Turning Table Figurative Language
In the song Turning Tables by Adele, I found 4 different types of figurative language. The first type of
figurative language I found was a hyperbole. A hyperbole is an over exaggeration of something to
make a point. The line says all that I have is on the floor . Since this is a hyperbole, it means
everything she has is not actually on the floor. Instead it could mean she s come clean and has nothing
to hide. Everything she could be keeping to herself is out in the open. The purpose of saying this could
be to show that she really has nothing to hide, but in a way that makes it sound better in the song. The
second type of figurative language I found was an idiom. An idiom is a phrase with multiple
meanings. The example I found was I can t keep up with your turning ... Show more content on

The second song I used to find figurative language in is When We Were Young which is also by Adele.
The first type of figurative language I found was a simile. The simile is You re like a dream come true.
This is a simile because she is comparing a guy to a dream come true, using the words like or as.
When a dream comes true it is a really great thing so that s what she decided to compare with this guy,
who she thinks is amazing. The next type of figurative language I found was repetition. Repetition is
when something is repeated over and over again to show that it is important or to draw attention to it.
When we were young is repeated at least 10 times in the whole song. The artist did that to make a
point. This person she is looking at brings her back to all the memories they had together when they
were young. She felt that this was important and wanted it to stand out so she repeated it over and
over. The last type of figurative language I found was anaphora. Anaphora is when the beginning of
sentences start the same. The example I found was, It was just like a movie. It was just like a

Sickle Cell Disease And Its Effects
Sickle Cell Disease Sickle cell disease affects approximately 100,000 Americans and millions across
the globe (Sobota, 2015). The three most common types of sickle cell disease are Hb SS (sickle cell
anemia), Hb SC, and Hb S beta thalassemia, with Hb SS being the most common type (Harris, 2001).
Sickle cell disease occurs in individuals who inherit the mutated hemoglobin gene, from one or both
of their parents. The mutated hemoglobin, known as Hb S, crystalizes and join together into many
small cords, which form chains that look like twisted wires (Harris, 2001, p. 20). Stretched to contain
the Hb S crystals, the red blood cells take on spike and sickle shapes; this is how the name for the
disease came about (Harris, 2001). Deformed, the sickled cells have a hard time moving through the
blood stream and can eventually pile up in the blood vessels, having life threatening consequences.
Although oxygen can reverse the sickling process in cells, turning Hb S back into a liquid, after a few
sicklings the red blood cells membrane is permanently damaged and the cell will remain sickled. The
History of Sickle Cell Disease American physician James Herrick was the first to describe sickle cell
disease. In 1910, Herrick observed peculiar elongated and sickle shaped red blood corpuscles in the
blood film of a West Indian student suffering from leg ulcers, shortness of breath, and jaundice
(Chakravorty Williams, 2015, p. 48). In 1922, three more similar case were observed and

In most of the organizations, HR team doesn?t design the job on the basis of team, though they
interact with different functional departments in order to understand the job requirement and then after

competencies are related to the soft skills, that different teams are look for, but during the interaction,

Essay on Common Sense
One of the most fundamental people in the push for American Independence, Thomas Paine offers
much advice in both Common Sense, and The Crisis. Paine offers very strong arguments in Common
Sense, which are supported by his own reason, his sensibility, his common sense and by his ability to
draw inference from what has already happened. Paine uses every element in his ability to help give
more depth to his arguments and plans. However, of all the cases Thomas Paine makes in Common
Sense, the ultimate goal of Paine is to incite the American Public to make a stand against British
tyranny, and break from Britain altogether, and become independent. According to Thomas Paine,
rights and liberties of man come straight from each person s ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Paine reasons revolution is justified by the lack of other means, and his only option left to suggest is to
fight for independence. Throughout Common Sense, Thomas Paine shows that he is against
Monarchical government, and he says that the government type itself is not a reasonable means of
ruling a nation. To support this, he sheds light on several reasons in which a monarchy is a bad choice
for government. Paine says that all the power is unbalanced and vested in the hands of a single person,
which most of the time leads to the King of the nation using the powers he has, against his people, for
the benefit of himself, and those around him. Paine also says that to have hereditary succession of a
monarch is complete nonsense. Paine uses his reason to support this case by showing that maybe a
nation is lucky and has a well fit ruler as a King, but who is to say the King s successor will be best fit
for the position of King or Queen of a country. The notion that one ruler is fair and just, does NOT
guarantee that the successor will be as just or as fair. In addition to a just cause, America is fighting
with a few key advantages. While the British have a bigger Army and a Navy as well, America would
be fighting on its own soil. To add to that, Britain also has about 6 months worth of sailing between
her home country and the colonies themselves. Another plus side for the colonies is that they could
fight Britain just as well, even with a

Political Challenges Of Olympe De Gouges
A Fierce Female s Political Quest; Olympe De Gouges Discovering Olympe de Gouges work has been
a valuable acquaintance, since de Gouges is a truly fascinating character in French history; as
Beckstrand wrote in her article she [Olympe de Gouges] wrote forty one plays, twenty nine works of
prose and sixty three political pamphlets, taking unpopular stances on difficult issues concerning
women s rights and the abolition of slavery (185). De Gouges can be remembered as a passionate
individual, courageous, intense and extremely dedicated to her cause. Furthermore this intriguing lady
never backed down from a challenge, and she continued to fight for her ideals, until she was
[guillotined] on November 4, 1793 for her controversial writing (Beckstrand 185). Olympe de Gouges

modify traditional gender roles. Olympe De Gouges, born Marie Gouze in 1748, was one of the most

example of a woman who denounced eighteenth century gender constraints through her writing, in her
Declaration of the Rights of Women and the Female Citizen Olympe begins by asserting; woman is
born free and remains equal to man in rights, social distinctions may be based only on common utility

representation and adequate political presence in the public sphere for women. However, Olympe de
Gouges had many more concerns and her rhetoric included works on several different issues as well,

The Prevelance of Diabetes in the Hispanic Culture
The earliest inhabitants of Mexico are believed to have been hunters who migrated from Asia
approximately 18,000 years ago. Over time they built organized civilizations with distinct cultures like
the Olmec, Teotihuacan, Mayan, Toltec, Zapotec, Mixtec, and Aztecs. These societies excelled in the
fields of art, architecture, mathematics, astronomy, and agriculture. In 1517 the Spanish explorer
Francisco Fernández de Córdoba landed on the Yucatán, peninsula and four years later the Spanish
Conquistador Hernando Cortéz conquered the Aztec empire. For the next 300 years, Mexico, or New
Spain, would remain under colonial rule.
In the Spring of 1846 American forces quickly occupied New Mexico and California, then invaded
parts of Northeastern Mexico, Northwest Mexico and captured Mexico City. In the fall of 1847 the
war ended with the Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo. This event was the greatest territorial expansion of
the United States and was responsible for the annexation of approximately 80,000 Mexican citizens.
In 1910 the Mexican Revolution forced Mexicans to cross the border into the United States, in search
of safety and employment. In 1917 with the advent of World War 1 factories in war related industries
in the United States desperately need more workers. Latinos from the Southwest begin moving north
in large numbers in search of employment (Meyer, Sherman, Deeds, 1995).

The Fashion Of Elie Saab ( Es )
Introduction
In a world which seems to be shrinking continuously due to the emergence of globalization,
individuals seek new ways to differentiate themselves from those in their societies either by music, art
and most of all fashion. Elie Saab(ES), a Lebanese fashion house established in Beirut has found a
way to cater to the many cravings of individuals by creating and selling luxury fashion to the elites of
the world.
Beirut born owner and chairman Elie Saab first picked up an interest in fashion at the tender age of
nine, making dresses for his sisters using his mother s tablecloths as fabric. In 2010, Saab s workforce
had grown from 10 employees in his first workshop in Beirut to about 150 working in different
locations such as Paris and London. ES was well known for its Haute Couture works which are
exclusive, one of a kind evening dresses and wedding gowns.
In a bid to grow the brand, Saab sought to diversify its portfolio by partnering with various ventures
which signified and embodied the luxury lifestyle on which it had built its brand upon. ES signed
partnership contracts with various companies for the construction of luxury Yachts, exclusive hotels
and luxury fragrances. Notwithstanding the company s many partnerships and ventures, ES s core
business was fashion which had been its bread and butter. ES began primarily with Haute Couture
which is a fancy name for specially made garments using high quality materials to suit the needs of
the customer, these dresses

Our Quester
Readers are able to assemble relations between previous novels they have encountered to help better
understand a character and how their actions, thoughts and behaviors piece together who they
mimicking or who they are by utilizing memories, symbols and patterns in literature. Specifically,
patterns help simplify complex readings by gaining the ability to tie together certain possibilities and
figure out how each detail leads to an outcome a reader has seen before. This familiarity allows for a
more intricate thought process so we are able to pace ourselves with the novel. I. Quests consist of a

Abstract
The concept of the internet of things is that every physical of object in the real world has a virtual
component on the internet that can produce and consume services .Such super connected objects
would be of great convivences but they would require novel approaches to ensure security and ethical
uses. While internet of things is more than concept and it cannot be defined in concise manner as it is
complex topic, in this paper we are trying to provide review of concerns about security of internet of
things and possible ways to overcome the security threats.

Mars s Wolves Theme
This month, the book I read, Loki s Wolves by K.L. Armstrong and M. A. Marr, focused on this theme
of friendship and responsibility. I can relate to the theme of this book, which is when given a huge
responsibility, one must rely on friends. The main character, Matthew Thorson was suddenly
announced as the representative of Thor, the god, to save the world from a serpent: Our champion is
Matthew Thorsen (Armstrong 61). Being the youngest of the family and one that was the least gifted,
he doubts himself by thinking, They ve made a mistake. They ve made a really, really big mistake
(65). As the story goes on, he was instructed to find other representatives, and he became comrades
with them, and as a team, to save the world. Having ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

this task, my group had to do the research and the presentation. Luckily, my friend was helping me

Comparing the Approaches of the Progressive and Populist...
Populism vs. Progressivism Essay During the late 19th century and early 20th century the progressive
movement and populist movement were groups and organizations getting together to resolve social,
economic, and political problems occurring in the United States. Both movements had different
approaches to what was more important and how to deal with problems. Progressivism was mainly for
the betterment of cities while populism is for agrarian section of farmers. First of all there were social
failures and successes between the populist and the progressive. During the progressive era, many
lawmakers from state and general level made laws to protect citizens at home and those who are at
work. Reforms were made saying that women and children ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

There was a social change in which women also fought for suffrage. The populists were pretty much
the victims of economic distress and their arguments were founded on the basis of progressive
movements. One of the populist failure was that they lost the national election when the farmers
united to insist on economic reform. The Progressives made great efforts to solve the political
problems that industrialization and urbanization were causing. They tried to wipe out political
corruption by limiting power to big companies/ bosses and reduce the control of political machines.
Many of the progressive reforms also supported the railroad legislation, conservation movement, and
food and drug laws. This also included efforts to protect society by initiating prohibition and they also
extended suffrage to women. The progressives succeeded at keeping the power of the railroad industry
in the hands of the governments but failed at protecting the states right to control businesses. Finally
in 1890 the first federal law was passed against monopolies known as the Sherman Anti Trust Act. The
populists created a Farmers Alliance that began in Texas and it organized low cost insurance for
farmers and put banks in their place with regulations. The Farmer s Alliance also gave the government
the ownership of the transportation system to regulate their costs and monopolies. When the Grangers

Dunbar Dance
During freshmen year at Paul Laurence Dunbar high school, I had won my first national competition.
It was in Florida and I was on the Dunbar Dance team. We had been practicing for 10 months
perfecting our routine and selling desserts and candy to help pay for the competition entry fee.
The 3 hour plane ride was freezing, but it was worth it for 5 sunny, hot days. We had long practices in
the morning on the side of our hotel in direct sunlight. Those mornings were not a pretty sight. We
often got frustrated at people making the same mistakes and Coach Champe yelling, Run it again!
Practice would only end when our arms turned to jello and we started making more mistakes than we
had before we started. Practices at night were better, we got to do it inside the hotel where there was
air conditioning. And there wasn t a lot open areas so we did it in groups in the stairwell.
In the afternoons we had time to ourselves. A lot of the times a group of us lounged by the pool. One
day I went to Universal with Mom and we explored Harry Potter world. Another day I went with my
friends and we went and saw Adam Lambert perform. We laughed and joked at team dinners and

The Article, Stereotypical Constructions Of The Maori ...
The article, Stereotypical Constructions of the Maori Race in the Media, written by Melanie Wall
(1997), can be summarised as an article focusing on the effect the colonisation of New Zealand had on
the Maori as a population. It mainly focuses on the way Maori have been imagined as the stereotypical
Black Other . It speaks of the perpetuation and (re)formation of Maori identities, including the way
Maori are constrained by their Black Other stereotype within New Zealand. The article talks about
representations of race through identity images , the effect of the Maori Renaissance (in particular its
effect on identity formations), and Maori Stereotypes in the Media.
In the beginning of the article, Wall talks about the categorisations of racialised discourse. She
mentions different justifications of stereotypes, and how they relate to what is referred to as the
construction of the new world . Wall believes that as well as the traditional old racisms, there is also a
new racism which is spoken about by Barker in 1981. She uses the example of Maori as the
unemployable/unemployed, which has became one of the main stereotypes, that construct the identity
of specific Maori.
Wall speaks about four main Maori stereotypes within the Media; The Comic Other, The Primitive
Natural Athlete, The Radical Political Activist, and The Quintessential Maori. These are shown in
fairly modern contexts as well as earlier contexts.
Maori as The Comic Other, is explored by

What Do The Myths Show About The Idea Of Order Vs. Chaos...
Topic 1: What do the myths show about the idea of order vs. chaos and/or good vs. evil and what does
that say/show about each culture?
Persian and Hinduism myths paints both these ancient cultures as having an opposing negative
supremacy that is eventually defeated with time, patience, and worship. George Santayana is a
mastermind who scripted a website document named Ancient Myth, Religion, and Philosophy .
Santayana describes Zoroastrianism as a view of time and reality in a battle that will eventually lead to
a victory of one opposing force over the other. Santayana also describes Hinduism as being
worshipped by either a female goddess or a male goddess. Zoroastrianism s supreme God Ahura
Mazda has been in an ever lasting battle with a bad spirit known as Angra Mainyu. The idea of a
messiah is portrayed as Mainyu s kryptonite because it will [eventually] lead the forces of good
against evil at the end of time . Hinduism views men as chief gods and every chief god plays a
significant role in the creation of the universe. The chief Gods develop characteristics of being patient
and consistent in creating the world because they were in a continuous battle with the evil female
gods. Each culture was resilient in facing all odds to worship and live their true destiny.
Topic 9: Compare and contrast the views of death and afterlife in the myths. What do these views
show us about the cultures?
Mesopotamian and Hinduism view the afterlife as a better or worse lifestyle

Graffiti War
What do the graffiti wars say about social relations of inequality and power in cities?
Unequal power relations seemingly drive the war against graffiti. Arguably, this war targets
marginalized individuals in poor communities, more specifically; it targets poor Black and Latino
youth. Chronopolous (2011) argues that graffiti is seen as a threat to social disorder and suggests that
communities festered with graffiti are out of control (Chronopoulous 2011, pg. 77 78). This is as a
result of authorities seeing the act of graffiti writing as a domination of public spaces by Blacks and
Latinos. Not to mention, they also consider graffiti artists as criminals, disturbed, insignificant,
insecure, cowards, and socially maladjusted; which ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As stated by Taki, an influential graffiti artist when addressing the concern authorities held about his
graffiti writing, Why they go after the little guy? Why not campaign organizations that put stickers all
over the subways at election time? (Chronopoulos 2011, pg. 81). Though, graffiti is deemed as
legitimate when it is used to generate profit, which is seen through the recent increased demand for
graffiti with the purpose of beautification and gentrification. Evidently, the growing concern over
graffiti in public spaces is driven by the conflict graffiti creates when obstructing advertisements,
which generate increased consumption and profit. It also demonstrates the lack of tolerance the
dominant class has for the promotion of dominance by the lower class. Moreover, constant public
proclamations which urged people to see graffiti writing as a social safety issue, has certainly
influenced the demand for anti graffiti efforts and the attitudes upper and middle class whites had
towards Blacks and Latinos (Chronopoulos 2011, pg. 87)
There are many associations with graffiti writing, Hip hop being the first. Though the emergence of
graffiti can be attributed to street gangs; which, they used to mark their territories (Chronopoulos
2011, pg. 79), graffiti began to merge with hip hop culture in the 70s (Chronopoulos 2011, pg. 82).
Ultimately, this combination promoted the public domination over public spaces in New York City
through the use

High School And College Athletes
Wrestling is one of the more difficult sports when it comes to being in high school or college. It is not
for everyone the sport is very demanding physically and mentally. To the point where it could
seriously injure someone. In wrestling at the beginning of the season you will choose a weight class
that you will wrestle for the season. On the day of the meet you have to weigh in and weigh the weight
class you chose. Some wrestlers would do just about anything to make weight even if it meant making
themselves throw up, dehydrate themselves, or starve themselves.
High school and college students at the beginning of the season have to get a body fat percent test
done. The lowest body fat percent you can have is seven percent for both high school and college
unless you have a doctor s note. There are a lot of students in both high school and college that would
go get a doctor s note so they could cut more weight and still be varsity. Most high school and college
wrestlers never made the best choices either after a meet. They will eat how they normally do or pig
out and gain more weight than what they had to lose.
Most colleges and high schools have a meet at least once or twice a week sometimes one during the
week and then an all day tournament during the weekend. So for some wrestlers who did not make the
best choices would lose an unhealthy amount once or twice a week. Some wrestlers would even take it
to the extreme and not eat or drink for a couple of days and put

Writing in Mathematics Seminar
Mathematics is different from some other disciplines such as art and music in that it builds upon itself.
It has traditionally been based on a series of axioms and theorems derived from these axioms, from
which more theorems can be derived. Therefore, when an essay asks us to eliminate a concept
fundamental to mathematics, it is difficult to make a choice since each concept has its merits and is
necessary for understanding concepts that build upon it. This essay, although not feasible to implement
in the real world, accomplishes the goals of a Writing in Mathematics seminar, which are to encourage
students to think creatively about mathematics, increase the students skills in writing effective
arguments, and show the students that there ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The ultimate goal of this seminar is to enhance our writing capabilities, with mathematics as the topic
of discussion. This assignment challenges us to think about the arguments of the opposing viewpoints,
because both sides are necessary for mathematics to function properly. We have to anticipate the
arguments of the other side and build a strong case against those points thereby encouraging us to
write more persuasively than a typical assignment in this class would. In my essay, I chose to
eliminate the triangle. I had to take into consideration that other people could argue triangles are
important in engineering, and I built an argument on how triangles are not necessary with some
creative uses of circles. This exercise in counterargument allowed me to practice different persuasive
techniques. The higher level thinking required by us is twofold creative workarounds to mathematical
concepts and advanced methods of persuasion. While this assignment does challenge our writing
abilities, it could do more. We are offered a choice of three topics to write about, so we are free to pick
a topic that is the most comfortable for us. A good writer can create an argument for either side of any
topic. If the assignment did not give us any choices, we would be challenged to write about something
that we are not necessarily comfortable writing about. Students who write in their comfort zone will
not try to improve their writing

Kerberos Essay
Kerberos and Firewalls
Kerberos
Kerberos is defined as an authentication protocol combined with a suite used in implementing the
software (Nicola Aargau). The authentication protocol has its name derived from the three headed dog
in the Greek mythology used for guarding the entrance to the underworld. The protocol involves three
entities; the first two are aimed at authenticating one another i.e. the resource center and user while the
third party acts as the key distribution center or the mediator between the two keys.
Kerberos authentication protocol is based on symmetric key cryptography where the key used for
encryption and decryption is the same. The formula for the protocol is
DK (E K(M)) = M
Where D stands for decryption, K stands for the key, E stands for encryption, M stands for encrypted
text. In case the key is the same for both encryption and decryption procedures, the decryption process
leads to the same plain text as the original text before encryption.
The key distribution center comprises of two components, integrated into one server. These
components are the authentication server and the ticket granting server. Considering three entities, that
is, the resource center, client and user Z, the request and authentication process works in the following
way. The user Z feeds in a username and password into the client machine, which is encrypted to form
a secret key. The user Z through the client then contacts the authentication server, which in turn sends

get the public s opinion. A type of poll that is commonly use throughout the service of U.S presidents
is the Presidental job approval rating. This poll is designed to measure how well the public thinks the
president is doing his or job.
Some presidents have done exceptionally well in the public s opinion, while others like, George ...

Then, the participants answered that they either approved or disapproved. But, the participants could
also choose to have no opinion. Due to the fact that the surveyor wants the public s true opinion on the
president, in his or her questions, they refrain from using bias to sway their participant. Consequently,
the questions used are often straightforward and simple. Presidental job approval rating polls are not
given to the entire population of the United States. In other words, these polls are targeted towards
specific groups. Who was surveyed for the poll? And how many? Adult citizens and registered voters
were surveyed for the poll. 1,001 adult Americans were surveyed by interviews that occurred over
telephone calls. Earlier, it was mentioned that this poll refrained from using bias. What exactly were
the questions about? What are some examples of the non biased questions? The questions about
Obama were simply asking if the person approved or disapproved of the way he handled his job as
president and how the person felt about his dealings with ISIS, Foreign Affairs, etc. Here are a few
examples of actual questions used: Do you approve or disapprove of the way Barack Obama is

Revolutionary Change By Betty Friedan
Change
The definition of revolutionary is Involving or causing a complete or dramatic change and this is what
the American society went through during the years of 1945 1970. Americans experienced rebellion
and recovery which led to revolutionary changes. For example, in 1954 the war in Vietnam began and
inspired protests across the nation, because it was an unpopular war. Americans also faced the threat
of communism and the atomic bomb which made Americans anxious. The process of recovery took a
long time for many Americans, they had been through years of war and with a new war in the horizon
the peace would have to wait once again ( Prosperity and Protest... 964). An important author living

The response to Friedan s book convinced her of the need for a new women s organization. This led
her to help found the National Organization for Women (NOW) in 1966. NOW wanted to address

Feminine Mystique launched and led a hugely successful movement, which is what makes Betty
Friedan so revolutionary. It made enormous progress by fighting employment discrimination,
advancing educational opportunities, and protecting reproductive rights ( Women s Movement 2).
Women currently earn more bachelor s and master s degrees than men do. Nationwide, numbers for
woman police officers, firefighters, lawyers and many more occupations are on the rise. ( Women s

The Definition Of Effective Leadership
Definition of effective leadership
Most historians rank George Washington, Abraham Lincoln, Thomas Jefferson, and Theodore
Roosevelt as America s finest leaders. Agreement on their quality is so strong, in fact, that in the
1920s, their likenesses were immortalized on Mount Rushmore, which has since become an iconic
symbol of great leadership.
On the other end of the spectrum, Warren G. Harding, Pierce, James Buchanan, and George W. Bush
are ranked as among our worst leaders. Herbert Hoover, John Tyler, and Millard Fillmore sank to the
bottom as well.
The unanimity among these rankings suggests that the qualities that make an effective leader do not
change with place and time, with the governed body or with the situation. America s sixth president,
John Quincy Adams, defined leadership this way: If your actions inspire others to dream more, learn
more, do more and become more, you are a leader. I agree that effective leadership is distinguished by
four critical qualities: passion, vision, emotional intelligence, and confidence. Leaders who possess
these qualities are able to make a positive impact on their institution as Adams did, improving
American life through his strong hand on the wheel of the ship.
Without a leader s clear vision and guidance, a business is like a ship drifting aimlessly. The leader s
vision provides the map, establishing a path that leads to the desired destination. Effective leaders
create clear, concise visions that identify the key actions

Constraint In Macbeth
In Shakespeare s Macbeth, both Macbeth and Lady Macbeth believe that manhood requires self
constraint, however the two differ their application of that constraint. While Macbeth restrains his
desires, Lady Macbeth restrains her sympathy. When Duncan arrives at Inverness, Macbeth says to his
wife: we will proceed no further in this business. [Duncan] hath honored me as of late, and I have
bought golden opinions from all sorts of people, which would be worn now in their newest gloss, not
cast aside so soon (1.7.34 38). Macbeth wants to kill Duncan and become the king. However, he halts
his business , the assassination of Duncan, because he feels indebted towards Duncan and Duncan s
subjects for showering him with honor and golden opinions . Macbeth would feel guilty to just cast

not feel guilty like Macbeth does because believes men must show emotional constraint if they are to
achieve their goals. Furthermore, when preparing to help kill Duncan, Lady Macbeth tells spirits to
unsex me here, and fill me from crown to toe top full of direst cruelty and to make thick my blood.
Stop up th access and passage to remorse (1.5.48 51). She wants to be un sexed , thus becoming more

Planaria Regeneration Lab Report

Dr. Jones Held
This article studies the ability of regeneration possessed by the planaria. Morgan (1898) observes in
different methods how the planaria are cut into smaller pieces, and then he observes the pieces to see
if the planaria will regenerate. When the planaria are cut near the head, the pieces do not appear to
regenerate, and the pieces cut too small also do not possess the ability to regenerate (Morgan, 1898).
Pieces cut from the middle and the end piece of the planaria, however, have shown results of
respawning from within the old tissue. When the author tried to fuse two sampled pieces together, he
observed that the pieces formed a union (Morgan, 1898). However, the fusion did not last long, and
the pieces died long after fusing together (Morgan, 1898). It is likely that the samples were not able to
complete the regeneration after the union emerged. I will be able to use this report for my lab report as

Gangsta Rap And Its Impact On The Rap Game
You are now about to witness the strength of street knowledge (Rob,2002). Gangsta rap, music s
biggest rebellion formed from this street knowledge. In a pop world where rap was still considered a
novelty, it was a serious shock to the system (Rob,2002). N.W.A short for N****s With Attitude
affected the rap game in three ways, positively, negatively, and overall. It was twenty years ago that
the rap group N.W.A with Ice Cube as its most vital lyricist released its album Straight Outta Compton
. They called their music reality rap, everyone else called it gangsta and music history was made. Hip
hop music came from the clubs and sidewalks of New York City as party music made with turntables
and rhymes by performers who usually couldn t afford music instruments. It was party music and then
it came west and got a beat down by a swaggering collective that called itself N.W.A. They took the
genre to the dangerous side of the street (Boucher,2008). N.W.A s first album Straight Outta Compton
influenced a number of films depicting inner city violence, such as Boyz N The Hood and Menace II
Society. N.W.A influenced an attitude change about rap music and its impact. Straight Outta Compton
changed what was considered extreme and explicit. N.W.A s music affected people similarly to
Nirvana s Nevermind album that introduced grunge in 1991. Their music allowed for a certain
freedom. Now rappers were free to speak their minds no matter how explicit their lyrics were. At

The Dark Side Of Dark Net Markets
In a world of ever dwindling freedoms one of the last bastions of completely unregulated and free
trade is the deep web, and even though a plethora of dangerous illegal activity goes on within it, it
should be left alone. Even if the deep web and all the markets hidden within it are somehow shut
down, people will find a new haven to carry on their activity. There will always be a bastion for illegal
activity somewhere, and there is nothing anyone can do to change that fact. Dark net markets aren t
the only thing hiding in the deep web either, there are entire communities that house themselves
within it. Something I find myself pondering quite a bit about these days is that a lot of the technology
that has become so embedded in our lives seems so science fiction like, but are we ready for it?
Something that we have in our culture that not many people know about is the dark net or deep web.
Like a cyberpunk novel, it s an entire underground culture based in the vast world of the internet, our
modern day virtual information highway. It is used for all colors of illegal activity; drug trafficking,
human trafficking, counterfeit products, a disturbing amount of illegal pornography (most of it is just
that, same with the surface web as well), weapons, hitmen, questionable literature, all the things the
government veils with its law. The dark net is much more than that, and despite the myriad of illegal
endeavors that it is infamous for, the dark net is a vast expanse of

Women’s Roles in Classical Hollywood Cinema
Women s roles in movies have changed dramatically throughout the years. As a result of the changing
societal norms, women have experienced more transition in their roles than any other class. During the
period of classical Hollywood cinema, both society and the film industry preached that women should
be dependent on men and remain in home in order to guarantee stability in the community and the
family. Women did not have predominated roles in movies such as being the heroin. The 1940 s film
Gilda wasn t an exception. In Gilda, the female character mainly had two different stereotypes. The
female character was first stereotyped as a sex object and the second stereotyped as a scorned woman
who has to be punished.

Along with chiaroscuro, lighting a dark weather, the femme fatale is one of the main traits of film noir.
It is the femme fatale that excites and draws in the audience.
These were well illustrated in the film Gilda. The film noir genre develops when Ballin is involved in
an illicit and covert business deal with two German businessmen. The deal gets sour when the
businessmen want to take back their share but Ballin refuses. Gilda is a typical example of femme
fatale in that like many of their male victims, have lost their independence primarily because they
married to a man for money basically seeing them as just one more of their owned possessions. Gilda
represents a female character who is involved with a man she really doesn t love for the pure motive
of cash and financial stability. She is terrified by Ballin but it didn t stop her from marrying him for his
money.
The opening of Gilda first introduced the object dice as the camera tilts up from ground level
revealing the dice and Johnny. Gilda was soon introduced with similar camera techniques. Her head
pops up in an empty frame in such a way that puts the emphasis on her lush and luxurious hair and the
smile that seems to suggest so much. The movements of these two shots used the same function of
introducing Gilda and the dice as objects. When the dice was introduced, the main focus wasn t on the
dice as it remained blurry which indicates the dice is a

A Successful Business Leadership Style
The ultimate aim of this research is to highlight a successful business leadership style. The intention is
to research business leadership in the developing countries, and devise a new framework or strategy
that can be used by businesses and education systems within developing countries and possibly other
Asian countries. This framework would identify the qualities necessary to develop an appropriate
leadership style to be an effective leader in organisations operating. This will be achieved by
investigating the social and cultural environment and look at how these forces affect the business
environment, and in particular the qualities of a good leader within the organisation. The research
aims to fill a gap in the existing body of knowledge to do with leadership and management in different
regions of the world.
LITERATURE REVIEW
Background
Broadly speaking, leadership can be defined as a process in which an individual influences a group of
individuals to work towards the achievement of a common goal or vision (Lussier, 1996; Northouse,
2001; Stogdill, 1974). Moreover, Bush and Coleman (2000) note that since most of what has been
written about leadership draws upon western cultural models, it should be borne in mind that
leadership might well be viewed differently in different cultures.
The difference between leadership and management is vividly encapsulated in Bass s model of
transformational and transactional leadership styles. Transformational leaders

Exercise Is A Good And Normal Way For Lose Weight
Did you know, the percent of adults who are obese in the United States is 34.9% now, and it was
continually getting larger in the recent years (CDC)? What a surprise that more than 1 out of 3 adults
are obese in our country. Obesity can cause various health problems, such as high blood pressure,
diabetes, coronary heart disease, or even directly cause death. So, it is time to control and prevent
obesity. Exercise is a good and normal way to lose weight, but Melinda Moyer discusses about
another way, reducing the amount of carbs in people s daily lives. She leads readers to explore the
relation between carbs rich diet and obesity or chronic disease. Even though some other theories like
low fat diet were supported in the history, more facts and evidence prove that low carbs diet is the best
way to solve the problem. Moyer uses pathos, ethos and logos to persuade her audience to against
carbs, and choose low carb diet in her article Against The Grains. Pathos is the strategy that is used in
some sections of the article to appeal to audience s emotions. Moyer promptly attracts readers
attention by starting the article with her own experience of weight loss. She says she lost 15 pounds
because of the wheat free diet (Moyer 2). It may let readers (especially who are obese, and looking for
an efficient way to lose their weight) excited about this fact, and curious about how and why wheat

U.s. Cuban Relations With Cuba
Although Obama s desire for better relations with Cuba is an important factor in the normalization of
US Cuban relations, the most important factor is a change in national opinion towards Cuba, a second
image analysis. In 1998, a poll by ABC News indicated that 38% of Americans believed that
diplomatic relations should be re established with Cuba (Polling Report). A similar poll conducted in
2015 by USA Today/Gallup put that number at 61% (Polling Report). Any political decision is
strongly influenced by public opinion. Obama s decision to normalize US Cuban relations is only
possible because more people, particularly Cuban Americans, are open to the idea of better relations
between the two nations. Historically, many Cubans have moved to the US to flee persecution and
oppression under the dictatorial Cuban government. Traditionally they have been the strongest
opponents against US Cuban rapprochement, but in recent decades this opposition has eased
considerably. This may be because of a generational shift in the Cuban American community, as
second and third generation Cuban Americans have become more tolerant and welcome towards
greater openness between the two countries.
In 2000, the Elian Gonzalez custody and immigration battle highlighted the anger still prevalent in the
Cuban American community. A motherless Cuban boy was returned to his father in Cuba, which
incited great fury among the Cuban American community that the government would send a child
fleeing Cuba

Hockey Is The Most Elite Level Of Hockey
The National Hockey League, also known as the NHL, is the most elite level of hockey in the world.
With seven teams playing in Canada, the sport s country of origin, and twenty three teams in the
United States, hockey has become a favorite sport to watch globally. Hockey is full of high speed,
agility, skill, and is widely famous for its violence. Fans love and adore the sport for its glorification of
fighting, or best known in hockey as fisticuffs. Before the NHL was founded in 1917, fighting had
already been a strong and defining characteristic of the sport. Adam Proteau of The Hockey News
wrote an article on the history of fighting; fisticuffs credit its roots back as far as the late 1800s.
Proteau continues with, originally, fighting in hockey was frowned upon and looked at by the media as
classless and unnecessary. Proteau also states, ironically, with the media making fighting such a big
deal, it actually, in turn, created more fans and increased attendance during the hockey games
(Proteau). More recently, fighting has become a very controversial issue in the NHL. Veteran players,
sports journalists and physicians have argued against the physicality and necessity of fighting and the
dangers that ensue. Like the National Football League (NFL), the NHL has been scrutinized and
plagued with a plethora of player concussions, and even deaths, which, recently, has sparked a strong
debate on whether or not fighting should be banned in the NHL. By the time the NHL was in

Summary Of The Reclaiming The American Dream Report
In the Reclaiming the American Dream report (AACC, 2012), seven recommendations were suggested
to meet the needs of the students, as well as having a strong community college system. Hence, these
recommendation address redesigning students educational experiences, reinventing institutional roles,
and resetting the system to create incentives for students and institutional triumphs.
Recommendation One A section of recommendation one is to increase completion rates of students
earning community college credentials (certificates and associate degrees) by fifty percent by 2020.
(AACC, 2012 p. 26). Although recommendation one is certainly obtainable, completing the goal by
2020 is doubtful. As an administrator, in order to see a goal this large come to manifestation, everyone
has to get on the bus, and asking the same question who instead of what then, and only then will a goal
this large will manifest ( Collins, 2001). However, utilizing particular strategies to accomplish the goal
will help toward achieving the goal. In doing that, students would be served more effectively and
more efficiently, because staff and faculty would be more intentional regarding the service rendered.
Affective academic advising is an essential and sure way to promote students retention (O Banion,
1997). In addition, using strategies to construct coherent, structured pathways to complete degrees,
promote transfers from community colleges to four year institutions, and to assist students

Childhood Is Common For All Children
Childhood is common to all children, however it is fragmented and constructed by the diversity of
children s lives (James James, 2004). Childhood is both a historically and culturally constructed
process, as before the Middle Ages the concept of childhood did not exist, children had no distinctive
social status compared with adults (James James, 2004). Moreover, in a contemporary society children
are active participants in their own social worlds, childhood has become a very cultural process, how
adults see children and the way they behave towards them shapes children s lived experiences (James
James, 2004). In society adults have unwritten, invisible control over children and regulate their lives
to a certain extent. Space therefore places an important role on how adults obtain their regulation over
children, and to what extent children can resist their control. For example, within cyberspace children
are much more resistant to control as adults cannot control what is online. As result as this children are
almost free agents to learn and explore, and it also gives children with physical disabilities the chance
to be a normal child online. Nevertheless, control over children has increased hugely over the years as
today the natural innocence of children is being questioned and children are becoming subject to
tighter regimes of surveillance and new forms of ordering (James James, 2004). Moreover this results
in the regulation and control of children s cultures

  • 2. Turning Table Figurative Language In the song Turning Tables by Adele, I found 4 different types of figurative language. The first type of figurative language I found was a hyperbole. A hyperbole is an over exaggeration of something to make a point. The line says all that I have is on the floor . Since this is a hyperbole, it means everything she has is not actually on the floor. Instead it could mean she s come clean and has nothing to hide. Everything she could be keeping to herself is out in the open. The purpose of saying this could be to show that she really has nothing to hide, but in a way that makes it sound better in the song. The second type of figurative language I found was an idiom. An idiom is a phrase with multiple meanings. The example I found was I can t keep up with your turning ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The second song I used to find figurative language in is When We Were Young which is also by Adele. The first type of figurative language I found was a simile. The simile is You re like a dream come true. This is a simile because she is comparing a guy to a dream come true, using the words like or as. When a dream comes true it is a really great thing so that s what she decided to compare with this guy, who she thinks is amazing. The next type of figurative language I found was repetition. Repetition is when something is repeated over and over again to show that it is important or to draw attention to it. When we were young is repeated at least 10 times in the whole song. The artist did that to make a point. This person she is looking at brings her back to all the memories they had together when they were young. She felt that this was important and wanted it to stand out so she repeated it over and over. The last type of figurative language I found was anaphora. Anaphora is when the beginning of sentences start the same. The example I found was, It was just like a movie. It was just like a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Sickle Cell Disease And Its Effects Sickle Cell Disease Sickle cell disease affects approximately 100,000 Americans and millions across the globe (Sobota, 2015). The three most common types of sickle cell disease are Hb SS (sickle cell anemia), Hb SC, and Hb S beta thalassemia, with Hb SS being the most common type (Harris, 2001). Sickle cell disease occurs in individuals who inherit the mutated hemoglobin gene, from one or both of their parents. The mutated hemoglobin, known as Hb S, crystalizes and join together into many small cords, which form chains that look like twisted wires (Harris, 2001, p. 20). Stretched to contain the Hb S crystals, the red blood cells take on spike and sickle shapes; this is how the name for the disease came about (Harris, 2001). Deformed, the sickled cells have a hard time moving through the blood stream and can eventually pile up in the blood vessels, having life threatening consequences. Although oxygen can reverse the sickling process in cells, turning Hb S back into a liquid, after a few sicklings the red blood cells membrane is permanently damaged and the cell will remain sickled. The History of Sickle Cell Disease American physician James Herrick was the first to describe sickle cell disease. In 1910, Herrick observed peculiar elongated and sickle shaped red blood corpuscles in the blood film of a West Indian student suffering from leg ulcers, shortness of breath, and jaundice (Chakravorty Williams, 2015, p. 48). In 1922, three more similar case were observed and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 5. Essay on Common Sense One of the most fundamental people in the push for American Independence, Thomas Paine offers much advice in both Common Sense, and The Crisis. Paine offers very strong arguments in Common Sense, which are supported by his own reason, his sensibility, his common sense and by his ability to draw inference from what has already happened. Paine uses every element in his ability to help give more depth to his arguments and plans. However, of all the cases Thomas Paine makes in Common Sense, the ultimate goal of Paine is to incite the American Public to make a stand against British tyranny, and break from Britain altogether, and become independent. According to Thomas Paine, rights and liberties of man come straight from each person s ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Paine reasons revolution is justified by the lack of other means, and his only option left to suggest is to fight for independence. Throughout Common Sense, Thomas Paine shows that he is against Monarchical government, and he says that the government type itself is not a reasonable means of ruling a nation. To support this, he sheds light on several reasons in which a monarchy is a bad choice for government. Paine says that all the power is unbalanced and vested in the hands of a single person, which most of the time leads to the King of the nation using the powers he has, against his people, for the benefit of himself, and those around him. Paine also says that to have hereditary succession of a monarch is complete nonsense. Paine uses his reason to support this case by showing that maybe a nation is lucky and has a well fit ruler as a King, but who is to say the King s successor will be best fit for the position of King or Queen of a country. The notion that one ruler is fair and just, does NOT guarantee that the successor will be as just or as fair. In addition to a just cause, America is fighting with a few key advantages. While the British have a bigger Army and a Navy as well, America would be fighting on its own soil. To add to that, Britain also has about 6 months worth of sailing between her home country and the colonies themselves. Another plus side for the colonies is that they could fight Britain just as well, even with a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 7. The Prevelance of Diabetes in the Hispanic Culture The earliest inhabitants of Mexico are believed to have been hunters who migrated from Asia approximately 18,000 years ago. Over time they built organized civilizations with distinct cultures like the Olmec, Teotihuacan, Mayan, Toltec, Zapotec, Mixtec, and Aztecs. These societies excelled in the fields of art, architecture, mathematics, astronomy, and agriculture. In 1517 the Spanish explorer Francisco Fernández de Córdoba landed on the Yucatán, peninsula and four years later the Spanish Conquistador Hernando Cortéz conquered the Aztec empire. For the next 300 years, Mexico, or New Spain, would remain under colonial rule. The article, Stereotypical Constructions of the Maori Race in the Media, written by Melanie Wall (1997), can be summarised as an article focusing on the effect the colonisation of New Zealand had on the Maori as a population. It mainly focuses on the way Maori have been imagined as the stereotypical Black Other . It speaks of the perpetuation and (re)formation of Maori identities, including the way Maori are constrained by their Black Other stereotype within New Zealand. The article talks about representations of race through identity images , the effect of the Maori Renaissance (in particular its effect on identity formations), and Maori Stereotypes in the Media. In the beginning of the article, Wall talks about the categorisations of racialised discourse. She mentions different justifications of stereotypes, and how they relate to what is referred to as the construction of the new world . Wall believes that as well as the traditional old racisms, there is also a new racism which is spoken about by Barker in 1981. She uses the example of Maori as the unemployable/unemployed, which has became one of the main stereotypes, that construct the identity of specific Maori. Though, graffiti is deemed as legitimate when it is used to generate profit, which is seen through the recent increased demand for graffiti with the purpose of beautification and gentrification. It also demonstrates the lack of tolerance the dominant class has for the promotion of dominance by the lower class. • 20. Kerberos Essay Kerberos and Firewalls Kerberos Kerberos is defined as an authentication protocol combined with a suite used in implementing the software (Nicola Aargau). The authentication protocol has its name derived from the three headed dog in the Greek mythology used for guarding the entrance to the underworld. The protocol involves three entities; the first two are aimed at authenticating one another i.e. the resource center and user while the third party acts as the key distribution center or the mediator between the two keys. Kerberos authentication protocol is based on symmetric key cryptography where the key used for encryption and decryption is the same. The formula for the protocol is DK (E K(M)) = M Where D stands for decryption, K stands for the key, E stands for encryption, M stands for encrypted text. In case the key is the same for both encryption and decryption procedures, the decryption process leads to the same plain text as the original text before encryption. The key distribution center comprises of two components, integrated into one server. These components are the authentication server and the ticket granting server. Considering three entities, that is, the resource center, client and user Z, the request and authentication process works in the following way. The Definition Of Effective Leadership Definition of effective leadership Most historians rank George Washington, Abraham Lincoln, Thomas Jefferson, and Theodore Roosevelt as America s finest leaders. Agreement on their quality is so strong, in fact, that in the 1920s, their likenesses were immortalized on Mount Rushmore, which has since become an iconic symbol of great leadership. On the other end of the spectrum, Warren G. Harding, Pierce, James Buchanan, and George W. Bush are ranked as among our worst leaders. The unanimity among these rankings suggests that the qualities that make an effective leader do not change with place and time, with the governed body or with the situation. America s sixth president, John Quincy Adams, defined leadership this way: If your actions inspire others to dream more, learn more, do more and become more, you are a leader. I agree that effective leadership is distinguished by four critical qualities: passion, vision, emotional intelligence, and confidence. Leaders who possess these qualities are able to make a positive impact on their institution as Adams did, improving American life through his strong hand on the wheel of the ship. • 27. Planaria Regeneration Lab Report 005594572 Dr. Jones Held This article studies the ability of regeneration possessed by the planaria. Morgan (1898) observes in different methods how the planaria are cut into smaller pieces, and then he observes the pieces to see if the planaria will regenerate. When the planaria are cut near the head, the pieces do not appear to regenerate, and the pieces cut too small also do not possess the ability to regenerate (Morgan, 1898). Pieces cut from the middle and the end piece of the planaria, however, have shown results of respawning from within the old tissue. When the author tried to fuse two sampled pieces together, he observed that the pieces formed a union (Morgan, 1898). However, the fusion did not last long, and the pieces died long after fusing together (Morgan, 1898). It is likely that the samples were not able to complete the regeneration after the union emerged. I will be able to use this report for my lab report as a reference to the process of taking samples from a live planaria, sampled from the likely ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 28. Gangsta Rap And Its Impact On The Rap Game You are now about to witness the strength of street knowledge (Rob,2002). Gangsta rap, music s biggest rebellion formed from this street knowledge. In a pop world where rap was still considered a novelty, it was a serious shock to the system (Rob,2002). N.W.A short for N****s With Attitude affected the rap game in three ways, positively, negatively, and overall. It was twenty years ago that the rap group N.W.A with Ice Cube as its most vital lyricist released its album Straight Outta Compton . They called their music reality rap, everyone else called it gangsta and music history was made. Hip hop music came from the clubs and sidewalks of New York City as party music made with turntables and rhymes by performers who usually couldn t afford music instruments. It was party music and then it came west and got a beat down by a swaggering collective that called itself N.W.A. They took the genre to the dangerous side of the street (Boucher,2008). N.W.A s first album Straight Outta Compton influenced a number of films depicting inner city violence, such as Boyz N The Hood and Menace II Society. N.W.A influenced an attitude change about rap music and its impact. Straight Outta Compton changed what was considered extreme and explicit. N.W.A s music affected people similarly to Nirvana s Nevermind album that introduced grunge in 1991. Their music allowed for a certain freedom. Now rappers were free to speak their minds no matter how explicit their lyrics were. At ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 29. The Dark Side Of Dark Net Markets In a world of ever dwindling freedoms one of the last bastions of completely unregulated and free trade is the deep web, and even though a plethora of dangerous illegal activity goes on within it, it should be left alone. Even if the deep web and all the markets hidden within it are somehow shut down, people will find a new haven to carry on their activity. There will always be a bastion for illegal activity somewhere, and there is nothing anyone can do to change that fact. Dark net markets aren t the only thing hiding in the deep web either, there are entire communities that house themselves within it. Something I find myself pondering quite a bit about these days is that a lot of the technology that has become so embedded in our lives seems so science fiction like, but are we ready for it? Something that we have in our culture that not many people know about is the dark net or deep web. Like a cyberpunk novel, it s an entire underground culture based in the vast world of the internet, our modern day virtual information highway. It is used for all colors of illegal activity; drug trafficking, human trafficking, counterfeit products, a disturbing amount of illegal pornography (most of it is just that, same with the surface web as well), weapons, hitmen, questionable literature, all the things the government veils with its law. The dark net is much more than that, and despite the myriad of illegal endeavors that it is infamous for, the dark net is a vast expanse of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 31. Women’s Roles in Classical Hollywood Cinema Women s roles in movies have changed dramatically throughout the years. As a result of the changing societal norms, women have experienced more transition in their roles than any other class. During the period of classical Hollywood cinema, both society and the film industry preached that women should be dependent on men and remain in home in order to guarantee stability in the community and the family. Women did not have predominated roles in movies such as being the heroin. The 1940 s film Gilda wasn t an exception. In Gilda, the female character mainly had two different stereotypes. Along with chiaroscuro, lighting a dark weather, the femme fatale is one of the main traits of film noir. It is the femme fatale that excites and draws in the audience. These were well illustrated in the film Gilda. The film noir genre develops when Ballin is involved in an illicit and covert business deal with two German businessmen. The deal gets sour when the businessmen want to take back their share but Ballin refuses. Gilda is a typical example of femme fatale in that like many of their male victims, have lost their independence primarily because they married to a man for money basically seeing them as just one more of their owned possessions. Gilda represents a female character who is involved with a man she really doesn t love for the pure motive of cash and financial stability. She is terrified by Ballin but it didn t stop her from marrying him for his money. The opening of Gilda first introduced the object dice as the camera tilts up from ground level revealing the dice and Johnny. Gilda was soon introduced with similar camera techniques. Her head pops up in an empty frame in such a way that puts the emphasis on her lush and luxurious hair and the smile that seems to suggest so much. The movements of these two shots used the same function of introducing Gilda and the dice as objects. • 32. A Successful Business Leadership Style The ultimate aim of this research is to highlight a successful business leadership style. The intention is to research business leadership in the developing countries, and devise a new framework or strategy that can be used by businesses and education systems within developing countries and possibly other Asian countries. This framework would identify the qualities necessary to develop an appropriate leadership style to be an effective leader in organisations operating. This will be achieved by investigating the social and cultural environment and look at how these forces affect the business environment, and in particular the qualities of a good leader within the organisation. The research aims to fill a gap in the existing body of knowledge to do with leadership and management in different regions of the world. LITERATURE REVIEW Background Broadly speaking, leadership can be defined as a process in which an individual influences a group of individuals to work towards the achievement of a common goal or vision (Lussier, 1996; Northouse, 2001; Stogdill, 1974). Moreover, Bush and Coleman (2000) note that since most of what has been written about leadership draws upon western cultural models, it should be borne in mind that leadership might well be viewed differently in different cultures. The difference between leadership and management is vividly encapsulated in Bass s model of transformational and transactional leadership styles. Transformational leaders ... • 34. Exercise Is A Good And Normal Way For Lose Weight Did you know, the percent of adults who are obese in the United States is 34.9% now, and it was continually getting larger in the recent years (CDC)? What a surprise that more than 1 out of 3 adults are obese in our country. Obesity can cause various health problems, such as high blood pressure, diabetes, coronary heart disease, or even directly cause death. So, it is time to control and prevent obesity. Exercise is a good and normal way to lose weight, but Melinda Moyer discusses about another way, reducing the amount of carbs in people s daily lives. She leads readers to explore the relation between carbs rich diet and obesity or chronic disease. Even though some other theories like low fat diet were supported in the history, more facts and evidence prove that low carbs diet is the best way to solve the problem. Moyer uses pathos, ethos and logos to persuade her audience to against carbs, and choose low carb diet in her article Against The Grains. Pathos is the strategy that is used in some sections of the article to appeal to audience s emotions. Moyer promptly attracts readers attention by starting the article with her own experience of weight loss. She says she lost 15 pounds because of the wheat free diet (Moyer 2). • 35. U.s. Cuban Relations With Cuba Although Obama s desire for better relations with Cuba is an important factor in the normalization of US Cuban relations, the most important factor is a change in national opinion towards Cuba, a second image analysis. In 1998, a poll by ABC News indicated that 38% of Americans believed that diplomatic relations should be re established with Cuba (Polling Report). A similar poll conducted in 2015 by USA Today/Gallup put that number at 61% (Polling Report). Any political decision is strongly influenced by public opinion. Obama s decision to normalize US Cuban relations is only possible because more people, particularly Cuban Americans, are open to the idea of better relations between the two nations. Historically, many Cubans have moved to the US to flee persecution and oppression under the dictatorial Cuban government. Traditionally they have been the strongest opponents against US Cuban rapprochement, but in recent decades this opposition has eased considerably. This may be because of a generational shift in the Cuban American community, as second and third generation Cuban Americans have become more tolerant and welcome towards greater openness between the two countries. In 2000, the Elian Gonzalez custody and immigration battle highlighted the anger still prevalent in the Cuban American community. A motherless Cuban boy was returned to his father in Cuba, which incited great fury among the Cuban American community that the government would send a child fleeing Cuba ... • 36. Hockey Is The Most Elite Level Of Hockey The National Hockey League, also known as the NHL, is the most elite level of hockey in the world. With seven teams playing in Canada, the sport s country of origin, and twenty three teams in the United States, hockey has become a favorite sport to watch globally. Hockey is full of high speed, agility, skill, and is widely famous for its violence. Fans love and adore the sport for its glorification of fighting, or best known in hockey as fisticuffs. Before the NHL was founded in 1917, fighting had already been a strong and defining characteristic of the sport. Adam Proteau of The Hockey News wrote an article on the history of fighting; fisticuffs credit its roots back as far as the late 1800s. Proteau continues with, originally, fighting in hockey was frowned upon and looked at by the media as classless and unnecessary. Proteau also states, ironically, with the media making fighting such a big deal, it actually, in turn, created more fans and increased attendance during the hockey games (Proteau). More recently, fighting has become a very controversial issue in the NHL. Veteran players, sports journalists and physicians have argued against the physicality and necessity of fighting and the dangers that ensue. Like the National Football League (NFL), the NHL has been scrutinized and plagued with a plethora of player concussions, and even deaths, which, recently, has sparked a strong debate on whether or not fighting should be banned in the NHL. • 37. Summary Of The Reclaiming The American Dream Report In the Reclaiming the American Dream report (AACC, 2012), seven recommendations were suggested to meet the needs of the students, as well as having a strong community college system. Hence, these recommendation address redesigning students educational experiences, reinventing institutional roles, and resetting the system to create incentives for students and institutional triumphs. Recommendation One A section of recommendation one is to increase completion rates of students earning community college credentials (certificates and associate degrees) by fifty percent by 2020. (AACC, 2012 p. 26). Although recommendation one is certainly obtainable, completing the goal by 2020 is doubtful. As an administrator, in order to see a goal this large come to manifestation, everyone has to get on the bus, and asking the same question who instead of what then, and only then will a goal this large will manifest ( Collins, 2001). However, utilizing particular strategies to accomplish the goal will help toward achieving the goal. In doing that, students would be served more effectively and more efficiently, because staff and faculty would be more intentional regarding the service rendered. Affective academic advising is an essential and sure way to promote students retention (O Banion, 1997). In addition, using strategies to construct coherent, structured pathways to complete degrees, promote transfers from community colleges to four year institutions, and to assist students ... • 39. Childhood Is Common For All Children Childhood is common to all children, however it is fragmented and constructed by the diversity of children s lives (James James, 2004). Childhood is both a historically and culturally constructed process, as before the Middle Ages the concept of childhood did not exist, children had no distinctive social status compared with adults (James James, 2004). Moreover, in a contemporary society children are active participants in their own social worlds, childhood has become a very cultural process, how adults see children and the way they behave towards them shapes children s lived experiences (James James, 2004). In society adults have unwritten, invisible control over children and regulate their lives to a certain extent. Space therefore places an important role on how adults obtain their regulation over children, and to what extent children can resist their control. For example, within cyberspace children are much more resistant to control as adults cannot control what is online. As result as this children are almost free agents to learn and explore, and it also gives children with physical disabilities the chance to be a normal child online. Nevertheless, control over children has increased hugely over the years as today the natural innocence of children is being questioned and children are becoming subject to tighter regimes of surveillance and new forms of ordering (James James, 2004). Moreover this results in the regulation and control of children s cultures ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
