Abc Legal Case
We all have occasion to disagree with others either at work, in friendships or other social and
community interactions, but most of the time, we are able to resolve these disagreements, if not
completely amicably, at least to the extent that we can still associate with the person or persons
involved. Sadly, this is often not what happens in family disputes, which can quickly escalate into
open warfare with neither side wanting to give ground. If you or someone you know is in an untenable
position in a family dispute, the best option is to seek legal advice as quickly as possible. Many people
lose out in these situations because the emotional entanglements are more difficult to deal with than
the legal ones. They become angry, hurt and frustrated ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I wasn t prepared to back down either, as there was valuable property involved, so I contacted ABC
Legal. They were recommended by a friend, and honestly, I don t think I would be where I am now
without their efforts at mediation. We finally came to an agreement without going to court, and we
have both moved on, said Tansy V. There are many occasions where mediation is not welcome and it
is in these situations where ABC Legal is absolutely outstanding in their knowledge of family law.
From de facto relationship issues to financial agreements and matrimonial property settlements, often
involving substantial assets held in complex company and trust arrangements, ABC Legal has the
skills and professionalism necessary to prepare their clients for the Family Court hearings. My wife
and I started our business from scratch 25 years ago, but as it became more successful, we started
having personal problems. By the time we accepted that the relationship was beyond repair, we had
two business ventures employing 35 people, several investment properties, a swag of share holdings
and other assets. ABC Legal represented me in Court and I walked away with what was fair and
reasonable. I think without their expertise, it could have been much worse, said Vernon

Women in Engineering
Engineering is a field dominated by men in today s society, for many reasons. When people think
about engineering they think about men with glasses and never does a women come to mind.
However, there have been many studies on the skills that keep women out of engineering as a career
yet there is no proof that women cannot or do not possess the skills needed to be a successful engineer.
Therefore, it is thought and stereotyped that women do not have the skills to have an engineering
career. Due to the studies and stereotypes the questions then arise as to what makes a good engineer.
Many have the same response to the question but not one skill can a women not posses. Women are
stereotyped as being dumb just because they are pretty. If a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

1) . These are the skills people think make a good engineer; however, not one of the qualities is being
a male. But further research could be done as to why men think women do not posses these skills?
Therefore, women are just as capable as being a engineer as men are if they posses these qualities.
Women have the qualities that are needed to become good engineers. The only way that women are
different from men in the field is in the training. Women have all the capability to become good
engineers as men if they can receive the proper/same training, employment and promotion as men. In
receiving training women make up a extremely small amount of the student population in science
related majors. Only 53% of the total students in Scotland universities are women. However bellow
19% are studying engineering, computer studies, and physicals sciences. Likewise, University
students in Germany were only 48% women. Of the 48% of women only 20% of the engineering
students are women. Women are the minority in engineering and like courses. In Bulgarian they
limited women to only be allowed to make up 50% of engineering students.

The Chicano Of Chicano Literature
FINAL ESSAY
Chicano Literature has been around since the 1800s after the Mexican war . Mexican American
Literature is stories that writers talk about their ethnic identities through Chicano culture situations
and characters. They are their own culture, who take traditions and customs from Mexico and
American and make up their own history with it. They try to identify themselves with one culture or
the other, the food, the customs, traditions and many other things. The boundaries that define a
Chicano/a is that Chicanos live between two worlds, between two borders the American side and their
Mexican side. At first, the borders may stop them from assimilating, constructing an environment of
mistrust and hesitation. However, these boundaries do not reveal who they are until they figure out
how to blend into their new society . If they do not assimilate to their new identity/culture it may
cause them to lose a part of who they are. Nonetheless, being near a Border can have benefits as well
as consequences like the loss of culture. Assimilation means to adapt to a new culture and become a
part of them. People of different backgrounds and beliefs undergo assimilation when, through living
together, they come to see themselves as part of a larger community. The reason why you see
assimilation often in Chicano/a Literature is because many Mexicans try to blend into the American
culture. Many Chicanos write stories about what they have lived through the years or stories they have

Analysis Of The Poem The Carnival
Using the carnival as a background is appropriate because it is a time of celebration when everything
is in chaos and people have lost their self control. The carnival may be a symbol of Montresor s own
madness and the crazy thoughts in his head. The carnival usually indicates joyful social interaction but
it is distorted by Montresor. Montresor s reference to the bones and vaults of his family foreshadow
the story s descent into the underworld. The underground travels of the two men are a metaphor for
their trip to hell. The carnival is essentially for the living but Montresor takes it into the vaults
underground, to the realm of the dead and the satanic. The setting Poe chose for the story adds to the
terror. Most of the events of the story runs in dark, damp tunnels piled with the bones of dead people.
By taking Fortunato into the vaults, Montresor cuts him off from help. The two characters are
underground and isolated. Taking Fortunato to the catacombs means a descent into hell. The
underground catacomb suggests confinement. This is called the Gothic Interior. Poe writes: At the
most remote end of the crypt there appeared another less spacious. Its walls had been lined with
human remains piled to the vault overhead, in the fashion of the great catacombs of Paris. Three sides
of this interior crypt were still ornamented in this manner. From the fourth the bones had been thrown
down, and lay promiscuously upon the earth, forming at one point a mound of some size.

in Washington State and Victoria, Australia states that Marijuana is the most used taboo drug
worldwide and an estimated 181 million of the world s adults used marijuana in 2011. School based
prevention programs/policies have become the most prominent mode of drug prevention for
adolescents. The main object of the study in this scientific journal article is adolescent students
marijuana use. There are multiple goals of this study. The first goal of the study is to determine if
student marijuana use can be predicted by the amount in which the school enforces their drug policies.
The second, is to determine if student marijuana use can be predicted by the different ways in which
schools respond to drug use in school The last goal, is to determine if student marijuana use can be
predicted based upon the level that a school s drug policy is based on refraining from using marijuana
and the minimization of harm. The hypotheses of this study are affirming the goals. The first is that
student marijuana use can in fact be predicted by the amount that the school enforces their drug
policies. The second is that student marijuana use can in fact be predicted by the different ways in
which schools respond to the drug use in their school. The last hypothesis is that, student marijuana

Similarities Between Englishment And Nationalism
Explaining the concept of Caribbean identity has proven to be challenging because the Caribbean is
considered to be a melting pot of various ethnic groups and culture. However, in the discourse of the
concept of Caribbean identity, the terms Scottish Enlightenment and nationalism are pivotal to this
discussion. Hence, the author of this paper will describe both terms and explain the similarities
between both concepts.
Scottish Enlightenment
The Scottish Enlightenment is characterized as an upsurge of intellectual and scientific achievements
during the 18th century in Scotland which emphasized reason and thought and the power of
individuals to solve problems. According to Berry (2000) the Scottish Enlightenment refers to a self
conscious movement ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He also claimed that during the Enlightenment period there was growth in the area of literacy which
generated many new ideologies and the opposition of the old regime.
According to Scott and Marshall (2009) the Enlightenment thinkers purported that society was the
natural state of civilization and that individuals are innately social and their capabilities were
insignificant beyond a social framework. Nationalism shares this belief in regard to the concept of
solidarity founded in the preindustrial period (Hutchinson Smith, 1994). Moreover, both the Scottish
Enlightenment and nationalism contributed to national development and was seen in establishment of
buildings and monuments (Hutchinson Smith, 1994).
Furthermore, nationalism, similar to the Scottish Enlightenment contributed to nation building in the
context of recognition and unification of the community by offering an evolutionary view of its
society. Moreover, both nationalism and the Enlightenment altered the mind set of individuals
especially in times of social unrest. The thinkers of the Enlightenment and the cultural nationalists
were moral visionaries and were dedicated to social

problem formulation, search for alternatives, evaluation of alternatives, choice of alternatives, start of
operation, implementation and control. Last summer when I interned with the Golden State Warriors

The Magic Flute Analysis
The recitative tells the story and the aria responds emotionally to what just happened.
The recitative refers to song speech. It is derived from the Italian verb meaning to recite and its
purpose is to portray the quality of speech. The no. 4 recitative of The Magic Flute is where we are
introduced to the Queen of the Night. The recitative is in the key of B flat major and continues the
Allegro maestoso tempo marking of the entrance music. It starts with a syncopated accompaniment
figure which is useful in creating a disturbed and restless mood, making listeners wary of the Queen of
the Night.
Mozart adopts secco accompagnato, an old style from the Baroque operas. However, Mozart did not
entirely utilise the Baroque opera styles and structures. Baroque arias were characteristically in the
ternary form, which was a reason for their downfall as the music did not move with a strong sense of
direction it always ends where it started, which stopped the progress. Mozart changed it in a number
of ways. He used the orchestra as a filling more complex than in earlier music, and a way for mood
setting, which is a crucial difference compared to before. When the Queen of the night starts to sing,
dry chords are played in the orchestra to keep the singer in tune and also emphasise certain words. The
secco accompaniment brings the music to modulate to the relative G minor. This leads into the aria.
The aria is kind of in binary form, however it is not exactly binary as the two parts are not related. The
first part starts in G minor in Larghetto and shows us the introverted, worried and anxious side of the
Queen as she remembers the horror of her daughter s kidnapping. The second part of the aria is back
to B flat major and is in Allegro moderato. This part portrays her bossy and commanding personality
as she orders Tamino to rescue her daughter. This aria would be more appropriately classified as
through composed as the music follows the text.
The Queen of the Night attempts to create a firm image of herself, but the music betrays her. It shows
her lack of control. The very rapid shifting between emotions suggests that she is fickle and shows
that her façade is extremely shallow.
In the recitative, Mozart uses a

NWFSC Garden
For more than fifty years, Northwest Florida State College (NWFSC) has been a vital part of life in
the Okaloosa and Walton county areas. In addition to serving the community with adult education and
college courses, NWFSC provides the Child Development Education Center, Collegiate High School,
AmeriCorps, Choctawhatchee Basin Alliance, and Mattie M. Kelly Cultural Environmental Institute.
A natural extension of these programs would be an on campus NWFSC Garden. The dictionary
definition of a garden is 1) a plot of ground, usually near a house, where flowers, shrubs, vegetables,
fruits, or herbs are cultivated. 2) a piece of ground or other space, commonly with ornamental plants,
trees, etc., used as a park or other public recreation ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Gardens offer science and mathematics lessons in enjoyable, hands on situations that permit children
to think with their hands . Gardens help teach communities and endorse sustainable, local foods while
also providing critical science and mathematics lessons to elementary students. Gardens also teach
children life lessons such as patience and accountability as they nurture plants. Research done by the
University of Alabama demonstrates that children s participation in gardens leads to healthier food
choices, more compliance to try or eat vegetables, improved plant knowledge, greater interest in
learning, and increased reading and math standardized test scores. Students who participated in
gardening had a six percent lower body mass index, an average of eleven percent higher standardized
test scores, and twenty seven percent more vegetable consumption (Grider). For many students, school
can be a uninteresting but required exercise where paying attention and retaining information becomes
a tedious endeavor. When an active teacher decides to teach science through gardening and hands on
experience, they will discover that students are more engaged with a higher voluntary participation
rate. NWFSC should start a garden because of the possible learning opportunities that can be available
to local elementary

The Theory Of Mind ( Tom )
Theory of mind (ToM) is the ability to differentiate one s own mental state from others and therefore,
influence the behaviour accordingly. Mental states comprise of the individual s desires, beliefs and
intentions. ToM is considered to be a milestone in psychosocial development as pre schoolers at the
age of 4 or 5 tend to be able to recognise that not everyone perceive the same reality as they do
(Wellman, Cross Watson, 2001). This is known as false belief and is an important skill in
comprehending and predicting people s emotions and actions to construct a meaningful relationship.
Many have argued that ToM coincides with language acquisition providing a mechanism to apprehend
mental states within one s cognition (Karmiloff Smith, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
That is, whether a deaf child was from a deaf family or normally hearing, and thus the immersion of
the natural language leading to a successful ToM maturation. Moreover, a cochlear implant can
improve a hearing impaired child s communication skills, which benefits social functioning, but still
lag considerably behind in ToM compared to normally hearing peers. The outcomes of a delayed ToM
do not occur in a particular order nor should they be considered as distinct features. Rather, the
consequences are intertwined whereby one particular aspect can affect the other. For a deaf child, their
natural language is signing (Mayer Leigh, 2010). Auslan or other variations of signing is instinctive to
a deaf individual because it is the language that they can form coherent sentences and explicit
semantics to engage in a discourse. Although language is predominately symbols rather than verbal or
written compared to a deaf child s normally hearing peers, it still allows the child to apprehend mental
states in their cognition and conceive others around. Therefore, studies have shown that these children
can do just as well, or even better, on false belief tests than hearing children (Marschark Clark, 1998).
In other words, despite being diagnosed as deaf or hard of hearing, native signers typically show no
delayed ToM and the implication is higher control of behaviours, or executive functioning, and

Pit Bulls Pros And Cons
All creatures of the animal kingdom have an aggressive, cunning facet to them. To endure in a more
savage world than exists today, animals and humans had to perfect their abilities to survive in
environments filled with competitor and enemy species. Adaptation entailed mastering a combination
of skills such as foraging, swimming, stalking, hunting, and killing. Today s tail wagging companions
were the first wild creatures to be domesticated. Through the process of domestication, which
demands taming and selection for docility, the ancestral wolf, Canis lupus, was transformed into the
dog known today. Within recent years, there has been increasing media coverage on dog bites from the
Pit Bull breed, spurring a flurry of concern over the possibility ... Show more content on

The media, whether it is reporting on a political campaign or a celebrity s latest fashion choice, has a
strong influence on the opinions formed by the American public. Many people do not take the time to
research and read studies on what they see in the news. The American Veterinary Association has
recommended keeping in mind that in contrast to what has been reported in the news, data cannot be
used to make conclusions about breed specific threats (Sacks et al., 2000). Breed discrimination is
unfounded because studies have shown that Pit Bulls are not the most aggressive dogs. The American
Veterinary Society for Animal Behavior reported in their Position Statement on Breed Specific
Legislation (2014) that Jack Russell Terriers, Labrador Retrievers and Golden Retrievers were the
breeds most commonly referred for aggression. In 1982, Pinckney and Kennedy found that in a study
of 73 fatal dog attacks throughout the United States only six of them were attributed to the Bullterrier
whereas 16 were accredited to German Shepherds. Interestingly, these other dogs do not get as much
mass media attention as the Pit Bull. Following the logic of banning the most dangerous dogs, Golden
Retrievers and German Shepherds should also be heavily regulated, however, they are not. This could
be due to the larger musculature and general imposing physical presence of Pit Bulls when compared
to the fluffier Golden Retrievers. Breed specific bans on Pit Bulls unfairly single out one breed while
ignoring data that reveals other dogs to be more likely to display

Core Values In Public Administration
Core values are a wide expression to describe the principles by which we describe individual,
occupation, or business. Through the development of brainstorming and studying my professional
experience, I have established in a set of values that are very essential in public administration. In
order to succeed successfully at an organizational and personal level in the public administration,
these values must be trained on a daily basis.
To exercise transparency in public administration is to certify peoples the accessibility of data which is
thought public. This has to be a business objective, and is to be taken into explanation when showing
all public industries irrespective of one s job title. If the objective of a business is to help the citizens
to the greatest of their capability, then failing or avoiding achieving transparency would affect major
harm to the connection between them and the citizen they are aiming to help.
Accountability is to obey to a regular of professionalism in the workroom. Also, it means to recognize
that the professional events are being supported by the peoples of this nation. As such, public workers
are held accountable by peoples for keeping the operation of their business. Accountability is an
essential feature of the functionality of any business private or public. Basically, it reminds people that
while they are working by a professional business they will be held accountable for their actions.
Each public administrator is requested to follow

Reasons to Not Allow Women in the Front Lines
About 200,000 plus women are on active duty for the military out of 1.4 million serving. Out of the
200,000, 2.7 percent of them make up the front line units (CNN). This is approximately 5,400 women
that are enlisted and are fighting on the front lines. This number is very low and should be much
higher. This number represents the idea that the military believes women should not be on the front
lines. Many people in society believe that what the military is doing is wrong and females should be
able to fight on the front lines. There has been an official ban on women fighting on the front lines by
the military. Recently many people are discussing the idea of lifting the ban and giving females the
ability to fight in the front lines while the other party believes that women should not.
This ban was stated in 1994 when the Pentagon restricted women from artillery, armor, infantry and
other combat roles. In recent years, women had found themselves in combat in Iraq and Afghanistan
and according to the Pentagon, hundreds of thousands of these women have been deployed in those
conflicts (NYTIMESBANLIFT). One major benefit of lifting the ban will be the amount of jobs that
will be created. This will allow a boost in job openings in the army. No matter how strong you are, the
only thing that matters is the will to fight and to protect the nation.
Reasons to not allow women on the front lines
The British military determined that 1 in 100 trained female soldiers

Analysis Of Baymax In The Film Big Hero 6
In the 2014 movie, Big Hero 6, there is a character named Baymax. Baymax is an inflatable robot and

According to the World Health Organization, cancer is the fifth leading cause of death (WHO 1). 12.7

Analysis Of Joseph Miller s Slaving As Historical Process
In his work, Slaving as Historical Process: Examples from the Ancient Mediterranean and the Modern
Atlantic, Joseph Miller proposes that slavery is a byproduct arising from specifiable tensions within
larger and more complex historical processes. However, I would continue this argument by adding
those processes are often rooted in a society s attempt to propel itself to economically and culturally
flourish, often at the expense of human beings. Furthermore, while there are recurring patterns of
enslavement in these societies, the specific context and degree that each slave system was
implemented in affects the conditions, justification, and abolition of enslavement in Ancient Rome,
Nineteenth Century American South, and contemporary Dubai.
Ancient Rome spanned from 753 B.C to 476 A.D. While there is no single historical context that led
to the use of slaves, the constant expansion of the empire led to both the demand and supply of labor.
Thus, slaves became the backbone of the Ancient Roman Empire. Making up one third of the
population during the reign of Trajan, 98 A.D 117 A.D., they enhanced Rome both economically and
culturally. When the military would take over an area they would sell the inhabitants to Roman
citizens and make a profit for the state. This constant influx of free labor allowed ... Show more

The Role Of Oedipus Rex
Oedipus Rex is a play written by Sophocles in 429 BC. Oedipus Rex was a king who happened to kill
his own biological father Laius and married his biological mother Jocasta and had kids with her. The
most prominent role was played by fate in the life of Oedipus Rex which coiled the characters in such
a way that could not try and avoid the prophecy of a great Tiresias.
Aware of a terrible curse that has befallen Thebes, Oedipus sends his brother in law, Creon, to seek the
advice of Apollo. Creon informs Oedipus that the curse can only be prevented if the murderer of

And it also points out the emotions and ideas that the mind stores in the unconscious, through dynamic
repression, that focuses upon a child s desire to form sexual relations with the parent of the opposite
sex. This concept was derived from the legend of Oedipus Rex. His story served to be central in
psychoanalysis. He also made its use to name the most important of all the psychoanalytic complexes:
the infamous Oedipus Complex. In the ancient distorted version of the Oedipus Complex it is believed

Managerial Accounting Is A Discipline Within The Accounting
Managerial accounting is a discipline within the accounting community that focuses on providing
valuable information to the leaders of their organization. The importance of the community relies on
its ability to provide information that is not readily found in traditional financial statements developed
in the accounting department for reporting to outside agencies. Activity based management utilizes
information developed using activity based costing (ABC) to accurately determine product costs.
Accurate and detailed information is required for an organization to reliably budget for the upcoming
quarter or year. A complete understanding of the significance of activity based costing and thorough
knowledge of budget concepts are critical ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
ABC provides a path to assign the overhead to the product requiring the overhead. In the above
scenario, 75% of the production efforts are for product A, so 75% of the overhead can be assigned to
product A. Activity based costing attempts to overcome the perceived deficiencies in traditional
costing methods by more closely aligning activities with products. This requires abandoning the
traditional division between product and period costs, instead seeking to find a more direct linkage
between activities, costs, and products (Walther, 2010). ABC is very beneficial to organizations that
produce many products. ABC applies all costs (direct and indirect) to a product s cost. To apply the
principles of ABC, and organization must first gather all of the available cost information for the
organization. Once this is complete, the organization must identify activities. This is an important step
because too many activities will become too large an undertaking to manage while too few will not
yield the desired results. Once the activities are identified, the organization must identify traceable
costs. These are costs that can be directly related to a product. At this point, one must assign the
remaining costs. These are costs, such as janitorial services that cannot be tied to a specific product.
Once all costs are assigned, the organization must determine the per activity allocation rates. For
instance, if it costs a company $10,000 to

On the Origin of Species
In his On the Origin of Species, written in 1859, Charles Darwin clearly explained the gradual
progression toward the speciation of organisms with his five main principles: variation, inheritance,
competition, selection, and propagation. Darwin hesitated to publish his findings because he
understood that his findings were based on the animal kingdom and on an evolutionary process that
had to have spanned millennia. He specifically did not think that his discoveries were applicable to the
evolution of human society. Contrary to Darwin s preference, Herbert Spencer did exactly what
Darwin hoped to avoid by publishing numerous works supporting his own, new thesis of Social
Darwinism, which claimed that Darwin s principles of evolution ... Show more content on

He lived off of his family s wealth and instead of working, he devoted himself wholly to his studies. In
1896, he published his most comprehensive work, The Synthetic Philosophy, a work encompassing
many of his theories on society, evolution, morality, and psychology. Spencer died December 8, 1903
while working on his autobiography, which was then published in 1904. Through his anti clerical and
rejectionist upbringing, Spencer was raised to attach to a theory like Darwinian evolution. In his first
published article on the development of Social Darwinism, entitled The Development Hypothesis,
1852, Spencer established his lack of faith and claimed that creationism was a theory which is
supported by no facts at all. He further elaborated on the issue and asserted that there must be another
mode by which the world was created. He even went as far as to write that, if he were to interrogate
any leading geologist or physiologists they would be forced to confess that the notion was put into his
mind in childhood as part of a story which he now thinks is absurd. Spencer believed that creationism
was not a viable medium on which to base scientific thought, and as a result, he was forced to find
another way to explain the creation of the world. For this reason, he was drawn to evolutionary
Darwinism. Spencer however, could not just accept Darwinian evolution as fact. Rather, he expanded
the theory of Darwinian evolution to meet his own

Comparing Christian Bible And The New Testament
The Christian Bible is split into two divisions, the Old Testament and the New Testament. The Old
Testament, the first division, focuses mainly on the history of the creation of our world, specifically
the history and religion of the people of Israel. The second division, the New Testament, mainly
focuses on the life and religious teachings of Jesus and the beliefs of the Christian church. Although
the New Testament acts as an extension/continuation of the Old Testament, a main difference between
the two if the characterization of God and his relationship with humanity. In both divisions, although
God condemns those who are guilty of sinning and does so in a way that can often be seen as quite
wrathful, his loving side is depicted a lot more in the New Testament than in the Old Testament. ...

In the Old Testament, in the Creation Story (Genesis), God proves how vicious he can be with his
punishments when he punishes the serpent for allowing Eve to touch the tree of knowledge. The Bible
states, And the lord God said unto the serpent, because thou hast done this, thou art cursed above all
cattle, and above every beast of the field; upon thy belly shalt thou go, and dust shalt thou eat all the
days of thy life, (Gen. 3.14). Right then and there God exhibits his power over all living things. God
has a very strong opinion about the life that he s created and always has consequences for things that
he finds wrong with the world. In the Flood, while conversing with Noah, God says, The end of all
flesh is come before mel for the earth is filled with violence through them and, behold, I will destroy
them with the earth, (Gen. 6.13). The God being depicted in the Old Testament is very merciless and
seeks full divine judgment for all things he

Combating Childhood Obesity And Its Effects
Combatting Childhood Obesity
Tanema Foster
University of Missouri Kansas City
May 4, 2016
In today s society it is easy to get caught up into living a sedentary and unhealthy lifestyle. With new
technologies, social media, etc, people are choosing to opt out of doing much active work and are
choosing to do things from the comfort of their own bed or couch. Many people choose to enjoy the
luxuries of online shopping, banking, mail, socializing, ordering food, games, and even dating!
Additionally, United States citizens have fully embraced the fast food industry for some of the same
reasons. It s much easier and cheaper than buying groceries all of the time, so many families have
adapted fast food to be the default choice for their everyday meals. Much of fast food is very
unhealthy; full of saturated fat and sugars that can induce fatal diseases and illnesses. So although we
are advancing as a nation when it comes to conventional living and technology, we are also seeing a
dramatic decline in the amount of people who are living and leading healthy lifestyles and thus an
increase in obesity. Diseases such as obesity can be prevented by simply making the right health
choices. But what about those who don t have a choice? What about the children? Today I m going to
go in to depth about childhood obesity, what it is, why it is concerning and what is being done about it.
As of 2010, nearly 35 percent of children and adolescents aged 6 to 19 are overweight and

Jean Louis Rodolphe Agassiz Essay
Jean Louis Rodolphe Agassiz
(1807 1873)
Jean Louis Rodolphe Agassiz was born in Motier, Switzerland on May 28, 1807. Born the son of a
Protestant pastor, Louis Agassiz was raised in a religious environment but clearly possessed a deep
interest in natural history and science. I spent most of the time I could spare...in hunting the
neighboring woods and meadows for birds, insects, and land and fresh water shells (Lurie 9).
Throughout his childhood and adolescence, his curiosities about nature and its origins drove him to
become a prominent figure in natural history, zoology, and ichthyology.
Louis Agassiz commenced his education in natural history at the universities of Zurich, Heidelberg,
and Munich (Lurie x). After ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In 1857, Contributions to the Natural History of the United States was published, of which the greater
portion of volume one became Essay on Classification (Lurie introduction). In this text, Agassiz made
comparisons between animals and their specific environments, theorized the relations between them,
and proposed systems of zoological order. This work came at a time of significant discoveries as well
as changes in biology. During these years other noteworthy biologists and comparative anatomists
such as Huxley, Joseph Dalton Hooker, and Darwin were beginning to also assemble a framework for
natural history (Lurie xxiii). Throughout Essay, Agassiz depicted clearly his standpoint as a supporter
of special creationism.
Chapter one of Essay on Classification examined the relations of animals to each other and their
environments. The basis behind this work established the groundwork for his belief in evidence of a
creator through the obvious design of creation in nature. Frequently exploring the immutability of
species, Agassiz depicted the overall plan and structure of an organism to be more important than any
variation that may occur in a species (Agassiz 19 20). In addition, he also addressed the question of
how and when species appeared on earth. With his extensive background with the fossil record, he
theorized, as seen in chapter 1, section VII, that every great type of

The Impact Of Agriculture In Agriculture
As the growth rate of the population steadily increases, a surge in consumption of commodities will
additionally increase . One basic commodity that will have an escalated demand would be food.
Innovation within technology has allowed the process of mass production of goods. Production of
goods on a large scale allows farmers to meet the needs of the majority of consumers capitalizing on
market share. In order to meet consumers forever growing needs, land must be acquired in order to
generate new farms for agriculture. Although the needs of consumers are being meet, the act of mass
production of agricultural is contributing to the destruction of our planet. Consumers need to be aware
of the repercussions of mass production on a global scale, in order to create a sustainable outcome
while still continuing to let needs be met. With contributing factors of global warming , the population
needs to be informed of harmful processes through agricultural farming such as deforestation,
livestock, and crop emissions.
The the population growing at alarming rates, food supply must increase. Farmers will need to seek
more land in order to meet these needs. By 2050, population will increase from 7.3 billion people to
9.7 billion. With a 32.8 percent increase in population, food demand is estimated to increase from a
range of 59 percent to 98 percent (Elferink Schierhorn, 2016). With demand for food doubling in the

Evaluation Of The And Emotional Development
Throughout the assessments, I found Julia to be average or superior to developmental milestones for
children her age. To assure all areas were observed, I allowed a week to monitor the assessment data
for two checklists. I observed social and emotional development over a three day span to allow for
situational stimuli and behavior adjustments from a quick trip to visit her paternal grandparents.
Finally, to pull all my information together, I completed a time sampling assessment to observe
actions during free play. This time sampling focused on general intellectual behaviors which may
indicate a level of giftedness in comparison with other children her age. With all the observations
completed, I have analyzed each of the assessment work sheets. Observation of Julia s gross motor
skills in relationship to abilities of children 3 5 years was completed using a checklist. The checklist
indicated whether or not a specific skill was observed during the week of observation. This check list
indicates Julia is on target developmentally. Because she is athletic and likes to play physically, her
gross motor skills are strong. Using the checklist to determine areas in which ... additional support and
help (Bentzen, 2009, p. 8) is needed, attention should focus on balance and strength. Using balance
skills would produce the greatest qualifiers in her development. To do this, Julia may be taught to

How Does Marjane Use Forgiveness In Persepolis
Persepolis Essay #1 Marjane Satrapi is a girl who lives in a country ruled by a man not loved by the
people. It is a place where many struggles happen and where she is forced to grow up and understand
the things happening around her. The author of this book conveys the theme of forgiveness through
internal conflict and her use of comics and images in the Persepolis novel. In the beginning of the
novel, Marjane has her life turned around when the shah of her country, Iran, started passing many
rules and regulations, which the people did not like. As a result, the people started to protest in the
streets and many would get hurt or worse trying voice their beliefs. An example of how this led to
Marjane believing the wrong things about people from what she heard from others is ... Show more

At least for now, Marjane is being taught to see things in a new light and this will help her in the way
the her mother intends. On the other hand, while Marjane s mother struggles to correctly teach her 10
year old daughter how to forgive, she and her husband still participate in the demonstrations taking
place around their town instead of setting a better example for their daughter. In a way, while Marjane
s mother tries to teach her one thing, her actions and the things she says with her father and the outside
world may teach Marjane otherwise. They both talk about the injustice of the regime in their country
freely and openly in front of Marjane without even thinking about the way they could be sending
mixed messages to their daughter. An example of how this has affected Marjane is the way her mother
reacts when they find someone close to them was executed while in prison and how two other family
friends, at their reunion described the way they were tortured and how their other cell mate, a member
of the guerillas, was also executed

  • 2. Abc Legal Case We all have occasion to disagree with others either at work, in friendships or other social and community interactions, but most of the time, we are able to resolve these disagreements, if not completely amicably, at least to the extent that we can still associate with the person or persons involved. Sadly, this is often not what happens in family disputes, which can quickly escalate into open warfare with neither side wanting to give ground. If you or someone you know is in an untenable position in a family dispute, the best option is to seek legal advice as quickly as possible. Many people lose out in these situations because the emotional entanglements are more difficult to deal with than the legal ones. They become angry, hurt and frustrated ... There are many occasions where mediation is not welcome and it is in these situations where ABC Legal is absolutely outstanding in their knowledge of family law. From de facto relationship issues to financial agreements and matrimonial property settlements, often involving substantial assets held in complex company and trust arrangements, ABC Legal has the skills and professionalism necessary to prepare their clients for the Family Court hearings. My wife and I started our business from scratch 25 years ago, but as it became more successful, we started having personal problems. By the time we accepted that the relationship was beyond repair, we had two business ventures employing 35 people, several investment properties, a swag of share holdings and other assets. When people think about engineering they think about men with glasses and never does a women come to mind. However, there have been many studies on the skills that keep women out of engineering as a career yet there is no proof that women cannot or do not possess the skills needed to be a successful engineer. Therefore, it is thought and stereotyped that women do not have the skills to have an engineering career. Due to the studies and stereotypes the questions then arise as to what makes a good engineer. Many have the same response to the question but not one skill can a women not posses. Women are stereotyped as being dumb just because they are pretty. If a ... But further research could be done as to why men think women do not posses these skills? Therefore, women are just as capable as being a engineer as men are if they posses these qualities. Women have the qualities that are needed to become good engineers. The only way that women are different from men in the field is in the training. Women have all the capability to become good engineers as men if they can receive the proper/same training, employment and promotion as men. In receiving training women make up a extremely small amount of the student population in science related majors. Only 53% of the total students in Scotland universities are women. However bellow 19% are studying engineering, computer studies, and physicals sciences. Likewise, University students in Germany were only 48% women. • 4. The Chicano Of Chicano Literature FINAL ESSAY Chicano Literature has been around since the 1800s after the Mexican war . Mexican American Literature is stories that writers talk about their ethnic identities through Chicano culture situations and characters. They are their own culture, who take traditions and customs from Mexico and American and make up their own history with it. They try to identify themselves with one culture or the other, the food, the customs, traditions and many other things. The boundaries that define a Chicano/a is that Chicanos live between two worlds, between two borders the American side and their Mexican side. At first, the borders may stop them from assimilating, constructing an environment of mistrust and hesitation. However, these boundaries do not reveal who they are until they figure out how to blend into their new society . If they do not assimilate to their new identity/culture it may cause them to lose a part of who they are. Nonetheless, being near a Border can have benefits as well as consequences like the loss of culture. Assimilation means to adapt to a new culture and become a part of them. People of different backgrounds and beliefs undergo assimilation when, through living together, they come to see themselves as part of a larger community. The reason why you see assimilation often in Chicano/a Literature is because many Mexicans try to blend into the American culture. Many Chicanos write stories about what they have lived through the years or stories they have ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Analysis Of The Poem The Carnival Using the carnival as a background is appropriate because it is a time of celebration when everything is in chaos and people have lost their self control. The carnival may be a symbol of Montresor s own madness and the crazy thoughts in his head. The carnival usually indicates joyful social interaction but it is distorted by Montresor. Montresor s reference to the bones and vaults of his family foreshadow the story s descent into the underworld. The underground travels of the two men are a metaphor for their trip to hell. The carnival is essentially for the living but Montresor takes it into the vaults underground, to the realm of the dead and the satanic. The setting Poe chose for the story adds to the terror. Most of the events of the story runs in dark, damp tunnels piled with the bones of dead people. By taking Fortunato into the vaults, Montresor cuts him off from help. The two characters are underground and isolated. Taking Fortunato to the catacombs means a descent into hell. The underground catacomb suggests confinement. This is called the Gothic Interior. Poe writes: At the most remote end of the crypt there appeared another less spacious. Its walls had been lined with human remains piled to the vault overhead, in the fashion of the great catacombs of Paris. Three sides of this interior crypt were still ornamented in this manner. From the fourth the bones had been thrown down, and lay promiscuously upon the earth, forming at one point a mound of some size. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

However, in the discourse of the concept of Caribbean identity, the terms Scottish Enlightenment and nationalism are pivotal to this discussion. Hence, the author of this paper will describe both terms and explain the similarities between both concepts. Nationalism shares this belief in regard to the concept of solidarity founded in the preindustrial period (Hutchinson Smith, 1994). Moreover, both the Scottish Enlightenment and nationalism contributed to national development and was seen in establishment of buildings and monuments (Hutchinson Smith, 1994). Furthermore, nationalism, similar to the Scottish Enlightenment contributed to nation building in the context of recognition and unification of the community by offering an evolutionary view of its society. • 12. The Magic Flute Analysis The recitative tells the story and the aria responds emotionally to what just happened. The recitative refers to song speech. It is derived from the Italian verb meaning to recite and its purpose is to portray the quality of speech. The no. 4 recitative of The Magic Flute is where we are introduced to the Queen of the Night. The recitative is in the key of B flat major and continues the Allegro maestoso tempo marking of the entrance music. It starts with a syncopated accompaniment figure which is useful in creating a disturbed and restless mood, making listeners wary of the Queen of the Night. Mozart adopts secco accompagnato, an old style from the Baroque operas. However, Mozart did not entirely utilise the Baroque opera styles and structures. Baroque arias were characteristically in the ternary form, which was a reason for their downfall as the music did not move with a strong sense of direction it always ends where it started, which stopped the progress. Mozart changed it in a number of ways. He used the orchestra as a filling more complex than in earlier music, and a way for mood setting, which is a crucial difference compared to before. When the Queen of the night starts to sing, dry chords are played in the orchestra to keep the singer in tune and also emphasise certain words. The secco accompaniment brings the music to modulate to the relative G minor. This leads into the aria. The aria is kind of in binary form, however it is not exactly binary as the two parts are not related. The first part starts in G minor in Larghetto and shows us the introverted, worried and anxious side of the Queen as she remembers the horror of her daughter s kidnapping. The second part of the aria is back to B flat major and is in Allegro moderato. This part portrays her bossy and commanding personality as she orders Tamino to rescue her daughter. This aria would be more appropriately classified as through composed as the music follows the text. The Queen of the Night attempts to create a firm image of herself, but the music betrays her. It shows her lack of control. The very rapid shifting between emotions suggests that she is fickle and shows that her façade is extremely shallow. In the recitative, Mozart uses a ... • 14. The Theory Of Mind ( Tom ) Theory of mind (ToM) is the ability to differentiate one s own mental state from others and therefore, influence the behaviour accordingly. Mental states comprise of the individual s desires, beliefs and intentions. ToM is considered to be a milestone in psychosocial development as pre schoolers at the age of 4 or 5 tend to be able to recognise that not everyone perceive the same reality as they do (Wellman, Cross Watson, 2001). This is known as false belief and is an important skill in comprehending and predicting people s emotions and actions to construct a meaningful relationship. Many have argued that ToM coincides with language acquisition providing a mechanism to apprehend mental states within one s cognition (Karmiloff Smith, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Moreover, a cochlear implant can improve a hearing impaired child s communication skills, which benefits social functioning, but still lag considerably behind in ToM compared to normally hearing peers. The outcomes of a delayed ToM do not occur in a particular order nor should they be considered as distinct features. Rather, the consequences are intertwined whereby one particular aspect can affect the other. For a deaf child, their natural language is signing (Mayer Leigh, 2010). Auslan or other variations of signing is instinctive to a deaf individual because it is the language that they can form coherent sentences and explicit semantics to engage in a discourse. Although language is predominately symbols rather than verbal or written compared to a deaf child s normally hearing peers, it still allows the child to apprehend mental states in their cognition and conceive others around. Therefore, studies have shown that these children can do just as well, or even better, on false belief tests than hearing children (Marschark Clark, 1998). In other words, despite being diagnosed as deaf or hard of hearing, native signers typically show no delayed ToM and the implication is higher control of behaviours, or executive functioning, and ... • 15. Pit Bulls Pros And Cons All creatures of the animal kingdom have an aggressive, cunning facet to them. To endure in a more savage world than exists today, animals and humans had to perfect their abilities to survive in environments filled with competitor and enemy species. Adaptation entailed mastering a combination of skills such as foraging, swimming, stalking, hunting, and killing. Today s tail wagging companions were the first wild creatures to be domesticated. Through the process of domestication, which demands taming and selection for docility, the ancestral wolf, Canis lupus, was transformed into the dog known today. The media, whether it is reporting on a political campaign or a celebrity s latest fashion choice, has a strong influence on the opinions formed by the American public. Many people do not take the time to research and read studies on what they see in the news. The American Veterinary Association has recommended keeping in mind that in contrast to what has been reported in the news, data cannot be used to make conclusions about breed specific threats (Sacks et al., 2000). Breed discrimination is unfounded because studies have shown that Pit Bulls are not the most aggressive dogs. The American Veterinary Society for Animal Behavior reported in their Position Statement on Breed Specific Legislation (2014) that Jack Russell Terriers, Labrador Retrievers and Golden Retrievers were the breeds most commonly referred for aggression. In 1982, Pinckney and Kennedy found that in a study of 73 fatal dog attacks throughout the United States only six of them were attributed to the Bullterrier whereas 16 were accredited to German Shepherds. Interestingly, these other dogs do not get as much mass media attention as the Pit Bull. Following the logic of banning the most dangerous dogs, Golden Retrievers and German Shepherds should also be heavily regulated, however, they are not. This could be due to the larger musculature and general imposing physical presence of Pit Bulls when compared to the fluffier Golden Retrievers. Through the development of brainstorming and studying my professional experience, I have established in a set of values that are very essential in public administration. In order to succeed successfully at an organizational and personal level in the public administration, these values must be trained on a daily basis. To exercise transparency in public administration is to certify peoples the accessibility of data which is thought public. This has to be a business objective, and is to be taken into explanation when showing all public industries irrespective of one s job title. If the objective of a business is to help the citizens to the greatest of their capability, then failing or avoiding achieving transparency would affect major harm to the connection between them and the citizen they are aiming to help. Recently many people are discussing the idea of lifting the ban and giving females the ability to fight in the front lines while the other party believes that women should not. This ban was stated in 1994 when the Pentagon restricted women from artillery, armor, infantry and other combat roles. In recent years, women had found themselves in combat in Iraq and Afghanistan and according to the Pentagon, hundreds of thousands of these women have been deployed in those conflicts (NYTIMESBANLIFT). One major benefit of lifting the ban will be the amount of jobs that will be created. This will allow a boost in job openings in the army. No matter how strong you are, the only thing that matters is the will to fight and to protect the nation. Reasons to not allow women on the front lines The British military determined that 1 in 100 trained female soldiers ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Now, in the movie Baymax saves the world and helps people with holograms of their medical history. When activated, Baymax will do a full body scan and show the patient, through a hologram, their current medical condition. Baymax may be considered only a fictional character and not a possible reality, but a professor at Carnegie Mellon is working to make a real life Baymax (Szondy 1). According to the World Health Organization, cancer is the fifth leading cause of death (WHO 1). 12.7 million people discover they have cancer annually and 7.6 million die from it (Huffington Post 1). Those numbers are not a total from throughout time; those are annual. Analysis Of Joseph Miller s Slaving As Historical Process In his work, Slaving as Historical Process: Examples from the Ancient Mediterranean and the Modern Atlantic, Joseph Miller proposes that slavery is a byproduct arising from specifiable tensions within larger and more complex historical processes. However, I would continue this argument by adding those processes are often rooted in a society s attempt to propel itself to economically and culturally flourish, often at the expense of human beings. Furthermore, while there are recurring patterns of enslavement in these societies, the specific context and degree that each slave system was implemented in affects the conditions, justification, and abolition of enslavement in Ancient Rome, Nineteenth Century American South, and contemporary Dubai. Ancient Rome spanned from 753 B.C to 476 A.D. While there is no single historical context that led to the use of slaves, the constant expansion of the empire led to both the demand and supply of labor. Thus, slaves became the backbone of the Ancient Roman Empire. Making up one third of the population during the reign of Trajan, 98 A.D 117 A.D., they enhanced Rome both economically and culturally. When the military would take over an area they would sell the inhabitants to Roman citizens and make a profit for the state. This constant influx of free labor allowed ... Managerial Accounting Is A Discipline Within The Accounting Managerial accounting is a discipline within the accounting community that focuses on providing valuable information to the leaders of their organization. The importance of the community relies on its ability to provide information that is not readily found in traditional financial statements developed in the accounting department for reporting to outside agencies. ABC provides a path to assign the overhead to the product requiring the overhead. In the above scenario, 75% of the production efforts are for product A, so 75% of the overhead can be assigned to product A. Activity based costing attempts to overcome the perceived deficiencies in traditional costing methods by more closely aligning activities with products. This requires abandoning the traditional division between product and period costs, instead seeking to find a more direct linkage between activities, costs, and products (Walther, 2010). ABC is very beneficial to organizations that produce many products. ABC applies all costs (direct and indirect) to a product s cost. To apply the principles of ABC, and organization must first gather all of the available cost information for the organization. Once this is complete, the organization must identify activities. This is an important step because too many activities will become too large an undertaking to manage while too few will not yield the desired results. Once the activities are identified, the organization must identify traceable costs. These are costs that can be directly related to a product. At this point, one must assign the remaining costs. These are costs, such as janitorial services that cannot be tied to a specific product. Once all costs are assigned, the organization must determine the per activity allocation rates. For instance, if it costs a company $10,000 to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Darwin hesitated to publish his findings because he understood that his findings were based on the animal kingdom and on an evolutionary process that had to have spanned millennia. He specifically did not think that his discoveries were applicable to the evolution of human society. Spencer died December 8, 1903 while working on his autobiography, which was then published in 1904. Through his anti clerical and rejectionist upbringing, Spencer was raised to attach to a theory like Darwinian evolution. In his first published article on the development of Social Darwinism, entitled The Development Hypothesis, 1852, Spencer established his lack of faith and claimed that creationism was a theory which is supported by no facts at all. He further elaborated on the issue and asserted that there must be another mode by which the world was created. He even went as far as to write that, if he were to interrogate any leading geologist or physiologists they would be forced to confess that the notion was put into his mind in childhood as part of a story which he now thinks is absurd. Spencer believed that creationism was not a viable medium on which to base scientific thought, and as a result, he was forced to find another way to explain the creation of the world. For this reason, he was drawn to evolutionary Darwinism. Spencer however, could not just accept Darwinian evolution as fact. Rather, he expanded the theory of Darwinian evolution to meet his own ... Combating Childhood Obesity And Its Effects Combatting Childhood Obesity Tanema Foster University of Missouri Kansas City May 4, 2016 In today s society it is easy to get caught up into living a sedentary and unhealthy lifestyle. With new technologies, social media, etc, people are choosing to opt out of doing much active work and are choosing to do things from the comfort of their own bed or couch. Many people choose to enjoy the luxuries of online shopping, banking, mail, socializing, ordering food, games, and even dating! Additionally, United States citizens have fully embraced the fast food industry for some of the same reasons. It s much easier and cheaper than buying groceries all of the time, so many families have adapted fast food to be the default choice for their everyday meals. Much of fast food is very unhealthy; full of saturated fat and sugars that can induce fatal diseases and illnesses. So although we are advancing as a nation when it comes to conventional living and technology, we are also seeing a dramatic decline in the amount of people who are living and leading healthy lifestyles and thus an increase in obesity.
