Lean Production Delivery System Essay
The term lean production came about to describe the Toyota production system in the late 1980 s. This
came to pass through a research group from MIT who over five years analysed the automotive
industry in fourteen countries. It was called lean manufacturing rather than the Toyota production
system to make it easier for competitors and organizations to adopt this type of system.
The concept of lean production in a manufacturing organization basically means to try and maximise
the use of materials to achieve optimum customer value and at the same time reducing waste and
ensuring the same standard of quality in the finished product. Reducing the resources means it will
cheaper for the organization to create the product plus also for the ... Show more content on

* Takt time The rate of production is aligned with the customer need.
* Error proofing Error detection to reduce defects
* Kaizen Having employees together to improve the manufacturing process.
* Just in time Most effective way of reducing inventory levels as it creates products based on customer
demands.
* Policy deployment Focuses on having good communications through the whole structure of the
organization.
Through this concept of lean to reduce waste and the many tools of lean production there are plenty of
advantages to observe such as:
* It can reduce overhead fixed cost to 30%
* It reduces the operational cost within an organization
* It can also raise the competiveness of a manufacturing organization
* It is also believed that the implementation of lean can reduce the manufacturing time
* It can also increase profit especially at the start and then helps maintain these earnings
* Plus as we know it can cut nearly all types of waste
* Since the manufacturing lead time is reduced it has a knock on effect that reduces energy costs
* Implementing lean has a keen view of making the workspace as efficient as possible which is a
primary factor in keeping the organization running effectively
* The required workspace is also reduced
* Productivity in a manufacturing organization can be increased as much as 80%
* Customer relations improvements means again reduced waste
* Frustration on the job is reduced

CASE STUDY #2 DARDEN RESTAURANTS, INC. TRANSACTIONS AND ADJUSTMENTS
Concepts
a. To prepare accrual based financial statements, a company must adjust its accounts. This is
accomplished with periodic adjustments (also known as adjusting journal entries or accounting
adjustments). For each account below, explain the types of transactions or events that necessitate
periodic adjustments to the account for the typical company.
i. Inventories, net. If a company purchases products to be resold, there is an adjustment on the balance
sheet to reflect this net inventory.
ii. Receivables, net. If a company sells a product on credit, they do not receive cash, and thus although

b. In general, what other accounts typically require periodic adjustments? In general, the other
accounts that typically require periodic adjustments are prepaid expenses, accrued expenses, and
accrued revenues.
c. Why do companies close their books at the end of each accounting period? What types of accounts
are close in this process?
Companies close their books at the end of each accounting period in order to transfer the balance in
temporary accounts into retained earnings. The closing process brings the retained earnings account up
to date so that it accurately reflects the current period s income statement activity and dividends so
that the balance sheet can be prepared. The types of accounts that are closed in the process are all the
income statement accounts and any dividend account.

Car Rental Industry Elasticity
The rental car industries as well as other industries within the travel market are challenged with
developing a pricing strategy that will maximize profits for the firm. In our analysis of three firms,
Hertz, Avis and Budget, our team used qualitative and quantitative methods to develop an
understanding of their pricing strategies. We wanted to determine which company has the best overall
pricing strategy. Furthermore, these methods helped us develop recommendations involving
segmentation and brand differentiation that will help these rental car companies insure greater
profitability through pricing that will minimize consumer surplus. Our examination of the three rental
car companies and their pricing strategies begins with industry and ... Show more content on

Budget and Avis are both subsidiaries of Cendant Corp. who bought both companies separately.
Although both Avis and Budget were part of Cendant by the end of the year 2002 they operate as
separate companies and maintain distinct brand identities. Avis positions itself as a business friendly
rental car company while Budget tries to own the leisure segment. The two brands together operate
over 6,000 outlets in the Americas, Australia, New Zealand and the Caribbean. Each rental car
company maintains separate advertising campaigns, websites and counters, while combining some
back office operations to reduce costs. Hertz was a wholly owned subsidiary of the Ford Motor
Company until it was sold in September 2005 to a private equity firm for $15 billion. Hertz dominates
the airport rental car market, operating approximately 350 sites in the United States. The company
offers customers high quality vehicles and premium service. It derives the bulk of its sales and profits
from rentals in the United States. It considers Avis to be a key competitor. Hertz offers its customers
several key features including the low cost Hertz #1 Club Gold program which provides an expedited
rental service to members worldwide. Also, Hertz offers a Prestige Collection brand, which offers
customers the opportunity to rent from a pool of high end performance cars, including Jaguar, Land
Rover, Lincoln and Volvo.

Aletta s Appointment As The Grand Vigil
The pinnacle of Aletta s narrative was set in motion upon concluding her bootlegged Viridian training

upheaval of magic to Regalia, and laid down the fundamental bricks of what would later become the
Azure Order. The organization was viewed by spectators as one of necessity, duly to the sum of

the duration of Aletta s appointment as the Grand Vigil people had disputed whether a woman could

Today, 18 different Hmong clan names are still passed down from generation to generation. Hmong
clan names are equivalent to American last names. First names identify people and last names identify
clans. The 18 clans provide life time membership and ongoing material and spiritual support to their
members from birth to death. Newborns are given the father s clan name, which they cannot change.
For that reason, Hmong women retain their clan name when they get married (Moua, 1995). The
foundation of Hmong life is marriage and family (Millett, 2002). An ancient ritual requires the groom
to pay a bride price, a negotiated sum of money paid to the bride s parents. Hmong newlyweds live
with the husband s parents until they have two or more children. However, Hmong culture expects the
last born married son, his wife, and children to permanently live with, support, and care for his parents
and grandparents until their death. Unfortunately, time honored Hmong traditions are challenged by
American culture. For example, there is conflict between Hmong Christians and Hmong Animists.
Animists sacrifice animals to worship spirits; they believe that all living things have spirits (Brittan,
1997). Hmong Christians worship God and condemn animal sacrifice. As a result, Christianity altered
traditional Hmong rituals and ceremonies. For instance, Christianity eliminated the payment of a bride
price

pGlo Transformation Lab Report
I Introduction
The purpose of this experiment was to show the genetic transformation of E. coli bacteria with a
plasmid that codes for Green Fluorescent Protein (GFP) and contains a gene regulatory system that
confers ampicillin resistance. A plasmid is a genetic structure in a cell that can replicate independently
of chromosomes. In this lab, the Green Fluorescent Protein, which is typically found in the
bioluminescent jellyfish Aequorea Victoria, was cloned, purified, and moved from one organism to
another with the use of pGlo plasmids. It was hypothesized that if bacteria that were transformed with
+pGlo plasmids are given the gene for GFP, then transformed cell colonies ... Show more content on

Next, the transformation efficiency was calculated by dividing the total amount of DNA on the agar
plate in μl by the number of cells growing on the +pGLO LB/amp/ara plate.
During the purification section of this lab, the LB/amp/ara agar plate was examined for well isolated
green colonies and the LB/amp plate was observed for white colonies with space between each other.
These colonies were circled on the outside of the plates using a marker. Next, two 15 milliliter culture
tubes containing 2 milliliters of nutrient growth media were obtained and labeled + and . Using a new
inoculation tube, the circled colonies from each plate were scooped out and immersed in their
respective culture tubes. Once the bacteria was mixed into the solution, the tubes were sealed and
placed horizontally into the 32⁰ incubator for 24 hours.
After labeling a new microtube with a marker, the culture tubes were removed from the incubator and
observed under the ultraviolet lamp. Using a sterile pipette, the contents of the (+) culture tube were
transferred to the 2 milliliter mictrotube and the ( ) culture tube was disposed of. The (+) tube was
then spun in the centrifuge at maximum speed for 5 minutes. Once it was removed from the
centrifuge, a noticeable bacterial pellet had formed at the bottom of the tube and the remaining liquid
was disposed of. After the

Going Forward Challenges
We inevitably need to Harness Our Competitive Advantages Going Forward.
As we focus on our approach towards conquering the challenges associated with the year 2017, we
may need to reflect on some lessons from the good book. Occasionally, I fall back to this book when
explaining some of the challenges that we keep encountering, as well as the requisite solutions.
One particular section describes the plight of a disabled man who needed to get cured. He kept going
to certain pools, which were believed to have curative qualities for those disabled and able to dive into
the pools, whenever the water was stirred. This disabled man had been going to the pools for a whole
38 years, but could never experience the desired healing. As soon as the water ... Show more content

The carnivores are obviously not attracted to watch the migration, the same way as the tourists who
flock from all corners of the globe. Rather, lions, hyenas, leopards and crocodiles amongst others are
attracted by the convenience of easily striking on their prey, without expending too much energy.
Similarly, we become victims of the forces of change when we disregard or ignore our personalized
orientations and end up doing the same things and in the same ways as everybody else. We choose to
learn the same things in school, and eventually pursue the same degrees. Thereafter, we conduct the
same businesses amongst numerous other inclinations. In other words, we tend to be guided by the
environment around us, as well as our peers, as we continue making fundamental choices in our lives.
Further, we tend to misinterpret the concept of benchmarking, which is a measurement of the quality
of our policies, products, programs and strategies amongst other attributes, especially when compared
with the standard measurements, or similar measurements of our peers. This applies to not only our
individual, but also organizational

Electronic Detection Systems Is High Rate Of False Alarms
As computer attacks are becoming more and more difficult to identify the need for better and more
efficient intrusion detection systems increases. The main problem with current intrusion detection
systems is high rate of false alarms. Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) attacks are large scale
cooperative attacks launched from a large number of compromised hosts called Zombies, Which are a
major threat to Internet services. Therefore, keeping this problem in view here presents various
significant areas where genetic algorithm techniques seem to be a strong technique for detecting and
preventing DDoS attack. Our purpose of this work is to examine how to integrate multiple intrusion
detection sensors in order to minimize the number of incorrect alarms.so a brief introduction to the
parameters and evolution process of a GA will be provided by this process and how to implement it in
real IDS.

My Behavior Traits Paper
An Overall Outlook at My Behavior Traits Timithy Crumrine
Indiana Wesleyan University
An Overall Outlook at My Behavior Traits Starting at the time I answered the questions in the DISC
profile, I could watch and predict the pattern that was playing out before my eyes. During the
introduction to each behavior profile, I could already tell which behavior best described me. Almost
every word that is listed under that heading is a word that I have, or would use to describe myself.
However, I did not know what the perception of others would be. In this paper, I will attempt to show
the similarities and differences between the behaviors that I have described and those of my friends,
family, and coworkers. Although many people claim to be the same person in all settings, in this
instance, I have the research to back up my claim. As always, the change in all settings of my life are
minute.
In my own assessment, I have found that even though you may answer sections differently with
differing moods, I always come back as a D behavior style. I am that classic, controlled person when I
am in control. However, I can be the exact opposite if we get off track and things start to unwind.
After completing the task of transferring numbers into the graph, the DISC Classic workbook, my
behavior is summed up in the Interpretation Stage I description ... Show more content on

The Age Of Enlightenment In Patrick Suskind s Historical...
Suskind uses literary historical details to narrate the story of a self obsessed man, who commits
horrendous crimes to achieve his objective. In the narration, Suskind carefully crafts the historical
importance of the Age of Enlightenment. That was an important period in European History because,
the age of Enlightenment encouraged Europeans to shift away from the religious based understanding
of the universe. Suskind wrote Perfume when rational thinking superseded the common perception
about the religious side. My discussion on the literary historical details will primarily focus on
Suskind s portrayal of a self obsessed man in 18th century Paris with reference to the age of
Enlightenment.

The spirit of human generosity repulsed him so much that he did not hesitate to enjoy killing women
one after another. Grenouille s sensibility and addiction in a way reconstructs a different perception
about the age of Enlightenment. Grenouille s lack of scent is not just lack of a body odor, but also the
lack of morals, because a reader can see that Grenouille is someone who has the physical
characteristics of a man but without the substance that fully establishes one as a human being. The
sense of smell itself is always a way in which a person s soul is identified, without the ability to smell
or produce a body odor, one cannot detect the soul of a person. [3] A good sense of smell is relatable
to human generosity, warmth and passion, Suskind writes about Gaillard, For good all sense of smell
and every sense of human warmth and human coldness, indeed every human passion. Without that one
blow, tenderness had become as foreign to her has enmity. Joy as strange as despair . Thus, Grenouille
s obsession for producing the perfect smell can be interpreted not only a form of self gratification but
also creating a soul for himself because when he kills his victims he extracts their body odor, thus
extracting their essence and rendering them soulless. In so doing, Grenouille in fact gruesomely acts
against the very principles of the age of Enlightenment, and thus an antithesis of the human spirit of
warmth, sensibility and humanity at large. Grenouille shows a conflicting personality because even
though he lacks body odor, he feels that his inner most being is wonderful. While describing
Grenouille, Suskind writes, He wanted to empty himself of his inner most being, of nothing less than
his inner most being, which he considered more wonderful than anything the world had to offer . This
shows Grenouille really believed in the superiority of his intelligence and his inner

History is full of powerful women who ruled over lands and won wars to protect their kingdom just

The Rebirth Of Ancient Cultures

The Rebirth of Ancient Cultures in Renaissance Florence Florence, Italy is known as the cradle of the
Renaissance (la culla del Rinascimento). It is a city full of beautiful architecture, art, and history. The
Renaissance was a powerful cultural movement that not only shaped all aspects of Florentine life, but
eventually the rest of Europe. Science, art, literature, philosophy, religion, architecture, and politics
have seen heavy influences by this movement. The term Renaissance literally means rebirth : the
rebirth of man and the rebirth of two important ancient cultures, Greek and Roman, which had been
lost with the beginning of the Middle Ages in Western history. Florence was very prosperous during
the late Middle Ages, next to Venice and Milan. It was the birthplace of many important thinkers,
artists, architects, and political figures who led the Renaissance. Along with the birth of the
philosophy of humanism, the rebirth of ancient Greek and Roman cultures were driven by a revived
interest in ancient thought, the advances in literature, the emphasis of human based ideals in the arts,
and the influence of the papacy and the Holy Roman Empire upon the Florentine government. Italian
thinkers had an interest in the ways that ancient Greeks and Romans thought, a driving force of the
Renaissance. It was the Florentines who first set out to rediscover the glorious past of these cultures.

Cerebral palsy is a neurological disorder that affects the body s movements, balance, and position
(CDC, 2015). The condition can affect parts or the entire body, and it can impair motor function from
assisted walking, to the use of a wheelchair (McMahon, Pruitt, Vargus Adams, 2009). Due to the
variations in the condition, it is difficult to find a set treatment plan, so often cerebral palsy patients
undergo various therapy programs, in order to find one that produces the greatest outcome. Currently,
forms of therapy such as chiropractic, massage, and stretching are used in conjunction with regular

We do believe that modified suit therapy can be an effective therapy treatment; however, due to the
lack of research conducted, we cannot confirm the hypothesis. Due to the physical and neurological
aspects of suit therapy, it is more beneficial than traditional therapy techniques such as chiropractic
and massage therapy. This is important, because it is always favorable when we make positive
breakthroughs in the medical field. At the end of the day, if this treatment is helping patients manage
cerebral palsy better, it will be more likely for physical and occupational therapists to pick it up and
use it during treatment sessions. The case study articles by Rosenbaum (2003) and Ko, Lee, Kang, and

benefits that can come along with using it. The article by Anne Turner was also good to read, because
it helped remind us that even though suit therapy seems like a great idea, there are many unanswered
questions surrounding this this therapy. Suit therapy does have a lot of potential to benefit many
children with cerebral palsy. Overall, there has been limited research conducted on this topic, and

Thesis on Infant Mortality

Chapter 1
INTRODUCTION
Children are vital to the nation s present and its future. Parents, grandparents, aunts, and uncles are
usually committed to providing every advantage possible to the children in their families, and to
ensuring that they are healthy and have the opportunities that they need to fulfill their potential. Yet
communities vary considerably in their commitment to the collective health of children and in the
resources that they make available to meet children s needs. This is reflected in the ways in which
communities address their collective commitment to children, specifically to their health. In recent
years, there has been an increased focus on issues that affect children and on improving their health. ...

was 1.3 times higher than in male infants. Discrimination, which may lead to increased mortality
among female children, has been the subject of many previous studies. The World Health Organization

The human society even having acknowledged this universal truth has been continuously trying to

The Psychological Impacts Of African Imperialism In Africa
The psychological impact of the introduction of European culture is reflected in the way Africans
illustrated themselves in stories while concurrently portraying the acuteness of the imperialism
situation. The concept of social Darwinism swept the 19th century world with the theory that some
peoples were naturally superior to others. Factors such as race, wealth, property, and so on were
supposedly directly correlated to superiority over others. This concept was concocted mainly to justify
the colonial takeover of lesser nations and to reinforce European supremacy. ( Social Darwinism ) An
example of this idea is Routledge s scorn toward Africans and their culture. This demeanor had a large
psychological impact on the colonized Africans. In Song of Lawino; A Lament, Ocol scorns his own
people by saying, Black People are Primitive. Ocol is completely convinced his race is backward,
imbecilic and corrupt. (Clark 41) Clearly, the psychological impact of European treatment towards
Africans altered the way Africans thought about themselves. If Lawino is seen as an example of
African pride before imperialism, surly Ocol demonstrates the effect of the mental coercion and
acceptance of European superiority that imperialism brought. To combat this idea of inferiority, many
African authors warned against the dangers of believing imperialists. Ghanaian James Aggrey wrote
The Parable of the Eagle in response to the change in perspective. The parable tells of a man who

The potato famine in 1844 is a very large piece of Irish history, and it left more than a million people
dead from starvation and disease (Dorothy Denneen Volo 2018). This caused the Irish diaspora, and as
they moved to England the Irish brought with them the broadside ballad tradition that thrived in
England and Ireland in the mid 19th century , which was songs about sailors and soldiers, merchants
and innkeepers that reflected the newly industrialized British Isles (Cohen, Norm, Kevin S. Fontenot,
Steven Loza, Richard March, Paul F. Wells and Maria Williams 2018). This left an impact, and now
Irish musical styles can be found in many English ballad tunes. This isn t however, a form of
traditional Irish folk music, actually much of the Irish music known in America in the late 18th and
early 19th centuries was music that had roots in oral tradition, but which had been processed by
classically trained composers and arrangers (Norm Cohen 2014). The Irish weren t fully accepted in
England and were discriminated against, and when the English passed laws forbidding the Irish to
speak their own language, they turned to music to help them remember important events and hold on
to their heritage (Dorothy Denneen Volo 2018). Today, that discrimination is gone, and Ireland gained
their independence in 1922. Now, Ireland s finest musicians play

Albert Bandura s Social Psychology
Although the study of psychology has been going on for centuries, many of the first psychologists
have done their work in the field, and passed. There are many people who thrive and are in awe of the
work done by the previous psychologists that these people have decided to dedicate their life in this
study, and continue learning how the human mind works. After looking into many modern day
psychologist, I chose Albert Bandura, who studies social psychology. Social psychology deals with
social interactions, including its origins and the effects on the individual. Some previous psychologists
who have studied social psychology would be Phillip Zambardo and B.F Skinner. Albert Bandura has
devoted his life to the study of psychology. Although ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

finishing high school, Bandura worked for Yukon filling holes in the Alaskan Highway. Bandura had
noticed that most of the men he worked with had escaped from things in the world such as the draft
board and even probation officers. This was when he had noticed that there are so many different
characteristics of people in the world which made him interested in the psychopathology of life. Right
after working for Yukon, Bandura went onto the University of British Columbia in Vancouver.
Considering his only way to get to school was to commute with medical students who started the day

intended major was biology, but in the end, this one psychology class captivated his interests, so he
changed his major to psychology. In 1949, three years later, Bandura graduated with a psychology
degree. Being the top psychology student, he won the Bolocan Award in Psychology. Next in his
journey, Bandura went onto the University of Iowa for his graduate study of psychology. In 1952, he

Civil War Poetry Essay
Civil War Poetry The American Civil War and the Spanish Civil War were primarily wars of principle.
The conflicts represented a critical point for each respective nation, a time of either death or
continuation for the countries. Both Whitman and Neruda exibit a key shared element in the poets
works of the concept of a cosmic rebirth illustrated in their poetry through a celebration of the
perpetual cycle of life and death fostering optimism. This mutual philosophy is manifested in Neruda
and Whitman s poetry in several interesting ways. One of the most striking biographical parallels
between the two poets originates from their direct involvement in civil war. Whitman served as a

In the section Arrival in Madrid of the International Brigade Neruda shows the troops from the
international forces arriving in the desolate city of Madrid. This section mirrors Whitman s Drum Taps
section of poetry Eighteen Sixty One which also focuses on the war as it is reaching a critical point of
expansion. Centered on the time of most profound national crisis, the poets use the image of gathering
soldiers to validate their cause. The solider becomes the embodiment of the poets war philosophies of
reconstruction out of destruction. Neruda and Whitman concentrate on the soldier s sacrifice as
requisite for societal salvation.
Each poem reflects the desolation resulting from the beginning stages of the conflict and subsequently
presents the gathering soldiers as a reason for hope. The sections begin submerged in the bleak
solemnity of the turmoil of war. This represents a shift from the booming patriotism in the proceeding
section in Drum Taps. Whitman s speaker shifts to a grave tone, lamenting the Arm d year year of

year is replete with the profound disintegration of societal structures as the order of the United States
is destroyed. The gravity presented in Eighteen Sixty One assumes a physical manifestation in Arrival

Yakima Case Study
In order to duplicate Angela Whitiker s success and increase mobility for the people of Yakima we
have to overcome the human capital, as describe by David Brooks. In order to do this, we should Give
the first generation policies access to schools, colleges and training facilities. Then the second
generation policies will help them develop the habits, knowledge and metal traits they need to succeed
as suggested by Brooks. In Yakima we could increase the amount of Government aid to send first
generations policies to school. Then the program could follow the second generation policies by
investing in them as well. Investing into a programs that helps people complete college, schools, or
training programs is a great idea to see them move up the ladder. Such aid can be useful for people
wanting to better them self s. There will be regulations to the program for people how make their way

Bayesian Learning Essay examples
BAYESIAN LEARNING
Abstract
Uncertainty has presented a difficult obstacle in artificial intelligence. Bayesian learning outlines a
mathematically solid method for dealing with uncertainty based upon Bayes Theorem. The theory
establishes a means for calculating the probability an event will occur in the future given some
evidence based upon prior occurrences of the event and the posterior probability that the evidence will
predict the event. Its use in artificial intelligence has been met with success in a number of research
areas and applications including the development of cognitive models and neural networks. At the
same time, the theory has been criticized for being philosophically unrealistic and logistically
inefficient. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They allow intelligent systems flexibility and a logical way to update their database of knowledge.
The appeal of probability theories in AI lies in the way they express the qualitative relationship among
beliefs and can process these relationships to draw conclusions (Pearl, 1988).
One of the most formalized probabilistic theories used in AI relates to Bayes theorem. Bayesian
methods have been used for a variety of AI applications across many disciplines including cognitive
modeling, medical diagnosis, learning causal networks, and finance.
Two years after his death, in 1763, Rev. Thomas Bayes Essay Toward solving a Problem in the
Doctrine of Chances was published. Bayes is regarded as the first to use probability inductively and
established a mathematical basis for probability inference which he outlined in this now famous paper.
The idea behind Bayes method is simple; the probability that an event will occur in future trials can be
calculated from the frequency with which it has occurred in prior trails. Let s consider some everyday
knowledge to outline Bayes rule: where there s smoke, there s fire. We use this everyday cliche to
suggest cause and effect. But how are such relationships learned in and from everyday experience?
Conditional probability provides a way to estimate the likelihood of some outcome given a particular
situation. Bayes theorem further refines this idea by incorporating

Waiting For Guffman
These past two weeks, while the theatre has been relatively calm, I chose three different pieces of

director, Corky St. Clair, and the amateur cast of a corny small town musical production go overboard

It is tough to not be your biggest critic, but it is better to leave that job to others. Also, actors should
treat auditions like rehearsals, as if you already have the role and are going to rehearsal. Apparently
this is a commonly used tactic that many actors use to keep calm in an audition setting. Another tip
was that if you risk failure, you can make truthful discoveries about yourself or a character. Failures
become the struggles that lead to success; the word, failure, carries more weight than it should, and
most failures are actually setbacks. The only time you truly fail is when you quit because you become
incapable of success. The final piece of advice that I found helpful was to find other creative outlets.
In a field like acting, the majority of the job is going to auditions and waiting. Therefore, it becomes
imperative that you find ways to use your creativity, rather than waiting around for someone to give
you a part. Writing your own material can showcase yourself well, especially if you do not have
representation. It is ok to get a little lost, to ask yourself deep questions, and to not have all the
answers. What matters most is that you never lose sight of your

Computer Input Technologies By Alan Turing
Computer Input Technologies
Introduction The interaction between humans and the machine is a relatively new science. When
considering how the inputs to a computer started out, it is interesting to observe just how little has
changed. For example, the QWERTY keyboard as part of the typewriter invented in the 1870s(2) far
predates the concept of the modern digital computer as described by Alan Turing in 1936(3). Our tools
to interact with our own machines have however been refined to be more convenient for the average
user with interfaces such as optimised USB and layout studied for ergonomy. In recent years, input
technologies have not only been improved but brand new ones have emerged like motion control for
example. The future is bright ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Furthermore, trackballs are still quite common as scrollwheels in computer mouse devices.
Interestingly, the invention of the computer ball mouse in 1968 sprang directly from the invention of
the trackball. In a sense, the ball mouse is a reversed version of the same device. The trackball rolls on
the surface instead of the user s hands, however the tracking operates in the same way(1). This
innovation in existing technology meant that the handheld type design would later be upgraded as
newer technologies took its place. Today, the ball mouse has been largely replaced by the optical and
laser mouse. These types of mouse devices use LEDs to emit light onto the surface on which it sits,
the reflected light is analysed by a set of photodiodes. Whether the mouse is laser or not depends on if
the LEDs emit coherent light (laser) or not (optical). The main drawback of the optical mouse is that
they only function on opaque and matte surfaces as they depend on the light reflecting the surfaces
imperfections. The precision however is much improved from the ball mouse. Furthermore, less
moving parts means more durability. The mouse really opened up the horizon for user interface
navigation making it a key turning point in the history of input technologies.

Essay on Determination of an Equilibrium Constant
Determination of an Equilibrium Constant
Abstract: In this experiment, two reactions were run to determine the molar absorptivity and the
equilibrium constant of FeSCN2+. The main principles used in this lab are equilibrium, LeChatlier s
Principle, Beer s Law and Spectrocopy. The first reaction was run to completion using LeChatier s
Principle and the second reaction was run to equilibrium. A spectrophotometer was used to measure
absorbances. Using a graph of absorbance versus concentration of FeSCN2+ was used to determine
that the molar absorptivity constant was 3670. Beer s Law was used to determine that the average
equilibrium constant was 33.1793.

The Supplemental Nutrition Program For Women
The Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) was started in 1972,
and was permanently established in 1974 by the USDA (WIC Fact Sheet, 2015; Brown, 2011). WIC
was established to safeguard the health of women, infants, and children up to age five who are low
income and at nutritional risk; their mission is carried out by means of supplementing diets by
providing access to nutritious foods, nutrition education, breastfeeding education, breastfeeding
promotion, breastfeeding support, and referrals to health and other social service agencies (WIC Fact
Sheet, 2015). WIC is one of the most successful nutrition programs in the United States that is
federally funded; it has served approximately 5.7 million children and 1.8 million women in fiscal
years 2001 2003 (Brown, 2011). WIC is not an entitlement program as Congress does not set aside
funds to allow every eligible individual to participate in the program. WIC is a Federal grant program
for which Congress authorizes a specific amount of funds each year for the program. (WIC at a
Glance, 2015, p. 1). WIC is directed by the Food and Nutrition Service at the Federal level and run by
90 WIC state agencies that operates through 1,900 local agencies in 10,000 clinic sites, in 50 State
health departments, 34 Indian Tribal Organizations, the District of Columbia, Northern Mariana,

The Seafarer by Burton Raffel was written during the Anglo Saxon period where the Anglo Saxon
warriors lived to defend their King, like in the story Sir Gawain and The Green Knight. One of the
warriors speaks about his challenges and begins saying that his story is not at all joyful. It is a story
full of pain and suffering. The story paints a picture of what it means to be dislocated , set out , all by
oneself and how badly it feels. My feet were cast in icy bands, bound with frost, with frozen chains,
and hardship groaned around my heart. Hunger tore at my sea weary soul. No man sheltered on the

It was two years ago, in Australia. My parents, my sisters and I were visiting the country in camping
car, and we had decided to go on an excursion in a rainforest. The weather was enjoyable, there were a
couple of clouds in the sky, just enough to make the heat bearable. We had walked in many other
forests, but only in other countries. Me and my sisters were very excited to walk through our first
Australian rainforest. If we had known what was awaiting us there we would have certainly not
chosen to go at all. That day would teach us to never walk in an Australian rain forest unless you are
sure, and absolutely certain about the weather.

Dad, she said in a scared voice what is this, it won t come off me! . As the words came out of her
mouth, we all realized what it was. It was a leech. Now everything didn t seem so funny at all.
Understanding that my little sister screamed Mom! I have some on my leg! We were all panicking, we
did not know how to get them off. My mother then had a really great idea :
I know what to do she stated.
What asked my two sisters in unison.
I know that salt repels leeches, and I also know there is salt in the mosquito repellent, so we should try
and spray the repellent on the leeches and see if that works. She answered.
Do it on me first! Screamed my two sisters, eager to get these disgusting blood suckers off their skin.
After testing the repellent on a leech on my father s leg, the worm detached from our skin in a
spasmodic movement of what looked like pain. And so, quickly and effectively we started to get rid of
the leeches. Everyone had some on their skin, except me. I was glad I had taken what I thought had
been a piece of dirt off my leg, because there was no doubt now, that it was a leech.
Once we were sure that all of them were gone, we started thinking about how these worms got into
our clothes when we were walking, and instantly we knew: it was the rain. The leeches must have
been on branches and trees, and feeling our presence, have let themselves drop on us alongside the
drops of water. That thought in mind we went back to the camping car

All Summer In A Day Mood
In the story, All Summer in a day, by Ray Bradbury, the setting helps develop the mood of sadness,
and depression. The author does this by making the setting dark and stormy everyday on venus. The
setting makes the story gloomy at first, but when the sun comes out for one hour, it makes the reader
hopeful, but the main character missed the sun. That makes the reader s mood depressed and sad. The
text states, It had been raining for seven years; thousands upon thousands of days compounded and
filled from one end to the other with rain...(92) This explains that it is always raining on venus, and
the kids have yet to see the real sun, except for the main character, Margot. She has seen the sun when
she was little, and then was taken to mars.

Taking a Look at WESCAPE Development
The first subject that must be viewed before looking at the actual WESCAPE Development is the
demographics of Cape Town and further the Western Cape. The Western Cape is home to 5 822 734
million people; this would be approximately 11, 2 % (5 822 734 / 51 770 560) of the South Africa s
total population. Western Cape s population has grown from 3 956 875 in 2006 to 5 822 734 in 2011.
From 2006 till 2011, it is estimated that the Western Cape has received a net migration of 225 657 into
the province.
It is also been identified according to many demographic statistics that the Western Cape is one of the
main two provinces in which people move to. This clearly indicates how there is an influx of people
moving in to the Western Cape and how there is an increased demand of housing. It is also presumed
that the Western Cape will have a population growth rate of 2.6% .
In terms of the new WESCAPE Development, it must be asked if this project is another new type of
racial separating schemes, similar to the ones found in Apartheid. To determine the outcome of this
statement, the makeup of the Western Cape s population must be looked at in finer detail.
2011 Black Coloured Indian/Asain White Other
Western Cape 32.9 % 48.8 % 1.0 % 15.7 % 1.6 %
As displayed in the table above, the majority of the Western Cape s population is made up of Coloured
people. The reason we need to look at this topic is so it can give necessary evidence showing if this

##arison Of Creon In Sophocles Dante s Inferno
In Dante s Inferno, King Minos uses his power to condemn humans to hell based on their sins. King
Minos seeks to use his power wisely, but Creon, King of Thebes in Sophocles Antigone puts power
over family. Creon s self ambition is the driving force behind many of his ill fated decisions. For
example, this flaw of excess greed inspires Creon to commit crimes against his own niece and son that
result in a tragic ending for all involved. Thus, Sophocles Creon belongs in Circle Eight of Hell with
the Sowers of Discord.
First, King Minos defines each individual based upon their tragic flaw. This comes from Greek roots
because a fatal flaw is a weakness by the character that brings apart their downfall. 1 This is the first
step in passing judgement on Creon. Creon s tragic flaw is his pride and his over ambition. Creon
himself admits this, That is true.... It troubles me. Oh it is hard to give in! but it is worse to risk
everything for stubborn pride. 2 Pride is very dangerous because that leads to his over ambition.
Aristotle argues the need to have proper pride. When a person is in excess, they are too prideful and
their deficiency is that they are too short of humility.3 This excess in pride entices Creon to test out his
power, so once Creon gets hold of power, he is very unlikely to give it up. Creon s tragic flaw of pride
and over ambition led to his downfall and his place in hell.
Since Creon has a tragic flaw, he cannot be in Limbo with the Virtuous. In his Nicomachean

Federal Special Education Act Analysis
Part I: Important Laws Regarding Special Education in the United States
Federal special education Acts have progressed over time to insure that all children, including those
with disabilities, have equal access to education. (Hardman Dawson, 2008, p. 5) The factors that led to
these important federal Acts are varied, but the civil rights movement played a role in ensuring that
there were equal education opportunities for all children (Gargiulo, 2015, p. 42) (Hardman Dawson,
2008).
In 1975 the Education for all Handicapped Children Act (PL 94 142) was signed by President Gerald

This came to pass through a research group from MIT who over five years analysed the automotive industry in fourteen countries. It was called lean manufacturing rather than the Toyota production system to make it easier for competitors and organizations to adopt this type of system. The concept of lean production in a manufacturing organization basically means to try and maximise the use of materials to achieve optimum customer value and at the same time reducing waste and ensuring the same standard of quality in the finished product. Reducing the resources means it will cheaper for the organization to create the product plus also for the ... Hmong clan names are equivalent to American last names. First names identify people and last names identify clans. The 18 clans provide life time membership and ongoing material and spiritual support to their members from birth to death. Newborns are given the father s clan name, which they cannot change. For that reason, Hmong women retain their clan name when they get married (Moua, 1995). The foundation of Hmong life is marriage and family (Millett, 2002). An ancient ritual requires the groom to pay a bride price, a negotiated sum of money paid to the bride s parents. Hmong newlyweds live with the husband s parents until they have two or more children. However, Hmong culture expects the last born married son, his wife, and children to permanently live with, support, and care for his parents and grandparents until their death. Unfortunately, time honored Hmong traditions are challenged by American culture. For example, there is conflict between Hmong Christians and Hmong Animists. Animists sacrifice animals to worship spirits; they believe that all living things have spirits (Brittan, 1997). Hmong Christians worship God and condemn animal sacrifice. As a result, Christianity altered traditional Hmong rituals and ceremonies. For instance, Christianity eliminated the payment of a bride price ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Pglo Transformation Essay Connor Lauffenburger 3/17/13 pGlo Transformation Lab Report I Introduction The purpose of this experiment was to show the genetic transformation of E. coli bacteria with a plasmid that codes for Green Fluorescent Protein (GFP) and contains a gene regulatory system that confers ampicillin resistance. A plasmid is a genetic structure in a cell that can replicate independently of chromosomes. In this lab, the Green Fluorescent Protein, which is typically found in the bioluminescent jellyfish Aequorea Victoria, was cloned, purified, and moved from one organism to another with the use of pGlo plasmids. It was hypothesized that if bacteria that were transformed with +pGlo plasmids are given the gene for GFP, then transformed cell colonies ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Next, the transformation efficiency was calculated by dividing the total amount of DNA on the agar plate in μl by the number of cells growing on the +pGLO LB/amp/ara plate. During the purification section of this lab, the LB/amp/ara agar plate was examined for well isolated green colonies and the LB/amp plate was observed for white colonies with space between each other. These colonies were circled on the outside of the plates using a marker. Next, two 15 milliliter culture tubes containing 2 milliliters of nutrient growth media were obtained and labeled + and . Using a new inoculation tube, the circled colonies from each plate were scooped out and immersed in their respective culture tubes. Once the bacteria was mixed into the solution, the tubes were sealed and placed horizontally into the 32⁰ incubator for 24 hours. After labeling a new microtube with a marker, the culture tubes were removed from the incubator and observed under the ultraviolet lamp. Using a sterile pipette, the contents of the (+) culture tube were transferred to the 2 milliliter mictrotube and the ( ) culture tube was disposed of. The (+) tube was then spun in the centrifuge at maximum speed for 5 minutes. Once it was removed from the centrifuge, a noticeable bacterial pellet had formed at the bottom of the tube and the remaining liquid was disposed of. After the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

As we focus on our approach towards conquering the challenges associated with the year 2017, we may need to reflect on some lessons from the good book. Occasionally, I fall back to this book when explaining some of the challenges that we keep encountering, as well as the requisite solutions. One particular section describes the plight of a disabled man who needed to get cured. He kept going to certain pools, which were believed to have curative qualities for those disabled and able to dive into the pools, whenever the water was stirred. This disabled man had been going to the pools for a whole 38 years, but could never experience the desired healing. As soon as the water ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The carnivores are obviously not attracted to watch the migration, the same way as the tourists who flock from all corners of the globe. Rather, lions, hyenas, leopards and crocodiles amongst others are attracted by the convenience of easily striking on their prey, without expending too much energy. Similarly, we become victims of the forces of change when we disregard or ignore our personalized orientations and end up doing the same things and in the same ways as everybody else. We choose to learn the same things in school, and eventually pursue the same degrees. Thereafter, we conduct the same businesses amongst numerous other inclinations. In other words, we tend to be guided by the environment around us, as well as our peers, as we continue making fundamental choices in our lives. Further, we tend to misinterpret the concept of benchmarking, which is a measurement of the quality of our policies, products, programs and strategies amongst other attributes, especially when compared with the standard measurements, or similar measurements of our peers. My Behavior Traits Paper An Overall Outlook at My Behavior Traits Timithy Crumrine Indiana Wesleyan University An Overall Outlook at My Behavior Traits Starting at the time I answered the questions in the DISC profile, I could watch and predict the pattern that was playing out before my eyes. During the introduction to each behavior profile, I could already tell which behavior best described me. Almost every word that is listed under that heading is a word that I have, or would use to describe myself. However, I did not know what the perception of others would be. In this paper, I will attempt to show the similarities and differences between the behaviors that I have described and those of my friends, family, and coworkers. Although many people claim to be the same person in all settings, in this instance, I have the research to back up my claim. As always, the change in all settings of my life are minute. In my own assessment, I have found that even though you may answer sections differently with differing moods, I always come back as a D behavior style. I am that classic, controlled person when I am in control. However, I can be the exact opposite if we get off track and things start to unwind. Suskind uses literary historical details to narrate the story of a self obsessed man, who commits horrendous crimes to achieve his objective. In the narration, Suskind carefully crafts the historical importance of the Age of Enlightenment. That was an important period in European History because, the age of Enlightenment encouraged Europeans to shift away from the religious based understanding of the universe. Suskind wrote Perfume when rational thinking superseded the common perception about the religious side. The spirit of human generosity repulsed him so much that he did not hesitate to enjoy killing women one after another. Grenouille s sensibility and addiction in a way reconstructs a different perception about the age of Enlightenment. Grenouille s lack of scent is not just lack of a body odor, but also the lack of morals, because a reader can see that Grenouille is someone who has the physical characteristics of a man but without the substance that fully establishes one as a human being. The sense of smell itself is always a way in which a person s soul is identified, without the ability to smell or produce a body odor, one cannot detect the soul of a person. [3] A good sense of smell is relatable to human generosity, warmth and passion, Suskind writes about Gaillard, For good all sense of smell and every sense of human warmth and human coldness, indeed every human passion. Without that one blow, tenderness had become as foreign to her has enmity. Joy as strange as despair . Thus, Grenouille s obsession for producing the perfect smell can be interpreted not only a form of self gratification but also creating a soul for himself because when he kills his victims he extracts their body odor, thus extracting their essence and rendering them soulless. In so doing, Grenouille in fact gruesomely acts against the very principles of the age of Enlightenment, and thus an antithesis of the human spirit of warmth, sensibility and humanity at large. Grenouille shows a conflicting personality because even though he lacks body odor, he feels that his inner most being is wonderful. While describing Grenouille, Suskind writes, He wanted to empty himself of his inner most being, of nothing less than his inner most being, which he considered more wonderful than anything the world had to offer . It is a city full of beautiful architecture, art, and history. The Renaissance was a powerful cultural movement that not only shaped all aspects of Florentine life, but eventually the rest of Europe. Science, art, literature, philosophy, religion, architecture, and politics have seen heavy influences by this movement. The term Renaissance literally means rebirth : the rebirth of man and the rebirth of two important ancient cultures, Greek and Roman, which had been lost with the beginning of the Middle Ages in Western history. Florence was very prosperous during the late Middle Ages, next to Venice and Milan. It was the birthplace of many important thinkers, artists, architects, and political figures who led the Renaissance. Along with the birth of the philosophy of humanism, the rebirth of ancient Greek and Roman cultures were driven by a revived interest in ancient thought, the advances in literature, the emphasis of human based ideals in the arts, and the influence of the papacy and the Holy Roman Empire upon the Florentine government. Italian thinkers had an interest in the ways that ancient Greeks and Romans thought, a driving force of the Renaissance. • 19. The Psychological Impacts Of African Imperialism In Africa The psychological impact of the introduction of European culture is reflected in the way Africans illustrated themselves in stories while concurrently portraying the acuteness of the imperialism situation. The concept of social Darwinism swept the 19th century world with the theory that some peoples were naturally superior to others. Factors such as race, wealth, property, and so on were supposedly directly correlated to superiority over others. This concept was concocted mainly to justify the colonial takeover of lesser nations and to reinforce European supremacy. ( Social Darwinism ) An example of this idea is Routledge s scorn toward Africans and their culture. This demeanor had a large psychological impact on the colonized Africans. In Song of Lawino; A Lament, Ocol scorns his own people by saying, Black People are Primitive. Ocol is completely convinced his race is backward, imbecilic and corrupt. (Clark 41) Clearly, the psychological impact of European treatment towards Africans altered the way Africans thought about themselves. If Lawino is seen as an example of African pride before imperialism, surly Ocol demonstrates the effect of the mental coercion and acceptance of European superiority that imperialism brought. To combat this idea of inferiority, many African authors warned against the dangers of believing imperialists. Bayesian methods have been used for a variety of AI applications across many disciplines including cognitive modeling, medical diagnosis, learning causal networks, and finance. Two years after his death, in 1763, Rev. Thomas Bayes Essay Toward solving a Problem in the Doctrine of Chances was published. Bayes is regarded as the first to use probability inductively and established a mathematical basis for probability inference which he outlined in this now famous paper. The idea behind Bayes method is simple; the probability that an event will occur in future trials can be calculated from the frequency with which it has occurred in prior trails. This innovation in existing technology meant that the handheld type design would later be upgraded as newer technologies took its place. Today, the ball mouse has been largely replaced by the optical and laser mouse. These types of mouse devices use LEDs to emit light onto the surface on which it sits, the reflected light is analysed by a set of photodiodes. The main drawback of the optical mouse is that they only function on opaque and matte surfaces as they depend on the light reflecting the surfaces imperfections. • 30. The Supplemental Nutrition Program For Women The Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) was started in 1972, and was permanently established in 1974 by the USDA (WIC Fact Sheet, 2015; Brown, 2011). WIC was established to safeguard the health of women, infants, and children up to age five who are low income and at nutritional risk; their mission is carried out by means of supplementing diets by providing access to nutritious foods, nutrition education, breastfeeding education, breastfeeding promotion, breastfeeding support, and referrals to health and other social service agencies (WIC Fact Sheet, 2015). WIC is one of the most successful nutrition programs in the United States that is federally funded; it has served approximately 5.7 million children and 1.8 million women in fiscal years 2001 2003 (Brown, 2011). WIC is not an entitlement program as Congress does not set aside funds to allow every eligible individual to participate in the program. WIC is a Federal grant program for which Congress authorizes a specific amount of funds each year for the program. (WIC at a Glance, 2015, p. 1). WIC is directed by the Food and Nutrition Service at the Federal level and run by 90 WIC state agencies that operates through 1,900 local agencies in 10,000 clinic sites, in 50 State health departments, 34 Indian Tribal Organizations, the District of Columbia, Northern Mariana, American Samoa, Guam, Puerto Rico, and the Virgin Islands (WIC at a Glance, 2015). Do you believe that this film can help with the issue(s) and conversations about what the film speaks to? Why or why not? This film helps me to shape my overall outlook at multicultural issues and problems we face as a society, in that it causes me to see people s talents and accomplishments, based on work ethic, rather than on a person s race. I believe that this film can help with the issues and conversations that this film speaks to, because many people can understand that courage and accomplishments can defeat stereotypes and ... • 32. What Is The Tone Of The Seafarer The Seafarer by Burton Raffel was written during the Anglo Saxon period where the Anglo Saxon warriors lived to defend their King, like in the story Sir Gawain and The Green Knight. One of the warriors speaks about his challenges and begins saying that his story is not at all joyful. It is a story full of pain and suffering. The story paints a picture of what it means to be dislocated , set out , all by oneself and how badly it feels. My feet were cast in icy bands, bound with frost, with frozen chains, and hardship groaned around my heart. Hunger tore at my sea weary soul. No man sheltered on the quiet fairness of earth can feel how wretched I was .(Raffel 1) The powerful imagery in this stanza sets the tone that the narrator is trying to ... • 33. Child Rearing Interview For the interview, I call a family friend. She has two daughters, a 6 year old and a 3 year old, because of this I thought she was the perfect person to ask questions to. One issue that I want to highlight is about child rearing. For this reason I thought she will be someone good to talked about receiving advice on how to take care of children. The question that I ask her was, What advice will you give me if I were to someday have a baby? She told me that the best advice she could give me was to take maternity/antenatal classes for first time mothers. She told me that it was important for first time mothers to know what to do if their baby got sick and instead of going to the doctor every time the baby cry, to know the difference between ... • 34. Descriptive Essay On Rain Forest It was two years ago, in Australia. My parents, my sisters and I were visiting the country in camping car, and we had decided to go on an excursion in a rainforest. The weather was enjoyable, there were a couple of clouds in the sky, just enough to make the heat bearable. We had walked in many other forests, but only in other countries. Me and my sisters were very excited to walk through our first Australian rainforest. If we had known what was awaiting us there we would have certainly not chosen to go at all. That day would teach us to never walk in an Australian rain forest unless you are sure, and absolutely certain about the weather. We were walking, exploring the forest. The vegetation was dense. And the sun hardly came through the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Dad, she said in a scared voice what is this, it won t come off me! . As the words came out of her mouth, we all realized what it was. It was a leech. Now everything didn t seem so funny at all. Understanding that my little sister screamed Mom! I have some on my leg! We were all panicking, we did not know how to get them off. My mother then had a really great idea : I know what to do she stated. What asked my two sisters in unison. I know that salt repels leeches, and I also know there is salt in the mosquito repellent, so we should try and spray the repellent on the leeches and see if that works. She answered. Do it on me first! Screamed my two sisters, eager to get these disgusting blood suckers off their skin. After testing the repellent on a leech on my father s leg, the worm detached from our skin in a spasmodic movement of what looked like pain. And so, quickly and effectively we started to get rid of the leeches. Everyone had some on their skin, except me. I was glad I had taken what I thought had been a piece of dirt off my leg, because there was no doubt now, that it was a leech. Once we were sure that all of them were gone, we started thinking about how these worms got into our clothes when we were walking, and instantly we knew: it was the rain. The leeches must have been on branches and trees, and feeling our presence, have let themselves drop on us alongside the drops of water. That thought in mind we went back to the camping car ... • 35. All Summer In A Day Mood In the story, All Summer in a day, by Ray Bradbury, the setting helps develop the mood of sadness, and depression. The author does this by making the setting dark and stormy everyday on venus. The setting makes the story gloomy at first, but when the sun comes out for one hour, it makes the reader hopeful, but the main character missed the sun. That makes the reader s mood depressed and sad. The text states, It had been raining for seven years; thousands upon thousands of days compounded and filled from one end to the other with rain...(92) This explains that it is always raining on venus, and the kids have yet to see the real sun, except for the main character, Margot. She has seen the sun when she was little, and then was taken to mars. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 36. Taking a Look at WESCAPE Development The first subject that must be viewed before looking at the actual WESCAPE Development is the demographics of Cape Town and further the Western Cape. The Western Cape is home to 5 822 734 million people; this would be approximately 11, 2 % (5 822 734 / 51 770 560) of the South Africa s total population. Western Cape s population has grown from 3 956 875 in 2006 to 5 822 734 in 2011. From 2006 till 2011, it is estimated that the Western Cape has received a net migration of 225 657 into the province. It is also been identified according to many demographic statistics that the Western Cape is one of the main two provinces in which people move to. This clearly indicates how there is an influx of people moving in to the Western Cape and how there is an increased demand of housing. It is also presumed that the Western Cape will have a population growth rate of 2.6% . In terms of the new WESCAPE Development, it must be asked if this project is another new type of racial separating schemes, similar to the ones found in Apartheid. To determine the outcome of this statement, the makeup of the Western Cape s population must be looked at in finer detail. 2011 Black Coloured Indian/Asain White Other Western Cape 32.9 % 48.8 % 1.0 % 15.7 % 1.6 % As displayed in the table above, the majority of the Western Cape s population is made up of Coloured people. The reason we need to look at this topic is so it can give necessary evidence showing if this new WESCAPE Development is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 37. ##arison Of Creon In Sophocles Dante s Inferno In Dante s Inferno, King Minos uses his power to condemn humans to hell based on their sins. King Minos seeks to use his power wisely, but Creon, King of Thebes in Sophocles Antigone puts power over family. Creon s self ambition is the driving force behind many of his ill fated decisions. For example, this flaw of excess greed inspires Creon to commit crimes against his own niece and son that result in a tragic ending for all involved. Thus, Sophocles Creon belongs in Circle Eight of Hell with the Sowers of Discord. First, King Minos defines each individual based upon their tragic flaw. This comes from Greek roots because a fatal flaw is a weakness by the character that brings apart their downfall. 1 This is the first step in passing judgement on Creon. Creon s tragic flaw is his pride and his over ambition. Creon himself admits this, That is true.... It troubles me. Oh it is hard to give in! but it is worse to risk everything for stubborn pride. 2 Pride is very dangerous because that leads to his over ambition. Aristotle argues the need to have proper pride. When a person is in excess, they are too prideful and their deficiency is that they are too short of humility.3 This excess in pride entices Creon to test out his power, so once Creon gets hold of power, he is very unlikely to give it up. Creon s tragic flaw of pride and over ambition led to his downfall and his place in hell. Since Creon has a tragic flaw, he cannot be in Limbo with the Virtuous. In his Nicomachean ... • 38. Federal Special Education Act Analysis Part I: Important Laws Regarding Special Education in the United States Federal special education Acts have progressed over time to insure that all children, including those with disabilities, have equal access to education. (Hardman Dawson, 2008, p. 5) The factors that led to these important federal Acts are varied, but the civil rights movement played a role in ensuring that there were equal education opportunities for all children (Gargiulo, 2015, p. 42) (Hardman Dawson, 2008). In 1975 the Education for all Handicapped Children Act (PL 94 142) was signed by President Gerald Ford and is notable for the following enduring concepts: a free appropriate public education (FAPE) in the least restrictive environment (LRE) which is tailored ...
