. The word Malware is used to describe any form of malicious code also called malcode, malicious software or programs. One common definition of malware is the definition by McGraw and Morrisett (2000), that defines a malware as any code added, changed, or removed from a software system in order to intentionally cause harm or subvert the intended function of the system. Vasudevan Yerraballi (2006) also describe malware as a generic term that encompasses viruses, trojans, spywares and other intrusive code. According to Christodorescu et al. (2005) any program that has a malevolent objective is a malware. Malware are generally created to compromise the confidentiality, integrity, or availability of the data/information in a computer system or network. MALWARE TYPES One way of ensuring that the process of analysing malware is as fast as possible is by making informed hypotheses about the malware and its function. These hypotheses can then be tested. Since it is evident that better hypotheses can be made upon knowing what the malware does, some of the categories in which most malware fall into as explained by Sikorski Honig (2012) are ... The question is whether infants are pre programmed with an initial concept of the world. Many experiments conducted supported the idea that a new born infant holds an understanding of the world. • 22. My Own First Aid Kit When I was young, many of the neighborhood kids and I would enjoy playing outside. Whether it was sports, ride bikes, or roller skate, the activities we partook in always involved physical activity and thus, a higher risk of getting hurt. When such an incident occurred, which was quite often, we would at times not be able to do much about it since most of our parents worked. We would rely on them for first aid but when they were gone all of us would not know how to handle such a situation. This always bothered me so I started learning a few ways to treat minor wounds. I began to treat any scrapes or scratches we got from falls or that resulted from any activities we were doing at the time. I eventually purchased my own first aid kit with my savings at the age of fourteen and would use it on my friends and even my family when needed. From a young age, I developed an interest in providing first aid to people and became very happy when I saw one of my friends or family members recover from minor wounds that I assisted in during the healing process. My sense of fulfillment towards making a positive impact amongst the community brought to light that public healthwas right for me. Essay On Circular Dna Throws Biologists For A Loop Circular DNA Throws Biologists For a Loop In her article Circular DNA throws biologists for a loop Elizabeth Pennisi of Cold Spring Harbor, New York. Examines several developments in the case of mysterious loops known as extrachromosomal circular DNA (eccDNA). Scientists have known about these circular DNAfor decades they were first found in the nuclei of plant cells and later in brain cancer cells. At the time scientists speculated that these circular DNA may give brain tumors a genetic boost by carrying extra copies of cancer related genes called oncogenes. Recently it has become increasingly evident that these structures play a key role in the growth and development of cancer. Thanks to an innovation in a 50 year old biophysics... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He believes that circular DNA carries many copies of oncogenes increasing the tumors growth. During cell division eccDNA replicates like any other cell, but unlike chromosomal DNA. Circular DNA may not be evenly apportioned between daughter cells during cell division. As a result, eccDNA can massively increase the number of oncogenes in some cells and if the oncogenes give the cell a growth boost than oncogenes cells can take over the tumor cells. Furthermore, Mischel and his colleagues have also found oncogenes outside their normal location in circular DNA. These finding suggests that eccDNA may even transfer oncogenes back onto linear DNA cells. Anindya Dutta, molecular biologist at the University of Virginia has suggested that eccDNA may help cells communicate over long distances. Dutta has found that circular DNA can be found in the circulatory system of rodents grafted with human tumor cells. Shed DNA can then transfer gene fragments to other cells. Roel Verhaak, a cancer biologist at Jackson Laboratory for Genomic Medicine has found evidence that supports the theory of eccDNA traveling and contributing to cancer growth. He and his team found that 13 glioblastoma patients had eccDNA in their tumor genes containing the cancer promoting gene MET. Therefore, the eccDNA was found to increase tumor activity in cancer ... In the 1990 s, one of the worlds most abundant cod populations was quickly destroyed. The Newfoundland cod fishery had been one of the most productive cod fisheries in the world. Fishing for cod in Newfoundland had dated back to the 16th century, when the amount of fish seemed endless. The Canadians had traditionally fished sustainably for cod using small boats and traditional methods such as jigging or small inshore gill nets, but in the 1950 s and 1960 s other countries began to join in on the fishing, using larger boats and nets. England, U.S., The Soviet Union, Spain, Portugal and Germany all joined in on the action, increasing the annual catch from 250,000 tons to over 800,000 tons in 1968. From then on, the population slowly began to decline. With so many being caught each year, the fish were no longer able to reproduce as efficiently and renew their numbers to keep up with the demand. In addition to an increase in the commercial fishing fleets, new fishing technologies were created to help catch as many fish as possible. Larger nets that dragged along the bottom were created to catch every possible fish. These nets were killing young fish, other marine life, and the food source for the cod, which eventually led to the entire ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The bacteria travel in the air and infect healthy people. This disease is commonly occurring in low income countries, deprived areas and big cities in a developed country. There are some factors that contribute to TB which are immigration, social inequalities, HIV infection and misuse of drugs or alcohol (Millet et al., 2012). The TB incidence is increasing when the HIV infection among the population is increasing. In Western Europe, the TB cases occur because of immigration. So, there are different epidemiological pattern in different countries due to different factors that contribute to it (Glaziou et al., 2013). He represents a long carefree era when everything in the world has gone well for the most prosperous nation on earth. He symbolises the prosperity of Americans throughout a period when they have dominated the world both economically and politically. It is significant that a creature often viewed in other countries as a pest to be eradicated can rise in the United States of America to become a movie star and a household name. This symbolises the American dream where everyone (including apparently rodents and quite possibly many other non human personalities) can expect freedom of speech, freedom of actions and freedom to make an honest living. It is important to note in this context that the rise to fame and/or riches of an underdog has long been a popular theme in the folk lore of western countries in general but of America in particular. Not content to make a hero out of one rodent, the American public has also idolised Mickey s partner Minnie. It is interesting to note that Mickey and Minnie frequently demonstrate behavior not unlike human courtship behavior. First published in the 1970 s this remains a useful concept as it differentiates between the unavoidable irreversible primary injury and the potentially avoidable secondary one (Adams 1977). Primary brain injury occurs immediately at the time of injury, whereas secondary injury is a cascade of events that contributes to intracranial hypertension resulting in a reduction in cerebral perfusion pressure and ischaemia (Marmarou 1991). The cerebral perfusion pressure (CPP) is determined by the Monro Kellie hypothesis. In closed head injuries, the skull has a fixed volume and the pressure within it is determined by the equilibrium between the CPP, the mean arterial pressure (MAP) and the intracranial pressure (ICP) using the equation: CPP = MAP в€’ ICP Therefore, assuming a constant blood pressure, as ICP rises CPP must fall. Minimising the ICP, should minimise ischaemia and brain damage resulting from localised pressure thus leading to a global increase in perfusion and therefore oxygen delivery to the brain. There is class I evidence that cooling to a mild hypothermic state of ≤35oC reduces intracranial hypertension by limiting cerebral oedema. The Northern Renaissance began in the fifthteenth century, catalyzed by the end of the Bubonic Plague, a commercial revolution which brought economic prosperity, and the ideas brought by Italian artists fleeing from French invaders. For Greece, this includes a majority of what was considered the Archaic Age. During this time Greece was divided into many separate cities that each had their own distinct personality. For example, Spartans believed it was deeds, not words, that counted and they organized their whole style of life around the demands of battle readiness. On the other hand, you have a city like Athens that was considered the mother of democracy and consisted of a culture focused on wisdom, freedom, and equality. During the start of this time period in Egypt, the area falls under Kushite rule. This advancement has been seen in all facets of life including transportation, agriculture, language, technology, art etc. Since the introduction of the word progress in the 1680 s, these advancements have all been categorized under this abstract term (De Benoist, 2008). Many attempts have been made over the decades to make a standard definition of progress. One area where the definition of progress becomes somewhat blurred is in science. True scientific progress hasn t been qualitatively defined. This paper aims to show that scientific progress can be defined as additive advancements to science through the accumulation of true scientific beliefs that are practical and tenable. Scientific Progress Defined: Many philosophers and researchers have attempted to define what progress and scientific progress really is. Physicist Thomas Kuhn, in 1963, described science as an internally driven venture which was bolstered and structured by paradigms (Kuhn Schlegel, 1963). Douglas, addressing this definition points out that Kuhn wasn t able to describe scientific progress across multiple paradigms. To fix this issue and to provide her own take on progress, she confronts the distinction between pure and applied science. Doing a little research on the fashion of the 1800s, specifically 1815 1844 when the story takes place, I found that the style of clothes that the characters wear would be nearly half a century old, the clothes worn in the film being more reminiscent to late 1700s fashion. The most common tactic during the American Revolution was line infantry, which was no longer a viable tactic to use in future battles due to many deaths, and how it ultimately let the larger army be victorious. This lead to new tactics specifically trench warfare which was first used during the American Revolution and has now become the most used tactic in war, especially during the world wars. There was another form of fighting called guerrilla warfarewhich was important for the colonists to defeat the British because they knew the area much better than the British and could get the upper hand. These military tactics used by the colonists in the American Revolution laid down the foundation for advancement in tactical warfare. Line infantry helped at the time due to the weapons used then, but in modern combat, the tactic has become obsolete. During the American Revolution, weapons were not reliable or advanced enough to be used in quick combat where targets could be moving. The first firearm to be used in the American Revolution was the Brown Bess musket and weighed around 10.5 pounds, and was most effective within 50 yards, but could be used by a skilled musketeer up to 175 yards.
