High School Start Times
Beep Beep Beep Beep. It is 5:30 A.M, you were up late last night working on an atrocious math
assignment; and all you want is to roll over and ignore that you have to go catch the bus at 7:15 A.M.
Sometimes, you re lucky enough to get a ride or drive to school and get an extra five or ten minutes of
sleep, while still making it to first hour in time for the pledge of allegiance. Then, by the time second
hour rolls around it is only 8:30 A.M. This example shows school start times are affecting the
teenagers and preteenagers of our generation. These early school start times are beginning to create a
decrease in students grades, concentration levels, tardiness, absences, and the amount of sleep the
students are getting each night. For the first time, the federal Center for Disease Control and
Prevention is urging education policy makers to start middle and high schools later in the morning.
The idea is to improve the students sleep and concentration levels during school. As you can see, high
schools and middle schools should start later in the morning. Unfortunately, many students face the
struggle of staying awake in classes and being able to concentrate on what is being taught. The reason
for this is many teens are not getting enough sleep at night. The amount of sleep an average individual
should be getting each ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Many people will complain that the elementary students also need sleep but as stated in my previous
paragraphs these students are still very young and have not hit puberty. This shows their circadian
rhythm has still not been affected which helps support the fact that they can go to bed whenever they
want to and not have to suffer from sleep

Discrepancy Between Anaerobic And Aquatic Analysis
There is a discrepancy regarding anaerobic and aerobic capacity between different species of marine
organisms. Anaerobic metabolism does not need oxygen to transform glucose to pyruvate (Somero,
1980). Type II fibers are found in anaerobic glycolysis. These fibers consist of white muscle that can
be used quickly but are also scarce when it comes to prolonged use. White muscle fibers are primarily
used in organisms that have short bursts of strong energy (Dickson, 1993). To focus on the white
muscle fibers, any red muscle fibers were not allowed in the samples (Somero, 1980). To keep
consistency, my group tried to take muscle samples from the same spot on each species because of
possible contamination if the muscle was extracted from other areas. ... Show more content on

They prefer to be in sandy areas in shallow or deep water (Chesapeake Bay). Croakers are bottom
feeders which means that they eat food on the ocean floor. This is because they are found in deep
water. A bottom feeder diet includes other small fish and crustaceans (Chesapeake Bay). Shrimp can
tolerate any level of salinity and prefer to live in the bottom of shallow waters (Arnott, Neil, Ansell
1998). They typically feed on small fish and algae. They are also well known for their unique escape
mechanism of flipping off the sea floor and diving into the sediment to get away from predators
(Arnott, Neil, Ansell 1998). This short duration of spontaneous movement requires lots of white
muscle fibers. The objectives of this experiment were to gain the knowledge of how to perform an
enzyme assay, compare the LDH activity in three species, and to associate the LDH activity values
with the capacity for anaerobic metabolism. My group originally thought that all three of these
organisms would have higher LDH levels due to their daily activities. However due to more in depth
background information about their behaviors, my group hypothesized that croakers would have the
highest LDH activity levels due to their continuous migration between multiple habitats. This constant
movement requires a lot of energy. Our results showed that lizardfish had the highest LDH activity
values as opposed to our

Thesis on the First World War
i. Introduction A. Attention step: the change in the context and trend of war in terms of ferocity of the
weapons and the increase in human/nations participation was occasioned by the industrial revolution
and the French revolution. B. Thesis: The First World War stimulated the greatest changes in warfare
because it brought about new technology and industry development, advancement in science, and
improved infrastructure and communication; essentially the First World War combined the legacies of
the French and Industrial Revolutions and set the pattern for twentieth century warfare. ii. The
industrialization in Europe and the new technology escalated the power of the WWI as compared to
the other wars fought across the world there before. A. The industries led to increased production of
the weapons needed in the war. B. The availability of raw materials for the industries meant mass
production of the weapons sufficient to replace the damaged and the lost as well as the vast army. iii.
The advancement in science saw the war become sophisticated as each side tried to outwit the other in
tact and equipment. A. Chemistry was largely employed to come up with explosives and ammunitions
that had superior destructive power. B. New discoveries for instance of the rockets added to the power
of the WWI. iv. The improved infrastructure and communication system boosted the participation of
bigger number of troops from the French Revolution. A. The industrial revolution saw

Questions On Http And Ftp
Q).HTTP and FTP?
HTTP :
HTTP is short for Hypertext Transfer Protocol, and includes the basic rules for displaying a web page
on the screen of a computer, smart phone, tablet, or any mobile device.
FTP :
FTP is short for File Transport Protocol a program that allows users and computers to send and receive
large portions of data through a private or public network. It can also be used to send configuration
files to network devices, such as switches and routers.
File Transport Protocol, or FTP, is an open protocol standard that is widely used to transport and
receive large files. FTP can be used to send and receive large files. FTP can also be used to send
configuration files and software updates for network switches and routers. It uses ports for
communications and also uses encryption to protect the information being received and sent.
Differences between HTTP and FTP :
The difference between the two is that
HTTP is a protocol used by the World Wide Web that allows the transfer of files from a web server to
a user s web browser for viewing web pages on the Internet, while the FTP protocol is used to transfer
files from a computer to and from an FTP server. FTP facilitates the transfer of files from one
computer to another.
HTTP transfers only web page content to the browser so as to view it. The transferred file is not saved
in the memory space. FTP, on the other hand, transfers the whole file to the another computer, and the
file is saved in memory.

Spring Day Poem Analysis
Spring day by Elise is an English cover of the original version by BTS. It is written in first person but
can be applied to the audience s personal experiences. The song explores the ideas of love and death
as it illustrates the grief of losing a friend or loved one.
Throughout the song, winter is shown as a continuous metaphor used to symbolise misery. It s the
salient metaphor of the song as it is repeated and constantly referenced. The composer chose to
display winter in a more cold, lonesome and depressive manner. The surrounding cold of winter that
seems to never disperse illustrates the lack of warmth and happiness in his life. This is further
reinforced with the lack of sunlight in the winter.
The line There s no darkness or season that s in store where there will never be an end directly
compares winter to the persona s depression. It explains to the audience that grief, or winter, is not
everlasting, that spring is approaching and the long winter will finally come to an end. It is the start of
when the persona begins to accept the death of his loved one, whereas previously it was expressed to
be a never ending situation of grief, specifically in the line where I am it s always winter .
Moreover, spring too, is a metaphor, for hope and acceptance and death, that works alongside the
metaphor of winter. Spring is seen as the season of warmth, birth and restoration. The lines Until
spring decides to come again
Until flowers, they bloom again
Please stay where you are and wait for me
Please wait for me explains why it is such an important aspect of this song. Spring is the time in which
the persona may finally reunite with their lost loved one, once reunited, he will no longer be in misery,
however, the lines suggests that they may only reunite after death. Thus spring symbolises both
happiness and death and acceptance.
The image used on slide 8, shows a person walking sadly down a street. On his side of the street it is
winter, on the other side its summer. It the lyric in August it s like December in its metaphorical aspect
to visually demonstrate the intended meaning behind the lyric. Colour symbolises the emotions of the
characters in the image. The persona s side is colourless, to

Case Study Warehouse Company Meeker
Since Randy is a fresher, he may be nervous about suggesting the above course of action to Cheryl.
However, he may like to keep the hospitals informed about his proposed course of action. Especially
the large ones who have a good standing and reputation may agree to this policy of extension of
expiration date by a warehouse or a distributor. Randy can bring across this to his boss Cheryl and
follow the instructions. If Cheryl is convinced that the cost benefit analysis of the extension of the
expiry period is favorable, then the warehouse company Meeker should insist that labels with
extended validity periods should replace the older labels for new deliveries henceforth. For the current
batch with hospitals and clinics, the warehouse company should not alter the labels. They should
replace the old expired medical supplies with fresh supplies. If Randy feels that the present system is
unlikely to change and in future he should go through the similar process of changing labels in the
organization, then he should look for a new job. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

after the expiry date stipulated by the manufacturer. Some of the antibiotics treatment protocol

The Coronation Of Haile Selassie I As Emperor Of Ethiopia
The Rastafarian tradition was born in the early 1930s with the coronation of Haile Selassie I as
emperor of Ethiopia. Although, not initially a religious movement, its religious future was prophesied
by a western black political activist named Marcus Garvey when, in a newspaper article and after
frequent correspondence with Selassie, he stated, The Psalmist prophesied that Princes would come
out of Egypt and Ethiopia would stretch forth her hands unto God. We have no doubt that the time is
now come. Ethiopia is now stretching forth her hands. It is a religious tradition that is Afrocentric in
its upbringing and focuses on defending and protecting the dignity of Africans and those of African
ancestry. The religion itself holds many ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Rastafarian tradition is one that is founded and built upon the respect of all peoples. It is a new
religion that has seen rapid change since its conception and continues to see change even today. This
paper will explain how gender is understood in the Rastafarian tradition both at its inception and
today. Despite the fact that Rastafarian ideology states that respect of all people is necessary in the
ethic code, women are often left out of the traditions and practices. As said by Tracey Nicholson of
women in Rasta culture, If serious business is at hand, it is likely that women will not be . It is hard to
believe that the religion could lean one way or another based on gender because it started as a
conscious social movement that dealt solely with the horrors of the oppression and exploitation of an
entire race. Women, during the inception of the religion, were seen as inferior, they were kept in a
place of subordination and a realm of domestication for a long time. Despite this fact, the role of
women in the tradition is a bit indecisive in and of itself. Chevannes, in his book Rastafari: Roots and
Ideology, states, On the one hand, women are respected, perhaps even feared, for their powers of
fertility and command greater allegiance and love from males and females alike than do their male
counterparts. This idea that women are somehow higher beings because of their child bearing abilities
is prevalent throughout Rastafarian ideology. They are bestowed with titles

What Caused The 981 Airplane Crash
March 3, 1974 a catastrophe occurred outside of Paris. Turkish Airlines flight 981 out of Paris
experienced a chain reaction of unfortunate events, that lead to the eventual crash of the plane, and the
complete fatality of every passenger on board the plane. The DC 10 aircraft, designed by the plane
company McDonnell Douglas, crashed in a forest 10 minutes after taking off from Paris. People who
have analyzed this accident, have looked into what caused this plane to crash and take the life of all
346 passengers on board? Among the analysts are three different types of accident theories that try to
explain why the plane crashed and how the crash could have been avoided and spared the life of
hundreds. The High Reliability Organization (HRO), Natural Accident Theory (NAT), and Social
Technical, are the three theories that are used to explain what causes accidents happen and how ...

10 minutes after take off the cargo door on the underside of the plane opened and got ripped off. The
cause for this was the locking pins that were supposed to lock in the latch on the plane locked, but the
latch had not latched onto the bar so the plane s cargo door was not locked and due to the g force on
the plane during takeoff and ascent into the sky the door was compromised. This event caused a chain
reaction of events to occur. After this happened the pressure from the outside acclimated with the
cargo bay which caused there to be too much of a pressure differential between the cargo bay and the
cabin. This caused the floor of the cabin to collapse, which then broke all three of the control cables.
With all the cables torn and broken the pilot lost control of the plane. The plane then crashed and
caused everyone on board to die. The overall crash of the DC 10 could have been avoided had specific
points of failure throughout the plane been fixed by an

The Internet Without Net Neutrality And The Internet
Net neutrality is the principle that all internet traffic should be treated equally by the internet service
providers. This policy is beneficial because all users of the internet will receive equal internet speeds
and fair treatment. Taking away this equal treatment would defeat the purpose of an evolving system.
This principle was created by Tim Wu in 2003 as an extension of of the common carrier concept
which described the role of telephones in society. Net Neutrality towards applications and data has
been one of the main reason for the Internet s success. It has granted the Internet s amazingly
innovative and democratic nature. With net neutrality it is the internet s guiding principle, it is our safe
guard and it preserves our right to communicate freely online. The internet without Net Neutrality
changes the image of what the internet is today. Without net neutrality, phone and cable companies
make the calls and decide which websites, content or applications succeed. Overall the government
and all service providers should treat all data the same. With net neutrality it is meant to show that
internet providers like AT T, Comcast, and Verizon, which also have their own television and
streaming video services, can t create slow lanes for competing services. They can not mess up others
in favor of their own (Klint Finley 2017) Without net neutrality, the days when broadband companies
and cell carriers could let traffic flow faster to one brand of phone or computer over

Latino Urbanism

Street vendors fill the air with the smell of bacon wrapped hot dogs, their whistles and antojitos

Informal economies such as street vendors in East Los Angeles are a part of the landscape. They

often confiscate the property and goods of the vendors leaving them destitute.
We know that the city has been designed mainly for the car and this auto centricity has created
serious health issues including air pollution and discouraging people from walking.
One urban planner has looked at how this informal economy actually helps to promote the walk
ability and pedestrian friendly streets in Los Angeles. James Rojas makes the case that any
restrictions will actually be creating a worse situation in an already car congested city.
Allowing street vendors the opportunity to profit from the use of public rights of way could be
a new way to make L.A. s increasingly unsustainable, auto oriented infrastructure more
compatible for pedestrian uses.
This is a non traditional way of creating space and more ,place making, if you will which Rojas
has coined, Latino Urbanism, the creative culture and adaptation that exists as an informal
urban design element. Latinos are not remaking these places in the sense of construction; they

Dangers Of Texting While Driving
Did you know every day your life is put at risk because of other s bad driving habits? Well, when I
first got my driver s license I believed I was prepared to drive, but I was wrong. I still needed to learn
about all the hazards around myself. Habits are tough to break when becoming attached, even though
various habits are illegal. However, speeding, texting while driving, and driving under the influence of
alcohol are a few of the many extremely common habits drivers use daily. Speeding is a common
habit that happens around the world every day. The dangers of speeding are certainly well known to
most drivers, either by getting a ticket for speeding from law enforcement, being part of an accident
due to reckless driving or even having a loved one be a victim of excessive speeding (Upton).
Speeding because one is in a rush, trying to show off to friends, or just do not think the law applies to
you, are never the answers for speeding. Accidents can easily result in hitting somebody or losing
control of your vehicle from speeding. Speed limits are made to keep the community safe, making the
speed limit lower in populated towns, while a little higher on back roads, and highways. School zone s
have a vastly low speed limit to insure everyone is being extra cautious for children are everyone
around. Even with getting away with speeding, it is still breaking the law while putting others in great
danger. Texting while driving is also an extremely dangerous habit. Cell phones

Texas Conservative Definition
Conservative is defined in the Miriam Webster s dictionary as believing in the value of established and
traditional practices in politics and society. With this definition in mind the Texas Legislature, which
represents Texas as a whole, is conservative.
Texas has historically been a Conservative State, from its admittance into the Union as a Slave State
until now. To analyze and support the claim that Texas is a conservative state, we can look to its social
stances on Gay Marriage and Abortion, the religious culture, the historical conservative policies, and
the Texas economic policies towards taxes.
Texas epitomizes the definition of a southern state and is placed in the Bible Belt of the United States
because of Texas strong religious background which is the basis for many of the policies enforced in
Texas. As the Texas State Historical Association points out The Catholic Church has been a part of
Texas history ever since Europeans first set foot on the land in 1528. Furthermore, not only do
Catholics make up a large percentage of Texas, as do Protestants. The strong adherence to Christian
morals and beliefs is a predominant factor in why Texas is conservative. ... Show more content on

This stems from the Christian belief that Marriage is between Man and Woman. Texas, as a
predominantly Christian state, holds on to this belief. This is also the case in regards to abortion.

life. It took a Supreme Court case to overturn this law because the lower district Texas Courts, were

Cycle Of Recidivism Essay
A long term study conducted by Bureau of Justice Statistics found that the average five year
recidivism rates of 404,638 prisoners released in 2005 is 76.6% among thirty states in America
(Matthew, Alexia, Howard, 2014, p. 1). In other words, most of the released prisoners did not escape
the cycle of recidivism and were sent back to the prison after time. This indicates that the present
American justice system, which focuses on punishment as Benson (2003) noted, fails to rehabilitate
prisoners efficiently and is far from achieving the goal of reducing crime rates (p. 46). What is more,
the recidivism of prisoners is becoming a great plague of society, because it not only imposes a threat
to public safety but also places an enormous ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Although details of Sycamore Tree projects running in different countries, such as length of the
project, are slightly different, they all aim at helping offenders realize the impact of crime and making
them become more responsible (Marshall, 2005, p. 2; Feasey Williams, 2009, p. 3; Bakker, n.d., p. 3).
It is a creative project. In daily life, victims and offenders seldom meet each other after the court.
However, this project provides a platform for victims and offenders to communicate, to find out the
distress others have experienced and to learn how to lead a better life together. Thus, it may be a
promising way to reduce re offending rates.
This project was evaluated to be effective in raising the average level of victim empathy and lowering
the average level of anticipation of re offending. However, it is not working for all offenders, and it
may increase the level of shame, which can lead to re offending. Evaluations of Sycamore Tree
projects running in the United Kingdom and New Zealand revealed that offenders had lower
anticipation of re offending and higher victim awareness after Sycamore Tree projects (Feasey
Williams, 2009, p. 17; Bakker, n.d., pp. 7 8). Although no research has been done to show the direct
impact of Sycamore Tree project on re offending rates, Pithers (1999) found that a high level of victim

Conflicts Within A Group And How A Manager Can Bring Up...
Conflicts can happen in everyday life with people and in organizations. Conflicts need to be handled
so that the situation does not escalate further. Most people look at conflicts as a bad situation, but not
all conflicts are bad, some are good, especially when discussing an idea within a group. In an
organization there are times when a conflict may need to happen for an issue to be resolved, but when
this happens the people involved need to look at if this conflict is really necessary to resolve the issue.
How to address conflicts in a group and how a manager can bring up the conflict without making them
worse is what will be discussed next. At many jobs there are projects given that have to be completed
in groups and they re more than likely is going to be people within the group that do not necessarily
agree on how the project should be completed. This can cause a conflict to arise and to resolve this
conflict requires all members of the group to have a say in the resolution. To ensure sufficient
discussion of contentious issues in a work group, I would have one person be in charge of the group.
This person would make sure that everyone had a turn to give their input and I would make it known
to all the group members that what is said cannot be held against the person who says it. When
managers need to bring up unspoken conflicts into the open without making them worse, it may be
best to have a third party present that can ensure that the issue is addressed

The Convention On International Trade Of Endangered...
Introduction to the international agreement.
The Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES) was
put in place on July 1, 1975 to address the need to protect species on a global level by controlling
international trade.
The aim of CITES is to protect species that are considered endangered (Couzens, 2013). CITES uses
three Appendices to evaluate which level the endangered species should be put in. Appendix I includes
species that are threatened by extinction due to trading (Couzens, 2013). It bans any trading of these
species related to commercial purposes and any trading that could be harmful to their survival
(Wiersema, 2013; CITES). Furthermore, any export, re export and import permit must be needed for
any accepted import, export or re exported purposes (CITES). Appendix II includes species that may
not be perceived near extinction, but regulations regarding trade are put in place to control and
regulate it to prevent any endangerment (Wiersema, 2013; Couzens, 2013; CITES). Additionally, any
live animal or plant must be cared for with minimal risk to injury, health and treatment during the
trading process (CITES). Any export, re export and import permit must be needed for trading purposes
(CITES). Lastly, Appendix III according to CITES is controlling trading of species to prevent and/or
diminish any likelihood of exploitation (Couzens, 2013; CITES). Any export, re export and import
permits are needed relating to trading

Officer Smith s Dilemma
Unhappy employees can be toxic to any organization. The lack of interest, blatant disregard for
company policies and procedures, tardiness and a host of other negative behavior can quickly spread
to other employees, especially new recruits. The key is to diagnosis the situation and deal with it
sooner than later. Providing immediate attention to an escalating issue displays not only efficient
leadership but also builds trust with other currently loyal workers.
Upon reviewing Officer Smith s lower than average field statistics, I decided to reach out to her
previous supervisor to inquire about her performance. The phone call with Officer Smith s Sargent in
Alpha District proved to be fruitless. The supervisor attested Officer Smith had several curbside
counseling sessions and other feedback to improve her work. Unfortunately, none of the sessions were
documented and therefore is merely hearsay. As her current supervisor, I have to assume no steps were
taken to provide Officer Smith with the resources and training she so desperately needs.
With the stress and pressure Officer Smith must have endured, I believe she is disgruntled. She is
intelligent and most likely understands what is expected of her. However, without the required tools,

the war enthusiastically in the hope of honoring and glorifying their names. However, Aeneas
demonstrates heightened responsibility toward the people he leads. At no point does he show
selfishness in the wish for his name to be glorified and honored at death. In essence, Aeneas is
committed to the destiny of his people. This uniqueness makes Aeneas an epic hero unlike previous
heroes such as Odysseus. Aeneas is duty bound and he follows nothing but fate. Consequently, he is
prepared to suffer any loss or harm as long as he reaches where fate directs him to go. Aeneas is an
epic hero because he is a dutiful servant to fate, he performs his duties patriotically, his instills
confidence in his people, and he is highly responsible for his family and his people.
Aeneas is focused on his goal throughout because he knows he is fate s dutiful servant. This aspect
readily comes out in his description as a man apart, devoted to his mission, a dedicated man. In
addition, Aeneas tells his loved one Dido that his duties are supreme to any other affair he might be
having. Aside from commitment to duty, Aeneas faces stiff opposition and enmity but he does not lose
faith on his fate (Griffith 309). His faith gains momentum when he sees the beautiful temple Dido
constructs for Juno.

Theater Arts Performance Review Essay
As many would say, beauty is in the eye of the beholder. In life, sometimes people are going to have
different opinions and ways of looking at the world. They have their own notions of what speaks to
them, what they admire or believe is magnificent, especially in the work of arts. Enrolled in
Introduction to Theatre Arts, I was given the opportunity to attend many New York s finest plays. In
addition to getting artistic exposure, I am encouraged to give my own thoughts and criticisms of the
performances in order to become into a more informed and analytical audience member. Out of all the
wonderful productions I had a pleasure of attending these last few months, The Castle and Sweat were
both the most impactful performances as many, including myself, were touched by each of the play s
message.
The Castle, devised and directed by David Rothenberg, was the first performance of the semester. It
also was the first production that left a remarkable imprint on me and the rest of the audience
members as it focuses on the lives of former convicts. There were four performers Vilma Ortiz
Donovan, Ervin Hunt, Rory Anderson, and Victor Rojas. They each magnificently told their story of

In addition, Eric Krebs wanted to show that the art can leave a memorable impression on a person in

and broke the mirror, I was impacted by the meaning behind the action. I was speechless for it was a
bold and fantastic choice to make for a performance. I obtained the same feeling as I watched through

The Fundamental Concepts Behind Signal Processing
A signal is a time dependent, numerical representation of events in the physical world. In typical
applications, the signal is in the form of a current or a voltage. For the signal to be useful, it must be
modeled. Signal processing takes time dependent data, and manipulates it to create a mathematical
model useful to practical problem solvers. Many techniques for signal processing exist, including
Fourier Transforms, moving averages, filtering, and spectral analysis. Spectral analysis uses sampled
data to reconstruct a given signal. Though conceptually simple, sampling is typically impractical for
most applications due to the large quantity of data involved in the calculations. However, the
fundamental concepts behind signal processing ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Fourier Series require an infinite number of frequencies, but the sampling frequency is subdivided into
a finite number of frequency ranges to reduce calculations. One cosine and one sine function is needed
to represent the signal for each subdivision of the sampling frequency. If the sampled data is
represented by a vector, it can be written as a linear combination of two vectors, each composed of the
appropriate sinusoidal entries. Let b m contain the cosine entries at frequency subdivision m, and c
contain the sine entries at m subdivision m. Then, B=[b  b] , C=[c  c] , D=[B C] , and the
columns 0m0m of D form a basis for the vector space V. It can be shown that the columns of D are, in
fact, an orthogonal basis because the dot product of any two vectors in D is zero.
The signal s∈V , and s=BuCv . This can be rewritten as s=Dw where w=[u] . Given
that the columns of D form an orthogonal basis, the weights can be

Poverty In A Tale Of Two Cities
The rich s desire to have it all and the poor s ability to barely make ends meet are both depicted in the
novel, A Tale of Two Cities, written by Charles Dickens. People during the French revolution showed
desperation in more intense and harsh ways than people today, however the reality is poverty has
stricken families for generations. While there is poverty all over the world there is also greed. CEOs,
presidents, kings and queens all live beyond their needs. The French revolution started because the
people living in poverty were tired of being treated as inferior to the rich. The poor rose up in an
attempt to overthrow the corrupt leaders. Today in America, economic recessions scare the poor and

Unemployment is one of the major causes for economic troubles for the poor. In Elizabeth Warren s
America Without a Middle Class, it is said that today one in five American s is unemployed. Today,
America is risking the formation of a new underclass. An article Soaring Poverty Casts Spotlight on
Lost Decade by Sabrina Tavernise adds to this increasing unemployment rate by saying that young,
less educated, mainly men, can t support their children and form stable families because they are
jobless. Not having a job is one of the main causes as to why the under class is drowning in debt and
why they have no money. Lack of jobs was also a major problem for many poor people in the French
Revolution Era. Family owned businesses and stands were not producing enough money to keep the
people off the streets. Another main factor causing the poor to stay poor is the lack of security.
Elizabeth Warren in her article America Without a Middle Class says that going to college and finding
a good job no longer guarantees economic safety. Sabrina Tavernise s Soaring Poverty Casts Spotlight
on Lost Decade also highlights the fact that the median full time worker has made no progress on
average wage. This is particularly shocking because students think going to college will help them
become apart of the elite upper class, however, this is no longer necessarily

Examples Of Character Changes In Remember The Titans
Describe how a character changes in the film Remember the Titans Explain why this change occurs.
In the film Remember the titans which was directed by Boaz Yakin. I thought that Julius had changed
the most during the film and these changes occurred in these three points. One point is how Julius was
a very strong an opinionated person. The second point is Julius and Gerry finally confronted each
other about getting along and the last point is how coach Boone pushed Julius and Gerry to share the
captaincy roles to work hard together for the team to follow in example.
Julius was a very opinionated person, who was all about himself and not looking after his own team or
anyone else for that matter. For example when Julius was confronted by Gerry, during this
conversation Julius said I m supposed to wear out myself for this team? What team? Nope that s not
what I m going to do is I m going to look after myself. When this confrontation was happening there
were many close up camera shots, this was because the director wanted to show the emotion and anger
in the faces of Gerry and Julius. This shows that Julius is a very opinionated person and he only cares
about himself, this is shown in what he told Julius.

Satire In Satire
Satire: The Art of Exposing Foolishness Position is the incentive for society to innovate and perform.
Those in high positions may think themselves above society and they are fools for that thinking. As
William Shakespeare wrote in his play As You Like It a, fool doth think he is wise, but as wise man
knows he is a fool (). One of the greatest pitfalls of society is the ignorance of its own foolishness, it is
up to the wise to recognize this and expose it for the benefit of the public. The wise use a literary
technique known as satire, to perform this service for society. Within satire there are the why s the
purpose, and the how s the method, both of which contribute to the question: what is satire? Well,
what is satire? A basic definition would be the mode which combines humor, irony, and ridicule to
bring about a recognition or change in society (). The types of satire fall into two main categories:

that are improper to the setting (). Parody imitates the style of some person, place, or thing; however,
it is important for the reader to know the original to know what the author is satirizing (). The last,
reversal, simply means to present things out of order. An example that the IRA gives is, when a young

Plato s Republic, And His Sun Analogy
In this essay I will attempt to illustrate the role of the Form of the Good in regards to other Forms and
knowledge as the highest form, and a unifying force. Particular emphasis will be placed on Socrates
discussion of it in The Republic, and his sun analogy. I will argue that its epistemological role is
perhaps most convincing, as the other two fall to a number of criticisms. Other criticisms will be
offered, including how vague the theory is, and those offered by Aristotle in particular. The Form of
the Good is notoriously ambiguous, in that it is difficult to pin down precisely what it is. In Plato s
Republic, through the character of Socrates, we see an attempt to describe what the Form of the Good
is, or, at the very least, some general idea of its nature. After stating that philosophers make the best
rulers to his interlocutor, Glaucon, he establishes the way to distinguish philosophers from non
philosophers. Philosophers can pick out non sensible properties of a Form (eg beauty), as opposed to
the non sensible particulars of a thing (such as a beautiful vase). However, Socrates makes it clear that
the most important thing for a philosopher king is the knowledge of the Form of the Good. While
there are many other Forms, the Good is ultimately superlative in that it is the highest or most
superior. Socrates states that it has three key roles. An:
Ontological role: all other things become useful and advantageous only by their use of the Form of the
Good

Competitive Advantage And Competitive Advantages
With the breakneck advancements in today s market, having sustainable competitive advantage has
become imperative so as to survive. The metamorphosis of technology has made the job further
challenging to have a competitive advantage and sustain it. Competitive advantage is defined as an
idiosyncratic lead a firm has over its fellow challengers and emulators. This lead enables the firm to
vanquish its challenger. In other words it is something that distinguishes an organization from the
competitors. For a competitive advantage to be sustainable, the firm has create value creating products
or services that cannot be mirrored or matched by its fellow competitors and thereby it will able to
outlast for a longer period of time (Bharadwaj, S, Varadarajan, P, Fahy, J 1993) Sustainable
competitive advantage entirely depends on how an organization performs in a competitive
environment. In order to sustain and consolidate the company s position, innovation becomes crucial.
Companies should be in a position to embrace the changes in order to be abreast of the competition
and hold its position (Daniela, P ,2014). Apart from innovation, the internal and the external forces
along with the knowledge management form the vital factors. For an organization to gain the
competitive advantage and sustain it, it has to innovate and globalize the vital factors mentioned.

Let us discuss these factors with theories

Otitis Media Essay
Otitis media, otherwise known as an ear infection, is a very common occurrence in children seven
months up to fifteen years of age. Specifically, this type of ear infection is categorized as an
inflammation of the middle ear, and subcategorized into either acute otitis or chronic otitis media. It
begins with a bacterial or viral infection from the throat that spreads into the ear, causing a fluid
backup in the middle part of the ear. It is estimated that, by the time they reach two years of age, all
the children in the United States currently under that age will have had a total of 9.3 million episodes
of acute otitis media, and that approximately 17 percent of children have three or more episodes
during a six month period (Berman 1995). ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Predisposing agents that can lead to higher risk are colds, upper respiratory infections, exposure to air
irritants (such as tobacco smoke), and children who have down syndrome or cleft palate. Bacterial
pathogens that are common be the eight five percent of the causation to otitis media can range from
streptococcus pneumoniae (pneumococcus), nontypable hemophilus influenzae, pseudomonas, and
moraxella. However, it is much easier to contract an ear infection than spread it, and although it is the
child is suffering from the pathology the most, it also causes parents to have greater anxiety and stress
as well as disrupt average work and school cycles in daily living.
Symptoms and signs of otitis media can range from a combination of earaches, fever, and fussiness in
small children. Fluid buildup known as middle ear effusion due to otitis media can cause temporary
hearing loss, and the fluid buildup in the ear can leak into the ear canal. Acute infections of otitis
media differ from chronic because they typically are short lasting with a rapid onset. Symptoms
exhibited can range from vomiting, fever, pain, loss of hearing, inflammation of the tympanic
membrane, and often are a result from viral upper respiratory infections. Although over diagnosed,
there are certain methods to distinguish Acute Otitis Media (AOM); the

Roy Lichtenstein Drowning Girl Essay
Critical Analysis Drowning Girl By Roy Lichtenstein (1963)
A Critical Art Analysis of Roy Lichtenstein s Drowning Girl (1963) Painting
Roy Lichtenstein s Drowning Girl is one of the most renowned pieces of art produced by the
American artist. The painting that was created by the artist in the year 1963 on a 67 5/8 x 66 3/4
canvas is contained in the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) in New York City, and is one of the most
viewed modernistic pieces of art in the museum (MoMA). The Drowning Girl painting depicts a

The message of heartbreak in the art is reflected in words contained in the thought bubble and the
tears which reveal that the girl in the picture might have been in a romantic relationship with a man
named Brad, who broke her heart. Even more clearly, the title Drowning girl, adds to the meaning of
the piece of art by suggesting to the viewer that the girl may be drowning in ocean waves. The
maneuver of a girl in distress in the painting further points to the deep interest of Roy Lichtenstein in
the pain that women go through after heartbreaks. Notably, evidence suggests that as a follower of
Picasso, Lichtenstein might have been inspired by the former s frequent use of images of crying
women to paint the Drowning Girl (Schneider 142). Overall, the use of ocean waves by the author
symbolizes distress, as well the vast amount of tears that the heartbreak might have induced which
arouse empathy in the viewer. Although the girl seems to lie in peace with her head on the water like a
pillow, the submergence of the rest of her body in water appears to communicate her dire need for
assistance. Thus, I would say that the piece of art reminds me of the importance of being considerate
of the feelings of fellow humans, especially for people in romantic

Confucianism In China
Confucianism is a belief system of thoughts taught by Confucius in China during the 5th and 6th
century BCE during the Zhou dynasty. During this time, China was dealing with serious political
conflicts, moral chaos, and intellectual conflict and order were almost non existent. During this
political struggle, Confucius believed that going back to the traditional ways was the only path for
society to get back on track and developed his thought into what is known as Confucianism. It has
existed for over two millennia and has changed over time. Some people refer to Confucianism as
philosophy while others view it as a religion. Confucianism is a belief system which can be
incorporated into other religious beliefs and forms of religion. This belief system has heavily
influenced politics and life in China and neighboring places.
Personal conflict is addressed within the home since the family is the foundation for order and peace
within the world. Confucian s believe that family relationships are crucial in order to have a peaceful

harmony was laid on children. When there was conflict or tension between siblings, it was dealt with
by the younger child showing respect, service, or payment provided to the elder. When conflicts arose

(Encyclopedia Britannica) Using Mr. Burfoot s logic Mike Powell did not need to train he just had
better equipment, and by default if any other athlete in any sport gets any equipment that could
improve performance they will not need to train to compete at a higher level, its the equipment. The
amount of athletic skill and intense training it takes for someone with below the knee amputations, to
get to a level where you can walk is more than Mr. Burfoot could ever imagine. Learning to run is
another category altogether. He shows his lack of knowledge most with the low quality of the writing
and with a lackluster approach to a controversial subject. The writing and tone of this article give the
impression of an uninformed bigot tap dancing around a controversial subject trying not to get dirty.
He starts early in the article with, I know I d be smart to ignore the bait and leave this subject alone,
but; this line alone says, this is a controversial subject, but I am going give you what I think, no
apologies. Mr. Burfoot then goes to explain about how Mr. Pistorius was granted the right to compete,

Republic Of Iraq Essay
The Republic of Iraq is also known as The Cradle of civilization because of its vast and remarkable
history. The fertile strip of Iraq in precise, between Euphrates and Tigris; the two rivers, was known as
Mesopotamia. Mesopotamia is renowned for its inventions, such as cuneiform; one of the earliest
forms of writing. Iraq was the hub of the world and the people of Iraq were living in a golden age.
People from all over the world came to Baghdad in order to exchange knowledge. During WW1 the
Ottoman Empire became an ally with Germany and their defeat in 1918 led to the British taking
control over Iraq in 1920. Iraq is a multi religious country, consisting of 60% Shia Arab, 20% Sunni
Arab, 17% Sunni Kurd and 3% others. The problems in Iraq ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Iraq gained its independence on October 3rd, 1932. Iraq was an independent nation nonetheless the
British monarchy remained in the system and gave Britain power to rule over Iraq. Britain ruled over
Iraq for about half a century more than they were suppose to. After WW2 Britain took a heavy hit and
weren t able to assert their power in Iraq. Iraq then truly became an autonomous country. After the
British Monarchy was over thrown, amateur civilian parties and inadequately trained Iraqi militants
ruled Iraq until 1979, the year when Saddam Hussein came into power and became the Iraqi dictator.
In order to gain power, Saddam secretly had to strengthen his connections till a time came when he
confronted Ahmed Hassan al Bakr: president at that time. Saddam Hussein presented the president
with two options, first to resign so Saddam Hussein can come to power or second he dies and then
Saddam Hussein comes to power. In both scenarios Saddam Hussein gained position of the head of
state and Ahmed Hassan al Bakr gladly stepped down. No doubt, Saddam Hussein was a powerful
dictator with supreme authority. No one could question his

Gentrification Is The Country s Timeless Struggle
Inequality has been the country s timeless struggle. Throughout the course of the United States history,
there have been processes that have given a certain group of people the upper hand in a circumstance,
thus fueling inequality in our nation. An ongoing process that negatively effects the lower class and
benefits the upper class is called gentrification. Gentrification has been defined as the replacement of
the low income, inner city working class residents by middle or upper class households, either through
the market for existing housing or demolition to make way for new upscale housing construction
(Hammel and Wyly, 1996, p.250). Gentrification is deleterious because it revitalizes areas where low
income residents reside in, thus causing the displacement and allows affluent residents to flood the
given area whilst changing the entire environment from its original state. In my paper, I will be
discussing how the process of gentrification begins and what it entails, define longtime residents, and
describe the feelings of displacement felt by these residents. How the plague spreads Although a rapid
phenomenon, the process of gentrification initially starts at a slow pace. According to Biro (2007),
When low income houses are renovated they reach a higher quality and therefore are marketable to
buyers who can afford to pay a premium for homes with better quality characteristics. (p. 42) The
individuals who cannot cope with the gentrification process due to

The Necklace Lies
Both the truth and lies can be deceiving; the truth is much harder to start but it is much less painful in
the long run, whereas a lie is much easier to start but once you ve started it continues to grow, as
Mathilde found out in The Necklace by Guy de Maupassant. Mathilde is a middle class woman who
doesn t work, she has a cleaning lady yet she always complains about her worn , shabby and ugly
apartment. Mathilde dreams of money, beauty and luxurious furniture and accessories, all things she
claims she doesn t have, and doesn t appreciate the luxuries she does have. At this point of the story
Mathilde is selfish, unappreciative, snobby and pessimistic. Later in the story, when Mathilde and her
husband are residing in the attic flat, Mathilde

History Of The Writs Of Assistance Essay
When discussing the Writs of Assistance, we must first understand why they were created and why
James Otis believed they were infringing upon citizens basic rights. Writs of Assistance were first
authorized by English Parliament and King Charles II in 1660, which later was issued by Exchequer
of Pleas, a court in England that dealt with cases surrounding the principles of natural and common
law. Writs of Assistance were used in both English and colonial governments at the time, and were
created to grant law enforcement officials the right to search homes suspected of holding smuggled
goods without the need for a warrant. A Writ of Assistance was commonly called a writ of restitution
or a writ of possession depending on the need for the writ, whether it be a eviction or a search for
goods. During the time that Charles II served as king of england, the legality of Writ of Assistance was
questioned in 1761, during the attempted renewal of the law. Although the Revolutionary war did not
start until 1775, the Writ of Assistance law that allowed general warrants in the colonies played a
major role in the disagreements ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Although he allowed the search, they were not authorized to open a locked cellar in which they
forcefully entered. A protest formed outside his home due to the unlawful forced entry which
represented a clear example of the colonists beliefs of their rights contrary to the beliefs Great Britain
accumulates on imperial law. The colonists believed that british policies enforced in Writ of assistance
were violating basic principles that outlined constitutional government. The very definition of
constitutional government is a government with a constitution. To have an adequate constitutional
government the colonists believed in the distribution of power between the executive, judicial and
legislative branch and maintaining

Bribri And Kokogi Summary
The Bribri civilization of Costa Rica/Panama and the Kogi civilization of Colombia were believed to
be a secondary area to the Mesoamerican and South American civilizations. However, differences
began to surface that distinguished the Bribri and the Kogi from civilizations of Mesoamerica. They
formed part of the Isthmo Colombian Area, therefore similarities were expected to exist between the
Bribri and the Kogi. These similarities were understood through the rituals that the Bribri and Kogi
practiced. Nevertheless, there are a few links that tie the Bribri and the Kogi civilization back to the
Mesoamerican civilization. The Bribri and the Kogi share similar rituals despite belonging to different
descendent cultures. First, the Bribri and the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A sacred crop that created and nourished human life. Another similarity between the civilizations of
the Isthmo Colombian Area and the Mesoamerican civilization is the concept of primordial time. In
the case Bribri when the shaman was conducting the healing ceremony he had to wait until night in
order strengthen memories of generations of shaman masters. The day was dedicated to daily
activities. We see primordial time through the change of day and night. The night takes the shaman
back into the memories of previous generations. Similarly, we see this in the Maya a Mesoamerican
civilization. In the case of the Maya we see how time never occurs in a linear matter in the origin

  • 2. High School Start Times Beep Beep Beep Beep. It is 5:30 A.M, you were up late last night working on an atrocious math assignment; and all you want is to roll over and ignore that you have to go catch the bus at 7:15 A.M. Sometimes, you re lucky enough to get a ride or drive to school and get an extra five or ten minutes of sleep, while still making it to first hour in time for the pledge of allegiance. Then, by the time second hour rolls around it is only 8:30 A.M. This example shows school start times are affecting the teenagers and preteenagers of our generation. These early school start times are beginning to create a decrease in students grades, concentration levels, tardiness, absences, and the amount of sleep the students are getting each night. For the first time, the federal Center for Disease Control and Prevention is urging education policy makers to start middle and high schools later in the morning. The idea is to improve the students sleep and concentration levels during school. As you can see, high schools and middle schools should start later in the morning. Unfortunately, many students face the struggle of staying awake in classes and being able to concentrate on what is being taught. The reason for this is many teens are not getting enough sleep at night. The amount of sleep an average individual should be getting each ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 3. Discrepancy Between Anaerobic And Aquatic Analysis There is a discrepancy regarding anaerobic and aerobic capacity between different species of marine organisms. Anaerobic metabolism does not need oxygen to transform glucose to pyruvate (Somero, 1980). Type II fibers are found in anaerobic glycolysis. These fibers consist of white muscle that can be used quickly but are also scarce when it comes to prolonged use. White muscle fibers are primarily used in organisms that have short bursts of strong energy (Dickson, 1993). To focus on the white muscle fibers, any red muscle fibers were not allowed in the samples (Somero, 1980). To keep consistency, my group tried to take muscle samples from the same spot on each species because of possible contamination if the muscle was extracted from other areas. ... This is because they are found in deep water. A bottom feeder diet includes other small fish and crustaceans (Chesapeake Bay). Shrimp can tolerate any level of salinity and prefer to live in the bottom of shallow waters (Arnott, Neil, Ansell 1998). They typically feed on small fish and algae. They are also well known for their unique escape mechanism of flipping off the sea floor and diving into the sediment to get away from predators (Arnott, Neil, Ansell 1998). This short duration of spontaneous movement requires lots of white muscle fibers. The objectives of this experiment were to gain the knowledge of how to perform an enzyme assay, compare the LDH activity in three species, and to associate the LDH activity values with the capacity for anaerobic metabolism. My group originally thought that all three of these organisms would have higher LDH levels due to their daily activities. However due to more in depth background information about their behaviors, my group hypothesized that croakers would have the highest LDH activity levels due to their continuous migration between multiple habitats. This constant movement requires a lot of energy. Our results showed that lizardfish had the highest LDH activity values as opposed to our ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

FTP : FTP is short for File Transport Protocol a program that allows users and computers to send and receive large portions of data through a private or public network. It can also be used to send configuration files to network devices, such as switches and routers. File Transport Protocol, or FTP, is an open protocol standard that is widely used to transport and receive large files. FTP can be used to send and receive large files. FTP can also be used to send configuration files and software updates for network switches and routers. It uses ports for communications and also uses encryption to protect the information being received and sent. Differences between HTTP and FTP : The difference between the two is that HTTP is a protocol used by the World Wide Web that allows the transfer of files from a web server to a user s web browser for viewing web pages on the Internet, while the FTP protocol is used to transfer files from a computer to and from an FTP server. FTP facilitates the transfer of files from one computer to another. HTTP transfers only web page content to the browser so as to view it. The transferred file is not saved in the memory space. • 6. Spring Day Poem Analysis Spring day by Elise is an English cover of the original version by BTS. It is written in first person but can be applied to the audience s personal experiences. The song explores the ideas of love and death as it illustrates the grief of losing a friend or loved one. Throughout the song, winter is shown as a continuous metaphor used to symbolise misery. It s the salient metaphor of the song as it is repeated and constantly referenced. The composer chose to display winter in a more cold, lonesome and depressive manner. The surrounding cold of winter that seems to never disperse illustrates the lack of warmth and happiness in his life. This is further reinforced with the lack of sunlight in the winter. The line There s no darkness or season that s in store where there will never be an end directly compares winter to the persona s depression. It explains to the audience that grief, or winter, is not everlasting, that spring is approaching and the long winter will finally come to an end. It is the start of when the persona begins to accept the death of his loved one, whereas previously it was expressed to be a never ending situation of grief, specifically in the line where I am it s always winter . Moreover, spring too, is a metaphor, for hope and acceptance and death, that works alongside the metaphor of winter. Spring is seen as the season of warmth, birth and restoration. The lines Until spring decides to come again Until flowers, they bloom again Please stay where you are and wait for me Please wait for me explains why it is such an important aspect of this song. Spring is the time in which the persona may finally reunite with their lost loved one, once reunited, he will no longer be in misery, however, the lines suggests that they may only reunite after death. Thus spring symbolises both happiness and death and acceptance. The image used on slide 8, shows a person walking sadly down a street. On his side of the street it is winter, on the other side its summer. It the lyric in August it s like December in its metaphorical aspect to visually demonstrate the intended meaning behind the lyric. Colour symbolises the emotions of the characters in the image. However, he may like to keep the hospitals informed about his proposed course of action. Especially the large ones who have a good standing and reputation may agree to this policy of extension of expiration date by a warehouse or a distributor. Randy can bring across this to his boss Cheryl and follow the instructions. If Cheryl is convinced that the cost benefit analysis of the extension of the expiry period is favorable, then the warehouse company Meeker should insist that labels with extended validity periods should replace the older labels for new deliveries henceforth. For the current batch with hospitals and clinics, the warehouse company should not alter the labels. They should replace the old expired medical supplies with fresh supplies. It is a new religion that has seen rapid change since its conception and continues to see change even today. This paper will explain how gender is understood in the Rastafarian tradition both at its inception and today. Despite the fact that Rastafarian ideology states that respect of all people is necessary in the ethic code, women are often left out of the traditions and practices. As said by Tracey Nicholson of women in Rasta culture, If serious business is at hand, it is likely that women will not be . It is hard to believe that the religion could lean one way or another based on gender because it started as a conscious social movement that dealt solely with the horrors of the oppression and exploitation of an entire race. Women, during the inception of the religion, were seen as inferior, they were kept in a place of subordination and a realm of domestication for a long time. Despite this fact, the role of women in the tradition is a bit indecisive in and of itself. Chevannes, in his book Rastafari: Roots and Ideology, states, On the one hand, women are respected, perhaps even feared, for their powers of fertility and command greater allegiance and love from males and females alike than do their male counterparts. This idea that women are somehow higher beings because of their child bearing abilities is prevalent throughout Rastafarian ideology. They are bestowed with titles ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Turkish Airlines flight 981 out of Paris experienced a chain reaction of unfortunate events, that lead to the eventual crash of the plane, and the complete fatality of every passenger on board the plane. The DC 10 aircraft, designed by the plane company McDonnell Douglas, crashed in a forest 10 minutes after taking off from Paris. People who have analyzed this accident, have looked into what caused this plane to crash and take the life of all 346 passengers on board? Among the analysts are three different types of accident theories that try to explain why the plane crashed and how the crash could have been avoided and spared the life of hundreds. • 10. The Internet Without Net Neutrality And The Internet Net neutrality is the principle that all internet traffic should be treated equally by the internet service providers. This policy is beneficial because all users of the internet will receive equal internet speeds and fair treatment. Taking away this equal treatment would defeat the purpose of an evolving system. This principle was created by Tim Wu in 2003 as an extension of of the common carrier concept which described the role of telephones in society. Net Neutrality towards applications and data has been one of the main reason for the Internet s success. It has granted the Internet s amazingly innovative and democratic nature. With net neutrality it is the internet s guiding principle, it is our safe guard and it preserves our right to communicate freely online. The internet without Net Neutrality changes the image of what the internet is today. Without net neutrality, phone and cable companies make the calls and decide which websites, content or applications succeed. Overall the government and all service providers should treat all data the same. With net neutrality it is meant to show that internet providers like AT T, Comcast, and Verizon, which also have their own television and streaming video services, can t create slow lanes for competing services. They can not mess up others in favor of their own (Klint Finley 2017) Without net neutrality, the days when broadband companies and cell carriers could let traffic flow faster to one brand of phone or computer over ... • 13. Dangers Of Texting While Driving Did you know every day your life is put at risk because of other s bad driving habits? Well, when I first got my driver s license I believed I was prepared to drive, but I was wrong. I still needed to learn about all the hazards around myself. Habits are tough to break when becoming attached, even though various habits are illegal. However, speeding, texting while driving, and driving under the influence of alcohol are a few of the many extremely common habits drivers use daily. Speeding is a common habit that happens around the world every day. The dangers of speeding are certainly well known to most drivers, either by getting a ticket for speeding from law enforcement, being part of an accident due to reckless driving or even having a loved one be a victim of excessive speeding (Upton). Speeding because one is in a rush, trying to show off to friends, or just do not think the law applies to you, are never the answers for speeding. Accidents can easily result in hitting somebody or losing control of your vehicle from speeding. Speed limits are made to keep the community safe, making the speed limit lower in populated towns, while a little higher on back roads, and highways. School zone s have a vastly low speed limit to insure everyone is being extra cautious for children are everyone around. Even with getting away with speeding, it is still breaking the law while putting others in great danger. Texting while driving is also an extremely dangerous habit. Cell phones ... • 14. Texas Conservative Definition Conservative is defined in the Miriam Webster s dictionary as believing in the value of established and traditional practices in politics and society. With this definition in mind the Texas Legislature, which represents Texas as a whole, is conservative. Texas has historically been a Conservative State, from its admittance into the Union as a Slave State until now. To analyze and support the claim that Texas is a conservative state, we can look to its social stances on Gay Marriage and Abortion, the religious culture, the historical conservative policies, and the Texas economic policies towards taxes. Texas epitomizes the definition of a southern state and is placed in the Bible Belt of the United States because of Texas strong religious background which is the basis for many of the policies enforced in Texas. As the Texas State Historical Association points out The Catholic Church has been a part of Texas history ever since Europeans first set foot on the land in 1528. Cycle Of Recidivism Essay A long term study conducted by Bureau of Justice Statistics found that the average five year recidivism rates of 404,638 prisoners released in 2005 is 76.6% among thirty states in America (Matthew, Alexia, Howard, 2014, p. 1). In other words, most of the released prisoners did not escape the cycle of recidivism and were sent back to the prison after time. This indicates that the present American justice system, which focuses on punishment as Benson (2003) noted, fails to rehabilitate prisoners efficiently and is far from achieving the goal of reducing crime rates (p. 46). It is a creative project. In daily life, victims and offenders seldom meet each other after the court. • 16. Conflicts Within A Group And How A Manager Can Bring Up... Conflicts can happen in everyday life with people and in organizations. Conflicts need to be handled so that the situation does not escalate further. Most people look at conflicts as a bad situation, but not all conflicts are bad, some are good, especially when discussing an idea within a group. In an organization there are times when a conflict may need to happen for an issue to be resolved, but when this happens the people involved need to look at if this conflict is really necessary to resolve the issue. How to address conflicts in a group and how a manager can bring up the conflict without making them worse is what will be discussed next. At many jobs there are projects given that have to be completed in groups and they re more than likely is going to be people within the group that do not necessarily agree on how the project should be completed. This can cause a conflict to arise and to resolve this conflict requires all members of the group to have a say in the resolution. To ensure sufficient discussion of contentious issues in a work group, I would have one person be in charge of the group. This person would make sure that everyone had a turn to give their input and I would make it known to all the group members that what is said cannot be held against the person who says it. The Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES) was put in place on July 1, 1975 to address the need to protect species on a global level by controlling international trade. The aim of CITES is to protect species that are considered endangered (Couzens, 2013). CITES uses three Appendices to evaluate which level the endangered species should be put in. Appendix I includes species that are threatened by extinction due to trading (Couzens, 2013). It bans any trading of these species related to commercial purposes and any trading that could be harmful to their survival (Wiersema, 2013; CITES). Furthermore, any export, re export and import permit must be needed for any accepted import, export or re exported purposes (CITES). Appendix II includes species that may not be perceived near extinction, but regulations regarding trade are put in place to control and regulate it to prevent any endangerment (Wiersema, 2013; Couzens, 2013; CITES). Additionally, any live animal or plant must be cared for with minimal risk to injury, health and treatment during the trading process (CITES). Any export, re export and import permit must be needed for trading purposes (CITES). • 22. Is Aeneas An Epic Hero Essay The Aeneid by Virgil is a story about true heroism in times of war. Wars have always offered many opportunities for heroes to prove themselves. Most of the characters in the Aeneid are seen entering the war enthusiastically in the hope of honoring and glorifying their names. However, Aeneas demonstrates heightened responsibility toward the people he leads. At no point does he show selfishness in the wish for his name to be glorified and honored at death. In essence, Aeneas is committed to the destiny of his people. This uniqueness makes Aeneas an epic hero unlike previous heroes such as Odysseus. Aeneas is duty bound and he follows nothing but fate. Consequently, he is prepared to suffer any loss or harm as long as he reaches where fate directs him to go. Aeneas is an epic hero because he is a dutiful servant to fate, he performs his duties patriotically, his instills confidence in his people, and he is highly responsible for his family and his people. Aeneas is focused on his goal throughout because he knows he is fate s dutiful servant. This aspect readily comes out in his description as a man apart, devoted to his mission, a dedicated man. In addition, Aeneas tells his loved one Dido that his duties are supreme to any other affair he might be having. Aside from commitment to duty, Aeneas faces stiff opposition and enmity but he does not lose faith on his fate (Griffith 309). His faith gains momentum when he sees the beautiful temple Dido constructs for Juno. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In typical applications, the signal is in the form of a current or a voltage. For the signal to be useful, it must be modeled. Signal processing takes time dependent data, and manipulates it to create a mathematical model useful to practical problem solvers. Many techniques for signal processing exist, including Fourier Transforms, moving averages, filtering, and spectral analysis. Spectral analysis uses sampled data to reconstruct a given signal. Though conceptually simple, sampling is typically impractical for most applications due to the large quantity of data involved in the calculations. Plato s Republic, And His Sun Analogy In this essay I will attempt to illustrate the role of the Form of the Good in regards to other Forms and knowledge as the highest form, and a unifying force. Particular emphasis will be placed on Socrates discussion of it in The Republic, and his sun analogy. I will argue that its epistemological role is perhaps most convincing, as the other two fall to a number of criticisms. Other criticisms will be offered, including how vague the theory is, and those offered by Aristotle in particular. The Form of the Good is notoriously ambiguous, in that it is difficult to pin down precisely what it is. In Plato s Republic, through the character of Socrates, we see an attempt to describe what the Form of the Good is, or, at the very least, some general idea of its nature. After stating that philosophers make the best rulers to his interlocutor, Glaucon, he establishes the way to distinguish philosophers from non philosophers. Philosophers can pick out non sensible properties of a Form (eg beauty), as opposed to the non sensible particulars of a thing (such as a beautiful vase). However, Socrates makes it clear that the most important thing for a philosopher king is the knowledge of the Form of the Good. While there are many other Forms, the Good is ultimately superlative in that it is the highest or most superior. Socrates states that it has three key roles. The metamorphosis of technology has made the job further challenging to have a competitive advantage and sustain it. Competitive advantage is defined as an idiosyncratic lead a firm has over its fellow challengers and emulators. This lead enables the firm to vanquish its challenger. In other words it is something that distinguishes an organization from the competitors. For a competitive advantage to be sustainable, the firm has create value creating products or services that cannot be mirrored or matched by its fellow competitors and thereby it will able to outlast for a longer period of time (Bharadwaj, S, Varadarajan, P, Fahy, J 1993) Sustainable competitive advantage entirely depends on how an organization performs in a competitive environment. In order to sustain and consolidate the company s position, innovation becomes crucial. Companies should be in a position to embrace the changes in order to be abreast of the competition and hold its position (Daniela, P ,2014). It begins with a bacterial or viral infection from the throat that spreads into the ear, causing a fluid backup in the middle part of the ear. It is estimated that, by the time they reach two years of age, all the children in the United States currently under that age will have had a total of 9.3 million episodes of acute otitis media, and that approximately 17 percent of children have three or more episodes during a six month period (Berman 1995). ... Even more clearly, the title Drowning girl, adds to the meaning of the piece of art by suggesting to the viewer that the girl may be drowning in ocean waves. The maneuver of a girl in distress in the painting further points to the deep interest of Roy Lichtenstein in the pain that women go through after heartbreaks. Notably, evidence suggests that as a follower of Picasso, Lichtenstein might have been inspired by the former s frequent use of images of crying women to paint the Drowning Girl (Schneider 142). Overall, the use of ocean waves by the author symbolizes distress, as well the vast amount of tears that the heartbreak might have induced which arouse empathy in the viewer. When Jesse Owens set a long jump world record 26 feet, 8 inches in 1935, he was wearing the a shoe concurrent with the times; and when Mike Powell, in 1991 leapt 29.4 ft he was wearing modern light weight synthetic component shoes. (Encyclopedia Britannica) Using Mr. Burfoot s logic Mike Powell did not need to train he just had better equipment, and by default if any other athlete in any sport gets any equipment that could improve performance they will not need to train to compete at a higher level, its the equipment. The amount of athletic skill and intense training it takes for someone with below the knee amputations, to get to a level where you can walk is more than Mr. Burfoot could ever imagine. Learning to run is another category altogether. He shows his lack of knowledge most with the low quality of the writing and with a lackluster approach to a controversial subject. The writing and tone of this article give the impression of an uninformed bigot tap dancing around a controversial subject trying not to get dirty. He starts early in the article with, I know I d be smart to ignore the bait and leave this subject alone, but; this line alone says, this is a controversial subject, but I am going give you what I think, no apologies. Iraq gained its independence on October 3rd, 1932. Iraq was an independent nation nonetheless the British monarchy remained in the system and gave Britain power to rule over Iraq. Britain ruled over Iraq for about half a century more than they were suppose to. After WW2 Britain took a heavy hit and weren t able to assert their power in Iraq. Iraq then truly became an autonomous country. After the British Monarchy was over thrown, amateur civilian parties and inadequately trained Iraqi militants ruled Iraq until 1979, the year when Saddam Hussein came into power and became the Iraqi dictator. In order to gain power, Saddam secretly had to strengthen his connections till a time came when he confronted Ahmed Hassan al Bakr: president at that time. Saddam Hussein presented the president with two options, first to resign so Saddam Hussein can come to power or second he dies and then Saddam Hussein comes to power. In both scenarios Saddam Hussein gained position of the head of state and Ahmed Hassan al Bakr gladly stepped down. No doubt, Saddam Hussein was a powerful dictator with supreme authority. • 43. Gentrification Is The Country s Timeless Struggle Inequality has been the country s timeless struggle. Throughout the course of the United States history, there have been processes that have given a certain group of people the upper hand in a circumstance, thus fueling inequality in our nation. An ongoing process that negatively effects the lower class and benefits the upper class is called gentrification. Gentrification has been defined as the replacement of the low income, inner city working class residents by middle or upper class households, either through the market for existing housing or demolition to make way for new upscale housing construction (Hammel and Wyly, 1996, p.250). Gentrification is deleterious because it revitalizes areas where low income residents reside in, thus causing the displacement and allows affluent residents to flood the given area whilst changing the entire environment from its original state. In my paper, I will be discussing how the process of gentrification begins and what it entails, define longtime residents, and describe the feelings of displacement felt by these residents. How the plague spreads Although a rapid phenomenon, the process of gentrification initially starts at a slow pace. According to Biro (2007), When low income houses are renovated they reach a higher quality and therefore are marketable to buyers who can afford to pay a premium for homes with better quality characteristics. (p. 42) The individuals who cannot cope with the gentrification process due to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 45. History Of The Writs Of Assistance Essay When discussing the Writs of Assistance, we must first understand why they were created and why James Otis believed they were infringing upon citizens basic rights. Writs of Assistance were first authorized by English Parliament and King Charles II in 1660, which later was issued by Exchequer of Pleas, a court in England that dealt with cases surrounding the principles of natural and common law. Writs of Assistance were used in both English and colonial governments at the time, and were created to grant law enforcement officials the right to search homes suspected of holding smuggled goods without the need for a warrant. A Writ of Assistance was commonly called a writ of restitution or a writ of possession depending on the need for the writ, whether it be a eviction or a search for goods. During the time that Charles II served as king of england, the legality of Writ of Assistance was questioned in 1761, during the attempted renewal of the law. Although the Revolutionary war did not start until 1775, the Writ of Assistance law that allowed general warrants in the colonies played a major role in the disagreements ...
