How Does John Keats s Poetry Reflect the Romantic Era Essay
Explain how the poetry of John Keats reflects the values of Romanticism.
The Romantic Era spanned roughly between 1798 and 1832 and its poetry places an emphasis on the
imagination, nature and feeling. The Romantic period was associated with imagination as people
looked with fresh curiosity into the workings of their own minds, generating ideas that laid a
foundation for modern psychology. Romanticism emerged out of the rational thought of the
Enlightenment Era into a redemptive and inspiring period. John Keats was born at the beginning of
Romanticism making him a significant figure in the expression of these values. His poetry was a great
example to the Romantic era and his poems; When I have fears that I may cease to be and Bright ...

Keats s When I have fears that I may cease to be represents the major key concepts of Romanticism
values through his use of the significant metaphor that is linked with the natural world. Before my pen
has glean d my teeming brain symbolises the pen as a tool for harvesting and Hold like rich garners
the full ripen d grain , is the product that is finalised from all the hard work on the field. Keats reflects
his hard work of poetry to the importance of nature and compares it to harvesting to visualise the
method of producing these products. With the importance of nature that has been comprehensively
characterised in the poem, Keats poetry has shown to be effectively reflective to the values of
Romanticism.
John Keats contributed Romanticism in the Bright Star by emphasizing the redemptive qualities of a
star which purified his inner body and he connected this to expressing his beauty and inspiration of the
love he felt towards his fiancé. His imagination in this poem is a great example of the poetry during
the Romantic Age. Keats is dissatisfied with mortality and longs for eternal life, Bright star, would I
were steadfast as thou art . Here Keats is revealing his inner thoughts and feelings to the bright star
and is comparing his short life to the star s perminence in life. He also gives the star human qualities
through the use of personification, And watching with eternal lids apart, Like nature s patient,

The Soviet Union Of Soviet Republics
Since the dissolution of the Soviet Union in 1991, former Soviet republics have been forced to
undertake the harrowing task of achieving stability for their citizens and developing their own
identities independent from the former hegemon. Some, such as Poland, have been successful in this
regard, while others, such as Georgia, have been less fortunate. For Ukraine, a vast agricultural
country with centuries old ties to Russia, answers to the questions of stability and identity have been
uncertain ones. In spring 2014, following the Ukrainian Revolution in which pro Russian president
Viktor Yanukovych was deposed and replaced by Olexander Turchnyov, Russian forces invaded
Crimea after signing an accession treaty on March 18. Throughout the year, this conflict escalated
with violence between pro Russian militants along with Russian forces and Ukrainian military and
thousands of deaths. The violence in Crimea, where Russians have an ethnic majority of 58%, and
eastern Ukraine began to dissipate in late September when Russian military commenced a withdrawal
from Ukraine. The violence intensified again in early November when pro Russian separatists in
eastern Ukraine held new elections supported by Russia and denounced by Ukraine, the United States,
and the European Union. This is an issue that has vast economic repercussions for powerful eurozone
countries such as Germany, whose GDP growth rate fell to 0.4% in the second quarter, and who has

Historical Gender Roles
Over the past decades, gender roles and family relations have changed, specifically in marriage and in
family relations. Men and women now have equal rights, which means women can work at any job
they would like, have a right to vote, and do not have to live under any rule of their family. Back in
1450 2000 circa people would live under very tight ruling where you either follow the rules or
die. There were a few similarities as well as differences during this time in Western Europe and the
Middle East. In 8000 600 CE in Greece only men are capable of perfection; women secluded. Rome
would have Paterfamilias. Paterfamilias are strict authority centered around the oldest male. Women
have influenced family and public lives as a mother or daughter. Around 600 1450 CE women could
own and inherit property, enter religious life as nuns, run households, while men were away, and
lower class women had more freedom. Upper class women increased in education and divorce easier

Questions and Answers Regarding Equilateral Triangles
Since the centroid of a triangle lies along each median, 2/3 of the distance from the vertex to the
modpoint of the opposite side, we have:
■(t=2/3∙√3/2∙c=c/√3;@u=2/3∙√3/2∙b=b/√3.)
And in this case (1) becomes (2):
〖3s〗^2=b^2+c^2 2∙b∙c∙cos(A+60°).
Expanding the cosine of the sum, we have (3): cos(A+60°)=cos(A)/2 (√3∙sin(A))/2. Substituting (3)
into (2) yields to (4):
〖3s〗^2=b^2+c^2 b∙c∙cos(A)+√3∙b∙c∙sin(A).
Now we will apply the Law of Cosines to ∆ABC (5): a^2=b^2+c^2 2∙b∙c∙cos(A). And recall (6):
2∙S_∆ABC=b∙c∙sin(A).
Substituting (5) and (6) into (4) gives us (7):
3s^2=(a^2+b^2+c^2)/2+2∙√3∙S_∆ABC
As (7) is symmetrical in a,b and c, it follows that the triangle connecting the three centroids is
equilateral:
IH=GH=GI=s=√((a^2+b^2+c^2)/2+2∙√3∙S_∆ABC )/√3=√((a^2+b^2+c^2)/6+(2∙S_∆ABC)/√3).
The Napoleon s triangle is equilateral. Proved.
Answer: Proved.
Rotating by the point:
Fix the point I as the center of rotation and rotate the entire figure by 120°, and superimpose the
rotated copy on the original figure.
Uder rotation the ∆CAF maps to itself (C maps to A, A maps to F, F maps to C and I maps to itself).
Points BB, DD, EE, GG and HH are the images of the points B, D, E, G and H, respectively. Because

Connect D to EE and G to HH. By the rigidity of the rotation, ∆GHI=∆GG.HH.I. In particular

The Story behind Diamonds
Diamonds are one of the most popular minerals in the world and yet people are not aware of the
circumstances it takes to acquire this such unique mineral. Many people would agree when I say that
this mineral is such a nice thing to look at, but few people actually know what it is made of and how it
was formed. These precious minerals are composed of Carbon. The process to making this immaculate
mineral is as following. First, you must bury Carbon dioxide deep into the earth; approximately, 100
miles deep. Second, you must heat the substance at a temperature of 2,200 degrees fahrenheit. Next,
squeeze or tightly compact the substance under pressure of 725,000 pounds per square inch. Finally, it
must quickly rush to the earths surface to cool off. All this must be done just to create diamond.
Luckily for some men, scientist have created an alternative of the mined diamonds, it is a synthetic
diamond composed of the same things and look almost identical. So if you re planning to pop the big
question soon you have options with that part of the proposal. When you think of the price of real
diamonds you might think that they are pretty expensive and what makes them so special. Along with
its looks, it is a rare mineral that still has a high demand. The places where you can find high
concentrations are usually far away. As a matter of fact, the location that has the largest concentration
of diamonds is in central and southern Africa. It is reported that they have 49% of

Colonial Differences Between Jamestown And Plymouth...
Differences Between Jamestown and Plymouth Plantation Captain John Smith and William Bradford
have influenced and impacted the nation back in history and even today. It all took place in the 1600 s,
history in the past. Both men helped shape and create colonies and they also kept documents of the
times. One was influenced by a person and the other was influenced by dramatic personal experience.
Both men had convenient ideas and plans that lead into strong leaderships. John Smith was
accompanied with 40 other men who were sent on a voyage that lasted 4 months. The voyage wasn t
any pleasing, men would get sick and there wasn t any fine food provided for them. Although, the
leader did have his own stash of food for himself, but that didn t last because the leader sadly died.
Along with the president, 50 crew members died from starvation, due to less food. The men still
continued the long voyage while they blamed the council for not thinking properly because the
conditions were horrible and the voyage was longer than expected. As they got to the land after that
long lasting voyage, they got to land and everyone settled down. In John Smith s journals, he kept his
stories in the 3rd person point of view. Days past and Smith was attacked by nearby Indians. He uses

In the United States, imported fire ants currently inhabit all or parts of Alabama, Arkansas, California,
Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Missouri, Mississippi, New Mexico, North Carolina, Oklahoma, Puerto
Rico, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, and Virginia. They are discovered sporadically in Maryland.
The red imported fire ant has also been accidentally introduced to other countries. Imported fire ants
will likely continue to spread throughout much of the southern portion of the U.S, and other parts of

Carpenter ants are usually larger than most other house infesting ants. They vary in color from a dull
black or reddish yellow color to a combination of black and dull red or reddish orange.
Why do fire ants bite
Fire ant is the common name for several species of ants in the genus solenopsis. They are, however,
only a minority in the genus, which includes over 200 species of Solenopsis worldwide. Solenopsis
are stinging ants and most of their common names reflect this, for example, ginger ants and tropical
ants. Many species also are called red ants because of their light brown color, though species of ants in
many other genera are similarly named for similar reasons. Examples include Myrmica rubra and
Pogonomyrmex barbatus.
None of these names applies in all countries nor to all species of Solenopsis, only to Solenopsis
species; for example the colloquial names for several species of weaver ants in the genus Oecophylla
in Southeast Asia include fire ants because of their red color and painful sting he two genera, however,
are not closely related. Also, Wasmannia auropunctata is commonly called the little fire

Hester Prynne Symbolism
In The Scarlet Letter, Nathaniel Hawthorne uses Hester Prynne to provide an audience with ethical
lessons. Caught for committing adultery, the protagonist of the novel transforms her life through
dealing with her punishment. Using symbolism and evident themes, the author clarifies the meaning
of his work, which is to teach a moral lesson, making him a contemporary author.
In the beginning of The Scarlet Letter, Hester s society treats her like a convict for committing
adultery, as it is considered a sin. Due to this, people alienate Hester, which significantly magnifies her
shame and loneliness. By doing charitable works around the community, Hester attempts to atone and
repent for her sin of committing adultery. However, the people who benefit the most from Hester s
humanitarian works respond with ungratefulness and bitterness. During this ordeal, Hester
progressively becomes wiser by interacting with other people. For example, Hawthorne states, She

The overall message that he is trying to convey, is that Hester Prynne challenges social norms as she is

appeared the letter A, (37) which shows that the scarlet letter she is forced to wear is a symbol of her
wrong doing. It also proves that Hester does not only accept her punishment, but is able to transform it
from an reminder of past mistakes, to a token of self growth and newly acquired wisdom. This symbol
strengthens Hathorne s meaning because it is the object that is used numerous times to remind the
audience of Hester s crime and punishment, which is essential in analyzing the effect it has on the

John G. Neihardt s Black Elk
A little background I found on the author, John G. Neihardt, was that when he was little he moved
around in the west a lot. While he was travelling in the west, after meeting his wife, he ran into
Nicholas Black Elk, the Ogalala holy man, and would bring his visions to the world. The original
book was published in 1932, and sold millions all over the world. The idea of the book was to
recognize that not all Native Americans are going to kill you, and that it could introduce the idea of
dreams with perceptive understandings. Standing Bear was in the room where the writing was taking
place as a witness to tell that everything was true. While Neihardt was writing the book him and Black

He tells stories about how there was a time when the tribe was moving to a new location and it
happened to be in Soliders Town where six bands of Ogalala tribes were there to hunt, and while they
were there the white men had threatened to hurt a little boy who had gone and cut off a part of their
flagpole. While this incident is happening, Red Cloud is trying to make peace with the white men so
they aren t enemies. In the book Black Elk talks says in the book That winter one of our boys climbed
the flagpole and chopped it off near the top. This almost made bad trouble; soldiers surrounded us
with their guns; but Red Cloud, who was living there, stood right in the middle without a weapon and
made speeches to the Wasichus and to us. (Neihardt 48) He talks about chiefs he saw that day, and
which ones he thought were pretty great, such as Crazy Horse and Red Cloud. He talked about the
Ogalala tribe and how they wanted to move places and hunt buffalo in a different area, and that was
why he was in Soldiers Town at the time. Black Elk speaks of another time when he had a vision
while he was away from his camp and he wasn t sure what to do at the time so he kept doing his thing.
He tells of a story he had with his father while they are out hunting, where he tells him to wait for the
animals to come to him and not chase the deer. He says Then the queer feeling came back, and I said
without knowing why I said it: No father, stay here; for they are bringing them to us. He looked at me
hard again, and said; All right son. So we lay down there in the grass and waited. They did come to us,
and my father got two of them. I found it interesting that he included this story considering that he has
visions about animals and whatnot. Black Elk speaks of a time when he was young and fishing;

Human Activity and Energy Sources
Earth s resources, for instance water, productive farming land and energy, outlines the basic
foundations of our continued existence on earth. However, with the continued human activities, for
example logging and charcoal burning, these resources are quickly being depleted. Human
inhabitation and increased consumption of the natural resources is resulting in untold destruction. The
climate change being experienced globally, the rapidly depleting freshwater catchments, the dwindling
forest cover, the ever reducing fish stash in our seas and oceans and farmland dereliction are some of
the effects resulting from human occupation and activities. Poaching, another human activity, is
resulting in the extinction of certain animal species thus ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Sustainability is a model that has been developed to ensure that human life is not threatened by
continuing depletion of the natural resources. This model has also been adopted in order to ensure that
the ecosystem is protected. Sustainability is being promoted in order to ensure that human beings and
the environment coexist within certain set restrictions so as to ensure that the ecosystem continues to
support life. In addition, this model ensures that humans understand the relationship which manages
the balance between their activities on the ecosystem. Through sustainability, human beings will be
able to utilize the available natural resources sparingly with the view that future generations are
depending on it too (Maria and Luciana 3). Some of the renewable sources of energy are solar,
hydropower, biomass and wind. The use of these energy sources ensures that the ecosystem remain
self serving and thus able to sustain human life (Diane and Shubhayu 12). The uptake and use of solar
energy is yet to be fully utilized because in America, the percentage of people using this energy is
minimal. In the United States, solar energy represents almost a half of one percent of the total
electricity use, a number that is insignificant (Diane and Shubhayu 12). The human population is yet
to realize that solar energy can be used extensively in both heating and lighting. Moreover,

Through the implementation of Collectivization and the 5 year plans, it can be seen how Stalinism
impacted upon the economy, and thus the Soviet State. Although collectivization and the 5 year plans
were a success, Stalinism faced its primary negative impact through these polices; the Bureaucracy.
This is a system of government in which lesser members of political parties make most of the
important decisions or control the happenings of the state. The peasants were the ones carrying out
Stalin s policies; however, they were working for nothing, which resulted in quotas not being met,
forcing the Bolshevik in charge of that sector to lie. Plans were developed to try and contain the
bureaucracy. Alexei Stakhanov allegedly cut 16 times the normal amount of coal in one shift. Stalin
and the government used this to provide ideological incentive for the workers, thus inventing the
Stakhanovites . Despite this however, the bureaucracy was to remain, serving as the foremost negative
impact to Stalinism. Stalin s unquestionable dominance over the Bolshevik party and their actions
highlights the impact of Stalinism

Hepatitis C Is An Inflammation Of The Liver Caused By A
Hepatitis C is an inflammation of the liver caused by a virus. It was discovered about twenty eight
years ago. The liver is very essential to life because it has many important functions in our bodies.
Hepatitis C is a blood borne virus. Hepatitis C is not a virus that you can visibly see unless you run a
blood test and discover it in the blood. Hepatitis C is contagious but it is treatable and is considered
cured if the virus is no longer detectable in your blood. Considering that some of the Hepatitis C
symptoms are similar to other viral symptoms, the doctor has to diagnose the patient to officially
confirm the virus. Hepatitis C is easily spread and is most common in teenagers and adults. The most
common ways to spread Hepatitis C is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Nwakamma stated, Routes of infection include organ transplantation, IV drug use, sexual contact,
exposure to blood, perinatal transmission or occupational exposure (Nwakamma). Organ
transplantation was one of the first ways scientists were able to determine the cause of Hepatitis C.
Another more common way Hepatitis C is still being spread is by IV drug use. If a IV needle is
contaminated with infected blood, that can cause the person using it to get hepatitis C. When people
are injecting drugs into their bodies using someone else s needle, they are putting themselves at high
risk to contract any infectious virus. Infectious viruses are not visible on objects but they are visible
once they enter in your bloodstream. The formation of the virus is identified as a positive stranded
RNA. Nwakamma makes a similar point about the description of the virus by stating, The Hepatitis C
virus is a small, enveloped, single stranded RNA virus of the family Flaviviridae, and has a genome of
approximately ten thousand nucleotides coding for structural proteins (Nwakamma). Once the
Hepatitis C virus binds to a cell surface receptor that leads to viral entry into the host cell. Due to
Flaviviridae being an RNA virus, it cannot replicate in the nucleus. Patients whose condition with
Hepatitis C becomes chronic often have a hard time producing insulin. In accordance with the

The Pros And Cons Of Single-Sex Schools
Single Sex School
Single sex education is where education is carried out where female and male students attend classes
in separate schools or buildings. This was a common practice before the 20th century especially in
higher education or secondary education. Religion or tradition mainly advocates this type of education
(Wiseman 180). Lately, there has been an increase of interest and establishment of this kind of schools
due to research on education. My interest in single sex schools is to establish the reason why they are
formed, find out if they achieve their intended purposes as well as compare their performance on the
educational level in comparison with mixed schools. This paper is important to my potential reader as
he or she will be able to understand the different types of education systems across the world the
debates surrounding such formations the reasons behind their formation and how effective or
ineffective each model is. This paper will give a short history of single sex schools and discuss their
pros and cons. Single sex schools allow teachers to gender specific strategies that would not have
worked well in mixed gender settings, hence boosting performance, reduce distractions and
disciplinary cases, but they are effective if the resources available to each gender are comparable.
Single sex schools are motivated by religious ideas that propagate sex segregation and also believe
that different sexes behave and learn in different ways and can do better in a

The Importance Of Winning The Grand Slam
People love others to recognize their accomplishments. In the military, people wear their
accomplishments in medals on their jackets. The greatest honor for a scientist is to win the prestigious
Nobel Prize. For Tennis, one of the highest goals is to win the Grand Slam, The term ... first used in
1933 by the American journalist John Kieran (Wood). The Grand Slam consists of four tournaments:
Australia Open, French Open, Wimbledon, and the US Open. There are several events: singles, men

win all four tournaments in your category. Winners are showered with fame and glory making this

The English began their championship 1877, oldest of all four and even the world. They began

main court for the games. Despite the other countries switching to different types of courts, England
sticks with traditional grass tennis courts. They saved the best for last, or maybe it s just my bias as an
American but the Us Open is the last event of the Grand Slam. The tournament started competing in
Newport, Rhode Island in 1881. Through the years, it transitioned to Queens, New York in the late
1970s; only two years after the tournament adopted its present name. It actually was elsewhere in the
state of New York before calling New York City its home. Another interesting thing about the US
Open is their experimentation of different court terrains, until finally settling with hard court like the
Australia Open. A tennis player or players might win one Slam but they must win all four to achieve
the honor of winning the Grand Slam. They must be able to play on different turfs and in different
environments. It is not an easy task and that s why only the best win. Each Slam in unique like the

Understanding Of Terrestrial And Cosmological History Essay
While I did approach Big History: Connecting Knowledge with an intent to gain a greater
transdisciplinary understanding of terrestrial and cosmological history, in retrospect I can see that I
have more so gained from the critical thinking aspects of the course and in particular the four claim
tester tools: (1) Intuition, (2) authority, (3) logic, (4) evidence. As Jenny Duke Yonge comments in her
lecture segment How do we decide what to believe? in which she introduces the claim tester tools:
Even our best scientific theories are subject to revision in the light of new evidence. So, although what
you re being presented with here is the best scientific knowledge we have now, it may turn out that
some of it s false. It s very likely to turn out that it s at least incomplete. So as well as providing you
with information through the course, we want to provide you with tools to help you deal with
information effectively, to help you be selective and discerning about the kinds of things you believe.
These questions are important for us because our society is one in which we are constantly bombarded
with information from a variety of often conflicting sources. Certainly when adopting a
transdisciplinary approach and being presented with vast quantities of mind boggling and headache
inducing information, it is very easy to become seduced by knowledge that seems to offer a shortcut
and comfortable explanation, but which could in actuality be the completely wrong solution,

The Transformation Of Macbeth s Character
As Innocent flower, (Shakespeare 25) Macbeth begins to change drastically, developing a completely
new identity, his transformation is quite obvious as he goes from innocent to the serpent under [the

caught going against his moral beliefs as he represses all emotions that are caused by his actions in
killing; consequently, the guilt that is accumulated inside of him begins to take over, caused by the
initial push which began his redevelopment. Simply stated, Macbeth s obsession in gaining power

thought of not having courage is lodged into Macbeth s head as he becomes aware that he is Letting I

Cyrus the Great Essay
Brice Woodard
HIST 1110
February 7, 2012
Cyrus II of Persia, also known as Cyrus the Great, was one of the most influential and powerful rulers
in the Ancient World.¹ By overthrowing the Assyrian empire, he was able to start the Persian Empire.
Through his superior diplomacy skills within his empire, to his genius war tactics, he built the
foundation for a line of Persian Kings to rule one of the largest empires in world history.
Cyrus the Great s(C. 600 530 BCE) expansion started in Persia, located on the southern portion of the
Iranian peninsula, Cyrus conquered the Medes, led by King Astyages, circa 559 BCE in the northern
part of the peninsula. From there, he moved into Ecbatana to take over the Medes. He united the them

The cylinder is written in Babylonian script stating that Marduk, the city god of Babylon, had looked
for a champion to restore Babylon to it s old ways, and chose Cyrus, King of Persia, and declared him
king of the world. ⁹ Marduk ordered Cyrus to rule over the tribes of Iran justly, and to march on
Babylon which was uncontested, and the King of Babylon surrendered and the people of Babylon
rejoiced for Cyrus as their king.
Cyrus had set himself apart from other rulers by compromising with his empire rather than forcing his
entire will on them. He accomplished this by allowing people that had been moved from their
homeland to return, most notably allowing the Jews to return to Jerusalem after Nebuchadnezzar had
them exiled and held captive in Babylon.⁴ On top of them returning, Cyrus also encouraged them to
rebuild their temple, which was also one of his finer qualities.
During his conquests, he would allow the people to keep their religions and cultural differences, while
allowing them to part of the Persian Empire. While Cyrus did allow these freedoms, he also was able
to create an empire wide trade network as well as a commanding
Woodard 3 army due to an overall agenda that allowed him to keep his people happy while allowing
his empire to expand. By allowing the Jews to return home and build a

Fire Department Pros Analysis
Introduction
After several years of a hiring freeze, the Fire Department(FD) is seeking to expand its firefighting
personnel ranks by recruiting approximately 1000 candidates to be eventually hired. Currently, the
Fire Department is predominantly male Caucasian of either Irish or Italian descent in a long history of
dedicated fire fighters which goes back generations. Contrastingly, a significant number of minorities
have been unable to meet the expectations of the FD s outdated recruitment practices which lack
standardized procedures hence, few minority (women, African Americans, Hispanics) firefighters.
Now, the city s estimated population is 1 million of which, about 30% are racial of ethnic minorities

Specifically, neutral policies or practices that unevenly or unfavorably effect any protected class
qualifies as employment discrimination (EEOC, n.d.).
In the past, women outperformed all candidates in exams despite failing the physical exams.
Ultimately, more white candidates dominated the civil service list from where appointments came for
years, the few minority candidates that passed never made the hiring list and women were have never
been hired. Based on the FD s statistics, there is compelling evidence indicative of both racial and
gender discrimination against racial minorities and women, in recruitment, testing, selection, hiring
and promotion to support the disparate impact theory (Guerin, n.d.). Therefore, as a representative of
the city, it is my recommendation that the FD cease and desist from sole use of word of mouth
recruitment and the continued use of flawed essay based exams as this would prove a pattern of non
compliance with EEOC along with potential legal recourse (U.S. Department of Justice, 2015, p. 2).
Recruitment campaign improvement recommendations
The essay based questions should be developed by an independent party with assistance from both city
and Fire Commission representatives. Following a literature review section of an International
Association of Firefighters (IAFF) study, it was concluded that the best recruitment technique for
minority recruitment was targeted recruitment consisting of the following (Fox, Hornick,

The Great Depression Of The 1930s
The Great Depression of the 1930s is notably one of the greatest crises of American history. During
this time frame the American economy collapsed in great part because of factors such as the existence
of massive wealth inequality, the dust bowl that started in the Great Plains, and the rampant business
speculation of the 1920 s. These factors helped turn an awful economic depression into what would be
called an all out social crisis. Bread lines and soup kitchens became a common occurrence in
American cities. Thousands of families were evicted from their homes everyday, and took to the
streets hoping for some type of assistance. Throughout this time of struggle many American citizens
took to writing the white house and its officials in an ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The men of the family were less likely to write the white house because of their fear of being looked
at as weak or incapable of providing for their family. This fear is shown in several of the letters,
including a letter written by a mother to President Roosevelt. In the letter the mother asks for money
to help feed her family and concludes the letter with stating, if my husban new this he could Kill me.
In chapter three of the text by McElvaine there is a letter that stands as an example of a female
American citizen pleading to the first lady for clothes. However, what differentiates this letter from the
majority is that this individual is not asking for her family, but asking of a spring coat for herself. In
this letter the woman by the name of Mrs. J.T. addresses the first lady at the time, Eleanor Roosevelt,
as My Dear Friend . This intimate greeting supports the idea that the American population at the time
felt as though the Roosevelt s understood the daily struggle of living through the depression. These
citizens were comfortable confiding in them and sharing their hardships. A belief that the government
including the Roosevelt s would provide much needed relief to the country came with this sense of
comfort and intimacy. Not all American citizens, however, wrote to the white house in need of clothes
or money. The Works

Macbeth is Not Well-intentioned Essay
Macbeth is Not Well intentioned
Macbeth is a well intentioned character whose downfall is caused solely by the evil advice and
influence of other characters. To what extent do you consider this statement to be true?
In William Shakespeare s, Macbeth, Macbeth is a character whose downfall is caused by a number of
factors. Despite Macbeth being portrayed as a brave, masculine soldier, he is easily persuaded by his
wife, Lady Macbeth and the witches who deliver prophecies to Macbeth. Macbeth, while being a
victim of this influence, constantly hides his inner ill intentions and makes tragic and consequential
decisions that result in his subsequent downfall. Macbeth is not well intentioned and his downfall is
not caused solely ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Another illustration of Macbeth s ill intent that he attempts to conceal is when he describes, I have no
spur to prick the sides of my intent, but only vaulting ambition or in other words, he cannot negate or
curb his evil intent as he is possessed, if you like, by vaulting ambition. Using the aforementioned
illustrations, we can see how Macbeth only illustrates a minimal amount of good intent and thus, one
can say that Macbeth is not a well intentioned character.
Whilst Macbeth is a strong, respectable and courageous character, he is easily influenced by other
characters such as the witches and Lady Macbeth. When the witches deliver their prophecies to
Macbeth, he misinterprets them and states, concerning the third prophecy, I will not be afraid of death
and bane till Birnam forest come to Dunsinane. The witches, whilst not helping Macbeth s cause in
anyway do not tell Macbeth to commit any crimes, as is the case when they prophesy to Macbeth,
Beware Macduff , they do not directly force Macbeth to murder Macduff s family but do strongly
influence him. Lady Macbeth attacks Macbeth s masculinity and negatively influences him in this
way, Look like the innocent flower but be the serpent under t. Despite the fact that Macbeth is strongly
influenced by these characters, they are not the sole reason for his downfall. Macbeth himself

Greek Idealism In Greek Culture
Imagine a perfect world where everyone in the nation spoke the same language, shared a common
worldview and was culturally united. This would be the Ideal world that the Greeks strove for and
succeeded in. Greek idealism is not how the world really is, but rather, a perfect ideal world, which
was the answer to their success. The ideas of the Greeks were created from their mind as opposed to
external reality composed of other outside forces. Throughout the paper, I will highlight specific
examples of idealism in the Greek culture, by focusing on their philosophy, art and literature. The
awakening of philosophical thought in Greece started in 600 B.C. (Messner 10 2 17). The mind and
the spirit were viewed as the two most powerful factors of someone. With the mind and the spirit, the
possibilities were endless. With these assets, they were able to portray their love of wisdom.
Philosophy is the ponder of the everyday life and what is happening in the world (Messner 10 2 17).
The idealists of the philosophical world reasoned that the physical world is illusory and that behind it
lies a realm accessible only by contemplation (Humanities, 67). A specific example of philosophy, is
Plato s take on the Western ideal philosophy. In his philosophy he emphasizes the importance of
values and ideas, over matter (Humanities, 69). In Plato s eye, education and knowledge are very
important (Messner, 10 6 17). This is important because it helps us understand for ourselves the real

Essay about In Support of Hybrid Cars
To hybrid or not to hybrid, that is the question Hybrid electric cars are the wave of the future. At this
point, the human race does not really have a choice anymore: we must act now to prevent further
warming of our planet. With global warming graduating from theory to fact, and in the wake of some
of the most devastating storms our civilized world has ever seen, I strode into a nearby Honda
dealership to see what kind of advancements are being made in the Hybrid electric vehicle field.

As I arose from my seat of the car eagerly waiting to sign anything that Noel, my friendly sales
associate, could put in front of me to get me behind the wheel of the superb Civic, I remembered why
I was here and asked to test a hybrid Civic. My preconceived notion of hybrid cars is the disdainful
appearance of the underachieving Honda Insight, the 1/3 of Honda s hybrid fleet that is considered by
many to be the ugliest car on the road. With this in mind I allowed Noel to lead me towards the green
sales area, as he called it. He showed me a hybrid Civic identical to the one I was just finished driving,
other than the HYBRID name plate on the back and funky Insight ish wheel covers. The same
futuristic curves on the hood and mirrors, the same trendy box shaped trunk, and the same grill that
almost looks like its smiling at you. Even the turning radius, 34.8 feet, is the same. The main
difference is the sticker price which was about $3,000 more.

Comparing and Contrasting Two Learning Theories
Comparing and contrasting two learning theories
One of the simplest and most commonly used methods of conceptualizing learning is that of
reinforcement theory (Noe 2010: 142). Every time a parent promises a child a toy for being good
during a grocery store trip or threatens a teen with being grounded for bad grades, he or she is using
reinforcement theory. Reinforcement theory is based upon the assumption that people want to
experience as much pleasure as possible and avoid pain. Thus, businesses offer workers bonuses for
good work, and issue reprimands (such as docking pay or denying a promotion) for poor behavior.
The formal method of instilling learning through reinforcement theory is to use a schedule. According
to a fixed schedule, a person is rewarded for performing the behavior a specific number of times;
according to a continuous ratio schedule, the reward occurs after every behavior, and according to a
variable ratio schedule, the reward does not occur with any predictable consistency when the behavior
is performed. The advantages of fixed and continuous rewards are that the behavior is more quickly
instilled. The advantage of a variable schedule is that the behavior is less quickly extinguished, given
the subject anticipates getting a reward for a longer period of time (Noe 2010: 143).
Reinforcement may be effective in encouraging people to perform relatively rote tasks, but most
organizations require more complex forms of behavior to function. People must be

  • 2. How Does John Keats s Poetry Reflect the Romantic Era Essay Explain how the poetry of John Keats reflects the values of Romanticism. The Romantic Era spanned roughly between 1798 and 1832 and its poetry places an emphasis on the imagination, nature and feeling. The Romantic period was associated with imagination as people looked with fresh curiosity into the workings of their own minds, generating ideas that laid a foundation for modern psychology. Romanticism emerged out of the rational thought of the Enlightenment Era into a redemptive and inspiring period. John Keats was born at the beginning of Romanticism making him a significant figure in the expression of these values. His poetry was a great example to the Romantic era and his poems; When I have fears that I may cease to be and Bright ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Keats s When I have fears that I may cease to be represents the major key concepts of Romanticism values through his use of the significant metaphor that is linked with the natural world. Before my pen has glean d my teeming brain symbolises the pen as a tool for harvesting and Hold like rich garners the full ripen d grain , is the product that is finalised from all the hard work on the field. Keats reflects his hard work of poetry to the importance of nature and compares it to harvesting to visualise the method of producing these products. With the importance of nature that has been comprehensively characterised in the poem, Keats poetry has shown to be effectively reflective to the values of Romanticism. John Keats contributed Romanticism in the Bright Star by emphasizing the redemptive qualities of a star which purified his inner body and he connected this to expressing his beauty and inspiration of the love he felt towards his fiancé. His imagination in this poem is a great example of the poetry during the Romantic Age. Keats is dissatisfied with mortality and longs for eternal life, Bright star, would I were steadfast as thou art . Here Keats is revealing his inner thoughts and feelings to the bright star and is comparing his short life to the star s perminence in life. He also gives the star human qualities through the use of personification, And watching with eternal lids apart, Like nature s patient, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 4. The Soviet Union Of Soviet Republics Since the dissolution of the Soviet Union in 1991, former Soviet republics have been forced to undertake the harrowing task of achieving stability for their citizens and developing their own identities independent from the former hegemon. Some, such as Poland, have been successful in this regard, while others, such as Georgia, have been less fortunate. For Ukraine, a vast agricultural country with centuries old ties to Russia, answers to the questions of stability and identity have been uncertain ones. In spring 2014, following the Ukrainian Revolution in which pro Russian president Viktor Yanukovych was deposed and replaced by Olexander Turchnyov, Russian forces invaded Crimea after signing an accession treaty on March 18. Throughout the year, this conflict escalated with violence between pro Russian militants along with Russian forces and Ukrainian military and thousands of deaths. The violence in Crimea, where Russians have an ethnic majority of 58%, and eastern Ukraine began to dissipate in late September when Russian military commenced a withdrawal from Ukraine. The violence intensified again in early November when pro Russian separatists in eastern Ukraine held new elections supported by Russia and denounced by Ukraine, the United States, and the European Union. This is an issue that has vast economic repercussions for powerful eurozone countries such as Germany, whose GDP growth rate fell to 0.4% in the second quarter, and who has 300,000 jobs that rely on Russian ... Men and women now have equal rights, which means women can work at any job they would like, have a right to vote, and do not have to live under any rule of their family. Back in 1450 2000 circa people would live under very tight ruling where you either follow the rules or die. There were a few similarities as well as differences during this time in Western Europe and the Middle East. In 8000 600 CE in Greece only men are capable of perfection; women secluded. Rome would have Paterfamilias. Paterfamilias are strict authority centered around the oldest male. Women have influenced family and public lives as a mother or daughter. Around 600 1450 CE women could own and inherit property, enter religious life as nuns, run households, while men were away, and lower class women had more freedom. Upper class women increased in education and divorce easier for women to file. In 1914 present men and women are almost equal. Women played a greater economic role in WWI and WWII. • 6. Questions and Answers Regarding Equilateral Triangles Since the centroid of a triangle lies along each median, 2/3 of the distance from the vertex to the modpoint of the opposite side, we have: ■(t=2/3∙√3/2∙c=c/√3;@u=2/3∙√3/2∙b=b/√3.) And in this case (1) becomes (2): 〖3s〗^2=b^2+c^2 2∙b∙c∙cos(A+60°). Expanding the cosine of the sum, we have (3): cos(A+60°)=cos(A)/2 (√3∙sin(A))/2. Substituting (3) into (2) yields to (4): 〖3s〗^2=b^2+c^2 b∙c∙cos(A)+√3∙b∙c∙sin(A). Now we will apply the Law of Cosines to ∆ABC (5): a^2=b^2+c^2 2∙b∙c∙cos(A). And recall (6): 2∙S_∆ABC=b∙c∙sin(A). Substituting (5) and (6) into (4) gives us (7): 3s^2=(a^2+b^2+c^2)/2+2∙√3∙S_∆ABC As (7) is symmetrical in a,b and c, it follows that the triangle connecting the three centroids is equilateral: IH=GH=GI=s=√((a^2+b^2+c^2)/2+2∙√3∙S_∆ABC )/√3=√((a^2+b^2+c^2)/6+(2∙S_∆ABC)/√3). The Napoleon s triangle is equilateral. Proved. Answer: Proved. Rotating by the point: Fix the point I as the center of rotation and rotate the entire figure by 120°, and superimpose the rotated copy on the original figure. Uder rotation the ∆CAF maps to itself (C maps to A, A maps to F, F maps to C and I maps to itself). Points BB, DD, EE, GG and HH are the images of the points B, D, E, G and H, respectively. Because of this he triangle ∆A.EE.BB= ∆BCE. Connect D to EE and G to HH. By the rigidity of the rotation, ∆GHI=∆GG.HH.I. In particular GH=GG.HH. Consider the six triangles that coverge on point A. • 7. The Story behind Diamonds Diamonds are one of the most popular minerals in the world and yet people are not aware of the circumstances it takes to acquire this such unique mineral. Many people would agree when I say that this mineral is such a nice thing to look at, but few people actually know what it is made of and how it was formed. These precious minerals are composed of Carbon. The process to making this immaculate mineral is as following. First, you must bury Carbon dioxide deep into the earth; approximately, 100 miles deep. Second, you must heat the substance at a temperature of 2,200 degrees fahrenheit. Next, squeeze or tightly compact the substance under pressure of 725,000 pounds per square inch. Finally, it must quickly rush to the earths surface to cool off. All this must be done just to create diamond. Luckily for some men, scientist have created an alternative of the mined diamonds, it is a synthetic diamond composed of the same things and look almost identical. So if you re planning to pop the big question soon you have options with that part of the proposal. When you think of the price of real diamonds you might think that they are pretty expensive and what makes them so special. Along with its looks, it is a rare mineral that still has a high demand. The places where you can find high concentrations are usually far away. As a matter of fact, the location that has the largest concentration of diamonds is in central and southern Africa. It is reported that they have 49% of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Differences Between Jamestown and Plymouth Plantation Captain John Smith and William Bradford have influenced and impacted the nation back in history and even today. It all took place in the 1600 s, history in the past. Both men helped shape and create colonies and they also kept documents of the times. One was influenced by a person and the other was influenced by dramatic personal experience. Both men had convenient ideas and plans that lead into strong leaderships. John Smith was accompanied with 40 other men who were sent on a voyage that lasted 4 months. The voyage wasn t any pleasing, men would get sick and there wasn t any fine food provided for them. Although, the leader did have his own stash of food for himself, but that didn t last because the leader sadly died. Along with the president, 50 crew members died from starvation, due to less food. The men still continued the long voyage while they blamed the council for not thinking properly because the conditions were horrible and the voyage was longer than expected. As they got to the land after that long lasting voyage, they got to land and everyone settled down. In John Smith s journals, he kept his stories in the 3rd person point of view. Red Imported Fire Ants How to identify ants, In the United States, imported fire ants currently inhabit all or parts of Alabama, Arkansas, California, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Missouri, Mississippi, New Mexico, North Carolina, Oklahoma, Puerto Rico, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, and Virginia. They are discovered sporadically in Maryland. The red imported fire ant has also been accidentally introduced to other countries. Imported fire ants will likely continue to spread throughout much of the southern portion of the U.S, and other parts of the world where climate conditions are suitable. They vary in color from a dull black or reddish yellow color to a combination of black and dull red or reddish orange. Why do fire ants bite Fire ant is the common name for several species of ants in the genus solenopsis. They are, however, only a minority in the genus, which includes over 200 species of Solenopsis worldwide. Solenopsis are stinging ants and most of their common names reflect this, for example, ginger ants and tropical ants. Many species also are called red ants because of their light brown color, though species of ants in many other genera are similarly named for similar reasons. Examples include Myrmica rubra and Pogonomyrmex barbatus. None of these names applies in all countries nor to all species of Solenopsis, only to Solenopsis species; for example the colloquial names for several species of weaver ants in the genus Oecophylla in Southeast Asia include fire ants because of their red color and painful sting he two genera, however, are not closely related. • 14. Hester Prynne Symbolism In The Scarlet Letter, Nathaniel Hawthorne uses Hester Prynne to provide an audience with ethical lessons. Caught for committing adultery, the protagonist of the novel transforms her life through dealing with her punishment. Using symbolism and evident themes, the author clarifies the meaning of his work, which is to teach a moral lesson, making him a contemporary author. In the beginning of The Scarlet Letter, Hester s society treats her like a convict for committing adultery, as it is considered a sin. Due to this, people alienate Hester, which significantly magnifies her shame and loneliness. By doing charitable works around the community, Hester attempts to atone and repent for her sin of committing adultery. However, the people who benefit the most from Hester s humanitarian works respond with ungratefulness and bitterness. During this ordeal, Hester progressively becomes wiser by interacting with other people. For example, Hawthorne states, She shuddered to believe, yet ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It also proves that Hester does not only accept her punishment, but is able to transform it from an reminder of past mistakes, to a token of self growth and newly acquired wisdom. While he was travelling in the west, after meeting his wife, he ran into Nicholas Black Elk, the Ogalala holy man, and would bring his visions to the world. The original book was published in 1932, and sold millions all over the world. The idea of the book was to recognize that not all Native Americans are going to kill you, and that it could introduce the idea of dreams with perceptive understandings. While this incident is happening, Red Cloud is trying to make peace with the white men so they aren t enemies. In the book Black Elk talks says in the book That winter one of our boys climbed the flagpole and chopped it off near the top. This almost made bad trouble; soldiers surrounded us with their guns; but Red Cloud, who was living there, stood right in the middle without a weapon and made speeches to the Wasichus and to us. He talked about the Ogalala tribe and how they wanted to move places and hunt buffalo in a different area, and that was why he was in Soldiers Town at the time. Black Elk speaks of another time when he had a vision while he was away from his camp and he wasn t sure what to do at the time so he kept doing his thing. He tells of a story he had with his father while they are out hunting, where he tells him to wait for the animals to come to him and not chase the deer. Essay Impact of Stalanism on the Soviet State The concept of Stalinism, being the ideologies and policies adopted by Stalin, including centralization, totalitarianism and communism, impacted, to an extent, on the soviet state until 1941. After competing with prominent Bolshevik party members Stalin emerged as the sole leader of the party in 1929. From this moment, Stalinism pervaded every level of society. Despite the hindrance caused by the bureaucracy, the impact of Stalinism was achieved through the implementation of collectivization and the 5 year plans, Stalin s Political domination and Cultural influence, including the Cult of the Personality . Although during this time period, famine and forced labour occured, the 5 year plans were a success. Through the implementation of Collectivization and the 5 year plans, it can be seen how Stalinism impacted upon the economy, and thus the Soviet State. Although collectivization and the 5 year plans were a success, Stalinism faced its primary negative impact through these polices; the Bureaucracy. This is a system of government in which lesser members of political parties make most of the important decisions or control the happenings of the state. The peasants were the ones carrying out Stalin s policies; however, they were working for nothing, which resulted in quotas not being met, forcing the Bolshevik in charge of that sector to lie. Plans were developed to try and contain the bureaucracy. Alexei Stakhanov allegedly cut 16 times the normal amount of coal in one shift. Stalin and the government used this to provide ideological incentive for the workers, thus inventing the Stakhanovites . Despite this however, the bureaucracy was to remain, serving as the foremost negative impact to Stalinism. This would be the Ideal world that the Greeks strove for and succeeded in. Greek idealism is not how the world really is, but rather, a perfect ideal world, which was the answer to their success. The ideas of the Greeks were created from their mind as opposed to external reality composed of other outside forces. Throughout the paper, I will highlight specific examples of idealism in the Greek culture, by focusing on their philosophy, art and literature. The awakening of philosophical thought in Greece started in 600 B.C. (Messner 10 2 17). The mind and the spirit were viewed as the two most powerful factors of someone. With the mind and the spirit, the possibilities were endless. With these assets, they were able to portray their love of wisdom. Philosophy is the ponder of the everyday life and what is happening in the world (Messner 10 2 17). The idealists of the philosophical world reasoned that the physical world is illusory and that behind it lies a realm accessible only by contemplation (Humanities, 67). A specific example of philosophy, is Plato s take on the Western ideal philosophy. In his philosophy he emphasizes the importance of values and ideas, over matter (Humanities, 69). In Plato s eye, education and knowledge are very important (Messner, 10 6 17). This is important because it helps us understand for ourselves the real world ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 32. Essay about In Support of Hybrid Cars To hybrid or not to hybrid, that is the question Hybrid electric cars are the wave of the future. At this point, the human race does not really have a choice anymore: we must act now to prevent further warming of our planet. With global warming graduating from theory to fact, and in the wake of some of the most devastating storms our civilized world has ever seen, I strode into a nearby Honda dealership to see what kind of advancements are being made in the Hybrid electric vehicle field. Keeping in mind what a typical college student might be looking for in a car: pleasing aesthetics, affordability and low maintenance cost, I present you my findings on the Honda Civic LX, compared with the Honda Civic Hybrid model. When the salesman ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... After a 20 mile free ride I returned to the dealership and noticed the arrow on the fuel gauge was still up over the F. Honda published a 30/40 city/highway estimated MPG for the Civic, easily eclipsing the Environmental Protection Agency s recommendation for small sedans. As I arose from my seat of the car eagerly waiting to sign anything that Noel, my friendly sales associate, could put in front of me to get me behind the wheel of the superb Civic, I remembered why I was here and asked to test a hybrid Civic. My preconceived notion of hybrid cars is the disdainful appearance of the underachieving Honda Insight, the 1/3 of Honda s hybrid fleet that is considered by many to be the ugliest car on the road. With this in mind I allowed Noel to lead me towards the green sales area, as he called it. He showed me a hybrid Civic identical to the one I was just finished driving, other than the HYBRID name plate on the back and funky Insight ish wheel covers. The same futuristic curves on the hood and mirrors, the same trendy box shaped trunk, and the same grill that almost looks like its smiling at you. Even the turning radius, 34.8 feet, is the same. The main difference is the sticker price which was about $3,000 more. Noel explains a few things about the hybrid ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 33. Comparing and Contrasting Two Learning Theories Comparing and contrasting two learning theories One of the simplest and most commonly used methods of conceptualizing learning is that of reinforcement theory (Noe 2010: 142). Every time a parent promises a child a toy for being good during a grocery store trip or threatens a teen with being grounded for bad grades, he or she is using reinforcement theory. Reinforcement theory is based upon the assumption that people want to experience as much pleasure as possible and avoid pain. Thus, businesses offer workers bonuses for good work, and issue reprimands (such as docking pay or denying a promotion) for poor behavior. The formal method of instilling learning through reinforcement theory is to use a schedule. According to a fixed schedule, a person is rewarded for performing the behavior a specific number of times; according to a continuous ratio schedule, the reward occurs after every behavior, and according to a variable ratio schedule, the reward does not occur with any predictable consistency when the behavior is performed. The advantages of fixed and continuous rewards are that the behavior is more quickly instilled. The advantage of a variable schedule is that the behavior is less quickly extinguished, given the subject anticipates getting a reward for a longer period of time (Noe 2010: 143). Reinforcement may be effective in encouraging people to perform relatively rote tasks, but most organizations require more complex forms of behavior to function. People must be ...
