My Visit to St. Peter s Catholic Church in Charlotte,...
The Catholic Church is the oldest major religion in the Western world. Littered with peace, love,
and humility, along with violence, turmoil, and controversy this institution has seen, heard, led, and
had influence over the majority of everything and everybody that there was in the last two
millennia. This has included ordinary people, Kings, Queens, Generals, Nobleman, Royalty, and
everything in between, and has endured since the beginning of the modern era, Anno Domini. They
great spiritual and monetary machine created a powerful reign over the entire world s Catholics,

When the Roman Empire collapsed, the Catholic Church was the only powerful authority not
complete disrupted by the attack by barbarians. In fact, the work of great Popes is what helped
their power increase even more. The newly christened barbarians, done by the Pope Gregory the
Great, inaugurated a new age in Jesus Christ called Christendom. All culture in Christendom
conformed to that of the Church s, and, with its headquarters in Rome, the powerful papal
monarchs , as they were called, controlled the machine that was the Catholic Church. With
newfound challenges of the Renaissance, the Protestant Reformation, and the increase in the
Enlightenment s rationalism and liberalism, an undermining of the Church began to set forth a new
era and problems for the Church that they tried to come back from. Reorganizing at Trent set a new
grim determination for the Church that catapulted their morale against ideas of modern culture.
The last of these increasing troubles being the French Revolution, after which an immense religious
revival manifested into the conversion of the elite in Europe, and extended their reach to every
corner of the world, but mostly focusing on the moral problems taking place in the 19th century
influenced by the Industrial Revolution. In the 20th century, the Church s opposition to modernism
came to an end when Pope John XXIII, with extreme boldness, turned its back on four centuries of

Advantages Of Participant Observation

CLB9018 3 1.What is participant observation and how it is deployed in ethnography?Elaborate on
its advantages and disadvantages Participant Observation is a method for collecting data in
qualitative research, such as ethnography ,seeking to obtain an in depth understanding and data of
the research subjects locating in particular selected field. The hypocrisy of sustaining the objectivity
during the process of ethnographic research has been under much more suspicion nowadays. It
implies a fundamental transformation from the preceding emphasis on the objectivity, carrying out
the observation as an outsider point of view. Contrary to the outsider approach applied in the
traditional ethnography, participant observation requires the observers to engage with and immerse
themselves in the field,in which fieldwork is being carried out.The observers would establish a
relationship with the informants and the research subjects while keep contacting over a period of
time. The participant observation involves not only observation, but also natural
conversations,interviews,questionnaires...etc. It is a research method for ethnography. The

Rhyme Scheme Of The Tyger By William Blake
William Blake was more than just a poet. He was an artist, a politician and a theologian. Blake
was born in 1757 and died in 1827, He was known for his artistic talent and political involvement.
Born in to a middle class family in London, Blake was one of 7 children born to his family, but
only 5 of them survived past infancy. Blake did not receive any formal schooling and mostly spent
his days wandering the streets of London (PoetryFdn.). When he was ten he was enrolled in art
school for multiple years and when he was 14 he became an apprentice engraver to James Basire
(Poetry Fdn.). His work as an engraver allowed him to make money and continue to hone his
artistic ability. Blakes artistry is clearly seen in most of his poems, whether its his early political
works such as America or his classic lyric poems like The Tyger. (Poetry Fdn.). In The Tyger
William Blake unconventionally questions the creation of the world through rhymescheme, deep
imagery, and conflicting ideas.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The poem is a trochaic tetrameter meaning it consists of 8 syllables per line starting with a
stressed then unstressed syllable. The rhyming pattern of the poem is aabb, ccdd, eeff, gghh,
iijj, and then ending with a repeated aabb. The interesting thing about The Tyger is that it
contains a catalexis, which means that the last foot of every line is missing a syllable. Blake
uses the catalexis in The Tyger to stress certan images, such as In what distant deeps or skies.
/ Burnt the fire of thine eyes? (Lines 5 6). The readers are left with these vivid details that keep
the poem interesting. Another purpose of the catalexis is in keeping the poem abrupt. It gives the
poem a harsh almost aggressive tone, one that reflects the speaker s view of the tiger and the God
who made it. Blake uses the structure of the poem to fit the aggressive tone he writes

Automatic Fire Sprinkler System Essay
The automatic fire sprinkler system was one of the earliest sprinkler systems placed into effect.
The origin of the modern day automatic sprinkler system dates back to the early 1800 s. The first
automatic sprinkler system was created in England in the 1806 by John Carey. It consisted of a
pipe with valves held closed by counterweights attached by string. When flames burned through
the string the counterweight dropped to the floor, which opened the valve that released the water
and extinguished the fire. As the 1800 s progressed, the basic pipe system for sprinklers was
becoming more prevalent across England. It began to pop up in textile mills all through out the
country. In 1864, as sprinkler system use grew, Major Stewart Harrison of... Show more content on

Not only does this cool what ever material is heated, but it can pre cool any materials that are not
yet heated or involved in the fire. This helps prevent the spread of that fire through the structure
saving the structure and protecting its contents from further fire and water damage. Although the
automatic sprinkler system is the most widely used type of fire protection system, it does have
its limitations and uses inside certain building types. As previously stated, it is generally used in
commercial buildings. This is because there are usually no special hazardous materials in these
buildings, or any large quantity of materials that would react negatively with the application of
water. It is installed in buildings such as hospitals, schools, and office buildings for life safety
first, then building preservation. Since a proper functioning sprinkler system will reduce the fire
size and prevent its spread, it will allow for more time of evacuation for these buildings. This is
especially useful in hospitals and nursing home settings where there may be a large number of
immobile people that require time to move to a more safe location. The automatic sprinkler system
is also used in buildings such as warehouses. It is used here due to the large amount of combustible
material that goes along with mass storage.

Individualism In Ayn Rand s The Fountainhead
The Fountainhead written by Ayn Rand primarily revolves around the protagonist Howard Roark
and his struggle to maintain his individuality and morals in the face of opposing forces. Howard
demonstrates this struggle in the act of dynamiting the Cortlandt Homes and fighting for his
freedom in court. Throughout the novel, Howard s ego stands firm against public opinion, he does
not waver despite opposition in instances such as the construction of the Stoddard Temple, the
building of the Aquitania Hotel, and the erection of the Enright House. Howard s attitude correlates
to a main theme in the novel, which was that individualism is the more rational lifestyle. However,
Howard s rationale behind his actions was that moral law super secedes secular... Show more

Objectivism is the Philosophy of rational individualism and morality. (Thomas, n.p) It holds that
there is no greater moral goal than to achieve happiness; which is exactly what Howard strives to
achieve through creating building to please him, not others. Objectivism is optimistic, holding that
the universe is open to human achievement and happiness and that each person has within him
the ability to live a rich, fulfilling, independent life. (Matthew, np) Objectivism also praises
individuality and condemns altruism, stating that to achieve you must only help yourself.
Because of his beliefs, Howard feels that he does not require punishment for the explosion of the
Cortlandt homes. He also feels that because of the details of his ideals he had to destroy the
buildings. Bringing in the objectivist philosophy it was a matter of integrity; of which Howard
was very protective. He fights to keep his integrity and the destruction of the Cortlandt house was
the result. Howard chose to represent himself in the trial; during the trial, Howard chooses the
least sympathetic jury and makes his case by using a moving speech. Howard chooses that specific
jury, because he knew that if the jury did not have a basic understanding of the planks of
Objectivism then they would not have been able to comprehend and agree with his standing on the
destruction of the Cortlandt homes. He does not call any witnesses, yet

One way to stop this from happening again was to unite the countries together economically and
eventually politically. In this way, each individual country was tied to one other. If one country
wanted to start a war it would affect every country in the union and cause collapse equally between
the aggressor and the aggressee. ( EU Matters.ie Information about Ireland s membership of the EU.
n.d.) The first step in the European Union was the creation of the European Coal and Steel
Community (ECSC) in 1950. The foreign minister of France at the time, Robert Schuman, believed
that the heavy industries of coal and steel in Europe should be united to secure a lasting peace.
Initially, France and Germany were the main countries involved with the European Coal and Steel
Community, but Belgium, the Netherlands, Italy, and Luxembourg also joined. With these six
countries intertwined in the coal and steel industry one member country could not make weapons
on their own for wars without affecting the other member countries. (Editors of Encyclopedia
Brittanica, n.d.,) Due to the success of the European Coal and Steel Community, leaders in Europe
commenced talks about creating a unified economic landscape within the continent. Hence, the
signing of the Treaty of Rome took place on March 25, 1957 between the six European countries:

What Are The Living Conditions In The Trenches
World War One was one of the deadliest conflicts in human history and it is best known as being
the war fought in the trenches. Living conditions in the trenches were horrible and soldiers often
developed trench foot, a disease caused by standing in water for long periods of time.
Consequently, soldiers treated fresh boots as a luxury and therefore went to extreme lengths to
getting them. We have lost all sense of other considerations, because they are artificial. Only the
facts are real and important for us. And good boots are scarce . (All Quiet on the Western Front,
Remarque, Pg.20). In that book, Paul and his fellow soldiers steal their dying friend Kemmerich s

Miss Peregrine s Home For Particular Children
Self discovery is a common theme throughout literature. One example of it is in the movie Miss
Peregrine s Home for Particular Children. The film shows the theme through the main character
Jake. He visits an island to find the particulars. The particulars are people who have
extraordinary traits (ex. One of the characters Olive has hands that can catch things on fire).
Along the way, Jake learns that he is a particular and his journey of self discovery starts there. He
discovers that his trait is that he can see dangerous creatures called hollows. Later, Jake has to
figure out a plan to keep himself and the other particulars safe from the hollows. In the end, he
saves everyone and decides to live with particulars. This adventure shows self discovery since Jake
goes from being a simple, fearful boy to a courageous man who had his life on the line to save
people. In addition, the excerpt Frankenstein a Life Beyond )Book 1 of 3) The Resurrection Trinity

majority of his life until a woman named Peggy brought him into the real world for the first

due to him exploring his ability to cut things. He started from being a topiarist to almost opening
a hair salon. Edward also learns that he s very trusting and cares more about people s safety over
his own. The theme is also shown in an excerpt from The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr.

a painful change and turns into an alter ego named Edward Hyde. The excerpt shows self
discovery since Dr, Jekyll went through a journey which leads into the start of his new life where

Communication Theories And Concepts Of The Film Outsourced
When talking about communication, it is essential to understand what this term really means. There
are many different definitions pertaining to this word, but none of them can be considered right or
wrong. On the other hand, Samovar and Porter suggested one of the most basic and influential
definitions: communicationis the ability to share our ideas and feelings (Samovar and Porter,
1995, p. 27). Mr. Todd s journey in the film Outsourced greatly reflects on a wide variety of
communication theories and concepts, as well as my personal experience in the same country,
India. When referring to communication, it is fundamental to grasp The Shannon and Weaver
Model that was invented in 1947. This is basically an exemplary of a few stages in which the
information source called sender, sends the information to its destination, the receiver.
Information obviously does not get to the receiver magically; this is why this model was
invented. It is a way to illustrate how a person shares beliefs and ideas, and how they reach their
destination. For example, at the beginning of the movie Outsourced, the employee called Todd
Anderson asks his boss named Dave: Is this gonna take a while? when he was called to privately
speak inside his office (Jeffcoat, 2006, 1:26). In this case, the sender is Dave who sends the
information through a place called channel, which then gets decoded before reaching its
destination, Todd. On the other hand, it is also important to underline the fact that

compared to what I learned in my textbooks and courses at FIU. Sometimes, answers are not
always in books. The Executive Director, before he left, was someone that was secluded in his
office and did not bother to interact with myself compared to the rest of the members of the
office. Japanese bosses behave differently towards those from lower level positions, and this was

people that may don t like to interact with others because

This has been looked into on account of individuals perpetrated violations, nobody constrains them

This is where holiday foods and candies go after the holiday is passed. For the most part,
however, the Halloween candies were all sold away by the time I visited the store in early

had continued forward I would have passed the checkout aisles. Instead, I turned left through the
drugstore section of the supermarket.
At the edge of the drugstore are racks of small stuffed animals and other cheap gifts. The
drugstore area itself is laid out in orderly rows. The shelves are lower than in the main part of the
store; my guess is that they were created to ease the look out for shoplifters. Ads featuring
smiling, multiracial, families adorn the ends of the aisles. Each of which contains a carefully
ordered section of items that go together; each of these sections is then arranged by brand. This
creates uniform blocks of brand names and logos; the toothbrush section is, at first glance, a
display of Colgate and Oral logos. The drugstore has a wood, or fake wood, floor in contrast to the
shiny, white industrial tile that floors the rest of the store. The shelves are wood look alikes. The
store seems to have made an effort to create a more natural looking environment for the drugstore,
or health and beauty, section. This natural tone is meant to convey a feeling of health, freshness,
and cleanliness.

Establishing Unity Roundtable With An Updated Version Of...
We started our semester with the main goal of establishing UNITY Roundtable with an updated
version of constitutions and bylaws. After a couple of weeks of receiving feedback from the
UNITY Roundtable reps we settled and voted on the latest version of them. After that was
completed, Deshauna and I with the help of the reps we worked to recruit a SFAC Liaison and
after several weeks we elected Vincent Wan. He will oversee the allocation of next year budgets
and make sure the process and decisions is equitable and inclusive of multicultural organizations.
Through the semester, we came up with different long term goals such as creating a proposal for
the renovation of the three multicultural houses. To complete the research and plan we formed a
workgroup that will be chaired by Senator Carter. This working group is formed by three UNITY
Roundtable members and three Student Senators. They will research best practices from other
institutions and create a proposal that UNITY will vote on and present to the board of Trustees
during their spring gathering.
This semester was hard for students from marginalized communities, hence, most of UNITY s

this by organizing a meeting for student to color. During this meeting we address the hate crime,

Muscle Apartness Or DOMS
It s not about the lactic acid Muscle soreness is actually not from the buildup of lactic acid! It is
actually delayed onset muscle soreness or DOMS. It is very important for a person to know the

know why our muscles get sore after exercising so we can gain an understanding, the causes of it,

Animistic Beliefs
Under the same regard as Catholics pray not only to the Lord, but to their ancestors, saints, and the
Holy Mother during times of need, and in the same regard that most Christians pray for each other
during hardships, it is acceptable for those who hold animistic beliefs to pray to alternative sources
as well. Prayers, after all, are simply the method of communicating to those beyond the reach of our
normal perceptions. There is a wide divide between communicating and worshipping. One of the
strongest principles of Christianityis the Holy Spirit, the essence of the Lord that fills all things and
inhabits all people, beckoning them to accept the divine and guiding them towards righteousness.

The differences between idolatry and respect are vast, but the line between them can be thin.
Without using a Christianized filter of thought, many practitioners of animistic traditions fall victim
to Pagan actions. It is easy for God s works to be misinterpreted, misused, and mistreated. Unless
one can recognize that the spirits of their belief exist solely because of the Holy Spirit placed
within them by the Lord, they risk performing idolatry and falling into polytheistic worship.
However, when reviewed with a Christianized filter of thought, one may derive different messages
through scripture. In Exodus, the Lord states that [t]hou shalt have no other gods before me. Thou
shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of anything that is in heaven above, or
that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth (Exo. 20. 4 5). While not
necessarily dictating that the faithful should not believe in other spiritual entities, the Lord merely
states that such entities should not be respected above Him. Faithful should not idolize anything in
the skies, the earth, or the waters, although the skies, earth, and waters themselves may be another
story. Regardless, these forces of nature are only divine because the Lord has made them so, and
nothing should be respected above the Lord himself. These forces should not be worshipped. The
Lord s faithful should not bow to them nor serve them. However, just as the faithful are
commanded to love thy neighbor, the faithful that believe that aspects of the natural world embody
spiritual entities should extend this precept to these spirits as well. When they love thy neighbor,
they should extend their love to both the physical persons in their lives as well as to the spiritual

Drug Testing Benefits
Over 27.1 million people in the U.S. were reported in drug use. An eighth of them people either
got injured or passed away. This is the reason we drug test at jobs. It helps keep the dangers away
from people and businesses. Our society as a whole will improve by being a lot safer. There will be
less shootings and catastrophes due to drugs. That s the purpose of drugtesting at jobs.
At work workers always have to be doing their job the correct way. For the employer they have
to have reliable workers. Many companies test job applicants for illegal drug use as part of the
employment hiring process. (Doyle) .Doing a yearly drug test to see who isn t doing their job

Drug testing at jobs are also helping to lower that rate. There are more and more jobs everyday that
require drugs tests which means it will continue to lower. There is a 500% increase on

stop doing them and go on the right way in life. The purpose of the drug test is to get people to
stop doing them so everyone can be safer and more productive.

There is at least a casualty a day caused by drugs. More Americans died from drug overdose in
2016 then died in the entirety of the Vietnam War. (Lopez). Innocent people die from them that
are just bystanders. This has to stop and drug tests are helping. A safer environment is the main
reason businesses started doing this. People should not have to give a life because of someone else
s actions. People at work are protected by the test as well. The employer saves money as well
because no equipment is destroyed and no lives will be taken.
Drug testing is for the better than the worse. The people who think otherwise need to be tested. It
protects people, weather its the user people at work ,or the innocent bystander keeping people off

Teaching Experiences With Phonics And How They...
Article one, teachers give their account on their teaching experiences with phonics and how they
incorporated a culturally relevant curriculum. A third grade teacher who taught history was
teaching the basic information about different cultures than the actual culture from their
perspectives. Another teacher taught more on inferential teaching, relating what we know and
experienced in our own life. One of the teachers taught phonics by making a personal alphabet book
with the help of the parents using letters that the child was familiar with or liked. The personalized
picture book was similar but the student used different types of material to make their book. The
book represented and depicted who they are as a student. Last lesson was the morning circle where
students were able to use their native language to greet others and talk about themselves. Article
two, starts off discussing what, explicit systematic phonics instruction means (Mesmer, H. E.,
Griffith, P. L., 2005, p. 366). Everyone has own interpretation of that phrase which needs to be
correctly defined. The phonics instruction has two separate meanings both are teaching encoding
and decoding of sounds. It also very important because the phonograms is part of the English
language. The students use phonics to by corresponding sound to letters, spelling, and
understanding the meaning of the words. Explicit and systematic phonics originated before 1900
but both were used together after 1900 to teach phonics. That

The Influence Of Media Bias On American Teenagers
Megan Beach
Composition 1102
Professor McGriff
November 7, 2017
How has Media Bias influenced the thoughts of American teenagers and can we avoid Media Bias
and receive the facts?
Introduction: Media bias is a real issue. No matter what news source you are observing, everyone
is going to have their own opinion about a news topic. In order to make sure that we are receiving
the truth, we must make sure that we are doing our own research prior to making conclusions. My
goal is to inform you about media bias so that you can learn ways to identify the truth rather than
what journalists want you to believe. I also want to show you the influence that media bias has on
young American teenagers.
Thesis: Media bias has influenced the minds of young Americans while withholding veracious facts
causing the rate of American teenagers who watch the news to go down.
What is Media Bias?
Have you ever engaged in watching a news program and as you re watching, you suddenly realize
a certain news story isn t providing all the information containing to the story? Or the news story
just doesn t seem to make sense? Ashley Dugger, an attorney, describes media bias quite accurate.
Dugger says, media bias is the perception that media is reporting the news in a partial or prejudice
manner. (Dugger. Media bias and criticism:

Insurance coverage for working Canadian
Prescription drug coverage in Canada is different for every province and has evolved over time ,

annual avenger of more than $500.(14). As a result of non uniform drug plans in some
provinces, seniors must pay a copayment, i.e. the portion of prescription that is paid every time

some have combinations of both copayments and premiums .(14) Canada is a fast aging society ,

their treatments in senior age. The average $500 dollars that every household with at least one
senior spends does not cover the cost of these expensive treatments for serious illnesses. Beside
these expenses on medications mobility aids are also a common expense for seniors which may
cost up to $10,000 and in Ontario alone only 76% of these cost are covered as long as they are

Essay about The Possible Mechanisms of Scrapie Contraction
The Possible Mechanisms of Scrapie Contraction
Scrapie was first discovered in Great Britain in the late 1900 s. The first case of scrapie in the
United States was found in Michigan in 1947 when the flock owner had imported sheep of British
origin several years prior. Since then scientists have researched to find the cause of the scrapie
agent that are classified as transmissible spongiform encephalopathy. At the present, scientists have
presented three main theories that explain why the scrapie agent holds a dangerous threat against
its host and how it elicits its symptoms. Scientists are finding genetic alternatives to prevent and
dampen the spread of scrapie within sheep and goat flocks. They use methods such as tatoing and

Because of the mysterious nature of the disease, the origin of scrapie and the damage it causes the
body can only be theorized. The three main theories of scrapie and its structure s effect on the
symptoms it causes sheep and goats all present potential information about the disease and its cure
(Scrapie Fact Sheet. August 2001: http://www.animalagriculture.org/scrapie/AboutScrapie

The uncertainty of the origin and cause of scrapie is due to the insufficient research to find a
solution to the epidemic because it is still considered a relatively new disease and not an immediate
threat to humans. There have been three main theories of the cause of scrapie and its resistant
nature to all previous experimental cures. The first theory is that the agent is a virus with unusual
characteristics. The second theory is that the agent is a prion, which is an exclusively host coded
protein that is modified to a protease resistant form after infection. The last theory is that the agent
is a virino, a small nucleic acid coated with a host derived protective protein that allows it to resist
scientists futile attempts at destroying it (Scrapie Fact Sheet. August 2001: http:/

The first theory of the scrapie agent being an unusual virus presents a serious problem to scientists
because viruses do not respond to antibiotics and other chemicals of that nature. Scientists would

Theme Of The Storm By Kate Chopin
The Storm
Kate Chopin died in 1904, 16 years before women received the right to vote. She was raised by

turned to writing. In defiance of her time, she wrote frank descriptions of women s sexual desires.
She also usually set her stories in Louisiana. Her use of setting has caused to be known as regional
writer. An excellent example of her frank descriptions and regionalism is her short story, The
Storm. The Storm, is about a woman who has an affair while rain storm rolls in in rural Louisiana.

Knee Jerk Reflex
When you hit the patella tendon a kick reflex is produced which is also known as the knee jerk
(knee reflex). The main reason why hitting the patella tendon results in muscle contraction is so
that the muscle is protected from unwanted harm such as being yanked vigorously or hyper
extended. The muscle group that contracts in this reflex is the quadriceps muscles, so when a muscle
spindle is stretched an impulse is instantly sent to the human s spinal cord and a rapid response to
contract the specific muscle is admitted. Due to the impulse not having to travel all the way to the
brain only up the spinal cord and back this results in a very rapid reflex, only taking about 1 2
milliseconds to occur (Marieb ; Hoehn;, 2010). When the patella is... Show more content on

The impulse is also instantly received to contract the muscle. The knee jerk is a reflex arc, this is a
nerve pathway that is highly involved in a reflex action, also including a sensory nerve and

conduction only travels in one direction. The receptors are the starting point of the dendrites of
the sensory neurons, the impulse conduction regularly starts in the receptors (Patton; Thibodeau;,

During the knee reflex only the motor and sensory neurons are involved. The nerve which is

if I was to be cheeky I would already have one of the extremely rare pearl ones in my sights.
A Little bit of History.
We all know the GameCube did not last very long as the competing consoles had more support and
many more developers churning out titles and managed to force Nintendo to pack the GameCube in
and move on to try a newer concept but before that happened the guys and gals at Nintendo tried
to drum up sales by signing exclusive rights to some franchises, as a result of that attempt to
boost sales we saw the Resident Evil series rebooted and new titles added exclusively on the
GameCube as a deal was signed with Capcom for exclusive GameCube releases and also Metal
Gear Solid The Twin Snakes was a massive deal along with a few others but it was not enough to
boost sales and in the end they just packed it in, of course the rival systems had some serious
firepower of their own with the likes of Kill zone, Gran Turismo, (PlayStation) Halo, (Xbox) and of
course Grand Theft Auto on both.
The GameCube was also the smallest of the three systems which a lot of gamers did not like, I

Outside of the command structure, some organizations we can expect to deal with are Doctors
without Borders, the UN, Red Cross, UNICEF, World Food Programme. To extend influence
beyond the chain of command to some of these organizations, we should conduct periodic
meetings with representatives from these organizations to synchronize and coordinate efforts.
Sending an LNO to the organizations to keep a two flow of communication and information will
help us gain situational understanding, as well as these organizational aims. In turn, we can shape
some of our own operations and efforts. We can also expect to interact with local police and
governance. More frequent meetings would be needed with these groups, as it ties into our core

part: constraints/limitations/specified actions, as these specified limitations will shape the COA

Summary Of The Interlopers And The Machine That Won The War
The Interlopers and The Machine That Won the War are two short stories that have many
differences, but have a few similarities as well. The Interlopers is a short tale depicting a feud
between two young men, Ulrich von Gradwitz and Georg Znaeym. Georg believes that the land
currently under Ulrich s name actually belongs to him, therefore steals game from Ulrich s land
just to spite him (Saki 82 83). After confronting each other, it is made clear that they both wish to
take the other s life (83). Suddenly, a bolt of lightning struck a nearby tree, causing it to pin both
men to the ground (84). The Machine That Won the War
portrays the story of three men,
Lamar Swift, John Henderson, and Max Jablonsky, who are discussing Earth s victory in the war
against the planet Deneb (Asimov 1). Everyone believes that an ingenious computer called
Multivac won the war, until Henderson, Jablonsky, and Swift admit that they didn t trust the
information and changed it until they thought it appeared to be accurate (1 4). Differences in these
stories include: characters, settings, and wrong doings. A few similarities consist of the reasons
for actions explained in the stories, and what the characters rely on to make decisions and solve
problems. Through showing differences and similarities, it will be made clear that stories like this
that seem to have nothing alike can be related.
First of all, The Interlopers and The Machine That Won the War have very different characters and

Earnings Management During Import Relief Investigations was written by Jennifer J. Jones. It

costs of tariffs and quota increases on import businesses. The ITC or (United States International
Trade Commission) conducts relief investigations on companies that import goods so they can make

The import companies really don t lose much when the import relief goes up. The cost of
importing goods to the United States and paying the import relief is most often cheaper than
manufacturing goods in the United States. The ITC looks at a company s earnings before taxes. To
circumvent the ITC the managers of import companies often use multiple accrual accounts. By
playing somewhat of a shell game with the ITC the import companies are able to hide assets or shift
them to the next quarter to show a lower profit margin. The author conducted a cross sectional
investigation of the accrual accounts of import companies.
Her investigation revealed that the import companies suddenly report lower earnings and income
just before the investigation period. The obvious concern of the import industry is illustrated by
the drastic counter measures put in place by the managers of import companies. The methodology
of the ITC is effective at protecting domestic producers and the American economy but it puts
import companies in a difficult situation. When presented by the moral dilemma of altering
reported income import companies must make a decision which in the minds of many theorists is
not a decision at all. Because businesses are driven by profits and managers are paid by the
shareholders to protect the best interest of the company they are forced to

John Cage was born in 1912 in Los Angeles. His father was an inventor, and his mother worked as
a journalist for the LA Times. Cage was first introduced to the piano musicof the 19th century by
his aunt; he began taking piano lessons in fourth grade. By the time he graduated from high
school, he was convinced that he wanted to be a writer, and in 1928 Cage became a theology

teaching private lessons on contemporary art.
In 1933 began to focus on music rather than on visual art, and moved to New York, and later to

When I asked Schoenberg to teach me, he said, You probably can t afford my price. I said, Don t

Yes. He said he would teach me free of charge. I gave up painting and concentrated on music.

Charles Dickens was not just an author of the book Hard Times which is a sequel of three books

Northanger Abbey and the Bildungsroman
The Female Bildungsroman Like other Jane Austen novels, such as Emma or Pride and Prejudice,
Northanger Abbey s primary trajectory is the development of the main female character. Even
though Catherine Morland is not a typical female Bildungsroman, her realizations in who she is and
who she is becoming are very evident throughout the novel. Webster s Dictionary defines the
Bildungsroman as a novel which traces the spiritual, moral, psychological, or social development
and growth of the main character towards maturity. In this novel, the main developments of
Catherine being traced are the social, psychological, emotional, and intellectual, in addition to her
growth as a fully functional lady of society. This paper will focus on... Show more content on

Now he has made her look like a fool, which causes her to be indifferent to him for the remainder
of their acquaintance. If I could not be persuaded into doing what I thought wrong, I never will
be tricked into it. So when asked again to take a ride with John, Catherine responds If I am
wrong, I am doing what I believe to be right. The sternness in her ability to make the right
choices for herself is now solidified. She no longer needs to pacify others wants or requests.
Through experience, Catherine is growing out of her innocence and naivety. Isabella Thorpe is
not that much different than her brother. As equally as self absorbed, rude, and lying as he,
Isabella takes full advantage of Catherine. Yet why does Catherine not see through Isabella as
readily as John? Even though Catherine is a bit suspicious of Isabella s actions and grows tired of
her at times, she does not assume that Isabella is like John. For Isabella has something that John
lacks, tact. Catherine being very naГЇve is not able to pick up on the actions of Isabella as readily
as those of John, because, like most women, Isabella is very deceiving. Her every word and action
has some unstated intention. For instance, Isabella is asked to dance by Captain Tilney, yet
declines his request by saying that it is quite out of the question, her being so preoccupied with

Regulating Our Food
Government Regulating Our Food One may agree with the government regulating our food.
People all around the world are obese and struggling to get healthy again. The percentage of
obese people is rising and it is getting to a concerning level. When you are obese, you become
limited in movement and jobs that you can get. The world still needs workers for the land and
obese people cannot do that job because they cannot move as well. Obese people are restricted in
the job category and many other categories. If the government does not pitch in to stop obesity,
more people will not be successful, there would still be more ways to become obese, and people
would just eat and not think of the calories that go into their daily meals.
The success rate in school decreases for obese people. According to Education Level and Obesity,
33.6% of obese adults didn t graduate high school. If you don not graduate high school, it is very
hard to get a job in general but a steady, decent paying job. The government should be helping and
trying to make everyone not obese. If people are obese and not changing, they need all the help they
can get and the government is providing help. The government is trying to lower the amount of
unhealthy food being sold in cities to prevent obesity. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Noam Chomsky Consent
Journal on The Manufacture of Consent
In Noam Chomsky s film I have learned quite a few things about life in a
democratic society. This film has made think in a three dimensional way for whom is
really right, Noam Chomsky or those who he calls quot;Elites quot;. I have come to the
conclusion that Noam Chomsky is right, for his claim is very convincing which is
that the media is controlled by the elites who determine what the public should
know. How exactly does Chomsky prove all this to make sense? Well, he
explained that the governments, corporations and the other elites manufacture the
consent of the public to serve their own interests.

This is why the average
Joe will let the elites control on what they hear and how they will be controlled
through brainwashing.
Another thing I would like to talk about is that Noam Chomsky is a type of
person who wont let nothing get in his way, for example: It was said that he risked
his career and life for the sake of other people. This is one of the reasons why I
would respect him. He could have put his whole family down the drain, but
somehow he came out on top. I could tell he was a man who is not only itelligent,
but also a man of great courage and caring for those in need, like those of East
Timur. If it wasnt for him, I would bet that more than half the class would of
never heard about what was going on in East Timur. The reason why I believe he
made film was that he wanted to help the people of East Timur or else he wouldn t
have put it on the film. He wanted the viewers to see the tragedy of East Timur,
for he believed that the only way to work out problems was from the outside and
this I think, he meant us the viewers to spread the word for we are a democratic
society and we control the government and not the government control us.
For the final reason why I

Pediatric Vs Neonatal Research Paper
Neonatal vs. Pediatric
INTRODUCTION
As I am quickly approaching my high school graduation, the question of What are you going to
major in? What are you going to be? gets thrown my way very often. I had always known I
wanted to go into the medical field and be help to others but I never knew what. I threw around
the idea of becoming a pediatric surgeon, pulmonary pediatric doctor, or finally I came to the
consensus of becoming a nurse. Now, another question follows, what kind of nurse? I have jumped
around from specializing in Pediatrics or Neonatal. I am researching both careers very intensely to
determine which career I am most interested in and would like to pursue. I knew both careers are
very intense, it is not easy working with very sick and weak kids. ... Show more content on

Some are able to become a registered nurse within 4 years and other can complete it in 2 years.
The great thing about this career is the great amount of flexibility that comes with it. For
pediatric nursing it begins with the bare minimum of receiving a Bachelor of science in Nursing
is a four to five year program ( How Many Years in College to be a Pediatric Nurse? ). It is always
advised to receive the most schooling and experience possible to really ensure there is a future
in the career. Perusing additional schooling such as a Master s degree will only take an
additional 1 2 years of school. On top of that there is nursing school that also takes 1 3 years.
School work for a nurse consists of a very vigorous course load of mathematics and different
types of sciences. The minimum amount of time schooling could take to become a registered
nurse is 4 years. Adding on top of that the years of training and experience needed to pursue
nursing in a specialty is another 1 2 years. When working with children it is required to take a
psychology course and children s development course throughout

Finland Education Vs American Education System
Finland is a country with a well known reputation for excellent education. Finland is ranked twelfth
in the world for education, whereas the United States of America is ranked fifteenth (Iceland is
number one). (Human Development indices) Finland also has the highest PISA scores in the world.
(Human Development Indices) The U.S. used to be the top, but now we are slowly falling behind.
Perhaps the U.S. should examine the Finnish educationsystem and use some of its ideas to revamp
our system. The curriculum in Finland consists of these main ideas: personalized learning for all,
high standards, the enjoyment of subjects and equal education. Personalized learning is the most
important piece of finland s education system. Teachers work with... Show more content on

have different needs to be filled. Many argue that because we are so diverse there is no way that
Finland s system could work here because, Finnish is a culture and Finland is it s country, America
is not one single culture. That is not really true, in recent years Finland has seen a major influx of
immigrants. Finland is an extremely diverse country right now.
Another advantage Finland has in being small is that their education costs are smaller. Adopting a
Finnish curriculum would raise the cost of education significantly through taxes. Though taxpayers
would see return in an all free school system, many would not look past the tax rates to see the
benefit higher taxes would bring.
Overall the Finnish school system most likely wouldn t work in the United States, if implemented
at a national level. Our two countries are just too different to transfer curriculums smoothly. The
United States should seek advice from Finnish educators though, to design a system of our own
that fits our particular needs. When designing our system we should allow experts and educators to
create the goals, and standards not our lawmakers. We should also try to level the playing field by
allowing room for education to be personalized to fit each students needs all throughout their

Latin American Private Equity And Venture Capital Industry
Brazil is set to host the Olympic games next year with interest and excitement building on the
streets of Rio. But at the same time, the Brazilian economy is faced with some massive challenges.
Brazilian asset prices are plummeting, but analysts are calling for value investors to seek
opportunities in the sector and perhaps help the economy get back on track.
In fact, the recent research by the Latin American Private Equity Venture CapitalAssociation
(LAVCA) shows, the first part of the year has witnessed increase in fundraising, investment and
exits. The economic slowdown is providing opportunities, as heavily depreciating local currencies
are looking lucrative.
The Latin American Industry Outlook
The LAVCA data shows the region saw its fundraising increase by 21% in the first half of 2015.
Latin American private equity and venture capital firms raised an aggregate $4.27 billion. The first
half of the year witnessed the strongest fundraising since 2011. In 2011, a slightly higher $4.9
billion was raised during the first half.
It was the pan regionally focused firms, which accounted for nearly 35% of the total capital raised.
This was nearly three times more than these funds raised during the first half of 2014. In addition,
the latest Preqin data shows that domestic managers have controlled the fundraising scene with
nearly 86% of fundraising arriving from domestic funds.
Despite the strong fundraising effort at the start of the year, LAVCA s analysts predict

Definitions Of Leadership And Management
Definitions of leadership and management.
Although the interviews conducted were unstructured all three practitioners were asked for their
definition of leadership and management. It was thought that questions about leadership and
management could be interpreted in so many ways, whereas having their interpretation helped to
better understand where they were coming from. It was important to understand each individual
perception.
In the interviews conducted management was believed to generate responsibilities such as
planning, paperwork, day to day running and that health and safety is in place. Where as leadership
was believed to be more involved with what the children do, helping others perform their role,
inspiring others. A conversation with practitioner two, that was recorded in the field notes revealed
staff not wanting to be thought of as a manager, preconceived ideas of management made the role
something they did not want to aspire to. Authoritative was a word used. Practitioners stressed on
their dislike for the term managing ,
I don t like the idea of managing, I don t think I manage (Practitioner two).
As early years practitioners, the most important aspect of the job is working with the children.
Many complain of too much paper work that takes practitioners away from working with the
children, which most enjoy and a reason for their career choice in the first place. If practitioners

The Symbols Of Kwanzaa And African-American Culture
Kwanzaa History
Kwanzaa, a seven day holiday that celebrates African American heritage. Dr. Maulana Karenga
created Kwanzaa to help African Americans remember their roots and to foster unity during a
time of incredible racial strife. It s been observed from December 26 to January 1 every year since
1966. Karenga, a controversial figure in the black power movement, openly opposed Christian
beliefs and originally declared that Kwanzaa should be an anti Christmas of sorts. The name
Kwanzaa is derived from matunda ya kwanza, a Swahili phrase for first fruits, is based on
traditional African harvest festivals, combining customs from several different cultures. Each
of the seven days represents one of the seven principles of Kwanzaa, or nguzo saba. There are
also seven symbols of Kwanzaa, which celebrants display prominently in their homes throughout
the holiday. The colors of Kwanzaa are red, black and green the colors of the Pan African flag,
which symbolizes unity among African people all over the world. Black represents the people,
red their blood and green the earth and the future. Kwanzaa is, of course, a festive time; it has all
the feasting and celebrating you d expect from a weeklong holiday, but it s also an occasion for
reflection, conversation, contemplation and camaraderie. And although it s a relatively young
holiday, it has its fair share of very specific, detailed traditions. (Cooper, A. (2011, July 25).

The Culture Of Popular Culture Essay
Popular culture is a term that holds various meanings depending on where it s being defined and
the context of its use. It is usually recognized as the language or people s culture that prevails in a
society at a point in time. As social researcher Brummett explains in his book Rhetorical
Dimensions of Popular Culture, pop culturereflects the characteristics of social life, where the
publicly are most actively involved. Popular culture is known as the culture of the people . This
culture is determined by the interactions between people within their daily activities, for instance,
dressing styles, use of language, greeting rituals and the ways that people behave in public, etc. are
all examples of popular culture. Popular culture is also diverted by the mass media (Abbott and
Sapsford, 1987).
Popular culture is generally believed to be comprised of a variety of elements. For example,
popular culture covers the most contemporary and instant aspects of our lives. These aspects can
often show the characteristics of rapid change, especially in today s highly technological and
informative world in which, people are highly influenced by the universal media. Certain
standards of behaviour and common beliefs are reflected in pop culture. Because of its cohesion,
pop culture both influences and reflects people s daily life. Moreover, brands can reach iconic pop
status. However, these aspects are not constant and may change rapidly. (Abbott and Sapsford,
1987).

Joshua told Andre about the situation, with the water heater, not producing enough hot water in the
time needed. Andrea thought about it and came up with the brilliant idea to hook up additional
pipes redirecting the flow of water from the laundry to the guestroom water heater. By doing this the
water temperature from the laundry water, being at 160 degrees, will mix with the guestroom water
heater water at 120*F. Andrea said he could do the connection in a half hour and Joshua agreed to
the idea. After Andre finished the connection to the pipes, Joshua turned on the switch to start
pumping the laundry s water into the system. Both agreed this was the best solution and thought
everything was fine. They both finished up their paperwork and called it today! Until the phone
rung and got the news, someone got seriously hurt! A guest fell in the shower and got burnt from
the scolding hot water. That someone was Soloman Alvi. On the other hand, through the guest s
eyes, Solomon Alvi, noticed the complaints at the front desk about the hot water shortage. Because
he heard this rumor, he thought to make sure he turns on more hot water than cold water, in the
shower, when the time comes. Solomon Alvi was occupying Room 933, the executive suite, the
same room Andre, the maintenance worker was doing repairs. Solomon did not know of the

Nietzsche s Essay On The Genealogy Of Morals
The Genealogy of Morals
Friedrich Nietzsche, born in 1844, was a German philosopher, cultural critic, poet, and Latin and
Greek scholar who has greatly influenced Western philosophy and modern intellectual history. He
was well known for his writings because of their attacks on society. Nietzsche s writings have
influenced many authors and philosophers.
The Genealogy of Morals consists of a preface and three essays interrelated. These essays are used
to get Nietzsche s point across that morality in not all genetic, but that society plays a big part in
one s moral code. In his writings, he uses examples that fit each attack on society.
In the Preface, Nietzsche states that the Russian novelist Dostoyevsky is the only person who has
taught him ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Nietzsche defines guilt and punishment as a form of a debt owed and a way of securing debt. The
rise of slave morality gave these moral concepts present meaning. However, bad conscience is our
tendency to see ourselves as sinners which originates from the development of society to inhibit our
animal instincts for aggression and cruelty and to turn them inward upon ourselves. If humans did
not have a conscience, they would do whatever they want to without thinking.
The concept of guilt is related to the concept of debt. If an autonomous individual inflicts pain on
another individual as result of anger, they will feel that they would owe the individual for the pain
they caused. (debt) The individual might choose form of punishment that the autonomous
individual must endure. Nietzsche states that punishment is just a way to secure payment.
In his third essay, What do ascetic ideals mean? Nietzsche Brings to light the meaning of ascetic
ideals. He explains the meaning through three different perspectives, the artist, philosopher, and the
priest. From the artist s perspective, the ideal means nothing or too many. Nietzsche selects
Richard Wagner a German composer as example. Artist s always require some ideology to
motivate themselves. Therefore, we should look to philosophers if we are to get closer to finding
out the meaning of ascetic

The Populism Movement
The election of 1892, the year former President Grover Cleveland was reelected after defeating
President Benjamin Harrison. President Grover Cleveland lost the electoral vote in 1888 against
Harrison, but in 1892 Cleveland made a comeback. Even though President Cleveland and President
Harrison represented the two main parties, a third party had risen in popularity during this time.
The People Party received popularity in this election, making them the first third party to receive
electoral votes since the 1860 Presidential Race. The populismmovement started as way for
farmers to fight back against dropping crop prices, forced debt, and economic abuse received by
capitalistic corporations. Populism in other words is the movement made by farmer in order to
receive economic, political, and social equality in the reconstructing country. Farmers during this
time were in debt due to the investments on machinery but did not produce enough wealth. Surely
farmers had huge field but due to inflation of crop prices, farmers were not treated in the same
economic or social class as those in corporations. In the election in 1892 the Peoples Party

This has included ordinary people, Kings, Queens, Generals, Nobleman, Royalty, and everything in between, and has endured since the beginning of the modern era, Anno Domini. When the Roman Empire collapsed, the Catholic Church was the only powerful authority not complete disrupted by the attack by barbarians. In fact, the work of great Popes is what helped their power increase even more. The newly christened barbarians, done by the Pope Gregory the Great, inaugurated a new age in Jesus Christ called Christendom. All culture in Christendom conformed to that of the Church s, and, with its headquarters in Rome, the powerful papal monarchs , as they were called, controlled the machine that was the Catholic Church. With newfound challenges of the Renaissance, the Protestant Reformation, and the increase in the Enlightenment s rationalism and liberalism, an undermining of the Church began to set forth a new era and problems for the Church that they tried to come back from. Reorganizing at Trent set a new grim determination for the Church that catapulted their morale against ideas of modern culture. The last of these increasing troubles being the French Revolution, after which an immense religious revival manifested into the conversion of the elite in Europe, and extended their reach to every corner of the world, but mostly focusing on the moral problems taking place in the 19th century influenced by the Industrial Revolution. In the 20th century, the Church s opposition to modernism came to an end when Pope John XXIII, with extreme boldness, turned its back on four centuries of extreme ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Advantages Of Participant Observation Ng Wai Lung,John 4046650 CLB9018 3 1.What is participant observation and how it is deployed in ethnography?Elaborate on its advantages and disadvantages Participant Observation is a method for collecting data in qualitative research, such as ethnography ,seeking to obtain an in depth understanding and data of the research subjects locating in particular selected field. The hypocrisy of sustaining the objectivity during the process of ethnographic research has been under much more suspicion nowadays. It implies a fundamental transformation from the preceding emphasis on the objectivity, carrying out the observation as an outsider point of view. Contrary to the outsider approach applied in the traditional ethnography, participant observation requires the observers to engage with and immerse themselves in the field,in which fieldwork is being carried out.The observers would establish a relationship with the informants and the research subjects while keep contacting over a period of time. The participant observation involves not only observation, but also natural conversations,interviews,questionnaires...etc. It is a research method for ethnography. The description of the setting of the events during the process of observation tend ... • 6. Rhyme Scheme Of The Tyger By William Blake William Blake was more than just a poet. He was an artist, a politician and a theologian. Blake was born in 1757 and died in 1827, He was known for his artistic talent and political involvement. Born in to a middle class family in London, Blake was one of 7 children born to his family, but only 5 of them survived past infancy. Blake did not receive any formal schooling and mostly spent his days wandering the streets of London (PoetryFdn.). When he was ten he was enrolled in art school for multiple years and when he was 14 he became an apprentice engraver to James Basire (Poetry Fdn.). His work as an engraver allowed him to make money and continue to hone his artistic ability. Blakes artistry is clearly seen in most of his poems, whether its his early political works such as America or his classic lyric poems like The Tyger. (Poetry Fdn.). The poem is a trochaic tetrameter meaning it consists of 8 syllables per line starting with a stressed then unstressed syllable. The rhyming pattern of the poem is aabb, ccdd, eeff, gghh, iijj, and then ending with a repeated aabb. The interesting thing about The Tyger is that it contains a catalexis, which means that the last foot of every line is missing a syllable. Blake uses the catalexis in The Tyger to stress certan images, such as In what distant deeps or skies. / Burnt the fire of thine eyes? (Lines 5 6). The readers are left with these vivid details that keep the poem interesting. Another purpose of the catalexis is in keeping the poem abrupt. It gives the poem a harsh almost aggressive tone, one that reflects the speaker s view of the tiger and the God who made it. • 7. Automatic Fire Sprinkler System Essay The automatic fire sprinkler system was one of the earliest sprinkler systems placed into effect. The origin of the modern day automatic sprinkler system dates back to the early 1800 s. The first automatic sprinkler system was created in England in the 1806 by John Carey. It consisted of a pipe with valves held closed by counterweights attached by string. When flames burned through the string the counterweight dropped to the floor, which opened the valve that released the water and extinguished the fire. As the 1800 s progressed, the basic pipe system for sprinklers was becoming more prevalent across England. It began to pop up in textile mills all through out the country. In 1864, as sprinkler system use grew, Major Stewart Harrison of... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Not only does this cool what ever material is heated, but it can pre cool any materials that are not yet heated or involved in the fire. This helps prevent the spread of that fire through the structure saving the structure and protecting its contents from further fire and water damage. Although the automatic sprinkler system is the most widely used type of fire protection system, it does have its limitations and uses inside certain building types. As previously stated, it is generally used in commercial buildings. This is because there are usually no special hazardous materials in these buildings, or any large quantity of materials that would react negatively with the application of water. It is installed in buildings such as hospitals, schools, and office buildings for life safety first, then building preservation. Since a proper functioning sprinkler system will reduce the fire size and prevent its spread, it will allow for more time of evacuation for these buildings. This is especially useful in hospitals and nursing home settings where there may be a large number of immobile people that require time to move to a more safe location. The automatic sprinkler system is also used in buildings such as warehouses. It is used here due to the large amount of combustible material that goes along with mass storage. ... Objectivism is the Philosophy of rational individualism and morality. (Thomas, n.p) It holds that there is no greater moral goal than to achieve happiness; which is exactly what Howard strives to achieve through creating building to please him, not others. Objectivism is optimistic, holding that the universe is open to human achievement and happiness and that each person has within him the ability to live a rich, fulfilling, independent life. (Matthew, np) Objectivism also praises individuality and condemns altruism, stating that to achieve you must only help yourself. Because of his beliefs, Howard feels that he does not require punishment for the explosion of the Cortlandt homes. He also feels that because of the details of his ideals he had to destroy the buildings. Bringing in the objectivist philosophy it was a matter of integrity; of which Howard was very protective. He fights to keep his integrity and the destruction of the Cortlandt house was the result. Howard chose to represent himself in the trial; during the trial, Howard chooses the least sympathetic jury and makes his case by using a moving speech. Howard chooses that specific jury, because he knew that if the jury did not have a basic understanding of the planks of Objectivism then they would not have been able to comprehend and agree with his standing on the destruction of the Cortlandt homes. ( EU Matters.ie Information about Ireland s membership of the EU. n.d.) The first step in the European Union was the creation of the European Coal and Steel Community (ECSC) in 1950. The foreign minister of France at the time, Robert Schuman, believed that the heavy industries of coal and steel in Europe should be united to secure a lasting peace. Initially, France and Germany were the main countries involved with the European Coal and Steel Community, but Belgium, the Netherlands, Italy, and Luxembourg also joined. With these six countries intertwined in the coal and steel industry one member country could not make weapons on their own for wars without affecting the other member countries. • 14. Communication Theories And Concepts Of The Film Outsourced When talking about communication, it is essential to understand what this term really means. There are many different definitions pertaining to this word, but none of them can be considered right or wrong. On the other hand, Samovar and Porter suggested one of the most basic and influential definitions: communicationis the ability to share our ideas and feelings (Samovar and Porter, 1995, p. 27). Mr. Todd s journey in the film Outsourced greatly reflects on a wide variety of communication theories and concepts, as well as my personal experience in the same country, India. When referring to communication, it is fundamental to grasp The Shannon and Weaver Model that was invented in 1947. This is basically an exemplary of a few stages in which the information source called sender, sends the information to its destination, the receiver. Information obviously does not get to the receiver magically; this is why this model was invented. It is a way to illustrate how a person shares beliefs and ideas, and how they reach their destination. For example, at the beginning of the movie Outsourced, the employee called Todd Anderson asks his boss named Dave: Is this gonna take a while? when he was called to privately speak inside his office (Jeffcoat, 2006, 1:26). In this case, the sender is Dave who sends the information through a place called channel, which then gets decoded before reaching its destination, Todd. Without using a Christianized filter of thought, many practitioners of animistic traditions fall victim to Pagan actions. It is easy for God s works to be misinterpreted, misused, and mistreated. Unless one can recognize that the spirits of their belief exist solely because of the Holy Spirit placed within them by the Lord, they risk performing idolatry and falling into polytheistic worship. However, when reviewed with a Christianized filter of thought, one may derive different messages through scripture. In Exodus, the Lord states that [t]hou shalt have no other gods before me. Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of anything that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth (Exo. 20. 4 5). While not necessarily dictating that the faithful should not believe in other spiritual entities, the Lord merely states that such entities should not be respected above Him. Faithful should not idolize anything in the skies, the earth, or the waters, although the skies, earth, and waters themselves may be another story. Regardless, these forces of nature are only divine because the Lord has made them so, and nothing should be respected above the Lord himself. These forces should not be worshipped. The Lord s faithful should not bow to them nor serve them. However, just as the faithful are commanded to love thy neighbor, the faithful that believe that aspects of the natural world embody spiritual entities should extend this precept to these spirits as well. When they love thy neighbor, they should extend their love to both the physical persons in their lives as well as to the spiritual persons in their lives, and should recognize all the while the differences between love ... A third grade teacher who taught history was teaching the basic information about different cultures than the actual culture from their perspectives. Another teacher taught more on inferential teaching, relating what we know and experienced in our own life. One of the teachers taught phonics by making a personal alphabet book with the help of the parents using letters that the child was familiar with or liked. • 33. Summary Of The Interlopers And The Machine That Won The War The Interlopers and The Machine That Won the War are two short stories that have many differences, but have a few similarities as well. The Interlopers is a short tale depicting a feud between two young men, Ulrich von Gradwitz and Georg Znaeym. Georg believes that the land currently under Ulrich s name actually belongs to him, therefore steals game from Ulrich s land just to spite him (Saki 82 83). After confronting each other, it is made clear that they both wish to take the other s life (83). Suddenly, a bolt of lightning struck a nearby tree, causing it to pin both men to the ground (84). The Machine That Won the War portrays the story of three men, Lamar Swift, John Henderson, and Max Jablonsky, who are discussing Earth s victory in the war against the planet Deneb (Asimov 1). Everyone believes that an ingenious computer called Multivac won the war, until Henderson, Jablonsky, and Swift admit that they didn t trust the information and changed it until they thought it appeared to be accurate (1 4). Differences in these stories include: characters, settings, and wrong doings. A few similarities consist of the reasons for actions explained in the stories, and what the characters rely on to make decisions and solve problems. Through showing differences and similarities, it will be made clear that stories like this that seem to have nothing alike can be related. The ITC or (United States International Trade Commission) conducts relief investigations on companies that import goods so they can make a determination on the import relief rate. The import companies really don t lose much when the import relief goes up. The cost of importing goods to the United States and paying the import relief is most often cheaper than manufacturing goods in the United States. The ITC looks at a company s earnings before taxes. To circumvent the ITC the managers of import companies often use multiple accrual accounts. By playing somewhat of a shell game with the ITC the import companies are able to hide assets or shift them to the next quarter to show a lower profit margin. The author conducted a cross sectional investigation of the accrual accounts of import companies. Her investigation revealed that the import companies suddenly report lower earnings and income just before the investigation period. The obvious concern of the import industry is illustrated by the drastic counter measures put in place by the managers of import companies. The methodology of the ITC is effective at protecting domestic producers and the American economy but it puts import companies in a difficult situation. When presented by the moral dilemma of altering reported income import companies must make a decision which in the minds of many theorists is not a decision at all. Because businesses are driven by profits and managers are paid by the shareholders to protect the best interest of the company they are forced to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

It s been observed from December 26 to January 1 every year since 1966. Karenga, a controversial figure in the black power movement, openly opposed Christian beliefs and originally declared that Kwanzaa should be an anti Christmas of sorts. The name Kwanzaa is derived from matunda ya kwanza, a Swahili phrase for first fruits, is based on traditional African harvest festivals, combining customs from several different cultures. Each of the seven days represents one of the seven principles of Kwanzaa, or nguzo saba. There are also seven symbols of Kwanzaa, which celebrants display prominently in their homes throughout the holiday. The colors of Kwanzaa are red, black and green the colors of the Pan African flag, which symbolizes unity among African people all over the world. Black represents the people, red their blood and green the earth and the future.
