The population growth rate for a given level of consumption characterized by difference between
the birth rate and the death rate. Let us define gross population function G(c), which is equal to (b
d)+1. Than
Nt+1=NtG(ct) (1.1)
This is the formula of the Malthusian population model. Graphically we will have:

Figure 2: Gross Population Growth Rate Function (Crafts, N, 2008)
In the model, population at the next time period is determined by the population at the previous
time period, so we can said that this is a difference equation model. In this case, we can use the
model to determine population sizes at any point in the future by applying the equation repeatedly
until we reach the desired point in time.
2.1 Production Function At the time when Malthus wrote his essay, the second factor of production
except land was labor. In the model, he assumes that all individuals own an equal share of the land
and the total amount of the land limited by L. Productivity of each particular person is also fixed.
Then production function can be defined

The direct material usage variance is unfavourable for leather jackets meaning NLJ did not use
the raw materials as efficiently as it could have. This was because skilled leather workers were
scarce and NLJ had to hire and train inexperienced workers which resulted in more wastage of raw
materials.
The direct labour rate variance is favourable for leather jackets meaning NLJ provided a lower
average rate to workers than budgeted. This was because NLJ hired and trained inexperienced
workers to meet the increase in demand for leather jackets, who were offered a lower wage than
experienced workers.
The direct labour usage variance is unfavourable for leather jackets indicating NLJ s leather
workers did not work as efficiently as budgeted. This was because the inexperienced workers hired
could not work as efficiently as the experienced workers accounted for in the budget.
The variance overhead variance is unfavourable for leather jackets indicating NLJ spent more on
variable overhead to produce leather jackets than budgeted. This was because new specialized
sewing machines had to be purchased to meet the increased production demand of leather jackets.
The direct materials, direct labour, and variable overhead variances were zero for nylon jackets
indicating nylon jackets cost the budgeted amount to produce.
The variable selling and admin costs variance was unfavourable for leather jackets meaning

American History Dbq
3) According to President Reagan (Document 6), what does having a positive view of American
history mean and what values does the country stand for? What should modern Americans think of
their country s past in regard to race relations according Senator Obama (Document 7)? Do you
agree with these documents arguments about America s past? Why or why not?
Ronald Reagan has the belief that America is a superior nation. He believes that it is the center of
morality and that it has the role of ensuring that its best ideals are spread to the rest of the world.
He believed that people and especially the Americans are moral enough such that they were not in a

It is quite clear that the struggles that were aimed at fighting the inequalities are the same ones that
have guided the manner by which the Americans relate with each other and with the rest of the
world. They try to prove that they are conscious about issues that deal with racism and inequality.
In the contemporary society, it is common to hear that the Americans stand up against any person
or institution that is trying to indicate or advocate for any kind of iniquity. They rose up against the
policies that were being advocated for by the current president while on a campaign trail. They even
went ages and demonstrated after his elections just to prove to him that they are in total
disagreement with the policies that he is trying to advance. With such firm foundation, there is no
doubt that America as a country should come up and act as the guardian and custodian of justice to
the whole world.
It needs to oversee and dictate the manner by which injustices and issues that pertain to injustice are
addressed. By being the overall supervisor, it will have the mandate on assisting different citizens
and governments when it comes to coming up with policies that end segregation and

Mount Etna is no boring regular volcano. It has been continually active since the Greek times. It is
located in Sicily, Italy. To the locals in Sicily it is called Mongibello meaning the beautiful
mountain. Mount Etna has been involved in the Greek myths. Mount Etna is an amazing and
unique volcano. Mount Etna is almost twice the size of Mount Vesuvius, the volcano that destroyed
Pompeii. Etna has four very prominent craters. There is the Bocca Nova and the Voragine, the
central craters, and there is also the Northeast crater and the Southeast crater. Mount Etna once

A Synopsis Of Othello
Synopsis
William Shakespeare s book, Othello, is a tragedy written in the year 1603, based on the story, A
Moorish Capital. It revolves around four main characters, Othello, his wife Desdemona, Cassio
who is a Lieutenant and Othello s most trusted, and Iago, who is Othello s ensign, Most of the
action in the play takes place on the island of Cyprus. The themes covered include love, racism,
revenge, betrayal, jealousy and envy, and repentance. The book Othello is a tragedy since it attains
the standards put by Aristotle when defining the word tragedy. The writer uses drama to talk
about the fall of an individual who was once in a higher place. This fall could either be due to
internal or external forces. It is a tragedy that explains what happens ... Show more content on

The demand of 3D films has continually increased over the past decade. The revenues of these
3D films have always been on a rise, which is an indication that more people are watching
movies in theatres. Reimagining Shakespeare s Othello as a 3D movie can also help to reboot
the story, especially among young people. The director of the movie can add or change some
aspects of the story that may not be appealing to the audience, and introduce new scenes to take
advantage of the 3D technology, and also to make the movie more interesting. 3D is best
enjoyed with scenes involving a lot of action, the director can therefore capitalize on the violence
that exists in the story, which is caused by jealousy and need for revenge. For instance, to add
some aspects of action in the movie, the director can introduce fights and other types of violence,
to make it thrilling and interesting at the same time. Individuals who already know the story and
the characters would also be curious to see Othello as a 3D movie. As Shakespeare s stories are
famous and widely known, the production of the movie would create some buzz, attracting new
audience at the same

The Importance Of Building A Monument
Although building a statue or memorial seems simple you think of something you want to build or
memorialize, you choose a location, you design it, and then of course, you build it. However, the
actual process proves to be more controversial and painstaking. The difficulties when it comes to
building a statue or monument should arise prior to building the actual monument. The most
critical stages of development are throughout the design and planning process. This is due to the
many factors that have to go into consideration when designing a monument the overall purpose of
the monument, the design of the monument, and choosing the right location and position of the
monument all while considering ways to strengthen the aura and draw in more visitors. The main
purpose of a monument is by far the factor that should receive the utmost consideration and
development. This is because the other stages of development and design revolve around the
purpose of the monument. Before you can decide what a monument will look like, you must know
what you want to accomplish with the monument along with the feelings you wish to inspire in
visitors. For example, if you wanted to portray a soldier s courage and strength through a statue,
you may not want to build a 5 foot tall, flimsy aluminum statue of a smiling soldier with open arms,
ready to embrace a hug. The significance of a monumental purpose was highlighted in Christine
Musser s Preserving Memory: National Holocaust Memorial Museum

The World Trade Center Tragedy
After the Deregulation Act of 1978 in the United States, the airline industry was forced to adapt to
the rapidly changing environment (Goetz Vowles, 2009). At the time, the nominally regulated air
transporting environment permitted the airlines to begin services on any desired route, giving them
a great deal of liberty in the market. Although things were going well for those involved in the
aviation industry, several factors began to have a negative impact on the industry. For instance, as
the competition started to escalate, airlines began to take a competitive stance against one another,
fighting for their share of the market. Moreover, the World Trade Center tragedy in 2001 had an
adverse impact on the entire airlineindustry (Coy, 2005). Adding to the predicament, the recent
financial crisis of 2008 and the current inflation in fuel prices have caused the US airline industry to
regroup the fleet formation, making it the most competitive airline industry in the world (Ryerson
Kim, 2014). The whole airline industry now found itself struggling to survive.
In order to provide the best quality of the air transport services while competing against other
airlines in the US and other countries, the airlines had to develop a variety of strategies. The fleet
planning is a significant part of airlines survival strategies designed to optimize the flight operation
that maximizes the revenue. Therefore, when an airline fleet is informed by an optimized fleet

Coming of Age in Mississippi by Anne Moody Essay examples
Coming of Age in Mississippi by Anne Moody
The autobiography Coming of Age in Mississippi by Anne Moody is the story of her life as a poor
black girl growing into adulthood. Moody chose to start at the beginning when she was four years
old, the child of poor sharecroppers working for a white farmer. She overcomes obstacles such as
discrimination and hunger as she struggles to survive childhood in one of the most racially
discriminated states in America. In telling the story of her life, Moody shows why the civil rights
movement was such a necessity and the depth of the injustices it had to correct. Moody s
autobiography depicts the battle all southern African Americans faced. She had a personal mission

Moody contemplated to herself. Moody could not really respond to the situation as such a young

saw.
Soon after Moody entered high school, Emmett Till, a fourteen year old boy from Chicago, was
killed for whistling at a white woman. After hearing about the murder, Moody realized she
really did not know much about what was going on around her. ?Before Emmett Till?s murder, I
had known the fear of hunger hell and the Devil but now there was a new fear known to me ? the
fear of being killed just because I was black.? Moody?s response to this was asking her high school
teacher, Mrs. Rice, about Emmett?s murder and the NAACP.
Moody was a very eager learner and constantly exceeded her classmates. She was an excellent
student and though she far surpassed the performance of her white cousin, she was not
considered to be equal, let alone superior. She did not let this affect her in any way. One word to
describe Moody would be fighter, a fighter in what she believed to be fair and fighting to stand up
for these beliefs. She always wanted to understand her surroundings and became very interested in
the NAACP. Moody gets drawn into the fight for civil

Legal Law Of Non Professional Services Essay
The only segment of the opinion, written by Justice McClanahan that I would have preferred to
see more written about was where she wrote that the VPPA clearly established that sealed
competitive bidding was the sole method of procurement that had to be used, by SBC, for this
contract. I believe that Justice McClanahan was not looking at all procurements of non
professional services but only at the solicitation issued by SBSC. Therefore, I believe what Justice
McClanahan should have written was that competitive sealed bidding was the sole option for
SBSC based on their actions. If Justice McClanahan meant to say that it was the only option for any
procurementof non professional services, then I believe she was incorrect. Both Thomas Folk and
William Mauck Jr. published legal articles that analyzed this case. They both wrote that
competitive negotiations was an option for the procurement of non professional services at the
time that SBSC issued their solicitation. В§ 2.2 4300 section C stated that upon a determination
made in advance by the public body and set forth in writing that competitive sealed bidding is
either not practicable or not fiscally advantageous to the public, goods, services, or insurance may
be procured by competitive negotiations. The writing shall document the basis for this
determination. (VPPA, 2006) Based on the VPPA, had SBSC made that written determination, they
could have then issued a Request for Proposal (RFP) instead of their Best Value

Alan Moore And Dave Gibbons
Alan Moore and Dave Gibbons Watchmen illustrates the lives of retired superheroes in the 1980s.
The Keene Act outlawed the masquerading of superheroes in the 1970s and led to the dissolution
of many superheroes. The murder of an old colleague, The Comedian, forces them to come out of
retirement and sets the events of the graphic novelinto place. Moore and Gibbons sets up a world of
superheroes in the midst of a very real historical period of the Cold War. We usually think of
superheroes as existing in a fictional place, with an altered history. However, the novel references
President Nixon, the Cold War, Vietnam, and other real events and figures. These references help to
establish the superheroes as people existing in reality. Here,... Show more content on

Richard Nixon is running for another term. Superheroes have influenced how the time period
will turn out because of they are the ones who change the events in history, both for and against
us. The presence of Dr. Manhattan makes it easier for the United States government to
accomplish their military goals, for example. In real life, a weapon that the United States or any
country, for that matter, this powerful would have been used to death. It would have meant the
end of our problems as well as the solution to any future problems or discussions. The inclusion
of superheroes means we must discuss the option of having too much power and having an
extraterrestrial presence among the human species. The presence of the superheroes and their
eventual retirement/exile arise from this feeling of otherness . Dr. Manhattan is feared for his
appearance and his powers, and eventually drives him to exile. Rorschach incites fear into those
who know of him and his history. Superheroes change the dynamic of the society. The novel is
also based on the current events going on, plus alterations according to the necessary actions taken
by the superheroes. The setting allowed the novel to hold a dark mirror to its time (Rehak 156).
When director Zack Snyder decided to adapt the novel into film, he chose to update the setting to
the post 9/11 world. It was an attempt to bring the ending more

The Marvel Of The Movie Watchmen
Subsequently, while most superhero plots involve an element of fantasy, the characters in Moore
s graphic novel are, for the most part, embedded into pessimistic version of reality with only
lifelike traits. Obviously, the one glaring exception in Watchmen is Doctor Manhattan, who is
transformed into a being capable of a number of otherworldly abilities. However, the other five
heroes in the story are regular humans who take the initiative to aid in the protection of society.
This is unlike most superheroes in previous comics, who are often blessed with a divine power
that allows them to conquer all evil. Additionally, referring to the society in which Moore s heroes
are immersed in, it is situated in a location known to its readers, with a certain twist. While
Superman has his Metropolis and Batman has his Gotham City, the six costumed adventurers are
based in New York City, or more accurately, a filthy parody of it. The universe in which Moore sets
his story is the closest to reality, with a hyperbolic emphasis on the evil in society, in which
superheroes have been set it. Hence, the problems presented to the superheroes are not something to
be combatted with fantastical talents, but more nuanced with realistic obstacles without a clear
solution. In Watchmen, the imminent threat of nuclear war is a state of affairs that would have
been realistic for readers, particularly during the time period of the graphic novel s release in 1987.
This, coupled with the urban violence

The Pros And Cons Of Public Services
Under the NPM umbrella, public sector has also been experiencing a shift to greater competition.
The need to remove monopoly of service delivery and create contestability, through privatization,
public tendering, and term contracts, justifies the adoption of competition principle (Dunleavy
1994; Hood 1991). Insisting to do bureaucratic provision on public servicesinstead of contracting
them out, knowing that private sectorcan deliver them better, it is believed would only force
governments to lose comparative advantages on price, efficiency, and effectiveness (Dunleavy
1994. p.49). This way, governments are able to fulfil their responsibility in providing services and
the financing, while simultaneously stimulate greater competition among providers under market
dynamics. However, it is hard to instigate public service ethos in private parties. Therefore, the
capacity of private entities to act consistently with the public interest is greatly questioned in this
scenario. Are concerns such as public health and safety, environment sustainability, and social
equity likely to be sacrificed underneath market mechanisms? When power is shared with
organizations which have business objectives apart from governments goals, the fundamental issue
is how to detect which missions they are carrying out. Many public services being delivered by
third parties are targeted for vulnerable sections of the community which can pose a higher risk of
potential abuse, neglect, exploitation, and

The Differences And Similarities Between Cats And Dogs
There are several similarities between cats and dogs, but at the same time, there are a lot of
differences between them. These two animals are the most popular pets today. Some people
would rather have the company of a cat, and some would rather have the company of a dog.
Some similarities between dogs and cats are that they are apart of the mammal kingdom. They
give birth to their young. They both can give birth to multiple offsprings at one time, and they
both also drink milk from their mothers when they are babies. Dogs and cats are also kept as pets,
and they need love and affection from their owners. When you pet your dog or catit can relieve
stress that you have and your pets. Both cats and dogs display natural territorial instincts. They both
mark and defend their own territory. Cats will avoid other cats territory unless they have to pass
through. When a dog comes into another dog s territory, that dog will show dominates and shoo the
other dog away. According to Pets4Homes, they say we often think that humans tamed cats and
dogs and turned them into the pets that we own today, in reality, it was the cats and dogs
themselves that initiated their first interactions with humans, moving closer and closer to human
settlements several millennia ago. Cats and dogs would benefit from close proximity to human
habitation in order to scavenge and find food and stay warm, while humans got the advantage of
having dogs to scare off potential threats and help them to

Comedic Relief in the Bleek Novel, Hard Times by Charles...
In every bleak novel there is one character who is always there for comedic relief; in Hard Times,
that character is Mrs. Sparsit. Mrs. Sparsit is the housekeeper for Mr. Bounderby. Essentially
she does all the work that a wife would do except she has a lower status than a wife, but higher
than a servant. Here in lies the problem that she cannot deal with. Mrs. Sparsit came from a well
to do family, but slipped in the social rankings. To regain her pride, she attempts to sabotage Mr.
Bounderby s marriage, but in doing so only makes her a fool. In this passage, a robbery has just
occurred and the townspeople are trying to figure out who the perpetrator is. As of right now,
they believe it is Stephen Blackpool. Shaken by the events, Mrs. Sparsit stays at Mr. Bounderby s
house. The purpose of this passage is to show that it is not Mr. Bounderby who is the fool, but
rather Mrs. Sparsit, who does not seem to understand that her actions against Bounderby do not
have an impact on him at all. What does Mr. Bounderby care about? Certainly not Mrs. Sparsit.
Mr. Bounderby is an egotistical man who only cares about his social status and money. He married
Louisa with the goal in mind to make her his trophy wife and to have connections with Mr.
Gradgrind it has nothing to do with his emotional connection with Louisa. Thus, Mrs. Sparsit s
determination to pity Mr. Bounderby is completely futile. Mrs. Sparsit continues to attempt to

Music Therapy Research Summary
Music Therapy Approaches for Treatment of Agitation and Anxiety in Patients with Dementia
Music Therapy Methods The studies reviewed, implemented various music therapy interventions to
older adult dementia patients to examine the effects associated with agitation and anxiety
behaviors. Music therapy methods used throughout the twelve studies include live presentations,
pre recorded listening activities and instrumental utilization exercises. Two studies utilized a mixed

Machiavelli Essay On The Prince
The time of the Renaissance is filled with growth of intellect, beauty of nature, the dignity of
mankind, and the rising of artists. It is characterized from the move of scholasticism, a devotion
specifically for the theological and philosophical teachings of the Church, to humanism, a devotion
to the humanities of rhetoric, arithmetic, and other subjects. An example of this movement is seen
in Machiavelli s The Princewhich describes Niccolo Machiavelli s ideal ruler and how to obtain

Auden Vs Ginsberg
Literature has a lengthy history of odds and ends that get categorized by critics as unworthy of
widespread study, yet some are the most brilliant statements of their time. W. H. Auden s book
length poem The Age of Anxiety won the Pulitzer Prize for Poetry in 1948. It, along with Allen
Ginsberg s poem Howl, are diamonds that are often disregarded by literary critics and the public
as worthless rough. Each piece was a major breakthrough in its time. Auden and Ginsberg both

Its worth is hotly debated. W. B. Yeats and T. S. Eliot were contemporaries of Auden s, and
being a part of that legendary group is close to an automatic deservance of being a canonical

strongly that Auden was the greatest poet of the entire 20th century for what he could do with
words and form. Content in the book length poem speak volumes of the talent that the American
immigrant had. He created something that is hotly debated as both a failure and his greatest
accomplishment, and uncertainty in making that decision make it all the more worthy to be in
the canon. His uncertainty is the only real part of the poem as Auden s character laments that

themes of the human being. Halting speeches and words take the reader inside of the mind as
frailties become clear. What this poem has to say is vastly important once one gets past the errors
in form. Psychological and social problems are concerns that Age of Anxiety covers. Verse should

The Liberal Arts and the End of Education Essay
The Liberal Arts and the End of Education
ABSTRACT: An international conference that takes Philosophy Educating Humanity as its theme
does well to revisit the liberal arts tradition. Although the liberal arts are most often assimilated to
studies brought together as the Humanities, the old usage included the arts which employed
artificial languages in mathematics, music, and astronomy, as well as the literature and letters of
the various natural languages. The current conflation of liberal education with the humanities does
violence to the historical tradition in education, reducing it to fluff in the eyes of tough minded
scientists who know that only numbers deliver objectivity. The liberal arts of the traditional

Some variation of this curriculum prevailed in universities throughout the classical period, the
Middle Ages and the Renaissance. Its early articulations in Plato, Boethius, Nicomachus, Martianus
Capella, Ptolemy and St. Bonaventura and others give way to the advance of modernity.. Jonathan
Swift recorded the first great battle of the new versus the old learning. Matthew Arnold and T. H.
Huxley engaged in a debate about the respective roles of literature and the sciences at the end of the
nineteenth century. that now seems a rearguard action. When Arnold defended letters, he did so by
advocating what was left in the nineteenth century of the liberal tradition. When Huxley put
education in the sciences forward as the appropriate wisdom for his time, he had already absolved
himself and his society of debts to transcendent values. Hopes for a consistent and inclusive schema
of meaning were buried along with the ancient division of a complete education into the studies of
the trivium and the quadrivium. The practical man is the man of the age, but his practicality lacks
purpose. The man of letters in the nineteenth century, not yet but on his way to imprisonment in the

Soon after King James I became King of England, a dispute between high church leaders and the

The Revolution of 1688
The Glorious Revolution, also known as the Revolution of 1688, refers to the events of 1688
1689. These events eventually led to the overthrow of Catholic King James II and the ascension
(of William III and Mary II) to the English throne. These events also produced a significant shift
in the relationship between the monarchy and parliament. This paper will discuss the overthrow
of King James II, the rebellion and revolt and the consequences as well as the global effects of
the Revolution in order to explain the importance of this event in world history. James II, king of
England from 1685 1688, inherited a very strong position when he came to power. When James II
first came to the throne, he was not very well liked in the eyes of the people of Great Britain,
simply because he was a Roman Catholic King to an overwhelmingly Protestant nation. Like most
politicians, James made promises to protect the peoples personal beliefs. At the beginning of his
reign, James had promised to respect his subject s rights and liberties and protect the Protestant
establishment in the church. Despite these promises, James decided to advance the Catholic tenets
over the protestants. He did this by issuing dispensations to Catholics including the Test Act of
1673, promoting the public celebration of mass, forcing the universities to admit Catholics, issued
a Declaration of Indulgences and also engaged a campaign to pack Parliament so that he would be
able to establish Catholic tolerance by

Children As Enemies By Ha Jin
A breakaway from tradition also includes a breakaway from family in the case for author Ha Jin s
short story, Children as Enemies. The story focuses on immigrant Chinese grandparents from the Xi
family who came to America to be with their son and his children, only to be driven away by their
grandchildren s hostility towards everything Chinese that started with their dislike for their
traditional names. The children are trying to Americanize themselves as much as they can while the
grandparents are trying to keep everything as traditional as they can whereas the son of the
grandparents tries to act as a neutral barrier of sorts that ultimately fails when the grandparents
move out. The short story takes on the numerous themes but mainly the clash of cultures and how
one s heritage can potentially dwindle from one generation to the next. Qigan and Hua Xi are the
grandchildren of the focalizer, who are unhappy with their first and familyname as well with just
about everything else that resembled their family culture, save for some food they enjoy. It is
noted how important a character, as well as all people s names are, as noted by characterization.
The protagonist notes this fact, having sought all the names of his family from the prosperity of a
fortune teller. The children and their parents pay no mind to this, abiding the children s wish for a
new name. Slowly but surely, a break from tradition is forming. Something especially important
however, is their attendance to

Research Paper On Cheese
1.General Product Information
Product: Cheese
Background and General Information: The word cheese comes from Latin Caseus, from which
the modern word casein is also derived . Cheese is a by product of the milk of usually either
cows or goats, formed from the curds of the milk protein casein that are produced after the
acidification of milk. It is produced by acidifying the milk by adding vinegar or lemon to the
milk. Bacteria also acidify milk by turning the sugars in milk into lactic acid. The acidification
causes the casein in milk to clot and the milk becomes part solid. Then the solid form of the milk
that results from acidifying is separated from the liquid form and the solid form is then pressed
into shape and this is then the wheel or block of cheese we purchase in shops. Cheese is known for
its protein fat and calcium content. Unlike milk it has a relatively long shelf life, but the length of
this shelf life depends on the specific variety of cheese. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is done by acidifying the milk by adding rennet. This can also be done by adding an acid to
the milk such as vinegar or lemon juice. This is done to start a process called coagulation, which
is the name given to when the Casein in milk forms curds. Sometimes starter bacteria are
employed to the milk to change its sugars into lactic acid and start the coagulation in the milk.
These bacteria also determine the eventual flavour of aged cheeses. Cheeses are generally made
using bacteria from the Lacto coccus, Lactobacillus, or Streptococcus families. Some fresh
cheeses are curdled only by acidity, but most cheeses also use rennet. Rennet gives cheese a
strong and rubbery gel as opposed to the fragile curds produced by acidification. It causes curds to
form at a lower acidity . Therefore the softer cheeses are curdled with more acid than rennet, whilst
harder cheese types are the opposite Image 1: Showing curds in

Bartleby The Scrivener Conflict Essay
Bartleby is described as downright unemotional. He wrote noiselessly, weakly and mechanically, at
first when he wrote. He is also described as someone who is almost nonexistent. The narrator s
problems with his other employees have to do with their undependability, messiness and changing
tempers. Turkey and Nippers are quite the contradictory of Bartleby, The main conflict that Bartleby
the Scrivenerpresents is an internal problem. The narrator cannot deal with someone who appears to
be invalid of any human features and characteristics. Ah, Bartleby! Ah, humanity! is the closing

discreet, the narrator finds this a relief, compared to the unconventionalities of his clerks
Nippers and Turkey. After Bartleby s arrival, business seem to go on as usual for a little while, at
least. In the third day Bartleby has been a solid employee until he says prefers not to examine a

Marketing Strategy of Jupiters Gold Coast Hotel
Jupiters Gold Coast Hotel Marketing Strategy
Introduction
Jupiters Gold Coast Hotel offers not only a large scale casino the only one in the area but also a
variety of entertainment and dining options in addition to its luxury hotel amenities and its
oceanfront views and beach access (Jupiters Hotel Casino, 2012). This gives the hotel and casino a
great deal of attract to guests and ought to result in a high occupancy rate and a high proportion of
market share compared to its chief rivals in the area, as the amenities and services the hotel offers
are simply not matched by these competitors. Visitor levels to Queensland generally and to
Broadbeach specifically has been increasing significantly, and despite the attraction presented by
Jupiters Gold Coast Hotel and Casion the establishment will need an effective marketing plan to
acquire a greater market share of this increased tourism traffic as compared to its competitors
(Tourism Queensland, 2012).
Strategic Objective This marketing plan will aim to increase market share by five percent over the
next year by targeting first time visitors to Australia/Queensland in advertisement and promotional
materials through a business to business campaign, focusing on travel agents and other third party
international booking agents. Targeting these international sellers through the use of more recently
established information and communications technologies will produce a cost savings for the

The Debate On The Issue Of Poverty
JUDGEMENT FRAMEWORK
Poverty is a complex issue that has always been around, but has been a growing concern over
time. Holding a debate on the issue of poverty, is one that can easily go awry due to it s
complexity and emotional aspects. In order to evaluate the debate, both teams need to fully
understand the proposal and clearly articulate their stance.
The debate teams need to be able to clearly explain their position, refute the opponent s argument,
provide solutions, provide a stimulating counter examination, and effectively answer questions
from the judges. Other logistical aspects of the debate that will be judged on is the ability to
efficiently use time and allocate it between team members, as well as refraining from interrupting
other debates and keeping an appropriate volume and demeanor.
There are various general questions that will be utilized in my evaluation of the debate. Did the
teams address what poverty is, how people become poor and remain poor, explain why it s the
individual or society s fault, why we haven t been able to dramatically keep poverty low, why
current efforts are not working, and what new solutions should be utilized?
I expect both teams to utilize support for their arguments from outside sources and from the
readings. My general expectations for the arguments by both teams is to not only clearly explain
their proposed arguments, but to also

Aquinas Five Proof Essay
Disproving Aquinas Fifth Proof Saint Thomas Aquinas is famous for his five intellectual proofs
describing the existence of God. Aquinas five proofs are famous amongst Catholics and are widely
viewed as evidence of Gods existence. The basis of Aquinas fifth proof is that all things work
towards a final cause, and act in a manner that is generally harmonious. An entity must direct this
universal harmony, and that entity is God. Aquinas fifth proof from Intellectual design ,

Darwinism is a theory of biological evolution; put simply, it means that all living things
originated from one common ancestor and the strongest survive while the weak eventually die
off. For years this theory has been scientifically proven. There is solid evidence that humans
today have similar features to Neanderthals, who have similar features to monkeys and gorillas.
Thus proving, that humans descended from a different organism. As for plants and animals,
there is evidence that many animals and plants evolve from animals and plants that are already
extinct. For example, reptiles, such as lizards, birds, and crocodiles are all descendants of
dinosaurs. Also, this proves Darwin s idea that the weak eventually die off. Animals and plants
today still show traits of animals and plants that existed millions of years ago because that
species died off in order for the new species that exists now to be created. It is a scientific cycle
where we, as organisms, slowly become stronger species as time goes on. This being said, it does
not make any logical sense that there is some greater being who makes everything happen, when it
is clear that everything is scientific and has a logical

Learning Theory And Its Impact On Education
Learning is essential in today s society as education becomes significant as economy advances.
How each learns varies, and there are different approaches used for learning. Learning leads to
enduring change in a person, and it is quite a dynamic process where the knowledge and skills to
the learner are different after the learning.
Learning theories as the conceptual frameworks that describe ways in which information gets

The Darwinian thinking was also incorporated by Brunner in his basic assumptions on learning. He
supposed that prime evolution and human culture were necessary for understanding growth and
development. Individual differences and lack of standard sequence is also a basis for thinking. He
implements the concept that culture moulds mind and gives a raw material for constricting the
world and self conception (Bruner, 2009).
The characteristics of the Bruner s theory include;
Predisposition to learn that states that experience moves the learner towards the desire of learning.
The structure of knowledge; knowledge allows learner to be able to grasp ready information. The
structures vary, and preferences also vary.
The modes of representations in learning are words, visuals, and symbols
Effective sequencing; there is no specific sequence that will fit every learner. Sequencing can ease
making learning cumbersome.
The constructivist view learning as a means for mental construction through combination of already
existing knowledge with fresh information to create a meaning. The theorist gave a proposal the
learning is active, involves contextual process, social activity geared on getting a meaning and the
learner becomes a responsible agent contextualize what is perceived and understood in the
surrounding. The learner gets to interact with the immediate environment to conceptualize.
Constructivism is divided into cognitive and

In a film, ideology plays an important role in connecting the film to the society and allowing the

the actual subconscious though of a given class, or group of individual in a certain time and

ideology and its expression, there were experiences, creativity, individual thought and many more.

Power Struggle In The Film Terms Of Endearment
The three films that I have chosen all have a power struggle between the mother and daughter.

The novella The Pearl by John Steinbeck follows the story of a pearl, the hope, and evil that it

I argue that greed, culture, anger, happiness, luck, death, and evil are all significant aspects of this

framework have the best potential for reuse. In Ecologic Architecture, Richard Crowther says, Our
tendency to п¬Ѓxed state space planning is counter to our own dynamic of thinking, articulation,
and mobility. 3 We have adopted this approach for the purpose of protecting the public s health and
safety. The Uniform Building Code (UBC) requires buildings to follow a set of rules with respect to
their occupancy and construction type. While establishing п¬Ѓxed uses helps simplify the
regulatory process, the specificity of functions has gotten out of hand. The 1994 UBC outlines a
total of 32 separate occupancies, each of which contains numerous sub sections. The subsequent
hard separations and compartmentalization limits the capability of a building to adapt to future
needs. Open plans and partitioning that is easily recyclable or biodegradable, such as Stramit straw
panels, allow for greater versatility.

Vaccination Is The Most Important Factor
Taylor Gowen
Professor Cynthia Walton
College Comp I
04 November 2014
Vaccines Immunization is defined as the process of giving immunity to prevent infectious diseases
by artificial methods (The Hutchinson Unabridged Encyclopedia). Statistics show that vaccines
prevent more than 2.5 million child deaths per year (Davey, et al 5). These deaths typically occur
in children under the age of 5. Immunizations are arguably one of the most important benefits of
modern medicine offered in our country. Vaccines are given to prevent a serious disease or illness.
They are generally only given to healthy people to help boost immunity (Sanford, S52). Without
vaccines diseases such as measles, mumps and rubella (MMR), polio (IPV or OPV), diphtheria
tetanus and acellular pertussis (DTaP), Haemophilus Influenzae type b (HIB) and Hepatitis (HEP
A, B, C) would still be prevalent (Sanford, S61). Within the 21st century, there have been many
positive changes occurring throughout our world. Vaccinationis the most important factor in
reduction of deaths or serious diseases in children under the age of 5 (Kennedy, 1). Controversy
remains if whether the risk of side effects from the vaccines, outweigh the risk of contracting the
disease. Vaccinations have proven to be an effective method of preventing serious diseases, which
are the cause of many childhood illnesses that often result in fatality (Kennedy, 1). Understanding
the importance of vaccines is crucial. Vaccines are not only

Alcatraz Prison
Alcatraz was a prison, that was in use from 1934 to 1963. It housed some of the worldВґs most
dangerous criminals over the span of twenty nine years. I chose to write about Alcatraz because
I like the history of weird and creepy places, which Alcatraz is. Alcatraz is creepy because there
are many claims that people have heard the cries and moans in cell blocks A, B, and C. I also
chose to write about this because I wanted to learn more about Alcatraz. Someday I want to go
there. This essay will explain why an Army prisonwas turned into a federal penitentiary on Alcatraz
Island, who were some famous inmates that once occupied a cell there and, it will detail some of
the attempted escapes from Alcatraz.
In 1933, the U.S. Army relinquished control of the island of Alcatraz to the U.S. Justice Department
(History.com). At that time the federal government wanted a federal prison that could house a
criminal population [that was] too difficult or dangerous to be handled by other U.S. penitentiaries
(History.com). The main reason that Alcatraz was turned into a federal prison is because escape
was thought to be impossible (History.com). Alcatraz was made more secure than it already was to
prevent escapes following construction to make the prison safer. ... Show more content on

The most famous inmates, like Birdman of Alcatraz, usually had nicknames (History.com).
Although Stroud had this nickname, he was not allowed to keep birds at Alcatraz as he had while
locked up in Leavenworth (History.com). George Kelly, also known as Machine Gun Kelly, was

  • 7. The Importance Of Building A Monument Although building a statue or memorial seems simple you think of something you want to build or memorialize, you choose a location, you design it, and then of course, you build it. However, the actual process proves to be more controversial and painstaking. The difficulties when it comes to building a statue or monument should arise prior to building the actual monument. The most critical stages of development are throughout the design and planning process. This is due to the many factors that have to go into consideration when designing a monument the overall purpose of the monument, the design of the monument, and choosing the right location and position of the monument all while considering ways to strengthen the aura and draw in more visitors. The main purpose of a monument is by far the factor that should receive the utmost consideration and development. This is because the other stages of development and design revolve around the purpose of the monument. Before you can decide what a monument will look like, you must know what you want to accomplish with the monument along with the feelings you wish to inspire in visitors. For example, if you wanted to portray a soldier s courage and strength through a statue, you may not want to build a 5 foot tall, flimsy aluminum statue of a smiling soldier with open arms, ready to embrace a hug. • 8. The World Trade Center Tragedy After the Deregulation Act of 1978 in the United States, the airline industry was forced to adapt to the rapidly changing environment (Goetz Vowles, 2009). At the time, the nominally regulated air transporting environment permitted the airlines to begin services on any desired route, giving them a great deal of liberty in the market. Although things were going well for those involved in the aviation industry, several factors began to have a negative impact on the industry. For instance, as the competition started to escalate, airlines began to take a competitive stance against one another, fighting for their share of the market. Moreover, the World Trade Center tragedy in 2001 had an adverse impact on the entire airlineindustry (Coy, 2005). Adding to the predicament, the recent financial crisis of 2008 and the current inflation in fuel prices have caused the US airline industry to regroup the fleet formation, making it the most competitive airline industry in the world (Ryerson Kim, 2014). The whole airline industry now found itself struggling to survive. In order to provide the best quality of the air transport services while competing against other airlines in the US and other countries, the airlines had to develop a variety of strategies. The fleet planning is a significant part of airlines survival strategies designed to optimize the flight operation that maximizes the revenue. Legal Law Of Non Professional Services Essay The only segment of the opinion, written by Justice McClanahan that I would have preferred to see more written about was where she wrote that the VPPA clearly established that sealed competitive bidding was the sole method of procurement that had to be used, by SBC, for this contract. I believe that Justice McClanahan was not looking at all procurements of non professional services but only at the solicitation issued by SBSC. Therefore, I believe what Justice McClanahan should have written was that competitive sealed bidding was the sole option for SBSC based on their actions. If Justice McClanahan meant to say that it was the only option for any procurementof non professional services, then I believe she was incorrect. Both Thomas Folk and William Mauck Jr. published legal articles that analyzed this case. They both wrote that competitive negotiations was an option for the procurement of non professional services at the time that SBSC issued their solicitation. • 12. The Marvel Of The Movie Watchmen Subsequently, while most superhero plots involve an element of fantasy, the characters in Moore s graphic novel are, for the most part, embedded into pessimistic version of reality with only lifelike traits. Obviously, the one glaring exception in Watchmen is Doctor Manhattan, who is transformed into a being capable of a number of otherworldly abilities. However, the other five heroes in the story are regular humans who take the initiative to aid in the protection of society. This is unlike most superheroes in previous comics, who are often blessed with a divine power that allows them to conquer all evil. Additionally, referring to the society in which Moore s heroes are immersed in, it is situated in a location known to its readers, with a certain twist. While Superman has his Metropolis and Batman has his Gotham City, the six costumed adventurers are based in New York City, or more accurately, a filthy parody of it. The universe in which Moore sets his story is the closest to reality, with a hyperbolic emphasis on the evil in society, in which superheroes have been set it. Hence, the problems presented to the superheroes are not something to be combatted with fantastical talents, but more nuanced with realistic obstacles without a clear solution. In Watchmen, the imminent threat of nuclear war is a state of affairs that would have been realistic for readers, particularly during the time period of the graphic novel s release in 1987. The need to remove monopoly of service delivery and create contestability, through privatization, public tendering, and term contracts, justifies the adoption of competition principle (Dunleavy 1994; Hood 1991). Insisting to do bureaucratic provision on public servicesinstead of contracting them out, knowing that private sectorcan deliver them better, it is believed would only force governments to lose comparative advantages on price, efficiency, and effectiveness (Dunleavy 1994. p.49). This way, governments are able to fulfil their responsibility in providing services and the financing, while simultaneously stimulate greater competition among providers under market dynamics. However, it is hard to instigate public service ethos in private parties. Therefore, the capacity of private entities to act consistently with the public interest is greatly questioned in this scenario. Are concerns such as public health and safety, environment sustainability, and social equity likely to be sacrificed underneath market mechanisms? When power is shared with organizations which have business objectives apart from governments goals, the fundamental issue is how to detect which missions they are carrying out. When James II first came to the throne, he was not very well liked in the eyes of the people of Great Britain, simply because he was a Roman Catholic King to an overwhelmingly Protestant nation. Like most politicians, James made promises to protect the peoples personal beliefs. At the beginning of his reign, James had promised to respect his subject s rights and liberties and protect the Protestant establishment in the church. Despite these promises, James decided to advance the Catholic tenets over the protestants. He did this by issuing dispensations to Catholics including the Test Act of 1673, promoting the public celebration of mass, forcing the universities to admit Catholics, issued a Declaration of Indulgences and also engaged a campaign to pack Parliament so that he would be able to establish Catholic tolerance by ... The story focuses on immigrant Chinese grandparents from the Xi family who came to America to be with their son and his children, only to be driven away by their grandchildren s hostility towards everything Chinese that started with their dislike for their traditional names. The children are trying to Americanize themselves as much as they can while the grandparents are trying to keep everything as traditional as they can whereas the son of the grandparents tries to act as a neutral barrier of sorts that ultimately fails when the grandparents move out. The short story takes on the numerous themes but mainly the clash of cultures and how one s heritage can potentially dwindle from one generation to the next. Qigan and Hua Xi are the grandchildren of the focalizer, who are unhappy with their first and familyname as well with just about everything else that resembled their family culture, save for some food they enjoy. It is noted how important a character, as well as all people s names are, as noted by characterization. The protagonist notes this fact, having sought all the names of his family from the prosperity of a fortune teller. The children and their parents pay no mind to this, abiding the children s wish for a new name. Slowly but surely, a break from tradition is forming. Something especially important however, is their attendance to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 26. Research Paper On Cheese 1.General Product Information Product: Cheese Background and General Information: The word cheese comes from Latin Caseus, from which the modern word casein is also derived . Cheese is a by product of the milk of usually either cows or goats, formed from the curds of the milk protein casein that are produced after the acidification of milk. It is produced by acidifying the milk by adding vinegar or lemon to the milk. Bacteria also acidify milk by turning the sugars in milk into lactic acid. The acidification causes the casein in milk to clot and the milk becomes part solid. Then the solid form of the milk that results from acidifying is separated from the liquid form and the solid form is then pressed into shape and this is then the wheel or block of cheese we purchase in shops. Cheese is known for its protein fat and calcium content. Unlike milk it has a relatively long shelf life, but the length of this shelf life depends on the specific variety of cheese. ... Sometimes starter bacteria are employed to the milk to change its sugars into lactic acid and start the coagulation in the milk. These bacteria also determine the eventual flavour of aged cheeses. Cheeses are generally made using bacteria from the Lacto coccus, Lactobacillus, or Streptococcus families. Some fresh cheeses are curdled only by acidity, but most cheeses also use rennet. Rennet gives cheese a strong and rubbery gel as opposed to the fragile curds produced by acidification. It causes curds to form at a lower acidity . Holding a debate on the issue of poverty, is one that can easily go awry due to it s complexity and emotional aspects. In order to evaluate the debate, both teams need to fully understand the proposal and clearly articulate their stance. The debate teams need to be able to clearly explain their position, refute the opponent s argument, provide solutions, provide a stimulating counter examination, and effectively answer questions from the judges. Other logistical aspects of the debate that will be judged on is the ability to efficiently use time and allocate it between team members, as well as refraining from interrupting other debates and keeping an appropriate volume and demeanor. There are various general questions that will be utilized in my evaluation of the debate. Did the teams address what poverty is, how people become poor and remain poor, explain why it s the individual or society s fault, why we haven t been able to dramatically keep poverty low, why current efforts are not working, and what new solutions should be utilized? Darwinism is a theory of biological evolution; put simply, it means that all living things originated from one common ancestor and the strongest survive while the weak eventually die off. For years this theory has been scientifically proven. There is solid evidence that humans today have similar features to Neanderthals, who have similar features to monkeys and gorillas. Thus proving, that humans descended from a different organism. As for plants and animals, there is evidence that many animals and plants evolve from animals and plants that are already extinct. For example, reptiles, such as lizards, birds, and crocodiles are all descendants of dinosaurs. Also, this proves Darwin s idea that the weak eventually die off. Animals and plants today still show traits of animals and plants that existed millions of years ago because that species died off in order for the new species that exists now to be created. It is a scientific cycle where we, as organisms, slowly become stronger species as time goes on. Vaccination Is The Most Important Factor Taylor Gowen Professor Cynthia Walton College Comp I 04 November 2014 Vaccines Immunization is defined as the process of giving immunity to prevent infectious diseases by artificial methods (The Hutchinson Unabridged Encyclopedia). Statistics show that vaccines prevent more than 2.5 million child deaths per year (Davey, et al 5). These deaths typically occur in children under the age of 5. Immunizations are arguably one of the most important benefits of modern medicine offered in our country. Vaccines are given to prevent a serious disease or illness. They are generally only given to healthy people to help boost immunity (Sanford, S52). Without vaccines diseases such as measles, mumps and rubella (MMR), polio (IPV or OPV), diphtheria tetanus and acellular pertussis (DTaP), Haemophilus Influenzae type b (HIB) and Hepatitis (HEP A, B, C) would still be prevalent (Sanford, S61). Within the 21st century, there have been many positive changes occurring throughout our world. Vaccinationis the most important factor in reduction of deaths or serious diseases in children under the age of 5 (Kennedy, 1). Controversy remains if whether the risk of side effects from the vaccines, outweigh the risk of contracting the disease.
