Iodoform Test Lab Report
The identification and characterization of the structures of unknown substances are an important
part of Organic Chemistry. In this experiment a sample of an unknown aldehyde or ketone was
obtained. From this sample two solid derivatives were prepared. Their melting points were obtained
and compared to those listed in the Table of AldehydeKetoneDerivatives. From this the unknown
sample was identified. As additional aid a Benedict s test and Iodoform test were used. These are
functional group tests used for distinguishing between aldehydes, ketones and methyl ketones. A
Benedict s test tests positive for aliphatic aldehydes and negative for aromatic aldehydes and
ketones. An Iodoform test tests positive for methyl ketones and acetaldehyde... Show more content

This was accomplished through functional group tests, preparation of two solid derivatives and
determining their melting points and making careful observations. The unknown sample was
determined to be cinnamaldehyde due to the odor it produced when the various tests were
performed. Even though the melting points obtained from the Dinitrophenylhydrazone and
Semicarbazone derivatives were not close to the melting points of cinnamaldehyde (255в„ѓ and
215в„ѓ respectively) the odor gave a clue to the unknown compound. The melting point differences
could have been due to human error handling the glassware and following the lab manual
instructions.

Differences And Similarities Between Snowball And Leon...
Snowball and Leon Trotsky were both intellectuals that helped in not only social ideals but also as
military strategists. During the Battle of the Cowshed, Snowball was the mastermind behind the
organized attack which led the animals to victory. Similarly, Trotsky proved to be an outstanding
military leader, as he led the army of 3 million to victory (Biography.com). Another resemblance
between Trotsky and Snowball is that they are eventually exiled by the government. When the
government felt threatened by such intellectuals such as Snowball and Trotsky they exile them in
order to assure their own power. Snowball is exiled after he proposes the plan to build a windmill
by Napoleon while Trotsky was banished entirely from the Soviet Union

Theme Of Death In Chronicle Of A Death Foretold
In Gabriel GarcГa MГЎrquez s novella Chronicle of a Death Foretold, Santiago Nasar is ruthlessly
murdered by the Vicario brothers Pedro and Pablo Vicario in a remote Colombian town. Although
the Vicario brothers are responsible for the murder, i.e. the actual killing of Santiago, the behind the
scene culture, in particular the town s beliefs, ideals and expectations, should be blamed for
Santiago s death. Aspects of the town s culture, including the sanctity of pre marital virginity and
honor, drive the characters to perform the murderof Santiago. The town s cultural highlight on pre
marital virginity is one major factor accountable for Santiago s death. Angela Vicario s decision to

Since the brothers were brought up to be men, they needed to take action in order to regain their
sister and family s honor (30). Honor was idolized in the town to the point that the act of killing
Santiago can be forgiven, or even rewarded. The town s ideal of honor closely relates to heroic,
masculine theme like going on an epic quest. For instance, Pablo Vicario s wife Prudencia Cotes
never would have married [Pablo] if he hadn t done what a man should do (63). In other words,
Pablo is the hero who goes on a grand journey to slay the monster Santiago. After slaying Santiago,
he proves himself as a man, gains his honor, and is rewarded with a bride, who would not have
married him otherwise. Prudencia s decision to marry Pablo amplify the hidden cultural expectation
for a man to uphold the honor of the family, even if upholding the honor means sacrificing someone
else s life. Throughout the novella, the Vicario brothers actions suggest that their decision of killing
Santiago is against their will. They made their plan rather obvious for the townspeople to find out.
As a matter of fact, they advertised their plan to the entire town because that the only reason they
had said it was for someone to hear them (51). This act of disseminating their plot hints to their
hesitation and doubtfulness of committing the actual

Theories Of Progressive Education
Progressive Learning Theory in the US
Sarah Cooper Rashaell Keating
John Dewey s Progressive Learning Theory is defined as any various reformist educational
philosophies and methodologies since the late 1800s, applied especially to elementary schools, that
reject the rote recitation and strict discipline of traditional, single classroom teaching, favoring
instead more stimulation of the individual pupil as well as group discussion, more informality in
the classroom, a broader curriculum, and use of laboratories, gymnasiums, etc. in the school. It is
essentially an umbrella theory for many theories that have contributed to what is known as,
Progressive Education.
Key Influences Friedrich Wilhelm August Fröbel (1782 1852) was a German pedagogue and
educator who first coined the term kindergarten in 1840. His main contribution was realizing the
importance of activity of the child, such as free work and games, in learning and that each child
learns differently and has different capabilities. He was a student of Johann Heinrich Pestalozzi
(1746 1827) who felt that individuals best learned through experiences and through a direct
manipulation and experience of objects and children were intrinsically motivated.
Johann Friedrich Herbart (1776 1841) was a German philosopher, psychologist and founder of
pedagogy as an academic discipline. According to Herbart, abilities were not innate but could be
instilled, so a thorough education could provide the framework for moral and

Facebook Case Analysis
Facebook (FB) has been dominating the social network industry since its birth in 2004. It was one
of the first social platforms that aimed to connect people all over the world together. FB has been
successful in establishing its competitive advantage relying in its network effect and its ability to
catch up with the competition.
As depicted on Figure II, FB has strength points that include: its long history and its access to
global markets over a short period of time, that enabled it to lock in a wide base of users that find
it too costly to switch to other networks that don t provide a strong motivation for switching
especially that FB has a strong ability for imitation and integration that led to a growing advertising
revenue from different advertisers that find FB to be a great source of data that they can use for
segmentation and targeting. FB weakness points are: its high dependency on advertising revenue,
its high dependency on games applications revenue and concentration of ownership in the hands
of its founder, Mr. Zuckerberg, that seems to be so innovative and successful. However, it is a
reason why long term investors may worry because there is no guarantee of the continuous of the
long term success given a single control over a public company. On the external trend, FB has an
opportunity to increase its base of mobile users due to the increase of people logging in on the go
in comparison to computer users. FB has an opportunity to expand using social commerce by

Intaking Marijuana for Medical Purposes Should be Legal for the Sick and Ill in California
Marijuana has been achieving euphoria for humans since ancient times; the use spread from China
to India and then to North Africa and Europe as early as A.D. 500. Cannabisis said to contain over
400 different chemicals, the main ingredient that impinge the mind is THC. The higher the measure
of THC in the hemp plant determines a higher strength of the drug. More and more states are
passing laws that allow people to use medical marijuana, and I believe California should be next.
So what does it treat, and who can and should use it? Pain is the main reason people ask for a

A new era of Cryptography: Quantum Cryptography
Sandeepak Bhandari
Abstract:
Security is the first priority in today digital world for secure communication between sender and
receiver. Various Cryptography techniques are developed time to time for secure communication.
Quantum Cryptography is one of the latest and advanced cryptography technique, it is different
from all other cryptography technique and more secure. It based on the Quantum of physics since
its name which make it more secure from all other cryptography and UN breakable. In this paper
about quantum cryptography i.e working, limitation and advantages discussed.
Keywords:
Photon, Polarization filter, Advantage and Limitation of Quantum Cryptography.
Introduction:
ID Quantique presents a quantum cryptography framework; will take after by the Magic
innovations. These frameworks use photons to send mystery encryption keys, concealing every key
behind the most well known tent of quantum mechanics, the Heisenberg vulnerability rule. This
standard says, that it is difficult to know both an article s position and speed in the meantime. Any
email message, phone call or money related encoded with these keys will be protected.
Quantum cryptography utilizes current learning of material science to build up a cryptosystem that
is not ready to be vanquished that is, one that is totally secure against being traded off without
information of the sender or the beneficiary of the messages. Quantum alludes to the

Freud Ego And Super Ego
Freud was an Austrian neurologist and founder of psychoanalysis; he was born on 6th May
1856 and died 23rd September 1939 in London. Freud developed psychoanalysis which looked
into dreams, fantasies and someone s free association. The psychodynamic approach looks into
the unconscious (unware) and how this effects behavior and the conscious (aware) and the
relation between them in our mind (psyche). Freud s theories about child sexuality, ego s and
what makes us tick were most influential in the 20th century. Psychodynamic approach bases its
theory on three unconscious structures known as Id, ego and super ego. Id is the impulsive part
of the structure, following basic animal instincts of indulgence. If the psyche has a strong id,
the person would have no regard for other people, would be confrontational, would be driven by
sexual impulses and would not fit in well with society. The super ego is the opposite of id, it is
the conscience stating the right and wrong and repressive of any confrontation. If someone has a
strong super ego it is likely that they would be very withdrawn and anxious with no confidence.
Ego is the part of the psyche that adapts to the environment; it judges what is acceptable in certain
social situations and control the id and the super ego for a healthy balance. Freud states that these
structures of the psyche are developed in early childhood years and the ego continues to develop
as we grow older. Due to the early development stages Freud assumes

Earlobe Allele Frequency Lab Report
Earlobe Allele Frequency in General and Asian Populations
Laura Kathryn Browne
Georgia Perimeter College Introduction: The purpose of this experiment is to observe the
frequency of attached versus detached earlobes to better understand the presentation of traits in
humans in general and in certain populations to determine if individuals of particular ethnicity are
more likely to present with one phenotype of the other. It is understood that attached earlobes are
the dominant phenotype and detached earlobes are the recessive phenotype, however there is some
controversy regarding this distinction, as suggested by McDonald (2011), who points out that
CarriГЁre and Hilden were among the first to study the genetics of earlobes, and they reached
opposite conclusions . The purpose is this experiment is to revisit this topic and determine whether
there is a moderately clear dominant and recessive genotype in human earlobes.
Hypothesis: The hypothesis of this experiment is that attached earlobes are more common in
individuals of Asian descent than in the general population.
Methods:
The demonstration was conducted at a busy 24 hour Starbucks in downtown Ann Arbor, Michigan
in the evening from 7pm to 10pm. The number of individuals in each group, Detached vs. Attached,

Many of the individuals in these random samples were young college students, but trials should
be repeated in locations with different demographics. There is some margin for error when
determining if an individual belongs to the Attached or Detached phenotype; sometimes, an
individual seems to have unclearly attached or detached earlobes. It should also be considered
that elderly people are more likely to appear to have detached earlobes, even if they do not have a
dominant allele. There is a potential for gravity to pull an attached earlobe down over time due to
gravity, thus skewing

Mommy Film Techniques
In the years following his impressive film debut for I Killed My Mother (09) at the age of only
nineteen, Xavier Dolan (French Canadian actor, director, screenwriter, editor, costume designer and
producer) has withheld his space in the limelight. Between Heartbeats, Laurence Anyways, and Tom
at the Farm, Dolan, now 27, returned to the big screen again with the release of Mommy in 2014.
Tragic yet luminous, Mommy is a film of astounding violence and grief punctuated by bursts of
unmitigated glee. Diane Die DesprГ©s (Anne Dorval), a widowed, tattooed, and freshly fired

No one before Canadian writer director Dolan has ever tried a 1:1 a risk considering the vast
majority of modern films are screened in a 1.85:1 or 2.35:1 aspect ratio. Despite the time it takes
to get used to the restrained perspective, it works beautifully in both an aesthetic and metaphoric
manner. The bold visual trick mixed with tight shot sizes allow every moment to be emotionally
sincere; the audience can avoid distractions to the left and right of the frame and look the
characters right in the eye. Even in the most calm of scenes, if there are three characters on screen,
the sequence becomes that much more powerful. The ratio forces the audience to sit front row in
the suffocating unhealthiness and, like Steve s mind, offers them no escape save for two fleeting
moments when the frame expands to a standard aspect ratio. These moments, being the two most
hopeful in the film, really do help to express the feelings of freedom that the characters experience
before being but back into their cages the perfect square perspective becoming more ironic than

Through The Drinking Glass Analysis
This essay is an exploration of the topic of alcohol, especially as it relates to college campuses. In
order to gain insight into this topic I will be summarizing and examine three different essays.
These are Through the Drinking Glass by Andy Soon Leong Tan, The Neurocognitive Effects of
Alcohol on Adolescents and College Students by Donald Zeigler et. al, and Alcohol and Sexual
Assault by Antonia Abbey et. al. To examine the topic properly I should start with my own
understanding of the topic; I understand that drinking is a part of the college experience and that
it is pervasive on campus. When I came to college I already had the idea that college would have a
mass drinking culture. My time living in the dorms my freshman year... Show more content on

One fact that the authors point out is that youths are beginning to drink at lower ages and with
more frequency. The statistics range from 47 percent of high school students drinking heavily to
10 million, 28 percent of children that age, reporting alcohol use in the last thirty days. College
students reflect those same statistics. Concern is raised about how alcohol use patterns developed
in the teen years is not an issue that time resoles. The article then bridges into alcohol s effects on
teens. The absorption of alcohol under normal circumstances is first explained, with there being a
set amount of alcohol being removed each hour and if that amount is exceeded alcohol will
continue building up in the blood. Alcohol has numerous effects on the body it can impair the brain
s ability to learn and remember events, and reduce a person s motor controls, also alcohol releases
the happiness hormones, endorphin and dopamine, encouraging continued alcohol use. Using large
amounts of alcohol can poison the brain over time which is a large issue during this important time
of brain development. Unfortunately, due to their smaller bodies and non tolerance alcohol effects
teenagers more than it does adults, this leads increases the risk of Alcohol Poisoning and means
teens become drunker faster. Drinking large amounts of alcohol

In An Enquiry Concerning Human Understanding by David...
In An Enquiry Concerning Human Understanding by David Hume, the idea of miracles is
introduced. Hume s argument is that there is no rational reason for human beings to believe in
miracles, and that it is wrong to have miracles as the building blocks for religion. It is because the
general notion of miracles come from the statement of others who claim to have seen them, Hume
believes that there is no way to prove that those accounts are accurate, because they were not
experienced first hand. In order to believe a miracle, the evidence should be concrete, and
something irrefutable. When there is any sort of doubt to a miracle, Hume says that any evidence
that can be contrary to the proof of a miracle is merely evidence that the miracle did... Show more

In essence, any miracle that a Christian believes as fact, is something that a Muslim person would
consider hearsay, and vice versa. There is a constant battle between religions to disprove the other s
miracles, and Hume believes that none of these miracles occurred.
To Hume, it is never rational to believe in a miracle, as it is a violation of the laws of nature. For
a miracle to be believable, it must be based on testimony, and have a focus on something that can
be proven. This testimony must have evidence to justify that the miracle is in fact based on a
law of nature. For Hume, if a miracle is to be rationally accepted, the evidence to support it must
be balanced for the evidence in the natural world. Even if there is a conflicting piece of evidence
for the miracle, the conclusion must indicate that said miracle is a probable occurrence. With
that probable evidence must come absolute proof that the person who experienced the miracle
was in his or her right state of mind, was never diagnosed with a mental illness, and is a person
who can be trusted to give factual suggestions. Essentially, a miracle is possible because it is
conceivable, but in reality, there is no evidence to prove it. To properly establish his position on
miracles, Hume writes:
no testimony is sufficient to establish a miracle, unless the testimony be of such a kind, that its
falsehood would be more miraculous, than the fact, which it endeavours to establish

Finishing Hardwood Floors
Hardwood floor can be finished using high power sanding machines, although some handwork
may be necessary in places that on which a sanding machine will not fit, or near corners. Before
starting the finishing process, the hardwood surface should be free of dirt and all nails must be
carefully driven so they are not protruding in the floor or the baseboard. Depending on the
hardwood flooringsurface, sometimes with two sanding cuts, you will get a nice finish whatsoever,
if the floor is uneven, then three sanding cuts will be needed.
Hardwood Flooring Sanding Machines
There are two main types of sanding machines: drum or disk type. Drum sanders have the sandpaper
mounted on a drum that rotates parallel to the plane of the floor, scratching in straight lines in the
direction of the sanding machine. On the other hand, disk sanders are the ones in which the
sandpaper rotates in a circle in the plane of the floor. There are different tools that will facilitate
sanding hardwood floor near the edges of the floor and next to the baseboard.
Choosing the right sandpaper is a very important thing to do, because coarse grits will scratch the
hardwood leaving some marks that will be noticeable. Fine grits are better when you want to have
the best finishing on a hardwood flooring, although it will require additional work. For better
results, start by using the coarse sandpaper, to level the floor and continue to polish the surface
using finer sandpaper.

Agricultural Climate Impact Assessment For Wheat Industry
Agricultural Climate Impact Assessment for Wheat Industry in Western Australia
Sonam Gyeltshen
Student ID: 551839
Rationale
Wheat is an important cereal crop of Western Australia with about 7 MT of production in a rain
fed system across 4 Million hectares of land, and accounting for about 70% of total cereal
production. However, it is believed that wheat production is affected by changes in climatic
variables of rainfall, temperature, and other extreme weather events. Therefore, the assessment of
impact of climate change is essential generally to understand the overall risk of climate change to
bio physical and socio economic systems, but specifically to understand the impact of climate
change on wheat production, and eventually develop proper adaptation and mitigation strategies.
Introduction
Climate impact assessment is an important exercise in order to systematically understand the risk of
climate change to bio physical and socio economic systems and thereby to develop proper and
timely adaptation and mitigation strategies. Similarly, IPCC defines Climate impact assessment as
an assessment of climate change impacts on an inclusive, unbiased, open and apparent basis the
scientific, technical, and socio economic relevant to understanding the risk of human induced
climate change, its potential impacts, and options for adaptation and mitigation (Kerr, Siddique,
Delane, 1992).
Various methods of assessing the climate change impacts have been deployed since the

How Do Church Buildings Have Changed Over Time
The church structures have changed drastically over time. In the beginning of the Church History,
places of worship were simple stone buildings, with the primary focus being on praising God and
having a place to hold the sacraments. Monasteries were a common worship center as well. The
simple designs have been revamped. By the time of the Renaissance, churches were created to be
magnificent places for prayer and to give thanks to God. Since then, churchstructures have only
progressed in design. These designs can vary dramatically depending on the location of the church.
However, all churches share some of the same building and design techniques. Stain glass
windows, for example, are some of the most beautiful features found in many churches today.
Valuable features like these create the elegance of these buildings. Some of the most elaborate

The Lives Of Lee Boyd Malvo And John Allen Muhammad
D.C. Snipers
Randall Pace
Wiregrass Technical College
Abstract
The purpose of this research paper is to examine the lives of Lee Boyd Malvo and John Allen
Muhammad. They are known as the D.C. Snipers who initiated a killing spree that lasted over 20
days and resulted in 10 deaths and 3 injuries. This paper gives insight into the manipulation and
control of John Allen Muhammad over Lee Boyd Malvo who was child during this reign of terror.
Information is given to aid in understanding the contributing factors that led to innocent lives taken
from society, the loss innocence of a minor, and the molding and shaping of a cold blooded killer.
D.C. Snipers Children are the most precious human beings on the Earth. They represent such a
pure and innocence of mankind. They are to be loved, nurtured, molded, and trained by their
parents to be law abiding citizens and good moral and responsible adults. However, what
happens when this does not happen? When innocence is turned into evil, what is the result?
When children are not exposed to model parents and influenced by others who do not have their
best interest in mind, society gains troubled children who have the potential to become
dangerous and unstable. This is the case of the making of Lee Boyd Malvo: The D.C. Sniper.
Lee Boyd Malvo was a child in 2002 when terror struck and our nation was in fear (Albarus,
2012). Lee was manipulated and brainwashed by an adult figure in his life named John Allen

The Pros And Cons Of Bankruptcy
Premise of enacting the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code, 2016
The Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code, 2016 came into force in August 2016. It is believed that
the acid test for the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code 2016 would come when the case involving
Kolkata based Nico Industries is adjudicated. The adjudication process signals whether a sick
company can be shut down within 180 days of the case being registered. While more than 1000
applications have been filed, 100 of them have been admitted by the arbiter in the National
Company Law Tribunal or NCLT that is expected to decide the fate of these non financial firms
within 180 days. That aside, one begs to examine the nitty gritties of the Code itself.
What is Bankruptcy?
Firstly, we must define as to what bankruptcy is? Bankruptcy is a legal status imposed by a firm
or individual unable to meet obligations. Before the passing of the Bankruptcy Code, the legal
framework in India with regard to this sphere suffered from a lack of clarity and certainty in
jurisdictions. Decisions were often appealed, overstayed or overturned by judicial forums with
concurrent jurisdictions. This has led to unnecessary delays often leading to misuse of this
shortcoming by debtors. Therefore in this regard, the need for a new legislation was recognised.
There were many reasons for this;

What Is The Objective Function Of Svtm
. Support Vector Machines: SVM is a state of the art machine learning algorithm which is used in
text analysis. They are universal learners. They exist is various forms linear and non linear. It
uses function called kernel. They are not dependent on the dimensionality of feature space.
Using an appropriate kernel, SVM can be used to learn polynomial classifiers, radial basic
function(RBF) [35]. The goal of SVM is to find the large margin hyperplane that divides two
classes. Equation of hyperplane is wT.x+b where class is yПµ{1, 1} depending on features space
is x. If the data is linearly separable, the optimal hyperplane maximizes the margin between the
positive and negative classes of the training dataset. This line splits the data into... Show more

There are several benefits of SVM High Dimension Input space Since the classifier does not
depend on number of features, SVM can handle high dimension space [35]. More importantly, in
sentiment analysis, many features are available. Document Vector Space Text categorization is
linearly separable [34]. Most document contain few non zero elements. SVM classifiers worked
the best in majority of papers. In this project, SVM classifier with linear kernel is used. 3.3.3
Rule Based: This technique was one of the first few methods used for text classification. Human
created logical rules are applied to categorize the text [39]. Most sentiment analysis use Machine
Learning techniques. Rule based method can detect sentiment polarity. The issue with Rule Based
methods is, it is difficult to update and the rules and the rules may not be able to cover every
scenario [37]. A rule consists of antecedent and its consequent. It has if else relation [40]. For
instance, Antecedent = consequent Antecedent defines the condition of the rule. It can be sequence
of tokens or just a token. Multiple tokens or rules are concatenated by the OR operator ^ . This
token could be word or proper noun. The target term represents terms within the context of the text
such as person, company name, brand name etc. Consequent is the sentiment which could be
positive, negative or neutral. It will be the result of the antecedent. The rule looks like: {happy} =
positive {angry} = negative VADER

Symbolism Of Society In William Golding s Lord Of The Flies
William Golding s modern classic, Lord of the Flies showcases a group of boys stranded on an
island, in hopes of rescue and survival. This depicts how a society of boys would function if
civilization had not been forced on them. Moreover, this novel shows us Golding s inner kept
judgement of the function of society. The boys first meet together on the island by using what
later becomes a symbol of law; the conch. It is first used as an object to keep order amongst the
boys, but later becomes the center of conflict between two clashing tribes. It represents the battle
between order and chaos, and the outcome is Golding s view of which rules in society. A constant
occurrence in the book is the bullying of the characters, Simon and Piggy. Although these characters
contributed greatly to the development of the group, their actions were never appreciated. They
were both outcasts in the tribe, never listened to, nor included in any conversations. Golding
represents these characters as religionand intelligence, and so the outcast of these boys gives us a
window into which parts of society the author deems are valuable and unnecessary. Jack, the
antagonist in the book is portrayed as a vile, aggressive creature. He and his hunters become
obsessed with bloodshed and macabre, and so they killto satisfy their needs. What starts as killing
pigs for meat as a means of survival, soon turns into an addiction for blood leading to a bloodbath
between the boys. The constant hunger for

Legal Abortion Policy Boundaries Of The United States
Legal Abortion Policy Boundaries After the most widely known court case in the United States,
Roe v. Wade (1973), a woman had a right to have a legal abortion during the first trimester of
pregnancy (The National Right to Life Committee, inc., 2014). Legislation decided that States were
able to regulate abortioninto the second trimester, only to reasonable promote the interest of the
women s health. The third trimester was the first time the state was able to say no to protect the life
of the fetus (Arrigo Waldman, 2014).
Since Roe v Wade, there have been major advancements in the maternal fetal world of medicine.
Advanced technology and science have shown us that there is life to a fetus before the last
trimester, leading to many regulations and laws to prohibit abortion for the life the fetus. Discussed
in this paper are the policies, court cases, and executive decisions affecting legal abortion in the US
and the ethical implications that debate them.
Legal Abortion and Roe v. Wadeof 1973
The court case, Roe v. Wade (1973), brought forward the Texas state law to allow on demand
abortions of fetuses for women until the third trimester, when the state recognized the life of the
child (The National Right to Life Committee, inc., 2014) This brought satisfaction to the women
who felt their rights were violated by not being able to choose what they wanted done with their
bodies. Roe v. Wade (1973) made it seem like abortion was the best choice or the only choice when

Staphylococci Research Paper
They are two medically important genera of gram positive cocci staphylococci and streptococci.
Both are non motile and do not form spores. Staphylococci are catalase positive while
streptococci are catalase negative Staphylococci are Gram positive cocci that divide
perpendicular to the last plane of division, forming clumps or clusters. Depending on the age of
human culture, they can be observed single, in pairs, in short chains, or in grape like clusters.
They are tough organisms because they are relatively resistant to heat and drying. Metabolically,
the Staphylococci are facultative aerobes, and possess both superoxide dismutase and catalase.
Clinically, the most important distinction is between S. aureus and all other species that are
nonpathogenic members. The coagulase test is a simple way to differentiate S. aureus from the
coagulase negative Staphylococci. While there are six species of coagulase negative
Staphylococci, the most numerous species on the skin is Staphylococcus epidermidis. The other

How The Romans Built Aqueducts
Ancient Romans have had a huge impact on influencing modern civilizations, through several
factors ranging from architecture to literature to engineering. The Romans engineering skills
contributed greatly to the establishment of their civilization. Their bridges and roads tied their
empire together and made travel easier especially for merchants and soldiers. But it is the Romans
water system of that set them as an advanced and modern civilization. The Romans were very
skilled architects to an extent that some of their work, such as aqueducts, is still in existence. Some
aqueducts are even still in use by modern day societies to supply fountains with water. An aqueduct
is a water supply or navigable channel constructed to convey water. Since water is one of life s most
important necessities, the ancient Romans built aqueducts in all parts of their empire making it
way easier to transport and provide the empire with water. The water provided by the aqueducts was
used for different purposes which include mining, processing, manufacturing, agriculture, supplying
public baths, latrines, fountains and private households with water. Among the most notable water

Literary Devices In Norton Juster s The Phantom Tollbooth
Norton Juster s book, The Phantom Tollbooth successfully used different types of literary
devices to introduce the main theme of the novel which was the importance of education. Juster
told the story of a boy named Milo who was described as, ...a boy... who didn t know what to do
with himself not just sometimes, but always (1961, p. 9). Milo was very indecisive and overall,
he leads a pretty boring and uneventful life. However, all of that changed when he came home
from school one day and noticed a mysterious tollbooth in his bedroom. The tollbooth made him
start to realize the value of education and the importance of enjoying what was going on in his day
to day life. The literary devicesJuster chose to use in his writing increased the quality of his work
and they also helped allow him to engage his readers in what they were reading more. Juster uses a
wide variety of different types of literary devices throughout the entire story but three of the most
common are irony, puns, and allegory. One of the most ironic moments in the book is when Milo,
Tock, and Humbug enter the Valley of Sound on their way to Digitopolis. From the time they
entered the valley it is obvious that something was missing. Juster wrote, at first it was difficult to
tell just what had changed it all looked the same and it all smelled the same but for some reason,
nothing sounded the same (1961, p. 144). By making the Valley of Sound of all places completely

What Happens During A Retreatment
A root canal retreatment is very similar to a root canal treatment. The area around the affected
tooth will be numbed and dental dam will be placed in your mouth in order to stabilize the surgery
location.
The biggest different between a retreat and a regular root canal occurs during the next step. Any
crowns, posts or filling material that have been installed in your tooth will need to be removed.
The first time your tooth was worked on, there should not have been any crowns or posts to
remove. This adding process makes the retreatment process a little longer than the original process.
Next, any additional material that may obstruct the dentist from doing their job will be removed
with a very small tool that vibrates loose any additional tooth debris. Then, your dentist will use
very small tools in order to clean out all of your roots. If you have any curves or twists in your
roots, or any secondary roots, your dentist will use specialized tools to clean out these sections of

Paramedic Skills Essay
The paramedic profession is an extremely wide scoped integration of biological and clinical
understanding within the pre hospital care environment. Clinical skills in particular such as
effective communication, management, practical procedure and physical examination, are vital to
the operation of a paramedic(University of Otago Faculty of Medicine, 2013, pp. 2 4). A study
based in the UK with statements from over 700 medical experts determined that Clinical Skills
was the most desirable ability of the pre hospital care profession (Kilner, 2004). Despite the fact
that both biological and clinical understandings are equally significant and should not be weighed,

Quiet American Imperialism
Everyone is born under different circumstances, different experiences, and develop different
positions. Although gender allows our existence to flourish, females were and are still
discriminated against. Similar to those people who experienced the dismantle of their culture and
people, imperialism seeks people who are different. They observe the differences of language,
culture, and even physical appearances. In Heart of Darkness and The Quiet American, the
treatment of women and victims of imperialism are almost indistinguishable. Joseph Conradand

The parallelism between female suppression and the conquest of the natives are functioning
simultaneously in Conrad s novel. Women are too, those being victimized. They are similar to the
natives who were objectified and perceived to be uncivilized and ultimately unable to handle
responsibility. They are lied to, promised things, and bound by a traditional institution rather than
love. Conrad, therefore acknowledges this misconstruction of gender equality, by becoming aware
of its biasness.
It is also argued that Conrad had racist tendencies in Heart of Darkness because he refrains from
giving a voice to the Africans. He does this as well with women, refraining from much dialogue
within the text several times. But does this truly make him a racist or a sexist, for that matter?
Readers look at these examples as a cut and clear indication that Conrad had no regard for these
groups of people, without a full examination of his intentions. I believe the evolution of Marlow
as a character represents Conrad s true intention. Marlow right off the start of the novel can be
seen as a sexist, maybe because of the lack of a female character in his life. He feels embarrassed
that he has to go to his aunt for a job, but he does acknowledge her pull to get him an opportunity
to travel the Congo. I believe Conrad was being satirical when he presented this view of Marlow
on women. Marlow describes women as living, in a world of their own, and there has never been

The least helpful features of the book included the author s lack of clarity in characterization which
could have been strengthened either by better character development or simply fewer characters
and names to keep straight (the appendix at the close of the story was not an adequate solution),
the dramatic shifts in point of view, and the occasionally overwhelming amount of detail
provided. For the most part, remedying these faults, was the evidence employed by the author.
Maguire seems to have done a brilliant job researching her subject, and it is clear to the readers
that what is presented to them is, without a doubt, an accurate account of life within the walls of
Parkminster. Under the pretenses that it was the author s goal to give readers that intimate look at
the ascetic life of mid twentieth century Carthusian monks, it is clear that she achieved her goal.
If readers are able to look past the confusion created by some of Maguire s stylistic choices and
the many monks and their many names, then he or she will likely be quite pleased by the
especially insightful, extraordinarily personal, and enormously in depth account of Carthusian

Hannibal Lecter Narcissism
According to the theoretical approaches of Heinz Kohut and Otto Kernberg, normal personality
will develop healthy and stable self regard. However, when high self esteem is taken too far, one
can develop an over inflated sense of self image. This need for attention and an overstated sense of
self admiration is best described as narcissism. In severe cases, narcissism can develop into a
narcissistic personality disorder. According to The Diagnostic and Statistical Manual IV, one who
suffers from a narcissistic personality disorder is at risk for violence. In order to determine if
Hannibal Lecter suffers from a narcissistic personality disorder, his personality traits and actions
will need to be analyzed.
There is no debate that Hannibal Lecter s personality is that of a narcissist. Lecter is a well
educated man who knows the laws of society yet he chooses to disobey them because he believes
he is above the law. Furthermore, Lecter thrives on personal power, compliments, and lacks the

narcissistic does not automatically classify him as having a narcissistic personality disorder. The
main difference between a narcissist and one who is suffering from a narcissistic personality

The biggest motivation in Penn and Winthrop was their views on religion and how it should be

Name: Leya Saju
Plain Language Summary
What is circumcision? What are the benefits? What are the risks?
Circumcision is when the skin that surrounds the tip of the penis is removed. It is a very common
surgery in the United States. It is usually done in newborns, but can also be done in older men.
Families choose to do circumcision because of personal hygiene, faith, tradition etc. While other
families see it as unnecessary.
Circumcision makes it easier to wash the penis and keep the area clean. It also decreases the chance
of getting infections. Sometimes in men who are not circumcised, it may become difficult to pull
the foreskin back. This may cause that foreskin or the head of the penis to become inflamed. Also,
cancer of the penis is seen less in circumcised men. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Rarely, the foreskin does not heal properly or the cut may be made too short or too long. The
American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) recommends circumcision because there are a lot more
benefits than risks, but the decision is entirely up to the parents.
How is it done? Does it hurt?
Circumcision is usually done within 10 days after birth at the hospital nursery. It takes about 10
minutes to do. The baby will lie on his back and the foreskin will be removed by attaching a
Mogen or Gomco clamp to the penis. Ointment and gauze are then used to wrap the penis.
An injection with anesthetics or a cream for pain is used first. To distract the infant, sometimes
sugar water is also used. Research also shows that there may be a difference in pain when a
Mogen clamp is used instead of Gomco. These clamps are common tools used to hold the foreskin
away from the tip of the penis so that your doctor can make a neat cut and reduce any harm to the
head of the

Christopher Kramer English 319U 03/22/2017 Honor To The Hero The honor code that can be
found in the Mabinogi, The Tain, and Gantz s Early Irish Myths and Sagas drives the characters
towards the ideal Celtic hero. The following of the honor code could be better seen as a way of
serving the identity and reputation of the hero rather than a deeper code of morality as it might
suggest. The gae bolga, Efnisien, Mider s love for Etain, and Rhiannon s magic bag are all
instruments of unworldly power, making the impossible possible for each of the heroes. It is
because of these supernatural influences that the heroes are both blessed and cursed by their own
powers. The compliance to the honor code plays less a role in truly enabling the hero and... Show

After each day of fighting they exchange food and bandages to heal one another (The Tain 248)
Yet Ferdia s final words accuse Cuchulainn of unfairness. (The Tain 256) And the gae bolga again
brings death to a warrior more skilled then Cuchulainn, placing not only might and skill but also
the will of Cuchulainn as the agent of fate. It might be of no coincidence that both Cuchulainn s
and Ferdia s foster mother Scathach gives the gae bolga to Cuchulainn. (The Tain 72) Scathach
is a prophetess and she knows Cuchulainn s fate and his dedication to his heroic role in fighting
for the honor of Ulster. (The Tain, 69) The Mabinogi, King Bendigeidfran s wisdom and honor is
depicted in the story of Branwen daughter of Llyr, when he divides the cauldron people among
the land, helping them grow into good warriors (The Mabinogi 64). King Matholwch, the king
of Ireland resents the cauldron people who after receiving complaints, resorts to burning the
cauldron people alive. The story of the cauldron people emphasizes King Matholwch s weak
will. His honor is submissive in both the presence of Bendigeidfran and his people, often
resorting to following their bad advice. Within the main plot, King Bendigeidfran exhibits honor
and allegiance to Matholwch in giving Branwen s hand in marriage. (The Mabinogi, p.60) He
quickly offers horses and his honor price in gold and silver to compensate the shame his half
brother done to Matholwch s horses. (The Mabinogi, p.62) He literally

What Is A Good Character Essay
What is character? Character is something that is hard to explain. It is who we are, the way we
act, and the kind of person we truly are and want to be. Character is what you are in the dark. But
if character is the kind of person you are when no one is looking, then why does it matter?
Character matters because even when we think no one is looking, they are. People are always
watching us and the way we behave and many will look to us in admiration and inspiration, so it
is our job to constantly be a role model of good character. A couple of ways that we can show our
character are through gratitude and respect, but we can also look up to others, such as Benjamin
Franklin, as role models for good character. Showing gratitude towards others is a great way to
express good character. Being thankful and showing appreciation for those in our lives helps us
strengthen our character and show others the good in ourselves. Being grateful is also a way of
being humble and allowing others to see that we don t think we are better than them. Gratitude
can sometimes be hard to find, but there are many ways to show how grateful we are. Thank you
cards, gift baskets, personal thank you s, gifts, and small acts of kindness are great ways to show
the people in our lives that we... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In society today it is common for someone to be respectful to their elders or told to do so, but
when we are respectful to our peers and those younger or below us it shows great character.
People want to be respected and seen as grown up, and the best way to do that is to be respectful
to others. The best way to earn respect is to give respect. People always say that we reap what
we sow and respect is a great example of this. When we are respectful to other they will, in turn, be
respectful to us. Someone with strong character is respectful and grateful to others. Benjamin
Franklin is a great example of a person with strong

The Red Panda have any physical features that you don t see every day. The Red Panda s head to
body length is usually between 50 to 64 cm. Its tail length is usually 28 to 59 cm. They usually
weigh 3 to 6 kg. They have soft red and black fur on their body. Its facial features make it look
like a raccoon. Even though it has panda in its name it looks nothing like one and is not related.
Because of the color of their fur they can easily camouflage with the moss and lichen on trees.
With the thick fur on their short legs, the Red Panda could easily survive on snowy or icy surfaces
as fur acts for a thermal insulation. They are excellent climbers and feed on bamboo with their
strong, curved and sharp semi retractile claws. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Red_panda. When

Ordered Successive Interference Cancellation ( Osic ) Is...
Abstract In this paper, ordered successive interference cancellation (OSIC) is adopted with
minimum mean square error (MMSE) detection to enhance the multiple input multiple output
(MIMO) system performance. The optimum detection technique increases the system complexity
with improved error rate performance. Therefore, MMSE OSIC detection is used which gives
reduced error rate compared to traditional MMSE with a considerable level of complexity. The
system performance is analyzed in a composite fadingenvironment which deals with multipath and
shadowing, known as Weibull gamma (WG) fading environment. Along with the composite fading,
a composite noise i.e. additive white generalized Gaussian noise (AWGGN) model is taken into
account to form various noise scenarios such as impulsive, Gamma, Laplacian, Gaussian and
uniform noise. Consequently, generalized Q function is used to develop such noise scenario. The
average symbol error probability (ASEP) of MIMOsystem is computed for 16 quadrature amplitude
modulation(16 QAM) using MMSE OSIC detection in WG fading with AWGGN. Analytical
expressions are evaluated in terms of Fox H function (FHF). These expressions demonstrate the best
fit to simulation results.
Keywords MIMO, MMSE OSIC, WG fading, AWGGN, M QAM, ASEP.

Grunge Fashion
Nothing screamed 90 s fashion more than chunky shoes, baggy jeans and mood rings. The 80 s
represented a time of outrageous fashion in a neon rainbow of colours, the 90 s however opted
towards the casual look. You would either go for a too care to care look known as grunge fashion
or a cute school girllook with some platform shoes. Need to State points and hypothesis
90s fashion for teenage girls was a mix of baggy and revealing. Some went for the grunge look and
others preferred the school girl look. The school girl look included a mini skirt, knee high socks
and of course a pair of platform shoes. Celebrities like Britney spears, the Spice Girls and Cher
from clueless were examples of the 90s school girl look. The grunge look was more unstructured
and loose and avoided any tight fitted clothing. The look consisted of a band tee, baggy ripped
jeans paired with a flannel and the more comfortable option of shoes a pair of doc martens.
Celebrities like Gwen Stefani, Drew Barrymore and Johnny Depp went for this look. Guys in
the 90 s all went for a just fell out of bed look also following the grunge fashion. It incorporated
baggy jeans, a flannel, greasy hair covered with a backwards cap and some combat boots. The

television enabled fashion trends to rapidly spread between cultures. Cheaper air travel meant that
people could travel easier to other parts of the world bringing overseas cultural influences back to
Australia. People in London or New York would therefore be wearing similar clothes to people in
Perth or Sydney. Globalization also led designers to borrow heavily from cultures previously absent
from western fashion. In particular, Chinese and Japanese clothing styles began to influence

Elie Wiesel experienced 2 years of events that nothing will be able to amount to. After the
deportation of his village, he survived through 4 concentration camps in a year. The camps were

Body image refers to how the physical self is perceived. Different cultures and different periods

as good if it is attractive, thin and fit. Therefore, consumers will look for clothing that can help
them in building this image. Self image refers to the physical and psychological perception that
one has of oneself. One can evaluate one s self image through feedback from others on his/her
appearance and simply by looking at the reflection of one s image on the mirror. Correct selection

recreation and daily life. Outward signs such as clothes, homes, cars and jobs help people link
themselves to others with similar lifestyle. The values, attitudes and interests of each individual
determine lifestyle. Some contemporary lifestyle trends and their implications on clothing selection
are indicated in the following table:
Values Values come from one s culture, environment, family, peers and social experience. Family
members, peers and media influence them. Values are also very individualistic. They cause conflict
between people and sometimes tension between generations. Different values occur in length of

The following are examples of value orientation and their relationship to clothing:
Income The amount of money that consumers spend on clothing and other goods mostly depends
on their income. Consumers living in developed countries may choose a wide variety of goods.

Man On Wire Analysis
In an extremely rare occurrence, I watched Man on Wire twice in 24 hours. I enjoyed the movie,
which I watched because of Adam Kempenaar s continuous praise, but I don t love it enough to
merit that second viewing. On the contrary, the first time I watched it was at 11 p.m. and I had
been up since 4:30 that morning. So my mental faculties weren t at their peak, and I began to
doze off even though I liked the documentary. So I watched it again the next day, at a better time
and with more sleep, to help me clarify why I think this is a very good but not great film.
Man on Wire, James Marsh s 2008 documentary, chronicles the story of Philippe Petit, an eccentric
French tightrope walker who dreamed of performing on a wire between the Twin Towers.... Show

The walk is gratifying and somewhat beautiful and moving, but you don t quite know why.
Maybe it s because it s fun to see Petit, in photographs, finally realize his dream. Maybe it s the
payoff of seeing the heist accomplished. Maybe it s the poignancy of seeing someone with such
joy atop what became a symbol for tragedy and loss on 9/11. Regardless of the reason, you
certainly feel a swell of emotion when you see the images of Petit on the wire.
With all that being said, I do think a few things hold Man on Wire back from becoming a truly
great movie. One of those is that the lines between the recreations and archival footage that Marsh
uses is often blurred. That bothered me for some reason, possibly because I d like to know which
one is the truth.
I eventually thought, however, that I don t think documentaries can truly show us objective reality,
so that shouldn t matter. I also thought it didn t matter what was real footage and reconstructions
because regardless the talent displayed in these segments actually happened and is impressive.
Despite these conclusions, I still found myself pulled out of the movie when I couldn t deduce if
the images onscreen were archival footage or

City of Riverside, California
Located beside the Santa Ana River about 60 miles east of Los Angeles, the historic town of
Riverside hosts a populace of 303,871, according to the 2010 US Census. Currently the 12th
most populated city in California and the 59th in the country, Riverside has come a long way
since its humble beginnings. Founded in the 1870s by a Tennessee abolitionist named John W.
North who also founded Northfield, Minnesota it would quickly become renowned for its
orange trees. In 1871, the first trees were planted. However, it would be three years before the
area became famous for its oranges after a local resident, Eliza Tibbets received a gift from a
horticulturist at the United States Department of Agriculture. William Saunders sent Eliza three
Brazilian naval orange trees. Originally planted on the Tibbet s property, the two surviving trees
were transplanted to land owned by Sam McCoy after one of the saplings was trampled by a
cow. In 1903, the trees were transplanted again. One was moved to the property of the Mission
Inn and re planted by President Theodore Roosevelt; it died in 1922. The other tree was also
transplanted in 1903 to the intersection of Magnolia and Arlington avenue where it remains to this
day with a stone memorial honoring Eliza Tibbets. The trees origins were Bahia, Brazil. Although
a prized orange by many, the tree did not do well in Florida where most US oranges were grown at
that time. However, the Bahia orange tree thrived in Southern California and

John s Dress Code
Thy word is a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path.
Psalms 119:105

period, John was given a book on the banks policies, one of which described the dress code; only
white or blue shirts. clip on ties and navy pants.
John went to work each night ecstatic and happy that he was moving up in the world, his only
negative feelings about his job was the dress code! Although, he followed it obediently, John was

If it wasn t for the intervention of another officer, John may have died that night. And, it was all

Had he worn a clip on tie, it would have come right off his neck and John would not have been
choked at all. He finally saw the rational behind the banks police book, the dress code they had
developed and the difference behind wearing a clip on tie verses his own neckties!
How many times have we fallen short or battled, simply because we chose not to listen to God s
Word? Perhaps, God was telling us to walk down a pathway that seemed uncertain in our eyes or
perchance we were looking for an easier road to travel on!
David is telling us... that by reading, knowing and trusting God s Word, we have a lamp light

  • 2. Iodoform Test Lab Report The identification and characterization of the structures of unknown substances are an important part of Organic Chemistry. In this experiment a sample of an unknown aldehyde or ketone was obtained. From this sample two solid derivatives were prepared. Their melting points were obtained and compared to those listed in the Table of AldehydeKetoneDerivatives. From this the unknown sample was identified. As additional aid a Benedict s test and Iodoform test were used. These are functional group tests used for distinguishing between aldehydes, ketones and methyl ketones. A Benedict s test tests positive for aliphatic aldehydes and negative for aromatic aldehydes and ketones. An Iodoform test tests positive for methyl ketones and acetaldehyde... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This was accomplished through functional group tests, preparation of two solid derivatives and determining their melting points and making careful observations. The unknown sample was determined to be cinnamaldehyde due to the odor it produced when the various tests were performed. Even though the melting points obtained from the Dinitrophenylhydrazone and Semicarbazone derivatives were not close to the melting points of cinnamaldehyde (255в„ѓ and 215в„ѓ respectively) the odor gave a clue to the unknown compound. The melting point differences could have been due to human error handling the glassware and following the lab manual instructions. Synthesis/ ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

During the Battle of the Cowshed, Snowball was the mastermind behind the organized attack which led the animals to victory. Similarly, Trotsky proved to be an outstanding military leader, as he led the army of 3 million to victory (Biography.com). Another resemblance between Trotsky and Snowball is that they are eventually exiled by the government. • 4. Theme Of Death In Chronicle Of A Death Foretold In Gabriel GarcГa MГЎrquez s novella Chronicle of a Death Foretold, Santiago Nasar is ruthlessly murdered by the Vicario brothers Pedro and Pablo Vicario in a remote Colombian town. Although the Vicario brothers are responsible for the murder, i.e. the actual killing of Santiago, the behind the scene culture, in particular the town s beliefs, ideals and expectations, should be blamed for Santiago s death. Aspects of the town s culture, including the sanctity of pre marital virginity and honor, drive the characters to perform the murderof Santiago. The town s cultural highlight on pre marital virginity is one major factor accountable for Santiago s death. Angela Vicario s decision to put on the veil and the orange blossoms without being a... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Since the brothers were brought up to be men, they needed to take action in order to regain their sister and family s honor (30). Honor was idolized in the town to the point that the act of killing Santiago can be forgiven, or even rewarded. The town s ideal of honor closely relates to heroic, masculine theme like going on an epic quest. For instance, Pablo Vicario s wife Prudencia Cotes never would have married [Pablo] if he hadn t done what a man should do (63). In other words, Pablo is the hero who goes on a grand journey to slay the monster Santiago. After slaying Santiago, he proves himself as a man, gains his honor, and is rewarded with a bride, who would not have married him otherwise. Prudencia s decision to marry Pablo amplify the hidden cultural expectation for a man to uphold the honor of the family, even if upholding the honor means sacrificing someone else s life. Throughout the novella, the Vicario brothers actions suggest that their decision of killing Santiago is against their will. They made their plan rather obvious for the townspeople to find out. As a matter of fact, they advertised their plan to the entire town because that the only reason they had said it was for someone to hear them (51). This act of disseminating their plot hints to their hesitation and doubtfulness of committing the actual ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Theories Of Progressive Education Progressive Learning Theory in the US Sarah Cooper Rashaell Keating John Dewey s Progressive Learning Theory is defined as any various reformist educational philosophies and methodologies since the late 1800s, applied especially to elementary schools, that reject the rote recitation and strict discipline of traditional, single classroom teaching, favoring instead more stimulation of the individual pupil as well as group discussion, more informality in the classroom, a broader curriculum, and use of laboratories, gymnasiums, etc. in the school. It is essentially an umbrella theory for many theories that have contributed to what is known as, Progressive Education. Key Influences Friedrich Wilhelm August FrГ¶bel (1782 1852) was a German pedagogue and educator who first coined the term kindergarten in 1840. His main contribution was realizing the importance of activity of the child, such as free work and games, in learning and that each child learns differently and has different capabilities. He was a student of Johann Heinrich Pestalozzi (1746 1827) who felt that individuals best learned through experiences and through a direct manipulation and experience of objects and children were intrinsically motivated. Johann Friedrich Herbart (1776 1841) was a German philosopher, psychologist and founder of pedagogy as an academic discipline. • 6. Facebook Case Analysis Facebook (FB) has been dominating the social network industry since its birth in 2004. It was one of the first social platforms that aimed to connect people all over the world together. FB has been successful in establishing its competitive advantage relying in its network effect and its ability to catch up with the competition. As depicted on Figure II, FB has strength points that include: its long history and its access to global markets over a short period of time, that enabled it to lock in a wide base of users that find it too costly to switch to other networks that don t provide a strong motivation for switching especially that FB has a strong ability for imitation and integration that led to a growing advertising revenue from different advertisers that find FB to be a great source of data that they can use for segmentation and targeting. FB weakness points are: its high dependency on advertising revenue, its high dependency on games applications revenue and concentration of ownership in the hands of its founder, Mr. Zuckerberg, that seems to be so innovative and successful. However, it is a reason why long term investors may worry because there is no guarantee of the continuous of the long term success given a single control over a public company. On the external trend, FB has an opportunity to increase its base of mobile users due to the increase of people logging in on the go in comparison to computer users. • 10. Freud Ego And Super Ego Freud was an Austrian neurologist and founder of psychoanalysis; he was born on 6th May 1856 and died 23rd September 1939 in London. Freud developed psychoanalysis which looked into dreams, fantasies and someone s free association. The psychodynamic approach looks into the unconscious (unware) and how this effects behavior and the conscious (aware) and the relation between them in our mind (psyche). Freud s theories about child sexuality, ego s and what makes us tick were most influential in the 20th century. Psychodynamic approach bases its theory on three unconscious structures known as Id, ego and super ego. Id is the impulsive part of the structure, following basic animal instincts of indulgence. If the psyche has a strong id, the person would have no regard for other people, would be confrontational, would be driven by sexual impulses and would not fit in well with society. The super ego is the opposite of id, it is the conscience stating the right and wrong and repressive of any confrontation. If someone has a strong super ego it is likely that they would be very withdrawn and anxious with no confidence. Ego is the part of the psyche that adapts to the environment; it judges what is acceptable in certain social situations and control the id and the super ego for a healthy balance. Freud states that these structures of the psyche are developed in early childhood years and the ego continues to develop as we grow older. Due to the early development stages Freud assumes ... Earlobe Allele Frequency Lab Report Earlobe Allele Frequency in General and Asian Populations Laura Kathryn Browne Georgia Perimeter College Introduction: The purpose of this experiment is to observe the frequency of attached versus detached earlobes to better understand the presentation of traits in humans in general and in certain populations to determine if individuals of particular ethnicity are more likely to present with one phenotype of the other. It is understood that attached earlobes are the dominant phenotype and detached earlobes are the recessive phenotype, however there is some controversy regarding this distinction, as suggested by McDonald (2011), who points out that CarriГЁre and Hilden were among the first to study the genetics of earlobes, and they reached opposite conclusions . The purpose is this experiment is to revisit this topic and determine whether there is a moderately clear dominant and recessive genotype in human earlobes. Hypothesis: The hypothesis of this experiment is that attached earlobes are more common in individuals of Asian descent than in the general population. Methods: The demonstration was conducted at a busy 24 hour Starbucks in downtown Ann Arbor, Michigan in the evening from 7pm to 10pm. Despite the time it takes to get used to the restrained perspective, it works beautifully in both an aesthetic and metaphoric manner. The bold visual trick mixed with tight shot sizes allow every moment to be emotionally sincere; the audience can avoid distractions to the left and right of the frame and look the characters right in the eye. Even in the most calm of scenes, if there are three characters on screen, the sequence becomes that much more powerful. The ratio forces the audience to sit front row in the suffocating unhealthiness and, like Steve s mind, offers them no escape save for two fleeting moments when the frame expands to a standard aspect ratio. To examine the topic properly I should start with my own understanding of the topic; I understand that drinking is a part of the college experience and that it is pervasive on campus. College students reflect those same statistics. Concern is raised about how alcohol use patterns developed in the teen years is not an issue that time resoles. The article then bridges into alcohol s effects on teens. The absorption of alcohol under normal circumstances is first explained, with there being a set amount of alcohol being removed each hour and if that amount is exceeded alcohol will continue building up in the blood. Hume s argument is that there is no rational reason for human beings to believe in miracles, and that it is wrong to have miracles as the building blocks for religion. It is because the general notion of miracles come from the statement of others who claim to have seen them, Hume believes that there is no way to prove that those accounts are accurate, because they were not experienced first hand. In order to believe a miracle, the evidence should be concrete, and something irrefutable. When there is any sort of doubt to a miracle, Hume says that any evidence that can be contrary to the proof of a miracle is merely evidence that the miracle did... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In essence, any miracle that a Christian believes as fact, is something that a Muslim person would consider hearsay, and vice versa. There is a constant battle between religions to disprove the other s miracles, and Hume believes that none of these miracles occurred. To Hume, it is never rational to believe in a miracle, as it is a violation of the laws of nature. For a miracle to be believable, it must be based on testimony, and have a focus on something that can be proven. This testimony must have evidence to justify that the miracle is in fact based on a law of nature. For Hume, if a miracle is to be rationally accepted, the evidence to support it must be balanced for the evidence in the natural world. Even if there is a conflicting piece of evidence for the miracle, the conclusion must indicate that said miracle is a probable occurrence. With that probable evidence must come absolute proof that the person who experienced the miracle was in his or her right state of mind, was never diagnosed with a mental illness, and is a person who can be trusted to give factual suggestions. Essentially, a miracle is possible because it is conceivable, but in reality, there is no evidence to prove it. To properly establish his position on miracles, Hume writes: no testimony is sufficient to establish a miracle, unless the testimony be of such a kind, that its falsehood would be more miraculous, than the fact, which it endeavours to establish (Hume, An Enquiry ... Before starting the finishing process, the hardwood surface should be free of dirt and all nails must be carefully driven so they are not protruding in the floor or the baseboard. Depending on the hardwood flooringsurface, sometimes with two sanding cuts, you will get a nice finish whatsoever, if the floor is uneven, then three sanding cuts will be needed. Hardwood Flooring Sanding Machines There are two main types of sanding machines: drum or disk type. Drum sanders have the sandpaper mounted on a drum that rotates parallel to the plane of the floor, scratching in straight lines in the direction of the sanding machine. On the other hand, disk sanders are the ones in which the sandpaper rotates in a circle in the plane of the floor. There are different tools that will facilitate sanding hardwood floor near the edges of the floor and next to the baseboard. Before the passing of the Bankruptcy Code, the legal framework in India with regard to this sphere suffered from a lack of clarity and certainty in jurisdictions. Literary Devices In Norton Juster s The Phantom Tollbooth Norton Juster s book, The Phantom Tollbooth successfully used different types of literary devices to introduce the main theme of the novel which was the importance of education. Juster told the story of a boy named Milo who was described as, ...a boy... who didn t know what to do with himself not just sometimes, but always (1961, p. 9). Milo was very indecisive and overall, he leads a pretty boring and uneventful life. However, all of that changed when he came home from school one day and noticed a mysterious tollbooth in his bedroom. The tollbooth made him start to realize the value of education and the importance of enjoying what was going on in his day to day life. The literary devicesJuster chose to use in his writing increased the quality of his work and they also helped allow him to engage his readers in what they were reading more. Juster uses a wide variety of different types of literary devices throughout the entire story but three of the most common are irony, puns, and allegory. One of the most ironic moments in the book is when Milo, Tock, and Humbug enter the Valley of Sound on their way to Digitopolis. From the time they entered the valley it is obvious that something was missing. Juster wrote, at first it was difficult to tell just what had changed it all looked the same and it all smelled the same but for some reason, nothing sounded the same (1961, p. 144). By making the Valley of Sound of all places completely silent in the book, readers become more ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The biggest different between a retreat and a regular root canal occurs during the next step. Any crowns, posts or filling material that have been installed in your tooth will need to be removed. The first time your tooth was worked on, there should not have been any crowns or posts to remove. This adding process makes the retreatment process a little longer than the original process. Next, any additional material that may obstruct the dentist from doing their job will be removed with a very small tool that vibrates loose any additional tooth debris. Clinical skills in particular such as effective communication, management, practical procedure and physical examination, are vital to the operation of a paramedic(University of Otago Faculty of Medicine, 2013, pp. 2 4). A study based in the UK with statements from over 700 medical experts determined that Clinical Skills was the most desirable ability of the pre hospital care profession (Kilner, 2004). The parallelism between female suppression and the conquest of the natives are functioning simultaneously in Conrad s novel. Women are too, those being victimized. They are similar to the natives who were objectified and perceived to be uncivilized and ultimately unable to handle responsibility. They are lied to, promised things, and bound by a traditional institution rather than love. Conrad, therefore acknowledges this misconstruction of gender equality, by becoming aware of its biasness. It is also argued that Conrad had racist tendencies in Heart of Darkness because he refrains from giving a voice to the Africans. He does this as well with women, refraining from much dialogue within the text several times. But does this truly make him a racist or a sexist, for that matter? Readers look at these examples as a cut and clear indication that Conrad had no regard for these groups of people, without a full examination of his intentions. I believe the evolution of Marlow as a character represents Conrad s true intention. Marlow right off the start of the novel can be seen as a sexist, maybe because of the lack of a female character in his life. He feels embarrassed that he has to go to his aunt for a job, but he does acknowledge her pull to get him an opportunity to travel the Congo. I believe Conrad was being satirical when he presented this view of Marlow on women. Marlow describes women as living, in a world of their own, and there has never been anything like ... For the most part, remedying these faults, was the evidence employed by the author. Circumcision is when the skin that surrounds the tip of the penis is removed. It is a very common surgery in the United States. It is usually done in newborns, but can also be done in older men. Families choose to do circumcision because of personal hygiene, faith, tradition etc. While other families see it as unnecessary. Circumcision makes it easier to wash the penis and keep the area clean. It also decreases the chance of getting infections. Character matters because even when we think no one is looking, they are. Abstract In this paper, ordered successive interference cancellation (OSIC) is adopted with minimum mean square error (MMSE) detection to enhance the multiple input multiple output (MIMO) system performance. The optimum detection technique increases the system complexity with improved error rate performance. Therefore, MMSE OSIC detection is used which gives reduced error rate compared to traditional MMSE with a considerable level of complexity. The system performance is analyzed in a composite fadingenvironment which deals with multipath and shadowing, known as Weibull gamma (WG) fading environment. Along with the composite fading, a composite noise i.e. additive white generalized Gaussian noise (AWGGN) model is taken into account to form various noise scenarios such as impulsive, Gamma, Laplacian, Gaussian and uniform noise. Consequently, generalized Q function is used to develop such noise scenario. The average symbol error probability (ASEP) of MIMOsystem is computed for 16 quadrature amplitude modulation(16 QAM) using MMSE OSIC detection in WG fading with AWGGN. • 53. Man On Wire Analysis In an extremely rare occurrence, I watched Man on Wire twice in 24 hours. I enjoyed the movie, which I watched because of Adam Kempenaar s continuous praise, but I don t love it enough to merit that second viewing. On the contrary, the first time I watched it was at 11 p.m. and I had been up since 4:30 that morning. So my mental faculties weren t at their peak, and I began to doze off even though I liked the documentary. So I watched it again the next day, at a better time and with more sleep, to help me clarify why I think this is a very good but not great film. Man on Wire, James Marsh s 2008 documentary, chronicles the story of Philippe Petit, an eccentric French tightrope walker who dreamed of performing on a wire between the Twin Towers.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The walk is gratifying and somewhat beautiful and moving, but you don t quite know why. Maybe it s because it s fun to see Petit, in photographs, finally realize his dream. Maybe it s the payoff of seeing the heist accomplished. Maybe it s the poignancy of seeing someone with such joy atop what became a symbol for tragedy and loss on 9/11. Regardless of the reason, you certainly feel a swell of emotion when you see the images of Petit on the wire. With all that being said, I do think a few things hold Man on Wire back from becoming a truly great movie. One of those is that the lines between the recreations and archival footage that Marsh uses is often blurred. That bothered me for some reason, possibly because I d like to know which one is the truth. I eventually thought, however, that I don t think documentaries can truly show us objective reality, so that shouldn t matter. I also thought it didn t matter what was real footage and reconstructions because regardless the talent displayed in these segments actually happened and is impressive. Despite these conclusions, I still found myself pulled out of the movie when I couldn t deduce if the images onscreen were archival footage or ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

City of Riverside, California Located beside the Santa Ana River about 60 miles east of Los Angeles, the historic town of Riverside hosts a populace of 303,871, according to the 2010 US Census. Currently the 12th most populated city in California and the 59th in the country, Riverside has come a long way since its humble beginnings. Founded in the 1870s by a Tennessee abolitionist named John W. North who also founded Northfield, Minnesota it would quickly become renowned for its orange trees. In 1871, the first trees were planted. However, it would be three years before the area became famous for its oranges after a local resident, Eliza Tibbets received a gift from a horticulturist at the United States Department of Agriculture. William Saunders sent Eliza three Brazilian naval orange trees. Originally planted on the Tibbet s property, the two surviving trees were transplanted to land owned by Sam McCoy after one of the saplings was trampled by a cow. In 1903, the trees were transplanted again. One was moved to the property of the Mission Inn and re planted by President Theodore Roosevelt; it died in 1922. The other tree was also transplanted in 1903 to the intersection of Magnolia and Arlington avenue where it remains to this day with a stone memorial honoring Eliza Tibbets. The trees origins were Bahia, Brazil. Although a prized orange by many, the tree did not do well in Florida where most US oranges were grown at that time. However, the Bahia orange tree thrived in Southern California and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
