Comparing The Desktop And Other Computer Systems
Comparing the Desktop with other computer systems
Advantages
Top of the range desktops have more power than laptops, micro computers, mobile devices and all
in One PCs.
To start off, desktops can contain much more hardware than a mobile device or microcomputer and
AIO PCs, the outcome of being able to store so many components is the result of fitting high
quality parts that are more power immense in the computing industry so desktops beat small
devices on meeting possibilities.
The desktop has the extra benefit of being extremely customisable to adapt to the user and
environmental challenges
Extending from previous points, the desktop can surpass other systems in terms of using
components that can be located swiftly whilst being changeable in order for a client to upgrade,
this is ideal in the industry for those that want to commission their system for a preferable
experience.
Disadvantages
Highly bulky compared with the other mobile, all in one and micro systems
On the other hand, due to the occupation of desktops for retention of more dynamic components
that are heavy, the weight builds up to create a computer device that is forced to be in one space
involuntary for usage on the go in comparison to mobile devices.
Need a big space
Furthermore, the last disadvantage is users have an insufficient device for versatility, clients would
have to make additional purchases of a big platform and chair to use or support the technology so
that it is strenuous to breakage whilst

Summer Reading Assignment Analysis
AP 3 Summer Reading Assignment
Students in AP Language and Composition (AP3) are required to arrive to the first day of school
having completed the Summer Reading Assignment. Students are to read Nickel and Dimed by
Barbara Ehrenreich and the essays listed below. Then, complete the corresponding assignment
(explained below). The assignment is to be turned in the first day of the 2015 2016 school year
(August 29th, 2015). According to the College Board, The aim of [the AP Language and
Composition course] is to help students develop the ability to read critically and evaluate sources
so that they can write from and in response to those sources. Students should learn to interrogate a
text, not only to discern what it is saying but also to understand how and why it proposes what it
does. Students are strongly encouraged to take notes on their reading while they are reading (active
reading), and read the text more than once. It is highly suggested that students purchase the novel
to allow direct annotation in the book (for tips on annotating, click HERE and HERE). Students
who are unable to gain access to the book via the library, online, through other means, must contact

Essay about Cannibalism
Cannibalism is the consumption of human flesh by other human beings. The concept of people
eating other people is highly debatable, but it has been proven to occur throughout history. The
word cannibalism comes from the Carib Indians of the West Indies, which were called Caribales
quot; or Canibales (Spier 543). The Spanish word canibales translates to thirsty and cruel in
English. Another known term for cannibalismis the Latin form anthropophagy (Bell).
Anthropophagy derives from the Greek words anthropos meaning man and phagein meaning eat.
The term anthropophagy was used in ancient times, which suggests that people from ancient times
consumed other humanbeings (Spier 543).
The first documented encounter of cannibalism ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
After half of the travelers had died, the remaining people started to eat the flesh of the deceased in
attempts of survival. Forty six survivors were eventually rescued, but they received excessive
judgement for their actions. They were tried for their crimes of cannibalism, and they all served six
months in prison before they could return to their communities (Bell).
Another case of survival cannibalism took place in 1972 when a group of South American
rugby players were stranded in the Andes Mountains. Forty five people left on an airplane for
their destination of Chile, and only sixteen would make it alive. Their plane crashed into the
Andes Mountains, killing thirteen people from the crash itself. The crash also injured many
others who would eventually die over the weeks from their injuries. The mountains offered no
supplies or food for support. With no food, many of the crash survivors resorted to eating the
deceased. Those survivors who refused to eat their fellow people died of starvation. This group of
people spent seventy days in the mountains before the sixteen survivors were rescued and brought
home (Bell). The story of these South American athletes would be the plot for the movie Alive
(1993) which was based on a true story (Goldman).
Another form of cannibalism that has taken place is spiritual and ritual cannibalism. There are
many forms of it worldwide. The first is exocannibalism which is when a group or

The Importance Of Art And The Judgement Of Hunefer
Art by its nature is a subject of the philosophical, social, economic, political or religious context
surrounding its creator. More often than not, a work of art addresses a specific topic or
somewhat revolves around a particular person. Therefore, it is impossible to separate the context
of a piece of painting, either historical or cultural, to its intrinsic value or the artwork s meaning.
On the other hand, different cultures and time utilized specific conventions that govern the
representation of objects of creativity. This essay highlights various pieces of art and their
relationship to particular cultural, political, economic, or social settings. Moreover, it pinpoints
how different times influence art presentation. One of the pieces of art that shows the relationship
between context and art is the Judgement of Hunefer as illustrated in the Book of The Dead
(Kleiner, 2016). The Judgement of Hunefer is a painting on a papyrus scroll showing the journey
of Hunefer, a royal scribe, and steward of Seti, from his death to the afterlife. The image illustrates
several items including spells and prayers needed to secure a happy immortality (Kleiner, 2016).
Moreover, the picture shows several steps in transition into the afterlife including Anubis, the jackal
headed god of embalmment leading Hunefer into the hall of judgment, Anubis weighing Hunefer s
heart against a feather, and finally Hunefer meeting Horus to receive an award of the eternal life
(Kleiner, 2016). The

Comparison Of The Maltese Falcon And Citizen Kane
Two of the first film noir pieces, The Maltese Falcon and Citizen Kane, share many similarities
in structure and style. Their biggest similarities are the plant and payoff technique, and
meaningless quests the main characters embark upon. In The Maltese Falcon, a detective, Sam
Spade, is tasked with finding a golden falcon by Brigid O Shaunessy. He is not told of the falcon
until Brigid s former partner, Joel Cairo, offers to pay Spade for the falcon. Consequently, Spade
discovers Brigid is lying to him about her identity, having originally given an alternate name. All
the while, Spade doesn t know the falcon s location until a ship captain comes into Spade s
office and dies, holding the falcon. This leads to Spade bargaining for the falcon, after which,
the falcon is finally unwrapped, and discovered to be fake. The film concludes with Cairo
setting off to try and track down the real falcon, and Spade left alone without the money he was
promised for it. However, in Citizen Kane, the film starts off with Charles Kane dying on the
floor of his mansion, saying rosebud. Then the film cuts to a newsreel about Kane s life, which is
dismissed as too impersonal. Subsequently, a reporter, Thompson, is sent to discover rosebud .
Throughout the movie, Kane s acquaintances tell Thompson about his life, few mentioning
rosebud. Finally, the movie ends in Kane s mansion, reporters cataloguing all of Kane s
possessions. Thompson is asked by fellow reporters if he ever discovered the

Social Abstivation Aspects Of Social Observation
Robert is 5 years old and this observation took place at a family party, in a great social setting. I
received clearance to observe Robert by both his mother and father. Robert is an only child and
spends his time equally between his maternal and paternal families due to the fact that his parents
are separated. He is a third generation Mexican American. He seems to be growing fairly well in
reference to his height and weight compared to other children his age. Throughout much of the
afternoon, I observed calm behavior and much later, I observed a more boisterous behavior. At the
beginning of the observationhe walked into the social setting being almost oblivious to the people
around him, not wanting to formally greet members of the family until his father asked him to do
so. After this, Robert sat at a table alone until children approached him and then he became a little
less shy in demeanor.
The next transition in this observation began at the time children started to come, Robert
nervously asks a group of children if he can play with them and the group accepts. Much of the
observation between Robert, the group of children, and playtime consisted of playing with a
basketball in which there is no clear objectives or rules , playing shooting or bad guy, good guy
games, and just aimlessly, randomly running throughout the yard and home. Robert doesn t seem to
lead in any of these activities and seems to get his point across but does it in a timid manner. If any

Midland Energy Resources, Inc. Essay
Midland Energy Resources, Inc.
1.0 Case Brief/Summary
Midland Energy Resources, Inc. (?Midland?) is a leading global energy firm with an array of
energy product and services. Midland operates under three distinctive business segments. The E P
segment entails searching for viable underground or underwater gas and oil fields, by drilling the
exploratory wells, and afterward operating these wells that recover, bringing raw natural gas and
crude oil to the surface. The R M segment deals in base stock lubricants and gasoline, while the
petrochemicals entails marketing and selling of various petrochemical products, including
aromatics, styrene, polypropylene, polyethylene, and lubricant and fuel additives. Midland has
proven very profitable over the years, recording $248.5B in revenues, and $42.2B in operating
income. The senior VP, Janet Mortensen, has been tasked to compute the corporate WACC, using
appropriate estimates and data.
2.0: Problem Statement
The task by Ms. Mortensen to compute the weighted Cost of Capital (WACC) is vital in attaining
four objectives: (1) to support financial accounting and capital budgeting decisions, (2) for
performance assessments, (3) to inform merger and acquisition proposals, and (4) to support stock
repurchase proposals. But the cost of capital approximations by Ms. Mortensen appears to misguide
these decisions. This is because the inputs and assumptions are misleading as evidenced by
criticism by the controllers and division

Seeing One Country as 2
Seeing One Country as Two
At the turn of the 19th century the United States had accomplished a change in power without
violence. The inauguration of Thomas Jefferson marked a time in history when things everywhere
started to progress rapidly. The two dominant regions the North and South, looked like it would
be bearable to work with each other and be able to discuss any problems with healthy debates.
However as time progressed toward the 1860s, the North and South proved to differentiate among
each other with few similarities. Economically, the North was based on manufacturing while the
South was rural based. Socially, the North was generally anti slavery while the South was pro
slavery. And lastly, politically, we see the return of the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Abolitionist movements began to arise in the North and this did not delight the Southern
slaveholders. Slavery was encouraged by Hinton R. Helper in this publishing of Impending
Crisis of the South. But it didn t create a lasting effect for emancipation was dropped. Due to
this, stricter slave laws were placed as many slaves attempted to rebel such as Prosser and Vesey.
Their differences on social issues were the main cause of why the civil was even erupted. With the
inauguration of Jefferson As President, it seemed as political issues in the new republic were not
going to be that much of an issue. This political tranquility did not last the first 60 years of the
1800s. As the era of good feelings came to the end with the Whig party, the two party system, had
returned to the United States. This development created further separation between the South and
North as one party was dominant in one region and a different one in the other. As this separation
was created, it helped create the inevitable was between the North and South. The only noticeable
political similarity would be their Southern Code of Honor system and Northern character . It both
represented that they each strived for living a specific way of life. The differences far outweigh
their similarities and the economical, social, and political issues all contributed to the divergence of
the North and South. What had started as a country rich on relying itself on unity, turned into a

Smartphone Addiction
Is Smartphone Addiction Killing Today s Teens? The arrival of the smartphones had radically
changed every aspect of teenagers lives, from the nature of their social interactions to their
mental health (Twenge 60). Smartphones are easy to carry mobile devices that almost have the
functions of a computer like internet access, video games, social networks, and of course calls
and text messages. In 2014 in the USA almost 60% of the population owned a smartphone
(Cheever, et al. 291). The percentage of people that own a smartphone has been increasing fast
since then, especially in young people who overuse their mobile devices. Excessive use of
smartphones is associated with the addiction to these devices and other psychological imbalances
that can lead to death. Smartphone addiction is changing the behavior and attitudes of today s
teenagers which can lead to serious psychological issues. Excessive use of smartphones can lead
to addiction, which can cause radical behavioral changes, sleep deprivation and serious physical
and psychological problems over time. For people who use their smartphones more on a daily
basis, it becomes harder for them to live without these mobile devices (Cheever 290). Smartphone
and internet addiction is a compulsive usage of Internet or smartphone in an excessive and
immoderate way (Yildiz 66). Some teens and young college students feel the need to be connected
to their smartphones all the time (Chisholm 77) to maintain certain status among their

The Principle Of The Distributive View Of Equality
(2 Dworkin) Ronald Dworkin is a luck egalitarian, and he endorses the distributive view of
equality. In his article, What is Equality? Part 2: Equality of Resources, he differentiates the brute
luck and option luck, and this distinction is influential in the later development of luck
egalitarianism. In this paper, I will examine Dworkin s distinction between option luck and brute
luck, also I will bring up Vallentyne s argument which is against Dworkin s distinction. Lastly, I
will raise an example showing that Dworkin s distinction may not be able to cut option luck and
brute luck clearly in some situation. Dworkin s distinction between two kinds of luck Dworkin
differentiates option luck and brute luck in the following ways: option... Show more content on

Based on Dworkin s view of distributive equality, people should be compensated materially if
they suffer in the outcome of bad brute luck because having bad brute luck is out of their
control, and it is not related to their previous decision. In contrast, people should not be
compensated, if they suffer in the outcome of bad option luck since having bad option luck is
related to their pervious decision, and people are responsible for their decision makings
(whether the outcome is good or not), so the people should not be compensated. Moreover,
Dworkin illustrates that brute luck and option luck could be connected by insurance; he claims
that buying an insurance to prevent the unexpected bad brute luck is a considered decision, so it
would be classified in option luck. It will be a good option luck if people suffer in the outcome
of bad brute luck because it makes people better off during the suffering period. Also, Dworkin
clarifies that the insurance does not take away the distinction between brute luck and option luck
(293). I will explain this claim using the student example; if the student has purchased an
insurance for traffic accidents, he still suffers in the bad brute luck if he gets crashed by a car
since the scenario would be better if he purchased the insurance and does not need to make the
insurance claim. However, he is still better off in terms of he has better option

The Conflict Between Greece And Persia
Once the conflict between Greece and Persia had ceased in 479 BCE, Athens found themselves
following a new leader, an Athenian statesman, Pericles, who had a fervent interest in advancing
Athens. Under Pericles leadership, Athens experienced a period of time in the 5th century where
they were regarded as the cultural, intellectual and commercial heart of the Hellenic world. Their
hegemony and superiority contributed to the creation of a Golden Age, a valid title, which is
currently embraced by historians. During this period of time, Athensflourished with culture, art and
literature, had an impact in the scientific and medical world, and had a substantial amount of
influence and control over the rest of Greece.
Pericles was often referred to as the Patron of the Arts due to his immense dedication and passion
towards it. His passion led to Athens experiencing their peak of culture with a burst of art and
literature surfacing. Pericles directed projects to advance Athens culturally, such as lowering
admission prices for plays to allow the lower class entry (History.com Staff, 2009) and was
responsible for the world s most recognised Acropolis, which is a citadel or complex that has been
built on a high hill. Acropolis was originally designed to be a single temple to honour Greek
goddess, Athena, however, Pericles made the decision to expand the project after the first temple,
Parthenon, was completed. The other temples that Pericles made plans to build, Erechtheum and

The Theory Of Evolution Of Human History And Modern Thinking
Since the dawn of time, the theory of evolution has played an important role in the process of
understanding human history and modern thinking. However, this theory didn t always have an
explicit term to clarify its meaning. Philosophers embraced the ideals of knowledge and
enlightenment of reason searching for answers as to better understand the origins of mankind and
how it attributes to what it means to be human. Alongside social progress and intellectual
development, fascinating new discoveries were made through observation and experimentation, and
as a result, the revolutionary realm of science emerged to become a timeless, universally systematic
phenomenon of practiced knowledge. Thus, it was during the beginning of this scientific era, when
individuals like Jean Baptiste Lamarck and Charles Darwinincorporated the theory of evolutionas an
understanding of progressive change and development of different species over time. And so, this
fresh, scientific phenomenon allowed great thinkers examine how the notion of evolution has an
influence on society from a philosophical standpoint. Although they express differing perspectives
on the subject, Gilman, Veblen, and Freud ultimately illuminate how evolution is denoted by the
development of instincts and affected by how they are either suppressed or acted upon to attain
happiness.
As a female philosopher, Charlotte Perkins Gilman s Women Economics, argues that Darwin s
theories on the process of human evolution portray the

A Very Old Man With Enormous Wings Literary Analysis
A Very Old Man With Enormous Wings by Gabriel Garcia Marquez was written in 1955. It is A
Tale for Children however it is rather complex and not just a simple story. This short story
questions the way people interpret the world in different ways, such as, myths, stories, etc. The
story makes one question what he would do if he were to be confronted by supernatural beings
and inspires one to take a closer look at our normal lives and the events that take place which are
not normal and may have another meaning and can changes one s life. It also inspires readers to
think and question their life and events and whether they should be more kind and not be
superficial. According to Tom Faulkner, the style of writing in this story is called... Show more

Furthermore, Tornaritis compares the old man to the spider girl through their difference in clarity.
The old man was difficult if not impossible to interpret whereas the Spider girl delights the people
with the clarity of her story . Tornaritis explains that the spider girl is more appealing to the public
because her story lacks mystery and is of human morality however the old man is full of
complexity. Tornaritis says that Marquez is trying to portray that the truly human qualities in life
are the Old Man s uncertainty, mystery, strangeness, open endedness whereas the trite moralizing of
the Spider Girl is actually far from human experience. It merely consoles the people, whereas the
Old Man by revealing our cruelty shows them their true nature (Tornaritis). Marquez was indirectly
trying to show the reader how we behave at times, and is trying to raise questions in their minds.
Ambiguity is also another main theme in the story. Uncertainty and questions are persistent all
through the story. According to Tornaritis, Marquez uses a constantly changing narrative voice to
complicate both the setting and the events in question (Tornaritis). The old man is a central
character yet his name is not revealed, and whether he even existed remains a mystery. In the end,
Marquez says he was now an imaginary

The Impact Of Settler Colonialism In The Navajo Nation
The DinГ© means The People and it is what the people that we know presently as the Navajo
went by. The Red Nation article Considering a Navajo Name Change: Self Identification, Land,
and Liberation by Majerle Lister states that Navajo is not a DinГ© word or concept, despite its
use as our [the DinГ©] official name for more than a hundred and fifty years. This is a clear
example of how settler colonialism has impacted the Navajo Nation. Settler colonialism has had an
impact in the Peoplehood matrix of the Navajo from language and sacred history to place/territory
and ceremonial cycles, yet it has not stop efforts from the Navajo Community to mend the damage
that settler colonialism has had on their culture over the years. Let s start with the language portion
of the Peoplehood matrix and the affects that settler colonialism has had on Navajo. In Peoplehood,
it is stated that the language portion of the Peoplehood matrix is a group particular language, by
way of its nuances, references, and grammar, gives a sacred history a meaning of its own,
particularly if origin, creation, migration, and other stories are spoken rather than written (Holm, et

Comparison of the Tempest and Forbidden Planet Essay
Jamie Roberts
ENGL 1000P2
Prof. B. Johnson

Morbius Fatal Folly
As pointed out by Merrell Knighten in his essay called The Triple Paternity of Forbidden Planet,
the main difference between Shakespeare s The Tempest and the 1956 science fiction adaptation
Forbidden Planet (referred to as FP) is the use and control of power. In The Tempest, Prospero
knows what power he holds through the use of his books and spells, and ultimately uses these
powers to restore order to the island. However, in forbidden Planet, Morbius powers are unknown
to him and ultimately lead to his demise. This essay will show how Morbius may be considered a
more disastrous character than Prospero due to his lack of realization of the power which ... Show

For Miranda s lover Ferdinand, the film inserts Commander Adams who is in fact the leader of
the rescue expedition sent to relieve Dr. Morbius and his supposed companions. There are no
relations between the film and the play with regards to Morbius fellow colonizers of Altair 4,
but this has to do with the fact that the film was a sci fi adaptation. The drunken butler Stephano
is countered in the film with the Tennessee bourbon sloshing space cook. The character of
Caliban resonates in the film by use of the Id monster, and finally Ariel is engrossed through the
character of Robby the Robot. A closer reading of some of the characters in FP will reveal
parallels outlined by Campos. Campos shines light on the fact that [Prospero and Morbius] are
figures that, isolated from the rest of mankind, have devoted their lives to the study of some books
which have granted them an extraordinary, almost supernatural power (Campos, 285). The main
connections between the two are their utilization of science and magic. As pointed out by Campos,
the film gives a clear implication that science becomes the magic of the future (286). This statement
seems to be truthful as in Shakespeare s time magic would be thought to be no different from the
scientific breakthroughs of our time. For example a Shakespearean audience would marvel at the
strides science has taken in the modern day, such as the utilization of electricity.

no intention of backing down at anything unless he feels like backing down. This relates to
Stanley for the obvious reasons of aggression but also in the fact that Stanley never backed down
from trying to get Blanche to leave his home and his wife alone. The costume that Stanley would

Colored People in Jazz by Toni Morrison
Toni Morrison chose the title Jazz of this book because jazz symbolize increasing complex styles
and that fits in the title because of the parts that happened throughout the story. It also
symbolizes movement because jazz is fast pace music and fast dancing so that is another reason
why Toni Morrison picked the title of this book. It was a lot of movement in the book with some
of the main characters in the story and their movement was fast just like jazz. I believe she also
picked this title because jazz also means honest, benevolent, brilliant, and full of high
inspirations and that is what some of the characters showed in the story. The meaning jazz can
also tie into the story because some of them showed a control over others affairs. The sitting and
genre of this novel takes place in Virginia during the Harlem Renaissance in the early mid 1900
s. Basically most of the events in the story took place on a street called Lenox Ave. I can tell that
this street of Virginia has a lot of excitement and is always busy. Everybody knows everyone
business. The people in Virginia very friendly too during this time period. One of the main
characters have a lot of friends that she can go to for information about people around the
neighborhood. Just like any other television show or movie from the early 1900s in the black
neighborhoods every female can always go to the beauty shop to get the latest dirt on people in
town. My idea about the first main character

Traumatic Experience Case Study
Possible Physiological Impacts And Changes In Brain Anatomy After Traumatic Experiences And

Brian Fendler
University of Hartford
Case Study of Traumatic Experience in an Adult
The case study was a case of a victim who had suffered from the traumatic experience and was then
under rehabilitation. The traumatic experience lasted for almost five years, during which the victim
was subjected to torture, humiliation and feeling of hopelessness. Furthermore, instances of pain
and feeling of being an outcast were rampant in the victim s life at the time. The experience was
worsened by the feeling of pain that was common in the victim s daily life. The traumatic
experience occurred when the victim was in his childhood years, in a social hall within his
hometown.
The event of the traumatic experience was being taken hostage by terrorist while in a social hall.
During the hostage, the victim was left with no choice but to remain calm and obey orders of the
terrorist. The only way of coming out of the traumatic incident was a diplomatic approach through a
possible negotiation. The family member, on the other hand, showed a lot ... Show more content on

The Species Are Declining Around The World
Background Information
Amphibians in General
Amphibian species are declining around the world. According to The IUCN Red List of
Threatened Species one third of the about 6,500 extant amphibian species as threatened with
extinction (Rödder et al., 2009, p. 53). Main threats to amphibians include habitat loss
/degradation, global warming, pollution, invasive species, over exploitation and pathogens
(Wanner, 2015). Amphibians are considered an indicator species. Indicator species are very
sensitive to a changing environment and when they begin to decline as a result, it serves as a
warning to other species, including humans (Wanner, 2015). Wanner stresses that The risk of losing

Not all amphibians are affected by chytrid fungus the same way. Susceptibility of B. dendrobatidis
in amphibian hosts depends upon the particular species immune system make up; some species
have antimicrobial peptides and mutualistic bacteria that fight epidermal infections (Stockwell,
Storrie, Pollard, Clulow, Mahony, 2014, p.397). And there is evidence that some amphibian species
can clear chytrid fungal infection (Retallick, McCallum, Speare, 2004, p. 1970).
Origin
Chytrid fungus is very widespread and prevalent in watersheds around the world. Bd is
prevalent in amphibian populations in Australia, Panama, Ecuador, Venezuela, New Zealand,
and Spain and has been found in every continent that has amphibians. (Weldon, Preez, Hyatt,
Muller, Speare, 2004, p. 2100). The specific origin of chytrid fungus is not fully known.
However the earliest evidence of Bd was found in Africa in the 1930s on skin samples from
African clawed frogs (Xenopus laevis) (Rosenblum et al., 2010, p.1). It spread from there via the
large exportation of these frogs in the light of the discovery of pregnancy assays (Weldon et al.,
2004, p. 2102). The pregnancy assay devised from these frogs is based on the fact that when urine
from pregnant woman is injected under the frog s skin, the urine contains sufficient hormones to
make the frog ovulate, thus producing a positive result of pregnancy for that woman (Marris, 2009).

The Club Français du Vin case study
This case study discusses ordering and forecasting process of the wine company Club Français

trough catalog offers. The main catalog is the Etiquette, which includes a selection of 30 to 40
wines that the clients can then choose and order by mail, phone, fax or by internet. The members
also receive other two leaflets, La Selection (shows three recommendations for the season) and La

Although if they cannot sell in the appropriate (if they have to sell at discount), they will incur in
this cost of capital; * We assume the cost of capital to be a stated annual rate to facilitate
calculations; * As stated in the guidelines, we also assume that the mean of the demand is equal to
the product of the mean of the forecasting error and the forecast itself, and the same for the
standard deviation of demand; * To compute the lost function we use the following formula:
UNL(z)=f(z) z(1 F(z))
Now that we have exposed our assumptions, we can start going into more detail on the case itself.
First, as this is an inventory management case study, we are going to determine the optimal order
quantity of each type of wine, so that afterwards we can make include a more financial view of the
problem and make some recommendations.
Optimal order quantity:
To compute the optimal order quantity of each wine we firstly needed to compute the unit cost per
bottle and the salvage value of each. From the description of the case we could easily identify that
the unit cost of each bottle was 50% (gross margin) of the price plus the 1,25€ per bottle of the
transportation costs. With this we computed the unitary cost of each type of wine.
Afterwards we needed to compute the salvage value. Here the calculations aren t that simple
because we have to account

Ancient Mayan Script Of The Maya
Ancient Mayan Script The Maya hieroglyphic writing is perhaps one of the most complex
writing systems in the world. This writing system contains over hundreds of rare signs or glyphs
in the form of humans, animals, and objects. Many of these signs contained either logograms or
syllabograms to write words, sentences, and phrases. Logograms were to used express the
meaning and syllabograms to denote sound values. The Mayan s were able to write anything that
they can say. They were able to turn whatever they spoke into a writing form because of their one
of a kind writing system. The Maya were actually not a group of single people but many nations
with several but linked cultures, religions, and languages. Of the many Maya languages, only two...

He found a specific category of hieroglyph that he called Emblem Glyphs he noticed that this
glyph had a standard position and form in Maya texts: they occurred towards the end of
passages (Culbert 19). Another important object found was the Maya Glyph Block (AMNH),
which contained Mayan Glyphs on a block. We found that the order to read Maya glyphs is not
as easy as it would seem. Glyph blocks were arranged in a grid and they are read in paired
columns. The first block is on the top left and the second is to the right of the first. (AS Web)
Next thing that major in the Maya writing system was the numbers. Numbers and Calendar were
the first part of the Mayan writing system to be deciphered by scholars during the 19th century.
Comparable to our writing system and the Babylonians, the Maya used the idea of place value.
Except we have a place value that increases from right to left in multiples of 10, the Maya system
has a place value that increases in multiples of 20. Instead of the place value increasing
horizontally from right to left, the Maya increased vertically moving up the page. For example,
three is represented and three dots and five are represented as a bar. The Maya scribes loved
decoration and complexity for its own sake as a result each number from 1 to 20

Changes Brewing For African American History
Changes Brewing for African Americans in 1950s
Determined to write a play about African American experience in the United States for every
decade during the 20th century, Wilson has written many plays representing each of these decades.
Fences is one of such plays about African American in the 1950 s. It began in 1957 and ended in
1965; however, the 1950s marks the time period when the struggle against segregation and racial
discrimination became strong in the mainstream of American life, showing that the wind of change
was blowing. Bringing to consciousness events taking place prior to civil right movement in fences,

This setting is noteworthy because of the industrial importance of the north to African Americans
in the decades preceding civil war. According to Richard, Troy Maxson s father a sharecropper was
frustrated by the fact that every crop took him further into depth (1018). Richard means that
economical state of the south was not favorable for sharecroppers and mostly backs. During that
period, poverty, racial discrimination and savage conditions in the south caused many blacks
including Troy and other men to migrate to the industrial north in search of a means of livelihood,
but these men were met with utter disappointment. With no infrastructure or resources to live on,
men like Troy and Bono resorted to living in shacks, committing crimes and ending up in jail.
Wilson clearly shows a relationship between the freeing of the slaves and disproportionate number
of African Americanmen in jail as well as in low income occupations by contending that the
majority of unequipped, resource less and homeless group released into a competitive and financed
society will find it difficult surviving lawfully in such a society. Wilson s characters attest to the fact
that the United States failed African American after Abraham Lincoln ended slavery and that the
United States failure, legalized through Jim Crow laws and other measures taken lawfully to ensure
inequality, continues to affect many black lives. Wilson depicts the 1950s as a time period when

case of Deepwater Horizon, the biases that impacted the decision making were representativeness,

The rational model shows that individuals use the data that they have obtained to develop a

The Compromise Of The Declaration Of Independence Essay
It was a Thursday in 1776; the Second Continental Congress was meeting to sign the Declaration
of Independence. In the very words of the document, Americans agreed to the ideas that all men
were created equal with unalienable rights; among these were Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of
Happiness. The young country, even though there were different opinions and ideas had
compromised for the betterment of all Americans. Compromise; the definition is the agreement
or settlement of a dispute that is reached by each side making concessions. The country had
extensive opportunities to compromise on laws, territories, societies, and industrializations. By
1860, the sense of compromise started to disappear, and America stood on the verge of
monumental discord. The Compromise of 1820 brought both sides of the slavery debate to an
agreement. In 1819, Missouri proposed to join the Union as a slave state. If Missouri joined as a
slave state, this would teeter the balance in the House of Representatives with a greater number
of pro slavery Congressman. In the compromise, Congress initiated a two part plan; to admit
Missouri as a slave state and Maine as a free state and a new boundary line was drawn at longitude
36в—¦ 30 through the former Louisiana Territory separating free and slave states.1 The compromise
settled each side for a time, but the sectional and political conflicts continued to escalate.
Consequently, after the Mexican American War (1846 1848), the country needed

about public schools is that it s free to attend and they provide their students with school buses

public school and you do not live their district, then you would have to pay tuition. Private
schools are very common especially in foreign countries. In foreign countries schools are private
because usually the government does not have the money needed to fund a public school. There
are two types of private schools; religious and non religious private schools. Firstly, private
schools are simply schools that are not funded by the state, that have the ability to make their own

The Fundamental Law Of Nature And Government
In this essay I will be arguing that the prerogative is a right that is needed by the executive
branch in order to fulfill the fundamental law of nature and government: the preservation of all of
its members. So long as the fiduciary grant is meant to achieve this goal it has the right to be
exercised at the discretion of its user. This argument will discuss the nature of the prerogative, its
necessity, and its justification for use. This will be supported with evidence from Locke s Second
Treatise of Government. The prerogative is not an abusive instrument that is meant to subverts the
laws society; it is a tool meant to adhere with utmost urgency to the fundamental law of society:
doing what is best for the people and their property. It is meant to ensure that not even its own laws
can do harm to the citizens it so righteously protects. The enshrinement of this ideal is founded on
the social contractall members of civil society enter into when they become a part of society. This
contract is created from something as well; the law that governed man in its original state of
nature, reason. Locke asserts that man was born into the world in a perfect state of freedom to
order his own actions. He is capable of reciprocal jurisdiction without consent from any outside
influence. Abiding by the law of nature he came to find that all men were independent and equal
by divine will. Since God had created all men they would be his property, and thus all would be

The plaintiffs pointed out that Campbell had recorded all customer sales on an FOB shipping
point basis. In fact, the actual shipping terms for many of Campbell s sales were FOB destination.
PwC was aware of this practice and had decided that since Campbell used the sales cutoff policy
consistently, it would not have a material effect on Campbell s operating results. The judge found

reserves for those sales returns. The plaintiffs charged that PwC must have known about Campbell s

The Revolutionary War By David Mccullough Essay
1776 written by David McCullough was a very accurate portrayal of the the revolutionary war.
The author chose to write the events with mostly a non biased perspective and was able to use
multiple sources from the time. This allowed the author to write the book in an interesting way and
inform the reader of this vital time in the nation s history. The book focuses on the life and struggles
of George Washingtonas he progresses through life and the war. It was helpful that the author
showed his perspective and thoughts as he grew to become the leader many people think him as
today. It is stated that George washington was not a very strong leader when he took control on
July third, but it was his perseverance and unrelenting determination that ultimately won the war.
Also, The author chose to give insight into the other important leaders who influenced how the
war progressed through the year. This was not only accomplished by direct quotes but the author
also explained why some decisions were made on both sides made the events less complicated.
The fact that the author chose to focus of Washington and the troops lives also made it more
personal and it helped that the narrative did not jump around to give an overview of the war from
all perspectives.

The Civilizations Of Ancient Civilization
Civilization, derived from the latin word civis meaning citizen , or simply someone who lives in
a city. However, what is the difference between a group of people who live in a town and our
modern concept of civilization. To find the answer to that question we can turn to the civilizations
of ancient times. The beginning of civilization as we know it began in the Neolithic era. This era
began with a very distinct change to the way of life, from the old way of migrating constantly to
wherever the food roams to settling down in one area and growing food to sustain oneself. Yet, the
first civilizations were more than just people who stayed in the same place, grew their own food,
and relied on water and shelter. They had something that made them standout from the people
around them. Each ancient civilization had different values and cultures that led to the diverse
institutions founded by these ancient civilizations. The first ancient civilization of the Neolithic era
is that of Mesopotamia. Mesopotamia comes from the greek words meso , in between, and potami
meaning river. This refers to the location of the region of Mesopotamia which lies between the
Tigress and Euphrates Rivers. The first urban society of Mesopotamia is Sumer. One value of
Sumer and of Mesopotamia is the love of religion and the beliefs in their gods. Religion plays a

Effects Of Parental Addiction On Children
THE EFFECTS PARENTAL ADDICTIONS HAVE ON CHILDREN
Alexis Holcomb
The cost of alcohol and substance abuse in the United States reaches heights of four hundred
eighty four billion dollars per year ( Magnitude ). That s about seven hundred eighty times the
amount it cost to diagnose and treat sexually transmitted diseases in the year 2000 (Chesson).
The sole purpose of this is not to persuade you one way or the other on this topic. Nor is the
purpose to apologize for this social issue. The purpose of this writing is to employ data showing
the societal effects parental addictions have on children, to show how this data has remained
relevant in society, and to show how it is affecting our future members of society.
In this paper, I look at forms of substance abuse and the effects on children. I will be using the
following headings to break down the different issues associated with this social problem: social
causes, phenomenon, and consequences. I hope to educate those that may be ignorant to the
situation, and help to spark a flame that can be used to not be a bystander, but a solution to the
problem at hand.
Social Causes
An estimated twenty five percent of youth under eighteen are exposed to familial alcohol abuse
(Bellum). The Illinois Department of Human Services says that nearly six hundred seventy five
thousand children per year suffer serious abuse or neglect as a direct result of substance abuse (

Shelley in his poem Ode to the West Wind has used similes in his poem. He states that, the leaves
dead are driven like ghosts from an enchanter fleeing. He also states that, the winged seeds where

metaphors when writing poems. Metaphors refer to the use of certain words to mean otherwise in
the context of the poem. However, metaphors are sometimes hidden in the poem such that they
require the reader to figure out their existence in the poem. This will be easy when the poet
employs the physical environment that is well understood by the reader. In addition, metaphors
will strengthen the ideas that the poet wants to pass across. Metaphors will therefore make it
easier for the readers to interpret and understand the meaning that the poet intended to
communicate. Shelley has used a metaphor in his poem where he states ...Pestilence stricken
multitudes . He states this to indicate to the reader that he is not just addressing a pile of leaves.
Therefore, this helps to understand the deeper meaning of the poem. He also states about the
wintry bed , which is meant to show his mood in the poem. Poets also use the landscape in writing
poems because of the inspiration that they get from such places. This could be based on some
memory or the history of the place and

Reaction Paper On Lupus
Systemic lupus erythematosus (more commonly known as lupus) is an autoimmune disease that
affects more women than men, usually between ages 15 to 45. The cause is often unknown,
although in some individuals, the condition may be drug induced. The symptoms may differ from
patient to patient, but commonly include a butterfly rash on the face, ulcerations on the mouth,
nose, and vagina, loss of hair, thick scarring, changes in skin pigmentation, hives, welts, and color
changes in the fingertips as a response to changes in temperature and stress (Raynaud s
phenomena). As the disease progresses, it begins to involve other systems of the body such as the
kidneys, heart, lungs and joints. Symptoms include severe fatigue, fever, dyspnea, swollen glands,...

However, it is best to let your doctor know about symptoms you think are coming from your
drugs. Lupus is often associated with weight gain due to inactivity and medications, so it is
important to eat wisely to achieve a healthy weight. On the other hand, some people experience
poor appetite and weight loss, which can result from the illness or from medications. Consult
your doctor, nurse or registered dietitian who can help evaluate your diet and suggest a suitable
program to help you manage your weight. People who are battling lupus have higher risk of
complications such as heart disease, so it is important to consume a heart healthy as part of
your treatment plan. Your doctor may find you have certain risk factors for heart disease such as
high cholesterol or high blood pressure. You may be advised to take a low fat diet and do exercises
regularly. Your doctor may also recommend a low sodium diet to reduce high blood pressure.
Studies show that omega 3 fatty acids from fish oils or fish may improve risk factors for heart
disease such as high blood pressure and high triglycerides. Foods that are rich in omega 3 fatty
acids include: sardines

The Role Of Robots In The Military
During the last few decades, technology has advanced. The modern technology has the capacity to
build robots that are now being used in the military. This website discusses the diverse uses and
advantages robots have in the military force, especially in combat. Everyday soldiers go on
suicidal missions in different parts of the world. These robotshave a sense of comfort to these
soldiers to prevent an injury and even death. Certain uses of these robots include performing
dangerous tasks humans cannot be exposed to, using different type of weapons that are 100 percent
effective, and having robots that include cameras to detect enemy troops. Along with these
maneuvers, many advantages for the militaryoccur, such as programming the robotto perform a task
they asked for, completing missions without humans actually been there, and destroying enemies
without hurting soldiers. All of the purposes that robots serve within the military frontier contribute
to the big picture of how the functions of robots help us as a society. Everyday, society observes
that humans now depend on technology in one way or another. This allows the use of robots to be
implemented in the medical field, allowing them to perform surgeries, in the military by letting
robots complete missions without the presence of humans, and to increase the production and profit
in big industries. In this article, their main concern is to prevent humans from drying on the suicidal
missions they go to. According to

Male Gaze Theory Depicted in American Pie
THE MALE GAZE THEORY AS PORTRAYED IN AMERICAN PIE
I. Introduction The position of women in the society at present has changed gradually in the last
few centuries. The role of women, as dictated by the society, is perceived by how they re
presented. Since the last three centuries, women have always been viewed as just housewives
and objects of perversion. Media is one of the factors why women are perceived as secondary to
men. This is why media has a major influence to the humanity because it can reach almost all the
parts of the world. May it be in print media or in film productions; women are always depicted as
inferior and submissive to men s desires. There have been different movements aimed in ... Show

This is what she developed from the theory proposed by Muvley. Studlar suggested that audience
is only overwhelmed by the cinematic representation and becomes incapable. There are two
different levels of the demonstration of the women in the society wherein they are called as the
Passive and the male as the Active . 1. A womanis an erotic object for both the characters within
the film. For example, Stiffler, a character in the American Pie movie, depicts a lady that passed
by as a visual pleasure to him. But, what if the lady looks like a big, fat loser? By that, men has
the social power to dictate whether a girl can be subscribed as beautiful or not; as a sex object or
not. 2. The spectator who is watching the film finds the woman as an erotic object. In accordance
to what is cited above, the dominance of male directors in the Hollywood scene also gives the
power of judgment to its audience, the male population. Of course, when the male characters feel
that the woman being perceived is perfect for being a visual pleasure, it tends to drive the audience
in the same manner, too. These two different perspectives show that a woman(Passive), as depicted
in the Hollywood films, are just inferior to the social control held by men(Active).
II. Logical Argument (Analysis)
Women, even at the present, are still being depicted as weak and are always perceived as to submit
themselves to the

A Realistic Perspective On Forensic Science
A Realistic Perspective on Forensic Science Forensic science is typically viewed as a drama filled,
intense storyline. These misleading story lines include insufficient data, false heroism, unrealistic
timing, and perfect conflicts. It s common for others to assume that forensics mostly consists of
criminology and toxicology. In a more realistic view, forensic sciencehas many branches for
determining different subjects, requires lots of training to produce precise conclusions, and have
the ability to prove relevance, with details. Criminology or toxicology does not make up forensic
science. There are several branches that one can go into based on their career. Some examples are
entomology, the study of bugs, anthropology, the

British Airways ( Ba ) Debacle Occurred
The British Airways (BA) Debacle occurred because the management team planned and
implemented a swipe card system which would allow management to use staff more efficiently
and to record employees start and end time for each work day. However, the staff was not
involved in the decision which led to a strike (Palmer, Dunford, Akin, 2009). Wildcat strike key
issues
Organizational Development The purpose of the change process was to provide the efficient use of
staff and resources. British Airways Senior management s approach to change was planning and
having the operational level implement policies that affected the employees without employee
input. Using the organizational development approach a key issue was employee involvement, the
more involved in the change process members of the organization are the more likely they will be
to accepting the change. The lack of employee involvement caused the employees to rebel and
strike.
Sense making
Sense making approach shows how change is interpreted and received by those involved in the
change. British Airways Senior management and employees interpreted and received the change
differently. Using the sense making approach the key issue was opposing interpretation and
reception. Management viewed the change as a positive way of improving efficiency and were not
aware of any other interpretations of the change. The change was interpreted as negative by the
staff, because the staff felt the new systems was a

Comparing The Desktop And Other Computer Systems Comparing the Desktop with other computer systems Advantages Top of the range desktops have more power than laptops, micro computers, mobile devices and all in One PCs. To start off, desktops can contain much more hardware than a mobile device or microcomputer and AIO PCs, the outcome of being able to store so many components is the result of fitting high quality parts that are more power immense in the computing industry so desktops beat small devices on meeting possibilities. The desktop has the extra benefit of being extremely customisable to adapt to the user and environmental challenges Extending from previous points, the desktop can surpass other systems in terms of using components that can be located swiftly whilst being changeable in order for a client to upgrade, this is ideal in the industry for those that want to commission their system for a preferable experience. Disadvantages Highly bulky compared with the other mobile, all in one and micro systems On the other hand, due to the occupation of desktops for retention of more dynamic components that are heavy, the weight builds up to create a computer device that is forced to be in one space involuntary for usage on the go in comparison to mobile devices. • 4. Essay about Cannibalism Cannibalism is the consumption of human flesh by other human beings. The concept of people eating other people is highly debatable, but it has been proven to occur throughout history. The word cannibalism comes from the Carib Indians of the West Indies, which were called Caribales quot; or Canibales (Spier 543). The Spanish word canibales translates to thirsty and cruel in English. Another known term for cannibalismis the Latin form anthropophagy (Bell). Anthropophagy derives from the Greek words anthropos meaning man and phagein meaning eat. The term anthropophagy was used in ancient times, which suggests that people from ancient times consumed other humanbeings (Spier 543). The first documented encounter of cannibalism ... Forty six survivors were eventually rescued, but they received excessive judgement for their actions. They were tried for their crimes of cannibalism, and they all served six months in prison before they could return to their communities (Bell). Another case of survival cannibalism took place in 1972 when a group of South American rugby players were stranded in the Andes Mountains. Forty five people left on an airplane for their destination of Chile, and only sixteen would make it alive. Their plane crashed into the Andes Mountains, killing thirteen people from the crash itself. The crash also injured many others who would eventually die over the weeks from their injuries. The mountains offered no supplies or food for support. With no food, many of the crash survivors resorted to eating the deceased. Those survivors who refused to eat their fellow people died of starvation. This group of people spent seventy days in the mountains before the sixteen survivors were rescued and brought home (Bell). The story of these South American athletes would be the plot for the movie Alive (1993) which was based on a true story (Goldman). Another form of cannibalism that has taken place is spiritual and ritual cannibalism. There are many forms of it worldwide. The first is exocannibalism which is when a group or ... • 5. The Importance Of Art And The Judgement Of Hunefer Art by its nature is a subject of the philosophical, social, economic, political or religious context surrounding its creator. More often than not, a work of art addresses a specific topic or somewhat revolves around a particular person. Therefore, it is impossible to separate the context of a piece of painting, either historical or cultural, to its intrinsic value or the artwork s meaning. On the other hand, different cultures and time utilized specific conventions that govern the representation of objects of creativity. This essay highlights various pieces of art and their relationship to particular cultural, political, economic, or social settings. Moreover, it pinpoints how different times influence art presentation. One of the pieces of art that shows the relationship between context and art is the Judgement of Hunefer as illustrated in the Book of The Dead (Kleiner, 2016). The Judgement of Hunefer is a painting on a papyrus scroll showing the journey of Hunefer, a royal scribe, and steward of Seti, from his death to the afterlife. The image illustrates several items including spells and prayers needed to secure a happy immortality (Kleiner, 2016). Moreover, the picture shows several steps in transition into the afterlife including Anubis, the jackal headed god of embalmment leading Hunefer into the hall of judgment, Anubis weighing Hunefer s heart against a feather, and finally Hunefer meeting Horus to receive an award of the eternal life (Kleiner, 2016). • 6. Comparison Of The Maltese Falcon And Citizen Kane Two of the first film noir pieces, The Maltese Falcon and Citizen Kane, share many similarities in structure and style. Their biggest similarities are the plant and payoff technique, and meaningless quests the main characters embark upon. In The Maltese Falcon, a detective, Sam Spade, is tasked with finding a golden falcon by Brigid O Shaunessy. He is not told of the falcon until Brigid s former partner, Joel Cairo, offers to pay Spade for the falcon. Consequently, Spade discovers Brigid is lying to him about her identity, having originally given an alternate name. All the while, Spade doesn t know the falcon s location until a ship captain comes into Spade s office and dies, holding the falcon. This leads to Spade bargaining for the falcon, after which, the falcon is finally unwrapped, and discovered to be fake. The film concludes with Cairo setting off to try and track down the real falcon, and Spade left alone without the money he was promised for it. However, in Citizen Kane, the film starts off with Charles Kane dying on the floor of his mansion, saying rosebud. Then the film cuts to a newsreel about Kane s life, which is dismissed as too impersonal. Subsequently, a reporter, Thompson, is sent to discover rosebud . Throughout the movie, Kane s acquaintances tell Thompson about his life, few mentioning rosebud. Finally, the movie ends in Kane s mansion, reporters cataloguing all of Kane s possessions. I received clearance to observe Robert by both his mother and father. He seems to be growing fairly well in reference to his height and weight compared to other children his age. Throughout much of the afternoon, I observed calm behavior and much later, I observed a more boisterous behavior. At the beginning of the observationhe walked into the social setting being almost oblivious to the people around him, not wanting to formally greet members of the family until his father asked him to do so. After this, Robert sat at a table alone until children approached him and then he became a little less shy in demeanor. The next transition in this observation began at the time children started to come, Robert nervously asks a group of children if he can play with them and the group accepts. Much of the observation between Robert, the group of children, and playtime consisted of playing with a basketball in which there is no clear objectives or rules , playing shooting or bad guy, good guy games, and just aimlessly, randomly running throughout the yard and home. The arrival of the smartphones had radically changed every aspect of teenagers lives, from the nature of their social interactions to their mental health (Twenge 60). Smartphones are easy to carry mobile devices that almost have the functions of a computer like internet access, video games, social networks, and of course calls and text messages. In 2014 in the USA almost 60% of the population owned a smartphone (Cheever, et al. 291). Part 2: Equality of Resources, he differentiates the brute luck and option luck, and this distinction is influential in the later development of luck egalitarianism. In this paper, I will examine Dworkin s distinction between option luck and brute luck, also I will bring up Vallentyne s argument which is against Dworkin s distinction. Based on Dworkin s view of distributive equality, people should be compensated materially if they suffer in the outcome of bad brute luck because having bad brute luck is out of their control, and it is not related to their previous decision. In contrast, people should not be compensated, if they suffer in the outcome of bad option luck since having bad option luck is related to their pervious decision, and people are responsible for their decision makings (whether the outcome is good or not), so the people should not be compensated. Moreover, Dworkin illustrates that brute luck and option luck could be connected by insurance; he claims that buying an insurance to prevent the unexpected bad brute luck is a considered decision, so it would be classified in option luck. It will be a good option luck if people suffer in the outcome of bad brute luck because it makes people better off during the suffering period. Also, Dworkin clarifies that the insurance does not take away the distinction between brute luck and option luck (293). I will explain this claim using the student example; if the student has purchased an insurance for traffic accidents, he still suffers in the bad brute luck if he gets crashed by a car since the scenario would be better if he purchased the insurance and does not need to make the insurance claim. The Conflict Between Greece And Persia Once the conflict between Greece and Persia had ceased in 479 BCE, Athens found themselves following a new leader, an Athenian statesman, Pericles, who had a fervent interest in advancing Athens. Under Pericles leadership, Athens experienced a period of time in the 5th century where they were regarded as the cultural, intellectual and commercial heart of the Hellenic world. Their hegemony and superiority contributed to the creation of a Golden Age, a valid title, which is currently embraced by historians. During this period of time, Athensflourished with culture, art and literature, had an impact in the scientific and medical world, and had a substantial amount of influence and control over the rest of Greece. Pericles was often referred to as the Patron of the Arts due to his immense dedication and passion towards it. His passion led to Athens experiencing their peak of culture with a burst of art and literature surfacing. Pericles directed projects to advance Athens culturally, such as lowering admission prices for plays to allow the lower class entry (History.com Staff, 2009) and was responsible for the world s most recognised Acropolis, which is a citadel or complex that has been built on a high hill. The Theory Of Evolution Of Human History And Modern Thinking Since the dawn of time, the theory of evolution has played an important role in the process of understanding human history and modern thinking. However, this theory didn t always have an explicit term to clarify its meaning. Philosophers embraced the ideals of knowledge and enlightenment of reason searching for answers as to better understand the origins of mankind and how it attributes to what it means to be human. Alongside social progress and intellectual development, fascinating new discoveries were made through observation and experimentation, and as a result, the revolutionary realm of science emerged to become a timeless, universally systematic phenomenon of practiced knowledge. Thus, it was during the beginning of this scientific era, when individuals like Jean Baptiste Lamarck and Charles Darwinincorporated the theory of evolutionas an understanding of progressive change and development of different species over time. And so, this fresh, scientific phenomenon allowed great thinkers examine how the notion of evolution has an influence on society from a philosophical standpoint. Although they express differing perspectives on the subject, Gilman, Veblen, and Freud ultimately illuminate how evolution is denoted by the development of instincts and affected by how they are either suppressed or acted upon to attain happiness. It merely consoles the people, whereas the Old Man by revealing our cruelty shows them their true nature (Tornaritis). Marquez was indirectly trying to show the reader how we behave at times, and is trying to raise questions in their minds. Ambiguity is also another main theme in the story. In The Tempest, Prospero knows what power he holds through the use of his books and spells, and ultimately uses these powers to restore order to the island. The drunken butler Stephano is countered in the film with the Tennessee bourbon sloshing space cook. The character of Caliban resonates in the film by use of the Id monster, and finally Ariel is engrossed through the character of Robby the Robot. A closer reading of some of the characters in FP will reveal parallels outlined by Campos. Campos shines light on the fact that [Prospero and Morbius] are figures that, isolated from the rest of mankind, have devoted their lives to the study of some books which have granted them an extraordinary, almost supernatural power (Campos, 285). The main connections between the two are their utilization of science and magic. As pointed out by Campos, the film gives a clear implication that science becomes the magic of the future (286). This statement seems to be truthful as in Shakespeare s time magic would be thought to be no different from the scientific breakthroughs of our time. For example a Shakespearean audience would marvel at the strides science has taken in the modern day, such as the utilization of electricity. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

I believe she also picked this title because jazz also means honest, benevolent, brilliant, and full of high inspirations and that is what some of the characters showed in the story. The meaning jazz can also tie into the story because some of them showed a control over others affairs. However the earliest evidence of Bd was found in Africa in the 1930s on skin samples from African clawed frogs (Xenopus laevis) (Rosenblum et al., 2010, p.1). It spread from there via the large exportation of these frogs in the light of the discovery of pregnancy assays (Weldon et al., 2004, p. 2102). The pregnancy assay devised from these frogs is based on the fact that when urine from pregnant woman is injected under the frog s skin, the urine contains sufficient hormones to make the frog ovulate, thus producing a positive result of pregnancy for that woman (Marris, 2009). ... In the very words of the document, Americans agreed to the ideas that all men were created equal with unalienable rights; among these were Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness. The young country, even though there were different opinions and ideas had compromised for the betterment of all Americans. Compromise; the definition is the agreement or settlement of a dispute that is reached by each side making concessions. The country had extensive opportunities to compromise on laws, territories, societies, and industrializations. By 1860, the sense of compromise started to disappear, and America stood on the verge of monumental discord. The Compromise of 1820 brought both sides of the slavery debate to an agreement. In 1819, Missouri proposed to join the Union as a slave state. The Fundamental Law Of Nature And Government In this essay I will be arguing that the prerogative is a right that is needed by the executive branch in order to fulfill the fundamental law of nature and government: the preservation of all of its members. So long as the fiduciary grant is meant to achieve this goal it has the right to be exercised at the discretion of its user. This argument will discuss the nature of the prerogative, its necessity, and its justification for use. This will be supported with evidence from Locke s Second Treatise of Government. The prerogative is not an abusive instrument that is meant to subverts the laws society; it is a tool meant to adhere with utmost urgency to the fundamental law of society: doing what is best for the people and their property. It is meant to ensure that not even its own laws can do harm to the citizens it so righteously protects. The enshrinement of this ideal is founded on the social contractall members of civil society enter into when they become a part of society. This contract is created from something as well; the law that governed man in its original state of nature, reason. Locke asserts that man was born into the world in a perfect state of freedom to order his own actions. He is capable of reciprocal jurisdiction without consent from any outside influence. However, what is the difference between a group of people who live in a town and our modern concept of civilization. This era began with a very distinct change to the way of life, from the old way of migrating constantly to wherever the food roams to settling down in one area and growing food to sustain oneself. Yet, the first civilizations were more than just people who stayed in the same place, grew their own food, and relied on water and shelter.
