Introduction
Welcome, everyone! Today, we're going to
talk about a revolutionary technology that is
set to change the way we live, work, and
communicate: 5G!
Did you know, why 5g technology is being
more emphasized these days?
Then we would like to share with our views
on upcoming technology.
HISTORY OF GENERATION
TECHNOLOGY:
• 1G TECNHNOLOGY:
1G was the first generation of wireless cellular technology which support only voice calls
.It was released in 1980s and considered as ”communication in motion” revolution
1G technology transmits radio wave in analog signals, this allowed only certain amount
of users to communicate .
• 2G TECHNOLOGY
It was introduced to 1991 ,with features of sending SMS (short messaging
service),MMS(multimedia messaging service).Its transmits radio signals in digital signals
format that made it more reliable and secure.
The 2G digital network were also known as GSM(global system for mobile communication).
• 3G Technology:
With new version of technology , faster transferring data was possible .It was in
introduced in 2001.Transmission speed enhanced from 200kbs to 7.2mbps.
3G networks transmitting signals with higher efficiency at lower power , it uses
more secure encryption algorithm to transfer data.
• 4G Technology:
4G was introduced in 2011and emerged as the future of mobile communication
.as 4G technology provide high speed upto 10 time higher than 3g , supports HD
mobile TV, videocalling and games services.
The maximum 4g networks speed when the device is moving is 50 mb/s.
What is 5G technology
 5G technology is the fifth generation of cellular
technology, which promises to bring faster speeds,
lower latency, and increased capacity compared to
previous generations. It uses higher frequency radio
waves and more advanced antenna technology to
achieve these improvements.
 One of the key differences between 5G technology
and previous generations is the use of millimeter wave
frequencies, which allow for faster data transfer rates
but have a shorter range than the lower frequency
bands used in 4G and earlier technologies. This
requires more antennas to be deployed, which can be a
challenge for network operators.
Benefits of 5G technology
 High speed –One of the major pros of 5G tech is its
ability to work faster on devices unlike its predecessors –
2G,3Gand 4G LTE where movies videos and music
streaming have taken hour now these task can complete in
few minute. Major advantage is for Booming gaming
industry.
 Latency - 5G technology has low latency which make
it easier to support other new edge technologies such as
Artificial Intelligence , IoT and virtual reality .
 Bandwidth – with increased bandwidth ,5G technology
provides seamless transfer of data ,thus improving
connectivity amongst devices and the overall user
expirences . Moreover , the technology provides users with
a seamless transition of services between cellular devices
and wireless wifi ,thus improving performance .
Concern with 5G
 Weak upload speed – Experts believes that despite its ability to have faster download speed ,5G
technology will have less upload speed compared to 4G or 4G LTE .
 Battery damage – Another limitation of 5G technology is it weakness the cellular device ,by draining the
battery and reducing the lifespan
 Cyber security - The possibility of hacking is one of the 5Gs drawbacks. Hacker can steal the database
because of higher bandwidth. Additionally ,it uses software that permits vulnerable attacks . As a result , business and
organization will need to spend more money on a security operations to center to protect their infrastructure . With
the proliferation of IoT devices, there will be an unprecedented amount of data being collected about individuals and
their behaviors. It is important to ensure that this data is being collected and used ethically and transparently.
Application of 5G technology
 One of the most exciting applications of 5G technology is in the field of autonomous vehicles. With its
lightning-fast speeds and low latency, 5G networks can provide the real-time data transfer necessary for
safe and efficient self-driving cars. This technology could revolutionize transportation, making it faster,
safer, and more accessible for everyone.
 Another area where 5G technology has enormous potential is in remote surgery. Using a combination of
high-speed data transfer and advanced robotics, doctors could perform surgical procedures on patients
located anywhere in the world. This could greatly improve access to medical care, particularly in
underserved areas or during emergencies.
Challenges of implementing 5G technology
 One of the biggest challenges with implementing 5G technology is the infrastructure requirements.
Unlike previous generations of cellular technology, 5G requires a much denser network of small cells
that are placed closer together. This means that more equipment needs to be installed, which can be
costly and time-consuming.
 Another challenge is the cost of implementing 5G technology. Building out the necessary infrastructure
requires a significant investment, and it may take several years for the return on that investment to
materialize. Additionally, there may be regulatory hurdles that need to be overcome before 5G can be
deployed on a large scale.
Global adoption of 5G technology
Currently, South Korea is leading the way in global adoption of
5G technology, with over 4 million subscribers as of December
2019. The United States and China are also making significant
strides in implementing 5G networks, with each country having
over 100 cities with 5G coverage.
However, other countries such as Japan, Australia, and Germany
are facing challenges in implementing 5G due to regulations and
infrastructure requirements. Despite these challenges, it is
expected that by 2025, over 1.2 billion people worldwide will
have access to 5G networks.
Impact of 5G Technology on Industries
5G technology is set to revolutionize various industries, including
healthcare, manufacturing, and entertainment. With its lightning-fast
speeds and low latency, 5G will enable doctors to perform remote
surgeries, manufacturers to optimize their production lines, and gamers to
enjoy immersive virtual reality experiences.
In the healthcare industry, 5G technology will allow for real-time
monitoring of patients' vital signs and remote consultations with
specialists. This will improve patient outcomes and reduce the strain on
healthcare systems. In manufacturing, 5G will enable factories to operate
more efficiently by using sensors to track inventory, monitor equipment,
and automate processes. And in entertainment, 5G will unlock new
possibilities for immersive experiences, such as live streaming concerts and
sporting events in high definition.
5G TechnologyandtheInternetof Things(IoT)
 5G technology is set to revolutionize the Internet of Things
(IoT) by enabling faster and more reliable connections between
devices. With 5G-enabled IoT devices, we can expect to see a
wide range of new applications, such as smart homes, connected
cars, and intelligent healthcare systems.
 One example of a 5G-enabled IoT device is a smart traffic light
system that uses real-time data to adjust traffic flow and reduce
congestion. Another example is a wearable device that monitors
a patient's vital signs and sends alerts to doctors if there are any
concerns. These are just a few examples of how 5G technology
will enable the growth of the IoT and have a significant impact
on our daily lives.
Future of 5G technology
As we look to the future of 5G technology, one exciting
possibility is the integration of artificial intelligence and
machine learning. With the increased speed and capacity of
5G networks, AI and machine learning algorithms will be
able to process and analyze vast amounts of data in real-
time, enabling a new era of intelligent automation.
Imagine a world where autonomous vehicles can
communicate with each other and traffic lights to optimize
traffic flow, or where smart cities can use real-time data to
manage energy consumption and reduce waste. These are
just a few examples of the potential of 5G-enabled AI and
machine learning.
India position on 5G technology
 India has made massive growth in the global mobile
download speed, making it into the top 50 of Oookla
Speedtest Global Index list. India moves 72 places up in
the list, clinching the 47th spot in the index, leaving
behind many G20 countries.
 Since the rollout of 5G, India's speed performance has
increased by 3.59 times, with median download speeds
improving to 50.21 Mbps in August 2023 from 13.87 Mbps in
September 2022.
 The launch of 5G technology by service providers like Reliance

society.
