The pericope I chose for my close reading assignment comes from Revelation chapter 22 verses 1 6.
When reading this pericope it quickly obvious the genre is apocalyptic. In the few short verses there is
evidence of an apocalyptic genre such as the means of revelation. Verse 5 says, Then the angel showed
me the river of the water of life, as clear as crystal. This pericope is apocalyptic because verse 1 is just
one example of the means of revelation. The genre is also apocalyptic because it has examples of
determinism. The restoration of the New Jerusalem is history moving forward towards a conclusion.
The last evidence of this pericope being apocalyptic literature is the division of history into the Old
and New Ages. The entire pericope is about the coming of the New Jerusalem, which is brining the
old age to a close. Trying to find the boundaries of the pericope it was slightly difficult, especially
when excluding chapter numbers from making the decision. Both chapter 21 and 22 talk about the
restoration God will do, including the New Jerusalem and heaven. If chapter 22 is depicting the
Garden of Eden will the garden be inside of the New Jerusalem? The start of this pericope begins in
verse 1 in chapter 22 because of the slight shift that takes place. The shift is in chapter 21 the

exchange between office equipment etc. These applications can be solved with the help of wireless ad
hoc networks that can be realized e.g., with Wi Fi protocols. The question arises, what theoretical
throughput different wireless standards can achieve, and how much the throughput will decrease when
data has to be transferred over several hops. This is a technology that enables un tethered wireless
networking environments where there is no wired or cellular infrastructure. Wireless Ad hoc Networks

Mercury investigates a study conducted in collaboration with researchers in England and Tasmania.
The study examines the relationship between the use of texting language and language skills in young
students. There has been a general consensus that the overuse of electronic devices must impair the
language ability. However the research found no negative relationship between formal writing skills
and the use of textisms . Furthermore the study suggests that texting can actually have a positive
effect. The article suggests that the reason this study reached conclusions that differ from previous

Seventeen distinct diseases run rampant through developing countries, known as the neglected tropical
diseases. They infect an average of 2.7 billion people world wide, but mainly infect those living in
poverty stricken countries. These diseases can lead to life long disabilities, disfigurement, and
promote poverty. Most of the infected countries live on an average of two U.S. dollars a day with no
access to healthcare, making some of the relatively cheap drug therapies unattainable. Even though the
neglected tropical diseases infect over two billion people and cause an average of five hundred
thousand deaths a year respectively, research and awareness for these diseases are virtually
nonexistent. Since these diseases are not found in first world countries with adequate health care,
research and funding is not seen as a priority.
The neglected tropical diseases are caused by different pathogens. Eight are caused by Helminths,
three by protozoa, two by viruses, and the remaining four diseases are caused by bacteria. The most
common of the seventeen diseases include: ascariasis, trichuriasis, hookworm infection,
schistosmoiasis, trachoma, onchocerciasis, and lymphatic filariasis.
Lymphatic filariasis, also known as elephantiasis, infects over a hundred and twenty million people a
year, with forty million left disfigured and incapacitated, and 1.3 billion at risk of infection. With a

Creatine is a natural substance that occurs in the body, it is also a supplement that has been tested by
numerus athletes over the years to see whether it has a positive effect on performance. However, there
is anecdotal evidence that suggests creatine supplementation may be the cause of negative side effects
such as dehydration, the increase of muscle cramping and an increase in blood pressure. One way the
supplementation of creatine can improve performance is by aiding the resynthesise ATP (Adenosine
Triphosphate) stores within the body in order to produce energy at a quicker rate therefore the most
common athletes to take creatine are high intensity power athletes who are repeated actions multiple
times. Such as those doing long distance events such as cycling, swimming and running, it may also
be used as a way of recovery for sprinters. A study carried out by Kreider R.B et al. (1998) concluded
that there were increases in the performance of isotonic lifting and sprinting during agility after taking
creatine supplements. Although creatine has been believed to help recovery, research undertaken by
Stroud et al. (1994), would suggest that there was no difference in the recovery periods. This review of
literature will examine as to whether creatine should be recommended to athletes based on current

Abstract
This experiment studied Mendel s law of independent assortment through observing three generations
of Drosophila melanogaster. His law was examined by looking at the inheritance patterns that
predicted genetic linkage, mapping distances and interference. Genes are located along chromosomes
and the distances between them vary. During recombination, these genes may become unlinked. The
frequency to which this occurs relies on the recombination frequency, in which a greater value
represents a greater distance between two loci. By looking at inheritance patterns and recombination
frequencies, this experiment showed that white eyes, short wings and forked bristles are X linked
traits. As well, dumpy wings and brown eyes are autosomal traits. The expected ratio of a dihybrid
cross of 9:3:3:1, was used to determine linkage between two loci. This was then verified using a chi
square test. Through analysis of our results, linkage existed between white eyes and short wings, as
well as between short wings and forked bristles. Linkage was also found for the strains that had
dumpy wings and brown eyes.
