Examples Of Allusions In The Hollow Men
T.S Eliot s The Hollow Men is a broad allegory for deliverance in a landscape reminiscent of
purgatory. Eliot provides examples of allusion, imagery, and paradox to describe a fully realized
apocalyptic scenario that affirms the hopelessness of a godless world. The poem begins two allusions:
literary and historical. Mr. Kurtz he dead is reference to Heart of Darkness by Joseph Conrad. Kurtz
was a man who had lost his humanity after traveling to Africa and succumbing to insanity. A penny for
the old Guy is a question traditionally asked by children on November 5th in England. The question
references Guy Fawkes, a British rebel infamous for his involvement in the Gunpowder Plot , set to
assassinate King James I. Both Kurtz and Fawkes are

Hello my Christian friends, welcome to my father Okonkwo funeral for the converts of the church. I
will not stand here in front of you today in a Christian church and tell you of the man the ibo people of
Umoufia saw. Yes, I will tell you that my father had a prosperous life, but I will mainly tell you of the
man I saw who killed good people before killing himself. I was told to write about the great Okonkwo
s life, and I will tell you nothing but the truth through my eyes.
My father was intimidating to many people, including my great friend Ikemefuna. Ikemefuna was
sacrificed by his village of Mbaino after one of their people killed someone from ours. He came to my
family timid, and Okonkwo made it harder for him to live here for the first ... Show more content on

It signaled bad things to come for all the villages in Umoufia, but Okonkwo just saw it as the people
of Amabe were dumb. Although he criticized those people when he heard the story, he did the same
thing for his village, but instead of wiping it all out, he decided to end the fight on his own.
I broke away from not only my family, but my village as well when I converted. I betrayed them at the
time for a better life for myself, but Okonkwo could not understand that. In fact, I may not be standing
here today if Uchendu didn t save me from the beating Okonkwo was giving me. He showed me that I
couldn t be my own man under him, so in order to better my life, I had to leave him for the church.
When I heard he was lifelessly hanging from a tree, I felt sorry for the man, but also felt a sense of
relief. He was my worst enemy in life, and he was gone from everyone s lives forever. I asked myself
why do I feel very little grief? The answer was because there was no longer any weight on my
shoulders, and I was now free to become my own

Socratic Method Of Socrates
During his lifetime, Socrates diligently sought out others to converse with ultimately forcing them to
confront their own lack of knowledge through employing various methods of teaching. The first
approaches Socrates used when discussing philosophical topics were the Socratic Method, in which he
asked his interlocutor questions in order to determine their knowledge of a topic and not allowing
them to provide examples but rather a clear definition. His method forced them to explore the topics
down to the roots of what they thought they knew until they were forced to admit a lack of knowledge.
Socrates also used a craft analogy which suggested that virtues were like a crafts. While Socrates may
have used this method to his advantage, it is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In addition to the previously discussed methods, Socrates also used craft analogy in his discussions as
a means of understanding moral principles. When using this method, Socrates compares a craft to
various different moral principles. This helps guide his student to their lack of understanding of the
virtue. In the discussion of piety, in Plato s Euthyphro dialogue, Socrates was able to employ craft
analogy to help Euthyphro realize his lack of understanding of piety. Euthyphro states that piety or
holiness, Socrates, appears to me be the part of justice which attends to the gods.. (12.) Socrates
responds by continuing his use of the Socratic Method, while employing craft analogy. He asks the
meaning of attention and suggests that only a skilled person, in their specific craft, is able to provide
such attention, and this art form is always beneficial to the other party, to which Euthyphro agrees.
Socrates then uses this to ask if he is suggesting that by his piety he is somehow improving or
benefiting the gods as it would be suggested. Euthyphro denies the implication and suggests rather
that the attention he is referring to is the kind which servants provide to their masters. Socrates
continues with craft analogy, suggesting a number of crafts, such as a house builder building a house,
all of which lead to something being accomplished. The

IFR represents a significant shift in the thinking approach to solving problems.
The idea of formulating the IFR is to clearly define the goal of improvement and to work back from
that point, thus eliminating rework by solving the right problem initially.
A basic concept of TRIZ is that systems evolve towards increased ideality, where the extreme result of
this evolution is the ideal final result.
2. TRIZ: List and describe each of the 9 laws of evolution. (900 1200 words) (40 points)
Answer: The following are the laws of evolution:
1. Law of increasing degree of ideality: This is the first law of the evolution of technological systems.
Evolution of technological system moves in the direction of an increasing degree of ideality. This
means that in the process of evolution, a system, which executes some functions, becomes less
complicated, costly, it becomes capable of performing its functions better, or it performs more
functions. A mixture of these evolutionary processes also often occurs. For example, early computers
need lot of power to operate and give small output only. But evolution of computer is moving towards
ideality.
2. Law of non uniform evolution of subsystems: Any technological organization meets some needs,
which usually grow swiftly than the refinement of the system. This also makes an evolutionary
pressure causing the occurrence of structure conflicts. The rate of evolution of various parts of a
system is not uniform;

Nationalism In Latin America
Anderson s concept of the imagined community highlights how the Media Luna regional identity as
distinct from the highland is socially constructed. In Anderson s study of the formation of nationalism
in Latin America, he notes how the boundaries of national identity have been re drawn by the creole
elites to encompass non Spanish speaking, indigenous groups. In so doing, that which was Spanish
was made foreign and that which was indigenous was native, even if the creole elite maintained racial
hierarchies. Understanding national identity as malleable and social constructed helps us understand
how the cruceños movement can re shape their identity, drawing on indigenous identity to legitimize
their claim to autonomy. Fabricant and Postero (2013)

Nationalism in Europe in the 19th century Essay
Nationalism is way of thinking both political and socially to create a community united by: history,
ethnicity, religions, common culture, and language. Numerous effects occurred while establishing a
Nationalist community, some effects were a long term impact on Nationalism, and other was short
term impacts on Nationalism.
Bloody Sunday was a big impact of Nationalism, what started out as a peaceful march of Petersburg
workers marching to the Winter Palace led by Father Gapon turned out to be a nightmare. The
marchers wanted to establish an eight hour work day, establish minimum wage, and assemble a
constitution, while the marchers marched they was fired upon by Russian troops and several hundred
marchers was killed. People believed that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Piedmont s Victor Emmanuel was declared the kingdom of Italy and unification was completed at the
end of the Franco Prussian War in 1871.
A long term impact of Nationalism was an essay from Giuseppe Mazzini On the Duties of Man , it
was written for the workers residing in England. Mazzini preaches toward humanity, and believes that
if you are not ready to violate your law of life then you are not ready to become a whole human
family. The biggest impact the Nationalism was the redrawing of the map of Europe. Mazzini s
believed that Europe was jealous of righteous powers of others and greed took over. There was much
conflict and fighting to settle the new territories of Europe. The reason that the redrawing of the map
of Europe was such a big impact on Nationalism is because the boundaries of Europe still hold true
today. Mazzini was a leader of the Roman Republic was failed, and began to look for leadership some
else besides Italy. Another long term impact of Nationalism was the Frankfurt Constitution, this was a
long and detailed document, and it entailed the boundaries of Germany and its enforcement of its
provisions, and was written for all of Germany, which was mostly consisted of Liberals. Examples of
the Frankfurt Constitution are: All Germans are treated equal before the law, all special class
privileges are abolished, no citizen shall accept a decoration from a foreign state, and Public office
shall be open to all men on the basis

Domestic Violence And Drugs And Crime
Violence and drugs are typical factors of a crime related lifestyle. Drug users may not take part in
legitimate economy and are exposed to situations that encourage crime so the odds and frequency of
association in illegal activity is increased ( Fact, 1994). Drugs effect the behavior of users and often
time generates violence and can snowball into many other poor decisions. In Centervale, California,
domestic violence is not taken lightly. Independently, domestic violence is an extremely serious matter
but adding other violations to the list of charges, the offender is staring at a heavy sentence. In this
case, Abby and Bobby have been in trouble with the law and this incident outside their home may be
what puts them both away for a very long time.
My officer and I received a call to respond to a domestic abuse situation. When we arrived at the
scene, Abbey and Bobby appear to be having an altercation outside of their house. There is blood
trickling down the side of Abby s head that she seemed to be oblivious to, her speech is garbled, and
Bobby has scratches all over on his hands and face. With this incident continuing outside and the
physical evidence, it has granted probable cause for an arrest. Probable cause is defined as facts and
circumstances that would lead a reasonable person to believe that there is evidence of a crime located
at a particular place or on a person (Argosy University Online, 2017). Both Abby and Bobby are

Venus Lamenting the Death of Adonis (Benjamin West, 19768) the oil painting is one of the paintings

the man, Adonis. This painting is done during the neo classicism times in the early 19th Century.
Benjamin West captured a legendary topic during those times. Legend has is it Venus was scratched by

constantly reminded to be careful the vicious animals he was hunting since Adonis was only a human.

The Twilight Sag Teenage, Vampire, Romance
Twilight Saga: Teenage, Vampire, Romance The Twilight Saga by Stephanie Myer created a massive
fan following that grew into a supernatural franchise. The story of Bella and Edward was in the hands
of countless teenagers and adults alike, captivating audiences with the classic story of young love, but
with a vampire twist. The books were published starting when I was a young teenager, and I was not
immune to the charms of a sparkly vampire fighting his desire for love for the sake of her safety. I
religious read all four books, a few times, until the hard covers cracked at the edges, and the open
books fell open to my favorite parts from being opened for so long. After the books created a
sensation, a movie series was created. In a non surprising fashion, the movies were popular, but as any
book lover will tell you about any movie made after a book, the book was better, way better. Reading
the story at the time, I ignored critics of the book, swearing by its love story and defending the text as
it stood in my world. Re reading this book as an adult who has continued to read, I came to the
realizations that my tastes have evolved over time. I still enjoyed the story during my re read this past
time, but the writing was not as striking; gone was the passion and addiction so deep I could not set
the books down. The first time I read Breaking Dawn, I read it straight it twelve hours not stopping for

Beowulf is an Anglo-Saxon Hero Essay
According to the definition, a hero is one who embodies the values of their society. In the epic Anglo
Saxon poem Beowulf, written by an anonymous author, the character Beowulf is used to convey the
value that Anglo Saxons placed on courage, strength, and loyalty. Courage is certainly a trait which
every hero must possess, particularly because no one wants a hero who is a coward. Thankfully,
Beowulf is no coward. When Beowulf hears of Grendel s exploits in Denmark, he travels to the distant
land, without hesitation, to rid the Danes of that demon...conceived by a pair of those monsters born of
Cain, murderous creatures banished by God . Beowulf s courage is displayed even more when he
chooses not to fight with weapons, despite knowing ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Beowulf s last test of courage comes in his old age when his people are threatened by a mighty
dragon. Beowulf felt as if something he had done had caused the irascible beast to wreck havoc on his
people, killing and destroying them and their homes with its molten breath. Knowing what had to be
done, Beowulf bravely faced the dragon, while all of his people, except for one, fled in fear. His last
battle, which ended in death, displayed Beowulf s unwavering courage, the type that every hero
should possess. Strength is without a doubt one of the most important traits which a hero should
possess and the Anglo Saxon s felt the same way. Beowulf s strength can be compared to that of the
American comic book heroes, Superman and Batman, for he is deemed the strongest and greatest of
the Geats . The first time that his strength is witnessed, not just spoken of, is when he kills Grendel by
ripping the monstrous villain s arm off. But his most notable display of strength occurs when he enters
into combat with Grendel s mother. When everything seems to be going all wrong for Beowulf, he
spies a heavy sword hanging on the wall of her lair. With all his power and might, Beowulf drew the
sword, hammered by giants...and....so massive that no ordinary man could life it , from its scabbard.

The Heian Period Essay
The Heian Period from about 794 1185 A.D. was an impressive era in Japanese history. Considered
Japan s Classical Age, it was a period of wealth and sophistication. Peace and prosperity, high culture,
powerful clans, new ideas and relative independence of foreign influence marked this time.
The move to the capital of Heian kyō (modern day Kyoto) was motivated in large part on a desire by
Emperor Kammu to reduce the substantial influence exercised by the monasteries in Heijō kyō
(modern day Nara). Nara was patterned after the capital city of Tang, China, and its religion was based
on their brand of Buddhism. Earlier Imperial sponsorship of Buddhism had politicized the clergy,
resulting in power and corruption within their leadership. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Great care was taken in color coordination of kimonos. In addition, lavish makeup was also prized,
and women of high caste were never seen in public without it. Even among men, good taste in dress
and manner were valued more highly than skill in battle.
The Heian Period marked a newfound independence in Japanese thought and brought with it a sense
of national pride that caused its people to begin a separation from the dominant Chinese influence.
Although trade continued on unofficial levels, Japanese rulers severed official ties with China.
Big changes were taking place in Japanese writing, as well. Although Chinese remained the official
written language of the court, Kana, a simplified method of writing, was developed. Each symbol was
a simplified version of Chinese characters and represented spoken syllables used in Japanese. The ease
of learning led to broader literacy and many poems and stories being written. Many women possessed
the ability to read and write and were able to express their ideas, one of the best examples being The
Tale of Genji, by Murasaki Shikibu. Believed to be the world s first novel, it offers a detailed look at
Heian court life, rituals, and culture. Educated women such as these were often able to progress in
Heian society, with considerable rights and privileges. As such, they filled roles at all levels and were
often major players in politics and power struggles.
This period also saw the beginnings of the samurai.

Disadvantages Of Sexual Harassment
Think about having to be forced or coerced to demeaning and misappropriate conduct day in and out
because you fear losing your job or being demoted to a less desirable position. Focus on how many
victims of sexual harassment underwent calling out sick so that they would not have to be manipulated
into doing acts that were degrading and immoral with someone they believed they could trust, like
their supervisor. Moreover, walking into an atmosphere where work is not fun, but stressful and causes
you much anguish and dissatisfaction, only because you are having to undergo much discomfort and
shameful acts. Further, think about the thought of walking into your office everyday in anxiety and
fear because you need your job and want your job. However, but you did not ask for the unwelcome
sexual gestures, inappropriate touching, pressure to perform certain unlawful duties or be given
stipulations such as do as you are told and instructed or be terminated. All the more, this is what many
of the past case victims were accustomed to and subjected to each day while in the workplace.
Consequently, this is what many victims of sexual harassment endure each day because they are too
afraid to stand up and say anything to anyone because of fear of not being believed, afraid of losing
their jobs, or generally because they were not sure what could be done.
Even before sexual harassment and retaliation become widely known terms it was very much present
and prevalent in many organizations.

The Four Stages And Functions Of The Skeletal System
There are 270 bones in the human body at birth, decreasing to 206 by adulthood due to the fact that
some bones fuse together as we grow. The functions of the skeletal system are numerous. It provides a
framework for the body; produces blood cells; provides protection for organs; helps us breathe; acts as
a warehouse for mineral storage and allows for movement.
Bones in the human body form in the process called ossification. There are four stages in ossification,
1.) Embryonic bone formation; 2.) Bone growth throughout life starting in infancy through adulthood;
3.) Bone remodeling, and 4.) Fracture (breaks in the bone) repair.
The visible layer of a bone is called the periosteum, which is a type of tough connective tissue. The
periosteum contains blood vessels, lymph vessels, nerves and cells that assist in rebuilding damaged
bone tissue. Additionally, ligaments and tendons attach to the periosteum. The end of the bone is
called the epiphysis, and the region between the ends is called the diaphysis. On examination of a
bone, you can see the epiphyseal plate, often called the growth plate. This looks like a line dividing
the diaphysis and epiphysis. Inside the bone is a hollow channel. This is called the medullary cavity,
and acts as a storage place for yellow and red bone marrow. Yellow marrow gets its color from high
fat content. Red marrow makes blood cells.
There are 2 types of bone tissue, spongy and compact bone. Compact bone is hard and usually found
in the shafts of long bones, and in the outer layer of other types of bones. (There are 4 types of bones,
long, short, flat and irregular bones.) Compact bone, as its name implies, is tightly packed, making it
strong and dense.
Spongy bone is the interior of the bone. Spongy bone has larger spaces than compact bone, giving it
the appearance of sponge. Spongy bone is also lighter, because it is not packed so tightly, and also
gives a space for the red bone marrow.
Intramembranous ossification is the simplest bone formation method. The flat bones of the skull, most
facial and mandibular bones, and the medial clavicle are formed this way. Chemical messengers
causes cells to the mesenchyme (tissue from which most connective tissue forms) to cluster at an

Application Virtualization For A Virtual Machine Monitor (...
1. Introduction
Virtualization is a term used to describe technology that uses abstraction to instruct a guest operating
system, data storage, or network device to use underlying shared hardware or software as described by
Pearce et al. [1]. Abstraction is managed at a software layer known as a virtual machine monitor
(VMM) or hypervisor. The VMM or hypervisor emulates hardware to guest operating systems and
applications, which includes core processor unit (CPU), memory, input/output (I/O), and network

application virtualization, network virtualization, storage virtualization, and desktop virtualization [1,

technology.
The VMM and hypervisor software layer provides security challenges that should be addressed in
order to protect resources and data within virtualization. For example, this additional layer of
technology opens up new paths which an attacker can use to break into and interrupt a system or

VMM is compromised, then the virtual environment managed by the VMM could be compromised as
well.

Celibacy in the Ministry of the Catholic Church
Introduction
The church has a large influence over the people, from the ancient times up until our modern age. The
church, as we know it, is composed of various members who all contribute to fulfill a holy calling, and
one of its constituents, who work closely with the public, are the priests. They make up the
embodiment of the Catholic Church, their very existence is what makes the church operate as it is,
meaning that they have an essential role to the Catholic system. With this in mind, priests represent the
very image of the church so issues associated with the priests are also identified in relation to the
church. As of now, there have already been various matters concerning the conduct of priests
instigated by society. One of these said issues are
Celibacy is the act of abstinence from marriage implicitly or explicitly made, for a more immaculate
devotion to chastity, by all those who are a member of the Holy Order. Priestly celibacy has been
observed by the Church for centuries with a high recognition, and retains its value undiminished even
in our time when the outlook of men and the state of the world have undergone such profound
changes. Amid the modern stirrings of opinion, a predisposition has been expressed, to ask the Church
to reconsider this specific convention. It is said that in the world of our time the observance of
celibacy has come to be difficult or even impossible. Necessity
One of the main reasons why it is necessary is because everyone is

The Real Smartphone
We have endless choices to choose from when it comes to purchasing a smart phone. Some base their

Google Android s Smartphone Superiority over Apple s IOS...
If you are a dedicated iPhone consumer you must realize that you have basically bought the same
phone over and over again. It is time to trash the iPhone and get a new Android. Although Apple s
tyrannical iPhones took the cake by far in the beginnings of the smartphone revolution, Google
Android soon came in to assert its dominance over the now pathetic iPhone, much like an omega wolf
taking down an alpha wolf to become the new leader of the pack. With Android s wide variety of
smartphones, like the well known Samsung Galaxy S4 and HTC One, consumers have more options
than ever. Also, the Android phones themselves are unequivocally better when it comes to
customizability. On Apple s part, software features are severely lagging; Whereas, ... Show more

The customizability of Android, in comparison to the iPhone, is like comparing a rich man to a
peddler. Android is rich with customizability options like the ability to root, which basically gives you
the privilege to do whatever you want to your phone by the way of software customization(Black Dog
Media Limited 96). If you are not at all knowledgeable of how to operate a smartphone, most Android
smartphones have an available easy mode on it, which makes the phone as easy to use as a Jitterbug.
However, Apple, the peddler in this circumstance, has few customizability features which are limited
to folders, home and lock screen background changes, a favorite s bar at the bottom and changing the
order of the apps, all of which use to set Apple apart; however, now Android devices can do as well.
Android devices have so many available features (refer to list) and more (Kovach, 11 Things Samsung
s Galaxy S4 Can Do That The iPhone 5S Can t ). After hearing this how many of you would rush to
the Apple Store if it included these features? Probably almost all of you, but the iPhone does not
include these features. Instead Apple has only a limited number of features and options, which create a
less user friendly interface than that of its Android competitor.

Decline Of Boxing In America
This research study aims to investigate and offer why the decline of boxing in America happened. It is
a fact that the people of America used to see boxing programs with a lot enthusiasm and excitement.
In addition to this, it has also been observed that all from of media (including print media and
electronic media) also used to give special attention to this sport. This situation got ultimately changed
and this sport, boxing, had to face decline or failure, in the past few decades. It was plenty of factors

involved in the decline of American boxing industry.
Diminishing of Heavyweight Division
According to Silverman (2012), one of the major causes or factors, which were involved in the
declining trends of boxing in America, is diminishing use of heavyweight division. It has been
examined that one of the major aspects, which caused people of America to get engage in other sports
is the stoppage of heavyweight division in boxing. This idea was supported by Bernick and Banks
(2013), according to which, the citizens of America loved to experience knockouts, which were quite
impossible without heavyweight divisions. With the passage of time, they lost their interest from
boxing and found other interesting and eye catching sports, like football, cricket, hockey, etc. It is a

Historical Fiction Book Report of The Hope by Herman Wouk
Historical Fiction Book Report:
The Hope by: Herman Wouk
The book The Hope is the story of Zev Barak, Benny Luria, Sam Pasternak, Kishote, four of Israel s
army officers during the major battles and struggles of Israel from 1948 until 1967. The War of
Independence, The Six Day War, and the 1956 Sinai Campaigns were all major events that had major
effects on Israel.
The book starts out with the war of independence in the town of Latrun with the Haganah 7th brigade.
The battle of Latrun was a battle that took place in beginning phases of the war. This battle was a
failure to the Haganah 7th brigade, which was newer formed unit. The main road between Tel Aviv
and Jerusalem which was commanded by the Latrun fortress. Arab forces were trying to take over the
fortress and deny jews from entering into Jerusalem. This particular battle and the events depicted
around and about the battle in the book are events and occurrences of actual history but it is a
simplified version of the events, of course. But the things that are not actual or real things in history
are the characters. Sam Pasternak is the fictional character used to illustrate the tasks of Colonel
Chaim Herzog which was a Israeli army officer who became an army general, later a popular historian
of the military, and then took on Israel s envoy to the UN, he even took on two terms as President of
Israel. The story of Burma Road in the book, like the battle of Latrun, is simplified. All though, in the

Mass Media And Its Effect On The Air Waves
Mass media distribution has been around since the invention of the printing press. (Gerbner, 1999)
However, broadcast radio presented a higher level of distribution speed to this process and allowed for
an extended reach to consumers. Since its creation, this technology has been controlled by FCC
regulations and advertising support, limiting the freedom of the broadcasters so all of the possible
listeners are happy. Between the government maintenance and listening trends, the range of music and
content on the air waves has been reduced to 5 basic genres. The introduction of the internet has
allowed this medium to once again evolve. The reach has been greatly extended, advertising made
optional and freedom of use increased. This being said, the largest attraction to internet radio is its
ability to be customized by the listener. Historically, the concept of internet radio has been around
since the early 1990s. These broadcasts were still very limited because most of them were streams
from terrestrial radio stations or niche talk shows. Carl Malamud began this phenomena with a weekly
computer talk show, interviewing experts and streaming it openly online. These types of broadcasts
became so popular that The Rolling Stone began playing a concert over the web as well. This idea
would be copied over and over again by every musician and music producer. As file sharing spread
and download speeds increased, issues began to rise between music streamers and the

CAR CULTURE/CORBIS After the grown ups had gone to bed, Tommy and I shifted the Buick into

Possibly a kid who d never been on a horse could ride at a gallop without killing himself. Possibly one

Buying Sex Essay
Buying Sex
The film is a documentary that focuses on the controversial debate about the pending law reforms on
whether prostitution should be prohibited. Though it does not give a position on whether prostitution
should be legalized, prohibited or decriminalized, it evokes a thoughtful discussion while illustrating
the various perspectives of the oldest profession. Of importance in the debate is the people on both
sides that are affected that is the sex worker and the advocate, Valerie Scott while on the other side is a
former sex worker, Trisha Baptie who has turned abolitionist with a desire to see prostitution
decriminalized. The debate revolves around those for legalizing the trade in order to empower sex

The payment part of the agreement brings about the buying aspect of prostitution. There is a thin line
between the two and only the law provides legal distinctions with pornography enjoying legal
immunity while prostitution is condemned. Despite the legal differences, both involve payment for sex
which is the drawing line. Whereas the main problem is sex trafficking which can at times involve
child prostitution, pornography can easily promote sex trafficking. It is also important to have the law
look at it from this connection because pornography can be used to cover up and fuel sex trafficking.
Swedish law model and gender equality
While many countries condemn women involved in prostitution, they exclude men without whom the
trade could not thrive. Swedish law is exceptional because rather than victimize the seller it targets
those paying for prostitution. The laws signify dramatic milestones in promoting gender equality and
taking off the stigma from the prostitute. With the aim of eradicating the vice from the root, the law
posits that if there are no buyers, the prostitute will get off the streets. The law takes the economics

Analysis Of A House Divided
A filmed named A House Divided by John Kent Harrison was based on a true story where Amanda

was born a fair white skin. Dickson and her mother raised her without knowing her true mother.
Amanda grown but Dickson died so he left all his estate to her daughter Amanda. However, Dickson s
brother, Henry, knew Amanda s true identity and he contest David Dickson last will. Mr. Dickson set
an attorney, Charles Dubose, to represent Amanda in the court; to fight for her inheritance from her
father. Even though later in the story Mr. Dubose realizes the true identity of Amanda, he still
continues to help her win her case. In the end, the council decided that Amanda will be keeping the
estate that her late father gave to her. One of my reaction to the movie was about the role of Sam
Waterson as David Dickson where even though he was given an unlikable role as a slave owner, he
was seen as a sympathetic character even after he died. Slave owners Georgia are known to be cruel,
brutal and they see their slaves as a property. They would treat their slaves inhumanely; however,
David Dickson was seen as a loving father, even though he knows that her daughter is a mixed race,
he listens to Julia (a black slave, mother of Amanda) to give rewards to slaves whoever works hard
and eventually reward them with a small plot of land for them to grow crops for their own family and

The Landlady By Roald Dahl
The theme in the short story, The Landlady , by Roald Dahl is that naive people who judge outward
appearances should avoid trusting deceptive strangers because this can result in death. The first
example is when Billy first enters the Bed and breakfast and puts his stuff down. There were no hats
and coats in the hall, there were no umbrellas, no walking sticks nothing (Dahl 26). This means that
the place is empty because it is bad. This shows that Billy is naive and lacks wisdom. Furthermore,
when talking with the landlady she says that Temple and Mulholland are still on the 4th floor together.
But my dear boy, he never left. He s still here. Mr.Temple is also here. They re on the fourth floor,
both of them together ( Dahl 32). These are signs of danger because usually, someone who hears that

More importantly, when Billy and the landlady first meet each other, the landlady portrays herself as a
good person. She was forty five or fifty years old, and the moment she saw him, she gave him a warm,
welcoming smile (Dahl 24). This presents that the landlady is purposely misleading Billy to think that
she is a good person when she is really not. This relates to the theme because the landlady is tricking
Billy to thinking she is a good person so that he would stay. In the short story, there is a lot of
figurative language. In fact, the author Roald Dahl uses foreshadowing to create suspense. For
example, the tea tasted faintly of bitter almonds (Dahl 34). This quote shows foreshadowing because it
gives the reader an idea of what the tea might contain in it, which was poison. In addition, the author
uses imagery to give the reader an idea of how the character looks like. For instance, the back was
hard and cold, and when he pushed the hair to one side with his fingers, he could see the skin
underneath, grayish black and dry and perfectly preserved (Dahl

Advantages Of Data Compression
1. INTRODUCTION
COMPRESSION
What is compression?
Data compression is the method of reducing the number of bits to store or transmit the data. It reduces
the size of data to save storage space or speed transmission. Cost is aldo decreased for storage and
network bandwidth. Compression is performed by a program that uses an algorithm on how to shrink
the size of the data.
For data transmission, compression can be performed on the data content or on the entire transmission
unit.. When information is sent or received via the Internet, large files, either singly or with others as
part of an archive file, may be transmitted in a .ZIP, gzip or other compressed format.
Text compression can be as simple as removing all unwanted characters, inserting a single repeat ...

After all this we come to the question about why do we need compression? What is the need? And in
what way will it benefit us? Data compression is needed because it allows the data to be stored
without taking up an unnecessary amount of space. Data compression uses some algorithms to reduce
the amount of actual space that the data would take up.
The way the algorithm is compressed will determine how much data is compressed.. The compressed
data will be large if the amount of data is of extremely large size. Whereas compressed data will take
up very small space if the size of the data to be compressed is very small. [4]
Determining the amount of space that the data will take up is dependent on the algorithm that is used
to compress the data. If the algorithm is used properly and formatted specifically for the data, the data
can take up nearly no space. If a generalized algorithm is used, the data may not fit into a compressed
area. The algorithm is the determining factor on how well the data will compress, how much space it
will take up and how much of the data will be available after compression.[4]
Various Compression Techniques
The most basic compression techniques are

wrongdoings. The walls were tall and the ceiling had tinted windows. On the sides, there were glass

The Security Risk Associated With Apps
The fourth issue that I will touch upon is the security risk associated with apps. There are apps for
everything you can think of. A lot of companies do business over mobile or personal devices so not
understanding what downloading that app that might seem convenient at the time could be installing
malware and stealing your private information. It is important and I know firsthand because I own an
android device and the Google Play store is loaded with dangerous and malicious apps that look nice
upfront but are garbage in reality. So my advice would be to read reviews and do extensive research to
determine if the app is truly safe and if all else fails just don t download the app. The last end user
security and this by no means these are the most important or only issues because there are plenty,
these were in my opinion ones that I felt should be touched upon. For my fourth issue I would like to
discuss the issue with mobile devices or businesses supplying workers with mobile devices to work
away from the desk which is becoming increasingly more demanding and popular. With the increase
in companies utilizing mobile devices as way to mobilize and expand their business security risks will
only continue to worsen and this is because of the end user. Typically an individual s personal device
that has not been educated very well on the implications of bad security practices is going to have
some bad security concerns on that said device. Now give them a mobile business device

growing popularity of the Internet; music is being traded in a digital form online, often anonymously,
with the use of file sharing programs such as Morpheus, KaZaA, and Imesh, to name a few. The RIAA

percentage of consumers, the lack of immediately available music products certainly will not help the

Shakespeare Uses Manipulation, Lies, And Deceit
Shakespeare Uses Manipulation, Lies, and Deceit Many people believe lying is just a bad habit, but
that is not true. Lying is a part of human nature, no matter if it is a big or small lie, everyone has lied
before ( Lying: Bad Habit Or Human Nature? ). Everyone has different reasons for deceiving others,
but that does not change the fact that everyone has lied at some point. Human nature keeps the world
from achieving complete perfection, and Shakespeare allows this idea to be the foundation that his
plays build off of. The human nature of deception is found as a common theme in Shakespeare s
Hamlet and Much Ado About Nothing. Shakespeare uses these plays to communicate to his audiences
that sometimes in order to find the truth you have to use trickery and manipulation; thus creating the
idea that deception can be evil or harmless depending on the circumstances and the intentions of those
who are trying to decieve. Hamlet elucidates the dangers that deception can provoke in relationships
and shows the consequences of lying. Shakespeare shows his tangled opinions about deception
throughout Much Ado About Nothing by using manipulation to help benefit others and destroy
relationships; this allows Shakespeare to further show his idea that deception can be used for good and
evil. One of Shakespeare s main themes that is seen throughout many of his plays is deception; this
brings more dramatic components to the audience. Hamlet is a play that is solely created around a

Philosophy And Bertrand Russell s The Nature Of Philosophy
In The Nature of Philosophy by Bertrand Russell, it is said that if the study of philosophy has any
value at all for others than students of philosophy, it must be only indirectly, through its effects upon
the lives of those who study it . As such, the real value of philosophy comes from its study, and this
study should be compulsory in schools. This is due to its teaching of logic, rationality, and critical
thinking. This is also due to the course s teaching of the value of ethics. Finally, philosophy should be
made a compulsory subject as it has benefits that will positively affect a student s performance outside
of high school, in post secondary education and beyond.
The importance of logic and rationality in life should not be understated, and as philosophy teaches
logic to its students, it should thusly be made mandatory. A rather common sentiment is that too many
people are taken advantage of because of their lack of critical thinking, logic and deductive reasoning .
With a prevalence of advertisements and large figures in the media trying to persuade others to believe
them, a mandatory philosophy class would teach students how to effectively apply logic so that they
will no longer be taken advantage of when facing premises in the media and in the world around them
that have less to do with a sound argument and more to do with rhetorical devices. Rick Lewis writes
that philosophy is based upon logic and reasoning, and that learning how to use logic is critical

  • 2. Examples Of Allusions In The Hollow Men T.S Eliot s The Hollow Men is a broad allegory for deliverance in a landscape reminiscent of purgatory. Eliot provides examples of allusion, imagery, and paradox to describe a fully realized apocalyptic scenario that affirms the hopelessness of a godless world. The poem begins two allusions: literary and historical. Mr. Kurtz he dead is reference to Heart of Darkness by Joseph Conrad. Kurtz was a man who had lost his humanity after traveling to Africa and succumbing to insanity. A penny for the old Guy is a question traditionally asked by children on November 5th in England. I will not stand here in front of you today in a Christian church and tell you of the man the ibo people of Umoufia saw. Yes, I will tell you that my father had a prosperous life, but I will mainly tell you of the man I saw who killed good people before killing himself. When using this method, Socrates compares a craft to various different moral principles. This helps guide his student to their lack of understanding of the virtue. In the discussion of piety, in Plato s Euthyphro dialogue, Socrates was able to employ craft analogy to help Euthyphro realize his lack of understanding of piety. Euthyphro states that piety or holiness, Socrates, appears to me be the part of justice which attends to the gods.. (12.) Socrates responds by continuing his use of the Socratic Method, while employing craft analogy. He asks the meaning of attention and suggests that only a skilled person, in their specific craft, is able to provide such attention, and this art form is always beneficial to the other party, to which Euthyphro agrees. Socrates then uses this to ask if he is suggesting that by his piety he is somehow improving or benefiting the gods as it would be suggested. Euthyphro denies the implication and suggests rather that the attention he is referring to is the kind which servants provide to their masters. Socrates continues with craft analogy, suggesting a number of crafts, such as a house builder building a house, all of which lead to something being accomplished. The ... TRIZ: List and describe each of the 9 laws of evolution. (900 1200 words) (40 points) Answer: The following are the laws of evolution: 1. Law of increasing degree of ideality: This is the first law of the evolution of technological systems. Evolution of technological system moves in the direction of an increasing degree of ideality. This means that in the process of evolution, a system, which executes some functions, becomes less complicated, costly, it becomes capable of performing its functions better, or it performs more functions. A mixture of these evolutionary processes also often occurs. For example, early computers need lot of power to operate and give small output only. But evolution of computer is moving towards ideality. 2. Law of non uniform evolution of subsystems: Any technological organization meets some needs, which usually grow swiftly than the refinement of the system. This also makes an evolutionary pressure causing the occurrence of structure conflicts. The rate of evolution of various parts of a system is not uniform;

The move to the capital of Heian kyō (modern day Kyoto) was motivated in large part on a desire by Emperor Kammu to reduce the substantial influence exercised by the monasteries in Heijō kyō (modern day Nara). • 20. The Four Stages And Functions Of The Skeletal System There are 270 bones in the human body at birth, decreasing to 206 by adulthood due to the fact that some bones fuse together as we grow. The functions of the skeletal system are numerous. It provides a framework for the body; produces blood cells; provides protection for organs; helps us breathe; acts as a warehouse for mineral storage and allows for movement. Bones in the human body form in the process called ossification. There are four stages in ossification, 1.) Embryonic bone formation; 2.) Bone growth throughout life starting in infancy through adulthood; 3.) Bone remodeling, and 4.) Fracture (breaks in the bone) repair. The visible layer of a bone is called the periosteum, which is a type of tough connective tissue. The periosteum contains blood vessels, lymph vessels, nerves and cells that assist in rebuilding damaged bone tissue. Additionally, ligaments and tendons attach to the periosteum. The end of the bone is called the epiphysis, and the region between the ends is called the diaphysis. On examination of a bone, you can see the epiphyseal plate, often called the growth plate. This looks like a line dividing the diaphysis and epiphysis. Inside the bone is a hollow channel. This is called the medullary cavity, and acts as a storage place for yellow and red bone marrow. Yellow marrow gets its color from high fat content. Red marrow makes blood cells. There are 2 types of bone tissue, spongy and compact bone. Compact bone is hard and usually found in the shafts of long bones, and in the outer layer of other types of bones. (There are 4 types of bones, long, short, flat and irregular bones.) Compact bone, as its name implies, is tightly packed, making it strong and dense. Spongy bone is the interior of the bone. Spongy bone has larger spaces than compact bone, giving it the appearance of sponge. Spongy bone is also lighter, because it is not packed so tightly, and also gives a space for the red bone marrow. Intramembranous ossification is the simplest bone formation method. The flat bones of the skull, most facial and mandibular bones, and the medial clavicle are formed this way. Introduction Virtualization is a term used to describe technology that uses abstraction to instruct a guest operating system, data storage, or network device to use underlying shared hardware or software as described by Pearce et al. [1]. Abstraction is managed at a software layer known as a virtual machine monitor (VMM) or hypervisor. The VMM or hypervisor emulates hardware to guest operating systems and applications, which includes core processor unit (CPU), memory, input/output (I/O), and network traffic [1, pp.2]. There are different areas of virtualization, which include server virtualization, application virtualization, network virtualization, storage virtualization, and desktop virtualization [1, pp.8]. The branching out of virtualization into different areas displays the rapid growth of this technology. The VMM and hypervisor software layer provides security challenges that should be addressed in order to protect resources and data within virtualization. For example, this additional layer of technology opens up new paths which an attacker can use to break into and interrupt a system or network. The VMM can also be a single point of failure in a virtualized environment [1, pp. 33]. If the VMM is compromised, then the virtual environment managed by the VMM could be compromised as well. The primary focus of this literature review will be physical hosts, which are VMMs and hypervisors managing a virtualization environment. The Important Ideas section will ... Amid the modern stirrings of opinion, a predisposition has been expressed, to ask the Church to reconsider this specific convention. Between the government maintenance and listening trends, the range of music and content on the air waves has been reduced to 5 basic genres. The introduction of the internet has allowed this medium to once again evolve. The reach has been greatly extended, advertising made optional and freedom of use increased. This being said, the largest attraction to internet radio is its ability to be customized by the listener. Historically, the concept of internet radio has been around since the early 1990s. Slave owners Georgia are known to be cruel, brutal and they see their slaves as a property. More importantly, when Billy and the landlady first meet each other, the landlady portrays herself as a good person. She was forty five or fifty years old, and the moment she saw him, she gave him a warm, welcoming smile (Dahl 24). This presents that the landlady is purposely misleading Billy to think that she is a good person when she is really not. This relates to the theme because the landlady is tricking Billy to thinking she is a good person so that he would stay. In the short story, there is a lot of figurative language. In fact, the author Roald Dahl uses foreshadowing to create suspense. For example, the tea tasted faintly of bitter almonds (Dahl 34). This quote shows foreshadowing because it gives the reader an idea of what the tea might contain in it, which was poison. In addition, the author uses imagery to give the reader an idea of how the character looks like. After all this we come to the question about why do we need compression? What is the need? And in what way will it benefit us? Data compression is needed because it allows the data to be stored without taking up an unnecessary amount of space. Data compression uses some algorithms to reduce the amount of actual space that the data would take up. The way the algorithm is compressed will determine how much data is compressed.. The compressed data will be large if the amount of data is of extremely large size. Whereas compressed data will take up very small space if the size of the data to be compressed is very small. [4] Determining the amount of space that the data will take up is dependent on the algorithm that is used to compress the data. If the algorithm is used properly and formatted specifically for the data, the data can take up nearly no space. If a generalized algorithm is used, the data may not fit into a compressed area. The algorithm is the determining factor on how well the data will compress, how much space it will take up and how much of the data will be available after compression.[4] Various Compression Techniques The most basic compression techniques are ... Lying is a part of human nature, no matter if it is a big or small lie, everyone has lied before ( Lying: Bad Habit Or Human Nature? ). Everyone has different reasons for deceiving others, but that does not change the fact that everyone has lied at some point. Human nature keeps the world from achieving complete perfection, and Shakespeare allows this idea to be the foundation that his plays build off of. The human nature of deception is found as a common theme in Shakespeare s Hamlet and Much Ado About Nothing. Shakespeare uses these plays to communicate to his audiences that sometimes in order to find the truth you have to use trickery and manipulation; thus creating the idea that deception can be evil or harmless depending on the circumstances and the intentions of those who are trying to decieve. Hamlet elucidates the dangers that deception can provoke in relationships and shows the consequences of lying. Shakespeare shows his tangled opinions about deception throughout Much Ado About Nothing by using manipulation to help benefit others and destroy relationships; this allows Shakespeare to further show his idea that deception can be used for good and evil. Philosophy And Bertrand Russell s The Nature Of Philosophy In The Nature of Philosophy by Bertrand Russell, it is said that if the study of philosophy has any value at all for others than students of philosophy, it must be only indirectly, through its effects upon the lives of those who study it . As such, the real value of philosophy comes from its study, and this study should be compulsory in schools. This is due to its teaching of logic, rationality, and critical thinking. This is also due to the course s teaching of the value of ethics. Finally, philosophy should be made a compulsory subject as it has benefits that will positively affect a student s performance outside of high school, in post secondary education and beyond. The importance of logic and rationality in life should not be understated, and as philosophy teaches logic to its students, it should thusly be made mandatory. A rather common sentiment is that too many people are taken advantage of because of their lack of critical thinking, logic and deductive reasoning . With a prevalence of advertisements and large figures in the media trying to persuade others to believe them, a mandatory philosophy class would teach students how to effectively apply logic so that they will no longer be taken advantage of when facing premises in the media and in the world around them that have less to do with a sound argument and more to do with rhetorical devices.
