Short Essay on Coalition Governments in India
India won her independence in 1947 and for winning this independence Congress, as a political party,
played the predominant role.
The leaders of the Congress party, then, were great leaders stalwarts really dedicated to the cause and
to the party which they served. Mahatma Gandhi was the undisputed leader and there were leaders of
such caliber as Jawahar Lai Nehru, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, Dr. Rajendra Prasad, C.
Rajagopalacharya, Pattabhi Sitaramayya, Sarojini Naidu, Subhash Chandra Bose and a host of others
of all castes and all creeds.
Among Muslims, there were Khan Abdul Gaffar Khan, Abul Kalam Azad, Rafi Ahmed Kidwai and
among the lower castes lower castes as then was called Kamraj in South and Dr. B.R. Ambedkar.

There had started a gradual decline in the overall governance of the country and the worst ever shock
was received by the country in the Chinese aggression in 1962 in which India had to suffer a great
humiliation for which Krishna Menon, as the Defense Minister was largely responsible.
Further on, on the economic front also, the government in power failed to remove the disparities
between the rich and the poor, rather the disparities increased, and there started a voice being raised
regarding the backward classes who were regarded as economically backward and a further class of
Other Backward Classes , other than the scheduled castes and scheduled tribes came into being and
Chaudhary Charan Singh, otherwise and originally a Congressman became the leader and the
champion of the Backward classes.
During the regime of Indira Gandhi, politics had declined to manipulations and maneuverings to
remain in power and the mobilisation of money and muscle power and the media, the law interpreting
authorities and the educational system all these were attempted to be managed in her favour.
Just after gaining independence, Mahatma Gandhi had suggested that congress as a political party
should be disbanded. That of course, was not done but under Indira Gandhi a vertical rupture took
place in the party with a number of old stalwarts deserting the party, forming into Congress (O) under
Nijalingappa and Indira Gandhi formed her own group and this was named as Congress (I) of

Essay On Australian Federal Budget
Federal Budget (describe, outline aim and purpose)
The Australian federal Budget is the Government s annual financial report that sets out Australia s
proposed fiscal income and spending for the upcoming year through careful planning and prudent
saving. The budget provides structure, financial record and discloses Australia s priorities by
providing allocated funding to specific sectors and departments of state. The budget aims to establish
and stimulate a stable economy, invest in Australia s future and provide a fairer tax and welfare
system.
Budgetary measures and their impacts

Receiving an extra income will increase consumer spending and benefit firms, therefore promoting
economic consumption. Government expenditure will also steadily decrease overtime.
Budgetary measure 2: Foreign Aid
The 2015 budget has revealed Foreign aid contributions will be reduced by a further $3.7 billion over
the next three years in an attempt to tighten Australia s border security.
Using the latest technology, Australian border forces and investing $35 billion, the government aims
to reduce the threat of terrorism at our borders in an effort to keep our country secure.
Foreign aid aims to reduce poverty and create sustainable economic growth and development in the
Indo Pacific regions whilst promoting Australia s national interests. Australian aid helps to provide
access to safe drinking water for 2.9 million more people and enable 1.4 million more children to
enrol in school.
These cuts will result in a decrease of government expenditure and an increase in household tax. Firms
will suffer, with little support from the government sector, reducing the circular flow of income.
Household savings will increase, as they will be paying more in tax. Firms will then be impacted
because consumers will be spending

J. Edgar Hoover s Skills
J. Edgar Hoover was born on January 1st, 1895. Growing up, I believe J. Edgar Hoover learned his
skills while still in school. He was on the debate team in highschool, which helped him with his public
speaking, and he also learned some leadership skills while in college. He didn t have to join the army
after finishing school, because he had to take care of his mom. He eventually graduated college near
the top of his class, with a Bachelor s Degree in law, which led him to his first job in the Department
of Justice, starting out as a Clerk. Here, he went through the ranks of the Department pretty fast,
because most men were going into the army, which left open positions. After rising through the ranks
of the Department of Justice, he eventually was appointed as the director of the then known as,
General Bureau of Investigation. After becoming Director, he immediately was involved in taking
down several big criminals of the time. Some people thought that these criminals were good, because
they d sometimes help out the people they robbed, which were mostly banks. However, after he took
these people down, people s minds were changed about him, and the Agency.
J. Edgar Hoover liked to take credit for things he did not do. There was one incident where New York
Police were after a very popular murderer at the time, who had kidnapped and killed a young boy.
When J. Edgar Hoover flew there to try to help(for the publicity), he was turned away by the current

Two specific advertising methods used are called Performance advertising and Brand advertising.
Performance advertising delivers relevant, text based, advertisements that users click on in order to
directly engage with the advertiser. This is done though an auction based advertising program called
AdWord. Through this method clients (the advertisers) pay Google in a cost per click base. In other
words, it recognizes revenue every time, and only if, a Google user clicks on a client s advertisement.
On the other hand Brand advertising uses videos, text images etc. which runs through different devices
and reaches specific audiences. With this method, which seeks to promote brand recognition, revenues
are recognized through cost per impression basis. The cost per impression approach means that the
client is billed based on the number of times their ads display on Google websites and Network
Members websites. (Investor, 50)
Other revenue generators include but are not limited to the sales of Telecommunication Equipment
such as android cellular phones. Google either sells these devices directly to customers through a
website or it sells through distributors. In both cases revenues are recognized when the device has
shipped, risk of loss has transferred to the customer, objective evidence exists that customer
acceptance provisions have been met, no significant obligations remain and

How Technology Has Affected Healthcare
Our world runs on technology. The introduction of the home personal computer and the internet
launched our society to a modernized, technology depended community. Vast array of information are
available to us every minute of every day. If any of us have a question that we needed the answer to,
all we have to do is use Bing or Google or some other search engine and search for the answer. It is so
easy now to obtain information. Furthermore, technology has greatly affected healthcare. Due to the
technological advances in medicine, our society has the longest life span in history. Illnesses such as
infections, wounds and other ailments that used to be fatal can now be cured by simply ingesting
medicine. An aspect of medicine that is gradually becoming the focus of technological advancement is
surgery. Surgeries can now be performed with the help of robots. The utilization of these robotic
surgical systems is one of the main controversial issues many physicians debate about. The
uncertainty as to what extent technology should influence medicine makes this issue interesting.
Robotic surgery was first imagined from the idea that surgeons can operate on a patient without being
in the same room, which was explored by NASA and the military in the 1970s and 1980s. The first
ever surgery system that uses robotic technology is the da Vinci Surgical System. The da Vinci
Surgical System was approved by the FDA in 2000. This system includes a camera arm and
mechanical arms with surgical

The Role Of Exceptional Leaders During The New Republic Era
Exceptional leaders are key to the development of new countries. This was especially true during the
New Republic Era, spanning from the late 1700s to the early 1800s, in which the first five presidents
worked to lead the fragile, weak nation from infancy into a developed nation with a great
infrastructure. George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, and James Monroe all guided the nation using
advantageous foreign and domestic policies toward a brighter, more prosperous nation.
George Washington was the first leader to save the nation from debt and unnecessary conflict with
other nations. He instituted a series of tariffs and taxes during the first years of his presidency, 1790 to
1791, to help lift the burden of debt off of the nation s back. It showed that George Washington cared
about the new nation and used his leadership to try to help solve the nation s many problems. George
Washington created a policy of neutrality on April 22, 1793, called the Neutrality Proclamation
because he knew the US was too young and too unprepared to fight in any war. It saved the United
States from having to be included in impractical, inconclusive European wars that ... Show more

industrial centers in the eastern states and then to the European market. Jefferson undertook his
responsibility of showing America s power by engaging in the Tripoli Wars which showed European
powers that the US was a fighting force not to be reckoned with. By proving the army and navy were
capable of war, Jefferson built the foundation of the US s emergence as a world power and later a

The Princess And The Frog Comparison
The Princess and the Frog and Frozen are both major Disney successes. They teach golden morals and
important life lessons. But they did not originate as such. These stories began as a Brother Grimm s
fairy tale and a Hans Christian Andersen fairy tale, dark and harsh were the only feelings they
portrayed. While there are a few parallels between the two versions, much of them is different because
of the period it was written. The morals of The Grimm Brothers time and that of 2000 s Disney is
quite different. The Frog King by the Grimm Brothers was originally published in German in 1812. It
was the story of a young, beautiful princess that adored playing with a golden ball. One day as she is
tossing the ball around, it falls into a nearby well. The princess is distraught, and her weeping draws
the attention of a frog. The frog promises the princess he can retrieve the golden ball, but only for
something in exchange. The princess offers her clothing, jewels, even her crown, but ... Show more

A Critical outline of the main features of Functionalism,...
Sociology, the study of society; has been adapted by many sociologists so as to put across their own
theories. The most important Sociologists of the early 19th century were Emile Durkeim, Karl Marx
and Max Weber; a common factor with all these men is that they were all influenced by the world in
which they lived.
I intend to, throughout this essay, explain these three different theories, evaluate them and also
critically outline their main features.
The Functionalist sees society as built up and working like the human body, made up of interrelated
parts, which function for or contribute to the maintenance of society as a whole. (Cited: Browne.K.
Introducing Sociology , 2002). Functionalists are concerned with how the different parts ... Show

He saw society as a structure, which was divided into two parts, the infrastructure and the
superstructure. The Infrastructure shapes the superstructures, in other words; the economic system will
shape the rest of society.
Marx saw contradictions in all societies; for example, in a capitalist society there is a conflict of
interest. The company owners employ the workers at a low rate but subsequently gain substantial
profits and rewards. In this instance one group gains, at the expense of the other. Marx believed there
would eventually be a revolt against the ruling classes (capitalist). This would result in the
disappearance of the classes and therefore the disappearance of oppression and exploitation. This
could only happen if the subject class knew they were being exploited but this would take time
because the
infrastructure was far more powerful. Another problem for the subject class was that political and
legal systems were in favour of capitalism, this aided class domination. Therefore, capitalism was seen
to be just and reasonable rather than oppressive and exploitive. Marx believed that capitalism would
eventually destroy itself.
A criticism of Marxism is that it sees individuals as a product of their social system, and pictures
people as unable to make up their own, minds and take initiative. Cristianity was a

Critique Of The Striped Blanket
The Striped Blanket
In 1911 Louie B. Felt was walking through the park when she saw a handicapped child. After seeing
the handicapped child it inspired Louie to dedicate a hospital to help children. That hospital is now
called Primary Children s Hospital. Thousands of individual children receive extraordinary care each
year at Primary Children s, provided in an atmosphere of love.
Primary Children s Hospital had been serving in the Salt lake City area since the early twentieth
centuries. The hospital first began as a church sponsored organization that opened a 33 bed facility.
The 33 bed facility opened in an old home that was located across the road form the Latter Day Saints
temple square. When the hospital first opened its doors it was called the LDS hospital due to the fact
that it was sponsored by the LDS church( History Primary Children s Hospital).
When the children would have their surgeries they would be done at the main hospital and soon after
they were done they would be moved to the primary facility to heal. If a patient was critically ill or
chronic they would be hospitalized in the main hospital. If the patient was hospitalized the parents
would rarely get to see their child which was heartbreaking. Parents weren t allowed to see their child
due to the chance of infections or diseases. When the hospital first opened it had to be very careful
with diseases because medicine was not as advanced as it is now. (History Primary Children s
Hospital).

Koch (Professor of Hygiene and Microbiology, Berlin, 1843 1910) first recognized the cause of
infective foci as secondary to microbial growth in his 19th century postulates. Semmelweis (Austrian
obstetrician,
1818 1865) demonstrated a 5 fold reduction in puerperal sepsis by hand washing between performing
postmortem examinations and entering the delivery room. Joseph Lister (Professor of Surgery,
London,
1827 1912) and Louis Pasteur (French bacteriologist, 1822 1895) revolutionized the entire concept of
wound infection. Lister recognized that antisepsis could prevent infection.[1] In 1867, Lister placed
carbolic acid into open fractures to sterilize the wound and to prevent sepsis and hence the need for
amputation. In 1871, Lister began to use carbolic spray in the operating room to reduce contamination.
However, the concept of wound suppuration persevered even among eminent surgeons, such as John

As late as the 19th century, aseptic surgery was not routine practice. Sterilization of instruments began
in the 1880s as did the wearing of gowns, masks, and gloves. Halsted (Professor of Surgery, Johns

The Psychological Factors Of Coca-Cola s Advertising Campaign
When it comes to mass marketing, perhaps no one does it better than Coca Cola. Coca Cola is
successful in its recent advertising campaign Share a Coke . The main target audience of this
advertising campaign are teens and young adults. [Creamglobal.com, 2015] Coca Cola had replaced
its logo on the cans with the personal names of its customers. With that, those customers were asked to
share the customised Coca Cola bottles on social media platforms such as Facebook, Instagram or

factors into consideration, Coca Cola put emphasis on personalization and bring a sense of ownership
of the brand to its consumers. It also engages consumers and encourages them to share the special
moments with their families and friends. As a result, Coca Cola has successfully strengthened the
emotional ties with its consumers by triggering their feelings. Coca Cola believed early on that to gain

Importance Of A Piece Of Writing
When you read an article, a book, a newspaper, or even a letter, often times you do not think of all the
complexities that the piece of writing incorporates. Every word, every sentence, every idea expressed
is carefully thought out before it is presented in writing. This is because the writer must keep in mind
their audience whilst they write, some might even go as far as to say that the writer has obligations to
the reader. On the other hand, if you stop to contemplate it, you realize that writing is equally
important to the writer as it is to the comprehensibility of the reader. Both types of people play a
crucial role in making a piece of writing what it is. I stand in agreement with authors Mark Twain and
Ursula K. Le Guin, along with an anonymous English professor at Ohio University, who all make
claims that correspond to one greater message that the teamwork between writers and readers is what
promotes the success of a piece of writing. Mark Twain heavily emphasizes the importance of
proofreading writing for clarity. Referring to the revision of a written piece, Twain says, The time to
begin writing an article is when you have finished it to your satisfaction. By that time you begin to
clearly and logically perceive what it is you really want to say. Twain is saying that once you have
written your piece, you have only finished putting your thoughts into words on the paper, but it isn t a
well crafted piece of writing just yet; the first draft isn t the final. You

Tuberculosis As A Infectious Disease
Tuberculosis (TB) is a highly infectious disease that can harm any organ of the body, especially the
lungs. Every year about over a million people die due to tuberculosis and even more are infected. A
person in contact with an infected individual can easily put themselves at risks of getting TB. Due to
the emergence of human immunodeficiency virus (HIV), tuberculosis infections commenced to
increment more rapidly. A person with HIV has an impotent immune system which is not able to fight
infections such as tuberculosis. There are many ways to diagnose, prevent and treat the further spread
of this disease.

Sputum tests may be required for testing if the chest x ray reveals signs of TB.
Tuberculosis can spread by contagious airborne droplets that are passed on easily through close
contact with a person who has active or untreated TB. As a person coughs, sneezes, or interacts, it can
relinquish infectious droplets into the air. Once a person inhales the infectious droplet (bacillus), it
settles in the upper airways. Bacteria in droplets that bypass the mucociliary system and reach the
alveoli are expeditiously circumvented and engulfed by alveolar macrophages, the most abundant
immune effector cells present in alveolar spaces (Knechel, 2009). These macrophages are a
component of the immune system that fights to destroy the mycobacteria to obviate infection. The
outcome is essentially determined by the quality of the host bulwarks and the balance that occurs
between host bulwarks and the invading mycobacteria (Knechel, 2009). If the alveolar macrophage
fails to overcome the inhaled mycobacteria, the bacteria will replicate until the macrophage lysis. As
the monocytes are magnetized to the infection site, it then separates into macrophages and consumes
the free bacilli. The mycobacteria then multiply within the macrophages causing it to become infected.
The infected macrophages may then be transported to the lymph nodes where it can easily reach the
blood stream. After two to three weeks of infection, the helper T cells are

Ramifications Of Racial Discrimination
This is a very touchy subject with police and the black community. If he s going around stopping all
races or genders in that neighborhood for stuff like that then I don t see anything wrong with it. The
video didn t show us his everyday habits, he could be doing the same to white people in the same
neighborhood or he could be just singling out black people. Regardless of race I feel that the stop was
unnecessary the only thing the man did was show slight signs of suspicion. This seemed procedural
but over the top. He didn t have to go as far as patting him down the man clearly didn t look nervous
or intimidated so he didn t need to pat him down. The ramifications of this is people start to feel
discriminated against and there becomes a tension

The Intellectual Rise of Islam
The Intellectual Rise of Islam
The Islamic Golden age provided the Abbasid Caliphate with an immense amount of political power
and influence. The empire controlled lands from West Africa to parts of current day Iran and the new
capital, Baghdad, quickly developed to into a large and advanced city . With control over previous
Greek, Egyptian, and Persian lands, the locality of the empire set base for the academic, philosophical
and medicinal advancement that define the Islamic Golden Age. Several schools of thought began
setting up in Baghdad, such as Gundishapur which brought Greek medicine, science, and philosophy
to the Islamic culture. Schools like these helped Islamic scholars to learn from these texts in order to
build their own thoughts and treatises. The pursuit for academic advancement in fields of philosophy,
technology, and medicine defines the Golden Age of Islam at it allowed a proliferation of scholars
from different regions to study under one empire and one language. The size and stability of the
Caliphate of the time proves their political and economic power, however the success of the society
would not have amounted to its potential if it were not for the academic advances that flourished
throughout this time period. The translation of Hellenic philosophers provided the stepping stone for
Islamic philosophy. For example, Islamic Neoplatonism began flourishing under the first systematic
philosopher of Islam, Abu Nasr al Farabi. His texts, which mirrored

Italian Literature Paper. “It Is Not Possible To Sink Lower
Italian Literature Paper It is not possible to sink lower than this; no human condition is more miserable
than this, nor could it conceivably be so (Levi 1238). This quote comes from Primo Levi s story On
the Bottom , where the audience gets a view of the vile and unspeakable event known today as the
Holocaust. This event influenced Italian literature, taught people a great deal about the jewish culture,
and showed people the true evil in history. To begin, the Jewish faith is one of the oldest major
religions and the first to believe in one God. The religion itself originated with the Hebrew people of
the middle east, and it is based on God, Torah, and Israel. Jewish people follow a basic set of ethical
codes, known as the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Rosh Ha Shannah is the Jewish New Year, that celebrates the creation of the world and God s rule
over it. This is one of the holiest days of the year for the Jews, along with Yom Kippur. One of the
many examples of Jewish customs are the dietary laws. These can be found in Leviticus and
Deuteronomy. Any Jew who chooses to follow these rules, do not eat pork or shellfish such as shrimp
or oysters. Meat and milk products are stored separately and are not served at the same meal. They
refrain from eating any milk products for several hours after eating meat. Meat killed from a ritual
slaughter known as Shehitah is the only meat they are allowed to eat. At the age of 13 boys and girls
are to fulfill a religious obligation through the Bar MItzvah (Bat Mitzvah for girls). This is a ceremony
in which they are recognized as adults responsible for fulfilling the obligations of Judaism (Magid). At
the same time the Jewish faith was developing, so was Italian literature. Italian literature was greatly
influenced by a movement known as futurism during the 1900 s. Language and metaphors glorified
the violence of the time period. Themes with problems of personal identity and absurdity of reality
were common (Cherchi). After World War II ended, a variety of different literary styles emerged. This
included magical realism, absurd plays, and protest literature. Each new type of literature shared an
aesthetic that became postmodernism. This was a way to

Topic Conveying History
The author begins to talk about Harvard Historian, Samuel Morison. Morison had a different way of
conveying history compared to your average history text book. As Zin puts it that one can lie about the
past or tell facts that lead to conclusions found as unacceptable then concluding that Morison does
neither (8). Which means that Samuel tells the truth and only the truth about his subject. Which
provides an interesting take on retelling history based on how it s told. That way is by stating facts of

A Study of Outsiders Integrating Into a Puritan Community...
Popular mythology conjures up images of Puritan New England as a pious, homogenous, agrarian
community, a Citty upon a Hill intended to inspire the English homeland to turn to Puritan ways.(1)
However, Puritan New England was more than a collection of small, agrarian communities. The
harbors of New England supported shipping and fishing industries, and abundant timber and ore
supplies inspired the Puritans of North America to pursue a colonial version of the English iron
industry. These new American Ironworks required skilled labor; it was not possible simply to take the
offspring of Puritan farmers and merchants and turn them into iron workers. The experienced, skilled
laborers needed were mostly recruited from England and, generally, ... Show more content on

The Puritans of New England were not renowned for their willingness to accept outsiders into their
communities. According to The book of the general lauus and libertyes concerning the inhabitants of
the Massachusets, individuals, and whole towns, were statutorily prohibited from allowing any
stranger to reside within the jurisdiction for more than three weeks without permission from a
magistrate.(3) As an illustration, in May 1663 John Emery was charged with harboring Quakers, and
also was presented on suspicion of breaking the law in entertaining Mr Greenland four months. (4) A
cursory reading of the Essex court records reveals that Greenland was a doctor who was singularly
unsuccessful in controlling his carnal lust. A more detailed recitation of his exploits is unnecessary
here, but as a stranger to the community, Greenland s behavior made him undesirable to that
community, and the community had an interest in, and took action toward, securing his removal. In
fact, six citizens even went so far as to file an additional suit against Emery, [f]or breach of a town
order of Newbery, in entertaining Mr. Greenland to the great prejudice of the town. (5) But why would
a community that refused to tolerate an amorous physician extend toleration to a family of rude,
profane iron workers? The answer may lie in some combination of the Leonards relationship to the
church and the relative scarcity of the

The Symbols Of Robert Frost s The Road Not Taken
Robert Frost went from an unstable farmer aspiring to be a poet to a celebrated American poet and
four time Pulitzer Prize winner. In his poem The Road Not Taken , he writes about the hard choices
that people have to make in their lives. Robert uses extended metaphors and symbolism to show the
uncertainty and psychological chaos people feel while making hard choices. Robert was born in San
Francisco, California on March 26th, 1874. His parents, William Prescott Frost and Isabelle Moodie
were both teachers ( Robert 1). William and Isabelle met while they were both teaching in
Pennsylvania and fell in love. In 1884 William Frost died, leaving his wife and son on their own. The
family struggles financially since they were only receiving one check instead of two (Encyclopedia 1).
Throughout elementary and middle school, Robert surprisingly didn t like going to school. He would
have rather been playing football or baseball with his friends. His mother made him realize the
importance of an education just in time for high school (American 1). In 1892 he graduated high
school as a valedictorian along with Elinor White. Robert was accepted into Dartmouth college and
only finished one term. Robert and Elinor got accepted into different and when she wouldn t agree

Relevance For The Post 2015 Mdgs Agenda
CONFLICT AND DEVELOPMENT
Relevance for the post 2015 MDGs agenda
Conflict is a relatively new concept in development, and the relation between the two is complex and
remains not entirely understood. However, and given that the correlation among insecurity and
development is clear, there is a general consensus in arguing that development cannot happen without
security. In 2015, end of the Millennium Development Goals cycle, fragile and conflict affected
countries are lagging far behind other developing countries in meeting these goals. Thus, the success
of the MDGs is threatened and it depends, to a great extent, in the way conflict is addressed. We do
believe that including a security related target in the post 2015 agenda is essential ... Show more

This new approach of understanding development, known as human development, gives its due to
conflict in explaining development or the lack of it.
Although today related to negative outcomes, war has not always had the same impact. Indeed, many
authors such as Tilly (1985) and Bates (2010) have analyzed how conflict led to the creation of States
in Europe during the 14th and 15th century. According to them, the presence of wars and the need for
protection raised because rural areas became wealthier as their population density decreased. This
demographic change was mainly due to the progress of manufacturing and its consequent
urbanization. To be successful at war, monarchs needed new sources of capital that were obtained
through taxation, leading to the creation of a more complex bureaucratic system necessary to collect
these taxes. Of course, individuals resisted to taxation, so monarchs had to bargain with citizens and
concede some power in return for taxes. This way, monarchs gradually limited their own power,
igniting the state building process, and laying the groundwork for future democracy and growth.
However, Europe s conditions of state formation were not replicated in developing countries later, due
to a radically different context. Amid the Cold War, rulers in less developed countries could obtain
their resources through foreign aid,

Love And Cruelty In James Hurst s The Scarlet Ibis
Love and cruelty are two feelings that are so different, yet they are very similar. Cruelty can be
changed and conquered by love, turning into a proud, and wonderful thing. Yet, love can still fall apart
against the harshness of cruelty. James Hurst represents this idea through his characters, Doodle and
Brother, in his work, The Scarlet Ibis . Doodle is born with a caul around his head and grows up
crippled and physically limited. Brother is ashamed of Doodle s limitations and teaches Doodle how
to walk, run, climb, fight and swim. Hurst uses the symbols of the storm and the scarlet ibis to
demonstrate the cruelty and the love in Doodle and Brother s relationship, ultimately showing how
even the strongest of relationships can end.
The storm is used to symbolize Brother s cruelty towards Doodle. Doodle is born with a membrane
surrounding his head, a caul. Because of this, Brother is embarrassed and ashamed of Doodle not
being normal . Brother so much thought of killing Doodle to remove his problem although he never
actually did. Yet one day while Brother is watching Doodle in his crib, he sees Doodle smile and
realizes that he does have a brother in there. This inspires Brother to try and teach Doodle how to do
basic things any kid his age should be able to do. After having spent a lot of time with Doodle, Brother
has an epiphany and realizes he did not do this because of love, he did it because he is embarrassed
and ashamed of having a crippled brother. Yet one day while

Sir John Everett Millais s Ophelia
To begin, Ophelia is one of Shakespeare s well known character that he created in Hamlet. There has
been examination about how Ophelia in Hamlet is as a character but the way she is brought forth in
Hamlet suggests that she is a woman that is one dimensional so to speak but to she has the potential to
become a tragic heroine. One that is capable of not using her adversities that are inflicted upon her but
instead crumbles into insanity and finally just becomes tragic compared to a tragic heroine.
¬Particularly, the painting by Sir John Everett Millais was completed by 1852 and is based on Ophelia
in Hamlet. This painting (Image 1) is one of the best known illustrations from Shakespeare s play
Hamlet . The Ophelia painting is located at the Tate Museum in London. This painting displays
Ophelia tragic death, he displays her the moment she falls into the stream and drowns surrounded by
luscious greenery. This painting was done in two separate locations, the landscape which is the
background was painted outside while the figure of Ophelia indoors with a young woman model for

Throughout his artistic career, he was able to accomplish many works, but one of his fame is Ophelia
due to the story he tells in this piece. His techniques for painting female portraits developed at a young
age, but he was able to expand his ability to incorporate a story within a portrait. This is what he
accomplished in Ophelia because he brings meaning to the painting due to the play it is based on as
well as the usage of the surrounding scenery. The surrounding scenery is placed around Ophelia thus
making her the certain point for the viewer s eyes to be drawn to. Sir John Everett Millais brings the
essence of Ophelia into this painting by his ability to capture her whole life in one piece due to the
knowledge that Shakespeare was able to inform him in the play

Snow Flower And The Secret Fan Summary
The Golden Lotus Lisa See s novel Snow Flower and the Secret Fan is narrated by an eighty year old
Lily as she reflects back on her life in China during the 1800 s. Lily s story begins in her early life
when she is six years old a diviner and matchmaker, both tell Lily s mother to take special care with
her foot binding for she had the potential of having them be perfect. The story continues through the
process of Lily and her surrounding female relatives foot binding experience until she is eleven and
her feet have healed perfectly resulting in the golden lotus. This perfect foot binding grants her an

home. The rest of the tale is about ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Some say that this was a way for men to hold dominance over a female due to the fact that she could
not run away with such fragile feet. The bound feet are also thought to have shown social class if a
family could bind the feet of a member of their family, hence they did need that person to work, it
showed a greater social status. From this book s perspective, it was a duty a daughter could perform in
order to secure a prosperous marriage, thereby providing financial security for her family and herself.
Men desired these golden lotus feet and so women made the physical sacrifice to show their virtue and
dedication to being a virtuous wife. At one point in the book, Lily and Snow Flower must flee from
rebel warriors and hike up a snowy mountain, granted this is a fictitious story but the foot binding did
not cause these women to be immobile. The women in the story experienced horrific pain during this
trek until the snow helped numb their feet, but I imagine that anyone that had experienced the five to
seven years it took to bind their feet and then learned to perform daily task on those feet could carry
them a long while if they wanted to escape their marriages. It is my opinion that the fear of starvation
or worse possibilities for a woman would keep a woman in a marriage during these times, they did not
need to reshape their feet. In addition,

Stung Have you ever felt extreme pain before? The type of pain that brings you to your knees,
howling out in pain? When I got stung by a jellyfish, I felt that type of pain. We were driving our boat

faces. Colorful fish darted away fast as fighter jets as our boat drifted through the water. My brother,
mom, dad, uncle and I were riding out to the German Channel, a popular diving site that also had
many beaches. We re here! my uncle shouted as he powered off the engine. We climbed off the boat
and onto the beach. I tossed off my slippers and felt the soft sand beneath my feet. What is this?! my
brother exclaimed as he pointed at a black object that had just washed up shore. As I moved closer I
saw that it was a sea cucumber! Come over here! I yelled. My brother and I walked over to a part of
the beach protected from the sun by tall palm trees. Our mom came over and handed us old, wood
sticks pulled of from trees. We all wrote our names in the sand and took a picture. Then my brother
and I proceeded back out to the unshaded beach and we started digging a big hole. Using some pails
we had brought, we went back and forth dumping pail after pail full of water into our little hole, until
finally we had our own little pool! Why make a pool here, when the whole ocean is waiting for you

Minority Report Essay
But Minority Report attempts so much more. It brings a spiritual angle into the story with calculated
deliberation. And that angle is the issue of predetermination versus free will, as
Anderton himself admits in the movie. A Detective from the U.S. Justice Department, Ed
Witwer, played by Colin Farrel, shows up to investigate the effectiveness of the precogs and to search
for the human error inherent in any such endeavor. He is sure there is such a weakness because as he
says, these are humans and humans can be wrong. Witwer is already convinced that the future cannot

In fact, Witwer points out that it doesn t matter how accurate oracles are, people make oracles out of
others even if there aren t any. Man is by nature religious and he constructs religious content to
explain otherwise unexplained natural phenomena. This is decidedly demythologization.
Demythology is a modernist western prejudice of the naturalistic worldview. Naturalism assumes by
faith that there is no transcendent spiritual aspect to reality. Everything has natural causes. All spiritual
beliefs are simply ignorant misinterpretations of natural causes into spiritual forces; wish fulfillment.
Demythology is the attempt to purge the mythic ignorance of a belief to discover the true natural
cause. This is a continuation of a theme that Spielberg explored in much more detail in his rendition of
Stanley Kubrik s A.I.2 This evolutionary worldview tries to redefine man as a being who constructs or
projects his own meaning of God and spirit onto what is actually a meaningless universe of matter in
motion. The belief in the afterlife is merely an extension of the evolutionary survival of the fittest. As
the originator of the precogs tells Anderton, When the chips are down,

Us Occupation In Japan Research Paper
The occupation in Japan was fully American controlled project. In order to achieve the goals in the
Potsdam declaration, the US performed political, economic, social, and educational reform in Japan.
The US strategy to achieve the goals was demilitarization, disarmament, and democratization. Before
the US occupation, Japan had a fascist regime, which was an obstruction to democracy since
authoritarianism did not accept democratic ideals. With authoritarianism in Japan, parliaments did not
control government; national economic development was pursued; and militarism was a major
instrument in foreign policy. It was important to work towards the goal of reconstructing fascist
regime and ideology to introduce democracy. The US occupation in Japan was successful in that it not

the US stipulated had the political rationale to create anti communist society in Japan. Similar to the

removed the emperor worship and militarism from school textbooks and curriculums. They purged
teachers who supported authoritarianism and encouraged teachers to liberalize the education. By
eliminating militarism and ultra nationalism from Japanese education, the US sought to construct
peaceful principles in the Japanese future. The US occupation in Japan can be called successful
because the US achieved to build a nation following the laws of the newly created Anglo American
constitution. Although the economic reconstruction had a mixed result, the civil liberties such as

Anasazi Tribe Research Paper
The Anasazi, a tribe of Native American Indians who lived in Colorado, among other places, around
the 13th century, were a civilization of mystery. The Anasazi traveled among parts of Colorado, Utah,
Arizona, and New Mexico. The inhabited the Four Corners and roamed the areas from approximately
A.D. 200 to A.D. 1300. The tribe of Native American Indians moved from place to place quite often,
leaving parts of their history scattered through what is commonly known as the Four Corners in North
America. They were a culture that knew how to use their resources in the barren lands of Colorado,

The Four Corners in North America was commonly known for its erratic nature patterns, with rainfall
being scarce, making growth hard even for the scrubby sagebrush and tough pinon and juniper trees
that fell across the land (Dold). The Anasazi knew how to adapt to these changes by moving quiet
often. The Anasazi changed residences frequently, often settling in an area for fifty to one hundred
years at a time (Bell). Hunger induced cannibalism typically occurs in groups that are trapped (Dolde).
This information provides another key to the theory of the Anasazi tribe being invaded by rogue
foreigners. Archeologist, Brian Billman, says two distinct patterns of human remains at several
suspected cannibalism sites support his terrorism theory (Dold). One pattern Billman observed was at
Cowboy Wash and it showed human remains were scattered on floors, and the dwellings abandoned
soon after. Rogue foreigners could have raided the Anasazi dwellings, scarce on food, and resulted to
cannibalism. The second pattern shoes show remains were not left lying about but were dumped into
trash pits or unused rooms. Billman thinks the first pattern occurred in victims homes, where they
were cut up and consumed. The second pattern occurred in sites belonging to the perpetrators, who
continued to use their homes after processing the bodies (Dold). This evidence leads to the theory that

Chemical Reaction Of Mentos
The scope of this paper is to explain the reaction that takes place when Mentos are dropped into Diet
Coke. This experiment is used frequently because of what happens when the candy meets the soda. A
geyser is formed that shoots out of the bottle that resembles a volcanic eruption. Due to the similarity,
it is also used for volcano projects. Depending on the alterations to the Mentos and/or Diet Coke, the
geyser can either go much higher or much lower than normal.
This reaction has produced much confusion among people about whether it is a physical or chemical
reaction. It is a physical reaction because the substances remained the same, the reaction did not form
a new substance. (Coffey) What creates the physical reaction is water molecules that go into the pores
on the Mentos. The rough surface of Mentos allow this to happen. The water molecules grow to create
carbon dioxide bubbles on the outside of the candy. The Mentos gain buoyancy, which means they rise
to the surface of the soda. After this occurs, there is increased bubble formation, resulting in the liquid
turning to foam and shooting out of the bottle. Bubble formation is also increased by the gum arabic
and gelatin in the Mentos combining with the potassium benzoate, sugar, and aspartame in the Diet
Coke. (Hiskey, Mental Floss)
As stated above, there are alterations that speed the reaction. These include decreasing the surface
tension of the Diet Coke, performing an acid base reaction, and warming the Diet Coke.

There had started a gradual decline in the overall governance of the country and the worst ever shock was received by the country in the Chinese aggression in 1962 in which India had to suffer a great humiliation for which Krishna Menon, as the Defense Minister was largely responsible. Further on, on the economic front also, the government in power failed to remove the disparities between the rich and the poor, rather the disparities increased, and there started a voice being raised regarding the backward classes who were regarded as economically backward and a further class of Other Backward Classes , other than the scheduled castes and scheduled tribes came into being and Chaudhary Charan Singh, otherwise and originally a Congressman became the leader and the champion of the Backward classes. During the regime of Indira Gandhi, politics had declined to manipulations and maneuverings to remain in power and the mobilisation of money and muscle power and the media, the law interpreting authorities and the educational system all these were attempted to be managed in her favour. Just after gaining independence, Mahatma Gandhi had suggested that congress as a political party should be disbanded. That of course, was not done but under Indira Gandhi a vertical rupture took place in the party with a number of old stalwarts deserting the party, forming into Congress (O) under Nijalingappa and Indira Gandhi formed her own group and this was named as Congress (I) of ... • 6. J. Edgar Hoover s Skills J. Edgar Hoover was born on January 1st, 1895. Growing up, I believe J. Edgar Hoover learned his skills while still in school. He was on the debate team in highschool, which helped him with his public speaking, and he also learned some leadership skills while in college. He didn t have to join the army after finishing school, because he had to take care of his mom. He eventually graduated college near the top of his class, with a Bachelor s Degree in law, which led him to his first job in the Department of Justice, starting out as a Clerk. Here, he went through the ranks of the Department pretty fast, because most men were going into the army, which left open positions. After rising through the ranks of the Department of Justice, he eventually was appointed as the director of the then known as, General Bureau of Investigation. Performance advertising delivers relevant, text based, advertisements that users click on in order to directly engage with the advertiser. In other words, it recognizes revenue every time, and only if, a Google user clicks on a client s advertisement. On the other hand Brand advertising uses videos, text images etc. which runs through different devices and reaches specific audiences. The introduction of the home personal computer and the internet launched our society to a modernized, technology depended community. Vast array of information are available to us every minute of every day. If any of us have a question that we needed the answer to, all we have to do is use Bing or Google or some other search engine and search for the answer. It is so easy now to obtain information. Furthermore, technology has greatly affected healthcare. Due to the technological advances in medicine, our society has the longest life span in history. Illnesses such as infections, wounds and other ailments that used to be fatal can now be cured by simply ingesting medicine. An aspect of medicine that is gradually becoming the focus of technological advancement is surgery. Surgeries can now be performed with the help of robots. The utilization of these robotic surgical systems is one of the main controversial issues many physicians debate about. The uncertainty as to what extent technology should influence medicine makes this issue interesting. Robotic surgery was first imagined from the idea that surgeons can operate on a patient without being in the same room, which was explored by NASA and the military in the 1970s and 1980s. The first ever surgery system that uses robotic technology is the da Vinci Surgical System. The da Vinci Surgical System was approved by the FDA in 2000. • 9. The Role Of Exceptional Leaders During The New Republic Era Exceptional leaders are key to the development of new countries. This was especially true during the New Republic Era, spanning from the late 1700s to the early 1800s, in which the first five presidents worked to lead the fragile, weak nation from infancy into a developed nation with a great infrastructure. George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, and James Monroe all guided the nation using advantageous foreign and domestic policies toward a brighter, more prosperous nation. George Washington was the first leader to save the nation from debt and unnecessary conflict with other nations. He instituted a series of tariffs and taxes during the first years of his presidency, 1790 to 1791, to help lift the burden of debt off of the nation s back. It showed that George Washington cared about the new nation and used his leadership to try to help solve the nation s many problems. But they did not originate as such. These stories began as a Brother Grimm s fairy tale and a Hans Christian Andersen fairy tale, dark and harsh were the only feelings they portrayed. While there are a few parallels between the two versions, much of them is different because of the period it was written. The morals of The Grimm Brothers time and that of 2000 s Disney is quite different. The Frog King by the Grimm Brothers was originally published in German in 1812. The most important Sociologists of the early 19th century were Emile Durkeim, Karl Marx and Max Weber; a common factor with all these men is that they were all influenced by the world in which they lived. I intend to, throughout this essay, explain these three different theories, evaluate them and also critically outline their main features. The Functionalist sees society as built up and working like the human body, made up of interrelated parts, which function for or contribute to the maintenance of society as a whole. (Cited: Browne.K. He saw society as a structure, which was divided into two parts, the infrastructure and the superstructure. The Infrastructure shapes the superstructures, in other words; the economic system will shape the rest of society. Marx saw contradictions in all societies; for example, in a capitalist society there is a conflict of interest. The company owners employ the workers at a low rate but subsequently gain substantial profits and rewards. In this instance one group gains, at the expense of the other. Marx believed there would eventually be a revolt against the ruling classes (capitalist). This would result in the disappearance of the classes and therefore the disappearance of oppression and exploitation. This could only happen if the subject class knew they were being exploited but this would take time because the infrastructure was far more powerful. Another problem for the subject class was that political and legal systems were in favour of capitalism, this aided class domination. Therefore, capitalism was seen to be just and reasonable rather than oppressive and exploitive. Marx believed that capitalism would eventually destroy itself. A criticism of Marxism is that it sees individuals as a product of their social system, and pictures people as unable to make up their own, minds and take initiative. Cristianity was a ... Joseph Lister (Professor of Surgery, London, 1827 1912) and Louis Pasteur (French bacteriologist, 1822 1895) revolutionized the entire concept of wound infection. Lister recognized that antisepsis could prevent infection.[1] In 1867, Lister placed carbolic acid into open fractures to sterilize the wound and to prevent sepsis and hence the need for amputation. In 1871, Lister began to use carbolic spray in the operating room to reduce contamination. • 18. Importance Of A Piece Of Writing When you read an article, a book, a newspaper, or even a letter, often times you do not think of all the complexities that the piece of writing incorporates. Every word, every sentence, every idea expressed is carefully thought out before it is presented in writing. This is because the writer must keep in mind their audience whilst they write, some might even go as far as to say that the writer has obligations to the reader. On the other hand, if you stop to contemplate it, you realize that writing is equally important to the writer as it is to the comprehensibility of the reader. Both types of people play a crucial role in making a piece of writing what it is. I stand in agreement with authors Mark Twain and Ursula K. Le Guin, along with an anonymous English professor at Ohio University, who all make claims that correspond to one greater message that the teamwork between writers and readers is what promotes the success of a piece of writing. Mark Twain heavily emphasizes the importance of proofreading writing for clarity. Referring to the revision of a written piece, Twain says, The time to begin writing an article is when you have finished it to your satisfaction. By that time you begin to clearly and logically perceive what it is you really want to say. Tuberculosis can spread by contagious airborne droplets that are passed on easily through close contact with a person who has active or untreated TB. As a person coughs, sneezes, or interacts, it can relinquish infectious droplets into the air. Once a person inhales the infectious droplet (bacillus), it settles in the upper airways. Bacteria in droplets that bypass the mucociliary system and reach the alveoli are expeditiously circumvented and engulfed by alveolar macrophages, the most abundant immune effector cells present in alveolar spaces (Knechel, 2009). These macrophages are a component of the immune system that fights to destroy the mycobacteria to obviate infection. The outcome is essentially determined by the quality of the host bulwarks and the balance that occurs between host bulwarks and the invading mycobacteria (Knechel, 2009). If the alveolar macrophage fails to overcome the inhaled mycobacteria, the bacteria will replicate until the macrophage lysis. As the monocytes are magnetized to the infection site, it then separates into macrophages and consumes the free bacilli. The mycobacteria then multiply within the macrophages causing it to become infected. The infected macrophages may then be transported to the lymph nodes where it can easily reach the blood stream. His parents, William Prescott Frost and Isabelle Moodie were both teachers ( Robert 1). William and Isabelle met while they were both teaching in Pennsylvania and fell in love. In 1884 William Frost died, leaving his wife and son on their own. The family struggles financially since they were only receiving one check instead of two (Encyclopedia 1). Throughout elementary and middle school, Robert surprisingly didn t like going to school. He would have rather been playing football or baseball with his friends. His mother made him realize the importance of an education just in time for high school (American 1). In 1892 he graduated high school as a valedictorian along with Elinor White. Robert was accepted into Dartmouth college and only finished one term. Robert and Elinor got accepted into different and when she wouldn t agree with him to quit college to marry him, he got jealous thinking she was seeing other men. He left Dartmouth college but could not get Elinor to quit her studies to marry him ( Robert 2). During college Robert worked ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Relevance For The Post 2015 Mdgs Agenda CONFLICT AND DEVELOPMENT Relevance for the post 2015 MDGs agenda Conflict is a relatively new concept in development, and the relation between the two is complex and remains not entirely understood. However, and given that the correlation among insecurity and development is clear, there is a general consensus in arguing that development cannot happen without security. In 2015, end of the Millennium Development Goals cycle, fragile and conflict affected countries are lagging far behind other developing countries in meeting these goals. Thus, the success of the MDGs is threatened and it depends, to a great extent, in the way conflict is addressed. This new approach of understanding development, known as human development, gives its due to conflict in explaining development or the lack of it. Although today related to negative outcomes, war has not always had the same impact. Indeed, many authors such as Tilly (1985) and Bates (2010) have analyzed how conflict led to the creation of States in Europe during the 14th and 15th century. According to them, the presence of wars and the need for protection raised because rural areas became wealthier as their population density decreased. This demographic change was mainly due to the progress of manufacturing and its consequent urbanization. To be successful at war, monarchs needed new sources of capital that were obtained through taxation, leading to the creation of a more complex bureaucratic system necessary to collect these taxes. Of course, individuals resisted to taxation, so monarchs had to bargain with citizens and concede some power in return for taxes. This way, monarchs gradually limited their own power, igniting the state building process, and laying the groundwork for future democracy and growth. However, Europe s conditions of state formation were not replicated in developing countries later, due to a radically different context. Amid the Cold War, rulers in less developed countries could obtain their resources through foreign aid, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 30. Love And Cruelty In James Hurst s The Scarlet Ibis Love and cruelty are two feelings that are so different, yet they are very similar. Cruelty can be changed and conquered by love, turning into a proud, and wonderful thing. Yet, love can still fall apart against the harshness of cruelty. James Hurst represents this idea through his characters, Doodle and Brother, in his work, The Scarlet Ibis . Doodle is born with a caul around his head and grows up crippled and physically limited. Brother is ashamed of Doodle s limitations and teaches Doodle how to walk, run, climb, fight and swim. Hurst uses the symbols of the storm and the scarlet ibis to demonstrate the cruelty and the love in Doodle and Brother s relationship, ultimately showing how even the strongest of relationships can end. The storm is used to symbolize Brother s cruelty towards Doodle. Doodle is born with a membrane surrounding his head, a caul. Because of this, Brother is embarrassed and ashamed of Doodle not being normal . Brother so much thought of killing Doodle to remove his problem although he never actually did. Yet one day while Brother is watching Doodle in his crib, he sees Doodle smile and realizes that he does have a brother in there. This inspires Brother to try and teach Doodle how to do basic things any kid his age should be able to do. After having spent a lot of time with Doodle, Brother has an epiphany and realizes he did not do this because of love, he did it because he is embarrassed and ashamed of having a crippled brother. • 31. Sir John Everett Millais s Ophelia To begin, Ophelia is one of Shakespeare s well known character that he created in Hamlet. There has been examination about how Ophelia in Hamlet is as a character but the way she is brought forth in Hamlet suggests that she is a woman that is one dimensional so to speak but to she has the potential to become a tragic heroine. One that is capable of not using her adversities that are inflicted upon her but instead crumbles into insanity and finally just becomes tragic compared to a tragic heroine. ¬Particularly, the painting by Sir John Everett Millais was completed by 1852 and is based on Ophelia in Hamlet. This painting (Image 1) is one of the best known illustrations from Shakespeare s play Hamlet . The Ophelia painting is located at the Tate Museum in London. Snow Flower And The Secret Fan Summary The Golden Lotus Lisa See s novel Snow Flower and the Secret Fan is narrated by an eighty year old Lily as she reflects back on her life in China during the 1800 s. Lily s story begins in her early life when she is six years old a diviner and matchmaker, both tell Lily s mother to take special care with her foot binding for she had the potential of having them be perfect. The story continues through the process of Lily and her surrounding female relatives foot binding experience until she is eleven and her feet have healed perfectly resulting in the golden lotus. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Some say that this was a way for men to hold dominance over a female due to the fact that she could not run away with such fragile feet. The bound feet are also thought to have shown social class if a family could bind the feet of a member of their family, hence they did need that person to work, it showed a greater social status. From this book s perspective, it was a duty a daughter could perform in order to secure a prosperous marriage, thereby providing financial security for her family and herself. Men desired these golden lotus feet and so women made the physical sacrifice to show their virtue and dedication to being a virtuous wife. At one point in the book, Lily and Snow Flower must flee from rebel warriors and hike up a snowy mountain, granted this is a fictitious story but the foot binding did not cause these women to be immobile. The women in the story experienced horrific pain during this trek until the snow helped numb their feet, but I imagine that anyone that had experienced the five to seven years it took to bind their feet and then learned to perform daily task on those feet could carry them a long while if they wanted to escape their marriages. It is my opinion that the fear of starvation or worse possibilities for a woman would keep a woman in a marriage during these times, they did not need to reshape their feet. In addition, ... When I got stung by a jellyfish, I felt that type of pain. We were driving our boat up the German Channel, the sky cloudless, the water a beautiful blue, and the sun shining across our faces. Colorful fish darted away fast as fighter jets as our boat drifted through the water. My brother, mom, dad, uncle and I were riding out to the German Channel, a popular diving site that also had many beaches. We re here! my uncle shouted as he powered off the engine. We climbed off the boat and onto the beach. I tossed off my slippers and felt the soft sand beneath my feet. What is this?! my brother exclaimed as he pointed at a black object that had just washed up shore. As I moved closer I saw that it was a sea cucumber! Come over here! I yelled. My brother and I walked over to a part of the beach protected from the sun by tall palm trees. Our mom came over and handed us old, wood sticks pulled of from trees. We all wrote our names in the sand and took a picture. Then my brother and I proceeded back out to the unshaded beach and we started digging a big hole. Using some pails we had brought, we went back and forth dumping pail after pail full of water into our little hole, until finally we had our own little pool! Why make a pool here, when the whole ocean is waiting for you guys? my dad asked. So it s safe from fish! my brother exclaimed, sliding into the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

And that angle is the issue of predetermination versus free will, as Anderton himself admits in the movie. A Detective from the U.S. Justice Department, Ed Witwer, played by Colin Farrel, shows up to investigate the effectiveness of the precogs and to search for the human error inherent in any such endeavor. He is sure there is such a weakness because as he says, these are humans and humans can be wrong. Witwer is already convinced that the future cannot be certain, therefore Pre Crime is not foolproof. In fact, Witwer points out that it doesn t matter how accurate oracles are, people make oracles out of others even if there aren t any. Man is by nature religious and he constructs religious content to explain otherwise unexplained natural phenomena. This is decidedly demythologization. Demythology is a modernist western prejudice of the naturalistic worldview. Naturalism assumes by faith that there is no transcendent spiritual aspect to reality. Everything has natural causes. All spiritual beliefs are simply ignorant misinterpretations of natural causes into spiritual forces; wish fulfillment. Demythology is the attempt to purge the mythic ignorance of a belief to discover the true natural cause. This is a continuation of a theme that Spielberg explored in much more detail in his rendition of Stanley Kubrik s A.I.2 This evolutionary worldview tries to redefine man as a being who constructs or projects his own meaning of God and spirit onto what is actually a meaningless universe of matter in motion. The belief in the afterlife is merely an extension of the evolutionary survival of the fittest. As the originator of the precogs tells Anderton, When the chips are down, ... In order to achieve the goals in the Potsdam declaration, the US performed political, economic, social, and educational reform in Japan. The US strategy to achieve the goals was demilitarization, disarmament, and democratization. Before the US occupation, Japan had a fascist regime, which was an obstruction to democracy since authoritarianism did not accept democratic ideals. With authoritarianism in Japan, parliaments did not control government; national economic development was pursued; and militarism was a major instrument in foreign policy. It was important to work towards the goal of reconstructing fascist regime and ideology to introduce democracy. The US occupation in Japan was successful in that it not only ... The Four Corners in North America was commonly known for its erratic nature patterns, with rainfall being scarce, making growth hard even for the scrubby sagebrush and tough pinon and juniper trees that fell across the land (Dold). The Anasazi knew how to adapt to these changes by moving quiet often. The Anasazi changed residences frequently, often settling in an area for fifty to one hundred years at a time (Bell). Hunger induced cannibalism typically occurs in groups that are trapped (Dolde). This information provides another key to the theory of the Anasazi tribe being invaded by rogue foreigners. Archeologist, Brian Billman, says two distinct patterns of human remains at several suspected cannibalism sites support his terrorism theory (Dold). One pattern Billman observed was at Cowboy Wash and it showed human remains were scattered on floors, and the dwellings abandoned soon after. Rogue foreigners could have raided the Anasazi dwellings, scarce on food, and resulted to cannibalism. The second pattern shoes show remains were not left lying about but were dumped into trash pits or unused rooms. Billman thinks the first pattern occurred in victims homes, where they were cut up and consumed. The second pattern occurred in sites belonging to the perpetrators, who continued to use their homes after processing the bodies (Dold). This evidence leads to the theory that ... • 40. Chemical Reaction Of Mentos The scope of this paper is to explain the reaction that takes place when Mentos are dropped into Diet Coke. This experiment is used frequently because of what happens when the candy meets the soda. A geyser is formed that shoots out of the bottle that resembles a volcanic eruption. Due to the similarity, it is also used for volcano projects. Depending on the alterations to the Mentos and/or Diet Coke, the geyser can either go much higher or much lower than normal. This reaction has produced much confusion among people about whether it is a physical or chemical reaction. It is a physical reaction because the substances remained the same, the reaction did not form a new substance. (Coffey) What creates the physical reaction is water molecules that go into the pores on the Mentos. The rough surface of Mentos allow this to happen. The water molecules grow to create carbon dioxide bubbles on the outside of the candy. The Mentos gain buoyancy, which means they rise to the surface of the soda. After this occurs, there is increased bubble formation, resulting in the liquid turning to foam and shooting out of the bottle. Bubble formation is also increased by the gum arabic and gelatin in the Mentos combining with the potassium benzoate, sugar, and aspartame in the Diet Coke. (Hiskey, Mental Floss) As stated above, there are alterations that speed the reaction. These include decreasing the surface tension of the Diet Coke, performing an acid base reaction, and warming the Diet Coke. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
