Essay on Has Globalization Changed Global Politics in a Positive Way or a Negative
way
Globalization Positive or Negative Globalization is one of the 21st century s most
important politics topic. I have heard the term globalization in my economics lecture
and in political debates. Some of my friends argued when I asked them if
globalization is changed global politics in a positive way or negative way. Some of
them argued saying that globalization is a positive development as it gives rise to
new industries and more job opportunities in developing countries, to which I agreed
to. As the world grows more connected through the internet and greater international
trade, globalization is becoming more important and more controversial.
Controversial in the sense that the developing countries of the world will do
whatever the developed countries will tell them to do, without thinking if it is going
to result into a good thing or a bad thing. It is easy to assume that globalization is an
entirely modern phenomenon driven by inventions like the telegraph or the internet.
In many ways, globalization has been taking place for centuries like outsourcing most
manufacturing jobs in the developed countries, involving Canada and obtaining
goods from outside sources which are the developing countries. Which is a good
thing for the developing countries as they are getting more
3. The World Is A Super Tool Essay
Today, the world is ever connected. The internet is a super tool that has brought the
world together while at the same time creating a gap between the haves and the have
nots. Consumer culture has become an integral part of Western culture. Brands and
companies have blurred the lines between wants and needs. Advertisingin such a way
is aimed to bring more convince and options to the consumer. In reality, this type of
tactic is most beneficial to the corporation. What s more, practices such as planned
obsolescence further fuels the consumer cycle. Big business practices such as image
propagation, branding, and planned obsolescence has led to excess waste in the
wake if today s global consumer culture, one that is centered around profit. There are
companies in today s global market that rely on branding to sell goods. Clothing
brands including Levi s and Abercrombie and Fitch capitalize on the Americanness of
the brandthey have both worked to create. While these brands may seem second
nature to those living in the United States, abroad these brands ooze American
culture. Brands like Levi s and Abercrombie have created a relationship between its
brand and the culture from which it came. Abercrombie is essentially selling a
brand that is hip to New York Fashions. Levi s is selling to an audience that believes
their jeans are better because they have been created in the progressive city of sunny
San Francisco, California. While in reality, these goods are even
4. Effective Communication And Interpersonal
Communication
Within this piece of writing I am going to go explain how effective communication
and interpersonal interaction is crucial within health and social care, I will also
discuss theories of communication and how they are effective within the health and
social sector.
Communication
What is communication? Communication Is when two or more people exchange or
express information, thoughts, feelings etc. by using sounds, signs, or behaviors.
Why do people communicate?
People communicate to find out how people are feeling, so if there are any
problems they can help them out and take them to the doctors if needed, in some
cases people communication just to have a catch up with a friend. A good example
of this within health and social would be if a person that spoke a different language
needed to go to the toilet you would have to communicate by using the right
translation book to understand what they are saying. There are many different types
to communicate which are; one to one, formal, and informal, between colleagues,
with other professionals, between professionals and service users, multi agency, multi
professional working I am now going to go into some detail about these different
types to communicate to each other within a social workers industry, I will be giving
examples throughout.
Interpersonal
What is Interpersonal communication?
Interpersonal communication is skills and techniques that people use in order to
communicate and maintain positive relationships, a good
5. Nursing In Nursing
Margaret Sanger, Florence Nightingale, Clara Barton; they re all well known
names in history. They made the world a better place with their hard work and
achievements. Not only did they make changes in history, but they were nurses.
Nurses, a person trained to care for the sick or infirm, especially in a hospital, are in
high demand all over the country if not the world as well. Nurses are known as some
of the most important men and women in the world. With almost three million
registered nurses in the United States alone, the world of nursing has grown larger
than ever since the 1800s. I decided to study nursing, and why even with over three
million registered nurses in the United States, the demand for nurses is undeniably
through the roof. There are some answers as to why they are in such high demand,
including opportunities expanded, nursing educators shortage, and the recession. I
want to be a nursemyself, and as I ve been applying to colleges, I m learning there s
more than what meets the eye. It s no surprise there is a shortage of nursing
educators in the United States, since getting into nursing school has become one of
the hardest things to do. Even with a 3.7 GPA, many nursing students don t get into
nursing school, with an average of only 30% of students getting in after taking their
prerequisites in college (UNC Nursing). Hours is another reason why there is such a
high demand for nurses. As I studied and observed these individuals in a hospital
setting, I
6. Stabilizing Shorelines
Stabilizing shorelines The coastline are undergoing changes through time which
can be attributed to natural processes while others are attributed to human
activities though most of them are due to both factors. This calls for human
intervention which involves attempts to stabilize or what can be termed as
hardening of the shoreline. This approach taken will lead to various long lasting
consequences on the natural system both locally as well as the area surrounding;
these effects can be both positive and negative. This paper looks at various
techniques and efforts that have been used in the stabilization of shores
throughout the world and further establish if they are temporary or permanent.
Finally it will look at how development of coastal areas has played a role to
shoreline erosion. When it comes to the efforts to be applied so as to ensure that
shores are stabilized one must first recognize erosion problems. There is loss of soil
and ultimately the value of shoreline and hence this is a problem that needs urgent
action against. Stabilization of the shoreline can be done through the construction of
various beach structures which all act in a similar way in that they act as an
imposition of a physical barrier in the area near the shore zone and hence block flow
of littoral drift which goes ahead to interrupt the natural equilibrium. They therefore
are designed to withstand force of wave action. These are the hard stabilization
methods and they include; sea wall

I did this to make an account Television is a telecommunication medium that is used
for transmitting and receiving moving images and sound. Television can transmit
images that are monochrome, in color, or in three dimensions. The word television
comes . Television may also refer specifically to a television set, televisionprogram,
or television transmission.
First commercially available in very crude form on an experimental basis in the late
1920s, then popularized in greatly improved form shortly after World War II, the
television set has become commonplace in homes, businesses, and institutions,
particularly as a vehicle for entertainment, advertising, and news. During the 1950s,

The holes were spaced at equal angular intervals such that, in a single rotation, the
disk would allow light to pass through each hole and onto a light sensitive selenium
sensor which produced the electrical pulses. As an image was focused on the rotating
disk, each hole captured a horizontal slice of the entire image.
Nipkow s design was not practical until advances in amplifier tube technology
became available. Later designs used a rotating mirror drum scanner to capture the
image and a cathode ray tube as a display device, but moving images were still not
possible due to the poor sensitivity of the selenium sensors. In 1907, Russian scientist
Boris Rosing became the first inventor to use a CRT in the receiver of an
experimental television system. He used mirror drum scanning to transmit simple
geometric shapes to the CRT.
Using a Nipkow disk, Scottish inventor John Logie Baird successfully
demonstrated the transmission of moving silhouette images in London in 1925 and
of moving, monochromatic images in 1926. Baird s scanning disk produced an
image of 30 lines resolution, just enough to discern a human face, from a double
spiral of lenses. This demonstration by Baird is generally agreed to be the world s
first true demonstration of TV, albeit a mechanical form no longer in use.
Remarkably, in 1927, Baird also invented the world s first video recording system,
Phonovision; because the signal

Thomas Ham looked out the rainy window. The cars and trucks passed by. He saw
the gray buildings. He was scared. Why? When he got home his mom s boyfriend
was probably. His dad died from saving Tom from a fire. There was no money. They
were forced to move to New York City in a small apartment. The yellow bus slowly
came to a stop. Tom got off of the bus. Pressed the button to call up to his mom, Hi,
mom
Hey, you can come up. The keyis under the rug, his mom said. He walked through
the passageway. He came upon a courtyard with some old tables and chairs. He
walked into his building. Then he jogged up the stairs with his books. He picked

9. Summary Of The Old Gothic South Of A Rose For Emily
The Old Gothic South of A Rose for Emily William Faulkner s short story, A Rose
for Emily, setting is in the fictional Mississippi town of Jefferson. Events in this short
story take place in the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. The description of
the setting in the story helps the reader depict a decaying Mississippi town in the
post Civil War in the south (Nichols). In this short story, Faulkner was mainly
interested in exploring the ethical implications of history. William Faulkner
establishes several types of themes throughout the story. Most of the themes are some
of Faulkner s usual s such as, the weakening of the old south, death, and seclusion
amongst others. In the beginning of this story, the narrator mentions the description
of Emily s death and her haunted lifestyle to the present time and day. The themes are
communicated through the plot of the story. These themes give the reader a quite
unique representation of the old south.
In A Rose for Emily, the rose is a representation of the pity that the readers have for
Emily after completing the story. This story involves an elderly woman, who
passes away prior to the story, that was the daughter of a very wealthy man of the
town of Jefferson. Emily s father was very overprotective of her, and the love that
she had for him was never ending. The love was so robust that after the death of her
father, Emily kept his body in the home. Because of Emily s condescending standing

An exhibition never fails in taking the spectator on a journey through the chosen art
s narrative. The vast selection of exhibitions that were available at the National
Gallery of Art made it difficult to narrow down the preferred choices. While
examining the exhibition list one word seemed to capture my attention. Urban. I had
the privilege to be born in a foreign cityand to grow up in yet another city. This
perspective colored my gallery selection and placed emphasis on the word Urban.
Located in the West Wing of the Natural Gallery of Art, Urban Scene 1920 1950 is
an exhibition that reveals the four century old artistic interpretation of the dynamic
life that comes with residing in a city. Part of the beauty of the exhibition is the
incorporation of less recognized American artists that worked on various printmaking
techniques to create these astonishing achievements. The installation utilized
minimalistic styles that introduced the viewer to various cities in the US. During the...

All of the American artists employ a realistic approach in their prints. The
exhibition exemplifies mastery of manipulation on printmaking that successfully
creates an illusion of depth utilizing lights and shadows. One of the works
displayed in the selection is Victoria Hutson Huntley s brilliant detailed lithograph
of Lower New York (see exhibition A). The image s astonishing composition is
accompanied with a small text labeling the print as one of the works that was
produced in 1934 and given as a gift from Bob Stana and Tom Judy. The image s
depiction of naturalistic composition allows spectators to place themselves in the
financial district of New York City. From a bird s eye view, spectators witness

11. Guidelines for Action Research
Action research is simply a form of self reflective enquiry undertaken by participants
in social situations in order to improve the rationality and justice of their own
practices, their understanding of these practices, and the situations in which the
practices are carried out . (Carr and Kemmis 1986: 162).
The type of research needed for educational practice can best be characterised as
research for social management and/or engineering. But if this is the context, the
practise can be changed into the concept of educational management with social and
or educational engineering.
Educational researchers are drawn to Carr and Kemiss understanding of action

But also it could be seen that in starting on a particular path of research, the
researcher will see the benefit of switching between one or more methodologies in
order to achieve a stated aim or perceived objective. This switching from one process
to another, is what Donald Schön (1983) called knowing in action (4). This research
methodology can also be called Discovery learning. This methodology is
experienced when the learner draws on their own experiences and prior knowledge.
Bruner is credited with the implantation of discovery learning in the 1960s. Bruner
argues that Practice in discovering for oneself teaches one to acquire information in
a way that makes that information more readily viable in problem solving (5)
(Bruner, 1961, p. 26).
Because the very act of education is principally a practical activity, to find a positive
outcome or indeed any outcome to the educational problems that can occur in the day
to day delivery, the practitioner/researcher can only find the answer by taking a
specific course of action research. Any action research undertaken cannot exist
outside the understanding of the practitioner. To help understand what course of
action to take, it is essential to have a research approach that can help the practitioners
in their own particular situations. The ability of action research enables this to
happen. Teaching....can only be understood by reference to the framework of thought

Over the next couple of weeks Mexico s reserves dropped nearly $4 billion, to
$121вЃ„2 billion. The reasons for renewed pressure on the peso in mid December are
unclear. Banco de Mexico cites several factors, пѓ the negative effects of higher
real interest rates on financial intermediaries and debtors, пѓ market worries that the
current account deficit would be difficult to finance in 1995, пѓ a breakdown in
negotiations with the rebels in Chiapas. It is also possible that leaked rumors of
changes in exchange rate policy set off another round of capital flight. In any event,
over three days Mexico lost another $1.5 billion in reserves.

Technology Today
The effects of technology with society has beneficial impacted the way we live.
With technology is providing many advantages, but also it has some disadvantages it
has on children and adults. There is little room for people that wish to live without
technology, moreover than living the way they did in the old days. Technology has
its advantages, it s has changed the way people have communicated by email, social
media, the way traveling has improved.
Have you ever heard the saying Children are born with a cell phone in their hands?
In today society, children may not be born with technology in their hands, but they
are introduced to it sometimes even before they can even walk. Technology is so
advanced than what it used to be, children as young as babies can use it and learn
from it. I am for my child using technology, to help learn and to expand her mind.
Everything that children see and interact with is involved with technology, for
example: cellphones, tablets, video games, and many other things.
In elementary school the students are mandatory to learn how to use the computers.
This allows the students to learn how to use the computer appropriately. Learning
tools for school is at the student figure tips. It s important for children to learn how
to research topics, by using the web search. Children also need to understand that not
everything that they read is 100% accurate. Technology and society: technology

an average of 8 hours 18 minutes a week online. Also 55% of 3 4 years old have

16. The Causes And Contributions Of The Human Genome
Project
Human Genome ProjectA genome is the complete collection of an organism s genetic
material. The human genome is composed of about 20,000 to 25,000 genes located
on the 23 pairs of chromosomes in a human cell (Tortora, Funke, Case, 2016).
According to the Human Genome Project (2000), A single human chromosome may
contain more than 250 million DNAbase pairs, and it is estimated that the entire
human genomeconsists of about 3 billion base pairs. Now that we have identified
what a genome is, we will now examine the Human Genome Project. The Human
Genome Project (HGP) is a project that began in October of 1990 (Tortora, Funke,
Case, 2016). The HGP lasted for 13 years, so the end of the project was in 2003.
Mapping the entire human DNA sequence was the main purpose of the program
(Tortora, Funke, Case, 2016). Associating specific human traits and inborn diseases
with genes at exact locations on the chromosomes was the goal of genomic mapping
and sequencing (HGP, 2000). Figure 1 below shows the timeline through which the
Human Genome Project got completed. In 1990, the project commenced along with
the Ethical, legal and social implication program (ELSI). Fast forwarding to 1995,
where the human physical mapping goal was achieved. Then in 1999, the sequence
of the first human chromosome was completed. Finally, in 2003, the project was
completed.

17. Essay about Rationalism of Failure
Rationalization of Failure
Aesop s short story The Fox and the Grapes tells of a fox failing to find a way to
reach some grapes hanging high up on a vine. The story deals with the
rationalization of the failure to attain a desired end. Rather than accept a personal
failure by acknowledging our shortcomings or by unemotionally evaluating the
circumstances that surrounded the failure, we rationalize and come up with an
immediate excuse. We need to convince ourselves and everybody else who
witnessed our attempts that the outcome was all for the best. Just like the fox, we
actually prepare our egos and our witnesses to view a future failure as if it were
actually the result we intended. In The Fox and the Grapes , when the fox ... Show

The sour grapes defense requires both the speaker and the listener to be tricked
into overlooking all the eagerness and persistence that had just been exhibited by
the fox. We have all used the term sour grapes at one time or another. For example,
I desire a promotion, but there are few chances that I will get it. In that case, I can
imitate the fox and tell myself that the higher position is really too burdensome to
be worth the additional pay. I can also refuse to believe the evidence and persist in
an unjustified belief that promotion is just around the corner. This will, for a
while, also bring my beliefs and desires in harmony with one another. Joyce Meyer
said in her book that, Our minds can play many tricks on us and in some cases the
result is to give us some peace of mind in what would otherwise have been an
uncomfortable situation (Meyer 24). This quote relates to the fox s circumstances
because by being able to rationalize and tell himself that the grapes weren t worth
having anyway, he made his life easier. The fox, being the symbol of cleverness,
does succeed in jumping at the chance to be the model for us to copy. When
something happens that we find difficult to accept, we will make up a logical reason
why it has happened. When confronted by failure, people tend to attribute the blame
on other people or outside forces. In this story, denial is a rationalization of failure
and not a satisfactory excuse.

Some may believe that renewable energy is not beneficial.
In contrast, some believe that renewable energy is a key factor involved in helping
the economy to grow. Many jobs are created in the manufacturing and running of
renewable energy plants. The renewable energy and energy efficiency technologies
created 8.5 million new jobs and $970 billion in revenue in the year 2006
(Langwith, Renewable Energy is Economically ). The American Solar Energy
Society says by 2030 it could generate up to $4.5 trillion in revenue for the U.S and
create 40 million new jobs. This would represent one in every four jobs (Langwith,
Renewable Energy is Economically ). This shows how vital it is to get renewable
energy companies in the U.S. It is important to build a stable economy again and do
it all while helping the environment. The environment is negatively affected be the
burning of fossil fuels. The affects of the gases contribute to global warming, along
with acid rain and polluted air. This pollution cuts short an estimated 30,000
American lives according to the Clean Air Task Force (Rich). The United States must
stop using fossil fuels because the gases produce harm the environment we live

20. Gregor Samsa And Depression By Franz Kafka
Gregor Samsa and Depression Gregor Samsa is the main character in the book The
Metamorphosis written by Franz Kafka and published in early 1915. The book
which is primarily centered on Gregor and his family takes readers on a journey
into the seemingly disturbing life of Gregor Sasma and how major changes in his
life take him on a downward spiral of depression and eventually, death. The
changes evident in Gregor did not only affect him, but also affected his immediate
family resulting in attitudes of awkwardness, pity, and blame from certain family
members towards Gregor. At the beginning of the book, Gregor is portrayed as a
diligent, hardworking young man, with a relatively disciplined work ethic. He is
the sole provider in terms of his family s welfare. The family on the other hand
appears to only be interested in the money Gregor brings into the home in a bid to
have their debts liquidated due to a failed business. Kafka, in this story depicts
Gregor as a man who leads the normal day to day life of a travelling salesman. There
are really no interesting moments in the life of Gregor until he awakens one morning
to find himself completely transformed in the physical sense. Gregor Samsa is
transformed into something completely unknown to him. In investigating the notion
of depression, we are forced to analyze whether the physical transformation of Gregor
resulted in a transformation of his emotional sense. Did the main character in the

Influences You can be influenced by anything, the television, your friends and

push you to lead dangerous, life threatening decisions. How far can the media,
family, and friends push you? Media has had an increasingly negative impact
(Mokeyane 2); media affects the lives of us all negatively at some point. People
are being driven to eating disorders and others by copying the behaviors of the
lifestyles being projected. Teenagers are surrounded by all types of media; radios,
television, magazines, and the internet. All this media will produce images in our
teenagers brains that they need to be perfect to be accepted in society from ads
with skinny supermodels. How did this unrealistic idea of the perfection of the
ideal body get framed... open a newspaper or magazine, switch on the television or

teenagers to this conclusion is media poisoning. Sizes of supermodels and actresses
often influence teenage girls (Mokeyane 2). It s known that the media contributes to

23. Desperation Character Analysis
Having hope and courage is hard in a town like Desperation. A mining town
controlled by an evil spirit, Tak, that inhabits citizens, and it forces them to do
unspeakable things. It first possesses a cop, Collie Entragian, who kidnaps people
and murders them. However, the Collie Entragian survival crew has bravery at all
times. In the book Desperationby Stephen King, King s message is courage is a
powerful tool. The main characters experience unimaginable torture and many
hardships. However, they keep going and face their fears.
David Carver was abducted with his family by Collie Entragian. He always has
hope and is faithful; he believes it was his job to serve and love God. Throughout
the novel, he uses this to motivate him. Within the first couple hours of being in
Desperation, both his sister, father, and mother were murdered. Although this is
immensely tough, he tried to prevent this from happening to others. For example,
he risked his life to find another person. He stated, I can find him. He s close...I m
supposed to find him (King 596). David was courageous in this moment because he
knew the risks and still went out to find John Marinville. This action speaks
volumes about David s character and the overall theme. For example, David knew he
could face a similar fate as his family, but he fought against the demon. Instead of
fearing what Takmight do, he focused on helping others and escaping. He overcame
Tak because of the courage he had, not by using anything

Pawan Kumar Thakur Background and objectives: Portal vein thrombosis (PVT) is
an increasingly recognized complication of liver cirrhosis. It is associated with
worsening liver function, ascites and the occurrence of gastroesophageal variceal
bleeding. The aim of this work was to clarify the risk factors, clinical presentation
and complications of portal vein thrombosis in Egyptian patients with liver
cirrhosis and to study the outcome with and without treatment after 6 months
follow up period. Methods: Hospitalized cirrhotic patients (N = 80) were
segregated into the PVT and non PVT groups. PVT was detected by Doppler
ultrasonography; each group was divided in two sub groups (A and B) according to
presence or absence of HCC respectively. The 2 groups were compared as regards
risk factors, clinical presentation and complications. The outcome of treatment with
anticoagulation in 6 patients was evaluated. Result: PVT developed as result of
combination of both local and systemic risk factors. HCC, abdominal infection
especially spontaneous bacterial peritonitis and abdominal intervention were the most
important local risk factors. Abnormalities of coagulation system were among
systemic risk factors. Most of cases were asymptomatic and accidentally discovered,
others presented

The health care providers didn t understand the Lee s culture. The doctors never took
the time to understand the Hmong culture and instead assumed that their practices
may have been what was negatively affecting Lia s recovery. According to Fadiman
(2003), in the hospital they would call the shaman witch doctoring (p. 35). Many
times the Lees wouldn t understand the instructions of the doctors and I believe this
also impacted the way that they thought of medicine. The doctors loved Lia and so
did her parents, but they just had different ways of thinking. The Lees thought that
sickness comes from the soul, and the doctors believed that there was a physiological
cause for the sickness. The doctors were not open minded about the Lee s... Show

I think the main point in this story is not to give up, but instead to be patient and
have the courage to fight back.
According to the Hmong culture a shaman helps to cure the soul. A doctor cures
physiological problems. As we learn throughout this class there is a difference
between an illness and a disease. An illness or a disease may have the absence of
the other. In most cases an illness can be present without a disease. In the case of
Lia there was a presence of both illness and disease. If txiv neeb and the American
doctor would have balanced their practices and learned from each other, this
would have positively affected the way the Lees thought about modern medicine. I
believe that faith plays an important role in Lia s case, and if the doctors would
have understood the way that txiv neeb thought and vice versa, the Lees would
have trusted American doctors and medicine more. Learning from txiv neeb would
have also helped the American doctors in Lia s case and in other cases when
treating Hmong patients by understanding their culture. It is important for the
doctors to understand the Hmong culture and specifically the way that a txiv neeb
works because in Merced a third of the population were Hmong and used a tixv
neeb as their main source of healing. A txiv neeb takes the time to be with a patient
while a doctor would only spend 15 minutes with them. A txiv neeb could have learn

Introduction
Obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD) is an anxiety disorder characterized by an
individual experiencing intrusive thoughts, images, or worries in addition to
repetitive, non functional behaviours that emerge in an effort to suppress anxiety (i.e.
compulsions) (American Psychiatric Association, 1994). Symptoms are often time
consuming, and can cause considerable functional impairments, contribute to
increased social isolation, persistent distress and stigma. Although average age of
onset of OCD has typically been thought to occur in early adulthood (Minichiello et
al., 1990), there is increasing evidence that children as early as 10 years old
experience it (Geller, 2001). Recently, more attention has been directed toward the
identification and treatment of OCD symptoms in children and adolescents (Penn et
al., 1992; Rapoport and Inoff Germain, 2000). Childhood OCD has been found to be
associated with severe disruption in social and academic functioning, family
dysfunction and co morbid emotional and behavioural problems (Albano, March,
Piacentini, 1999).
A substantial body of literature supports cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT),

The demand of wine in the world will never go down, so huge profits can be made if
the wine is exported to the targeted places. [Jackson S. Ronald, 2008]
Sustaining Wine Production:
Sustainability by itself is just a word that gives the meaning that the programs and
people behind it drive a change, improve the environment and produce the best
quality of grapes and wine in the world. [Chris Savage] Sustainable wine production
is emerged from the sustainable agriculture revolution which started in the 1950 s and
1960 s called the Green Revolution. Sustainable farming is a race that no one will
never win or even finish, because perfect sustainable agriculture is not possible.
Sustainable wine production is to carefully pay attention to some of the farming
aspects like water, nutrients, energy, wine output.

When anybody is tormented I would venture to say they are not thinking clearly at
all and that the actions of a tormented person are not the best around. Saul when he
was tormented, he took a spear and tossed it at his son in law David, with the
intentions of killing him. It s when a person is not thinking straight that they do
some of the dumbest things with the most horrific results. When a person is in the
battle grounds of trying to be a survivor of suicide it s difficult and hard to do.

31. Essay on Why Gladstone Failed to Pacify Ireland
Why Gladstone Failed to Pacify Ireland
Gladstone s adoption of interest in Irish affairs in 1867 puzzled many of his
contemporaries and has continued to puzzle historians. Up until 1867 Gladstone had
shown very little sympathy towards the Irish, all his life he had held them in
contempt, visiting only once. His mission to pacify Ireland was surprising and his
motives suspect. Many historians believe that Ireland was a cause through which
Gladstone was to unify his divided party. Others have said that it was in reaction to
the agrarian violence raging through Ireland, it was clear that something had to be
done. Gladstone declared that it was his high hope and ardent desire that Ireland
would ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It was hoped that this would reduce social unrest provoked by religious
discrimination. Gladstone s plans were courageous; he had no precedent to go by
and the task presented immense difficulties. The Act dissolved the Irish Church s
power, it meant that it could no longer expect tithes from Catholics and C of I
dissenters although this did not mean that the Irish were any better off; the tithes
still had to be paid but were now paid to the state rather than the Irish Church.
Despite the fact that the Act solved once and for all the major religious grievance of
the Irish Roman Catholics [1]in practice it made very little difference the lives of
most Irishmen. It did not by any means solve religious differences, Protestants still
owned much of the land, and they still dominated the resented landlord class. The
consequences of the act were more symbolic than practical, it did very little to pacify
Ireland.
Most agreed that the key to Ireland s problems lay in the land question. This
question of questions for Ireland (John Devoy) proved much more difficult than
church reform due to the complexities of the Irish Land System and the wider range
of interests involved. Lord Kimberley wrote no measures of any kind can satisfy the
Irish: the utmost they can do is to lay the basis for a gradual improvement .
Kimberley s prognostication was very close to the truth. Neither Act actually

If you do not feel like you are in command of your destiny, then chances are you

negative experiences because the past has taught them that they are not in control.
The study of learned helplessness was first experimented on dogs, and later it was
realized that it had the same effects and impacts on humans. Past research suggests
that learned helpless subjects are likely to make internal, stable, and global causal
explanations for unfavorable outcomes, and external, unstable, and specific ones for
favorable outcomes (Hansen Thomsen, 2013, p. 1010). This first study was designed

38. Analysis Of The Book The Brothers Karamazov
The helplessness man endures during times of unjustified suffering is an something
that we all dread, but one that, inevitably, every single person experiences to many
volatile lengths and magnitudes. In the Book of Job, an innocent and righteous man
endures torment passed onto him by God by clinging to his faith and his belief in
himself. By contrast, the grand inquisitor in Dostoevsky s The Brothers Karamazov
offers a solution that seeks to overcome the doubt and hardship that afflict mankind
by choosing instead to suppress what the inquisitor believes is its cruel source: free
will. Both texts oppose each other in their attempt to deal with the problem of evil,
but both provoke questions and provide insight into the problem of theodicy. While
existentialism isn t in the immediate scope of theodicy, it is essential to it in that evil
is a natural element in the world, and to question why evil happens, and why God
would so allow it, is to revert to questioning why God would allow for anything to
even exist. The situations in both texts prove that evil is a pervasive but necessary
force, just as chaos is, and to assume evil as an anomaly in God s grand design or
as the opposition to his status as the embodiment of absolute good is merely man s
own prosecution of elements that cannot easily be answered by our self established
morals and constructs, and if we believe that evil is not inherent in God s nature and
his intended nature of the world, then neither should be good

Propaganda
It s so easy for propaganda to work, and dissent to be mocked, believes Harold
Pinter, Nobel Prize winning English playwright, screenwriter, director and actor.
Various propaganda from the totalitarian government of Among the Hidden will
affect citizens, baron or farmer. Either way, there will be attempts to voice other sides
of the story. The governmentis spreading lies about the population police; their
deceptive ways will change citizen s lives.
Luke is the third child of a farmer s family, and propaganda deeply interfered with his
life. Ever since he was a toddler, he was obliged to a strict set of rules from his
paranoid parents. Then they started running all that on TV about the Population
Police, how the Population Police had ways of finding out everything, how they d do
anything to enforce the law... And your dad started hearing rumors in town, about
other babies... (10 11) Luke s mother replied to his questioning. His mother was
telling him about the government s propaganda, the propaganda they had believed.
Luke s parents fell right into the government s trap of lies. Therefore, Luke was
forbidden from watching TV, using the computer, or calling someone on the phone,
blocking him from the outside world. Being a farmer s third child practically meant
Luke was clueless when it came to real life. The doctrines of the government changed
Luke s life.

40. Amazon Deforestation
Deforestation: The Fate of the Amazon The Amazon is the largest rainforest on Earth,
covering about forty percent of the South American continent, with most of it in
Brazil. It is home to more species than any other single ecosystem and has the richest
biodiversity than anywhere else on the planet. Sadly, the Amazon has become a
victim of deforestation, and has been occurring since European colonists arrived in
South America. Deforestation is the cutting down, removal, burning, or clearing of
trees in forested lands for urban, industry, logging, wasteland, or agricultural use, and
it has devastating effects. The amount of Amazon acres that have already been
destroyed is heartbreaking, and it is negatively affecting many different habitats,
species, and human population in a multitude of ways. The most obvious effect on
the environment would be habitat destruction. Habitat loss is the biggest threat to the
vast array of species in the Amazon. These uninhabitable areas strip these species of
their shelter, breeding grounds, and food. Thousands of plant and animal species are
losing their home, and this results in these species going on the endangered list, and
even going extinct. It s sickening to think that there could be species out there that we
never even knew about, but they are tragically lost forever. Additionally, deforestation
is highly linked as a contributor to climate change. The trees in the Amazon supply
Earth with a huge supply of oxygen from its

However, in some cultures, the media play a role in preventing teenagers to confront
scenes related to sex. For example, some intimate scenes are censored in Arab TV
channels such as mbc4 and fox movies.
I believe that sex is a personal choice that one makes and it plays an important role in
self discovery and maturity. Sexual experimentation is good experience Bahij.
Curiosity and experience push teens into being intimate with their partners, in that
way they believe that they could have a much better understanding when talking
about relationship. Sure they been hearing about all the risks or STDs pregnancy... but
what is it really like? That is what both boys and girls want to discover and
experience. Unfortunately, it is known that few teens have bad intentions since
they are pressed to do something that they are not legally allowed to do. Part of it is
to feel bad by breaking the law; it is a sort of a rebellion move for them.
Teenage sexuality has risen and has become a standard phenomenal in societies.
However, there are still some major problems that derive from this issue.
These days, the task of teaching moral values has become increasingly difficult in
today s materialistic, saturated society. Most parents have the difficult job of
preparing their children for conflict
42. General Approaches For Feature Selection
General Approaches for Feature Selection There are 3 types of approaches for feature
selection namely filter, wrapper, embedded method.
Filter method: Filter method does not involve a learning algorithm for measuring
feature subset [6]. It is fast and efficient for computation .filter method can fail to
select the feature that are not beneficial by themselves but can be very beneficial
when unite with others. Filter method evaluates the feature by giving ranks to their
evaluation value. In filter method it evaluates the correlation between the features by
using criteria such as, mutual information, maximum length, maximum relevance
min redundancy (mRMR), PCA.
Figure 1.2 Filter approach
Wrapper method: wrapper method involve learning algorithm and search for optimal
feature subset from original feature set which discover the relationship between
relevance and optimal subset selection. It performed better than the filter method. The
specific training classifier is used to evaluate the performance of selected features.
Figure 1.3 Wrapper approach
Embedded method: Embedded method is a combination of wrapper method and
embedded method. This decreases the computational cost than wrapper approach and
captures feature dependencies. It searches locally for features that allow better
discrimination and also the relationship between the input feature and the targeted
feature. It involves the learning algorithm which is used to select optimal subset

such as moderate expenses for the project, creating a clear set of goals and enhance a
good communications network within the organization. The information phase

or success.
The electronic system has cost the airport a lot of expenses in designing and
installing, after its letdown, the conventional baggage system that had to be
conveyed with extra expenses and the long time spent while opening the airport lead
to the extra cost. Some of the most significant are: lack of enough time allowed to
develop the system properly, the business requirements of the airline kept changing,
the company planning and implementing the system did not create a system of this
scale and also those making key decision undervalued the difficulty involved leading
to failure of the project (Montealegre, R., Keil, M., 2000).
A reason for automation begins by labeling how it was certain that Denver
International Airport would have an automatic baggage handling system. A small

In Volume 6 of Enneads, the Greek philosopher Plotinus gives his standpoint on what
defines beauty. This passage is noteworthy because of the way it contradicts the
aesthetics of his day and age. Plotinus begins by asking his audience to consider what
beauty is. He offers the example of some things being beautiful by the nature of the
objects themselves, and something instead are beautiful by participation, such as
being virtuous (Plotinus 1). He prompts the audience to ask themselves whether
beauty is sensory since one may see or hear things they consider beautiful, what
catches the attention of someone ultimately leading to a feeling of attraction to
certain things (Plotinus 1)?... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Plotinus refers to the other philosophers of his time stating, nearly everyone says that
it is good proportion of the parts to the whole, with the addition of the parts to the
whole, with the addition of good colour which produces visible beauty... and defines
being beautiful as being well proportioned and measured (Plotinus 1). Plotinus first
rebuttal is, if beauty lies in being well proportioned, then it is the parts put together
properly that makes something beautiful so that the parts themselves would not hold
any beauty. He illustrates this by stating the parts will not have the property of beauty
by themselves, but will contribute to the beauty of the whole. He gives examples of
simple parts that are beautiful on their own such as, though an entire song is
beautiful, one note may hold beauty all the same (Plotinus 1). Plotinus strengthens his
argument by asking where knowledge and virtue, two beautiful things, were to fit into
the common Greek aesthetic. Knowledge and virtue cannot be of good proportion yet
we still consider these beautiful, do we not (Plotinus

The assessment findings above indicate an underlying sensory integrative
dysfunction. Kianah s functional difficulties and presenting problems referred to
throughout this protocol are an end result of inefficient and irregular sensory
processing of specific sensory information by the brain. Ayres (2005:54) believed that,
although the integration of sensory input develops together, some functions lead up
to others and that there are many processes involved in integrating sensory
information.
The first level of integration occurs when the five major sensory systems are
stimulated adequately and their impulses travel from the receptors to the brain.
Integration primarily occurs within the vestibular, proprioceptive and tactile systems

Although she does not appear to be over or under responsive to proprioceptive
input, she struggles to accurately receive proprioceptive feedback from her muscles
and joints. She compensates for this by relying heavily on her vision to perform
tasks with her arms and legs. Functionally, this impacts on her ability to accurately
grade the force needed for gross and fine motor movements and develop an adequate
sense of her body position in space.
The second level of integration is reached when the three basic sensations tactile,
vestibular, and proprioceptive are integrated into body percept, coordination of the
two sides of the body, motor planning, activity level, attention span, and emotional
stability (Ayres, 2005:54). Although Kianah s vestibular system is processing input
efficiently, her tactile and proprioceptive systems are poorly integrated leading to
inefficient somatosensory processing. This leads to several other difficulties and
forms the underlying basis for her somatodyspraxia.
Children with somatosensory deficits struggle to development a sense of body
awareness or body scheme, and this affects praxis (Fisher et al., 1991:125). As a
result of her inability to process somatosensory input efficiently, Kianah has a poorly
developed body map or body percept, which in turn, affects her ability to plan and
execute novel motor actions. This leads to a somatodyspraxia
46. Green Roof Farming In The United States
In many parts of the United States, land for agriculture is becoming scarce. At the
same time, people want to eat foods with healthy, fresh ingredients. These two
trends have combined to create a new approach to farming on the roof. Rooftop
farming has its origins in the green roof movement, in which building owners plant
grass and other vegetation on the roof. So called green roofs have a number of
environmental benefits, including reducing temperatures and energy usage. In
addition, green roofs often provide habitat for animals and a welcome respite for
city dwellers. Over time, people have taken the concept of a green roof a step
further, adding garden plots with herbs or berries. More recently, larger commercial
farms have begun to appear
47. Messages About Morality and Politics Conveyed in...
A morality play is a medieval play designed to teach the audience right from wrong.
JB Priestley uses An Inspector call to convey a moral message, which is that you
should not judge people on their class i.e. lower working class/higher class. He
also expands the views of socialism within the message; this is all made very clear
by the use of dramatic devices. Although it is a morality play it is not in the
traditional format. Priestley makes it very clear in what he wants the audience to
think is moral and immoral. The play also conveys a strong political message. The
play encourages the idea of socialism, a society in which responsibility and
community are essential, also a place where the community all work together and are
responsible... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Mrs Birling could symbolise wrath, because she was angry at Eva Smith for
naming herself Mrs Birling . Shelia could symbolise envy as she was jealous or
Eva smith as she thought she was pretty and look better that she did in the dress.
Gerald could symbolise lust, as he had an affair with Eva. Being able to point out
that the Birlings can be identified as the sins shows the audience how JB Priestley
highlights the idea that capitalism is itself a sin. This is also why the genre of an
inspector calls is a morality play.
Two of the Birlings show a positive reaction to The Inspectors message, who are
Eric and Shelia, however Mr and Mrs Birling give a negative reaction. Priestley uses
the generation divide to show how the younger generation symbolise hope for the
future. Priestley shows that Eric and Shelia regret what they have done, which
suggests they will make an effort to improve their relationships with others, especially
towards the general public such as Eva Smith. However their parents are the complete
opposite, they are only interested in their wealth and material items.
Priestley sets out a sequence of stage directions at the beginning of the play, he
applies them successfully as a dramatic device. He uses the stage directions to show
the audience that the Birling family are cold and distant, and how supposedly
capitalism has affected their lives. Highlighting he gap between
48. The World s Largest Type Of Earthquake
The Pacific Northwest is often viewed is at risk for a megathrust earthquake of nine
magnitudes; the amount of destruction caused by this earthquake can be limited with
adequate preparation of infrastructure and comprehensive earthquake education. The
collision of the Juan de Fuca and North American plates make the Cascadia
Subduction Zone a potentially hazardous area. There has not been a megathrust
earthquakein the last 300 years or so in the northwest. The last megathrust
earthquake occurred on January 26, 1700. While there are no written records of the
earthquake, the tsunami it caused was recorded by villages in Japan. The rings of
surviving spruce trees from this earthquake provide evidence of a large natural
disaster in 1700. A... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Without a recent earthquake to study the effects before and after, an accurate
prediction cannot be made. The Cascadia Subduction Zone differs from other plate
boundaries in a number of ways, including its age, thermal structure and the
character of the seismogenic portion of the plate interface (e.g. Hyndman and Wang,
1993; 1995). It would therefore be helpful if further long term studies, such as those
referred to in this paper, are undertaken at other sites in the Pacific Northwest. (Long,
12) Using previously published data from Washington and Oregon, we find that the
analysis of Hyndman and Wang (1995) has greater support from the geological
record compared with that by Mitchell et al. (1994) However, both models must
address the significant differences which exist between their predictions and the long
term geological evidence for earthquakes and RSL change in Washington and Oregon.
(12)
There have been other efforts made to predict the next megathrust earthquake in the
northwest, one of those being the study of slow earthquakes. These earthquakes are
consistent and have the potential to predict large earthquakes. They release fault
pressure over a period of weeks or months, rather than minutes like typical
earthquakes. The Cascadia Subduction Zone has some of the most periodic slow
earthquakes, and is thus the best studied in the world. The average rate of motion
along the plate boundary is 4 cm/yr, but as GPS measurements of surface deformation

The number one strength of the text is the financial statement model approach and
delaying introducing debits and credits for several chapters.

This approach provides a direct visual connection between journal entries and
financial statements. It enables students to see how each individual accounting event
affects decision making. Executives make few decisions without considering how
those decisions affect bottom line financial performance measures. The statements
model approach encourages students to develop real world thinking patterns.

51. report on the movie the patriot Essay
Patriot Cultural Assignment
The Patriot is an excellent movie. It may very well be one of the most exciting
and moving war drama movies of all time. There are very few films today that even
come
close to touching upon the American Revolution, which is why The Patriot is of such
importance. Nonetheless, during the film the actual American Revolution takes a back
seat and allows the center of the story to revolve around Benjamin Martin (played by
Mel Gibson) and his South Carolina family. Some examples of this would be the
focus on
Benjamin s eldest son Gabriel and how he goes against his father s wishes. As well as
Gabriel, the film focuses on Benjamin and what actions he takes and why. ... Show

Throughout to course of the movie there were a few inaccurate historical facts

What is Enterprise architecture?
Enterprise Architecture is the link between strategy and implementation. It is a top
down view of the structure of systems; it includes the fundamental organization of a
system, embodied by its components, their relationships to each other and the
environment, and the principles guiding its design. It can be defined as:
A means for describing business structures and processes that connect business

and its use are immutable and information flow is standardized, and the connectivity

Time to market.
Development can be speeded up and it also ensures that the selected solution is the
best fit and allows for future growth in response to the business needs.
It can also ensure that an organization is not tied to one particular vendor for a
solution. Furthermore it can reduce costs by removing multiple parallel systems with
one integrated system. It can also highlight opportunities for building greater quality
and flexibility into applications without increasing cost.
Finally, by looking at the business process it can identify new ways of thinking about
how the process can be improved which in turn could provide some competitive
advantage.
The primary purpose of Enterprise Architecture is to inform, guide, and constrain the
decisions for the enterprise, especially those related to IT investments. The true
challenge of enterprise engineering is to maintain the architecture as a primary
authoritative resource for enterprise IT planning. This goal is not met via enforced
policy, but by the value and utility of the information provided by the Enterprise
Architecture. Source: A Practical Guide to
54. Coins In Elizabethan Time Essay
There are different ways that coins were used around the Elizabethan time period.
One way was through coign (coyne) and a Livery system (Wagner 67). The Livery
system was a payment or allowance given to a servant from a lord (Wagner 67).
Money was measured by the weight, for example some coins were worth a pound
(Olsen 467 480). Coins back then were worth the exact value of the element (Olsen
467 480). The value of the coins changed all the time based on the value of the
element at the time (Olsen 467 480). Also, sometimes in times where they maybe
needed more moneythey would cut the value of the coins, they manly did this during
war time (Wagner 67). The coins were always silverand gold and were handwrought,
some coins on the other hand were manufactured in water mills (Olsen 476 480).
Some illegal ways that they would make the coins was that the people would melt
foreign money and then use it as english money (Olsen 476 480). They also,
clipped the coins, which is when you shave gold and silver edges from the coins to
rip people off (Wagner 67).... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The queen requested that they levy taxes on everyone (Benson 295). Parliament
would force these taxes onto the people (Andrew 153 154). They got the money by
putting taxes on land, imported goods, and wages (Benson 301). This was asked
by King Henry VIII (Benson 301). The reason they put taxes on things was so they
would have money for the war or whenever there might be an emergency (Benson
295 and 300). Also it gave merchants more profits so they would be able to then pay
their taxes (Hinds 37). Without taxes it would ve been very difficult to pay bills
(Hinds 37). They would also use taxes for people who couldn t care for themselves
(Lace 47). This was called the Welfare program and it gave these people simple jobs
and gave them a place to stay, which was usually a hospital (Lace
55. The Negative Effects Of Personal Devices In The Workplace
Allowing personal devices in the workplace can become an issue for some
companies. In today s world, technology has become problematic. Let s face it, we
live in a world that will leave their money at home before leaving their phones at
home. New research conducted by British psychologists shows that young adults use
their smartphones roughly twice as much as they estimate that they do. In fact, the
small preliminary study found that these young adults used their phones an average
of five hours a day that s roughly one third of their total waking hours. (Gregoire,
n.d.) As I discussed before the negative impact/dependence of phones has gotten out
of control. In my own opinion, allowing devices at work to any associate other than a
manager in the retail industry, fast foodcompanies, railroad, and restaurant
companies, isn t worth the trouble. Can you imagine going into your favorite retail
store and the associateis distracted with their phones other than assisting you. The
associate will give the companybad morale, decrease productivity, and lack
customer service skills. I work in a retail industry and I am part of the management
team, from my experience some associates can retain from their phones and others
simply cannot. I have an associate by the name of Orianna. Ori is categorized under
the new generation. She must stay connected to social media and urges to text her
friend s other than being focus at work. She takes unnecessary bathroom breaks to use
her phone
56. The Abolition Movement Analysis
Having his own anti slavery newspaper, Garrison utilized the paper to engage in the
abolition movement. According to Henry Mayer, a journalist, he said, When
Garrison founded The Liberator and dedicated it to the immediate abolition of
slavery and the realization of equal rights for all (105). This demonstrates that
Garrison wanted to use his paper to end slavery in the country, which shows that he
was an abolitionist that he wanted to abolish such brutal practices in the country. In
The Liberator, abolish slavery was always the only topic. Garrison once said to the
slaves that, your moral and intellectual elevation, the advancement of your rights,
and the defense of your character, will be a leading object of our paper. (Jacobs 260).

In the first article of The Liberator, Garrison claimed, I seize this opportunity to
make a full and unequivocal recantation, and thus publicly to ask pardon of my
God, of my country, (Garrison Cain, 72). This shows that Garrison tried to address
to the public that slavery was a very important issue for the country and they must
resolve it. For himself, he will use his paper to engage in Abolition Movement and
he wanted the support of the people in the movement. While Garrison was not only
able to convince people to join, he also persuaded the slaves to stand up for
themselves. In one of The Liberator s articles, Address to the Slaves of the United
States , Garrison stated, Although you have many enemies, yet you have also many
friends warm, faithful, sympathizing, devoted friends who will never abandon your
cause (Garrison Cain 109). In another word, this means that although the slaves had
to face a lot of things, they also had a lot of people to stand with them too, such as
the abolitionists. In this article, Garrison tried to encourage slaves to stand up for
themselves to make changes for themselves and also voiced out their own views. He
also told them that if they willing to stand up for themselves, more people will notify
the existing of such movement and will become a national issue. Therefore, Garrison
contributed so much to the abolition

to realize that girl on girl sabotage was not the way she needed to act and instead

things to happen to other girls when she felt like they were getting what she
thought she deserved. When she was hanging out with a boy that she was hoping

what she thought after their conversation was she wished the girl he was in love

though she had made a pact with herself to never instigate girl on girl sabotage
ever again, she still wished bad things on the girls who she did not believe deserved
what they were getting, She still saw herself as competing with this girl for a boy.

58. How Did Rockefeller Start A Monopoly
John Rockefeller
John D. Rockefeller started the United States first monopoly. Rockefeller is
recorded as the seventh wealthiest person to ever live on Earth. Rockefeller used his
huge amount of money to donate to many various philanthropic causes. He started
his oil company in 1870 buying out many other competitors along the way. By 1882,
Rockefeller had a monopoly and had control over 90% of the United States oil

John Davison Rockefeller was born in Richford, New York on July 8, 1839. His
family moved to Cleveland, Ohio when he was 14. As a teenager, Rockefeller did
many small business jobs, getting his first office job at 16 as an assistant
bookkeeper at Hewitt and Tuttle, who were merchants and produce shippers. He
did well as all of his jobs, so at the age of 20, a business partner and he started
working as merchants, selling meats, grains, hay, and other various things. After
just one year, that company earned 450,000 dollars. Rockefeller felt there was a

30 March 2010 Racism in Disney During the last several decades, the media has
become a strong agent in directing and controlling social beliefs and behaviors.
Children, by nature, can be particularly susceptible to the influencing powers of the
media, opening an avenue where media created especially for children can
indoctrinate entire generations. Disney movies, like all other media are powerful
vehicles for certain notions about our culture, such as racism. (Giroux 32). Racist

have been intended as harmless and as an attempt to be politically correct; however,
it is cinematic decisions such as this that contributed to Disney s reputation of being
insensitive to issues of race. It was insulting enough for Disney to include the smiling
servant stereotype to begin with, but to make matters worse, they started denying
Sunflower s existence with the Fantasia re release in 1960. How does that possibly
make things better? A few angered African Americancommunities said, No, you
misunderstand. In our perfect, Fantasia world, Africans aren t servants. They don t
fucking exist (Weinman 64). A contemporary filmcritic said, What s fun though is
that Disney says they never had such a character! We re all delusional (Brunette

racist features; nevertheless, it is strange to deny its existence to audiences who
had already seen the original version. This is how we deal with our ugly past: we
deny it, trivialize it, gloss over it with pretty distractions and wishful thinking. Doing
so, we deny ourselves a glimpse of the compelling reality of naked history. The well
meaning rush to unmake evil deeds by hiding them from the critical eye of modern
sensibilities does nothing to honor the people
