Comparing Cummings The Enormous Room And Hemingway s
In The Autobiography of Alice B Toklas, Gertrude Stein mentions many artists and writers that she
had a relationship with. From artists like Picasso and Cézanne to writers like Hemingway and E.E
Cummings, Stein had a large yet interesting group of friends and even more interesting things to say
about them. She speaks the fondest of the people like Picasso who she likes best and does not say
much about other artists like Cézanne who she is not very fond of. E.E Cummings Book The
Enormous Room is not only original and interesting like Stein states, but it can be used to better
understand Steins The AutoBiography of Alice B. Toklas. In the last chapter of The Autobiography of
Alice B Toklas, Stein mentions both her s and Hemingway s opinions ... Show more content on

Cummings and Stein have more similarities than one thinks, for example, their writing styles are both
difficult to understand when first reading but they are both effective in conveying their message
whether their ways are unconventional or not. It is evident that Cummings background in poetry
influenced the prose style of his writing. For example chapter, two begins with I put the bed roll down.
I stood up. I was myself. (page 62). Not only does this resemble poetry because of the imagery
portrayed by just these few words but it also effectively conveys his message. They are also similar in
their writing styles because they both use portraits to portray the people that surround them. While
Cummings focuses on describing their physical appearance to paint a picture of both the characters
mental and physical state, stein uses the painters and writers work as well as their physical appearance
to paint this picture. Reading Cummings novel made it easier to understand Steins writing style
because they are both similar in the sense that they are both breaking the mold by using
unconventional punctuation and syntax. It also makes the reader appreciate it for its uniqueness and in
a way it is like art because she and Cummings both reject the traditional autobiography format and
make their writing their own. Stein uses Alice B. Toklas as her voice and Cummings uses his narrator
who he calls C. I also understand better why Stein chose a different voice to write this piece that can
be considered her autobiography just as much as it can be considered Toklas . It is because it give a
different kind of authority to this writing and makes it seem less

The Is Synonymous With The Concept Of Industrialization
Corporatization is synonymous with the concept of industrialization. When one thinks of an industrial
park, the picture of a sprawling landscape of large businesses comes to mind. The image of a
community of self sustaining mom and pop shops certainly doesn t fit the bill of what is commonly
thought of to be industrial. We more commonly think of large corporations like Monsanto and
Walmart as symbols of the adjective. In the case of the food industry, the advent of larger grocers,
larger agricultural labor contractors, and more advanced food distribution systems presents a large
amount of evidence to suggest that the food industry has become more corporate and industrial.
McMillan provides a solid background of the history of grocers in the United States. She specifically
points out King Kullen as an early innovator in the industry, stating of the time before King Kullen,
Most women would go to the A P for dry and canned goods, handing their shopping list to a clerk who
would portion out everything from bulk bins and shelves, and hand back the goods over a counter
(McMillan, 106). With this business model, it s very difficult to grow a very large business. This
model is extremely labor intensive, as a clerk had to obtain each item for a customer themselves,
making it so that a grocer could only serve a limited number of customers in one day. In the days
before King Kullen, this greatly restricted the size that a grocer could grow to. McMillan also points to

Factors of Google s Company Strategy
Google
1. Political Factors
Government stability is very important part of a Google s strategy, indeed, government stability is an
important filed to help country s company improve their profits. For example, if the country s
government has comparatively stable and buoyant equity capital market, government will commit to
help business. Thus, Google s ads will be more actively, therefore, it should be quite a profitable deal
for Google. Furthermore, the vast majority of the legislatures do not have recognized law for online
data sharing. So, government authorized opportunity to operate laws. But, Google users reported the
general, uncensored version of the search engine was obstructed that forbid Google in many parts of
China. For instance, surveillance system Golden Shield project by the Ministry of Public Security
division of the government of China and started in 1998 and officially began in 2003, for monitoring
civilian use of Internet (KLEIN, 2008).
Government political factors also have positive effect on Google such as employment policies, tax
policies and environment protection policies.
2. Economic Factors
GDP or (Gross Domestic Product), it measures all fianl goods and services produced in a country in a
given period of time. GDP has a major affect to Google s profits. GDP increasing annually countries
such as UK, India, South Africa and China since the averagely 70 s and this may lead to positive

Why Is African Wild Dog Endangered
The African Wild Dog, or Lycaon pictus is currently under the endangered status, and poses as a huge
concern for conservationist groups. The species has become endangered due to human development,
habitat fragmentation, and disease such as canine distemper, which has caused a drastic reduction in
population size to less than 6000 individuals remaining in the wild. This loss of this species, which is
currently only found in several southern countries of Africa, serves as a large threat to the functioning
of it s ecosystem. Lycaon pictus serves the role of keeping several species population sizes in check
via predation, but also serves as the source of food for several other species. One conservation plan
that has been proposed is the preservation

Persuasive Speech About Puppets
Alright. So here you are in your backs. Let your legs go out. Alright friends. And If it s comfortable let
your legs go out long so knees are not bent. And your arms at your side. These are all the little ways
we protect ourselves. Take a moment to just luxuriate in the fact that you re lying down on the floor.
You re not standing. Close your eyes. And give over to gravity do the work. What a gift. How is this
different? How do you feel? And then Take your body mind s eyes inwards and downwards. Tuning in
to your imagination and picture that diaphragm of yours. The silky parachute. Tuning in to the rhythm
of your breathing. The parachute flies down towards your legs. Just take a minute to notice the
different direction because you re in a different position. Now I m going to bring in a picture of a
Marioness. Someone who plays with puppets works with puppets. The Marionettess attaches a string
to your right knee and pulls ever so gently upward so your foot drags along the floor till your foot is
flat on the floor and the knee is facing the ceiling. The Marionettess attaches a string to your left knee
and pulls up up up to wards the ceiling. Your foot is gliding along the floor. And now your foot is flat
on the floor and your knee is bent. Puppet master comes over and wants to help you more. She pulls
your left knee over your belly. Your knee starts to glide towards the ceiling. Your foot is flat on the

I M the King of the Castle
I am the King of the Castle The novel begins on a deathly note. Three months before the main events
of the story, the grandmother of the Hooper household dies. Her son Joseph then refuses to live at
Warings, the family home, until he owns it, i.e. until his father dies and he inherits it. This tells the
reader knows immediately that the relationship between Joseph and his father is poor. Soon afterwards
it b ecomes clear that the relationship he has with his own son is no better. Communication between
Joseph and Edmund Hooper is limited and a cause of some concern to Joseph. Edmund s mother died
six years previously. This has not made him sensitive to death, and on seeing his dying grandfather he
remarks coldly, All he looks like is one ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The crow is gone when he comes back from the bathroom in the morning. Nothing is ever said about
the incident. Hooper actually feels impressed that Kingshaw kept his cool, but becomes even more
determined to find ways to get to him. His next move is to take him to the Red Room. Kingshaw finds
the moths and smell of preservatives oppressive and is reluctant to enter. When he finally does go in,
Hooper runs out and locks the door. Kingshaw tries to escape via the windows but they are locked so
he can t get out; he is on the edge of panic. He finally escapes when the adults find him. He makes
excuses and runs away quickly without telling on Hooper. He is violently sick in the bathroom.
Despite the signs, the adults don t notice that anything is wrong and think the boys are becoming
friends. At this stage Kingshaw is finding life at Warings intolerable. He longs for his school, where he
is happy and comfortable. Chapter Four Hooper goes on a daytrip to London with his father. Joseph
attempts to deliver a stern speech, and is insistent that Hooper should make more effort to befriend
Kingshaw. His son listens silently but continues to plan ways to inflict further terrors. Meanwhile back
at Warings, Kingshaw finds a room on the top floor to hide away in. He likes the room because it

Turkey As A Country State
Turkey Turkey in my opinion is one the most underrated countries in the eastern world. It is a
beautiful country with an expansive culture and society. Turkey is essentially the bridge of where the
East meets the West in that area of the world. Founded in 1923, Turkey to this day is one of the only
country in the world with a Muslim Democracy. Its interesting political history combined with the rich
culture that resides in Turkey creates a very unique nation states. But how exactly did Turkey become
the nation state it is today, and what even makes it a nation state in the first place? These are questions
that must be addressed in order to truly understand Turkey as a country. In order to look at the history
of Turkey, we have to understand what a nation state truly is. It isn t quite the same as either a nation
or a state, but somewhere in between. A state, according to An Introduction to Global Studies, is a
fixed territory with boundaries, a population, a government, and the capacity to enter into relation with
other states (Campbell et al, 32). While this description sounds awfully similar to a nation, there are
actually some key differences. A nation is actually a shared culture or ethnic identity, instead of being
legally recognized by geography. Nations are not based on territory, but instead based on culture. So,
with these differentiations between a nation and a state, a nation state is a nice blend of the two. A
nation state is a very specific kind of state,

Stephen Crane Irony
Imagery, irony, and structure all has major influences on describing the effects of war. When it comes
to telling about wars it s important you make an impact on your readers, and this can be done in
several ways. It s often seen writers use imagery to display the effects war had on not only the men
themselves but their families also. Imagery is shown very effectively when it is said that people were
shooting them in the back and shooting/ them more times necessary to actually kill them (Powers).
The most common viewpoint of the war was told from the stories of what actually place in war, and
the killing aspect of it all. People were shot in the head (O Brien).
Another way to uncover the effects of war was irony. They use irony to make the readers stop and
think about the difference between what is expected and what is actually said. It was said that these
men were born to drill and die (Crane 8). The irony of this is we as the readers know that men are not
born to actually drill and die . ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There are many different approaches taken through the structure of a poem or short article. Writer
Stephen Crane repeats Do not weep./War is kind. (Crane 4 5). As shown this phrase is repeated four
times throughout the poem. This is thoroughly repeated to make the readers think about the phrase. It s
almost like the author is trying to persuade someone to go into war but then saying to not go. This
poem shows how war affects a family, and not only affects the man, their son. Another popular
example of structure is run on sentences. In The Yellow Birds the whole passage is a run on sentence.
It all one thought, that never ends. It is shown through him saying What are you going to do?, but
really it doesn t matter... (Powers). This really shows how war affects someone mentally. This is an
ongoing thought, never ending. Imagery, irony, and structure are three main ways to display the effects
of someone and also kind of advertise certain

The Self Reference Effect On Mother
The extensibility of the self reference effect to mother
Organism used the sense of self to distinguish itself from the immediate external environment
(Neisser, 1988). The idea of extended self suggested that the self was not limited to the body but also
incorporate with self relevant information (Kim Johnson 2012). The self object associations was
developed as far back as early childhood, which showed that ownership was important in cognition
(Cunningham, Turk, Macdonald, Macrae, 2008). Three research have investigated the association
between ownership and cognition. In the study done by Cunningham et al. (2008), participants took
part in a shopping experiment. They were required to move the stimulus items into a basket owned by
self or a basket owned by another participant. The memory for items in both baskets was assessed.
They found that participants were significantly recognized more of the objects that moved to the self
owned basket than to the other owned basket. The pattern of the improvement in recognition memory
was similar to the self reference effect. The self reference effect suggested that information encoded
with reference to self enjoyed a memory advantage compared with the information related to another
person because of the enrichment in the representations of the self relevant objects, and hence the
recognition and the memory was improved (Cunningham et al., 2008).
In the study done by Kim and Johnson (2012), participants participated in the

Women In Cannery Lives
Sean Gibson
HIS 10 B
15 August 2016
Since the Gilded Age, workers, especially women, had been fighting for union rights and workers
rights. By the 1930s, unions had made substantial progress in the industrial workforce. The American
Federation of Labor (AFL) had been around for more than fifty years, and it organized labor
movements and union groups. However, the AFL did not recognize the problems of agricultural jobs.1
Cannery Women, Cannery Lives, by Vicki Ruíz, shows the poor working and living conditions of
Mexican women who worked in agriculture and explains how and why they created and structured
unions in agriculture, without the initial support of the AFL. This book focuses on the 1930s, an era
when both Mexicans and women were ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Seventy five percent of the workforce was made up of women,9 and most of these women were
Mexican. These Mexican women faced extremely harsh treatment while working. The three biggest
problems these women had that they wanted to get rid of by unionizing were the pet system, when
male employees and supervisors would favor women they liked or went out with,10 the piece rate
system, when workers get paid by their work accomplished, not by the hour, and the supervisors, who
would constantly watch the women and make sure they were working hard.11 Women particularly
hated these three systems, especially since they are discriminatory. Also, the piece rate system would
make it hard to get consistent pay. All of the strenuous work would of course make the workers sore,
and soon their workload would slowly start to decrease. Furthermore, it is hard to design the piece rate
system in such a way that women would get about the same amount of money men who are paid by
the hour. In addition to discrimination, the jobs were often dangerous, as Julia Luna Mount stated,
After work, my hands were red, swollen, and I was on fire! 12 These working conditions inevitably
made the labor force create the United Cannery, Agricultural, Packing, and Allied Workers of America
(UCAPAWA). Most of the members in this

The R Assessment Is An Early Childhood Environment Rating...
The ECERS R assessment is an early childhood environment rating scale that assesses group
programs serving children ages two through five. The assessment incorporates seven categories that
focus on the various interactions that take place within a classroom setting. They include interactions
with environment, teachers, parents, and other children. The ECERS R emphasizes the inclusion of
children with disabilities and cultural diversity. For this assessment, the chosen facility is the
Cornerstone Center for Early Learning. This facility serves children six weeks to five years old, but in
this assessment, the designated classroom only included children ages three to five. The funding for
this facility includes a mixture of parent contribution and three government programs that include
USDA, Head Start, and State Tuition Assistance. Cornerstone is a private facility due to its tuition
costs and parent contribution. The teaching philosophy of this facility is to enhance the potential of
each child through a higher level of care. After completing the assessment, a predetermined formula
calculated a final score for each subunit. The category on Space and Furnishings received a final score
of 6.13, due to the facilities well organized and usable spaces. This category received high marks on
most of the subunits. One strength within this section includes the warm and inviting classroom, along
with its designated spaces. The classroom included areas for reading, blocks, art,

The Bible Is Full Of Wisdom And Folly
The Bible is full of wisdom and folly. This essay will evaluate the concepts of diligent people in
Hebrew wisdom being wise, while the lazy person is a fool. The major part of the essay will
concentrate in Proverbs, but we will review some scriptures from Ecclesiastes. Proverbs was written
by Solomon, and he wrote it out of concern for his children. Ecclesiastes is said to have been written
by Solomon, but this is not certain. Both books can be used by all for guidance, regardless of their age.
Proverbs in general concentrates on moral virtues, and the opposite, their vices. The main theme of the
book is the fear of the Lord, as it is seen fourteen times in Proverbs. Ecclesiastes main theme is life
without God is empty, pointlessness and without meaning. There are a lot of contrasting chapters and
verses comparing the differences between being wise and foolish, the wicked and righteous and the
lazy and hardworking. Both books mainly concentrate on the contrasts between evil and good and
foolishness and wisdom. So, let s look at some verses and relate the concepts, describe and compare
them to being diligent (wise) or laziness (foolish).
In Proverbs 15:19 it says The way of a sluggard is like a hedge of thorns, but the path of the upright is
a level highway (ESV). This saying corroborates the points of Proverbs concerning the directives that
diligence is the way of the wise and the path with less resistance. But the path of laziness is
foolishness and filled with trouble,

Zoos Should Be Banned
Imagine walking through the zoo as a child, thinking how awesome it is to see all of those big
interesting animals you would never get to encounter in the wild. Now think of walking through the
zoo when you are older seeing these same animals in a very different light. Instead of seeing animals
happily living their lives you see animals wandering aimlessly around their small enclosures looking
bored to tears and depressed. Is it fair that we keep these animals cooped up specifically for our own
entertainment? What right do we have to capture, contain, and breed these precious animals as we
please? Why should we get to control their lives when they could obviously be living a better life
elsewhere? Often these questions are meet with responses of conservation and education, but in reality
those defenses have little backing. No animal should be forced to live in captivity for its whole life,
which is why zoos should be banned since they are truly unjust to the animals living in them. The first
and most obvious sign of being treated unjustly is the size of the animals enclosures. Sure the
enclosures may seem large at a glance, but they are definitely not measuring up to the miles and miles
of freedom that the animal would have in the wild. Especially for traveling animals such as elephants
this creates a large problem. These animals are known to travel approximately thirty miles per day in
the wild, and have no chance of doing that in the spaces they are confined to in zoos

Sectionals Reflection
One day on May 11, 2017 during IHSA 3A Ottawa sectionals for track and field, I was running the
400 meter dash and the 4x4 meter relay. I was mainly focused on my main event which was the 400
meter dash because my goal was to qualify for state. Coming into this race, I already knew I had a
disadvantage because I was assigned to lane 8 but I had mentally prepared myself days before
sectionals. I m standing at the starting line ready to give my all and hoping to make it to state. The gun
is shot to start the race, and within 120 meters left of my race I see my competitors gaining a lead off
the curb. I mentally start to tear down because I expected myself to keep up with them. At the end of
the race I kept my composure even though I wanted to cry on the inside. This was a challenging
moment for me, I worked hard everyday in practice to miss qualifying for state by 2 seconds.
My coach walked over to me and told me that the people I was running with were fast, so was I. He

Analysis Of The Poem Eve Of Her Daughters And ...
The two poems I have chosen to analyze are Judith Wright s Eve to Her Daughters (992) and Robert
Browning s Porphyria s Lover (642) and what they have in relation to one another. I will be examining
the dramatic monologue form that takes place in both poems and how it could present the image and
possibility for coercion. I will discuss how, with the utilization of dramatic monologue, we as the
audience, experience the speaker s world with a glimpse into their personal perspectives alongside
with their mentalities. Furthermore, I will highlight the similarities and differences between the
poems, how both poems interact with one another, and what we can comprehend with both poems that
would not be possible if viewed separately. In regards to Judith Wright s Eve to Her Daughters (992)
this poem is coming from a coercion place of female oppression. Whereas, Robert Browning s
Porphyria s Lover (642) coercion place comes from one of compulsion to enforce his will upon his
lover Porphyria.
In Eve to Her Daughters the speaker is Eve and we, as the audience, are her daughters listening to her
story and guidance. The dramatic monologue we thereby envision is all through Eve s eyes and
therefore, we are able to experience what she is experiencing. The casualness of this poem and with
Eve s little jabs regarding Adam, But Adam, you know...! (8) makes it seem as if Eve is genuinely
speaking to us as if we were truly her daughters and that we personally are familiar with how

Future On Mars Research Paper
A Future on Mars
Overpopulation and sustainability are growing concerns for the future of Earth. Time is running out on
Earth as population continually increases. Such a large population will put a strain on Earth s
resources and environment. Fortunately, there are many ways in which people are working to lessen
and slow these issues on Earth. Despite their efforts, it is still evident that a future on Earth will be a
precarious one, so alternate options are being explored. Elon Musk, founder of Space X, has proposed
a plan to colonize Earth s neighboring planet, Mars. NASA, Mars One, and several other corporations
have also expressed similar interest in colonizing this planet. Mars would not be a replacement for
earth, but instead it would ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
What will this future Martian colony be like? At this point, so much is still subject to change;
however, there are several ideas for the colony regarding structure and government. NASA has
released their plans for what the colony might entail: an astrobiology lab, a food growing facility, a
place for spare parts, all docked together. At the end, there s a small village for future Mars explorers,
ready as a home base for exploring the deep mysteries of the planet (Wenz). This plan reveals that the
future of Mars is going to be about everyone working together as a whole. It has been suggested by
many that this idea of oneness should also carry over into how the government on Mars will be run,
with decisions being made collectively and requiring unanimity (Mars One). Jacob Haqq Misra, an
astrobiologist at the Blue Marble Space Institute of Science, believes that the future Mars colony
should be completely independent of Earth, I propose that we liberate Mars from any controlling
interests of Earth and allow Martian settlements to develop into a second independent instance of
human civilization . Cultural independence could help Martians think differently enough to solve
problems that the people of Earth continue to struggle with such as working together to fight global
environmental problems, or making long term plans of humanity. Overall, the future for the Martian
colony, even though it is not yet concrete, has quite an optimistic

The Importance Of A Family Intervention For Heart Failure...
Extraneous variables are undesirable variables that influence the outcome of an experiment, though
they are not the variables that are of actual interest (Grove, Burns, Gray, 2013). Family influence
could be an extraneous variable that would need to be addressed. Establishing a family intervention
would control this extraneous variable. There are few family intervention studies for heart failure.
Many patient education guidelines promote inclusion of family in teaching heart failure patients. The
structure and nature of family relationships are important to mortality and morbidity. It is clear that

Analysis Of Orange Is The New Black
Orange is the New Black by Jenji Kohan has been streaming on Netflix since July 2013 by the
production company Lionsgate Television. The television show is about the main character Piper
Chapman who just got in jail. She is serving time at Litchfield Penitentiary, a federal prison for
women in upstate New York, for drug smuggling with her ex girlfriend (Alex) a couple of years ago.
When Chapman goes to prison she is reunited with Alex, even though their relationship goes through
ups and downs as the time goes by. The main focus of the television show is to present a public
discourse about the criminal justice system, particularly incarceration in the United States. Through
the social cognitive theory and the agenda setting theory one is able to see how Orange is the New
Black draws attention to different issues within our incarceration system, specially imprisonment of
women. From the social cognitive theory aspect, the filmmaker has communicated an acceptance
towards distinctive identities by having a variety of characters in the show. Apart from this, agenda
setting theory comes into play when particular issues within imprisonment are presented, like solitary
confinement was throughout many episodes. These can be further examined and analyzed looking at
all the elements Jenji Kohan implements in her scripts to open up a public discussions about social
issues. In regards to social cognitive theory, one is looking at the fact that people learn by observing

Parody In Medusa
The classical tradition in the medieval times has an articulate work of art should stand by itself
without the need of interpretation. As one literally scholar would state, the classical era states that
interpretation is ambiguous, and does not always prevail . Yet, now in our society, art s interpretation
can be one or all: a parody, an abstract, a pastiche, or non art. Pain and suffering constituted things
with which for him to identify. His own family had made a grueling transition from the war and
turmoil ravaged areas of Prussia (now Czech) Although many of his works have become instantly
recognizeable, famous in their own right, the distinct themes of the classical tradition s work have no
direct meaning. The classical ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As Gericault referenced a tragic, contemporary event in The Raft of Medusa from 1819, The classical
tradition referenced events at the very time they occurred (see 127 Die in Jet , Tunafish Disaster ) . For
him, the borderline between simulated time and actual time was blurry and often nonexistent. Whether
events, people and things were real or not became debatable However flip and casual his observations
may have been, their credence (in this light) cannot be denied. The act of parody had very nearly
become his denouemont, an all too shocking reality, as well as History. As such, The classical tradition

widely used in the field of visual art and literature. The term derives from the military term, advanced
guard or vanguard and it reflects this movement s role in art history as well. By nature, this movement
was meant to be controversial desiring to challenge the traditional art and the society as a whole. In
the realm of the arts world, works of the Avant Garde carried characteristics which represented
pushing of the boundaries of what is accepted as the norm as well as tearing down the status quo.

European Imperialism
European industry changed drastically in the nineteenth century with technological advances and
political turmoil. The unification of new nations gave rise to new industrial leaders as well as new
empires fighting over ruling land in Africa and Asia. These newer nations competed with older nations
for worldwide economic and political influence. To compare how newer nation states such as
Germany rivaled with older countries like England, it is important to consider the degree of which
politics, industry, and imperialism made each similar to or different from the other. Great Britain
appeared to be the ideal of liberal progress. Two groups emerged within the government, the Tories
(Conservatives) and the Whigs (Liberals). Peaceful political reform and a flexible party helped with
smooth decision making in government. In fact, the entire nineteenth century was associated with the
term Victorian in England. Moreover, Great Britain began to imperialize on a larger scale. Instead of
only overseeing trade, they decided to take control over the political and economic aspects of certain
countries as well. The East India Company was set up to further develop their trading empire in Great
Britain, however was later used to take full control over a monopolized India. In response to company
rule, Indian soldiers revolted; however, the revolt was quickly squashed and India became a
possession of the British crown. While England was gaining territory in Asia and Africa, they began to

Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease
CHRONIC OBSTRUCTIVE PULMONARY DISEASE Have you ever known a person who smokes
and has a hard time doing every day activities, due to difficulty of breath, or constantly coughing. He
or she may have Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease, or COPD. COPD is a progressive and
treatable lung disease that causes shortness of breath due to obstruction of air way (COPD, 2013).
Progressive means that is gradually gets worse over time. It is a combination of chronic bronchitis and
emphysema (Causes,2014). Chronic bronchitis is inflammation of the bronchioles, which causes
mucus build up (Davis,2016). Emphysema is when the air sacs get enlarged (Smoking, 2016). Since
the disease does not have a cure yet it is important to know pathology (path of disease), epidemiology
(who is effected in a population), ethology (who is effected genetically), manifestation (symptoms),
treatment, and outcome.
First step preventing COPD is to know how it affects the body and the path taken; this is called the
pathology. In normal, healthy breathing a person breathes in air that is moves through the bronchial
tubes to the bronchioles. At the end of the bronchioles there are air sacs called alveoli. The alveoli are
elastic air sacs that control the gas exchange of oxygen and carbon dioxide to the body (Smoking,
2016). The alveoli consist of elastic tissue so when a person breaths in the the alveoli can expand and
when the carbon dioxide is released it can deflate and return to it s normal size.

Lord Of The Flies And Human Nature Essay
Human nature defines the general psychological behaviors of humans when in a primitive or natural
state. In the movies and books in this course human nature is a very prevalent theme and controls the
events throughout. In The Mist by Stephen King, the characters start out with their civility and slowly
break down and do things that show they will do anything to survive. In Lord of the Flies by William
Golding, the boys get stranded on an island and use a form of order to keep their civilized lives intact
but soon turn to savagery and destruction. Another example of human nature is in the short story film
of The Shelter from The Twilight Zone. The neighbors in the 1960 s are great friends until there is

They begin with electing a leader that will guide them to survive and eventually be rescued. This
character is Ralph, and he stands for civilization and wanting to be saved from this tragedy. Only days
after this so called election, a few boys realize they need to hunt and kill for meat to survive. They lose
all thought of being rescued. Just within a matter of days these boys were a group of savages, dancing
around fires, sharpening hunting and killing spears, and attacking Ralph and whoever else continued
to live with a civilized manner. These boys were finally free of any adult supervision or authority and
wanted to act like human nature intends, with the thought of living at the top of the food chain and
surviving in the face of death being their only priority. Towards the end of the story the group of
savage boys, who called themselves a tribe, murdered the character Piggy . This character represented
the hope of civilization for the stranded group of boys. He was the only one who saw their situation
for what it really was. When he was killed, Ralph even lost hope and began to fight and run to survive.
The only reason these boys survived was the eventual coming of the military that spotted the forest
fires being started by the tribe to burn out and murder Ralph. Once they saw an actual adult again they
all broke down and regained their vision on what they had all done on this island. This just shows how
easily it is to wade in and out of civility when under the

Sexism In Mary Shelley s Frankenstein
In Mary Shelley s Frankenstein (1818), the characterization of women is based on the rigid gender
division in eighteenth century Geneva. Shelley depicts the social status of women in contemporary
London by presenting the female characters as ineffective to the public sphere. Male characters in
Frankenstein are categorized as scientists, politicians and explorers, leaving women confined to the
home as mere companions, wives and often caregivers. By upholding women s views of the familial,
Shelley illustrates the patriarchal social system, which favor men over women. The division highlights
Shelley s portrayal of women s passivity; hence the disposal of the female characters in the novel

Lincoln and His Generals by T. Harry Williams Essay
Lincoln and His Generals by T. Harry Williams
Harry T. Williams was born on May 19, 1909. When in college, he was encouraged by a professor to
study history. This professor s main interest was the Civil War era and had a great effect on Williams.
He attended Platteville State Teachers College (later Wisconsin State University at Platteville) where
he received a B.Ed in 1931. Williams continued education into graduate school was mainly due to the
lack of work during the Great Depression. He went on to earn a Ph.M. in 1932, and Ph.D. in 1937,
from the University of Wisconsin (Dawson 431).

When Lincoln interacted with Scott, he showed a deference for Scott s age and knowledge. Thus
allowing Scott to share his skills, this humility was shored by General McClellan. Lincoln later
changes his approach towards McClellan, trying to boost his confidence and courage. Williams
continually shows McClellan as an egotist, who eventually replaced Scott as General in chief.
McClellan is depicted as unsure, indecisive, self centered and fearful of declaring war. Lincoln
continually defends McClellan but is not afraid of tactfully sending criticism his way. One could
easily be lead to believe that Lincoln was more of a placator. Williams shows us that Lincoln never
hesitated in making difficult decisions based on results. Lincoln s people skills are easily ascertained
in Williams writings. Lincoln seems keen at applying pressure as well as giving his generals a free
hand when necessary.
Williams shows an interesting side of Lincoln s patience that wears thin when there are no early
victories and from the lack of aggressiveness on the Union side. Williams shows a gradual
transformation on Lincoln s selection process. Initially each general was selected on characteristics
such as battle experience and political backing. As the enemy holds out and there is inaction, Lincoln
starts to doubt the ability of his generals and starts to seek generals who can win without excuses.
Williams captures the pressures that are placed

The National Hockey League Is lucky, in a Way What was once a major issue, fighting has taken care

The World s Wife By. Duffy
As suggested by the title of the anthology, Duffy s poems within The World s Wife place the focus on
women in an inherently patriarchal and male dominated world. This is also true of Mrs Beast , in
which Duffy reimagines the traditional fairy tale of The Beauty and the Beast to give Mrs Beast
dominance over her husband, as well as financial and emotional independence. The opening lines of
Mrs Beast set the tone for the rest of the poem, linking all of the characters mentioned throughout The
World s Wife , as well as listing many other women with stories that would fit the themes of the
sequence due to their exploitation by men. This acts as a warning to men from Mrs Beast, who sees
these women in herself, commenting: so when you ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This inversion of the traditional roles in a fairytale is also present throughout the rest of the stanza, as
Mrs Beast describes herself as no longer a girl, knowing my own mind, / my own gold stashed in the
bank, / my own black horse at the gates , demonstrating that she is able to take care of herself with no
need for help. Moreover, her financial and emotional independence is highlighted by the anaphora of
my own , with repetition similar to this used by Duffy throughout The World s Wife , particularly in
Little Red Cap . However, the effect of the use of anaphora in Mrs Beast contrasts with its effect in
Little Red Cap at the beginning of the sequence, which describes a girl progressing from innocence
and naivety at childhood s end to saving herself and becoming independent ten years later. Despite
these differences, both poems similarly reimagine fairytales, with Mrs Beast being what Little Red
Cap could grow up to become with her new found independence, as Mrs Beast demonstrates her
ability to take care of herself and be carried off at one wrong word, / one false move, one dirty look .
In juxtaposition with this, the Beast is presented as submissive and similar to a slave rather than as the
traditional handsome and arrogant prince of fairytales. He is treated and described as an animal
instead of a person, falling to his knees at the door for Mrs Beast and kiss(ing) her glove with his
mongrel lips , reflecting his

Penny Stock Trading Essay
As you probably already know, penny stock investing is very risky. In fact, it is probably the most
dangerous investing method of all. And it is also very profitable. Nothing beats being an owner of a
stock, whose share price went from $0.12 to $22 in a few weeks. But not every penny stock trading is
the same. There are as many techniques as there are investors, though we can identify three major
strategies that are the most common. You definitely should consider choosing one of them, and then
refining it further to match your trading style.
1. Cheap Stocks On Major Stock Exchanges
By common definition the shares of penny stocks are trading below $5. There are really many stocks
like that on major stock exchanges, like the New York Stock ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

2. Stocks On Over The Counter Markets and Pink Sheets
On over the counter (OTC) markets and Pink Sheets you won t find companies that were once big but
have fallen from grace. These penny stocks are usually really small startups with a share price below
$1. There are thousands of them, and you cannot ignore the research necessary to filter out those 95%
of them which are useless. OTC penny stocks have other kinds of risks altogether.
They are extremely illiquid. Not many shares are traded daily, so if you buy a stock on an OTC
market, later you may find yourself in a position that you simply cannot sell it for profit, because of
the low volume and a large spread between the bid and the ask price. You won t be able to find a
buyer.
The other risk is that the great majority of stocks on OTC markets are really low quality, junk stocks,
and only a few of them are worth further research. Knowing how to find the good ones is the key
point.
3. Ride The Pump And Dump
This is unquestionably the most dangerous strategy. Penny stock trading gets all the bad press
primarily because of the pump and dump schemes.
Pump and dump is a very common and unethical (even criminal) activity where scammers buy up the
majority of shares of a low quality OTC penny stock, and then they promote it heavily, so that gullible
investors buy the stock too, thereby driving up the share price. When the share price has rocketed, the
fraudsters simply

Informative Essay On Marilyn Monroe
Jacy Pringle
Mrs. Peter
11th LA
October 9, 2017
It is hard for a person to stay quiet when everyone knows your name, for Marilyn Monroe this was the
case; Monroe was everyone s new trend. Since her first breath Monroe was destined to have fame and
fortune, just from her looks. Life carried on for her in a less luxurious way then expected, her story is
essentially a reflection of Cinderella. As connections formed at a young age and talent was already
recognized, life kicked in like a rocket for Monroe from the moment she was born. Doors of
opportunity were constantly being opened for her. Singing Happy Birthday for JFK, and being Hugh
Hefner s first model are only things that Monroe can be responsible for (Jackson, Denny). Marilyn
Monroe s career may seem as if she made it all by herself; instead, she already had strong connections
to Hollywood through her mother s career, and the Kennedy s family name.
The iconic sex symbol of the 50 s has history unlike any other Hollywood superstar. Marilyn Monroe
was born into an unstable family, and soon later given up for adoption. However, two points don t add
up. Her mother Gladys Pearl Baker was involved in the film industry during her pregnancy with
Monroe (Jackson, Denny). Why would a film star abandoned her soon to be superstar daughter? The
un luxurious life of Norma Jeane Baker, a.k.a Marilyn Monroe, took place in foster homes and oddly
old parents . Monroe was unclear that connections through Hollywood were brewing as

Other accounts state that Ezekiel went to Babylonia where he kept in touch with Judah, thereby
addressing both communities in a single entry. Nevertheless, whether in Judah or Babylon, Ezekiel
continued to prophesize to the Judeans, before and after the exile of the remaining Hebrews. Before
the destruction of Jerusalem and the temple, Ezekiel prophesized about the total destruction of
Jerusalem, brought on by the Judean s guilt.
Ezekiel, at first, was a reluctant prophet. Unlike other prophets he was married, therefore had
responsibilities to people other than himself. The symbolic scroll, mentioned in the second and third
chapters of Ezekiel. But you mortal, hear what I say to you; do not be rebellious like the rebellious
house; open your mouth and eat what I give you. I [Ezekiel] looked, and a hand was stretched out to
me, and a written scroll was in it... (Cook 1187), was at first bitter but soon turned sweet. This was a
metaphor for God s words, which Ezekiel was reluctant to speak, that in time became easier to
swallow. Ezekiel after this point became the watcher of the house of Israel, responsible for their
survival (Howe 204). Ezekiel s call meant if the Judeans did not heed Ezekiel s word and repent, God
s wrath would overtake them. However, since the chief priesthood of the day, Zadokites, controlled the

Analysis Of The Book Ephesians
What is the significance of mentioning the coming ages? Where is this being addressed? Was there a
strong understanding of who Satan was? The genre of Ephesians is Epistles. Read the whole epistle in
one sitting to get the big idea of the letter and its main contours. Try to write a big idea/theme of the
book after reading it. Think in terms of the paragraphs being the main units of thought. Beware of
isolating verses from the paragraph. Knowing the structure of epistles helps you know where you are
in the letter. Do some background reading in order to understand better the epistle s main contours and
its historical and cultural setting. Paul wrote the book of Ephesians, while he was imprisoned. The
date that Ephesians was written is best dated between 60 90 AD, but closer to 90 since Ignatius is the
earliest known person to quote it. Traditionally it is understood that this letter was written to believers
in Ephesus of Asia Minor. Through this book Paul reveals who we are with and without Christ.
Ephesians discusses the topic of blending the Jewish and non Jewish Christians into one community.
The reoccurring theme in Ephesians is God s purpose and plan in offering redemption to His people
and the manifestation of that purpose in the life of the believer. Ephesians seeks to shape believers by
reminding them how wonderful God s work in Christ is, how significant their unity with Christ is, and
what living for Christ looks like. Redemption has made it possible for

Jaws Novel And Film Analysis
The lure of the sandy beaches appeals to people worldwide. Television shows, movies and the draw of
the beach lifestyle have a universal attraction that one can t help but want to visit. The sun, surf,
barbeques, nothing could ruin a day like that; nothing but a fin in the water. Most beach goers have not
experienced seeing a shark fin in the water, let alone a shark attack. Sharks may be in the close
proximity where humans are but they don t actively go hunting for humans. Media has fed into mass
hysteria and fear of sharks, leading to the mass killing and endangering of a vital creature to the
marine ecosystem. The original Jaws novel and film from the 1970s was very popular due to the way
it portrayed a huge, viscous, rogue, man eating ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Sharks are quickly becoming endangered due to killing and over fishing for a very expensive soup
known as shark fin soup. Over 100 million sharks are killed a year for their fins. Sharks fins can go for
as much as 300$ per pound. A law was passed in japan prohibiting bringing in fins of sharks without
them being connected to the spine. Thinking this would help stop shark finning, it did not however. It
only leads to gruesome deaths with fins still being brought in barely connect to the spine. According to
International Union for the Conservation of Nature, a third of shark species globally are threatened by
extinction, largely because of shark finning. So many sharks have died and are still not protected
because the public is scared of them when in all reality it is the sharks who should be scared of

Wound Dressing Research Papers
In order to achieve an effective healing of a wound, an appropriate material must be used to cover the
wound to prevent any infection. Due to new techniques, a wound dressing material is expected to have
very satisfactory properties in enhancing a healing of a wound. The wound healing time, wound type,
mechanical, physical, and chemical properties of the dressing must be taken into account when
designing an effective wound dressing (Zahedi, Rezaeian, Ranaei Siadat, Jafari Supaphol, 2009).
When choosing a suitable wound dress, there are several factors that must be taken into consideration,
such as creating an effective bacterial barrier, having no toxic or irritant particles, protecting
periwound area, producing as minimal pain as possible ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Hydrogels were the first biomaterials developed to use in the human body (Kopeček, 2007). As stated
by Sood et. al (2009), hydrogels are a very complex hydrophilic organic cross linked polymers which
consist of between 80 and 90% water base. An example of a commercial hydrogel is IntraSite® Gel,
developed by Smith and Nephew, shown in Figure 1 below. IntraSite® Gel is an amorphous hydrogel
and gently rehydrates necrotic tissues, helping autolytic debridement, and also is able to loosen and
absorb slough and exudate (Smith nephew.com, 2015).Hydrogels are able to absorb a minimum
amount of fluid by swelling, in addition they can moisturize a dry wound, thereby promoting autolytic
debridement and providing a moist thermally insulated wound. In addition, they are capable to reduce
the temperature of a wound by up to 5°C and promote epithelialization and granulation. However,
since they are permeable to gas and water, they are considered less effective bacterial barrier than
occlusive dressings (Sood et. al 2009). The main applications of hydrogels are the ability to donate
moisture to the wound, help disintegrate dry and dead tissue, and keep wound bed moist to help cell
growth (Covidien.com, 2015). Another benefit includes the ability to use them in conjunction with
topical medications or antibacterial agents. Regarding their drawbacks, they are unable to

The Decline Of The Reformation
The fact that the Renaissance took place before the Protestant Reformation was not a coincidence.
One of the major promoters of the Reformation was the availability of the Bible in the common
language of the people throughout Europe. Another was the growing number of people who were able
to read the Bible for themselves. Both the availability of printed material and the increasing literacy
rates were direct consequences of the Renaissance and thus fostered the Reformation that followed.
Without the events that took place during the Renaissance the Reformation may never have taken
place.
The Renaissance period was marked by a renewed interest in Classical culture, art, learning and
science. The Reformation was a religious movement which challenged the authority of the pope and
the Catholic Church, which until that time had been the only organized form of Christianity in Western
Europe. The Reformation began when Martin Luther nailed his 95 Theses, his list of grievances
against the Catholic Church s practices, to the door of a church. Luther s main disagreement with the
Church was over indulgences, the sale by the Papacy of remission of penalties imposed by God on
souls in Purgatory. He attached the theory behind indulgences that the Pope could make grants to the
faithful from the treasure of merits accumulated by Christ and the saints over and above what they had
needed for their own salvation.
The grievances that Luther had with the Church had been greatly nurtured by

Anne of Green Gables Essay
I read Anne of Green Gables by L.M. Montgomery. This book is about a young orphan child, with a
never ending imagination, named Anne. Anne has been taken in and out of orphanages all her life.
Until, one day Matthew Cuthbert and his sister, Miss Marilla Cuthbert, are interested in having a
young boy to live with them. They called the orphanage and told them to send the child on the train.
He goes to the train station to pick the child up, but to his surprise he found Anne. Anne tells Matthew
how she imagines living there would be like. She was so set on staying that Matthew just couldn t
leave her at the train station. He takes her to his house, and while on the journey, Anne is enjoying
every moment of the beautiful flowered valleys. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
She meets a new quot;bosom quot; friend Diana, not to mention all the other friends she meets in the
book. The setting helps make the story exciting. The setting is at Green Gables. Green Gables is a
beautiful place with wild flowers and animals. quot; The air was sweet with the breath of many apple
orchards and the meadows sloped away in the distance to horizon mists of pearl and purple; while the
little birds sang as if it were the only day of summer in all the year. quot; If the setting weren t so
lively, not many of the events would happen. An example would be when Anne goes through a
quot;haunted quot; forest with her friend Diana. This causes them to come together as really good
friends and they have to keep each other company to get off the matter that the forest is haunted. They
become really close through out the book. The way the author describes the setting seems to be an
important period in history. Also, the way she describes her school, what the teachers teach, the
dresses the girls wear, the things they use at school, and there were many other hints. The problems
and conflicts in the book were also a hint that helped me decide it was a historical fiction book. All the
problems seemed realistic to that time period. Such as the teacher had to teach the whole class, and
now, we have many teachers teaching many classes. I really liked the book. It was very enjoyable to
read. I would recommend it to my friends, because I think they

mentally challenged and is offered a way to be, normal through surgery, he is told that the procedure
may not work and might have horrible side effects and possible further problems. Charlie agrees to go
through with the surgery. It gives him a personality disorder, terrible dreams, and it also gives him
trouble connecting with people. Before the surgery Charlie didn t realize that people were making fun

I wanted to make love to Fay. He would probably stand in the doorway and watch. But the moment I

before the surgery. He feels as though he is two different people and the old Charlie is stuck in the
back of his mind. He has trouble getting close to people. He feels a panic as soon as he gets close to a
woman. He feels as if old Charlie is prohibiting him and watching his every move. He says, But then I
think Charlie is waiting at the window. His life is not mine to throw away. I ve just borrowed it for a
while, and now I m being asked to return it. (Keys 278) After the surgery Charlie can t sleep, I know I
should sleep, but I begrudge every second of waking time. It s not just because of the nightmares; it s
because I m afraid of letting go. (Keys 278) This shows that Charlie is afraid to sleep. He has

Eukaryotic Of Eukaryotic And Eukaryotic Genomes
I. Introduction
Perhaps one of the first lessons one is taught about bacteria is that they constitute the prokaryotic
domain of life, while humans and most other readily visible life forms are firmly rooted in the
eukaryotic domain. These domains diverged many millions of years ago from a common ancestor and,
while the eukaryotic branch later split into eukaryotic and archaeal domains, it maintained its
separation from the prokaryotic domain (Woese et al., 1990). Prokaryotic and eukaryotic genomes are
naturally very distinct in both content and structure as a result of eons long separation, and one tends
to classify these domains as very distinct entities.
However, there is increasing evidence of so called eukaryotic bacterial genes, or genes present in
bacterial genomes that have some sort of eukaryotic origin or function. These eukaryotic bacterial
genes are primarily of concern in determining virulence factors of human pathogens. As defined
below, bacterial genes can be evolutionarily or functionally eukaryotic, or both. Presence of either
type of gene would indicate some interaction between bacteria and eukaryotes, the most oft studied of
which are pathogenic interactions. Discovering eukaryotic bacterial genes is particularly important in
pathogens that secrete effectors to be taken up by host eukaryotic cells. These effectors tend to
modulate host cell functions, so there would be some logic in these effectors being encoded by
eukaryotic genes. Most research has been

The Effects Of Outdoor Sports Lighting On The Community
Can something as common as lighting cause enough contention to divide a community? In New
Providence the answer is a resounding yes. Without land available for the opening of new athletic
fields, there simply are not enough sports fields to meet the needs of the town s population. In an
effort to solve this dilemma, the proposal has been made by the New Providence Partnership for
Recreation (NPPR) to install lighting in Lieder Field. The benefits to the community include an
increase in hours each day the field may be used at no expense to the taxpayer. Yet, others in the
community believe that outdoor sports lighting would have a negative impact on the quality of life in
the community, be too costly and would diminish the property value of nearby homes. While athletic
field lights have been used in southern New Jersey without these negative impacts that part of the state
is significantly more rural than densely populated New Providence. Is athletic field lighting beneficial
for the town of New Providence? While there are always benefits as well as negative consequences for
community decisions, the benefits of installing athletic field lighting far outweigh the negative
ramifications.
Availability of Fields for Residents Use There is a growing need in the community for athletic fields,
yet there is not land available to build additional facilities. The NPPR believes installing Lieder Field
lighting would allow sports competitions to be held past dusk all year long,

  • 2. Comparing Cummings The Enormous Room And Hemingway s In The Autobiography of Alice B Toklas, Gertrude Stein mentions many artists and writers that she had a relationship with. From artists like Picasso and Cézanne to writers like Hemingway and E.E Cummings, Stein had a large yet interesting group of friends and even more interesting things to say about them. She speaks the fondest of the people like Picasso who she likes best and does not say much about other artists like Cézanne who she is not very fond of. E.E Cummings Book The Enormous Room is not only original and interesting like Stein states, but it can be used to better understand Steins The AutoBiography of Alice B. Toklas. In the last chapter of The Autobiography of Alice B Toklas, Stein mentions both her s and Hemingway s opinions ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Cummings and Stein have more similarities than one thinks, for example, their writing styles are both difficult to understand when first reading but they are both effective in conveying their message whether their ways are unconventional or not. It is evident that Cummings background in poetry influenced the prose style of his writing. For example chapter, two begins with I put the bed roll down. I stood up. I was myself. (page 62). Not only does this resemble poetry because of the imagery portrayed by just these few words but it also effectively conveys his message. They are also similar in their writing styles because they both use portraits to portray the people that surround them. While Cummings focuses on describing their physical appearance to paint a picture of both the characters mental and physical state, stein uses the painters and writers work as well as their physical appearance to paint this picture. Reading Cummings novel made it easier to understand Steins writing style because they are both similar in the sense that they are both breaking the mold by using unconventional punctuation and syntax. It also makes the reader appreciate it for its uniqueness and in a way it is like art because she and Cummings both reject the traditional autobiography format and make their writing their own. Stein uses Alice B. Toklas as her voice and Cummings uses his narrator who he calls C. I also understand better why Stein chose a different voice to write this piece that can be considered her autobiography just as much as it can be considered Toklas . It is because it give a different kind of authority to this writing and makes it seem less ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 4. The Is Synonymous With The Concept Of Industrialization Corporatization is synonymous with the concept of industrialization. When one thinks of an industrial park, the picture of a sprawling landscape of large businesses comes to mind. The image of a community of self sustaining mom and pop shops certainly doesn t fit the bill of what is commonly thought of to be industrial. We more commonly think of large corporations like Monsanto and Walmart as symbols of the adjective. In the case of the food industry, the advent of larger grocers, larger agricultural labor contractors, and more advanced food distribution systems presents a large amount of evidence to suggest that the food industry has become more corporate and industrial. McMillan provides a solid background of the history of grocers in the United States. She specifically points out King Kullen as an early innovator in the industry, stating of the time before King Kullen, Most women would go to the A P for dry and canned goods, handing their shopping list to a clerk who would portion out everything from bulk bins and shelves, and hand back the goods over a counter (McMillan, 106). With this business model, it s very difficult to grow a very large business. This model is extremely labor intensive, as a clerk had to obtain each item for a customer themselves, making it so that a grocer could only serve a limited number of customers in one day. In the days before King Kullen, this greatly restricted the size that a grocer could grow to. McMillan also points to agricultural ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 6. Why Is African Wild Dog Endangered The African Wild Dog, or Lycaon pictus is currently under the endangered status, and poses as a huge concern for conservationist groups. The species has become endangered due to human development, habitat fragmentation, and disease such as canine distemper, which has caused a drastic reduction in population size to less than 6000 individuals remaining in the wild. This loss of this species, which is currently only found in several southern countries of Africa, serves as a large threat to the functioning of it s ecosystem. Lycaon pictus serves the role of keeping several species population sizes in check via predation, but also serves as the source of food for several other species. • 9. Turkey As A Country State Turkey Turkey in my opinion is one the most underrated countries in the eastern world. It is a beautiful country with an expansive culture and society. Turkey is essentially the bridge of where the East meets the West in that area of the world. Founded in 1923, Turkey to this day is one of the only country in the world with a Muslim Democracy. Its interesting political history combined with the rich culture that resides in Turkey creates a very unique nation states. But how exactly did Turkey become the nation state it is today, and what even makes it a nation state in the first place? These are questions that must be addressed in order to truly understand Turkey as a country. In order to look at the history of Turkey, we have to understand what a nation state truly is. It isn t quite the same as either a nation or a state, but somewhere in between. A state, according to An Introduction to Global Studies, is a fixed territory with boundaries, a population, a government, and the capacity to enter into relation with other states (Campbell et al, 32). While this description sounds awfully similar to a nation, there are actually some key differences. A nation is actually a shared culture or ethnic identity, instead of being legally recognized by geography. Nations are not based on territory, but instead based on culture. So, with these differentiations between a nation and a state, a nation state is a nice blend of the two. A nation state is a very specific kind of state, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 10. Stephen Crane Irony Imagery, irony, and structure all has major influences on describing the effects of war. When it comes to telling about wars it s important you make an impact on your readers, and this can be done in several ways. It s often seen writers use imagery to display the effects war had on not only the men themselves but their families also. Imagery is shown very effectively when it is said that people were shooting them in the back and shooting/ them more times necessary to actually kill them (Powers). The most common viewpoint of the war was told from the stories of what actually place in war, and the killing aspect of it all. People were shot in the head (O Brien). Another way to uncover the effects of war was irony. They use irony to make the readers stop and think about the difference between what is expected and what is actually said. It was said that these men were born to drill and die (Crane 8). The irony of this is we as the readers know that men are not born to actually drill and die . ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... There are many different approaches taken through the structure of a poem or short article. Writer Stephen Crane repeats Do not weep./War is kind. (Crane 4 5). As shown this phrase is repeated four times throughout the poem. This is thoroughly repeated to make the readers think about the phrase. It s almost like the author is trying to persuade someone to go into war but then saying to not go. This poem shows how war affects a family, and not only affects the man, their son. Another popular example of structure is run on sentences. In The Yellow Birds the whole passage is a run on sentence. It all one thought, that never ends. It is shown through him saying What are you going to do?, but really it doesn t matter... (Powers). This really shows how war affects someone mentally. This is an ongoing thought, never ending. • 11. The Self Reference Effect On Mother The extensibility of the self reference effect to mother Organism used the sense of self to distinguish itself from the immediate external environment (Neisser, 1988). The idea of extended self suggested that the self was not limited to the body but also incorporate with self relevant information (Kim Johnson 2012). The self object associations was developed as far back as early childhood, which showed that ownership was important in cognition (Cunningham, Turk, Macdonald, Macrae, 2008). Three research have investigated the association between ownership and cognition. In the study done by Cunningham et al. (2008), participants took part in a shopping experiment. They were required to move the stimulus items into a basket owned by self or a basket owned by another participant. The memory for items in both baskets was assessed. They found that participants were significantly recognized more of the objects that moved to the self owned basket than to the other owned basket. The pattern of the improvement in recognition memory was similar to the self reference effect. The self reference effect suggested that information encoded with reference to self enjoyed a memory advantage compared with the information related to another person because of the enrichment in the representations of the self relevant objects, and hence the recognition and the memory was improved (Cunningham et al., 2008). • 13. Women In Cannery Lives Sean Gibson HIS 10 B 15 August 2016 Since the Gilded Age, workers, especially women, had been fighting for union rights and workers rights. By the 1930s, unions had made substantial progress in the industrial workforce. The American Federation of Labor (AFL) had been around for more than fifty years, and it organized labor movements and union groups. However, the AFL did not recognize the problems of agricultural jobs.1 Cannery Women, Cannery Lives, by Vicki Ruíz, shows the poor working and living conditions of Mexican women who worked in agriculture and explains how and why they created and structured unions in agriculture, without the initial support of the AFL. Seventy five percent of the workforce was made up of women,9 and most of these women were Mexican. These Mexican women faced extremely harsh treatment while working. The three biggest problems these women had that they wanted to get rid of by unionizing were the pet system, when male employees and supervisors would favor women they liked or went out with,10 the piece rate system, when workers get paid by their work accomplished, not by the hour, and the supervisors, who would constantly watch the women and make sure they were working hard.11 Women particularly hated these three systems, especially since they are discriminatory. Also, the piece rate system would make it hard to get consistent pay. All of the strenuous work would of course make the workers sore, and soon their workload would slowly start to decrease. Furthermore, it is hard to design the piece rate system in such a way that women would get about the same amount of money men who are paid by the hour. In addition to discrimination, the jobs were often dangerous, as Julia Luna Mount stated, After work, my hands were red, swollen, and I was on fire! 12 These working conditions inevitably made the labor force create the United Cannery, Agricultural, Packing, and Allied Workers of America (UCAPAWA). The ECERS R assessment is an early childhood environment rating scale that assesses group programs serving children ages two through five. The assessment incorporates seven categories that focus on the various interactions that take place within a classroom setting. They include interactions with environment, teachers, parents, and other children. The ECERS R emphasizes the inclusion of children with disabilities and cultural diversity. For this assessment, the chosen facility is the Cornerstone Center for Early Learning. This facility serves children six weeks to five years old, but in this assessment, the designated classroom only included children ages three to five. The funding for this facility includes a mixture of parent contribution and three government programs that include USDA, Head Start, and State Tuition Assistance. Cornerstone is a private facility due to its tuition costs and parent contribution. The teaching philosophy of this facility is to enhance the potential of each child through a higher level of care. After completing the assessment, a predetermined formula calculated a final score for each subunit. The category on Space and Furnishings received a final score of 6.13, due to the facilities well organized and usable spaces. This category received high marks on most of the subunits. • 15. The Bible Is Full Of Wisdom And Folly The Bible is full of wisdom and folly. This essay will evaluate the concepts of diligent people in Hebrew wisdom being wise, while the lazy person is a fool. The major part of the essay will concentrate in Proverbs, but we will review some scriptures from Ecclesiastes. Proverbs was written by Solomon, and he wrote it out of concern for his children. Ecclesiastes is said to have been written by Solomon, but this is not certain. Both books can be used by all for guidance, regardless of their age. Proverbs in general concentrates on moral virtues, and the opposite, their vices. The main theme of the book is the fear of the Lord, as it is seen fourteen times in Proverbs. Ecclesiastes main theme is life without God is empty, pointlessness and without meaning. There are a lot of contrasting chapters and verses comparing the differences between being wise and foolish, the wicked and righteous and the lazy and hardworking. Both books mainly concentrate on the contrasts between evil and good and foolishness and wisdom. So, let s look at some verses and relate the concepts, describe and compare them to being diligent (wise) or laziness (foolish). In Proverbs 15:19 it says The way of a sluggard is like a hedge of thorns, but the path of the upright is a level highway (ESV). This saying corroborates the points of Proverbs concerning the directives that diligence is the way of the wise and the path with less resistance. But the path of laziness is foolishness and filled with trouble, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 16. Zoos Should Be Banned Imagine walking through the zoo as a child, thinking how awesome it is to see all of those big interesting animals you would never get to encounter in the wild. Now think of walking through the zoo when you are older seeing these same animals in a very different light. Instead of seeing animals happily living their lives you see animals wandering aimlessly around their small enclosures looking bored to tears and depressed. Is it fair that we keep these animals cooped up specifically for our own entertainment? What right do we have to capture, contain, and breed these precious animals as we please? Why should we get to control their lives when they could obviously be living a better life elsewhere? Often these questions are meet with responses of conservation and education, but in reality those defenses have little backing. No animal should be forced to live in captivity for its whole life, which is why zoos should be banned since they are truly unjust to the animals living in them. The first and most obvious sign of being treated unjustly is the size of the animals enclosures. Sure the enclosures may seem large at a glance, but they are definitely not measuring up to the miles and miles of freedom that the animal would have in the wild. Especially for traveling animals such as elephants this creates a large problem. These animals are known to travel approximately thirty miles per day in the wild, and have no chance of doing that in the spaces they are confined to in zoos ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 18. Analysis Of The Poem Eve Of Her Daughters And ... The two poems I have chosen to analyze are Judith Wright s Eve to Her Daughters (992) and Robert Browning s Porphyria s Lover (642) and what they have in relation to one another. I will be examining the dramatic monologue form that takes place in both poems and how it could present the image and possibility for coercion. I will discuss how, with the utilization of dramatic monologue, we as the audience, experience the speaker s world with a glimpse into their personal perspectives alongside with their mentalities. Furthermore, I will highlight the similarities and differences between the poems, how both poems interact with one another, and what we can comprehend with both poems that would not be possible if viewed separately. In regards to Judith Wright s Eve to Her Daughters (992) this poem is coming from a coercion place of female oppression. Whereas, Robert Browning s Porphyria s Lover (642) coercion place comes from one of compulsion to enforce his will upon his lover Porphyria. In Eve to Her Daughters the speaker is Eve and we, as the audience, are her daughters listening to her story and guidance. The dramatic monologue we thereby envision is all through Eve s eyes and therefore, we are able to experience what she is experiencing. • 19. Future On Mars Research Paper A Future on Mars Overpopulation and sustainability are growing concerns for the future of Earth. Time is running out on Earth as population continually increases. Such a large population will put a strain on Earth s resources and environment. Fortunately, there are many ways in which people are working to lessen and slow these issues on Earth. Despite their efforts, it is still evident that a future on Earth will be a precarious one, so alternate options are being explored. Elon Musk, founder of Space X, has proposed a plan to colonize Earth s neighboring planet, Mars. NASA, Mars One, and several other corporations have also expressed similar interest in colonizing this planet. Mars would not be a replacement for earth, but instead it would ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... What will this future Martian colony be like? At this point, so much is still subject to change; however, there are several ideas for the colony regarding structure and government. NASA has released their plans for what the colony might entail: an astrobiology lab, a food growing facility, a place for spare parts, all docked together. At the end, there s a small village for future Mars explorers, ready as a home base for exploring the deep mysteries of the planet (Wenz). This plan reveals that the future of Mars is going to be about everyone working together as a whole. It has been suggested by many that this idea of oneness should also carry over into how the government on Mars will be run, with decisions being made collectively and requiring unanimity (Mars One). Jacob Haqq Misra, an astrobiologist at the Blue Marble Space Institute of Science, believes that the future Mars colony should be completely independent of Earth, I propose that we liberate Mars from any controlling interests of Earth and allow Martian settlements to develop into a second independent instance of human civilization . Cultural independence could help Martians think differently enough to solve problems that the people of Earth continue to struggle with such as working together to fight global environmental problems, or making long term plans of humanity. • 21. The Importance Of A Family Intervention For Heart Failure... Extraneous variables are undesirable variables that influence the outcome of an experiment, though they are not the variables that are of actual interest (Grove, Burns, Gray, 2013). Family influence could be an extraneous variable that would need to be addressed. Establishing a family intervention would control this extraneous variable. There are few family intervention studies for heart failure. Many patient education guidelines promote inclusion of family in teaching heart failure patients. The structure and nature of family relationships are important to mortality and morbidity. It is clear that those patients living alone are a vulnerable group to target. Isolation leads to depression, which could relate to poor self care behaviors. Family interventions have shown to improve outcomes and lower patient hospital readmission (Dunbar, Clark, Quinn, Gary, Kaslow, 2008). A research instrument is a survey, questionnaire, test, scale, rating, or tool designed to measure variables, characteristics, or information of interest. Several factors should be considered before choosing an assessment instrument: the purpose of assessment, the type of assessment outcomes, resource availability, cost, methodology, the amount of time required, reliability, and the audience expectations (Bastos, et al., 2014). The unification of new nations gave rise to new industrial leaders as well as new empires fighting over ruling land in Africa and Asia. These newer nations competed with older nations for worldwide economic and political influence. To compare how newer nation states such as Germany rivaled with older countries like England, it is important to consider the degree of which politics, industry, and imperialism made each similar to or different from the other. Great Britain appeared to be the ideal of liberal progress. Two groups emerged within the government, the Tories (Conservatives) and the Whigs (Liberals). Peaceful political reform and a flexible party helped with smooth decision making in government. In fact, the entire nineteenth century was associated with the term Victorian in England. Moreover, Great Britain began to imperialize on a larger scale. Instead of only overseeing trade, they decided to take control over the political and economic aspects of certain countries as well. The East India Company was set up to further develop their trading empire in Great Britain, however was later used to take full control over a monopolized India. Progressive means that is gradually gets worse over time. It is a combination of chronic bronchitis and emphysema (Causes,2014). Chronic bronchitis is inflammation of the bronchioles, which causes mucus build up (Davis,2016). Emphysema is when the air sacs get enlarged (Smoking, 2016). Since the disease does not have a cure yet it is important to know pathology (path of disease), epidemiology (who is effected in a population), ethology (who is effected genetically), manifestation (symptoms), treatment, and outcome. First step preventing COPD is to know how it affects the body and the path taken; this is called the pathology. In normal, healthy breathing a person breathes in air that is moves through the bronchial tubes to the bronchioles. At the end of the bronchioles there are air sacs called alveoli. The alveoli are elastic air sacs that control the gas exchange of oxygen and carbon dioxide to the body (Smoking, 2016). The alveoli consist of elastic tissue so when a person breaths in the the alveoli can expand and when the carbon dioxide is released it can deflate and return to it s normal size. ... This is also true of Mrs Beast , in which Duffy reimagines the traditional fairy tale of The Beauty and the Beast to give Mrs Beast dominance over her husband, as well as financial and emotional independence. The opening lines of Mrs Beast set the tone for the rest of the poem, linking all of the characters mentioned throughout The World s Wife , as well as listing many other women with stories that would fit the themes of the sequence due to their exploitation by men. Moreover, her financial and emotional independence is highlighted by the anaphora of my own , with repetition similar to this used by Duffy throughout The World s Wife , particularly in Little Red Cap . However, the effect of the use of anaphora in Mrs Beast contrasts with its effect in Little Red Cap at the beginning of the sequence, which describes a girl progressing from innocence and naivety at childhood s end to saving herself and becoming independent ten years later. Despite these differences, both poems similarly reimagine fairytales, with Mrs Beast being what Little Red Cap could grow up to become with her new found independence, as Mrs Beast demonstrates her ability to take care of herself and be carried off at one wrong word, / one false move, one dirty look . In juxtaposition with this, the Beast is presented as submissive and similar to a slave rather than as the traditional handsome and arrogant prince of fairytales. There are as many techniques as there are investors, though we can identify three major strategies that are the most common. You definitely should consider choosing one of them, and then refining it further to match your trading style. 1. They are extremely illiquid. Not many shares are traded daily, so if you buy a stock on an OTC market, later you may find yourself in a position that you simply cannot sell it for profit, because of the low volume and a large spread between the bid and the ask price. You won t be able to find a buyer. The other risk is that the great majority of stocks on OTC markets are really low quality, junk stocks, and only a few of them are worth further research. Knowing how to find the good ones is the key point. 3. Ride The Pump And Dump This is unquestionably the most dangerous strategy. Penny stock trading gets all the bad press primarily because of the pump and dump schemes. Pump and dump is a very common and unethical (even criminal) activity where scammers buy up the majority of shares of a low quality OTC penny stock, and then they promote it heavily, so that gullible investors buy the stock too, thereby driving up the share price. During all of this warring, Judah allied itself with Babylonia and kept her independence. However, in 597 BCE, after failing to continue their payment of tribute, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Other accounts state that Ezekiel went to Babylonia where he kept in touch with Judah, thereby addressing both communities in a single entry. Nevertheless, whether in Judah or Babylon, Ezekiel continued to prophesize to the Judeans, before and after the exile of the remaining Hebrews. Before the destruction of Jerusalem and the temple, Ezekiel prophesized about the total destruction of Jerusalem, brought on by the Judean s guilt. Ezekiel, at first, was a reluctant prophet. Unlike other prophets he was married, therefore had responsibilities to people other than himself. The symbolic scroll, mentioned in the second and third chapters of Ezekiel. But you mortal, hear what I say to you; do not be rebellious like the rebellious house; open your mouth and eat what I give you. I [Ezekiel] looked, and a hand was stretched out to me, and a written scroll was in it... (Cook 1187), was at first bitter but soon turned sweet. This was a metaphor for God s words, which Ezekiel was reluctant to speak, that in time became easier to swallow. Ezekiel after this point became the watcher of the house of Israel, responsible for their survival (Howe 204). Ezekiel s call meant if the Judeans did not heed Ezekiel s word and repent, God s wrath would overtake them. • 41. Analysis Of The Book Ephesians What is the significance of mentioning the coming ages? Where is this being addressed? Was there a strong understanding of who Satan was? The genre of Ephesians is Epistles. Read the whole epistle in one sitting to get the big idea of the letter and its main contours. Try to write a big idea/theme of the book after reading it. Think in terms of the paragraphs being the main units of thought. Beware of isolating verses from the paragraph. Knowing the structure of epistles helps you know where you are in the letter. Do some background reading in order to understand better the epistle s main contours and its historical and cultural setting. Paul wrote the book of Ephesians, while he was imprisoned. The date that Ephesians was written is best dated between 60 90 AD, but closer to 90 since Ignatius is the earliest known person to quote it. Traditionally it is understood that this letter was written to believers in Ephesus of Asia Minor. Through this book Paul reveals who we are with and without Christ. Ephesians discusses the topic of blending the Jewish and non Jewish Christians into one community. The reoccurring theme in Ephesians is God s purpose and plan in offering redemption to His people and the manifestation of that purpose in the life of the believer. Ephesians seeks to shape believers by reminding them how wonderful God s work in Christ is, how significant their unity with Christ is, and what living for Christ looks like. • 42. Jaws Novel And Film Analysis The lure of the sandy beaches appeals to people worldwide. Television shows, movies and the draw of the beach lifestyle have a universal attraction that one can t help but want to visit. The sun, surf, barbeques, nothing could ruin a day like that; nothing but a fin in the water. Most beach goers have not experienced seeing a shark fin in the water, let alone a shark attack. Sharks may be in the close proximity where humans are but they don t actively go hunting for humans. Media has fed into mass hysteria and fear of sharks, leading to the mass killing and endangering of a vital creature to the marine ecosystem. Sharks are quickly becoming endangered due to killing and over fishing for a very expensive soup known as shark fin soup. Over 100 million sharks are killed a year for their fins. Sharks fins can go for as much as 300$ per pound. A law was passed in japan prohibiting bringing in fins of sharks without them being connected to the spine. Thinking this would help stop shark finning, it did not however. It only leads to gruesome deaths with fins still being brought in barely connect to the spine. According to International Union for the Conservation of Nature, a third of shark species globally are threatened by extinction, largely because of shark finning. • 43. Wound Dressing Research Papers In order to achieve an effective healing of a wound, an appropriate material must be used to cover the wound to prevent any infection. Due to new techniques, a wound dressing material is expected to have very satisfactory properties in enhancing a healing of a wound. The wound healing time, wound type, mechanical, physical, and chemical properties of the dressing must be taken into account when designing an effective wound dressing (Zahedi, Rezaeian, Ranaei Siadat, Jafari Supaphol, 2009). When choosing a suitable wound dress, there are several factors that must be taken into consideration, such as creating an effective bacterial barrier, having no toxic or irritant particles, protecting periwound area, producing as minimal pain as possible ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Hydrogels were the first biomaterials developed to use in the human body (Kopeček, 2007). As stated by Sood et. al (2009), hydrogels are a very complex hydrophilic organic cross linked polymers which consist of between 80 and 90% water base. An example of a commercial hydrogel is IntraSite® Gel, developed by Smith and Nephew, shown in Figure 1 below. IntraSite® Gel is an amorphous hydrogel and gently rehydrates necrotic tissues, helping autolytic debridement, and also is able to loosen and absorb slough and exudate (Smith nephew.com, 2015).Hydrogels are able to absorb a minimum amount of fluid by swelling, in addition they can moisturize a dry wound, thereby promoting autolytic debridement and providing a moist thermally insulated wound. In addition, they are capable to reduce the temperature of a wound by up to 5°C and promote epithelialization and granulation. However, since they are permeable to gas and water, they are considered less effective bacterial barrier than occlusive dressings (Sood et. al 2009). The main applications of hydrogels are the ability to donate moisture to the wound, help disintegrate dry and dead tissue, and keep wound bed moist to help cell growth (Covidien.com, 2015). Another benefit includes the ability to use them in conjunction with topical medications or antibacterial agents. Regarding their drawbacks, they are unable to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 44. The Decline Of The Reformation The fact that the Renaissance took place before the Protestant Reformation was not a coincidence. One of the major promoters of the Reformation was the availability of the Bible in the common language of the people throughout Europe. Another was the growing number of people who were able to read the Bible for themselves. Both the availability of printed material and the increasing literacy rates were direct consequences of the Renaissance and thus fostered the Reformation that followed. Without the events that took place during the Renaissance the Reformation may never have taken place. The Renaissance period was marked by a renewed interest in Classical culture, art, learning and science. The Reformation was a religious movement which challenged the authority of the pope and the Catholic Church, which until that time had been the only organized form of Christianity in Western Europe. The Reformation began when Martin Luther nailed his 95 Theses, his list of grievances against the Catholic Church s practices, to the door of a church. Luther s main disagreement with the Church was over indulgences, the sale by the Papacy of remission of penalties imposed by God on souls in Purgatory. He attached the theory behind indulgences that the Pope could make grants to the faithful from the treasure of merits accumulated by Christ and the saints over and above what they had needed for their own salvation. The grievances that Luther had with the Church had been greatly nurtured by ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Anne has been taken in and out of orphanages all her life. Until, one day Matthew Cuthbert and his sister, Miss Marilla Cuthbert, are interested in having a young boy to live with them. They called the orphanage and told them to send the child on the train. He goes to the train station to pick the child up, but to his surprise he found Anne. Anne tells Matthew how she imagines living there would be like. She was so set on staying that Matthew just couldn t leave her at the train station. He takes her to his house, and while on the journey, Anne is enjoying every moment of the beautiful flowered valleys. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... She meets a new quot;bosom quot; friend Diana, not to mention all the other friends she meets in the book. The setting helps make the story exciting. The setting is at Green Gables. Green Gables is a beautiful place with wild flowers and animals. quot; The air was sweet with the breath of many apple orchards and the meadows sloped away in the distance to horizon mists of pearl and purple; while the little birds sang as if it were the only day of summer in all the year. quot; If the setting weren t so lively, not many of the events would happen. An example would be when Anne goes through a quot;haunted quot; forest with her friend Diana. This causes them to come together as really good friends and they have to keep each other company to get off the matter that the forest is haunted. They become really close through out the book. The way the author describes the setting seems to be an important period in history. Also, the way she describes her school, what the teachers teach, the dresses the girls wear, the things they use at school, and there were many other hints. The problems and conflicts in the book were also a hint that helped me decide it was a historical fiction book. All the problems seemed realistic to that time period. Such as the teacher had to teach the whole class, and now, we have many teachers teaching many classes. I really liked the book. It was very enjoyable to read. I would recommend it to my friends, because I think they ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 47. Eukaryotic Of Eukaryotic And Eukaryotic Genomes I. Introduction Perhaps one of the first lessons one is taught about bacteria is that they constitute the prokaryotic domain of life, while humans and most other readily visible life forms are firmly rooted in the eukaryotic domain. These domains diverged many millions of years ago from a common ancestor and, while the eukaryotic branch later split into eukaryotic and archaeal domains, it maintained its separation from the prokaryotic domain (Woese et al., 1990). Prokaryotic and eukaryotic genomes are naturally very distinct in both content and structure as a result of eons long separation, and one tends to classify these domains as very distinct entities. However, there is increasing evidence of so called eukaryotic bacterial genes, or genes present in bacterial genomes that have some sort of eukaryotic origin or function. These eukaryotic bacterial genes are primarily of concern in determining virulence factors of human pathogens. As defined below, bacterial genes can be evolutionarily or functionally eukaryotic, or both. Presence of either type of gene would indicate some interaction between bacteria and eukaryotes, the most oft studied of which are pathogenic interactions. Discovering eukaryotic bacterial genes is particularly important in pathogens that secrete effectors to be taken up by host eukaryotic cells. These effectors tend to modulate host cell functions, so there would be some logic in these effectors being encoded by eukaryotic genes. Most research has been ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 48. The Effects Of Outdoor Sports Lighting On The Community Can something as common as lighting cause enough contention to divide a community? In New Providence the answer is a resounding yes. Without land available for the opening of new athletic fields, there simply are not enough sports fields to meet the needs of the town s population. In an effort to solve this dilemma, the proposal has been made by the New Providence Partnership for Recreation (NPPR) to install lighting in Lieder Field. The benefits to the community include an increase in hours each day the field may be used at no expense to the taxpayer. Yet, others in the community believe that outdoor sports lighting would have a negative impact on the quality of life in the community, be too costly and would diminish the property value of nearby homes. While athletic field lights have been used in southern New Jersey without these negative impacts that part of the state is significantly more rural than densely populated New Providence. Is athletic field lighting beneficial for the town of New Providence? While there are always benefits as well as negative consequences for community decisions, the benefits of installing athletic field lighting far outweigh the negative ramifications. Availability of Fields for Residents Use There is a growing need in the community for athletic fields, yet there is not land available to build additional facilities. The NPPR believes installing Lieder Field lighting would allow sports competitions to be held past dusk all year long, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
